Franco Zefferelli s Romeo and Juliet and Baz Luhrmann s...
The astounding perils of young love has been eloquently captured in the story of Romeo and
Juliet. Franco Zefferelli and Baz Luhrmann are the creators of the two most renowned film
adaptations of William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. Zefferelli, the more traditional director,
created his Oscar winning version in 1968. Baz Luhrmann put an abstract, modern twist on
Shakespeare s classic and created the 1996 version that raised millions of dollars in box office
sales. Being that these two films are so different, I have chosen to compare them to one another,
using the famed balcony sceneas my focus.
In the Franco Zefferelli adaptation, proceeding the extravagant Capulet party, Romeo walks down a
dark stone path alone with his very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She vocalizes her love and adoration for Romeo, not knowing that every word she speaks falls
upon his ears. Unable to contain his elation about what he has just heard, Romeo leaps from the
darkness below the balcony, abruptly startling Juliet. She retreats towards the doorway of her
room, feeling violated and unsure about Romeo s presence. She appears angry because of their
families hatred towards eachother. The interaction between them is forbidden, so she turns towards
the her room, ready to leave, until she is halted by Romeo s confession. If given the opportunity, he
would choose to deny the Montague name so that he may share his life with her. Surprised, Juliet
returns to where Romeo awaits her.
During this scene, the soft light continually falls upon Juliet s angelic face, yet Romeo
predominantly remains in the darkness, shadowed. This may reference the goodness of the
Capulets and the supposed evilness of the Montagues from Juliet s standpoint. The camera is also
pointed up during this scene when directed towards Juliet, yet pointed down when directed towards
Romeo. Zefferelli may have used these camera angles to show that Juliet is considered someone
Romeo admires although he is considered a lesser man by the Capulet family.
As the scene continues, Juliet explains to Romeo the consequences of them being caught together,
and as she sadly and amorously gazes at him, he hides behind a tree branch to protect himself.
Juliet moves to a dark

With an estimated 11.7 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. today, immigration reform has been a
volatile issue that hasn t been adequately addressed throughout the 21st century. With the last major
overhaul occurring in 1986, when over 3 million immigrants were granted U.S. citizenship,
politicians are saying another major overhaul is needed to address the newer generation of illegal
immigrants. Legislations including the Border Protection, Anti terrorism, and Illegal Immigration
Control Act of 2005, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006, and the DREAM act
of 2012 have all tried to address the depressing need for immigration reform but have failed due to
lack of bipartisan support. Still, political leaders urge for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main reasons include the close proximity between the two countries and the vast difference in
the quality of life. For most, getting a job at minimum wage provides a much higher standard of
living from what they came from. They are just looking for better jobs and economics opportunities
to support their families that they cannot find in their home country. The average wage in Mexico
is about $4.15 with those in the agricultural industries making even less. 40% of the Mexican
population is under the poverty line, and 25% of workers are underemployed. With such disastrous
numbers, many Mexicans find the U.S. to be extremely attractive.
Flight attendants instruct passengers, in the event of a loss of cabin pressure, to put an oxygen
mask on yourself before you try to help your children or other passengers. The same goes for the
U.S. and illegal immigrants. With massive amounts of poverty, unemployment, and debt in the
U.S., the U.S. must deal with its own problems before it helps others. The federal government has
spent $186.8 billion on immigration enforcement since 1986 that has not helped keep illegal
immigrants out of the U.S. Illegal immigration continues to be a burden on taxpayers through direct
benefits, public education, and population based services. In 2010 alone, the average unlawful
immigrant household received $24,721 in government

Old Chillingworth In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a book written about the punishment of bearing
the cost of Adultery. This features the leading character, Hester Prynne, letting the reader see her
as a symbol of courage and how the effect of a single letter can have on one s life. Hester Prynne
and her lover have too many problems in the result of the letter, with one, of course, being the
vengeful pursuit of her husband, Roger Chillingworth. Hester s betrayal sparks Chillingworth s
nature as the antagonists in the story, with his desire for revenge and his self inflicted moral
deterioration. His keen attributes, combined with his madness, results in the novel s main idea of
the consequences of sin. This leaves Old Chillingworth s as being a... Show more content on

This gives him the chance to interact with Hester on good terms, but that is quickly neutralized
when his kindness was due to luring out the truth. His rise to fame in the town assigns him to the
dimming Reverend, Arthur Dimmesdale. His villainy, in this case, enhances the plot by placing
Dimmesdale right in the lion s den; leaving Chillingworth to be able to poke and prod at
Dimmesdale conscience, a strategy that Dimmesdale did not notice. His torment of the already
weak Reverend shows his twisted mentality and lack of human remorse, which eventually is the
downfall of Arthur Dimmesdale and the doctor himself. Chillingworth s actions towards the
Reverend is revealed when his true colors are exposed by the light given off of the meteor. Now
his presence stands for the confirmation that he is an evil man and the continuation of torturing the
Rev. though now it is going to be physical damage rather than his spiritual self. His descent into
madness is characterized by his outward appearance that is noticeable by both Hester and the
townspeople, At first his expression had been calm, meditative, scholar like. Now there was
something ugly and evil in his face, which they had not previously noticed, and which still grew

Media Improve Communication
The Way Social Media Improve Communication Between People
The creation of social media is important technology that has positive effects on individual s life.
Also, It can help to people have a great communication with each other that is very useful. On the
other hand, some people argue that social media provide a negative effect in our lives. In
additional, they believe, some people might use these tools in the wrong way. For example, some
people use this tool for a long time that waste their time. However, I believe networking sites is a
very important innovation for having a better communication with other people. In my
opinion, there are several ways that prove social media improves the way that we communicate with
each other, including possibility of voice and video calls, improve business with build relationship
between people and ability share information to each other.
Some people argue that excessive use of social media is not acceptable, because it will lead to
waste their time. For example, some children might use social media for long hours, so this action
create some addiction between children, also they will waste their precious times of their lives. In
addition, many people spend much of their time to talk with their families with social media such
as, Facebook, Twitter and Telegram that cause individuals cannot appropriately use of their time.
Another reason that prove social media networking sites waste valuable our time is, unfortunately

Farm Descriptive Essay
The Farm Awakens
The arrival of the six children wearing wrinkled clothes and half shut eyes ironically revived the
empty ranch and brought life back into each and every crevice. The rusty gates creaked as they
swung open, revealing the world of tall grass and herds of cattle hidden deep in the hills of
Nevada. Two cars, filled to capacity, rolled up the dusty, dirt road leaving behind all sense of
civilization. They arrived at night. Thousands of white lights illuminated the sky normally
blanketed by the bright streets back home. The air smelled and felt fresh. The eerie quiet hid the
sleeping animals, but because of the grinding gravel and anxious screams of joy, the children s
noise bounced between the mountain sides and awoke the farm. Both cars parked in front of the
white picket fence lining the house and duffle bags dumped out the back of the SUV s filled with
sweaters, toiletries, pants, blankets and pretty much anything else they could fit. The strong, stocky
fathers slung the bags over their shoulders and brought them inside, turned on the lights, and the
outside world was forgotten as they admired the inside of their home for the week.
When the door opened, 5 pairs of boots stomped inside, shuffling their feet along the thick, bristly
rug that read Welcome Home! . As their heads revolved around the room, Dylan and Grace, the two
oldest, led the pack of children naively glancing past the cowhide rugs and rustic furniture the
parents admired. They traveled room to

created a new me to improve his life and the dissatisfied world, but Taylor controlled Jack s life,
in other words, Jack fell into a world which is created by others, he seems has a normal life but
was bound by life. In fact, Jack and Taylor are the same one because Taylor is another personality
which is the idealism personality of Jake, but Jack is a weak materialist, and Taylor is a powerful
idealist. Jack killed the Taylor, so he destroyed the Utopia, and ultimately return to real world. On
the other hand, Pink Floyd s album The Wallalso reflect similar idea. The whole album has a clear
story line, there are several songs, which is Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 1, 2 , Mother , and
Empty Spaces , talk about something happened in Pink such as Pink s father s dead,
overprotective mother, tormented at school, and wife s betrayed which created the wall and
isolated Pink from the outside; however, the wall is not all created by external factors,
Loneliness is like a spiritual wall as a invisible limitation, and the wall is accumulated by all
stages of life, which is not transferred by individual will. Pink s enclosed thoughts make the Wall
indestructible which limit his behavior, until the last song Outside The Wall , Pink breaks the wall

Pros And Cons Of Being An American
Being an American today should be looked upon an honor and a privilege. Being an American
you can witness what 9/11 was all about and how it all came apart from there. It s harder now to
see how we are still standing and how we overcome all these problems that are out there. We are
still recovering from all that was broken all around us.
It s harder nowadays to achieve the American dream because of the cost of our education and
health care. People nowadays don t have enough money to pay for health care or child care. Now
we are still struggling with trying to not be bankrupted and keeping kids in schools without the
pursuits. The poor have to homeschool their kids and don t have the money for all the health
payments.
American s today are working more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of waste that s produced by the lack of concern for the environment is huge. We as
Americans don t see it as a total problem because we re doing different things that we don t pay
attention to. We as people need to learn the concept of not wasting anything to harm the people and
other things around us.
Being Americans, we, get choices rather than having to be told how to live. We get to choose
our schools, churches, religions, careers, etc. We don t have to be slaves in the 1800 s. We get to
do whatever we desire and get to do whatever we want without anybody telling us what to do. As
Americans, we, get to live in whatever way we need to in order to be successful in ways nobody
can imagine.
Today in order to go to college most kids have to take out student loans in order to get a degree.
But paying off those loans before you do becomes a greater achievement.
We might not have the money to go to college and then become poor or having a rich life. We
shouldn t have to pay thousands of dollars to go to college or the poor don t have enough, why do
they still have to get the money? We should get in with no charge no matter

Certainty In The Crucible
Flip Flopping In the prompt provided, I refute the idea that an absolute sense of certainty
accomplishes virtually anything, because having no further input on an issue means it could be
biased or wrong. Especially in politics, I believe that you can t always believe everything has a
definite answer, you must see both sides on an issue and address it from there. Examples of this
can be shown through Max Born s philosophy, the history of Adolf Hitler, and The Crucible .
Therefore, I support the idea of flip flopping being a negative attribute, because a leader must
address all sides of a situation and gather information before he sides with his supporters. They
should not choose a side solely based on their follower s opinion. In the article... Show more content

In the town of Salem, Massachusetts, people were too afraid to confess their sins, so they
blamed them on others. They accused others of witchcraft in order to get vengeance. It was a
toxic town. The judge, Danforth, firmly believed that witchcraft was real, and refused to take
any other input from his fellow town members on what could be the cause of it. Due to his
absolute sense of certainty on this issue, he sent hundreds of men and women to be hanged for
witchcraft. He felt a sense of leadership to keep Salem from going insane, so he fed into their
beliefs and did what he thought would earn peace and a following. A quote from Danforth in the
play supports my argument. Now hear me, and beguile yourselves no more. I will not receive a
single plea for pardon or postponement. Them that will not confess will hang. Twelve are
already executed; the names of these seven are given out, and the village expects to see them
this morning. Postponement now speaks a floundering on my part; reprieve or pardon must cast
doubt upon the guilt of them that died till now. While I speak God s law, I will not crack its
voice without whimpering. Danforth realized that if he were to change his mind now or let others
free, people would realize he is a fraud and doesn t stick to his word. They would feel

I believe the women in sex slavery and those who are placed in brothels have the worst situation
because you are used and abused for the rest of your life. Some of the owners provide drugs for
the women and then seduce them seduce so the women do not know what is going on. These
owners also do not care about the women because the owners can go out and just purchase another
slave. The women are used and abused then when the owners do not want them anymore they get
rid of the women. Then the owners go out and get another female and the vicious cycle continues
over and over again until the owners are satisfied. As horrible as this life sounds, I believe the
children in this trade have it the worst.
Children trafficking is the most sickening and cruel trafficking of them all. How could a person
take an innocent child and sell him/her to someone who is just going to hurt them? This is the
part that I cannot wrap my mind around. Yes, some children are annoying but, no child deserves
to be taken away and sold. Children are people they should not be treated as items or things that
can be easily replaced. Some children have done things that are wrong and some children have
done nothing. Even if a child has done something wrong, that child does not deserve to be sold
into trafficking. How could someone take a five year old child and take him away from his
family. How would you feel if that was your own child? I would have the biggest hurt throughout
my body because of my child

grown to 10.87 trillion USD today. This GDP growth is mirrored and positively correlated with
China s tremendous population growth. Chinahas experienced a population growth from under 552

increased dependence on the advanced production of food in China. In order to feed this growing

In October of 2005 the preserved remains of ancient noodles were discovered at the Lajia
archaeological site which sits on the second terrace of the Yellow River near Qinghai. These
noodles where a revolutionary find allowing anthropologists to further research ancient Chinese
food. The noodles were made from foxtail and broom corn millet and were preserved for
thousands of years in the rock. From these findings it is clear that grain based noodles have been
a staple part of the Chinese diet for thousands of years. During the time frame from around 2070
BC to 221 BC five chief grains made up the staple diet of the Chinese. This time period included
the Xia, Shang, Zhou dynasties and the Warring States Period is commonly referred to as the
period of five grains. Anthropologists and historians have found and studied many different
records that argue over which grains were in fact a part of the five grains. According the Classic
of Rites which was comprised by Confucius and his followers during the 6th century the five
staple grains included soybeans, rice, proso millet, foxtail millet, and wheat. Scholars argue over
the which grains were a part of the traditional five. Another version of the Classic of Rights
replaces rice with hemp. Before the rise of Confucius there was no prior record of the way that the
Chinese cooked their food. Confucius through his teaching and wisdom laid the groundwork and

Analysis Of Born A Crime By Trevor Noah
Born A Crime by Trevor Noah, is a compelling memoir allowing its readers insight into Noah s
daily life, under apartheid. Just like the title, Trevor Noah was born a crime. To explain, During
apartheid, one of the worst crimes you could commit was having relations with a person of
another race...my parents committed that crime (Noah 21). Trevor Noah was a mixed child. As a
child, he had difficulties fitting in, but that didn t stop him from identifying with both races.
Trevor Noah became a chameleon. Although, some may say it s impossible to identify and relate
to various cultures Trevor Noah proved them wrong. He says, My color didn t change, but I could
change your perception of my color (Noah 56). Trevor Noah used language and behavior tactics to
become a cultural chameleon. Just like Trevor Noah, is able to adapt to his environment and culture;
a chameleon is able to change its color to merge into his environment, as well. For example,
Noah was fluent in many languages and that became one of his strongest tools. Noah explains If
you spoke to me in Zulu, I replied to you in Zulu... Maybe I didn t look like you, but if I spoke
like you, I am you (Noah 56). Language is a powerful tool used to unite various strangers to
comfortable acquaintances. Apartheid knew this and part of the effort to divide black people
was to make sure we were separated not just physically but by language as well (Noah 49) to
further racism. Throughout Trevor Noah s life, he learned to use the tool of language to his
benefit. Furthermore, Noah used his abilities to blend in during life endangering situations. For
example, one day Noah overheard a group of Zulu guys plotting to mug this white guy. Speaking
Zulu, Noah was able to turn around and say Yo, guys, why don t we just mug someone together
(Noah 55). The fact that Noah was able to speak Zulu, it saved him from an unfortunate
experience. The boys realized he was just like one of them and decided not to harm him.
Additionally, Noah and his mother was able to get out of a sticky situation in a store, because his
mother was able to speak Afrikaans (Noah 55). Additionally, as another example, Trevor Noah
found himself in jail. There was a man, who looked intimidating

Personal Narrative-Moira s Big Gig
Moira s Big Gig I thought I had it all down until that very moment. Its casting night for the middle
school play. Me as an 8th grader went in pretty confident, and I was determined to get a part.
Even though last year for me as a 7th grader didn t go quite well for me. I kept working hard for
the next year, to make my skills better. At additions i usually stumble over my words so I feel shy
and that I let myself down. But castings were postaed the next morning. Me feelingthe rush of
adrenaline, I speed down the hallway. I look frantically at the list, my heart pounding. My eyes
moving so fast looking for my name. Finally there I see it my name posted by the charter Moira

The morning of the dress rehearsal I go over my lines once more. The cast was told that we
would go to first and second and then leave for third. Some people were so nervous they were
biting, some running around with excitement. As for me I feel excited but as the show gets closer
and closer my mind is having confits. We get to the stageand put on our costumes and makeup. My
hands were so shaky I had to have someone else do my make up. Wendy said Ok everyone gather
up for warm ups! we start with baby shark and then on to Rock the boat. A couple mints later I
hear the door opened outside of the stage. I lean over to my friend Lizzy who also is in the play
and I say They are here, not long until we perform ! We both make tense faces as the number of
butterflies multiply in my stomach. A few minutes later all of students are seated it s time to start.

Essay about The Stalinist Terror and Sofia Petrovna
In the book Sofia Petrovna, the author Lydia Chukovskaya writes about Sofia Petrovna and her
dreadful experiences as a widowed mother during the Russian Stalinist Terror of the 1930s.
There were four basic results of the Russian Stalinist Terror: first, it was a way of keeping people
in order; second, it kept Stalin in power and stopped revolutions from forming, made people work
harder to increase the output of the economy, and separated families as well as caused deaths of
many innocent people due to false charges.
Stalin used the media in order to convince the Russian citizens that there were saboteurs and spies
within Russian population. Stalin used the secret police and military forces to carry out the arrests

The media also expresses that the imprisonment of the spies is the right thing to do. Up with the
banner of Bolshevik vigilance, as we are taught by the genius of the leader of the peoples,
comrade Stalin! Let us root out all saboteurs, secret and open, and all those in sympathy with
them (83) As Sofia Petrovna reads the Timofeyev editorial, her boss, Timofeyev, is accusing Sofia
for being a saboteur because she had sympathy for Natasha being fired, another so called saboteur.
Stalin and his mass media propaganda persuade Timofeyev into taking part in the terror, resulting
Timoteyev s belief that what Stalin is doing is the best for the Russian country. The terror stopped
revolutions from forming because whatever groups Stalin didn t agree with he could simply arrest
the members of that group. In Timofeyev s editorial Sofia is siding with a Natasha, Natasha is
thought to be a revolutionary, because Natasha wasn t said to be loyal to the communist regime,
and therefore Sofia is accused of siding with a sabotager or revolutionary.
The terror also kept people working harder to increase the output of the economy. Movements such
as the Stakhanovite movement, squeezed greater efforts out of workers and those who fell behind
usually were accused of sabotaging. This benefited the Russian economy as they attempted to catch
up to Europe and America throughout the age of

Closing The Gap Analysis
I. Introduction
In Australia, Closing the Gap has become a key focus in the way governments have decided to
address indigenous inequality. The term closing the gap can be traced back to policy introduced in
New Zealand in the 1990s aimed at addressing inequality in MДЃori communities. Governments in
both Australia and New Zealand have tried to bridge perceived gaps between these Indigenous
groups and the rest of society particularly in relation to gaps in socioeconomic status. However
such policies may be problematic as they tend to ignore issues of self determination and sovereignty
sought by Indigenous groups (Cornell 2006:9 10; Muldoon Schaap 2012:535). Ignoring claims of
self determination and sovereignty may be indicative of ongoing divisions in settler states working
to accommodate the needs and outcomes of Indigenous groups given the undercurrent of conflictual
and often violent histories that mar the relations between the two groups. As such, this essay seeks
to compare these policies regarding inequalities between Indigenous societies and their settler states,
as well as the relevant contexts of these policies, in order to highlight issues that emerge in relation
to indigenous claims for sovereignty and concepts of nationalism.
The issue with closing the gap policies is that such initiatives seek to unite or assimilate indigenous

The Unemployment Rate Of The United States
The national unemployment rate in the United States from December 2015 is 5.0 percent, which
has reduced from the previous months in 2015. The unemployment rates for Whites are 4.5 percent,
which is lower than the national average. But sadly the unemployment rates for minorities are
much higher. According to bls.gov the rate for unemployment for African Americans is 8.3
percent; although this number is the lowest it has been since 2007, theirs is still higher than the
national average. The unemployment rate for Mexican Americans (Hispanics) is 6.3 percent and
for Asian Americans is 4.0 percent. This shows that overall African Americans still have higher
unemployment than every other demographic since December 2016. The unemployment rate is
measured by a division of the Department of Labor known as the Bureau of Labor Statistics
(bls.gov). This government agency conducts a monthly survey called the Current Population
Survey that involves 60,000 households. These households are selected using random sampling
methods designed to generate as close an approximation as possible to the larger population.
Unemployment occurs mostly when someone who is actively searching for employment is
unable to find work. But however people without a job are not necessarily unemployed according
to bls.gov. But according to cnn.com there were over 5.4 million jobs opened in the U.S in April
2015 alone. So why does it seem that there are so many people mostly minorities not being able to

Spider Man As A Hero
According to Joel D. Chaston, an English professor at Missouri State University, Spider Man is
one of the Marvel Comics most popular superhero, which was created by writer editor Stan Lee.
Chaston claims that Stan Lee is the best known costumed superhero of the Marvel Comics
universe and the star of several comic books and television series. Andy Hunsaker, a comics editor
who has work with Yahoo! Movies, Fancast, Xfinity Television and UGO, among others, covering
movies and television says that Spider Manwas first appeared in the Amazing Fantasy number 15
back in 1962. The character has gained popularity among American society, and has remained
popular until today. The history of Spider Man first started off with an idea of a writer named Stan
Lee; then there is a present day version of the hero; Peter Parker, and how he fights with his dark
side, Venom. First and Foremost, the hero Spider Man started with a creative ideas that Stan Lee
developed in 1962. Nolan Feeney, a journalist, and a staff editor at Entertainment Weekly states
that one day, Lee s publisher told him that he must come up with a new superhero idea. That day,
Lee went home and started thinking about what would a new hero be like. He saw a fly was
climbing on the wall, so he came up with an idea that a new hero should be able to climb walls.
He started to randomly call out the new hero s name, Fly Man, Insect Man, and Mosquito Man;

Robert Lee Frost Analysis
Robert Lee Frost was conceived in San Francisco, March 26. He was one of America s premier
twentieth century writers and won the Pulitzer Prize four times. In spite of the fact that his
verse shapes are old style, he was an innovator in the interaction of meter and rhyme and in the
wonderful utilization of the vocabulary and emphases of how everybody speaks today. His
work is full of nature and is very touching. Two of Robert Lee Frosts supreme and popular poems
that I will be working with are The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on A Snowy Evening
. In the poems Road not taken and Stopping by woods on a snowy evening Robert Frostexplains that
both depict how to take choices in life a circumstance where he needs to pick between two ways in
that will affect his life forever.
In The Road Not Taken the writer in the sonnet is voyaging and comes at the spot from where
the road is isolated into two. Here he needs to choose which way he needs to go for eventual fate
of his life. The goals of both pathways are obscure. Yet, the poet needs to pick one of them as he
can t choose both roads at once. Utilizing yellow wood (line 1) as a representative signal to
seniority moving toward quick, his definitive decision will endure for what he will have to live
with for the rest of his life. Moving toward older age comes with the acknowledgment of the
truth, it s an ideal opportunity to say goodbye to dreams and expectations. Then took the other,
as just as fair and having perhaps the better claim (line 6 7). The poet appears to be indecisive
here. But, he has settled on a choice, he is still constantly thinking about it. On the outline, both
roads strike as comparative, with no apparent difference. As a result, his absence of activity and
uncertainty causes him enormous distress and delay. Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I
doubted if I should ever come back (line 14 15). The poet endeavors to persuade himself with little
achievement, verging on daydreaming. He induces himself that if one road ends up being
unsatisfactory, he would have the capacity to offer reparation and pick the other road. In any case,
looking back, he s completely mindful that his decision will impact him in his later years

Hip Hop was developed in the late 1970 s in South Bronx, New York by talented African
Americans and Latino teenagers that also produced breakdancing and graffiti art. Hip Hop culture
is often confused with the hip hop genre. Therefore, Hip Hop culture and movement of the 1980 s

violence of the lyrics in the music. In addition, It has conditioned society to view women in a

The Impact Of Public Figures As A Role Models On Children
Do we want young teen girls living in a world where it s normal for boys to call them a fat piglet
? Many famous celebrities act inappropriately in the public eye. Since they re so famous, if they
do anything that should be considered wrong, no one really thinks of it as a mistake. For
example, if someone at school hit, called someone an inappropriate name, everyone would make
a big deal out of it. However, if a popular basketball player hit his wife, it isn t published in news
sources and showed to the public as much as it should be. Furthermore, public figures being
perceived as a role model affects children in negative ways because they act inappropriately in the
public eye, are violent, and break laws. Many celebrities think it s okay to act improper in public
because they re famous. Look at the president of the United States, Donald Trump, he has social
media and some of the things he says and puts for everyone to see is a little much sometimes.
There is a video of Trump in an interview a couple years back calling Khloe Kardashian a fat
piglet . If a teen girl saw that video one day and she was insecure about her looks, that video isn t
going to make her feel better about herself. Statistics show in 2011 2013 there was 10.9 per
100,000 teens who committed suicide. A lot of those teens were assumably insecure, feeling
unaccepted in the world, dealing with depression, and felt like they were alone in the world.

Communication Is The Greatest Asset Of Civilization
Communication is the greatest asset of civilization. It is through our ability to understand and
convey thoughts that we are able to cooperate for the good of our community, whether it be local
or global. Because communication holds so much power it must also be used with care. If used
unwisely, communication has the ability to destroy relationships and make cooperation impossible.
The six barriers of communication will be discussed in the following paragraphs and they are
clichГ©, jargon, slang, sexist and racist language, euphemisms, and doublespeak. ClichГ© is
what happens when a saying that once held great power has fallen into disuse. Due to repetition
all great sayings tend to lose their luster, just as a joke is hardly ever as funny as the first time it
was heard. One example of this is you ll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Though
there may be a valuable point here it is often lost because no one wants to catch flies and most
people are too caught up on the strangeness of the saying to truly consider the wisdom of its
message. Jargon is the language of academia or other groups that use vocabulary that is specific
to their particular area of expertise. The vast majority of the population are unfamiliar with this
range of vocabulary. Some people may try to use it in an attempt to sound more intelligent to lay
folk, though they will only manage to insult such an audience and possibly inspire hatred or
loathing. Medicine is a good example of where

The Catalonia And Spain Conflict
Catalonia, the Northeastern region of Spain, is engaged in a true and realistic conflict over gaining
sovereignty and independence from Spain. This conflict, which is rooted in Catalonian nationalism,
has been ongoing for years and has evolved significantly over time (Alexander, 2014). Since the
conquering of Cataloniamany centuries ago, the Catalonian people have worked resiliently to resist
the loss of their language and culture by struggling against assimilating to the common cultures,
laws, and language of its conqueror (Alexander, 2014). Throughout Spanish history, Catalonia has
employed different methods in achieving their goal of independence from Spain. The manifestation
of this conflict has taken the form of protests, laws, political parties, and certain acts of violence
which indicates the severity of it, the passion of its participants, and provides concrete evidence that
this conflict not only exists but is highly prevalent in Spanish history. The Catalonia and Spain
conflict has manifested itself in several different forms throughout the twentieth century. To begin
understanding the manifestation of the conflict, it is imperative to understand the scope in which
the conflict branches from. While it is apparent that the conflict is generally between Catalonia and
Spain, the scope in which this conflict reaches is spread within specific groups of the Catalonian
and Spanish population. According to Bolloten and Esenwein (2015) the scope of the Catalonia and

body. Three characteristics of this disorder are elevated serum levels of triglycerides, low

(1). Therapy has included statins, niacin treatment, and/or a combination of both. Extended release

Statins have been used to improve serum lipid levels, but are not effective on every lipid
subclass alone. Literature supports extended release niacin s effectiveness on improving lipid
subclass levels, additionally with statins, or alone. The studies in this review support such
evidence. Evidence supports combined niacin/statin treatment therapy significantly lowered LDL
cholesterol, triglycerides, alipoprotein a, and lipoprotein B, while raising HDL, and Lipoprotein
A 1. Evidence also showed that statins are, specifically, more effective in lowering LDL, VLDL,
lipoprotein B, and total cholesterol (10). Niacin, however, is more effective at increasing HDL
cholesterol, and alipoprotein a, when used alone (10). Another benefit of niacin was the effect it
had on lipoprotein particle size. Evidence from the studies showed that niacin and statin treatment
effectively increased both LDL C and HDL C particle size, while decreasing LDL C
concentration, and increasing HDL C concentration (3). Most of the participants in these studies
ages ranged from early adulthood through late adulthood, but dyslipidemia, and the effect of ER
niacin treatment can be effective for use at any age. Such niacin benefits induce cardio protective
measures, and help decrease coronary artery disease risk, and ultimately congestive heart failure.
ER Niacin has been shown to also to slow the progression of, and may promote the regression of
atherosclerosis in dyslipidemia patients on statin therapy (6). The safety of niacin was also
considered throughout each study. Overall, treatment therapy of niacin is considered safe, but the
flushing side effect contributed to participants withdrawing from study participation, especially
when administered high doses (1 2g). Overall, niacin and statins, can aid as dyslipidemia

Themes Of Just Mercy And All American Boys
Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson and All American Boys by Jason Reynolds are connected, not
only by their similar story lines but by the theme and moral lessons each book puts forward. Just
Mercy, A Story Of Justice And Redemption, is written from the viewpoint of Mr. Stevenson as he
goes through many people s cases trying to give them the justice they deserve. All American Boys
is the story of a young teenage boy who is beaten up by a cop because it is believed he is stealing a
bag of chips.
The first connection between the two novels is the moral lessons they try to teach the reader. There
are many lessons to be learned from these books from don t assume things, to friends and family
are extremely important. In Just mercy on page 40 Mr, Stevenson tells a story of him coming home

car, and came up behind me while the other officer continued to point the gun at me. He grabbed
me by the arms and pushed me up against the back of my car. The officer then lowered his
weapon. What are you doing out here? said the second officer, who seemed older than the one who
had drawn his weapon. this quote reminds me of the beginning of All American boys where Rashad

Thesis: The only true, accurate, and proven gospels are the original four gospels of Matthew, Mark,
Luke, and John, despite what other scholars and other fictitious gospels claim.
Main Ideas: In the early days of the church, there were four original gospels, the gospels of
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. It is estimated that the four gospels were written around 50 to 100

A Report From The Philippine Statistics Authority ( Psa )
Abstract
According to a report from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), by the year 2045, the
Philippine population is projected to increase to 142 million according to the latest 2010 Census
based population projections. Around 50 million people would be added in a span of 35 years.
This increase in numbers would take place even if the average annual growth rate is projected to
decline significantly, from 1.73 percent during 2010 2015 to 0.65 percent during 2040 2045. The
Philippine population grew by 1.9 percent annually during the decade 2000 2010.

Chapter I Introduction
Background of the Study Taguig City is one, if not the most, known city here in the National
Capital Region (NCR). Not just because of its business and other commercial districts but because
of its population growth rate (PGR) in relation to its land area or its population density.
The population of Taguig City is growing at a phenomenal rate. A Philippine Statistics Authority
(PSA) report on the population in the National Capital Region NCR showed that Taguig had
posted an average annual PGR of 4.32 percent from 2010 to 2015, exceeding Mandaluyong City
s 3.12 percent and Paranaque City s 2.39 percent. Taguig s average annual PGR from 2000 to
2010 of 3.26 percent had been the highest in the region. Its population grew to 805,000 as of
August 1 last year from 644,000 in 2010 and 467,000 in 2000.
In order to keep up with the demand of housing space and do so at an affordable rate, it is

The Ethical Use Of Animals In Ancient Chinese Art
Animals have been used in artwork all throughout history in order to demonstrate how a culture
progressed, and helped give meaning to certain creatures. These beasts have always been in
artwork since cave paintings, and were praised as gods in a wide range of cultures. At times they
were worshipped as deities themselves or just under the ranking of one. Chinese and Indian
artwork, both use animals in their own respected ways, and show different organisms with their
own power and metaphoric meaning. Animals in both cultures share similar ideals of status and
power, while also teaching citizens at how their civilization worked. Both countries depicted beasts
and mythical creatures in their own style, which was either more natural or abstract, and their
contrasts can be seen in how the people used the carving, and where it was installed.... Show more

In India, animals were used as religious idols and for demonstrating an element of power, or at
times even acting as a gatekeeper. Indian artwork, mostly used larger mammals, such as boars,
lions, and elephants in their sculptures because people recognized the iconography of these
creatures, and used that to their advantage to spread knowledge of Buddhism and Hinduism. China
with its horses, and other abstract mythical creatures were used in royal tombs for when they went
to the next life. They were used more as a status symbol, since horses were only for citizens in the
military and nobility. Through the use of different art styles and the intent of the artwork, Chinese
and Indian art of animals suggests that while these pieces were used for what religion and morals the
people believed in, they were used for different reasons, which gave them different cultural

The Nature In Crossing By Mark Slouka
The Nature is many things.
It s one of the realest places to be. The Nature won t lie to you or adjust the reality just so it will
please you. The Nature doesn t care, it does what it wants and then you d just have to deal with it.
It challenges you, forces you to face the reality and most important of all, it makes you confront
your deepest fears and get answers for questions, you didn t even know you had.
Crossing is a short story written by Mark Slouka. It s about a father, who s going on a field trip
with his son. The father has just been divorced and hasn t been happy for a long time, but the
nostalgia about the trip, which he also went on with his own father, and having to spend time with
his son, makes him feel happy.
The short story is told with a third person limited narrator and from the father s point of view. The
narrator is descriptive, the surroundings are all very well described, and there s both indirect and
direct speech throughout the story. The indirect speech is often used when the father thinks back on
conversations he had earlier in his life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trip the father and his son go on is out in the nature to a place, where the father seemed to
spend a lot of time when he was young and river crossing is a familiar activity of his. They had
to cross the river twice, on their way to the barn where they d camp and on their way home
again. The river plays a huge part in the story therefore it s important to understand its meaning
and significance. The Nature can reflect ones deepest fears and the father s fears takes form of the
river, where he later comes to face them. Firstly, the river makes him scared. It s been a long time
since he had last seen it. He remembered it differently, not as strong and big as it has come to be.
Well there she is, he said. (p.2, l.41) He refers to the river as she, he endowed the river with spirit
and as it s described, she s a very dangerous

The Story of Bob Marley, Women and their Children Essay
The Story of Bob Marley, Women and their Children
Introduction
The music genre of reggae has become indelibly linked with artist Bob Marley. To this day,
nearly two decades after his death from cancer, Bob s legacy lives on in his popular songs of
oppression, racial strife and resistance. Yet, his heritage is also carried on by the people who he
touched. Like any rock star, famed musician or celebrity, women surrounded him wherever he went.
That Bob was not a one woman man was common knowledge, says Don Taylor, though Bob had
been married to Rita Anderson throughout his climb to the top rungs of the musical ladder (Taylor).
The purpose of this paper is to explore the details of Bob s marriage to Rita, his longstanding
relationship with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bob was said to be very strict with the trio, which consisted of Rita, her cousin Constantine Dream
Walker, and Marlene Precious Gifford, to the point where the group came to dislike him (White).
Much to Rita s dismay however, Bunny pointed out that Bob was in love with her. Soon after, Bob
started sending her love notes. Rita was confused by this display of emotion since Bob held a strict
air in public. She approached him with her confusion, and the result was a two hour long discussion
that brought the two closer together.
During one discussion, Bob explained his night visions of duppies, or ghosts, to Rita.
Because the girl vehemently disbelieved him, he invited her to stay with him in his bed to witness
the apparitions. Rita accepted the offer, and did indeed witness the specters Bob had so accurately
described, but a sexual relationship was not consummated at that time (White).
By then, Rita was still living with her stern aunt. But that didn t prevent Rita from offering her
lover a place to stay. Bob accepted, though he was forced to sneak in after her cousin went to
sleep and leave before anyone awoke. Furthermore, Bob had to share a bed with Rita and her
cousin, and be careful not to awake Sharon, whose crib remained close to the bed. Eventually,
Viola discovered the nocturnal happenings between the lovers. Thinking that Bob could act as
Sharon s father figure, Viola invited Bob to live with Rita in a shed behind the house.

Greece And Its Relationship With The Eurozone
Greece and its relationship with the Eurozone
Victor Kasik
International Economics
This paper will provide a brief history of Greece and reviews the modern day problems that may
force Greece out of the Eurozone. Indeed, history is being made on a daily basis as the prospect of
a Greek exit would steer both the nation and the Eurozone into uncharted territory. This is a
cautionary tale about economic and political unification, the advantages and disadvantages of
giving up sovereign rights to a common cause, and the impact of cultural differences in trying to
solve mutual problems.
Modern day Greece is a nation with 10.8 million people, and is the 15th largest economy in the 28
member European Union. As of 2013, the GDP of Greece was... Show more content on

With the collapse of the junta the nation returned to its democratic roots and Greece became a
Parliamentary Republic.
In the years following WWII, Greece began to identify itself more as a Western European nation
than as a Balkan state. The economic integration of the European states began in 1951 with the
creation of the European Coal and Steel Community between Germany and France. This agreement
helped to bury the hatchet between these two former enemies, and served as a blueprint going
forward in lowering trade barriers, implementing common tariffs on imports from outside nations
and increasing cooperation among European countries. These efforts resulted in the establishment
of the European Economic Community in 1957. As old hostilities faded, Europe began to see itself
more as a cohesive unit of interrelated economic and political systems and provided a united front
against the economic power of the United States on one side, and the threat of communism on the
other side.
For example, France and Germany, once bitter enemies, made the decision to link their currencies in
response to what they considered to be the opportunistic economic policies of the United States. By
doing this, it hastened the collapse of the Bretton Woods agreement and allowed European countries
to float their currencies. This also allowed countries to

Discrimination In Canad Poem Analysis
Her daughter faces discrimination because of her color from the Japs, big white boys who are
enemies of Canada. They were chasing her and she ran off to the woods.
It shifts to her mother s past in the fourth line. I was eight years old and the Japs were. The poem
shifts to a time when the mother was young and still a girl and when the Japs were in Canada.
I think the poem is symbolic of the place they currently live and she assures her daughter not to
fear because there are no people who will scare them in Saskatoon, their new home.
This is because the citizen apparently did good to his country. He was found in the Bureau of
Statistics and this means his details were there including his name. It then is ironic that his identity
remains

  • 2. Franco Zefferelli s Romeo and Juliet and Baz Luhrmann s... The astounding perils of young love has been eloquently captured in the story of Romeo and Juliet. Franco Zefferelli and Baz Luhrmann are the creators of the two most renowned film adaptations of William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. Zefferelli, the more traditional director, created his Oscar winning version in 1968. Baz Luhrmann put an abstract, modern twist on Shakespeare s classic and created the 1996 version that raised millions of dollars in box office sales. Being that these two films are so different, I have chosen to compare them to one another, using the famed balcony sceneas my focus. In the Franco Zefferelli adaptation, proceeding the extravagant Capulet party, Romeo walks down a dark stone path alone with his very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She vocalizes her love and adoration for Romeo, not knowing that every word she speaks falls upon his ears. Unable to contain his elation about what he has just heard, Romeo leaps from the darkness below the balcony, abruptly startling Juliet. She retreats towards the doorway of her room, feeling violated and unsure about Romeo s presence. She appears angry because of their families hatred towards eachother. The interaction between them is forbidden, so she turns towards the her room, ready to leave, until she is halted by Romeo s confession. If given the opportunity, he would choose to deny the Montague name so that he may share his life with her. Surprised, Juliet returns to where Romeo awaits her. During this scene, the soft light continually falls upon Juliet s angelic face, yet Romeo predominantly remains in the darkness, shadowed. This may reference the goodness of the Capulets and the supposed evilness of the Montagues from Juliet s standpoint. The camera is also pointed up during this scene when directed towards Juliet, yet pointed down when directed towards Romeo. Zefferelli may have used these camera angles to show that Juliet is considered someone Romeo admires although he is considered a lesser man by the Capulet family. As the scene continues, Juliet explains to Romeo the consequences of them being caught together, and as she sadly and amorously gazes at him, he hides behind a tree branch to protect himself. Juliet moves to a dark ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With an estimated 11.7 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. today, immigration reform has been a volatile issue that hasn t been adequately addressed throughout the 21st century. With the last major overhaul occurring in 1986, when over 3 million immigrants were granted U.S. citizenship, politicians are saying another major overhaul is needed to address the newer generation of illegal immigrants. Legislations including the Border Protection, Anti terrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006, and the DREAM act of 2012 have all tried to address the depressing need for immigration reform but have failed due to lack of bipartisan support. Still, political leaders urge for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main reasons include the close proximity between the two countries and the vast difference in the quality of life. For most, getting a job at minimum wage provides a much higher standard of living from what they came from. They are just looking for better jobs and economics opportunities to support their families that they cannot find in their home country. The average wage in Mexico is about $4.15 with those in the agricultural industries making even less. 40% of the Mexican population is under the poverty line, and 25% of workers are underemployed. With such disastrous numbers, many Mexicans find the U.S. to be extremely attractive. Flight attendants instruct passengers, in the event of a loss of cabin pressure, to put an oxygen mask on yourself before you try to help your children or other passengers. The same goes for the U.S. and illegal immigrants. With massive amounts of poverty, unemployment, and debt in the U.S., the U.S. must deal with its own problems before it helps others. The federal government has spent $186.8 billion on immigration enforcement since 1986 that has not helped keep illegal immigrants out of the U.S. Illegal immigration continues to be a burden on taxpayers through direct benefits, public education, and population based services. • 4. Old Chillingworth In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter The Scarlet Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a book written about the punishment of bearing the cost of Adultery. This features the leading character, Hester Prynne, letting the reader see her as a symbol of courage and how the effect of a single letter can have on one s life. Hester Prynne and her lover have too many problems in the result of the letter, with one, of course, being the vengeful pursuit of her husband, Roger Chillingworth. Hester s betrayal sparks Chillingworth s nature as the antagonists in the story, with his desire for revenge and his self inflicted moral deterioration. His keen attributes, combined with his madness, results in the novel s main idea of the consequences of sin. This leaves Old Chillingworth s as being a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This gives him the chance to interact with Hester on good terms, but that is quickly neutralized when his kindness was due to luring out the truth. His rise to fame in the town assigns him to the dimming Reverend, Arthur Dimmesdale. His villainy, in this case, enhances the plot by placing Dimmesdale right in the lion s den; leaving Chillingworth to be able to poke and prod at Dimmesdale conscience, a strategy that Dimmesdale did not notice. His torment of the already weak Reverend shows his twisted mentality and lack of human remorse, which eventually is the downfall of Arthur Dimmesdale and the doctor himself. Chillingworth s actions towards the Reverend is revealed when his true colors are exposed by the light given off of the meteor. Now his presence stands for the confirmation that he is an evil man and the continuation of torturing the Rev. though now it is going to be physical damage rather than his spiritual self. His descent into madness is characterized by his outward appearance that is noticeable by both Hester and the townspeople, At first his expression had been calm, meditative, scholar like. Now there was something ugly and evil in his face, which they had not previously noticed, and which still grew more obvious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Farm Descriptive Essay The Farm Awakens The arrival of the six children wearing wrinkled clothes and half shut eyes ironically revived the empty ranch and brought life back into each and every crevice. The rusty gates creaked as they swung open, revealing the world of tall grass and herds of cattle hidden deep in the hills of Nevada. Two cars, filled to capacity, rolled up the dusty, dirt road leaving behind all sense of civilization. They arrived at night. Thousands of white lights illuminated the sky normally blanketed by the bright streets back home. The air smelled and felt fresh. The eerie quiet hid the sleeping animals, but because of the grinding gravel and anxious screams of joy, the children s noise bounced between the mountain sides and awoke the farm. Both cars parked in front of the white picket fence lining the house and duffle bags dumped out the back of the SUV s filled with sweaters, toiletries, pants, blankets and pretty much anything else they could fit. The strong, stocky fathers slung the bags over their shoulders and brought them inside, turned on the lights, and the outside world was forgotten as they admired the inside of their home for the week. When the door opened, 5 pairs of boots stomped inside, shuffling their feet along the thick, bristly rug that read Welcome Home! . As their heads revolved around the room, Dylan and Grace, the two oldest, led the pack of children naively glancing past the cowhide rugs and rustic furniture the parents admired. Meanwhile, Jack created a new me to improve his life and the dissatisfied world, but Taylor controlled Jack s life, in other words, Jack fell into a world which is created by others, he seems has a normal life but was bound by life. In fact, Jack and Taylor are the same one because Taylor is another personality which is the idealism personality of Jake, but Jack is a weak materialist, and Taylor is a powerful idealist. Jack killed the Taylor, so he destroyed the Utopia, and ultimately return to real world. On the other hand, Pink Floyd s album The Wallalso reflect similar idea. The whole album has a clear story line, there are several songs, which is Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 1, 2 , Mother , and Empty Spaces , talk about something happened in Pink such as Pink s father s dead, overprotective mother, tormented at school, and wife s betrayed which created the wall and isolated Pink from the outside; however, the wall is not all created by external factors, Loneliness is like a spiritual wall as a invisible limitation, and the wall is accumulated by all stages of life, which is not transferred by individual will. • 10. Certainty In The Crucible Flip Flopping In the prompt provided, I refute the idea that an absolute sense of certainty accomplishes virtually anything, because having no further input on an issue means it could be biased or wrong. Especially in politics, I believe that you can t always believe everything has a definite answer, you must see both sides on an issue and address it from there. Examples of this can be shown through Max Born s philosophy, the history of Adolf Hitler, and The Crucible . Therefore, I support the idea of flip flopping being a negative attribute, because a leader must address all sides of a situation and gather information before he sides with his supporters. They should not choose a side solely based on their follower s opinion. In the article... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the town of Salem, Massachusetts, people were too afraid to confess their sins, so they blamed them on others. They accused others of witchcraft in order to get vengeance. It was a toxic town. The judge, Danforth, firmly believed that witchcraft was real, and refused to take any other input from his fellow town members on what could be the cause of it. Due to his absolute sense of certainty on this issue, he sent hundreds of men and women to be hanged for witchcraft. He felt a sense of leadership to keep Salem from going insane, so he fed into their beliefs and did what he thought would earn peace and a following. A quote from Danforth in the play supports my argument. Now hear me, and beguile yourselves no more. I will not receive a single plea for pardon or postponement. Them that will not confess will hang. Twelve are already executed; the names of these seven are given out, and the village expects to see them this morning. These owners also do not care about the women because the owners can go out and just purchase another slave. The women are used and abused then when the owners do not want them anymore they get rid of the women. Then the owners go out and get another female and the vicious cycle continues over and over again until the owners are satisfied. How could a person take an innocent child and sell him/her to someone who is just going to hurt them? This is the part that I cannot wrap my mind around. Yes, some children are annoying but, no child deserves to be taken away and sold. Children are people they should not be treated as items or things that can be easily replaced. Although, some may say it s impossible to identify and relate to various cultures Trevor Noah proved them wrong. He says, My color didn t change, but I could change your perception of my color (Noah 56). Trevor Noah used language and behavior tactics to become a cultural chameleon. Just like Trevor Noah, is able to adapt to his environment and culture; a chameleon is able to change its color to merge into his environment, as well. For example, Noah was fluent in many languages and that became one of his strongest tools. Noah explains If you spoke to me in Zulu, I replied to you in Zulu... Maybe I didn t look like you, but if I spoke like you, I am you (Noah 56). Language is a powerful tool used to unite various strangers to comfortable acquaintances. Apartheid knew this and part of the effort to divide black people was to make sure we were separated not just physically but by language as well (Noah 49) to further racism. Throughout Trevor Noah s life, he learned to use the tool of language to his benefit. Furthermore, Noah used his abilities to blend in during life endangering situations. For example, one day Noah overheard a group of Zulu guys plotting to mug this white guy. Speaking Zulu, Noah was able to turn around and say Yo, guys, why don t we just mug someone together (Noah 55). The fact that Noah was able to speak Zulu, it saved him from an unfortunate experience. The boys realized he was just like one of them and decided not to harm him. Additionally, Noah and his mother was able to get out of a sticky situation in a store, because his mother was able to speak Afrikaans (Noah 55). Essay about The Stalinist Terror and Sofia Petrovna In the book Sofia Petrovna, the author Lydia Chukovskaya writes about Sofia Petrovna and her dreadful experiences as a widowed mother during the Russian Stalinist Terror of the 1930s. There were four basic results of the Russian Stalinist Terror: first, it was a way of keeping people in order; second, it kept Stalin in power and stopped revolutions from forming, made people work harder to increase the output of the economy, and separated families as well as caused deaths of many innocent people due to false charges. Stalin and his mass media propaganda persuade Timofeyev into taking part in the terror, resulting Timoteyev s belief that what Stalin is doing is the best for the Russian country. The terror stopped revolutions from forming because whatever groups Stalin didn t agree with he could simply arrest the members of that group. In Timofeyev s editorial Sofia is siding with a Natasha, Natasha is thought to be a revolutionary, because Natasha wasn t said to be loyal to the communist regime, and therefore Sofia is accused of siding with a sabotager or revolutionary. The terror also kept people working harder to increase the output of the economy. • 22. Closing The Gap Analysis I. Introduction In Australia, Closing the Gap has become a key focus in the way governments have decided to address indigenous inequality. The term closing the gap can be traced back to policy introduced in New Zealand in the 1990s aimed at addressing inequality in MДЃori communities. Governments in both Australia and New Zealand have tried to bridge perceived gaps between these Indigenous groups and the rest of society particularly in relation to gaps in socioeconomic status. However such policies may be problematic as they tend to ignore issues of self determination and sovereignty sought by Indigenous groups (Cornell 2006:9 10; Muldoon Schaap 2012:535). Ignoring claims of self determination and sovereignty may be indicative of ongoing divisions in settler states working to accommodate the needs and outcomes of Indigenous groups given the undercurrent of conflictual and often violent histories that mar the relations between the two groups. As such, this essay seeks to compare these policies regarding inequalities between Indigenous societies and their settler states, as well as the relevant contexts of these policies, in order to highlight issues that emerge in relation to indigenous claims for sovereignty and concepts of nationalism. The issue with closing the gap policies is that such initiatives seek to unite or assimilate indigenous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The unemployment rates for Whites are 4.5 percent, which is lower than the national average. But sadly the unemployment rates for minorities are much higher. According to bls.gov the rate for unemployment for African Americans is 8.3 percent; although this number is the lowest it has been since 2007, theirs is still higher than the national average. The unemployment rate for Mexican Americans (Hispanics) is 6.3 percent and for Asian Americans is 4.0 percent. This shows that overall African Americans still have higher unemployment than every other demographic since December 2016. The unemployment rate is measured by a division of the Department of Labor known as the Bureau of Labor Statistics (bls.gov). This government agency conducts a monthly survey called the Current Population Survey that involves 60,000 households. These households are selected using random sampling methods designed to generate as close an approximation as possible to the larger population. Unemployment occurs mostly when someone who is actively searching for employment is unable to find work. But however people without a job are not necessarily unemployed according to bls.gov. In spite of the fact that his verse shapes are old style, he was an innovator in the interaction of meter and rhyme and in the wonderful utilization of the vocabulary and emphases of how everybody speaks today. His work is full of nature and is very touching. Two of Robert Lee Frosts supreme and popular poems that I will be working with are The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on A Snowy Evening . In the poems Road not taken and Stopping by woods on a snowy evening Robert Frostexplains that both depict how to take choices in life a circumstance where he needs to pick between two ways in that will affect his life forever. In The Road Not Taken the writer in the sonnet is voyaging and comes at the spot from where the road is isolated into two. Here he needs to choose which way he needs to go for eventual fate of his life. The goals of both pathways are obscure. Yet, the poet needs to pick one of them as he can t choose both roads at once. Utilizing yellow wood (line 1) as a representative signal to seniority moving toward quick, his definitive decision will endure for what he will have to live with for the rest of his life. Moving toward older age comes with the acknowledgment of the truth, it s an ideal opportunity to say goodbye to dreams and expectations. Then took the other, as just as fair and having perhaps the better claim (line 6 7). The poet appears to be indecisive here. But, he has settled on a choice, he is still constantly thinking about it. On the outline, both roads strike as comparative, with no apparent difference. As a result, his absence of activity and uncertainty causes him enormous distress and delay. Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back (line 14 15). The poet endeavors to persuade himself with little achievement, verging on daydreaming. He induces himself that if one road ends up being unsatisfactory, he would have the capacity to offer reparation and pick the other road. In any case, looking back, he s completely mindful that his decision will impact him in his later years ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many famous celebrities act inappropriately in the public eye. Since they re so famous, if they do anything that should be considered wrong, no one really thinks of it as a mistake. It is through our ability to understand and convey thoughts that we are able to cooperate for the good of our community, whether it be local or global. Because communication holds so much power it must also be used with care. If used unwisely, communication has the ability to destroy relationships and make cooperation impossible. The six barriers of communication will be discussed in the following paragraphs and they are clichГ©, jargon, slang, sexist and racist language, euphemisms, and doublespeak. ClichГ© is what happens when a saying that once held great power has fallen into disuse. Due to repetition all great sayings tend to lose their luster, just as a joke is hardly ever as funny as the first time it was heard. One example of this is you ll catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Though there may be a valuable point here it is often lost because no one wants to catch flies and most people are too caught up on the strangeness of the saying to truly consider the wisdom of its message. Jargon is the language of academia or other groups that use vocabulary that is specific to their particular area of expertise. Bob was said to be very strict with the trio, which consisted of Rita, her cousin Constantine Dream Walker, and Marlene Precious Gifford, to the point where the group came to dislike him (White). Much to Rita s dismay however, Bunny pointed out that Bob was in love with her. Soon after, Bob started sending her love notes. Rita was confused by this display of emotion since Bob held a strict air in public. She approached him with her confusion, and the result was a two hour long discussion that brought the two closer together. During one discussion, Bob explained his night visions of duppies, or ghosts, to Rita. Because the girl vehemently disbelieved him, he invited her to stay with him in his bed to witness the apparitions. Rita accepted the offer, and did indeed witness the specters Bob had so accurately described, but a sexual relationship was not consummated at that time (White). By then, Rita was still living with her stern aunt. But that didn t prevent Rita from offering her lover a place to stay. Bob accepted, though he was forced to sneak in after her cousin went to sleep and leave before anyone awoke. Furthermore, Bob had to share a bed with Rita and her cousin, and be careful not to awake Sharon, whose crib remained close to the bed. Eventually, Viola discovered the nocturnal happenings between the lovers. Thinking that Bob could act as Sharon s father figure, Viola invited Bob to live with Rita in a shed behind the house. ... With the collapse of the junta the nation returned to its democratic roots and Greece became a Parliamentary Republic. In the years following WWII, Greece began to identify itself more as a Western European nation than as a Balkan state. The economic integration of the European states began in 1951 with the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community between Germany and France. This agreement helped to bury the hatchet between these two former enemies, and served as a blueprint going forward in lowering trade barriers, implementing common tariffs on imports from outside nations and increasing cooperation among European countries. These efforts resulted in the establishment of the European Economic Community in 1957. As old hostilities faded, Europe began to see itself more as a cohesive unit of interrelated economic and political systems and provided a united front against the economic power of the United States on one side, and the threat of communism on the other side. For example, France and Germany, once bitter enemies, made the decision to link their currencies in response to what they considered to be the opportunistic economic policies of the United States. By doing this, it hastened the collapse of the Bretton Woods agreement and allowed European countries to float their currencies. This also allowed countries to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
