Compare And Contrast Ronald Reagan And The Conservatives
Ronald Reagan is a different kind of conservative compared to the conservatives of the roaring
twenties because he brought up the fact that the government had trouble balancing their budget and
they were spending money they did not have to spend. And he also brought up that the reliance of
policy elites to prescribe social solutions. He thought that the percentage of GDP that the
government was taking from the economy was worrisome. Reagan did his best to fix government
spending. During his presidency, the recession ended. Reagan accepted the active state. He
believed that the government was lazy, and something needed to be done about it. Reagan was for
the active state; previous conservatives were against it. Previous conservatives were

Martin Luther King I have a dream
The speech I am going to analyse is called I have a dream . The speech is written by Martin
Luther King Jr. Martin Luther King was a Baptist minister and social activist, who led the Civil

Martin Luther King wrote the speech on the occasion of the centenary of the Lincoln Emancipation

Caucasian population of America. The purpose of the speech was to enlighten people about a

The Illinois State Board Of Education
As schools in Illinois transition to the new Common Core State Standards (CCSS), the Illinois State
Board of Education (ISBE) has taken steps to provide districts with resources to aid in this
transition. ISBE has created five foundational services with the goal of creating educational
continuity throughout the state, from Rockford to Cairo. These five foundational services include
continuous improvement planning, balanced assessment, teacher evaluation, new Illinois learning
standards for mathematics, and new Illinois learning standards for English Language Arts (ELA).
Our district began transitioning to the CCSS a few years ago. In doing so, we took some

Our local ROE recently offered a two day professional development workshop focused on the
new Illinois learning standards for English Language Arts. This workshop provided an overview
of nine ELA shift kits. These kits are provided by ISBE to aid classroom teachers in the shift to
the CCSS. For this evaluation of a reading program, I have chosen to evaluate the usefulness of
these ELA shift kits and my school s familiarity with these ELA shifts. Components of Evaluation
To begin my evaluation, I wanted to find out what my teaching peers already knew about the
ELA shift kits. I was also curious as to overall knowledge of our school s focus on literacy and our
student s literacy needs. Therefore, I created a needs assessment to collect this information. I
distributed to the needs assessment to our high school teachers and staff, which is twenty three total
members, not including myself. These members consist of eighteen teachers, two classroom aides,
one guidance counselor, and two building administrators. The needs assessment consists of eleven
total questions. The first nine questions employed a rating scale of 1 through 5. Question ten asked
participants to choose one of the nine ELA shift kits on which they d like to receive more
information. Finally, question eleven asked teachers to rate our school s progress on creating

Ildefonso Recommendation
I have known Ildefonso for over 4 years. As the Chairman and Founder of the Be A Leader
Foundation, I have the pleasure of working with and mentoring many young people who
participate in our programs. In fact, Ildefonso has been a member of our high school and college
program. As his mentor and academic advisor, I am proud to call him a Be A Leader Scholar!
Ildefonso has proven to be a servant leader since his high school days. From day one, he had
committed himself to going to college and inspiring his peers on campus to become college
bound, focused and prepared. He has been committed to getting all of his peers excited about
attending college and has proven his abilities as a leader on and off the campus. For example,
Ildefonso decided to take a leadership role and start the first Be A Leader Club on his campus.

Ildefonso as being in the top ten percent of scholastically capable individuals. He will continue to
excel academically, professionally, personally and civically. In addition, I include him as a peer
to many of our Be A Leader Scholars who has gone on to obtain an Ivy League graduate degree.

The Giver Personal Response Essay
Can you imagine not having any emotions or not being able to express your feelings to one
another? In Lois Lowry s book, The Giver, Jonas and his utopian community don t have any
memories or emotions. When Jonas was chosen to be the receiver, at the ceremony of twelves, he
receives all the memories that none of the community will understand. The Giver transfers
memories to Jonas like color, love, and pain. Throughout receiving memories, Jonas starts to
question the people that don t have these things, and this is where the theme Life without emotions
is not a life worth living comes into play. Throughout the this novel, the most common topic is
being released. Being released means that you will receive a lethal injection causing you to... Show

After Jonas receives a memory of Christmas and love, he figured that his parents would love him
just like in the memory. Another line from the novel is, Do you love me? ... Then father gave a
little chuckle. Jonas. You, of all people. Precision of language, please! ... Do you understand why
it is inappropriate to use a word like love ? ( ) Mother asked. Jonas was in awe because he would
ve expected a meaningful answer. This line matters because if the community did have emotion
they would answer something like, Yes! Of course I do. I love you to the moon and back. In this
utopian community, there are birth mothers instead of traditional parents who fall in love. If this
idealistic community had emotion, there would be no birthmothers. Since Jonas has feelings, he
thought that love was the best feeling in the whole world. Throughout the this whole novel it was
clear that the community had no feelings or emotion. So, the theme Life without emotions is not a
life worth living really shines through The Giver. At the end of the novel, the Giver and Jonas
made plan. The plan was that Jonas had to leave the community and everyone will receive all the
memories that Jonas has. What do think everyone would do if suddenly the people in your
community started to have no emotions? Would they be lost like Jonas s community if they didn t

How Did Woody Indians Influence Society In The 1930 s
If I walked up to a person today they most likely wouldn t know who John Steinbeck, Will Rogers
or Woody Guthrie is. In the 1930s, this was a different story. Everybody knew who they were in
the 30 s. Steinbeck, Guthrie, and Rogers were famous for their work considering the Great
Depression. The Great Depression was caused by the Stock Market Crash of 1929. Will Rogers,
Woody Guthrie, and John Steinbeckall influenced society in the 30 s by providing a means of
diversion for the common man.
In the 1930 s the people of America turned to John Steinbeck to understand and relate to the
hardships of the Depression. John Steinbeck was most famous for writing Of Mice and Men which
references the Great Depression. Another one of his novels is about the Great Depression, it is
called The Grapes of Wrath. The Grapes of Wrath was about the lack of jobs, food, and money in
Oklahoma. The trials that the people went through were scary. People from all over the country
read The Grapes of Wrath. The Story of Oklahoma states that sophisticated New Yorkers had
heard about Okies, and many had read John Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath (Baird 340). This

The Chesapeake Bay
Scene in Fig. 1.1., the Chesapeake Bay is substantial in size; at roughly 64,000 miles, it contains
roughly fifty rivers and thousands of streams and creeks. It encompasses parts of 6 states,
including all of Washington, DC. The Chesapeake Bay is what is known as a watershed, an area
that contributes to the drainage to a water body, stream, river, lake or ocean. Rainwater that falls
within the 64,000 square miles that is the Chesapeake Baywill subsequently travel through many
streams and rivers, eventually making its way into the largest estuarysystem in the United States.
The Estuary System
An estuary system is the resulting collisions of sweet and salt fresh river water flowing seaward
and ocean water inland. It is an aquatic system where salt and freshwater are constantly mixing. An
estuary system is one of most active systems of the planet; it is a hybrid system that contains the
best and worst qualities of the ocean, river, and lake systems it conglomerates. Estuaries are unique
in nature because of their ability to be the most productive ecosystem on the entire planet; humans
have attempted and failed to reach the productivity that estuaries naturally grant. There productivity
lies it the constant change that occurs from the conflicting flows of fresh and ocean water. Ocean
and freshwater are measured largely based on salinity, or the level of parts of salt per thousand.
Ocean water usually has around 35 parts per thousands of salt water, while freshwater

So as to make a genuine estate investment, you should gauge the risk involved. By managing

Social Skills Analysis
Analysis I decided to do my school counseling core curriculum lesson plan on social skills for

a person can learn in their life time. Good social skills can go a long way. Social skills are
important to teach at an early age. The ages between 5 and 12 are critical to a child s social
development (social skills). Social development is taught by parents as well as teachers. Children
also learn social skills on their own when they interact with other. Knowing what social skills are is
very important. According to Lynch Social skills are behaviors that promote positive inter action

The Effects Of Birth Control And Abortion
On March 2, 1873, the Comstock Act was passed which forbade the sending through the mails of
any drug or medicine or any article whatever for the prevention of conception (Case Western
University, 2010). Although this act did not focus on fertility, it remained as a statute for birth
control. Birth control and abortion were both considered obscenities (Case Western University,
2010). The Comstock Laws declared family planning and contraception illegal and obscene
(Planned Parenthood Federation of America, 2014).
In 1916 Margaret Sanger, her sister, and a friend, opened the first Birth Control Clinic in Brooklyn,
New York (Planned Parenthood Federation of America, 2014). According to the Planned
Parenthood Federation of America (2014), Margaret Sanger witnessed the sickness, misery, and
death that result from unwanted pregnancy and illegal abortion . Her mother was one of those
women who had endured eighteen pregnancies, raised eleven children, and passed away at the age
of 40 (Planned Parenthood Federation of America, 2014). It was already a difficult era for women.
During this time, women did not have many rights. They were not allowed to vote, sign contracts,
have bank accounts, or divorce abusive husbands (Planned Parenthood Federation of America,
2014). The clinic provided contraceptive advice to poor, immigrant women, until police raided it
and the three women were convicted of disseminating birth control information (Planned
Parenthood Federation of America, 2014).

How Does Chimpanzees Use Language
Can animals learn to use language or is it all a load of monkey business? Animals can not use
language because language is an exclusive skill that belongs to humans. Chimpanzees can
communicate with each other, but that doesn t qualify as language. One type of Chimpanzee is
learning in a laboratory, however, they are only learning simplistic symbols.
One reason why Chimps communicate but don t use language is they can be trained since birth, but
they still won t be able to communicate with the complexity level that humans do. Kanzi the
Bonobo learned 348 symbols at the age of 26 which is the equivalent 3,000 English words. Even if
animals could use a language they could very well not be able to speak clearly because of their

The Importance Of A Sunday School Class

Who
Ten children aged between the age of three and eight years.
One teacher (me), having experience with early childhood education after being a voluntary helping
teacher in a kindergarten class.
Parents: All of the children have Jewish parents who always consult me after every Sunday school
class to check on the general progress of their children
Education director: he provides the required curriculum and guides me on how and what to teach
the children. He gives me the way forward in each and every problem that I encounter.
Problem
Amongst the ten children, there is an eight year old boy who has a hearing problem. At first I had
not known about his condition but continued assessment on him made me realize it. The boy
struggles to talk; he cannot pronounce most words in the right way. When spoken to, he does
not respond and seems not to notice that someone is talking to him. He always asks me to repeat
the things that I say to him, and when I call his name away from him, he searches around trying
to figure out where the voice came from. He rarely participates in the class and is always dull and
withdrawn to himself. I asked his parents about his condition, and they said they were aware of it,
and they wanted me to assist them in helping the little boy.

parents would hate for their children to watch Raw because of the heavy reliance on sex appeal,

thousands of innocent dogs living in inhumane conditions that are unfit for healthy substance. They

commonly known chains. There are so many ways everyone can help stop this trend. Stop
buying dogs, and start adopting them. 2 million puppies are born each year in puppymills while

The Significance of the Open-Source Act and Linux Essay
The Significance of the Open Source Act and Linux
In the 1980 s hardly anyone knew what a DOS attack was, most people hadn t ever seen a

very expensive, but was a very strong Operating System. Because of the price of equipment, many
people wouldn t get into computers, but there was no reason to. Nothing of great significance was
stored on computers.
By 1985, computers hit the mainstream, providing many universities with links to each other and
their libraries. This all came along with the invention of the Internet. Suddenly there was a great

Before long, every hacker and their brother knew how to find a big error in the Unix code on any
server. They exploited the servers with many different attacks, mostly being troublesome for no
reason. Phone lines and networks were taken down left and right, and many devices came about
to help deal with the phone system. Many phreakers had developed boxes, named by color, that
would do things to the phone network, just by holding it up to the reciever to play recorded
tones. There was the red box: A box that could get you free long distance calls. There was a beige
box: A box that would make any calls you made untraceable by the FBI or Mamma Bell, a
nickname for the Owner of Packard Bell, a large phone company.
With the growth of the hackers, many new ways of protecting your systems had to come about.
Routers, firewalls, and many other types of security precautions came about. They prevented many
hackers from breaking in, but all it took is one to find a way around, and everyone would know.
But with the FBI and Mamma Bell handing out arrest warrants left and right, many hackers gave up
on their former lifestyles.
For the companies and the government, everything was taking a turn for the best, until 1996. In

Lack in opportunity or even the capacity to better improve skills and extent of training is a factor

Civil Rights Activist Rosa Parks
If I could be one person from the 20th Century for a day, it would be Civil Rights Activist Rosa

Consequently, her actions led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott where the bus companies loss a
tremendous amount of their profits. I would be Ms. Parks because I find her actions worthy for
me to experience; she believed in justice and equality. Therefore, by fighting for her beliefs, she

Bad Character In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
Not everything is how it seems. Even though we see a murderer on the lose for being the bad
character , is he really the only one? A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Connor is a
multiple prospective story featuring the good and the bad. This entire dysfunctional family does not
get along, from the younger children talking back, to even the dad and the mom not being
interested in anything. But the one who stands out the most is the pessimistic grandmother who is
extremely self absorbed. Then there is the Misfit, a murderer who escaped jail. But with all that
being said, who really seems like the bad character in this story. The obvious Misfit, the abrogating
grandmother or the whole family? Despite the family not getting along in the beginning, during the
end they died reunited leaving the grandmother as a dark forest compared to her family s sunny
cloudless day.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
None of them got along from arguing all day to never agreeing on anything, but it was clear that
the grandmother was the odd one out. When thinking of a grandmother you may expect them to
be joyful and ecstatic. However, this was not the case with this grandmother, she could not even
settle on a place to go for vacation, let alone just being happy for once. Later in the story, the
murderer on the loose, the Misfit had the family go into the dark forest and had the grandmother
stand out in the cloudless sunny day. It symbolized the grandmother s personality as if it came to
the light . Oddly, he seemed to be the only one that caught on to her relentless act of being pure ,
She would have been a good woman ... if it had been somebody there to shoot her every minute of
her life (O Connor, 242). In other words, this is ironic coming from a murderer talking about an old
lady. Nonetheless, it does make someone think twice about her authenticity and who she may really

Power Of Six
The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore is the second book in this series which began with I Am
Number Four. This is a classic story of good fighting against evil, but on a galactic scale. It tells
the unbelievable journey of ten alien Lorien children (called Garde) hidden from ferocious alien
hunters called Mogadorians, who are determined to eliminate this special race from growing up.
The Mogadorians have used up their own planetary resources and are now expanding outward,
seeking more resources to sustain them. Lorien, the closest planet is their first target. In an effort
to save the Lorien race, nine children entrusted with powers of the elders (called Legacies) are sent

The story takes time to remind the reader about specifics of the first book. Seven (Marina)
describes the familiar feeling she experiences when she looks at John s (Four) image, while
reading breaking news, I scroll back to John s image, and when my gaze meets his, my hands
begin to shake. His eyes even in this sketch there s something familiar about them. Nobody can
convince me now that he isn t one of the six remaining Garde, still alive in this foreign world. I
was reminded of the battle at John s high school, and the terrorism cover up. Their struggles to
stay alive made me want to read the book at one sitting. Reading Sam s objection to swimming
across the freezing water to escape from the Tennessee police, I could imagine what the setting
might look like, how cold the water might feel, and how afraid Sam seemed, What? John, do you
understand what happens to the human body when it s in freezing water? Cardiac arrest from
shock, for one. And if that doesn t kill you, then the loss of feeling in your arms and legs will
make it impossible to swim. We ll freeze and drown. And finally, the constant action moved the
story forward. When John (Four) meets up with Nine in the Mogadorian prison, he loses his
best friend Sam in the chaos. Soon after John says, The wind is knocked out of me; and when I
look up, I see Nine spitting blood out. He s grinning. John goes on to ask Nine, Are you crazy?
You re enjoying this? And from Nine s response, you can guess he is enjoying getting some
revenge on the Mogadorians, I ve been locked up for over a year. This is the best day of my life!
The constant theme throughout books 1 and 2 of the series is that these Garde never quit, they
never give up. These are great lessons for real

Ways Of Knowing
No knowledge can be produced by a single way of knowing. Discuss.
There are several ways to produce knowledge. Producing knowledge requires different beliefs to be
justified by different ways that we can acquire knowledge around us. Some of those ways of
knowing are reasoning, imagining, intuition, using our memory and faith, and they are mostly used
as combinations to support and complete each other to create a well guided whole knowledge. I
agree with the idea that no knowledge can be produced by a single way of knowing. Although a
knowledge seems to be produced by a single way of knowing, there is always another way of
knowing that is there, hidden somewhere, to support the other one. By stating no knowledge , it
means that there should be no exceptions, not even a single one so that all the situations should
prove this statement right. Using a single way of knowing should refer to the ways of knowing
which will be working in a complete isolation. Therefore we cannot consider a way of knowing,
which seems to work single but have the support of another one, as isolated because in that situation
this will be an exception to disprove the statement single . Also, once a counter argument manages
to confute the statement and show that knowledge can be produced by a single way of knowing,
there should be no more to discuss about because no knowledge means exactly none of the
situations. The reason why this title is worth to discuss is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Global Security Challenges Facing The United States Military
There will be significant global security challenges facing the United States Military by 2025. The
U.S will face multiple, coinciding security issues from state actors and regional networks all taking
full benefit of rapid science and technological changes. Three overlapping conflicts which has the
greatest potential to influence state and non state actors and forcethe Armed Forces to restructure

Biography of Thomas Jefferson
Third President of the United States of America.
Thomas Jefferson (1743 1826) was the third president of the United States and a creator of the
Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson was a philosopher, politician, scientist, architect,
inventor, musician, and writer. Thomas Jefferson was also one of the smartest leaders in history.
His father was named Peter Jefferson, a very rich Farmer from Virginia. Thomas s
Mother, Jane Randolph Jefferson, was part of the Randolph family. The Randolph Family was a
big part of Virginia history, and also very rich also. Peter and Jane Jefferson moved to Goochland

The marriage was happy, except Mrs. Jefferson s ill health. Of their six children, only two, both of
them girls, lived to maturity. Martha Jefferson died in 1782. The death of his wife had a profound
effect on Jefferson and probably influenced his return to politics, which Thomas Jefferson had
considered leaving.
On June 21, 1775, Jefferson took his seat in Congress. The following summer, Jefferson sat in
Congress as an elected delegate, not as an alternate. It was at this session that Thomas Jefferson
wrote his most famous document, the Declaration of Independence. On July 4, 1776, the
Declaration of Independence was formally adopted. The connections with America with Great
Britain were broken. Within a few days the declaration was being read to people throughout the
colonies, and it was received with great pride.
Jefferson managed to spend considerable time with his family. Thomas took up building projects at
Monticello and continued to develop his land. Jefferson was a philosopher a architect, and an
inventor. Thomas invented the dumbwaiter, a swivel chair, a lamp heater, and an improved plow.
In May, 1784, Congress appointed Jefferson a diplomat. Jefferson was to go to France. There
Thomas Jefferson was to help the other ministers, Benjamin Franklin and John Adams, in arranging
commercial treaties with various European countries. When Franklin retired in 1785, Jefferson

The San Bernardino Shooting
The events of the San Bernardino shooting were a tragedy. 14 people were killed, and another 22
were injured when a married terrorist couple staged an attack on a Christmas party. This was an
unmitigated catastrophe, but it spawned one of the most important security debates in recent
memory. The FBI wanted to unlock one of the suspects phones, but were unable to do so because
of security measures on the phone. The FBI wanted to brute force the password lock on the
iPhone, but device would wipe itself after 10 failed attempts to unlock the iPhone. Thus, the FBI
asked Apple to create an intentionally insecure iOS update, specifically for this iPhone, in order to
bypass the security restrictions. Apple disagreed with the FBI, and tried to avoid helping the FBI
in such a way, arguing it would undermine the purpose of security itself. Overall, Apple has the best
argument, both legally and as a matter of public policy.
Primarily, the FBI wants to protect American citizens from malicious threats, in this case terrorism.
Unlocking the iPhone in question could give extremely important information, not only to the case
itself, but to potential terrorist agents worldwide. The San Bernardino killers may have contacted
others for assistance, and the FBI will not be able to bring them to justice without aid from Apple.

Roman Water System Essay
During the ancient Roman time period, there was a problem towards water. The Romans used
water every day in fountains and for recreational uses. But how could this water be transported for
everyday use and then how was the water to be disposed of? The Romans managed to find the
solution to these problems. They used the idea of the aqueductto transfer the water from sprigs to
Rome. Once the water was in Rome, it went right to use, either by sending the water directly to a
bathhouse to be heated up by a hypocaust, or to a fountain to be seen by all the people of Rome.
The water would then be disposed of and travel to the sewer system where it was disposed of. But

The sewer system would collect water from baths, latrines (a public pay toilet), palaces, fountain,
and other urban runoff (Hasan). From here, the sewers would flow through town to either the
nearest river or to out onto fields for irrigating and fertilizing soil (Wikander 176, 655). However
not every Roman citizen could afford the cost of a bath or bathroom in their house, so they
would be forced to either use a latrine or a chamber pot (Hasan). A latrine was a public pay toilet
and a chamber pot was a pot where bodily excretions went (Hasan). The chamber pot became a
problem as most people became too lazy to properly empty them, so they dumped the chamber
pot out of the window. With this problem rising, the Romans decided to use an open sewer
system as well with the regular sewer system (Wikander 168). The open sewer system is exactly
how it sounds, it s an open sewer where sewage runs through town to the nearest disposal sight.
This helped with the disposal of the chamber buckets. Later an emperor named Vespasian came up
with the idea to collect all the urine (Hasan). Vespasian had discovered that the ammonia in urine
had cleaning properties, so he collected the urine to wash clothes

Analysis Of The Philosophical Views Of The Other Presented...
Assignment: Final Paper the Other
Nancy Barahona
National University
Philosophy 337
August 1, 2015
Professor Martin Gomez
In looking at the philosophical views of the Other presented by Emmanuel Levinas we will
consider whether we act strictly for the good of others without investing any self interest in what
we do or do we do what we desire most at the end of the day; however, we will find many of our
daily interactions including working, caring for another and just basic interactions are all done in
self interest not in the interest of the Other. According to Rosenstand (2013) Levinas explains the
Other as a term seen in philosophy about a person who is different from oneself; it is when one is
facing something or someone that one is fundamentally unfamiliar with. (Rosenstand, 2013, p. 82)
He goes onto explain that this stranger can be a person of a different sex or race or even someone
who has different experiences than oneself. Levinas sees the bottom line of all human existence as
the encounter with the Other. (Rosenstand, 2013, p. 513) When people meet people they will more
often than not meet someone who is different from them. They will be a different color. A different
sex. A different social class. It will be someone who has grown up in a different environment than
them. And instinct will set in and one will try to change the Other; they will perceive that they are
helping the Other but really they are helping themselves. One person will

Reid believes that the NFL, who spent so much time over the possibility that the Patriots

it stunning that the National Football League is more concerned about how much air is in a

The Redskins name is a racist name (Garcia). In this certain circumstance, many people agree

Alfred Hitchcock Film Analysis
I ve gone on the record as saying I like Alfred Hitchcock s films, though I only really love one so
far ( Psycho ). My admiration for Hitchcock, along with the number of his films I love, increased

favorite Hitchcock film. This film stars James Stewart as John Scottie Ferguson, a San
Francisco detective forced to quit the force after a traumatizing event causes him to develop
acrophobia. He soon takes up a case as a sort of private eye, however, when an old acquaintance
from college asks him to investigate the strange habits of his wife (Kim Novak). Stewart
obliges, with dire consequences. One of the surprises in this film, for me, was Stewart as
Scottie, who performed excellently. I like Jimmy Stewart, but I ve never been as enamored with
him as some movie buffs. That has changed some, as I think this is his best performance I ve
seen. He makes you care for his character and believe his motivations and feelings for the first
portion of the movie. He struggles a bit in the emotional scenes, but he still succeeds in evoking
our sympathy. By the end of the film, his performance takes a remarkable turn and he becomes
genuinely disturbing. It s brilliant. Kim Novak is also great as Madeleine Elster, the wife Stewart
s character follows. She has a creepy, disturbing quality about her during that first part of the movie
that works quite well. Later, her performance takes a turn,

further then saying that the Cubans have influenced the Africans but he goes further then this by
expressing the idea that both cultures may have influenced each other. NicolГЎs GuillГ©n s work
wishes to explore the black experience in Cuba, he achieves this by internalising and writing as if
he were part of that world. Nevertheless the author remains a white Cuban, thus his point of view is

Charles Bukowski Essay
Henry Charles Bukowski writing was influenced by the social, cultural, and economic ambience
of Los Angeles. He left home after his father read some of his stories and went berserk,
destroying his output and throwing his possessions out onto the lawn, a lawn that the young
Bukowski had to mow weekly and would be beaten for if the grass wasn t perfectly cut.
Bukowski was born in 1920 in Andernach, Germany. He died on March 9, 1994 in San Pedro,
California. He was a German American poet, novelist, and story writer. Bukowski wrote thousands
of poems, hundreds of short stories and six novels, eventually publishing over sixty books. He had
a bad history with hospitals; he had to undergo three treatments for removal of separate skin cancers,

This allows the reader to slow down and not to speed up like people usually do in poems that
rhyme. When you read his poem it almost makes you want to slow down and read it in a calm
voice, to make you think about each and every word he wrote. The metaphors he uses are
significant because they convey a certain theme and make it clear as to what he is talking about.
The metaphor makes the mood more understandable, because people debate that you should give
second chances but he is saying he rather leave the past untouched. Hence the purpose for this
line, I refuse to let any of my old movies play over and over again for years. The metaphor makes
his tone sound assertive and sure of all the decisions he has made. For example this line let s
people know that he is not like others because of the metaphor and his choice for punctuation
marks I know some people who can watch the same movie more than once. Not me. I selected
this poet out of the thousands even millions of poets there are because I felt like he was the most
realist. Bukowski wrote on about what was going on in the world which he lived in like no other.
He wrote about portrayal of life in general and Los Angeles in particular, his usually self referential,
often angry poetry and prose typically depicts alcoholics, drug addicts, criminals, prostitutes, and
other outcasts. I love the fact that most of the poems I read, he didn t try to rhyme, and he just tried
to tell things as they were.

Analysis Of The American Dream In Death Of A Salesman
Death of Salesman is a story about an extremely hard working man, named Willy, and his family
who are struggling in fulfilling their dreams. In Death of a Salesman, Willy has many
conflicting feelings with his jobless son Biff. Throughout the story, Willy believes that success
will come to him if he works the hardest he can and by being famous in the spectrum of business
and jobs. Biff on the other hand realizes that this is not the way success is achieved and is more
angered by his father s delusions towards this idea. In the end of the book, Willy starts to realize
that Biff might be correct after all after Willy was fired from his job and decides to commit
suicide as a result to get insurance money for Biff to start a business. Willy s unshakeable pridein
this belief, also called The American Dream , ultimately led to his demise and most importantly
his death. In Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller uses an illusional tone, repetition, and idiomatic
phrases to exemplify the idea that having excessive pride in a certain belief is going to
ultimately lead to a person s demise. Arthur Miller uses an illusive tone throughout the story
when Willy is discussing the success he had in his past. Although this tone makes it seem like
Willy is being treated unjustly because of his previous successes that is not necessarily true. The
quote, ... in 1928 I had a big year. I averaged a hundred and seventy dollars a week in
commissions (Miller 82) , shows how Willy s belief that he has worked and accomplished too
much to be fired by Howard. The statement Willy makes is actually false. In reality he was never
this successful and in return shows that he is not that much worth to the firm. This creates an
illusive tone because it shows a deceptive memory that was untrue and makes it seem like Willy
is being unfairly treated, but in reality is just showing that Willy has too much pride in himself to
the point that he remembers things that are untrue, thus alluding back to the purpose that having
too much pride in a belief is going to ultimately lead to their demise. Another way Miller shows
Willy s excessive pride is when Willy tries to emphasize the wonder of America by saying, ...and
that s the wonder, the wonder of

Paraphilic Behavior
I believe that there is no way to definitively explain how people become interested in certain
sexual desires, although an argument can be made for those who were sexually exploited as a
child, which I will also discuss. I think that people are constantly evolving, and as we change
through the years, our sexual interests and desires change as well. Things that we liked as
children we have a tendency to outgrow as adults, to expect that we will have the same desires
at age 40 that we did at age 20 is naive. Things we believe in and lifelong friends we have may be
a constant in our lives, but most things have a propensity to evolve. Therefore, you have to ask
yourself why sexuality would not be one of the things to evolve as well. People have long debated
that most sexual preferences are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found that one might have a paraphilia that is necessary for sexual satisfaction (i.e. submission
or bondage) and their not at all interested in sex if it does not involve this paraphilia. At the same
time, one might have a paraphilic behavior but it is not necessary all the time for sexual
satisfaction. They may only engage in this behavior occasionally and may have many other
sexual interests. I am leaning toward one developing a paraphilia due to a habit they had early
in life that may not have been of a sexual nature but when being repeatedly associated with the
activity they become sexually aroused because it was pleasurable. On the other hand, exposure at
an early age to inappropriate sexual behavior a child will learn to mimic the behavior, they
become conditioned to enjoy the behavior and therefore see it as normal. Since they were
deprived of normal sexual contact, they continue to seek gratification through less acceptable
ways. This differs from paraphilic behavior because it becomes a disorder due to a child being
unable to give

Pokemon Go Thesis
Imagine having a powerful, fantastic creature at your side who will fight for you. This became a
dream for many kids with the card game, tv show and video game in the world of Pokemon.
Now with Pokemon Go, anyone can join that world for free (Hook). Pokemon Go is an app for
smartphones that uses GPS to allow people to go outside and find their own pokemon. No
longer are people sitting on a couch inside staring at a screen, dreaming of a different world.
Now they can go outside, get some exercise and feel all the excitement and anxiety of a real
pokemon trainer. The popularity of the app was proven by how many people downloaded it
immediately (Discussion). Pokemon Go was an idea that exploded and spread throughout the
nation, appealing to young children and settled adults alike (Thesis). Pokemon Go built upon
platforms of past videogames and GPS, was the next step in the realm of pokemon media, exapted
cell phones and games to be a way to encourage people outdoors and exercise in a world where
everything is leading indoors, and used liquid networks to reach as high as it could (Essay Map).
Pokemon Go was developed from layers of platforms already formed and used ideas that a new
idea builds upon, especially those that have created the present video game culture (Topic
Sentence). Pokemon had an advantage in this because the original Pokemon Company was created
in Japan, which had managed to nurse a mobile game culture earlier than competing countries

Nature And Theories In Management Accounting
CHAPTER TWO
LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Introduction
This chapter begins by looking at the literature that will give considerable information about
Management Accounting and the practices of Small and medium Enterprises, bringing out the
interdependence and interrelation of one to the other.
2.2 Overview of Management Accounting
Management accounting was first known as cost accounting. This origin was reflected in the earlier
title for practitioners of cost or works accountants (Wilson and Chua, 1988). Accounting historians
have long endorsed the view that cost accounting is a product of the industrial revolution (Johnson,
1981). For example (Wilson and Chua, 1993) claimed that cost accounting was practiced by the
mechanized, multi process, cotton textile factories that appeared in England and United States
around 1800. This point of view was consistent with Garner (1947) who pointed out that cost
accounting had emerged only after eighteenth century as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This change has resulted to a range of modern management accounting. This is evident through the
adoption of innovative modern management accounting techniques like Cash Flow analysis,
Activity based costing, cost volume profit Analysis, Balanced Scorecard, Standard costing among
others. This new techniques seem to be gradually adopted by Ghanaian SMEs.
Management accountant is less likely to take decision but rather provides data which is aids
management in decision making. Management accountant deals with future outcome. It helps in
planning the future because decisions are always taken for the future course of action. Many
theories have been developed to management accounting, among them which this study seeks to
address is the contingency

Dr Zimbardo s Fault In The Case Of Abu Ghraib
The evidence from Stanford suggests that, according to Maria Konnikova, certain institutions and
environments demand those behaviors and, perhaps, can change them. No institution or
environment on this planet demands the behaviors seen in Abu Ghraib or The Stanford
Experiment. The environment and leadership at the time of Abu Ghraib had a hand in this
unfortunate incident. In Dr. Zimbardo s Op Ed piece in the Boston Globe he says those
responsible should suffer severe sanctions if found guilty, and we must separate guilt from blame.
Being an active duty member in the Navy, whenever there is a serious incident or accident blame is
always investigated for. Who do we blame? Depending on the incident or accident, the lowest man

Fdi Drawbacks
Arguments against FDI in Retail in India 1. Predatory Pricing With its incredibly deep pockets
Wal Mart will be able to sustain losses for many years till its immediate competition is wiped
out. This is a normal predatory strategy used by large players to drive out small and dispersed
competition. This entails job losses by the millions. 2. Labour Displacement Another factor is that
it can only expand by destroying the traditional retail sector. Till such time we are in a position to
create jobs on a large scale in manufacturing, it would make eminent sense that any policy that
results in the elimination of jobs in the unorganised retail sector should be kept on hold. If we
assume 40 mn adults in the retail sector, it would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wal Mart has a clearly defined anti union policy aimed at preventing its work force from gaining
any collective bargaining power which could result in increased wages, covered health benefits
and job security. 10. As per International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN) data, milk producers
in the US got only 38 per cent share of the consumer s dollar spent on milk, while the rest was
earned by the processor and retailer. In the United Kingdom, the milk producers got only 36
percent. However, in India, the milk producer gets more than 70 per cent of the consumer s
rupee on an average. Moreover, the milk producer affiliated to co operatives get more than 80
per cent share of the consumer s rupee. In the US, the farmer s share in the consumer s price has
declined from 52 per cent in 1996 to 38 per cent in 2009, while in the UK it has declined from 56
per cent in 1996 to 38 per cent in 2009. This decline clearly demonstrates that the milk producers
suffer when the share of organised retail increases. 11. If we take the total retail sales in India to
be Rs. 312180 crore approximately (which is around 11% of India s GDP at factor cost at
current prices in 2004 05), turnover per employee for the Indian retail sector comes to around Rs.
78045 (taking total employment of 4 crore). In contrast, the turnover per employee for Wal Mart
International comes to around Rs. 7418332 (Annual Report 2005 of Wal Mart puts the total sales
figure for Wal Mart International at $

Does Memory Decline With Age
Does Memory Decline with Age Once you reach a certain point in your life how do you just
forgot? Is there a certain point in your life where your memory is affected? The common
question going around is does your memory decline with age. One reason this is important
because it will affect all of us. We will all get old and this can greatly affect our health. The
research can show how our older age will affect our memory. Human memory loss is an effect that
we all will have to deal with. Numerous studies show age related decline in episodic memory.
(Naveh Benjamin and Kilb, 2014) The initial research done has shown that indeed your memory
will decrease. There are many reasoning for why this happens but one of the main points refers to
associative memory. One of the explanations for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Selective memory retrieval is research to try and recall events that occurred in your past life. In
their studies, they used sixty four participants between the age of (20 35) for the younger
generation and for the 64 participants their age was over sixty. They then proceeded to show
each group certain images to remember. Both groups showed a very poor retrieval to the images
portrayed. For the most part, this initial test between the young and older ages was unsuccessful.
Since, this experiment didn t go as planned they came up with a new process. That process being
to have a much wider group is participants. Having the participants between the age of (40 85)
drastically changed the results of the experiment. Critically, the size of the beneficial but now the
detrimental effect of retrieval decreased with age and this age related decline was mediated by
individuals working memory capacity, as measured by the complex operation span task. (Aslan, A.,
Schlichting, A., John, T., Bauml, K. T., 2015) In this study it showed that there was an early
decline in the older generation memory compared to the younger

This workshop provided an overview of nine ELA shift kits. These kits are provided by ISBE to aid classroom teachers in the shift to the CCSS. For this evaluation of a reading program, I have chosen to evaluate the usefulness of these ELA shift kits and my school s familiarity with these ELA shifts. Components of Evaluation To begin my evaluation, I wanted to find out what my teaching peers already knew about the ELA shift kits. I was also curious as to overall knowledge of our school s focus on literacy and our student s literacy needs. Therefore, I created a needs assessment to collect this information. I distributed to the needs assessment to our high school teachers and staff, which is twenty three total members, not including myself. These members consist of eighteen teachers, two classroom aides, one guidance counselor, and two building administrators. The needs assessment consists of eleven total questions. Producing knowledge requires different beliefs to be justified by different ways that we can acquire knowledge around us. Some of those ways of knowing are reasoning, imagining, intuition, using our memory and faith, and they are mostly used as combinations to support and complete each other to create a well guided whole knowledge. I agree with the idea that no knowledge can be produced by a single way of knowing. Although a knowledge seems to be produced by a single way of knowing, there is always another way of knowing that is there, hidden somewhere, to support the other one. By stating no knowledge , it means that there should be no exceptions, not even a single one so that all the situations should prove this statement right. Using a single way of knowing should refer to the ways of knowing which will be working in a complete isolation. Therefore we cannot consider a way of knowing, which seems to work single but have the support of another one, as isolated because in that situation this will be an exception to disprove the statement single . They used the idea of the aqueductto transfer the water from sprigs to Rome. Once the water was in Rome, it went right to use, either by sending the water directly to a bathhouse to be heated up by a hypocaust, or to a fountain to be seen by all the people of Rome. However not every Roman citizen could afford the cost of a bath or bathroom in their house, so they would be forced to either use a latrine or a chamber pot (Hasan). A latrine was a public pay toilet and a chamber pot was a pot where bodily excretions went (Hasan). The chamber pot became a problem as most people became too lazy to properly empty them, so they dumped the chamber pot out of the window. With this problem rising, the Romans decided to use an open sewer system as well with the regular sewer system (Wikander 168). • 33. Analysis Of The Philosophical Views Of The Other Presented... Assignment: Final Paper the Other Nancy Barahona National University Philosophy 337 August 1, 2015 Professor Martin Gomez In looking at the philosophical views of the Other presented by Emmanuel Levinas we will consider whether we act strictly for the good of others without investing any self interest in what we do or do we do what we desire most at the end of the day; however, we will find many of our daily interactions including working, caring for another and just basic interactions are all done in self interest not in the interest of the Other. According to Rosenstand (2013) Levinas explains the Other as a term seen in philosophy about a person who is different from oneself; it is when one is facing something or someone that one is fundamentally unfamiliar with. (Rosenstand, 2013, p. 82) He goes onto explain that this stranger can be a person of a different sex or race or even someone who has different experiences than oneself. Levinas sees the bottom line of all human existence as the encounter with the Other. (Rosenstand, 2013, p. 513) When people meet people they will more often than not meet someone who is different from them. They will be a different color. A different sex. A different social class. It will be someone who has grown up in a different environment than them. In this certain circumstance, many people agree with Reid that the NFL prioritized over the wrong thing, especially when one s about a little air coming out of the football and the other is discriminating against part of their viewing audience. There was even 50 senators, doesn t include names but I assume Harry Reid was apart of those 50 senators, that signed a letter urging the NFL to force Dan Snyder quoting that the name is racist, derogatory, and indecent to the Native American culture. If Dan Snyder would get past his ignorance then maybe, just maybe, the D.C would allow the team to move back into the District of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Alfred Hitchcock Film Analysis I ve gone on the record as saying I like Alfred Hitchcock s films, though I only really love one so far ( Psycho ). My admiration for Hitchcock, along with the number of his films I love, increased after we watched his beloved Vertigo in my class. It may have barely surpassed Psycho as my favorite Hitchcock film. This film stars James Stewart as John Scottie Ferguson, a San Francisco detective forced to quit the force after a traumatizing event causes him to develop acrophobia. He soon takes up a case as a sort of private eye, however, when an old acquaintance from college asks him to investigate the strange habits of his wife (Kim Novak). Stewart obliges, with dire consequences. One of the surprises in this film, for me, was Stewart as Scottie, who performed excellently. I like Jimmy Stewart, but I ve never been as enamored with him as some movie buffs. That has changed some, as I think this is his best performance I ve seen. He makes you care for his character and believe his motivations and feelings for the first portion of the movie. He struggles a bit in the emotional scenes, but he still succeeds in evoking our sympathy. By the end of the film, his performance takes a remarkable turn and he becomes genuinely disturbing. It s brilliant. Kim Novak is also great as Madeleine Elster, the wife Stewart s character follows. She has a creepy, disturbing quality about her during that first part of the movie that works quite well. Later, her performance takes a turn, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He left home after his father read some of his stories and went berserk, destroying his output and throwing his possessions out onto the lawn, a lawn that the young Bukowski had to mow weekly and would be beaten for if the grass wasn t perfectly cut. Bukowski was born in 1920 in Andernach, Germany. He died on March 9, 1994 in San Pedro, California. He was a German American poet, novelist, and story writer. This allows the reader to slow down and not to speed up like people usually do in poems that rhyme. When you read his poem it almost makes you want to slow down and read it in a calm voice, to make you think about each and every word he wrote. The metaphors he uses are significant because they convey a certain theme and make it clear as to what he is talking about. The metaphor makes the mood more understandable, because people debate that you should give second chances but he is saying he rather leave the past untouched. Hence the purpose for this line, I refuse to let any of my old movies play over and over again for years. The metaphor makes his tone sound assertive and sure of all the decisions he has made. For example this line let s people know that he is not like others because of the metaphor and his choice for punctuation marks I know some people who can watch the same movie more than once. Not me. I selected this poet out of the thousands even millions of poets there are because I felt like he was the most realist. Bukowski wrote on about what was going on in the world which he lived in like no other. He wrote about portrayal of life in general and Los Angeles in particular, his usually self referential, often angry poetry and prose typically depicts alcoholics, drug addicts, criminals, prostitutes, and other outcasts. I love the fact that most of the poems I read, he didn t try to rhyme, and he just tried to tell things as they were. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Analysis Of The American Dream In Death Of A Salesman Death of Salesman is a story about an extremely hard working man, named Willy, and his family who are struggling in fulfilling their dreams. In Death of a Salesman, Willy has many conflicting feelings with his jobless son Biff. Throughout the story, Willy believes that success will come to him if he works the hardest he can and by being famous in the spectrum of business and jobs. Biff on the other hand realizes that this is not the way success is achieved and is more angered by his father s delusions towards this idea. In the end of the book, Willy starts to realize that Biff might be correct after all after Willy was fired from his job and decides to commit suicide as a result to get insurance money for Biff to start a business. Willy s unshakeable pridein this belief, also called The American Dream , ultimately led to his demise and most importantly his death. In Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller uses an illusional tone, repetition, and idiomatic phrases to exemplify the idea that having excessive pride in a certain belief is going to ultimately lead to a person s demise. Arthur Miller uses an illusive tone throughout the story when Willy is discussing the success he had in his past. Although this tone makes it seem like Willy is being treated unjustly because of his previous successes that is not necessarily true. The quote, ... in 1928 I had a big year. I averaged a hundred and seventy dollars a week in commissions (Miller 82) , shows how Willy s belief that he has worked and accomplished too much to be fired by Howard. The statement Willy makes is actually false. In reality he was never this successful and in return shows that he is not that much worth to the firm. This creates an illusive tone because it shows a deceptive memory that was untrue and makes it seem like Willy is being unfairly treated, but in reality is just showing that Willy has too much pride in himself to the point that he remembers things that are untrue, thus alluding back to the purpose that having too much pride in a belief is going to ultimately lead to their demise. Another way Miller shows Willy s excessive pride is when Willy tries to emphasize the wonder of America by saying, ...and that s the wonder, the wonder of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Paraphilic Behavior I believe that there is no way to definitively explain how people become interested in certain sexual desires, although an argument can be made for those who were sexually exploited as a child, which I will also discuss. I think that people are constantly evolving, and as we change through the years, our sexual interests and desires change as well. Things that we liked as children we have a tendency to outgrow as adults, to expect that we will have the same desires at age 40 that we did at age 20 is naive. Things we believe in and lifelong friends we have may be a constant in our lives, but most things have a propensity to evolve. Therefore, you have to ask yourself why sexuality would not be one of the things to evolve as well. People have long debated that most sexual preferences are... They may only engage in this behavior occasionally and may have many other sexual interests. I am leaning toward one developing a paraphilia due to a habit they had early in life that may not have been of a sexual nature but when being repeatedly associated with the activity they become sexually aroused because it was pleasurable. On the other hand, exposure at an early age to inappropriate sexual behavior a child will learn to mimic the behavior, they become conditioned to enjoy the behavior and therefore see it as normal. Since they were deprived of normal sexual contact, they continue to seek gratification through less acceptable ways. This differs from paraphilic behavior because it becomes a disorder due to a child being unable to give ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This became a dream for many kids with the card game, tv show and video game in the world of Pokemon. Now with Pokemon Go, anyone can join that world for free (Hook). Pokemon Go is an app for smartphones that uses GPS to allow people to go outside and find their own pokemon. No longer are people sitting on a couch inside staring at a screen, dreaming of a different world. Now they can go outside, get some exercise and feel all the excitement and anxiety of a real pokemon trainer. The popularity of the app was proven by how many people downloaded it immediately (Discussion). Pokemon Go was an idea that exploded and spread throughout the nation, appealing to young children and settled adults alike (Thesis). Pokemon Go built upon platforms of past videogames and GPS, was the next step in the realm of pokemon media, exapted cell phones and games to be a way to encourage people outdoors and exercise in a world where everything is leading indoors, and used liquid networks to reach as high as it could (Essay Map). Pokemon Go was developed from layers of platforms already formed and used ideas that a new idea builds upon, especially those that have created the present video game culture (Topic Sentence). Pokemon had an advantage in this because the original Pokemon Company was created in Japan, which had managed to nurse a mobile game culture earlier than competing countries (Supporting Detail 1). ... • 45. Nature And Theories In Management Accounting CHAPTER TWO LITERATURE REVIEW 2.1 Introduction This chapter begins by looking at the literature that will give considerable information about Management Accounting and the practices of Small and medium Enterprises, bringing out the interdependence and interrelation of one to the other. 2.2 Overview of Management Accounting Management accounting was first known as cost accounting. This origin was reflected in the earlier title for practitioners of cost or works accountants (Wilson and Chua, 1988). Accounting historians have long endorsed the view that cost accounting is a product of the industrial revolution (Johnson, 1981). For example (Wilson and Chua, 1993) claimed that cost accounting was practiced by the mechanized, multi process, cotton textile factories that appeared in England and United States around 1800. This point of view was consistent with Garner (1947) who pointed out that cost accounting had emerged only after eighteenth century as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Predatory Pricing With its incredibly deep pockets Wal Mart will be able to sustain losses for many years till its immediate competition is wiped out. This is a normal predatory strategy used by large players to drive out small and dispersed competition. This entails job losses by the millions. 2. Labour Displacement Another factor is that it can only expand by destroying the traditional retail sector. Till such time we are in a position to create jobs on a large scale in manufacturing, it would make eminent sense that any policy that results in the elimination of jobs in the unorganised retail sector should be kept on hold. As per International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN) data, milk producers in the US got only 38 per cent share of the consumer s dollar spent on milk, while the rest was earned by the processor and retailer. In the United Kingdom, the milk producers got only 36 percent. However, in India, the milk producer gets more than 70 per cent of the consumer s rupee on an average. Moreover, the milk producer affiliated to co operatives get more than 80 per cent share of the consumer s rupee. In the US, the farmer s share in the consumer s price has declined from 52 per cent in 1996 to 38 per cent in 2009, while in the UK it has declined from 56 per cent in 1996 to 38 per cent in 2009. Is there a certain point in your life where your memory is affected? The common question going around is does your memory decline with age. One reason this is important because it will affect all of us. We will all get old and this can greatly affect our health. The research can show how our older age will affect our memory. Human memory loss is an effect that we all will have to deal with. Numerous studies show age related decline in episodic memory. For the most part, this initial test between the young and older ages was unsuccessful. Since, this experiment didn t go as planned they came up with a new process. That process being to have a much wider group is participants. Having the participants between the age of (40 85) drastically changed the results of the experiment.
