Abstract
In this essay, two companies will be identified and described on how they utilize a queuing system.
Only two of the four most basic waiting line structures will be discussed: single server and multiple
server waiting lines. Since waiting is an integral part of many service related operations, it is an
important area of analysis. Each queue system has its advantages and disadvantages, but with no doubt

The multiple server waiting line approach eliminates jockeying behavior. A single line, multiple server
system has better performance in terms of waiting times than the same system with a line for each
server. The multiple line configuration is appropriate when experienced servers are used or when
space considerations make a single line model inconvenient. On the other hand, the multiple service
line system provides the customer the option of selecting his clerk, but check out may be considerably
slower (Jones, O Berski, Tom, 1980, p. 91). There are many ways to minimize customer wait times.
One way to reduce customer wait time is to decrease the expected service time. This can be
accomplished by identifying best practices among all the servers, standardizing processes based on
best practices, and enhancing training to ensure that best practices are followed. Also, you may choose
to offer employee incentives that encourage working faster as a way to decrease service time. Another
way to impact customer wait time is to decrease the rate at which customers arrive to be served. If
your service operation experiences peak service hours at certain times of the day when your customers
prefer to be served, then management could offer the customer promotions geared to increase traffic
during off peak times. Finally, by adding more servers you will be able to reduce customer wait

Historically, the distillation of alcohol (spirits, wine and vodka) has been a high end consumer in
terms of energy usage. According to U.S. Dept. of Energy, there are more than 40,000 distillation
columns in North America and they consume 40% of the total energy used to operate plants in
chemical industries [1]. As a result, researchers have focused their efforts towards developing
distillation columns that are more compact, utilize compressors to recirculate latent heat and possess
more effective separation technology in order to reduce energy consumption.

The clocks are melting and there is a lot of mystery in the darkness of the painting. The only objects in
the painting that don t seem to look strange is the small tree on which one of the clocks is melting and

The prehensile tailed skink (Corucia zebrata) is an endemic tropical squamate that is found inhabiting
all major islands of the Solomon Archipelago in the Southwest Pacific. It is considered to be one of
the largest known skinks and has many common names such as Solomon Island skink, giant skink,
monkey tail skink, Solomon Island prehensile tailed skink, or simply, Corucia. And just as the
common name indicates, C. zebrata possesses the interesting adaptation of a prehensile tail (Vosjoli,
1993). The genus Corucia is monotypic and only consists of C. z. zebrata and a subspecies population,
C. z. alfredschmidti, also known as the Northern prehensile tailed skink that inhabits Bougainville
Island in the Solomon islands (Harmon, 2002). There is an unfortunate small amount of information
known about this species in the wild, but what has been studied and is known, has led to the belief that
this is somewhat of an unusual and ecologically unique species among the Scincidae (Hagen,
