Example Of Hyperpectral Image Classification
This work is mainly related to hyperspectral image classification, with special emphasis on high
dimensional feature vectors. Various techniques and frameworks have been developed to tackle the
HSI classification problem. Some of the recent HSI classification techniques can be found in [Yi
Chen, Nasser M. Nasrabadi] [12] [17]. In here, we just emphasize the most recent prominent
technique in HSI. A. Dimensionality Reduction With regard to the issue that we are following, there
are another popular examples based on dimensional reduction studies, Principal Component Analysis
(PCA), Random Projection (RP) that can project the data matrix into another space which is lower
dimensional rather than original space [18]. Structurally, in these ... Show more content on

However, since CNNs have been mostly considered on image and visual related problems, there are a
few prominent works for HSI classification based on deep learning. Chen et al. [36] used deep belief

the CNN model which proposed by Dong et al. [20] on the hyperspectral images. In their work, they
didn t consider preserving the spectral information, and they treat hyperspectral images as a RGB

convolutional layer, a maxpooling layer, a fully connected layer, and finally an output for
hyperspectral image classification. They proposed CNN to directly classify hyperspectral data in the
spectral domain. Makantasis et al. [31] presented a deep learning based classification method that
hierarchically constructs high level features automatically. Wu et al. [22] developed a novel

Our Identity And Belonging Essay
We are driven by five genetic needs: survival, love and belonging, power, freedom, and fun, although
not everyone gets a chance to experience these things. Belongingness is the human emotional need to
be an accepted member of a group. Whether it is family, friends, co workers, or a sports team, humans
have an inherent desire to belong and be an important part of something greater than them. The need
to belong is the need to give and receive affection from others.
When I first cut my hair I felt like I was doing something for myself, doing something that I wanted.
Although after a while of being at school and seeing everyone else look at me in confusion and asking
if I was a girl or a boy, I soon felt like I did not belong. That I did not fit ... Show more content on

Maybe the media is to blame, with all these skinny models on magazines that haven t changed. Maybe
it s because humans become comfortable with the familiar, and there seems to be a safe pattern of life
related with it. The doubt that comes with a new order brings discomfort. It is human nature to seek
comfort and security. You ve changed , after all this time of having long hair perhaps is good to
change ourselves a little and change society s opinion on belonging, but in my perspective of change, I
have not belonged. After I had realised that people around me were judging my choices and making
me into someone I was not, I felt the need to find something that will make me belong, something or
someone that will make me feel happiness again. Unfortunately I still don t know what makes me
happy to this day due to metal illnesses, but there are little things that make me feel comfortable such
as my favourite movies and recently I found a new comfort in books. My mum still tells me that I d
always belong to her no matter what, so I have found a belonging with my mum and maybe I have
found happiness with her, but I still am unsure on what real belonging and happiness feels

Professional Singers Enhanced Voice Quality
As a result of training, professional singers enhanced voice quality may be related to respiratory,
aerodynamic, phonatory, and resonatory/articulatory adjustments. Singers are often trained to onset
voicing at varying lung volumes (LVs) to produce voice qualities that are both perceptually pleasing
and aerodynamically efficient. The goal of most professional vocal training is determined perceptually
by a voice teacher to approach an ideal voice quality for a specific genre (e.g. opera, belt, etc.). We
examined the effects of training and task difficulty on physiological vocal behaviors and cortical
activation patterns in untrained singers and freshman vocal performance and vocal education students

The Future Of Gas Prices
The Future of Gas In the not so distant future, gas prices have the potential to hit a staggering $10 a
gallon. Government policies also will limit the consumption to each family to a maximum of $250 per
month. The cars of this time period have not increased the gas mileage per vehicle to any more than a
dismal 20 miles per gallon. Families must find new ways of dealing with this situation and learn to
manage only 500 miles of driving potential for the family car per month. The Smith family, consisting
of a husband and wife with one beautiful child, proves to be whimsical and creative to manage this. In
order to overcome this epic conservation mandate, oil reserves must be replenished or alternates fuel

Mrs. Smith is a stay at home mom as they just had their first child 6 months ago.
The Smiths chose the home they purchased partly because of its close proximity to many things such
as: schools, doctors and a town that is not too far from them. The close proximity to everything
needed feels like a warm and inviting community setting; therefore, some people live in a community
because it is where they grew up. Others choose a community because it is where they found work,
such as the Smiths were able to accomplish (Jackson Sinclair, 2011).
The Smiths home location has enabled them to budget the 500 mile a month limitation for now. Urban
sprawl has enabled a multitude of families to venture further from big cities into home communities
that are less expensive; however, the distance required to most amenities can be vast. It is not unheard
of for some workers to commute greater than 50 miles per day. This would not be plausible if there
was a 500 mile limitation on driving a personal vehicle. A typical month of driving for the Smiths has
been reduced to less than 500 miles; consequently, this makes the carbon footprint they produce very
small and saves them money along the way. The data presented in figure 1 above, illustrates that they
are slightly negative for the month. This is OK, as the end of the month approaches; they

Dangerous Sex Offenders
I feel that as a society we do play a role in the formation of a dangerous sex offender. I find that a
common theme replaying across the histories of various dangerous sex offenders is family instability.
In modern times the family has become more and more isolated. Instead of large families living
together, or near one another, there tends to be large geographical distances in between them. In
addition, people tend to not know or have any involvement with their neighbors further isolating them.
This social isolation seems to be lending a helping hand with the dissolution of the family unit. More
and more families seem to be single parent, second, third or more marriages, or other family members

Ultimately, Boone Coleman did not complete its work until 397 days after the agreed project
completion date. Upon completion, the Village paid Boone Coleman $535,823 for its work.
Boone Coleman filed suit seeking the balance of the $683,300 contract price and additional
compensation for extra work. The Village denied liability to Boone Coleman, counterclaimed for
$277,900 in liquidated damages, and moved for summary judgment in its favor.
Court Decision:
The trial court granted the motion for summary judgment, determining that the Village was not liable
to Boone Coleman, and that Boone Coleman was liable to the Village for liquidated damages.
Further Action by the parties: The general contractor, Boon Coleman, filed an appeal at the Court Of
Appeals of Ohio, Fourth Appellate District, Pike County 2014 Ohio 2377, and it was to his favor. On
appeal, the Court of Appeals of Ohio reversed the portion of the trial court s judgment that enforced
the contractual liquidated damages provision. The Court of Appeals of Ohio held that a liquidated
damages provision in a public construction contract constituted an unenforceable penalty because the
amount of liquidated damages pursued was almost a third of the original cost of the contract which
was unreasonable and disproportionate.

Does The Fruit Fly Experiment
Introduction
The purpose of this conducting this lab is to see how the rocket can be changed physically to make it
fly higher up after being launched. Not only is the rocket going to fly higher but also have to test to
see if there is a way to thoroughly protect an egg after landing to keep it from cracking/breaking.
Research on the average height a rocket flies based on the PSI used showed that the higher the PSI the
higher it tends to fly. Experimental Design
The experimental question is Will the amount of air pressure change the height the rocket flies?. The
independent variable is the amount of pressure in the rocket. The dependent variable is how high the
rocket flies. The control is a bottle with just air no water launched at 60psi.
Hypothesis
If the air pressure is raised higher than the other experimental group s air pressure then the rocket will
fly higher because of the increased force pushing off the water to make it fly higher.
Test
Materials
2 cans of Insulated Foam Sealant

I predicted that the higher PSI would force the rocket to go higher. I feel as though to the results
differed from the hypothesis because the air pressure pump was broken when group 1 was launching
the rocket. Second, we could not keep all the constants the same since we had different people
building each rocket as well as each parachute. Lastly, we can t be sure the data is accurate because we
only have two group s data so we can t check the data and see if there is a pattern. Ways to improve
these errors could be to have one group work on the rockets. Another group taking all the data so one
group doesn t forget to put in the data. The last group to launch the rocket. We would also need to be
sure that all of the parachutes are the same as the math groups we worked with did not take down what
we needed to be built to match and instead did whatever they wanted to

The Contribution of the Supernatural to Richard III Essay
The Contribution of the Supernatural to Richard III
During the Renaissance period people were very superstitious and England on a whole was an
extremely religious country; people believed in both God and the Devil and Heaven and Hell. They
also believed in prophecies, supernatural and curses. A modern audience would have reacted very
differently to the play than a Shakespearean audience. The events contained within Richard III must
have seemed very real to a Shakespearean audience as it depicts the historical events of the rise and
fall of Richard III. For a Shakespearean audience these events happened only a century earlier. To a
modern audience it is viewed as what it is, a dramatisation of a ... Show more content on

Richard III is a play based upon the dramatisation of history.
The supernatural is an event that depends upon the superseding of the laws of nature, an event which
cannot occur naturally in our world under any circumstances with or without the assistance of any
natural being. Only God, or the Devil, has the power to cause supernatural events to occur. Richard III
deals with supernatural elements such as curses, devils, dreams and witchcraft. I believe supernatural
elements were included in Richard III to add a sense of dread that matches the malice of Richard, to
show that divine nemesis exists. Shakespeare created Richard as a machiavellian who takes delight in
governing through fear and force. He is a character of sheer evil; however Shakespeare provides a
contrast to Richard s villainy via the voices of the female characters. Margaret and Anne contribute by
predicting the dire consequences of Richard s acts; they also express their intense hatred through
curses.
The most common use of supernatural by Shakespeare within Richard III is curses. Curses are magic
spells placed upon people with the intention of harm. The desired affect of curses can range from
illness to death. Curses are commonly associated

Essay On Malicious Algorithms
In [10], author proposed a scheme which identifies the malicious nodes by using aggregate signature
algorithm. It associates three algorithms.
(1) The proof creating algorithm: Whenever the nodes involved in a communication receive a
message, they create a proof that is based on aggregate signature algorithm.
(2) The checkup algorithm: This algorithm is called when the source node suspects that the
transmitted packets are dropped. If the destination reports that it does not receive all transmitted
packets, it will invoke this algorithm to detect the malicious node.
(3) The diagnosis algorithm: works with the results of check up algorithm. Simulation is done in ns2

Performance metrics are measured which shows that packet loss is less than AODV. Packet Loss
increases as mobility increases. In route discovery process, an intermediate node will try to create a
route and this route should not contain a node whose legitimacy ratio lesser the lower threshold level.
[18] Proposed a black hole avoidance scheme. An enhancement is made in the AODV routing protocol
to eliminate the black hole. The source first sends the route request and waits for responses from all
neighboring nodes with which it gets a reliable route. According to this proposed scheme the source
node should not send data packets immediately after receiving the first reply. Timer Expired Table is
used to set timer after the reception of first reply. This table stores the sequence number of the packet.
Collect Route Reply Table is used to store arrival time. Node s waiting time depends on the distance.
Entries in the table help to identify malicious node.
[19] presented a black hole detection scheme. In this method, when the source node receives RREP
packets, it generates a new RREQ. RREQ has the highest sequence number and it is unicast through
the route which the RREP packet was received. Malicious node generates a RREP with highest
sequence number on receiving RREQ. Malicious node sends the fake RREP packet to the source node.
Now source identifies the malicious node. This method has very less overhead.

Use Of Irony In Don Quixote
Miguel de Cervantes novel, Don Quixote, is a touchstone for criticism on narrative fiction that
reorients criticism towards an emphasis on the formal over the thematic and the playful over the
solemn. A majority of the irony shown throughout this work is portrayed through one of the main
characters, Don Quixote, whom is an old gentleman that attempts to put his fantasy ideas into action in
a prosy world that makes even the meanest intelligence crack a smile. But, as the reader further
analyzes the meaning of the text, it makes he or she question his or her own frivolity. The reader
begins to sympathize with Don Quixote because insanity prevents him from seeing his reality as fake
and inappropriate opposed to actual social needs. Irony in Don ... Show more content on

This viewpoint depends on whether the reader is willing to take the good or bad side of Don Quixote s
crazy; it depends on whether the reader considers that Don Quixote has the correct moral values with
madness. An example of the theme of honor that can be portrayed in an ironic way is when the
narrator talks about Don Quixote fighting the windmills, saying, So saying, and commending himself
with all his heart to his lady Dulcinea, imploring her to support him in such a peril, with lance in rest
and covered by his buckler, he charged at Rocinante s fullest gallop and fell upon the first mill that
stood in front of him, (I.VIII). This passage portrays Don Quixote s valiance and determination
towards Dulcinea as honorable because he charges at the windmills with all of his might, but this
passage is also ironic because he is investing all of his honorable valiance and determination on fake
giants that are actually windmills. He contains a vast majority of the valiance it takes to become a
knight, but he is applying all of his energy in the wrong

Reverse Logistic
REVERSE LOGISTICS
DEFINATION:
Flow of surplus or unwanted material, goods, or equipment back to the firm, through its logistics
chain, for reuse, recycling, or disposal.
In other words, reverse logistics is the management of any type of returns from any customer with a
specific purpose. Products can be returned from any player within the supply chain or from the end
user for different reasons. Raw material, work in process or finished goods can be returned when there
are surplus or leftovers during the customer s production due to changes in manufacturing plan.
Products maybe recalled for quality issues. Damaged product/package in delivery amp; unsold product
can also incur returns.

* Removal of containers and packaging from response area. * Destruction of spoilt food commodities
and out of date pharmaceuticals. * Return of rejected goods to the suppliers. * Movement of excess or
over supplied goods to other programs or donating to other organizations.
IMPORTANCE OF REVERSE LOGISTICS:
Earlier companies did not pay much attention to reverse logistics. However, now due to consumer
awareness, law enforcement on disposal of certain goods makes it very important for companies to
manage an efficient reverse logistics. Now a days, companies are even getting ISO certification for
their returns process.
Reverse Logistics Activities:
It can include a variety of activities depending on whether the goods are returned from a customer
(end user) or a distributor, whether the goods sent back is a packaging material or a product and
similar other factors. If it is a product then activities like refurbish, recondition, remanufacture,
recycle, landfill, etc. can be performed. If it is a packaging material, reuse, refurbish, recycle, reclaim
material activities are involved. For examples, Coca Cola reuses its glass bottles and reconditions it
before bringing it back in the market. Broken bottles are recycled.
To reduce costs, firms attempt to reuse materials as much as possible. For products that cannot be
reused in anyway due to its poor condition, legal implications, environmental issues, etc. firms then
scrap the products at least

Death to the Death Penalty Contrary to popular belief, the death penalty s approval ratings have

only three states administer the death penalty these days. Capital punishment has worked for a few
years to scare those who desire to commit a federal crime, but because the usage continually
diminishes (despite in a few states), why would the government keep the death penalty if it costs them
millions per year? Cleary, the best option remains: to eliminate this form of punishment once and for

money could have been spent elsewhere, like making public education environments more

Even Pope John Paul II believes that capital punishment must be eradicated from societies, as he

The Pros And Cons Of Sex And Love
Sometimes sex and love are thought to be one and the same. Probably because when you love
somebody and there is a physical attraction (Chemistry) having sex or making love with them is part
of the equation, in most cases. When there is real love there is also a spiritual connection between the
partners and that is what makes it so special. Before, during, but especially after having sex, in a
loving committed relationship there is what I would call a union not only of body but of mind and
spirit that is truly unique. Real love and real lovemaking involves feelings of safety and trust.
When the physical act of having sex is completed with someone you love, couples experience a deep
and profound sensation of extreme joy and satisfaction without a trace of guilt.

Aircraft Icing And Its Effects On All Aircraft
Abstract The following is an in depth look on aircraft icing and the harsh effects it has on all aircraft.
Mother Nature has been around far longer than any of us. Weather is not going anywhere anytime
soon and it is our responsibility no matter what our position in the aviation community to understand
and deal with these conditions properly. Aircraft icing is not completely preventable but with the
proper techniques, tools and knowledge can be dealt with safely. Aviation in general is far to precious
and should not be denied by any weather condition. Within this reading I hope one can understand and
have a thorough understand of exactly what icing is and how both the aircraft and aircrew can help to
prevent a serious mishap form occurring. Title: Subtitle Leonardo da Vinci once said When once you

Customer Queuing Systems
The Customer Queuing Systems
Luis A. Alvarado
Business 425

March 17, 2012
Abstract
In this essay, two companies will be identified and described on how they utilize a queuing system.
Only two of the four most basic waiting line structures will be discussed: single server and multiple
server waiting lines. Since waiting is an integral part of many service related operations, it is an
important area of analysis. Each queue system has its advantages and disadvantages, but with no doubt
each company s goal is to cut down on the waiting time and that customer returns. In particular, we
examine their implementation of both processes and try to find solutions to improve the waiting line
process. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The multiple server waiting line approach eliminates jockeying behavior. A single line, multiple server
system has better performance in terms of waiting times than the same system with a line for each
server. The multiple line configuration is appropriate when experienced servers are used or when
space considerations make a single line model inconvenient. On the other hand, the multiple service
line system provides the customer the option of selecting his clerk, but check out may be considerably
slower (Jones, O Berski, Tom, 1980, p. 91). There are many ways to minimize customer wait times.
One way to reduce customer wait time is to decrease the expected service time. This can be
accomplished by identifying best practices among all the servers, standardizing processes based on
best practices, and enhancing training to ensure that best practices are followed. Also, you may choose
to offer employee incentives that encourage working faster as a way to decrease service time. Another
way to impact customer wait time is to decrease the rate at which customers arrive to be served. If
your service operation experiences peak service hours at certain times of the day when your customers
prefer to be served, then management could offer the customer promotions geared to increase traffic
during off peak times. Finally, by adding more servers you will be able to reduce customer wait

The Energy Of Energy Usage
Introduction
Historically, the distillation of alcohol (spirits, wine and vodka) has been a high end consumer in
terms of energy usage. According to U.S. Dept. of Energy, there are more than 40,000 distillation
columns in North America and they consume 40% of the total energy used to operate plants in
chemical industries [1]. As a result, researchers have focused their efforts towards developing
distillation columns that are more compact, utilize compressors to recirculate latent heat and possess
more effective separation technology in order to reduce energy consumption.
The principal topics of research that pose effective solutions to these present day energy challenges
are: the use of divided wall columns (DWC), self heat recuperation ... Show more content on

[3] shows that by using dividing wall columns, the uninstalled equipment cost for the total column
configuration is reduced by about 10%. The capital costs savings result from a reduction equipment
quantity. There are also indirect benefits; a dividing wall column requires less plot area, shorter piping,
electrical runs and smaller storm runoff system [3]. When compared to a conventional two column
system, capital costs savings of up to 30% is typical [2]. In summary, fully thermally coupled
columns/configurations/ arrangements require less energy than conventional counterparts, because of
providing operating conditions that avoid or minimize entropy of mixing formation, which in case of
conventional configurations occurs, more or less pronounced, at the feed stage, the ends of the
columns, and due to remixing of internal flows [8].
Self Heat Recuperation Technology
In order to separate ethanol contents from water, enormous amounts of heat must be applied to the
azeotropic mixture during distillation. According to Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, an
ethanol water mixture must be distilled at 78.3 degrees Celsius to reach the 80 proof content level of
standard vodka [9]. As a result, the heat needed to distill vodka creates the need to explore sources of
recycled energy. As investigated by Matsuda et al., self heat recuperation technology utilizes not only

The Paris Eiffel Tower

The topic I am going to write about is The Eiffel Tower in France about its structure, history etc.
Because Eiffel Tower is a very significant man made building at that time(1889) and still the most
famous and recognizable tower people could think of in the world nowadays.
1.1 History and background of The Eiffel Tower.
The Eiffel Tower is located in Paris, France, buildt in 1889 and it is 1063 feet tall. The reason of the
name of the Eiffel Tower is because it was named after Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, who was a famous
civil engineer and architect. The tower was built for the International Exhibition of Paris in memory of
the centenary of the French Revolution. It means too much for the french people, it is a sign of ...

*The Eiffel Tower is an excellent viewpoint, to get the whole city of Paris under your eyes, and it is a
great spot for observation.
*The tower saves a lot of land space.
Disadvantage
*Because the tower is very high and famous, it became a very popular place for people to commit
suicide, approximately more than 350 people jumped off from Eiffel Tower and died. So safety is one
of the major disadvantages of The Eiffel Tower.
*The cost is often much higher to build a tower rather than a lower structure, and requires more people
and money to clean or repair from high.
2.5 Interesting facts about the Eiffle Tower
Thomas Edison visited the tower in September 1889 and left a message of congratulations for M
Eiffel .
In February 1912 Austrian Franz Reichelt attempted to jump off the first floor of the tower using his
home made parachute to glide to the ground. Unfortunately during the 60 m drop his parachute failed
to open and he died on impact.
Between 1925 and 1934, three sides of the Tower accommodated advertising space for Citroen which
made it the world s tallest advertising structure at the time.
The Eiffel Tower has featured heavily in at least two James Bond movies, although there have been
many more cameo appearances in a

The Influence of Eastman Kodak Company on Photography Essay
It is considered that photography only became widely available to the public when the Kodak Eastman
Company introduced the box shaped Brownie Camera in 1900. (Baker, n.p.) Its features became more
refined since its original placing on the market; one of the reasons why it has become considered the
birth of public photography is because of the processing. Using a similar image capture system, the
brownie exposed the light to a 120mm roll of film, which could be wound round, meaning six
photographs could be taken before the slides needed removing. The first Brownie used a six exposure
cartridge that Kodak processed for the photographer. (Kodak.com, n.d.) Realistically, the armature

(Bellis, 2009) Nevertheless, the main selling point of digital cameras was the convenient way that they
could be stored. Every exposure is almost instantly saved to a removable disk drive, which remarkably
expired the use of darkroom processing. It was convenient, less time was needed to produce an image,
making it particularly appealing to journalism. The photograph has since then become an instant
process. Combined with the invention of the Internet, and booming industry of personal computers,
the newer technology would expire its predecessor. There are billions of photographs on the Internet,
comprising the largest most diverse photo collection ever assembled. We have access to imagery from
all over the world, using key words and hash tags to catalogue imagery and content; we can see what
is happening without being there. The introduction of digital photography has enabled photographers
to record terabits of imagery which can be stored in minute places, meaning the coverage that we have
of the modern world is greater than ever. Unlike the formats that Henri Cartier Bresson used, where
each roll of film, or negative slide needed storing in a large physical place, under controlled
conditions, an archive of objects. Automation came with digital photography, its combination of
digital components allowed the camera to automatically detect light qualities, and

Summary Of Driving To The Funeral By Anna Quindlen
The short story Driving to the Funeral by Anna Quindlen discusses about the appropriate age to start
driving. The author starts out by stating that car crashes are the No. 1 cause of death among 15 to 20
year olds in this country. Many teenagers start driving at 16 and that is the reason why the number of
car crashes continue to go up for their age group. Quindlen questions why parents of 16 year olds
allow their kids to start driving right away without giving it much thought. Their recklessness only
leads to missing countless high school memories that last a lifetime. Teenagers who start driving early
are known to break protocols, which is one of the reasons of fatal car crashes. One protocol is that

Epic of Beowulf
Where Did the Christianity in Beowulf Come From?
The Christian influences in Beowulf ultimately came from the Christian/Catholic Church of Rome
which converted Romans, and thereby the Roman legions and thereby the occupied provinces. Also
the Christian/Catholic Bishop of Rome sent missionary priests and monks to the British Isles to
proselytze the population. There are additional considerations too.
First of all, let us be clear about the fact that the conversion of Britain to Christianity began quite
early. The Catholic priest Venerable Bede, born in Bernicia, Northumbria, around 673, states in Bk 1,
Ch 4 of his Ecclesiastical History of the English People that while Eleutherius was Bishop of Rome
(175 189AD), a king ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eusebius quotes the then existent works of earlier writers like the Jewish historian Josephus, the
philosopher Philo, Clement, Papias, and church writers like Dionysius of Corinth and Caius who lived
before the year 100. In Book2, chapter14 of the Ecclesiastical History Eusebius recounts how the anti
Christian Simon Magus encountered Peter the apostle in Rome:
He [Simon Magus] undertook a great journey from the East across the sea and fled to the West,
thinking that this was the only way for him to live according to his mind. Entering the city of Rome,
by the cooperation of that malignant spirit which had fixed its seat there, his attempts were soon so far
successful as to be honored as a god with the erection of a statue by the inhabitants of that city. This,
however, did not continue long; immediately under the reign of Claudius, by the benign and gracious
providence of God, Peter, that powerful and great apostle, who by his courage took the lead of all the
rest, was conducted to Rome against this pest of mankind. He, like a noble commander of God
fortified with the divine armor, bore the precious merchandise of the revealed light from the East to
those in the West, announcing the light itself and salutary doctrine of the soul the proclamation of the
kingdom of God.
Since Emperor Claudius died in 54AD and was succeeded by Tiberius Claudius Nero, Peter was
preaching in Rome sometime prior to 54. Book2, ch 15 of the Ecclesiastical History begins

Essay on The Value of Dreams in Hawthorne s Young Goodman...
Young Goodman Brown: The Value of Dreams
Young Goodman Brown The Birthmark Nathaniel Hawthorne s stories Young Goodman Brown and
The Birthmark both make use of dreams to affect the story and reveal the central characters. With each
story, the dreams presented are extremely beneficial to the development of the story as they give the
reader a new view of the plot itself, or the characters within. At the same time, however, it becomes
difficult to determine how much of the dream has been affected by the character, and how much is
pure fantasy. This is true with Young Goodman Brown, who cannot determine whether the events in
his life actually occurred, or if they simply were created in his troubled ... Show more content on

After a night of making deals with the Devil, having all of his fellow countrymen show their Satanic
sympathies and himself becoming affiliated with the Fallen Angel, Brown understandably looks to
account these incredible events to a dream state. However, Brown acts coldly towards Faith after that
particular night, and completely changes his demeaner as he begins to question whether the dream
was, in fact, a dream, or reality. What may have been but a dream turns out to haunt Brown for the rest
of his life, as he can no longer accept the people in his life for what they appear to be, and can not
forget that he saw them all at the witch meeting. In contrast, is the debatable question of whether or
not the dream was only a wild dream (Hawthorne, 318). If Young Goodman Brown indeed did dream
of the witch meeting, then he has wasted his life with his unrestrained, unrelenting paranoia. Because
of the ambiguity of the situation, where neither the reader, narrator nor protagonist can be sure of the
validity of the dream s depictions of the residents of Salem, Hawthorne makes it difficult of analyze
Brown s character. It it therefore impossible to come to any absolute conclusions regarding the nature
of Young Goodman Brown as one cannot accurately assess what has happened to him, and the
consequences of those events.
In The Birthmark, Aylmer has a dream in which he commits an act of

What Is Lucretius Argument Against Religion
Lucretius, a Roman philosopher, was greatly inspired by the teachings of Epicurus. In Lucretius s
book, On the Nature of Things, he expands on many Epicurean principles and at times even alters
them. Nothing comes from nothing , the first principle that Lucretius endorses, is essential to his
argument for the origin of the world. Using this principle, Lucretius against the accepted Roman
religion by adding the concept that divine intervention is not the root of creation, instead he gives
credit to atoms. These atoms, or beginnings of things, he reasoned, came together to form masses
called bodies. The earth was one such body, and it yielded many bodies within it. This entire process,
governed by nature, is what Lucretius believes created the world and everything in it. However,
Lucretius falls short in his argument against religion by indirectly asserting that nature is in fact a
God. Although Lucretius explicitly states in Book 5 of On the Nature of Things, that the true being
behind the world s beginning, Mother Nature, is not a divine being, the characteristics he assigns her
prove otherwise. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, he passionately asserts that the earth herself and Nature [is] the artificer of things . (Lucretius
5. 243 244). Explaining his theory, he articulates that atoms, an integral part of nature, operate under
circumstances in which they swerve a little (2. 219) causing collisions. These collisions led to the
formation of things, both animate and inanimate. In other words, these atoms successfully created the
earth and all the creatures living upon it. In essence, rather than deny the creation of the world by an
unknown force or even by chance, Lucretius simply substitutes the role of the Roman gods with
Nature. Nature, thus, well deserves the name of mother , well deserves the title creator, and well
deserves the title

Central Line Infection Report
For over a decade, healthcare associated infections (HAIs) have been at the forefront for improvement
in hospitals across the nation, with central line associated blood stream infections (CLABSI) being a
frontrunner of HAIs investigated as a major area for improvement. A central line can be either a
central venous catheter (CVC) or a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) and has many uses in
intensive care units, inpatient units, and home health care including administration of antibiotics, TPN,
and chemotherapy treatment. Remarkable improvements over the past decade have been made in

With the original aim of CLABSI prevention aimed primarily at intensive care units, this new
approach sets its sights on decreasing rates in hospital patients in general acute care settings where a

The First Coalition At The Battle Of Waterloo
On June 18, 1815 , Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated by the Sixth Coalition at the Battle of Waterloo.
The Sixth Coalition consisted of the United Kingdom, Austria, Russia and Prussia, who were

They created the Concert of Europe, a system that was designed to create a balance of power between
its members, contain France following years of war, and to prevent the rise of another future tyrant

How Water Transportation Would Be Further Revolutionized...
Water transportation would be further revolutionized by the construction of canals. In 1825, New York
opened the Erie Canal, which connected the five Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. Northern states
like Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Ohio also invested large amounts of money to build a network
of canals connecting the Mississippi to the Great Lakes. As a result s, water transportation was much
faster and cheaper. By 1827, wheat from central New York State could be bought for less money in
Savannah, Georgia, than wheat grown in Georgia. This apparently had a great influence upon New
York, stimulating the growth of economy. Such advantages for the North hurt the economies of

The South, like other slave based societies, did not construct urban centers for commerce, finance, and
industry on a scale rival with those found in the North. Southern cities, instead, were small as they
failed to develop diversified economies and rarely engaged in international trade. On the contrary,
southern cities primarily engaged in local trade. They marketed and transported cotton or other
agricultural crops, supplied local planters and farmers with such necessities as agricultural tools, and
produced manufactured goods, such as cotton gins, sold mostly to farmers. Southerners neglect
industry and transportation improvements, like the railroads and canals of New York and
Pennsylvania, due to the over reliance on slave based system. As a result, manufacturing and
transportation lagged far behind in comparison to the North . Despite falling further and further behind
in respect to economic growth, the south still managed to establish an aggressive sense of nationalism
that was entrenched in its belief of its distinguished character and its illusion about oppressing by
enemies (i.e. the North and blacks). The South began to consider itself more and more as the true
guardian of America s heritage. Southern tourists who ventured into the North viewed it as a alien and

The Culture Of Australian Aborigines
Australian Aborigines Are People identical or akin when their activities and productions are alike
(Mason 101 117)? Amongst cultures, which are geographically far away from each other one can find
very similar customs, industry, fine art and government or myth. How can it be that two people that
have never seen each other have so many things in common? Although every single person may have
their own identity, characteristics, interests and loves and fears, they are all still very similar. Instinct
sameness is the term for every individual being alike. This can be seen in the human psyche, which is
basically the same for every man and woman. Furthermore, every human being craves love and seeks
survival. Both, coming of age and marriage rituals are shared by most cultures. While the rituals vary
from culture to culture, coming of age rituals are usually supposed to mark a boy/girl s entrance into
adulthood. Safety is probably the number one affair we deal with and since the coming of age is the
time where a boy/girl becomes a lot more independent, we want them to be safe. Not every culture
defines a certain age when someone is considered an adult, like in the USA where you are an adult
once you are 18 years old. In cultures, where survival is an everyday fight, coming of age rituals are a
significant test to tell when a boy/girl is ready to survive on his/her own. While coming of age is
essential, the trait of marriage offers a lot more varieties and is handled

Reasons For Improving The Level Of Commitment And Employee...
Q6. Decisions that need to be made. Right now Currently, there is the need to help improve the level
of commitment and employee motivation among the staff at the radio station. Long term In the long
run, there will be the need to alter the organizational structure to set up clear and efficient lines of
command, developing a clear mission and vision that would guide the activities of the firm and
enhancing the working conditions at the radio station by improving the nature of their working

immediately engage in efforts to win the support of the Michigan State University administration. To
achieve this, there are two options that may be pursued. First demonstrate enhanced management at
the radio station and thus portray WEAA as a going concern. This would involve adoption of stricter
internal control policies in terms of employee conduct and improving the firm s financial performance
by engaging in more fundraising activities that would inject more capital and thus, improve WEAA
bottom s line. The other option would be to opt for a more strategic partnership with the University by
highlighting the benefits that would accrue to the institution from the radio station. For example,
Michigan State University would benefit from increased publicity as thus attract a higher student

First, river is playing a very important role of public space in this story. Geographically, the river in
the story is linking both Oxford and London. The River Cherwell is a major tributary of the River
Thames in central England. It rises from Northampton, England to Oxford, England. Then, The River
Cherwell merge with The Isis which is from Oxford, England to London, England. When The Isis
arrive London s territory, it is called River Thames. River first appears as a metaphor while Harriet is
shrugging weather she should go back to Oxford despite the heated discussion of her rumor with Peter
Wimsey. But she doubted whether she were now capable of any such withdrawal. She had long ago
taken the step that put the grey walled paradise of Oxford behind her. No one can bathe in the same
river twice, not even in the Isis. (Sayers 19) This is a reference to Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher
meaning that you cannot step into the same river twice because you are changing and the river is
changing. This is also an indication of the transformation of both characters and place. The

How Does Borges Create A Labyrinth
Once again, the reader witness Borges infamous idea of the labyrinth portrayed through a unique
parallel with a game of chess, intertwined with historical essences, and also intertwined with the
metaphysical, bringing into question the notion of ontology.
Influenced by historical context, Borges story unravels a midst Nazi Germany with the Nazi
occupation of Prague on March 15, 1939. The Secret Miracle opens with the idea of a labyrinth almost
immediately. In relation to many of his other works and in pastiche to other works by authors like
Cervantes, a fictional world/idea transcends to the non fictional, real world, connecting fiction with
reality. The Secret Miracle deals with dream imagery and transitions into adjacent experiences, ...

Borges depicts dreams are mirrored to the source it originates from. Such theme is also evident in
Hamlet.
In The Circular Ruins, Borges audience tries to understand the origin of the dreamer. When the
dreamer finally notices the idea of the dream cycle, the reader then, realizes that the dreamer s
memory had been eliminated by his father as the dreamer had done for his son. In his work, Borges
conveys the notion that the perception of reality depends upon the mind, to shape reality rather than
external substance, reflecting the concept of mirrors. In The Man on the Thresholds the audience again
witness a story within . There is a parallel to both stories, while David Alexander is being put to death
we also encounter the removing of the tyrant. In Hamlet, Shakespeare places Hamlet in a series of
unfortunate events, similar to the idea of reoccurring events in Borges work. Borges concept of the
mirror relates to Hamlet in finding meaning in reality through the dream Hamlet has. Shakespeare
mirrors Hamlets actions in his dream, bringing Hamlet (and the audience) back to where his dream
begins, with his death. Borges concept of a mirror is extremely interesting in relation to magical
realism where characters are set to motion in a realistic fictional world (similar to the world of the
audience) but supernatural mirrored aspects arise thought the development of the

The Practice Of Polygamy Throughout A Wealthy Family
In a wealthy family, polygamous housing consists of a separate housing unit for each wife and her
children (Metz, 1993). These units can be separate houses or houses within a walled family compound
(Metz, 1993). A compound can include a separate house that the men of the family share and use for
male gatherings, such as meals with guests or business meetings (Metz, 1993).
The practice of polygamy is decreasing significantly due to urbanization, education, development, and
the cost of living (Al Saif, 1997). Generally, educated and employed women have more independence
and reject polygamy as a part of their marriage expectations. Gharaib (1991) found that 86.8% of
husbands in the Gulf (Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia) have
only one wife, 9.6% have two wives, 1.1% has three wives and 0.33% only has four wives; 74.7% had
married their relatives; and 25.5% live with their extended families. Al Saif (1997) found that in Saudi
Arabia, only 4.8% of parents approves of their daughters marrying a husband who has another wife.
This rate is much lower than the previous rate of 14.5% (Al Saif, 1997). Traditionally the decision to
marry made mainly by both families and marriage is often contracted by agreement amongst families
in order to expand their circle of alliances and enhance their prestige (Metz, 1993). A partner is chosen
by a person s family, not based on the Western concept of romantic love (Metz, 1993). A woman s
opinion may be respected

Pioneers of Sociology
Pioneers of Sociology * Karl Marx He said that the working class will defeat the ownership class, and
result in a utopia where government will wither away to nothing and the principle of economics will
be based on For each according to his needs, and from each according to his ability. His contribution
to thinking in sociology is mainly in a perspective called Conflict Theory in which social organisation
and change is based upon conflicts built into society. Many people see this as having much
resemblance to classical (Greek and Latin) myths about the Phoenix Bird (who flies too close to the
sun and burns) and creation myths of Athapaskan people of the Great Plains of North America. It is
ironical that he predicted revolution to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He used a multidimensional approach to analyzing society. His interpretation of sociology merged the
economic, cultural, and political organizations of society together as being what shaped social
institutions and social change. Another major contribution by Weber was his definition of social action
as a behavior to which people give meaning; e.g., placing a bumper sticker on your car that states
pride in the U.S. military troops. * Vilfredo Pareto His discovery that power laws applied to income
distribution embroiled him in political change and the nascent Fascist movement, whether he really
sided with the Fascists or not. Fascists such as Mussolini found inspiration for their own economic
ideas in his discoveries. He had discovered something that was harsh and Darwinian, in Pareto s view.
And this fueled both the anger and the energy of the Fascist movement because it fueled their
economic and social views. Pareto had argued that democracy was an illusion and that a ruling class
always emerged and enriched itself. For him, the key question was how actively the rulers ruled. For
this reason he called for a drastic reduction of the state and welcomed Benito Mussolini s rule as a
transition to this minimal state so as to liberate the pure economic forces.

Young Goodman Brown, The Scarlett Letter, And The House Of...
Young Goodman Brown: Analysis of his faith
Personal experience plays a vital role when authors decide on the certain topics for their stories. A
factor like religion may determine an author s writing style. For example, an author who may have had
a Christian upbringing may write about faith, hell, or salvation; in contrast, one who had a negative
experience with religion as a child, may hint at departing from their family and finding one s own
religion. A well known author from the 1800s, Nathaniel Hawthorne, implements his religious
upbringing in his stories, Young Goodman Brown , The Scarlett Letter , and The House of Seven
Gables. The use of certain thematic elements in Young Goodman Brown help readers understand how
the main character lost his faith and became bitter towards religious people.
In the year 1804, Nathaniel Hawthorne was born to Massachusetts Bay colonists; Nathaniel Hathorne
and Elizabeth Clarke Manning in Salem, Massachusetts. Hawthorne s great grandfather, John
Hathorne, had the role of judging during the Salem Witch Trials in 1692 (Means). ... Show more

Faith is also young like her husband. Faith is portrayed as a sweet, pure hearted, innocent woman who
represented Goodman Brown s belief. Her child like innocence is represented with pink ribbons in her
hair throughout the story. Due to the couple being so young and newlyweds, goodman brown was not
strong in his faith and therefore dependent on Faith, his wife s faith to keep them both accountable
Thus, resulting in his own relationship and faith tested (Boonyaprasop 45). When heading into the
forest for his exhibition, Goodman Brown was hesitant leaving his wife alone in Salem. In contrast,
Faith, his wife, begged him not to go for he may lose his faith. Although Faith was not fully on board
with Goodman Brown leaving, she remains whole and hopes he finds the meaning of the exhibition
and comes back

Outline For The Handmaid s Tale
I. Title: The Handmaid s Tale: Through the Lenses of Psychoanalysis and Deconstruction
II. Introduction
A. When reading a work of fiction, multiple ways exist in which to interpet the meaning held within
the story.
B. Utilizing literary theories when reading fictional literature increases the understanding of the
meaning behind the language of the story.
1. Psychoanalysis, specifically Lacanian mirror stage, provides one interpretation surrounding the
identification of self.
2. Application of Jacques Derrida s deconstruction, while some aspects are borrowed from
psychoanalysis, functions differently to obtain the interpretation.
C. Thesis: Within Margaret Atwood s novel, The Handmaid s Tale, both Lacan s mirror stage and
Derrida s deconstruction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychoanalysis Strength: Holland suggests we all read literature selectively, unconsciously projecting
our own fantasies into it and reshaping it to suit our individual identities (Rollin and West 12).
C. Analysis: Rollin and West state, If we acknowledge our personal involvement openly; if we make
clear the choices we have made and why we have made them, we have an opportunity to bring
ourselves to a poem, story, or play more completely than other theoretical systems allow (Rollin and
West 12).
D. Psychoanalysis Weakness: The inherent weakness surrounding Lacanian psychoanalytic theory is
in the basics of the theory formation. Lacan made selective use of citations for his theory and ignored
theories that may have unsubstantiated his claims. This lends itself to the realization of each
interpretation being solely related to the person doing the interpreting. (Billig 6)
E. Analysis: Findings associated with mirror stage theory are highly speculative and relative to the
individual reader; thus, no true fact can be gained from the literature.
F. Closing Sentence: Psychoanalysis, in general, provides a foundation on which to build theoretical
meaning of a literary work. However, as stated, the findings will be different to each person and
relevant only them. Each reader will have a different

The Starry Night By Salvador Dali
Comparative study
The starry night (Van Gogh)
The persistence of memory (Dali)
Invader (ongoing since 1998)
Starry night:
The starry night is a painting that was made by Vincent van Gogh. It s a landscape painting made in
June of 1889. It s an oil painting on a canvas that he painted while in an asylum after he had a
breakdown in 1888. He painted the starry night while he inside of the asylum that he voluntarily went
to. The starry night is one of many versions of the paintings he made. He made many paintings of the
view from his room in the asylum in different weather. Each painting was of the same view however
van Gogh managed to make each painting different from each other and they each were unique in their
own separate ways.

The clocks are melting and there is a lot of mystery in the darkness of the painting. The only objects in
the painting that don t seem to look strange is the small tree on which one of the clocks is melting and
the mountain in the background. The persistence of memory is supposed to represent what kind of
things are seen when in a dream state in Dali s own memory. I think that the clocks are melting
because when you have a dream it feels like it s a few minutes long however when you awaken from a
dream you find that night is gone and the morning is already here, so time does not really happen in
dreams which could be why the clocks are melting as they don t any use.
Space invaders Artist: Invader (His real name is unknown)
Invader is a French artist however his name is unknown and his appearance is also unknown. He
makes his art during the night and wears a mask. His artwork project Space invaders has been ongoing
since 1998 and he is slowly expanding where his art is placed in the world.
He even has one of his mosaics in the ISS (international Space Station) as of 2015.
Originally he wanted to make the space invaders be tiles on canvases but he realized that it would be
perfect to make it directly on walls since tiles are the perfect material for that. He began displaying his
art in public places on walls, and he started off doing this in Paris. Over time he has slowly expanded
the reach of his art and he

Elton John Stereotypes
A big fruity pie that just simply doesn t bake. Is this how we describe one of the greatest albums of all
time, from one of the greatest musicians of all time? Has this only been said because he s gay, or
because he doesn t conform to his gender stereotype? Nevertheless before we come to our own
conclusions we must first get to know the man.
Born 25 3 1947 Reginald Kenneth Dwight, or more commonly known as Sir Elton John, became
somewhat of a child prodigy after he began playing the piano at the young age of four, he could play
any melody he heard by ear. After winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy Of Music at age 11,
Elton studied for six years but dropped out just shy of graduation to try his luck with a rock career. At
age 14 Elton formed his first band known as the Corvettes, which later reformed into Bluesology.
Taking the stage at the Northwood Hills Hotel Friday s to Sunday s playing Jim Reeves and Ray
Charles covers Elton earned enough to purchase his first electric piano. Late in the 60 s at an audition
for Liberty Records Elton John meet with unarguably the most significant person to play part in his
musical career, Bernie Taupin. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bernie has collaborated with other lyricists such as Alice Cooper, but undoubtedly his relationship
with Elton was the greatest. Candle in the Wind, Saturday Night s Alright for Fighting, Bennie and the
Jets and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road are some of the award winning songs written by Bernie.
Strangely it has been said that they have never composed together in the same room, Bernie would
simply write the lyrics and hand them onto Elton who would then leave in private and write the music,
Elton said himself that if the song didn t work within the first two minutes he would simply discard
the song

Homeless End Of The Day Analysis
I would consider my self to be some where in between a liberal and a conservative in this issue of the
homeless. I think that although some of the homeless decisions contribute to the reasons of why they
are homeless, they deserve the help and support. No one is perfect, and I think these people should not
be judged by mistakes they made or by their living situation. The homeless at the end of the day are
also human beings that should be treated equally as others. The article is very sad to read since it is the
reality of what some people actually go through and are still going through at the moment. Its also
amusing how they were all willing to open up to complete strangers about their personal lives. Like
what drove these homeless people

The Prehensile Tailed Skink ( Corucia Zebrata
The prehensile tailed skink (Corucia zebrata) is an endemic tropical squamate that is found inhabiting
all major islands of the Solomon Archipelago in the Southwest Pacific. It is considered to be one of
the largest known skinks and has many common names such as Solomon Island skink, giant skink,
monkey tail skink, Solomon Island prehensile tailed skink, or simply, Corucia. And just as the
common name indicates, C. zebrata possesses the interesting adaptation of a prehensile tail (Vosjoli,
1993). The genus Corucia is monotypic and only consists of C. z. zebrata and a subspecies population,
C. z. alfredschmidti, also known as the Northern prehensile tailed skink that inhabits Bougainville
Island in the Solomon islands (Harmon, 2002). There is an unfortunate small amount of information
known about this species in the wild, but what has been studied and is known, has led to the belief that
this is somewhat of an unusual and ecologically unique species among the Scincidae (Hagen,
Evolution and Ecology of the Prehensile Tailed Skink, 2011).
Physical Description and Adaptations Corucia zebrata have shown to exhibit some degree of sexual
dichromatism and dimorphism, however the differences are not highly distinctive between the sexes in
allowing for easy interpretation (Vosjoli, 1993). C. zebrata have large cylindrical bodies and tails, with
the tails being significantly longer than the snout vent length (Parker, 1983). All C. zebrata possess the

Various techniques and frameworks have been developed to tackle the HSI classification problem. Some of the recent HSI classification techniques can be found in [Yi Chen, Nasser M. Nasrabadi] [12] [17]. In here, we just emphasize the most recent prominent technique in HSI. A. • 5. Our Identity And Belonging Essay We are driven by five genetic needs: survival, love and belonging, power, freedom, and fun, although not everyone gets a chance to experience these things. Belongingness is the human emotional need to be an accepted member of a group. Whether it is family, friends, co workers, or a sports team, humans have an inherent desire to belong and be an important part of something greater than them. The need to belong is the need to give and receive affection from others. When I first cut my hair I felt like I was doing something for myself, doing something that I wanted. Although after a while of being at school and seeing everyone else look at me in confusion and asking if I was a girl or a boy, I soon felt like I did not belong. That I did not fit ... It is human nature to seek comfort and security. You ve changed , after all this time of having long hair perhaps is good to change ourselves a little and change society s opinion on belonging, but in my perspective of change, I have not belonged. After I had realised that people around me were judging my choices and making me into someone I was not, I felt the need to find something that will make me belong, something or someone that will make me feel happiness again. Unfortunately I still don t know what makes me happy to this day due to metal illnesses, but there are little things that make me feel comfortable such as my favourite movies and recently I found a new comfort in books. Professional Singers Enhanced Voice Quality As a result of training, professional singers enhanced voice quality may be related to respiratory, aerodynamic, phonatory, and resonatory/articulatory adjustments. Singers are often trained to onset voicing at varying lung volumes (LVs) to produce voice qualities that are both perceptually pleasing and aerodynamically efficient. The goal of most professional vocal training is determined perceptually by a voice teacher to approach an ideal voice quality for a specific genre (e.g. opera, belt, etc.). • 7. The Future Of Gas Prices The Future of Gas In the not so distant future, gas prices have the potential to hit a staggering $10 a gallon. Government policies also will limit the consumption to each family to a maximum of $250 per month. The cars of this time period have not increased the gas mileage per vehicle to any more than a dismal 20 miles per gallon. Families must find new ways of dealing with this situation and learn to manage only 500 miles of driving potential for the family car per month. The Smith family, consisting of a husband and wife with one beautiful child, proves to be whimsical and creative to manage this. Mrs. Smith is a stay at home mom as they just had their first child 6 months ago. The Smiths chose the home they purchased partly because of its close proximity to many things such as: schools, doctors and a town that is not too far from them. The close proximity to everything needed feels like a warm and inviting community setting; therefore, some people live in a community because it is where they grew up. Others choose a community because it is where they found work, such as the Smiths were able to accomplish (Jackson Sinclair, 2011). The Smiths home location has enabled them to budget the 500 mile a month limitation for now. Urban sprawl has enabled a multitude of families to venture further from big cities into home communities that are less expensive; however, the distance required to most amenities can be vast. It is not unheard of for some workers to commute greater than 50 miles per day. This would not be plausible if there was a 500 mile limitation on driving a personal vehicle. A typical month of driving for the Smiths has been reduced to less than 500 miles; consequently, this makes the carbon footprint they produce very small and saves them money along the way. The data presented in figure 1 above, illustrates that they are slightly negative for the month. This is OK, as the end of the month approaches; they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I find that a common theme replaying across the histories of various dangerous sex offenders is family instability. In modern times the family has become more and more isolated. In addition, people tend to not know or have any involvement with their neighbors further isolating them. Not only is the rocket going to fly higher but also have to test to see if there is a way to thoroughly protect an egg after landing to keep it from cracking/breaking. Research on the average height a rocket flies based on the PSI used showed that the higher the PSI the higher it tends to fly. Experimental Design The experimental question is Will the amount of air pressure change the height the rocket flies?. The independent variable is the amount of pressure in the rocket. The dependent variable is how high the rocket flies. The control is a bottle with just air no water launched at 60psi. Hypothesis If the air pressure is raised higher than the other experimental group s air pressure then the rocket will fly higher because of the increased force pushing off the water to make it fly higher. Lastly, we can t be sure the data is accurate because we only have two group s data so we can t check the data and see if there is a pattern. The Contribution of the Supernatural to Richard III Essay The Contribution of the Supernatural to Richard III During the Renaissance period people were very superstitious and England on a whole was an extremely religious country; people believed in both God and the Devil and Heaven and Hell. They also believed in prophecies, supernatural and curses. A modern audience would have reacted very differently to the play than a Shakespearean audience. The events contained within Richard III must have seemed very real to a Shakespearean audience as it depicts the historical events of the rise and fall of Richard III. For a Shakespearean audience these events happened only a century earlier. To a modern audience it is viewed as what it is, a dramatisation of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Richard III is a play based upon the dramatisation of history. The supernatural is an event that depends upon the superseding of the laws of nature, an event which cannot occur naturally in our world under any circumstances with or without the assistance of any natural being. Only God, or the Devil, has the power to cause supernatural events to occur. Richard III deals with supernatural elements such as curses, devils, dreams and witchcraft. I believe supernatural elements were included in Richard III to add a sense of dread that matches the malice of Richard, to show that divine nemesis exists. Shakespeare created Richard as a machiavellian who takes delight in governing through fear and force. He is a character of sheer evil; however Shakespeare provides a contrast to Richard s villainy via the voices of the female characters. Margaret and Anne contribute by predicting the dire consequences of Richard s acts; they also express their intense hatred through curses. The most common use of supernatural by Shakespeare within Richard III is curses. Curses are magic spells placed upon people with the intention of harm. The desired affect of curses can range from illness to death. Curses are commonly associated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(2) The checkup algorithm: This algorithm is called when the source node suspects that the transmitted packets are dropped. The source first sends the route request and waits for responses from all neighboring nodes with which it gets a reliable route. According to this proposed scheme the source node should not send data packets immediately after receiving the first reply. Timer Expired Table is used to set timer after the reception of first reply. This table stores the sequence number of the packet. Collect Route Reply Table is used to store arrival time. Node s waiting time depends on the distance. Entries in the table help to identify malicious node. [19] presented a black hole detection scheme. In this method, when the source node receives RREP packets, it generates a new RREQ. RREQ has the highest sequence number and it is unicast through the route which the RREP packet was received. Malicious node generates a RREP with highest sequence number on receiving RREQ. Malicious node sends the fake RREP packet to the source node. Now source identifies the malicious node. Use Of Irony In Don Quixote Miguel de Cervantes novel, Don Quixote, is a touchstone for criticism on narrative fiction that reorients criticism towards an emphasis on the formal over the thematic and the playful over the solemn. A majority of the irony shown throughout this work is portrayed through one of the main characters, Don Quixote, whom is an old gentleman that attempts to put his fantasy ideas into action in a prosy world that makes even the meanest intelligence crack a smile. But, as the reader further analyzes the meaning of the text, it makes he or she question his or her own frivolity. This viewpoint depends on whether the reader is willing to take the good or bad side of Don Quixote s crazy; it depends on whether the reader considers that Don Quixote has the correct moral values with madness. This passage portrays Don Quixote s valiance and determination towards Dulcinea as honorable because he charges at the windmills with all of his might, but this passage is also ironic because he is investing all of his honorable valiance and determination on fake giants that are actually windmills. Mother Nature has been around far longer than any of us. Weather is not going anywhere anytime soon and it is our responsibility no matter what our position in the aviation community to understand and deal with these conditions properly. Aircraft icing is not completely preventable but with the proper techniques, tools and knowledge can be dealt with safely. Aviation in general is far to precious and should not be denied by any weather condition. Within this reading I hope one can understand and have a thorough understand of exactly what icing is and how both the aircraft and aircrew can help to prevent a serious mishap form occurring. Title: Subtitle Leonardo da Vinci once said When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return. Aviation today is often thought of as only a mode of transportation to take you from one location to another destination. For others, aviation is a passion and their one and only true love. Aviation in general is expensive and can put a deep burden on your wallet, whether traveling commercially or pursuing an instrument rating while chasing dreams. Have you ever thought of why aviation in general is so expensive? It is not because of the rising cost of fuel or the fancy aircraft you are reclining in but rather the gigantic ... • 20. Customer Queuing Systems The Customer Queuing Systems Luis A. Alvarado Business 425 Instructor Dr. Bates March 17, 2012 Abstract In this essay, two companies will be identified and described on how they utilize a queuing system. Only two of the four most basic waiting line structures will be discussed: single server and multiple server waiting lines. Since waiting is an integral part of many service related operations, it is an important area of analysis. Each queue system has its advantages and disadvantages, but with no doubt each company s goal is to cut down on the waiting time and that customer returns. In particular, we examine their implementation of both processes and try to find solutions to improve the waiting line process. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The multiple server waiting line approach eliminates jockeying behavior. A single line, multiple server system has better performance in terms of waiting times than the same system with a line for each server. The multiple line configuration is appropriate when experienced servers are used or when space considerations make a single line model inconvenient. On the other hand, the multiple service line system provides the customer the option of selecting his clerk, but check out may be considerably slower (Jones, O Berski, Tom, 1980, p. 91). There are many ways to minimize customer wait times. One way to reduce customer wait time is to decrease the expected service time. This can be accomplished by identifying best practices among all the servers, standardizing processes based on best practices, and enhancing training to ensure that best practices are followed. Also, you may choose to offer employee incentives that encourage working faster as a way to decrease service time. Another way to impact customer wait time is to decrease the rate at which customers arrive to be served. If your service operation experiences peak service hours at certain times of the day when your customers prefer to be served, then management could offer the customer promotions geared to increase traffic during off peak times. Finally, by adding more servers you will be able to reduce customer wait ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. The Energy Of Energy Usage Introduction Historically, the distillation of alcohol (spirits, wine and vodka) has been a high end consumer in terms of energy usage. According to U.S. Dept. of Energy, there are more than 40,000 distillation columns in North America and they consume 40% of the total energy used to operate plants in chemical industries [1]. As a result, researchers have focused their efforts towards developing distillation columns that are more compact, utilize compressors to recirculate latent heat and possess more effective separation technology in order to reduce energy consumption. The principal topics of research that pose effective solutions to these present day energy challenges are: the use of divided wall columns (DWC), self heat recuperation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [3] shows that by using dividing wall columns, the uninstalled equipment cost for the total column configuration is reduced by about 10%. The capital costs savings result from a reduction equipment quantity. There are also indirect benefits; a dividing wall column requires less plot area, shorter piping, electrical runs and smaller storm runoff system [3]. When compared to a conventional two column system, capital costs savings of up to 30% is typical [2]. In summary, fully thermally coupled columns/configurations/ arrangements require less energy than conventional counterparts, because of providing operating conditions that avoid or minimize entropy of mixing formation, which in case of conventional configurations occurs, more or less pronounced, at the feed stage, the ends of the columns, and due to remixing of internal flows [8]. Self Heat Recuperation Technology In order to separate ethanol contents from water, enormous amounts of heat must be applied to the azeotropic mixture during distillation. According to Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, an ethanol water mixture must be distilled at 78.3 degrees Celsius to reach the 80 proof content level of standard vodka [9]. As a result, the heat needed to distill vodka creates the need to explore sources of recycled energy. As investigated by Matsuda et al., self heat recuperation technology utilizes not only latent heat but also the sensible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Influence of Eastman Kodak Company on Photography Essay It is considered that photography only became widely available to the public when the Kodak Eastman Company introduced the box shaped Brownie Camera in 1900. (Baker, n.p.) Its features became more refined since its original placing on the market; one of the reasons why it has become considered the birth of public photography is because of the processing. Using a similar image capture system, the brownie exposed the light to a 120mm roll of film, which could be wound round, meaning six photographs could be taken before the slides needed removing. The Christian influences in Beowulf ultimately came from the Christian/Catholic Church of Rome which converted Romans, and thereby the Roman legions and thereby the occupied provinces. First of all, let us be clear about the fact that the conversion of Britain to Christianity began quite early. In Lucretius s book, On the Nature of Things, he expands on many Epicurean principles and at times even alters them. Nothing comes from nothing , the first principle that Lucretius endorses, is essential to his argument for the origin of the world. Using this principle, Lucretius against the accepted Roman religion by adding the concept that divine intervention is not the root of creation, instead he gives credit to atoms. These atoms, or beginnings of things, he reasoned, came together to form masses called bodies. The earth was one such body, and it yielded many bodies within it. This entire process, governed by nature, is what Lucretius believes created the world and everything in it. However, Lucretius falls short in his argument against religion by indirectly asserting that nature is in fact a God. Although Lucretius explicitly states in Book 5 of On the Nature of Things, that the true being behind the world s beginning, Mother Nature, is not a divine being, the characteristics he assigns her prove otherwise. ... These collisions led to the formation of things, both animate and inanimate. In other words, these atoms successfully created the earth and all the creatures living upon it. How can it be that two people that have never seen each other have so many things in common? • 42. Reasons For Improving The Level Of Commitment And Employee... Q6. Decisions that need to be made. Right now Currently, there is the need to help improve the level of commitment and employee motivation among the staff at the radio station. Long term In the long run, there will be the need to alter the organizational structure to set up clear and efficient lines of command, developing a clear mission and vision that would guide the activities of the firm and enhancing the working conditions at the radio station by improving the nature of their working relationship by offering long term contracts. Q7. What I would do if I were Fiske First, I would immediately engage in efforts to win the support of the Michigan State University administration. To achieve this, there are two options that may be pursued. First demonstrate enhanced management at the radio station and thus portray WEAA as a going concern. This would involve adoption of stricter internal control policies in terms of employee conduct and improving the firm s financial performance by engaging in more fundraising activities that would inject more capital and thus, improve WEAA bottom s line. The other option would be to opt for a more strategic partnership with the University by highlighting the benefits that would accrue to the institution from the radio station. For example, Michigan State University would benefit from increased publicity as thus attract a higher student population. This would translate to more revenue in terms of tuition fees. • 43. Gaudy Night By Dorothy L. Sayer Gaudy Night by Dorothy L. Sayer takes place in Oxford, England. One of the most significant place in this book is Shrewsbury College, an imaginative college set in University of Oxford. Therefore, Sayer constructs the story space within the Oxford community. Although the story has a lot of different setting in different places, we must aware of its representation or even symbolism in some significant places. Generally, the places in the story can be categorized as public and private space. This category will also be the skeleton of this essay. In this essay, I will first encounter the definition on both public and private spaces in this story to have a clear sense of the spatial representation. Then, I will use river as an example of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, river is playing a very important role of public space in this story. Geographically, the river in the story is linking both Oxford and London. The River Cherwell is a major tributary of the River Thames in central England. It rises from Northampton, England to Oxford, England. Then, The River Cherwell merge with The Isis which is from Oxford, England to London, England. When The Isis arrive London s territory, it is called River Thames. River first appears as a metaphor while Harriet is shrugging weather she should go back to Oxford despite the heated discussion of her rumor with Peter Wimsey. But she doubted whether she were now capable of any such withdrawal. She had long ago taken the step that put the grey walled paradise of Oxford behind her. No one can bathe in the same river twice, not even in the Isis. (Sayers 19) This is a reference to Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher meaning that you cannot step into the same river twice because you are changing and the river is changing. This is also an indication of the transformation of both characters and place. The transformation of river as Heraclitus suggests is also a symbol of changes in ideology. Her struggle on going back to Oxford or not confirms its ideology on Feminism. She is returning to this quite place, where only intellectual achievement counted (Sayers 18) place, rather than staying in London, a place focused more socially rather than ... How Does Borges Create A Labyrinth Once again, the reader witness Borges infamous idea of the labyrinth portrayed through a unique parallel with a game of chess, intertwined with historical essences, and also intertwined with the metaphysical, bringing into question the notion of ontology. Influenced by historical context, Borges story unravels a midst Nazi Germany with the Nazi occupation of Prague on March 15, 1939. The Secret Miracle opens with the idea of a labyrinth almost immediately. Borges depicts dreams are mirrored to the source it originates from. Such theme is also evident in Hamlet. In The Circular Ruins, Borges audience tries to understand the origin of the dreamer. When the dreamer finally notices the idea of the dream cycle, the reader then, realizes that the dreamer s memory had been eliminated by his father as the dreamer had done for his son. In his work, Borges conveys the notion that the perception of reality depends upon the mind, to shape reality rather than external substance, reflecting the concept of mirrors. In The Man on the Thresholds the audience again witness a story within . There is a parallel to both stories, while David Alexander is being put to death we also encounter the removing of the tyrant. In Hamlet, Shakespeare places Hamlet in a series of unfortunate events, similar to the idea of reoccurring events in Borges work. Borges concept of the mirror relates to Hamlet in finding meaning in reality through the dream Hamlet has. Shakespeare mirrors Hamlets actions in his dream, bringing Hamlet (and the audience) back to where his dream begins, with his death. Borges concept of a mirror is extremely interesting in relation to magical realism where characters are set to motion in a realistic fictional world (similar to the world of the audience) but supernatural mirrored aspects arise thought the development of the ... • 45. The Practice Of Polygamy Throughout A Wealthy Family In a wealthy family, polygamous housing consists of a separate housing unit for each wife and her children (Metz, 1993). These units can be separate houses or houses within a walled family compound (Metz, 1993). A compound can include a separate house that the men of the family share and use for male gatherings, such as meals with guests or business meetings (Metz, 1993). The practice of polygamy is decreasing significantly due to urbanization, education, development, and the cost of living (Al Saif, 1997). Generally, educated and employed women have more independence and reject polygamy as a part of their marriage expectations. Gharaib (1991) found that 86.8% of husbands in the Gulf (Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia) have only one wife, 9.6% have two wives, 1.1% has three wives and 0.33% only has four wives; 74.7% had married their relatives; and 25.5% live with their extended families. Al Saif (1997) found that in Saudi Arabia, only 4.8% of parents approves of their daughters marrying a husband who has another wife. This rate is much lower than the previous rate of 14.5% (Al Saif, 1997). Traditionally the decision to marry made mainly by both families and marriage is often contracted by agreement amongst families in order to expand their circle of alliances and enhance their prestige (Metz, 1993). Pioneers of Sociology Pioneers of Sociology * Karl Marx He said that the working class will defeat the ownership class, and result in a utopia where government will wither away to nothing and the principle of economics will be based on For each according to his needs, and from each according to his ability. His contribution to thinking in sociology is mainly in a perspective called Conflict Theory in which social organisation and change is based upon conflicts built into society. Many people see this as having much resemblance to classical (Greek and Latin) myths about the Phoenix Bird (who flies too close to the sun and burns) and creation myths of Athapaskan people of the Great Plains of North America. His interpretation of sociology merged the economic, cultural, and political organizations of society together as being what shaped social institutions and social change. Another major contribution by Weber was his definition of social action as a behavior to which people give meaning; e.g., placing a bumper sticker on your car that states pride in the U.S. military troops. * Vilfredo Pareto His discovery that power laws applied to income distribution embroiled him in political change and the nascent Fascist movement, whether he really sided with the Fascists or not. Fascists such as Mussolini found inspiration for their own economic ideas in his discoveries. He had discovered something that was harsh and Darwinian, in Pareto s view. And this fueled both the anger and the energy of the Fascist movement because it fueled their economic and social views. Pareto had argued that democracy was an illusion and that a ruling class always emerged and enriched itself. For him, the key question was how actively the rulers ruled. For this reason he called for a drastic reduction of the state and welcomed Benito Mussolini s rule as a transition to this minimal state so as to liberate the pure economic forces. ~ Min ... • 49. Young Goodman Brown, The Scarlett Letter, And The House Of... Young Goodman Brown: Analysis of his faith Personal experience plays a vital role when authors decide on the certain topics for their stories. A factor like religion may determine an author s writing style. For example, an author who may have had a Christian upbringing may write about faith, hell, or salvation; in contrast, one who had a negative experience with religion as a child, may hint at departing from their family and finding one s own religion. A well known author from the 1800s, Nathaniel Hawthorne, implements his religious upbringing in his stories, Young Goodman Brown , The Scarlett Letter , and The House of Seven Gables. The use of certain thematic elements in Young Goodman Brown help readers understand how the main character lost his faith and became bitter towards religious people. In the year 1804, Nathaniel Hawthorne was born to Massachusetts Bay colonists; Nathaniel Hathorne and Elizabeth Clarke Manning in Salem, Massachusetts. Hawthorne s great grandfather, John Hathorne, had the role of judging during the Salem Witch Trials in 1692 (Means). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Faith is also young like her husband. When reading a work of fiction, multiple ways exist in which to interpet the meaning held within the story. B. Utilizing literary theories when reading fictional literature increases the understanding of the meaning behind the language of the story. 1. Psychoanalysis, specifically Lacanian mirror stage, provides one interpretation surrounding the identification of self. 2. Application of Jacques Derrida s deconstruction, while some aspects are borrowed from psychoanalysis, functions differently to obtain the interpretation. C. D. Psychoanalysis Weakness: The inherent weakness surrounding Lacanian psychoanalytic theory is in the basics of the theory formation. Lacan made selective use of citations for his theory and ignored theories that may have unsubstantiated his claims. This lends itself to the realization of each interpretation being solely related to the person doing the interpreting. (Billig 6) E. Analysis: Findings associated with mirror stage theory are highly speculative and relative to the individual reader; thus, no true fact can be gained from the literature. F. I think that the clocks are melting because when you have a dream it feels like it s a few minutes long however when you awaken from a dream you find that night is gone and the morning is already here, so time does not really happen in dreams which could be why the clocks are melting as they don t any use. Has this only been said because he s gay, or because he doesn t conform to his gender stereotype? Nevertheless before we come to our own conclusions we must first get to know the man. Born 25 3 1947 Reginald Kenneth Dwight, or more commonly known as Sir Elton John, became somewhat of a child prodigy after he began playing the piano at the young age of four, he could play any melody he heard by ear. After winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy Of Music at age 11, Elton studied for six years but dropped out just shy of graduation to try his luck with a rock career. At age 14 Elton formed his first band known as the Corvettes, which later reformed into Bluesology. Taking the stage at the Northwood Hills Hotel Friday s to Sunday s playing Jim Reeves and Ray Charles covers Elton earned enough to purchase his first electric piano. The Prehensile Tailed Skink ( Corucia Zebrata The prehensile tailed skink (Corucia zebrata) is an endemic tropical squamate that is found inhabiting all major islands of the Solomon Archipelago in the Southwest Pacific. It is considered to be one of the largest known skinks and has many common names such as Solomon Island skink, giant skink, monkey tail skink, Solomon Island prehensile tailed skink, or simply, Corucia. And just as the common name indicates, C. zebrata possesses the interesting adaptation of a prehensile tail (Vosjoli, 1993). The genus Corucia is monotypic and only consists of C. z. zebrata and a subspecies population, C. z. alfredschmidti, also known as the Northern prehensile tailed skink that inhabits Bougainville Island in the Solomon islands (Harmon, 2002). There is an unfortunate small amount of information known about this species in the wild, but what has been studied and is known, has led to the belief that this is somewhat of an unusual and ecologically unique species among the Scincidae (Hagen, Evolution and Ecology of the Prehensile Tailed Skink, 2011). Physical Description and Adaptations Corucia zebrata have shown to exhibit some degree of sexual dichromatism and dimorphism, however the differences are not highly distinctive between the sexes in allowing for easy interpretation (Vosjoli, 1993).
