Marketing New Inventions Robert Rodriguez Analysis
Robert Rodriguez s Marketing New Inventions is an essay about the difficulties in marketing a new

It was the longest week of my life when I wanted to look up something I couldn t I found myself
writing making a list of all the topics I wanted to look up. It made me realize what a great educational
tool the internet has become over time. Camden county is a prime example how it can be use to
educate student or people who want to learn more about a subject. In many courses the internet is
being infused with homework, test, quizzes, and the textbook is online. Information is so readily
available now because the internet is literally at the palm of your hands. If someone wanted to
research a topic 20 years ago people had to go to the library and take out a big text book and read
about it but now just type it into a search engine and more often than not it will pop up with thousands
of websites that are focusing on that topic. The Internet is such a multifunctional invention it can be

Different Aspects Of A Disease System
DISCUSSION
Zoonotic disease systems are complex and difficult to predict because there are a large number of
biotic and abiotic variables (Alexander et al. 2012). These variables may include biological, genetic,
ecological, environmental, and socio economic factors (Wilcox and Gubler 2005, Estrada Pena et al
2014). However, integrated models can provide crucial insights into the ecological dynamics of a
disease system (Plowright et al. 2008), and they can help inform public health interventions and guide
public health policies (Leach and Scoones 2013). By simplifying these different aspects of a zoonotic
disease system into constrained components that are easier to understand, models can answer specific
questions about disease system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our MTILG analyses revealed no significant concordance between either species in our study area,
suggesting that the movements of mice and ticks across the region are mutually independent. Indeed, a
previous study on the population genetics of black legged ticks in southern Quebec had shown that
long distance dispersal events likely drive tick movement across the landscape (Leo et al. 2015b).
Therefore, examination of tick and mouse distributions across the region should be performed
independently. Nonetheless, disease models predicting zoonotic disease emergence that engage a multi
species approach will produce more accurate risk projections (Estrada Pena et al. 2014) and so our
efforts to model B. burgdorferi emergence simultaneously incorporated both the black legged ticks
and the white footed mouse.
In addition to host vector pathogen interactions our model also incorporated climate and landscape
based parameters. This is because species respond differently to varying conditions and models that
focus on using only single predictor variable risk omitting the effects of variables operating at other
spatial scales (Raghavan et al. 2013, Riley et al. 2015). Studies on the Lyme disease system in North
America have shown that disease transmission risks in any region can be substantially correlated with
landscape heterogeneity (Brownstein et al. 2005),

The Time I Gained To Read In High School
The earliest I have of myself reading is in early kindergarten. Vividly, I remember parking my butt
right in front of my decaying bookshelf. The white shelves was filled with skinny books placed in our
kitchen (at the time my family lived in a small apartment, so the entrance near the kitchen was the
only place to put it). At the time, I picked books of the bottom shelf and try to read the whole stack. I
absolutely loved reading when I was younger. Yet somehow, whether or not it was because I was
forced to read in school, or over a gradual slump my passion died out. Nevertheless, my younger self
was infatuated with reading, and it might as well be worth sharing.
Since kindergarten the biggest push over the course of the year was to read, and being the young, ...

My class had a fantastic book selection for the English curriculum. During the ninety minutes spent
dedicated to either The BFG, Bridge to Terabithia, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, or the Phantom
Tollbooth, and I felt comfortable while my teacher read a chapter or two to us everyday. To this day I
have the books sitting on my shabby bookshelf. I haven t opened them in a long time, but I refuse to
give them away. Not only that but, my teacher once read an Encyclopedia Brown book, and that got
me interested in mystery books. In fact, the next time I went to the library, I got eight Encyclopedia
Brown books and read them all in two days.
By seventh grade, I didn t like to read as much as I used to. It s probably due to the fact that
throughout my school years, reading had to be done, and the type of reading was enjoyable. That was
the case for some of seventh grade, but two books I read in English class stood out to me. One was a
memoir, Red Scarf Girl and the other was a nonfiction book about the atomic bomb, simply named
Bomb. The way the author crafted each book, made me read them over and over in a few

Eunice Kathleen Waymon born February 21, 1933. She was the sixth of eight children born to John an
entertainer turned family man and Mary Kate who became a church minister a poor southern black
family that lived in Tryon, North Carolina.
Her father played piano, guitar, and harmonica; her mother played piano and sang. Her brothers and
sisters all played piano and sang in the church choir, gospel groups, glee clubs and social events. She
started learning music the natural way by watching her family. The Waymon s owned a pedal organ,

jobs to support herself until she eventually started working as a pianist and assistant to a vocal teacher.
One of the college students she taught introduced the idea that she go to Atlantic City and find
employment as an lounge entertainer. Knowing that her mother would not approve of this notion, she
decided to take a stage name. She chose Nina an affectionate term that an ex boyfriend used to call her
meaning girl in Spanish and Simone after Simone Signoret a French actor, because she though it
sounded sophisticated. With her new stage name, she got a job in a small bar and grill off the
boardwalk. At first she just played the piano, but her boss told her that she had to sing or she could not
keep the job. Nina began to put her own style a mixture from her background of classical and gospel
to popular songs. This led to an unexpected career as a jazz entertainer putting aside her dreams of
being a classical pianist.
During the 1960 s, Nina got involved with the current events the civil rights fight as an activist.
Outraged by the events and her own struggles this led her to take action; She used her music to try to

Benjamin Franklin As A Representation Of The Enlightenment
Wade Cobb
Dr. Boeninger
DWC 201
19 October 2015
Benjamin Franklin as a Representation of the Enlightenment The Enlightenment was largely a rational
response to the 16th and 17th century Scientific Revolution, as well as major developments in
philosophical thinking, such as ideas proposed by Rene Descartes. During the Enlightenment, thinkers
emphasize rational and critical ways of thinking, rather than the complete reliance on religion that had
been previously accepted. In many ways, Benjamin Franklin was the human embodiment of the Age
of Enlightenment. Similarly to the Enlightenment as a time period, Benjamin Franklin is influenced
by, but strays from his upbringing in a strict Puritan context in order to establish beliefs based on
reason and the scientific method. Franklin used highly thought out and methodological techniques for
deciding things from a daily schedule all the way to his views on morality and virtue. He was a life
long learner, and like the Age of Enlightenment itself, he put reason as the ultimate factor for
knowledge and decision making.
Corresponding to the Enlightenment, Franklin was affected by his Christian background. His parents
were devout Puritans, and being raised in their household, the Christian outlook left its mark on
certain aspects of Franklin s beliefs. For example, in his letter to the Yale University President Ezra
Stiles in 1790 reveals an important commonality in his beliefs in relation to Puritan, and other Judeo

Argument On Immigration Reform
Immigration has become a very debatable topic in our day and age. Why? It has become an issue of
morality versus logic. Peter Casarella presents the moral stand on the issue and what the Catholic faith
calls people to do. On the other side of the argument is Rusty Reno, who asks people to think logically
about the effects mass immigration can have on a country. Both men present strong, reasonable claims
and at the same time are able to counter each other s argument effectively as well. The final thought
being not who is right, but how can religious beliefs influence policies in a world where influential
nations have a separation of Church and state. Peter Casarella begins the discussion with the topic of
natural moral laws and Biblical principles. According to Casarella Scripture is... a good source for
thinking in normative terms about the migrant (Casarella 2). Catholics are guided by the Bible and in
it they read about how Jesus, Mary, and Joseph too was once refugees, allowing Christian migrants to
draw hope from their example (Casarella 3). Personally, he believes that the most important factor for
immigration reform is the protection of family. That is when he calls for Biblical ethic to be
incorporated into the immigration debate. But as the debate has become a topic of borders and
sovereignty his argument can be countered with the notion of separation of Church and State. With
that the government does not make influential decision within the Church and vice versa.

Christianity In Dante s Inferno
Dante s Inferno details Dante the traveler s journey through the nine circles of Hell. After meeting his
guide, the eminent Roman poet Virgil, in a mythical dark wood, the two poets begin their descent
through a baleful world of doleful shades, horrifying tortures, and unending lamentation. Through his
journey, Dante discovers what it means to be a good and virtuous Christian by learning from the
mistakes of those being punished in the nine circles of hell. In this way it can be seen that Dante, the
poet, defined his notion of Christian purity in terms of the impure, especially through Dante s
interpretation of the nine circles of hell. Dante, the poet, envisions hell as nine circles that increase in
severity of punishment as the sinner descends. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again Dante s guide explains that these are the souls whom anger overcame (59). He tells Dante to
take note that under the water are found Others, who once were grim and sullen in the sweet air above,
that took a further gladness from the play of the sun; inside [them], [they] bore acedia s dismal smoke
(59). Those people that could not move past their own emotions and enjoy the world above are
doomed to this dismal circle of hell. Dante shows that having wrath and misery in your heart is
immoral because it is these people who are doomed to hell. In contrast, those people who forgive,
love, and enjoy the world around them are not condemned to hell showing that a pure Christian must

An Argument Against Abortion Essay
Abortion in America is a controversial issue in which both
sides have valid arguments at face value. The pro choice side has many
arguments to support it belief in keeping abortion legal. Many of these are
faulty, and argue points irrelevant to the issue as I will attempt to
illustrate, thereby eliminating the main pro choice arguments.
The pro life position has somewhat different ideas. The most
popular of these is: The unborn entity is fully human from the moment of
conception. Abortion results in the intentional death of the unborn entity.
Therefore, abortion can be defined the intentional killing of a human being.
This killing is in most cases unjustified, since the unborn human being has a ... Show more content on

The reason this argument doesn t work is because it is begging
the question. In fact, this lie hides behind a good percentage of the popular
arguments for the pro choice position. One begs the question when one assumes
what one is trying to prove is correct.
The question begging of the coat hanger argument is very obvious: but only by
assuming that the unborn are not fully human does the argument work. If the
unborn are not fully human, then the pro choicer has a legitimate concern,
just as one would have in overturning a law forbidding appendicitis
operations if countless people were needlessly dying of both appendicitis and
illegal operations. But if the unborn are fully human, this pro choice
argument is the same as saying that because people die or are harmed while
killing other people, the state should make it safe for them to do so.
Even some pro choicers, who argue for their position in other ways, admit
that the
coat hanger/back alley argument is crap. Although statistics cant establish
a particular moral position, there has been arguments over both the actual
number of illegal abortions and the number of women who died as a result of
them before legalization. Prior to Roe vs Wade, pro choicers used saying that
nearly a million women every year obtained illegal abortions performed

18th Amendment Failure
The 18th amendment made made the manufacture, sale, distribution, and consumption of alcohol
illegal. This amendment was a huge failure because it causes people to go behind the laws back and
drink illegally. There was a secret drinking establishment called speakeasies and there were also
people who provided alcohol illegally and they were called bootleggers. The act that enforced
prohibition was the volstead act.
Congress passes the Volstead Act over President Woodrow Wilson s veto. The Volstead Act provided
for the enforcement of the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, also known as the Prohibition
Amendment. In 1933, the 21st Amendment to the Constitution was passed and ratified, repealing
prohibition. The Twenty first Amendment to the United States Constitution repealed the Eighteenth
Amendment to the United States Constitution, which had mandated nationwide Prohibition on alcohol
on January 16, 1919. The Twenty first Amendment was ratified on December 5, 1933. ... Show more

Congress provided states with a period of seven years in which to ratify the amendment, the approval
took just over a year. The government now found itself with a bigger problem than prohibition of
alcoholic beverages. As the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and police worked to control and
end mob (organized crime) violence, and as the country suffered through the early years of the Great
Depression, lawmakers in Washington reconsidered the amendment. On February 20, 1933, the U.S.
Congress proposed that the Eighteenth Amendment be repealed. Approved by the states in December
of that year, the Twenty First Amendment declared the Eighteenth Amendment null. The manufacture,
transportation, and consumption of alcoholic beverages was again legal in the United States; this
ended the 13 year period of Prohibition. Franklin D Roosevelt, president at the time of repeal, called

Involvement Plan For Family Analysis
Family Involvement Plan
Multiculturalism in today s society has become more prominent and something that needs to be
addressed based on specific as well as on an individual level based on many different aspects. There
are lots of different actions that can be taken, classes, seminars, books, internet webinars and such.
However; I believe that none of this is effective without the interaction and hands on approach from
the parents, famiies, teachers and the school administration itself. We can all sit back and quarterback
a situation, but until it is in our own lap, we don t know how or what we would do to assure that the

groups where parents can go for advice or help where they feel at a loss or are just looking for
guidance. Multicultural planning sessions have also bee a success. I have to say that one of the most
effective and easiest to put into place and keep up with in our already crazy school day is the Parents
as Resource Persons group. This group provides cultural items such as pictures, recipes and
experiences to the classroom. The teacher then integrates learning from the derived materials creating
reading lists, learning centers and even have gone as far as to create a cultural fair. A few other things
that I found to be interesting and feel would be a great asset are a School Family Curriculum. This
group provides those in need with various items to stimulate conversation about their cultures. There
are also Anti Bias Alert programs which will alert parents when television programs are appropriate or
inappropriate to view based on cultural diversity. Parent education support groups work in many

Advantages Of Aquaculture
Aquaculture in the Pacific
Abstract:
Aquaculture is currently of little significance when compared to fishing in the Pacific. There is an
exception, black pearl farming in eastern Polynesia. Aquaculture needs considerable development in
most places before it can be deemed economical and sustainable. Some farming that takes place are
shrimp, tilapia and seaweed (future commercial export prospect). But, all these are still in the
experimental stage. The only way aquaculture can expand is when the Pacific will be provided with
better production methods for current species, new techniques and more new species. These new
methods that can help expansion should be simple yet flexible for easy adapted to the environment
and market constraints. They should have low operating costs and approach integrated fisheries bodies
with favorably low investment cost. It also needs associations with commercial scale operations to
demonstrate economic viability.

coastal areas. These factors are; abundant diversity of coral reef species (high demand), the location is

Soma and its Effects Essay
Soma and its Effects Throughout India s long and colorful history, there have been a considerable
variety of groups who have left their mark on the land and its people. One of the most influential,
however, were the Aryans. In fact, some of the Aryan customs still remain in modern day India, such
as cattle demanding great respect, which stems from the Aryan tradition of using such animals as
currency (Chamberlain). The Aryans were mainly pastoral, relying on agriculture to survive (Bentley
and Ziegler 94). They did not have any sort of writing system; instead, what is known about them is
rooted in oral traditions.. This raises the question of religion. The Aryans believed in various gods and,
accordingly, had songs, praises, hymns, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This demonstrates the helpful benefits of Soma. According to this passage, among others contained in
the Rig Veda, Soma gives its users feelings of great freedom and a general sense of expansiveness.
After ingesting the drug, the user is also said to know no limits (Rig 238). This can help promote a
healthy mindset as it relieves feelings of stress. Additionally, even gods are depicted in the Rig Veda
as having been helped by the effects of Soma. One of the traditional stories about Soma concerns
Indra, the Aryan war god and military hero...who ravaged citadels, smashed dams, and destroyed
forts... (Bentley and Ziegler 94). One significant feat, however, deals with Indra s defeat of a dragon
who lived in the sky and hoarded water in the clouds (Bentley and Ziegler 87). Prior to the defeat,
Indra satisfies his thirst by ingesting copious amounts of Soma. According to the story, after doing
this, Indra goes into battle with the dragon and defeats it by throwing thunderbolts at it. The dragon,
then, releases its storage of rain, which fill seven rivers that flow through northern India and [bring]
life giving waters to the inhabitants of the region (Bentley and Ziegler 87). As a pastoral people, the
Aryans most likely tell this oral story to

How The Invention Of The Diesel Engine Changed In The...
The invention of the Diesel engine changed the way people lived in the industrial revolution. It had
countless long term consequences both positive and negative. Firstly, the Diesel engine helped
businesses, and people selling goods flourish in their businesses. The engine not only helped the
selling and accessibility of goods in the short term, it also aided the economy in the long term. The
invention of the Diesel engine meant that goods were more accessible and money could be gained
quicker. The Diesel engine has some very terrible long term effects. Still today the diesel engine is one
of the biggest producers of pollution. Studies have shown that a Diesel engine emits four times more
toxic pollution than a bus. (Carrington, D. (2015).

The Island And The Road Comparison
The two dystopian texts, The Road is written by Cormac McCarthy and The Island directed by
Michael Bay are great examples of a dystopian world. The Road is a post apocalyptic novel where a
father and son have nothing but the dirty clothes on their backs, a pistol and a cart filled with
scavenged items. Their destination, the coast, although they don t know if anything awaits them there.
The Island is an advanced world where clones of real people are made in order to help their clients
live longer. These two mediums are fairly similar once you go in depth. The two works, The Road and
The Island have common dystopian characteristics which are the use of brute force, alienation and
dehumanization of individuals which is reflected in terms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The man fell back instantly and lay with blood bubbling from the hole in his forehead. The boy was
lying in his lap with no expression on his face at all (McCarthy, pg. 66). In other words, the boy was
so shocked by the situation he was in; this caused him to change his attitude towards strangers. In the
same manner The Island has important character development that causes the protagonists to change
their behaviours. For instance, when Jordan Two Delta and Lincoln Six Echo escaped and went to
Tom Lincoln s house. In this scene there was an altercation that resulted in the client Tom Lincoln
dying, which was a great example of how the characters developed. After this scene the protagonist
realized how careless and willing they were to hurt others in order to get the clones back to the
facility. The scene allowed the protagonist Lincoln Six Echo to develop and take extra precautions to
maintain safety. Six Echo would always be on his toes; look back every so often, and though through
his plans. This leads into the theme that is related to brute force which is that people will do anything
to survive.
The theme that is comparable to this dystopian characteristic is that individuals will do whatever they
can to survive. In the movie the actor Steve Buscemi who is Lincoln s friend says this to

Personal Philosophy Of Missions
Missions is a complex, multilayered calling that then has several layers of philosophy within it. It is
not like an onion that you peel layers back one at a time to find deeper layers within it, but it is more
like an orange, with separate slices that come together to create a complete, holistic piece of fruit. If a
slice gets removed, it still might look and taste like an orange, but it is not quite complete. In the same
way, missions has many slices to it and removing one does not make the others less missional, but
perhaps less complete under the umbrella, or peel, of missions. There are three primary slices that I

Environmental and Organizational Factors
The global business environment is constantly changing. In order for organizations to stay competitive
and successful they need to be able to adapt to those changes accordingly. The biggest factors that
affect organizations are social, economic, and technological. This paper will look at each of these
factors and describe the current major issues surrounding them as well as provide strategies Ellard
Williams, Incorporated can use to take advantage of these factors.
Major Issues Impacting Manufacturing

More people are using social media and organizations can use these websites to advertise and increase
brand awareness to attract more customers (logofatu, 2014).
Economic
Globalization is the one of the biggest economical issue a manufacturing firm will encounter in the
next couple years. Changing consumption patterns, low labor costs in less developed countries, and
growing energy dependency all affect how successful an organization will be in the global market
(akyelken keller, 2014). Consumers follow trends and with those trends, organizations are subject to
success or failure depending on if they can change and adapt to those new trends. Being able to
produce products consumers want is important for a manufacturing firm. Labor costs are generally
cheaper in less developed countries, enticing firms to outsource production outside of the United
States (akyelken keller, 2014). This makes it harder for manufacturing firms to gain new clients and
keep employees satisfied. Along with labor costs, energy dependency on fuel from other countries
affects an organization as well (akyelken keller, 2014). As prices increase for imported fuel, a
manufacturing firms profits go down.
Technological
Technological advances have changed drastically from just a couple years ago. Adopting newer
technologies can give a manufacturing firm a sustainable competitive advantage over their
competitors (jin, ragu nathan, vonderembse, 2013). Benefits from adopting new

Methods of Preparing/Orienting Members Group orientation is a crucial step in establishing a safe and
nurturing environment for all members. Group leaders will give an overview of the group and its
purpose of developing a support system of women who have given up a child or children for adoption.
Members and group leaders will be asked to introduce themselves and group expectations will be
discussed. Group leaders will stress the importance of confidentiality, what is said in group must stay
in group. Members will also be reminded that this group is a support group so supportive
encouragement is encouraged whereas negativity is discouraged. The Group Setting (Structural
Physical) This group is geared to provide support for women who have placed their child/children up
for adoption. Due to the subject matter, the group will remain closed so that the women can build
trusting relationships with one another throughout the group sessions. The familiarity of group
members will create a more welcoming environment for processing feelings and emotions. Group
membership will be voluntary since not all women who give children up for adoption cope in the same
way and therefore a group setting may not be beneficial for everyone. The support group room will be

Chorus Concert I Reflection Paper
On that blistering day, the high school students giggled as they lay stretched out near the walls. Some
of them were aggressively touching one another.
I entered through the double doors, and I signed in while school security officers wand down students.
Then I located the main office, and I accepted my assignment papers titled: Chorus Concert I, (Period
6).
The substitute teachers coordinator told me that I was assigned to two chorus classes.
My instructions were to sit in the classroom and listen to them sing. I felt enthralled by the
assignment. I thought, Fantastic!
All day long, I looked forward to going to Period 6; the symphony class. I could not wait to be amused
by the melodies of talented young chorus singers.
The moment arrived, and I stepped into that rumbustious and loud classroom. Then I scanned the
architectural design of the room. The classroom resembled a mid size basketball gym. The concrete
blocked walls were painted white. The hard wood floors complimented two black pianos scattered in
opposite locations in the vicinity.
My evaluation of the room s facility was interrupted by a BLASTING surprise. For example, there
were 40 energetic students amid one substitute teacher: me. A few, but not all, of the students
hormones, ran faster than a New York City freight train.
After I glanced at what was happening, I said, Goodness gracious! Where is the choir?! I asked loudly.
Why aren t you singing? Come on, vocalize, Sing students, sing! I implored them.
They looked at me with amazement. Assuredly, I felt victimized by a fresh practical joke.
Despite what I felt, I still kept waiting to hear someone strike up a musical note.
Seconds later, I heard, Oh. Uh, um... We don t sing, one of the students jocularly replied.
With raised eyebrows, I said, Huh? What do you mean, you don t sing? Isn t this a chorus class?
Chorus means to sing, right? I asked with a tone of frustration. Since nobody struck up a tune, my next
instinct was to get the class organized. I stopped trying to identify the songbirds, and I walked around
the classroom telling students to complete their written activity.

Money For Complete A College Degree
In some very minute cases I would disagree that it is a good idea to borrow money to complete a
college degree. However, in a most case scenario I think it is a wonderful idea that will help students
in the long run, given they choose a smart career that is financially promising. If a student goes into
the correct field and gets into a job that pays well then they will, most likely, have no problem paying
back any student loans they may owe. Mark Kantrowitz estimated that about 71% of people
graduating with a bachelor s degree would have a student loan. He said It s unfortunate that college
costs are going up and the student aid, the grants, are not going up at the same rate on a per student

there is that if student aide and grants aren t covering the full cost of a student s education, the student
is more inclined to get another loan elsewhere. (Sparshott) Thankfully statistics show that the

What Is The Theme Of Not Without My Daughter By Betty...
The novel Not Without My Daughter is a book by Betty Mahmoody which gives us an insight into the
hard and tainted life the author herself went through being a wife and mother in a stringent patriarchal
society in which a woman is reprimanded and punished for having a voice. The social experiences,
where two societies meet and unite in the ties of marriage are delineated in various scholarly works.
One such work which concentrates on the social experiences in connection to marriage is the book
Not Without My Daughter by Betty Mahmoody. The hero of the story, Betty Mahmoody, a Christian
lady having a place with the Western society gets hitched to Sayyed Bozorg Mahmoody, an Iranian

At the point when a person fitting in with a Western society weds a person who has experienced
childhood in Islamic society, both the people try to adjust to each other s culture. Case in point in the
book Not Without My Daughter, Betty who was brought up in Western society tries to absorb into the
way of life of her Iranian spouse. She goes with her spouse to Iran to spend a two week excursion
there. As she is mindful of the way that a lady is required to cover her head in Iran, she utilizes a scarf
to cover her head even before coming to Iran. She likewise permits her little girl to be named Mahtob,
which was an Iranian name. Through these endeavors, Betty tries to turn into a piece of the way of life
to which her spouse had a place. Betty s marriage was a union of Western society and Islamic society.
Albeit there were numerous distinctions in the way of life of Betty and her spouse Moody, they lived
agreeably after their marriage. Living in America, Betty and Moody drove an upbeat and placated
wedded life. In a marriage where the life partners fit in with diverse societies, it is critical that every
mate adjusts and comprehend the way of life of other companion. In a house where two societies exist,
the kids are raised in a social domain which is affected by the way of life of the mother and father. The
conduct and thinking about the youngsters show the impact of both the way of life. The meeting of
two societies in a marriage has beneficial outcomes and negative impacts. It relies on the life partners
whether they change over their marriage into concordant union of two societies or clashing meeting of

Joe Brock is a minority interest shareholder in Big Corporation. Leslie Ross is a shareholder that owns

of the corporation. According to SFAS 94, due to this control, Leslie Ross must consolidate his

Consideration is given if the majority shareholder owns such a significant portion of the investee that
the minority shareholder has a small economic interest. The larger the disparity, the more likely these
are to be protective rights. In this situation, there is not a large disparity.
b. If the corporate governance arrangements states that decisions are made at the shareholder level,
these are likely to be substantive participating rights.
c. If matters can be put to a vote of the shareholders, these are most likely substantive participating
rights.

Assessing whether the rights of a minority shareholder should overcome the presumption of
consolidation by the majority investor depends on whether the majority investor has control over the
corporation. Judging control depends on many factors, including if a minority investor has
participating or protective rights.
ASC 810 10 25 10 through 25 11
A minority investor that holds protective rights does take the control away from the majority investor
and the owner of the majority voting interest would need to consolidate with the corporation.
Substantive participating rights are granted by contract or by law. A minority investor that holds these
rights can participate in significant decisions that are made in the ordinary course of business,
including vetoing significant decisions proposed by the investor with the majority voting interest. If

What Is Creation Myth
In the beginning, Man was a simple being that walked the earth as one with nature. Just as wild as all
the others. This was when man was clean. Humanity at this point was nothing more than a species of
animal that played at the merciful hands of the Gods. Whether or not you worshiped the creator, The
Aspects, Xan, or Iblees himself. The creation myth is all the same. Descendants. Do you know why
we call ourselves that? Probably not. We call ourselves that to distance ourselves from the animals. As
if we are better than the animals that we forcibly breed. We are one and the same as the very wolves
we tainted and twisted into what we call dogs , or even worse; pets.

His mind had been cleared of man s material needs. Power, Wealth, Sex. The yearn for all of these

The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three, by Stephen King
The second tale in the epic series The Dark Tower begins with a signature Stephen King prologue; all
goes to hell in the protagonist s world before the book even properly starts. In the case of The Dark
Tower, said protagonist role is filled by none other than Roland Deschain, the wild west gunslinger
from a postapocalyptic world (currently Mid World ) not unlike our own. Roland begins the tale alone,
his most recent companion a prepubescent boy, John Jake Chambers, from our own New York set in

This door leads to the mind of Eddie Dean, a heroin addict also from our New York, 1986. Eddie is in

Social Construction
For a lot of people, when the word technology is said they picture something related to or of a
computer or cell phone. Not many people think of the technology found in the field of science or the
creation of a modern day car or even what powers the technology they imagine. Even less think of the
individual parts of the artifact that makes up the piece of tech they thought of or just how long this
science of craft has existed and grown. With such an ever expanding and omnipresent force at work to
make humankind more advanced and life simpler, it s not surprising that other fields have sprouted to
examine how technology is shaped. One such examination led to the concept of the social construction

except this earthquake had people who were experiencing it using Twitter to share their stories, which
led to another group of people who heard about the earthquake using Twitter to get information from a

but they are the best example of interpretative flexibility. Two groups of people both using the same

though the app was still used to communicate with friends, it became more of an information sharing

social media created a new way to interact and soon led groups of investors, celebrities, politicians,

The Bosnian Genocide Was A Mass Killing
The Bosnian genocide was a mass killing similar to the Holocaust that occurred in Bosnia
Herzegovina shortly after the separation from the former state of Yugoslavia, disbanded in 1992 due to
the Yugoslav Wars ( The Breakup of Yugoslavia, 1990 1992 1989 1992 Milestones Office of the

Bosnian genocide was caused by part of the population believing they had second rate citizens in their
land, and with that view established, they wanted to eradicate the ones they deemed unfit for their
country society. Upon the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia crumbling down in 1992, Bosnia
Herzegovina entered a period of instability. The country was recognized as it s own independent
country by the main powers, however there were three groups arguing over land rights inside Bosnia.
The Croat, Serb, and Bosnian Muslim disputing quickly escalated into something horrendous. The
Serbs did not want Bosnia to be it s own country because some of the Bosnian land encompassed
some of Serbia, the Serbs began bombing Bosnian cities and would murder Bosnian citizens in the
cities that were in the land the two countries shared. The Serbs began encroaching on Bosnian
territory, they were led to believe that the Bosnians were the enemy, televised to the Serbs was

disagreement and combination of the former two attitudes. Since a disagreement to someone s idea

someone s idea should continue providing a reason or explanation. Equally, writer who shows a
combination attitude to someone s idea should continue stating the part that he/she disagree and the

Dr. R. Harriet Beecher Stowe, Abraham Lincoln And Many...
When learning about the topic of slavery in school you hear of names like Harriet Tubman, Fredrick
Douglas, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Abraham Lincoln and many others I have not listed. I am not taking
anything away from these brave men and women and their courageous works to end the cruelty of
slavery and how they suffered but there are some who go unmentioned and their stories are left untold.
Have you ever heard of a gentleman named Solomon Northup? Most people have not nor his story and
experience with slavery. Solomon Northup was a free black man living in Saratoga Springs, New
York. Northup had a wife and three children he loved greatly. Solomon was a very busy man, he
worked long hours on a farm. Northup was an educated man who enjoyed reading books and playing
his violin in his spare time. (Northup 1 10) One day two strangers approached Northup and asked if he
would like to join them to perform in a town miles away. Solomon agrees to join these white men on
their journey to perform. Little did Solomon know that these men were in a business where they
capture free and escaped black men to make money. Beginning in 1793, congress passed the first
Fugitive Slave Act which allowed local governments to return escaped slaves back to their rightful
owners. (Histroy.com) This law was one of the many slave laws that brought much controversy to the
nation as it was expanding westward and asking how slavery would work in the new states and if it
would even be allowed.

Food Stamps: Why We Need Reform, And How To Do It
Mornings without breakfast transition to nights without dinner, but the situation does not change for
America s poor and needy. The face of food insecurity is often invisible. Behind lowered blinds and
shut doors, poverty establishes itself in many styles and we attempt to defeat it in numerous ways.
Food assistance programs are the primary tool the government uses to alleviate the hunger pangs and
empty diets caused by nutrition insecurity. Increased government oversight is generally not helpful,
but in the case of America s SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), such government
management would probably do good. Right now, there is an array of problems facing ... Show more

While such images have some truth to them, they are widely unrepresentative of actual SNAP misuse.
No doubt, there is still discrepancy in some places, as in Georgia, where prosecutors busted a small
country store at the center of forty six hundred dollars worth of food stamp fraud (Severson, 2013).
That is just one example of the fading but worrying trend of misuse. The government has put many
efforts into effect, and these do seem to be partially responsible for the decreasing trend [citation
needed]. Arguably, the most important measure taken was the movement from paper food stamps to
electronic accounting, known as the Electronic Benefit Transfer, or EBT. Zekeri (2004), in his paper
on college students using SNAP, states that Although the data presented here are limited, one
conclusion seems clear: the goals of EBT reducing theft, fraud, and social stigma or embarrassment in
the food stamp program are being met. Just in the period 2002 2005 (EBT was implemented
nationwide in September 2004), food stamp fraud was reduced by over 50% from the 1999 2000
period, even as SNAP usage increased [citation needed (FNS)]. Overall, among the most vulnerable
members of society SNAP, the National School Lunch Program, and the School Breakfast program,
have all been remarkably successful at their core mission: reducing food insecurity among low income
schoolchildren [citation needed]. While fraud

Ossification
The Joy of Ossification Ossification and osteogenesis are synonyms meaning the process of bone
formation. In embryos this process leads to the formation of the bony skeleton. As a person grows,
another form of ossification known as bone growth goes on until early adulthood as the body
continues to increase in size. Bones are capable of growing in thickness throughout life.
Intramembranous ossification takes place within the womb and is the process by which flat bones such
as some of the bones of the skull and the collarbones are created from connective tissue. It also is the
process for injured bones to heal and occurs when bones are broken or damaged in order to reconstruct
the bone. Another process occurring during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process is more complex than intramembranous ossification because the hyaline cartilage must
be broken down as bone formation proceeds. There are four main stages of endochondral ossification.
First, perichondrium that is covering the hyaline cartilage bone is infiltrated with blood vessels and
becomes vascularized periosteum. As a result of this change in nutrition, the underlying mesenchymal
cells differentiate into osteoblasts, and the stage for ossification is set to begin. Bone collar forms
around the hyaline cartilage, and osteoblasts of the new periosteum secrete osteoid against the
cartilage diaphysis, encasing into a new layer of bone called the periosteal bone collar. In the second
step of endochondral ossification, the bone collar forms, and chondrocytes within the shaft enlarge.
Nutrients can no longer diffuse once the matrix becomes sufficiently calcified and the chondrocytes
subsequently die. This creates cavities within the bone. Elsewhere, the cartilage remains healthy and
continues to grow briskly, causing the model to elongate. During the third stage which is in month 3,
the forming cavities are invaded by a collection of elements called the periostial bud, which contains a
nutrient artery and vein, lymphatic vessels, nerve fibers, red marrow elements, osteoblasts, and
osteocytes. While the entering osteoclasts

Forward Facing Car Seat Safety
The most exciting part of raising a child is watching them reach different milestones of their life.
From sitting up, to talking and walking, to their first birthday most parents are ecstatic and dismal. No
parent would ever put their child in any danger or to purposely hurt them. But by simply keep kids in a
rear facing position can be 500% times safer. In 100 car accidents, 8 children will die or have serious
injuries in a rear facing car seat compared to the 40 children that will die or have serious injuries in
forward facing car seats. Putting a child in a forward facing car seat, before their second birthday, that
creates uninformed decisions that can cause incomplete growth, serious injuries, and death. First, the
biggest problem is the myths that go along with car seats and car seat safety. CNN reports that 24% of
parents will turn their children around before they reach two. One reason is the huge myth that a child
has outgrown the position of a rear facing position. Most car seats have adjustable positions as the

Although agriculture is the largest segment of Cambodia s economy, tourism is the second largest

style, but they had whole new attitudes and behaviors too. Flappers drank, smoke, drove, enjoyed jazz
music, and had casual sex. They were symbol of women s freedom and liberation, as well as the
symbol of change in women s life and attitudes towards the social norms expected from women.
The term flapper first appeared in England as a popular slang to describe young girls. By the 1890s,
the word flapper was emerging in England as popular slang both for a very young prostitute, and in a
more general and less derogatory sense of any lively mid teenage girl. (Wikipedia) The term flapper
stuck and emerged in the United States during the Roaring Twenties, representing young, liberated
women. Many authors and artists used the term and even serious newspaper such as The New York

The Younger Of Two And Were Living On William And The New...
Zachariah was the younger of these two and was living on William s farm. His life there would not be
as harsh as his southern brothers in that the slaves of Missouri were encouraged to invent and innovate
on the newly broken in lands and the new types of grains. In addition, being biracial he would have
been more trusted and hence had more significant contact with the whole of William s family which
by 1845 numbered 5 children. He also had slave brothers and sisters: 3 men, 2 women, 4 boys and 4
girls of which he was the third eldest at 9. As a slave Zachariah would typically have Saturday
afternoons off but may have attended small fields owned by his fellow slaves in order to grow their
own produce for themselves or profit. Given enough profit and with some luck they could buy their
freedom. This is not to paint a rosy picture of young Zachariah s childhood. He was property and was
grimly listed as such in the 1840 and 1850 slave schedules. Slaves could not marry, smoke in public
nor walk with a cane. Life expectancy was 22. Plus, throughout his childhood Zachariah could not
attend school as that was made illegal in Missouri in 1847. Even the St. Louis steamboat school for
black children on the Mississippi river was just too far away, even if he could get permission. He
could have gotten some help from his white teacher cousin Edmund but he was also just a few miles
too far south. Hence, apart from his name, he would never learn to read or write. He did learn to be

Situational Transitions
In life people constantly experience changes. Whether the change is bad, good, expected or
unexpected, it always occurs. Similarly, people also go through transitions. However, unlike change,
which is a shift in what a person is used to, a transition is a turning point that often causes a major
reshaping in a person s life (Transitions Class Notes, 2010). There are five types of transitions that a
person can experience. The transitions include developmental, health illness, organizational,
situational, and multiple (Situational Transitions Class Notes, 2012). A situational transition in
particular is when a person experiences a reshaping in their lifestyle (Hampton, 2010). That being
said, immigration is considered to be a situational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another difference noted between the articles is that Perriera et al. (2007) focuses more on Latino
immigrant youth whereas Birman et al. (2007) and Gaytan et al. (2007) do not draw on a particular
ethnic group but on immigrant youth in general. Evidently, migrating to a new country can be
challenging for immigrant youth. Having a lack of resources available to meet their needs and family
conflict surrounding cultural preferences, can lead to the youth to have feelings of powerlessness and
despair. Powerlessness is the perception that one lacks the capacity or authority to affect an outcome
(Situational Transitions Class Notes, 2012). Without the proper resources available to immigrant youth
in their new culture and surroundings, they can feel as if there is nothing they can do to assist them to
progress in their new life. Also, because of family conflict, youth may feel as if they cannot talk to
their parents about their difficulties and therefore have nobody to support them through this
challenging time. This can cause them to feel defeated and believe themselves to be inadequate in
their capabilities. As a result, feelings of guilt and shame can arise, which in turn can cause them to
have a consistent negative outlook and continuously cause them to believe that they will fail. It is
important to recognize the impact of feeling of powerlessness as it can significantly affect the ability
of the newcomer youth

Essay on Elephants Should be Protected
The official title of the world s largest land dwelling animal belongs to the elephant, more specifically,
the African elephant. Elephants are some of the most deadly animals, which increases the danger of
human and elephant interactions. Increased human and elephant interactions lead to increased deaths
of both humans and elephants. Surprisingly, these animals are socially apt. The trunk is used for more
than just eating and drinking; it is used for socializing. They are complex animals who live in large
familial herds. Females stay with their family throughout their entire lives while males only stay for
approximately fifteen years (Elephant Protection 1). Elephants possess a great memory and only forget
what they learn occasionally and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elephant populations suffered a drop in numbers that carried the species into the endangered animals
list. At the beginning of the twentieth century, about ten million elephants lived in Africa. Presently,
the ten million is reduced to half a million because of illegal hunting and habitat loss. Studies of the
population show twenty two thousand were killed in 2012 and twenty five thousand in 2011. When
comparing the death rate to the natural population growth, there is a possibility the largest mammal on
Earth could be extinct soon (Vaughan 1). Because the elephant is the largest animal to walk on land,
the greatly increasing human population affects the elephant population first. They live in some
regions of the world that have the densest human population which continues to grow, which therefore
continuously decreases their own population (Bryner 1). As the human population swiftly increases,
the elephant population in turn, decreases. This is so because they cannot cohabitate the same living
space. Elephants and humans cannot cohabitate because they would kill each other due to the inability
to communicate. About population recovery, the Animal wildlife foundation states, Populations of
elephants especially in Southern and Eastern Africa that once showed promising signs of recovery
could be at risk due to the recent surge in poaching for the illegal ivory trade (1). Poaching presents
one of the main issues that make recovery so difficult for these animals.

Favorite Characters In The Hiding Place By Corrie Ten Boom
While reading The Hiding Place, I was frequently inspired by the power and insight behind Corrie ten
Boom s words. However, two of her statements particularly stood out to me. The first was when she
had said Some knowledge is too heavy... you cannot bear it...your father will carry it until you are
able. (ten Boom 175) This phrase is so meaningful because it was a lesson she had learned from her
own father when she was young, but now she uses it in her own teaching and relates it to her heavenly
father as well. The second quote that stood out to me was when she had said His will is our hiding
place. Lord Jesus, keep me in Your will. (ten Boom 234) This statement refers to Corrie s realization
of how everything had happened for a reason. This was her protection or hiding place through the
horrors of the concentration camp and her personal losses. I found these two quotes to be the most
perceptive phrases of Corrie s that spoke to me the most. My favorite character in The Hiding Place
would undeniably be Corrie s older sister, Betsie ten Boom. Betsie ten Boom was portrayed with an
incredible sense of optimism and faith that could shine a light at the darkest of times. Another quality I
admired was her merciful heart that managed to feel sorrow for enemies and be quick to forgive.
Betsie s positivity, forgiveness and faithfulness all contributed to create a remarkable personality and
character in this particular novel.

Sonnet Elizabeth Bishop Analysis
Close Reading of Sonnet by Elizabeth Bishop
Elizabeth Bishop s poem, Sonnet bears little resemblance to its namesake at first glance. Bishop plays
with our expectations, molding the well known sonnet form into something new. She transforms the
meter and rhyme scheme of the sonnet to the point of metamorphosis, but she retains the skeletal
structure of the form; fourteen lines broken down into the customary octave and sestet. Her invocation
and subsequent subversion of the anticipated poetic form provide her with a baseline to branch off
from and without that context, the structure would not have the same effect on the poem s meaning.
The structure of the first line sets the tone for the octave. Bishop begins in media ras with Caught (l. 1)
but immediately undercuts that momentum with an em dash. This structure manifests the instability of
the poem which is then picked up by words such as level (l. 2), wobbling and wavering (l. 5), bevel (l.
11), and wherever (l. 13). This is just the first example of structure reinforcing meaning in Sonnet
Caught (l. 1) also introduces the central theme of freedom and confinement. We see the confinement
motif play out in the octave with enclosed imagery such as the bubble (l. 1) or even the compass (l. 4).
However, instead of explicitly introducing contrast into the first part of the poem, Bishop structures
the sonnet as a progression, first focusing on confinement before moving to freedom. The sonnet as a
progression

Entitlement For Fast Food
Horgan, 1
Entitlement
We have all been taught that one must work for what is desired. We start learning at a young age if one
does something for someone else, typically a form of pay would be returned. The pay one had earned
would range from candy to money, depending on the type and the amount of work that was completed.
Then, when one is essentially sixteen years of age, he or she would be able to obtain a job in fast food
as a crew member. This new fast food job is glamorous to the sixteen year old; however, it is not seen
as an advanced career opportunity. Nevertheless, Fast food employees believe they are entitled to a
higher wage than state minimum wage. The crew members in fast food are demanding fifteen dollars
an hour. There are many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(McDonald?s) So, a crew member at McDonald?s wants to be entitled to $15 an hour, which is
$31,200 annually full time. As a crew member at McDonald?s, one would need to have customer
service and a smile. Another point stated on the McDonald?s web site is, ?People who wish to enter
our management programms need either a degree, or relevant work experience? (McDonald).
Therefore, they may or may not require any education. In the quote stated above, you may notice
programs spelled ?programms?. This misspelling proves how uneducated fast food employees actually
are, but they want to be paid more than those in a vital position of society that obtain an education.
Fast food employees have some valid points on why they are demanding this higher wage.
International Business Times states, ?Many McDonald?s cooks and cashiers make wages that put
them at or below the poverty line, and many say they cannot support their families at the rates offered
by McDonald?s owned locations and franchisees? stores? (Morris). However, there are options
available to rise above and excel in a better, more achieving career. Working as a crew member in fast
food is not a career, it is an opportunity to make some money when you are finishing high school. Mr.
Schlooser states, fast food employers prefer to hire teenagers and undereducated people (Schlooser).
Fast food is not meant to be

Home Depot Finance Case Essay
II. Background Information
The Home Depot Inc. was founded in 1978 and is the world s largest home improvement retailer and
the second largest retailer in the United States. The sales for the fiscal year 2000 were $45.7 billion,
compared to $38.4 billion in fiscal 1999. As of January 2001, the company was operating 1,134 retail
stores in forty seven states, six Canadian provinces, Puerto Rico, Chile and Argentina.
Home Depot stores sell a wide assortment of building materials, home improvement and garden
products. Twenty six EXPO Design Center stores sell products and services primarily for design and
renovation projects. Additionally, the company operates four Villager s Hardware test stores, which

The basic EXPO Design center is approximately 90,000 square feet. Newly acquired companies,
Georgia Lighting Inc. and Apex Supply Company Inc., are each operated by Home Depot Inc. as a
wholly owned subsidiary. Georgia Lighting, a leading specialty lighting designer, distributor and
retailer, has six retail locations. Apex Supply Company is a wholesale supplier of plumbing, HVAC
and other related professional products, with twenty one locations in Georgia, Tennessee and South
Carolina.
The co founder of Home Depot Inc. retired as co chairman on May 30, 2001. Arthur Blank, 58 years
old, ran Home Depot since its inception in 1978 and was chief executive from May 1997 to December
2000. He will not seek re election to the board. Co founder Bernie Marcus, 71, the company s other co
chairman, is expected to continue as chairman. Blank decided to retire sooner than he had planned,
primarily because of what he called the successful transition of leadership to CEO Robert Nardelli, a
former General Electric Co. executive and the first outsider at Home Depot s helm. Nardelli, 52,
replaced Blank as CEO on December 5, 2000.
When Blank was CEO, sales more than doubled to $45.7 billion last year from fiscal 1996, and the
stock price almost quadrupled, helping to make Home Depot sixth on the Fortune magazine s list of
most Admired Companies in America. The magazine also ranked Home Depot as

Narcotics Anonymous Meeting Analysis
Through my observations of the Narcotics Anonymous meeting I believe that my analysis could be
beneficial to the realm of medicine. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2014) released a
study that displayed, health care providers wrote 259 million prescriptions for painkillers in 2012,
enough for every American adult to have a bottle of pills. Considering the mass amount of
prescriptions being written nationwide, it is not surprising that one of the members in the NA meeting
I attended was able to easily obtain painkillers from her doctor. The specific interaction I encountered
during the Narcotics Anonymous meeting where the woman described that her addiction was being
supported by the constant prescriptions written by her doctor ... Show more content on

The word epidemic itself spreads fear throughout society, however fluctuations in drug use are
considered epidemics, which may not instill fear into the general public. Due to the fact that the CDC
considers opioid overdose as a national epidemic, it may be confused to what this epidemic entails.
This is not saying that the misuse and rising overdoses due to opioid painkillers is not a serious
problem, it just may render the severity of the problem. In addition, because the CDC does consider
the rise of overdoses due to painkillers an epidemic, the access to treatment needs to be more widely
available. Through one of the interactions I had during my time at the NA meeting, I was able to
understand that many people feel as though they do not or did not have access to help. Dan Mangan
(2016), writes, [a] survey released Tuesday by the Kaiser Family Foundation also found that a large
majority of Americans believe that lack of access to care for people suffering from substance abuse is
a problem in the United States. In this, those who work in medicine should take from my supporting
observations and numerous studies that access to recovery programs need to become more widely
available. If the United States is going to consider the use of opioid painkillers as an epidemic, action
needs to be taken to assist addicts and educate the nation on the effects of these

The Craigslist Killer Essay examples
In America there are numerous killers that have shocked the nation, but one killer in particular had the
world completely dumbfounded. It was the Craigslist Killer who would have many people asking
questions and wondering why a soon to be graduate from medical school would commit such evil acts.
With graduation right around the corner and wedding plans to make with his fiancé, he seemed to have
the world at his feet. So who is the Craigslist Killer ?
Philip Markoff, also known as the Craigslist Killer , was born February 12, 1986. He grew up in
Sherrill, New York, outside of Syracuse. He was the son of a dentist and of an educator turned casino
worker. Markoff attended Vernon Sherrill Central School, where he was on the bowling team, ... Show

With the knife he also cut the phone lines in the hotel room. Leffler noticed that although Markoff had
gloves with him, he had yet to put the gloves on, meaning that his fingerprints were all over the tape
he had used on her. He soon then exited the room and left Leffler there tied up. Leffler waited a while
then freed herself from the zip ties and went to her neighbor s room and asked them to call security,
that she had just been robbed at gunpoint. Boston police soon arrived at the hotel and immediately
started questioning Leffler (Source 7).
Just four days after Markoff attacked Leffler, he was on the prowl again, but this time it would in end
murder. His next victim would be Julissa Brisman, a masseuse and former call girl that Markoff met at
the Copley Marriot hotel in Boston, Massachusetts on April 14, 2009 at 10:00 p.m. (Source 1).
Thirteen minutes later police discovered Brisman in the doorway of her room after receiving reports of
a disturbance. Brisman was found unconscious with multiple gun wounds; one in particular was to the
heart (Source 4).She was transferred to Boston Medical Center and was pronounced dead, causes were
because of multiple injuries (Source 1). Brisman was just a 26 year old young lady doing her best
battling alcoholism. The Boston police soon realized how seriously dangerous the Craigslist Killer
really was (Source 4). Shortly after Brisman s murder another assault was reported, matching the same

Camden county is a prime example how it can be use to educate student or people who want to learn more about a subject. In many courses the internet is being infused with homework, test, quizzes, and the textbook is online. Information is so readily available now because the internet is literally at the palm of your hands. If someone wanted to research a topic 20 years ago people had to go to the library and take out a big text book and read about it but now just type it into a search engine and more often than not it will pop up with thousands of websites that are focusing on that topic. • 3. Different Aspects Of A Disease System DISCUSSION Zoonotic disease systems are complex and difficult to predict because there are a large number of biotic and abiotic variables (Alexander et al. 2012). These variables may include biological, genetic, ecological, environmental, and socio economic factors (Wilcox and Gubler 2005, Estrada Pena et al 2014). However, integrated models can provide crucial insights into the ecological dynamics of a disease system (Plowright et al. 2008), and they can help inform public health interventions and guide public health policies (Leach and Scoones 2013). By simplifying these different aspects of a zoonotic disease system into constrained components that are easier to understand, models can answer specific questions about disease system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our MTILG analyses revealed no significant concordance between either species in our study area, suggesting that the movements of mice and ticks across the region are mutually independent. Indeed, a previous study on the population genetics of black legged ticks in southern Quebec had shown that long distance dispersal events likely drive tick movement across the landscape (Leo et al. 2015b). Therefore, examination of tick and mouse distributions across the region should be performed independently. Nonetheless, disease models predicting zoonotic disease emergence that engage a multi species approach will produce more accurate risk projections (Estrada Pena et al. 2014) and so our efforts to model B. burgdorferi emergence simultaneously incorporated both the black legged ticks and the white footed mouse. In addition to host vector pathogen interactions our model also incorporated climate and landscape based parameters. This is because species respond differently to varying conditions and models that focus on using only single predictor variable risk omitting the effects of variables operating at other spatial scales (Raghavan et al. 2013, Riley et al. 2015). Studies on the Lyme disease system in North America have shown that disease transmission risks in any region can be substantially correlated with landscape heterogeneity (Brownstein et al. 2005), ... • 4. The Time I Gained To Read In High School The earliest I have of myself reading is in early kindergarten. Vividly, I remember parking my butt right in front of my decaying bookshelf. The white shelves was filled with skinny books placed in our kitchen (at the time my family lived in a small apartment, so the entrance near the kitchen was the only place to put it). At the time, I picked books of the bottom shelf and try to read the whole stack. I absolutely loved reading when I was younger. Yet somehow, whether or not it was because I was forced to read in school, or over a gradual slump my passion died out. Nevertheless, my younger self was infatuated with reading, and it might as well be worth sharing. Since kindergarten the biggest push over the course of the year was to read, and being the young, ... During the ninety minutes spent dedicated to either The BFG, Bridge to Terabithia, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, or the Phantom Tollbooth, and I felt comfortable while my teacher read a chapter or two to us everyday. To this day I have the books sitting on my shabby bookshelf. I haven t opened them in a long time, but I refuse to give them away. Not only that but, my teacher once read an Encyclopedia Brown book, and that got me interested in mystery books. In fact, the next time I went to the library, I got eight Encyclopedia Brown books and read them all in two days. By seventh grade, I didn t like to read as much as I used to. It s probably due to the fact that throughout my school years, reading had to be done, and the type of reading was enjoyable. That was the case for some of seventh grade, but two books I read in English class stood out to me. One was a memoir, Red Scarf Girl and the other was a nonfiction book about the atomic bomb, simply named Bomb. The way the author crafted each book, made me read them over and over in a few ... Her father played piano, guitar, and harmonica; her mother played piano and sang. Her brothers and sisters all played piano and sang in the church choir, gospel groups, glee clubs and social events. Holding various jobs to support herself until she eventually started working as a pianist and assistant to a vocal teacher. One of the college students she taught introduced the idea that she go to Atlantic City and find employment as an lounge entertainer. Knowing that her mother would not approve of this notion, she decided to take a stage name. She chose Nina an affectionate term that an ex boyfriend used to call her meaning girl in Spanish and Simone after Simone Signoret a French actor, because she though it sounded sophisticated. With her new stage name, she got a job in a small bar and grill off the boardwalk. At first she just played the piano, but her boss told her that she had to sing or she could not keep the job. Nina began to put her own style a mixture from her background of classical and gospel to popular songs. This led to an unexpected career as a jazz entertainer putting aside her dreams of being a classical pianist. During the 1960 s, Nina got involved with the current events the civil rights fight as an activist. • 6. Benjamin Franklin As A Representation Of The Enlightenment Wade Cobb Dr. Boeninger DWC 201 19 October 2015 Benjamin Franklin as a Representation of the Enlightenment The Enlightenment was largely a rational response to the 16th and 17th century Scientific Revolution, as well as major developments in philosophical thinking, such as ideas proposed by Rene Descartes. During the Enlightenment, thinkers emphasize rational and critical ways of thinking, rather than the complete reliance on religion that had been previously accepted. In many ways, Benjamin Franklin was the human embodiment of the Age of Enlightenment. Similarly to the Enlightenment as a time period, Benjamin Franklin is influenced by, but strays from his upbringing in a strict Puritan context in order to establish beliefs based on reason and the scientific method. Franklin used highly thought out and methodological techniques for deciding things from a daily schedule all the way to his views on morality and virtue. He was a life long learner, and like the Age of Enlightenment itself, he put reason as the ultimate factor for knowledge and decision making. Corresponding to the Enlightenment, Franklin was affected by his Christian background. His parents were devout Puritans, and being raised in their household, the Christian outlook left its mark on certain aspects of Franklin s beliefs. For example, in his letter to the Yale University President Ezra Stiles in 1790 reveals an important commonality in his beliefs in relation to Puritan, and other Judeo Christian ... • 7. Argument On Immigration Reform Immigration has become a very debatable topic in our day and age. Why? It has become an issue of morality versus logic. Peter Casarella presents the moral stand on the issue and what the Catholic faith calls people to do. On the other side of the argument is Rusty Reno, who asks people to think logically about the effects mass immigration can have on a country. Both men present strong, reasonable claims and at the same time are able to counter each other s argument effectively as well. The final thought being not who is right, but how can religious beliefs influence policies in a world where influential nations have a separation of Church and state. Peter Casarella begins the discussion with the topic of natural moral laws and Biblical principles. According to Casarella Scripture is... a good source for thinking in normative terms about the migrant (Casarella 2). Catholics are guided by the Bible and in it they read about how Jesus, Mary, and Joseph too was once refugees, allowing Christian migrants to draw hope from their example (Casarella 3). Personally, he believes that the most important factor for immigration reform is the protection of family. That is when he calls for Biblical ethic to be incorporated into the immigration debate. But as the debate has become a topic of borders and sovereignty his argument can be countered with the notion of separation of Church and State. With that the government does not make influential decision within the Church and vice versa. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Christianity In Dante s Inferno Dante s Inferno details Dante the traveler s journey through the nine circles of Hell. After meeting his guide, the eminent Roman poet Virgil, in a mythical dark wood, the two poets begin their descent through a baleful world of doleful shades, horrifying tortures, and unending lamentation. Through his journey, Dante discovers what it means to be a good and virtuous Christian by learning from the mistakes of those being punished in the nine circles of hell. In this way it can be seen that Dante, the poet, defined his notion of Christian purity in terms of the impure, especially through Dante s interpretation of the nine circles of hell. Dante, the poet, envisions hell as nine circles that increase in severity of punishment as the sinner descends. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He tells Dante to take note that under the water are found Others, who once were grim and sullen in the sweet air above, that took a further gladness from the play of the sun; inside [them], [they] bore acedia s dismal smoke (59). Those people that could not move past their own emotions and enjoy the world above are doomed to this dismal circle of hell. • 9. An Argument Against Abortion Essay Abortion in America is a controversial issue in which both sides have valid arguments at face value. The pro choice side has many arguments to support it belief in keeping abortion legal. Many of these are faulty, and argue points irrelevant to the issue as I will attempt to illustrate, thereby eliminating the main pro choice arguments. The pro life position has somewhat different ideas. The most popular of these is: The unborn entity is fully human from the moment of conception. Abortion results in the intentional death of the unborn entity. Therefore, abortion can be defined the intentional killing of a human being. This killing is in most cases unjustified, since the unborn human being has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason this argument doesn t work is because it is begging the question. In fact, this lie hides behind a good percentage of the popular arguments for the pro choice position. One begs the question when one assumes what one is trying to prove is correct. The question begging of the coat hanger argument is very obvious: but only by assuming that the unborn are not fully human does the argument work. If the unborn are not fully human, then the pro choicer has a legitimate concern, just as one would have in overturning a law forbidding appendicitis operations if countless people were needlessly dying of both appendicitis and illegal operations. But if the unborn are fully human, this pro choice

This amendment was a huge failure because it causes people to go behind the laws back and drink illegally. There was a secret drinking establishment called speakeasies and there were also people who provided alcohol illegally and they were called bootleggers. The act that enforced prohibition was the volstead act. Congress passes the Volstead Act over President Woodrow Wilson s veto. The Volstead Act provided for the enforcement of the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, also known as the Prohibition Amendment. In 1933, the 21st Amendment to the Constitution was passed and ratified, repealing prohibition. Congress provided states with a period of seven years in which to ratify the amendment, the approval took just over a year. The government now found itself with a bigger problem than prohibition of alcoholic beverages. As the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and police worked to control and end mob (organized crime) violence, and as the country suffered through the early years of the Great Depression, lawmakers in Washington reconsidered the amendment. On February 20, 1933, the U.S. Congress proposed that the Eighteenth Amendment be repealed. Approved by the states in December of that year, the Twenty First Amendment declared the Eighteenth Amendment null. • 12. Involvement Plan For Family Analysis Family Involvement Plan Multiculturalism in today s society has become more prominent and something that needs to be addressed based on specific as well as on an individual level based on many different aspects. There are lots of different actions that can be taken, classes, seminars, books, internet webinars and such. However; I believe that none of this is effective without the interaction and hands on approach from the parents, famiies, teachers and the school administration itself. We can all sit back and quarterback a situation, but until it is in our own lap, we don t know how or what we would do to assure that the children that this effects is provided with the equal educational opportunities that they deserve. We have school advisory groups where parents can go for advice or help where they feel at a loss or are just looking for guidance. Multicultural planning sessions have also bee a success. I have to say that one of the most effective and easiest to put into place and keep up with in our already crazy school day is the Parents as Resource Persons group. This group provides cultural items such as pictures, recipes and experiences to the classroom. The teacher then integrates learning from the derived materials creating reading lists, learning centers and even have gone as far as to create a cultural fair. A few other things that I found to be interesting and feel would be a great asset are a School Family Curriculum. This group provides those in need with various items to stimulate conversation about their cultures. • 13. Advantages Of Aquaculture Aquaculture in the Pacific Abstract: Aquaculture is currently of little significance when compared to fishing in the Pacific. There is an exception, black pearl farming in eastern Polynesia. Aquaculture needs considerable development in most places before it can be deemed economical and sustainable. Some farming that takes place are shrimp, tilapia and seaweed (future commercial export prospect). But, all these are still in the experimental stage. The only way aquaculture can expand is when the Pacific will be provided with better production methods for current species, new techniques and more new species. These new methods that can help expansion should be simple yet flexible for easy adapted to the environment and market constraints. They should have low operating costs and approach integrated fisheries bodies with favorably low investment cost. It also needs associations with commercial scale operations to demonstrate economic viability. One of the most influential, however, were the Aryans. In fact, some of the Aryan customs still remain in modern day India, such as cattle demanding great respect, which stems from the Aryan tradition of using such animals as currency (Chamberlain). The Aryans were mainly pastoral, relying on agriculture to survive (Bentley and Ziegler 94). The invention of the Diesel engine meant that goods were more accessible and money could be gained quicker. The Diesel engine has some very terrible long term effects. • 16. The Island And The Road Comparison The two dystopian texts, The Road is written by Cormac McCarthy and The Island directed by Michael Bay are great examples of a dystopian world. The Road is a post apocalyptic novel where a father and son have nothing but the dirty clothes on their backs, a pistol and a cart filled with scavenged items. Their destination, the coast, although they don t know if anything awaits them there. The Island is an advanced world where clones of real people are made in order to help their clients live longer. In the same manner The Island has important character development that causes the protagonists to change their behaviours. For instance, when Jordan Two Delta and Lincoln Six Echo escaped and went to Tom Lincoln s house. In this scene there was an altercation that resulted in the client Tom Lincoln dying, which was a great example of how the characters developed. After this scene the protagonist realized how careless and willing they were to hurt others in order to get the clones back to the facility. The scene allowed the protagonist Lincoln Six Echo to develop and take extra precautions to maintain safety. Six Echo would always be on his toes; look back every so often, and though through his plans. This leads into the theme that is related to brute force which is that people will do anything to survive. More people are using social media and organizations can use these websites to advertise and increase brand awareness to attract more customers (logofatu, 2014). Economic Globalization is the one of the biggest economical issue a manufacturing firm will encounter in the next couple years. Changing consumption patterns, low labor costs in less developed countries, and growing energy dependency all affect how successful an organization will be in the global market (akyelken keller, 2014). Consumers follow trends and with those trends, organizations are subject to success or failure depending on if they can change and adapt to those new trends. Being able to produce products consumers want is important for a manufacturing firm. Labor costs are generally cheaper in less developed countries, enticing firms to outsource production outside of the United States (akyelken keller, 2014). This makes it harder for manufacturing firms to gain new clients and keep employees satisfied. I entered through the double doors, and I signed in while school security officers wand down students. Then I located the main office, and I accepted my assignment papers titled: Chorus Concert I, (Period 6). The substitute teachers coordinator told me that I was assigned to two chorus classes. My instructions were to sit in the classroom and listen to them sing. I felt enthralled by the assignment. I thought, Fantastic! All day long, I looked forward to going to Period 6; the symphony class. I could not wait to be amused by the melodies of talented young chorus singers. The moment arrived, and I stepped into that rumbustious and loud classroom. Then I scanned the architectural design of the room. The classroom resembled a mid size basketball gym. The concrete blocked walls were painted white. The hard wood floors complimented two black pianos scattered in opposite locations in the vicinity. My evaluation of the room s facility was interrupted by a BLASTING surprise. For example, there were 40 energetic students amid one substitute teacher: me. A few, but not all, of the students hormones, ran faster than a New York City freight train. Since nobody struck up a tune, my next instinct was to get the class organized. I stopped trying to identify the songbirds, and I walked around the classroom telling students to complete their written activity. The worksheet related to a discussion of specific

However, in a most case scenario I think it is a wonderful idea that will help students in the long run, given they choose a smart career that is financially promising. If a student goes into the correct field and gets into a job that pays well then they will, most likely, have no problem paying back any student loans they may owe. Mark Kantrowitz estimated that about 71% of people graduating with a bachelor s degree would have a student loan. He said It s unfortunate that college costs are going up and the student aid, the grants, are not going up at the same rate on a per student basis. College is becoming less and less affordable, though it s still just as necessary. The problem there is that if student aide and grants aren t covering the full cost of a student s education, the student is more inclined to get another loan elsewhere. After you have a college degree you are more likely to make a higher wage than the person who doesn t, what is more, you will probably get hired faster. As a person grows, another form of ossification known as bone growth goes on until early adulthood as the body continues to increase in size. Bones are capable of growing in thickness throughout life. Intramembranous ossification takes place within the womb and is the process by which flat bones such as some of the bones of the skull and the collarbones are created from connective tissue. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This process is more complex than intramembranous ossification because the hyaline cartilage must be broken down as bone formation proceeds. There are four main stages of endochondral ossification. First, perichondrium that is covering the hyaline cartilage bone is infiltrated with blood vessels and becomes vascularized periosteum. As a result of this change in nutrition, the underlying mesenchymal cells differentiate into osteoblasts, and the stage for ossification is set to begin. Bone collar forms around the hyaline cartilage, and osteoblasts of the new periosteum secrete osteoid against the cartilage diaphysis, encasing into a new layer of bone called the periosteal bone collar. In the second step of endochondral ossification, the bone collar forms, and chondrocytes within the shaft enlarge. Nutrients can no longer diffuse once the matrix becomes sufficiently calcified and the chondrocytes subsequently die. This creates cavities within the bone. Elsewhere, the cartilage remains healthy and continues to grow briskly, causing the model to elongate. During the third stage which is in month 3, the forming cavities are invaded by a collection of elements called the periostial bud, which contains a nutrient artery and vein, lymphatic vessels, nerve fibers, red marrow elements, osteoblasts, and osteocytes. The founders James Farmer, George Houser, Bayard Rustin, and Bernice Fisher unquestionably had to want to make a difference on segregation. In June of 1964, three civil rights activists, Andrew (Andy) Goodman, James Chaney, and Michael (Mickey) Schwerner were murdered by members of the KKK (Klu Klux Klan) while working as volunteers for CORE s Freedom Summer registration project in Mississippi. Elephant populations suffered a drop in numbers that carried the species into the endangered animals list. At the beginning of the twentieth century, about ten million elephants lived in Africa. Presently, the ten million is reduced to half a million because of illegal hunting and habitat loss. Studies of the population show twenty two thousand were killed in 2012 and twenty five thousand in 2011. When comparing the death rate to the natural population growth, there is a possibility the largest mammal on Earth could be extinct soon (Vaughan 1). However, two of her statements particularly stood out to me. The first was when she had said Some knowledge is too heavy... you cannot bear it...your father will carry it until you are able. (ten Boom 175) This phrase is so meaningful because it was a lesson she had learned from her own father when she was young, but now she uses it in her own teaching and relates it to her heavenly father as well. The second quote that stood out to me was when she had said His will is our hiding place. Lord Jesus, keep me in Your will. (ten Boom 234) This statement refers to Corrie s realization of how everything had happened for a reason. This was her protection or hiding place through the horrors of the concentration camp and her personal losses. • 47. Sonnet Elizabeth Bishop Analysis Close Reading of Sonnet by Elizabeth Bishop Elizabeth Bishop s poem, Sonnet bears little resemblance to its namesake at first glance. Bishop plays with our expectations, molding the well known sonnet form into something new. She transforms the meter and rhyme scheme of the sonnet to the point of metamorphosis, but she retains the skeletal structure of the form; fourteen lines broken down into the customary octave and sestet. Her invocation and subsequent subversion of the anticipated poetic form provide her with a baseline to branch off from and without that context, the structure would not have the same effect on the poem s meaning. The structure of the first line sets the tone for the octave. Bishop begins in media ras with Caught (l. 1) but immediately undercuts that momentum with an em dash. This structure manifests the instability of the poem which is then picked up by words such as level (l. 2), wobbling and wavering (l. 5), bevel (l. 11), and wherever (l. 13). This is just the first example of structure reinforcing meaning in Sonnet Caught (l. 1) also introduces the central theme of freedom and confinement. We see the confinement motif play out in the octave with enclosed imagery such as the bubble (l. 1) or even the compass (l. 4). However, instead of explicitly introducing contrast into the first part of the poem, Bishop structures the sonnet as a progression, first focusing on confinement before moving to freedom.
