questions that require logical thinking. Piaget showed that children in the ways of

My Father s Conviction Is Cruel In The US
when that happened. When Steven became a junior at high school he decided that
school was not for him so he dropped out. He was already getting caught up with
what he was seeing at home from his father. Eventually his father got arrested
because the cops did a drug bust at Mitchell projects and found him with drugs and
a few guns on him. Steven was very upset when they informed him about his father
getting arrested. His father could be sentenced up to 30 years in prison if he s found
guilty. Steven felt with the responsibly of taking control over the legacy his father
left in the streets. Although with him making that decision Steven became a street

High School Vs. College
High School vs. College In the America, children begin school around the age of six.
Once a student enters elementary school, most stay there for five to six years before
they go on to secondary school, which involves middle school and high school. After
graduating high school some students go on to pursue a higher education through
college, but any further schooling after high schoolis no longer mandatory. In the
professional world it is becoming harder and harder for high school students to
find their footing and obtain high paying jobs without a college degree and it s
easy to see why that is. The differences between a high school and college
education are drastic, as American cities struggle to provide public high school s
with modern technology as well as improved educative practices continues the gap
between a basic and higher education is only going to increase. Upon observing the
differences between college and high school one can t help but notice the huge
differences between the two institutions. In high school there is a certain time
structure that has to be strictly followed. Students are required to be at school in
their first hour class, which is the same every day until the next semester/trimester,
at the same time every morning. After first hour they go on to their second hour
and so on and so forth until the day is over and they are free. Day after day and year
after year high schoolers wake up and follow the same routine as the day before and

Airedale Terrier Essay
AIREDALE TERRIER
Maxeen Hobson History
The Airedale Terrier (often shortened to Airedale ) was developed by the workingmen
from the Aire valley of Yorkshire in England. These men spent time hunting along the
river valleys of the area and wanted a dog that could run with the hunters, was
obedient to their masters, courageous and versatile and then return home at night as a
companion to their families.
The workmen of the day, not being well off, appreciated that the Airedale was not a
greedy eater and only needed a nutritious meal to support their growth and maintain
the dog s substance. It is generally accepted that the dogs produced by breeding,

in guard and schutzhund work, search and rescue amongst many other attributes.
Airedales also exhibit some herding characteristics having no problem working with
cattle and livestock. Strong willed, with the tenacity commonly seen in terriers, the
Airedale is a formidable opponent. With the above keen sences, the Airedale has
been known to excel in obedience, agility. However, the Airedale can often be
difficult to train. Being a highly intelligent and a quick learner, he is often stubborn
and unforgiving of harsh treatment. Because of the Airedale s hound ancestry, he has
extraordinary hunting abilities with the capability to scent game and it has been
used extensively in countries such as Canada, Africa and the USA. Because of its
size it is able to tackle larger animals such as mountain lions, boar and bear to
woodchuck on New England farms. It could be broken to gun and taught to retrieve
Bourdieu And Social Inequality
Social inequality
When the resources in a society are distributed unevenly it leads to social inequality.
Often inequality is understood as being socio economic and it is now closely
associated with social inequality. Social inequalities are differences in income,
resources, power and status within and between societies. Such inequalities are
maintained by those in powerful positions via institutions and social processes.
(Warwick Booth, 2013 p.2)
Social inequalities are subjective and relative to those around us. Individuals compare
themselves to those they see which in turn may alter their expectations of equality in
terms of such things as wealth, education and gender equality for themselves.
General needs and expectations differ depending on where in the world you are. In
most western countries we have come to expect certain levels of gender equality for
instance. This essay will look into social inequality, particularly in the form of gender
inequality.

The two types of capital are cultural capital and economic capital. This is then used
by showing the resulting inequalities and allocating various social slots for men and
women based on said differences. This in turn legitimizes the inheritance of social
privileges in societies where democracy is thought to be the right and virtuous way.
(Wacquant, 1996)
Cultural and economic capital among others are a large part of determining the
opportunities that and individual will have. Therefore social inequality in terms of
gender inequality etc. is an issue which needs to be addressed. Social inequality is
not only bad for the individual but also for society as a whole. In that sense men are
also victims of gender inequality in a relative way. (Bourdieu,

The And Exchange Commission s Mission Essay
The Securities and Exchange Commission s mission is to protect investors,
maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation. The
purpose of this paper is to examine three recent federal security laws to see if they
uphold all parts of the SEC s mission. The three laws to examine are Sarbanes Oxley
Act (2002); Emergency Economic Recovery Stabilization Act (2008); and Dodd
Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (2010). The Sarbanes Oxley
Act (2002) passed after the Enronfiasco of the early 21st century. Enron was able to
trick investors by using Special Purpose Entities which was allowed through GAAP
standards, but nonetheless failed to reveal the potential risks to the investors looking
at its financial records. Enron s executives had in fact fraudulently reported profits,
but not debts, inflating its stock value and enabling it to obtain some capitalfrom
ignorant financial institutions and other investors. (Kaal, 2016) Therefore, the
passing of the SOX Act provided two main points, the Public Company Accounting
Oversight Boardand Title IV. PCAOB holds public accounting firms accountable.
PCAOB works in conduction with other CPA organizations, but it holds the ultimate
authority over CPA organizations. Title IV requires the full disclosure for any Special
Purpose Entities and the impact that they might have. Also pro forma calculations,
figures based on future events that might occur, and personal loans to

Disenfranchisement Of The LGBT Community
The disenfranchisement of the LGBT community is an issue that has plagued society
for a long time. They have been regarded as aberrant, defective, and subhuman. They
have been denied basic rights and rejected by society. They have been arrested,
abused, and even killed for being who they are. Even in the present, although times
and circumstances have improved, bigotry is still prevalent in the populace. As
someone who is transgenderand bisexual, these issues are important to me. I may be
living in a fairly accepting environment, but I am still not insusceptible to
microaggressions, even from those who mean well. If my circumstances could be
considered to be on the fortunate side, I can only imagine what the less fortunate
members of my community must be dealing with. In order to take a step toward
eliminating those struggles, I seek to educate people about these problems and
encourage them to fight against them. In the past, members of the LGBTcommunity
were viewed as anomalies. According to the National Center for Biotechnology
Information, people tried to come up with various theories about homosexuality. For
example, Richard von Krafft Ebing, a German psychiatrist, believed homosexuality to
be an inborn disorder. Sigmund Freud, an Austrian neurologist, believed that all
people are predisposed to attraction to any gender; he thought of homosexuality as
phase in the process of developing heterosexuality. Sandor Rado, a Hungarian
psychoanalyst, believed bisexuality and

Feminist Equality And Equality
No matter what the race, gender, or sexuality is of a human being, they deserve to
be treated equally. In this position, equality and equity shouldn t be based upon
your gender or sexuality. Feminism can be explained by a diverse variety of
beliefs, ideas, movements, and events for action. Feminism can also be explained by
a versatile approach to the issues of equality and equity based on gender, sex, and
sexuality through social and political activism of women.
Unfortunately, Feminism proves that women are currently not being held equal to
men. Feminism is composed of economic, social, political, and cultural issues for
powers and rights. Women don t have the same power and rights compared to men.
Any action that may be organized or non organized that promotes changes to society
that is a disadvantage against women is Feminism. The advantages men have over
women is biased and sexist. A man and woman should have the same advantages,
powers, and rights in this society.
Feminism approaches a different culture and values that affects the culture and
activism individually and groups to make personal and social change towards the
more desirable culture. Feminism now focuses on inequalities and inequities that
are cooperated with the ability, class, gender, race, sex, and sexuality, that feminists
are trying to change power inequity can t be created. Feminist political activities
have been coming together to campaign in areas such as reproductive rights,
domestic violence, fairness, social justice, and work place issues. Different cultures
are biased and only allow women to wear certain clothes, perform certain tasks,
authority to speak, etc. Women are deceived as powerless and easy to some men and
other sexist people.
The word Feminism was first referred to women s freedom or emancipation. The
word first appeared in French as feminisme in the 1870 s. Hubertine Auclert used
the term feminist about herself and others working for women s freedom. In 1890,
the word Feminist was being used in Europe and in 1894 it came into America.
After the First International Women s Conference in Paris in 1892 was used daily
in English for a belief in equal rights for women based on the idea of the equality of
the sexes.
Freedom Of Speech, The Most Precious Amendment In
The...
Freedom of speech, the most precious amendment in the United States Constitution.
Why? Because without our freedom to share our opinions, write our thoughts, tell
our stories, challenge other thoughts, processes, and even our government, we would
be chained by the slavery of control and censorship. Yes, maybe a bit dramatic but as
a female mixed race student athlete I think my life would be very different without
my first amendment right of Freedom of Speech. My ancestors were slaves to other
human beings. Without a voice, without the right to say yes, or no, or maybe. No
voice, no opinion, no significance. WRONG!
Should the government monitor the internet? Wow, I think that is a really hard
question that our government has been challenged with since the digital age
exploded into our lives and everything we do. ... Show more content on

This is now a regular part of our lives. Actually as a 17 year old, I don’t
know anything different. The internet is a way to explore and connect. If we have the
government monitoring our use, how is that different than from tapping into our
phone and listening to our conversations or telling us we can’t protest like
the recent demonstrations we have seen from first generation American Hispanics
requesting rights to becoming citizens of our country?
I am a 100% supporter of freedom of speech but I also know my personal and
national security can be at risk if we don’t at least know about plots being
planned or people trying to harm others. That’s the dilemma! If you have
100% freedom of speech you cannot protect 100% of the child being bullied by
others, prevent a teen suicide, or avoid the next 9/11 event that can take thousands of
lives. I wonder if the recent shooting from Las Vegas could have been prevented if
the shooter’s gun buying activities had been regularly been monitored on the
Glass Of The Art Industry
udio glass in my eyes is a big part of the art industry as it has changed the view of a
material that has been used for over 4000 years. Harvey Littleton was the founder of
this movement and he also contributed too many artists who have worked with the
studio glass movement throughout the years especially at the start. He taught hot glass
in a garage on the grounds of the Toledo Museum of Art. At an American Crafts
Council conference in 1959 they challenged Littleton to prove that hot glass was a
medium that could be worked on by individual artists in their own studios. There
were many people throughout the arts community that thought Littleton s work had
little more than novelty value.
One of Littleton s early students in 1964 was Marvin ... Show more content on

The first time he ever worked with a partner was in this program, Fritz Dreisbach,
and doing this came the collaborative model that he has used throughout his career.
His first piece that he made at the university made him aware that glass doesn t
need to just be an industrial product that is mass produced it can be personal to the
maker and an expression by them too. Near enough all of his work has been very
abstract and brightly coloured since he started making work. Most of his early works
are quite simple but they are purposely an art form.
Chihuly is an artist who was and still is always making things more difficult and
always stretches studio glass and the glass itself to its limits. He and his team try
to push glass as an art into larger and larger spaces. He likes to take the 2000 years
of glass making history and transform it into magnificent works. After losing the
sight in one of his eyes and also hurting his shoulder which stopped him being able to
blow glass himself, it has made him look at his work in a different way as he can no
longer see the work as most others do so he has to explain to his workers what he
would like them to do, which I think would be a hard thing to do as he works with
lots of different people and his work is quite big and extravagant.
Littleton himself was open to science and industry from a young age dew to his
father being the head of research at Corning Glass Works.

Literary Analysis Of A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner
1
Literary Analysis on A Rose For Emily by William Faulkner William Faulkner has
done a wonderful work in his essay A Rose for Emily. Faulkner uses symbols,
settings, character development, and other literary devices to express the life of
Emily and the behavior of the people of Jefferson town towards her. By reading the
essay, the audience cannot really figure out who the narrator is. It seems like the
narrator can be the town s collective voice. The fact that the narrator uses collective
pronoun we supports the theory that the narrator is describing the life of Miss
Emily on behalf of the townspeople. Faulkner has used the flashback device in his
essay to make it more interesting. The story begins with the portrayal of Emily s
funeral and it moves to her past and at the end the readers realize that the funeral is a
flashback as well. The story starts with the death of Miss Emily when he was seventy
four years old and it takes us back when she is a young and attractive girl. Faulkner
has characterized all the characters in the best possible way. Emily Grierson, Homer
Barron, Judge Stevens the mayor of Jefferson, Mr. Grierson Emily s father, Tobe
Emily s servant, and Colonel Sartoris a former mayor of Jefferson are the major
charters in the story. The narrator describes Emily as a monument, but with a lot of
negativity. The story shows us how she was a smart young girl and then how she
end up being an overprotective and secretive old woman. She refused to accept the
change when her father died and that s why she kept telling all the people in town
that her father is still alive. Homer Barron is much like Emily. Like Emily, Homer
is an outsider and becomes the topic of gossip. The narrator describes Homer as a
big man with dark complexion with a good sense of humor. Tobe s character in the
story plays an important role. He is a loyal and dutiful servant. He cared for Emily
till she died, but he walked out of the back door and never returned after Emily s
death. Mr. Grierson was a well maintained person. When he was alive, Emily s
house was always beautifully maintained. He earned a lot of respect in the society
but when he died the respect towards his family died with him. Faulkner uses

Theme Of Mid Term Break By Seamus Heaney
Throughout Seamus Heaney s many works, different tones were created because of
the sound devices he chose to use. Some of his works that include, the use of special
sound devices are Blackberry Picking, Mid Term Break, and Death of Naturalist. In
these different poems, Heaney makes use of different sounds in order to create the
mood or tone, he that he wanted to display through his writing.
In Heaney s poem Blackberry Picking, there are two sounds that were repeated
throughout the poem; those two sounds were of the letter B and the letter F. When
Heaney repeatedly used the letter B in Blackberry Picking the narrator seemed to
be excited, he was telling a story of picking berries, possibly to a friend and he was
speaking animatedly about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Death of a Naturalist, Heaney uses the clashing sound of consonants to create an
unpleasant and uncomfortable tone for the reader. Some examples of the
cacophony that was created are warm thick slobber/ of the frogspawn that grew
like clotted water (8 9) and Some sat/ poised like mud grenades, their blunt heads
farting (28 29). These sentence when read out loud do not please the ear at all, and
unpleasant sounds can translate to an unpleasant mood pretty easily just as
pleasant sounds can easily translate to a happy or joyful mood. The sound of the
words used and the description of the frogs in the poem can make the reader
uncomfortable and it can make them feel like they are also there in the lavishing
frogspawn. The poem as a whole sort of makes the reader feel like they are
physically dirty from being in the place with the narrator. Also in Death of a
Naturalist the narrator is a child, and the poem describes the transition of a specific
child who loses their love of nature because one day nature rebelled against him/her.
So the fact that Heaney used the ineloquent sound that cacophony can create, it
helped reinforce the childlike feeling of the narrator. Again in Death of a Naturalist
Heaney used a sound device to help create a tone that he wanted readers to catch
Rites Of Passage And Ritual
Attending a kind of subcultural initiation ritual, known as a gig, in this case
comprised of local Wellington musicians is reminiscent of Turner s discussion of
rituals and Rites of passage. This particular ritual form certainly encourages
belonging, uniformity that appears to be a universal attribute of group rituals. It is
important to distinguish between ceremonyand ritualhere, the gig can be considered a
ritual as it could promote transformation in an individual and is not a conformational
event. The following essay discusses this ritual in two parts, firstly examining Turner
s discussion of Rites of Passage and ritual particularly Separation, liminalityand
Aggregation themes. Secondly the essay will suggest what this particular ritual does
for identity and community and suggest that rituals, more broadly, remain essential to
contemporary life. Overall, this essay will argue that Turner s discussion is useful in
illuminating aspects of this ritual, however it does not accurately explain all of it.
Prior to arriving at the venue, it is necessary to prepare for the evening, this reflects

The Secret Life Of Bees
American literature is an important part of literature for the modern student. This
type of literature is relatable to students throughout the United States, and gives
advice through different time periods in American history. The novel The Secret
Life of Bees focuses on a young girl by the name of Lily Owens whose life revolves
around that fact that she accidently shot her mother when she was only four years
old. Lily s stand in mother Rosaleen is her only real friend, and when she insults a
group of racists when she goes to register to vote, Lily rescues her and the two flee
to Tiburon, South Carolina where Lily believes she can find a trace of her mother.
They end up being taken in by three sisters named May, June, and August who...

Kidd wrote a short story called The Secret Life of Bees and it was awarded the
Katherine Anne Porter Prize for Fiction and was in a piece in the 1994 edition of Best
American Short Stories ( Sue Monk Kidd ). This short story s success led to Kidd s
first novel, The Secret Life of Bees. This novel won became a bestseller and won
the SEBA Book of the Year Award and the Southeastern Library Association Fiction
Award ( The Secret Life of Bees ). The novel was also nominated for an International
IMPAC Dublin Literary Award as well as the Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction.
There are many themes present throughout The Secret Life of Bees including the
power of women, the strength of motherly bonds, the role of bees, and the portrayal
of prejudice in society. The power of bonds between women is shown throughout
different aspects of the novel. Rosaleen was abused by racist men, but she keep
going with even more strength than she had before. When Lily and Rosaleen
showed up on the Boatwright sisters doorstep, the sisters took the two women they
had never met in and treated them like family. This strength occurred throughout the
novel. When Lily s father ended up letting her stay with the Boatwright sisters it
was partly because of the women in her lie. The women stood up to T. Ray and gave
him a way out while also keeping Lily s best interests at heart.
MГ©tis Resistance
In the mid 1850s, MГ©tis petitioned the Imperial Government in London through
Red River born lawyer Alexander Kennedy Isbister to limit the Council of Assiniboia
s power. On the ground, the Council rarely commanded enough of a constabulary to
compel MГ©tis to follow its laws, so the Council was often forced to compromise
with the community to ensure the enforcement of its laws. Other events
overshadowed MГ©tis Company disputes in the 1860s: the intensifying eastern
interest in developing the West and Confederation in 1867. In 1869 the Dominion of
Canadaand the Hudson Bay Company reached an agreement for the transfer of
Rupert s Land to the Canadian government. Among MГ©tis, however, questions
arose on how the Company had gained ownership of the Northwest, when a multitude

The consequent efforts of government surveyors to map Red River without regard for
local residents holdings resulted in the establishment of the MГ©tis National
Committee, and a provisional government in late 1869. These events established
Louis Riel as the leader of the MГ©tis resistance. After consolidating their alliance
with the Half breed population and the old British settler population, the three
constituencies formed the Provisional Government of Assiniboia s Legislative
Assembly in March 1870, and sent a delegation to Ottawa to negotiate Red River s
entrance into Confederation. The outcome was the Manitoba Act, which established
Manitoba as a new province in Confederation as well as several other commitments
to protect MГ©tis landholdings including a 1.1.4 million acre and reserve, language
and local political control over the new province. However, the agreement recorded
by the Provisional Government s chief negotiator varies in important ways from the
Manitoba Act, and MГ©tis leaders have argued since the 19th century that the

John Steinbeck Myths
The Pearl by John Steinbeck, takes place in the small village of La Paz, where
finding a hefty size pearl could mean better days for life. Living on the Baja
Peninsula tends to derive many pearl divers due to the stretched coastline, leading
Kino, the main character, like his ancestors before him, to become one. The novella
leads Kino and his dreams to a magnificent pearl and once with it, the pearlcarves a
path of greed, death, and destructions in Kino s life. While the pearl initially
represents great wealth for Kino and his family, it eventually becomes a symbol of
greed, death, and destruction. The pearl is symbolized as the holy grail of La Paz
and many of the divers believe that the pearl itself is a myth. But in the song... Show

The town absorbed the news of the Pearl and corrupted it, stirring up evil and
venom. The pearl takes on many different forms throughout the novella, shape
shifting its way into people s minds. This thing is evil, she cried harshly. This pearl
is like a sin! It will destroy us, and her voice rose shrilly. Throw it away, Kino. Let
us break it between stones. Let us bury it and forget the place. Let us throw it back
into the sea. It has brought evil. Kino, my husband, it will destroy us. And in the
firelight her lips and her eyes were alive with her fear (43 44). This shows that the
pearl has turned Kino s head, he wants more, and he needs more. Wanting more and
needing more comes to a price and Kino is about to pay for it. The pearl has
become my soul, said Kino. If I give it up I shall lose my soul... (73). The pearl is
not an entity or a spirit, it does not tell Kino what he should do. Kino has infatuated
himself with the thought of a better life and he has lost control of his own. And then
Kino s brain cleared from its red concentration and he knew the sound the keening,

Diminish And Ascend David Mccracken
My favorite three dimensional sculpture is Diminish and Ascend by the artist
David McCracken. This beautiful and amazing sculpture looks like a stairway to
heaven, reaching over the edge of a cliff and reducing in size as it rises to what
seems like infinity. When in reality it is a staircase that you couldn t climb, literally
or figuratively. Even so, the staircase is an eye catching piece that will make it
viewers stop to look, while also making imaginations start and minds wonder.
Diminish and Ascend is an In the round sculpture, this meaning that it lets its
viewers view it from many different angles. Although from all angles it appears to
be a long climb to the top that goes beyond the Earth s atmosphere, it is nothing
more than an optical illusion. It s really only 30 feet long and 15 feet high and sits
on a hill at Bondi Beach in Australia. Just like when the chapter refers to light and
kinetic sculptures to change an art pieces appearance, McCracken uses his illusion
to change the way his views perceive his work. While he did not use kinetics for his
illusion, he took into consideration the visual effects related to the effect on distance.
McCracken created a replica of a staircase made out of aluminum that decreases in
size as it nears its highest and furthest point from eye level. This giving the ... Show

I love art in the form of sculptures because as a viewer it is able to open my mind in
a whole new way. It was hard for me to pick just one of my favorite sculptures to
discuss because there were so many I found that stood out, and I just loved! For me, I
think the great thing about three dimensional art is that it gets my mind thinking
about every aspect of that piece of artwork. When I view something like Diminish and
Ascend, it opens my mind to see the different meanings behind the sculpture, question
the hows of how it was created, and imagine everything in

The Bureaucratic System Of Public Administration
Introduction How Kristin Died is a prime example of one of the many issues inherent
within the bureaucratic system and the misfortunes that can stem from it. This case
forever changed the lives of those involved and unfortunately resulted in the death of
Kristin Lardner, a 21 year old college student, at the hands of Michael Cartier, her
estranged boyfriend. It is important to public administration because public
administration contains many issues of hierarchy and redundancy. Public
administration also has the power to mold the environments where it is present in
many ways. This case is strongly related to organizational theory, the relationship
organizations have with the environment and how individuals behave within. When
presented, the information within the case surrounding the details of Kristin s death
proves that had the bureaucracies involved taken the necessary preventative
measures, this tragedy may not have occurred. The main individuals of this case
include: Kristin Lardner, Michael Cartier, Tom Case and Rose Ryan. Although others
were involved, these individuals had the most influence within the case. Although
Lardner was originally from Washington, DC, this event takes place in Boston,
Massachusetts, where she attends college in the early 1990 s. History Cartier
showed signs of trouble very early on. As a child it is stated that he would light
matches behind a gas stove, and even mutilated his pet rabbit. Due to these acts,

History Of Sunflower In North America
The sunflower or the Helianthus Annuus commercialized in Russia but originated in
North America and there is 67 species. Throughout the centuries you can find the
flowers seed colors to be various such as black, red, white, and black and white
stripes; the ones who were responsible to cultivate or domesticate the plantseeds were
the American Indians.
Throughout North America, the sunflower was a common crop to the Indian tribes.
Research has suggested that the plant has cultivated in Arizona and New Mexico
around 3000 BC (before corn) by the American Indians. The seeds of the sunflower
would be grounded into flour for bread, mush or cake; however, some tribes would
mix beans, squash, and corn to the meal. One of the methods that is still very
common today was to crack the seed and eat it as a snack. The plant itself was used
for other purposes such as bodypainting for ceremonies. It could also helped with
medical issues. The flower of the plant was made into tea used for lung ailments
and malaria. The leaves could also be turned into tea and would be used to reduce
high fevers. Leaf poultice may be used to cure certain snakebites and insect bites.

In the 18th century the sunflower became very popular thanks to Peter the Great.
Thanks to the Russian Orthodox Church increased the sunflowers popularity by
forbidding most oil foods from being consumed during Lent. Russian farmers, by

England around 1716 the sunflower oil was first marketed. They would extract the

Canon Shape Structure in Jewish and Christian Bibles
Judaism and Christianity are derived from different times and places in the world.
They share a lengthy past and many of the same books. However, these communities
are divergent in their beliefs. The fundamental differences lie within the literary
composition of each theology s sacred texts. The shape and structure of the Jewish
and Christian canons are arranged to substantiate each community s religious beliefs.
Jews and Christians arranged their canons differently to obtain a specific outcome in
relation to their fundamental beliefs. First off, the Jews arranged their books in the
Hebrew Bible to reflect their covenantal relationship with God. The 24 books are
organized by genre of scripture and tell the history of God s relationship ... Show

These passages from the Book of Malachi emphasize the people s disobedience
towards God and desperate need for redemption, or as the Christian community
would interpret it, a savior. For Jews, this is a call to action and to return to God
from devious ways. The Book of Malachi s place in the middle of the Hebrew Bible
reflects its significance as a moral lesson and warning. In the Christian Bible, having
this book placed last and the Gospels following it, there is a fulfillment of the
prophecies. For Christian communities, continuity is established through the
prophecies of Jesus Christ.
In almost every case, the location of a biblical book relative to other canonical
books, whether in terms of the grouping in which it is placed, or the book(s) that
follow or precede it, has hermeneutical significance for the reader who seeks meaning
in the text (Goswell, 688). For Christians and Jews, their understanding of scriptures
purpose is derived from religious texts. The textual arrangement portrays and supports
an entirely different meaning to each community. For the Jewish community, the
canons reveal their belief in God and their role with the divine entity. The books of
the Hebrew Bible take particular significance with the Jewish community in
Sea Cows Extinction
Both the reading and lecture talk about the extinction of sea cows. The reading
claims that there are three reasons about the extinction of sea cows. Howevere the
lecture argues that no evidence proves those reasons that are correct. Thus, the
lecture holds an opposite view of the reading. Firstly, the professor mentions that
sea cows have not been overhunted by people. In other words, sea cows were pretty
massive and enomous. But native Sebirian people were not very much. So people
could not hunt sea cows and they didn t hunt. So it s unlikely that native peole have
been overhunt sea cows. The point is the opposit of the belief in the reading that
people caused sea cows deline since they have been overhunt. Therefor, the professor

The Importance Of Socialization
Socialization is the lifelong process in which people learn the attitudes, values, and
behaviors appropriate for members of a particular culture. We often go into a
place and we can tend to judge people. By the language or color or what they wear.

He explains how these results from our imagination isn t alway correct. Usually
they are incorrect. A real life example of this is when a teacher criticizes a student
on their paper, the teacher must think i m stupid, I am stupid. This was just like
what happened to me at work yesterday. One of my babies that I take care of was
going home because her father came to pick her up. I told him she was in the
playroom and he went down there and I had to call him back because I forgot she
was sleeping. He came back and I felt like such an idiot and I was thinking to myself
he must think I am an idiot for this one. Like how could I forget about his child
sleeping? I apologised for the mistake and I still felt like he hated me for it even
though he said it was fine and her parents are really nice anyways.
George Herbert Mend continued Charles Cooley s study. He developed a useful
model of the process by which the self emerges. They are the preparatory stage, the
play stage, and the game stage.
He explains that the preparatory stage is when children imitate people around them

As they grow older children will become more adept at using symbols like gestures
and words that form the basis of communication. By interacting with relatives and
friends and watching cartoons on television and also looking at picture books,

soundtrack in uncommon ways compared to how other films of this genre make
this film stand out and provide a more visceral and realistic sense of how racism
affects many Americans in modern times. Kaye s use of close ups provide the raw
and gut wrenching emotions in every scene, be it the stomach turning sense of teeth
touching the curb or to highlight the emotion on a character s face. His use of
soundtrack further enhances every scene seamlessly building tension and then
bringing it all crashing down in a high pitched threnody. Through studying this film
it is clear to see that Tony Kaye s masterful use of camerawork and soundtrack in
these two scenes successfully pushes the message of the film home, which is that
even though we may not be able to see it, racist traits are still passed down through
families in today s world. Although the entire film helps to further push that point it
is these two scenes that show to the viewer that even a simple racist statement from
a parent or sibling can be enough to affect a child for the rest of their life and to
further spread racism and intolerance into the

In this case, a movie industry analyst is asked to evaluate a proposed venture in
which a group of partners would purchase the sequel rights to movies produced by
the major studios. Your objective is to 1) discuss and evaluate the basic concept; 2)
determine the value of the sequel rights on a per movie basis; 3) evaluate the
possible upside and potential drawbacks to the proposed plan. As you will see, the
ideas here incorporate elements of capital budgeting coupled with a real options
analysis.
Please provide answers to the following questions. You... Show more content on

Beyond this broad understanding, you shouldn t worry any more about how the
specific numbers were estimated but you should understand how to interpret them.
For example for The Burbs, the numbers in Exhibit 7 suggest that the value of the
sequel at t=3 (using the suggested 12% discount rate) is :
NPV (at t=3) = $27.3/1.12 $24 = $0.375 million.
It follows that the NPV at t=0 can be found by discounting the above number three
years at 12% doing so you get a value of $0.2669 million which is an estimate of
what you pay for the sequel right at t=0.
Looking at this in terms of an internal rate of return the one year return can be
calculated as ($27.3/24) 1=.1375 or 13.75% (this number has been rounded up to .14
or 14% in Exhibit 7). Note that whenever this IRR is above 12%, the sequel will be
positive NPV.
5. Assume that a maximum of ten sequels can be made in any given year (choose
the sequels that are most likely to be made for example if the main character in the
film dies then a sequel is unlikely to be made) Using the same decision tree
approach, what would you estimate to be the per movie value of the sequel rights to
the entire portfolio of 99 movies released in 1989 by the six major studios?
6. Using the Black Scholes approach, calculate the per movie value of the sequel
rights to the entire
Police Brutality In Chile Essay
Chile is a beautiful country in the continent of South America. They have a beautiful
coastline and a good population there. But underneath all of the beauty is the fact of
police brutality. The police are using excessive force, corruption, and racism against
certain groups of people. When is it time to put an end to police brutality all
together? It is time for the people of Chileto make a stand. Police brutality is leaving
thousands hurt and even causes some deaths. It is really getting out of hand. Chile is
located in the southernmost part of South America. It is found near Bolivia, Peru, and
Argentina. Chile has a beautiful coastline to its west. Chile is the longest country in
the world (north to south.) Chile s capital is called Santiago.... Show more content on

But how can you? Police are continuously causing problems throughout the
communities. Police brutality has not just occurred during these protests, it
happens all around the world. It makes it hard for the people of the community to
trust the police officers if all they are doing is causing problems. Many people are not
happy and just want to move forward from the incident but the police just keep
doing it over and over so these problems will not just go away. All people of Chile
need to work together as a whole to fix the

James Garner, a washed up hollywood celebrity, was paid by the meat board to tout
beef as, Real food for real people. In April of 1988, James Garner underwent a
quintuple coronary artery bypass surgery (Realities 1989). This is just one of the
shocking side effects of consumption of meat. The practice of vegetarianism involves
eating vegetable products and not consuming meat, fish, and in many instances, egg
and dairy products. ( Vegetarianism ). Thus, a vegetarian dietcan benefit individuals

Doctor T. Colin Campbell, a Cornell University nutritional biochemist says, we re
basically a vegetarian species and should be eating a wide variety of plant foods and
minimizing our intake of animal foods. He further stated, in the next ten years, one of
the things you re bound to hear is that animal protein...is one of the most toxic

Santa Claus Argumentative Essay
The Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Boogeyman, and Santa Claus, what do all of
these have in common? For me, it is the innocence of a child. Children seem to be
more gullible and believe anything you tell them; they do not know the difference
between a lie and the truth. During the Christmas of 2003, I was five years old and
still believed in Santa Claus. The fact of believing in Santa Claus expresses the
innocence of a child and brings the magic to Christmas. Looking back on this picture
I do not remember what I had received in the white knitted stocking my great
grandma had knitted me two years before, but I do remember the excitement of
waking up that morning to find the presents that Mr. Santa Claus had brought me, not

In Christmas of 2004, the atmosphere was different. There are no pictures of little
girls in red Christmas dresses digging through their stockings. I remember waking
up with my cat storm and opening my presents, but this time not from Santa Claus,
or my parents, but from my grandparents. During the end of 2003, my parents were
going through a divorce due to actions of my biological mother. My grandparents
were given custody of my sister and myself. In the year of 2004, I was hospitalized
for my asthma 3 times. Imagine laying in bed weak, so weak you cannot pick up a

The Effects Of Educational Technology On The Classroom
Research Paper: Effects of Educational Technology In the Classroom
By: Nicole Ault
Computer Science 313
October 1st, 2017
Abstract: This research paper includes several studies on the effects of children s
learning when incorporating technology into their lives. Overall, the studies
mentioned can make technology be viewed as an aid or a hinder on a child s cognitive
development.
For some people the advances of technology in today s world can be viewed as a
negative or a positive in a persons life. But what about the technological advances
and the effects they have on a child s life? For this paper, research was done that
examines both sides of technology and the positive or negative consequences ... Show

There is also some up sides to technology for children, for example according to
Psychology Today research shows that, video games and other screen media
improve visual spatial capabilities, increase attentional ability, reaction times, and
the capacity to identify details among clutter. There are plenty of video games that
incorporate learning into them and can be beneficial for a child because they can
make math, spelling, history, or whatever other subjects the child may be having
difficulty with, fun. There are so many different kinds of games that are geared,
especially towards children s learning that it almost seems more beneficial for a
child to play a learning game than to sit in front of the television. The problem
with this lies in the notion that most children are not playing educational games or
watching educational television. Instead, they are drawn to social media
platforms or random websites with little to no educational benefits. Some of the
downsides of technology are that children are not getting as much exercise and
fresh air as they were ten or more years ago. According to the BBC, Children aged
five to sixteen spend an average of six and a half hours a day in front of a screen
compared with around three hours in 1995, according to market research firm
Childwise. Children have so many ways to access technology now with
United States Foreign Policy
The United States foreign or defense policy rests on the US relations with other
actors outside the US. This is unlike the other areas of government policy that greatly
deal with internal issues. As described by Patterson (2013) the cornerstone of foreign
policy is the national interest (p. 435). The policy that defines the way in which the
US interacts with foreign nations. It defines what is best for the nations with respect
to protecting its ways and its physical security. It even sets standards of interaction
and dealings for its nationals, both citizens and organizations with foreign nations.
One of the identified foreign policies pursued by the United State government is the

Essay On Hurricane Ivan
Hurricane Ivan was a major mile marker and an extremely devastating period of
time for most people located within the Caribbean as well as the lower areas of the
United States. Within hours of forming, Ivan was showing signs of having the ability
to grow larger and have the most impact than any other hurricane within the past two
years. When everything was said and done, Ivan was classified as, The cyclone was
the ninth named storm, the sixth hurricane and the fourth major hurricane of the
active 2004 Atlantic hurricane season (Wikipedia Contributors). After assessing the
size, velocity, and damage of the tropical storm, Ivan was seen as a category five
hurricane as well as making it into the tenth spot of the all time worst hurricanes
within the Atlantic Ocean. Not only that, but it was named the costliest hurricane that
has ever blown through the Atlantic. On August 31, 2004 hurricane Ivanbegan its

New Orleans was a major area of encouraged evacuation due to its below sea level

ground would be the best option if they were not able to evacuate the city. If
people can t get out of New Orleans, the mayor said, they should do a vertical

He was already getting caught up with what he was seeing at home from his father. Eventually his father got arrested because the cops did a drug bust at Mitchell projects and found him with drugs and a few guns on him. Steven was very upset when they informed him about his father getting arrested. His father could be sentenced up to 30 years in prison if he s found guilty. • 5. High School Vs. College High School vs. College In the America, children begin school around the age of six. Once a student enters elementary school, most stay there for five to six years before they go on to secondary school, which involves middle school and high school. After graduating high school some students go on to pursue a higher education through college, but any further schooling after high schoolis no longer mandatory. In the professional world it is becoming harder and harder for high school students to find their footing and obtain high paying jobs without a college degree and it s easy to see why that is. The differences between a high school and college education are drastic, as American cities struggle to provide public high school s with modern technology as well as improved educative practices continues the gap between a basic and higher education is only going to increase. Upon observing the differences between college and high school one can t help but notice the huge differences between the two institutions. In high school there is a certain time structure that has to be strictly followed. Students are required to be at school in their first hour class, which is the same every day until the next semester/trimester, at the same time every morning. After first hour they go on to their second hour and so on and so forth until the day is over and they are free. Day after day and year after year high schoolers wake up and follow the same routine as the day before and are

  • 7. Bourdieu And Social Inequality Social inequality When the resources in a society are distributed unevenly it leads to social inequality. Often inequality is understood as being socio economic and it is now closely associated with social inequality. Social inequalities are differences in income, resources, power and status within and between societies. Such inequalities are maintained by those in powerful positions via institutions and social processes. (Warwick Booth, 2013 p.2) Social inequalities are subjective and relative to those around us. Individuals compare themselves to those they see which in turn may alter their expectations of equality in terms of such things as wealth, education and gender equality for themselves. General needs and expectations differ depending on where in the world you are. In most western countries we have come to expect certain levels of gender equality for instance. This essay will look into social inequality, particularly in the form of gender inequality. Bourdieu and gender social inequality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two types of capital are cultural capital and economic capital. This is then used by showing the resulting inequalities and allocating various social slots for men and women based on said differences. This in turn legitimizes the inheritance of social privileges in societies where democracy is thought to be the right and virtuous way. (Wacquant, 1996) Cultural and economic capital among others are a large part of determining the opportunities that and individual will have. Therefore social inequality in terms of gender inequality etc. is an issue which needs to be addressed. Social inequality is not only bad for the individual but also for society as a whole. In that sense men are also victims of gender inequality in a relative way. (Bourdieu,

  • 9. The And Exchange Commission s Mission Essay The Securities and Exchange Commission s mission is to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation. The purpose of this paper is to examine three recent federal security laws to see if they uphold all parts of the SEC s mission. The three laws to examine are Sarbanes Oxley Act (2002); Emergency Economic Recovery Stabilization Act (2008); and Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (2010). The Sarbanes Oxley Act (2002) passed after the Enronfiasco of the early 21st century. Enron was able to trick investors by using Special Purpose Entities which was allowed through GAAP standards, but nonetheless failed to reveal the potential risks to the investors looking at its financial records. Enron s executives had in fact fraudulently reported profits, but not debts, inflating its stock value and enabling it to obtain some capitalfrom ignorant financial institutions and other investors. (Kaal, 2016) Therefore, the passing of the SOX Act provided two main points, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Boardand Title IV. PCAOB holds public accounting firms accountable. PCAOB works in conduction with other CPA organizations, but it holds the ultimate authority over CPA organizations. Title IV requires the full disclosure for any Special Purpose Entities and the impact that they might have. Also pro forma calculations, figures based on future events that might occur, and personal loans to

  • 11. Disenfranchisement Of The LGBT Community The disenfranchisement of the LGBT community is an issue that has plagued society for a long time. They have been regarded as aberrant, defective, and subhuman. They have been denied basic rights and rejected by society. They have been arrested, abused, and even killed for being who they are. Even in the present, although times and circumstances have improved, bigotry is still prevalent in the populace. As someone who is transgenderand bisexual, these issues are important to me. I may be living in a fairly accepting environment, but I am still not insusceptible to microaggressions, even from those who mean well. If my circumstances could be considered to be on the fortunate side, I can only imagine what the less fortunate members of my community must be dealing with. In order to take a step toward eliminating those struggles, I seek to educate people about these problems and encourage them to fight against them. In the past, members of the LGBTcommunity were viewed as anomalies. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, people tried to come up with various theories about homosexuality. For example, Richard von Krafft Ebing, a German psychiatrist, believed homosexuality to be an inborn disorder. Sigmund Freud, an Austrian neurologist, believed that all people are predisposed to attraction to any gender; he thought of homosexuality as phase in the process of developing heterosexuality. Sandor Rado, a Hungarian psychoanalyst, believed bisexuality and

  • 13. Feminist Equality And Equality No matter what the race, gender, or sexuality is of a human being, they deserve to be treated equally. In this position, equality and equity shouldn t be based upon your gender or sexuality. Feminism can be explained by a diverse variety of beliefs, ideas, movements, and events for action. Feminism can also be explained by a versatile approach to the issues of equality and equity based on gender, sex, and sexuality through social and political activism of women. Unfortunately, Feminism proves that women are currently not being held equal to men. Feminism is composed of economic, social, political, and cultural issues for powers and rights. Women don t have the same power and rights compared to men. Any action that may be organized or non organized that promotes changes to society that is a disadvantage against women is Feminism. The advantages men have over women is biased and sexist. A man and woman should have the same advantages, powers, and rights in this society. Feminism approaches a different culture and values that affects the culture and activism individually and groups to make personal and social change towards the more desirable culture. Feminism now focuses on inequalities and inequities that are cooperated with the ability, class, gender, race, sex, and sexuality, that feminists are trying to change power inequity can t be created. Feminist political activities have been coming together to campaign in areas such as reproductive rights, domestic violence, fairness, social justice, and work place issues. Different cultures are biased and only allow women to wear certain clothes, perform certain tasks, authority to speak, etc. Women are deceived as powerless and easy to some men and other sexist people. The word Feminism was first referred to women s freedom or emancipation. The word first appeared in French as feminisme in the 1870 s. Hubertine Auclert used the term feminist about herself and others working for women s freedom. In 1890, the word Feminist was being used in Europe and in 1894 it came into America. After the First International Women s Conference in Paris in 1892 was used daily in English for a belief in equal rights for women based on the idea of the equality of the sexes.
  • 14. Freedom Of Speech, The Most Precious Amendment In The... Freedom of speech, the most precious amendment in the United States Constitution. Why? Because without our freedom to share our opinions, write our thoughts, tell our stories, challenge other thoughts, processes, and even our government, we would be chained by the slavery of control and censorship. Yes, maybe a bit dramatic but as a female mixed race student athlete I think my life would be very different without my first amendment right of Freedom of Speech. My ancestors were slaves to other human beings. Without a voice, without the right to say yes, or no, or maybe. No voice, no opinion, no significance. WRONG! Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is now a regular part of our lives. Actually as a 17 year old, I don’t know anything different. The internet is a way to explore and connect. I am a 100% supporter of freedom of speech but I also know my personal and national security can be at risk if we don’t at least know about plots being planned or people trying to harm others. That’s the dilemma! If you have 100% freedom of speech you cannot protect 100% of the child being bullied by others, prevent a teen suicide, or avoid the next 9/11 event that can take thousands of lives. I wonder if the recent shooting from Las Vegas could have been prevented if the shooter’s gun buying activities had been regularly been monitored on the
  • 15. Glass Of The Art Industry udio glass in my eyes is a big part of the art industry as it has changed the view of a material that has been used for over 4000 years. Harvey Littleton was the founder of this movement and he also contributed too many artists who have worked with the studio glass movement throughout the years especially at the start. He taught hot glass in a garage on the grounds of the Toledo Museum of Art. At an American Crafts Council conference in 1959 they challenged Littleton to prove that hot glass was a medium that could be worked on by individual artists in their own studios. There were many people throughout the arts community that thought Littleton s work had little more than novelty value. One of Littleton s early students in 1964 was Marvin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first time he ever worked with a partner was in this program, Fritz Dreisbach, and doing this came the collaborative model that he has used throughout his career. His first piece that he made at the university made him aware that glass doesn t need to just be an industrial product that is mass produced it can be personal to the maker and an expression by them too. Near enough all of his work has been very abstract and brightly coloured since he started making work. Most of his early works are quite simple but they are purposely an art form. Chihuly is an artist who was and still is always making things more difficult and always stretches studio glass and the glass itself to its limits. He and his team try to push glass as an art into larger and larger spaces. He likes to take the 2000 years of glass making history and transform it into magnificent works. After losing the sight in one of his eyes and also hurting his shoulder which stopped him being able to blow glass himself, it has made him look at his work in a different way as he can no longer see the work as most others do so he has to explain to his workers what he would like them to do, which I think would be a hard thing to do as he works with lots of different people and his work is quite big and extravagant. Littleton himself was open to science and industry from a young age dew to his father being the head of research at Corning Glass Works.

  • 17. Literary Analysis Of A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner 1 Literary Analysis on A Rose For Emily by William Faulkner William Faulkner has done a wonderful work in his essay A Rose for Emily. Faulkner uses symbols, settings, character development, and other literary devices to express the life of Emily and the behavior of the people of Jefferson town towards her. By reading the essay, the audience cannot really figure out who the narrator is. It seems like the narrator can be the town s collective voice. The fact that the narrator uses collective pronoun we supports the theory that the narrator is describing the life of Miss Emily on behalf of the townspeople. Faulkner has used the flashback device in his essay to make it more interesting. The story begins with the portrayal of Emily s funeral and it moves to her past and at the end the readers realize that the funeral is a flashback as well. The story starts with the death of Miss Emily when he was seventy four years old and it takes us back when she is a young and attractive girl. Faulkner has characterized all the characters in the best possible way. Emily Grierson, Homer Barron, Judge Stevens the mayor of Jefferson, Mr. Grierson Emily s father, Tobe Emily s servant, and Colonel Sartoris a former mayor of Jefferson are the major charters in the story. The narrator describes Emily as a monument, but with a lot of negativity. The story shows us how she was a smart young girl and then how she end up being an overprotective and secretive old woman. She refused to accept the change when her father died and that s why she kept telling all the people in town that her father is still alive. Homer Barron is much like Emily. Like Emily, Homer is an outsider and becomes the topic of gossip. The narrator describes Homer as a big man with dark complexion with a good sense of humor. Tobe s character in the story plays an important role. He is a loyal and dutiful servant. He cared for Emily till she died, but he walked out of the back door and never returned after Emily s death. Mr. Grierson was a well maintained person. When he was alive, Emily s house was always beautifully maintained. He earned a lot of respect in the society but when he died the respect towards his family died with him. Faulkner uses

Some of his works that include, the use of special sound devices are Blackberry Picking, Mid Term Break, and Death of Naturalist. In these different poems, Heaney makes use of different sounds in order to create the mood or tone, he that he wanted to display through his writing. In Heaney s poem Blackberry Picking, there are two sounds that were repeated throughout the poem; those two sounds were of the letter B and the letter F. When Heaney repeatedly used the letter B in Blackberry Picking the narrator seemed to be excited, he was telling a story of picking berries, possibly to a friend and he was speaking animatedly about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Death of a Naturalist, Heaney uses the clashing sound of consonants to create an unpleasant and uncomfortable tone for the reader. Some examples of the cacophony that was created are warm thick slobber/ of the frogspawn that grew like clotted water (8 9) and Some sat/ poised like mud grenades, their blunt heads farting (28 29). These sentence when read out loud do not please the ear at all, and unpleasant sounds can translate to an unpleasant mood pretty easily just as pleasant sounds can easily translate to a happy or joyful mood. The sound of the words used and the description of the frogs in the poem can make the reader uncomfortable and it can make them feel like they are also there in the lavishing frogspawn. The poem as a whole sort of makes the reader feel like they are physically dirty from being in the place with the narrator. Also in Death of a Naturalist the narrator is a child, and the poem describes the transition of a specific child who loses their love of nature because one day nature rebelled against him/her. So the fact that Heaney used the ineloquent sound that cacophony can create, it helped reinforce the childlike feeling of the narrator. Again in Death of a Naturalist Heaney used a sound device to help create a tone that he wanted readers to catch

Rites Of Passage And Ritual Attending a kind of subcultural initiation ritual, known as a gig, in this case comprised of local Wellington musicians is reminiscent of Turner s discussion of rituals and Rites of passage. This particular ritual form certainly encourages belonging, uniformity that appears to be a universal attribute of group rituals. It is important to distinguish between ceremonyand ritualhere, the gig can be considered a ritual as it could promote transformation in an individual and is not a conformational event. The following essay discusses this ritual in two parts, firstly examining Turner s discussion of Rites of Passage and ritual particularly Separation, liminalityand Aggregation themes. Secondly the essay will suggest what this particular ritual does for identity and community and suggest that rituals, more broadly, remain essential to contemporary life. Overall, this essay will argue that Turner s discussion is useful in illuminating aspects of this ritual, however it does not accurately explain all of it. Prior to arriving at the venue, it is necessary to prepare for the evening, this reflects Turner s discussion regarding separation in the ritual process. Turner argues that this stage is the detachment from a fixed point of cultural conditions and social structure, a removal from a particular state. In the case of the gig fans distinguish hemselves from the non believers, those who do not have faith in the music they prepare for. A holy state is entered into prior to

In almost every case, the location of a biblical book relative to other canonical books, whether in terms of the grouping in which it is placed, or the book(s) that follow or precede it, has hermeneutical significance for the reader who seeks meaning in the text (Goswell, 688). For Christians and Jews, their understanding of scriptures purpose is derived from religious texts. The textual arrangement portrays and supports an entirely different meaning to each community. For the Jewish community, the canons reveal their belief in God and their role with the divine entity. The books of the Hebrew Bible take particular significance with the Jewish community in

Howevere the lecture argues that no evidence proves those reasons that are correct. Thus, the lecture holds an opposite view of the reading. Firstly, the professor mentions that sea cows have not been overhunted by people. In other words, sea cows were pretty massive and enomous. But native Sebirian people were not very much. So people could not hunt sea cows and they didn t hunt. So it s unlikely that native peole have been overhunt sea cows. The point is the opposit of the belief in the reading that people caused sea cows deline since they have been overhunt. Therefor, the professor refutes

We often go into a place and we can tend to judge people. By the language or color or what they wear. It happens all the time. This is just a natural habit for most human beings. Usually they are incorrect. A real life example of this is when a teacher criticizes a student on their paper, the teacher must think i m stupid, I am stupid. This was just like what happened to me at work yesterday. One of my babies that I take care of was going home because her father came to pick her up. I told him she was in the playroom and he went down there and I had to call him back because I forgot she was sleeping. He came back and I felt like such an idiot and I was thinking to myself he must think I am an idiot for this one. Like how could I forget about his child sleeping? I apologised for the mistake and I still felt like he hated me for it even though he said it was fine and her parents are really nice anyways. George Herbert Mend continued Charles Cooley s study. He developed a useful model of the process by which the self emerges. They are the preparatory stage, the play stage, and the game stage. He explains that the preparatory stage is when children imitate people around them (especially family members who the continuously interact with). Monkey see monkey do. As they grow older children will become more adept at using symbols like gestures and words that form the basis of communication. By interacting with relatives and friends and watching cartoons on television and also looking at picture books, children will begin to understand symbols and

The Crucible Film Techniques Another scene in the film in which Kaye has carefully used the soundtrack to convey the idea of Derek s actions affecting Danny is the revelation scene later on in the film. During this scene, we see Derek reflecting on the past through a flashback. A buildup of soft violin, piano and cello sounds are used in contrast to other parts of the filmto amplify the sense of happiness and to show how Derek cherishes this memory as it is possibly the last moment where his life was good. By using a build up of volume and pace in the soundtrack Kaye is able to make the audience understand how this is a past memory that is happy for Derek and that the emotions he is experiencing are due to his change of character from a violent racist into a normal person.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through his directing Kaye shows the viewer the link between Danny and Derek, highlighting the issue of racial traits being passed down through modern American families and warning the audience about the future. His use of camerawork and soundtrack in uncommon ways compared to how other films of this genre make this film stand out and provide a more visceral and realistic sense of how racism affects many Americans in modern times. Kaye s use of close ups provide the raw and gut wrenching emotions in every scene, be it the stomach turning sense of teeth touching the curb or to highlight the emotion on a character s face. His use of soundtrack further enhances every scene seamlessly building tension and then bringing it all crashing down in a high pitched threnody. Through studying this film it is clear to see that Tony Kaye s masterful use of camerawork and soundtrack in these two scenes successfully pushes the message of the film home, which is that even though we may not be able to see it, racist traits are still passed down through families in today s world. Although the entire film helps to further push that point it is these two scenes that show to the viewer that even a simple racist statement from a parent or sibling can be enough to affect a child for the rest of their life and to further spread racism and intolerance into the

For example for The Burbs, the numbers in Exhibit 7 suggest that the value of the sequel at t=3 (using the suggested 12% discount rate) is : NPV (at t=3) = $27.3/1.12 $24 = $0.375 million. It follows that the NPV at t=0 can be found by discounting the above number three years at 12% doing so you get a value of $0.2669 million which is an estimate of what you pay for the sequel right at t=0. Looking at this in terms of an internal rate of return the one year return can be calculated as ($27.3/24) 1=.1375 or 13.75% (this number has been rounded up to .14 or 14% in Exhibit 7). Note that whenever this IRR is above 12%, the sequel will be positive NPV. 5. Assume that a maximum of ten sequels can be made in any given year (choose the sequels that are most likely to be made for example if the main character in the film dies then a sequel is unlikely to be made) Using the same decision tree approach, what would you estimate to be the per movie value of the sequel rights to the entire portfolio of 99 movies released in 1989 by the six major studios? 6. Using the Black Scholes approach, calculate the per movie value of the sequel rights to the entire

For some people the advances of technology in today s world can be viewed as a negative or a positive in a persons life. But what about the technological advances and the effects they have on a child s life? For this paper, research was done that examines both sides of technology and the positive or negative consequences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is also some up sides to technology for children, for example according to Psychology Today research shows that, video games and other screen media improve visual spatial capabilities, increase attentional ability, reaction times, and the capacity to identify details among clutter. There are plenty of video games that incorporate learning into them and can be beneficial for a child because they can make math, spelling, history, or whatever other subjects the child may be having difficulty with, fun. There are so many different kinds of games that are geared, especially towards children s learning that it almost seems more beneficial for a child to play a learning game than to sit in front of the television. The problem with this lies in the notion that most children are not playing educational games or watching educational television. Instead, they are drawn to social media platforms or random websites with little to no educational benefits. Some of the downsides of technology are that children are not getting as much exercise and fresh air as they were ten or more years ago. According to the BBC, Children aged five to sixteen spend an average of six and a half hours a day in front of a screen compared with around three hours in 1995, according to market research firm Childwise.
