US Botanic Garden Controversy
The U.S. Botanic Garden is a living plant museum which was originally built between Pennsylvania
and Maryland avenues but it was moved to its current location in Washington, DC in 1933. The U.S.
Botanic Garden is a symbol of the dream George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison
shared. The U.S. Botanic Garden has been around for more than 200 years and this 200 year old
Gardens history will be explained (About Us)(Brief History of the U.S. Botanic Garden)(U.S. Botanic
Garden Conservatory).
The Botanic Garden traces its beginnings back to 1816 when an institute made a proposal to make a
Botanic Garden to protect, grow, and distribute plants of this country and other countries so that it
would make a contribution to the welfare of the American people. The Botanic Garden only ... Show

Botanic Garden, a living plant museum, that with its displays the U.S. Botanic Garden demonstrates
the cultural, therapeutical, and economical importance of plants. Today, not only has the Botanic
Garden provided botanical knowledge but it teaches about a wide variety of plants. Without the
Botanic Garden the U.S. would be lacking a crucial section of knowledge that would be fundamental
to human survival, even humankind would not be the same without this Botanic Garden apart of the
U.S. because this Garden is steeped in history, rich with tradition, and this Garden has irreplaceable

Since the 17th Century the U.S. Botanic Garden has been a symbol of our job to support the fragile
life of plants and the fragile life they support. Today there is an even better need to have an
understanding of plants and their needs. If people can understand the history of the Botanic Garden
and what it stands for then people will be able to grow to understand plants, their jobs, their role in
human life, and why plants are important to humans as a whole (About

CONDITIONS UNDER TRADE PRACTICES ACT 1974 AND FAIR TRADING ACT 1999 As
shown in diagram 1, we can clearly see that the conditions where both act applies are different and
somewhat similar. Under s. 4B in TPA, the conditions which differ from FTA conditions stated in
s32D are: ➢ Sellers are only corporations under TPA while all sellers come under the FTA. ➢ FTA
applies to transactions within the State of Victoria whereas TPA applies to both interstate and
international transactions. ➢ FTA is applicable to conditions where communication methods are used
such as the use of post or telegraphic systems. The similarity between the conditions of both acts are
that the acts apply to consumers who purchase goods or services worth less than $40000 and when the
price is more than $40000, then the goods or services consumed should be used for personal, domestic
or household purposes. Goods which are purchased for resale or goods used as inputs in the
commercial production are not applicable under both acts.[7] Diagram 1 Therefore, if TPA is not
applicable to a situation, FTA is used as a second weapon to protect consumers within the State of
Victoria. Victorian government uses both acts as they

Saint Emmanuel The Good Martyr Analysis
In Lasallian schools the core principle of concern for the poor and social justice invites students and
staff to be in solidarity with the poor and advocate for those suffering injustices. This means that
people should have awareness of the poor and those who are victims of injustices and respond to their
needs by means of community service and advocacy. This core principle is illustrated in the novella,
Saint Emmanuel the Good, Martyr by Miguel de Unamuno. The main character, Don Emmanuel is the
parson of the city of Valverde. The congregation of this parish look up to Don Emmanuel, admire him,
and are overtaken by his words in mass. However, the narrator reveals that Don Emmanuel was not a
man of faith. Metamorphosis by Kafka, presents a story of a young man who one day wakes up and is
transformed into a bug. As a result of this transformation, he is mistreated by his family and
considered useless in society. In the case of Saint Emmanuel the Good Martyr, there is a character that
does not believe in God, yet practices concern for the poor and social justice on a daily basis. On the
other hand, we have a character that yearns what Don Emmanuel gives to the citizens in Valverde,
care and concern. Don Emmanuel is a living example of someone who follows the Lasallian core
principle of concern for the poor and social justice. Although Don Emmanuel is a controversial
character because he does not believe in God, I don t think this makes concern and care for others

The Sophist
The Sophist, written by Plato in 360 B.C.E. attempts to search for definitions through deep
philosophical searching. The persons of dialogue in this piece are Theodorus, Theaetetus, Socrates
(who mainly serves as a silent authority), and an Eleatic Stranger, who leads the majority of the
dialogue. As the dialogue commences, Socrates asks the stranger what is thought of sophists,
statesman, and philosophers in his home country of Italy. However, Socrates does not simply ask the
Stranger to define the three, he instead asks him how the three types of men are regarded in his
country under one, two, or three names. As the men (Theaeteteus and the Stranger) debate the likes of
the angler and the sophist they find that the definition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The art of the sophist, as described by Plato, is very complex and unique. His arts confuse both
Theaecteteus and the Stranger because every time the men attempt to divide his characteristics they
find themselves getting led down entirely different paths, unlike the monotonous angler. As they start
discussing the sophist both men easily agree that he too is a hunter. However, as the Stranger points
out, the sophist is a terrestrial hunter, one that is a hired hunter of young men of wealth (Plato). At the
end of their first division, the men believe they have not only uncovered the sophists art [which] may
be traced from the art of acquisition through exchange, trade, merchandise, to a merchandise of the
soul which is concerned with speech and the knowledge of virtue (Plato), but also the definition of the
thing itself. Yet, the Stranger is not content, he asks Theaecteteus to discover another branch of the
sophist s genealogy. The Stranger asks to him to think into the sophist s hunts with more detail. This
time, he asks Theaecteteus to think of the sophist as someone who is engaged in everyday commerce.
Branching off from ideas similar to this, the stranger asks him to think about the sophist in a variety of
different ways (five different times). Each time, the division ends up taking them down varying paths
with far different endings. On the Strangers final attempt, he makes a new division of art, this time he

Critique of Ecology of Youth Collective Socialization by...
In Ecology of Youth Collective Socialization , Nicotera, Williams, and Anthony argue that multiple
social ecology influences of peers, school, as well as neighborhoods are extensively related to youth s
well being, as well as misconducts. Within the article written, the intended audience consists of
scholars, professionals, parents, as well as current and future researchers. The three authors submitted
multiple hypotheses regarding the influences of peers, school, as well as neighborhoods on today s
youth while omitting familial influences. As presented above, the author s main objective for writing
this particular article is to present as well as analyze the collective socialization of today s youth
through peer, school, and neighborhood influences resulting in both positive as well as negative results
regarding their well being and misconducts. Their main arguments consist of their presentation as well
as analysis of the influences of both positive and negative outcomes. The author s base their analysis
on each of these influences through administered investigations, current studies, questionnaires, as
well as previous research from scholars to support the multiple hypotheses. The purpose of this
particular article consists of the examination of the influences of perceived neighborhoods, distal
peers, and proximal peers regarding the problematic behavior as well as well being of today s youth.

Other Relevant Explanations Of Vedic Astrology
Other Relevant Explanations
Vedic astrology further classifies human life span according planetary periods called Dashas, both
Main (Maha) and Sub (Antar or Bukti) periods. Knowing a particular planetary Dasha helps us
determine the quality of the time concerned, vis a vis the influence of the major transits of planets
during that Dasha period.
Currently you are subject to Shani (Saturn) Maha Dasa which began on June 2004 and goes on until
June 2023. Prior to this, you were subject to Jupiter or Guru Maha Dasa for 16years from June 1988
until June 2004. The 16 years of Guru Dasa would have provided you with marriage, gains, financial
assets, children and successful family life. During this period your overall position in life, including ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, Shani s malefic expression affecting marriage and spouse is because; in your horoscope Guru
(Jupiter ) denotes spouse. And among significations in a family or relationship Ravi (Surya/Sun)
denotes the official or socially recognized position for the male spouse. Now Shani is a bitter enemy
of Surya (Sun). Hence, between 2004 and 2007 when transit Saturn (Gochara Shani) enters your 3rd
house of communication he afflicts natal Guru who sits in your 3rd house. Now according to Jyotish
classification natal Guru clearly denotes your spouse. Hence, by virtue of transit Shani s entry into
your 3rd house from May 2004 and October 2006, he negatively conjuncts with natal Guru afflicting
communication and martial harmony between you and your husband.
Note: in the natural zodiac 3rd house denotes communication. And in the Vedic system of
significations Guru(Jupiter) denotes spouse in a female s chart. Now in your horoscope 3rd house is
also the sign of Cancer or Kataka. And Kataka is ruled by Chandra (Moon). And in Jyotish Moon
denotes our mind. Therefore, without a shadow of doubt the entry of Gochara Shani upon the house of
communication will inflict his poison upon the mind of the spouses; causing separation and affliction
of marriage.
Next between October 2006 and September 2009 Gochara Shani enters your 4th house denoting
home, bonds of attachments and legal ties. Now your 4th house is the sign of

Summary Of Paul Revere s Ride
On the Historical Integrity of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow s Paul Revere s Ride In history, many
feats are told time and time again and become more grandeur with each utterance, to the point where
nearly all original meaning is long lost. As Doctor Manhattan said it in Watchmen, The illusion
vanishes, almost before it has registered (Gibbons and Moore 26). For example, with Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow s poem, Paul Revere s Ride, this certainly is the case. To suggest that the
aforementioned poem is a work of historical non fiction is a suggestion that can be simply and
eloquently discredited using real documents, the face value of the piece, and simple logic. To begin,
Longfellow s poem simply is not a credible source of historical information, as there are real letters
from the night of Paul Revere s ride that contain the true sequence of events. In a letter to Jeremy
Belknap; for instance, Paul Revere summarizes his actions over the course of the night. In reality, Paul
Revere s ride was slower paced and far more suspenseful. The poem makes no mention of the British
officers that threaten to blow Revere s brains out (Gilder Lehrman). In the letter, there are many more
comrades along on the journey, whereas the poem suggest that Revere was a lone rider, storming into
each town to alert the people at full gallop. As a result, it is ridiculous to even pose the question of the
historical integrity of Longfellow s poem when the first relevant source of information

Pip Quotes In Great Expectations
Despite any controversy over Dickens style, most agree that Great Expectations is his best book. The
story, while set in the early part of the 1800s, was written in 1860 during the Victorian era that began
with the crowning of Queen Victoria in 1837 and lasted until her death in 1901. Virtues emphasized at
that time included integrity, respectability, a sense of public duty, and maintaining a close knit family.
Phillip Pirip is nicknamed Pip, a word commonly used to describe the seed of an apple. From early
childhood well into adulthood, Pip s budding maturity is the focus of the novel. In keeping with the
Bildungsroman genre, Pip is at first an innocent young child whose place in this world hasn t been
defined. He is an orphan whose only sister finds him a bother and a burden; she resents him to the
point of cruelty. In true Bildungsroman fashion, the hero must become unsatisfied with his life and his
place in society. The visits to Miss Havisham are the motivation for this discontent. Estella s disgust
for everything common introduces Pip to shame and embarrassment over his family and his
appearance. He becomes obsessed with uncommon ness and the want to overcome his position in
order to impress Estella. The inheritance he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

had specific rights and were each in a class. There were seven classes the priests, the warriors, the

There was a large selection of jobs for the Egyptians. The jobs were carpenters, craftsmen, potters,
bead markers, stonemasons, sculptors, brickmakers, mistress of the house, and merchants. Carpenters
had to build many objects such as roof beams, furniture, or statues. They used tools such as saws,
axes, chisels, adzes, wooden mallets, stone polishers, and bow drills. Craftsmen had to create
protective amulets, tomb paintings, magical enchantments on papyrus, funeral jars, painted pottery,
pottery figures, painted scenes, cartouches, hieroglyphics, ivory grave goods, protective weapons,

Superhero Comparison Essay
Superhero Compare and Contrast Why are Deadpool and Deathstroke so similar? Marvel and DC have
both discretely plagiarized character ideas for decades. It seems a writer can not create an original idea
for a superhero without copying a trait or personality from some other popular superhero character.
When observing a biographical website or article about the newly created superhero Mouth Rot , a
reader may recognize key features between Mouth Rot and other famous superheroes. Mouth Rot is
similar in appearance and ability to Cyborg from the original Teen Titans TV show. He also shares
similar backstory features to Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier in the Captain America and The
Avengers movies. Mouth Rot s main plot line, personality, and some of his powers are similar to
Deadshot in the Suicide Squad movie. However, Mouth Rot is not a completely plagiarized character,
and has many unique attributes to his personality and morality. In regards to Mouth Rot and Cyborg

Media Is A Political Issue That Has Greatly Affected...
A political issue that has greatly affected politics as well as the system of electing a president is the
media. The media is a very important topic when discussing politics for a variety of reasons. The
media includes television, radio, internet and social media sites such as Instagram and twitter. All of
these forms of media are very influential and they reach a wide variety of the population. The amount
of people that can be informed or influenced by these different forms of media is enormous. Because
the media is easily accessible and highly influential it can be both beneficial and detrimental. This is
important for many public figures, but it is also very important in regards to politics. Information that
is broadcasted through the many different forms of media can cause a lot of issues when dealing with
politics as well as many other areas. This essay defends the thesis that there are a plethora of reasons
the media is a political issue that has increased in the last fifty years the three primary reasons are the
amount of people that can be influenced, the type of information that can be broadcasted and lastly the
effects media can have on a political campaign or major political issue. The first reason media in
politics is important is the amount of people that can be influenced through the use of media. Even
though the media has been around for more than fifty years it has not been as prominent as it is now.

Hybrid Vs. Electric Cars
Hybrid vs. Electric
When hearing the words gas, hybrid and electric, people automatically think of automobiles.. [this is a
very clunky opening rewrite it I think people do know those are the three main types of cars...]
People buy hybrid or electric cars because they either want to save money on gas or they want to be
able to help the environment with their vehicles. One of the most popular hybrid vehicles in the
United States is the Toyota Prius, which, compared to a normal gas powered car, has great mileage
and reduced fuel emissions. The popularity of the Tesla Model S a fully electrically powered car has
recently skyrocketed due to the increase in gas prices. Hybrid technology powered cars, such as the
Toyota Prius, are better for the environment than fully electric powered vehicles, such as Tesla s
Model S, because of the emissions created by the electricity that powers the vehicle.
The gas powered vehicle has been a problem for the environment since the day it was created. These
vehicles emit greenhouse gasses that are detrimental towards the environment. Nearly one fifth of the
United States total fuel emissions come from gas powered cars. In 2012 transportation contributed
with 28% of total greenhouse emissions in the United States. One of the greenhouse gasses that cars
emit is Carbon Dioxide. What greenhouse gases including Carbon Dioxide do is trap heat in the Earth

country in order to protect and promote domestic markets. Protectionism is often seen as a hindrance
to free trade because it isolates and hinders some foreign industries which are willing to compete

While Free trade can be described as when government put in place policies which allow overseas

Free Trade Protectionism
a. It paves way for cooperation. It protects domestic industries and their workers by imposing tariffs
on competing foreign goods.
b. It encourages transparency and healthy competition It makes the production prices high and leaves

Dulce Et Decorum Est Propaganda
Dulce Et Decorum Est is an anti war poem, written by a soldier in the british army during World War
1, who ended up being one of the leading poets of the first world war. In his poem, Dulce Et Decorum
Est , Wilfred Owen uses diction to evoke grotesque imagery that portrays the true horrors of the WWI
battlefield in contrast to the blind patriotism promoted by propaganda.
There is a great presence of juxtaposition used throughout the poem as a way to emphasise contrasts
between war and propaganda and to touch on a greater idea of the contradicting issues presented by
the battlefield. For instance, there is a significant contrast between the title, Dulce Et Decorum Est,
meaning it is sweet and honorable to die for one s country, and the

Comparison Of Thomas Malthus And Garret Hardin Cycle Of...
Poverty is the discrepancy between the powers of reproduction and the ability to expand food
production. People are poor because there are too many of them, and they keep having children in
spite of their poverty. Poverty exists because of overpopulation. Providing relief to the poor will
simply encourage them to have more children. Poverty is an economic issue, and eliminating poverty
will not only benefit the individual, but will benefit the entire country. Both Thomas Malthus and
Garret Hardin proved poverty is the fault of the individual and therefore it is their responsibility to
eliminate it. Wealthy nations are not responsible for eliminating poverty among the poorer nations. To
begin, poverty goes hand in hand with overpopulation. Poor people choose to continue to reproduce
which ultimately leads to them continuing the cycle of poverty. The poor people are to blame for their
poverty and it is their job to reduce population and eliminate poverty. Malthus proves that poverty will
always be with us because of population increase. Poverty is the result of the poor people, who lack

The population continues to increase geometrically while subsistence only increases arithmetically
(Malthus 325). The poor people start having families at a young age and continue to reproduce.
Essentially this leads to overpopulation, which in the long run leads to us occupying all of the land and
running out. This makes it harder for people in poverty to find work because so many people are
looking for jobs. Labor prices then cost less, but because of the lack of food the price for it goes up.
This ultimately leads to the poor people having to work more and harder to make money. Once they
make money, and are able to buy food and provide for their family, they believe they are well off
which leads to them reproducing and the poverty cycle starting all over again (Malthus

main options surfaced; either 1) to expand distribution into food stores or 2) to introduce a new line
called Cambridge. MARKET OVERVIEW The men s toiletries market was divided into three groups
based on pricing, namely, exclusive, medium and mass priced category. MEM had competed primarily
in the medium priced market. Its principal toiletries were marketed under the English Leather line of
which generated 68.3% of total sales revenue. This was substantially more than any other line it

Initial 5 forces conclusions seem to hinge on a lack of competitive advantage to launch Cambridge in
the short run. RECOMMENDATIONS After a SWOT and 5 forces analysis, we would recommend
that MEM: 1. Delay the initial launch of Cambridge and in the meantime do the following: 2. Divert
energies and resources to expansion into food stores 3. Try to advance and maybe extend the product
life cycle of Racquet Club and Musk to a more mature stage 4. Phase out ‘dogs – Lime, Windrift and
Timberline based on BCG 5. Monitor the sales response for Blue Stratos, if negative, launch
Cambridge. The most important reason for delaying Cambridge s launch would be to help MEM avoid
direct competition with Shulton s Blue Stratos, since obviously; people never wear 2 types of colognes
at once given that these 2 lines have the exact same target market. Hence, it would make sense to
adopt a ‘wait and see strategy. Secondly, since MEM also has a strong opportunity to expand into
food stores, we feel it would be a more effective use of resources and manpower in this expansion in
the meantime rather than in Cambridge. This expansion into food stores could create greater brand
awareness for the MEM name as well as its other lesser profitable lines besides English Leather.

Data Warehouse Components And Architecture
DATA WAREHOUSE COMPONENTS ARCHITECTURE
Lecture Note # 02
The data in a data warehouse comes from operational systems of the organization as well as from
other external sources. These are collectively referred to as source systems. The data extracted from
source systems is stored in a area called data staging area, where the data is cleaned, transformed,
combined, deduplicated to prepare the data for us in the data warehouse. The data staging area is
generally a collection of machines where simple activities like sorting and sequential processing takes
place. The data staging area does not provide any query or presentation services. As soon as a system
provides query or presentation services, it is categorized as a presentation server. A presentation server
is the target machine on which the data is loaded from the data staging area organized and stored for
direct querying by end users, report writers and other applications. The three different kinds of
systems that are required for a data warehouse are:
1. Source Systems
2. Data Staging Area
3. Presentation servers
The data travels from source systems to presentation servers via the data staging area. The entire
process is popularly known as ETL (extract, transform, and load) or ETT (extract, transform, and
transfer). Oracle s ETL tool is called Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) and MS SQL Server s ETL
tool is called Data Transformation Services (DTS).
A typical architecture of a data warehouse is shown below:

The New Developments Of Nuclear Reactor Technology And...
Unquestionably, the energy security is of great importance in order to maintain and sustain the
development of any growing economy. Therefore, this work will overview the new developments in
nuclear reactor technology and their importance as a safe and base load energy alternative. Mainly, the
focus will be on the Generation III (GIII), Generation IV (GIV) reactors and Small Modular Reactors
(SMRs) and their safety and efficiency capabilities. A comparison will be held between the nuclear,
solar and wind energy sources in terms of their reliability, safety, costs and infrastructural
requirements.
The energy industry faces various challenges such as the environmental consequences and climate
change, limited fossil fuel resources and the instability in its prices. Therefore, a clean and reliable
energy mix is required in order to meet these challenges. In order to meet these challenges, there is no
one energy source that can be up to all the challenges simultaneously, therefore; an energy mix is
required.
Each energy source has certain advantages and suffers certain disadvantages for example while
nuclear energy is a reliable source of base load energy, often, the safety aspect is considered the most
important obstacle that prevents most countries from implementing nuclear power plants into their
energy mix. However, recent developments in reactor technology might encourage reconsidering the
nuclear energy as an important and relatively safe component in the energy mix.

A Primary Source Of The West Indies By Henry Nelson Coleridge
The document I chose to analyze as a primary source is Six Months in The West Indies by Henry
Nelson Coleridge. This is a small journal published in 1825 that follows Henry N. Coleridge s trips
around the West Indies with his uncle, William Hart Coleridge who is a bishop of Barbados. While on
his trip throughout the isles, Coleridge not only comments on the local governments and ecosystems
but the treatment of slaves and the institution of slavery as well. His viewpoints are in no way
abolitionist, but he does appear to have a vein of sympathy for slaves of the West Indies. Many of his
viewpoints are on how society and slave owners in the West Indies could better the lives of their
slaves, none of them abolition, but for instance he suggests that one of the most effectual ways for
bettering the slaves would be thorough and humanizing education of the masters themselves (p.54).
While this argument, I feel, is not uncommon of a well educated, English, relative of a high ranking
religious official during this time period, I find it interesting to compare Coleridge s accounts of
slavery throughout the West Indies with that of an actual slave, Mary Prince, in the same region. Mary
Prince was a slave in the Caribbean, who was bought and sold to multiple owners, on multiple isles,
eventually gaining her freedom in Britain in 1828. This secondary source, The History of Mary Prince,
was transcribed by Suzanna Strickland and edited by the abolitionist who took her in, Thomas Pringle

Why Athletes Are Good Role Models
Why Athletes Are Good Role Models Ever since the ancient years, we have admired athletes and the
hard work that they do to achieve their goal of winning. We idolize them and wish we were more like
them. What happens though when the realization sinks in that they are human too and that some of
them do get greedy and selfish? A lot of athletes are model citizens that you should really look up to,
but there are also some bad apples in the bunch that ruin it for everyone. Athletes can inspire young
people to work hard so that their efforts can pay off, but no one is pure and flawless. Greed does take a
hold of some players, but they shouldn t be the ones we devote all of our attention to. We should look

Nobody is forcing athletes to be good people, we just want some of them to use better judgement. One
person that honestly thinks that ball players do serve a role as models for the kids and should live up
to it is Vincent Lamont Baker of the Milwaukee Bucks. He is the best all round player on the team and
one of the most versatile in the league. He is said to be the symbol of what the NBA is really trying to
sell: good players who are even better people. An excellent role model for black youth is Dave Bing.
He was elected into the NBA Hall of Fame in 1989 and is now the CEO of Bing Steel, a firm that had
$61 million in sales in 1991and was ranked tenth in the United States among black owned industrial
and service companies. He now donates a lot of his time and money to various charities. Football
player Orlando Pace sits with 6th grade children in their school library and helps them read. His
message was Yes, I have had some athletic ability and talent, but studying is what s really important.
He also said that he doesn t think of himself as a role model, but he is doing the right thing because he
knows that there are people looking up to him and he wants to show them something positive. I couldn
t believe all of the things he does for children and then says that he doesn t think of himself as a role
model. Most of these players are just doing their job. But he realizes

Causes Of High School Dropouts

Preventing High School Dropouts
By the time you reach high school, everyone knows someone who has dropped out. It has become a
common method of escape from whatever stresses school might be bringing upon a student. As time
goes on, more and more students seem to be dropping out of high school or college, with one student
dropping out approximately every 26 seconds. Most of them will not realize the long term effects until
it s too late. Students have begun choosing the easy way out and struggling later in life, generally
making thousands to hundreds of thousands less in their career. Though the dropout rate has fallen a
few percent in the recent years according to ( High School Dropout Rates ), the issue is still
prominent. Why do they do it and how can we prevent it?
The first big reason for dropping out is the simple lack of interest or academic difficulty in school.
They sit in class, doing anything but what they should be, waiting impatiently for the class to end. Or
they are dreading going to the next class. Nearly 26 percent report boredom as a contributing cause (
Why Kids Drop Out ). Many drop out due to the thought of even more school caused by failing
grades. The thought of even more time in a classroom proves to be too much and their motivation to
quit. Others may have other interests that take over any interest in their academics.
The second reason is problems outside of school. Be it family or housing

The Physics Of Albert Einstein

BIO 101
Professor Dartley

Albert Einstein Most people know who Albert Einstein is and how great of a physicist he was, yet
many aren t aware that Albert Einstein had not even finished high school! Most would think that a
person who doesn t complete high school is dumb, and lazy. The fact is, Einstein did not complete
high school, not because he was dumb or lazy. At the age of 15, he quit high school because he did not
agree with the way the teachers taught. He thought that the teacher s weren t teaching in a way that
didn t allow students to freely question or use their creative imagination. Einstein once said Reality is
merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one. By this he shows that he isn t for seeing things the way
they seem, and he tends to think deeper into things. He shows that he keeps his mind open, open to
learn new things that can t be noticed by a simple glance. Many would also think that one who drops
out of high school may not go anywhere in life. Einstein won a Nobel Prize in Physics, a Gold Medal
of The Royal Astronomical Society, and many other awards. Even if Einstein never even finished high
school, his creation of the equation E = mc2, theory of relativity, and theory of light led the way to
him becoming known as the father of modern physics. Albert Einstein was Born in Ulm,
Württemberg, Germany in 1879. He was the son of Hermann Einstein, a salesman and engineer who
was the head of Elektrotechnische Fabrik J. Einstein

Budgets Are Essential Business Practice
Abstract: Budgets are essential business practice embedded in organizations since the 1920 s and are
considered key drivers and evaluators of managerial performance and key elements for planning and
control. Budgets are thought to be the most powerful tool for management control; they play essential
roles in the organization s political structure as they are used often to increase the power and authority
of top management and limit the autonomy of lower level managers. Despite its ambiguous benefits,
traditional budgeting presents organizations with various challenges. In recent times critics of
traditional budgeting have increased vastly. The basis of this criticism is that traditional budgeting is a
relic of the past. It prevents reactions to change in the market, it cannot keep up with the challenges
and requirements of today s business world and it isn t useful for neither business management nor
stakeholders. In an attempt to eliminate criticism, researchers and practitioners in the field of
management accountancy have developed more systematic concepts of budgeting which that better
suits the needs of the modern business environment. Developments resulted in beyond budgeting,
better budgeting, zero based budgeting, rolling forecasts and activity based budgeting as main
alternatives to the traditional system. Reka et al. argue that beyond budgeting is the most effective
alternative to traditional budgeting. This paper focuses on evaluating the usefulness of

Taking a Look at Flu H5N1
################################################# Part 2
################################### There are multiple different sources for epidemiological
measures used for tracking and reporting the number of cases. There are websites where you can go to
post confirmed cases in areas, where that information is then taken and calculated. There are also
places that provide charts for the amount of confirmed outbreaks and then separates them from human
cases and avian cases. But the best types of reports available are the map tracking ones. Where they
give distinction marks for avian and human cases and all over the different areas of the world. This is
very handy for seeing how bad and large an outbreak is and what species is affected, whether it is
humans or birds. The incidence rate is a measure of morbidity and number of infected worldwide,
looking over the past 10 years. Over the past ten years there have 650 infected.(Yu Chan, 2014). This
is not a large number because of the fact it is not spread through human to human contact but through
already infected poultry. The prevalence rate is the number of current/existing cases worldwide. The
United States has yet to have a confirmed outbreak because we set such high regulations on the meat
we sell in our markets, thus preventing a large outbreak from hitting our country. The mortality rate is
the number of deaths caused by the H5N1 virus worldwide. For

Maximizing Performance Appraisal System Acceptance
Employee acceptance is a critical component of an effective performance appraisal system.(1)
Research in organizational behavior clearly demonstrates that employee attitudes influence behavior,
(2) and participant attitudes toward performance appraisal systems are no exception.(3) The attitudes
of system participants play a key role in both the short and long term success of a performance
appraisal system.(4) The goal of this research is to identify the characteristics of municipal
government performance appraisal systems that are associated with perceived employee acceptance as
reported by a national sample of municipal government personnel officials. Performance appraisal

This sense of unfairness will be exacerbated if the employee perceives no opportunity to rebut the
information or present his or her views.(16) The task, therefore, becomes developing a process that
cultivates accurate and comprehensive information in a manner that is perceived by employees as
being fair. Leventhal and Greenberg discussed three broad principles that influence perceived fairness
in performance appraisal systems. First, employees should possess the ability to correct or rebut
inaccurate information. Second, that specific procedures should be introduced to increase the accuracy
of performance information (such as performance diaries, comprehensive rater training, objective
performance standards). Third, that procedural safeguards are present to discourage biased ratings
(appeal processes, evaluating the rater on how well they administer the process). To fully
operationalize these principles, a much greater voice and role for the employee is necessary. What are
the preferred means for accomplishing these goals? Employee Voice Participation, goal setting and
feedback are formal means for interjecting employee voice into the appraisal process. The original
definition of employee voice included only participation. Employee voice is the employees ability to
influence the decision making process.(18) Employee participation is the most common means for
operationalizing voice. Participation enables the ratee to express opinions,

Self-Identity In Cultural Awareness
Self identity is one of the first steps in cultural awareness. Who are you, where did you come from,
what language do you speak, besides all of the questions before this the biggest one is who are you as
an individual. Knowing whom we are and being able to self identify with something is key. I am a
Christian that believes in God the Apostles and the only son of God, Jesus. I also believe that Mary is
his mother and specify my beliefs by saying that I am Roman Catholic. My maternal side adopted me
after my father and she divorced. My religious beliefs are influenced heavily by this decision of
adoption. My adoptive mother and her family are Roman Catholic I was baptized, made my first

This specific engagement is near and dear to my heart and I hope to one day get a grant to start a not
for profit organization. I want to allow individuals that have fallen on hard times and lost everything
to a specific situation the freedom to start over in life. I want to have a home that these individuals can
come and get on their feet. It would be a 6 12 month program where affiliated companies would
provide paid training. It would start with a drug screening and rehabilitation if needed than the
program would start. The program would provide clean clothes to the individuals and the ability to
groom; furthermore, the individuals would be assisted with writing a resume and finding a job. At the
end of the 3 months of training, they would begin their transition to independent status ( each case
would be individualized) and they would start putting money into a saving account that would be
overseen by the staff and released to the individual upon graduation to get their own place, get utilities
started and other necessities. I feel many of us take for granted all that we have until we lose
something, some of us are fortunate to have never lost anything, and others are very unfortunate in
that they lose everything. The lesson to learn is that everyone has a story, let us open our heart and
minds to help these individuals. There are not only

Tornado Vs Ef4 Tornado
I have learned a lot of different facts about tornadoes, but to better understand a tornado I needed to
know how they are measured. That s when I learned here in the USA (and Canada) tornadoes are
classified by strength and estimated wind speed, according to the Enhanced Fujita Scale (EF Scale),
which assigns a rating of between EF0 and EF5. After carefully reviewing the EF Scale and getting a
better understanding as to the differences between an EFO EF5 tornadoes, it seems to me any type of
tornado can leave deadly damage in its path. Although the largest tornadoes have the reputation for
destroying entire cities in just minutes, smaller scaled tornadoes can be deadly as well. So does this
mean that tornadoes are more deadly when people are

Brief History Of Terrorism In The 19th Century
The history of terrorism is well known as a historically significant personalities, entities and incidents
associated whether rightly or wrongly with terrorism. Scholars agree that terrorism is a uncertain term
and very few of those considered terrorists describe themselves as such. It is common for opponents in
a violent battle to describe the other side as terrorist or as practicing terrorism. Scholars dispute
whether the roots of terrorism date back to the 1st century and the Sicarii Zealots to the 11th century
and the Al Hashshashin to the 19th century and the Fenian Brotherhood and Narodnaya Volya or to
other eras. The Sicarii and the Hashshashin are described below while the Fenian Brotherhood and
Narodnaya Volya are discussed in the 19th Century sub section. Other control of Terror historical
events sometimes associated with terrorism contain the Gunpowder Plot an attempt to destroy the
English Parliament in 1605. Terrorism was also linked with state terror and the Reign of Terror in
France until the mid19th century when the term also began to be associated with nongovernmental
groups. Lawlessness often in league with rising nationalism was the most projecting ideology linked
with terrorism. Attacks by various revolutionary groups led to the assassination of a Russian Tsar and
a U.S. President.

The U.S. Botanic Garden has been around for more than 200 years and this 200 year old Gardens history will be explained (About Us)(Brief History of the U.S. Botanic Garden)(U.S. Botanic Garden Conservatory). CONDITIONS UNDER TRADE PRACTICES ACT 1974 AND FAIR TRADING ACT 1999 As shown in diagram 1, we can clearly see that the conditions where both act applies are different and somewhat similar. Under s. 4B in TPA, the conditions which differ from FTA conditions stated in s32D are: ➢ Sellers are only corporations under TPA while all sellers come under the FTA. ➢ FTA applies to transactions within the State of Victoria whereas TPA applies to both interstate and international transactions. ➢ FTA is applicable to conditions where communication methods are used such as the use of post or telegraphic systems. The similarity between the conditions of both acts are that the acts apply to consumers who purchase goods or services worth less than $40000 and when the price is more than $40000, then the goods or services consumed should be used for personal, domestic or household purposes. Goods which are purchased for resale or goods used as inputs in the commercial production are not applicable under both acts.[7] Diagram 1 Therefore, if TPA is not applicable to a situation, FTA is used as a second weapon to protect consumers within the State of Victoria. • 4. Saint Emmanuel The Good Martyr Analysis In Lasallian schools the core principle of concern for the poor and social justice invites students and staff to be in solidarity with the poor and advocate for those suffering injustices. This means that people should have awareness of the poor and those who are victims of injustices and respond to their needs by means of community service and advocacy. This core principle is illustrated in the novella, Saint Emmanuel the Good, Martyr by Miguel de Unamuno. The main character, Don Emmanuel is the parson of the city of Valverde. The congregation of this parish look up to Don Emmanuel, admire him, and are overtaken by his words in mass. However, the narrator reveals that Don Emmanuel was not a man of faith. Metamorphosis by Kafka, presents a story of a young man who one day wakes up and is transformed into a bug. As a result of this transformation, he is mistreated by his family and considered useless in society. In the case of Saint Emmanuel the Good Martyr, there is a character that does not believe in God, yet practices concern for the poor and social justice on a daily basis. On the other hand, we have a character that yearns what Don Emmanuel gives to the citizens in Valverde, care and concern. Don Emmanuel is a living example of someone who follows the Lasallian core principle of concern for the poor and social justice. Although Don Emmanuel is a controversial character because he does not believe in God, I don t think this makes concern and care for others ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Sophist The Sophist, written by Plato in 360 B.C.E. attempts to search for definitions through deep philosophical searching. The persons of dialogue in this piece are Theodorus, Theaetetus, Socrates (who mainly serves as a silent authority), and an Eleatic Stranger, who leads the majority of the dialogue. As the dialogue commences, Socrates asks the stranger what is thought of sophists, statesman, and philosophers in his home country of Italy. However, Socrates does not simply ask the Stranger to define the three, he instead asks him how the three types of men are regarded in his country under one, two, or three names. As the men (Theaeteteus and the Stranger) debate the likes of the angler and the sophist they find that the definition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The art of the sophist, as described by Plato, is very complex and unique. His arts confuse both Theaecteteus and the Stranger because every time the men attempt to divide his characteristics they find themselves getting led down entirely different paths, unlike the monotonous angler. As they start discussing the sophist both men easily agree that he too is a hunter. However, as the Stranger points out, the sophist is a terrestrial hunter, one that is a hired hunter of young men of wealth (Plato). At the end of their first division, the men believe they have not only uncovered the sophists art [which] may be traced from the art of acquisition through exchange, trade, merchandise, to a merchandise of the soul which is concerned with speech and the knowledge of virtue (Plato), but also the definition of the thing itself. Yet, the Stranger is not content, he asks Theaecteteus to discover another branch of the sophist s genealogy. The Stranger asks to him to think into the sophist s hunts with more detail. This time, he asks Theaecteteus to think of the sophist as someone who is engaged in everyday commerce. Branching off from ideas similar to this, the stranger asks him to think about the sophist in a variety of different ways (five different times). Each time, the division ends up taking them down varying paths with far different endings. On the Strangers final attempt, he makes a new division of art, this time he divides the ... • 8. Other Relevant Explanations Of Vedic Astrology Other Relevant Explanations Vedic astrology further classifies human life span according planetary periods called Dashas, both Main (Maha) and Sub (Antar or Bukti) periods. Knowing a particular planetary Dasha helps us determine the quality of the time concerned, vis a vis the influence of the major transits of planets during that Dasha period. Currently you are subject to Shani (Saturn) Maha Dasa which began on June 2004 and goes on until June 2023. Prior to this, you were subject to Jupiter or Guru Maha Dasa for 16years from June 1988 until June 2004. The 16 years of Guru Dasa would have provided you with marriage, gains, financial assets, children and successful family life. During this period your overall position in life, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Further, Shani s malefic expression affecting marriage and spouse is because; in your horoscope Guru (Jupiter ) denotes spouse. And among significations in a family or relationship Ravi (Surya/Sun) denotes the official or socially recognized position for the male spouse. Now Shani is a bitter enemy of Surya (Sun). Hence, between 2004 and 2007 when transit Saturn (Gochara Shani) enters your 3rd house of communication he afflicts natal Guru who sits in your 3rd house. Now according to Jyotish classification natal Guru clearly denotes your spouse. Hence, by virtue of transit Shani s entry into your 3rd house from May 2004 and October 2006, he negatively conjuncts with natal Guru afflicting communication and martial harmony between you and your husband. Note: in the natural zodiac 3rd house denotes communication. And in the Vedic system of significations Guru(Jupiter) denotes spouse in a female s chart. Now in your horoscope 3rd house is also the sign of Cancer or Kataka. And Kataka is ruled by Chandra (Moon). And in Jyotish Moon denotes our mind. Therefore, without a shadow of doubt the entry of Gochara Shani upon the house of communication will inflict his poison upon the mind of the spouses; causing separation and affliction of marriage. Next between October 2006 and September 2009 Gochara Shani enters your 4th house denoting home, bonds of attachments and legal ties. Now your 4th house is the sign of ... • 9. Summary Of Paul Revere s Ride On the Historical Integrity of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow s Paul Revere s Ride In history, many feats are told time and time again and become more grandeur with each utterance, to the point where nearly all original meaning is long lost. As Doctor Manhattan said it in Watchmen, The illusion vanishes, almost before it has registered (Gibbons and Moore 26). For example, with Henry Wadsworth Longfellow s poem, Paul Revere s Ride, this certainly is the case. To suggest that the aforementioned poem is a work of historical non fiction is a suggestion that can be simply and eloquently discredited using real documents, the face value of the piece, and simple logic. To begin, Longfellow s poem simply is not a credible source of historical information, as there are real letters from the night of Paul Revere s ride that contain the true sequence of events. In a letter to Jeremy Belknap; for instance, Paul Revere summarizes his actions over the course of the night. In reality, Paul Revere s ride was slower paced and far more suspenseful. The poem makes no mention of the British officers that threaten to blow Revere s brains out (Gilder Lehrman). In the letter, there are many more comrades along on the journey, whereas the poem suggest that Revere was a lone rider, storming into each town to alert the people at full gallop. As a result, it is ridiculous to even pose the question of the historical integrity of Longfellow s poem when the first relevant source of information ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Pip Quotes In Great Expectations Despite any controversy over Dickens style, most agree that Great Expectations is his best book. The story, while set in the early part of the 1800s, was written in 1860 during the Victorian era that began with the crowning of Queen Victoria in 1837 and lasted until her death in 1901. Virtues emphasized at that time included integrity, respectability, a sense of public duty, and maintaining a close knit family. Phillip Pirip is nicknamed Pip, a word commonly used to describe the seed of an apple. From early childhood well into adulthood, Pip s budding maturity is the focus of the novel. In keeping with the Bildungsroman genre, Pip is at first an innocent young child whose place in this world hasn t been defined. He is an orphan whose only sister finds him a bother and a burden; she resents him to the point of cruelty. In true Bildungsroman fashion, the hero must become unsatisfied with his life and his place in society. The visits to Miss Havisham are the motivation for this discontent. Estella s disgust for everything common introduces Pip to shame and embarrassment over his family and his appearance. He becomes obsessed with uncommon ness and the want to overcome his position in order to impress Estella. The inheritance he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seems a writer can not create an original idea for a superhero without copying a trait or personality from some other popular superhero character. • 15. Hybrid Vs. Electric Cars Hybrid vs. Electric When hearing the words gas, hybrid and electric, people automatically think of automobiles.. [this is a very clunky opening rewrite it I think people do know those are the three main types of cars...] People buy hybrid or electric cars because they either want to save money on gas or they want to be able to help the environment with their vehicles. One of the most popular hybrid vehicles in the United States is the Toyota Prius, which, compared to a normal gas powered car, has great mileage and reduced fuel emissions. The popularity of the Tesla Model S a fully electrically powered car has recently skyrocketed due to the increase in gas prices. Hybrid technology powered cars, such as the Toyota Prius, are better for the environment than fully electric powered vehicles, such as Tesla s Model S, because of the emissions created by the electricity that powers the vehicle. The gas powered vehicle has been a problem for the environment since the day it was created. These vehicles emit greenhouse gasses that are detrimental towards the environment. Nearly one fifth of the United States total fuel emissions come from gas powered cars. In 2012 transportation contributed with 28% of total greenhouse emissions in the United States. One of the greenhouse gasses that cars emit is Carbon Dioxide. What greenhouse gases including Carbon Dioxide do is trap heat in the Earth s atmosphere leading to the atmospheric temperature rising. Free Trade Protectionism Essay quotas and regulations to restrict foreign trades and to discourage importation of certain goods into the country in order to protect and promote domestic markets. Protectionism is often seen as a hindrance to free trade because it isolates and hinders some foreign industries which are willing to compete against domestic industries (Shah, 2010). While Free trade can be described as when government put in place policies which allow overseas companies to freely trade or sell their products in our country (Shah, 2010). Free Trade Protectionism a. It paves way for cooperation. It protects domestic industries and their workers by imposing tariffs on competing foreign goods. b. It encourages transparency and healthy competition It makes the production prices high and leaves the consumers with less chance to makes choices in what they buy. c. It opens markets for developing countries and reduces consumers prices. It leads to jealousy and ill will. d. It lifts barriers to allow free flow of trade between two or more countries. Government uses protectionist economic policies to restrict imports and exports. e. It helps the economic growth of developing countries by increasing trade for the nation. Dulce Et Decorum Est Propaganda Dulce Et Decorum Est is an anti war poem, written by a soldier in the british army during World War 1, who ended up being one of the leading poets of the first world war. In his poem, Dulce Et Decorum Est , Wilfred Owen uses diction to evoke grotesque imagery that portrays the true horrors of the WWI battlefield in contrast to the blind patriotism promoted by propaganda. There is a great presence of juxtaposition used throughout the poem as a way to emphasise contrasts between war and propaganda and to touch on a greater idea of the contradicting issues presented by the battlefield. • 19. Comparison Of Thomas Malthus And Garret Hardin Cycle Of... Poverty is the discrepancy between the powers of reproduction and the ability to expand food production. People are poor because there are too many of them, and they keep having children in spite of their poverty. Poverty exists because of overpopulation. Providing relief to the poor will simply encourage them to have more children. Poverty is an economic issue, and eliminating poverty will not only benefit the individual, but will benefit the entire country. Both Thomas Malthus and Garret Hardin proved poverty is the fault of the individual and therefore it is their responsibility to eliminate it. Wealthy nations are not responsible for eliminating poverty among the poorer nations. To begin, poverty goes hand in hand with overpopulation. Poor people choose to continue to reproduce which ultimately leads to them continuing the cycle of poverty. The poor people are to blame for their poverty and it is their job to reduce population and eliminate poverty. Malthus proves that poverty will always be with us because of population increase. The population continues to increase geometrically while subsistence only increases arithmetically (Malthus 325). The poor people start having families at a young age and continue to reproduce. Essentially this leads to overpopulation, which in the long run leads to us occupying all of the land and running out. This makes it harder for people in poverty to find work because so many people are looking for jobs. Labor prices then cost less, but because of the lack of food the price for it goes up. This ultimately leads to the poor people having to work more and harder to make money. Two main options surfaced; either 1) to expand distribution into food stores or 2) to introduce a new line called Cambridge. MARKET OVERVIEW The men s toiletries market was divided into three groups based on pricing, namely, exclusive, medium and mass priced category. MEM had competed primarily in the medium priced market. Its principal toiletries were marketed under the English Leather line of which generated 68.3% of total sales revenue. Initial 5 forces conclusions seem to hinge on a lack of competitive advantage to launch Cambridge in the short run. RECOMMENDATIONS After a SWOT and 5 forces analysis, we would recommend that MEM: 1. Delay the initial launch of Cambridge and in the meantime do the following: 2. Divert energies and resources to expansion into food stores 3. Try to advance and maybe extend the product life cycle of Racquet Club and Musk to a more mature stage 4. Phase out ‘dogs – Lime, Windrift and Timberline based on BCG 5. Monitor the sales response for Blue Stratos, if negative, launch Cambridge. The most important reason for delaying Cambridge s launch would be to help MEM avoid direct competition with Shulton s Blue Stratos, since obviously; people never wear 2 types of colognes at once given that these 2 lines have the exact same target market. Hence, it would make sense to adopt a ‘wait and see strategy. Secondly, since MEM also has a strong opportunity to expand into food stores, we feel it would be a more effective use of resources and manpower in this expansion in the meantime rather than in Cambridge. This expansion into food stores could create greater brand awareness for the MEM name as well as its other lesser profitable lines besides English Leather. Furthermore, from our SWOT analysis, we believe the launch of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Data Warehouse Components And Architecture DATA WAREHOUSE COMPONENTS ARCHITECTURE Lecture Note # 02 The data in a data warehouse comes from operational systems of the organization as well as from other external sources. These are collectively referred to as source systems. The data extracted from source systems is stored in a area called data staging area, where the data is cleaned, transformed, combined, deduplicated to prepare the data for us in the data warehouse. The data staging area is generally a collection of machines where simple activities like sorting and sequential processing takes place. The data staging area does not provide any query or presentation services. As soon as a system provides query or presentation services, it is categorized as a presentation server. A presentation server is the target machine on which the data is loaded from the data staging area organized and stored for direct querying by end users, report writers and other applications. The three different kinds of systems that are required for a data warehouse are: 1. Source Systems 2. Data Staging Area 3. Presentation servers The data travels from source systems to presentation servers via the data staging area. The entire process is popularly known as ETL (extract, transform, and load) or ETT (extract, transform, and transfer). Oracle s ETL tool is called Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) and MS SQL Server s ETL tool is called Data Transformation Services (DTS). A typical architecture of a data warehouse is shown below: ... • 22. The New Developments Of Nuclear Reactor Technology And... Unquestionably, the energy security is of great importance in order to maintain and sustain the development of any growing economy. Therefore, this work will overview the new developments in nuclear reactor technology and their importance as a safe and base load energy alternative. Mainly, the focus will be on the Generation III (GIII), Generation IV (GIV) reactors and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and their safety and efficiency capabilities. A comparison will be held between the nuclear, solar and wind energy sources in terms of their reliability, safety, costs and infrastructural requirements. The energy industry faces various challenges such as the environmental consequences and climate change, limited fossil fuel resources and the instability in its prices. Therefore, a clean and reliable energy mix is required in order to meet these challenges. In order to meet these challenges, there is no one energy source that can be up to all the challenges simultaneously, therefore; an energy mix is required. Each energy source has certain advantages and suffers certain disadvantages for example while nuclear energy is a reliable source of base load energy, often, the safety aspect is considered the most important obstacle that prevents most countries from implementing nuclear power plants into their energy mix. However, recent developments in reactor technology might encourage reconsidering the nuclear energy as an important and relatively safe component in the energy mix. For ... • 23. A Primary Source Of The West Indies By Henry Nelson Coleridge The document I chose to analyze as a primary source is Six Months in The West Indies by Henry Nelson Coleridge. This is a small journal published in 1825 that follows Henry N. Coleridge s trips around the West Indies with his uncle, William Hart Coleridge who is a bishop of Barbados. While on his trip throughout the isles, Coleridge not only comments on the local governments and ecosystems but the treatment of slaves and the institution of slavery as well. His viewpoints are in no way abolitionist, but he does appear to have a vein of sympathy for slaves of the West Indies. Many of his viewpoints are on how society and slave owners in the West Indies could better the lives of their slaves, none of them abolition, but for instance he suggests that one of the most effectual ways for bettering the slaves would be thorough and humanizing education of the masters themselves (p.54). While this argument, I feel, is not uncommon of a well educated, English, relative of a high ranking religious official during this time period, I find it interesting to compare Coleridge s accounts of slavery throughout the West Indies with that of an actual slave, Mary Prince, in the same region. Mary Prince was a slave in the Caribbean, who was bought and sold to multiple owners, on multiple isles, eventually gaining her freedom in Britain in 1828. This secondary source, The History of Mary Prince, was transcribed by Suzanna Strickland and edited by the abolitionist who took her in, Thomas Pringle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Causes Of High School Dropouts Andrew Berry Mrs. Gallos English III 21 November 2017 Preventing High School Dropouts By the time you reach high school, everyone knows someone who has dropped out. It has become a common method of escape from whatever stresses school might be bringing upon a student. As time goes on, more and more students seem to be dropping out of high school or college, with one student dropping out approximately every 26 seconds. Most of them will not realize the long term effects until it s too late. Students have begun choosing the easy way out and struggling later in life, generally making thousands to hundreds of thousands less in their career. Though the dropout rate has fallen a few percent in the recent years according to ( High School Dropout Rates ), the issue is still prominent. Why do they do it and how can we prevent it? The first big reason for dropping out is the simple lack of interest or academic difficulty in school. They sit in class, doing anything but what they should be, waiting impatiently for the class to end. Or they are dreading going to the next class. Nearly 26 percent report boredom as a contributing cause ( Why Kids Drop Out ). Many drop out due to the thought of even more school caused by failing grades. The thought of even more time in a classroom proves to be too much and their motivation to quit. Others may have other interests that take over any interest in their academics. The second reason is problems outside of school. Be it family or housing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Physics Of Albert Einstein Robbie Patio BIO 101 Professor Dartley 4/16/15 Albert Einstein Most people know who Albert Einstein is and how great of a physicist he was, yet many aren t aware that Albert Einstein had not even finished high school! Most would think that a person who doesn t complete high school is dumb, and lazy. The fact is, Einstein did not complete high school, not because he was dumb or lazy. At the age of 15, he quit high school because he did not agree with the way the teachers taught. He thought that the teacher s weren t teaching in a way that didn t allow students to freely question or use their creative imagination. Einstein once said Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one. By this he shows that he isn t for seeing things the way they seem, and he tends to think deeper into things. He shows that he keeps his mind open, open to learn new things that can t be noticed by a simple glance. Many would also think that one who drops out of high school may not go anywhere in life. Einstein won a Nobel Prize in Physics, a Gold Medal of The Royal Astronomical Society, and many other awards. Even if Einstein never even finished high school, his creation of the equation E = mc2, theory of relativity, and theory of light led the way to him becoming known as the father of modern physics. • 27. Budgets Are Essential Business Practice Abstract: Budgets are essential business practice embedded in organizations since the 1920 s and are considered key drivers and evaluators of managerial performance and key elements for planning and control. Budgets are thought to be the most powerful tool for management control; they play essential roles in the organization s political structure as they are used often to increase the power and authority of top management and limit the autonomy of lower level managers. Despite its ambiguous benefits, traditional budgeting presents organizations with various challenges. In recent times critics of traditional budgeting have increased vastly. The basis of this criticism is that traditional budgeting is a relic of the past. It prevents reactions to change in the market, it cannot keep up with the challenges and requirements of today s business world and it isn t useful for neither business management nor stakeholders. In an attempt to eliminate criticism, researchers and practitioners in the field of management accountancy have developed more systematic concepts of budgeting which that better suits the needs of the modern business environment. Developments resulted in beyond budgeting, better budgeting, zero based budgeting, rolling forecasts and activity based budgeting as main alternatives to the traditional system. Reka et al. argue that beyond budgeting is the most effective alternative to traditional budgeting. This paper focuses on evaluating the usefulness of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Taking a Look at Flu H5N1 ################################################# Part 2 ################################### There are multiple different sources for epidemiological measures used for tracking and reporting the number of cases. There are websites where you can go to post confirmed cases in areas, where that information is then taken and calculated. There are also places that provide charts for the amount of confirmed outbreaks and then separates them from human cases and avian cases. But the best types of reports available are the map tracking ones. Where they give distinction marks for avian and human cases and all over the different areas of the world. This is very handy for seeing how bad and large an outbreak is and what species is affected, whether it is humans or birds. The incidence rate is a measure of morbidity and number of infected worldwide, looking over the past 10 years. Over the past ten years there have 650 infected.(Yu Chan, 2014). This is not a large number because of the fact it is not spread through human to human contact but through already infected poultry. The prevalence rate is the number of current/existing cases worldwide. The United States has yet to have a confirmed outbreak because we set such high regulations on the meat we sell in our markets, thus preventing a large outbreak from hitting our country. First, employees should possess the ability to correct or rebut inaccurate information. Second, that specific procedures should be introduced to increase the accuracy of performance information (such as performance diaries, comprehensive rater training, objective performance standards). Third, that procedural safeguards are present to discourage biased ratings (appeal processes, evaluating the rater on how well they administer the process). To fully operationalize these principles, a much greater voice and role for the employee is necessary. What are the preferred means for accomplishing these goals? Employee Voice Participation, goal setting and feedback are formal means for interjecting employee voice into the appraisal process.
