Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sterilization
V. Sterilization:
Sterilization is considered an optional permanent birth control method. Although both female and
male sterilization procedures can be reversed surgically, the surgery is technically more difficult than
the original procedure and may not be successful. regarding reverse of sterilization, success is noticed
to be better with tubal reanastomosis than with reanastomosis of the vas deferens. a Female
sterilization:
Around 1 million American female are sterilized either by surgery on the fallopian tubes or by
hysterectomy each year. Female sterilization counteracts fertilization by disrupting the fallopian tubes.
Sterilization may be achieved surgically in the postpartum phase with a small transverse infra
umbilical incision or throughout the interval phase. Sterilization during the interval phase can be
performed with laparoscopy, laparotomy, or colpotomy. The methods of fallopian tube sterilization
include occlusion with Falope rings, clips, or bands; segmental destruction with electrocoagulation; or
suture ligation with partial salpingectomy.
The up to date type of female permanent sterilization is the Essure system. This type of sterilization

Chaos In Lord Of The Flies Essay
The quote, Chaos is merely order waiting to be deciphered, by Jose Saramago, explains the
importance of keeping order in civilization. When order does not exist or is not enforced, civilization
begins to collapse or breaks down which, in turn, proceeds to ensue chaos. When Piggy discovers the
conch in the story, Lord of The Flies, by William Golding, he uses it to establish order on the island,
but when he dies order ceases to exist. The first line in the poem, In A Dark Time, is eerily similar to
the boys situation of order and civility on the island. When Piggy first observed the conch in the
beginning of the story he decided that they should use that conch to preserve order in the tribe. Piggy
explains to the group, We can use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Piggy s death the boys on the island could not be more divided. The boys had split into two
groups, Jack and his tribe and Ralph who is now alone due to Piggy s death. Dark, darker my light,
and darker my desire, (Stanza 3), as said by Roethke. The boys are only falling into deeper chaos on
the island, and are continuing to become more savage. Jack s desires, in particular, are becoming
darker because he proceeds to throw spears and hunt down Ralph after he had witnessed Piggy s
death. This is a great representation of how the boys are becoming more barbaric with the actions that
they are taking. At first the boys desires were to get rescued. However, now Jack is coming to the
realization that they will probably not be rescued and he wants to hunt down and kill Ralph. Jack starts
reinstating to the boys on the island that he is their leader. Piggy s death is the symbolization of the
breakdown of order and the beginning of disunity on the island. This breakdown of order is clearly
delineated in the book. Jack sees the chance to kill Ralph right after Piggy is killed because Ralph is
vulnerable, and alone against Jack and his tribe. Jack takes it upon himself to declare himself as the
leader, I m chief! (Page 181). Jack sees the opportunity to proclaim himself as leader of the boys after
Piggy dies and the conch is destroyed. Jack then proceeds to barrage Ralph with spears in an attempt
to kill him, Viciously, with full intention, he hurled the

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ellen Degeneres Katrina Class
Ellen DeGeneres once said that Life is like one big Mardi Gras. But instead of showing your boobs,
show people your brain, and if they like what they see, you ll have more beads than you know what to
do with and you ll be drunk, most of the time (DeGeneres). In the 2009 commencement speech to
University of Tulane s Katrina Class , she utilizes devices such as hyperbole, allusions, and rhetorical
questions to make the speech effective in achieving her purpose of inspiring her audience of
graduating students to be true to themselves by following their own path and passions and to realize
that one will have to overcome hurdles to reach one s idea of success. Even though DeGeneres uses a
variety of rhetorical devices, her speech mainly appeals to emotions through comedic anecdotes and
witty lines infused throughout the speech. This class was termed the Katrina Class for being the
survivors of one of the most devastating hurricanes to occur in history of the United States in 2005.
The University of Tulane in New Orleans, Louisiana is where most the damage and deaths occurred as
almost 80% of the city was flooded by the hurricane. DeGeneres alludes to the hardships the class
may have endured in a comedic manner by saying And now you know the right questions to ask ...

keep the overall tone from getting too serious as the occasion she is speaking at is a celebratory

Symbolism In Bless Me Ultima
Rudolfo Anaya s novel, Bless Me, Ultima, depicts the struggle of a young boy, Antonio, to find his
path in life. As he tries to understand events of his waking hours, his dreams haunt his
unconsciousness. Through the interpretation of the symbolism of Antonio s dreams, the reader
develops a deeper understanding of Antonio s struggles. Throughout the novel, Antonio is learning
that Ultima s owl is also his protector. Its song seemed to say that it had come to watch over us, (13).
The song, Ultima s owl sings throughout each night, symbolizes Ultima s comforting presence in
Antonio s life and the protective power of her magic. Also, like Ultima, the owl is like a healer to
Antonio, when it sings through the night. The owl had always been there. It sang to me the night my
brothers came home from the war, and in my dreams I sometimes saw it guiding their footsteps as
they stumbled through the dark streets of their distant cities, (272). Throughout the novel, the owl of
Ultima is not only Ultima s protector, but it is also Antonio s protector. Also, in Antonio s mind as
well, he could see it as a guiding spirit, because it provided a sense of hope and longing. All in all,
Antonio sees Ultima s owl as a protector and comforting presence throughout the novel.
The golden carp symbolizes the pagan religion which ties into christianity. At the river, Cico is talking
to Antonio and exclaims, When the gods had turned the people into carp, the one kind god who loved

Social Networking And Its Effects On Social Media
Megan E. Garner Professor Seward Information Literacy ITE 119 41 30 March 2016 Social
Networking Misfires With the development of advances in technology, communication through social
networking has risen immensely. Communicating is not only less complicated, it is also relatively
inexpensive. Many teens in relationships view social media as a place where they can feel more
connected with the daily events in there significant other s life, share emotional connections, and let
their significant other know they care (Lenhart, Anderson, and Smith). However, the ease of access to
social networking has allowed many adolescents to become overly involved. Networking has the
potential to influence adolescents both emotionally and physically which in turn may lead to negative
behaviors. An article from procon.org stated, The use of social networking sites is correlated with
personality and brain disorders, such as the inability to have in person conversations, a need for instant
gratification, ADHD, and self centered personalities, as well as addictive behaviors (ProCon.org).
Essentially, social networking has rising negative influences on teens because of increased cyber
bullying, lack of respect for personal privacy, and its addictive qualities. Among cell phone calls,
texting and social media sites, teens today have no problem interacting with each other virtually rather
than interacting with each other on a personal setting. One article states, Given that our brains are

Progressive Reform and Howe Essay

Question 3
Changing America
People face change in many ways. Some embrace it, some run from it, and some don t even notice it.
Change surrounds us every moment of every day; change is constant. Change is one of the words the
words that can be used to describe America as it moved into the twentieth century; change was
everywhere as the nineteenth century gave way to the roaring twentieth. This change however was
radical as the people off this time witnessed a world which they had once known and cherished vanish
before their eyes only to be replaced by big business, corrupt politics, and horrid working conditions.
In response to all this many citizens decided that they too would make ... Show more content on

People saw this and realized that there was a need for change, the people who saw the need for change
and went after it are known as progressives for they wanted to progress their nation by addressing the
problems that it was faced with.
Though the people of the progressive and reform era are labeled as progressives, the fact that they
share a name does not mean that all their ideals were the same as well. Progressives were divided
mainly into two camps and from those into even smaller ones. There were the progressives who
wanted to go back to the good old days, those who wanted to preserve the way of life that was slipping
through their fingers, and then there were those who wanted to address the changes by making
changes. Some progressives felt that it was necessary to preserve the way of life that was fast
disappearing in America. On the other hand some progressives felt that the government needed to be
run differently because of all of the changes in public and private sector. Either way, change was part
of the equation. The progressive era was composed of many people, each possessing one, two, or
more of the many ideals that helped define the progressive era. It can be said however, that most
progressive reformers were upper middle to upper class people for whereas the poor certainly saw the
problems and recognized the need to solve them, there were not in a position where they could. Those
who made up the progressive front were educated

The Gift Of The Magi
The Gift of The Magi
The short story (The Gift of The Magi) was written by O. Henry. O Henry full name William Sydney
porter, he wrote many short stories and one of his best known stories is (The Gift of The Magi). The
story is about a woman named Della who saves up for to buy her husband Jim to buy him a Christmas
gift. She saves up and on Christmas day she has one dollar and eighty seven cents to buy Jim a gift.
she sells her hair and gets 20 dollars for it and buys Jim a gold watch chain for his nice gold watch he
owns that has been passed down from generation to generation. Jim sold his watch to get Della the
chair combs she loved. In the end the all loved one another and didn t care about the gifts. In the story
(The Gift of The Magi) one literary theme is imagery they use biblical, visual, and tactile imagery. In
the story (The Gift of the Magi) there is three times when Biblical imagery is used. If a queen had
lived in the rooms near theirs, Della would have washed and dried her hair where the queen could see
it. Della knew her hair was more beautiful than any queen s jewels and gifts. (Henry 2). This is a line
from the story is saying that the Queen Sheba would be jealous of Della s hair. Queen Sheba is a
queen from the Bible. if I king had lived in the same house with all his riches, Jim would have looked
at his watch every time they met. Jim knew that no king had anything so valuable. (henry 3 4). Again,
here (The Gift of The Magi) this shows that Biblical

Common Carotid Atherosclerosis Model
We sum up that the IPB 1+CO diet could induce similar characteristic in body measurement and
plasma lipid profiles with western atherogenic diet and suggested that responsiveness could be a good
sign to choose the individual monkeys as an atherosclerosis model with any atherogenic diet, included
IPB 1+CO. If there was no increase of TPC at the first 3 months of feeding, the monkeys might not
produce a hypercholesterolemia, although for long term feeding, and might not form the plaques in the
arteries.
4.2. Ultrasound scanning
Imaging of arteries will become increasingly useful, justified, and available to determine
atherosclerosis condition [14] (Ibanez 2009). The goal of imaging is similar to that for examination of
plaque by pathological techniques. In clinical trials, the measurement of atherosclerosis most

The IMT of common carotid artery was usually measured because of its easier accessibility and
perpendicular location to the ultrasound beam, whereas carotid atherosclerosis predominantly occurs
earliest downstream in the bulb (and often only in the bulb), which may not be as easily visible with B
mode ultrasound [34] (Finn et al. 2010). The standard value of common carotid IMT that indicate the
presence of atherosclerotic plaque in animal model M. fascicularis have not been mentioned before.
From all the parameters (size, shape, echogenicity and homogeneity changes), we determined that
plaque in cynomolgus in this study was presented at the IMT at least 0,3 mm. In human, normal
common carotid IMT has been established arbitrarily as approximately 0.05 to 0.11 cm; thus, values
0.11 cm are considered to indicate the presence of an atherosclerotic plaque and its correlates linearly
with the number of atherosclerotic risk factors like hyperlipidemia [35] (Baldassarre et al.

What Is Malfunctioning Transmission Flushed
A malfunctioning transmission can quickly cause your driving experience to take a turn for the worse.
Unfortunately, many car owners are relatively uninformed about the needs of their vehicle s
transmission, which may make it more likely that they experience a major malfunction. Having some
of the more common questions about transmissions answered will make you a more informed driver,
which will help you avoid the need for expensive repairs or the inconvenience of being stranded on
the side of the road. Why Would You Need Your Transmission Flushed? It is common for
transmissions to need to be flushed in order to help them avoid major malfunctions. As time
progresses, residue and debris can start to accumulate in your transmission fluid,

the things that I would like to work on in myself. When someone asks me a question, nine times out of
ten, I will say the answer and then add, ...but I am not 100% sure . I think that I leader needs to

brings to the table, and recognizing that you cannot complete all projects or fix all problems on your
own. She said leadership is about nurturing each individual s strengths while making sure your efforts
are cohesive and working toward the same goal. I liked her definition because I am the type of person
that wants to fix every problem. I am working on learning to accept that I cannot fix everything, but as
a leader, I can work with other people to accomplish whatever goal we set to the best of our

Peter Paul Rubens ( 1577-1640 )
Peter Paul Rubens (1577 1640) painted The Raising of the Cross in 1609 1610, when he was about the
age of the martyred Christ. Until 1794, this colossal work (central panel: 460 x 340 cm, side panels:
460 x 150 cm) was part of the high altar of the St. Walburgis Church, which was later demolished. The
painting was once taken away by the emperor when Napoleon ruled France. However, the painting
was returned to Antwerp in 1815, and it is located in the Our Lady s Cathedral since 1816.
The whirling strength, the impelling dynamism that characterize this masterpiece full of drama and
pathos are striking. Nevertheless the whole presentation appears coherent and balanced. The grunting,
pushing, pulling, and lifting from the men to raise the cross showed great strength, movement, and
endurance to perform the task that caused Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews to ask Almighty God to
forgive them due to lack of knowledge.
Brief Biographical
Peter Paul Rubens (June 28, 1577 May 30, 1640) was a prolific seventeenth century Flemish Baroque
painter, and a proponent of an exuberant Baroque style that emphasized movement, color, and
sensuality. (1) He is born in Siegen, Westphalia in Germany. He and his brother were sent to a Latin
school in Antwerp. Due to lack of money, Rubens mother withdrew him from school in 1590 and sent
him as a page to the Countess of Lalaing at the age of 13. She needed the extra money to pay a dowry
for his sister. Although his job was very prestigious,

Hobbes on Institutional Sovereignty
A right, or power, institutional sovereignty is said to have addresses protest against the sovereign.
Hobbes makes extremely clear that actions of the instituted sovereign are wholly protected. This
particularly lucid in the following: Thirdly, because the major part hath by consenting voices declared
a sovereign, he that dissented mu8st now consent with the rest . . . or else be justly destroyed by the
rest. For if he voluntarily entered into the congregation of them that were assembled, he sufficiently
declared thereby his will . . . to stand there to what the major part should ordain; and therefore, if he
refuse to stand thereto, or make protestation . . . he does contrary to the covenant, and therefore
unjustly . . . he must submit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also important to note that Hobbes brings to light the solvency, or legality, of both types of
sovereignty, as both are rooted in fear. That is to say, it is held that . . .all such covenants as proceed
from fear of death or violence [are] void, meaning neither sovereignty should maintain legitimacy.
However, Hobbes reconciles this by stating that it is after sovereignty is established that fear of death
or violence cannot oblige people to agree. (127) Furthermore, simple the presence of fear cannot
invalidate covenants, as commonwealths would be impossible to create. (127) Combined with the fact
that there exists choice in both institutional and acquisitioned sovereignty, there is support for the legal
groundings of both and they are consequently placed on equal footing for asserting their relative
claims of right. (128) With regard to the claims of right sovereignty through acquisition has, it shares
all of those demonstrated in institutional sovereignty. Hobbes lists these rights that are reflected in
sovereignty by acquisition:
But the rights and consequences of sovereignty are the same in both. His power cannot, without his
consent, be transferred to another; he cannot forfeit it; he cannot be accused by any of his subjects of
injury; he cannot be punished by them; he is judge of what is necessary for peace, and judge of
doctrines; he is sole legislator, and supreme judge of controversies, and of the

My Dreams
I grew up in a poor neighbourhood. The town my parents decided to raise my brothers and I wasn t a
place where you had the means to pursue your dreams. My parents were young and naive thinking that
they could raise a family at such a young age. Although we had a place to sleep and food to eat, we
were barely getting by. Coming home every day from selling snacks in front of the local school, my
brothers and I were greeted with my mother s smile but we could all tell the twinge of sadness hiding
itself behind her smile. Growing up in a poor neighbourhood, the kids around the block knew each
other very well; we could understand each other because of our situations. In some nights the
neighbourhood kids would gather around the abandoned house just around the corner from where I
lived. We would talk about our dreams of going away to the city and our unrealistic hopes of
becoming a millionaire overnight. We all knew that was impossible, but one can dream. I for the
longest time dreamt of becoming a teacher. When I was younger I knew it would only be a dream, it
would never become a reality. But as I grew up watching children who don t dream, or dismiss their
own desires , I knew I wanted to make something out of myself, to prove those that said I couldn t,
that I could. I wanted to make my dreams a reality. When I voiced these feelings to my family, my
father laughed at me. I sat there at our worn down dinner table and fiddled with my thumbs. Why s

Reflection Of The Brain
By far, the most interesting concept that I have ever come across in my life is the brain. The brain is a
an array of complexities involving lobes, such as the frontal and temporal, that have different
functions and control a different part of a human s life. I think that the more one digs deeper into the
way that the brain works, the more one begins to realize just how many things can go wrong in the
brain which can lead to a lifetime of devastation. Looking at the bigger picture, I think that I am more
than honored to work in any research project that involves anything remotely related to the
neuroscience because I am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge about the brain and
essentially the nervous system in general. To be specific, I am interested in how to handle any
dementia related diseases such as Alzheimer s or Parkinson s, since I think that these diseases along
with diseases such as Huntington s affects a lot of people nationwide, and focusing research on
neuroscience diseases in general will help and impact many individuals worldwide. Going into more
detail, I would like to research what kind of mechanisms or biotechnology we can use in order to alert
future patients of their future risk for these neuroscience diseases. For example, maybe the percentage
of the time they stay in REM sleep might help with the configuration of a formula that can be
generated into an app that tracks on sleeps states and combined with their genetic disposition, science
will be able to determine their risk for Alzheimer s and so on. In addition, I would like to seek a
research project that kind of nails down the diagnostic stage of Alzheimer s. Currently, there is
research out there that talk about the buildup of plaque but there also counter arguments that state how
80 years olds present with this plaque do not even show the slightest symptoms of dementia which
counters what modern medicine is saying about the plaques being linked to Alzheimer s. I think that if
we had a hard set on what the official diagnosis for Alzheimer s, Parkinson s, Huntington s, or any
neurological disease for that matter, it would be beneficial to the world at large. Diverting away from
neuroscience, I am also interested in the

Arguments Against Native American Mascots
Many people look at the Washington Redskins logo and see it just the same as any of the other NFL
teams logos. So, why take the time and money to change their brand for the very few amount of
people that think it s little offensive? In the past couple of years, a lot of people see many pro and
college sports teams differently because of their mascot or logo. Native Americans, whose culture
diminished ever since Europeans stepped onto the shores of the East, are used as branding for all
levels and divisions of athletics teams. A lot of people argue for both sides of the conflict, with one
side reasoning that the logos look racist and disrespect Native American culture, and the other side
reasoning that they honor Indians and there is not even an issue. However, a ton of people fighting for
the Indian mascot s removal do not know how Native Americans themselves truly feel about them.
Also, the general public probably does not know either that many schools actually work with specific
tribes to make sure that they respect their culture. The United States should not ban Native American
mascots because most Native Americans don t get insulted from sports teams logos and many teams
work with tribes to make sure that they don t disparage Indian customs and traditions. A major key
that people do not take into consideration when discussing the conflict of Indian mascots is the direct
opinions from Native Americans. National polls taken prove Native Americans do not mind team

Fiscal Control Boards And Its Effects On The Cities Under...
RESEARCH DESIGN
Model and hypothesis Fiscal control boards have different impacts on the cities under which they
function. My hypothesis is that the level of structural considerations such as citizen participation,
socioeconomic factors, and the legal framework taken into account in the board s policy making
procedures affect its level of effectiveness. These features of control boards are then used to analyze
Puerto Rico s case in terms of strengths and weaknesses in its potential success in addressing
structural problems in Puerto Rico s economy. In terms of comparing the cases, I will take three
variables: citizen input, consideration of legal structure, and socioeconomic factors when comparing
the policies that were passed and their outcomes. The data used will be provided by different official
documents and scholars analyzing cases of emergency financial measures and fiscal control boards
mentioned in the literature review. To test this relationship, I will perform a comparative case study of
Puerto Rico s fiscal control board with that of Washington D.C, and Detroit focusing on these aspects.
These examples allow me to investigate the factors involved in the policies introduced by the boards
under such different contexts. By choosing these cases, I am also able to control for factors that other
analysts consider imperative, such as the level of citizen input, socioeconomic conditions, and legal
structure. Regarding the level of citizen input, I will be examining the

range from 300 to 800 each winter, approximately 350 bighorn sheep, and various mule and deer
populations, along with small geese populations flying overhead. It is precisely this diversity that
makes the Rockies so appealing to tourists every year. In addition, there are 60 other species of

The Nature Of Love In Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 By William...
William Shakespeare is recognized for being one of greatest poets of all time. His works are still
popular to this day. Many of his works included extended metaphors and similes with rhetorical
language and were rooted in the nature of love. Two of his poems that are rather alike, but also very
contrastive are Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? and My mistresses eyes are nothing like the
sun. They both contain a core theme of love or anti love in some aspects. While these two poems are
built around the same type of subject, their interpretations come across in separate ways. In contrast to
Shakespeare s Sonnet 18 which is a serious love poem that contains imagery and metaphors,
Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 is more negative and humorous but contains imagery and similes. Overall,
both of these poems fulfill the same motive. They were written to praise women, but the two use
different methods for doing so. In Sonnet 18 , Shakespeare compares his lover with the negative
aspects of summer stating /Thou art more lovely and more temperate/ (2). On the other hand in Sonnet
130 , Shakespeare compares his mistress to the good qualities of acquisitive things to show how even
though she is not perfect, she is still important to him. He vows by heaven (13) that the feelings he has
for his mistress are as rare /As any she belied with false compare/ (14). The messages delivered by the
two poems are very unique. In Sonnet 18 , the woman being described is perfect and does

called Quimbara by Celia Cruz. Celia is one of the most popular Cuban singers of all times. She was
the most popular artist of the 20th century, and she is remembered as the Queen of Salsa. In my
opinion, is not easy to sing Celia s song. Celia had tone of voice that is very distinct. To my surprise,
this female vocalist sang that song flawlessly. She has a really strong voice, she didn t have to force
her voice to sing. It was like she was just speaking. The three vocalist will switch turns. The first one
to sing was the female playing the güiro, then the female playing the tambouring, then the male singer.
They kept rotating like that, but I found myself waiting for the female playing the tambouring to sing.

This song was sang by the male vocalist. This was my least favorite song of the night. This song is a
really fast passed song. I think it was the worst because he could not keep up with the beat of the song.
The reason I want to talk about it is because the güiro performance was amazing. The güiro she was
playing was the metallic one. It is a shame that my lack of music knowledge does not allow me to
explain it better. Her hand was all over the place. She played the güiro in this fast passed song like it

Dbq Cholera Scarlet Fever
An epidemic occurs when a disease spreads to more people in one area then usually happens. There
have been many epidemics in history that have had devastating effects. Two epidemics that occurred
right here in the United States were cholera and scarlet fever. From the 1830 s to the 1860 s, cholera
spread throughout the United States killing many people. And in the late 1850 s scarlet fever spread
throughout the New England area of the United States. For both of these terrible diseases it is not clear
what stopped their rapid spread. Today there is a vaccine for cholera but not for scarlet fever.
However, there are ways to protect yourself from catching these diseases. New and stronger illnesses
seem to be happening all the time and are in the news. However, we still need to be aware of these
diseases from the past so we can keep ourselves healthy. Between the 1830 s to 1860 s, cholera spread
into the United States from India by trade routes. Cholera is an acute diarrhoeal infection caused by
drinking or eating material that is infected with Vibrio cholerae. Cholera causes watery diarrhoea, but

Scarlet fever is a bacteria infection. The symptoms are a red rash on the body, fever, and a sore throat.
It is an interesting fact that the same bacteria that causes strep throat causes scarlet fever. And I m sure
we ve all had strep throat at some time! But in the past, scarlet fever killed mostly young children,
nearly 95%, because children don t have a strong immune system that is able to fight back against
such a strong disease. There is no vaccine for scarlet fever but there are antibiotics to treat it. Also,
improved hygiene such as washing hands frequently, and also better health care has stopped the
disease from spreading and killing as it once did. However, many poor developing countries still
struggle with with deadly

The 35 Year Reversion Clause
As 2013 began, artists and songwriters of classic music gained the ability to terminate transfer of
copyright ownership for their intellectual property. These so called legacy artists include Tom Petty,
Bryan, Adams, Bob Dylan, and countless others whose music still have a profound impact on the
industry. In fact, catalog sales of legacy artists were reported by music industry officials as comprising
49% of album sales and 55% of single sales as recently as 2012. This means that billions of dollars are
on the line for record labels, music publishers, and musicians.
Background
Once an author independently creates a work, copyright ownership is immediately ... Show more

Transfer of copyright is referred to in section 101 of the Copyright Act of 1976 as an assignment,
mortgage, exclusive license, or any other conveyance, alienation, or hypothecation of a copyright or of
any of the exclusive rights comprised in a copyright, whether or not it is limited in time or place of
effect but not including a non exclusive license. Songwriters will give away ownership to the
copyright of their compositions to music publishers while recording artists will grant copyright
ownership of their records to their respective labels enabling the companies to receive a larger stream
of royalties. The size of this stream depends on the deal signed.
Royalties for sound recordings are paid out on a purely contractual basis. There is no statutory rate for
sound recording royalties like there is for song royalties. However, the artist negotiates a percentage of
the profits from the sale of mechanical sound recordings. This usually numbers around 8% 25% of the
suggested retail pricing for the album or song depending on the quality of the recordings and the
stature of the artist. More established artists are able to negotiate into the high spectrum because there
is less risk involved for the record label.
Royalties for songs are paid out 50% to the writer and 50% to the copyright holder. For music
publishing companies, there are three main types of deals that an artist can enter

The Importance Of Advertisement And Advertising
Advertisement and branding
Advertisement and branding are one of the marketing strategies most companies use to sell their
products to the world. Branding creates an image and a message that is passed to the consumers in
order to appeal to them and also enable them to remember the products. Therefore, advertisement is a
means of ensuring that the brand is conveyed to the consumers directly. Advertising is done through
various channels including social media, televisions, magazines, newspapers and currently, most
organizations prefer doing their advertisements through the internet: most potential consumers are met
online due to this technology era. This paper is a memo, targeting the staff members of a company.
The company is running an advertisement campaign for their new brand and therefore this memo is
entirely based on advertisement and branding, explaining to the staff why they should understand the
importance of this campaign, why advertisement is important in brand development and suggestions
of how the staff can help to develop the organization s brand.
Brand marketing campaigns need proper and adequate research for them to be successful. They should
be well thought out, with much focus and emphasis directed to the brand details and execution, rather
than focusing only on the brand ideas (Balmer et al., 2017). Therefore planning advertisement
campaigns begin by ensuring that the employees understand the brand, the campaign details and their
role in the development of

Transatlantic Airlines report Essay
Executive summary
We have analyzed the existing booking policy of TransAtlantic Airlines and identified potential cost
saving.
The implementation of the suggested new booking policy would lead to reduction of total expected
costs per flight on average by £8,100.
Furthermore, the new policy would increase the predictability of total costs per flight. With 90%
confidence new costs will be in a range £750 and £4,800 as compared to the current range of £1,900 to
£20,300. The comparative description of the policies is presented in table 1.
Analysis of existing policy quick fix

The foundation of current policy is based on the analysis in table 1. We observe that the total costs for
both classes are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Quick look at the summary table helps us identify that the proposed quick fix is the least value
destructing policy out of three policies. It has the lowest mean of total costs, the lowest probability of
exceeding £10,000 as well as the narrowest range of the cost.
To be more assured, we have additionally conducted probability dominance analysis (figure 2), which
tells that both current and quick fix policy have deterministic dominance (always better) then no
overbooking policy (green line). Whereas the quick fix (blue line) has stochastic dominance over
currently employed policy (red line). The outcome of current policy maybe occasionally better than
our proposed solution, but in the majority of cases the quick fix policy will be better.

Policy optimization
In order to identify the optimal booking policy we have conducted simulation with 40 different
booking levels for business and economy. As these two variables are independent, we have conducted
consequential analysis. Results for business class level booking are in (figure 3). The detailed
information about tested values is in Appendix B.
Figure 3 Optimal booking policy
We have observed that the lowest expected value of total costs is achieved at 427 and 133 accepted
reservations for economy and business respectively. The comparison of current policy against new
policy can be found in table

Examples Of Kindness In Black Beauty
The book Black Beauty by Anna Sewell tells the story of a horse named Black Beauty by a few of his
owners. He grows up with good owners: a farmer, then the Birtwicks, but then gets changed into the
hands of owners who are more cruel, who get worse as time goes on. He then finds a good owner in
Jerry Barker, who treats him well yet must work him hard as a cab horse. Eventually, Jerry has to sell
him, where he finds the worst of his owners, until being bought and recovered, then finally sold to
people who knew him as Black Beauty, and determined to never sell him. The theme of kindness runs
through the entire book. Kindness is when someone thinks about the feelings of everyone else (not
discriminating between looks, actions, or social status), and makes a conscious, continuous, and
wholehearted effort to treat them well. Kindness is when people treat everyone with respect. In Black
Beauty, the creatures who are shown as good ones are kind to cruel and kind people alike. On page 8,
Black Beauty s mother told him not to say that it served a man right to die when he was hunting and
injured his horse (her other son), showing that she was kind to everyone, even those who were mean
to someone close to her. Some people would think it was okay, as long as they didn t insult them to
their face, but Black Beauty s mother shows how kind she is by not doing that. Since she also doesn t
reprimand the other colts for saying those things, she is kind to them as well, even though they are

Young Goodman Brown: Losing Faith in Humanity from the Art of Deception
Since the beginning of time, there has always been day and night, evil and light. Throughout history,
the basis of good versus evil has emanated. Good and evil has etched its place in every culture
whether taught through passed down stories, depictions written on tablets, stones, or parchment paper.
In the story, Young Goodman Brown, Hawthorne reveals the traveler as a figure that highlights one
goal. Emphasis is placed on the traveler s methodology as he employ s several techniques to
manipulate and deceive the vulnerabilities of Goodman Brown. Hawthorne carefully stresses the
traveler s demeanor, features, setting and communication methods in detail. What is Hawthorne trying
to say about the intricate interaction between Goodman Brown and the traveler?
The traveler patiently awaits Young Goodman Brown as he always has, because the traveler is not
governed by the same limitations as man. The traveler, being demonic, has a purposeful goal in mind:
to kill, steal, and destroy while praying on Goodman Brown s vulnerabilities to achieve his hidden
agenda. The traveler s skill in persuasion is hard to overcome as he comes across as normal, trustful
and believable. Young Goodman Brown approaches with hesitation in the darkness as he seems
haunted and reluctant making his way through the woods. Purposefully, The Traveler is cunning and is

First Date Horror Stories Analysis
5 first date horror stories
( removed HTML )
First dates are uncomfortable for everyone. You spend forever doing your makeup and assembling the
perfect outfit, all while being one giant ball of anxiety. During the date, you re worried that he or she
doesn t like you, you re talking about yourself too much, or you experience the dreaded awkward
silence. Basically, the entire ordeal is chaos.
Just be thankful none of your first dates have turned into these horror stories.
1. Parental tag along
As if first dates aren t awkward enough, imagine if your date brought an unexpected guest, and that
unexpected guest was your date s dad. Unfortunately, this was a reality for one girl s blind date. We

We ve all been there. You go out on a date with someone you discover that you just can t stand.
Whether the date is overly sexual or a good ol narcissist, there s nothing worse than suffering through
dinner with a person who has a genuinely horrible personality.
The worst is when your date then tries and makes a move, and you re sitting there thinking Wait, did
he/she actually think that went well?

3. Unknowingly becoming the other woman
Going out on a date, you never expect the person you re seeing to be previously engaged. One woman
had the most embarrassing night of her life when her date s wife showed up at the restaurant to make a
scene. Can you say awkward?
4. Gross eaters
There is no worse sound than someone chewing with his or her mouth open. Going on a date with
someone who doesn t possess basic table manners is our definition of hell. Unfortunately, too many
people have been forced to engage with other people for the first time under these circumstances.
Yuck!

Private Peaceful Comparative Essay
The novel Private Peaceful and the short story The Best Christmas Present in the World are both by
Michael Morpurgo, however the author is not the only thing that connects the two. When looking at
these stories you realise just how similar they are, mainly the characters, plot and many of the themes.
However, these stories are also very different, and the main characters face challenges that are
different to each other yet hold just as much importance. Tommo, our narrator in Private Peaceful,
faces difficult times when he is forced to leave his loved ones to fight for his country in the First
World War. Jim Macpherson is the protagonist in The Best Christmas Present in the World and also

When looking at the latter, it does seem like Connie and Jim almost reflect Molly and Charlie in their
loss and relationship with each other. However it does seem, at a glance at least, that Private Peaceful
is the sadder of the pair. When looking deeper though, and thinking about Molly, you do realise that,
yes, she does loose her love but at least she has a support network. Connie however, didn t have any of
that and therefore never fully got over the loss of her husband, as it seems that he was her foundation
and when he left she is, as it says in the book is a bit confused and She has no family you know. No
one visits . It is clear that these stories are tales of love, loss and sorrow and hold many emotions
between their pages. They teach us of the way life was in the war, how terrible the danger was in
Private Peaceful but also how incredible the peace felt in The Best Christmas Present in the World ,
even if for only a day. They do have their differences but still give us the message of hope and to
treasure what we have, as we may not have it for much longer. They have varied plots, themes and
characters but are overall very close in many aspects, such as the sacrifices they had to

Drugs And Performance Enhancing Drugs
In today s sports world, performance enhancing drugs have become more and more of a problem.
Famous athletes with prestigious accomplishments do not always play by the rules. Celebrities with
countless amounts of fans and admirers turn out to be nothing but a cheater. These athletes earn
millions of dollars to simply perform, entertain, and follow the rules of their respected sport.
Unfortunately, performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) have changed the way people look at athletes
and their legacies. The practice of unethical crimes in sports dates back much farther than recent dates.
According to Georgios A. Antonopoulos (2013, Pg.1), the first documented case of match fixing or
PEDs, occurred in 338 BC when Eupolos of Thessaly persuaded three of his boxers to cheat in attempt
to win a gold medal at the Olympic Games. Antonopoulos (2013, Pg.1) also states that athletes from
the Ancient Greece consumed assorted amounts of wine, brandy, hallucinogenic mushrooms, and
sesame seeds to increase their performance levels. Even gladiators that competed in Rome s
Colosseum and knights of the medieval era used various undefined stimulants in order to enhance
stamina and overcome injuries. Clearly the professional athletes of today s society did not start this
trend. The greats that shaped this world two thousand years ago have transformed their body s
potential through the use of drugs before officials even classified drugs as a threat. Granted, times
have changed and the use for these

Essay on Generation Gap
Essay on Generation Gap
How many times have you felt that your parents don t understand you, that they have no respect for
you as an individual? How often do you shake your head in frustration and blame it on the generation
gap ? Parents! They are like aliens from another planet altogether! You and they are in different
camps; strangers forced to live under the same roof Right? Wrong! There is a way of bridging what
appears to be a yawning chasm. If you genuinely want to improve your relationship with your parents

Generation gap means difference in attitude, or lack of understanding between younger and older
generation. This generation gap has always been there but these days it has reached to an explosive
stage. The values and patterns of life have changed to a great extent. Today, everybody likes to live
and behave in his own way. This attitude has widened the generation gap, which can never be filled. It
is now destroying family life completely. The elders look after the children and make all sorts of
sacrifices to bring them up. Naturally, they feel they have a right over them. They want their children
to follow their instructions as they have certain expectations from them. But the children, when they
grow up, want a complete freedom in their thoughts and actions and unfortunately their thoughts and
actions are just opposite to those expected by the elders. They revolt when any kind of restrictions are
imposed on them. Consequently, the family breaks up and everything gets ruined.
In India, we are yet in the initial stages, but the gap has appeared and it is going to grow bigger day by
day. So it is not only the responsibility of the younger but also of the elders to fill this gap with their
love, affection and trust. The

Although both female and male sterilization procedures can be reversed surgically, the surgery is technically more difficult than the original procedure and may not be successful. regarding reverse of sterilization, success is noticed to be better with tubal reanastomosis than with reanastomosis of the vas deferens. a Female sterilization: Around 1 million American female are sterilized either by surgery on the fallopian tubes or by hysterectomy each year. Female sterilization counteracts fertilization by disrupting the fallopian tubes. Sterilization may be achieved surgically in the postpartum phase with a small transverse infra umbilical incision or throughout the interval phase. Sterilization during the interval phase can be performed with laparoscopy, laparotomy, or colpotomy. The methods of fallopian tube sterilization include occlusion with Falope rings, clips, or bands; segmental destruction with electrocoagulation; or suture ligation with partial salpingectomy. • 3. Chaos In Lord Of The Flies Essay The quote, Chaos is merely order waiting to be deciphered, by Jose Saramago, explains the importance of keeping order in civilization. When order does not exist or is not enforced, civilization begins to collapse or breaks down which, in turn, proceeds to ensue chaos. When Piggy discovers the conch in the story, Lord of The Flies, by William Golding, he uses it to establish order on the island, but when he dies order ceases to exist. The first line in the poem, In A Dark Time, is eerily similar to the boys situation of order and civility on the island. When Piggy first observed the conch in the beginning of the story he decided that they should use that conch to preserve order in the tribe. Piggy explains to the group, We can use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Piggy s death the boys on the island could not be more divided. The boys had split into two groups, Jack and his tribe and Ralph who is now alone due to Piggy s death. Dark, darker my light, and darker my desire, (Stanza 3), as said by Roethke. The boys are only falling into deeper chaos on the island, and are continuing to become more savage. Jack s desires, in particular, are becoming darker because he proceeds to throw spears and hunt down Ralph after he had witnessed Piggy s death. This is a great representation of how the boys are becoming more barbaric with the actions that they are taking. At first the boys desires were to get rescued. However, now Jack is coming to the realization that they will probably not be rescued and he wants to hunt down and kill Ralph. Jack starts reinstating to the boys on the island that he is their leader. Piggy s death is the symbolization of the breakdown of order and the beginning of disunity on the island. This breakdown of order is clearly delineated in the book. Jack sees the chance to kill Ralph right after Piggy is killed because Ralph is vulnerable, and alone against Jack and his tribe. Jack takes it upon himself to declare himself as the leader, I m chief! (Page 181). Jack sees the opportunity to proclaim himself as leader of the boys after Piggy dies and the conch is destroyed. Jack then proceeds to barrage Ralph with spears in an attempt to kill him, Viciously, with full intention, he hurled the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But instead of showing your boobs, show people your brain, and if they like what they see, you ll have more beads than you know what to do with and you ll be drunk, most of the time (DeGeneres). In the 2009 commencement speech to University of Tulane s Katrina Class , she utilizes devices such as hyperbole, allusions, and rhetorical questions to make the speech effective in achieving her purpose of inspiring her audience of graduating students to be true to themselves by following their own path and passions and to realize that one will have to overcome hurdles to reach one s idea of success. Even though DeGeneres uses a variety of rhetorical devices, her speech mainly appeals to emotions through comedic anecdotes and witty lines infused throughout the speech. This class was termed the Katrina Class for being the survivors of one of the most devastating hurricanes to occur in history of the United States in 2005. The University of Tulane in New Orleans, Louisiana is where most the damage and deaths occurred as almost 80% of the city was flooded by the hurricane. She alludes to a famous song by the Pussycat Dolls called When I Grow Up (2009) and all the speculation about whether the lyric was boobies or groupies. • 5. Symbolism In Bless Me Ultima Rudolfo Anaya s novel, Bless Me, Ultima, depicts the struggle of a young boy, Antonio, to find his path in life. As he tries to understand events of his waking hours, his dreams haunt his unconsciousness. Through the interpretation of the symbolism of Antonio s dreams, the reader develops a deeper understanding of Antonio s struggles. Throughout the novel, Antonio is learning that Ultima s owl is also his protector. Its song seemed to say that it had come to watch over us, (13). The song, Ultima s owl sings throughout each night, symbolizes Ultima s comforting presence in Antonio s life and the protective power of her magic. Also, like Ultima, the owl is like a healer to Antonio, when it sings through the night. The owl had always been there. It sang to me the night my brothers came home from the war, and in my dreams I sometimes saw it guiding their footsteps as they stumbled through the dark streets of their distant cities, (272). Throughout the novel, the owl of Ultima is not only Ultima s protector, but it is also Antonio s protector. Also, in Antonio s mind as well, he could see it as a guiding spirit, because it provided a sense of hope and longing. All in all, Antonio sees Ultima s owl as a protector and comforting presence throughout the novel. The golden carp symbolizes the pagan religion which ties into christianity. At the river, Cico is talking to Antonio and exclaims, When the gods had turned the people into carp, the one kind god who loved the people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Social Networking And Its Effects On Social Media Megan E. Garner Professor Seward Information Literacy ITE 119 41 30 March 2016 Social Networking Misfires With the development of advances in technology, communication through social networking has risen immensely. Communicating is not only less complicated, it is also relatively inexpensive. Many teens in relationships view social media as a place where they can feel more connected with the daily events in there significant other s life, share emotional connections, and let their significant other know they care (Lenhart, Anderson, and Smith). However, the ease of access to social networking has allowed many adolescents to become overly involved. Networking has the potential to influence adolescents both emotionally and physically which in turn may lead to negative behaviors. An article from procon.org stated, The use of social networking sites is correlated with personality and brain disorders, such as the inability to have in person conversations, a need for instant gratification, ADHD, and self centered personalities, as well as addictive behaviors (ProCon.org). Essentially, social networking has rising negative influences on teens because of increased cyber bullying, lack of respect for personal privacy, and its addictive qualities. Among cell phone calls, texting and social media sites, teens today have no problem interacting with each other virtually rather than interacting with each other on a personal setting. Change surrounds us every moment of every day; change is constant. Change is one of the words the words that can be used to describe America as it moved into the twentieth century; change was everywhere as the nineteenth century gave way to the roaring twentieth. People saw this and realized that there was a need for change, the people who saw the need for change and went after it are known as progressives for they wanted to progress their nation by addressing the problems that it was faced with. Though the people of the progressive and reform era are labeled as progressives, the fact that they share a name does not mean that all their ideals were the same as well. Progressives were divided mainly into two camps and from those into even smaller ones. There were the progressives who wanted to go back to the good old days, those who wanted to preserve the way of life that was slipping through their fingers, and then there were those who wanted to address the changes by making changes. Some progressives felt that it was necessary to preserve the way of life that was fast disappearing in America. On the other hand some progressives felt that the government needed to be run differently because of all of the changes in public and private sector. Either way, change was part of the equation. The progressive era was composed of many people, each possessing one, two, or more of the many ideals that helped define the progressive era. It can be said however, that most progressive reformers were upper middle to upper class people for whereas the poor certainly saw the problems and recognized the need to solve them, there were not in a position where they could. O Henry full name William Sydney porter, he wrote many short stories and one of his best known stories is (The Gift of The Magi). The story is about a woman named Della who saves up for to buy her husband Jim to buy him a Christmas gift. Jim sold his watch to get Della the chair combs she loved. In the end the all loved one another and didn t care about the gifts. In the story (The Gift of The Magi) one literary theme is imagery they use biblical, visual, and tactile imagery. In the story (The Gift of the Magi) there is three times when Biblical imagery is used. If a queen had lived in the rooms near theirs, Della would have washed and dried her hair where the queen could see it. Della knew her hair was more beautiful than any queen s jewels and gifts. (Henry 2). This is a line from the story is saying that the Queen Sheba would be jealous of Della s hair. Queen Sheba is a queen from the Bible. if I king had lived in the same house with all his riches, Jim would have looked at his watch every time they met. • 13. Peter Paul Rubens ( 1577-1640 ) Peter Paul Rubens (1577 1640) painted The Raising of the Cross in 1609 1610, when he was about the age of the martyred Christ. Until 1794, this colossal work (central panel: 460 x 340 cm, side panels: 460 x 150 cm) was part of the high altar of the St. Walburgis Church, which was later demolished. The painting was once taken away by the emperor when Napoleon ruled France. However, the painting was returned to Antwerp in 1815, and it is located in the Our Lady s Cathedral since 1816. The whirling strength, the impelling dynamism that characterize this masterpiece full of drama and pathos are striking. Nevertheless the whole presentation appears coherent and balanced. The grunting, pushing, pulling, and lifting from the men to raise the cross showed great strength, movement, and endurance to perform the task that caused Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews to ask Almighty God to forgive them due to lack of knowledge. Brief Biographical Peter Paul Rubens (June 28, 1577 May 30, 1640) was a prolific seventeenth century Flemish Baroque painter, and a proponent of an exuberant Baroque style that emphasized movement, color, and sensuality. (1) He is born in Siegen, Westphalia in Germany. He and his brother were sent to a Latin school in Antwerp. For if he voluntarily entered into the congregation of them that were assembled, he sufficiently declared thereby his will . . . to stand there to what the major part should ordain; and therefore, if he refuse to stand thereto, or make protestation . . . he does contrary to the covenant, and therefore unjustly . . . he must submit ... That is to say, it is held that . . .all such covenants as proceed from fear of death or violence [are] void, meaning neither sovereignty should maintain legitimacy. However, Hobbes reconciles this by stating that it is after sovereignty is established that fear of death or violence cannot oblige people to agree. (127) Furthermore, simple the presence of fear cannot invalidate covenants, as commonwealths would be impossible to create. (127) Combined with the fact that there exists choice in both institutional and acquisitioned sovereignty, there is support for the legal groundings of both and they are consequently placed on equal footing for asserting their relative claims of right. (128) With regard to the claims of right sovereignty through acquisition has, it shares all of those demonstrated in institutional sovereignty. Hobbes lists these rights that are reflected in sovereignty by acquisition: But the rights and consequences of sovereignty are the same in both. His power cannot, without his consent, be transferred to another; he cannot forfeit it; he cannot be accused by any of his subjects of injury; he cannot be punished by them; he is judge of what is necessary for peace, and judge of doctrines; he is sole legislator, and supreme judge of controversies, and of the ... Coming home every day from selling snacks in front of the local school, my brothers and I were greeted with my mother s smile but we could all tell the twinge of sadness hiding itself behind her smile. Growing up in a poor neighbourhood, the kids around the block knew each other very well; we could understand each other because of our situations. In some nights the neighbourhood kids would gather around the abandoned house just around the corner from where I lived. We would talk about our dreams of going away to the city and our unrealistic hopes of becoming a millionaire overnight. We all knew that was impossible, but one can dream. • 16. Reflection Of The Brain By far, the most interesting concept that I have ever come across in my life is the brain. The brain is a an array of complexities involving lobes, such as the frontal and temporal, that have different functions and control a different part of a human s life. I think that the more one digs deeper into the way that the brain works, the more one begins to realize just how many things can go wrong in the brain which can lead to a lifetime of devastation. Looking at the bigger picture, I think that I am more than honored to work in any research project that involves anything remotely related to the neuroscience because I am always looking for ways to expand my knowledge about the brain and essentially the nervous system in general. To be specific, I am interested in how to handle any dementia related diseases such as Alzheimer s or Parkinson s, since I think that these diseases along with diseases such as Huntington s affects a lot of people nationwide, and focusing research on neuroscience diseases in general will help and impact many individuals worldwide. Going into more detail, I would like to research what kind of mechanisms or biotechnology we can use in order to alert future patients of their future risk for these neuroscience diseases. For example, maybe the percentage of the time they stay in REM sleep might help with the configuration of a formula that can be generated into an app that tracks on sleeps states and combined with their genetic disposition, science will be able to determine their risk for Alzheimer s and so on. In addition, I would like to seek a research project that kind of nails down the diagnostic stage of Alzheimer s. Currently, there is research out there that talk about the buildup of plaque but there also counter arguments that state how 80 years olds present with this plaque do not even show the slightest symptoms of dementia which counters what modern medicine is saying about the plaques being linked to Alzheimer s. • 17. Arguments Against Native American Mascots Many people look at the Washington Redskins logo and see it just the same as any of the other NFL teams logos. So, why take the time and money to change their brand for the very few amount of people that think it s little offensive? In the past couple of years, a lot of people see many pro and college sports teams differently because of their mascot or logo. Native Americans, whose culture diminished ever since Europeans stepped onto the shores of the East, are used as branding for all levels and divisions of athletics teams. A lot of people argue for both sides of the conflict, with one side reasoning that the logos look racist and disrespect Native American culture, and the other side reasoning that they honor Indians and there is not even an issue. However, a ton of people fighting for the Indian mascot s removal do not know how Native Americans themselves truly feel about them. Also, the general public probably does not know either that many schools actually work with specific tribes to make sure that they respect their culture. The United States should not ban Native American mascots because most Native Americans don t get insulted from sports teams logos and many teams work with tribes to make sure that they don t disparage Indian customs and traditions. A major key that people do not take into consideration when discussing the conflict of Indian mascots is the direct opinions from Native Americans. National polls taken prove Native Americans do not mind team logos ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Fiscal Control Boards And Its Effects On The Cities Under... RESEARCH DESIGN Model and hypothesis Fiscal control boards have different impacts on the cities under which they function. My hypothesis is that the level of structural considerations such as citizen participation, socioeconomic factors, and the legal framework taken into account in the board s policy making procedures affect its level of effectiveness. These features of control boards are then used to analyze Puerto Rico s case in terms of strengths and weaknesses in its potential success in addressing structural problems in Puerto Rico s economy. In terms of comparing the cases, I will take three variables: citizen input, consideration of legal structure, and socioeconomic factors when comparing the policies that were passed and their outcomes. The data used will be provided by different official documents and scholars analyzing cases of emergency financial measures and fiscal control boards mentioned in the literature review. To test this relationship, I will perform a comparative case study of Puerto Rico s fiscal control board with that of Washington D.C, and Detroit focusing on these aspects. These examples allow me to investigate the factors involved in the policies introduced by the boards under such different contexts. By choosing these cases, I am also able to control for factors that other analysts consider imperative, such as the level of citizen input, socioeconomic conditions, and legal structure. Regarding the level of citizen input, I will be examining the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. The Nature Of Love In Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 By William... William Shakespeare is recognized for being one of greatest poets of all time. His works are still popular to this day. Many of his works included extended metaphors and similes with rhetorical language and were rooted in the nature of love. Two of his poems that are rather alike, but also very contrastive are Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? and My mistresses eyes are nothing like the sun. They both contain a core theme of love or anti love in some aspects. While these two poems are built around the same type of subject, their interpretations come across in separate ways. In contrast to Shakespeare s Sonnet 18 which is a serious love poem that contains imagery and metaphors, Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 is more negative and humorous but contains imagery and similes. Overall, both of these poems fulfill the same motive. They were written to praise women, but the two use different methods for doing so. In Sonnet 18 , Shakespeare compares his lover with the negative aspects of summer stating /Thou art more lovely and more temperate/ (2). On the other hand in Sonnet 130 , Shakespeare compares his mistress to the good qualities of acquisitive things to show how even though she is not perfect, she is still important to him. He vows by heaven (13) that the feelings he has for his mistress are as rare /As any she belied with false compare/ (14). The messages delivered by the two poems are very unique. There have been many epidemics in history that have had devastating effects. Two epidemics that occurred right here in the United States were cholera and scarlet fever. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Transfer of copyright is referred to in section 101 of the Copyright Act of 1976 as an assignment, mortgage, exclusive license, or any other conveyance, alienation, or hypothecation of a copyright or of any of the exclusive rights comprised in a copyright, whether or not it is limited in time or place of effect but not including a non exclusive license. Songwriters will give away ownership to the copyright of their compositions to music publishers while recording artists will grant copyright ownership of their records to their respective labels enabling the companies to receive a larger stream of royalties. The size of this stream depends on the deal signed. Royalties for sound recordings are paid out on a purely contractual basis. There is no statutory rate for sound recording royalties like there is for song royalties. However, the artist negotiates a percentage of the profits from the sale of mechanical sound recordings. This usually numbers around 8% 25% of the suggested retail pricing for the album or song depending on the quality of the recordings and the stature of the artist. More established artists are able to negotiate into the high spectrum because there is less risk involved for the record label. The Importance Of Advertisement And Advertising Advertisement and branding Advertisement and branding are one of the marketing strategies most companies use to sell their products to the world. Branding creates an image and a message that is passed to the consumers in order to appeal to them and also enable them to remember the products. Therefore, advertisement is a means of ensuring that the brand is conveyed to the consumers directly. Advertising is done through various channels including social media, televisions, magazines, newspapers and currently, most organizations prefer doing their advertisements through the internet: most potential consumers are met online due to this technology era. This paper is a memo, targeting the staff members of a company. The company is running an advertisement campaign for their new brand and therefore this memo is entirely based on advertisement and branding, explaining to the staff why they should understand the importance of this campaign, why advertisement is important in brand development and suggestions of how the staff can help to develop the organization s brand. Brand marketing campaigns need proper and adequate research for them to be successful. They should be well thought out, with much focus and emphasis directed to the brand details and execution, rather than focusing only on the brand ideas (Balmer et al., 2017). It has the lowest mean of total costs, the lowest probability of exceeding £10,000 as well as the narrowest range of the cost. To be more assured, we have additionally conducted probability dominance analysis (figure 2), which tells that both current and quick fix policy have deterministic dominance (always better) then no overbooking policy (green line). Whereas the quick fix (blue line) has stochastic dominance over currently employed policy (red line). The outcome of current policy maybe occasionally better than our proposed solution, but in the majority of cases the quick fix policy will be better. He grows up with good owners: a farmer, then the Birtwicks, but then gets changed into the hands of owners who are more cruel, who get worse as time goes on. He then finds a good owner in Jerry Barker, who treats him well yet must work him hard as a cab horse. Eventually, Jerry has to sell him, where he finds the worst of his owners, until being bought and recovered, then finally sold to people who knew him as Black Beauty, and determined to never sell him. The theme of kindness runs through the entire book. Kindness is when someone thinks about the feelings of everyone else (not discriminating between looks, actions, or social status), and makes a conscious, continuous, and wholehearted effort to treat them well. Kindness is when people treat everyone with respect. In Black Beauty, the creatures who are shown as good ones are kind to cruel and kind people alike. On page 8, Black Beauty s mother told him not to say that it served a man right to die when he was hunting and injured his horse (her other son), showing that she was kind to everyone, even those who were mean to someone close to her. Some people would think it was okay, as long as they didn t insult them to their face, but Black Beauty s mother shows how kind she is by not doing that.
