How Does Photography Shape Society
Photography has shaped society in many ways. It doesn t just serve the purpose of entertainment and
enlightenment; it also makes society aware of issues and events the world faces on a daily basis. In
this case documentary photography has not just made people all over the globe aware of these issues;
it also enforces the power of persuasion upon some to make a difference in society. Photographs create
a sense of realism and truth. Words can explain and create a mental picture in the minds of readers or
listeners, but images and documentary photographs connect us better with individuals, nationally and
even internationally. These photographs have the power to show people the similarities of the human
conditions around the world.
The year 1968 in America was a year full of turmoil and political uprising. Thus it was the pivotal
year of the sixties, when all of the nation s actions and impulses towards violence, idealism, diversity
and inequality peaked to produce the greatest possible hope and at the same time the worst despair.
The rest of the world also watched USA and South Africa struggle in the war for peace and freedom. It
was a time of social and race inequality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Theme Of Memories In Toni Morrison s Beloved
In the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, memories are seen as powerful instruments which haunt the
characters throughout the narrative. During the institution of slavery, slaves were dehumanised and
treated subordinately. This novel asserts the fact that slaves were actually human beings, by exploring
the ways that they had to endure the disturbing and traumatic memories of it, and still find ways to
live. In the article Four Hundred Years of Silence: Myth, History and Motherhood in Toni Morrison s
Beloved , Sally Keenan explores the need to remember and to tell and the desire to forget, memories
with an inexhaustible and monstrous power to erupt and overwhelm the mind but which must
somehow be laid aside if life is to continue (48). By this Keenan means that the novel accentuates the
difficulty that the characters face in order to forget their painful memories, which at the same time
cannot be disremembered. The urge to forget is complicated as it becomes laden with the feelings of
pain, guilt, shame and fear, which eventually leads to an assumption that the traumatic memories
cannot be forgotten.
In the first section I will discuss the need to remember and to tell , and ... Show more content on

In this extract Beloved is gone due to the coming together of the community, and now there is a
possibility for life to carry on. The narrator says, They forgot her like a bad dream . A bad dream is
something frightful that only exists in someone s mind, therefore it is not real. Beloved however, is
real and the community tries to lay the memory of her aside by pretending that she never existed. The
reason for this is because although Beloved is Sethe s memory of her horrifying experience, she also
reminds them of their own personal experiences brought about by

Improving the Performance of Quality Improvement Teams Essay
Improving the Performance of Quality Improvement Teams
Introduction
Within every company there is a customer, regardless of what your line of business is it is being done
for the consumer albeit an external consumer or the internal consumer. The customer s needs and
expectations should be the driving force behind the decisions we make and the problems we
solve...the customer, not our own personal or monetary gain. As quality improves we have to make
sure that we are improving what matters to our customers not want we want to improve upon for own
sake. What is quality improvement? Why is it necessary? Who benefits from having a Quality
Improvement Team? What can we do to improve their performance? Quality improvement is a
structured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A key premise in quality improvement is that you cannot improve a process until you fully understand
it. When improvements in quality are achieved, teams should continue to strive for further
improvements with the same problem or maybe address the other opportunities that have been
identified.
Health care improvement and high quality care requires more then the technical approach of tools and
methods, improvements often require a change in attitude and sense of ownership for the quality of
serviced provided by an organization. Many supporting factors must integrate QI into the structure and
foundation of the company, these are also known as the building blocks. Improvement also implies
that it will be implemented in a variety of settings, circumstances and various levels within an
organization. The structure has to also define how the different parts and levels of the QI program fit
together and how they will be synchronized.
Characteristics of a Successful Team There have been many researches that studied the characteristics
of a successful team over a period, Belbin s work is one of the most widely known it investigated how
different people within a team adopt different teamwork roles. In order to be successful all quality
improvement teams must have the following characteristics:
Commitment and involvement the team should be able to understand the goals and should be
committed in achieving them

The Narrative Of The New Zealand
The narrative of the New Zealand feature film What We Do in the Shadows (2014) directed by
Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, follows the lives of three vampires, Viago, Deacon and Vladislav
as they struggle to try to cope with the complexities of modern life. Living in a flat in Wellington,
these modern day vampires are faced with the mundanities of everyday life, and things such as paying
rent, trying to get into nightclubs and overcoming flatmate conflicts prove to be extremely difficult.
What We Do in the Shadows is unique in that it combines parody and cinematography, while also
using a mixture of two genres, vampire and mockumentary, to comment on contemporary social
formations and to challenge traditional cultural myths. These elements of the film have been used to
ensure the portrayal of the horrific as mundane and ordinary. What We Do in the Shadows uses
aspects of the vampire genre to demonstrate the changes that the cinematic vampire has faced over the
years. As Kane states, both the demeanour and appearance of the cinematic vampire has changed
drastically since its introduction with Bela Lugosi in 1931 (1), which has resulted in the creation of the
modern day cinematic vampire that we see in What We Do in the Shadows. Throughout film history
three distinct periods of vampire narrative can be observed. Initially, the first cinematic vampires were
formally dressed and presented as the leading villains in films, the second type showed more human

Mood In Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing
Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy by Shakespeare about love and misunderstandings between
several characters. Claudio and Hero are in love but Claudio is led to believe that Hero has been
unfaithful while Beatrice and Benedick both love each other but will not admit it. Since the story is a
comedy that deals with serious issues such as infidelity and deceit, the mood shifts often between
positive and negative moods, as shown in my diagram. In the diagram, the closer the point is to the
top, the more positive the mood was during the scene and the closer the point is to the bottom, the
more negative the mood was. While some scenes only had positive moments, others had both positive
and negative. These scenes placement on the diagram reflects the average mood of the entire scene.
This means that while a scene could have had a very positive moment, it will be placed lower on the
diagram if the scene also contained a negative moment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Act I, scene 1 has a lighthearted happy mood throughout it, as does scene 2. The characters are all
happy about winning their battle and Claudio is in love. The characters in these scenes only have high
hopes for the future and do not express any negative thoughts that would affect the mood, which is
why these scenes are placed so high. Scene 2 is placed slightly lower than scene 1 because, while it is
completely positive, it does not express the joy and love that is in scene 1. Scene 3 of Act I is placed
extremely low on the diagram because it has a very negative mood caused by the introduction of Don
John, the villain of the play, who is the bitter brother of Don

Bandari Dance In Persian Culture
The Persian culture, one of the most prominent cultures in the world, has gone through many phases
throughout the history. Their largest empire in the history of the world, their extraordinary engineering
capabilities, and their inventions in arts and science are some of the most remarkable qualities that
have made what the Persian culture is today. Art of dance has been a part of this ancient culture for a
long time and it plays a significant role even until this day. There are countless different Persian
dancing styles such as the Baba Karam, Bandari and Choob Bazi. My research will be focused on
specifically Bandari dance. I ll be providing information on the history of this particular dance style
and how it plays a role in the art of dance of the Persian culture. Bandari dance is a very well known
dance in the Persian culture that and has been a part of it for a long time. Bandari dance is performed
alongside Bandari music. The term Bandari in Farsi means harbor or port, which is why this type of
dance and music stem from Southern Iran and around the Persian Gulf, where this type of dance is
also more common. Due to the exposure of this area to trade with the neighboring countries, this
dance has been influenced by the African and the Arab culture. Because I am personally from the
Capital of Iran, Tehran, this type of dance wasn t as common as other styles of dancing. Bandari was
mainly performed at special events such as weddings where I m from, whereas in the South

1.2 Explain factors that affect an organisations approach to talent planning: There are obviously
many different factors that affect an organistions approach to talent planning. External factors such
as the economic environment can have a massive effect in how an organisation resources and
retains talent. For example, in times of high unemployment it is far easier to attract high levels of
talent, as there are many unemployed suitable candidates in the job market. Similarly it is easier to
retain staff as they are less likely to leave due tot the difficulty of finding new suitable employment.
Political factors such as changes to minimum wage may also have an effect on talent planning, it may
be that an increase in minimum wage will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.2 Describe different selection methods ad identify when it is appropriate to use them. Curriculum
Vitaes CV s are useful for the first round of a selection process, it allows recruiters to view an
applicants overall work experience and education. Interviews This is often the second step in a
selection process, it is often used after a group of applicants have been short listed and allows the
recruiter or hiring manager an opportunity to ask further questions about an applicants experience and
get a feel for their personality, and fit into the organisation and role. Testing This is used to asses an
applicant s skill set for a specific role, for example a math based test could be used for an
accounting or finance role. 4.1 The purpose of an induction is essentially to introduce a new
employee to the organisation, and to help them become effective in their new role as quickly as
possible. Inductions often include new starters gaining an understanding of what is expected of them
in their role, their responsibilities, and the organisation s culture, this benefits the employee as they
have a greater understanding of their job and have an opportunity to ask any questions. The
organisation is benefited also as it allows them to make sure there is no misunderstanding at the very
beginning of the employees contract. A

The Adventures of Mr. West in th Land of the Bolsheviks
The Adventures of Mr. West in the Land of the Bolsheviks (1924) is a silent film comedy about an
American businessman s experience in Moscow, yet the historical significance of the film gives you
some idea of how the lower classes in Moscow in the 1920 s are living and how events that were
relatively recent , the famine of 1921, affected the film. Also the idea of class struggle that is portrayed
in the film between the characters and how their class is connected their actions. The amount of
symbols in the film are great from the U.S flag to the peasant thieves themselves as it is warning of
western/capitalist ideology. Although this film is about a gullible American it does not go into foreign
relations between the nations and does not portray the United States as evil . This film probably went
through censorship and was a propaganda tool for the masses, but it only targets a specific group, the
proletariat, within the Soviet Union and rejects another group, the peasants. The greatest purpose of
this film was to promote government competence and move blame for social problems to the peasants
with capitalist ideology.
The way that food is portrayed gives you insight into what is going on in the society. Only three years
after the famine of 1921 and the way food is highlighted in the film could be the governments way of
stating that there is plenty of food to eat or to accuse that the peasants, who most likely are NEP men,
are eating better than the average person in

Analysis Of Hardy s The Best Hope Ever Sown
In the third stanza, Hardy states: But not so. How arrives it joy lies slain / And why unblooms the best
hope ever sown? Immediately in this stanza, he realizes that there is no point to human pain and
suffering, because he can t find evidence that humans pain has meaning to God. He dismisses the idea
brought about by the first two stanzas, and admits his faith in meaning is crushed. He s lost his hope
that he s held onto for so long, and there s no joy left. He comments that his hope was the best hope
ever sown because belief in the significance and universal importance of human life was a beautiful
lie spread throughout humanity. However, the third line of the poem reads: Crass Casualty obstructs
the sun and rain, symbolizing happiness and optimism, which are obstructed by the reality that nothing
happens for a reason. The sun and rain he mentions represent the beautiful, seemingly significant
things in life. However, the love and the beauty the narrator has experienced are all rendered
meaningless by the insignificant misery of his lifetime. The Crass Casualty is the inane and pointless
pain he s experienced, along with every other human who has lived on earth. The worst part is that the
pain lacks an origin of reason, and doesn t matter to whatever God Hardy wants to believe in. Scholar
E. S. Ownbey discusses how Hardy struggled to conform to the religious expectations of his time. He
says that a number of Thomas Hardy s poems are built on

Andrew Jackson A Hero
President Andrew Jackson, born on March 15, 1767, was a man of little formal education. Described
as a quick tempered bully, sensitive to criticism in his youth, his behaviors exuded a wild reputation.
Perhaps the most noteworthy event of Jackson s childhood, was the American Revolution. Orphaned
by the war, Jackson spouted a lifelong hatred toward the British. After spending all of his inheritance
on alcohol and gambling, Jackson decided the best way to make his fortune was by entering the legal
profession. Successful in his career as a prosecutor, Jackson was later elected a seat on the Tennessee
Superior Court, a position he served for six years.
In the textbooks, Andrew Jackson is known as a national war hero, a title he received after his victory
at New Orleans during the War of 1812. However, his military career began in 1802 when he won the
election as a general to the Tennessee state militia. Jackson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

His motivation for party organization was driven by his own issues with congress. Issues for the
Democratic Party included concern for the widening gap between social classes. Bankers and
merchants, for example, easily enhanced their wealth to the disadvantage of producers such as,
farmers, artisans, and laborers. They believed a hands off approach toward the economy would be fair
to the people rather than the government only favoring wealthy businessmen. Their ideas attracted
aspiring entrepreneurs and poorer farming regions in the Northwest and the South. The formation of
the Whig Party in 1834 was due to Jackson s controversial performance in office. Whigs supported the
American System believing that the federal should set a protective tariff in place, as well as a national
bank, and be responsible for internal improvements. The Whig Party appealed to those in the
Northeast, a rapidly evolving region filled with established businessmen and

Operation TORCH is valid, well conceived operational approach executing several decisive tactical
actions to achieve the desired strategic end state. North Africa and the Mediterranean Sea are in firm
control of the Axis. This prevents the British from using the shortest route through the Mediterranean
Sea in accessing raw materials and Persian Gulf oil. The British are heavily dependent on imported
oil. Therefore, the Allied want access to Persian Gulf oil and raw materials via the Mediterranean Sea.
Furthermore, the Allied strongly believe control of North Africa from the Atlantic Sea to the Red Sea
best achieves free use of the sea lines of communication (SLOC) via the Mediterranean Sea.

Kenya Morris Sherman Essay
Cynthia Morris Sherman, better known as Cindy Sherman, is a heavily renowned American
photographer. Known best for her unique conceptual portraits. Throughout her early work, Sherman,
made her message clear, depicting women s role throughout society. Commenting extensively on
American sexism during the 1970s. Through this communication, her style was made clear, allowing it
to evolve in the future.
Firstly, it was essentially extremely eccentric, focusing heavily on the experimental movements of the
time period. This style all began through untitled stills, in which she is still most popular for to this
day.
Sherman s style through these stills put her on the map immediately in the New York scene. An
example of this could be seen through her very early untitled stills. Within film still ... Show more

Second off, her style was a complex, ever changing wheel of emotion. Sherman utilized self
portraiture as well as role playing, as shown previously in her untitled film stills. Often, these early
stills maintained a black and white aesthetic, not particularly focusing heavily on details, but rather the
reasoning for what was there as well as what it meant. This made ,most of the early stills very bare
bones to the point. This maintained a grounded level for each portrait, keeping the message and
character portrayed a little vague yet understandable with thought. The main common subject among
all of these images, Sherman is dead center. Due to the fact that these are self portraits, the viewer s
eyes always fall upon her, in which it s the same case among the untitled stills.
Thirdly, Sherman s technique may be one of the most unique throughout artistic history. Within her
work, an approach extremely influenced by portrait photography is present. Due to the fact of this, she
approached her portraits with a single feature in focus. She kept this same technique for the vast

Basketball Personal Narrative
Basketball my 6th grade year was rough. It was my very first year ever playing sports. Since I went to
a small elementary school everyone made the team and I was the only 6th grade student that joined I
was so nervous the first practice my hands were shaking way faster than I could run. The rest of the
girls were eighth graders that had a ball thrown at them the second the exited the womb; let me just
tell you that season sucked. Even though I cried after every game because I wasn t good enough and in
practice always crossed the finish line last I still somehow loved the game. It wasn t the only game I
loved though; I also loved soccer. After I kept the benches warm 6th grade year I decided I was going
to work hard. I started running a mile at least once a week. Which turned into two miles after I filled a
few buckets of sweat after a couple weeks. I had convinced my uncle to let me be a substitute on his
indoor soccer team since I already missed tryouts. I loved indoor soccer so much and that s when I
began to really start improving. I scored my first goal that season with five others after. I loved the
feeling of putting in every drop of work I could into a game that I truly loved. Travel soccer didn t

million in the campus area of Philadelphia (Clearing the Way for a Football Stadium. Philly.com). The
objective of this stakeholder analysis paper is to identify the most powerful and influential
stakeholders of Temple University stadium using three attributes power, legitimacy and urgency.
There are two divisions of stakeholders Primary and Secondary Stakeholders. According to Clarkson

Secondary stakeholders are those who don t have direct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They don t have ownership or legal rights. Their interests are categorized in four different areas which
are career stability, student/school welfare, freedom of choice and the overall quality of education. If
Temple invest on developing a stadium and if it doesn t go well then it might affect on employees
career stability as they may redistribute employees to other departments. It could affect overall quality
of education/academics to Athletics. Also if the stadium moves in the campus, obviously there would
be a change in the culture hence it will affect student welfare. Through survey result, we found that
66% people are against the building of a new stadium. So, if I think about the freedom of choice, it
looks like most of the employees don t think it would be a good idea to build a new stadium because it
only going to waste money. Temple could provide money to develop community and invest on their
education system. There are two stakeholders who have strong relationships with each other. I think
that the board of trustees and the football program should work together as the project operation
would depend on their decision. TU doesn t have Legal responsibilities or Philanthropic obligation
towards their employees. However, they have Economic responsibilities. They need to think about the
infrastructure and the cost to develop the stadium. It could affect negatively on

Peter Pan Stereotypes
The Disney animated film of Peter Pan contains multiple sections of different culture bodies within a
geographical area. Pan s society somewhat portrays the environment of a monarchy operated system
that has beliefs in gender roles; mostly due to Peter Pan is portrayed as a very confident, strong, and
admirable fellow. The gender role expectations shown in Peter Pan is that he is like a superhero, and a
prince. It is a leaning towards a stereotype society; placed in us to believe that males are supposed to
always save the day and be a hero ; monarchy towards one controlling male leader.
The film takes place within the timeline of late 19th Century and/or early 20th century. The plot s
atmosphere begins with the focus of the society of Neverland , an imaginary island which consists of

Compare And Contrast Bbkar And Babasaheb Ambedkar
When we talked about the famous Indian leader, Mahatma Gandhi will be the first person that comes
to most people mind. However, there are other many leaders that also played the important roles in
reforming India. One of them is Babasaheb Ambedkar. If I have to compare both of them with the
warlord, I would say that Gandhi is like the warlord who fight peacefully for the country liberation,
while Babasaheb Ambedkar is like the warlord who fight for equality and justice in the country. To be
honest, it is very shameful that I have never known Ambedkar before. Since after I have read his
biography and what he had done, he suddenly became one of my idols. Bhimrao or Babasaheb
Ambedkar was born on April 14, 1891 at Mhow in central India. Different from Ghandi who belonged

Ambedkar saw untouchability as the additional product of caste system, and believed that there could
not be any uplift or relief from untouchability if there were not the abolition of caste. Moreover,
Ambedkar believed that the caste system was actually a division of labourers which simply meant that
the caste system is the basis of assigning occupations. This caused a stagnant economy in
communities because the system did not allow people to have other professional skills and entered
other professions outside the caste group. He said that fixity of occupations hindered the growth and
development of the Indian economy and the society. In his thought, people should do the work that is
best suited to them to gain the most efficient or else this would lead to immobility of both labour and
capital. It could be said that Ambedkar was a challenge to Hinduism. By contrast, Gandhi was a
devoted Hindu. He thought that the responsibility of eliminating untouchability should depend on the
upper caste. Gandhi goal was not to annihilate the

Shell has and is continually trying to decrease the level of corruption in the workplace by setting strict
consequences for any violations of the set principles. In July 2009, Shell participated taking money
and cheating buyers by selling less amounts of gas at a higher price. BBC News reported that Shell
admits to fueling corruption. There have been several claims of employees giving and receiving gifts,
as well as participating in the collection of facilitation payments. For the Nigerian people, building
strong relationships among the workplace is important, especially when it comes to top management.
Business etiquette in Nigeria also consists of honesty, but because poverty is so high in Nigeria
bribery has taken a toll in the workplace. Internally, there is a lot of illegal gifting and monetary
bribery among lower level employees and top management in exchange for promotions. Externally,
Shell Nigeria has even gone as far as accepting forms of bribery from outside buyers in exchange for
business deals. HR is majorly impacted by Shell Nigeria s actions. Because Shell sets high principles
for their employees to follow, they expect their employees to know and abide by these standards.

impact of international influences on all aspects of life and economic activity. Brazil is one of the
fastest growing economies and superpower of South America. In the recent decade Globalisation has
allowed Brazil s economy to sustain stable economic growth, this was proven when Brazil
experienced a very mild recession during the Global Financial Crisis of 2008. Due to the high levels
of economic growth as well as increases in GNI per Capita Brazil s government has also been able to

In 1996 FDI inflows had increased to 11 Billion and in 2011 FDI inflows stood at their peak of 66

Human Characters In Strange Creaturess By Susan Blackmore
Understanding the humans is one of the most difficult things one learn in life, form how it works to
the science behind it. Susan Blackmore s, Strange Creatures brings to light all the struggles we go
through and some of our abilities can be misleading. She begins the passage by differentiating humans
from animals. She also tells her audience about Memes which seem to be successful due to not only
their purpose, but their host s devotion. If a person became easily influenced by a meme they would
have been more prone to imitating information. In the passage, Strange Creatures, she personifies
these memes calling them selfish and states that their only drive is to be passed around . Blackmore
goes on by saying, Instead of thinking of our own creations, and as working for us, we have to think of
them as autonomous selfish memes, working only to get themselves copied. We humans, because of
our powers of imitation, have become just physical hosts needed for the memes to get around.
(Blackmore 37) By personifying memes in this specific way she is informing the readers in an indirect
technique that memes are working against our minds. Blackmore s belief in the theory of memes
support the idea that humans are oblivious to the power that memes have over them. Imitation could
be as easy as seeing a pair of shoes that you love on television and purchasing a pair that is identical.
Applying memes into higher education can negatively affect individuals trying to obtain a unique

The Value Of Other Forms Of Life
Module 1 Discussion B 3
A. Humans are superior to other forms of life.
Humans are mammals that walk and rule the earth. Asger Holbolth of North Carolina State University
and his colleagues arrived at a recently new estimate. Astonishingly, there is new fossil evidence that
links to our most common ancestor of humans on earthy anywhere from 2 million to 10 million years
ago Hobolth said (Hobolth 2105).
B. Humans are in charge of the earth.
It is the responsibility of humans on earth to utilize the knowledge and wisdom and take care of
Mother Earth in a sustainable way. Scientist, Geographers, Anthropologist, Morphologist, GIS ers,
Scuba Divers, to perform research and develop procedures of preserving our valuable assets on Earth.
Which makes them large and in charge.
C. The value of other forms of life depends only on whether they are useful to humans.
Whether or not various forms of life are useful or non useful, they all have a right to inhabit the earth.
As shared in the Human Population Growth video, the St. Helena Olive may not seem to have any
use; however any green plant exudes oxygen to humans. The bacterium Fungi helps to decompose a
dead carcass in the rural land. All forms of life have something to contribute whether we can see it
with the natural eye or not.
D. Based on past extinctions and the history of life on earth over the last 3.5 billion years, biologist
hypothesize that all forms of life eventually become extinct, and we should not

industry performed throughout the many decades it has been? In addition, what did the industry do as
it has gone through many events that have challenged its survival? In this type of industry, we can say
that it has seen their share of success in profits but has seen its share of overwhelming down trends.

Rather than focusing on cutting jobs, they focused on reducing expenses and cutting back on
unnecessary items. The terrorist attacks are only one of the causes of crisis in the industry because
there are several issues that threaten the industry. One that was mentioned earlier gas prices. Labor
disputes are a factor as well. You may say that the airline industry has hit an extremely bad era. The
changes that these airlines are being driven to make will be very different from the way it used to be.
As most people know, the government has had much in bailing out business and the transformation
that some have undergone and the airline industry is no exception. The government has a major
influence on the restructuring of the industry and the air transportation system in general. To combat
the escalating expenses of enhanced security and diminishing supply demand, employee layoffs and
service trimming were the first areas to see cutbacks. This is certainly a competitive industry with new
companies surfacing and others failing. The restructuring will definitely influence the airline industry
s inclination concerning the development of both domestic and international service. It has been hard
for this industry to keep revenue up and cover all the rising expenses, which makes for an obstruction
in growth and prosperity. Gas prices play a massive key role in the struggle of this industry. At one
point gas prices were higher than ever before, which then started

The Pros And Cons Of Home Schooling
These days one of the biggest stresses resting on a parent s shoulders is finding the right school to
send their children to. What programs do the local public or private schools offer? What is the
demographic and culture of the school? Does their child have a special need that the school can
accommodate? Parents are willing to sell their dream homes to move to another district just to get the
best education for their child. However, in many cases parents can easily answer these questions with
one solution, home schooling. Despite much criticism, home schooling is a very flexible and
individualized solution for parents.
Home schooling is an alternative to public schooling where the student is taught at home instead of in
a classroom. Parents have the freedom in most cases to decide what curriculum their children studies.
Many parents choose to home school for religious independence or to protect them from the public
school s lack of programs and funding. It is an option that is legal to anyone in the US with very few
law restriction, in most states, and no educational background necessary from the parents. If the child
is not enrolled in a special home schooling program regulated by the state there is no funding from the
state for home schooled students and in most cases funded by the parents. There are many resources,
programs and groups available to home schooling parents. Home schooling parents have the option to
build a schedule that fits their lifestyle and adds more

Critical Appreciation Of Izu No Odoriko
With his publication of Izu no Odoriko in 1926, Yasunari Kawabata gained recognition for his work.
In this story, Kawabata tells the story of a student who is traveling along the Izu peninsula. During his
travels, he meets a group of traveling performers and decides to travel amongst them. During his time
with the performers, he is able to experience a life different from his student life in Tokyo. An image
that Kawabata repeatedly presents is a drum. The student tries to listen for the drum whenever he is
alone. To the student, the sound of the beating drum signifies that his time with the traveling
performers has yet come to an end. With its high popularity, Izu no Odoriko was translated twice by
two different translators during different time periods. The first translation was done by Edward
Seidensticker in 1954. The second translation was done by J. Martin Holman in 1997. Though both
Seidensticker and Holman translated the same story, there is still difference in their translations. With
the imagery of the drum, Holman and Seidensticker relay a difference in the intensity of emotion;
furthermore, with the analyzation from Tobias, it can be seen why each translator conveys a difference
in emotion. Throughout Izu no Odoriko Kawabata repeatedly mentions the drum that the young
dancer uses in her performances. To the student, the sound of the drum reminds him of the performers.
On a subconscious level, the drum reminds the student that his time with traveling

  • 2. How Does Photography Shape Society Photography has shaped society in many ways. It doesn t just serve the purpose of entertainment and enlightenment; it also makes society aware of issues and events the world faces on a daily basis. In this case documentary photography has not just made people all over the globe aware of these issues; it also enforces the power of persuasion upon some to make a difference in society. Photographs create a sense of realism and truth. Words can explain and create a mental picture in the minds of readers or listeners, but images and documentary photographs connect us better with individuals, nationally and even internationally. These photographs have the power to show people the similarities of the human conditions around the world. The year 1968 in America was a year full of turmoil and political uprising. Thus it was the pivotal year of the sixties, when all of the nation s actions and impulses towards violence, idealism, diversity and inequality peaked to produce the greatest possible hope and at the same time the worst despair. The rest of the world also watched USA and South Africa struggle in the war for peace and freedom. It was a time of social and race inequality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. The Theme Of Memories In Toni Morrison s Beloved In the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, memories are seen as powerful instruments which haunt the characters throughout the narrative. During the institution of slavery, slaves were dehumanised and treated subordinately. This novel asserts the fact that slaves were actually human beings, by exploring the ways that they had to endure the disturbing and traumatic memories of it, and still find ways to live. In the article Four Hundred Years of Silence: Myth, History and Motherhood in Toni Morrison s Beloved , Sally Keenan explores the need to remember and to tell and the desire to forget, memories with an inexhaustible and monstrous power to erupt and overwhelm the mind but which must somehow be laid aside if life is to continue (48). By this Keenan means that the novel accentuates the difficulty that the characters face in order to forget their painful memories, which at the same time cannot be disremembered. The urge to forget is complicated as it becomes laden with the feelings of pain, guilt, shame and fear, which eventually leads to an assumption that the traumatic memories cannot be forgotten. In the first section I will discuss the need to remember and to tell , and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beloved however, is real and the community tries to lay the memory of her aside by pretending that she never existed. Improving the Performance of Quality Improvement Teams Essay Improving the Performance of Quality Improvement Teams Introduction Within every company there is a customer, regardless of what your line of business is it is being done for the consumer albeit an external consumer or the internal consumer. The customer s needs and expectations should be the driving force behind the decisions we make and the problems we solve...the customer, not our own personal or monetary gain. A key premise in quality improvement is that you cannot improve a process until you fully understand it. When improvements in quality are achieved, teams should continue to strive for further improvements with the same problem or maybe address the other opportunities that have been identified. Many supporting factors must integrate QI into the structure and foundation of the company, these are also known as the building blocks. Improvement also implies that it will be implemented in a variety of settings, circumstances and various levels within an organization. • 5. The Narrative Of The New Zealand The narrative of the New Zealand feature film What We Do in the Shadows (2014) directed by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, follows the lives of three vampires, Viago, Deacon and Vladislav as they struggle to try to cope with the complexities of modern life. Living in a flat in Wellington, these modern day vampires are faced with the mundanities of everyday life, and things such as paying rent, trying to get into nightclubs and overcoming flatmate conflicts prove to be extremely difficult. What We Do in the Shadows is unique in that it combines parody and cinematography, while also using a mixture of two genres, vampire and mockumentary, to comment on contemporary social formations and to challenge traditional cultural myths. These elements of the film have been used to ensure the portrayal of the horrific as mundane and ordinary. What We Do in the Shadows uses aspects of the vampire genre to demonstrate the changes that the cinematic vampire has faced over the years. As Kane states, both the demeanour and appearance of the cinematic vampire has changed drastically since its introduction with Bela Lugosi in 1931 (1), which has resulted in the creation of the modern day cinematic vampire that we see in What We Do in the Shadows. Throughout film history three distinct periods of vampire narrative can be observed. Initially, the first cinematic vampires were formally dressed and presented as the leading villains in films, the second type showed more human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Mood In Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy by Shakespeare about love and misunderstandings between several characters. Claudio and Hero are in love but Claudio is led to believe that Hero has been unfaithful while Beatrice and Benedick both love each other but will not admit it. Since the story is a comedy that deals with serious issues such as infidelity and deceit, the mood shifts often between positive and negative moods, as shown in my diagram. In the diagram, the closer the point is to the top, the more positive the mood was during the scene and the closer the point is to the bottom, the more negative the mood was. While some scenes only had positive moments, others had both positive and negative. These scenes placement on the diagram reflects the average mood of the entire scene. This means that while a scene could have had a very positive moment, it will be placed lower on the diagram if the scene also contained a negative moment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The characters in these scenes only have high hopes for the future and do not express any negative thoughts that would affect the mood, which is why these scenes are placed so high. Scene 2 is placed slightly lower than scene 1 because, while it is completely positive, it does not express the joy and love that is in scene 1. Scene 3 of Act I is placed extremely low on the diagram because it has a very negative mood caused by the introduction of Don John, the villain of the play, who is the bitter brother of Don ... There are countless different Persian dancing styles such as the Baba Karam, Bandari and Choob Bazi. My research will be focused on specifically Bandari dance. Bandari dance is a very well known dance in the Persian culture that and has been a part of it for a long time. Bandari dance is performed alongside Bandari music. The term Bandari in Farsi means harbor or port, which is why this type of dance and music stem from Southern Iran and around the Persian Gulf, where this type of dance is also more common. Due to the exposure of this area to trade with the neighboring countries, this dance has been influenced by the African and the Arab culture. • 9. The Adventures of Mr. West in th Land of the Bolsheviks The Adventures of Mr. West in the Land of the Bolsheviks (1924) is a silent film comedy about an American businessman s experience in Moscow, yet the historical significance of the film gives you some idea of how the lower classes in Moscow in the 1920 s are living and how events that were relatively recent , the famine of 1921, affected the film. Also the idea of class struggle that is portrayed in the film between the characters and how their class is connected their actions. The amount of symbols in the film are great from the U.S flag to the peasant thieves themselves as it is warning of western/capitalist ideology. Although this film is about a gullible American it does not go into foreign relations between the nations and does not portray the United States as evil . This film probably went through censorship and was a propaganda tool for the masses, but it only targets a specific group, the proletariat, within the Soviet Union and rejects another group, the peasants. The greatest purpose of this film was to promote government competence and move blame for social problems to the peasants with capitalist ideology. The way that food is portrayed gives you insight into what is going on in the society. Only three years after the famine of 1921 and the way food is highlighted in the film could be the governments way of stating that there is plenty of food to eat or to accuse that the peasants, who most likely are NEP men, are eating better than the average person in ... • 10. Analysis Of Hardy s The Best Hope Ever Sown In the third stanza, Hardy states: But not so. How arrives it joy lies slain / And why unblooms the best hope ever sown? Immediately in this stanza, he realizes that there is no point to human pain and suffering, because he can t find evidence that humans pain has meaning to God. He dismisses the idea brought about by the first two stanzas, and admits his faith in meaning is crushed. He s lost his hope that he s held onto for so long, and there s no joy left. He comments that his hope was the best hope ever sown because belief in the significance and universal importance of human life was a beautiful lie spread throughout humanity. However, the third line of the poem reads: Crass Casualty obstructs the sun and rain, symbolizing happiness and optimism, which are obstructed by the reality that nothing happens for a reason. The sun and rain he mentions represent the beautiful, seemingly significant things in life. However, the love and the beauty the narrator has experienced are all rendered meaningless by the insignificant misery of his lifetime. The Crass Casualty is the inane and pointless pain he s experienced, along with every other human who has lived on earth. The worst part is that the pain lacks an origin of reason, and doesn t matter to whatever God Hardy wants to believe in. Scholar E. S. Ownbey discusses how Hardy struggled to conform to the religious expectations of his time. He says that a number of Thomas Hardy s poems are built on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Andrew Jackson A Hero President Andrew Jackson, born on March 15, 1767, was a man of little formal education. Described as a quick tempered bully, sensitive to criticism in his youth, his behaviors exuded a wild reputation. Perhaps the most noteworthy event of Jackson s childhood, was the American Revolution. Orphaned by the war, Jackson spouted a lifelong hatred toward the British. After spending all of his inheritance on alcohol and gambling, Jackson decided the best way to make his fortune was by entering the legal profession. Successful in his career as a prosecutor, Jackson was later elected a seat on the Tennessee Superior Court, a position he served for six years. In the textbooks, Andrew Jackson is known as a national war hero, a title he received after his victory at New Orleans during the War of 1812. However, his military career began in 1802 when he won the election as a general to the Tennessee state militia. Jackson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His motivation for party organization was driven by his own issues with congress. Issues for the Democratic Party included concern for the widening gap between social classes. Bankers and merchants, for example, easily enhanced their wealth to the disadvantage of producers such as, farmers, artisans, and laborers. They believed a hands off approach toward the economy would be fair to the people rather than the government only favoring wealthy businessmen. Their ideas attracted aspiring entrepreneurs and poorer farming regions in the Northwest and the South. The formation of the Whig Party in 1834 was due to Jackson s controversial performance in office. Throughout her early work, Sherman, made her message clear, depicting women s role throughout society. Commenting extensively on American sexism during the 1970s. Through this communication, her style was made clear, allowing it to evolve in the future. Firstly, it was essentially extremely eccentric, focusing heavily on the experimental movements of the time period. This style all began through untitled stills, in which she is still most popular for to this day. Sherman s style through these stills put her on the map immediately in the New York scene. Second off, her style was a complex, ever changing wheel of emotion. Sherman utilized self portraiture as well as role playing, as shown previously in her untitled film stills. Often, these early stills maintained a black and white aesthetic, not particularly focusing heavily on details, but rather the reasoning for what was there as well as what it meant. This made ,most of the early stills very bare bones to the point. This maintained a grounded level for each portrait, keeping the message and character portrayed a little vague yet understandable with thought. The main common subject among all of these images, Sherman is dead center. Due to the fact that these are self portraits, the viewer s eyes always fall upon her, in which it s the same case among the untitled stills. Thirdly, Sherman s technique may be one of the most unique throughout artistic history. Within her work, an approach extremely influenced by portrait photography is present. Susan Blackmore s, Strange Creatures brings to light all the struggles we go through and some of our abilities can be misleading. She begins the passage by differentiating humans from animals. She also tells her audience about Memes which seem to be successful due to not only their purpose, but their host s devotion. If a person became easily influenced by a meme they would have been more prone to imitating information. In the passage, Strange Creatures, she personifies these memes calling them selfish and states that their only drive is to be passed around . Blackmore goes on by saying, Instead of thinking of our own creations, and as working for us, we have to think of them as autonomous selfish memes, working only to get themselves copied. We humans, because of our powers of imitation, have become just physical hosts needed for the memes to get around. (Blackmore 37) By personifying memes in this specific way she is informing the readers in an indirect technique that memes are working against our minds. Blackmore s belief in the theory of memes support the idea that humans are oblivious to the power that memes have over them. In this story, Kawabata tells the story of a student who is traveling along the Izu peninsula. During his travels, he meets a group of traveling performers and decides to travel amongst them. During his time with the performers, he is able to experience a life different from his student life in Tokyo. An image that Kawabata repeatedly presents is a drum. The student tries to listen for the drum whenever he is alone. To the student, the sound of the beating drum signifies that his time with the traveling performers has yet come to an end. The second translation was done by J. Martin Holman in 1997. Though both Seidensticker and Holman translated the same story, there is still difference in their translations. With the imagery of the drum, Holman and Seidensticker relay a difference in the intensity of emotion; furthermore, with the analyzation from Tobias, it can be seen why each translator conveys a difference in emotion.
