Make Athens A Better Society
As a retired sailor, I am just seeking for peace and forgiveness, all of my arguments will be based on
my life experiences and my expertise as the Sailor that I once was. All I want is the best for my family
and the people of Athens, I have seen the destruction of war and the best way to avoid war and future
problems, in my opinion, is by education ourselves to become better citizens and live peacefully
among each other. We have to start making a radical change in this society; we have to stop getting
easily influenced by our governors and have our own voice heard, don t change the country, change
the people in the country. I believe that the best way to have our voice heard is by attending Assembly,

We want to listen to what they think; we need to know their opinion because every person has a whole
different perspective of how things should be done, we have to let them know why is it important for
them to attend Assembly. Those different perspectives can help in Assembly, every opinion can help
change or improve the opinions of other people, that s why we ll need the opinions of the Athenian
people. Now that we have seen our enemies destroy our town, trashed our values, and raped our
women, now it s the time to make this government different and we can change it by attending
Assembly, not just for the money, but for the future generations of Athens. Some people at first won t
attend Assembly due to the lack of education that they have; they will feel embarrassed to attend
Assembly, but we have to let them know that we want their opinions and their perspectives based on
the life experience that they all have had. We have to unify all social classes into Assembly, saying
that no discrimination between classes can get away without expulsion of Assembly. As Plato states in
The Republic Then we would rightly say that the understanding of the one is knowledge since he
knows, but that of the other is opinion, since he judges by appearances (Pg.

Social And Social Structure Theory
Social Structure Theory Introduction The social structure theory deliberates delinquency as a
gathering of the person s dealings with numerous groups, organizations, and process in the society.
Any person irrespective of their prominence in life is likely to become delinquents if they continue
with negative social affiliations. Every aspect of the society, social and economic must be viewed
using the social structure theories to find the cause of crime and deviance. The social structure theories
consist of four types which include social disorganization theory, anomie theory, differential
association theory, and labeling theory. Several theories offer different answers to this delinquent of

He contended that the financial base considerably resolute the social and political framework of a
humanity. Consequent Marxist elucidations put forward a more complex connection that emphasized
the relative objectivity of social and political groups, and an inclusive purpose by financial facets only
(Mason, 2013). In 1905, the German sociologist Ferdinand Tƶnnies argued in his study that merely the
constitution of a crowd into an accord generates a societal organization (Triplett, 2014). Ɖmile
Durkheim offered an idea that mixed social organizations and implements a played in guaranteeing the
concrete consolidation of society from side to side integration of different parts into a cohesive and
self reproducing whole. The idea of social structure was widely advanced in the 20th century, by key
aids from structuralist viewpoints drawing on the philosophies of Claude LĆ©vi Strauss, Feminist or
Marxist perceptions, from functionalist perceptions such as those established by Talcott Parsons and
his supporters, or from a range of logical viewpoints (Mason, 2013). The greatest persuasive efforts to
syndicate the notion of social structure with support are Anthony Giddens theory of structuration and
Pierre Bourdieu s practice theory. This allows him to contend that structures are neither autonomous of
performers nor defining of their conduct and which,

Descriptive Essay On Chlorine Water
The familiar, inharmonious clamour frustrates me as I struggle to maneuver my way through the bulky
chlorine water. I roll over to take a breathe and gasp shamelessly: my lungs burn with the intake of
oxygen, and the absorbed energy is not sufficient. I approach the wall and as I come off of the flip
turn, I see the towering starting blocks through the blurred vision of my goggles.
The sight brings forth a nostalgic memory, and sequentially a profound sense of energy. My eyes dart
back to blocks and there s definitely something else, something missing. I just can t grasp the idea. I
shove my confused thoughts away and concentrate on swim practice and the set intervals. My legs
flutter with a burning sensation and I relish the pain. However, the thought can t stop recurring, and as
I drift into the wall, I travel back to beginning of the memory...
BEEEEPPP! The screech of the blaring buzzer jolts my idle body. While attempting to warm myself
up, I watch some racers sprint down the lengthy pool and back, and note their struggle to beat the
clock. Their fingers ram into the ebony black touchpad, and their exhausted faces twist to see the
blinking scoreboard embossed with time results. Watching their rosy faces and stocky movements as
they climb out of the pool, my stomach churns with an uneasy mixture of butterflies and the food I
definitely shouldn t have consumed 5 minute before a race.
My eyes darted over to the sidelines of the pool, where my coach, John, was

The Pros And Cons Of Vegetarianism
A vegetarian diet does not consist of meat, poultry, or fish instead fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts,
and whole grains. Depending on the person, a vegetarian diet may consist of eggs and dairy products.
There are also different classifications of vegetarians. For example, lactovegetarians will consume
dairy, and lacto ovovegetarians will consume both dairy and eggs. Lastly, semivegetarians will
consume fish but no meat or poultry. It is not known when vegetarianism started, but oldest record
dates to the 6th century BC in Europe. A group of religious followers of the Orphic mysteries banned
sacrificing animals and the consumption of any animal product. In Greece, Pythagoras was developing
ideas that linked meat consumption and reincarnation, and this ultimately caused some to avoid
consuming meat. This lead to a phenomenon called that Pythagorean way of life which was practiced
by other philosophers and writers until the 19th century. The reasons for switching to a vegetarian diet
was similar to some mentioned today. The ancient Greeks believed that like humans, animals could
communicate and think, and humans were responsible to care for the animals. In addition, the Greeks
believed that consuming meat was impacted the mind and health. This lead them to think that a plant
based diet cleansed the soul and aligned them closer to god. There are no data recorded about
vegetarianism after the 6th century BC. The next known period dates to 1847 when the first vegetarian

Were The Patriots And Loyalists Justified
In the past, while learning about the American Revolution I had always thought of America as a united
front. The war between the Patriots and Loyalists could even be compared to the war between
America and Britain. The Patriots were not justified in abusing and expelling the Loyalists. In the
actions the Patriots took against the Loyalists, they violated their unalienable rights, these actions also
allowed for history to repeat itself through the civil war in 1861. The Patriots fought for an admirable
cause, as stated in the Declaration of Independence they believed in fighting for the unalienable rights:
that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (Ford.153). However, they took these
unalienable rights away from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1861, America entered a war within itself, the American Civil War. Both conflicts began in a similar
fashion. In both situations, a party felt like they were being muffled by the government. In response to
their feelings, both groups of rebels decided that they could survive on their own. This caused friction
within both parties and a disconnect between the government and those who thoroughly believed in its
practice and the governed and those who believed that there was more that could be done. While some
believed that it was best to see the government through, it is understandable to see where some might
find it more appealing to demand change. It is interesting to ponder an alternate end to the American
Revolution, while an accent might be nice, we would live in world where even the simplest necessities
would be heavily taxed and America would no longer be a safe haven for those seeking life, love and
the pursuit of happiness, like Thomas Paine stated in Common Sense This new world hath been the
asylum for the persecuted lovers of civil and religious liberty from every part of Europe (Paine.150).
Both groups of people during both periods of war wanted the best possible outcome for America,
unfortunately that was taken too far when Patriots started abusing Loyalists and expelling them from

Benefits Of Talent Management Programs
Introduction Talent management programs are usually designed to improve business performance and
results. Business performance is highly influenced by external factors. These factors include economic
conditions, competitors activities and government legislation. However, it s not just external factors
that influence performance. Internal factors like organizational structure, policies and business
strategies are also main performance influences (Hunt, 2014). Most companies have realized that they
can improve their performances by influencing their employee s behavior. If employees are aligned

The Advantages and weaknesses of learning
Results of the students response of learning questionnaires showed positive response, students like the
activity to make creative products by integrated STEM knowledge, they argue that these activities
were able to develop students creativity, build ability to work together, learn to be more responsible
and provide new experience in project based learning that they had never experienced before.
The weaknesses of this learning were a lot of time and cost to complete the creative products. In
addition, students usually used teacher centered learning, Therefore, the students think it difficult to
find alternative solutions when they are faced with difficulties at the time of working on a project, so
the lecturer must often provide assistance and motivation to the students in order for them not to
despair and finish the project
CONCLUSION
The activities to Creativity is an important capability that should be held to competitive standards in
the 21st century in entering the era of information and knowledge. The aims of this study were to
explore the creativity of students through learning that integrated STEM knowledge. Based on the
results and discussions above, it can be concluded as

The Impact Of Media On Children s Life
Introduction Socialisation is the process an individual experiences to become a unique individual and
an active member of society. Through socialisation, individuals accept and acquire beliefs, roles,
motives, values and behaviours. The process of socialisation is influenced by many factors including:
family, school, peers, location and the media. The impact the media has on socialisation, particularly
in Western countries, is immense, as it has the ability to influence ideas, opinions, attitudes and images
to many people. The media is a macro agent in socialisation, as it presents people with ideas and
generalised views of society from beyond their micro worlds. Family is another important agent of
socialisation, as for most children, their family is responsible for their initial socialisation process.
Families have a major and long lasting effect on children s lives. The home and the family is the first
environment of learning for the child, where a child s first acquisition of knowledge, skills, attitudes
and values begins. School is another important agent of socialisation. The official purpose of school is
to teach knowledge and life skills. However, students don t just learn from the academic curriculum.
In school, we also learn skills to prepare us to become functional members of society. The focus of
this report is to compare how the agents of socialisation have changed over time. The primary research
conducted was a survey and an interview of people from varied

Effective Training Program Essay
Exercise is done by majority of people in order to improve one s health and fitness. Everyone is able
to improve their own health and fitness by exercising in order to achieve proficient physical abilities.
Not only can an individual perform and commit to particular activities for personal health, but also
purposes such as sport performance, body size, strength and conditioning, etc; all of which can be
achieved from specific exercises performed consistently with the appropriate nutrition and rest in

skills of their sport. Thus if all individuals perform exercise, we can refer even those that do not

drawbacks.
The first training program is called periodization. This program divides the training process into
specific phases or mesocycles, over a certain amount of time, focusing the manipulation of training
variables such as loads, sets, and repetitions, in order to maximize training adaptations. Selye s

The Role Of Animal Burial In Ancient Egypt
Man s Best Friends It s a Western idea that a dog is a man s best friend. Yet, when our canine
companions get sick, or hurt, or inevitably grow old and they die, what happens? If Spot was lucky, he
might get buried in the back yard inside an old shoebox or crate, wrapped in an old towel or blanket,
with some dirt thrown on him. Before long his shallow grave will be overgrown by grass and
dandelions and prickles. All it will take is one quick swipe of a lawnmower and any trace of your
beloved pet will be gone forever. As much as we love our pets and rely on domesticated animals for
food and for other goods, they are essentially disposable. We are a society that flushes our dead
goldfish down the drain. Not so in Egypt.
While the ancient Egyptians exploited a variety of animals, the animal kingdom was closely integrated
into their culture, especially when it came to their funerary practices. There is evidence of ritualized
animal burial from Predynastic times onward. At the graveyard in Heliopolis dogs and goats were
buried in a nearly 1:4 ratio to human beings. Although in few numbers, evidence of animal burial was
also found in Maadi and Wadi Digla. In all three cases, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The great Egyptian tombs were filled with all sorts of goods, everything an Egyptian pharaoh or
aristocrat could ever need in the afterlife: food, drink, clothing, tools. These sites also contained tombs
for their servants, so that they would continue to serve their master even in death. Following this line
of thought, it is plausible that the ancient Egyptian wanted to make sure they had access to their
animals in the afterlife. Cattle to plow fields and provide milk, oxen to pull heavy loads such as the
sarcophagus as well as fish and birds to hunt. As previously stated, many of these animals were found
with their own pottery and grave goods. Clearly the ancients wanted their animals to be cared for in

An Analysis of the Mother in Tillie Olsen s Story, I...
The mother in Tillie Olsen s story, I Stand Here Ironing gives insight into the upbringing of her first
child. We see she is guilty of neglect towards Emily and is distressed due to poor decisions that she
had made rearing her daughter. The mother reflects on the past and thinks that her actions and lack of
might have affected Emily. She is so engulfed in what ifs and how could I s that she is practically
beating herself mentally. Poor Emily received little attention when attention was needed, allowing us
to condemn the mother for her actions. At the same time we understand her because in the past 19
years there were certain situations that they endured where she had no control, leaving her helpless.
What we see in the mother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her guilt is the unfinished emotion, the emotion she has not accepted or coped with and the only way
she can conceal it is through anger.
Guilt is a very strong emotion and is very hard to deal with; the mother obviously needs to find a way
to get things off her chest. Maybe she could start seeing a psychiatrist or family counselor where they
could give her guidance or have a sit down with Emily and let her know how she feels, or maybe she
could invest in a notebook and write down all her feelings to help her get through her suppressed
emotions.
The mother s guilt is justifiable though because it comes from decisions she made in the past, the
actions of neglect. We see the mother leave her young daughter to go on a date knowing that it was
wrong. Except when we left her alone nights, telling ourselves she was old enough...The time we
came back, the front door open, the clock on the floor in the hall. Why wasn t she able to get someone
to watch Emily? If she would have had a babysitter Emily wouldn t have been so lonely and probably
wouldn t have thrown the clock on the floor or had the door wide open for just anyone to walk in. The
mother might have told herself Emily was old enough at the time but I m sure she knew that she wasn
t. Leaving your child at home without a babysitter at a young age is unacceptable no matter what the
reason may be. Or why does she pay one child attention and

African Catholic Church And The Church Of South Africa
Botswana Botswana is a predominantly Christian country situated immediately north of South Africa.
It came under the influence of Christianity in the first half of the 19th Century through the missionary
activities of Robert Moffat, David Livingstone, and other representatives of the London Missionary
Society (1817). They succeeded in establishing what is known today as the United Congregational
Church in Southern Africa (UCCSA). Their arrival opened the missionary field to other churches
namely the Dutch Reformed Church (1871), the Lutheran Church (1891), the Anglican Church
(1900s), the Methodist Church (1940s), the Seventh Day Adventists (1922) the Roman Catholic
Church (1928) and Pentecostal Churches (1930s). It should be noted that ... Show more content on

the said freedom includes freedom of thought and of religion, freedom to change his religion or belief,

that in the interest of public safety, public order, public morality and public health and for the purpose
of protecting the rights and freedoms of other persons, the Government enacted the 1972 Societies

Hydrogels were the first biomaterials developed to use in the human body (Kopeček, 2007). As stated
by Sood et. al (2009), hydrogels are a very complex hydrophilic organic cross linked polymers which
consist of between 80 and 90% water base. An example of a commercial hydrogel is IntraSiteĀ® Gel,
developed by Smith and Nephew, shown in Figure 1 below. IntraSiteĀ® Gel is an amorphous hydrogel
and gently rehydrates necrotic tissues, helping autolytic debridement, and also is able to loosen and
absorb slough and exudate (Smith nephew.com, 2015).Hydrogels are able to absorb a minimum
amount of fluid by swelling, in addition they can moisturize a dry wound, thereby promoting autolytic
debridement and providing a moist thermally insulated wound. In addition, they are capable to reduce
the temperature of a wound by up to 5Ā°C and promote epithelialization and granulation. However,
since they are permeable to gas and water, they are considered less effective bacterial barrier than
occlusive dressings (Sood et. al 2009). The main applications of hydrogels are the ability to donate
moisture to the wound, help disintegrate dry and dead tissue, and keep wound bed moist to help cell
growth (Covidien.com, 2015). Another benefit includes the ability to use them in conjunction with
topical medications or antibacterial agents. Regarding their drawbacks, they are unable to

The Public School System Of Education
The public school system of education in the United States of America needs to change for many
different reason, we not only need for our schools to change we need it to be done as soon as possible.
We live in a society where our children are failing to meet the academic standards or enhanced their
social skills to be prepared for the outside world. My second reason for our schools to change is that
they are overcrowded for insists one teacher in one classroom can teach up to 15 to 20 kids. My last
reason is the budget for our schools, we are losing funding for many different things raging from
materials to creative classes.
Besides parents themselves teachers are extremely important because they are the key to our children s
education future. Madeline Levine said ( One thing we know for sure is that kids learn better when
teachers are invested and paying attention and showing they care. ) Which is very true, you see
without teachers our kids would be sitting ducks however, it is also up to us the parents to teach our
kids as John Hood said in his article ( Providing students opportunities at school does not guarantee
success if student watch television rather than do their homework and parents let them. ) We as the
parents and teachers need some type of communication and understanding because our children are
failing, some are struggle to meet the academic standards. The school board created this program

The Minimum Legal Drinking Age
There has been ongoing public concern for adolescents and early adults drinking culture in worldwide.
Australia has also great concerns about early initiating alcohol misuse and risky level of drinking
pattern among young population. Consequently, the Minimum legal drinking age law is one of major
alcohol control enforcement legislation to prevent alcohol related harms among adolescents (
Wechsler and Nelson, 2010, p.985). Recently Western Australia which is the second heaviest alcohol
consumption state in Australia and internationally number tenth alcohol booze state has been seriously
proposed to change the alcohol policy to increase minimum legal drinking age from 18 to 21 not only
in Western Australia but also all national states and territories (Collerton, 2011). In this study will be
discussed whether increasing the minimum legal drinking age is effective strategy to control young
populations drinking trends and expecting positive public health consequences in Australia. Firstly,
binge alcohol drinking is ongoing and pervasive issue among Australian adolescents ( Dengenhardt et
al, 2013, P.1). Generally, adolescents tend to drink less frequently than adults drinkers but they have a
tendency for excessive and binge drinks (Wechsler and Nelson, 2010, p.985). For example, the survey
data showed that approximately 3.4% of Australian young population between 12 and 17 year olds

Watteau s Use Of Nature In The Art Of Libertarianism
Through about 1710 1750, the Rococo era of art flourished throughout France and soon made its way
through the rest of Europe. The word Rococo comes from the combined words of barocco , a
Portuguese word meaning over the top, and the French word racaille meaning shells. (Barrett)
Emerging from France during the rule of Louis XV, Rococo art was distinguished by its portrayal of
aristocratic standards and principles. Because the genre grew in a time of libertarianism, Rococo art
initiated the approval of sensuality and this was depicted through its use of nature. The role of nature
in Rococo art represents the cultural freedom of France and other various meanings. Jean Antoine

Watteau paints a scene of people dancing, socializing, and becoming intimate with one another.
Everyone in the painting is basking in play and leisure and this type of behavior implies that
embracing in pleasure is natural. Since the pilgrims are one with nature, their sensuality is validated
and approved. This carefree type of mentality is shown within nature s setting; therefore, pleasure is
accepted and is considered natural. Another example of nature displaying the approval of sensuality is
in Watteau s painting, La Fete D Amour (The Feast of Love), 1719. In Watteau s painting, we see that
the main focal point is intimacy in a natural environment. Again, Watteau is depicting a scene of
aristocrats leisurely socializing in an open and succulent setting. Although there is a stronger sense of
sexual intimacy shown through the closeness of the couples, because of Watteau s use of nature in the
scene, it is seen as natural and acceptable. In Suzanne Folds article, A Study for La Fete D Amour by
Antoine Watteau 1684 1721 , she explains how the nature in the scene captures the effects of the
painting. She

Evaluation Of The Diagnostic Imaging Department Essay
When it comes to project orchestrating in the diagnostic imaging department, certain dominant
procedures are vital to establish the prosperity of any construction project. Determining the
desideratum for the project, analyzing requisites for equipment, space and personnel, and budgeting
for the project are obligatory steps (DA, 2016). They are followed by scheduling and designing the
miscellaneous aspects of the project. With rapid change in diagnostic imaging technology, there are
continuous changing demand in the field of radiological diagnosis and imaging service. Resulting in
an advanced, and detailed systematic planning and organized department. Having a foresight into
future developments and requirements will lead facilities into the 21st century. Some people not being

The Benefits of Year Round Education and Extended School...
Year round education (YRE) is implemented in 436 U.S. school districts with very few complaints. In
fact, school districts that have been participating in YRE and extended school days (ESD) are raving
about the benefits in pupil s achievement level, their new found enthusiasm in learning, as well as the
many programs that exist in the extended day promoting the decline in latch key children.
Some schools decided to initiate YRE and ESD because of swelling enrollments and lack of student
achievement. There were many issues raised when deciding if YRE and ESD were a step in the right
direction. For one, we are all creatures of habit, and to implement a new school schedule would mean
extensive changes. Second, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By keeping the child in school on a year round schedule or ESD students will be less likely to loose
information due to a long summer recess and have more time in a learning environment, therefore,
enriching the child s learning abilities.
There are different types of YRE and ESD schedules. The most popular schedule is single track and is
usually implemented for the purpose of academic improvements. On a single track schedule children
attend school year round with frequent intersessions or breaks. Typical schedules might be 90 30, 60
20, or 45 15 where the first number indicates days of instruction and the second, days of vacations
(Opheim, Mohahjer, Read, 1996). There is also a multi track schedule, which is known to be more
cost efficient. This schedule is often implemented when the school is overcrowded, in poor
neighborhoods, as well as in inner city schools. On a multi track schedule students schedules are
consistent with the single track 90 30, 60 20, or 45 15, however, students are assigned to one of the
several tracks which are staggered therefore, no one group of students has the same intersession at the
same time. By staggering attendance schedules, class size is deducted. Studies have concluded that
decreased class size promotes more efficient learning.

Colonial Avoidance Of Duties
How did the British attempt to handle colonial avoidance of duties? While reading chapter I found
myself comparing America to a teenage girl and Britain to a mother who is struggling to keep her
child undercontrol. I think I felt this way because America really hated being told what to do by their
mother country. The catalyst that eventually led to the eroding relationship between the two entities
really was the French and Indian War because Britain was left with a giant debt while America was
left with the satisfaction of winning and more land than ever. Britain called for stricter rule of colonial
lands this angers the colonists because they believe these actions go against their rights as English
citizens. Britain first tried to rein in control with the Proclamation of 1763 which prohibited white
settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains. They followed this with the Quartering Acts which
required all colonists to provide supplies and barracks for soldiers. This really infuriated colonists who
in turn acted like teenagers. They paid no mind to what Britain proclaimed and moved to those lands
anyway. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As to be expected this angered colonists who would express their anger through petitions which were
sent to royal authorities and ignored. This is the epitome of a mother daughter relationship. First the

Familial ties, tradition and upbringing shape an individuals identity and sense of security. This idea is
expressed in The Follower by Seamus Heaney as well as in two short stories from Alistair Macleod s
The Island ; The Boat and Golden Gift of Grey. . The texts illustrate the importance in establishing and
maintaining connections of paternal nature. They divulge in the idea that incompatibility with one s
home can affect the viewing of their place in the world, and indicate that qualities such as physical and
intellectual skill can factor into a sense of belonging and place. Paternal connections are a focal issue

The Noble Truth Of Suffering
All human beings suffer. There are many forms of suffering that effect individuals lives. Suffering has
to come from somewhere, and Buddhists use the Four Noble Truths to explain what suffering is and
where it comes from. The Four Noble Truths are the doctrines of Buddha. These truths explain the
way to the purification of beings (Walsh, 335). The First Noble Truth is the Noble Truth of Suffering.
Maurice Walshe, the main editor of The Long Discourses of the Buddha, helps explore the Noble
Truth of Suffering in the Mahasatipatthana Sutta: The Greater Discourse on the Foundations of

There are three main types of dukkha, everyday dukkha, dukkha from the experience of change, and
dukkha from resisting change. Each of these categories contains different types of suffering that affect
individuals on different levels. Everyday dukkha is the suffering that individuals experience in the
normal course of the day. It is suffering in terms of stress, irritation, pain and other ordinary emotions
and strains on life (Jeffreys, 2/11). When a student is stressing out about studying for an exam, the
student is experiencing everyday dukkha. The other two categories revolve around the Buddhist belief
that there is constant change and change is suffering (Jeffreys, 2/11). Dukkha from the experience of
change is never ending; it is inevitable. This is a type of cycle; everything is always going to change.
Under this broad category of suffering, there is change from a family member leaving home to
walking out into the cold (Jeffreys, 2/11). It is any type of change, large or small. Often times these
changes are ones that people consider miniscule. A very relatable example of this would be when an
individual sits in the same seat every day, and one day the individual is forced to change seats. In the
Buddhist explanation this is dukkha; this is suffering. The third type of suffering is dukkha from the
resistance of change. Humans are creatures of habit.

Robotic Rights Are Really Required
Robotic Rights Are Really Required Envision a world where people and robots are living together in
harmony achieving things that no one could ever do alone. Now envision that same world where
instead of working together, robots and humans are at war because of robotic rights. Both worlds are
equally possible depending on what people decide to do with robots. If A.I. never receives rights, the
second scenario may very well happen, but if they are given rights, scenario one may happen. In a
world where technology is rapidly advancing, A.I. is becoming more intelligent everyday. Some day

They just believe that they all have the same object (Sautoy 13). With A.I., a person can t look into
their box of consciousness to see if they too have a beetle. Alex Knapp, an Associate Editor for
Forbes, poses an interesting question: If an AI can t alter the rules its creator set up for his behavior,
purpose, etc., is it really conscious in the same way that humans are? (Knapp 10). People can t
determine if A.I. are conscious the same way people are if they can t change their programming
because humans, from birth, are programmed to do certain tasks. These are called instincts. The robots
programming is just their instincts making them the same as people and making it impossible to
determine their consciousness. All three datas point to humans not being able to tell whether or not
A.I. have consciousness and if humans cannot decide if an A.I. is conscious, then there is no reason
they should keep A.I. away from human rights. Humans have the right to explore where they came
from and their beliefs, why they re alive and who they are, so there isn t any reason A.I. shouldn t be
able to do the same. The second reason A.I. deserve rights is because technology is rapidly advancing
faster than ever before. In every sci fi story, robots have always aided humans with everyday tasks.

Scarlet Letter Transcendentalism Essay
As a transcendentalist, writing typically comes from a rebellious opinion or point of view, and in this
case, given that at this time it was the rise of the era of romantics, their focus was romance. Although
Nathaniel Hawthorne was a transcendentalist of this time, he did write pieces with main focuses of
dark romance. Hawthorne, unlike other writers of his time, would write about the imperfections and
vices that come with romance. One of his most famous works, The Scarlet Letter, is set and influenced
by a time in Puritan history called the Salem Witch Trials. He used aspects of his own history to
influence his writing as well. This is another technique that differentiated Hawthorne from other
writers of his time. Nathaniel Hawthorne uses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If an offense was to occur, it was first examined through the Bible and if it violated any words,

the purpose of their strict beliefs was to create an example as to what a strong religious community
should look like. They aimed to be role models for those who did not follow the Puritan ways ( The
Scarlet Letter: Nathaniel 317). The Scarlet Letter starts out with Hester Prynne, the main character,
standing on a stage in the middle of her village waiting to be punished for her crime of adultery. The
reason why Hester received her punishment for her crime in front of the whole town is because this
was the custom in which Puritans believed successful. The Puritans believed that public humiliation
was the most effect punishment there was. In response to Hester s defiance, the Puritans thought it was
best for her to be punished in the most effective way as possible (Moss and Wilson 355). One of the
main reasons why Hester Prynne was punished and humiliated so greatly was because of the fact that
adultery was in fact a new crime. This meaning that it had not surfaced severely until Hester
conceived a child through her sin. This crime was unparalleled in their culture (Baym

Emergency medical helicopters have an alarming history of crashes. The National Transportation

conditions, time of day, and landing sites. The study showed that poor weather conditions posed the
greatest risk for helicopter crashes. Since, the study many improvements have been made to improve
the crash rate. It has been said that the sole decision is set on the pilot as to whether it is safe enough
to take the flight or not. The pilot must consider the weather conditions, aircraft maintainence, and
crew readiness. Medical personnel cannot make the decision to take the call. Medical personnel
should not tell the pilot the nature of the call, because this may deter the pilot s judgment. Currently

Shakespeare s Treatment Of Women In Othello
Objectified and Mistreated
Analysis of Shakespeare s Treatment of Women in the plays Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, Lear, Much
Ado about Nothing, and Tempest Women have always played a large role in society. It is arguable that
without women, the world could not possibly exist. Well, humans would not exist. This ultimately
suggests that women are needed very much. Without women, men are nothing. Men cannot exist
without women. Why then, are women oftentimes treated so badly throughout history? Taking a look
at how women have been treated, it can be observed that they have been severely mistreated. Even in
other cultures, they are extremely mistreated. It s assumed that women are ultimately the weaker sex
and are dependent on men. This is in fact, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The men in this play completely misunderstand women. There are multiple stereotypes and women
are expected to adhere to the patriarchal rules that are forced upon them. When the women do not
adhere to these rules, they are ultimately punished by Shakespeare by being killed. All the women in
this play are portrayed as weak and unable to protect themselves against the men. The nature of
women is portrayed once again as the weaker sex. Women were ultimately unable to protect
themselves from the men, and this caused the men to be extremely dominant, aggressive, and assert
their authority. Desdemona was a very feminine woman. She was extremely obedient and this caused
the men to be even more dominant. She was also a very passive woman which ended up being a curse
to her in the end. Othello gets very jealous and hits Desdemona. Since she is the weaker sex according
to Shakespeare, she cannot defend herself against Othello because she is not equipped or prepared to
do so. Desdemona is depicted in a stereotypical way, and Othello sees her in that way as well.
Everything she does strengthens his belief in the stereotype. This stereotype is used as an excuse for
the harsh treatment that Desdemona receives, and she is portrayed as the one who is at fault.
Eventually Desdemona is subordinated by Othello, once again because she is portrayed as the weaker
and helpless individual by Shakespeare.

Hotel-Booking Market
PROMOTIONAL CHANNELS
Hotel booking market is heating up its rivalry, as Hotel sales in the U.S. and European online hotel
bookings market are projected to increase by 16 percent to $79 billion next year, from $68 billion in
2012. Travel related inquiries on search engines are now second most searched topics, surpassing

this segment include travel advertisers such as Expedia, TripAdvisor and Orbitz Worldwide. Priceline
is the biggest spender in terms of online ad spending. Priceline, an online booking giant, boosted
annual ad spending to more than $1 billion. The competition strategy over other booking websites like
Expedia and Google have raised questions about the benefits of promoting online versus good old
fashion TV campaigning. Online advertising is preferred method today as it provides consumers a
quick way to compare prices and complete the transaction all in one step. Online channels recently
included social networking services Facebook and Twitter take a majority share of the web advertising
market. Second portion of that share is still spent for ads on search sites. With major decline in money
spent on TV campaigns, Priceline is one of the companies still heavily vested in TV ads and continues
to use that promotion channel to raise brand awareness. Also, in 2013 TripAdvisor, the hotel reviews
site, started to broadcast its first TV advertisement in the US proving that

How Is Imagery Used In 1984
1984, a dystopian novel, by George Orwell, an english novelist and journalist, describes the lives of
people under the control of the Inner Party. In this specific scene, Winston, the protagonist of the
novel, had just gotten captured after the Thought Police had found out that he was having thoughts of
being against the inner party. They had just separated him and Julia, Winston s love interest. The
author uses imageries, similes, and metaphors to create a concerned and melancholic tone throughout
Winston s suffering. The author uses a vast amount of examples of imagery to create and show his
concerned tone, starting from how Winston woke up in a camp bed, fixed down so that he could not
move. He continues to describe the events that would take place in that room and the actions that
would be done to him. Orwell explains that sometimes it was fists, sometimes it was truncheons,

example of Sesame Street quite a lot throughout the chapter. He begins by stating Sesame Street was
almost guaranteed to be successful with children due to the fact that having children learn through

continues of to say that Sesame Street actually goes against traditional book learning but puts of a

Persuasive Essay On Choices In Life
I believe that everyone in this life has choices. The choices we make define who we are as people and
what we stand for. Choosing one path over another may be the best or worst decision you could ever
make. However, once you have chosen, stick to your decision because you made that choice for a
reason. Even if it is to have lunch at a certain restaurant over another, or a bigger decision like
choosing your major. Something in your life helped you make that decision, and the worst thing you
can do is live your life with the regret of a choice. If your decision ends up badly, simply make
another choice. Choose a new path. In the words of my oh so wise History teacher, Never second
guess yourself because that s worse than making the wrong choice in the end. One of the best
examples that comes to mind is a story I heard a few weeks ago, based on a real event. In 1979, a man
named Lee Strobel and his family went to a restaurant one evening and he gave his 7 year old
daughter a nickel to get a gumball from the machine and a few moments later, she came back to the
table choking on the gum. They didn t know what to do and if they waited for an ambulance they
feared it would be too late. All of a sudden, a woman came up and said that she is a nurse and can
help. The woman, after getting the gumball out of the little girl, told her parents that her and her
husband were headed to another restaurant when all of a sudden she made a last minute choice to go
here. Because of her choice, a little girl s life was saved. Hearing stories such as this one, reminds me
of all of the choices I have made, and how they have affected me.
When I was 6, my family up and moved to a new school called Knox County. I loved it there for I had

Cannibalism Research Paper
Cannibalism is an act that is thought to be terrible and inconceivable in the minds of people. But,
contrary to what many people think, cannibalism is very much alive and still being practiced within
many countries including The United States of America; it s just that the government hasn t found out
about it yet. This paper will take you through cannibalism s history, the different types of cannibalism,
and its different cases. Cannibalism is one of the strangest and most horrific American restrictions.
When the common person thinks of cannibalism a disturbed serial killer who cuts his victims into
pieces and boils them in bloody water quickly comes to mind. Cannibalism is exactly defined as the
eating of one s own species; cannibals are people eating people. Cannibals have a long, broad, and

Effects Of Deforestation On The Environment
Deforestation is one of the many problems this world faces today. Many people are unaware of how
harmful deforestation can be towards the environment and the animals that inhabit the area. Many
people don t even know what deforestation is and that it s actually happening. To sum it all up,
deforestation is the process of destroying forests by cutting them down or burning the trees down,
destroying hundreds of acres in order to make more land available for other uses thinking that the
benefits outweigh the costs. However these uses leave negative effects causing the population of
forests and animals that inhabit it too decrease tremendously all for shopping plazas and new freeways
with hundreds of tolls. Not to mention the unexpected effects that could happen towards the
environment for example global warming. The act of deforestation for new land is harmful towards
the environment and should be stopped. Many forests are being destroyed and leaving many animals

Without Forests the environment can cause effects that we wouldn t know, imagine if all the forests on
earth were gone, life on earth would most likely not last. According to a study by NASA s Earth

Descriptive Essay On The Night In The City
We would walk through the city every night. It would not be an 80 degree night, no, more like a 68
degree night, where all you need is warm sweater to shelter your kidneys. No wind, no rain, just the
empty air. You and I and the empty air. As much as we adored hanging out during the shinning days,
we always favored the night. The night had more intimate and exclusive qualities. The night has a
misty glow that makes the world shine in a way that the sun fails to achieve. The night conceals itself
behind an unlit cloak and requires effort to unravel the true beauty underneath. That s how it feels
existing around you. It s similar to having an exhausting day and all that is anticipated is the night.
You can stroll to relaxation and contentment. You are my night. When we are together, I suppose, it is
only for the moon to see. We would walk through the city every night, specifically on the sidewalk
and the rhythmic clicks of my boots echoed throughout the entire block. My boots wanted to show
you off to the entire city. Each click lets everyone know that I am with you and no one else. Each click
lets everyone know that I am confident and delighted when I am around you. Each click lets everyone
know that I am not ashamed of who I am around you. However, your shoes would not make any noise.
They never do. We would walk through the city every night at the same pace. Side by side, left foot,
then right, then left, and then right again. We are in harmony, yet relish the silence.

  • 2. Make Athens A Better Society As a retired sailor, I am just seeking for peace and forgiveness, all of my arguments will be based on my life experiences and my expertise as the Sailor that I once was. All I want is the best for my family and the people of Athens, I have seen the destruction of war and the best way to avoid war and future problems, in my opinion, is by education ourselves to become better citizens and live peacefully among each other. We have to start making a radical change in this society; we have to stop getting easily influenced by our governors and have our own voice heard, don t change the country, change the people in the country. I believe that the best way to have our voice heard is by attending Assembly, Despite the fact that we re getting paid, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We want to listen to what they think; we need to know their opinion because every person has a whole different perspective of how things should be done, we have to let them know why is it important for them to attend Assembly. Those different perspectives can help in Assembly, every opinion can help change or improve the opinions of other people, that s why we ll need the opinions of the Athenian people. Now that we have seen our enemies destroy our town, trashed our values, and raped our women, now it s the time to make this government different and we can change it by attending Assembly, not just for the money, but for the future generations of Athens. Some people at first won t attend Assembly due to the lack of education that they have; they will feel embarrassed to attend Assembly, but we have to let them know that we want their opinions and their perspectives based on the life experience that they all have had. We have to unify all social classes into Assembly, saying that no discrimination between classes can get away without expulsion of Assembly. As Plato states in The Republic Then we would rightly say that the understanding of the one is knowledge since he knows, but that of the other is opinion, since he judges by appearances (Pg. ... He contended that the financial base considerably resolute the social and political framework of a humanity. Consequent Marxist elucidations put forward a more complex connection that emphasized the relative objectivity of social and political groups, and an inclusive purpose by financial facets only (Mason, 2013). In 1905, the German sociologist Ferdinand Tƶnnies argued in his study that merely the constitution of a crowd into an accord generates a societal organization (Triplett, 2014). Ɖmile Durkheim offered an idea that mixed social organizations and implements a played in guaranteeing the concrete consolidation of society from side to side integration of different parts into a cohesive and self reproducing whole. The idea of social structure was widely advanced in the 20th century, by key aids from structuralist viewpoints drawing on the philosophies of Claude LĆ©vi Strauss, Feminist or Marxist perceptions, from functionalist perceptions such as those established by Talcott Parsons and his supporters, or from a range of logical viewpoints (Mason, 2013). • 4. Descriptive Essay On Chlorine Water The familiar, inharmonious clamour frustrates me as I struggle to maneuver my way through the bulky chlorine water. I roll over to take a breathe and gasp shamelessly: my lungs burn with the intake of oxygen, and the absorbed energy is not sufficient. I approach the wall and as I come off of the flip turn, I see the towering starting blocks through the blurred vision of my goggles. The sight brings forth a nostalgic memory, and sequentially a profound sense of energy. My eyes dart back to blocks and there s definitely something else, something missing. I just can t grasp the idea. I shove my confused thoughts away and concentrate on swim practice and the set intervals. My legs flutter with a burning sensation and I relish the pain. However, the thought can t stop recurring, and as I drift into the wall, I travel back to beginning of the memory... BEEEEPPP! The screech of the blaring buzzer jolts my idle body. While attempting to warm myself up, I watch some racers sprint down the lengthy pool and back, and note their struggle to beat the clock. Their fingers ram into the ebony black touchpad, and their exhausted faces twist to see the blinking scoreboard embossed with time results. Watching their rosy faces and stocky movements as they climb out of the pool, my stomach churns with an uneasy mixture of butterflies and the food I definitely shouldn t have consumed 5 minute before a race. My eyes darted over to the sidelines of the pool, where my coach, John, was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of Vegetarianism A vegetarian diet does not consist of meat, poultry, or fish instead fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and whole grains. Depending on the person, a vegetarian diet may consist of eggs and dairy products. There are also different classifications of vegetarians. For example, lactovegetarians will consume dairy, and lacto ovovegetarians will consume both dairy and eggs. Lastly, semivegetarians will consume fish but no meat or poultry. It is not known when vegetarianism started, but oldest record dates to the 6th century BC in Europe. A group of religious followers of the Orphic mysteries banned sacrificing animals and the consumption of any animal product. In Greece, Pythagoras was developing ideas that linked meat consumption and reincarnation, and this ultimately caused some to avoid consuming meat. This lead to a phenomenon called that Pythagorean way of life which was practiced by other philosophers and writers until the 19th century. The reasons for switching to a vegetarian diet was similar to some mentioned today. The ancient Greeks believed that like humans, animals could communicate and think, and humans were responsible to care for the animals. In addition, the Greeks believed that consuming meat was impacted the mind and health. This lead them to think that a plant based diet cleansed the soul and aligned them closer to god. There are no data recorded about vegetarianism after the 6th century BC. The next known period dates to 1847 when the first vegetarian society ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Were The Patriots And Loyalists Justified In the past, while learning about the American Revolution I had always thought of America as a united front. The war between the Patriots and Loyalists could even be compared to the war between America and Britain. The Patriots were not justified in abusing and expelling the Loyalists. In the actions the Patriots took against the Loyalists, they violated their unalienable rights, these actions also allowed for history to repeat itself through the civil war in 1861. The Patriots fought for an admirable cause, as stated in the Declaration of Independence they believed in fighting for the unalienable rights: that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (Ford.153). Both conflicts began in a similar fashion. In both situations, a party felt like they were being muffled by the government. In response to their feelings, both groups of rebels decided that they could survive on their own. This caused friction within both parties and a disconnect between the government and those who thoroughly believed in its practice and the governed and those who believed that there was more that could be done. While some believed that it was best to see the government through, it is understandable to see where some might find it more appealing to demand change. It is interesting to ponder an alternate end to the American Revolution, while an accent might be nice, we would live in world where even the simplest necessities would be heavily taxed and America would no longer be a safe haven for those seeking life, love and the pursuit of happiness, like Thomas Paine stated in Common Sense This new world hath been the asylum for the persecuted lovers of civil and religious liberty from every part of Europe (Paine.150). Yet, when our canine companions get sick, or hurt, or inevitably grow old and they die, what happens? If Spot was lucky, he might get buried in the back yard inside an old shoebox or crate, wrapped in an old towel or blanket, with some dirt thrown on him. Before long his shallow grave will be overgrown by grass and dandelions and prickles. All it will take is one quick swipe of a lawnmower and any trace of your beloved pet will be gone forever. As much as we love our pets and rely on domesticated animals for food and for other goods, they are essentially disposable. We are a society that flushes our dead goldfish down the drain. Not so in Egypt. While the ancient Egyptians exploited a variety of animals, the animal kingdom was closely integrated into their culture, especially when it came to their funerary practices. There is evidence of ritualized animal burial from Predynastic times onward. At the graveyard in Heliopolis dogs and goats were buried in a nearly 1:4 ratio to human beings. Dukkha from the experience of change is never ending; it is inevitable. This is a type of cycle; everything is always going to change. Under this broad category of suffering, there is change from a family member leaving home to walking out into the cold (Jeffreys, 2/11). It is any type of change, large or small. Often times these changes are ones that people consider miniscule. A very relatable example of this would be when an individual sits in the same seat every day, and one day the individual is forced to change seats. In the Buddhist explanation this is dukkha; this is suffering. The third type of suffering is dukkha from the resistance of change. Humans are creatures of habit. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now envision that same world where instead of working together, robots and humans are at war because of robotic rights. Both worlds are equally possible depending on what people decide to do with robots. If A.I. never receives rights, the second scenario may very well happen, but if they are given rights, scenario one may happen. In a world where technology is rapidly advancing, A.I. is becoming more intelligent everyday. Some day in the near future robots will exist that can walk, talk, and even dance in the human world. With A.I., a person can t look into their box of consciousness to see if they too have a beetle. Alex Knapp, an Associate Editor for Forbes, poses an interesting question: If an AI can t alter the rules its creator set up for his behavior, purpose, etc., is it really conscious in the same way that humans are? (Knapp 10). People can t determine if A.I. are conscious the same way people are if they can t change their programming because humans, from birth, are programmed to do certain tasks. These are called instincts. The robots programming is just their instincts making them the same as people and making it impossible to determine their consciousness. All three datas point to humans not being able to tell whether or not A.I. have consciousness and if humans cannot decide if an A.I. is conscious, then there is no reason they should keep A.I. away from human rights. Humans have the right to explore where they came from and their beliefs, why they re alive and who they are, so there isn t any reason A.I. shouldn t be able to do the same. The second reason A.I. deserve rights is because technology is rapidly advancing faster than ever before. In every sci fi story, robots have always aided humans with everyday tasks. Scarlet Letter Transcendentalism Essay As a transcendentalist, writing typically comes from a rebellious opinion or point of view, and in this case, given that at this time it was the rise of the era of romantics, their focus was romance. Although Nathaniel Hawthorne was a transcendentalist of this time, he did write pieces with main focuses of dark romance. Hawthorne, unlike other writers of his time, would write about the imperfections and vices that come with romance. One of his most famous works, The Scarlet Letter, is set and influenced by a time in Puritan history called the Salem Witch Trials. The Puritans believed that the purpose of their strict beliefs was to create an example as to what a strong religious community should look like. They aimed to be role models for those who did not follow the Puritan ways ( The Scarlet Letter: Nathaniel 317). The Scarlet Letter starts out with Hester Prynne, the main character, standing on a stage in the middle of her village waiting to be punished for her crime of adultery. The reason why Hester received her punishment for her crime in front of the whole town is because this was the custom in which Puritans believed successful. The Puritans believed that public humiliation was the most effect punishment there was. In response to Hester s defiance, the Puritans thought it was best for her to be punished in the most effective way as possible (Moss and Wilson 355). One of the main reasons why Hester Prynne was punished and humiliated so greatly was because of the fact that adultery was in fact a new crime. There are multiple stereotypes and women are expected to adhere to the patriarchal rules that are forced upon them. When the women do not adhere to these rules, they are ultimately punished by Shakespeare by being killed. All the women in this play are portrayed as weak and unable to protect themselves against the men. The nature of women is portrayed once again as the weaker sex. Women were ultimately unable to protect themselves from the men, and this caused the men to be extremely dominant, aggressive, and assert their authority. Desdemona was a very feminine woman. She was extremely obedient and this caused the men to be even more dominant. She was also a very passive woman which ended up being a curse to her in the end. Othello gets very jealous and hits Desdemona. Since she is the weaker sex according to Shakespeare, she cannot defend herself against Othello because she is not equipped or prepared to do so. Desdemona is depicted in a stereotypical way, and Othello sees her in that way as well. Everything she does strengthens his belief in the stereotype. This stereotype is used as an excuse for the harsh treatment that Desdemona receives, and she is portrayed as the one who is at fault. In this specific scene, Winston, the protagonist of the novel, had just gotten captured after the Thought Police had found out that he was having thoughts of being against the inner party. • 36. Persuasive Essay On Choices In Life I believe that everyone in this life has choices. The choices we make define who we are as people and what we stand for. Choosing one path over another may be the best or worst decision you could ever make. However, once you have chosen, stick to your decision because you made that choice for a reason. Even if it is to have lunch at a certain restaurant over another, or a bigger decision like choosing your major. Something in your life helped you make that decision, and the worst thing you can do is live your life with the regret of a choice. If your decision ends up badly, simply make another choice. Choose a new path. In the words of my oh so wise History teacher, Never second guess yourself because that s worse than making the wrong choice in the end. One of the best examples that comes to mind is a story I heard a few weeks ago, based on a real event. In 1979, a man named Lee Strobel and his family went to a restaurant one evening and he gave his 7 year old daughter a nickel to get a gumball from the machine and a few moments later, she came back to the table choking on the gum. They didn t know what to do and if they waited for an ambulance they feared it would be too late. All of a sudden, a woman came up and said that she is a nurse and can help. The woman, after getting the gumball out of the little girl, told her parents that her and her husband were headed to another restaurant when all of a sudden she made a last minute choice to go here. Because of her choice, a little girl s life was saved. Hearing stories such as this one, reminds me of all of the choices I have made, and how they have affected me. When I was 6, my family up and moved to a new school called Knox County. I loved it there for I had so many friends and nothing bad ever happened. Then at the end of 5th grade, my dad got a new job so we moved schools again. This time I was 11 and starting middle school at a small school called Pilot Grove, and I ve been here ever since. Many people are unaware of how harmful deforestation can be towards the environment and the animals that inhabit the area. Many people don t even know what deforestation is and that it s actually happening. To sum it all up, deforestation is the process of destroying forests by cutting them down or burning the trees down, destroying hundreds of acres in order to make more land available for other uses thinking that the benefits outweigh the costs. It would not be an 80 degree night, no, more like a 68 degree night, where all you need is warm sweater to shelter your kidneys. No wind, no rain, just the empty air. You and I and the empty air. As much as we adored hanging out during the shinning days, we always favored the night. The night had more intimate and exclusive qualities. The night has a misty glow that makes the world shine in a way that the sun fails to achieve. The night conceals itself behind an unlit cloak and requires effort to unravel the true beauty underneath. That s how it feels existing around you. Each click lets everyone know that I am not ashamed of who I am around you. However, your shoes would not make any noise. They never do. We would walk through the city every night at the same pace.
