Applying Project Management Body Of Knowledge
When applying project management body of knowledge (PMBOK) when designing a contractual
framework for a Division within the community college environment, several barriers exist when
creating an effective and efficient specialized training contractual model. Through reflective reasoning
and the review of former contracts, the Division identify and create a best practice system which will
require gathering past and present shared knowledge of those who have encountered the same
challenges with contractual development and implementation. In addition, the research will derive
from archived documents, that allows the merging of differing ideas and frameworks with current best
practices. Providing a sound structure of a researched and effective quality system model, thus
creating a working system for each constituency within the identified Division. The dissertation seek
to show how the collaboration of different, more efficient models, will therefore create a cyclical
method for contracting within the Division. While, continuous decisions are made to improve its
processes around stable business practices that provide a sound framework that is vital within the
institutions mindset (Amare, 2012). Research will then illustrate the relevance of constructing a
contract process model that gives explicit instructions, which includes standard business practice
within an institution. Concurrently, it promotes quality products and services, highlights deficiencies

Buddhism And Shinto Similarities
While I was reading these interesting stories, each story had some qualities that where similar, but
there were also many differences. Which wasn t really a huge surprise since the setting of each story
happened during different times, and on different parts of the planet. All the stories involved a special
child, and everyone knew he was gifted. A few characters in these myths have powers, but some do
not. Sikhism and Christianity seem to be based on Monotheistic viewpoint, but Buddhism and Shinto
seem to be based on a polytheistic viewpoint. Each story was either about a god, or a prophet
spreading his new found message to the people.
Buddha, Jesus, and the Kami gods where all conceived without sex. God chose Mary to bear his son
Jesus, because she was pure and holy. Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto created the Kami
gods with their powers. Buddha picked the woman who he wanted to conceive him after many
reincarnations, and entered inside her on a white elephant. Unlike Jesus, Buddha s mom died while he

Compare And Contrast Renaissance And Humanism
Renaissance, which means rebirth in French, might be defined as the awakening of art, literature,
architecture and learning in Europe between fourteenth and mid sixteenth centuries through the
contribution of classical sources. Despite the fact that it was originated in Italy, it started to spread
throughout Europe and contributed to the transition from the Medieval Age to the modern one.
Proponents of this movement emphatically connected themselves with the values of classical
antiquity, especially as seen in the recently rediscovered works of art of writing and history.
Additionally, they had a tendency to separate themselves from works written in the Middle Ages, a
historical period they looked upon rather negatively. According to them, the Middle Ages were set in
the center of two significantly profitable periods. In the same way, Humanism, which has an ideal of
placing human beings at the center of the universe rather than God, was the major intellectual
movement of the Renaissance and then it became the dominant sophisticated movement in Europe in
the 16th century. Supporters of this movement asserted that humanistic studies, comprising of the
examination and imitation of the established culture of Ancient Rome and ... Show more content on

the evolution of Renaissance humanism as a method of thinking. During this period, people actually
started to think differently and change how they thought about humanity, art, science and other fields.
Therefore, due to their spread throughout the Europe with the cultural aspects by affecting painting,
literature and science, Renaissance and Humanism had several influences on the people in terms of

The Sociological Reflection
Growing up in Vancouver, to a middle class Caucasian family there are many factors that caused me to
be the way that I am, and to have lived the life that I have. Externally, society has influenced the
directions that my life could follow. Internally, I chose to cross whichever path society threw at me.
The only way to see how I made the choices I made, and crossed the paths I crossed is by looking
through the lens of the sociological imagination. The concept of the sociological imagination was
introduced by C. Wright Mills [1916 1962] in 1959 in his paper titled: The Sociological Imagination.
Mills defined it as the vivid awareness of the relationship between experience and the wider society
(1959). The sociological imagination is the ability to construct one s personal experiences with society
at a large scale. It is the capacity to see how these interactions and situations affect and influence
different individuals from an alternate angle. The sociological imagination is of the essence of
sociology. One pathological dynamic that I believe has greatly impacted my life is ADHD. It s hard to
explain the full, true effect that ADHD has had on my life experiences, but I think by looking through
the sociological imagination, I will be able to explain growing up with ADHD, and compare it with
the many other social factors that affect me. Being from the middle class meant that I had to work my
ass off to get to where I am today, playing varsity baseball for the University of

Children of Men Film Essay
Children Of Men.
Children of Men Directed by Alfonso Cuaron. Is set in the year 2027, in a chaotic world in which
humans can no longer procreate, Theo Faron a former activist, agrees to help transport a miraculously
pregnant woman, Named Kee, to a sanctuary located out at sea, where her child s birth could help
scientists save mankind. In the film Children of Men, there are many crucial scenes to help convey the
idea of the film, however I find one of these scenes particularly important; namely the apartment
scene. In this scene Theo is being driven through the streets of London to the Ark Of Arts to visit his
cousin Nigel. The director uses a number of techniques to help portray the themes and ideas, such as
music, setting, lighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The images and lighting are similar to images that record the suffering of people during the depression
of the 1930s. However, inside the park the weather starts to brighten making everything look lush and
vibrant. It seems absurd to see such a strong contrast after passing through the imperial gates. This
brings to mind the saying The grass is always greener on the other side This helps to show how the
members of the public see this part of London as a desired thing and that everything is better, but this
saying usually ends up being false; these people still live in the same world, it is all an illusion,
Further on in the scene Theo says to his cousin Nigel, A hundred years from now, there won t be one
single sad f**k to look at any of this (meaning his apartment). What keeps you going? To which Nigel
replies You know what it is, Theo? I just don t think about it . He is just ignoring the inevitable.
Mise en scene creates a shocking impact as the viewer draws on their prior knowledge to make
connections to the symbols revealed in this sequence. As Theo crosses the bridge to the Ark of Arts,
above the Battersea power station, you can see a floating pig, reminiscent of Pink Floyd s album cover
for Animals . As Theo enters the court in the background, you can see a painting of two policemen
kissing which is quite a famous piece by the street artist Banksy. After Theo enters the apartment he is
greeted by his cousin Nigel. Behind him is

Violent Video Games And Violence Essay
Recent outbursts of violent crimes committed by youths has raised concerns as to what caused the
corruption of these minors. Of all adolescents aged 12 17, 97% play video games in some form, and of
these video games, 85% contain violence to some degree. With news covering a slue of monstrous
acts committed by children, many people began to direct the blame on violent video games. These
accusations claimed that the disturbing acts witnessed while playing video games was corrupting
youths can causing them to execute heinous crimes. However, newer, well developed ideas have
began to shift the blame from violent to video games to other extenuating circumstances. Common
misconceptions, analysis of youth crime statistics, and new scientific studies showcase how violent
video games do not cause youths to display violent and aggressive behavior.
First, misconceptions and flawed studies have guided the public into believing that video games are
the root of vicious adolescent crime. Past studies have indicated that in fact a link does exist between
violent video games and violent crime; however, these studies have apparent issues. Many of these
studies, failed to prove a legitimate cause and effect between the two variables. The largest problem is
that these studies base their findings off means of testing aggression in children that do not correspond
with violent in reality. For example, one study evaluated aggression by timing the duration in which
someone would inflict a loud noise at another person. In reality, it is extremely difficult to assess a
person s aggression in a simulated experiment that will produce legitimate results because it is not a
realistic scenario in the real world. Furthermore, the consequences of afflicting someone with a loud
sound are not equivalent to the consequences of committing a mass shooting. Another major
misconception is that school shootings are a direct effect of playing violent video games. The issue
with that philosophy is that it fails to account for other variables that can lead to violent outbursts such
as personality traits, genetics, and home environment. Overall, these misconceptions blame video
games as the sole problem, distorting the view of video games

Culture Awareness In Nigeria
Culture is defined as the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or
social group. according to Merriam Webster (2017). What does this mean to the average individual?
When surrounded by various cultures, as humans, we sometimes have tough decisions to make. You
can develop new relationships, or avoid another due to one s culture. The world is a very intriguing
place because no matter where you go, no country, state or city will be exactly the same. It is always
interesting to compare countries to America to realize how different our culture compares to others.
For example, Nigeria (when compared to the United States) is a very different place which could be a
vast culture shock to someone who is not familiar with that specific culture or society. Nigeria is
relatively small but has a population which surpasses Russia. This being said, in Nigeria the average
age is only 17.9 years old where the United States and Russia have an average age of 38 years old.
Understanding culture awareness and its effect on the way humans live can make one very successful
when they find themselves in a foreign environment.
Nigeria is small in relation to the United States of America while still being the 32nd largest nation in
the world. Despite its size Nigeria has a population of 190,632,261, according to The World Factbook
(2017), which is the seventh largest in the world. The President of Nigeria is Muhammadu Buhari who

Supply Curve Between Price And Quantity
A market is a physical place where buyers and sellers come together in one place to transact with each
other. The demand curve shows the relation between price and quantity demanded other things equal.
The supply curve shows the relation between price and quantity supplied other things equal. Where
these meet is the equilibrium. This is the output where firms should produce. A need is a necessity,
something you can t do without. A good example is food. If you don t eat, you won t survive for long.
The market is mankind s most valuable tool for meeting the needs of the people because only a market
understands the needs and wants of customers, and how these differ. They also understand the buying
behaviour of customers (why, what and how they buy) and the nature of demand in the market (how
are prices set the factors that influence the quantity of demand) A very good example for markets
meeting mankind s needs is the electronic market. They provide an easier way for start ups to enter a
national market, particularly if the business has identified a small niche segment of that market. They
tend to be highly price competitive since it is quite easy for customers to search for products from a
variety of suppliers and to compare the best prices available (just about every consumer goods market
has one or more price comparison website). They also provide things that we didn t even know we
needed for example mobile phones. Who knew 30 years ago mobile phones would have been

America And Free Speech Go Together Like Burger King

Americans and free speech go together like burger king. You can always have it your way, but at what
cost? Free speech is something that has been around for a long time, but has involved seen various
dilemmas that make you want to question it your own freedom. Although free speech was guaranteed
in the first amendment there have been many situations that in a complex way make you think about
your own rights the whole purpose of being born in the United States with them. If I was to wake up
one day decide that I wanted to freely create a protest expressing that I support gay rights or the LGBT
community then by all means I should be able to do that without any interference.
Freedom of speech is the balance between personal liberty government authority. Free speech started
began when the settlers came over to the United States from Europe made the original British colonies
(Freedom Of Speech, 2014). Because of this right being made, having the liberty of free speech means
that an individual or the press have the absolute right to talk or express their opinions freely (Freedom
Of Speech, 2014).
In the same fashion the case that I m getting ready to bring up clearly represents the purpose of having
the liberty of free speech the cost of having that. In addition, the island school district case brought up
many important questions that regard the liberty of

Analysis Of The Article 9 Of The Japanese Constitution
The reinterpretation of Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution is today a contentious issue within
Japanese society as well as in the global context. Through the reinterpretation, the Japan Self Defense
Forces (JSDF) were for the first time authorized to engage in acts of collective self defense. As
elaborated below, this occurred as a natural response to an evolving foreign policy status quo. This
paper provides a cursory overview of the post WWII history of Japan and posits that the confluence of
the rise of previously benign China along with a shifting U.S. strategy in Asia remain the principal
factors driving the constitutional reinterpretation. It is a calculated response which has caused Japan to
take a new angle in favor of increased military cooperation, a significant albeit justified break from the
pacifist connotations of Article 9. Japan s Recovery In the immediate wake of World War II, Japan
was a humiliated, devastated, and occupied state. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were leveled by the first
wartime application of nuclear weaponry in history, and Tokyo lay in ruins as a result of aerial
incendiary bombing. On September 2, 1945 the formalized Japanese Instrument of Surrender was
signed on the deck of the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay; with a stroke of a pen, one of the largest
maritime empires in history was extinguished. The island nation would for the next seven years be
subject to occupation, with government control temporarily ceded to U.S. forces under the Supreme

Mary Wollstonecraft s A Vindication of the Rights of Woman
Mary Wollstonecraft considered as a remarkable women activists and an English writer of 18th
century. In her essay, she constantly compares men and women. Her comparisons range from their
physical nature to their intelligence and even down to the education that each sex receives is
commendable. Wollstonecraft said that, In the government of the physical world it is observable that
the female in point of strength is, in general, inferior to the male (Wollstonecraft 35). She has also
revealed that women are inferior to men in physicality and a number of areas throughout the essay.
However, her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humans have been around for thousands of years, yet men still disgrace. In my point of view, she has
portrayed society as a debatable platform where is a urge to stand up for women to every women
along with men. The rights of women and their place in society have been a debate of different
degrees throughout time. As we grow up in a society and culture that raises us and educates us about
rights and wrongs and how things should be it has blinded women from their true potential and rights
as human beings. However, just like a child that learns to walk, Wollstonecraft takes the first steps
leading the ongoing prominent debate of the rights of women.
Virginia Woolf s A Room of One s Own
In Virginia Woolf s feminist essay A Room of One s Own, Woolf argues that, a woman must have
money and a room of her own (16) if she is to write fiction of any value. The point as she develops it
is a perceptive one and far more layered and various in its implications than it might be at first seem.
However, I wonder if perhaps Woolf did not really hit the full power of her thesis. She recognized the
necessity of the writer s financial independence to the birth of great writing. However, she failed to
discover the true relationship to great writing of another freedom for just as economic freedom allows
one to inhabit a physical space like a room of one s individual so does mental

Public Shame And Social Media
Remember when what is now called publicity was called public shame and humiliation? (P.J. O
Rourke). The act of public shaming has been around for centuries shifting from scaffold gatherings to
hateful social media posts. This tradition being kept alive after all of this time is used purely for the
profit of the shamer. With each post comes more agony and dread for the person being shamed and
more enjoyment to the people shaming. This vicious cycle has not changed much from the onlookers
at the scaffold to the bystanders of social media who do nothing but allow for this tradition to keep
growing. The age old tradition of public shame has become like reality show engaging people in the
dire consequences of the person being shamed and their growing feelings of desolation. Public shame
directly leads to dire consequences for the person being shamed. In the article Is the Internet a Mob

Personal Note On Chinese New Year
I was back home in China celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year with my parents for the first time in 5

Since adults believed firing fireworks would bring good fortunes to the new year, the sky would be

my dad would take me on a trip looking for new fireworks. We always picked the biggest one we

the night would be interrupted by the first sound of fireworks. Following the first sound of firework,
thousands of fireworks shot up the sky and exploded into many colorful, beautiful patterns. My and I
would also light up our firework to join the party. As a kid, the sight was as splendid as it could ever

myself ready to light our fireworks. My dad looked at me curiously, and asked: Where are you going?

Mental Illness In Macbeth
Shakespeare, Browning, and Carol Ann Duffy attempt to display their characters in such ways in order
to address heavy social issues within the times in which they were alive, through various writing
techniques.
It is important that we define the term disturbed in order to answer this question to high quality
standard. An adjective that describes the symptoms of mental illness, and psychosis. All traits of
which the writers characters possess.
Shakespeare evidentially displays Macbeths committing regicide in order to address the consequences
of treason towards the reader. Regicide was considered more than just murder back in Shakespearian
time; it could be compared to killing a God. Shakespeare deservingly uses the three witches in order ...

The use of guilt and sin must have been eccentric for Shakespeare, living amongst such a religious
audience, and yet writes so powerfully to which was seen against the words of God. Macbeth s sins
plunge him into a pit of guilt, leading him to an unstable state of mind, contributing to his disturbed
mind set. This slightly contrasts to Carol Ann Duffy s Education for Leisure as the orator doesn t seem
to feel any guilt or sympathy for the sins in which he has committed, unlike Macbeth who to which
changed his attitude., One cried, God bless us! and Amen, the other, as they had seen me with these
hangman s hands. List ning their fear, I could not say Amen, when they did say God bless us .
Methought, I heard a voice cry, Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep . This quote is spoken to
which by Macbeth after he is finished murdering King Duncan, the phrase Macbeth does murder sleep
cunningly refers to how Macbeth will suffer horribly from his actions by his guilt. The insomnia that
Macbeth suffers displays how he is uncomfortable after making a decision to try and claim his
manhood. Robert Browning The laboratory contrasts immensely to Macbeth, as the orator gets

of God, Empty church, to pray God in, for them! I am here so to which, his sins have no meaning,
which means there is no barrier blocking him from gaining his pleasure from his doings. However it
does slightly link in with another one of Robert Browning s pieces Porphyria s lover , it is clearly
evident that the orator has no sympathy what so ever for his victim, which he strangles to death, seen
as one of the most painful ways to die, but in order to cover his sins he try s to persuade himself that it

Andrew Carnegie s Wealth During The Gilded Age

Cleopatra´s Life and Her Intentions
For Rome, who had never condescended to fear any nation or people, did in her time fear two human
beings; one was Hannibal, and the other was a woman (Lefkowitz and Fant 126). During a time
dominated by male rulers, Cleopatra VII Philopator (69 BCE 31 BCE), the Last Pharaoh of Egypt,
stood out among them all. With Egypt s wealth at her disposal, she was incomparably richer than
anyone else (Schiff 2). The amount of power a ruler had at the time of Cleopatra s existence depended
highly on the level of financial stability. However, wealth was not all Cleopatra was known for. She
exhibited high militant leadership skills equal to that of her male counterparts to keep Egypt a
prosperous country.

She is notably the only Ptolemy to have ever devoted herself to learn the language of her people
(Schiff 35). She was intelligent, spoke nine or ten languages (Roberts 126). As a result, she would not
need interpreters when commanding. Rather she would be able to communicate directly.
Furthermore, another influence that determined Cleopatra s rule as queen stems from her lineage. As
has been discovered, the Ptolemies, the family Cleopatra belonged to, were not Egyptian. Rather, they
were Macedonian Greek. After Alexander the Great s death in 323 BCE, his empire was divided
among his generals (Harold, Anton, Duca, Henefin 28). Ptolemy Soler I claimed Egypt and thus the
Ptolemaic Dynasty flourished. However, it has been noted that during the reign of the first three
Ptolemaic Pharaohs had Egypt prospered (Harold, et. al 28). Thereafter, Cleopatra, daughter to
Ptolemy XII Auletes and possibly Cleopatra V Tryphaena of Egypt, inherited an Egypt in decline
(Harold, et al 28).
Yet, it was not until after the death of her father in 51 BCE that Cleopatra ascended to the throne and
married with her brother Ptolemy XIII, who was ten at the time. The marriage happened as per
Egyptian custom and as instructed in her father s will (Roberts 126). Although Cleopatra was married
to her brother, a male with inherent power in the Egyptian culture, he was kept firmly in the
background (Roberts 126). With the opportunity granted to her by her father s death, she made

Persuasive Essay On Society Hacking
Have you ever had your phone or computer hacked before? I know I have, and many times it happens
without me even realizing it. In today s society hacking has become so easy that even the most
inexperienced hackers can manage to steal your private data. This is one of my main reasons for not
supporting electronic voting machines (EVMs). I feel that in addition to the security and integrity of

hacking has truly evolved from these types of attacks and have made cyber security even more

Three Important Aspects Of Applying For College
As a senior in high school about to graduate and start my college career I will tell you that I was
unprepared and applying for college. I wish more people had told me the importance of applying early
to college because even though I got into my first choice college is always great to have extra backup
plans. I did receive some help in applying for college through my school as well as my parents.
However if I receive more help I would have had more applications turned in. Three important aspects
of applying to college are the applications themselves, letters of recommendation, and the ACT/SAT
tests.
The SAT/ACT are required by most if not all colleges. You can begin SSAT testing during your junior
year and all throughout the application process. It is best to start during your junior year because this
allows you to take the test multiple times in case your scores are the best. I highly recommend taking
both tests at least once and a test you feel stronger about take multiple times. Certain colleges
superscore tha SAT/ACT test. This means that they take the best score out of each subject. For
instance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Letters of recommendation can be given in by teachers coaches or administrators in the school, but
others are allowed. I apply to the Naval Academy so for one of my letters of recommendation I had an
interview with the Admiral on base, and he worte a letter for me. The point of a letter of
recommendation is to give the colleges in sight of the applicant because in your application you don t
usually talk about yourself unless you are writing an essay. You usually want to have your application
done by a teacher who knows a good amount about you so your college choice can see why you would
be a great student at their college. The easiest way to get your letters of recommendation for college
with to have them sent over the same time you send your high school transcripts

Using A Computer For The Assignments
Before this quarter, I preferred to use a pen and paper when I wrote, but I had to use a computer for
the assignments in this class. By taking this class, I discovered the advantages of using a computer,
and now I am use it more.
I loved writing about my thoughts or feelings about things that happened to me. But I had a good
involvement various kinds of writing from this class: descriptive writing, visual analysis, problem
solution essay, wide repertoire of read and respond etc. I enjoyed the writing assignments the most of .
Especially when I wrote the descriptive writing, it was good to make a 5 sences chart for the place. I
felt as if I was a novelist. In my Korean version, I wrote more stories and details, but I had to cut these
because of difficulty to translate. (I m sorry, I couldn t approve it for you. You should learn Korean.)
Also, visual analysis work was meaningful to me. I have envied Sister Wendy s knowledge of art and
her extraordinary ability to explain a work of art. This assignment gave me an experience to learn
about visual art analysis like her a little.
And I have to say about the thesis . Thesis statement structure was not familiar to me. But I found that
thesis mastatement made a convenient structure of the paper to understand for the readers, also not to
wander out of the topic for the writers. In spite of, I felt that It seemed me to tie in the structure
mechanically. So I was very struggled to follow instruction to write the thesis

Examples Of Cultural Diverse Dances
Cultural Diverse Dances The culture diverse dances represent people s identity throughout different
places in the world. Several authors discussed how culturally diverse dances would help people to
keep their culture based on movement, posture, gesture, and rhythm. Warta (2010) discussed both
tradition and modern forms of choreography dance, which celebrates the Samoan culture. Samoan
people always focus on three main components of life, the faith, family, and especially music, which
tell the story of the Samoan people. Stanley (2009) emphasizes the traditional dances of the Tongan
people which are stories sung by the singers and acted out by the dancers. It is similar to Samoan

Warta (2010) discussed how each Samoan dance was formed, and how it became their traditional
dances. For example, the sasa which is known as the clap dance where men clap their hands and slap
their chests, legs, and arms in a synchronized rhythm. This was the dance that began as a functional
way to swat back mosquitos and later turned into a traditional form of movement. Stanley (2009)
shared how Samoa represented words through movement of the hands and feet, and not the hips. This
is why every time they dance; every action represents words or lyrics of the song. Traditional Tongan
dances are stories sung by the singers and acted out by the dancers (Stanley, 2009). These stories are
either about the Christian missionaries or the king of Tongan. One of the Tongan traditional dances is
called lakalaka where it requires everyone to stand and dance. It begins slowly but builds to a
rhythmic finish. Now comes the Hawaiian dance where hula is their traditional dance, and it is steeped
in ancient traditions with a fascinating and intricate history that is only made more intriguing give the
storytelling element of the different dances (Gibbs, 2015). Hula dance is a beloved and cherished
cultural tradition on the Hawaiian Islands. It requires dancers to move their hips, not like the Samoan
and Tongan, which they don t. Different hula dances are not only about the story of different islands
and their beauty, the exploits of royalty, people of those islands, major events, and travelers, but also
about honoring the chief or monarch (Hula Alii), animals (Hula Holoholona), Goddess of fire,
lightning, wind, and volcanoes (Hula Pele), and to the western who came to the

Response to Tracy Chapman, Cold Feet
Reading Response 3 Title: Cold Feet Author: Tracy Chapman Category: Song Lyrics The song Cold
Feet by Tracy Chapman is an inspirational song about how our wants and needs can drive us to not
only success but also to our graves. The song which was released in 1995 describes the story of how
one man had everything he could have dreamt for in life, love, a roof over his head and a loving wife.
But naturally in the society we live in not only today in the 21st century but also the society that was
mid 1990 s, man desire more to satisfy themselves and others around them. Initially he wanted to give

The song Cold Feet is an artistic way of explaining exactly what can happen when one gets too greedy
with their life and desires more to show their worth. In the song, Tracy describes of how man always
wants to be an honest man and this is shown within the verse of He d struggled all his life to be an
honest man, Proud that the dirt on his palms was the soil of the land, but some guys he knew from
high school days said they had a plan to get rich quick . This I certainly can relate to as I always want
others to be proud of me and proud of what I have achieved in my life so far. If I feel that I have not
fulfilled this, then I will work harder to show them that they should be proud. When I first heard this
song, I was at a very young age and did not understand what the warning that the lyrics were telling. I
continued to work for peoples approval and would do anything to do so, including wanting everything
from the sun and moon . It wasn t until listening to the song as a Year 12 student that I was able to
understand the meaning behind the lyrics. After listening to the song numerous times, I have now
learnt valuable lessons about the life I have been gifted with. I have learnt that striving to succeed the

Sociologists of Science Essay
The ethos of science was always been about seeking for the truth. Ptolemy wanted to know what was
in the heavens. Newton wanted to know about motion and force. Einstein wanted to know about
protons and relativity. These scientists and many others have always had that pure desire of wanting to
learn the truth about what they were interested. However, if we were to examine the present, scientists
today are struggling not because of their truth seeking journeys but because of the need to produce
results so that they can still have the opportunity of keeping their jobs researching the subjects that
they have researching for the past few years. In today s lab, we see researchers scrounging around for
grant money and yelling on the phone with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Merton believed that communalism, universalism, disinterestedness, and organized skepticism should
be the standards that produce good scientific evidence. Communalism is the idea is that all theories
should be commonly owned by all scientists and the original discoverer should trade the theory for
fame and recognition. Communalism is the thinking that a discovery should not be an individual s but
rather the discovery and its products should be shared among the scientific community. Universalism
is the idea that all scientific claims should not be judged based upon the discoverer s race, class,
gender, religion, or nationality, etc. This idea omits favoritism and discrimination and produces an
impartial platform for all scientists and their findings. Disinterestedness is the notion that good
scientists must act unselfish when judging or creating a new theory. This thought is necessary because
there would be too much bias within the theory if the scientist acted in a selfish manner, such as
choosing only data that suspiciously match with one s hypotheses. Finally, organized skepticism is the
opinion that good scientists must test and scrutinize thoroughly new theories before they become
accepted by the scientific community. These scientific norms sieve out the imperfections of theories to
bring forth the most suitable for the community. Let us use Aristarchus heliocentric theory as an
example to understand the effects of Merton s

Reflection About Friendship
My partner, Naeem Mohammad, and I met on December 9. During our last meeting together, we
drove around St. Louis and had dinner at Raising Cane s, while talking about college system and
family. Again, Naeem has greatly improved his English since our last meeting on November 18th. We
were able to talk more in detail about the Saudi Arabian college system and family back in Saudi
Arabia. This parallels a development breakthrough in my revival of Chinese: Siri can recognize me
speaking in Chinese. While not something I should be particularly proud of, I can make this
connection between this and development of Naeem s language throughout the semester. He can hold
longer conversations, and his vocabulary has improved to the point where he told me that he can skip
a level of English. This reminds me of being able to understand one s strengths and weaknesses,
because it can make a difference in how one approach life. This is key when we discussed the above
topics, where I rarely had to help him finish his sentences and can describe situations well. Speaking
of which, as Naeem drove me around St. Louis, we talked about the financial aid system at SLU and
the college system in Saudi Arabia, where I told him about 97% of the students here receive grants,
loans, and work study. In contrast, he told me that not only Saudi Arabian college is free, but students
also receive a $300 allowance per month. This is reminiscent of when my father went to college after
the universities in China opened after the Cultural Revolution, where tuition, and room and board
were free, and they also give a sum of money. In education in Saudi Arabia, Naeem attributes this to
not many people decide to continue with college, and I can attest that to China as well, where
education today is compulsory until the 9th grade. I perceived the initiative Naeem talked about back
in Saudi Arabia to improve the access of education to more people. It intrigues me how Saudi
Arabians approach education differently how the United States approach it. As I am going into the
medical field, I would want to note the differences in how I approach healthcare. It is not a business; it
s a universal right. I don t want to get involved with red tape and hidden

Tesco Case Study
. Tesco has been recognized as a top brand because it has learned how to effectively satisfy consumer
needs while adopting new techniques in their stores giving them a competitive advantage over their
competition. In the beginning Tesco founder Cohen started as a small stall owner and quickly rose and
was operating in 100 stores by 1939. In mid 1930 s Cohen traveled to the US and encountered the self
service system implemented in the US stores and by 1947 he had implemented the same system in
many of his smaller Tesco stores. The self service system was successful and helped to gain more
costumers to Tesco and its brand. Tesco continued to grow and added a variety of stores including
Tesco Metro, Tesco Express, Tesco Superstore, Tesco Extra and Tesco Home plus. These different
stores were individually created to reach the needs of a specific consumer demographic. Some of the
stores were created to satisfy the needs of consumers that lived in urban locations while other stores
were mainly focused on satisfying inner city consumer needs. Tesco has also been successful because
they have been able to expand internationally while still reaching different consumer needs. Tesco
realized that there was a need for grocery retailers in Eastern Europe and Asia. Tesco purchased and
established ownership of 51% of 23 chain in Hungary which made Tesco the country s second largest
retailer and continued to purchase many stores totaling 949 in 13 countries, including 370 superstores

The Legalization Of Birth Control
Griswold vs. Connecticut The legalization of Birth Control Ashley Barreras August 10, 2015 Political
Science Imagine living in a world where birth control did not exist or was considered illegal to all
women. This is the reality that women from our history dealt with for many years. Until the year 1965
birth control was banned for women living in the state of Connecticut. Whether married or unmarried
the simple right of contraception, or asking a pharmacist about preventing pregnancy was illegal. This
law prohibiting the practice of contraception was changed with the help of birth control activist such
as Estelle Griswold. Griswold appealed the law in the popularly known case of Griswold vs.
Connecticut. Her claim for legalized birth control helped changed the future for women living in the
state of Connecticut. The revised law gave married women the freedom and privacy to take charge of
their bodies and prevent unwanted pregnancies with the practice of birth control. Birth control was
illegal in the state of Connecticut until the 1960s. The reasoning behind prohibiting any form of
contraception was influenced by Protestant moral reformers as well as middle class women from
the1870s. The leader of the purity movement was Anthony Comstock who was a Postal Inspector and
responsible for most of the anti contraception laws. Together he worked with other activist and created
a social purity movement that assisted to outlaw the ideas of contraception. These activist

Moving Across The Country Essay
Changes in life are just there, some you can predict and others you can t. Sometimes changes are huge
and others are not. Some sudden changes in life are moving across the country, your mom and dad
remarrying and women starting to become equal to men. Moving across the country is an enormous
change to someone s life. I my personal experience moving across the country is hard. Especially,
when you go from the country to the city as I did. I had to go to a new school, get new friends, and
here about things that I really didn t know how to deal with. It was like hitting rock bottom after you
just got to the top. This shows how moving to one place can make you feel horrible for no reason what
so ever. I had to reinvent myself from country girl to city girl it was exhausting. This proves how hard
it was to change because you are so used to being completely different. Moving across the country is a
big change and it can be hard. When your mom and dad remarry it is a change you just have to deal,
but it s harder to be happy when you don t like who they married. From my personal experience of my

Kristallnacht Informative Essay
On January 30, 1933, one of the most horrible events occurred. Everyone knows this day as the
beginning of The Holocaust. The Holocaust is one of the most horrific genocides. During The
Holocaust, six million Jewish people got murdered by Nazis. Men, women, and even children died. I
want to discuss this event in history. But there are also other events in history that are like The
Holocaust. Things like antisemitism, racism, and bullying, which are real issues as well. Today, I will
be discussing these problems, as well as discuss how you can stop it as a group, individual, and as a
nation.
On November 9, 1938, Kristallnacht occurred, it was a horrific day for European Jews. Kristallnacht
means The Night of Broken Glass.¨ On that night Jewish people got beaten and killed, their homes got

How Isabel Archer A Dynamic Character
She thinks she knows a great deal of it [the world] like most American girls; but like most American
girls she s ridiculously mistaken, said Lydia Touchett, a character in Henry James s novel The Portrait
of a Lady, when she described her niece, Isabel Archer (56). Throughout this novel James wrote Ms.
Archer as an extremely dynamic character, he allowed for the reader to feel as if they stood next to her
in her best times and her worst and through all the obstacles she encountered and all the experiences
that matured her. He used his connotation in a way that vividly illustrated what occurred and created a
tone that developed and changed, and in doing so James was able to brilliantly depict Isabel Archer
maturing from a young naive American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She took the input of others for granted and relied too much on her own limited knowledge of the
world. Isabel was probably very liable to the sin of self esteem; she often surveyed with complacency
the field of her own nature; she was in the habit of taking for granted, on scanty evidence, that she was
right, (James 63 64). She was very conscious of who she was before her marriage, she was so used to
being right that when her family offered her advice that she was not in favor of she completely
disregarded it. Isabel knew what she wanted and had a strong belief that her knowledge would never
steer her wrong, but the deterioration of her marriage was destroying her. Isabel lost much of her
confidence in her choices and lost sight of who she was, she became cynical, her humor had lately
turned a good deal to sarcasm, the complete opposite of the young optimistic girl the reader had come
to know, she had lost her naivety and greatly matured (James 429). Isabel showed her maturity by
standing by her choices until the very end of the novel, and slowly gaining the courage to choose her
responsibilities over her happiness. Her internal debate peaked and concluded after she fled to
England where she ultimately came to the realization that before she could be truly happy she had to
resolve what she left in Rome, she had responsibilities and would no longer flee from

Essay On The Sandman
The Sandman, A Hand crafted Nightmare A bedtime story is meant to guide children into a peaceful
sleep. That, however, is not the case when one talks about Paul Berry s The Sandman. According to a
friend of his, the late internationally respected animator Paul Berry started his career in his home
country the United Kingdom. There, he had worked on The Wind in The Willows and The Fool of the
World, done solely in stop motion. His Oscar nominated short The Sandman placed his name onto the
global stage and led him to many opportunities oversea, including a position in Nightmare Before
Christmas production team. Since its release in 1992, The Sandman had become the recipient and
winner of many film awards around the world (Purves). With its story based on E.T.A. Hoffmenn s
novella Der Sandmann (Willig), the magical nighttime fairy is not what viewers typically know him
for. A dark twist to a gentle bedtime story, combined with clever use of color and distinctive style,
turned The Sandman into a great piece of stop motion animation still known and enjoyed by animators
today. The Sandman, contrary to its name, is not your usual folklore. As film critic Caren Willig noted,

Compare And Contrast Renaissance And Humanism Renaissance, which means rebirth in French, might be defined as the awakening of art, literature, architecture and learning in Europe between fourteenth and mid sixteenth centuries through the contribution of classical sources. Despite the fact that it was originated in Italy, it started to spread throughout Europe and contributed to the transition from the Medieval Age to the modern one. Proponents of this movement emphatically connected themselves with the values of classical antiquity, especially as seen in the recently rediscovered works of art of writing and history. The only way to see how I made the choices I made, and crossed the paths I crossed is by looking through the lens of the sociological imagination. The concept of the sociological imagination was introduced by C. Wright Mills [1916 1962] in 1959 in his paper titled: The Sociological Imagination. Mills defined it as the vivid awareness of the relationship between experience and the wider society (1959). The sociological imagination is the ability to construct one s personal experiences with society at a large scale. It is the capacity to see how these interactions and situations affect and influence different individuals from an alternate angle. The sociological imagination is of the essence of sociology. One pathological dynamic that I believe has greatly impacted my life is ADHD. It s hard to explain the full, true effect that ADHD has had on my life experiences, but I think by looking through the sociological imagination, I will be able to explain growing up with ADHD, and compare it with the many other social factors that affect me. Is set in the year 2027, in a chaotic world in which humans can no longer procreate, Theo Faron a former activist, agrees to help transport a miraculously pregnant woman, Named Kee, to a sanctuary located out at sea, where her child s birth could help scientists save mankind. In the film Children of Men, there are many crucial scenes to help convey the idea of the film, however I find one of these scenes particularly important; namely the apartment scene. In this scene Theo is being driven through the streets of London to the Ark Of Arts to visit his cousin Nigel. However, inside the park the weather starts to brighten making everything look lush and vibrant. It seems absurd to see such a strong contrast after passing through the imperial gates. This brings to mind the saying The grass is always greener on the other side This helps to show how the members of the public see this part of London as a desired thing and that everything is better, but this saying usually ends up being false; these people still live in the same world, it is all an illusion, Further on in the scene Theo says to his cousin Nigel, A hundred years from now, there won t be one single sad f**k to look at any of this (meaning his apartment). What keeps you going? To which Nigel replies You know what it is, Theo? I just don t think about it . He is just ignoring the inevitable. Mise en scene creates a shocking impact as the viewer draws on their prior knowledge to make connections to the symbols revealed in this sequence. As Theo crosses the bridge to the Ark of Arts, above the Battersea power station, you can see a floating pig, reminiscent of Pink Floyd s album cover for Animals . • 9. Violent Video Games And Violence Essay Recent outbursts of violent crimes committed by youths has raised concerns as to what caused the corruption of these minors. Of all adolescents aged 12 17, 97% play video games in some form, and of these video games, 85% contain violence to some degree. With news covering a slue of monstrous acts committed by children, many people began to direct the blame on violent video games. These accusations claimed that the disturbing acts witnessed while playing video games was corrupting youths can causing them to execute heinous crimes. However, newer, well developed ideas have began to shift the blame from violent to video games to other extenuating circumstances. Common misconceptions, analysis of youth crime statistics, and new scientific studies showcase how violent video games do not cause youths to display violent and aggressive behavior. First, misconceptions and flawed studies have guided the public into believing that video games are the root of vicious adolescent crime. Past studies have indicated that in fact a link does exist between violent video games and violent crime; however, these studies have apparent issues. Many of these studies, failed to prove a legitimate cause and effect between the two variables. The largest problem is that these studies base their findings off means of testing aggression in children that do not correspond with violent in reality. For example, one study evaluated aggression by timing the duration in which someone would inflict a loud noise at another person. In reality, it is extremely difficult to assess a person s aggression in a simulated experiment that will produce legitimate results because it is not a realistic scenario in the real world. Furthermore, the consequences of afflicting someone with a loud sound are not equivalent to the consequences of committing a mass shooting. Another major misconception is that school shootings are a direct effect of playing violent video games. The issue with that philosophy is that it fails to account for other variables that can lead to violent outbursts such as personality traits, genetics, and home environment. Overall, these misconceptions blame video games as the sole problem, distorting the view of video games ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What does this mean to the average individual? When surrounded by various cultures, as humans, we sometimes have tough decisions to make. You can develop new relationships, or avoid another due to one s culture. The world is a very intriguing place because no matter where you go, no country, state or city will be exactly the same. It is always interesting to compare countries to America to realize how different our culture compares to others. For example, Nigeria (when compared to the United States) is a very different place which could be a vast culture shock to someone who is not familiar with that specific culture or society. Nigeria is relatively small but has a population which surpasses Russia. This being said, in Nigeria the average age is only 17.9 years old where the United States and Russia have an average age of 38 years old. Understanding culture awareness and its effect on the way humans live can make one very successful when they find themselves in a foreign environment. Nigeria is small in relation to the United States of America while still being the 32nd largest nation in the world. • 11. Supply Curve Between Price And Quantity A market is a physical place where buyers and sellers come together in one place to transact with each other. The demand curve shows the relation between price and quantity demanded other things equal. The supply curve shows the relation between price and quantity supplied other things equal. Where these meet is the equilibrium. This is the output where firms should produce. A need is a necessity, something you can t do without. A good example is food. If you don t eat, you won t survive for long. The market is mankind s most valuable tool for meeting the needs of the people because only a market understands the needs and wants of customers, and how these differ. They also understand the buying behaviour of customers (why, what and how they buy) and the nature of demand in the market (how are prices set the factors that influence the quantity of demand) A very good example for markets meeting mankind s needs is the electronic market. They provide an easier way for start ups to enter a national market, particularly if the business has identified a small niche segment of that market. They tend to be highly price competitive since it is quite easy for customers to search for products from a variety of suppliers and to compare the best prices available (just about every consumer goods market has one or more price comparison website). Through the reinterpretation, the Japan Self Defense Forces (JSDF) were for the first time authorized to engage in acts of collective self defense. As elaborated below, this occurred as a natural response to an evolving foreign policy status quo. This paper provides a cursory overview of the post WWII history of Japan and posits that the confluence of the rise of previously benign China along with a shifting U.S. strategy in Asia remain the principal factors driving the constitutional reinterpretation. It is a calculated response which has caused Japan to take a new angle in favor of increased military cooperation, a significant albeit justified break from the pacifist connotations of Article 9. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were leveled by the first wartime application of nuclear weaponry in history, and Tokyo lay in ruins as a result of aerial incendiary bombing. Communalism is the idea is that all theories should be commonly owned by all scientists and the original discoverer should trade the theory for fame and recognition. Communalism is the thinking that a discovery should not be an individual s but rather the discovery and its products should be shared among the scientific community. Universalism is the idea that all scientific claims should not be judged based upon the discoverer s race, class, gender, religion, or nationality, etc. This idea omits favoritism and discrimination and produces an impartial platform for all scientists and their findings. Disinterestedness is the notion that good scientists must act unselfish when judging or creating a new theory. This thought is necessary because there would be too much bias within the theory if the scientist acted in a selfish manner, such as choosing only data that suspiciously match with one s hypotheses. Finally, organized skepticism is the opinion that good scientists must test and scrutinize thoroughly new theories before they become accepted by the scientific community. These scientific norms sieve out the imperfections of theories to bring forth the most suitable for the community. Let us use Aristarchus heliocentric theory as an example to understand the effects of Merton s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Reflection About Friendship My partner, Naeem Mohammad, and I met on December 9. During our last meeting together, we drove around St. Louis and had dinner at Raising Cane s, while talking about college system and family. Again, Naeem has greatly improved his English since our last meeting on November 18th. We were able to talk more in detail about the Saudi Arabian college system and family back in Saudi Arabia. This parallels a development breakthrough in my revival of Chinese: Siri can recognize me speaking in Chinese. While not something I should be particularly proud of, I can make this connection between this and development of Naeem s language throughout the semester. He can hold longer conversations, and his vocabulary has improved to the point where he told me that he can skip a level of English. This reminds me of being able to understand one s strengths and weaknesses, because it can make a difference in how one approach life. This is key when we discussed the above topics, where I rarely had to help him finish his sentences and can describe situations well. Speaking of which, as Naeem drove me around St. Louis, we talked about the financial aid system at SLU and the college system in Saudi Arabia, where I told him about 97% of the students here receive grants, loans, and work study. In contrast, he told me that not only Saudi Arabian college is free, but students also receive a $300 allowance per month. This is reminiscent of when my father went to college after the universities in China opened after the Cultural Revolution, where tuition, and room and board were free, and they also give a sum of money. In education in Saudi Arabia, Naeem attributes this to not many people decide to continue with college, and I can attest that to China as well, where education today is compulsory until the 9th grade. I perceived the initiative Naeem talked about back in Saudi Arabia to improve the access of education to more people. It intrigues me how Saudi Arabians approach education differently how the United States approach it. As I am going into the medical field, I would want to note the differences in how I approach healthcare. It is not a business; it s a universal right. I don t want to get involved with red tape and hidden ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Tesco Case Study . Tesco has been recognized as a top brand because it has learned how to effectively satisfy consumer needs while adopting new techniques in their stores giving them a competitive advantage over their competition. In the beginning Tesco founder Cohen started as a small stall owner and quickly rose and was operating in 100 stores by 1939. In mid 1930 s Cohen traveled to the US and encountered the self service system implemented in the US stores and by 1947 he had implemented the same system in many of his smaller Tesco stores. The self service system was successful and helped to gain more costumers to Tesco and its brand. Tesco continued to grow and added a variety of stores including Tesco Metro, Tesco Express, Tesco Superstore, Tesco Extra and Tesco Home plus. These different stores were individually created to reach the needs of a specific consumer demographic. Some of the stores were created to satisfy the needs of consumers that lived in urban locations while other stores were mainly focused on satisfying inner city consumer needs. Tesco has also been successful because they have been able to expand internationally while still reaching different consumer needs. Tesco realized that there was a need for grocery retailers in Eastern Europe and Asia. Tesco purchased and established ownership of 51% of 23 chain in Hungary which made Tesco the country s second largest retailer and continued to purchase many stores totaling 949 in 13 countries, including 370 superstores by ... • 31. The Legalization Of Birth Control Griswold vs. Connecticut The legalization of Birth Control Ashley Barreras August 10, 2015 Political Science Imagine living in a world where birth control did not exist or was considered illegal to all women. This is the reality that women from our history dealt with for many years. Until the year 1965 birth control was banned for women living in the state of Connecticut. Whether married or unmarried the simple right of contraception, or asking a pharmacist about preventing pregnancy was illegal. This law prohibiting the practice of contraception was changed with the help of birth control activist such as Estelle Griswold. Griswold appealed the law in the popularly known case of Griswold vs. Connecticut. Her claim for legalized birth control helped changed the future for women living in the state of Connecticut. The revised law gave married women the freedom and privacy to take charge of their bodies and prevent unwanted pregnancies with the practice of birth control. Birth control was illegal in the state of Connecticut until the 1960s. The reasoning behind prohibiting any form of contraception was influenced by Protestant moral reformers as well as middle class women from the1870s. The leader of the purity movement was Anthony Comstock who was a Postal Inspector and responsible for most of the anti contraception laws. Together he worked with other activist and created a social purity movement that assisted to outlaw the ideas of contraception. These activist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Holocaust is one of the most horrific genocides. During The Holocaust, six million Jewish people got murdered by Nazis. Men, women, and even children died. I want to discuss this event in history. But there are also other events in history that are like The Holocaust. Things like antisemitism, racism, and bullying, which are real issues as well. Today, I will be discussing these problems, as well as discuss how you can stop it as a group, individual, and as a nation. On November 9, 1938, Kristallnacht occurred, it was a horrific day for European Jews. Kristallnacht means The Night of Broken Glass.¨ On that night Jewish people got beaten and killed, their homes got broken into, and Jewish women and children got brutalized. How Isabel Archer A Dynamic Character She thinks she knows a great deal of it [the world] like most American girls; but like most American girls she s ridiculously mistaken, said Lydia Touchett, a character in Henry James s novel The Portrait of a Lady, when she described her niece, Isabel Archer (56). Throughout this novel James wrote Ms. Archer as an extremely dynamic character, he allowed for the reader to feel as if they stood next to her in her best times and her worst and through all the obstacles she encountered and all the experiences that matured her. He used his connotation in a way that vividly illustrated what occurred and created a tone that developed and changed, and in doing so James was able to brilliantly depict Isabel Archer maturing from a young naive American ... Isabel was probably very liable to the sin of self esteem; she often surveyed with complacency the field of her own nature; she was in the habit of taking for granted, on scanty evidence, that she was right, (James 63 64). She was very conscious of who she was before her marriage, she was so used to being right that when her family offered her advice that she was not in favor of she completely disregarded it. Isabel knew what she wanted and had a strong belief that her knowledge would never steer her wrong, but the deterioration of her marriage was destroying her. Isabel lost much of her confidence in her choices and lost sight of who she was, she became cynical, her humor had lately turned a good deal to sarcasm, the complete opposite of the young optimistic girl the reader had come to know, she had lost her naivety and greatly matured (James 429). Isabel showed her maturity by standing by her choices until the very end of the novel, and slowly gaining the courage to choose her responsibilities over her happiness. Her internal debate peaked and concluded after she fled to England where she ultimately came to the realization that before she could be truly happy she had to resolve what she left in Rome, she had responsibilities and would no longer flee from ... That, however, is not the case when one talks about Paul Berry s The Sandman. According to a friend of his, the late internationally respected animator Paul Berry started his career in his home country the United Kingdom. There, he had worked on The Wind in The Willows and The Fool of the World, done solely in stop motion. His Oscar nominated short The Sandman placed his name onto the global stage and led him to many opportunities oversea, including a position in Nightmare Before Christmas production team. Since its release in 1992, The Sandman had become the recipient and winner of many film awards around the world (Purves). With its story based on E.T.A. Hoffmenn s novella Der Sandmann (Willig), the magical nighttime fairy is not what viewers typically know him for. A dark twist to a gentle bedtime story, combined with clever use of color and distinctive style, turned The Sandman into a great piece of stop motion animation still known and enjoyed by animators today.
