Samuel Johnson And Noah Webster
Words are the way we are able to transcend that of the common savage. We use words to
communicate, to be able to socialize, and work to cooperatively amongst each other. That is how we
were able to advance in technology and pass it on to further generations. Words are the basis of
civilization ,and each word has it s own meaning. A definition which other human s define within their
respected language. However, humans can be easily biased with influences within a lifetime. Certain
influences to the lexicographers can even change the very definitions in their dictionary which can
even make dictionaries opinionated. Noah Webster and Samuel Johnson, both lexicographers, created
dictionaries that vary in style and portray their own views. They re ... Show more content on

It may also serve as a catalyst for nationalism since dictionaries may become more nationalistic. The
two lexicographers both had different personalities. Noah Webster can be seen as very positive when it
came to words, whereas Samuel Johnson may be more pessimistic and also occasionally throws
insults at other countries to support his nationalism. Noah Webster s patronage coming from his
devotion on creating a American dictionary, and Samuel Johnson s pessimistic view on the darkness of
human life . Johnson also constantly insults other people further supporting his pessimistic and
negative self. The diction used in both dictionaries differ in the types of words and their definitions.
Noah Webster s dictionary comprised that of the American english language, rather than to British.
Different words pop up in different countries since one might find the word less significant than the
other. Noah Webster s dictionary had new American words that were quite foreign to the British, so
Samuel Johnson s dictionary should not have an idea on some of the words in Noah Webster s
dictionary. Samuel Johnson s dictionary utilized a lot of insulting of types of people in his diction. His
definition of Oats for example had insulted the scottish by saying that they are fed the same way as
horses were fed. Also his comments where he compares English and French being the same

Jealousy in Shakespeare´s Othello Essay
Jealousy is a powerful emotion that can blind oneself from identifying the truth. Shakespeare heavily
emphasizes this theme throughout the drama Othello, especially through the actions of characters. In
the play the heinous antagonist, Iago, uses each character s jealousy to deceive that person and
manipulate the truth. His false promises and deceitfulness bring to the demise of many of the main
characters in the play, including the protagonist, Othello. Othello could not have been deceived if it
were not for his powerful jealousy. Therefore, Shakespeare is telling us that jealousy is an ugly trait
that can hide the truth, which in turn causes many problems between characters in the play.
The play opens with Roderigo and Iago standing in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the quarrel, Iago reveals to the reader that he intends to use the fact that Casillo and Desdemona
will be spending more time together, in order for Casillo to get his job back, to convince Othello that
she is having an affair (1220).
Othello is an easy target in this drama, because Iago already knows that he is a very insecure person.
With that stated, it will be easy for Iago to use Othello s jealousy to trick him into thinking that
Desdemona is an unfaithful wife. Iago will manipulate the way Othello sees things in order to
convince him that what he sees is innocent acts between Desdemona and Casillo. Iago s starts to plant
the idea in Othello s head of an affair after Othello sees Casillo rush leaving Desdemona in a manner
that looked as though he is guilty (1223). Alone with Othello, Iago begins to make Othello feel
threatened by Casillo and Desdemona s apparent relationship by bringing up the fact that Casillo
served as Desdemona s and Othello s go between during the time of their courtship. The conversation
ends with Iago asking Othello to watch carefully of Desdemona and Casillo, and Iago exits giving
Othello time to question the accusation of Iago (1225 1228).
Othello s insecurities are brought to surface as Othello announces, to only the audience, his thoughts.
During his speech, Othello pounders the idea that Desdemona has lost her love for him, listing many

Cellulite
Cellulite is a condition of adipose origin in which adipose tissue protrudes through the dermis causing
an orange peel or cottage cheese type dimpling of skin seen most commonly on the thighs and
buttocks of many post pubertal women. The initial changes leading to cellulite formation appear to be
deterioration of the capillary network, vascular changes and abnormal deposits of
glycosaminoglycans, leading to excess fluid retention within subcutaneous tissues. A variety of
treatments ranging from topical creams to laser therapies are currently available, claiming to reduce
the dimpled skin appearance however successful results are often anecdotal, subjective or not present
at all.
Cellulite can be primarily found in any area of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The inability to repair tissue damage due to continued oedema and vascular congestion can lead to
thickening and sclerosis of the fibrous septae in the superficial adipose tissue and deep dermis,
creating the clinical appearance of cellulite.
Cellulite is an unwanted condition and a rising demand for cellulite reduction has new non invasive
treatment modalities becoming popular. Currently there are numerous medications, devices and
diverse therapies that allegedly treat cellulite however there is little evidence to support long term
effectiveness. Due to the nature of cellulite, effective treatment would need to repair and strengthen
the dermis as well as expel the fat protrusion back underneath the dermis. Retinoids are thought to
increase dermal collagen fibres, allowing the dermis to prevent further herniation of fat as the collagen
deposition makes the dermis much stronger, therefore reducing the appearance of cellulite.
Endermologie is a hand held mechanical system used to simulate manual massages of the skin. It is
hypothesized that it is able to reduce the appearance of cellulite by causing damages to the
subcutaneous fat cells by positive (rolling) and negative (suction) pressures, disrupting fat cells and
allowing for better distribution of subcutaneous fat.

How Does Othello Love Desdemona
Love is one of the most important themes in Othello. Othello s love for Desdemona has a lot of
challenges that he has to defeat to be with her. Although Othello loves Desdemona, he still needs more
time to have trust, but his opponent tries so hard for Othello to take his time. The immediate attraction
between the couples love for each other grows on the passion that Othello and Desdemona have. Even
though Iago was jealous, he managed to manipulate, brainwash, and be untruthful to the other
characters in order to satisfy his need for revenge against Othello. When the dust letters, Desdemona
was the only completely honest character with the love she had for Othello.
Desdemona loves Othello as well as Othello loves Desdemona. Desdemona married Othello but his
father didn t approve of both getting married because of he s color appearance but it didn t matter to

when they are around. When Cassio first goes to tell Othello that Barbantio and several soldiers have
been demanding for him to be found, Othello walks into the house leaving Iago and Cassio outdoors
together. Iago immediately seizes this opportunity and confesses to Cassio that Othello has been
sleeping with Desdemona. Although Iago expresses to Othello the impression that he is on the same
side as Othello, when Barbantio, Roderigo, and several guards find Othello Iago strongly claims,

The Role Of Stereotypes In A Pair Of Tickets
Chinese people face many stereotypes form day to day. In A Pair of Tickets and In Broad Daylight
stereotypes of Chinese people such as flaunting poor fashion choices, looking the similar, rude
manners, permanently oversized crowds, the Chinese government is overly forceful, and promiscuous
are all exhibited, but In Broad Daylight upholds these stereotypes when A Pair of Tickets shatters
some and upholds others. In Broad Daylight showcases Chinese women to be promiscuous. Mu Ying
is publicly denounced for having affairs, and her nickname is Old Whore. This stereotype is upheld
throughout the entire story. Mu makes empty promises to change; however, these promises will never
come true. The speech she makes when sticking up for female rights to have affairs is very vulgar for

for the Red Guard. They cut her hair to strip her of her beauty and place cloth shoes on her as a

Caitlyn Jenner Argument Essay
The talented actor, George Sand, once said, There is only one happiness in this life, to love and be
loved. Humanization has been a controversial issue affecting the LGBT Community across the planet.
Many people believe any sexual act should be between a man and a woman. However, there are men
who overcome insecurities and find confidence in the LGBT community. Both Homosexual and
Transgender people in sports are persecuted in their perceived orientation. After watching the videos
about Olympic Greg Louganis and Caitlyn Jenner, the two athletes shared many commonalities for
hiding their secrets.
The notable decathlon athlete, Caitlyn Jenner, shared features with the Olympic swimmer, Greg
Louganis, which made her feel comfortable in her skin. The two features that Jenner shows in
correlation to Louganis attributes was her courage and pride to promote public understanding and
tolerance of the transgender community. For example, she created social change by transitioning to a
transgender. An issue leading to her difficult decision to come out was her lost enthusiasm for life.

Health Information Analysis
The internet has become the main source of health information seeking, believe Dai, Liu, Su and Yi
(2014). In their survey they found more than half of Chinese respondents use Baidu and Google to
seek health information as well as professional websites, such as 999 Health,, before perhaps logging
on to hospital or pharmaceutical enterprise websites.
Zhou and Cai (2014) also state that the main channel for health information is an internet search
engine. Among these, Baidu is the most common in China. Search engines have the benefit of
usability for instance, users do not need any special search skills and need only to enter a question into

Not Schools Are Teaching Kids To Think Analysis
It appears traditional teaching methods in many schools across the nation are undergoing significant
changes, mostly due to the technological world we live in, and if this does not concern you, it should.
It is not only that printing has replaced cursive writing; spell check has replaced the dictionary, or
researching any topic has become a relatively easy task with Internet availability, the effects of these
changes go much deeper. While there is no harm in saving time and using different or more profound
methods that surely have made our lives easier, the simple fact is these things are mechanical
advances made from computer technology, but they will never replace a person s brain, analytical
thinking skills and thought processes. Computers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They re learning to learn. (Gee, 399) Gee might be correct that there is potential to learn through video
gaming, however, it is more the content of these games that should be held up to scrutiny. Specifically,
the depth of violence and unrealistic virtual worlds involved in many of these games should indeed
hold cause for concern. There are no long term studies to draw from telling us that video gaming is
either a good or bad thing. But we do have common sense to draw from and we should consider what
is known to date from both ends of the spectrum. The popular television show Dr. Phil recently aired
an episode when a young man was so addicted to video gaming that it overtook his life. He no longer
ate, showered or brushed his teeth and only slept when it physically overtook him. He mentally
transformed himself into the video game, ignoring everything else. While this may be only one case, it
should not be ignored. When considering the theories both Carr and Gee present, both essays are
alarming and brings one not only to the conclusion that education is definitely in crisis in this country,
but if were intending on video games to fill some kind of educational void, we are likely a country in

Research Question Relationship to Research Design
Lyn Shela Heck
The research question or hypotheses narrows the purpose statement. It predicts what will be learned
and the questions studied. A research question must indicate a target population. It must identify the
dependent variable and the independent variable(s) as well as answer what is the desired knowledge or
conclusion. Accurate results come from a good research question. Variables must be clearly defined.
Based on the data extrapolated from the study, the question should be answerable. Finally, there must

There are three elements that must be present in an experimental research design:
(1) A relationship between two variables
(2) A time order between the two variables
(3) The relationships found cannot be the result of a confounding variable. (Muijs, 2010, p. 20). The
relationship between two variables is either positive or negative. If they are positive, both variables are
positive. For example, if there is increased political propaganda there is increased political bias. On
the other hand, negative relationships between variables will have lower values on one variable while
the other value will be higher. Time order, is explained by cause and effect. One variable precedes the
other. For example, political propaganda causes political bias. The third element, confounding
variables, means, the research question cannot be explained by a third variable (Muijs, 2010, p. 21).
Experimental research design is chosen for this study using a randomized two group pretest posttest
design. It is appropriate for this research because it satisfies the three requirements above.
Experimental design maintains the most control over external elements. The research design will
measure the bias by introducing a lesson containing political material to two stratified (Vogt (2007)
sample random groups: controversial group and non controversial group. The controversial group

E. E Cummings Essay
Edward Estlin Cummings was an unbelievable great American poet one of the most well versed
scholar in the subject of poetry. E. E. Cummings was excessively popular, especially among younger
readers of his work. He was known for being reckless in thought when it came to his poetry, it was
also said that he experimented radically with his form of spelling, syntax, punctuation, and miss

language leaving behind the traditions that most poets followed. E. E. Cummings was born on October
14, 1894 to Edward Cummings and Rebecca Haswell Clarke, who were Unitarian. His father was a
professor at Harvard University and was later the nationally known minister of Old South Church in
Boston, Massachusetts. His mother loved to spend time with Cummings and his sister Elizabeth. His
mother and father knew about the creative gifts Edward had with poetry, from an early age he would
write a poem daily from the ages of eight through twenty two. With writing a poem everyday Edward

The Best Key Performance Indicators For The Godiva Monitor...
In my opinion, the five best key performance indicators for the Godiva to monitor and measure on
their ecommerce website are: number of unique visitors, bounce rate, conversion rate, average order
value, and repeat customer rate.
Unique visitors counts are important in determining between new versus returning site user traffic.
This data is helpful for counting hits to the landing page, and beneficial in counting hits to other pages
within the site as well. High traffic, and high returning traffic numbers are indicative of a healthy on
line business. The more frequently a user visits the site, the more opportunity that they have to make a
purchase. George Blitzer of Kommerzen.com indicates that more than one third of traffic should
represent repeat visitors. He also notes that rewarding these visitors with a loyalty program is a great
incentive to keep them coming back.
The bounce rate will provide Godiva with the number of times a site visitor leaves their website right
away. The bounce rate is calculated by the number of website page visitors that do not engage with the
page (do not click on links, or interact with the page) before abandoning the page, divided by the total
number of visits to the page within a given time frame. When the bounce rate rises, Godiva knows that
either the site user entered the page by accident, or the site user was not interested in what they saw. A
rise in bounce rate may potentially be caused by a redesign of a website page, unappealing

Along with the desire of new land, there were other contributing factors that initiated the war with

Taxonomy Of Cobia (Rachycentron Candum)
Introduction
Cobia (Rachycentron candum) goes by many English variant common names, such as, black kingfish,
black salmon, cabio, crabeater, cubby yew, kingfish, lemonfish, ling, prodigal son, runner and sergeant
fish (NOAA, 2014; Bester, n.d.). The initial taxonomy of cobia was labeled as Gasterosteus canadus
by Linnaeus in 1766 and then later changed to the current name Rachycentron candum (as cited in
Bester, n.d.). Often the cobia is misidentified as a shark or a remora (family Echeneidae) which is the
closest living relative to the cobia. Incidentally, the cobia is the only member of the family
Rachycentridae. The historical range of the species is within tropical, subtropical and warm temperate

Cobia can achieve lengths of six feet and weigh as high as 135 pounds (Bester, n.d.; Williams, 2001;
NOAA, 2014). The common length of a cobia is between 25 and 47 inches with weights up to 50
pounds. Cobia males are known to live up to 9 years old while the females can live to 11 years (Bester,
n.d.; Williams, 2001; NOAA, 2014). Males reaches sexual maturity in as little as 2 years and females
in 3 years. During reproduction cobia form in large groups during the daytime between the months of
June and August within the Atlantic fishery. The Gulf of Mexico reproduction occurs between the
months of April through September. Cobia spawns several times in a season, as many as 15 20,
releasing between 375,000 and a million eggs (NOAA, 2014; Bester, n.d). The spawn frequency of
cobia using both oocytes undergoing final oocyte maturation (FOMs) and postovulatory follicles
(POFs) estimated the spawn every 4 to 5 days in the North Central Gulf of Mexico, while those from
the southeastern U.S. Atlantic coast spawn every 5.2 days (SEDAR, 2013) The larval is typically

The Curriculum Of American Business Schools
INTRODUCTION
Over the last two decades, study abroad programs have become gradually incorporated into the
standard curriculum of American business schools, and are now considered a defining characteristic of
such educational institutions (Altbach Knight, 2007; Loh, et al., 2011). As the economic, political, and
societal forces of globalization proliferate, the traditional belief that American students can be fully
educated toward becoming successful business leaders within the borders of the United States has
diminished (Loh, et al., 2011). Indeed, the extension of globalization into the realm of business
schools, and with it the prioritization of market logic, has pushed such educational entities toward
broader international involvement as they attempt to address the needs of a growing global business
world (Loh, et al., 2011). Yet as the international activity of the business school increases, its role as a
locus of knowledge production must be questioned, as well as the legitimacy from which such
institutions ground their claims of privileged knowledge. Most accounts of the study abroad activities
of the business school rely upon the dominant belief that students are being trained to work in an
increasingly global environment, and thusly utilize student narratives to understand intent to apply,
choice, and the perceived benefits of participating in such international experiences (e.g. Toncar, et al.,
2006; Fitzsimmons, et al., 2013). Further, most studies neglect to

Each of the Illustrations carries with it a moral standpoint, all of which are important to Bradbury. The
Veldmakes a point that is still highly relevant today Although technology is important, it is not so
important that it should get in the way of family life. It is an incredible piece of foresight by the
author, as this is possibly the greatest problem that we face socially today. Nearly 75% of households
are connected to the Internet, with around 80% possessing computers. This is the root of many
problems, especially obesity, as the Internet and computer games are the primary contributors to
unhealthy sedentary lifestyles. Bradbury exaggerates the effects that the technology has for impact,
with the parents dying as a result of relying so much on their house s technological equipment, and not
bothering to communicate with other human beings. In Kaleidoscope, Bradbury explores not only the
concept of death, but also his belief that we must make the most of our lives when we have the
chance, because at the end, the only things we are left with are our memories. He sets it in open space
to illustrate this nothingness and loneliness, but the point that he makes is just as relevant here on
Earth. Carpe diem is shown in

Electronic Warfare Analysis Paper
Electronic Warfare Analysis of Army SINCGARS Radios Operation tempo in cyber and electronic
warfare can be described by the OODA (Observe Orient Decision Action) loop decision making
process (Pace). The steps occupy a logical order of electronic attack or defense. First, a particular
electromagnetic characteristic is observed by either human or electronic operators. For example, a
spike in a frequency known to be used by the enemy, indicating a potential target for electronic attack,
or a sudden increase in noise on friendly systems which could indicate jamming by an adversary.
Orientation is the allocation of resources to either exploit or counter the observed characteristic, such
as reconfiguring analog or digital tuners, clocks, or filters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would render conversation intelligible, as every second of transmission would include a static
burst that would cause information to be lost. In mathematical terms, this means the 25 kHz wide
jamming signal must sweep through the entire bandwidth every second. With 2320 channels, this
yields a required tempo for the jammer as: 0.43 ms. The required operational tempo to effectively jam
the SINCGARS radio is much higher than operational tempo required to frequency hop. This can be
explained by looking at the bandwidth cost for the hopped radio and the swept jammer. The radio hops
111 times per second, with each hop being a distinct channel, but has 2320 channels to choose from.
Each second only uses a small part of the total bandwidth, specifically 2.7 MHz out of an available 58
MHz. In contrast, the jammer is blind to the hop pattern, and must sweep over the entire 58 MHz once
a second to have a chance of interrupting at least one

The Topic For My Capstone Project Was To Gain Introductory
The topic for my capstone project was to gain introductory knowledge for penetration testing. I had
little knowledge on the subject itself, but I was interested in it enough to base this project around it.
What I knew before hand was very basic information and I would need to learn a lot more before I
could consider myself fully introduced to penetration testing. The goal of my capstone was to learn
how to safely practice penetration testing, set up a virtual machine penetration lab, learn why a lab
would need to be set up, and lastly to find out why penetration testing is important.
Penetration testing is when a company pays a specialist to try and break into their network and relay
back to them any vulnerabilities they may find. Now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using these labels and their definitions explains the purpose of penetration testing a bit better. White
hats use the same methods and tools to break into networks as a black hat would, but they disclose the
security issue with the network owner. In a sense, a white hat imitates a malicious attack but there
would be no harm done to the network.
What are the vulnerabilities in which a penetration test would look for? Most penetration tests would
go through an information gathering state in which they look for as many different possible vulnerable
targets, and they may also capture the network traffic and investigate that as well. One example of an
attack could be infiltrating the file server and uploading a payload to that server. If an attacker can find
their way to accessing the file server, depending on what is kept on it, they could also have access to
secure files and any other sensitive information kept on it, possibly any of the configuration files to
that file server holding hashes for user passwords. Attackers may also look for any vulnerable
programs on network computers for more ways into the system. Depending on how much effort a
hacker wants to go through there is an endless amount of areas that they can check for vulnerabilities.
Anything from scanning port numbers to bypassing the firewall without being detected, networks can
be well secured but not to a point of being 100% safe from any

Missa Caput Cantus Firmus
Upon studying the Missa Caput, thought to be composed by Guillaume Dufay but will remain as
Anonymous , one can classify it as a cantus firmus mass. Both the Anonymous composer of the
Missae Caput and composer Jacob Obrecht utilize the Caput section of Venit Ad Petrum as the cantus
firmus and basis for the Sanctus sections of their mass compositions. Anonymous mass threads
consonant sonorities in and out of each vocal line; a trend set by the influence of the English and their
Contenance angloise In J. Peter Burkholder s History of Western Music, he writes, It consisted
especially in the frequent use of harmonic thirds and sixths, often in parallel motion, resulting in

While Anonymous mass uses the original pitches for the caput melisma, Obrecht transposes them up a
fourth and assigns the contra voice the cantus firmus. The transposition and reassignment allows for
the tenor line to add different colors through accidentals, while maintaining the basic function of the
cantus firmus. Additionally, these techniques bring out rhythmic motifs found throughout the Sanctus
through a different balance of pitch. A different texture is perceived if the tenor line can complement
the cantus firmus rather than be it completely. Unlike Anonymous mass, Obrecht s mass contains
obvious rhythmic imitation. The use of dotted quarter notes which are almost always preceded by
eighth note or sixteenth note melismatic rhythms is prevalent throughout and allows for a cohesive
mental processing of it s many homophonic rhythms as a contrast. Obrecht s application of imitation
tricks the listener into confusion, only to then bring back homophonic texture to seemingly create a
distinction between cacophony and harmony. While Anonymous mass adopts parallel motion
counterpoint to weave the lines away from each other and back together again, Obrecht makes his
lines less rhythmically uniform. The lessening of rhythmic uniform maintains tonal like gravity to the
cantus firmus. The pitches often create consonance, quickly deviate away to form a new tonality, only
to find themselves returning to thirds and sixths. The entrance of the caput cantus firmus outlines a
major triad exactly as it is in the anonymous mass; however, the chord is reminiscent to C Major as
the cantus firmus sings an E . Both composers use the beginning pitch of their cantus firmi as the third
of the triads much before the true age of tonality. This could be a considerable instance of the origins
and evolution of tonality through music

The Stages Of Piaget s Development Theory
This essay is concerned with the Concrete Operational Stage of Piaget s development theory, which he
described as a major turning point in a child s cognitive development as it is the beginning of logical
thought processes (Piaget, 1954). This typically occurs between seven and eleven years of age. It will
describe the developmental tests used to evidence development and evaluate the strengths and
weakness of the theory in relation to the stage and tests used. During this stage, children develop and
are able to use logical reasoning as long as it can be applied to concrete and specific examples they are
familiar with, such as their own experiences and people, places and objects they know and have
experienced however, abstract thought and what if scenarios are still beyond their thinking. They are
able to understand conservation, which Mcleod.S.A (2010) defines as understanding that something
remains the same even though its appearance changes, which coincides with the development of
reversibility and knowing that numbers/object appearances can be changed and then returned to their
original condition with no lasting effects. It is a mental process which allows the reversal of a chain of
events or restoration of a changed state to original condition (Piaget,J Inhelder,B. 1956). Their
classification skills increase allowing objects to be grouped by mass, weight, height and colour and
class inclusion develops, enabling the child to further separate the classified groups of

An example of this would be Kingdom of Heaven. The movie Kingdom Of Heaven is based on
historical events that happened during the Crusades. While it is more accurate than other movies, there

Whether or not a film is accurate or not to history is important.Since this essay ties in with English
Language Arts and HIstory. Here is some science, just for the heck of it. In order to have a positive
future, we must treat life like the experiment it is. After each test life sends your way, you must revise
and edit your plan, and adjust. In order to do this, you must reflect on the past, not just yours
personally, but history as a whole. It s impossible to do that correctly without the right information.
For example, in the film, Saladin is portrayed as a respectful and merciful leader, despite being the
antagonist. Had he been different, you would apply the knowledge and lesson differently towards
dealing with the antagonist in your own story, who may be a lot less understanding or more cruel than
Saladin. History applies to everyday life, whether it is dealing with someone with opposing views, or
trying to make an important decision about your future. An easy way to be successful is to learn from
history and use it to your advantage, and in order to do that, we need accurate portrayals of history in
the media, like this movie Kingdom of

through finding their gifts and talents. A caterpillar only becomes a butterfly when it breaks out of its

The title To Pimp a Butterfly is in and of itself the central message Lamar is communicating with the
listener. To Pimp a Butterfly refers to the downfall (whether that be intellectually or physically) of
butterflies. That downfall occurs when butterflies become seduced by fame and fortune often by their
own desires or, in some cases, by their exploitation. A pimped butterfly perpetuates the idea that the
only lifestyle to live is one based on status and wealth.
The opening track of the album is entitled Wesley s Theory. Wesley, in this instance, is in reference to

(Slack) The railroads right away walked away from unprofitable passenger business, and concentrated
on freight as their core business activity; this side of the business was the most profitable and there
was not too much competition. Rail traffic started growing by flows of coal, grain, and ores, indeed
43% of all traffic was accounted for by coal shipments in 2003. Larger capacity cars were brought into
service. Although general freight produced higher revenues per ton it was more subject to competition,
and therefore received less attention. (Slack) Due to the high fixed cost of operating and maintaining a
railroad, and considering that companies had to build and maintain their own tracks there were certain
routes that were not profitable. Before1980, economic regulation prevented railroads from any
flexibility in pricing needed to meet both intra as well as intermodal competition. Regulation also
prohibited carriers from restructuring their systems, including abandoning redundant and light density
lines, a necessity for controlling cost. Added to these problems was the industry s inability to cover
inflation due to the regulatory time lag in rate adjustments. As a consequence, nine carriers were
bankrupt, the industry had low return on investment and unable to raise capital, and faced a steady
decline in market share. Therefore, in the post Staggers Act environment, the railroads began

Cholera Is A Contagious Infection
Introduction
Qadri, Svennerholm, Faruque, Sack, (2005) states that Cholera is a highly contagious infection, which
is deemed to be severe once contracted. This is the case since it has been considered as among the
dangerous diseases currently, and which has been aligned with a variety of worldwide epidemics
experienced in the near past. The disease sprang in 1961, where it was first experienced in Indonesia,
and spread to other nations around the globe. According to WHO (2002), in the 21st century, cholera
was deemed to infect over 300, 000 people, 10, 000 of whom succumbed from it. The main aspect
considered to promoting the generation and spread of the disorder is an unclean environment, whereby
it forces people to use contaminated water for their personal use. Among the events that can further
promote the occurrence of this contamination are floods as well as wars. Regions that have been
adversely affected by the effects of Cholera include Asia, Middle East, Africa, Central and South
America. The latest outbreak of the infection however occurred in Haiti. WHO (2010) states that
Cholera kills about 4% of the individuals who contract the bacterium. The case mainly affects the
patients who suffer severe symptoms. Such symptoms may occur as a result of late treatment, or as a
result of inappropriate treatment modules. If the persons with severe symptoms tend to be treated
appropriately, less than 1% of them would die from it.
Vibrio Cholerae is the primary agent

Switching from Social Media to Printed Media
In today society, different media types are used more frequently than everyday chore. The average
American spends five hours a day watching television overall eight hours a day per household.
Drivers spend about six hours per day listening to radio averaging seven hundred and fifty hours a

The story begins with Daniel Quinn writing about a day in his life, until he comes upon an absurd
advertisement in the personals section of the newspaper: TEACHER seeks pupil. Must have an earnest
desire to save the world. Apply in person. Suspicious, Quinn investigates this advertisement with
intentions of exposing fraud. Instead, he discovers Ishmael in Room 105 of a undistinguished office
building. Sitting calmly, Ishmael gently nibbled on a slender branch. Appalled, Quinn stumbled
towards the chair. Ishmael and Quinn gazed into each other s eyes, and much to his disgruntlement,
the glowing eyes spoke to him. Nodding his head to the unspoken question, Ishmael quietly said, I am
the teacher. Ishmael explains that Quinn is part of a culture, that results in him being taught certain
stories between the relationships of man, the world, and the Gods. These explanations will be made
clearer to the pupil by being assisted in recognizing why the stories are misleading. Ishmael s goal will
show the narrator that human history comes from two groups, the Takers and the Leavers. These
groups legislate two completely different stories about man, the world, and the Gods. Takers are the
humans who developed agriculture and civilization, who still dominate on Earth today. The Leavers,
in contradiction, are those who don t adopt agricultural practices and disregard the benefits of
civilization.
In lessons, Ishmael asks Quinn to explain other stories that the Takers imagine. The pupil

Technology can increase productivity to help countries compete with other countries in selling goods
and services. Some say that without technological improvements, the economy would grow slowly or
not at all. Society could remain the same for years.
Ways to manufacture goods have changed continuously through history. Today, several important new
advances in technology are transforming. These technologies create new products; most of them also
change the way people in society interact. These technologies have a tremendous impact on our
financial resources. Some of the technologies that are having the greatest effect on the economy are:
robotics, automation and computerization.
Everyday in society people are making improvements, and decisions that have an impact on their
society and technology. One of the most important decisions we make concerns the way we move
ourselves, and our possessions. Our system of transportation greatly affects how we use energy,
develop technology, the economy and environment, and our relationships.
When Henry Ford was starting out on his remarkable career in Detroit the economy was at an all time
low and at the time no one could of forecasted what was about to happen. Carriage and buggy whip
makers were still making good profits in a growing market, and there were few cars on the dusty
roads. Yet, within a few short years, Ford and others would shape consumer

Write An Essay On The Mongols
The Mongols The Mongols were able to conquer Asia in just 30 years, for many skilled reasons. They
were taught at a young age working with a bow and became very skilled arches. Second they were
great at riding horses and could shoot bows at their enemies while on the horse. They had several
different siege machines that did different things to help them. Mongols were very organized and that
was the main key to a part of their suessess. Last they were the most fierce warriors that many people
would surrender without even trying to put up a fight. The Mongols were skilled archers, and horses
back riding. They had one composite bow made out of sinew and horn, and were skilled at shooting it
while riding there horse. With the bows they had they could shoot as far of a range from more than
350 yards, and their English longbow was only 250 yards. By ... Show more content on

They had at least over five siege machines that they had in their favor in a war or a battle. The names
of the four main ones are the catapult hurled stones, flaming liquids, the trebuchet, and the ballista.
Ballista was a very powerful one that helped the Mongols a lot, it shot large arrows that could damage
buildings and structures and kill any person or animal in its path. Then the Trebuchet was a catapult
powered by the drop of a heavy counterweight, threw objects faster than the torsion catapult. If your a
Mongol warrior and you have those two main siege machine that will over power their enemies and
don t forget the other ones they have also to do damage. The key to success with the Mongols that
helped them with their machines, and archong skills was organization. Giving them organization gave
them the power to keep all there machines and bows in order and not be a mess. That s how the
Mongol warriors conquered Asia in 30 years and conquered other areas

Six Types Of A Chemical Reaction
Some people may ask what exactly is a chemical reaction? A chemical reaction is a process that
involves rearrangement of the molecular or ionic structure of a substance. There is six types of
chemical reactions named Synthesis, Decomposition, Single Replacement, Double Replacement,
Combustion, and Acid base reactions.
Synthesis is when two or more reactants combine to form one product. Synthesis always forms a
compound. The equation for synthesis is A + B AB. Water, which is H2O is a good example of a
synthesis reaction. An example of a synthesis reaction is when a metal or nonmetal reacts with oxygen
to form an oxide. One way that synthesis reactions connect to the real world is salt. Salt is a synthesis
reaction of NaCl which is sodium chloride. The equation would be Sodium (Na) + Chlorine (Cl)
Sodium Chloride (NaCl) and this would make it a synthesis reaction.
The opposite of a synthesis reaction would be a decomposition reaction. A decomposition reaction is
when one reactant is broken down into two or more products. This means a compound is broken down
into separate products. The equation would be the opposite of synthesis which is AB A + B. An
example of a decomposition reaction is 2H2O 2H2 + O2. The lab we did in chemistry class called
Electrolysis of Water is a good example of decomposition because decomposition was produced by
passing an electric current through the substance in the container with the screw and nail inside which
represent the

  • 3. Jealousy in Shakespeare´s Othello Essay Jealousy is a powerful emotion that can blind oneself from identifying the truth. Shakespeare heavily emphasizes this theme throughout the drama Othello, especially through the actions of characters. In the play the heinous antagonist, Iago, uses each character s jealousy to deceive that person and manipulate the truth. His false promises and deceitfulness bring to the demise of many of the main characters in the play, including the protagonist, Othello. Othello could not have been deceived if it were not for his powerful jealousy. Othello is an easy target in this drama, because Iago already knows that he is a very insecure person. With that stated, it will be easy for Iago to use Othello s jealousy to trick him into thinking that Desdemona is an unfaithful wife. Iago will manipulate the way Othello sees things in order to convince him that what he sees is innocent acts between Desdemona and Casillo. Iago s starts to plant the idea in Othello s head of an affair after Othello sees Casillo rush leaving Desdemona in a manner that looked as though he is guilty (1223). Currently there are numerous medications, devices and diverse therapies that allegedly treat cellulite however there is little evidence to support long term effectiveness. Due to the nature of cellulite, effective treatment would need to repair and strengthen the dermis as well as expel the fat protrusion back underneath the dermis. In my opinion, the five best key performance indicators for the Godiva to monitor and measure on their ecommerce website are: number of unique visitors, bounce rate, conversion rate, average order value, and repeat customer rate. Unique visitors counts are important in determining between new versus returning site user traffic. This data is helpful for counting hits to the landing page, and beneficial in counting hits to other pages within the site as well. High traffic, and high returning traffic numbers are indicative of a healthy on line business. The more frequently a user visits the site, the more opportunity that they have to make a purchase. George Blitzer of Kommerzen.com indicates that more than one third of traffic should represent repeat visitors. He also notes that rewarding these visitors with a loyalty program is a great incentive to keep them coming back. The bounce rate will provide Godiva with the number of times a site visitor leaves their website right away. The bounce rate is calculated by the number of website page visitors that do not engage with the page (do not click on links, or interact with the page) before abandoning the page, divided by the total number of visits to the page within a given time frame. When the bounce rate rises, Godiva knows that either the site user entered the page by accident, or the site user was not interested in what they saw. A rise in bounce rate may potentially be caused by a redesign of a website page, unappealing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Curriculum Of American Business Schools INTRODUCTION Over the last two decades, study abroad programs have become gradually incorporated into the standard curriculum of American business schools, and are now considered a defining characteristic of such educational institutions (Altbach Knight, 2007; Loh, et al., 2011). As the economic, political, and societal forces of globalization proliferate, the traditional belief that American students can be fully educated toward becoming successful business leaders within the borders of the United States has diminished (Loh, et al., 2011). Indeed, the extension of globalization into the realm of business schools, and with it the prioritization of market logic, has pushed such educational entities toward broader international involvement as they attempt to address the needs of a growing global business world (Loh, et al., 2011). Yet as the international activity of the business school increases, its role as a locus of knowledge production must be questioned, as well as the legitimacy from which such institutions ground their claims of privileged knowledge. Most accounts of the study abroad activities of the business school rely upon the dominant belief that students are being trained to work in an increasingly global environment, and thusly utilize student narratives to understand intent to apply, choice, and the perceived benefits of participating in such international experiences (e.g. Toncar, et al., 2006; Fitzsimmons, et al., 2013). Nearly 75% of households are connected to the Internet, with around 80% possessing computers. For example, a spike in a frequency known to be used by the enemy, indicating a potential target for electronic attack, or a sudden increase in noise on friendly systems which could indicate jamming by an adversary. In mathematical terms, this means the 25 kHz wide jamming signal must sweep through the entire bandwidth every second. With 2320 channels, this yields a required tempo for the jammer as: 0.43 ms. The required operational tempo to effectively jam the SINCGARS radio is much higher than operational tempo required to frequency hop. This can be explained by looking at the bandwidth cost for the hopped radio and the swept jammer. The radio hops 111 times per second, with each hop being a distinct channel, but has 2320 channels to choose from. Each second only uses a small part of the total bandwidth, specifically 2.7 MHz out of an available 58 MHz. In contrast, the jammer is blind to the hop pattern, and must sweep over the entire 58 MHz once a second to have a chance of interrupting at least one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I had little knowledge on the subject itself, but I was interested in it enough to base this project around it. What I knew before hand was very basic information and I would need to learn a lot more before I could consider myself fully introduced to penetration testing. The goal of my capstone was to learn how to safely practice penetration testing, set up a virtual machine penetration lab, learn why a lab would need to be set up, and lastly to find out why penetration testing is important. Using these labels and their definitions explains the purpose of penetration testing a bit better. White hats use the same methods and tools to break into networks as a black hat would, but they disclose the security issue with the network owner. In a sense, a white hat imitates a malicious attack but there would be no harm done to the network. What are the vulnerabilities in which a penetration test would look for? Most penetration tests would go through an information gathering state in which they look for as many different possible vulnerable targets, and they may also capture the network traffic and investigate that as well. One example of an attack could be infiltrating the file server and uploading a payload to that server. If an attacker can find their way to accessing the file server, depending on what is kept on it, they could also have access to secure files and any other sensitive information kept on it, possibly any of the configuration files to that file server holding hashes for user passwords. Attackers may also look for any vulnerable programs on network computers for more ways into the system. Depending on how much effort a hacker wants to go through there is an endless amount of areas that they can check for vulnerabilities. Anything from scanning port numbers to bypassing the firewall without being detected, networks can be well secured but not to a point of being 100% safe from any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Missa Caput Cantus Firmus Upon studying the Missa Caput, thought to be composed by Guillaume Dufay but will remain as Anonymous , one can classify it as a cantus firmus mass. Both the Anonymous composer of the Missae Caput and composer Jacob Obrecht utilize the Caput section of Venit Ad Petrum as the cantus firmus and basis for the Sanctus sections of their mass compositions. Anonymous mass threads consonant sonorities in and out of each vocal line; a trend set by the influence of the English and their Contenance angloise In J. Peter Burkholder s History of Western Music, he writes, It consisted especially in the frequent use of harmonic thirds and sixths, often in parallel motion, resulting in pervasive consonance with few dissonances (Burkholder 167). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Anonymous mass uses the original pitches for the caput melisma, Obrecht transposes them up a fourth and assigns the contra voice the cantus firmus. The transposition and reassignment allows for the tenor line to add different colors through accidentals, while maintaining the basic function of the cantus firmus. Additionally, these techniques bring out rhythmic motifs found throughout the Sanctus through a different balance of pitch. A different texture is perceived if the tenor line can complement the cantus firmus rather than be it completely. Unlike Anonymous mass, Obrecht s mass contains obvious rhythmic imitation. The use of dotted quarter notes which are almost always preceded by eighth note or sixteenth note melismatic rhythms is prevalent throughout and allows for a cohesive mental processing of it s many homophonic rhythms as a contrast. Obrecht s application of imitation tricks the listener into confusion, only to then bring back homophonic texture to seemingly create a distinction between cacophony and harmony. While Anonymous mass adopts parallel motion counterpoint to weave the lines away from each other and back together again, Obrecht makes his lines less rhythmically uniform. The lessening of rhythmic uniform maintains tonal like gravity to the cantus firmus. The pitches often create consonance, quickly deviate away to form a new tonality, only to find themselves returning to thirds and sixths. The entrance of the caput cantus firmus outlines a major triad exactly as it is in the anonymous mass; however, the chord is reminiscent to C Major as the cantus firmus sings an E . Both composers use the beginning pitch of their cantus firmi as the third of the triads much before the true age of tonality. This could be a considerable instance of the origins and evolution of tonality through music ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Stages Of Piaget s Development Theory This essay is concerned with the Concrete Operational Stage of Piaget s development theory, which he described as a major turning point in a child s cognitive development as it is the beginning of logical thought processes (Piaget, 1954). This typically occurs between seven and eleven years of age. It will describe the developmental tests used to evidence development and evaluate the strengths and weakness of the theory in relation to the stage and tests used. During this stage, children develop and are able to use logical reasoning as long as it can be applied to concrete and specific examples they are familiar with, such as their own experiences and people, places and objects they know and have experienced however, abstract thought and what if scenarios are still beyond their thinking. They are able to understand conservation, which Mcleod.S.A (2010) defines as understanding that something remains the same even though its appearance changes, which coincides with the development of reversibility and knowing that numbers/object appearances can be changed and then returned to their original condition with no lasting effects. It is a mental process which allows the reversal of a chain of events or restoration of a changed state to original condition (Piaget,J Inhelder,B. 1956). After each test life sends your way, you must revise and edit your plan, and adjust. In order to do this, you must reflect on the past, not just yours personally, but history as a whole. It s impossible to do that correctly without the right information. For example, in the film, Saladin is portrayed as a respectful and merciful leader, despite being the antagonist. To Pimp a Butterfly refers to the downfall (whether that be intellectually or physically) of butterflies. Although general freight produced higher revenues per ton it was more subject to competition, and therefore received less attention. (Slack) Due to the high fixed cost of operating and maintaining a railroad, and considering that companies had to build and maintain their own tracks there were certain routes that were not profitable. Before1980, economic regulation prevented railroads from any flexibility in pricing needed to meet both intra as well as intermodal competition. Regulation also prohibited carriers from restructuring their systems, including abandoning redundant and light density lines, a necessity for controlling cost. Added to these problems was the industry s inability to cover inflation due to the regulatory time lag in rate adjustments. They had at least over five siege machines that they had in their favor in a war or a battle. The names of the four main ones are the catapult hurled stones, flaming liquids, the trebuchet, and the ballista. Ballista was a very powerful one that helped the Mongols a lot, it shot large arrows that could damage buildings and structures and kill any person or animal in its path. Then the Trebuchet was a catapult powered by the drop of a heavy counterweight, threw objects faster than the torsion catapult. If your a Mongol warrior and you have those two main siege machine that will over power their enemies and don t forget the other ones they have also to do damage. • 43. Six Types Of A Chemical Reaction Some people may ask what exactly is a chemical reaction? A chemical reaction is a process that involves rearrangement of the molecular or ionic structure of a substance. There is six types of chemical reactions named Synthesis, Decomposition, Single Replacement, Double Replacement, Combustion, and Acid base reactions. Synthesis is when two or more reactants combine to form one product. Synthesis always forms a compound. The equation for synthesis is A + B AB. Water, which is H2O is a good example of a synthesis reaction. An example of a synthesis reaction is when a metal or nonmetal reacts with oxygen to form an oxide. One way that synthesis reactions connect to the real world is salt. Salt is a synthesis reaction of NaCl which is sodium chloride. The equation would be Sodium (Na) + Chlorine (Cl) Sodium Chloride (NaCl) and this would make it a synthesis reaction. The opposite of a synthesis reaction would be a decomposition reaction. A decomposition reaction is when one reactant is broken down into two or more products. This means a compound is broken down into separate products. The equation would be the opposite of synthesis which is AB A + B. An example of a decomposition reaction is 2H2O 2H2 + O2. The lab we did in chemistry class called Electrolysis of Water is a good example of decomposition because decomposition was produced by passing an electric current through the substance in the container with the screw and nail inside which represent the ...
