How Did Martin Luther King Impact The Civil Rights Movement
Martin Luther King Jr. had the ability to move his audience, and inspire a vision of hope. In his
speeches he spoke about the Bible, and rarely ever about revenge. King was focused on moving
forward. Martin Luther King Jr. is an influential advocate of civil rights through his actions during the
Montgomery Bus Boycott, the March on Washington, and his I Have A Dream speech. Martin Luther
King Jr. impacted the Civil Rights movement through the Montgomery Bus Boycott. It all started with
Rosa Parks when she wouldn t give up her seat to a white passenger. King heard about it, and help
organize the bus boycott. The boycott lasted for several months; eventually it was brought to the
Supreme Court, and they ruled segregation unconstitutional. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

impacted the Civil Rights movement through his actions during the March on Washington. By the
1960s people grew tired of the inequality, and that s when Philip A. Randolph as the head started
planning for a march in 1963. People started to sponsored the march like Roy Wilkins of the National
Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Whitney Young of the National Urban
League (NUL), Martin Luther King, Jr. of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC),
James Farmer of Congress On Racial Equality, and John Lewis of the Student Nonviolent
Coordinating Committee (SNCC). More people followed suit like Walter Reuther of the United Auto
Workers (UAW), Joachim Prinz of the American Jewish Congress (AJC), Eugene Carson Blake of the
Commission on Religion and Race of the National Council of Churches, Matthew Ahmann of the
National Catholic Conference for Interracial Justice, and Dorothy Height of the National Council of
Negro Women. With a lot of people willing to come together, and fight for the same thing shows that
even when you think that you are the only one that thinks something isn t right, there could be others,
so don t give up, or give in. King was one of those people that thought the same way as Randolph, and
he didn t give up on fighting for equality rights for blacks even when it got

Investigating the Stagnant Political Situation in Pittsburgh
Investigating the Stagnant Political Situation in Pittsburgh A Proposal for the Pennsylvania Center for
Women, Politics, and Public Policy Target Organization Pennsylvania Center for Women, Politics, and
Public Policy Aims to improve status of women through fighting for policy change High degree of
interaction with female voters in Pennsylvania Gender Differences in Voters Empirical evidence
suggests that men and women respond differently to political scenarios Possibly reinforced by the
women s movement, which suggested to many women that their political views ought to be different
from those of their husbands or father In Pittsburgh, frustration with current scenarios appears to be
inhibiting voter action generally and female voter responsiveness especially Problem and Need
Pittsburgh lags behind cities of comparable size in terms of economic and cultural development
Stagnancy is readily apparent in both city and county government offices This has led to dormancy in
the political process as a whole, and apathy or feelings of ineffectiveness for voters Political
Stagnancy Political stagnancy can be observed in much of the United States in the current era Former
greatness or large degrees of success appear to be predictive of stagnancy, which definitely applies to
Pittsburgh in terms of its former industrial glory Currently, three intersecting and interrelated areas of
politics, education, and the economy contribute to the stagnancy Program/Project Goal

The Theory Of Human Caring
The Theory of Human Caring Jean Watson introduced the Theory of Human Caring in 1985 through
her book Nursing: Human Science and Human Care. Watson s goal was to present nursing as a distinct
entity, a profession, a discipline and science in its own right, separate from, but complementary to,
medicine (Watson, 1985). Her theory was never stagnate and evolved over time with the changes of
nursing. Watson s theory began with the Carative factors, which guides the fundamentals of nursing.
Carative factors are looked at as caring actions nurses can carry out day by day. Some of the factors
included instillation of faith and hope and development of a helping trusting human caring
relationship (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2015). Watson ... Show more content on

Watson s theory put forth the idea that one has to go beyond owns own ego to reach a deeper spiritual
connection while comforting a patient which she defined as transpersonal. Transpersonal caring seeks
to connect with and embrace the spirit or soul of the other through the processes of caring and healing
and being in authentic relation; in the moment (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2015). A
Transpersonal caring relationship is the foundation of her work; the nurse s ability to focus on caring,
healing and wholeness rather than disease, illness and medicine. Watson (1989,1999) says that when
human caring is produced the nurse and patient come together to create a moment, this is known as the
caring occasion/caring moment. A caring moment involves an action and choice by the nurse and
patient to connect on a deeper spiritual level to promote healing. Now a few assumptions were then
made on Watsons Theory of Human Caring and/or Watsons Care Model as it relates to the science of
caring. To start, caring is central to nursing. Caring consists of the carative factors, and if nurses
follow these factors it will lead to patient satisfaction of certain human needs. A caring environment is
one that offers the development of potential while allowing the person to choose the best action for
him or herself at any given stage (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2015). Her theory focuses

Southwest Airlines (A)
Stanford Graduate School of Business Case Study HR 1A (1995)
A Summary
This case is about Ann Rhoades, vice president of people for Southwest Airlines (LUV). She is
preparing for a meeting with the top executives of the airlines to discuss the airline s competitive
position in the light of United s and Continental s recent engagement in the low fare market after their
huge losses over the last 12 months, whilst LUV could nearly double its share. On the agenda is an
overview of the current position in the light of new competition and the resulting threats and
opportunities.
Background
LUV ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Attitude and fit and the importance of culture are more valued than skill. One person submitted her
resume on the icing of a large sheet of cake and got the job! Highly skilled applicants had been
frequently turned down if their attitude was not right.
To increase the skills, training is an important part of LUV. In 1993, 6.500 people went through LUV s
University for People. Virtually all training is internal and every rank of employee must participate.
Training is designed for individuals as well as whole teams.
LUV s workforce belongs to 89 % to 9 separate unions, but the last walk out (by the machinists) was
over a decade ago. On average, LUV employees earn less per hour, but they have the flexibility to
work more hours to make up for this difference. Even the CEO has been ranked amongst the lowest
paid in the industry. However, every employee ( 1 year) is covered by a profit sharing scheme and 80
% 90 % own stock in the company. The work force is very young (34 years), with 23 % belonging to a
minority. 10 % 12 % at managerial level are women.
During the economic down turn, many airlines had to lay off people. LUV however did not have to
follow suit as it uses few temporary or part time employees and can draw on a pool of ex employees
(e. g., retirees) in case of emergencies.
At LUV, there is a family spirit which can be seen in many ways. Employees raised $ 500.000 in
voluntary contribution to be used by employees in need; they even raised $

Romeo And Juliet 1996 Vs 1996
The Romeo and Juliet film adaptation that I preferred was Baz Luhrmann s 1996 adaptation. The two
films, even though they were about the same story of star cross d lovers, were completely different.
The 1996 version made the timeless classic, Romeo and Juliet, much more modern and relatable. The
decision to depict Romeo and Juliet, in a bustling city was a daring move, but was still able to convey
the theme that Shakespeare had intended nearly 400 years ago. The costumes in the 2013 version were
much more realistic with peasants, kings, and townspeople being dressed, similarly to how they would
have been dressed during Shakespeare s times. On the other hand, the characters in the 1996 version
were dressed with t shirts and adorned with

Females Of The Same Sexual Orientation
The Jurgens, Schwitzer, Middleton, (2004) study pointed out that focus groups were asked whether
males of the same sexual orientation delivered an optimistic and restricted perspective to social
transformation, and 68% of the sample evaluated was unbiased. Some of the questionnaire s questions
included, sexual option have nothing to do with a person s personality or their input to civilization
(Jurgens et al, 2004). The inquiries claimed individuals of the same sexual persuasion are worthy of
comparable shelter and safety (Jurgens et al, 2004). The participants in the survey determined that
females of the same sexual orientation vindicated comparable protection and the similar privileges as
heterosexuals (Jurgens et al, 2004). Two topics came up, and one theme was that female of the same
sexual preference should not have corresponding rights in the area of child nurturing (Jurgens et al,
2004). The responses sets stated that it did not give kids any other possibilities (Jurgens et al, 2004).
The respondents in the survey claimed it was detrimental for a child s health to be brought up in
female of the same sexual orientation s family unit, and it made the household arrangement
idiosyncratic (Jurgens et al, 2004).
According to the Anselmi, Voci, Vianello, Robusto, (2015) analysis argued that explicitly, men of the
same sexual preference assumed there was ineffectual in group predisposition in comparison to males
belonging to heterosexuality. Women of the same sexual

Liam Goldsworthy What are electrons, protons and neutrons made of? Essay
Everything that exists in the world is made up of atoms, from the asteroids that float around in space
to the very cells inside a human body. Atoms are everywhere and that s because atoms make up
everything. Atoms are made up of protons, neutrons and electrons, each element has different amount
of protons, neutrons and electrons. For instance one Helium atom has two protons, two neutrons and
two electrons. Helium is an extremely stable element so there are no variations such as ions or
isotopes. So we know that atoms make up everything in the universe and atoms are made up of
protons, neutrons and electrons. So what makes protons, neutrons and electrons? Diagram ... Show

Electrons are known to fall into orbits or energy levels. These orbits are not visible like the orbit of a
planet or celestial body. The reason is that atoms are so small and the best microscopes can only view
so much of atoms at that scale. Even if we could view electrons they would move too fast for the
human eye. We can only estimate where the electrons are, that is why the modern model of the atoms
has an electron cloud surrounding the nucleus of an atom instead of a set orbit. Electrons are classed
under as fermions seen in diagram 3, as far as we know electrons have no internal structure instead
they are oscillations of the electron field or quantum field

Reducing Costs through Production and Supply Chain Management by Vinod Lall
Executive Summary
There are numerous drivers of production and the supply chain, and there are several processes under
each driver. These processes are associated with high overheads and offer opportunities for cost
reduction. Cost reduction requires a complete knowledge and mapping of all costs, cycle times,
purchases, inventories, suppliers, customers, logistics, and other service providers throughout the
supply chain. Cost reduction in the supply chain often requires trade off analysis amongst conflicting
alternatives using the total cost approach. Successfully achieving supply chain cost savings requires
the use of cross functional teams with representation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These include component commonality, component modularity, and postponement. Component
commonality: The principle of component commonality focuses on the design and use of common
components for families of products. When there are a large number of products in a supply chain, the
inventory of components will naturally be large. Component commonality calls for the use of common
components in a variety of products. This reduces costs not only by reducing inventory cost but also
through reduced material cost, reduced production cost, and reduced product obsolescence. For
example, a computer manufacturer can design common components such as memory and disk drives
and use different combinations of these components to produce different finished products.
Component modularity: The principle of component modularity recommends that common
subsystems be designed as modules to meet a broad range of feature requirements. This reduces the
number of components that must be produced, kept in materials and repair parts inventory, and
integrated into the product during the production process. This reduces procurement, manufacturing,
and inventory costs, leading to a lower supply chain cost. Manufacturers of electronic products, for
example, use the principle of modularity to design and assemble printers, computers, and so on.
Postponement: Postponement means delaying the bringing of products into their final form until close

He did not fit in. Black, straight hair. From the back, a twig, but wild as a monkey. Most would call
him a handful, or a spirited boy. His name, Diego, my first and best friend during preschool. We were
like brothers, but respected each other as peers. Around other boys, Diego was the opposite of the
person I would hang out with everyday. He almost had two personalities. Diego would tackle or fight
almost anyone that was in his way, including vocally with teachers. In one specific instance, Diego
had just learned the phrase, what the heck and was using it to everyone, excluding me. Throughout my
time with him, I would ask, Why are you so kind to me? Diego would always ignore me on that
question. I guess Diego treated me like I was special to him. When we would have playdates at his

Diego idolized me. I was always liked by everyone because of my kindness, and Diego wanted to

Science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated ; this seemingly simple statement is
found in a letter written by Rosalind Franklin to her father. Over seventy years after this declaration
was made, an abundance of people have proven its truth and unknowingly use this statement to
influence their education and life. Although Rosalind Franklin underwent various trials throughout her
life, generational research can attend that her persistence made her into the brilliant chemist that is still
remembered today. Rosalind Franklin s most recognized piece of work is her important contributions
in understanding the structure of DNA, a remarkable discovery considering her unexpectedly short
lifespan. When looking at the impact Franklin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

be easily assumed that the work environment became dreadful, and therefore Rosalind left the lab
within a year. Even though Rosalind had a poor start to her scientific career, she continued to pursue
her passion; her direction of work slightly altered as her second job focused on helping the soldiers at
war. Rosalind joined the Coal Utilization Research Association and was assigned to explore in great
detail the density and porous nature of coal, more specifically, Rosalind focused on the micropores
which were found at a molecular scale. It was during this time that people began fearing this war
would be like the First World War in the sense of the rapidly spreading poisonous gas. Therefore,
research into coal as filters for gas masks was urgent. This complex research proved to be valuable for
her following work positions which dealt with more microstructures. Cambridge University awarded
Rosalind a Doctorate based on her substantial research in this field of Physical Chemistry. Two years
after receiving her Doctorate she moved to Paris where she found a job using X ray diffraction; this
was generally used to determine the structure of crystal structures, but use began to explore the shape
of structure less molecules. In 1950 she was invited to build an X ray diffraction laboratory at King s
College and because of her expertise gained over the years, Rosalind was the lead researcher for
specific X ray efforts. When Maurice Wilkins returned to his laboratory he immediately assumed that
she was hired as an assistant to him. Both Wilkins and Rosalind started off on the wrong foot yet both
researched DNA, but did not collaborate with their efforts. Franklin quickly learned of the drastic

Sacco Vs Vanzetti
Upon his death sentence, Bartolomeo Vanzetti said, I wish to tell you that I am an innocent man. I
never committed any crime but sometimes some sin. I wish to forgive some people for what they are
now doing to me. On August 23, 1927, two innocent men were executed by electrocution in Boston.
Those two men were Sacco and Vanzetti, who were treated unjustly for prejudiced reasons. Both men
supported anarchist groups that promoted warfare against the government. Sacco and Vanzetti
received an unfair trial because of their radical political views, tainted witnesses in court, and denial of
a new trial.

the first degree, the Supreme Judicial Court must review both the law and the evidence ( Sacco

Educating Students For A Global Society
The twenty first century seemed light years away when I was in high school. It feels like we blinked
and suddenly we have arrived. With the dawn of this new century, the face of education is changing.
We have to prepare students for a global society. Our test scores show that American education reform
is not just a want but also a necessity. The diverse communities within our classrooms have forced us
to reevaluate best practices to meet the needs of our students. Collaborative teaching is one way to

learning strategies that make concepts understandable. When teachers plan together, they can ensure
that the needs of all lessons are presented in a way that will reach students. Today s classrooms have
many different challenges, and working with a colleague to meet those challenges is far superior to
working in isolation, as teachers frequently do (Dove). Planning together is key to ensuring that all

in collaborative teaching. Teachers will learn from each other s expertise and expand the scope of their
teaching capacity (Ferry, 2013). When teachers come together to provide instruction, they have the

incentives there are and what they re used for. Basically there s a way to motivate someone and set
them on a clearer path and bettering themselves in the future. One of the best motivations would be
money because well money can get you anything in the world. Clothes, food, and car, Etc. They are a
great way to motivate and give people that mind set to work for their money and not just lay there and

How Did The Enlightenment Influence Russian Government
Influences of the Enlightenment and Napoleonic France on Russia, Egypt and the Ottoman Empire
In the nineteenth century, leaders of Russia, Egypt and the Ottoman Empire looked to the seventeenth
and eighteenth century philosophies of the European Enlightenment and Napoleonic France as guides
for building a modern state. They emulated military strength and thriving academic and agricultural
institutions, as well as a direct relationship between the general population and national authority

response to the Enlightenment s emphasis on free thought and reason, he built new schools for

A Report On Mayak Disaster
Journal Article
Mayak Disaster
Following World War 2 in 1945 the Soviet Union began commissioning a secret nuclear reactor site
deep in the Ural Mountains as part of an atomic bomb project. This site was built hurriedly and in
secret; five nuclear reactors were built to make, refine, and machine plutonium for weapons in just 3 5
years. http://planetliberty.wikidot.com/nuclear power incidents. When Mayak successfully produced a
nuclear bomb, Moscow demanded more weapons giving less time. In order to deliver, Mayak
disregarded basic safety and environmental standards, leading to a series of nuclear accidents.
When the plant was first commissioned there were no controls in place to limit the amount of
radioactive materials being released. This led to the local environment being massively contaminated,
including the Techa River, which had 3 million curies of liquid waste pumped into it between 1949
and 1956. In 1951 the waste was directed to the Lake Karachai resulting in 120 million curies being
released into its water. The levels of Lake Karachai dropped in 1967 due to a drought which exposed
the contaminated shoreline. A windstorm dispersed 600 curies into the surrounding environment
contaminating 2700km2. http://www.radiation scott.org/mayak.htm On the 29th September 1957 the
residents of the local town, Kyshtym, noticed bluish colours in the sky; the media speculated that it
was polar lights. It soon became evident that the occurrence was due to events taking place at

The poem Blackberry Eating by Galway Kinnell is short but complex as it describes the narrator s
deep love for blackberries. The use of musical devices such as cacophony, alliteration, and repetition
reinforces the overall meaning of the poem by mimicking the narrator s pleasant experience eating the
fruit. Kinnell transports the reader to late September as he expresses the narrator s attraction to the fat,
overripe, icy, black blackberries. Kinnell s use of cacophony is evident throughout the entire poem as
he stresses the K sound to emphasize the tart, exploding characteristics of the berries. The narrator

first defrost it. Also, ensure that all other ingredients you add to are at least at room temperature. By
doing this you will be sure to attain the right cooking temperature within the recommended cooking
time. Considering cooking some freezer meal? Start by thawing it overnight or microwave it before
dipping it in your pot. The reason for this is that slow cookers are not meant to break down solid ice
blocks and your food might take too long to prepare (meaning it might be unsafe for you after all).
(5)Put Just the Right Amounts of Content
Overloading or under loading your cooker is a big no no. Slower cookers are designed to
accommodate two thirds or half full contents essentially leaving enough space for the cooking process
to take place. Anything above or below that would affect the cooking process. For instance, less than
normal quantities could mean that the liquid will evaporate too fast leaving the food to burn. Above
normal quantities on the other hand would result in

The Message Of Osama Bin Laden
On May 1, 2011 many Americans received the message we never thought would come. Every single
American was glued to their television sets that evening for a message we would never forget. It had
been previously leaked to the public that maybe Osama Bin Laden had in fact been killed, but it was
still uncertain until President Obama addressed the nation confirming his death. This ten minute
speech awaited the ears of millions of Americans longing for justice, and that night it had been served.
Barrack Obama was able to convey his message using various rhetorical devices, making his speech
one that was truly effective and memorable.
Our recollection of Osama Bin Laden began on a day that will live in history for years to come. On
September 11th 2011, terrorist hijacked four jetliners. Two planes were flown in to the World Trade
Center towers in New York City, one into the Pentagon, and the other crashed into a field in southern
Pennsylvania. These terrorist who hijacked these planes and caused the loss of thousands of lives were
part of Osama Bin Laden s terrorist group, al Qaeda. Due to this horrific tragedy, Americans became
emotionally scarred and were scared of the world around them. Osama became one of the most
wanted men alive, and Americans wanted justice. For ten years we waited for the answer that he was
caught, but On May 11th prayers were finally answered. President Obama s speech was one of the
most awaited in history. His speech restored a sense of confidence in

Chocolate Rita Dove
Rita Dove was the youngest poet and the first African American, who was appointed Poet Laureate
Consultant. Born in 1952 in Akron, Ohio, Rita Dove loved music and poetry from a young age. Rita s
father was one of the first chemists in the tire industry. Her exceptional academic achievements
determined her promotion to a Presidential Scholar as one of the top high school graduates in the
United States (Walsh, 1994). In Germany, Rita studied on a Fulbright Scholarship, and later became a
teacher of creative writing at the University of Arizona. Rita Dove has numerous awards for her work,
such as a 1987 Pulitzer Prize won for her book of poetry called Thomas and Beulah. Dove was the
first African American, who held the title (Consultant in Poetry) and who was appointed a mandate to

Moreover, the majority of her poems do not have a rhyme scheme. The poem Chocolate corresponds
to this description. Written in free verse, the poem tells about chocolate, but it has a hidden meaning,
which is clearly conveyed to the reader. Rita Dove uses imagery, personification, and metaphors to
compare chocolate to love. Stanza five demonstrates an evident relation of chocolate to Rita s lover,
claiming, For a taste of you/any woman would gladly/crumble to ruin (12 14). In this stanza, Dove
uses metaphors to compare chocolate to a man, whom Dove loves. Indicating that any woman could
crumble to ruin in order to be with chocolate, the author illustrates how irresistible is chocolate and
the man Dove is writing about. Dove shows that she is afraid of losing her love through the lines, If I

Essay on The Cruelty of Slavery and Opression in America
A Call for Action
The United States of America is known for its claims of democracy, equality, and freedom for all of it
s citizens. These claims are the foundation of America s independence and essentially its entire
history. But claims are simply all they were in history. While many achieved equal democracy and
freedom, the African American population of the US was exempt from these inalienable rights and
heavily oppressed by society. The cruelty of slavery and oppression as a whole reached its peak in the
19th century bringing upon the abolitionist movement, which eventually aided in the historic removal
of slavery and the continued fight for equal right of citizenship for African Americans. Of the many
abolitionists who fought for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In An Appeal to the Women of the Nominally Free States , Angelina Grimke immediately addresses
all women as her Beloved Sisters , white or black. She establishes her audience right away and
attempts to connect them through the powerful use of the sisterhood mentality. She begins to remind
all women of their important duties in the world and then questions why women are stripped of
political rights and duties solely because they are women, even though they are a crucial part of
society. She goes on to explain slavery as a brutish crime by which man is robbed of his inalienable
right to liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, the diadem of glory, and honor, with which he was
crowned, and that sceptre of dominion which was placed in his hand when he was ushered upon the
theater of creation. (Grimke). Grimke uses this vivid explanation of slavery to connect the oppression
of African Americans to the oppression of women and how women cannot forget that it is their duty to
help their fellow oppressed citizens, regardless of their skin color. She says that it is not only their
moral duty but also their political duty to act as members of The Great Human Family . She then
begins to specifically describe how slave women are

When Should Transgender Identification Begin
Research on Transgender Identification in Youth or Adulthood
The question at hand is whether or not it is more beneficial for a person with gender dysphoria to be
able to express the gender for which they identify with at a young age, or later, in adulthood.
In regards to sociology, symbolic interactionism is ideal for examining the way in which sociological
theory relates to transgender issues. This is because symbolic interactionism is the study of how
people relate to one another and their environment, but specifically how the relations between each
other have an effect on their environment. Blumer s conceptualization of symbolic interactionism,
known as the situational approach is the one most often used in sex research (Longmore, ... Show

Hopefully, by gaining insight into these interactions, it will help inform whether or not it is beneficial
for a child to be able to express their gender identity at a young age or whether it is more beneficial for
them to wait until adulthood.
A theory that would give insight into the research question in relation to psychology would be identity
theory. Stryker and Burke (2006) have the most relevant ideas on identity theory that would inform the
research question. In identity theory, it is used to show how people identify with being a particular
type of person; how they take on social roles and belong to social groups (Burke, 2006). Stryker
claimed that the greater number of people one is committed to being a certain type of person around
the more they identify with being that type of person (Burke, 2006). This poses interesting insight into
the research question of whether or not it is beneficial for a child to express their gender identity at a
young age and be out with everyone they know, or for an adult to have to slowly bring their identity
into existence among people individually and how this may have an effect on the person. Stryker also

Music During the Vietnam War Essay
In the nineteen sixties almost half of the American population were young adults. Because of this, the
sixties were an age of youth and there was a generation gap that America had never seen before. Many
of the baby boomers were at risk of being drafted into the Vietnam War. This war brought on
revolutionary and innovative ways of thinking. The young people of this decade wanted change and
this brought a huge difference in culture from the conservative fifties. Inspiration for many of the
songs and lyrics of the time came from the Vietnam War. The war caused many people to protest and
speak out about it. The main genres people used to show their attitudes about the current war were
folk and rock.

The Folk music scene was often connected with the hippy movement because of its calming and peace
promoting disposition. Many of the songs were about dodging the draft, wanting peace, and the power
of the people. This music brought people together in an anti violent way. Folk music was huge in New
York throughout the sixties and later moved to Los Angeles. People filled the seats of cafes and
lounges listening and singing along to the folk singers. . . . folk musicians addressed contemporary
issues facing college students, notably civil rights and, later, the Vietnam War (American Decades).
Bob Dylan was a pioneer of the antiwar movement. He opened a new section of music and inspired
millions. Although he wasn t the best singer in the traditional sense, his lyrics were what moved
people. For example in Man on the Street , Bob Dylan tells of the human suffering that is caused by
human cruelty. Dylan s lyrics were not so much a form of entertainment, but created to get the public
aware of what was going on in the world. Bob Dylan s imagination and energy with words is what
made him famous (Jake Rae).
By the time she was 22 Joan Baez was a well known folk singer. She sang in concert halls, college
campuses, and in foreign countries on tour. She never had the need to take voice lessons to improve
her voice because it already reached over three octaves. The Vietnam War had a huge influence on her

Dead Chivalry in the Wife of Bath’s Tale
In the time period between 1066 and 1485, better known as the medieval age, a set of standards and
how people are placed into order of importance in society is known as feudalism. In this caste system
there are four groups; Kings, Barons, Vassals, and Serfs. The main individual of focus comes from the
vassals, better known as the knight. Knights from this time period start out around 7 years old and are
taught a code of chivalry (code of conduct) and the basics of knight hood. The knight in the Wife of
Bath s tale forcibly violates a young madden and punished with execution by decapitation. He is saved
by the queen but is sent on a twelve month and a day quest. The knight in the Wife of Bath s Tale

The knight shows his true chivric colors by saying My lady and my love, my dearest wife, I leave the
matter to your wise decision. (406 407) By allowing his wife to chose for him he displays true
chivalry. He is also allowing to choose what she wants for her husband; this is a recall to the answer
she gave him to save his life.
The knight in the Wife of Bath s tale doesn t display chivalry by his actions of violating an innocent
woman and continues to dishonor this code by being deeming and crass to an old woman who helps
save his life yet at the end allows the old woman to make a decision regarding his life. Chivalry is a
code of conduct on how to treat and respect women. Raping a young madden is probably back in the
medieval ages illegal and against the code of chivalry for a knight. Chivalry is also a way of how to
behave, when acting rudely towards the old woman he breaks that code, even if it was not direct to her
face. At the end we see the knight finally display chivalry by allowing the old woman to decide his
fate and because he was chivric he got what he truly

Clarity And Insane By Emily Dickinson By Emily Dickinson
When the topic of clarity versus mysterious is discussed between this poem, one does definitely

Overall this poem consisting of six stanzas written by Emily Dickinson was about how the speaker

Full Metal Jacket Movie Analysis
Before watching the movie Full Metal Jacket, I thought it would be more of a comedic type of war
movie. This movie portrayed the sad part of war, where you lose your closes friends, and shows how
gruesome and cold war could be. In today s society, video games only portray the positive stigma of
war instead of showing the negatives and dark part of it.
My favorite scene of the movie was from the opening of the film to the first meeting between the U.S
Marine Corps recruits and the senior drill instructor Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. The reason I enjoyed
the beginning scene is because it had a lot of dark comedy where he was hazing the recruits. The first

The long June twilight faded into night. Dublin lay covered in mist and enveloped in darkness but for

over the streets and the dark waters of the Lake. Around the deserted Four Courts the heavy guns
roared. Here and there through the city, machine guns and rifles broke the silence of the night, like
dogs barking on lone farms. Republicans and Free Staters were waging civil war.
On a rooftop near O Connell Bridge, a Republican sniper lay watching. Beside him lay his rifle and

Just then an armoured car came across the bridge and moved slowly up the street. It stopped on the
opposite side of the street, fifty yards ahead. The sniper could hear the dull roar of the motor. His heart
beat faster. It was an enemy car. He wanted to fire, but he knew it was useless. His bullets would never
pierce the steel that covered the grey monster.
Then round the corner of a side street came an old woman, her head covered by a tattered shawl. She
began to talk to the man in the turret of the car. She was pointing to the roof where the sniper lay. An
informer.
The turret opened. A man s head and shoulders appeared, looking toward the sniper. The sniper raised
his rifle and fired. The head fell heavily on the turret wall. The woman darted toward the side street.
The sniper fired again. The woman whirled round and fell with a shriek into the gutter.
Suddenly from the opposite roof a shot rang out and the sniper dropped his rifle with a curse. The rifle
clattered to the roof. The sniper thought the noise would wake the dead. He stooped to pick the rifle

Between 2001 and 2006, there has been an increase of .6 cents for the reproduction of the penny. This

copper and 98% zinc. These elements are exponentially in demand causing the price of these materials

preposterous. A majority of these Lincolns have probably been trashed, thrown on the ground or

in our country. In a Gallup Poll of 1,002 adults conducted from June 11 of this year displayed
shocking results. Nearly 75% of those adults would stop and pick a penny that is present on the

Comparing Plato s Allegory Of The Cave And The Matrix
In Plato s Allegory of the Cave and the Wachowskis The Matrix, the ideas of truth are that it can only
be defined by how far one is willing to think outside of their own reality. Both the allegory and the
film depict truth as a key of sorts for individuals to break free from their imprisonment. This can be
seen by Neo s physical escape from the pod, which he had been unknowingly trapped in his whole life
and his ascension to light after being swept down the pod s tube. The tube which swept Neo away is
alike to the freed prisoner being dragged...into the sunlight by force in Plato s allegory; the two
characters are being forced to have their senses enlightened once they ve been freed from the chains
on their bodies (but their minds still need to get adjusted to seeing the world in a new way). However,
the allegory and the film differ in that Plato s prison is a physical cave which houses it s prisoners,
while the matrix is a program that confines people s minds, thus is limitless while inside. With ...

Many people have raised the issue of having the name changed to something different over the past
couple of years but no changes have been made. There hope is to end the racial incidences that occur
and ultimately stop racism on these two campuses. The major question at hand is will changing the
name of Tillman Hall reduce the number of race induced incidents? I do think that changing the name
of Tillman Hall on both of these two campuses will reduce racial incidences due to the fact that this
changes the atmosphere of the school and really holds itself up to its diversity standard, the changing
of the name does not change history but it shows that we as a people have come far and don t need

If a white woman sees two black men walking towards her and turns the other way, she s a racist. Well
I got scared and didn t say anything, and the next thing I knew, I had a gun shoved in my head!
Perhaps stereotypes like that have maintained their prevalence because there are so many people that
perpetuate them. It is often believed that all young black men are destined to be thugs, criminals and
drug dealers. Additionally it is a common statistic that the majority of incarcerated males are African
American. As a young black man, it must be difficult to break free of that stereotype.
Things will never change. That attitude along with the perpetuation of existing stereotypes may be
largely responsible for negative racial longevity. Ludacris character was one of the most interesting to
me. Here was this articulate young black man that spent his life stealing cars from white people. Rap

On the reverse, trouble facing stereotypes can occur anywhere. They are not simply restricted to skin

Russian in this scene reflects the misrepresentation of the Russian language in The Avengers. For a
woman born and raised in the Soviet Russia, Natasha Romanoff has a notably American accent in
comparison to the thug speaking Russian. Minor, yet explicitly antagonistic and foolish Russian

Therefore, The Avengers uses the vilified Russian identity for entertainment. Furthermore, the scene
emphasizes Romanoff s characterization as a Russian beauty. During the conversation, the thug
comments on Romanoff s beauty: she is just a pretty face. Romanoff appears to question this
statement, with a quipped retort: You really think that I m pretty? However, the visual depiction of an
ensuing fight suggests that the one of the most important components of Romanoff s characterization
is her attractive face and bust. As she throws punches, including one seemingly from her bright red
hair, the camera angles frame to flaunt Romanoff s upper body. The final shot of the fight features her
glistening face and bust in the middle of the frame. Just as the dialogue suggests, Romanoff s physical
beauty is emphasized. Therefore, being a distinctly Russian woman in The Avengers entails the
highlighting of an appealing visual aesthetic, the misrepresentation of language, and an ability to trick

I Am Sam Assignment
I Am Sam Augment Essay I Am Sam is a film directed by Jessie Nelson, it describes the relationship
between a father Sam who has a mental capacity of a 7 year old and his daughter Lucy. The film
focused on Love and whether love is enough to raise a child. In our modern society it seems that
Money is the golden key to open the door to succuss, even though money covers a significant part of
care that is given to a child. There are still some part of areas that money cannot for fill. Many parents
made the mistake into thinking that a new born child is harder the rise than a ten years old. Which is
not the case in most of the times, whereas older children can develop wilder interest come to a toddler.
A child is learns from their parents and they are lot alike. Where they will grow up and share the same

Watson s goal was to present nursing as a distinct entity, a profession, a discipline and science in its own right, separate from, but complementary to, medicine (Watson, 1985). Her theory was never stagnate and evolved over time with the changes of nursing. Watson s theory began with the Carative factors, which guides the fundamentals of nursing. Carative factors are looked at as caring actions nurses can carry out day by day. Some of the factors included instillation of faith and hope and development of a helping trusting human caring relationship (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2015). Watson ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Watson s theory put forth the idea that one has to go beyond owns own ego to reach a deeper spiritual connection while comforting a patient which she defined as transpersonal. Transpersonal caring seeks to connect with and embrace the spirit or soul of the other through the processes of caring and healing and being in authentic relation; in the moment (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2015). A Transpersonal caring relationship is the foundation of her work; the nurse s ability to focus on caring, healing and wholeness rather than disease, illness and medicine. Watson (1989,1999) says that when human caring is produced the nurse and patient come together to create a moment, this is known as the caring occasion/caring moment. A caring moment involves an action and choice by the nurse and patient to connect on a deeper spiritual level to promote healing. Now a few assumptions were then made on Watsons Theory of Human Caring and/or Watsons Care Model as it relates to the science of caring. To start, caring is central to nursing. Caring consists of the carative factors, and if nurses follow these factors it will lead to patient satisfaction of certain human needs. A caring environment is one that offers the development of potential while allowing the person to choose the best action for him or herself at any given stage (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2015). The two films, even though they were about the same story of star cross d lovers, were completely different. The 1996 version made the timeless classic, Romeo and Juliet, much more modern and relatable. The decision to depict Romeo and Juliet, in a bustling city was a daring move, but was still able to convey the theme that Shakespeare had intended nearly 400 years ago. So we know that atoms make up everything in the universe and atoms are made up of protons, neutrons and electrons. So what makes protons, neutrons and electrons? Diagram ... The reason is that atoms are so small and the best microscopes can only view so much of atoms at that scale. Even if we could view electrons they would move too fast for the human eye. We can only estimate where the electrons are, that is why the modern model of the atoms has an electron cloud surrounding the nucleus of an atom instead of a set orbit. • 10. Grandparent s Speech in Hindi Reducing Costs through Production and Supply Chain Management by Vinod Lall Executive Summary There are numerous drivers of production and the supply chain, and there are several processes under each driver. These processes are associated with high overheads and offer opportunities for cost reduction. Cost reduction requires a complete knowledge and mapping of all costs, cycle times, purchases, inventories, suppliers, customers, logistics, and other service providers throughout the supply chain. Cost reduction in the supply chain often requires trade off analysis amongst conflicting alternatives using the total cost approach. Successfully achieving supply chain cost savings requires the use of cross functional teams with representation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These include component commonality, component modularity, and postponement. Component commonality: The principle of component commonality focuses on the design and use of common components for families of products. When there are a large number of products in a supply chain, the inventory of components will naturally be large. Component commonality calls for the use of common components in a variety of products. This reduces costs not only by reducing inventory cost but also through reduced material cost, reduced production cost, and reduced product obsolescence. For example, a computer manufacturer can design common components such as memory and disk drives and use different combinations of these components to produce different finished products. Component modularity: The principle of component modularity recommends that common subsystems be designed as modules to meet a broad range of feature requirements. This reduces the number of components that must be produced, kept in materials and repair parts inventory, and integrated into the product during the production process. This reduces procurement, manufacturing, and inventory costs, leading to a lower supply chain cost. Manufacturers of electronic products, for example, use the principle of modularity to design and assemble printers, computers, and so on. Rosalind joined the Coal Utilization Research Association and was assigned to explore in great detail the density and porous nature of coal, more specifically, Rosalind focused on the micropores which were found at a molecular scale. It was during this time that people began fearing this war would be like the First World War in the sense of the rapidly spreading poisonous gas. Therefore, research into coal as filters for gas masks was urgent. This complex research proved to be valuable for her following work positions which dealt with more microstructures. Cambridge University awarded Rosalind a Doctorate based on her substantial research in this field of Physical Chemistry. Two years after receiving her Doctorate she moved to Paris where she found a job using X ray diffraction; this was generally used to determine the structure of crystal structures, but use began to explore the shape of structure less molecules. In 1950 she was invited to build an X ray diffraction laboratory at King s College and because of her expertise gained over the years, Rosalind was the lead researcher for specific X ray efforts. When Maurice Wilkins returned to his laboratory he immediately assumed that she was hired as an assistant to him. Full Metal Jacket Peter Jacoy TH208 November 17th, 2014 Full Metal Jacket Movie Analysis Before watching the movie Full Metal Jacket, I thought it would be more of a comedic type of war movie. This movie portrayed the sad part of war, where you lose your closes friends, and shows how gruesome and cold war could be. In today s society, video games only portray the positive stigma of war instead of showing the negatives and dark part of it. My favorite scene of the movie was from the opening of the film to the first meeting between the U.S Marine Corps recruits and the senior drill instructor Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. The reason I enjoyed the beginning scene is because it had a lot of dark comedy where he was hazing the recruits. The first time I saw this scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dublin lay covered in mist and enveloped in darkness but for the dim light of the moon that glazed through fleecy clouds, casting a pale light approaching dawn over the streets and the dark waters of the Lake. Around the deserted Four Courts the heavy guns roared. Here and there through the city, machine guns and rifles broke the silence of the night, like dogs barking on lone farms. Just then an armoured car came across the bridge and moved slowly up the street. It stopped on the opposite side of the street, fifty yards ahead. The sniper could hear the dull roar of the motor. His heart beat faster. It was an enemy car. He wanted to fire, but he knew it was useless. His bullets would never pierce the steel that covered the grey monster. Then round the corner of a side street came an old woman, her head covered by a tattered shawl. She began to talk to the man in the turret of the car. She was pointing to the roof where the sniper lay. An informer. The turret opened. A man s head and shoulders appeared, looking toward the sniper. The sniper raised his rifle and fired. The head fell heavily on the turret wall. The woman darted toward the side street. The sniper fired again. The woman whirled round and fell with a shriek into the gutter. Suddenly from the opposite roof a shot rang out and the sniper dropped his rifle with a curse. The rifle clattered to the roof. The sniper thought the noise would wake the dead. Like Amy Chua, Nigerian Parents assume strength not fragility (Chua, 2011 p.52). Nigerian parents/student immigrants understand this because of where they come from. For all Nigerian/African immigrants, America is deemed as the land of opportunity and so there is no room for failure when transitioning from no opportunity to many opportunities and possibilities. • 36. Comparing Plato s Allegory Of The Cave And The Matrix In Plato s Allegory of the Cave and the Wachowskis The Matrix, the ideas of truth are that it can only be defined by how far one is willing to think outside of their own reality. Both the allegory and the film depict truth as a key of sorts for individuals to break free from their imprisonment. This can be seen by Neo s physical escape from the pod, which he had been unknowingly trapped in his whole life and his ascension to light after being swept down the pod s tube. The tube which swept Neo away is alike to the freed prisoner being dragged...into the sunlight by force in Plato s allegory; the two characters are being forced to have their senses enlightened once they ve been freed from the chains on their bodies (but their minds still need to get adjusted to seeing the world in a new way). This is the name of the main building on Winthrop University s campus and is the name of the clock tower at Clemson University. These two buildings have faced quite a number of racial incidences over the past couple of years due to the founder of the two buildings, Benjamin R. Tillman. Many people have raised the issue of having the name changed to something different over the past couple of years but no changes have been made. There hope is to end the racial incidences that occur and ultimately stop racism on these two campuses. The major question at hand is will changing the name of Tillman Hall reduce the number of race induced incidents? I do think that changing the name of Tillman Hall on both of these two campuses will reduce racial incidences due to the fact that this changes the atmosphere of the school and really holds itself up to its diversity standard, the changing of the name does not change history but it shows that we as a people have come far and don t need someone like Benjamin Tillman at the center representing us, and it is very likely that these racial incidents will be put to an end as the violent racist and his legacy is gone. Tillman Hall which was originally known as Main Building was built in 1894 and served as the main point of Winthrop University s Campus. Physical characteristics and racial differences may be interpreted as two distinguishing traits that separate us. I think it s what keeps us apart. That leaves several abstract questions that the film Crash illustrates. What are the origins of personal prejudice? Do individual experiences fuel standing stereotypes? Is it easier to perpetuate existing stereotypes because things will never change? Can people battle internal struggles within their own ethnic group? What prohibits us from overcoming these prejudices? The writers of the Crash managed to extend my viewing experience beyond the 90 minute film, thus forcing me to analyze my ... Perhaps stereotypes like that have maintained their prevalence because there are so many people that perpetuate them. It is often believed that all young black men are destined to be thugs, criminals and drug dealers. Additionally it is a common statistic that the majority of incarcerated males are African American. As a young black man, it must be difficult to break free of that stereotype. Things will never change. That attitude along with the perpetuation of existing stereotypes may be largely responsible for negative racial longevity. Ludacris character was one of the most interesting to me. Here was this articulate young black man that spent his life stealing cars from white people. Rap music is the music of the oppressor, he said. As the first female Avenger, Natasha Romanoff s physical attractiveness and her Russian heritage have been emphasized most in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Donned in a short, revealing black cocktail dress, Romanoff slyly gains information from the thugs, while feigning ignorance.
