The Music Of A Christmas Carol
about it (Gaskell 18). James, who is another servant, tells Hester that she has mistaken the wind
soughing among the trees for music (Gaskell 17). Hester must force Agnes, by way of rank, to reveal
that it is believed that the dead old lord , plays the organ (Gaskell 18). Miss Furnivall is first connected
with the music, when Hester claims that she thought it was her playing the organ (Gaskell 18). Being
that Miss Furnivall is deaf, and is therefore an unlikely musician, this insinuates that Miss Furnivall is
connected to this problem. However similar to A Christmas Carol , the music is suggested to be
derived from ghostly means, because the organ is found to be broken inside, therefore unable to be
played normally (Gaskell 18). This thought is later underlined when the child, Rosamond, goes
missing, and ghosts threaten the household, further emphasizing that a problem exists (Gaskell 20,24).
Music is suggested many ways to cause her problems between Miss Furnivall and her sister, Miss
Maude, rather than aid the sisters in a solution. Both sisters fell in love with the same man, a foreign
musician, whom their father had down from London to play music (Gaskell 26). The sisters develop a
rivalry over the foreigner (Gaskell 27). The foreigner is never given a name because it is suggested
that he is not consequential as a person, but rather as a problem between the sisters. As he is of lower
rank and not British, he is developed to play on Victorian fears, and social

The Consequences Of Revenge In Rita Hayworth And The...
A child hits someone; they hit them back. An individual deceives someone; they seek retaliation.
While growing up as individuals in society, the phrase Two wrongs do not make a right is well known.
The phrase is a lesson. It means because someone does something wrong towards another individual it
is not justified to do something retaliate. As human beings, the motive behind retaliation is revenge,
which is the reaction behind every negative outcome towards another person. In life, behind every
action that is made, a consequence follows. People in society must take the negativity that is thrown
towards them, and turn it into positivity. The novel Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption
shows many instances why two wrongs do not make a right. For instance, all heinous crimes in the
novel are committed for the sake of retaliation. In general, every action that is made can often be
justified; however, a positive outcome is not always guaranteed. Growing up, people hear [G]et over it
and move on or let bygones be bygones . . . (Ford 285). Sometimes in life, Turning the other cheek is
another way of avoiding problems so they will not cause a conflict with another individual. Negative
conflicts would cause two wrongs to be made that could result in a hurtful outcome. For example,
when a person does wrong the negative effect will follow. Although some may disagree, others may
think that two wrongs do make a right: An act, which otherwise would be wrong, can be right when
performed in the presence of, or in response to another act committed by an individual towards
another. . . It may even be the case that two acts, each of which would be wrong in isolation, are both
rendered permissible by the presence of the other. (Kavka 61) Each person is in control of their actions
in life. Although conscience may make each individuals actions seem honorable, the truth is they
might be.
In the novel, Red felt what he was doing as a husband was not enough for his father in law. Although
he did everything that was asked of him in order to be that best husband, it was not good enough. He
felt the need that he

Exploring The Roots Of The Recurring Subjects And Symbols...
After nearly two centuries completely lacking in images, early Christians finally developed a pictorial
language to express their faith. The conventions developed early on would come to define the middle
ages, an entire era of almost exclusively Christian images. Early Christians adopted classical
conventions for their art, which would serve an opposing purpose for outsiders and initiates. For
outsiders, the symbols meant no harm. But to followers of the faith, the images are loaded with
meaning. The meaning inherent in the history of the symbol, when combined with a biblical context,
creates a full and multi faceted iconographic tradition. The purpose of this paper is to explore the roots
of the recurring subjects and symbols evident in the funerary paintings in Catacombs of Domitilla in
Rome.
Funerary paintings and sculpture provide the most thorough evidence of early Christian art. An
exceptional visual tradition has been preserved in the vast network of underground burial systems: the
Roman catacombs. One of the most extensive of these is the Catacomb of Domitilla. Beginning in the
third century CE, the Catacombs of Domitilla housed thousands of bodies from families rich and poor,
and extended for over seventeen kilometers in four distinct subterranean levels. In terms of style, most
of the works are indistinguishable from Roman paintings. If anything, the art style is a more rushed
and cramped version of illusionistic Roman wall painting. The use of iconography is

The Antarctic Krill s Decline
Study conducted by British Antarctic Survey in 2004 emphasized that Antarctic krill numbers are
declining. Krill are very significant to the Antarctic food web and this decline could threaten whales,
seals and penguins all of which rely on krill. The decline of krill has been associated to a intense
decline in sea ice, their habita. Sea ice is a vigorous feeding ground for the enormous number of krill
in the Southern Ocean. The research shows that krill decreased by about 80% since the 1970s. Krill
feed on the algae which are found under the surface of the sea ice. The Antarctic Peninsula, an
important breeding ground for the krill, has experienced an unusual shrinkage of sea ice. It has been
intensely advocated that enhanced UV B radiation

Iago Deception In Othello
In Shakespeare s Othello, a secondary character, Iago, is continuously able to twist the thoughts of
other characters. Iago s ability to convince others of false information and lead people into
misconceptions reminds me of a harsh memory from my past. While I enjoyed my young teenage
years, there is always a time that eats away at my mind. If Othello and the others that Iago so easily
deceived had lived they would also look back with regret in a similar way that I do. Deception drove
Iago s personality and actions; deception was also a main reason I lost a friend that I entrusted in and
counted on daily. Iago is the gateway to deception in Othello. It is through Iago that readers are able to
see how deception can essentially ruin a relationship or those that are being deceived. One of first
examples seen of Iago s deception is seen in Act 1 Scene 3. While Iago is giving is first soliloquy he
explains his plotting to ruin Othello and Desdemona s marriage. Specifically, Iago says After some
time, to abuse Othello s ear that he is too familiar with his wife... The Moor is of a free and open
nature that thinks men honest that bet seem to be so. Here Iago says he plans on convincing Othello
that Cassio is becoming too intimate with Desdemona. He believes that this will work because Cassio
is a smooth and easy talker and also a good looking guy. Iago continues to say that Othello is easily
convinced because he thinks any man who seems honest must be honest. Later in the play Iago
successfully convinces Othello that Desdemona is fornicating with Cassio and no longer loves him. In
Act 4 Scene 1 Iago and Othello discuss Cassio and Desdemona, Iago argues that he believes that the
two are becoming very flirtatious. Othello does not want to believe this about Desdemona. For Iago to
prove to Othello that Cassio has been with Desdemona, he orders Othello to hide and watch Cassio s
face throughout the conversation. Iago also tells Othello look out for Cassio laughing as that is a sign
that he is admitting to being Desdemona. All of this is Iago s maneuvers of deception, by acting as the
good guy to Othello he makes Othello trust in him more and leads to easier deception on Iago s part.

Essay on Rewriting History in Henry IV
Rewriting History in Henry IV
The master of historiography is, perhaps, Shakespeare as evidenced by his History Plays. Whereas
most writers merely borrow from history to fuel their creative fires, Shakespeare goes so far as to
rewrite history. The First Part of Henry the Fourth follows history fairly closely, and Shakespeare
draws this history primarily from Raphael Holinshed s Chronicle of England, Scotland, and Ireland
and from Samuel Daniel s verse epic The Civil Wars (Abrams 823).
The play opens shortly after Henry Bolingbroke has usurped the throne from Richard II, becoming the
fourth King Henry, and changing the royal lineage from the House of Plantagenet to the House of
Lancaster. In the opening ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the most part, Shakespeare did indeed fabricate Falstaff, Poins, and the whole Tavern Group, yet
historical evidence does support some sort of provincial getaway. McFarlane records that in 1412 the
younger Henry remained dissatisfied [with his father] and shortly afterwards withdrew once more into
the provinces, where he was soon again at his old tricks (110). Shakespeare originally named the
character of Falstaff after the Protestant martyr John Oldcastle. Shakespeare eventually bowed to the
objections of Oldcastle s descendants, renaming the character (Abrams 823).
At the Battle of Shrewsbury, Shakespeare describes how Hal kills Hotspur, eulogizes him (5.4.78
102), and then concedes the victory of the kill to Falstaff (5.4.138 50). History records that Hal
himself suffered an arrow shot to the face (Rowse 44) and that no one knows for certain who killed
Hotspur (Jacob 52 3). History further records that, as for the eulogy, it was the king who shed tears
over Hotspur s slain figure, not the young prince (Rowse 45). Despite Hotspur being three years older
than Hal s father (Hotspur died at age thirty nine) (Rowse 44), Shakespeare paints the portrait of
Hotspur and Hal as contemporaries, following poet Daniel s lead (Drabble 475). Rowse does note,
however, that Shakespeare did capture the essence in Hotspur of something not grown up about this
fighting man, who

How To Evaluate Own Performance
How to evaluate your performance against the requirement of your work role.
When evaluating performance against the requirements of your work role it is important to review
your job description regularly, by doing this you can identify areas in which you are and are not
performing.
Appraisal with a line manager is a key way to monitor and evaluate performance as employees are
expected to review their job descriptions and identify where they believe they are performing well and
to identify ways in which they can improve their performance.
Another way of evaluate your own performance against your work role is; in the beginning of
employment usually an organisation set performance review dates around every 6 weeks throughout
the probation period, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following feedback received I am then able to incorporate any revised or new objectives set into my
future development plans.
Feedback from management also reiterate what is expected of me by the organisation and it gives me
the opportunity to reiterate what I expect from the organisation in the form of supporting my
development.
An example of where to seek personal feedback is from family and colleagues, family will provide me
with true personal feedback which could be negative including lack of time spent with family due to
work commitments or positive including they are proud of my progress in a course/qualification.
Family are able to provide support with my own development through providing feedback, financial
support and emotional support.
Colleagues can provide feedback on professional development but in a personal way, they can provide
feedback on where my strengths and weaknesses are but can provide true feedback e.g. if I am causing
them additional work by a gap in my own development or they can request support from me with their
development. Colleagues are able to provide support with my own development in the form of
mentoring, job shadowing and feedback.

Natural Rate Of Unemployment Essay
Natural rate of unemployment
The natural rate of unemployment (sometimes called the structural unemployment rate) is a concept of
economic activity developed in particular by Milton Friedman and Edmund Phelps in the 1960s, both
recipients of the Nobel prize in economics. In both cases, the development of the concept is cited as a
main motivation behind the prize.[1][2] It represents the hypothetical unemployment rate consistent
with aggregate production being at the long run level. This level is consistent with aggregate
production in the absence of various temporary frictions such as incomplete price adjustment in labor
and goods markets. The natural rate of unemployment therefore corresponds to the unemployment rate
prevailing under a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, the prices a company charges are closely connected to the wages it pays. Figure 1 shows a
typical Phillips curve fitted to data for the United States from 1961 to 1969. The close fit between the
estimated curve and the data encouraged many economists, following the lead of Paul Samuelson and
Robert Solow, to treat the Phillips curve as a sort of menu of policy options. For example, with an
unemployment rate of 6 percent, the government might stimulate the economy to lower
unemployment to 5 percent. Figure 1 indicates that the cost, in terms of higher inflation, would be a
little more than half a percentage point. But if the government initially faced lower rates of
unemployment, the costs would be considerably higher: a reduction in unemployment from 5 to 4
percent would imply more than twice as big an increase in the rate of inflation about one and a quarter
percentage points.
At the height of the Phillips curve s popularity as a guide to policy, Edmund Phelps and Milton
Friedman independently challenged its theoretical underpinnings. They argued that well informed,
rational employers and workers would pay attention only to real wages the inflation adjusted
purchasing power of money wages. In their view, real wages would adjust to make the supply of labor
equal to the demand for labor, and the unemployment rate would then stand at a level uniquely
associated with that real wage the natural rate of unemployment.

The Image Of Nursing
The Image of Nursing Nurses has created a particular image on society and within their profession
realm, that depicts them as quite a unique individual, specializing in delivery of quality,
compassionate and caring care that is so unique in a meaningful way. With the media involved, the
images, both reflect and reinforce the social aspect of nursing throughout the continuum of care. This
essay will seek to explore common and complexed images of nursing and tell a story of how those
images can play a part in the reflecting and the various status of the nursing we know today.

The media did not do any justice in depicting stories about the values of the nurse, yet alone the
integrity, until the CAN ( The Center of nursing advocacy, 2007) decided to enlist a program where
nurses were honored and rewarded for outstanding achievement in care. From the advent of the
introduction of improved curriculum to now include the highest level of achievement for nursing, the
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), where nurses can not only write prescriptions and treat
independently, but can advance to research, enabling better evidence based practices (Andrews l. D.,
2007). The patients appears, from various studies, to be more apt to follow instructions from the nurse
over the doctor, as they see the nurse as giving a more personalized treatment, and a working
relationship, extends far out from being a patient in the hospital, to home care services where they are
happy to receive quality care in the comfort of their own home. The Friendly Face of Nursing
Although, today, there are many male nurses, the overwhelming site of a nurse, is that smiling female
who seems to care so much about your comfort. The friendliness in which she asks how are you today

formed a bond (Johnson Johnson, 2007). The nurse in the home care setting, becomes more

How Important Was Stresemann
Losing the First World War crippled Germany, Germany was in financial crisis and the country itself
had lost many of their own family. Famine stroke and Germans were hungry. As Germany already had
so many debts to pay for losing the war they didn t have enough to feed their own people. In this essay
we will discuss how significant Stressman was in the recovery of his country.
Stresemann was the leader of the German peoples party, he was supported by the social democrats
when he became chancellor in 1923. Stresemann Wanted to help his country by finding a way to make
paying for reparations less heavy on the shoulders of his country. To do so he undertook negotiations

As the government chose to print more money to pay their debts to the big three for losing the war, the
value of money decreased. To stop that whole problem of hyperinflation Stresemann decided to
replace the old worthless money with Rentenmark, a currency that he created to stop the problem of
hyperinflation.
Stresemann used the money lent by the USA by reinvesting that money to build new factories, which
meant that more Germans had jobs and that meant that Germans could be able to provide for their
families. It also generated income for the country and more goods were produced and they could trade
with other countries. The money lent by the USA was put to good use and Germany was becoming
richer and more able to pay the debts.
Stresemann then agreed to the Locarno treaty, the Locarno treaty enabled Germany to join the league
of nations and it made Germany agree that they would respect the borders set by the Treaty of
Versailles. This secured Germany and France from attacks as they agreed to not attack each other but
in the case of Germany attacking France, France would be backed up by Britain and other countries.
The fact that Germany joined the League of Nations made its trade increase as it made other countries
trust Germany

Parkinson s Disease and Body Weight
Parkinson s Disease: Relationship with Parkinson s Disease and Body Weight Ethics are the key to the
safe and reliable supply of services within an industry. Modern medicine has several ethical standards
in place. The College of Nurses (CNO) states that considering ethical issues is essential to providing
care. The ethical framework is in place to guide nurses in the changing times of new technology and to
help prevent and work through ethical conflicts (College of Nurses, 2009, p. 3). A registered practical
nurse has been documenting her patient Mr. Gurt s weight inaccurately. Patient care is a very

presented, there has been an ethical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gurt is already thin and weak; therefore his bones are as well and he is at a higher risk for breaking
bones or falling because he will have reduced strength. With weakened bones, he is at risk for
osteoporosis, joint pain and inflammation, arthritis, a weakened immune system, and trouble
regulating body temperature which can lead to very preventable complications. Mr. Gurt s skin is
breaking down partly due to environmental factors but mostly due to lack of care. If the health care
staff repositions Mr. Gurt every two to four hours, the rick of ulcers will decrease, allowing for
optimal skin integrity achievement. The registered practical nurse can be charged with negligence and
staff may receive suspension or loss of license to practice or with restrictions. The nurse may have
taught other staff members especially anyone who was new the improper way to complete a task and
documentation. Ultimately, the hospital could become subject to legal questioning due to the absence
of ethical practices. This can prove to be very problematic as it holds the potential to result in a legal
lawsuit due to the inaccuracy of patient information maintenance. This can cause further implications
on the evolution of the hospital as it will be forced to deal with expenses regarding legal issues that
could have been easily avoided. The hospitals standards will be viewed as incomplete and or not
enforced because the nurse has not been confronted about her actions. The hospitals

Why Did Israel Want A King Essay
Why did the people of Israel desire a king? During the time of Samuel the leadership of the judges
was unsuccessful. The people of Israel grew far from God and had to call among the Judges and
Prophets to redeem their people. Hebrews tells us how the people that were called in to redeem the
people of Israel were faulty and flawed. Gideon lacked the courage, Barack was a hesitant leader,
Samson lusted after women, and Ehud was left handed; these are some of the major flaws the leaders
of this age faced. Ed Hindson and Gary Yates explained, Because a judge could only partially and
imperfectly administer Torah (legislative function), execute Justice (executive function), and condemn
law breakers (judicial function), a king was needed who could more effectively fulfill all three roles.
The stories in Judges also, show that not just any king could effectively govern the nation but rather a
king who honored God s covenant (1). It is obvious why the Israelites desired a King, they needed
someone willing to lead their nation and be successful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

16:7 states, But the Lord said to Samuel, Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have
rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward

Cash Registers
Lately cash registers were the one game around, but nowadays companies have a lot more choices.
Changing those antiquated cash registers with modern point of sales devices posesses variety of
important benefits, including:
1. Point of sales systems simplify the accounting process. Old fashioned cash registers drive
accountants to evaluate a huge selection of receipts, but with a spot of sales system financial staff can
merely use the built in accounts or create their own.
2. Unlike a check out, a spot of deal system often includes a standard inventory management system.
Store owners may use a spot of sales system to keep tabs on their biggest retailers and reorder those
products when stock gets low.
3. It is not hard to research past transactions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Point of sales devices provide faster service than old fashioned cash registers. Every section of the
process, from authorizing a debit card transaction to producing a person receipt, is faster on a spot of
sales device.
7. Customers acquire more interesting itemized receipts with a spot of sales devices. Many cash
registers can only just print the time and the quantity of the deal, but since point of deal devices are
linked in to the inventory control system they provides much more specific information, including a
explanation of that, the list price and the sales price.
8. Point of deal devices can lessen user errors. Striking an incorrect key is always a risk when buzzing
a deal, but point of sales devices have built in bank checks to ensure that the info is entered
effectively.
9. You can view real time inventory with a spot of sales device, something that even the best cash
registers just can t do. Actually, many companies have discovered that implementing a spot of sales
system practically reduces the necessity for an expensive hand count.
10. The maintenance and repair costs tend to be lower on a spot of deal device when compared to a
cash register. The amount of companies that repair cash registers is dwindling, and which means that
repair costs can be somewhat high. There are numerous suppliers who repair point of sales devices,
which will keep repair costs

Brilliant Mathematicians from History Shape Math of Today
Mathematicians not only play an important role in society today, but all the brilliant math minds from
the past helped shape every mathematical theory we know, study, and learn today. Math is used every
single day, in every continent, every country, every state, and every city. It is the way we solve
everyday problems. It is the way we calculate the distance from sun to earth, the way we determine
amount of miles one drives from their home to work, the way we estimate our grocery bill before
approaching a register, the way we figure out the probability of failing or passing a test, it is the way
we as humans approach, solve, and conclude problems we face day in, and day out. There are a
various amount of languages spoken to communicate in our world today, but math is one that people
from all different parts of planet earth understand, and use for the same purposes. Mathematicians are
in a way, unsung heroes, without their discoveries, we would be lost, confused, and not nearly as
intelligent. Gauss was one of those heroes. Carl Freidrich Gauss was a German mathematician and a
physical scientist also known as the Prince of Mathematics . He was born on April 30th, 1777 in
Brunswick, Germany and was born to poor, working class parents. His mother was illiterate and his
father was a gardener/brick layer. His father did not want Gauss to attend school, he wanted him to

Selfies help people express themselves in ways they would have never before. You are usually very
comfortable with your own self taking pictures and not others, therefore you can be funny, nerdy, or
sexy without feeling judged. Time magazine reports that selfies can just be an outlet of self expression
and we shouldn t be so consumed with all the selfies floating in cyber space. Self captured images
allow young adults and teens to express their mood states and share important experiences, says Dr.
Andrea Letamendi, a clinical psychologist and research fellow at UCLA. As teens and adolescents try
to form their identity, selfies serve as a way to test how they look, and therefore feel, in certain outfits,
make up, poses and places. And because we live in a digital world, selfies provide a way of
participating and interacting with that world. Selfies has also allowed women to publicly celebrate
their flaws. For example, Demi Lovato has posted selfies to Instagram without any makeup on and has
encouraged her fans to do likewise. Other sites have been supporting women to take selfies everyday
for a year, regardless of how they

Giant Otter Essay
Giant otter populations have suffered since the 1940s different anthropic pressures: hunting for skins
(1940 1975), gold mining (mercury contamination), deforestation, human population growth and
increased demand for fishery resource, for consumption and sale. The latter scenario, along with
processes of loss of ancestral knowledge and cultural traditions of indigenous peoples and their entry
into active participation in the market, have blunted the ancestral coexistence between Amazonian
indigenous communities and populations of giant otter.

runs about an hour long, and completely devoid of plot, but still has a very powerful message. Much
of Tongues Untied s message comes from the cinematography, close up on lips as a black pastor

With this approach, it shows a personal account and fiction in an attempt to show the level of detail of
black gay identity. The silence referred to throughout the film is that of black gay men, who are unable

The story structure of Tongues Untied is both interesting and unusual. Besides including fact filled

Henry Turner Movie Essay
Sigmund Freud was the first psychologist to suggest that everyone has a large unconscious. He also
identified three parts of the personality: the id, ego, and superego. Freud said that the id operates on
pleasure principle , the ego operates on reality principle , and the superego operates on moral principle
. A great showcase of the different parts of the personality can be found within the movie Regarding
Henry. In this movie Henry Turner falls victim to an armed man in his local convenience store. After
the accident Henry s personality, and life in general, undergoes a drastic change. In my opinion, Henry
s natural state is his id. In this movie, Henry Turner appears to be largely controlled by his id. One of
the first big examples of this is when he leaves the house late at night by himself to go purchase
cigarettes. Henry goes out at a dangerous hour because he feels the need for a cigarette and this is
what results in him being shot. Another example of him using his id is when he lashes out at his
caretaker, Bradley. Henry loves Bradley but when Bradley tries to tell him that it s time to go back
home Henry is overcome by emotions and lashes out. He screams at Bradley, which is very out of ...

The id is what causes your impulsive actions, the ego is what makes you step back and rationalize, and
the superego is what controls your morals. Henry Turner spends a large majority of the movie
operating on his superego. It makes him more loving and compassionate, contrary to how he acted
while operating on his id. After the accident, his natural state is definitely his superego. This film
helps to show how easily our personalities can be affected by certain events. It also shows that people
seem to become a much better person when operating on their superego, not their id. It is much better
to be thoughtful and rational than

The Biochemistry of Running

Abstract
In common metabolic biochemistry human burns fuel (food) and generate energy. This energy is
responsible off doing all types of processes of her body. Human body work in a very complex way
when there is a demand on working muscles. During running so many changes are noticeable in
human body. Those changes are faster heartbeat, sweating, hurting of muscles and very fast and deep
breathing. These things consider normal doing marathon run. In order for runners to run marathon
they have to train their body with hours of training. These trainings prepare their different body areas

Glucose for pyruvate is generated by glycogenolysis, which is a process breaking down glycogen to
glucose. Glycogen is stored sugar in our muscles. Due to the buildup lactate muscles get tired and the
anaerobic glycolysis last only for couple of minutes.
From there on another pathway become available. As mentioned above during running, our heart beat
get faster and we breathe hard this result more oxygen to our muscles by bloodstream. After our
muscle cells get enough oxygen the aerobic pathway get activated. In the presence of oxygen ATP can
be a generated again by citric acid cycle and oxidative Phosphorylation. During the long race, runners
should not go over speed. Keeping a consistent speed just under anaerobic threshold can avoid
muscles fatigue. According to Blann, the anaerobic threshold is defined as the level of exercise
intensity at which lactic acid builds up in the body faster than it can be cleared away. For this reason,
it is also sometimes called the lactate threshold .
During long race burning the fatty acid from fat is very effective ( ). When human body burn one gram
of fat, it generate more than double calories then compare to burning of one gram of carbohydrates.
Marathon runners can use store fat and run for several days. Even though burning fat look good source
of energy, it cannot reach

The Wonder Woman Feminism
During my junior year, my parents had allowed my uncle to live with us. At one point I got tired of
hearing some of the things he was saying so I got up to walk away. Immediately he got up and charged
after me shouting. I locked myself in my room and listened as he screamed to my parents that I was a
stuck up bitch who needed to learn some goddamn respect . I shouldn t be called a bitch for having my
own opinions and deciding to walk away from a situation. This idea that men are superior to women,
and women need to be submissive to them has been ingrained into our society. With the recent release
of Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins, many people have called into question how well
Wonder Woman otherwise known as Diana in the movie relates to feminism, and represents a positive
image or an inspirational figure for women and young girls in today s society. One of these people is
Zoe Heller, who in turn wrote the article God s Gift to Men . While I don t believe this was meant to
be the typical inspiring feminist movie that tells women to act like ball busters . I believe that Heller
over analyzed this movie, and tried to make it into her idea of what feminism is: where women preach
about how they should be treated and how others should view themselves. Heller started off by
providing a quote from the New York Times where it stated that they would be ending a campaign to
make Wonder Woman into an inspirational figure. She then addresses Diana s costume, which the

The Exodus Of The Old Testament
Exodus is the earliest text in the Old Testament that creates a new identity and sense of community to
a group of people who had nothing. According to the Exodus there were a group of slaves who fled
Egypt and where led by a prophet named Moses, who also is the proclaimed author of the book. These
people where on a mission to find the promise land where they can be free from oppression and create
their own civilization. These claims are true are still debated to this day, but the text was written
around the 1400 B.C. Moses intentions for Exodus were to set laws for his new community to a group
of people who had only knew lives as slaves. In chapter 21 of Exodus there are a set of laws for the
new community that pander to push away their old lives to create a new identity in which men can be
equal with one another. The second verse within chapter 21 states, if thou buy an Hebrew servant, six
years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing ( Exodus , 21, 2). Immediately
the author set a law that if there are slaves then they must be released within six years, which creates
hope for potential slaves. Before Moses led the his followers out of Egypt there was no prospect of
any of them being set free from their lives as slaves. This law helps create a new community that will
release their male slaves. During this era men were dominant while women are treated as property and
evidence can be found in Exodus of this inequality. If his master have given

Evaluating Complex Interventions
Evaluating complex interventions is a considerable challenge, especially when dealing with programs
anchored in an ecological approach to health behavior change (Deschesnes, Martin, Hill, 2003). In
fact, very little is known about how best to implement a comprehensive and complex approach to
physical activity policy (Ogilvie et al., 2010; Sallis, Story, Lou, 2009). Therefore, a process evaluation
using program theory was conducted to gain a better understanding of the factors that could influence
the successful implementation of a state plan physical activity plan. However, the implementation of
the Nebraska Physical Activity and Nutrition State Plan (NPANSP) failed to fully implement and
reach the target audience. While funding and politics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study does have several limitations. The response rate to the interviews was low, bringing into
question the representativeness of the sample, however, respondents who did participate were directly
involved in both the planning and implementation phases. These participants were best able to account
for the barriers and facilitators at the DHHS organizational level and Partners N Health network.
While they may have represented practitioners with a higher level of interest in implementation, there
is a lack in the diversity of knowledge informing the program model and barriers and facilitators from
those working in the community. The interviews emphasized the Nebraska context but can be used to
inform future developments within the physical activity policy and implementation research, as well

The Divine Comedy By Virgil And Dante
Relationships come in many forms with varying troubles and blessings. In the book, The Divine
Comedy, two of the main characters, Virgil and Dante, can have a seemingly simple relationship, but
when closely examined and reflected on, it is actually quite complex. They venture through the depths
of hell, the complications of a long journey, and the perplexing reality of purgatory. Throughout their
relationship they are faced with different gains and trials that they react to in various ways. Their
circumstances are always changing and the course is rough, but throughout the entirety of their
venture together, there remains one constant element, and that is the love they share in their
relationship. It is outwardly expressed through their actions and words throughout the entirety of the
book.
The question I came across in reading The Divine Comedy is:
Why does Dante use different terms to address Virgil? What do they mean or what is their
significance? How does the development of their relationship affect the story as a whole?
The most common name used by Dante is My guide , which is the most logical name he would use to
call Virgil. This is because Virgil is leading Dante through all these different journeys, taking every
step right by his side. Virgil has an understanding of Dante s uncertainty, and takes him under his
wing. He was chosen for Dante to guide him and that is why Dante uses the possessive my to refer to
him because Virgil was specifically provided

Edwin Arlington Robinson’s The Mill Essay
Edwin Arlington Robinson s The Mill
Lucius Beebe critically analyzes Edwin Arlington Robinson s, The Mill best. Beebe s analysis is from
an objective point of view. He points out to the reader that what seems so obvious may not be. She
notes The Mill is just a sad little tale of double suicide brought on by the encroachment of the modern
world and by personal loss. Thus meaning The Mill carries a deeper underlying theme. Lucius Beebe
expresses that a minor overflow of significant details has been exposed over Edwin Arlington
Robinson s The Mill, much of it concerned with whether the miller s wife did indeed drown herself
after the miller had hanged himself. Another, even more provocative question has never been asked:
did the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The colon after said implies an appositive clause equal in value to what went before, here the thoughts
of the miller s wife as she waited by the dead fire. There are no millers anymore, / Was all that she had
heard him say closes the parenthesis of past perfect tense that the first line opens, containing within it
the miller s actual words, which Beebe and the reader can take to be the objective fulcrum upon which
the rest of this intensely subjective poem balances.
It is even clearer that the past perfect is this stanza s essential condition of being when we come to the
second past perfect verb, had lingered, found in a clause subordinate to the one before. Thus, Lucius
Beebe points out that Robinson sets up the stanza as a sort of verbal chandelier, with one clause
hanging upon the meaning and mode of that before, and with the framework of past perfect verbs
giving definition and tone to the whole. Robinson achieves much the same effect in the second stanza,
which opens with the miller s wife sick with a fear that had no form, which implies that the fear has a
continuation in the past. Beebe implies that a certain poetic inertia militates against supposing change,
and much more is needed to indicate or certify such change than exists. This hypothesis is reinforced
by the rest of the stanza, a single sentence formed by a pair of past conditional clauses. What he had
meant, as direct object, parallels What else

Extraction of Metals
Extraction of metals
The History of Metals.
Metals have been used by people for many thousands of years. Gold and silver, found as native metal,
were used both as jewellery and as a status symbol nothing new there. These metals were known in
the Stone Age, but gold and silver are too soft to be used as tools.
The first really useful metal to be discovered was bronze. This began the Bronze Age. Bronze was
used extensively for tools and weapons in Asia and Africa from 4,500 B.C. (6,500 years ago) and in
Britain from 2,000 B.C. (4,000 years ago). News of the new material travelled slowly in those days
and it took the Brits 2,500 years to get the message.

The same can be said of metal extraction. Metal extraction can drastically affect the quality of air in
the surrounding areas, what with the high levels of dust and gas in the area. There s also the noise
pollution that it creates, which is affecting the natural habitat of animals. Last, metal extraction
disfigures the landscape.
Now, if companies continually extract metal, the land will forever be disfigured, causing flooding and
soil erosion in the area. It will also cause large scale natural habitat destruction, causing so many
species to be uprooted. There s also the air and water pollution to consider.
Economic Impact of Metal Extraction
It is a fact that mining, extracting, refining, and purifying metal will cost a lot of money. There are
different types of metal, and they need different methods of extraction. Now, the methods of extracting
metal do not come cheap, nor does refining and purifying metal. Not only will you need special
equipment for their extraction, but you will also need other elements as well such as copper, zinc,
mercury, among others, for the purification and refinement processes. Some of these elements are very
harmful and toxic not only to humans and animals but to nature as well, worsening the environmental
impact of metal extraction.
Aside from this, you also have to think of the transportation costs of extracted metal.

The Dynamic Role In Music During The Romantic Period

The dynamic role of Women in Music during the Romantic Period.
Usually when people judge romance they assume of dating, but the Romantic Period was not about
dating, it was a time of great emotion, creativity, imagination, adventure, and was a time of political
revolution. Romanticism originated in Western Europe in the second half of the 18th century, and
gained much strength during the Industrial Revolution. This era was a time of great change, and unlike
the Classical era, the Romantic era allowed artistic creativity, freedom, and experimentation. The
Romantic Period brought a flood of women who began writing and expressing themselves through
literary works. Women increased recognition during the romantic era. They devolved into music
teachers, composers, singers and performers. Although they were still in the opposition of music
professions, the women in this era opened the doors for opportunities in the future. A few dominant
impacts were Pauline Viardot, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, and Clara Schumann. They even had some
of their works published. (Young: 235 237)
Women have been active participants in the musical world since antiquity, but discussions of their
efforts have traditionally been neglected in favor of those of male musicians. Beginning in the
romantic era, encouraged by the flourishing feminist movement, scholars began to investigate the
musical activities of female musicians in

Celtic Cross Research Paper
Celtic Cross
A cross having essentially the form of a Latin cross with a ring about the intersection of the crossbar
and upright and shaft (CITE HERE). From the outside looking in, that is what a Celtic cross would
appear to be, but the cross has a deeper meaning than just it s looks. The origin of the Celtic cross was
unknown but the Irish believe it was founded by Saint Patrick because he was trying to convert the
citizens of Ireland to Christianity. There were multiple theories behind the origin, however, the most
recognized theory was that St. Patrick merged the sun cross and a regular cross to give new supporters
a way to keep their old religion and make the transition to Christianity easier. The importance of the
sun cross was that it held life giving properties from the sun. Before Christianity, the people in Ireland
believed in many different gods and St. Patrick wanted them to worship one God. By combining these
two crosses, St. Patrick was able to get the Pagan people to become followers of Christianity. The

Essay On The Underground Railroad In North Carolina
The Underground Railroad in North Carolina
The Underground Railroad was perhaps the most active and dramatic protest action against slavery in
United States history and as we look at the Underground Railroad in North Carolina we will focus on
the Quakers, Levi Coffin s early years, and the accounts of escaped slaves from North Carolina. The
unique blend of southern slave holder and northern abolitionist influences in the formation of North
Carolina served to make the state an important link in the efforts to end slavery inside and outside of
North Carolina borders.
Although not underground nor a railroad, this informal system became a loosely constructed network
of escape routes that originated in the South, intertwined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Levi Coffin was born on October 28, 1798 on a farm in New Garden, North Carolina, the only son of
seven children born to Quaker parents, Levi and Prudence (Williams) Coffin.
Because his father needed him to work on the farm, young Levi received the bulk of his education at
home. His home schooling proved to be a good education. As a young boy growing up in North
Carolina in the early 1800 s, Levi saw firsthand the reality of slavery. One day while he was out with
his father helping to chop wood by the roadside, a group of slaves, handcuffed and chained together,
passed by on their way to be sold in Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana. When Levi s father asked them
why they were chained, one of the men sadly replied: They have taken us away from our wives and
children, and they chain us lest we should make our escape and go back to them. 1 After the group of
slaves had gone, young Levi wondered to himself how he would feel if his father were taken away
from him.
The incident by the side of a Guilford County road marked the first stirring of Levi Coffin s sympathy
for the oppressed. Together with a strong hatred of oppression and injustice in any form, Coffin later
said these were the motives that influenced my

Clinical Decision Support System Analysis
A computer program that several doctors and hospitals are now using to manage patient care is a
clinical decision support system (CDSS). These programs theoretically will compile the patient s
medical history, access the long term treatments, and help in the diagnosis process with the
information accumulated from multiple areas within the program. The four main functions of the
program are administrative, managing clinical complexity and details, cost control and decision
support. The systems have been created for time management, to retain more precise records and to
assist in the diagnosis process for physicians. This allows for consistent and standardized care.
Multiple inquiries and apprehensions arise with the use of a CDSS program. The computer program
can only amass the information that is entered into the system. It is imperative that the managing,

those decisions? If a physician assistant sees a patient and the program gives a diagnosis, is the patient
truly getting the proper care, what about the accuracy of the invoice? Will this allow a less qualified
individual to make decisions in regard to the patients health care that may not be within the scope of
the job? Will there become a point that doctors rely too much on the CDSS? In my opinion, the
greatest fear would be a data breach with the amount of personal and medical health information
collected at businesses using a CDSS program. The most advanced and stringent security measures
would be imperative. Although having interoperability among the numerous different CDSS programs

  • 2. The Music Of A Christmas Carol about it (Gaskell 18). James, who is another servant, tells Hester that she has mistaken the wind soughing among the trees for music (Gaskell 17). Hester must force Agnes, by way of rank, to reveal that it is believed that the dead old lord , plays the organ (Gaskell 18). Miss Furnivall is first connected with the music, when Hester claims that she thought it was her playing the organ (Gaskell 18). Being that Miss Furnivall is deaf, and is therefore an unlikely musician, this insinuates that Miss Furnivall is connected to this problem. However similar to A Christmas Carol , the music is suggested to be derived from ghostly means, because the organ is found to be broken inside, therefore unable to be played normally (Gaskell 18). This thought is later underlined when the child, Rosamond, goes missing, and ghosts threaten the household, further emphasizing that a problem exists (Gaskell 20,24). Music is suggested many ways to cause her problems between Miss Furnivall and her sister, Miss Maude, rather than aid the sisters in a solution. Both sisters fell in love with the same man, a foreign musician, whom their father had down from London to play music (Gaskell 26). The sisters develop a rivalry over the foreigner (Gaskell 27). The foreigner is never given a name because it is suggested that he is not consequential as a person, but rather as a problem between the sisters. As he is of lower rank and not British, he is developed to play on Victorian fears, and social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Consequences Of Revenge In Rita Hayworth And The... A child hits someone; they hit them back. An individual deceives someone; they seek retaliation. While growing up as individuals in society, the phrase Two wrongs do not make a right is well known. The phrase is a lesson. It means because someone does something wrong towards another individual it is not justified to do something retaliate. As human beings, the motive behind retaliation is revenge, which is the reaction behind every negative outcome towards another person. In life, behind every action that is made, a consequence follows. People in society must take the negativity that is thrown towards them, and turn it into positivity. The novel Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption shows many instances why two wrongs do not make a right. For instance, all heinous crimes in the novel are committed for the sake of retaliation. In general, every action that is made can often be justified; however, a positive outcome is not always guaranteed. Growing up, people hear [G]et over it and move on or let bygones be bygones . . . (Ford 285). Sometimes in life, Turning the other cheek is another way of avoiding problems so they will not cause a conflict with another individual. Negative conflicts would cause two wrongs to be made that could result in a hurtful outcome. For example, when a person does wrong the negative effect will follow. Although some may disagree, others may think that two wrongs do make a right: An act, which otherwise would be wrong, can be right when performed in the presence of, or in response to another act committed by an individual towards another. . . It may even be the case that two acts, each of which would be wrong in isolation, are both rendered permissible by the presence of the other. (Kavka 61) Each person is in control of their actions in life. Although conscience may make each individuals actions seem honorable, the truth is they might be. In the novel, Red felt what he was doing as a husband was not enough for his father in law. Although he did everything that was asked of him in order to be that best husband, it was not good enough. • 4. Exploring The Roots Of The Recurring Subjects And Symbols... After nearly two centuries completely lacking in images, early Christians finally developed a pictorial language to express their faith. The conventions developed early on would come to define the middle ages, an entire era of almost exclusively Christian images. Early Christians adopted classical conventions for their art, which would serve an opposing purpose for outsiders and initiates. For outsiders, the symbols meant no harm. But to followers of the faith, the images are loaded with meaning. The meaning inherent in the history of the symbol, when combined with a biblical context, creates a full and multi faceted iconographic tradition. The purpose of this paper is to explore the roots of the recurring subjects and symbols evident in the funerary paintings in Catacombs of Domitilla in Rome. Funerary paintings and sculpture provide the most thorough evidence of early Christian art. An exceptional visual tradition has been preserved in the vast network of underground burial systems: the Roman catacombs. One of the most extensive of these is the Catacomb of Domitilla. Beginning in the third century CE, the Catacombs of Domitilla housed thousands of bodies from families rich and poor, and extended for over seventeen kilometers in four distinct subterranean levels. In terms of style, most of the works are indistinguishable from Roman paintings. If anything, the art style is a more rushed and cramped version of illusionistic Roman wall painting. The use of iconography is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Antarctic Krill s Decline Study conducted by British Antarctic Survey in 2004 emphasized that Antarctic krill numbers are declining. Krill are very significant to the Antarctic food web and this decline could threaten whales, seals and penguins all of which rely on krill. The decline of krill has been associated to a intense decline in sea ice, their habita. Sea ice is a vigorous feeding ground for the enormous number of krill in the Southern Ocean. The research shows that krill decreased by about 80% since the 1970s. Krill feed on the algae which are found under the surface of the sea ice. The Antarctic Peninsula, an important breeding ground for the krill, has experienced an unusual shrinkage of sea ice. It has been intensely advocated that enhanced UV B radiation ... • 6. Iago Deception In Othello In Shakespeare s Othello, a secondary character, Iago, is continuously able to twist the thoughts of other characters. Iago s ability to convince others of false information and lead people into misconceptions reminds me of a harsh memory from my past. While I enjoyed my young teenage years, there is always a time that eats away at my mind. If Othello and the others that Iago so easily deceived had lived they would also look back with regret in a similar way that I do. Deception drove Iago s personality and actions; deception was also a main reason I lost a friend that I entrusted in and counted on daily. Iago is the gateway to deception in Othello. It is through Iago that readers are able to see how deception can essentially ruin a relationship or those that are being deceived. One of first examples seen of Iago s deception is seen in Act 1 Scene 3. While Iago is giving is first soliloquy he explains his plotting to ruin Othello and Desdemona s marriage. Specifically, Iago says After some time, to abuse Othello s ear that he is too familiar with his wife... The Moor is of a free and open nature that thinks men honest that bet seem to be so. Here Iago says he plans on convincing Othello that Cassio is becoming too intimate with Desdemona. He believes that this will work because Cassio is a smooth and easy talker and also a good looking guy. Iago continues to say that Othello is easily convinced because he thinks any man who seems honest must be honest. Later in the play Iago successfully convinces Othello that Desdemona is fornicating with Cassio and no longer loves him. In Act 4 Scene 1 Iago and Othello discuss Cassio and Desdemona, Iago argues that he believes that the two are becoming very flirtatious. Othello does not want to believe this about Desdemona. For Iago to prove to Othello that Cassio has been with Desdemona, he orders Othello to hide and watch Cassio s face throughout the conversation. Iago also tells Othello look out for Cassio laughing as that is a sign that he is admitting to being Desdemona. All of this is Iago s maneuvers of deception, by acting as the good guy to Othello he makes Othello trust in him more and leads to easier deception on Iago s part. After Othello heads off to hide ... • 7. Essay on Rewriting History in Henry IV Rewriting History in Henry IV The master of historiography is, perhaps, Shakespeare as evidenced by his History Plays. Whereas most writers merely borrow from history to fuel their creative fires, Shakespeare goes so far as to rewrite history. The First Part of Henry the Fourth follows history fairly closely, and Shakespeare draws this history primarily from Raphael Holinshed s Chronicle of England, Scotland, and Ireland and from Samuel Daniel s verse epic The Civil Wars (Abrams 823). The play opens shortly after Henry Bolingbroke has usurped the throne from Richard II, becoming the fourth King Henry, and changing the royal lineage from the House of Plantagenet to the House of Lancaster. In the opening ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the most part, Shakespeare did indeed fabricate Falstaff, Poins, and the whole Tavern Group, yet historical evidence does support some sort of provincial getaway. McFarlane records that in 1412 the younger Henry remained dissatisfied [with his father] and shortly afterwards withdrew once more into the provinces, where he was soon again at his old tricks (110). Shakespeare originally named the character of Falstaff after the Protestant martyr John Oldcastle. Shakespeare eventually bowed to the objections of Oldcastle s descendants, renaming the character (Abrams 823). At the Battle of Shrewsbury, Shakespeare describes how Hal kills Hotspur, eulogizes him (5.4.78 102), and then concedes the victory of the kill to Falstaff (5.4.138 50). History records that Hal himself suffered an arrow shot to the face (Rowse 44) and that no one knows for certain who killed Hotspur (Jacob 52 3). History further records that, as for the eulogy, it was the king who shed tears over Hotspur s slain figure, not the young prince (Rowse 45). Despite Hotspur being three years older than Hal s father (Hotspur died at age thirty nine) (Rowse 44), Shakespeare paints the portrait of Hotspur and Hal as contemporaries, following poet Daniel s lead (Drabble 475). Rowse does note, however, that Shakespeare did capture the essence in Hotspur of something not grown up about this fighting man, who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When evaluating performance against the requirements of your work role it is important to review your job description regularly, by doing this you can identify areas in which you are and are not performing. Appraisal with a line manager is a key way to monitor and evaluate performance as employees are expected to review their job descriptions and identify where they believe they are performing well and to identify ways in which they can improve their performance. • 9. Natural Rate Of Unemployment Essay Natural rate of unemployment The natural rate of unemployment (sometimes called the structural unemployment rate) is a concept of economic activity developed in particular by Milton Friedman and Edmund Phelps in the 1960s, both recipients of the Nobel prize in economics. In both cases, the development of the concept is cited as a main motivation behind the prize.[1][2] It represents the hypothetical unemployment rate consistent with aggregate production being at the long run level. This level is consistent with aggregate production in the absence of various temporary frictions such as incomplete price adjustment in labor and goods markets. The natural rate of unemployment therefore corresponds to the unemployment rate prevailing under a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course, the prices a company charges are closely connected to the wages it pays. Figure 1 shows a typical Phillips curve fitted to data for the United States from 1961 to 1969. The close fit between the estimated curve and the data encouraged many economists, following the lead of Paul Samuelson and Robert Solow, to treat the Phillips curve as a sort of menu of policy options. For example, with an unemployment rate of 6 percent, the government might stimulate the economy to lower unemployment to 5 percent. Figure 1 indicates that the cost, in terms of higher inflation, would be a little more than half a percentage point. But if the government initially faced lower rates of unemployment, the costs would be considerably higher: a reduction in unemployment from 5 to 4 percent would imply more than twice as big an increase in the rate of inflation about one and a quarter percentage points. At the height of the Phillips curve s popularity as a guide to policy, Edmund Phelps and Milton Friedman independently challenged its theoretical underpinnings. They argued that well informed, rational employers and workers would pay attention only to real wages the inflation adjusted purchasing power of money wages. In their view, real wages would adjust to make the supply of labor equal to the demand for labor, and the unemployment rate would then stand at a level uniquely associated with that real wage the natural rate of unemployment. Stresemann used the money lent by the USA by reinvesting that money to build new factories, which meant that more Germans had jobs and that meant that Germans could be able to provide for their families. The people of Israel grew far from God and had to call among the Judges and Prophets to redeem their people. Hebrews tells us how the people that were called in to redeem the people of Israel were faulty and flawed. Gideon lacked the courage, Barack was a hesitant leader, Samson lusted after women, and Ehud was left handed; these are some of the major flaws the leaders of this age faced. Ed Hindson and Gary Yates explained, Because a judge could only partially and imperfectly administer Torah (legislative function), execute Justice (executive function), and condemn law breakers (judicial function), a king was needed who could more effectively fulfill all three roles. Brilliant Mathematicians from History Shape Math of Today Mathematicians not only play an important role in society today, but all the brilliant math minds from the past helped shape every mathematical theory we know, study, and learn today. Math is used every single day, in every continent, every country, every state, and every city. It is the way we solve everyday problems. It is the way we calculate the distance from sun to earth, the way we determine amount of miles one drives from their home to work, the way we estimate our grocery bill before approaching a register, the way we figure out the probability of failing or passing a test, it is the way we as humans approach, solve, and conclude problems we face day in, and day out. Giant Otter Essay Giant otter populations have suffered since the 1940s different anthropic pressures: hunting for skins (1940 1975), gold mining (mercury contamination), deforestation, human population growth and increased demand for fishery resource, for consumption and sale. The latter scenario, along with processes of loss of ancestral knowledge and cultural traditions of indigenous peoples and their entry into active participation in the market, have blunted the ancestral coexistence between Amazonian indigenous communities and populations of giant otter. It is a semi documentary based on the filmmaker, Marlon Rigg s, life. Tongues Untied only runs about an hour long, and completely devoid of plot, but still has a very powerful message. Much of Tongues Untied s message comes from the cinematography, close up on lips as a black pastor preaches about the sin of homosexuality , shots look like double vision or cross eyed while the narrator discusses being a double minority. The sound design also plays into the meaning very heavily, there is a small tapping noise that grows louder and louder until by the end of the film, you feel like you have a headache. ... The story structure of Tongues Untied is both interesting and unusual. He also identified three parts of the personality: the id, ego, and superego. Freud said that the id operates on pleasure principle , the ego operates on reality principle , and the superego operates on moral principle . A great showcase of the different parts of the personality can be found within the movie Regarding Henry. In this movie Henry Turner falls victim to an armed man in his local convenience store. After the accident Henry s personality, and life in general, undergoes a drastic change. In my opinion, Henry s natural state is his id. In this movie, Henry Turner appears to be largely controlled by his id. One of the first big examples of this is when he leaves the house late at night by himself to go purchase cigarettes. Henry goes out at a dangerous hour because he feels the need for a cigarette and this is what results in him being shot. Another example of him using his id is when he lashes out at his caretaker, Bradley. Henry loves Bradley but when Bradley tries to tell him that it s time to go back home Henry is overcome by emotions and lashes out. He screams at Bradley, which is very out of ... After the accident, his natural state is definitely his superego. This film helps to show how easily our personalities can be affected by certain events. At one point I got tired of hearing some of the things he was saying so I got up to walk away. Immediately he got up and charged after me shouting. I locked myself in my room and listened as he screamed to my parents that I was a stuck up bitch who needed to learn some goddamn respect . I shouldn t be called a bitch for having my own opinions and deciding to walk away from a situation. This idea that men are superior to women, and women need to be submissive to them has been ingrained into our society. With the recent release of Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins, many people have called into question how well Wonder Woman otherwise known as Diana in the movie relates to feminism, and represents a positive image or an inspirational figure for women and young girls in today s society. One of these people is Zoe Heller, who in turn wrote the article God s Gift to Men . While I don t believe this was meant to be the typical inspiring feminist movie that tells women to act like ball busters . I believe that Heller over analyzed this movie, and tried to make it into her idea of what feminism is: where women preach about how they should be treated and how others should view themselves. Heller started off by providing a quote from the New York Times where it stated that they would be ending a campaign to make Wonder Woman into an inspirational figure. • 24. The Exodus Of The Old Testament Exodus is the earliest text in the Old Testament that creates a new identity and sense of community to a group of people who had nothing. According to the Exodus there were a group of slaves who fled Egypt and where led by a prophet named Moses, who also is the proclaimed author of the book. These people where on a mission to find the promise land where they can be free from oppression and create their own civilization. These claims are true are still debated to this day, but the text was written around the 1400 B.C. Moses intentions for Exodus were to set laws for his new community to a group of people who had only knew lives as slaves. In chapter 21 of Exodus there are a set of laws for the new community that pander to push away their old lives to create a new identity in which men can be equal with one another. The second verse within chapter 21 states, if thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing ( Exodus , 21, 2). Immediately the author set a law that if there are slaves then they must be released within six years, which creates hope for potential slaves. Before Moses led the his followers out of Egypt there was no prospect of any of them being set free from their lives as slaves. This law helps create a new community that will release their male slaves. In the book, The Divine Comedy, two of the main characters, Virgil and Dante, can have a seemingly simple relationship, but when closely examined and reflected on, it is actually quite complex. They venture through the depths of hell, the complications of a long journey, and the perplexing reality of purgatory. Throughout their relationship they are faced with different gains and trials that they react to in various ways. Their circumstances are always changing and the course is rough, but throughout the entirety of their venture together, there remains one constant element, and that is the love they share in their relationship. It is outwardly expressed through their actions and words throughout the entirety of the book. The question I came across in reading The Divine Comedy is: Why does Dante use different terms to address Virgil? What do they mean or what is their significance? How does the development of their relationship affect the story as a whole? The most common name used by Dante is My guide , which is the most logical name he would use to call Virgil. This is because Virgil is leading Dante through all these different journeys, taking every step right by his side. Virgil has an understanding of Dante s uncertainty, and takes him under his wing. He was chosen for Dante to guide him and that is why Dante uses the possessive my to refer to him because Virgil was specifically provided ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Beebe s analysis is from an objective point of view. He points out to the reader that what seems so obvious may not be. She notes The Mill is just a sad little tale of double suicide brought on by the encroachment of the modern world and by personal loss. Thus meaning The Mill carries a deeper underlying theme. There are no millers anymore, / Was all that she had heard him say closes the parenthesis of past perfect tense that the first line opens, containing within it the miller s actual words, which Beebe and the reader can take to be the objective fulcrum upon which the rest of this intensely subjective poem balances. It is even clearer that the past perfect is this stanza s essential condition of being when we come to the second past perfect verb, had lingered, found in a clause subordinate to the one before. Thus, Lucius Beebe points out that Robinson sets up the stanza as a sort of verbal chandelier, with one clause hanging upon the meaning and mode of that before, and with the framework of past perfect verbs giving definition and tone to the whole. Robinson achieves much the same effect in the second stanza, which opens with the miller s wife sick with a fear that had no form, which implies that the fear has a continuation in the past. Beebe implies that a certain poetic inertia militates against supposing change, and much more is needed to indicate or certify such change than exists. This hypothesis is reinforced by the rest of the stanza, a single sentence formed by a pair of past conditional clauses. What he had meant, as direct object, parallels What else ... These metals were known in the Stone Age, but gold and silver are too soft to be used as tools. The first really useful metal to be discovered was bronze. This began the Bronze Age. Bronze was used extensively for tools and weapons in Asia and Africa from 4,500 B.C. (6,500 years ago) and in Britain from 2,000 B.C. (4,000 years ago). Usually when people judge romance they assume of dating, but the Romantic Period was not about dating, it was a time of great emotion, creativity, imagination, adventure, and was a time of political revolution. Romanticism originated in Western Europe in the second half of the 18th century, and gained much strength during the Industrial Revolution. This era was a time of great change, and unlike the Classical era, the Romantic era allowed artistic creativity, freedom, and experimentation. The Romantic Period brought a flood of women who began writing and expressing themselves through literary works. Women increased recognition during the romantic era. They devolved into music teachers, composers, singers and performers. Although they were still in the opposition of music professions, the women in this era opened the doors for opportunities in the future. From the outside looking in, that is what a Celtic cross would appear to be, but the cross has a deeper meaning than just it s looks. The origin of the Celtic cross was unknown but the Irish believe it was founded by Saint Patrick because he was trying to convert the citizens of Ireland to Christianity. There were multiple theories behind the origin, however, the most recognized theory was that St. Patrick merged the sun cross and a regular cross to give new supporters a way to keep their old religion and make the transition to Christianity easier. The importance of the sun cross was that it held life giving properties from the sun.
