Symbols In The Poisonwood Bible
There are various depictions of opposite ideas in Barbra Kingsolver s The Poisonwood Bible .
Symbols of good and evil, lights and darks, sick and healthy, and social and natural balances are
reoccurring images throughout Kingsolver s work. Among these images is the one shown of
Nathan Price and his counterpart Brother Fowles. Nathan Price is a typical hardcore southern
Baptist from South Carolina. Without even asking for his family s opinion, Nathan decides that he
wants to go to the Congo to be a missionary; thus plunging them blindly into Hell. Nathan continues
firm with his plans wielding the motive to redeem his guilt from his WWII days. Unfortunately for
the Price family and the Congolese, Nathans arrogance and selfish behavior doesn t... Show more

His stubborn nature gives him the idea that the Congolese people are naked, uneducated
savages. He has no ear for what his family says, or what their opinions are, and has a very cram
the word of God down your throat way of preaching. Nathan is completely ignorant to the
Congolese way of life, and language, that he doesn t realize that he calls Jesus poisonwood in a
mispronunciation of the Congolese word for precious. Nathan wanted to baptize the people of
the Congo to redeem his guilt in the eyes God. Nathan felt that he was doing God a favor by
taking his family to the Congo and trying to convert as many people as possible. Furthermore;
Nathan Price walks into the Congo with a Western attitude completely failing to adapt to the
Congolese culture and ideas (even failing to realize that the people were afraid of the river
because of crocodiles) making them less accepting of him and his teachings. Brother Fowles acts
as Nathan s foil and depicts the other side of the Christian religion, and how a missionary can be
successful. Brother Fowles is married to a Congolese woman and explains how the men and women
of the Congo are actually very religious and not just the tickets to heaven that Nathan sees them as.
Brother Fowles has pantheistic ideas which automatically make the Congolese more accepting of
the religion that he is preaching to

Circumventing Three Characters In Othello By William...
The Book Othello indited by william Shakespeare verbalizes about a story circumventing three
characters with different personalities which are Othello, Iago, and Desdemona. Othello controls
the Venetian army and is considered as a man with potent. He espoused to Desdemona who is the
senator Brabantio s daughter. Iagois a former veteran from Venice is considered very astute and
furtive and represented as a malignant character throughout the play. Iago s wife is just as
malignant as Iago and her designation is Emilia. The story commences even afore the play start

Morgan Motor Company
Morgan Motor Company (MMC) began as a family company and has remained that way over the
years. Decisions were largely driven by steady demand for their luxury product. Traditionally,
decision making was premised on production quotas that kept supply slightly behind demand. While
the company made a profit, it was not enough to sustain the company in the long term due
increasing costs caused by inefficient methods of production. The key area for improvement was
strategic planning based on detailed and accurate information. The implementation of the strategic
plan would require a review of human resource managementpractices in order for MMC to develop
into an organisation that valued continuous innovation.
MMC could gain valuable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first instance, focus should be on developing managers to help facilitate organisational
change (Waldersee, 1997) and enable them to be effective role models within the company.
Training solutions and interventions should target general areas such as effective teamwork and
communication, motivating workers and encouraging innovation. Additionally, where there are
identified skills gaps, it should also target content specific areas e.g. contemporary sales and
marketing practices would make up for the sales director s lack of recent sales experience. Once
again, Charles was led by example by enrolling in an MBA, thus demonstrating his commitment to
ongoing education and development.
Although collectivism has traditionally been associated with eastern cultures (Härtel, Fujimoto,
Straybosch, Fitzpatrick, 2007), motor companies like Ford and Toyota moved away from
Taylorism and demonstrated the value of teamwork in vehicle manufacturing (Winfield Kerrin,
1996). However, MMC s reward system of individual production bonuses did not acknowledge the
value of teamwork. Moreover, an unspecified dollar amount that was eroded by inefficiencies in the
production process did not provide an incentive to improve production. Not only should these
individual production bonuses be quantified, the company should also consider a reward system for
foremen to acknowledge their efforts in encouraging individuals and teams to achieve higher
production.

The Types Of Bone Tissue
Bone tissue is a connective tissue with an abundant matrix of intercellular substances that encloses
widely separated cells. The bone matrix is made up of an inorganic component known as mineral
salts that hardens the bone, and an inorganic component collagen fibres and an amorphous mixture
called ground substance, which gives the boneits strength (Tortora, Grabowski 2001). There are
three types of cells that can be found in the bone, they are osteoblasts, osteoclasts and osteocytes.
Osteoblasts are the cells that synthesizes a specialized organic material called osteoid which is
important in the build up of mineralized bone, osteoclasts are relatively larger multi nucleate cells
made up of mitochondria and lysosomes that are responsible for the continuous erosion of bones.
Lastly the last cells found in the bone are osteocytes, these are adult osteoblast cells found in the
lacunae that have been surrounded by mineralized matrix. (Thibodeau, Patton 2003).Osteocytes are
responsible for maintaining metabolism within the bone such as the exchange of nutrients with the
blood.
There are four types of bones short bones, long bones, flat bones and irregular bones, which have
different characteristics so at to be able to function effectively. Long bones are greater in length
than width and is made up of varying numbers of ends and a shaft, an example is the humerus
which is located in the arm. Short (sesamond) bones are almost as broad as they are long, such
bones can be found

Unwind Essay
Unwind Essay
By Asha Patel
Theme: How a leader can influence others?
Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to
do it. Dwight D. Eisenhower. In a place, where Unwinding is permitted for saving lives and
possible, people must take a stand against this rebellion. The novel, Unwind by Neal Shusterman s,
showed commitment and leadership roles throughout the novel. This type of leadership and
commitment came from Connor, Roland, and the Admiral. They showed leadership roles in their
own different ways throughout the book. This novel says that a leader can influence others by
motivation and inspiration, persuasion, and strongly believing in a vision.
The author, Neal Shusterman, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best leadership moment was in part seven, when Risa and Connor return to the Graveyard to
run it. The Admiral is too weak, having refused to take a new heart from an Unwind, and Connor
stepped in. Connor delivers a powerful speech that sets course for becoming the best leader in this
novel. Overall, Connor influenced others in a positive way and can be described as a great
positive leader in this book, Unwind.
A leader can also influence others in a negative way by using the technique, persuasion. This
leader who influenced others in a negative way was Roland. Shusterman gave Roland to have
great persuasion; and, Roland persuaded anyone who was in his way to step aside as he
persevered to become the biggest and greatest leader of all. For example he made up lies about
the Admiral saying that the Admiral used Unwinds just so he could get certain parts. He killed
Emby so he could have his hair. Also the Admiral s teeth and the scars on his face were from
unwinding. Roland is not a killer, but a fighter. He is said to be strong, brave and a good leader.
He s manipulative and uses people for his own personal gain. He is also intimidating and has a
tendency to lose his temper quickly. For example in part 2, Connor and Risa met Hayden, Mai, and
Roland all in the safe house. Roland was controlled everything, telling everyone what to do and
when to eat. Roland hated Connor from the minute he met him because he

Microsoft Sql Server 2016 Is Now Live
Microsoft SQL Server 2016 is now live. The new database software became available as of June
1, and it boasts incredible functionality at breakneck speed. Here is a summary of what service
providers need to know about SQL Server 2016, as well as what it means for SQL Server 2016
licensing requirements. Joseph Sirosh, Microsoft s Corporate Vice President, Data Group, said
SQL Server 2016 is the fastest and most price performant database for hybrid transactional and
analytical processing (HTAP). The integration of advanced analytics into a transactional database is
revolutionary. Today a majority of advanced analytic applications use a primitive approach of
moving data from databases into the application tier to derive intelligence. This... Show more

This allows users to query structured and unstructured data with the simplicity of T SQL, an
extension to SQL. New Stretch Database technology now targets hybrid cloud solutions to
reduce storage costs, simplify IT operations and improve overall availability. This ultimately
results in more historical data accessible by transparently and securely stretching warm and cold
OLTP data to Microsoft Azure on demand without application changes. Lastly, faster replicas
can be placed in Azure to provide cost effective disaster recovery and backups. For additional
information, read the SQL Server 2016 Release Notes and SQL Server 2016 datasheet. Biggest
Takeaway for Service Providers? Among the bevy of new features included in SQL Server
2016, the added security benefits are front and center. This is significant for service providers,
who by now are asked constantly by their end user clients how to achieve stronger data security
from malicious and everyday hackers. SQL Server 2016 includes a new feature called Always
Encrypted . This feature lets users encrypt data all the way from server to client, since it depends
on client side keys, which are distributed to clients. A new Always Encrypted enabled driver is
required, but the encryption is transparent to applications. This added level of security is
significant because of the costs now associated with data breaches. According to the Ponemon
Institute s 2015 Cost of Data Breach Study, the average cost of a data breach

A Taste Of Power By Elaine Brown
A Taste of Power was written by Elaine Brown who grew up in a poor neighborhood in
Philadelphia and sensed what it meant to be black people, female, and poor American. Elaine
Brown described her experiences as a woman in the inner circle of the Central Committee. In
contrast to the black men s narratives of their experiences, Elaine Brown points up defects of the
revolutionary vanguard. The Black Panther Partys buildings of a revolution were actually self
righteous; a revolution without the liberation of Black women from patriarchy would never lead to
equality for all. Brown acknowledged, like many other women in the Black Panther Party that
systems of racial and classist oppression were indeed intertwined with sexism. Though this lens...

Newton envisioned the Black Panther Party leading would never be realized. An important theme
in Elaine Brown s book is the pervasive gender inequality within the party. Many panther women
would agree with Brown on gender inequality, as it was pervasive in many if not all panther
chapters. In addition, she highlights what she thought were causes of the fall of the party, and the
changing platform, which she takes much credit for. Other panther members have addressed these
issues as well. There seems to be some disagreement on what ultimately caused the demise of such
an iconic force, and Brown attempts to piece together the many reasons. Brown had the large task
of combating sexism as well as handling Central Committee conflicts that caused division in the
party. She describes the way state sanctioned violence killed many beloved Panther members, the
inter Panther conflict that caused international tensions to rise and because of her intimate love
connection to Huey Newton also provides a candid view into his mindset. Brown dealt with these
conflicts, which at times seemed unresolvable and eventually left the Black Panther Party after
many years of faithful service. Prior to Brown s assignment as chairman, one could look at the
Central Committee of the Black Panther Party and safely assume that testosterone was a pre
requisite for revolution. Women in the Black

Name : Bhavana Pilla
1. How do you evaluate this approach to workforce reduction? What (if anything) did Abbott do
right and what did he do wrong? What additional information do you need about the downsizing
effort in order to fully understand the process?
I think that Abbott did right by finding alternatives to workforce layoffs. It was good thought by
giving early retirement to employees over the age 55. Others like cross training and sharing
reduced the work on one person and improved efficiency. What he did not focus was did not
strategically look for other alternatives besides getting rid of older employees by offering them
retirement. He should of retained older people whose experience ... Show more content on

Else could have reduced the salary for all the employees for few months and this could have
motivated the employees to work more to increase productivity and to save their jobs. So proper
procedures to downsize with fairness all around or other plans could have been ideal instead of
discriminating and ending up in a legal suit spending more money than saving any.
5. Is disparate impact theory applicable to downsizing decisions? If so, create some data that would
illustrate the use of this theory of discrimination.
In disparate impact theory, the plaintiff has to show that there was discrimination done by his
employer. He has to show that discrimination was involved in his dismissal and not on the basis
of his performance at work. The employer would be charged by the disparate impact theory if age,
sex or racial discrimination is proven.
6. If prima facie evidence of age discrimination is found, what burden (if any) would Brooks
Pharmaceuticals have?
Brooks Pharmaceuticals have to prove that discrimination against these employees was not
because of their age. The dismissal of theses employees was solely based on their performance.
Failure by the company to prove the fact, there would be legal problems for the organization.

Palm Oil Research Paper
In the year of 2017, palm oil has become ubiquitous to one s lifestyle. The time has come, where
the truth of the mysterious ingredient of palm oil must be spread. It has taken charge as the
leading cause of deforestation, yet leaves the common people uninformed. Palm oil is a type of
buttery oil, similarly alike to vegetable oil and coconut oil (Questions and Answers about Palm Oil).
It is derived from the fruit of oil palms, and it is in roughly half of all products sold in grocery
stores (Last Stand of the Orangutan). For instance it is contained in food like Nutella, and
cosmetics like shampoo (How Many Products with Palm Oil Do I Use in a Day). Palm oil is one
of the cheapest oils in the world, and it is being imported to almost all countries. There may not

Palm oil is used in anything from food to consumer products. It is even estimated that 10% of all
U.S goceries contain palm oil. The ingredient is used so often because it is considered the
cheapest cooking oil in the world (Questions and Answers about Palm Oil). It is in products as
diverse as Nutella, shampoo, cereals, toothpaste, ice cream, vitamins, detergent, and sometimes
even the fuel in cars. This basically signifies that palm oil is everywhere. Furthermore, there are
numerous brands that supply most of their products using palm oil as a major ingredient. For
instance the popular brands Kraft, Starbucks, General Mills, and Colgate are just a few of them
(Gertz). However, if one were to look under the ingredients list, palm oil could very easily be
disguised by a few different names. A couple of them are palm kernel, palmitic acid, sodium

Persuasive Essay On Attending High School
The next chapter in many people s lives is moving away from their hometown and attending college.
What people don t yet understand is the major differences between college and high school. Another
idea that is not thought of, are they prepared to handle the difficulties and challenges that go forth
in earning their desired degree? Attending collegeis only for people who are willing to take on this
challenge.
In high school, it is illegal to be truant and classroom attendance is required to graduate so, the
only responsibility that a student has is to arrive at school on time. Since attendance is required, it
is easy to get into a routine that stays constant over four years. All that is needed is to show up to
the first class of the day and all classes are set up for the rest of the day. In class, teachers usually
hand out assignments regularly and tell their students the due dates of each assignment. Some
teachers even go ahead and have any assignments that are due posted in their classroom to remind
students every day. The only responsibility that the high school student has is to look at the white
board and remind themselves that they might have an assignment to do that night at home. Once
they go home after a day at school, students will have the help of their parents or guardians to ask if
they have homework that night. Parents are an enormous help when it comes to high school.
Students have the responsibility from their parents to help them be reminded constantly of
upcoming events and due dates.
The work load that also comes from high school is, what most would call, minimal compared to
a college setting. Classes in high school are a year long term and each section of each course is
drawn out. For example, a class could take two weeks to complete one chapter. This allows
teachers to explain the material in detail and give out worksheets that contain small portions of
one chapter. Most of these worksheets can be completed in class allowing students to not have any
work outside of the class room. What this creates is a workload that is very simple to maintain and
allow students to worry less about working at home.
In most college classrooms, the instructor does not take attendance. Their mindset is that

The World Of The Eastern Hemisphere
Before the renowned expeditions of Christopher Columbus, or Ferdinand Magellan, the Polo family
were the original explorers whose triumphs and success stories inspired future travelers to discover
the unknown world of the Eastern hemisphere. During the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries,
Europe was in need of an intervention, something to bring life to the dull communities throughout
the continent. Marco Polobrought exactly this, and contributed so much more with his travels
across the world, bringing back religious morals, new spices, new languages, and new commercial
goods that were never heard of before. Although his intention might not have been as significant as
his impact, the obstacles he encountered and traversed through as written throughout his book,
sparked an interest and desire for international trade and traveling for Europeans to come. His
unique spark and impressive capabilities proved he was a tough man, especially with the voyages
he survived, the diseases he avoided, the country he governed, the bandit ambushes he fought, and
imprisonment he endured. Not only was he able to document his journey to various places, but he
was also able to spread his experience throughout Europe, thereby immortalizing his name.
Although Marco Polo was an exquisite explorer of his time and age, his wealthy merchant father
Niccolo and his uncle Matteo had originally introduced him to the world of the East with their

Organizations are not buildings or other physical structures; rather, organizations are the people
who work together to achieve a set of goals (Koh Kahn, 1966). These people come with variant
motivations, experiences and values and their individual differences tend to direct behavior in
numerous divergent directions. To direct behavior toward the accomplishment of a focused
mission, the organizations have to develop mechanism, which reduces behavior variability.
Organizational structure and organizational culture has been described as the mechanisms to
reduce behavior variability (Weber, 1946; Burns Stalker, 1961; Mintzberg, 1979; Schein, 1985;
Weick, 1987; Dension, 1990). However both of them have unique impact on individual behavioral
outcomes i.e. satisfaction, stress, motivation, alienation, and performance etc. It is needed to have a
deeper understanding of the functional roles of structural and cultural forces in the workplace so as
to understand the behavioral outcomes of the individual employees and to reduce the behavioral
variability for achieving organizational goals. For an organization to perform well in a competitive
environment there must be internal consistency among the four dimensions of

I m A Social ( Network ) Drinker
Your identity is something that reflects your background and culture, and shows who you are. It s
something that is always changing as you meet new people, move to new places, or simply could
just change out of the blue. In the article I m a Social (network) Drinker: Alcohol Related Facebook
Posts, Drinking Identity, and Alcohol Use, the authors looked at the associations between social
media and alcohol use and how they affect our identity. Because we are all human,we are all trying
to be accepted by society, which causes people to shape their identities to the certain situation.
Drinking identity is a concept that I was rather unfamiliar with until this article. It is defined in this
study as a component of identity that is associated with heavier drinking and more negative
alcohol related consequences (107). Drinking identity is basically how alcohol affects your way of
living. Everyone s drinking identities are different because it is based on how much we drink, what
we drink, how often, etc. Drinking identity is used in this study to determine if people with higher
drinking identities post more on social media, or are more open with their drinking, whereas people
with lower drinking identities would post less.
The authors started this study off by getting access to 109 undergraduate students, dominantly
female, who were all pulled from their psychology class and offered credit for doing this
experiment. The study page sent out friend requests to all participants

What Is The Mood Of The Poem Mending Wall
Why Walls?
In the poem Mending Wall the author Robert Frost uses poetic elements to express the idea that
barriers to communication, exchange of ideas and relationships should be questioned. By the use
of particular form, rhythm and tone, his choice of words, and use of imagery and symbols the
author uses a small poem to express a large idea.
The poem is written in blank verse, which is unrimed iambic pentameter. According to the authors
of Backpack Literature, X. J. Kennedy and Dana Gioia, Many writers, such as Robert Frost, feel
iambs most easily capture the natural rhythms of our speech. (503) This is a good choice for this

The wall in the poem is a stone wall between the fields belonging to two neighbors. In the spring
they work together to set the wall between us once again (14). The wall is a symbol for division,
separation and barriers to friendship, communication and relationships. The author s use of the
tactile image of we wear our fingers rough with handling them (20) shows how much effort is
involved in maintaining walls. Maintaining distance between other people also requires effort.
In the line He is all pine and I am apple orchard (24) the author uses the symbol of the two
different types of trees to represent the two neighbors, and the difference between staying fixed
behind a rigid wall and being willing to be open to new ideas, to allow the wall to come down.
The neighbor s pines are a hard wood with prickly pine cones and needle shaped leaves that are
unchanging as an evergreen. His ideas are also hard and unchanging. The speaker s trees are
deciduous apple trees that provide nourishing food, sweet smelling flowers and change with the
seasons like his openness to the idea of leaving the wall down. There is also a contrast between
the speaker s fanciful description of the something that doesn t love a wall (35) as elves (36) and
the image of the neighbor as an old stone savage

Importance Of My Favorite Vacation On A Trip With My Family
My favorite vacation was when I went on a road trip to New Jersey with my family. First, we
drove about eight hours to Wisconsin Dells, and we stayed there for one night. We stayed at the
Kalahari resort where there were many enjoyable activities. Some of them include laser tag,
water parks, rock wall climbing, mini golf, and so much more. Afterward, we drove about nine
hours to Cedar Point, Ohio. At Cedar point we stayed at a hotel right on the beach of Lake Erie,
which was walking distance from the Cedar Point amusement park, which included the fastest
roller coaster in the world inside. So, the next day we arose very early to get in line to get into
the park. The line took about an hour to go through because there was an abounding amount of
people, but it was worth it. As a result of waiting in line, the rides were so enjoyable and felt
absolutely amazing. After about five hours at the amusement park, we went back to the hotel
because we were all getting tired. We rested for about 30 minutes until my siblings and I decided
to go swimming in the lake. It was a very hot day so it was nice to get in the chilly, refreshing
water. We swam for an hour or so, and then we ate dinner. After that, we went back to the park. It
was more pleasant at night since there were fewer people in the park, and it also wasn t as hot
compared to during the day. From there on, we went back to the hotel and got an excellent night s
sleep, and we to get up very early the next day. Then, early the

Title:
What is the effect of temperature, pH, and substrate concentration on Enzyme activity?
Purpose:
Enzymes are proteins that speed up chemical reactions in cells. They break down molecules called
substrates. Each enzymes have only one substrate that breaks down. Enzymes are produced in the
cells of the body and affect the rate of almost all the chemical reactions which take place in living
organisms. The rate of enzymes activity is influenced by temperature, pH, and substrate
concentration. The purpose of this lab was to determine the affects of enzyme activity under specific
temperature changes, pH values and substrate concentration. Since heat ... Show more content on

Pivotal Dichotomy
The Pivotal Dichotomies of Science and Religion
Science can help identify and elaborate upon the laws of nature, help humans ascertain an improved
understanding of the universe, and enable people to acquire powerful thinking skills to generate
innovative and beneficial ideas. However, in the recent centuries many scholars have addressed the
numerous conflicts that have emerged between the fields of science and religion. Although certain
similar factors can render science and religion compatible, many differences have caused a
contentious divisiveness to permeate between the two fields. Many philosophers have contemplated
and debated the relationship between science and religion. While both science and religion ask and
answer questions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Religion often concentrates its arguments on the actual creator or god of the universe. For instance,
religions often assert that God is a being with intelligence, will, desires, and dislikes. Religions in
turn have a propensity to focus on the desires of the creator, the codes of behavior that God expects
humans to exhibit, rewards the creator bestows upon those who obey these requirements, and the
punishments God inflicts upon transgressors who violate the requirements. Religion also
emphasizes the specific manners by which God created the universe, as in Genesis, established by
the Ancient Israelites and promoted by modern Christians. Rather than focusing on the actual
creation or universe, religions tend to focus on the creator and the concepts of God that are
expressed and maintained in the religious doctrine. In contrast, science tends to refrain from
generating assertions regarding the creator and instead focuses entirely on the actual creation.
Science primarily addresses many different aspects of the creation, including the beginnings of the
universe, the matter and features of the world, how stars and galaxies formed, how planets were
established, how our planet generates life, and how life functions and develops on Earth. Although
science and religion both express divine laws, science focuses on the laws of nature that govern the
motions and developments of

Richard s Behavior At School
The school counselor noticed several irregularities with Richard s behavior, such as the obvious
inattention, distractibility, lack of organization, reoccurring daydreaming, and inability to follow
directions in multiple settings, which suggested that his difficulties were not solely based on a lack
of intrinsic motivation or understanding.
The school counselor described that every year Richard performed exceptionally well on
standardized tests; however, he performed poorly on assignments and achievement tests and had
terrible penmanship. His reading level was proficient, and he was talented in physical education and
art. Yet, Richard was easily distractible, disruptive in class, and highly disorganized. Richard also
struggled in mathematics and socially because he did not get along with his classmates. Although
he remained in his seat in the fourth grade, Richard had difficulty remaining in his seat and touched
his classmates belongings constantly in the first and second grade. Although isolation, structured
classroom environment, and consistent negative consequences improved Richard s behavior at
school, the school counselor was concerned because he still performed at a level below what was
expected of him. Additionally, his distractibility and difficulty following directions occurred in the
classroom, at home, and during baseball. Thus, based on the wide variety of inconsistencies in his
behavior, the school counselor may have suggested that Richard should receive

The Argument Of Capital Punishment
The Argument of Capital Punishment
There not many issues in the criminal justice system that have caused more heated discussions and
arguments as consistent and strong as that of the argument of capital punishment. Capital
punishment (death penalty) is one of the most critical issue that has strong defenders and
opponents. This kind of punishment is the most severe form in the U.S. todays and it has different
type which lethal injection is the most common ( Ethics and Law ). There have been many religious
arguments involved in both sides of the argument, citing both the need for justice and the sanctity
of human life. This debate regarding the death penalty has become a complex issue in recent years
with concerns as to the equality of the criminal justice system, the position of physicians in
assisting in executions, and the likelihood of reform, improvement and rehabilitation amid
individuals currently serving on death row. Also, Make a decision on capital punishment is so

own strong reasons. On the one hand, offenders believe fear of death prevent peoples from

Military Generals And General Douglas Macarthur
In United States history, there is a long list of premiere military Generals and General Douglas
MacArthur was on top. Even as professors and historians scrutinize his failures, MacArthur has not
only preserved his reputation, but also maintained one. General Arthur MacArthur, Douglas father,
famously told him, there are times when a truly remarkable solider must resort to unorthodox
behavior, disobeying his superiors to gain the greater glory (American Caesar). Douglas took his
father s advice to heart and many times entrenched his prominence on disobeying direct orders.

There he threatened to resign from West Point stating, I know it is an order but it is an

MacArthur had a strong political and military background as his father received the Medal of

much promise with his intellect and the instructor removed his name. MacArthur had a very

Informative Essay About Hockey
As you go through life there are many things that shape you as a person, many things that you
learn and grow from. I have experienced all of these from one thing, hockey. I started skating
when I was about 4 years old, persuaded into the sport by my dad, who came from a big hockey
family. I was so young I do not remember my first reaction to it or if I even liked it, but there must
have been a reason that I stuck with it. Hockeyhas caused me much stress and tribulation but every
second of pain is worth the reward.
Hockey is not only a sport to me, not only a pass time or a hobby, to me it is a teacher. One that

Spirit Baptism Is About The Restoration Of God s Covenant...
The subject of the baptism of the Holy Spirit has driven a wedge between Pentecostals and
Evangelicals. However, both parties fail to understand the original meaning of spirit baptism.
Therefore, this paper analyzes Lee s argument that Spirit Baptism is about the restoration of God s
covenant community. First, I will examine the articles main point along with the information he
used to support his argument. Next, this paper addresses the author s assumptions that are in his
article. This paper concludes by briefly assessing the article.
Summery
Lee s premise is Luke s use of the baptism of the Holy Spirit refers to people being included into
God s covenant community. He proposes that there is a distinction between baptism and terms used
to describe manifestations of the spirit. In other words, Spirit baptism, and the outward evidence of
the spirit are two different things. Therefore, it is unwise to seek answers from Luke to something
he did not address. To demonstrate this point, Lee brings out examples of spirit baptism in Luke s
writings.
Supporting Evidence. He begins by comparing John the Baptist s baptism in Luke 3:1 22 to Jesus
baptism of the spirit in Acts 2. He proposes that the baptism of John was symbolic while Christ s
baptism ushered in a new era that would redeem humanity from their living damnation. In other
words, John s baptism was an outward representation of a coming future reality while Jesus s
baptism was the manifestation of that

Athletes with head trauma should be required to sit out of the game until their head is fully healed.
Although a medical professional signs a paper allowing them to go back into the game, they should

New England Colonies Vs Southern Colonies Essay
Although each of the four colonies is distinct, I think no two are more different than the New
England and Southern Colonies. Each colony developed differently based in large part by the first
people to settle them. Those in the north came to America for religious reasons were those in the
south were more interested in economic interests. Both colonies grew and thrived in unique ways
and helped shape our country to be what it is today.
The first true goal of New England colonists was religious. They were tired of the ceremonial
Church of England so Pilgrims and Puritans worked to recreate society the way they thought god
wanted. After Henry VIII broke with the Catholic Church of Rome the new church was created and
approved by English Parliament. England was divided between English Catholics and the New
Church (Anglicans) and many battles ensued. Queen Elizabeth brought an end to the bloodshed but
many were still angry. Pilgrims and Puritans believed in the teachings of John Calvin who taught

Political Movements Like The No Child Left Behind
Intro Political movements like the No child left behind , have in turn placed political pressures on

that is wrong with the system protecting ineffective and unprofessional teachers (p.20). However,
statements like this take a one size fits all approach, which is generally a path of ignorance.
Teacher tenure was created from a fight for First Amendment protections and freed teachers from
harsh administrators, protected teachers from principals who could simply hire and fire at their
own whim (Greenwald, 2010). Schools that are located in areas with high poverty and crime are
usually underfunded and good teachers are not attracted by what they are being paid for those
positions. Should teachers get special treatment and pay, because they are educators? The
recruitment efforts of hiring new teachers into bad impoverished areas should be offset by higher
salaries and combat pay to compensate for the risk of working in that type of environment. Teacher

Prufrock is a man with great inhibitions who only dares to dream of professing his affection to a
woman. Throughout the poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrockby Thomas Elliot, the narrator
has expressed certainty about his beloved s interest in him, and he is more than inclined on
accepting it. However, due to Prufrock s low self esteem and apathy, he regretfully allows the
opportunity to pass him by. Prufrock ponders about what could have been: Would it have... Show

He is the type of person who appears nonchalant to others, but he is in fact too frightened to make
any radical decisions. Profrock s inferiority complex is apparently shown throughout the narration
of the poem, as he repeatedly addressing his frail arms and legs and balding hair. As a matter of
fact, he contemplates on following through the most trivial things such as parting his hair back or
eating a peach in front of people. Winston Churchill once says: To improve is to change; to perfect
is to change often (1). Perfection is a dynamic concept that demands its beholder to change
accordingly. On the contrary, Prufrock makes no attempt to overcome his insecurities, while he,
instead, blames himself for his cowardice. Furthermore, he finds consolation in women s ridicules
and hostility due to the fact that they pay him some degree of attention. At this point, the narrator s
social anxiety and sexual frustration is readily apparent to everyone. Therefore, it is completely
reasonable how he cannot summon the proper ambition to ask his overwhelming question. Adding
insult to injuries, he further deludes himself into thinking that he should carry on with his life
leisurely, while his thinning hair suggests that he

Richard The Third King
Richard the third was born in England on Oct 2, 1452. His father was Richard, Duke of York,
and his mother was called Cecily. When Richard s father died, his oldest brother, Edward,
became king. King Edward, who died in 1460, left Edward, Earl of Warwick, as heir to the
throne. Edward was only 12 years old so Richard was appointed as Lord Protector until Edward
became old enough to claim the throne. In June of 1483, Ralph Shaa declared that King Edward s
marriage to Elizabeth Woodville had been invalid and therefore their children were illegitimate and
could not succeed the throne. Richard then, by an act of parliament, became king. He ruled from
1483 till his death in August of 1485. Richard had always been very faithful to his brother... Show

Richard certainly had the means to murder the two brothers. They were both under his control in
the Tower of London. Richard had multiple people he could ask to kill the brothers without
anyone knowing. Although Richard had these capabilities, there would have been no real
motive for him to kill the princes. Richard would not have killed them in order to become king,
as they were declared to be illegitimate children of Edward. This would leave Richard as the
next heir. Therefore, parliament, recognizing this, set the crown on Richard in the act called
Titulus Regius. Not only did Richard have no motive to kill the prices, but it also was not in his
character to do that. He had always been faithful to his brother. On April 21, 1483, Richard
publicly swore an oath promising to recognize his nephew, Prince Edward, as successor to the
throne. Not many people then would have broken any kind of oath. Countless other people with
stronger motives than Richard could have murdered the princes. The princes could have died of
natural causes as well. It is known that a doctor was visiting the princes during their stay in the

Despite of the stagnant population in western countries the balance of power was increasing from
large scale manufacturers like NestlГ©, toward supermarkets and discounted chain stores. In result,
NestlГ© decided to lessen its focus on developed markets like North America and its home based

decision of expanding its market share in emerging market is simple, as the population grows and
government decisions favoring market economies brings attractive business opportunities for public

Trifles uses feminism to exemplify Sartre s position. Glaspell illustrates socially superior men who
order the women to remain downstairs while the men investigate, thereby highlighting the women s
inferior societal status; Glaspell further instills the female subjugation as the men use their own last

Eliot depicts Prufrock s personal reminiscence, Prufrock notes his decisions and revisions and
further revisions, which stand as the protagonist s fundamental remembrances as important choices
inscribing his tabula rosa and formulating his essence. Additionally, Eliot presents his meager man
choosing to avoid choice, which ironically reflects a profound choice; clearly, Prufrock chooses
indecision and, thereby, molds his psychologically painful and hesitant essence. However, a
dichotomy does exist. Perhaps, Eliot rejects Sartre s position you are the sole author of your
own existence since Eliot depicts vacuous, pseudo intellectual women who talk shallowly of
Michelangelo, rather than using the powerful freedom to choose and self define. However, this
perspective rings erroneous since the women, much like Camus Sisyphean understanding, own
and choose to live this vacuous life, thereby constructing their own fulfilling essence. If I could
talk to Sartre today, I would ask him the following: I m a sixteen year old orthodox Jew and
religion hounds my ability to choose. My parents, school Rabbis, pulpit Rabbi, synagogue
Cantor, and inflexible religious laws squeeze my future s trajectory into a narrow, straight path,
so how can I possibly sculpt my own essence? Iron blue and white (the Israeli flag) chains confine
my meager freedom to choose and deadbolt other views and paths. I suppose I can still make some
choices, even though my freedom to do so

My Life Of A Christian Home
The older I get, and the closer I get to adulthood, I am always trying to figure out the reason I am
alive. Being the small person I am in such a big world, it makes it difficult for me to understand
why I am here and what I am supposed to do. Growing up in a Christian home, I was taught to
follow the rules, have good morals, and to be a follower of God. However, I never know if what
I am doing is the right thing. I have donated most of my free time to my church, but instead of
being involved in the action, I am usually in the back, pondering about what is so good about
attending. I finally realized, maybe it isn t the church itself, but the way our church is always
finding ways to help people.

water for everyone. I had the small and easy tasks the first day. But all the jobs switched going
into the second day. I was then instructed to unload the trucks and pass the material to the workers.
This job was not as easy as the other.
That same day, I noticed more people traveling by the construction site and taking a look at what
was going on. I also saw children playing football nearby. On my break I walked over to the
children to watch them play. I sat off to the side underneath a tree, out of the way so that I wouldn

age of eight, walked up and sat next to me. She didn t say anything. She just sat down and
watched the other kids play football. I began to greet her, but she just sat there looking out in the
field. So I respected her silence and continued to watch as well. Finally, my break was over and I
had to get back to work. So I looked over at the little girl and said same time tomorrow? She never
replied so I walked away and got back to work.

Criminal Defence Lawyer
here are certain things that should be taken care of when you consider hiring a criminal defence
lawyer. If you are unable to afford the fees of an attorney, the court may appoint a public defence
lawyer for you. You will be required to disclose your financial information, and whether you have a
job, in which case, the court may ask you to pay a certain amount as fee at the end of the case.
Finding a Criminal Defence Attorney However, if you do not qualify for a public defender, or else
you are looking to hire your own attorney, you need to look for a private criminal defence lawyer.
There are several ways to go about it. One easy way is to ask around your family members, friends
and work colleagues. If any of them have hired a criminal defence lawyer,... Show more content on

You should stop yourself to blurt out your version of events. Follow carefully what the lawyer

lawyer to represent you. If you have met with one, but the lawyer fulfils all your requirements, you
can make a snap decision. However, with two or more, get the name and contact information of
some of their previous clients. Contact these clients and get their feedback. What qualities of the
attorney they liked about? What did they dislike? Will they hire the lawyer again when the need

Ethical Dilemmas In Nursing Practice
Ethical dilemmas will always be a part of our nursing practice due to such a diverse patient
culture. In some cultural groups, religion dictates the care that is given and by whom (Pacquiao,
2016). The purpose of this paper is to discuss an ethical dilemma that I have encountered in my
nursing practice and how the dilemma was perceived. Culturally congruent care will also be
defined. Describe an Ethical Dilemma Working in obstetrics and gynecology, the patient
population is all female. We see many Muslim patients from Arab countries. In any obstetric or
gynecology scenario Muslim women must have a female provider (Mclean et al., 2012). We had a
patient scheduled with one of the male physicians for the first obstetric appointment, where a
physical exam would be completed. When the patient arrived, her spouse informed the staff that
she cannot be seen by a male provider. The male physician was not familiar with this preference.
He was frustrated because when this patient presents to the hospital for delivery, there may not be a
female on call to care for her. Fortunately, there was another physician in clinic that day that could
see her so the patient would not have the inconvenience of being rescheduled.... Show more content

The Matter And Procedure At 3 Pemberton Square
The Matter and Procedure
On Friday, September 23, 2016, I visited the Suffolk Superior Courthouse located at 3 Pemberton
Square in Boston. The judge is Hon. Heide Brieger.
The case was about a woman, Meaghan Fitzpatrick, suing Wendy s, JBM Souderton (Wendy s
meat supplier), and Willow Run Foods. She claimed that there were bones in a burger she bought
from Wendy s, which caused her having to go through multiple oral surgeries, pain, and years of
psychological discomfort.
The case continued from Thursday and started with the defendant s attorney, Christopher Duggan,
questioning the witness for Wendy s, a middle age man who works at JBM as a manager. The
witness testified about the meat making process in JBM, and was then cross examined by the
plaintiff s attorney, Matthew Fogelman. Mr. Fogelman then called the plaintiff, Meaghan
Fitzpatrick, to the witness stand. She testified about what happened after she bite the burger and
what she had go through afterwards. The trial then proceeded to closing statements.
The Witnesses
The defendant s witness was a JBM manager with decades of experience in the industry. He
testified that the process of meat making in JBM is extremely rigorous with multiple level of
inspection and above standard equipment. He showed the jury the entire beef making process by
drawing on a board. The lawyer has also submitted the final grind as an exhibit to prove that any
bone bigger than a certain size will not be able go through. All was guided by

Why Does Catalase Decomposes Hydrogen Peroxide
The purpose of this lab was to study some characteristics of enzyme action by investigating how the
enzyme catalase decomposes hydrogen peroxide. It connects to our unit about enzymes because it
illustrates how enzymes decompose their substrates and their rate of decomposition. In the graph of
the more accurate experiment, it shows that the amount of product (in mL) gradually increased over
time until at about 120 seconds. After that, it would just gradually begin to plateau meaning enzyme
activity would no longer increase. Overall, both sets of data show that the amount of H2O2
decomposed gradually increased over time, and after a certain time, the number would stop
climbing. The purpose of the potassium permanganate, or KMnO4, was to titrate the H2O2 in the
solution, which we could then use to figure out how much of it was decomposed.... Show more

We could use the H2O4 because acids will interfere with hydrogen bonds and other IMFs in the
enzyme which would denature it, permanently making the enzyme unable to work. The catalase was
the enzyme that acted on the product, which was hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). And of course, the
hydrogen peroxide, or H2O2, was the substrate and the catalase was the enzyme. Our results
seemed to be consistent because once we added the necessary amount that was needed to
determine the amount of H2O2 in the solution, the color of the solution afterwards would
always be a light, clear brown, as opposed to having various colors and shades each time. This
means that we added the correct, proportional amount of potassium permanganate each time. In
comparison to the class data, less of our H2O2 was decomposed. For example, for the trial for 30
seconds, 0.6 mL of our H2O2 was decomposed while the average for the class data was 2.22

Gun Politics Of The United States

The second amendment was adopted in 1791 and added to the U.S. Constitution to defend

known as District of Columbia v. Heller . The ruling established that the Second Amendment to the
Constitution the right of the people to keep and bear arms means that individuals, and not just the

ones right to keep a gun at home for self defense, but didn t state anything about controlling guns.

Before the person is able to start their car, they have to blow into the Breathalyzer that is

  • 2. Symbols In The Poisonwood Bible There are various depictions of opposite ideas in Barbra Kingsolver s The Poisonwood Bible . Symbols of good and evil, lights and darks, sick and healthy, and social and natural balances are reoccurring images throughout Kingsolver s work. Among these images is the one shown of Nathan Price and his counterpart Brother Fowles. Nathan Price is a typical hardcore southern Baptist from South Carolina. Without even asking for his family s opinion, Nathan decides that he wants to go to the Congo to be a missionary; thus plunging them blindly into Hell. Nathan continues firm with his plans wielding the motive to redeem his guilt from his WWII days. Unfortunately for the Price family and the Congolese, Nathans arrogance and selfish behavior doesn t... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His stubborn nature gives him the idea that the Congolese people are naked, uneducated savages. He has no ear for what his family says, or what their opinions are, and has a very cram the word of God down your throat way of preaching. Nathan is completely ignorant to the Congolese way of life, and language, that he doesn t realize that he calls Jesus poisonwood in a mispronunciation of the Congolese word for precious. Nathan wanted to baptize the people of the Congo to redeem his guilt in the eyes God. Nathan felt that he was doing God a favor by taking his family to the Congo and trying to convert as many people as possible. Furthermore; Nathan Price walks into the Congo with a Western attitude completely failing to adapt to the Congolese culture and ideas (even failing to realize that the people were afraid of the river because of crocodiles) making them less accepting of him and his teachings. Brother Fowles acts as Nathan s foil and depicts the other side of the Christian religion, and how a missionary can be successful. Brother Fowles is married to a Congolese woman and explains how the men and women of the Congo are actually very religious and not just the tickets to heaven that Nathan sees them as. Brother Fowles has pantheistic ideas which automatically make the Congolese more accepting of the religion that he is preaching to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Traditionally, decision making was premised on production quotas that kept supply slightly behind demand. While the company made a profit, it was not enough to sustain the company in the long term due increasing costs caused by inefficient methods of production. The key area for improvement was strategic planning based on detailed and accurate information. The implementation of the strategic plan would require a review of human resource managementpractices in order for MMC to develop into an organisation that valued continuous innovation. In the first instance, focus should be on developing managers to help facilitate organisational change (Waldersee, 1997) and enable them to be effective role models within the company. Additionally, where there are identified skills gaps, it should also target content specific areas e.g. contemporary sales and marketing practices would make up for the sales director s lack of recent sales experience. Once again, Charles was led by example by enrolling in an MBA, thus demonstrating his commitment to ongoing education and development. Although collectivism has traditionally been associated with eastern cultures (HГ¤rtel, Fujimoto, Straybosch, Fitzpatrick, 2007), motor companies like Ford and Toyota moved away from Taylorism and demonstrated the value of teamwork in vehicle manufacturing (Winfield Kerrin, 1996). However, MMC s reward system of individual production bonuses did not acknowledge the value of teamwork. Moreover, an unspecified dollar amount that was eroded by inefficiencies in the production process did not provide an incentive to improve production. Not only should these individual production bonuses be quantified, the company should also consider a reward system for foremen to acknowledge their efforts in encouraging individuals and teams to achieve higher production. • 5. The Types Of Bone Tissue Bone tissue is a connective tissue with an abundant matrix of intercellular substances that encloses widely separated cells. The bone matrix is made up of an inorganic component known as mineral salts that hardens the bone, and an inorganic component collagen fibres and an amorphous mixture called ground substance, which gives the boneits strength (Tortora, Grabowski 2001). There are three types of cells that can be found in the bone, they are osteoblasts, osteoclasts and osteocytes. Osteoblasts are the cells that synthesizes a specialized organic material called osteoid which is important in the build up of mineralized bone, osteoclasts are relatively larger multi nucleate cells made up of mitochondria and lysosomes that are responsible for the continuous erosion of bones. Lastly the last cells found in the bone are osteocytes, these are adult osteoblast cells found in the lacunae that have been surrounded by mineralized matrix. (Thibodeau, Patton 2003).Osteocytes are responsible for maintaining metabolism within the bone such as the exchange of nutrients with the blood. There are four types of bones short bones, long bones, flat bones and irregular bones, which have different characteristics so at to be able to function effectively. Long bones are greater in length than width and is made up of varying numbers of ends and a shaft, an example is the humerus which is located in the arm. Dwight D. Eisenhower. In a place, where Unwinding is permitted for saving lives and possible, people must take a stand against this rebellion. The novel, Unwind by Neal Shusterman s, showed commitment and leadership roles throughout the novel. This type of leadership and commitment came from Connor, Roland, and the Admiral. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The best leadership moment was in part seven, when Risa and Connor return to the Graveyard to run it. The Admiral is too weak, having refused to take a new heart from an Unwind, and Connor stepped in. Connor delivers a powerful speech that sets course for becoming the best leader in this novel. Overall, Connor influenced others in a positive way and can be described as a great positive leader in this book, Unwind. A leader can also influence others in a negative way by using the technique, persuasion. This leader who influenced others in a negative way was Roland. Shusterman gave Roland to have great persuasion; and, Roland persuaded anyone who was in his way to step aside as he persevered to become the biggest and greatest leader of all. For example he made up lies about the Admiral saying that the Admiral used Unwinds just so he could get certain parts. He killed Emby so he could have his hair. Also the Admiral s teeth and the scars on his face were from unwinding. Roland is not a killer, but a fighter. He is said to be strong, brave and a good leader. He s manipulative and uses people for his own personal gain. He is also intimidating and has a tendency to lose his temper quickly. Here is a summary of what service providers need to know about SQL Server 2016, as well as what it means for SQL Server 2016 licensing requirements. Joseph Sirosh, Microsoft s Corporate Vice President, Data Group, said SQL Server 2016 is the fastest and most price performant database for hybrid transactional and analytical processing (HTAP). New Stretch Database technology now targets hybrid cloud solutions to reduce storage costs, simplify IT operations and improve overall availability. This ultimately results in more historical data accessible by transparently and securely stretching warm and cold OLTP data to Microsoft Azure on demand without application changes. Lastly, faster replicas can be placed in Azure to provide cost effective disaster recovery and backups. For additional information, read the SQL Server 2016 Release Notes and SQL Server 2016 datasheet. Biggest Takeaway for Service Providers? Among the bevy of new features included in SQL Server 2016, the added security benefits are front and center. This is significant for service providers, who by now are asked constantly by their end user clients how to achieve stronger data security from malicious and everyday hackers. SQL Server 2016 includes a new feature called Always Encrypted . This feature lets users encrypt data all the way from server to client, since it depends on client side keys, which are distributed to clients. A new Always Encrypted enabled driver is required, but the encryption is transparent to applications. This added level of security is significant because of the costs now associated with data breaches. • 8. A Taste Of Power By Elaine Brown A Taste of Power was written by Elaine Brown who grew up in a poor neighborhood in Philadelphia and sensed what it meant to be black people, female, and poor American. Elaine Brown described her experiences as a woman in the inner circle of the Central Committee. In contrast to the black men s narratives of their experiences, Elaine Brown points up defects of the revolutionary vanguard. The Black Panther Partys buildings of a revolution were actually self righteous; a revolution without the liberation of Black women from patriarchy would never lead to equality for all. Brown acknowledged, like many other women in the Black Panther Party that systems of racial and classist oppression were indeed intertwined with sexism. Though this lens... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Newton envisioned the Black Panther Party leading would never be realized. An important theme in Elaine Brown s book is the pervasive gender inequality within the party. Many panther women would agree with Brown on gender inequality, as it was pervasive in many if not all panther chapters. In addition, she highlights what she thought were causes of the fall of the party, and the changing platform, which she takes much credit for. Other panther members have addressed these issues as well. There seems to be some disagreement on what ultimately caused the demise of such an iconic force, and Brown attempts to piece together the many reasons. Brown had the large task of combating sexism as well as handling Central Committee conflicts that caused division in the party. She describes the way state sanctioned violence killed many beloved Panther members, the inter Panther conflict that caused international tensions to rise and because of her intimate love connection to Huey Newton also provides a candid view into his mindset. Brown dealt with these conflicts, which at times seemed unresolvable and eventually left the Black Panther Party after many years of faithful service. Prior to Brown s assignment as chairman, one could look at the Central Committee of the Black Panther Party and safely assume that testosterone was a pre requisite for revolution. What (if anything) did Abbott do right and what did he do wrong? What additional information do you need about the downsizing effort in order to fully understand the process? I think that Abbott did right by finding alternatives to workforce layoffs. It was good thought by giving early retirement to employees over the age 55. Is disparate impact theory applicable to downsizing decisions? If so, create some data that would illustrate the use of this theory of discrimination. In disparate impact theory, the plaintiff has to show that there was discrimination done by his employer. He has to show that discrimination was involved in his dismissal and not on the basis of his performance at work. The employer would be charged by the disparate impact theory if age, sex or racial discrimination is proven. 6. If prima facie evidence of age discrimination is found, what burden (if any) would Brooks Pharmaceuticals have? • 11. Persuasive Essay On Attending High School The next chapter in many people s lives is moving away from their hometown and attending college. What people don t yet understand is the major differences between college and high school. Another idea that is not thought of, are they prepared to handle the difficulties and challenges that go forth in earning their desired degree? Attending collegeis only for people who are willing to take on this challenge. In high school, it is illegal to be truant and classroom attendance is required to graduate so, the only responsibility that a student has is to arrive at school on time. Since attendance is required, it is easy to get into a routine that stays constant over four years. All that is needed is to show up to the first class of the day and all classes are set up for the rest of the day. In class, teachers usually hand out assignments regularly and tell their students the due dates of each assignment. Some teachers even go ahead and have any assignments that are due posted in their classroom to remind students every day. The only responsibility that the high school student has is to look at the white board and remind themselves that they might have an assignment to do that night at home. Once they go home after a day at school, students will have the help of their parents or guardians to ask if they have homework that night. Parents are an enormous help when it comes to high school. Students have the responsibility from their parents to help them be reminded constantly of upcoming events and due dates. The work load that also comes from high school is, what most would call, minimal compared to a college setting. Classes in high school are a year long term and each section of each course is drawn out. For example, a class could take two weeks to complete one chapter. This allows teachers to explain the material in detail and give out worksheets that contain small portions of one chapter. Most of these worksheets can be completed in class allowing students to not have any work outside of the class room. What this creates is a workload that is very simple to maintain and allow students to worry less about working at home. In most college classrooms, the instructor does not take attendance. Their mindset is that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The World Of The Eastern Hemisphere Before the renowned expeditions of Christopher Columbus, or Ferdinand Magellan, the Polo family were the original explorers whose triumphs and success stories inspired future travelers to discover the unknown world of the Eastern hemisphere. During the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, Europe was in need of an intervention, something to bring life to the dull communities throughout the continent. Marco Polobrought exactly this, and contributed so much more with his travels across the world, bringing back religious morals, new spices, new languages, and new commercial goods that were never heard of before. Although his intention might not have been as significant as his impact, the obstacles he encountered and traversed through as written throughout his book, sparked an interest and desire for international trade and traveling for Europeans to come. His unique spark and impressive capabilities proved he was a tough man, especially with the voyages he survived, the diseases he avoided, the country he governed, the bandit ambushes he fought, and imprisonment he endured. Not only was he able to document his journey to various places, but he was also able to spread his experience throughout Europe, thereby immortalizing his name. Organizations are not buildings or other physical structures; rather, organizations are the people who work together to achieve a set of goals (Koh Kahn, 1966). These people come with variant motivations, experiences and values and their individual differences tend to direct behavior in numerous divergent directions. To direct behavior toward the accomplishment of a focused mission, the organizations have to develop mechanism, which reduces behavior variability. Organizational structure and organizational culture has been described as the mechanisms to reduce behavior variability (Weber, 1946; Burns Stalker, 1961; Mintzberg, 1979; Schein, 1985; Weick, 1987; Dension, 1990). However both of them have unique impact on individual behavioral outcomes i.e. satisfaction, stress, motivation, alienation, and performance etc. It is needed to have a deeper understanding of the functional roles of structural and cultural forces in the workplace so as to understand the behavioral outcomes of the individual employees and to reduce the behavioral variability for achieving organizational goals. For an organization to perform well in a competitive environment there must be internal consistency among the four dimensions of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s something that is always changing as you meet new people, move to new places, or simply could just change out of the blue. In the article I m a Social (network) Drinker: Alcohol Related Facebook Posts, Drinking Identity, and Alcohol Use, the authors looked at the associations between social media and alcohol use and how they affect our identity. Because we are all human,we are all trying to be accepted by society, which causes people to shape their identities to the certain situation. Drinking identity is a concept that I was rather unfamiliar with until this article. It is defined in this study as a component of identity that is associated with heavier drinking and more negative alcohol related consequences (107). Drinking identity is basically how alcohol affects your way of living. In the poem Mending Wall the author Robert Frost uses poetic elements to express the idea that barriers to communication, exchange of ideas and relationships should be questioned. By the use of particular form, rhythm and tone, his choice of words, and use of imagery and symbols the author uses a small poem to express a large idea. The poem is written in blank verse, which is unrimed iambic pentameter. According to the authors of Backpack Literature, X. J. The wall in the poem is a stone wall between the fields belonging to two neighbors. In the spring they work together to set the wall between us once again (14). The author s use of the tactile image of we wear our fingers rough with handling them (20) shows how much effort is involved in maintaining walls. Maintaining distance between other people also requires effort. In the line He is all pine and I am apple orchard (24) the author uses the symbol of the two different types of trees to represent the two neighbors, and the difference between staying fixed behind a rigid wall and being willing to be open to new ideas, to allow the wall to come down. The neighbor s pines are a hard wood with prickly pine cones and needle shaped leaves that are unchanging as an evergreen. His ideas are also hard and unchanging. The speaker s trees are deciduous apple trees that provide nourishing food, sweet smelling flowers and change with the seasons like his openness to the idea of leaving the wall down. Religion often concentrates its arguments on the actual creator or god of the universe. For instance, religions often assert that God is a being with intelligence, will, desires, and dislikes. Religion also emphasizes the specific manners by which God created the universe, as in Genesis, established by the Ancient Israelites and promoted by modern Christians. First, I will examine the articles main point along with the information he used to support his argument. Next, this paper addresses the author s assumptions that are in his article. This paper concludes by briefly assessing the article. Summery Lee s premise is Luke s use of the baptism of the Holy Spirit refers to people being included into God s covenant community. He proposes that there is a distinction between baptism and terms used to describe manifestations of the spirit. In other words, Spirit baptism, and the outward evidence of the spirit are two different things. Therefore, it is unwise to seek answers from Luke to something he did not address. To demonstrate this point, Lee brings out examples of spirit baptism in Luke s writings. Supporting Evidence. He begins by comparing John the Baptist s baptism in Luke 3:1 22 to Jesus baptism of the spirit in Acts 2. This essay will assess the debate on whether or not reality television is becoming more like a form of tabloidization; whether, reality TV has shifted from to entertaining the audience rather than educating the audience. • 37. New England Colonies Vs Southern Colonies Essay Although each of the four colonies is distinct, I think no two are more different than the New England and Southern Colonies. Each colony developed differently based in large part by the first people to settle them. Those in the north came to America for religious reasons were those in the south were more interested in economic interests. Both colonies grew and thrived in unique ways and helped shape our country to be what it is today. The first true goal of New England colonists was religious. They were tired of the ceremonial Church of England so Pilgrims and Puritans worked to recreate society the way they thought god wanted. After Henry VIII broke with the Catholic Church of Rome the new church was created and approved by English Parliament. England was divided between English Catholics and the New Church (Anglicans) and many battles ensued. Queen Elizabeth brought an end to the bloodshed but many were still angry. When considering educational reform, teacher tenure reform becomes the hot topic under scrutiny. According to Greenwald (2010), ...teacher tenurerepresents all that is wrong with the system protecting ineffective and unprofessional teachers (p.20). However, statements like this take a one size fits all approach, which is generally a path of ignorance. Teacher tenure was created from a fight for First Amendment protections and freed teachers from harsh administrators, protected teachers from principals who could simply hire and fire at their own whim (Greenwald, 2010). Schools that are located in areas with high poverty and crime are usually underfunded and good teachers are not attracted by what they are being paid for those positions. Should teachers get special treatment and pay, because they are educators? The recruitment efforts of hiring new teachers into bad impoverished areas should be offset by higher salaries and combat pay to compensate for the risk of working in that type of environment. Why Does Catalase Decomposes Hydrogen Peroxide The purpose of this lab was to study some characteristics of enzyme action by investigating how the enzyme catalase decomposes hydrogen peroxide. It connects to our unit about enzymes because it illustrates how enzymes decompose their substrates and their rate of decomposition. In the graph of the more accurate experiment, it shows that the amount of product (in mL) gradually increased over time until at about 120 seconds. After that, it would just gradually begin to plateau meaning enzyme activity would no longer increase. Overall, both sets of data show that the amount of H2O2 decomposed gradually increased over time, and after a certain time, the number would stop climbing. The purpose of the potassium permanganate, or KMnO4, was to titrate the H2O2 in the solution, which we could then use to figure out how much of it was decomposed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We could use the H2O4 because acids will interfere with hydrogen bonds and other IMFs in the enzyme which would denature it, permanently making the enzyme unable to work. The catalase was the enzyme that acted on the product, which was hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). And of course, the hydrogen peroxide, or H2O2, was the substrate and the catalase was the enzyme. Our results seemed to be consistent because once we added the necessary amount that was needed to determine the amount of H2O2 in the solution, the color of the solution afterwards would always be a light, clear brown, as opposed to having various colors and shades each time. This means that we added the correct, proportional amount of potassium permanganate each time. In comparison to the class data, less of our H2O2 was decomposed. For example, for the trial for 30 seconds, 0.6 mL of our H2O2 was decomposed while the average for the class data was 2.22 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
