Comparing Pygmalion And The Makeover, By George Bernard Shaw
No matter if a person is a reader of Pygmalion, written by George Bernard Shaw, or a viewer of The
Makeover, it is understood both Eliza Doolittle and Elliot Doolittle are in need of a transformation.
Throughout both the book and film, both characters were going through drastic changes in life. In the
play, Pygmalion, Eliza Doolittle, living in London England, was considered an illiterate, poor girl.
Eliza is a girl that stands at a flower shop and sells flowers. Heavy summer rain had settled into
London, and all the people were seeking shelter. Henry Higgins along with Colonel Pickering and
Freddy were among those taking shelter that very day. Freddy s mother had told him to take a taxi
home. Opening his umbrella, Freddy ran into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hannah is competing against a local weather man for a Congress position. As the film continues,
Hannah s outcome is not so great; she loses to the local weather man. Hannah Higgins is compared to
Henry Higgins, in Pygmalion, because she is grumpy most of the time. After her recent loss, Hannah
and Colleen Pickering were back at the office reviewing. Elliot Doolittle, the local beer distributor,
walked by. He was speaking in a language nobody could understand. Hannah walked up to him telling
him his speaking was not correct. He was extremely offended by her comment and walked away.
The local weather man, competing for the role, never got the weather right, so the day he made his
speech was not any different. He did not know of any thunderstorms in the area, so he died from a
lightning strike. Hannah Higgins was, then, eligible to be in the race again. People would not vote for
her, though, so she had to find some way to win the race. Her perfect solution was to get Elliot
Doolittle in the race. The only problem with him was he was not well dressed and could not speak
fluently. Hannah had also offended him earlier, so the chances of him doing this favor for her was not

Tuskegee Ethical Dilemmas
4. The Tuskegee Study was a classic example of ethics abuse in research. What were three wrongs
committed in that study?
The first ethical violation surrounds confidentiality. According to research, confidentiality is not an
issue when observing large groups, where individual responses or actions are not considered or when
participants identifiable information is not involved. Even in cases where there are large groups being
assessed it is up to the researcher to use good judgment in making decisions regarding what
information should be shared (Explorable, 2018). In the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment, individual
responses/ reactions were taken into consideration and each participant s identifiable information was
used. Thus, the participants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

An Oedipal Relationship in Beneix s Diva Essay
The relationship between Jules and Cynthia Hawkins in Jean Jacques Beneix s Diva is uniquely
complex and vaguely oedipal. For Jules, the diva represents musical perfection, and he is completely
in love with her. However, her relationship to him is somewhat maternal. Jules s obsession with
Cynthia Hawkins is rather unhealthy, and he violates her purity. However, her maternal attitude
towards him allows for reconciliation despite his mistakes.
From the very beginning of the movie, the voice of Cynthia Hawkins pervades everything. In fact, the
opening title sequence tricks the viewer into thinking her voice is non diegetic sound, mere
background music for the on screen occurrences. However, when Jules turns off his tape deck, the ...

Alba can instantly detect his infatuation with the diva from the way he longingly stares at the lifelike
portrait of Cynthia, with her stolen dress draped over it almost as if the painting is wearing the gown.
Jules brings the diva s dress to a black prostitute, and has her wear the gown, trying to delude himself
into the illusion that he is with Cynthia Hawkins. Jules displays many of the characteristics of a young
lover. He brings flowers to Cynthia, and is content to hear the sound of her voice or be connected to
her in any way. When Jules and Cynthia meet for their walk, he holds her umbrella over her head
while they meander through the park. Also typical of an adolescent lover afraid to make a first move,
Jules moves closer and closer to her, slowly and hesitantly putting his hand on her shoulder, draping
his arm around her.
Despite his obvious romantic desires for Cynthia Hawkins, there are also some aspects of a maternal
relationship. Jules cuddles her gown while listening to her sing, seeking motherly comfort in the sound
of her music. Cynthia is comforted by her young fan. Although no one ever listens to her rehearse, she
allows Jules to stay and listen. It s strange, but I think I d like you to be there while I m working, she
tells him. Despite the way that Jules violates her in almost every way possible, Cynthia forgives him;
her reasons for this stem from the kind of unconditional love that mothers have for their children.

Bob s Monologue
He was young, vibrant and intelligent. A son any parent would be proud of, he excelled at most
everything he did. A senior in high school, 2 short months away from graduation, Bo was very
involved with his youth group at church. He was also active actor in the high school and local theater,
president of the Thespian Troupe and a member of the Varsity Choir. Bo met no strangers. He was
always smiling, had hugs for everyone and always said I love you to anyone who had ever been a
friend. His energy and charisma were contagious. March 17, 2017 was no different. It was a normal
school day for Bo. At lunch he was laughing and roughhousing with the school resource officer. Later
that day, he and his best friend Belle made plans for their upcoming performance at senior night. After
school that day, Bo went home and was on the phone with his girlfriend when he fatally shot himself
in the chest. I don t believe Bo knew earlier in the day that it would be his last. He and his girlfriend
were having relationship problems and, in an instant, Bo decided to impulsively end his life. What if
things had been different? What if there was no gun in the house? What if Bo s ability to act on that
impulsive thought at that moment hadn t been readily accessible? As a community we can make a
huge impact on decreasing teenage suicide by simply practicing gun safety.

The De Goya Y Lucientes
He is considered the most important artist in Spain during the late 18th and early 19th century and was
one of the most prominent and successful painters in Europe. Francisco Jose de Goya y Lucientes was
a romantic painter and printmaker whose style changed drastically throughout his life; he is
considered the last of the Old Masters and the first of the moderns. His style fits into the category of
Romanticism, which is most apparent in his paintings of the Spanish Royal family after becoming
First Painter to the King of Spain in 1786. Six years later, he suffered an awful illness which
ultimately left him deaf and shaped his future work. After Napoleon Bonaparte rose to prominence
during the French Revolution, Spain was invaded due to its political and strategic importance to the
French. Goya was able to capture the horrors he saw in his anti war works produced in paintings and
with intaglio prints which he didn t make public. The throne of Spain was taken by Joseph Bonaparte,
Napoleon s brother, who was backed by a large French military force. After the political situation in
Spain normalized and rule was returned to it s rightful heir, Goya returned to painting commissioned
portraits. With ailing health, he moved to a country home where he completed the haunting Black
Paintings which were painted directly to his walls. Due to his health, he received permission from
King Ferdinand IV for an indefinite leave of absence and relocates to Paris. He completes a small

Gatorade Lab Report
Background
The growth and survival of a plant depends on the reactions that occur internally called
photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a reaction that captures the sun s energy and converts it, water, and
carbon dioxide into glucose, with a byproduct of oxygen. Glucose is a sugar that provides energy to
allow for a plant to grow and live. This experiment is to test how photosynthesis can be sped up with a
home solution. The variable being changed in this experiment is the solution that the plant is being
given. In this instance, some of the plants will be given Gatorade, rather than water. The question
being asked is, How well will a solution found in the home affect plant growth?
My hypothesis is that, if a plant is given Gatorade instead of water, then it will grow more quickly
than if the plant is just given water. This is because of the components of Gatorade. Gatorade contains
water, a key component of plant growth. But, because Gatorade contains various vitamins, sugars, and
electrolytes, the plant should already be supplied with some of the products of photosynthesis, so the
plant should produce sugars at a normal rate, plus have the additional bonus from the Gatorade.
Procedure
Four cups of equal size were filled with one cup of garden soil. Lima beans were planted at an equal
depth (one inch as instructed on the bag). Every day, for 33 days, each plant received one half
tablespoon of the specified liquid. Beans one and two got one half tablespoon of water each,

Louis Zamperini s Character Analysis

Laura Hillenbrand impeccably captures the most miniscule details of Zamperini s life from the

success, with the help of his beloved family never undermined. Provided, the Zamperini family played
an instrumental role filled with unwavering support and dedication to their dear Louis throughout his
great feats and strenuous journeys. Pete Zamperini was the older brother of Louis, and while being
brothers, they were still the complete opposites of one another. A handsome young man, Pete was also

principal that Louie craved attention, but had never won it in the form of praise, so he sought it in the
form of punishment. If Louie were recognized for doing something right, Pete argued, he d turn his
life around (13). Growing up, no one was completely sure on whether or not Louis would amount to
anything, but with the help of Pete he became one of the greatest runners in the world. Training
constantly, Louis was pushed past his limits by Pete to achieve monumental heights in his running
career. Pete herded him out to train every day and rode his bicycle behind him, whacking him with a

Effects Of Parent Child Dynamics On Emotional Development
Effects of Parent Child Dynamics on Emotional Development in Infants
Jovana Capric
Florida Atlantic University
Abstract
Misinformation and lack of education often lead parents into uncertainty about how to raise their child
to be the best person they can be. When raising children, the connection and relationship that is shared
between parents and child are significant. Multiple studies and research proves that different
engagements and experiences such as affection, discipline techniques and parenting styles all can have
positive or negative effects on a child and therefore, have critical consequences in development. Some
consequences include high or low acceptance ratings from the infants as well as impacts on social and
emotional development.
Effects of Parent Child Dynamics on Emotional Development in Infants
Parent child relations have been a topic of much review within psychology research due to the effects
on development and the implications it has on the child and family dynamics. Today, family and
parenting are in a great state of uncertainty and flux due to the constant re defining of what parenting
really is and how it is most effective (Lunkenheimer Leerkes, 2015). Often it becomes difficult to keep
up with the many forms of parenting and discipline styles while effectively maintaining a positive
parent child relationship. With the abundance of research and studies that have been conducted on this
topic we now have a better

The Nature Of Our Behavior
The Nature of our Behavior
The genes that make up the human body determine our behavior, even before we are born. Yet the way
we are raised may also have an impact on the way we behave, but how much does nature or nurture
determine our personality of who we are during the developing as children. Thomas B. Lewis, M.D.
once said While genes are pivotal in establishing some aspects of emotionality, experience plays a
central role in turning genes on and off. DNA is not the heart s destiny; the genetic lottery may
determine the cards in your deck, but experience deals the hand you can play. Scientists have proven,
for example, that good mothering can override a disadvantageous temperament . Since genes make up
the cards we are dealt, we are limited to our genes abilities.
The view that a person s behavior is determined by genetics is called nature, and the view that a
person s behavior is determined by the environment is called nurture. Kendra, Cherry states that the
extreme hereditary position is called nativists (Kendra Cherry). They believe that the basic assumption
is that the characteristics of the human species as a whole are a product of evolution and that
individual differences are due to each person s unique genetic code. Kendra, Cherry says the extreme
view on behaviorism is empiricists. They take the position that all or

Alienation In The Metamorphosis
At the beginning of Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis, Gregor becomes a giant beetle, loses his
abilities as a human, such as his ability to communicate and work. Gregor s transformation explores
the theme of alienation. Through the attitude of people around him and himself, Gregor shows he is
isolated from his body, his mind and his social relationships: he neither connects to society nor his
family. Through Gregor s tragic experience, Kafka is fighting against alienation. He also criticizes the
numbness and apathy in family relationship for creating hopelessness and loneliness. The alienation of
Gregor s own body makes him more like thinking than before. However, the transformation brings
him with loneliness and inner struggle. Once Gregor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The alienation between Gregor and his families enlarges. At the beginning, the mother is worried
about his son. But not long, when the mother goes into Gregor s room, she is scared, screams a lot and
hoarse voice (31). Grete Gregor s sister, shows the most caring and sympathy to her brother. Grete
takes care of her brother because she wants to show her ability as a family member: she is an adult
now and can make contributions to her family. She does not want to be like Gregor; she wants to get
admire from her parents, and get rid of becoming alienation. Gregor thinks he remained intimate with
his sister alone (28). He also thinks about his secret plan, which is sending his sister to study at the
Conservatorium(28). But Grete is the first one who betrays her brother: We must get rid of it (35).
Gregor and Grete are reflecting Jesus s and Judas imagery. Judas betrayed Jesus for money, Grete
betrayed Gregor for the approval from her family. Gregor s father, a retired civil servant, always treats
Gregor badly. He uses apples to hit Gregor(31). One of the apple (stick) in his body as a visible

Summary Of Bonanza Episode Day Of Reckoning
Personal Analysis of Bonanza Episode Day of Reckoning I found in this episode countless
connections to what we have been learning in class in regards to the Native Americans and their
encounters with white men. In this particular episode, I observed examples of hostility between both
the white man and Native Americans. Similar to what we had learned in class about the constant
hostility that was present with many white men and Native Americans due to the white man
essentially taking over the Native American s land. I observed how the Native Americans slowly
became like the white man once he was brought into his home. This again reminded me of what we
had learned in class about how Native Americans were encouraged to take up farming, wear clothes
like white men, chop their long hair off to have it short representing the hair of the white men, cook
and prepare food like the white man and live in a home like the white man. These encouragements and
what the white man may have seen as examples of kindness and hospitality were actually uprooting
the Native Americans from their own culture. This is especially true for Matsou, who feels very
strongly about not taking up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

a connection on an important topic. This emphasis on religion was another topic we discussed in class.
We learned about how the white man s faith was heavily pushed upon the Native American people.
They were encouraged to abandon their own faith and believe solely in what the white man believed
in. This disconnected Native Americans from their culture as they had their own faith that they felt
strongly connected

Separation Anxiety As A Medical Condition
Introduction
A mother leaves the room where her baby becomes heartbroken because she is not there to comfort
him and care for him could this be separation anxiety. Separation Anxiety Disorder is a medical
condition were children usually ranging in ages from 8 months to 14 years of age have distress when
they are away from their parents and/or caregiver. Separation Anxiety can affect a person s life
dramatically by limiting them from engaging in ordinary day to day activities. Children with
separation anxiety disorder may become severely anxious and agitated even when just anticipating
being away from their home or primary caregiver.

Symptoms of children suffering from separation anxiety at home refuse to go to school, refuse to go
on outings, difficulty sleeping alone, and scary dreams about being separated.
Opposing views The number of those suffering from separation anxiety has increased. The disorder
may have primed those who suffer from it to other forms of anxiety. Such as panic disorders which is
a psychiatric disorder in which debilitating anxiety and fear arise frequently and without reasonable
cause and agoraphobia which is Fear of places and situations that might cause panic, helplessness, or
embarrassment (Www2.massgeneral.org 2015). Psychoanalytic theories have different views on
separation anxiety and where it belongs in children development. Some Psychiatrist believes that
separation anxiety is a result from the unconscious conflicts that are internal (Bowlby N.D.). Viewing
it from this point of view the fear of losing a mother by separation is not regarding real danger. Freud
considers the main experience of separation from protecting the mother or caregiver the prototype
situation of anxiety and compares it to generating fear of separation experiences. In his opinion
anxiety originates from two factors: physiological fact begins at the time of birth but then first
traumatic situation is separation from mother/ caregiver. His point of view can be looked at as
behavioral theories. Behavioral theories suggest separation anxiety to be conditioned or learned from

Christian Perspective On Expectancy Violations Theory
Carter Almquist
Communication Theory
Professor McCormick
December 2, 2014
Christian Perspective on Expectancy Violations Theory In this paper there will be a critical analysis of
the Expectancy Violations Theory and views points of a Christian on that theory. Expectancy
Violations Theory is best defined as a way to explain how someone reacts to unexpected behavior of
their friends and peers and the many meanings that people bring to the violation of their personal
space. According to communicationtheory.org, Expectancy violation is a communication theory which
tries to explain the unexpected behaviors of human beings while interacting. The theory is based on
the uncertainty reduction theory where the vagueness on the behaviors of the others is reduced through
interaction (communicationtheory.org). It is another way to measure how happy others interact with
one another. There are proxemics levels of space to measure this physically. The first is personal space
which is 2 4 feet. The next is social distance which is 4 12 feet. The next is public distance which is 12
feet. The truth is that the way Christians should react is the way that Jesus Christ would react.
Christians should be welcoming and not bound by the earthly ways of communicating. Psalms 1:1 6
says,
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor
sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day

The Lord Of The Ring Essay
It takes time for a person to developed, no one knows who they are from the very beginning.
People/characters go through events in their life that changes them for better or for worse. In The Lord
of the Ring by J.R.R Tolkien we encounter many character that shows growth but one character that
develops for the better is Aragorn. The first thing we are told about Aragorn is from Gandalf letter to
Frodo Not all gold glitter which tells the reader to not underestimate him, but when Aragorn is first
introduced in the story, we assume he is just a ranger and nothing more, he doesn t seem like someone
which much help or of use but it turns out that he is actually Isildur heir which makes him the rightful
king of Gondor, and as we later see in the novel one of the biggest help they could of find. Aragorn s
character grows so much from his motivation to protect middle earth, his interaction with the people
around him and finally his acceptance as role of king. The first key characteristic for Aragorn
character would have to be his motivation to protect middle earth form Sauron evil. Throughout the
novel we see how Aragorn motivation encourages him and pushes him to continue on with his mission
and the journey. His first mission was to get Frodo to Mordor to destroy the ring. which he does with
the company of the ring. but even when they get separated Aragorn does not let the journey end. He
knows It can t just end without doing anything so he takes action to complete

Cruel And Unusual Punishment
The cruel and unusual punishment provision is that the law must treat all criminals with dignity even
the most despicable ones. Any sentence that is taking lives instead of rehabilitating is cruel and
unusual and infringes the decency of society. The corrections system helps rehabilitate inmates
through individual or group counseling about the cause of incarceration. They train them with suitable
skills programs, such as how to prepare a job application and to interviews, and the importance of
maintaining a steady employment to support family responsibilities. They help the inmates through
educational programs to achieve a higher education while in prison and to succeed economically and
live a healthier lifestyle outside of prison. The corrections system hopes with new skills incorporated;
they will be able to be more productive. Keeping them engaged with medical and psychiatric
treatment will keep them mentally stable for their reentry into the community. James Gilligan (2012),
a Psychiatry Professor at NewYork University, stated that Two thirds of inmates reoffending within
three years with more violent crimes after leaving prison which means incarceration for punishment
does not work positively. Inflicting punishment on convicts for pay back only makes them more
empowered criminals. Rehabilitation is the only key to reducing crimes because a regenerated person
is more conscious of how their behaviors cause their loved ones and others around them to suffer.

Joan De Agnes A Hero
Heroes come from all backgrounds. They are renowned or unknown, great or minor.
They span across various ages and nationalities and might rise from any situation. What mark them as
incredible individuals, worthy of being called heroes, are the defining qualities that compel them to
rise above the mundane. All heroes require some level of courage and perseverance, as well as the
defining trait of a hero: selflessness.
In history, there have been countless heroes who braved the battlefield and found recognition through
their feats of heroic courage. One of the most notable in Catholic culture is Joan de Arc, the Maid of

President Reagan Signed Into Law A National Security...
On September 17th, 1984 President Reagan signed into law a national security decision directive,
NSDD 145, titled National Policy on Telecommunications and Automated Information System
Security . Even at that time, the government officials understood that computers were susceptible to
interception, unauthorized electronic access, and related form of technical espionage and exploitation.
It was noted, that hostile agencies were extensively hacking into computers, and that terrorist groups
and criminal enterprises had the ability to do the same. The original language in the directive placed
the National Security Agency (NSA) in charge of the security of all computers and networks, and, for
many civil liberations in Congress that went too far. The directive also created a national
Telecommunication and Information Systems Manager to consider all technical matters as well as
develop procedures for implementing the policy. The NSA director was to become that Manager.
Congress had a substantial issue with that because NSA was forbidden from collecting any data on
American citizens, and by charter, its mission was to surveil foreigners. The President s directive was
revised, denying the NSA the National Manager role. It was not until 1987 for Congress to pass a bill,
assigning the National Bureau of Standards (now NIST), under the Department of Commerce,
responsibility for developing standards and guidelines for the security of Federal computer systems,

Complement clauses, or subordinate clauses, are most of the times preceded by a special word called
Complementizer . Words like that, if, and for are used to introduce clauses that function as a
complement of the matrix verb. The choice of the verb in the subordi nate clause is related to these
complementizers. For instance, the complementizers that, if and the Arabic complementizer ʔanna are
used to introduce finite clauses, while for and the Arabic ʔan are, of course, for infinitival ones.
Our focus in this chapter is going to be on the study of each type of these com plementizers in
isolation.
1.2. Finite complementizers
A finite clause contains a conjugated verb, that is a verb marked for tense, person, and number. In
English, finite clauses have an overt subject. (Marguerite Mahler:2004). Whereas, a finite clause in
Arabic is the clause that has a conjugated verb in one of the tenses of Arabic ( present, past, and
future).
It is well known that the main, or the matrix, clause of a complex sentence must be fi nite. While, on
the other hand, the finiteness of the embedded clause is related mainly to the complementizer that
precedes it. Consequently, the clauses that follow the comple mentizers that, if, and the Arabic ʔanna
are finite clauses.
1.2.1. The complementizer that
That is a complementizer used to introduce finite declarative clauses that function as a complement or
subject of the matrix clause.

Ordinary People Participate In The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a terrible event that started January 30, 1933 and ended May 8, 1945. It was
twelve years of torture and suffering that the Jewish people went through. Many people help this
awful event happen like bystanders, perpetrators, and people who was influenced by Nazi ideology.
Our big question is How was the Holocaust humanly possible? How can we explain why ordinary
people participated in the mass murder of millions of innocent men, women, and children?
Bystanders were just helping Hitler by getting amused that he makin Jews do things that would get
people s attention. They were bystanders because they watch the Jews getting humiliated in public.
Some Jews were to do awful things like to clean the streets or to do rude things towards other Jewish
people but the germans that was near by were laughing or enjoying their time. This show that Jews are

The Four Stages In Ovid s Metamorphoses
Pythagoras was a Greek philosopher born in 570 B.C.E. In Ovid s the Metamorphoses, Pythagoras
discusses a variety of beliefs including the four ages of man, autogenesis, and vegetarianism.
The four stages of man as described by Pythagoras states, that the year displays four aspects, passing
through them, in a semblance of our life. Each season represents a different aspect of man. Spring is a
delicate time of year full of new beginnings and hope. Summer is described as powerful, rich, and
expansive. Fall is the time between youth and age. Pythagoras describes winter as hair turning white.
Each and every day we change as people. We are youthful and then after the middle years we decline
as life moves on. In the Ovid, Milon an athlete who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pythagoras had fled Samos because the leaders were tyrants. By ws exiled, but he continued to visit
the gods in thought. He would preach his views to the people. Pythagoras believed that it was a
disgrace to eat meat. His excuse for not eating meat was that the earth provides crops and we should
use these to our advantage and not shed the blood of animals. Pythagoras believes(VOTH) that flesh is
the diet of a beast and that only a beast is not full until it eats the flesh of another. He says that
creatures that want to kill us should be killed, but not eaten. Pythagoras calls eating animals for food
wicked and says those who eat meat not worthy of crops. While although I do feel pity for animals
and cruelty done to them by humans, I am not a vegetarian. It is necessary to eat meat to consume
certain proteins needed by our bodies. The circle of life allows for the predators to eat their prey.
Humans do defy this stereotype due to technology, since there is no animal predator to us. However I
do believe that animals can t be hunted to extinction. There should be boundaries when we use
animals as our food source. As for the agriculture, we do eat crops and meat. This maintains an
equilibrium of our

The Importance Of Drinking Water In Georgia
Water plays a vital role in everyday life, from quenching your thirst on a hot summer day, to being one
of the main ingredient of life in all aspects on earth.
Recently, Georgia has been under a severe water drought. Lake Lanier in Georgia, which is a major
supply of drinking water to its state, and neighboring states Alabama, and Florida; has been at its
lowest in years. Georgia s drought is certainly due to the lack of precipitation; therefore, creating
water levels to decline more rapidly as time progresses. The state has now asked its homeowners to
monitor their water usage, which includes watering lawns, washing cars, and other outside water

Essay on A Film with More than One Connection
In the film District 9 (2009), biopolitics plays a role in in the social segregation of populations, and
through the manipulation of political power based on eugenics and characteristics of living beings.
Although biopolitics is conventionally understood as positive and productive and supposed to be used
as a method to lead to benefits such as in doctrine, discipline, law, and policy, it often leads to racism
and discrimination (Prozorov 191). Although some governments use biopolitics as a way to manage
entire populations, it is not always in the best interest of all the populations. In the film I acknowledge
that biopolitics is used negatively towards the aliens, in order to benefit the humans, and that most

District 6, is another example of how historical fiction is used because in the film it is represented by
district 9. These are only a few examples of historical fiction within the film yet; make the film more
intriguing, and interesting to the viewer than just a history film alone. Rose believes that history is
always altered to the lenses of present time and subjectivity it is perceived (Rose, 216). This leads
many to not pay as much attention to history because they believe that it is only in the perspective of
which the government or teacher wants to them to know, and in fact that is often the case. But
somehow when you tell the viewer that it is a science fiction movie, they are more intrigued by it and
it seems to have a bigger effect on most viewers. Through the historical fiction seen in the film we are
able to understand what really went on in district 6, seeing as it represents district 9, and how
biopolitics ruined the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. In the film the aliens were treated as
scum of the earth, their rights were taken away, and they were not treated as equals to the white
peoples. They were of a different race, skin color, body type and spoke a different language, which
made the white people in the film want nothing to do with them. They removed the aliens

The Hostility Between Gene and Finny in A Separate Peace...
The Hostility Between Gene and Finny in A Separate Peace by John Knowles
Gene feels increasing hostility toward Finny before his fall from the tree. In the novel A SEPARATE
PEACE by John Knowles, the hostility between Gene and Finny increase because of the competition
inside of them both to be better then one another. It is about the increasing competition between Gene
and Finny and the hostility it brings. The hostility finally burst inside Gene and for one instant it takes
over. It makes him do something he will always regret. Gene s increasing hostility towards Finny
finally brings the down fall of their friendship.
Gene s first form of hostility toward Finny was the realization that
Finny could get away with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gene s envy increases to resentment of Finny making him do things he does not want to do. The first
resentment is when Finny manipulates
Gene into jumping out of the tree and into the water. The only reason he resents this is that it was Fine
s fault he was up in the tree. I (Gene) wouldn t have been on that darn limb except for him. I wouldn t
have turned around and so I lost my balance, if he hadn t been there. (25)
Gene blames Finny for him almost falling even though it wasn t really
Finny s fault. Gene is so envious of Finny that he does not want Finny to be one step better then him
for saving his life. He twists the truth to make it seem like it was Finny s fault for him almost falling.
Gene also resents the fact that Finny made up Blitzball around his physical abilities. Finny adapted the
game to his own physical abilities so he could excel at it. It made a game of strength, endurance, and
speed just what Finny s abilities were. Right from the start it was clear that no one had ever been
better adapted to sports than Finny was to Blitzball. (31) Gene is envious of
Finny making up a game that he was going to be naturally good at so, in
Gene s mind, he can be better then him and make him look bad. His last resentment is of Finny tring
to impress him with his athletic abilities. How he does this is when they first find

Dichotomy In The Exorcist
The Exorcist In this essay I will be talking about the symbols and their meanings and dichotomies
found in the exorcist, as well as some elements of horror I found in the film and my own opinion
about the film.
The film was directed by William Friedkin and it is based on the novel The Exorcist from 1971. this
film The Exorcist is about a mother who is an actor and her daughter who unfortunately has been
possessed by the devil himself. It follows them and how the mother is trying to help her and that after
trying everything she gets to priests to perform an exorcism on her and she is then rid of the monster.
Dichotomy is when a seemingly harmless thing is portrayed as the opposite. One dichotomy in the
film is Regan. Regan is a dichotomy because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for why the effects were like that I have a feeling it is because they were made quite a while back
so that our knowledge of special effects and our ability to make effects has grown greatly. As for the
long and boring scenes that is probably because in the 1970s they were practicing with new styles of
filming. At the point in the film where Karras meets a possessed Regan to judge her level of how
possessed she was and throws holy water at her. Later he said it was only tap water, this confused me
because I do not get why the devil would react in way that seemed like he was harmed by the water
towards the tap water. A reason that could have been is because according to Damien Karras, the
demon s reaction to the tap water could mean that the possession is not genuine. This would therefore
weaken his case for an exorcism. So, it could be that the demon was deliberately reacting to the tap
water so Karras would not get permission to perform the exorcism. Overall I thought that the film was
pretty well acted and even though the effects were bad I was still really

Analysis Of The Speech Praise Of Eros On Plato Symposium

Introduction to Philosophy 1113
Professor Dr. Sarah Woolvine

Tittle:
Analysis of Speeches Given in Praise of Eros on Plato Symposium
Among the ancient Greek philosophers, Plato was one of the greatest. Known for his remarkable
philosophical works, Plato was born into a very prominent Athenian family, and he was expected to
have a proliferous political career, but the political scene at that time made Plato devote himself
instead to his philosophical inquiry, and teaching others about it. His passion for knowledge was
limitless. He founded the Academy around 385 B.C., a very important educational institution that has
served as prototype of the Western University System until today.
Plato was one the Socrates greatest admirers. Socrates was a brilliant Greek philosopher at that time,
whose philosophical works stand at the foundation of modern Western philosophy. Unfortunately, he
never recorded his works. Nevertheless, most of our current knowledge about Socrates stems from
Plato s work. We find Plato s thought mostly in the form of fictional dialogues, a very common
literary style in ancient Greece. Most of these dialogues have Socrates as the protagonist, and primary
interlocutor. Plato uses Socrates as a mouthpiece of his own views, and philosophical ideals.
Undoubtedly, one of the most known Plato s dialogues was Symposium. The word symposium itself
means drinking together, or in other words, a drinking party

Active Age Of Pre K

Kindergarten to Second Grade. For my project, I chose the aware and active age of Pre K. This
specific classroom held a variety of ages preparing for kindergarten, starting at five to six years old,
with 14 children. While I was observing, the main teacher taught many of the centers, and lessons,
although there was another supervisor that would stop in and take one student who had trouble staying
focused and remaining calm. This advisor would stop in once every few hours to give this child a
quick break, and reminded him of appropriate behavior. After my interview with the professional, the
qualifications required for this location include Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, required
by law. The teacher who lead this classroom of pre kindergarteners attended the University of
Northern Iowa. Most of the children in this classroom were around the age of six, one student who
was the youngest turned six the day school started, and most celebrate their half birthdays during
winter time. The events taking place during my observation covered a wide variety of subjects.
Starting from rest time at 1 o clock, readers workshop and read aloud, independent reading, recess,
movement and handwriting, writing, read aloud, to dismissal time around 3:30 p.m. Near the door,

Reasoning for Keeping Physical Education in the Curriculum
Dear Mr Vaughan
I am writing in accordance to the letter you sent out about abolishing Physical Education from your
school s curriculum. I wish to express my reasoning and justifications for Physical Education to be
included.
My main issue is with your statement that PE should be abolished because it has little educational
significance. I could not disagree more, it has more significance, as it doesn t go in pursuit of
knowledge per say, it aims to achieve: An improvement in perceptual knowledge of everyday
surroundings, this helps to give students a greater ability to respond to situations in appropriate way; It
also helps the students to focus, if they are in a game situation, they will focus on what they re doing
in order to respond ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will learn how to compete with themselves and others. This, alongside a degree of self
improvement can be powerful life skills that could prove very useful in their future careers. Other
skills that PE can offer an assistance with are: team building and leadership skills that will also
provoke the awareness of the people around you and make the students alert to how the peers around
them work and give them guidance and support on how to improve or overcome some problems or
obstacles they may encounter, be this within PE, other lessons, and everyday life.
I feel strongly about the inclusion of PE as it can completely change the attitudes of students for a
more positive point of view on many subjects. It has many more positive implications on students than
it does negatives, your students will have a break from the typical classroom environment and get a
break from just sitting in class and having to swallow a large intake of information which, can be
difficult for some students. Learning becomes practical and more student oriented which can involve
those students who learn in: kinaesthetic, auditory, and visual ways. The students who find sitting and
having to read and make notes difficult have ample opportunity to excel in Physical Education, as they
have a chance to learn in their preferred way and gain self esteem and confidence to try more

Why People Fail At Weight Loss
Losing weight is a struggle. So many of us are overweight and look to all sorts of weight loss methods
in order to lose the extra pounds. Still, the vast majority of people on diets fail at losing that weight.
More often than not, they even gain it all back, plus more! What makes us fail so often? Even people
who are normally so responsible and motivated tend to fail at this endeavor. In order to be motivated
to do something and see it through to the end, there needs to be a balance between work put in, and the
reward you get from that work. The main reason that most people fail at weight loss is because the
hard work usually vastly outweighs the outcome. You could eat right and exercise for weeks and only

I feel like I cannot stop eating. I have lost ALMOST 30 pounds and I am slowly starting to put it back
on again. I have been feeling kinda bad about myself lately, and with that comes comforting myself
with food. I know that if I get to the gym, that will help, but mentally, I have fallen off the weight loss
wagon really hard and need to pull myself back up on it again. It s easier said than done. I was
thinking about doing a fast today and just re centering myself again. Saying some prayers and reading
my Bible to get my head back in the game. I give all the glory to God for my loss so far, because
without Him, I couldn t do this. I honestly do not have the will power. Why does food hold such
power over some of us? I look at people on television or even people out in public that are thin. I am
insanely jealous. What must that be like to be thin? I ve never known what it feels like. What must it
be like to not let your life revolve around food? To not always think about what can I eat next? or I
should invite a friend to dinner so I can eat something yummy. My mindset is just all wrong and I don
t know how to change that. I don t know why food comforts me, but it does. It makes me feel good for
about two minutes. I get lost in the flavors and the feeling of endless chewing. Usually when I eat a
high fat meal, I feel like crap when it s all done. Why can t I remember that feeling? Why doesn t that
sit with me in my mind? I hate the way I look. My body disgusts me. I don t understand how my
husband can want me, but he does. I m totally blessed by him. He thinks I m the most beautiful

Biphasic cuirass ventilation is a method of external ventilation that is considered to be a modern
improvement of the iron lung. With this type of negative pressure ventilation it is possible for the
patient to acquire a large amount of tidal volume as well as a high respiratory rate. Most of the more
common methods of ventilation are determined by the elastic recoil of the chest which, in return,
restricts the respiratory rate. Complications, such as infections, that are usually associated with the
invasive method of ventilation can be avoided when using this non invasive ventilation technique.
Instead of participating with one or the other, biphasic cuirass ventilation has the capability to utilize
both phases of respiration, the expiratory and inspiratory phases.
Sometimes when a patient is on the more common form of mechanical ventilation for an extended
time or if the patient has undergone respiratory failure, their respiratory muscles have a tendency to
become weak. With the use of this biphasic cuirass ventilation method they can have the opportunity
to build and strengthen those muscles which, in return, can allow them to be weaned from the
ventilator

  • 2. Comparing Pygmalion And The Makeover, By George Bernard Shaw No matter if a person is a reader of Pygmalion, written by George Bernard Shaw, or a viewer of The Makeover, it is understood both Eliza Doolittle and Elliot Doolittle are in need of a transformation. Throughout both the book and film, both characters were going through drastic changes in life. In the play, Pygmalion, Eliza Doolittle, living in London England, was considered an illiterate, poor girl. Eliza is a girl that stands at a flower shop and sells flowers. Heavy summer rain had settled into London, and all the people were seeking shelter. Henry Higgins along with Colonel Pickering and Freddy were among those taking shelter that very day. Freddy s mother had told him to take a taxi home. Opening his umbrella, Freddy ran into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hannah is competing against a local weather man for a Congress position. As the film continues, Hannah s outcome is not so great; she loses to the local weather man. Hannah Higgins is compared to Henry Higgins, in Pygmalion, because she is grumpy most of the time. After her recent loss, Hannah and Colleen Pickering were back at the office reviewing. Elliot Doolittle, the local beer distributor, walked by. He was speaking in a language nobody could understand. Hannah walked up to him telling him his speaking was not correct. He was extremely offended by her comment and walked away. The local weather man, competing for the role, never got the weather right, so the day he made his speech was not any different. He did not know of any thunderstorms in the area, so he died from a lightning strike. Hannah Higgins was, then, eligible to be in the race again. People would not vote for her, though, so she had to find some way to win the race. Her perfect solution was to get Elliot Doolittle in the race. The only problem with him was he was not well dressed and could not speak fluently. Hannah had also offended him earlier, so the chances of him doing this favor for her was not ... • 3. Tuskegee Ethical Dilemmas 4. The Tuskegee Study was a classic example of ethics abuse in research. What were three wrongs committed in that study? The first ethical violation surrounds confidentiality. According to research, confidentiality is not an issue when observing large groups, where individual responses or actions are not considered or when participants identifiable information is not involved. Even in cases where there are large groups being assessed it is up to the researcher to use good judgment in making decisions regarding what information should be shared (Explorable, 2018). In the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment, individual responses/ reactions were taken into consideration and each participant s identifiable information was used. Thus, the participants ... • 4. An Oedipal Relationship in Beneix s Diva Essay The relationship between Jules and Cynthia Hawkins in Jean Jacques Beneix s Diva is uniquely complex and vaguely oedipal. For Jules, the diva represents musical perfection, and he is completely in love with her. However, her relationship to him is somewhat maternal. Jules s obsession with Cynthia Hawkins is rather unhealthy, and he violates her purity. However, her maternal attitude towards him allows for reconciliation despite his mistakes. From the very beginning of the movie, the voice of Cynthia Hawkins pervades everything. In fact, the opening title sequence tricks the viewer into thinking her voice is non diegetic sound, mere background music for the on screen occurrences. However, when Jules turns off his tape deck, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alba can instantly detect his infatuation with the diva from the way he longingly stares at the lifelike portrait of Cynthia, with her stolen dress draped over it almost as if the painting is wearing the gown. Jules brings the diva s dress to a black prostitute, and has her wear the gown, trying to delude himself into the illusion that he is with Cynthia Hawkins. Jules displays many of the characteristics of a young lover. He brings flowers to Cynthia, and is content to hear the sound of her voice or be connected to her in any way. When Jules and Cynthia meet for their walk, he holds her umbrella over her head while they meander through the park. Also typical of an adolescent lover afraid to make a first move, Jules moves closer and closer to her, slowly and hesitantly putting his hand on her shoulder, draping his arm around her. Despite his obvious romantic desires for Cynthia Hawkins, there are also some aspects of a maternal relationship. Jules cuddles her gown while listening to her sing, seeking motherly comfort in the sound of her music. Cynthia is comforted by her young fan. Although no one ever listens to her rehearse, she allows Jules to stay and listen. It s strange, but I think I d like you to be there while I m working, she tells him. Despite the way that Jules violates her in almost every way possible, Cynthia forgives him; her reasons for this stem from the kind of unconditional love that mothers have for their children. • 5. Bob s Monologue He was young, vibrant and intelligent. A son any parent would be proud of, he excelled at most everything he did. A senior in high school, 2 short months away from graduation, Bo was very involved with his youth group at church. He was also active actor in the high school and local theater, president of the Thespian Troupe and a member of the Varsity Choir. Bo met no strangers. He was always smiling, had hugs for everyone and always said I love you to anyone who had ever been a friend. His energy and charisma were contagious. March 17, 2017 was no different. It was a normal school day for Bo. At lunch he was laughing and roughhousing with the school resource officer. Later that day, he and his best friend Belle made plans for their upcoming performance at senior night. After school that day, Bo went home and was on the phone with his girlfriend when he fatally shot himself in the chest. I don t believe Bo knew earlier in the day that it would be his last. He and his girlfriend were having relationship problems and, in an instant, Bo decided to impulsively end his life. What if things had been different? What if there was no gun in the house? What if Bo s ability to act on that impulsive thought at that moment hadn t been readily accessible? • 6. The De Goya Y Lucientes He is considered the most important artist in Spain during the late 18th and early 19th century and was one of the most prominent and successful painters in Europe. Francisco Jose de Goya y Lucientes was a romantic painter and printmaker whose style changed drastically throughout his life; he is considered the last of the Old Masters and the first of the moderns. His style fits into the category of Romanticism, which is most apparent in his paintings of the Spanish Royal family after becoming First Painter to the King of Spain in 1786. Six years later, he suffered an awful illness which ultimately left him deaf and shaped his future work. After Napoleon Bonaparte rose to prominence during the French Revolution, Spain was invaded due to its political and strategic importance to the French. Goya was able to capture the horrors he saw in his anti war works produced in paintings and with intaglio prints which he didn t make public. The throne of Spain was taken by Joseph Bonaparte, Napoleon s brother, who was backed by a large French military force. After the political situation in Spain normalized and rule was returned to it s rightful heir, Goya returned to painting commissioned portraits. With ailing health, he moved to a country home where he completed the haunting Black Paintings which were painted directly to his walls. Due to his health, he received permission from King Ferdinand IV for an indefinite leave of absence and relocates to Paris. He completes a small number of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Gatorade Lab Report Background The growth and survival of a plant depends on the reactions that occur internally called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a reaction that captures the sun s energy and converts it, water, and carbon dioxide into glucose, with a byproduct of oxygen. Glucose is a sugar that provides energy to allow for a plant to grow and live. This experiment is to test how photosynthesis can be sped up with a home solution. The variable being changed in this experiment is the solution that the plant is being given. In this instance, some of the plants will be given Gatorade, rather than water. The question being asked is, How well will a solution found in the home affect plant growth? My hypothesis is that, if a plant is given Gatorade instead of water, then it will grow more quickly than if the plant is just given water. This is because of the components of Gatorade. Gatorade contains water, a key component of plant growth. But, because Gatorade contains various vitamins, sugars, and electrolytes, the plant should already be supplied with some of the products of photosynthesis, so the plant should produce sugars at a normal rate, plus have the additional bonus from the Gatorade. Procedure Four cups of equal size were filled with one cup of garden soil. Lima beans were planted at an equal depth (one inch as instructed on the bag). Every day, for 33 days, each plant received one half tablespoon of the specified liquid. Beans one and two got one half tablespoon of water each, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Despite their differences, Pete found the need to defend his brother as he marched into the principal s office as he so desperately wanted to see him onto the right path and not the downward spiral he had been heading down. If Louie were recognized for doing something right, Pete argued, he d turn his life around (13). Growing up, no one was completely sure on whether or not Louis would amount to anything, but with the help of Pete he became one of the greatest runners in the world. Training constantly, Louis was pushed past his limits by Pete to achieve monumental heights in his running career. Pete herded him out to train every day and rode his bicycle behind him, whacking him with a stick. Louie dragged his feet, belly ached, and quit at the first sign of fatigue. • 9. Effects Of Parent Child Dynamics On Emotional Development Effects of Parent Child Dynamics on Emotional Development in Infants Jovana Capric Florida Atlantic University Abstract Misinformation and lack of education often lead parents into uncertainty about how to raise their child to be the best person they can be. When raising children, the connection and relationship that is shared between parents and child are significant. Multiple studies and research proves that different engagements and experiences such as affection, discipline techniques and parenting styles all can have positive or negative effects on a child and therefore, have critical consequences in development. Some consequences include high or low acceptance ratings from the infants as well as impacts on social and emotional development. Effects of Parent Child Dynamics on Emotional Development in Infants Parent child relations have been a topic of much review within psychology research due to the effects on development and the implications it has on the child and family dynamics. Today, family and parenting are in a great state of uncertainty and flux due to the constant re defining of what parenting really is and how it is most effective (Lunkenheimer Leerkes, 2015). Often it becomes difficult to keep up with the many forms of parenting and discipline styles while effectively maintaining a positive parent child relationship. • 10. The Nature Of Our Behavior The Nature of our Behavior The genes that make up the human body determine our behavior, even before we are born. Yet the way we are raised may also have an impact on the way we behave, but how much does nature or nurture determine our personality of who we are during the developing as children. Thomas B. Lewis, M.D. once said While genes are pivotal in establishing some aspects of emotionality, experience plays a central role in turning genes on and off. DNA is not the heart s destiny; the genetic lottery may determine the cards in your deck, but experience deals the hand you can play. Scientists have proven, for example, that good mothering can override a disadvantageous temperament . Since genes make up the cards we are dealt, we are limited to our genes abilities. The view that a person s behavior is determined by genetics is called nature, and the view that a person s behavior is determined by the environment is called nurture. Kendra, Cherry states that the extreme hereditary position is called nativists (Kendra Cherry). They believe that the basic assumption is that the characteristics of the human species as a whole are a product of evolution and that individual differences are due to each person s unique genetic code. Kendra, Cherry says the extreme view on behaviorism is empiricists. They take the position that all or Roberts 1 most behaviors and characteristics result from learning (Kendra Cherry). • 12. Summary Of Bonanza Episode Day Of Reckoning Personal Analysis of Bonanza Episode Day of Reckoning I found in this episode countless connections to what we have been learning in class in regards to the Native Americans and their encounters with white men. In this particular episode, I observed examples of hostility between both the white man and Native Americans. Similar to what we had learned in class about the constant hostility that was present with many white men and Native Americans due to the white man essentially taking over the Native American s land. I observed how the Native Americans slowly became like the white man once he was brought into his home. This again reminded me of what we had learned in class about how Native Americans were encouraged to take up farming, wear clothes like white men, chop their long hair off to have it short representing the hair of the white men, cook and prepare food like the white man and live in a home like the white man. These encouragements and what the white man may have seen as examples of kindness and hospitality were actually uprooting the Native Americans from their own culture. Freud considers the main experience of separation from protecting the mother or caregiver the prototype situation of anxiety and compares it to generating fear of separation experiences. In his opinion anxiety originates from two factors: physiological fact begins at the time of birth but then first traumatic situation is separation from mother/ caregiver. • 15. Christian Perspective On Expectancy Violations Theory Carter Almquist Communication Theory Professor McCormick December 2, 2014 Christian Perspective on Expectancy Violations Theory In this paper there will be a critical analysis of the Expectancy Violations Theory and views points of a Christian on that theory. Expectancy Violations Theory is best defined as a way to explain how someone reacts to unexpected behavior of their friends and peers and the many meanings that people bring to the violation of their personal space. According to communicationtheory.org, Expectancy violation is a communication theory which tries to explain the unexpected behaviors of human beings while interacting. The theory is based on the uncertainty reduction theory where the vagueness on the behaviors of the others is reduced through interaction (communicationtheory.org). It is another way to measure how happy others interact with one another. There are proxemics levels of space to measure this physically. The first is personal space which is 2 4 feet. The next is social distance which is 4 12 feet. The next is public distance which is 12 feet. The truth is that the way Christians should react is the way that Jesus Christ would react. Christians should be welcoming and not bound by the earthly ways of communicating. • 17. Cruel And Unusual Punishment The cruel and unusual punishment provision is that the law must treat all criminals with dignity even the most despicable ones. Any sentence that is taking lives instead of rehabilitating is cruel and unusual and infringes the decency of society. The corrections system helps rehabilitate inmates through individual or group counseling about the cause of incarceration. They train them with suitable skills programs, such as how to prepare a job application and to interviews, and the importance of maintaining a steady employment to support family responsibilities. They help the inmates through educational programs to achieve a higher education while in prison and to succeed economically and live a healthier lifestyle outside of prison. The corrections system hopes with new skills incorporated; they will be able to be more productive. Keeping them engaged with medical and psychiatric treatment will keep them mentally stable for their reentry into the community. James Gilligan (2012), a Psychiatry Professor at NewYork University, stated that Two thirds of inmates reoffending within three years with more violent crimes after leaving prison which means incarceration for punishment does not work positively. Inflicting punishment on convicts for pay back only makes them more empowered criminals. Rehabilitation is the only key to reducing crimes because a regenerated person is more conscious of how their behaviors cause their loved ones and others around them to suffer. Awareness ... On September 17th, 1984 President Reagan signed into law a national security decision directive, NSDD 145, titled National Policy on Telecommunications and Automated Information System Security . Even at that time, the government officials understood that computers were susceptible to interception, unauthorized electronic access, and related form of technical espionage and exploitation. It was noted, that hostile agencies were extensively hacking into computers, and that terrorist groups and criminal enterprises had the ability to do the same. The original language in the directive placed the National Security Agency (NSA) in charge of the security of all computers and networks, and, for many civil liberations in Congress that went too far. The directive also created a national Telecommunication and Information Systems Manager to consider all technical matters as well as develop procedures for implementing the policy. The NSA director was to become that Manager. Congress had a substantial issue with that because NSA was forbidden from collecting any data on American citizens, and by charter, its mission was to surveil foreigners. The President s directive was revised, denying the NSA the National Manager role. Definition of Complementizers Complement clauses, or subordinate clauses, are most of the times preceded by a special word called Complementizer . Words like that, if, and for are used to introduce clauses that function as a complement of the matrix verb. The choice of the verb in the subordi nate clause is related to these complementizers. For instance, the complementizers that, if and the Arabic complementizer ʔanna are used to introduce finite clauses, while for and the Arabic ʔan are, of course, for infinitival ones. Our focus in this chapter is going to be on the study of each type of these com plementizers in isolation. 1.2. Finite complementizers A finite clause contains a conjugated verb, that is a verb marked for tense, person, and number. In English, finite clauses have an overt subject. (Marguerite Mahler:2004). Whereas, a finite clause in Arabic is the clause that has a conjugated verb in one of the tenses of Arabic ( present, past, and future). It is well known that the main, or the matrix, clause of a complex sentence must be fi nite. While, on the other hand, the finiteness of the embedded clause is related mainly to the complementizer that precedes it. Consequently, the clauses that follow the comple mentizers that, if, and the Arabic ʔanna are finite clauses. 1.2.1. At the point in the film where Karras meets a possessed Regan to judge her level of how possessed she was and throws holy water at her. Later he said it was only tap water, this confused me because I do not get why the devil would react in way that seemed like he was harmed by the water towards the tap water. A reason that could have been is because according to Damien Karras, the demon s reaction to the tap water could mean that the possession is not genuine. Tittle: Analysis of Speeches Given in Praise of Eros on Plato Symposium Among the ancient Greek philosophers, Plato was one of the greatest. Known for his remarkable philosophical works, Plato was born into a very prominent Athenian family, and he was expected to have a proliferous political career, but the political scene at that time made Plato devote himself instead to his philosophical inquiry, and teaching others about it. His passion for knowledge was limitless. He founded the Academy around 385 B.C., a very important educational institution that has served as prototype of the Western University System until today. Plato was one the Socrates greatest admirers. Socrates was a brilliant Greek philosopher at that time, whose philosophical works stand at the foundation of modern Western philosophy. Unfortunately, he never recorded his works. Nevertheless, most of our current knowledge about Socrates stems from Plato s work. We find Plato s thought mostly in the form of fictional dialogues, a very common literary style in ancient Greece. Most of these dialogues have Socrates as the protagonist, and primary interlocutor. Still, the vast majority of people on diets fail at losing that weight. More often than not, they even gain it all back, plus more! What makes us fail so often? Even people who are normally so responsible and motivated tend to fail at this endeavor. In order to be motivated to do something and see it through to the end, there needs to be a balance between work put in, and the reward you get from that work. I have been feeling kinda bad about myself lately, and with that comes comforting myself with food. I know that if I get to the gym, that will help, but mentally, I have fallen off the weight loss wagon really hard and need to pull myself back up on it again. It s easier said than done. I was thinking about doing a fast today and just re centering myself again. Saying some prayers and reading my Bible to get my head back in the game. I give all the glory to God for my loss so far, because without Him, I couldn t do this. I honestly do not have the will power. Why does food hold such power over some of us? I look at people on television or even people out in public that are thin. I am insanely jealous. What must that be like to be thin? I ve never known what it feels like. What must it be like to not let your life revolve around food? To not always think about what can I eat next? or I should invite a friend to dinner so I can eat something yummy. My mindset is just all wrong and I don t know how to change that. I don t know why food comforts me, but it does. It makes me feel good for about two minutes. I get lost in the flavors and the feeling of endless chewing. Usually when I eat a high fat meal, I feel like crap when it s all done. Why can t I remember that feeling? Why doesn t that sit with me in my mind? I hate the way I look. My body disgusts me. I don t understand how my husband can want me, but he does. I m totally blessed by him. He thinks I m the most beautiful woman in the world. I get depressed really easily, and I think it s because I ve been eating so badly. Have you ever noticed that when your diet gets bad, your mentality takes a huge downfall? I do. I m going grocery shopping today and my goal is to buy everything healthy. Lots of fruits and veggies and chicken. I think another problem is that I m getting bored with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With this type of negative pressure ventilation it is possible for the patient to acquire a large amount of tidal volume as well as a high respiratory rate. Most of the more common methods of ventilation are determined by the elastic recoil of the chest which, in return, restricts the respiratory rate. Complications, such as infections, that are usually associated with the invasive method of ventilation can be avoided when using this non invasive ventilation technique. Instead of participating with one or the other, biphasic cuirass ventilation has the capability to utilize both phases of respiration, the expiratory and inspiratory phases. Sometimes when a patient is on the more common form of mechanical ventilation for an extended time or if the patient has undergone respiratory failure, their respiratory muscles have a tendency to become weak. With the use of this biphasic cuirass ventilation method they can have the opportunity to build and strengthen those muscles which, in return, can allow them to be weaned from the ventilator ...
