Central And South America Similarities
Although central and south America seem the same they are indeed very different. Central America
has more indigenous roots while south America has more European roots. Cultural practices are vastly
different. The geography difference is huge; they are two whole different continents. These are some
points that proof just how unlike the two continents are. Central American people have more
indigenous roots as comparison to south American people who have more European roots. There is a
language known as Portuguese that is widely spoken only in south America in brazil from European
settlers, which the country adopted. Central America has the most indigenous tribes residing as
comparison to south America. For example, like Guatemala proofing they

Yu: Factors Affecting Individuals to Adopt Mobile Banking
FACTORS AFFECTING INDIVIDUALS TO ADOPT MOBILE BANKING: EMPIRICAL
EVIDENCE FROM THE UTAUT MODEL
Chian Son Yu Department of Information Technology and Management Shih Chien University # 70,
DaZhi Street, Taipei, Taiwan csyu@mail.usc.edu.tw
ABSTRACT Fast advances in the wireless technology and the intensive penetration of cell phones
have motivated banks to spend large budget on building mobile banking systems, but the adoption rate
of mobile banking is still underused than expected. Therefore, research to enrich current knowledge
about what affects individuals to use mobile banking is required. Consequently, this study employs the

[2011] pointed out that main customer segments of mobile and Internet banking were not necessarily
the same, which might explain why Sadi et al. [2010] distinguished mobile commerce from other
electronic commerce.

Journal of Electronic Commerce Research, VOL 13, NO 2, 2012
Therefore, compared to huge online banking studies and relative few research available to help banks
understand the adoption of mobile banking [Suoranta Mattila 2003; Laukkanen Pasanen 2008; Puschel
et al. 2010], more studies to investigate what influences people to adopt mobile banking are necessary
and demanded. Given that the chance of success in introducing a new product or service is highly
related to the depth of understanding of what influences consumers to adopt this new product or
service, this study employed the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) with
age and gender as moderating effects to elaborately investigate what affecting individuals to adopt
mobile banking. The findings culled from this research can help banks execute intricate marketing
campaigns and customize service options to cater to specific customer segments in the context of
electronic banking. 2. Literature Review Literature reveals that abundant research on electronic
banking has focused on Internet banking (also called online banking), whereas research focusing on
mobile banking is relative little and receives underrated attention [Suorantia Mattila 2004; Laukkanen

Human Distribution Patterns Of Acacia Saligna
Abstract
Distribution patterns of Acacia saligna are quite diverse in South Africa especially taking under
consideration that they do not have immediate threats that inhibit their spread. However, this species
occurs in very different environmental gradients, as it can occur from a wet habitat/area to a bare rock
surface that is a very dry habitat. Due to such observations for the distribution of this species a
question is imposed in this paper as to how do traits vary along environmental gradients? Two
phenotypic traits/characteristics are investigated, Specific Leaf Area (SLA) and wood density. SLA
was calculated by adding the total sum of all the leaf area per individual and dividing that with the
total sum of all the leaf dry mass per individual. SLA = Total leaf area/ Dry leaf mass, SLA unit g/cm².
The highest value for SLA is at the dry site, intermediate in wet site and lowest in the ultra dry site.
The wood density for branch and stem samples was calculated using the latest dry mass value/
volume. Wood density unit measure is g/cm³. The stem wood density was highest at the ultra dry site,
followed by wet site and then the dry site. Branch wood density was highest at the dry site,
intermediate at ultra dry site and lowest at the wet site.
Introduction

of south west Australia and is widely naturalized in Mediterranean type ecosystems throughout the

I was happy when I saw them playing it. they played the four movements. The first one which was the
Adagio Allegro, reminded me with Beethoven his 9th symphony. The opening of this movement was
hard and dynamic of it is loud at the beginning, but then is getting softer with the cello and violins. It
tempo of it is fast as well; it feels like a darkness with the loud start at the beginning. The end of it was
pretty by the cords, it is a nice piece. The second movement Andante opened by the violin. It is fast a
little bit and softer than the first movement. It has repetition but different sounds and different

French Resistance To The Holocaust
The Holocaust happened during World War ll and was a bad time for anyone who was injured during
it. From the people in the concentration camps to all the people who were involved in helping stop the
acts from happening. This is such an important event in the history in the world because it is the prime
example of an attempt at genocide. With around six million people dieing within twelve years.
Although there were some groups trying to bring the Holocaust to an end an example is the French
Resistance groups. The term French Resistance is a term used for multiple groups that were anti Nazi.
Although there were many different groups all of the groups took orders from the Special Operations
Executive. Eventually the groups got in such good order

Lance Armstrong Essay
Whoosh! was the sound of the wind blowing into his face as he raced through the mountain s
monstrous decent. As he raced through the Pyrenees, he thought about everything that had occurred in
the past couple of years of his life. He felt his heart pounding as he pedaled through the dirt and rocks.
Cycling is a tough sport that only certain athletes can endure. The long and painful climbs up a 2,000
foot hill are not the easiest things to do, but certain athletes have done well enough to call themselves
champions of the sport. Lance Armstrong has succeeded so many times in this strenuous sport, that he
has earned his title as the greatest cyclist. Lance was born on September 18, 1971 in a tiny suburb of

Lord Of The Flies Innocence Character Analysis
March from Innocence The author Lyman Abbott once said, Every life is a march from innocence,
through temptations, to virtue or vice (qtd. in Brainy Quote). This march, as Abbott puts it, is
maturation. Inevitably, everyone must experience these phases, ending either in, the iconic, good or
evil. The novel, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, examines these very steps. More specifically,
Golding displays through the character Ralph; the phases of psychological maturity. Ralph throughout
his experiences on the island will progress and digress in maturity. Ralph will begin as a carefree,
innocent child happy to be away from constraints of society. However, through certain events, Ralph
will grow to become a leader and choose to stay morally good, while the boys around him digress in
evil. More specifically, events that illustrate Ralphs, responsibility, assertiveness, honesty, detachment,
and understanding lead to his complete maturation. Stranded on an island with no supervision, Ralph
does what any child would do, he stood on his head and grinned (Golding 8). Ralph s immaturity is
marked by this reaction of being without adult supervision. Like any child, he finds pleasure in doing
what he wants and strips his clothes and plays around. Though Ralph displays childlike attributes now,
he will experience steps that begin his maturation process. The first step Ralph experiences is
responsibility. An example; when the boys first crash on the island and everyone strays,

Virgin Atlantic Airline Current Status
Virgin Atlantic Airline Current Status Today Virgin Atlantic finds itself in a year of change. With a
new CEO at the helm, new aircraft arriving in the fall of 2014, and a new partnership, major changes
are underway. 2013 saw pay freezes for personnel, eliminating a layer of management, redesign of
food trays, and other cost cutting measures. The trend for 2014 has been to keep tightening the
financial belt and reign in the high cost draining the company s revenue. The implementation of the
new routes with Delta should support the financial turnaround and help make Virgin Atlantic
profitable again. Changes in Virgin Atlantic s operations are already starting. Preparations for the new
flight schedule is in the works. Delta has collocated its Heathrow operations with Virgin Atlantic in
Terminal 3 for all flights to Boston, New York, and Seattle to facilitate transfers between the two
airlines (Virgin Atlantic, 2014). Virgin Atlantic has opened up its Upper Class offering at Heathrow, to
Delta s Business Elite, SkyMiles Diamond and Platinum Medallion members. This also includes
access to the Private Security Channel, London Heathrow Clubhouse and Revivals lounge (Virgin
Atlantic, 2014). October 26, 2014 will be the launch of Virgin Atlantic flights from Heathrow airport

The Long Walk Home And Sociological Perspective
Humans often take pride in their ability to think freely and act independently. However, many actions
that we perform and certain ways we behave in society are often quickly overlooked and not
questioned. We often do not understand why we perform certain tasks or adhere to certain rules.
However, we still paradoxically pride ourselves in our freedom. By analyzing the sociological
perspective, we can understand how much of a role society often plays in our actions and behavior as
individuals in society. Certainly, the sociological perspective can allow us to analyze events in the
movie The Long Walk Home more closely. The sociological perspective can allow us to understand
how the actions of the characters are often chained and their behaviors controlled by society, through
using the theories of social location, social control, and social stratification. The sociological
perspective can also allow us to understand why these characters strangely adhered to these forms of
oppressive control and often resisted change, through using role theory and the sociology of
knowledge. Lastly, the sociological perspective will allow us to understand how actors can break free
of these bindings, through using an interpretive analysis and applying concepts such as freedom,
ecstasy, and bad faith. Overall, the sociological perspective allows us to understand the personalities,
actions, and story of The Long Walk Home through revealing to us how these features were guided
through control,

Straying from the Tradtional Creole Lifestyle in The...
The Creole society demands high moral and a traditional lifestyle from the women in The Awakening,
by Kate Chopin. Edna Pontillier, the main character, enters a rebellious state of mind as she explores
the awakening the other characters influence. The other characters in The Awakening create Edna by
influencing her decisions, independence, and sexual desires throughout the story. Mademoiselle Reisz,
Robert, and Alcee Arobin challenge Edna to fly above the Creole traditions and become more in touch
with her sexuality, and encourage her to be an independent woman while Edna s husband, Leonce,
Madame Ratignolle, and Edna s father conflict with Edna because they want her to be a traditional

Edna s husband, Leonce Pontillier, becomes aware that she is not the woman he married when she
begins to argue with him about her duties as a wife and a mother. He could see plainly that she was
not herself. That is, he could not see that she was becoming herself and daily casting aside that
fictitious self which we assume like a garment with which to appear before the world (Chopin 96).
Leonce acts as a benchmark throughout the novel reminding Edna that she is bound to her family and
makes her feel trapped. He is her reality check. Edna acknowledges that she is a poor mother and wife
since she does not fit in with the traditions of the Creole society. When Edna s father comes to visit, he
is disappointed that Edna is not living up to Leonce s expectations since she is not actually from a
different lifestyle. He mentions that she might just be different than other women and directs Leonce
to be more strict with her saying, Put your foot down good and hard; the only way to manage a wife
(Chopin 119). Edna tries hard to entertain her father during his stay to prove to him that she can live in
the traditional society, though she is happy when he leaves. Edna s father conflicts with her views of
her life which compels her to act more traditional when he visits. Alcee Arobin is the man that all the
women wish they had. He knows how to flatter the women, especially Edna. Arobin

Master Harold And The Boys Character Analysis
In Master Harold and the Boys, Hally s crippled father never appears on stage, instead, the closest
thing to him talking is through the telephone conversations. However, Hally s father still has a huge
impact on the play as his roles in the play include creating tension through the phone conversations
and his relationship with his son also brings about the bond between Hally and the servants. In
addition, he symbolizes the conflict of apartheid in South Africa back then.
One of Hally s father s role in the play is acting as a dramatic device. His telephone conversations
with Hally alters the mood and creates tension in the play. Before the telephone conversation
regarding his dad, the mood of nostalgia was in the air as Hally and Sam recalled the kite flying
memory. However, after Hally has a frustrating phone call regarding his father, the mood immediately
changes with Hally saying, (seething with irritation and frustration) Tell me something I don t know,
Sam. What the hell do you think I was saying to my Mom? (P.34) This quote is where Hally takes out
his anger and irritation by snapping at Sam, and in doing so, creating tension between the characters.

the core of this play by serving as a device to let events unfold and also, he brings focus on

Dracula Influences
Dracula: Influences of the Present and Past
Vampires are not completely fictional. In the late 1890s Bram Stoker takes historical information and
old European folktales to create famous Gothic novels like Dracula; Before writing Dracula, he
studied for eight years stories of vampires. The title of Stoker s story has historical significance to
Vlad Dracul III, a Wallachian ruler who impaled his victims on stakes. Bram Stoker also was
influenced by his lifetime, before the publication of Dracula, Gothic and Epistolary novels were on the
rise consequently why Dracula is classified as both. Stoker s novels show his ideals as well as views
on social and political reforms during the Victorian era. Moreover, the threats of female sexuality
plagued Victorian anxieties, morals were being questioned. At this time, Victorians were believed to
be morally progressing and can now be seen as a more prudish time. During this time book publishers
often altered words that might be inappropriate. Bram Stoker s Dracula establishes the seminal view
of vampires that has been modified throughout the ages to the now idealized vampire.
In Bram Stoker s novel, he creates the first ideal look of a vampire. At the beginning of the story,
Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania to go the Count s castle on business. Jonathan along the way
has strange encounters with townspeople about where he is traveling. Stoker early in the book draws
from our reference of the now traditional vampire and states in

Social Media As A Negative Aspect Of Their Lives
Many people have begun to perceive social media as a negative aspect of their lives. They believe that
they do not get enough face to face interaction and this causes their actual social life to deteriorate.
However, this is a fallacy. Clive Thompson writes, Fewer than 20% of kids send more than 200 texts a
day; 31% send barely 20 or fewer (Thompson Teenagers and social networking it might actually be
good for them ). It is a person s choice to spend the majority of their time using social media. Social
media has many more positives than negatives. A perfect example of this is global communications.
People can speak with relatives, business partners, and friends from around the world. Many others
are capable of using social media to their economic advantage as well. There are many companies
founded through the use of the internet and use social media to self promote these companies. Also,
the internet and specifically, social media is now used as a valuable source of news and many people s
primary way of obtaining recent news. Therefore, although social media may cause less human
interaction it does generally make us more social due to the fact that we can interact with others
globally within minutes and access news in the same fashion. There are many cases of ludicrous
things happening on the internet through social media. Things such as cyber bullying or stalking. Due
to this many people no longer feel safe when they use social media. They are reluctant to post

Gender Differences In Early Adulthood
Human female breast provides essential neonates nutrition and immunity in milk form. The breast
begins to develop during fetal development but the major developmental stages occur after birth i.e.
during puberty, pregnancy, lactation and involution. Till puberty, the breast is indistinguishable
amongst male and female and grows in a similar beat as the rest of the body.
The adult breast is a special sort of apocrine gland and is often described as a modified sweat gland
that produces milk. During puberty, the hormonal status drastically changes mainly because of the
oestrogen impact. Breasts are made up of a branching system of lobules (milk producing glands) and
milk ducts (tiny tubes that transmit the milk from the lobules to the nipple) surrounded by stroma
including fibroblasts, immune cells, adipose tissue, and extracellular matrix (ECM) and overlay the
pectoralis major muscle.

In early ancient times, internal organs cancers were hard to be reported. However, breast cancers were
different since the tumor could be felt through the skin, and in advanced stages, can ulcerate turning
out to be more visible than other cancer forms. On this base, breast cancer is thought to be from the
eldest diseases that described on record.
Around 1600BC, the first breast cancer description was reported in Egypt on the papyrus of Edwin
Smith. Breast cancer is the most prevalent diagnosed malignancy amongst women and is the second
principle source of cancer associated mortality. In accordance with 2002 estimation, there have been
1,151,298 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed, 410,712 deaths ensued by breast cancer, as well as
over 4.4million breast cancer alive case worldwide. Interestingly, breast cancer was more predominant

Sexual Assault And Sexual Assaults Essay
Sexual Assault is one of the most feared topics on campus because of different experiences that people
face on their life. These request is to create a student organization on campus name FASPVA which
stands for Fight Against Sexual Physical or Verbal Assault. College campuses have a high rated
numbers of sexual assault compared to non college campus because of major reasons like parties,
alcohol, fraternities and sororities. Whether it is rape, abused or sexual assault the gender who
encounter these issues are women and they are less likely to report it because of the person who did it
or they are afraid of the consequences of them reporting it or just wondered whether there would be
any justice at all or not. Almost all the sexual assault incidents are men acts but the women are blamed
for it because of the way they dress, act or their actions. Most women who are victims of sexual
assaults don t acknowledge these facts or don t do it on propose. In the reading Fraternities and Rape
on Campus by Yancey Martin and Robert A.Hummer, they argue that Fraternities use their parties and
their use of alcohol and drugs to influence women and to sexually assault them. It s hard to feel or
understand someone else s feelings unless you are the victim. In I want a Twenty Four Hour Truce
reading of Andrea Dworkins, she points out how freedom, male supremacy, the gender inequality and
feminism relates to theses sexual assault and rape on campus. In Beyond Yes or No: Consent as

Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Mary Shelley was best known an English novelist, short story writer,
dramatist, essayist, biographer, and travel writer is best known for her horror novel. At the age of
sixteen Mary ran away and got married to poet Percy Bysshe Shelley who was twenty one but there
was only one problem he was married. She was born on August 30, 1797, in London, England. Mary
Shelley was a reflection of her parents. Her mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, published the classic
manifesto of sexual equality, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman in 1792. Her father, William
Godwin, established his preeminence in radical British political thought with his Enquiry Concerning

They died in the summer of 1796. By the time Mary Shelley was nineteen year old she had written
one of the most famous novels ever published. Embodying one of the central myths of Western
culture, Frankenstein first published in 1818, tells the story of an overreacher who brings to life the
monster who inhabits one s dreams, a tale which still stands as a powerful and enduring example of
the creative imagination. She wrote the novels while facing difficulties series in her life but the worst
was when her half sister, Fanny Imlay committing suicides. And she was overwhelmed when Percy ex
wife committed suicide too. While Mary seemed devoted to her husband, she didn t have the easiest
marriage. Their marriage was riddled with adultery and heartache, including the death of her two
children. By her third pregnancy she gave birth to a son born in 1819, their son was named Percy
Florence, he was the only child to live to adulthood. Mary s life was rocked again by another tragedy
in 1822 when her husband Percy drowned in a boating accident. He was out sailing with a friend in
the Gulf of Spezia. Made a widow at age 24, Mary Shelley worked hard to support herself and her
son. Mary Shelley died of brain cancer on February 1, 1851, at age 53, in London, England. She was

The Legacy Of The Lauren Rogers Museum
The Lauren Rogers Museum is located in Laurel, Mississippi and was built in 1923. One unique
characteristic about this museum is that has the Georgian Revival Style, which means if you were to
cut the museum down the middle in equal halves each side would be identical. While touring the
Lauren Rodgers Museum there were two separate collections that caught my eye. These collections
consisted of the American and European collection. The American collection focuses primarily on
portraiture. In the American Collection I chose a painting by Jean MacLane called The Chintz Chair.
MacLane was born on September 14, 1878 and died on January 23, 1964 in New Canaan,
Connecticut. One of MacLane s first studies was at an Art Institute in Chicago with John Vanderpoel.
MacLane and her husband, artist John C. Johansen (1876 1964) help found the National Foundation of
Portrait Painters in 1912 (Jean 2015). The year of 1912 was considered to be MacLane s biggest year
because she was recognized for many different awards. MacLane depicted the Allied Leaders from
W.W.I., provided the only female subject, Queen Elisabeth of Belgian, and also became an associate
member of the National Academy of Design. The main items that MacLane incorporates into her
portraits are women and their children. In 1931, she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and
Letter (Jean 2015). The picture that I chose from the American Collection by Jean McLane

The Art Cinema As A Mode Of Film Essay
Article Three Author: David Bordwell / Title of Article: The Art Cinema as a Mode of Film Bordwell,
D. (1979). The art cinema as a mode of film practice. Film Criticism, 4(1), 56 64. David Bordwell
wrote his article The Art Cinema as a Mode of Film in an effort to convey the main idea that art
cinema can be considered as a distinct mode of film practice, through its definite historical existence
alongside other cinematic modes, set of formal conventions, and implicit viewing procedures. Rather
than searching for the source of the art, or what drives the art in film, Bordwell compares art cinema to
the classical narrative cinema, and highlights the differences in narrative structure. Bordwell makes
the assumption that it defined itself against the classical narrative mode; especially with the way it
deals with space, time, and the cause and effect link of events. To support this idea, Bordwell
illustrates how art cinema motivates its narratives differently, through two principles: realism and
authorial expressivity. Firstly he proposes the notion that art films reflect realism in their characters,
space, and time. Psychologically complex characters are present in real worlds dealing with true to life
situations. Art cinema is concerned with the characters reaction to these situations, rather than their
action . Thus it bares an element of psychological subjectivity as the characters survey the world they
are in, which aids the realisation of the distress of

Catastrophes and Stress
Ailen Fernandez PSY 102 April 21, 2013 Jones, Jennifer Catastrophes and Stress American Leader
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, An individual has not started living until he can rise above the
narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity (Martin).
Luther King believed that in order for us humans to have a meaningful live we must put aside our
personal problems and care about the problems of humanity as a whole. The earthquake of Oakland,
California in 1989 is a true example of this quote. As the sirens of ambulances roared through the
abolished city thousands of civilians gathered together, taking risks, to help those that were in the
borderline of life and death. Learned helplessness, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the Kelly s admit to survivors guilt based on their own footage it seems like they could have
done more to prevent the tragedy that happen when the other car dumped into the whole. The only
thing that Debbie and Thomas Kelly did to warn upcoming light was to put on their flashing light.
Debbie took out her recording camera and started to record the gap between the highway, meantime a
car was coming and didn t see the gap crashed in it. Instead of recording Debbie and Thomas should
have tried to grab the attention of the drivers so that they wouldn t have fallen through the road gap.
They now experience survivors guilt because they survived not crashing into the road gap when the
others did (Amaldo, 2004). Survivors guilt has been studied in many situations because it is a
psychological disorder that affects individuals that have survived a scarring catastrophe. The
Holocaust is one of these catastrophes that have left survivors with a sense of guilt. A study done by
Gertrude Schneider upon 50 Holocaust survivors demonstrated that some but not all had a sense of
survivors guilt (Schneider, 1975). Fourteen of the interviewed victims admitted that they felt bad for
being passive victims and that they would have preferred to have died honorably (Schneider, 1975).
Others said that there was no way that they could have fought back and prevent them from going
through that horrible experience of being in the camps (Schneider, 1975).

Hmax Model Paper
Final Project: Research about HMAX model
Seok Hee Lee
Abstract In this paper, I investigated some of the models of computational neuroscience used in the
face recognition field. The model to be discussed is HMAX model. The paper contains what HMAX
model is, how it is derived in terms of biological background, and how it is being used for facial
recognition. Also, I simulated the simplified version of the model in MATLAB. The simulation of the
simplified version verified one cell in the highest hierarchy covers the entire retinal space of the given
image. INTRODUCTION First of all, I looked into the paper written by Riesenhuber and how HMAX
model is derived from a biological concept of a visual cortex. It begins with the power of cells found
in macaque inferotemporal cortex (IT). The cells in IT are considered as essential cells for recognizing
an object and IT is the highest area in the ventral visual stream. They are tuned to views of
complicated objects, for instance a face of human. Their response remains almost the same when scale
or position of an object changes, and it is one of the characteristic of these cells. This raises a question:
how can these cells distinguish similar faces? In the other words, this paper talks what mechanism
these cells use to respond differently from the similar inputs. This question is related to the model
proposed by Hubel and Wiesel. In this model, simple cells with neighboring receptive fields feed into
higher hierarchy cell and this

Georgia s Craft Beer Industry
Problem Statement From the end of prohibition in 1933 to the turn of the new millennium, Georgia s
craft beer industry had seen more failure than success. Over a 67 year span, 9 of the 14
microbreweries to operate in the state failed. Was it the cost and availability of big beer and product
loyalty that caused this to happen?
But in 2013, Georgia s craft beer industry took a drastic turn. Microbreweries were opening at an
exponential rate. That year, Creative Loafing, an alternative news weekly, reported eight
microbreweries opening in the city of Atlanta, alone. Georgia had entered into a craft beer boom.
Today, there are 31 microbreweries operating in Georgia, and 24 more in planning, bringing the total
to 55 of these small production breweries. What could have changed to cause an historically failed
industry to boom in such a short period of time?
Millennials.
According to U.S. Census data, Georgia s population of Millennials, defined as those born between
1980 and 2000, significantly increased between 2010 and 2014, the generation growing from 15.3% of
the population in 2010 to 26.61% of the population in 2014. (Pew Research, U.S. Census).
Earlier this year, Forbes reported that the group with the most purchasing power in the United States
had shifted from the Baby Boomers to the Millennials. It is estimated that Millennials in the U.S.
alone will spend around $200 billion annually by 2017.
The positive relationship between the population of Millennials in

Mobile Banking Yu: Factors Affecting Individuals to Adopt Mobile Banking FACTORS AFFECTING INDIVIDUALS TO ADOPT MOBILE BANKING: EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE FROM THE UTAUT MODEL Chian Son Yu Department of Information Technology and Management Shih Chien University # 70, DaZhi Street, Taipei, Taiwan csyu@mail.usc.edu.tw ABSTRACT Fast advances in the wireless technology and the intensive penetration of cell phones have motivated banks to spend large budget on building mobile banking systems, but the adoption rate of mobile banking is still underused than expected. Therefore, research to enrich current knowledge about what affects individuals to use mobile banking is required. Consequently, this study employs the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [2011] pointed out that main customer segments of mobile and Internet banking were not necessarily the same, which might explain why Sadi et al. [2010] distinguished mobile commerce from other electronic commerce. Page 104 Journal of Electronic Commerce Research, VOL 13, NO 2, 2012 Therefore, compared to huge online banking studies and relative few research available to help banks understand the adoption of mobile banking [Suoranta Mattila 2003; Laukkanen Pasanen 2008; Puschel et al. 2010], more studies to investigate what influences people to adopt mobile banking are necessary and demanded. Given that the chance of success in introducing a new product or service is highly related to the depth of understanding of what influences consumers to adopt this new product or service, this study employed the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) with age and gender as moderating effects to elaborately investigate what affecting individuals to adopt mobile banking. The findings culled from this research can help banks execute intricate marketing campaigns and customize service options to cater to specific customer segments in the context of electronic banking. 2. Literature Review Literature reveals that abundant research on electronic banking has focused on Internet banking (also called online banking), whereas research focusing on mobile banking is relative little and receives underrated attention [Suorantia Mattila 2004; Laukkanen Pasanen ... • 4. Human Distribution Patterns Of Acacia Saligna Abstract Distribution patterns of Acacia saligna are quite diverse in South Africa especially taking under consideration that they do not have immediate threats that inhibit their spread. However, this species occurs in very different environmental gradients, as it can occur from a wet habitat/area to a bare rock surface that is a very dry habitat. Due to such observations for the distribution of this species a question is imposed in this paper as to how do traits vary along environmental gradients? Two phenotypic traits/characteristics are investigated, Specific Leaf Area (SLA) and wood density. SLA was calculated by adding the total sum of all the leaf area per individual and dividing that with the total sum of all the leaf dry mass per individual. SLA = Total leaf area/ Dry leaf mass, SLA unit g/cm². The highest value for SLA is at the dry site, intermediate in wet site and lowest in the ultra dry site. The wood density for branch and stem samples was calculated using the latest dry mass value/ volume. Wood density unit measure is g/cm³. The stem wood density was highest at the ultra dry site, followed by wet site and then the dry site. Branch wood density was highest at the dry site, intermediate at ultra dry site and lowest at the wet site. Introduction Acacia saligna is a small tree endemic to the Swan Coastal plain in the Mediterranean climate region of south west Australia and is widely naturalized in Mediterranean type ecosystems throughout the world (Tozer and ... I do know this piece, and I was happy when I saw them playing it. they played the four movements. The first one which was the Adagio Allegro, reminded me with Beethoven his 9th symphony. The opening of this movement was hard and dynamic of it is loud at the beginning, but then is getting softer with the cello and violins. It tempo of it is fast as well; it feels like a darkness with the loud start at the beginning. The end of it was pretty by the cords, it is a nice piece. • 11. Lord Of The Flies Innocence Character Analysis March from Innocence The author Lyman Abbott once said, Every life is a march from innocence, through temptations, to virtue or vice (qtd. in Brainy Quote). This march, as Abbott puts it, is maturation. Inevitably, everyone must experience these phases, ending either in, the iconic, good or evil. The novel, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, examines these very steps. More specifically, Golding displays through the character Ralph; the phases of psychological maturity. Ralph throughout his experiences on the island will progress and digress in maturity. Ralph will begin as a carefree, innocent child happy to be away from constraints of society. However, through certain events, Ralph will grow to become a leader and choose to stay morally good, while the boys around him digress in evil. More specifically, events that illustrate Ralphs, responsibility, assertiveness, honesty, detachment, and understanding lead to his complete maturation. Stranded on an island with no supervision, Ralph does what any child would do, he stood on his head and grinned (Golding 8). Ralph s immaturity is marked by this reaction of being without adult supervision. Like any child, he finds pleasure in doing what he wants and strips his clothes and plays around. Though Ralph displays childlike attributes now, he will experience steps that begin his maturation process. The first step Ralph experiences is responsibility. An example; when the boys first crash on the island and everyone strays, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Long Walk Home And Sociological Perspective Humans often take pride in their ability to think freely and act independently. However, many actions that we perform and certain ways we behave in society are often quickly overlooked and not questioned. We often do not understand why we perform certain tasks or adhere to certain rules. However, we still paradoxically pride ourselves in our freedom. By analyzing the sociological perspective, we can understand how much of a role society often plays in our actions and behavior as individuals in society. Certainly, the sociological perspective can allow us to analyze events in the movie The Long Walk Home more closely. The sociological perspective can allow us to understand how the actions of the characters are often chained and their behaviors controlled by society, through using the theories of social location, social control, and social stratification. The sociological perspective can also allow us to understand why these characters strangely adhered to these forms of oppressive control and often resisted change, through using role theory and the sociology of knowledge. Lastly, the sociological perspective will allow us to understand how actors can break free of these bindings, through using an interpretive analysis and applying concepts such as freedom, ecstasy, and bad faith. Overall, the sociological perspective allows us to understand the personalities, actions, and story of The Long Walk Home through revealing to us how these features were guided through control, ... Edna Pontillier, the main character, enters a rebellious state of mind as she explores the awakening the other characters influence. The other characters in The Awakening create Edna by influencing her decisions, independence, and sexual desires throughout the story. Mademoiselle Reisz, Robert, and Alcee Arobin challenge Edna to fly above the Creole traditions and become more in touch with her sexuality, and encourage her to be an independent woman while Edna s husband, Leonce, Madame Ratignolle, and Edna s father conflict with Edna because they want her to be a traditional Creole wife and mother to her children and try to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Edna s husband, Leonce Pontillier, becomes aware that she is not the woman he married when she begins to argue with him about her duties as a wife and a mother. He could see plainly that she was not herself. That is, he could not see that she was becoming herself and daily casting aside that fictitious self which we assume like a garment with which to appear before the world (Chopin 96). Leonce acts as a benchmark throughout the novel reminding Edna that she is bound to her family and makes her feel trapped. He is her reality check. Edna acknowledges that she is a poor mother and wife since she does not fit in with the traditions of the Creole society. When Edna s father comes to visit, he is disappointed that Edna is not living up to Leonce s expectations since she is not actually from a different lifestyle. He mentions that she might just be different than other women and directs Leonce to be more strict with her saying, Put your foot down good and hard; the only way to manage a wife (Chopin 119). Edna tries hard to entertain her father during his stay to prove to him that she can live in the traditional society, though she is happy when he leaves. • 15. Master Harold And The Boys Character Analysis In Master Harold and the Boys, Hally s crippled father never appears on stage, instead, the closest thing to him talking is through the telephone conversations. However, Hally s father still has a huge impact on the play as his roles in the play include creating tension through the phone conversations and his relationship with his son also brings about the bond between Hally and the servants. In addition, he symbolizes the conflict of apartheid in South Africa back then. One of Hally s father s role in the play is acting as a dramatic device. His telephone conversations with Hally alters the mood and creates tension in the play. Before the telephone conversation regarding his dad, the mood of nostalgia was in the air as Hally and Sam recalled the kite flying memory. However, after Hally has a frustrating phone call regarding his father, the mood immediately changes with Hally saying, (seething with irritation and frustration) Tell me something I don t know, Sam. What the hell do you think I was saying to my Mom? (P.34) This quote is where Hally takes out his anger and irritation by snapping at Sam, and in doing so, creating tension between the characters. • 18. Dracula Influences Dracula: Influences of the Present and Past Vampires are not completely fictional. In the late 1890s Bram Stoker takes historical information and old European folktales to create famous Gothic novels like Dracula; Before writing Dracula, he studied for eight years stories of vampires. The title of Stoker s story has historical significance to Vlad Dracul III, a Wallachian ruler who impaled his victims on stakes. Bram Stoker also was influenced by his lifetime, before the publication of Dracula, Gothic and Epistolary novels were on the rise consequently why Dracula is classified as both. Stoker s novels show his ideals as well as views on social and political reforms during the Victorian era. Moreover, the threats of female sexuality plagued Victorian anxieties, morals were being questioned. At this time, Victorians were believed to be morally progressing and can now be seen as a more prudish time. During this time book publishers often altered words that might be inappropriate. Bram Stoker s Dracula establishes the seminal view of vampires that has been modified throughout the ages to the now idealized vampire. In Bram Stoker s novel, he creates the first ideal look of a vampire. At the beginning of the story, Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania to go the Count s castle on business. Jonathan along the way has strange encounters with townspeople about where he is traveling. Stoker early in the book draws from our reference of the now traditional vampire and states in ... It is a person s choice to spend the majority of their time using social media. Social media has many more positives than negatives. A perfect example of this is global communications. People can speak with relatives, business partners, and friends from around the world. Many others are capable of using social media to their economic advantage as well. There are many companies founded through the use of the internet and use social media to self promote these companies. Also, the internet and specifically, social media is now used as a valuable source of news and many people s primary way of obtaining recent news. Therefore, although social media may cause less human interaction it does generally make us more social due to the fact that we can interact with others globally within minutes and access news in the same fashion. There are many cases of ludicrous things happening on the internet through social media. Things such as cyber bullying or stalking. Due to this many people no longer feel safe when they use social media. They are reluctant to post ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Jane Yolen Devil s Arithmetic The Holocaust was a merciless, barbaric, inhumane genocide that killed 11 million brave, innocent people, and completely changed the lives of the survivors. This atrocious event is brilliantly explained in two phenomenal, distinct compositions of Holocaust literature. Their authors beautifully address their readers with a similar motivation, but tremendously conflicting tones and unique writing tools. In Jane Yolen s compassionate novel, Devil s Arithmetic, she relays the exhilarating storyline calmly, through fact and experience. She appeals to her readers with her strong, passionate vocabulary and connotative authenticity. Contrastingly, Peter Fischl writes his truly heartfelt, inspiring poem, To the Little Polish Boy Standing With His Arms Up, with raging, argumentative emotion. The gripping novel, Devil s Arithmetic, by Jane Yolen, includes a detailed explanation of the atrocious, unspeakable deeds that occured during this sickening war, and the incalculable bravery, knowledge, loyalty, and innocence of the Jews, as they courageously struggle to survive and thrive amid the sickening horrors within the Nazi controlled concentration camps. During this incredible, informative exposition, Yolen exemplifies the admirable actions of the Jews, and urges us to honor and respect them and all they have gone through. She distinguishes her purpose for the novel numerous times throughout the story; that she means to spread knowledge and empathy for these valiant survivors. On page 169, Yolen states, And yet it is still impossible, unimaginable, difficult to grasp. Even with the facts in front of us, the numbers, the indelible photographs, the autobiographies, the wrists still bearing the long numbers, there are people in the world who deny such things actually happened. This exemplifies how Yolen wants to assist the world to recognize and embrace the despicable operations of the Nazis, and understand that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is about Parvez, a Pakistani immigrant living in England, that has largely assimilated to the normal British lifestyle. His son Ali originally seems to have done so as well; at some point, however, Parvez starts noticing obvious changes in his son s behaviour: he gets rid of his personal possessions such as CDs, videotapes, books and clothes as well as his TV and stereo system, breaks up with his girlfriend, stops playing the guitar and progressively isolates himself from his old friends. Initially unable to explain or understand what is happening to him, he starts looking for clues, suspecting drugs or something similar to be the cause. By directly confronting his son, he finally finds out that Ali feels disgusted by the Western lifestyle as well as his father s behaviour, meaning his neglecting Muslim precepts and principles. This discovery makes Parvez s dreams of doing well in England and successfully integrating into British society crumble and he continually grows more worried about his son who acts increasingly fundamentalist and hateful. • 29. The Legacy Of The Lauren Rogers Museum The Lauren Rogers Museum is located in Laurel, Mississippi and was built in 1923. One unique characteristic about this museum is that has the Georgian Revival Style, which means if you were to cut the museum down the middle in equal halves each side would be identical. While touring the Lauren Rodgers Museum there were two separate collections that caught my eye. These collections consisted of the American and European collection. The American collection focuses primarily on portraiture. In the American Collection I chose a painting by Jean MacLane called The Chintz Chair. MacLane was born on September 14, 1878 and died on January 23, 1964 in New Canaan, Connecticut. One of MacLane s first studies was at an Art Institute in Chicago with John Vanderpoel. MacLane and her husband, artist John C. Johansen (1876 1964) help found the National Foundation of Portrait Painters in 1912 (Jean 2015). The year of 1912 was considered to be MacLane s biggest year because she was recognized for many different awards. MacLane depicted the Allied Leaders from W.W.I., provided the only female subject, Queen Elisabeth of Belgian, and also became an associate member of the National Academy of Design. The main items that MacLane incorporates into her portraits are women and their children. In 1931, she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letter (Jean 2015). • 30. The Art Cinema As A Mode Of Film Essay Article Three Author: David Bordwell / Title of Article: The Art Cinema as a Mode of Film Bordwell, D. (1979). The art cinema as a mode of film practice. Film Criticism, 4(1), 56 64. David Bordwell wrote his article The Art Cinema as a Mode of Film in an effort to convey the main idea that art cinema can be considered as a distinct mode of film practice, through its definite historical existence alongside other cinematic modes, set of formal conventions, and implicit viewing procedures. Rather than searching for the source of the art, or what drives the art in film, Bordwell compares art cinema to the classical narrative cinema, and highlights the differences in narrative structure. Bordwell makes the assumption that it defined itself against the classical narrative mode; especially with the way it deals with space, time, and the cause and effect link of events. To support this idea, Bordwell illustrates how art cinema motivates its narratives differently, through two principles: realism and authorial expressivity. Firstly he proposes the notion that art films reflect realism in their characters, space, and time. Psychologically complex characters are present in real worlds dealing with true to life situations. Art cinema is concerned with the characters reaction to these situations, rather than their action . Thus it bares an element of psychological subjectivity as the characters survey the world they are in, which aids the realisation of the distress of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Luther King believed that in order for us humans to have a meaningful live we must put aside our personal problems and care about the problems of humanity as a whole. Debbie took out her recording camera and started to record the gap between the highway, meantime a car was coming and didn t see the gap crashed in it. Instead of recording Debbie and Thomas should have tried to grab the attention of the drivers so that they wouldn t have fallen through the road gap. They now experience survivors guilt because they survived not crashing into the road gap when the others did (Amaldo, 2004). Survivors guilt has been studied in many situations because it is a psychological disorder that affects individuals that have survived a scarring catastrophe. The Holocaust is one of these catastrophes that have left survivors with a sense of guilt. A study done by Gertrude Schneider upon 50 Holocaust survivors demonstrated that some but not all had a sense of survivors guilt (Schneider, 1975). Fourteen of the interviewed victims admitted that they felt bad for being passive victims and that they would have preferred to have died honorably (Schneider, 1975). • 32. Hmax Model Paper Final Project: Research about HMAX model Seok Hee Lee Abstract In this paper, I investigated some of the models of computational neuroscience used in the face recognition field. The model to be discussed is HMAX model. The paper contains what HMAX model is, how it is derived in terms of biological background, and how it is being used for facial recognition. Also, I simulated the simplified version of the model in MATLAB. The simulation of the simplified version verified one cell in the highest hierarchy covers the entire retinal space of the given image. INTRODUCTION First of all, I looked into the paper written by Riesenhuber and how HMAX model is derived from a biological concept of a visual cortex. It begins with the power of cells found in macaque inferotemporal cortex (IT). The cells in IT are considered as essential cells for recognizing an object and IT is the highest area in the ventral visual stream. They are tuned to views of complicated objects, for instance a face of human. Their response remains almost the same when scale or position of an object changes, and it is one of the characteristic of these cells. This raises a question: how can these cells distinguish similar faces? In the other words, this paper talks what mechanism these cells use to respond differently from the similar inputs. This question is related to the model proposed by Hubel and Wiesel. In this model, simple cells with neighboring receptive fields feed into higher hierarchy cell and this ... • 33. Georgia s Craft Beer Industry Problem Statement From the end of prohibition in 1933 to the turn of the new millennium, Georgia s craft beer industry had seen more failure than success. Over a 67 year span, 9 of the 14 microbreweries to operate in the state failed. Was it the cost and availability of big beer and product loyalty that caused this to happen? But in 2013, Georgia s craft beer industry took a drastic turn. Microbreweries were opening at an exponential rate. That year, Creative Loafing, an alternative news weekly, reported eight microbreweries opening in the city of Atlanta, alone. Georgia had entered into a craft beer boom. Today, there are 31 microbreweries operating in Georgia, and 24 more in planning, bringing the total to 55 of these small production breweries. What could have changed to cause an historically failed industry to boom in such a short period of time? Millennials. According to U.S. Census data, Georgia s population of Millennials, defined as those born between 1980 and 2000, significantly increased between 2010 and 2014, the generation growing from 15.3% of the population in 2010 to 26.61% of the population in 2014. (Pew Research, U.S. Census). Earlier this year, Forbes reported that the group with the most purchasing power in the United States had shifted from the Baby Boomers to the Millennials. It is estimated that Millennials in the U.S. alone will spend around $200 billion annually by 2017. The positive relationship between the population of Millennials in ...
