Beliefs Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Beliefs" presents both a compelling challenge and an
opportunity for introspection. The difficulty lies not only in the broad spectrum of beliefs that
exist but also in the subjective nature of the topic. Beliefs are deeply personal and often rooted in
one's cultural, religious, philosophical, or experiential background. As a writer, navigating
through this intricate tapestry of beliefs requires a delicate balance between objectivity and
personal expression.
To effectively tackle such a topic, one must grapple with the diversity of perspectives,
acknowledging the vast array of beliefs held by individuals across the globe. The challenge
extends beyond merely presenting a laundry list of beliefs; it involves delving into the
underlying reasons, the emotional connections, and the societal implications associated with
these convictions.
Moreover, the essay demands a thoughtful examination of one's own beliefs, laying bare the
complexities and contradictions that may exist within. This introspective process can be both
enlightening and challenging, as it requires a genuine exploration of one's values and convictions.
The difficulty intensifies when attempting to strike a balance between respecting the beliefs of
others and critically analyzing the potential impacts of certain ideologies. Navigating this fine
line calls for a nuanced and empathetic approach, acknowledging the validity of diverse
perspectives while also engaging in constructive dialogue about the implications of certain
beliefs on a broader scale.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the theme of "Beliefs" is a formidable task that demands
intellectual rigor, introspection, and a nuanced understanding of the subject matter. The writer
must grapple with the challenge of presenting a comprehensive view of beliefs while navigating
the intricacies of personal convictions and societal implications.

What Are The Most Important Qualities Of The National...
As an organization, the National Honors Society is a prestigious group in which
those of significant quality concerning character and high academic standard are
accepted. In this, I believe that its members are often high contributors to society and
often help others to the best of their ability. Although they are not always highly
outspoken, members of NHS are frequently leaders in their community, in their
schools, and elsewhere. As a result of these common traits found in its members,
NHS must maintain a justified strict acceptance margin. Thus, my integrity of
character, natural inclination for leadership, and understanding of the importance of
activity in the community are all qualities which I posses that make me a viable
candidate for membership in the National Honors Society.
Highly valued by higher achiever in life, quality character is an extremely important

As a result, understanding and embodying this idea is another important aspect for
those considered to be well rounded individuals. Service to the community builds
connection and helps those in need, which in turn builds character ensuring that
everyone benefits. Thus, my association with the marching band and lacrosse team
and the service we do within those groups is an extremely important part of my
character. I have also extended this service within my youth group and volunteered to
help out sports events and others in the community. Furthermore, the service done
with the school or in the name of the school has exemplified the character and true
quality of Central Dauphin students. Thus, through the importance of service and
what I believe I have contributed through it, I think that my embodiment of this
quality qualifies me for membership in

All managers have resources (time, talent and capital) to varying degrees within
their organizations. So, technically, all managers are strategists. The reality,
however, is that not all managers are good strategists. Herein lies the pearl of great
opportunity: the deeper you can dive into the business and resurface with strategic
insights, the more valuable you ll become to your organization. Effective resource
allocation drives profitability (more resources invested in the right activities) and
productivity (fewer resources invested in the wrong activities). The result is a high
performance organization in which all levels of management are encouraged and

When Attending College Is Not Worth It
Imagine after working hard the past four years of your life at college you graduate.
You are faced with the realization that the next 10 years of your life you ll be faced
with paying off all of your college debt. You will hardly have any income at all.
Students may decide college is not worth it because the debts are huge and difficult
for a young adult to pay off. Also, it is very possible for a determined high school
graduate to get a quality job to support themself without the expensive fees of
attending a college. Therefore, students should rethinks their goal of getting into a
quality college because attending college is not worth it.
College is not a wise investment because the debts are huge and they are a struggle

Conclusion:
In conclusion, my graph shows how the average rate of movement of the porcellio
scaber moved slower at lower temperatures (at 5В°C, the average rate of movement
was 0.2cm/second) and increased movement as the temperature got higher (at
25В°C, the average rate of movement was 0.5cm/second). My hypothesis was
partially correct as the porcellio scabers did move slower at lower temperatures and
moved faster as the temperature increased. But, the porcellio scabers did not move
slower at their optimum range of 15В°C. This may have been because of the
temperature in the classroom at the time when I was doing my experiments. For
example, when doing my experiment at 15В°C, the temperature in the classroom was
24В°C. This factor may have affected my results as the temperature in the room has
affected the temperature being tested on the porcellio scaber.
Discussion:
This investigation was carried out to determine if the rate of movement of
porcellio scabers changed when it was placed in different temperatures and
therefore if the temperature affected their ecological niche. My graph is slightly
different compared to the Rosehill College s practical investigation of porcellio
scabers graph, found under the biology section on the Rosehill College webpage. The
Rosehill College porcellio scaber graph from 5В°C to 15В°C decreased in average
rate of movement and from 15В°C to 25В°C, it increased in average rate of
movement. My graph did not decrease at any point as the average rate of
Benefits And Benefits Of Retirement Plans
Retirement Plans Companies have the option of selecting the best pension plan
for both the employee and the employer. There are several different types to plans
available, but the most common are defined benefit plans and defined contribution
plans. Each plan offers different incentives for both the employer and the
employee, which makes their values different for every situation. Defined Benefit
Plans Large corporations under which the employer promises to pay a retiree a
stated pension, often expressed as a percentage of preretirement pay, which is
traditionally used and known as a defined benefit plans (Cascio, 2013, p. 483). The
most common formula for defined benefit plans couples an employee s years of
service and their final average pay, to determine the amount of their retirement.
Employers then pay into the fund each year to cover the expected benefit payment
for the employee. The majority of defined benefit plans calculates earnings over
the last 3 to 5 years of service for a prospective retiree and offers a pension that is
about one half this amount, which varies from 30 to 80 percent, adjusted for years
of seniority (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2014, p. 466). The following is a list of
characteristics for defined benefit plans. Benefits are guaranteed by the Pension

Uniforms School uniforms are becoming a popular trend amongst schools. Students
and even most parents don t agree with the enforcement with school uniforms;
stating that uniforms take away the right of self expression. School uniforms are not
a negative thing to have. Yes, uniforms limit what the students have to choose to
wear to school every day, but it doesn t limit them from learning; the only reason
they are in school. Student treat school as a fashion show, so eliminating that puts
the students full focus on schoolwork. Although requiring students to wear school
uniforms may violate their self expression in some ways, a uniform are supposed to
be looked upon as a positive thing, because they eliminate bullying, combine social
classes and gives the school campus a professional look. The most common
argument against school uniforms is that they take away the students right to self
expression. Yes, school uniforms limit what the students have to wear, but he/she
can still have their own ways of self expression. Students can still express their style
of choice by the way he/she styles their hair and what accessories they choose to
wear. Their shoe choice is also a form of self expression. Students can make the

ABSTRACT
Due to their exceptional mechanical properties, thermal conductivity and electrically
insulating property, boron nitride nanotubes and nanosheets have promising
applications in the field of engineering and biomedical sciences. Accurate modeling of
failure or fracture in a nanomaterials inherently involves coupling of atomic domains
of crack, voids as well as deformation mechanism originating from grain boundaries.
This review highlights the recent progress made in the atomistic modeling of boron
nitride nanofillers. Continuous improvements in computational power and parallel
processing have made it possible to study structural properties of these nanofillers in
atomistic state. These atomistic simulations are emerging as viable alternatives to
time consuming and costly experimental means.

The Five Characteristics Of Japanese Culture
Japan Culture
SSG Lomberk, Michael
SLC 501 17
Culture is a specific set of morals and values that distinguish a group of individuals
from another. The five characteristics that define a culture are that culture is learned,
shared with others, based on symbols, it s integrated throughout a nation and lastly
can have dynamic. Culture is learned, we primarily see culture taught in adolescent
years through our peers, school, family, and even sometimes the media. Your
upbringing has an impact on your culture. Culture often shared, it s a social construct.
To learn a language, behavior, or even a tradition we must interact with other people,
thus making culture shared. Culture is also sometimes based on symbols. We in
America know that the flag, red, white, and blue is a symbol of the United States, this
a part of our culture. Culture is integrated, it s brought to wherever you may go in the
world, it s usually mixed with other cultures which make culture integrated. Culture is
also dynamic; your culture can always modify slightly, it can always change.
Japanese culture is a complex system of different layers of morals and values. In
Japan, they have a huge range of different morals and values that make Japan unique
in its culture. When we think of Japanese culture, Samurai warriors and sushi, come
to mind, but there s so much more about the culture than that. The capital of Japan is
Tokyo, the population of Japan is one hundred and twenty seven million.

The Importance Of Voting In Congress
Topic Statement The public in America is disillusioned to believe that they run the
government as they are on the top in the hierarchy of democracy. However in
practice the incidents suggests that the rich are ruling the country while the
general public is left with no choice but to follow the rules set in favor of the few.
Ironically, there is an indifference towards this attitude in the general public as it is
seen as a part of the American dream. The issue of if contributors to a particular
politician buy the respective congressmen to vote in their favor is highly debatable.
While certain groups believe that contributions are made to campaign of a particular
politician because the donators believe in the cause and issues put forward by the
candidate and want to support that cause. There is an increasing belief on
assumptions that donations to campaign of a political person leads to a high level of
corruption where congressmen vote for the people they have received donation from.
Nowadays, the cost of election campaign of a politician running for... Show more

effectiveness of these articles would be evaluated in light of the available evidence.

The Century Guilt By Marylin Nelson Summary
Marylin Nelson, a poet and children s book author, wrote her poem The Century
Quilt in the twentieth century for a quilter named Sarah Mary Taylor. For Nelson,
her life was influenced based on a family member s item. Nelson expresses through
the poem the impact that her Meema s quilt had on her life through theme,
symbolism, and vivid imagery. When reading the poem, the reader can relate to
Nelson by having a childhood memory imbedded into her mind that includes a
certain item that holds a significant meaning. For Nelson, the item that holds a
significant meaning is her Meema s quilt. The theme Nelson relays to her readers in
the poem is that a childhood item can hold sentimental value throughout life. In the
first stanza she states how she fell in love with Meema s Indian blanket when she
was a child, and she even mentions the memories she made with her sister and the
quilt. As she grew older, Nelson realized the significance the quilt had impacted on
her life. Throughout the poem, Nelson makes connections to what the quilt means to
her. To Nelson, the quilt that belonged to her Meema was more than just a quilt. The
quilt symbolizes her family tree. The symbolism is made evident to the reader in the
last two lines of the poem that states that Nelson would call it the Century Quilt, after
its patterns of leaves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of vivid imagery is expressed in lines 15 16 that state how one square
[represents] the yellowbrown of Mama s cheeks. Nelson uses descriptive language
to back up the symbolism of the quilt representing her family s heritage. The reader
also can find another example of vivid imagery in lines 39 40, which state that
Nelson would dream of [her] father s burnt umber pride, [her] mother s ochre
gentleness under her quilt. The use of vivid imagery shows how the memory of the
quilt is imbedded into her memory

Electricity Generation
Electricity generation is the process of creating electricity from other forms of energy.
The fundamental principles of electricity generation were discovered during the
1820s and early 1830s by the British scientist Michael Faraday. His basic method is
still used today: electricity is generated by the movement of a loop of wire, or disc of
copper between the poles of a magnet.[1]
For electric utilities, it is the first process in the delivery of electricity to consumers.
The other processes, electricity transmission, distribution, and electrical power
storage and recovery using pumped storage methods are normally carried out by the
electrical power industry.

What is an organization?
An organization is a group of people, such as a foundation or an academy that

Public Sector Organizations:
Private Sector Organizations: Voluntary Sector Organizations:
Public Sector Organizations: Public Sector Organizations is operated and owned by
the Government for the people of the state. Source of funding for this sector usually
raised through public taxes, fee and through financial transfer from central
government to local government. Example of public sectors organizations are: NHS
(National Health Service), DfT (Department for Transport), HM Revenue Customs
(HMRC)
Private Sector Organizations: Private Sector Organizations operated and owned by
the private individual instead of government and usually aimed to make profit for its
shareholders. Around the world the most business activities are in private sectors.
Some of the well known private sectors organizations are: Coca Cola, Google, and

Vonnegut does, however, see the opportunities that religion provides into self

mysterious paradox, the concept that lies are a direct pathway to the truth, is
Vonnegut s way to dissuade readers from trying to understand God s, and likely his,

for proper reimbursement from the government. Top Three Disasters According to
Grand Canyon University (2011), disaster preparation can be a high stress activity.
One reason for this is the fact that there are many disasters to take into consideration
during planning. Some disasters are unique to geographic areas, such as hurricanes,
and tornadoes. Yet, other disasters occur regardless of geography such as fires, or
pandemic outbreaks (Grand Canyon University, 2011). According to Mr. Fay, the

Relationship Between Hindu Gods And Goddesses
Hindu Gods and Goddesses
Hinduism is one of the oldest religions in the world. It has a complicated system of
many gods. These gods can take many forms including animals and people.
Hinduism, being a debatable polytheistic religion, has many gods who create legends
that can help explain relationships between god and people while elaborating on hindu
beliefs.
Hinduism is commonly viewed as a polytheistic religion. It s many gods make up a
variety of interesting stories and myths. However, many of these gods are simply
reincarnations of other gods. A god may reincarnate to perform a certain task. They
can reincarnate in human and animal and other God like forms (Vishnu, BBC). It is

Shiva is considered the destroyer of god or the god of that is intended to end of the
universe. This may have a negative connotation however, in Hinduism the
universe is thought to regenerate in cycles every 2,160,000,000 years, Shiva
destroys the universe at the end of each cycle which allows for a new creation
(Mark Cartwright). Shiva is not destroying the universe but really opening up the
opportunity for new creation. The story of how Shiva and Parvati end up getting
married provides insight into the relationships between gods and other gods.
When Parvati s mother did not approve of Parvati marriage to Shiva. To show this
disapproval she held a sacrifice and invite all gods, except for Shiva. To retaliate
Shiva created two demons to kill Parvati s mother. In the end the other gods were
able to rationalize with Shiva, allowing him to bring back Parvati s mother from
the dead. In their next incarnation Shiva and Parvati got married (Mark Cartwright).
This story shows how god can make flaws and how they can act irrationally.
However it also shows how gods can come together and reason with those who are
out of control. Shiva shows us a more emotional side of god s bettering our
understanding of inter god
Secure Local Area Network Infrastructure Project
Secured Network Infrastructure Project.
Introduction
For one to design and come up with a very well secured network, there are a number
of factors that have to be taken into consideration. They include the topography and
the place meant of hosts within the network, the careful configuration of each
component and lastly the selection of software and hardware technologies. This
project focuses on the designing of a secure Local Area Network as well as some of
the best practices suggested by the security experts. The three areas in which I will
focus include : network topology which comprises of the physical and logical design
of the network, the ways of securing the switches and routers that connect segments
and hosts to and from the network and lastly the the advanced techniques in network
security.
Initial assumptions and Challenges.
In the examining some of the security issues that are commonly found in the small
to medium sized LAN set up for businesses and in the identification of the best
practices from a network designer s perspective, here are some of the challenges faced
Securing the internet facing web, mails servers and DNS
Securing the network from the attacks launched at it
The securing of mission critical and sensitive internal resources for example customer
data base, financial records and trade secrets
The building of a framework for the administrators to securely manage the network.
Provision of logging systems and those for detection of intrusion.

For the entirety of the play, 12 Angry Men is set in the Jury Room. In the play it
describes it as A large, drab, bare room in need of painting. (p. 1) it s also A very
hot summer afternoon (p.1) which makes the Jury room even more unbearable
then it would be on a normal day. With the lack of working fans in the room the
Jurors are left in there hot, sweaty and irritated. This effects their emotions because
they are unconfutable which makes them not care what they say or do. In the
film, this is exaggerated because Sidney Lumet exemplifies how the Jury room as

room by having the Jurors drenched in sweat. By exaggerating this, the audience has
a visual that helps them understand how hot the room is and they can understand
how awful it would be to be in the situation of the Jurors. With the room being hot
and uncomfortable it makes the all the Jurors angry and on edge. Most of the Jurors

can occur through the embedded computer systems of the drone. Due to the vast
amounts shapes and sizes of drones, there is not set standard when classifying this
type of vehicle (Corrigan, 2015). However, the military does use a system for
classifying the size of drones as this technology is used regularly in this area. This

Numerous propellers are manufactured out of plastic and carbon fiber, which is
often reserved for drones of higher quality (Corrigan, 2015). To limit the amount of
damage done to the propellers, propeller guards can be purchased and used to
prevent unwanted outside contact with the drones. These guards also ensure the
safety of individuals both controlling the drone remotely and those who may be
located near the flight path. Significant amounts of innovation are occurring with
this particular drone component. As the quality of propellers increase, the better
the flight experience will be for owners. One of the sizable innovations in this area
involves low noise propellers as drones are often known for making a buzzing
sound as they fly through the air. Pusher Propellers As stated in the name, these
propellers are responsible for pushing the drone through the air and are located at
the rear of the drone. However, unlike the standard propellers located at the front of
the drone, these actually rotate opposite of the direction of the standard propellers
(Quimby, 2015). This action cancels out motor torques during stationary flight.
These propellers, same as the standard propellers, are also made of either plastic
and carbon fiber. In addition, drone propeller guards can be bought and placed
around the propellers. Brushless Motors Brushless motors are considered to be a
high performance motor that is capable of providing large amounts of torque over a

The Threat Of Nuclear Weapons
Introduction
During a presidential debate Hillary Clinton made the claim that, the number one
threat we face in this world [is nuclear weapons] and [that] becomes particularly
threatening if terrorists ever get their hands on any nuclear material. (Find Reference)
Hillary Clinton stressed that terrorist gaining nuclear materials was the clear threat
and whilst there were mentions of Iran and the general proliferation of nuclear
weapons, her main concern was nuclear weapons being utilised by terrorists. The
discussion around terrorists obtaining nuclear weapons consists of a dichotomy.

(MAD p.4) MAD is a defence strategy that operates on the premise that neither the
US nor its enemies will never launch a nuclear attack, as the country being attacked
would react massively and unacceptably. (MAD p.4) Robert Spalding says nuclear
weapons are instruments of peace , that ensures a country such as the US is
domestically secure. (Peace web article Huffington Post) Although it does not ensure
complete peace as seen in the proxy wars conducted during the cold war it does
protect the US, as direct conflict between the two nuclear powers always deescalated
back to dialogue. Therefore the US should not feel threatened by nuclear weapons
from other states.
MAD mitigates the threat of nuclear attacks between states. Ideas associated with
democratic peace theory, and international law also demonstrate why nuclear
weapons possessed by other states are not a threat to the US. The international court
of justice reviewed the threat and use of nuclear weapons in legal terms. The court
found that the threat or use of nuclear weapons would generally be contrary to the
rules of international law applicable in armed conflict, and in particular the principles
and rules of humanitarian law . (International Law p.3) When coupled with
democratic peace theory that suggests that democratic countries refrain from armed

that gay media sources had produced the ideal male physique that negatively impact

S. C. Verma, (2000), explained about the linkage of talent acquisition management
and engagement with business strategy of the organization. In this context author has
stated that, historically, organizations have not treated the recruitment process as one
of strategic significance, but latterly many are now waking up to the reality that,
world has changed; and no more can the organization pick and choose between
several great candidates for one position. Author has observed that, several changes in
connected world have tipped the scales in favor of the highly talented individual
looking of a new opportunity. In the opinion of author, talent acquisition is part of a
broader strategic approach in the quest to gain and sustain a competitive advantage.
Other aspects include talent development and retention which are primarily inward
facing, whilst the former is outward looking. Author has concluded that, the
organizations are taking talent acquisition management and engagement as their
significant business strategy and even the employees are satisfied with the policies
and measures adopted by the organizations.

I Am Malala Essay
The book I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai and Christina Lamb is about a teenaged
girl named Malala Yousafzai who got shot in the head by the Taliban for standing
up for female education. The book begins in Mingora, Pakistan where Malala lives in
October 6, 2012. She is riding a bus until it stops and a man walks on demanding for
Malala to reveal herself. Albeit she didn t reveal herself, he shot her in the head
assuming she was Malala since she wasn t wearing a burqa (a female veil).
Malala is Pashtun which is an ethnic group mainly located in Pakistan and
Afghanistan. Although she is Muslim, she observed when she was very young that
many Pakistanis would use Islam to derogate and prevent females from getting an
education. So, she decided to create her own interpretation of Islam where females
can educate themselves while still being Muslim.
Because of her sex, restrictions were forced upon her and she knew that from an
early age. Despite that and being shy, she was clever and was encouraged by her
father to take part in debate and speaking competitions. She eventually became one

Strategic Behavior And Game Theory
Introduction
Strategic behavior and game theory coincide together in many ways. Strategic
behavior plans happen within the confines of game theory. Silva, Mota, and Gril
(2015) describe game theory and all that is involved with it as one of the most
powerful tools within social science in general and economics (p. 421). With this
statement, a deeper look into the measures that sum up strategic behavior and game
theory is essential for an understanding of a firm s decision in the global economy.
Strategic Behavior
Definition
As oligopolists compete for advantages in their market, they must make decisions
about the approach they take. Strategic behavior is the plan the oligopolist takes after
understanding all of the measures that will go into the plan as well as the opportunity
costs by not choosing other plans (Salvatore, 2015). These actions are taken into
consideration by the competitors in the industry as well. They then must arrange or
manipulate their plan in order to compete.
Role in Economics Strategic behavior is what drives a company into a competitive
market with the tools to be successful. If the leaders in a company do not take into
account all of the criteria that establishes a strategic behavioral plan, they will not be
able to compete in the industry at their highest potential. Ursacescu and Cioc (2015)
describe the criteria that is incorporated into making strategic behavioral decisions
such as operational intelligence, informational intelligence,

presented a reasonable conclusion that had me pondering.
Why was there such a strong connection? I asked my statistics teacher why such

increase your range by flat hopping your airsoft gun. There are 5 steps on how to

out your inner barrel and hop up assembly. For this example we are going to be
using a standard M4 replica, which are the most common airsoftgun on the market.
First push out the upper receiver pin on your gun, it may be tight so you should
use a pointed tool to help you knock it out. The upper receiver pin you re knocking
out is located on the left side of the rifle just below the threads of the receiver. Once
it is out you can slide the upper receiver off of the lower receiver. Once you slide it
off you can then take out the inner barrel and hop up assembly. Once it is out you
can place the receivers to the side and proceed to the next step. Step two is to

important piece. After the pin is out and in a safe place lift up or remove the hop

at the end of the arm and there should be a small circular rubber nub on the part of
the arm that was inside the hop up. Remove the small rubber nub and replace the

Psychological Manipulation In 1984 And Orwell s 1984
In Orwell s 1984, he displays psychological manipulation through Oceania s
government which it uses to control its citizens. This includes the use of
propaganda, control of content, and ethnocentrism. The Party s methods of control
relates to real life events repeated in history such as the Nazi Regime from 1933 to
1945 headed by Adolf Hitler and common patterns in cultural history. Propaganda
has an effective psychological influence that works to promote a particular,
political view point. The government of Oceania uses propaganda to their
advantage to gain support of the Party s ideology. Similarly, Adolf Hitler used
propaganda during the Nazi reign on Germany to support the Nazi ideology. The
sole purpose of propaganda is to encourage a biased belief. For example in 1984
the way in which the Party has spread propaganda is through the use of posters: A
new poster had suddenly appeared all over London. It had no caption, and
represented the monstrous figure of a Eurasian soldier.. a submachine gun pointed
from his hip. From whatever angle you looked at the poster, the muzzle of the gun
magnified by the foreshortening, seemed to be pointed straight at you (Orwell, 149).
These posters were displayed throughout Airstrip One to depict the Eurasian soldier
as an antagonistic threat. The configuration of the poster pointing a gun at the viewer
is to encourage a negative response, thus promoting the goal of the Party. In history,
one can see how Hitler used propaganda to his

Technology For The Greater Good

Technology for the Greater Good Some say that technology is the evil that will
overcome humanity, others say it is something that will lead us to a new way of
thinking about the world. In the book Remix by Catherine Latterell, she writes three
assumptions about technology: Technologies are machines, technologies bring
progress or peril, and technology is neutral. These assumptions are what some
people make about the technology. In Latterell s book there was an article by
Langdon Winner who wrote Technology Somnambulism which was about how in
the modern world we are being controlled by technology, we change the way we
live because of technology. Now given the assumptions that Latterell gives,
technology can really be seen as something that is good for the world because it
can teach us how to be a better socializer, speeds up the process of doing things,
and allows a new kind of learning tool for future generations. A study at a
Dominican University of California was done, were they monitored teenagers
social cognitive effects of technology and had learned that texting will be used by
the left side of the brain which controls the skills for math and logic. Because of
texting the teenagers are working out their left side of the brain. Although texting
can be addicted to some teenagers, for others it is a way that they can identify.

Racial Segregation And The Black Girl Essay
What does it mean to you to be a black girl? If you aren t one, what do you see
when you visualize a black girl? If your imagination limits you to just an afro

girls have chained us all to the earlier listed attributes. One side effect of this
dangerous connection is the wide opening for a new form of discrimination it
creates. Whether it is depicted through slave owners allocating the preferable
duties to lighter skinned black woman, or in modern times where a dislike in rap
music categorizes you as not really black, segregation within black communities

racial segregation has been constricted to just the injustices routed by dissimilarities
between racial groups. What failed to be discussed was the intragroup
discrimination occurring in the black society from both outside observers and inside
members. Unfortunately, our differences in the level of education, in physical
appearance, and in our social factors such as our behaviour, personality or what we
believe in have been pitted against each other to deny the variety of unique identities
that we as black individuals carry. Throughout my life, I have dealt with unfounded
accusations questioning the grounds as to which my skin belongs to me. I have heard

Analysis Of Maud A Monodrama By Alfred Lord Tennyson
Maud: A Monodrama is the lengthy poem that dominated the first collection
published by Alfred, Lord Tennyson after he became poet laureate. In its rich and
romantic symbolism, it is characteristic of the great poet s work. Notable, also, is its
critique of the hypocrisy and other social failings of Victorian Britain. Maudbecame
one of the best known poems of the period, and continued to be influential even after
its style became dated.

[{Image src= rossetti_tennysonmaud.jpg alt= Tennyson reading from Maud, 1855 }]
Alfred, Lord Tennyson was a favorite poet of generations. Made Poet Laureate of
Great Britain by Queen Victoria, he dominated the literary scene during his time.
He also came for better and for worse to represent that generation s taste, both
during his life and after it. Tennyson s rich __Victorian language__ can seem
daunting to modern readers. In reading Maud , it s a good idea to just embrace the
exaggerated concepts. Experimental in style, laden with intense symbolism, and full
of __social criticism__, Maud was not a popular poem at first, despite its author s
status. Tennyson himself was proud of the work, and retaliated against criticism by
reading it aloud whenever he could. Reportedly, this won over many critics due to the
beauty of the poem s language.
!!! Maud : A Summary
It s easy to just concentrate on the ornate language of Maud , but there s a lot of
drama in the narrative of the poem. There
Similarities Between Adam Smith And Adam Smith
As philosophy emancipated from Aristotle and Thomism, man had been placed at the
centre of the universe. The Renaissance witnessed the intellectual emancipation as
Scientific Revolution. The Scientific Revolution began with Copernicus in the first
half of the sixteenth century. Antoyne de Montchretien announced the programme in
the title of his main work, Traite de l oeconomie politique (1615), here he described
that economics, the science of acquisition , was an important part of politics before
classical school of thoughts.

Roman Britain and when he was fourteen or so, he was captured by Irish pirates

his memoir, The Confession. In The Confession, he wrote: The love of God and

that, in a single day, I have said as many as a hundred prayers and in the night,

He worked many miracles and wrote of his love for God in Confessions. After
years of living in poverty, traveling and enduring much suffering he died March 17,

buried in Down Cathedral, Down Patrick. His grave was marked in 1990 with a

How A Cartel Is A Competitive Market
A cartel is a formal organization set up by a group of firms that produce and sell
homogenous products for the purpose of enacting and sharing monopolistic rents.
Their organizations consist of formal agreements between competing firms to
control prices or exclude entry of a new competitor in a market. The sellers or buyers
of a cartelagree to fix selling prices, purchase price or reduce production using a
variety of tactics so that competing on price is avoided. Because most of these
firms are monopolies, they tend to have considerable amounts of market power, thus
making them want to behave like monopolies. With its lack of power, a cartel acts
as a counter veil to an imperfectly competitive market where fewer sellers have the
ability to base their products on decision making and supply and demand.
Since a cartel acts as an imperfectly competitive market, it is best to define it as
having a direct relationship with an oligopoly industry. In Oligopoly markets, few
numbers of sellers are joined together to form a market or an industry. Usually
consisting of 2 or 20 firms, their main goal is to sell and produce differentiated
products and services. With decisions influenced by one another, the price of the
product and the quantity of production is fixed in accordance with its member s own
self interest and self respect. The interdependence of firms in oligopoly markets is
demonstrated in the obligation to maintain price stability shown by popular demand.
It may lead firms

Comparing The Owl And The Pussy-Cat
The Owl and the Pussy Cat by Edward Lear have got to be every child s favorite
poem! It is filled with rhymes, meter and assonance that aid to give it an elegant
flow. The Owl and Pussy Cat s marriage is symbolized by the ring as the whole
poem is about their hunt for the perfect one. This poem speaks of marriage as well
as conveys the feelings of joy and love through its sound. The poem The Owl and
the Pussy Cat exceed all others due to its exceptional use of rhyme, meter,
assonance and symbolism to portray an overjoy love between two animals. Lear
uses rhyme throughout The Owl and the Pussy Cat to help enhance the joyous tone
of the poem. Rhyme is evident in the lines that follow, They took some honey, and
plenty of money (Lear, 3). The simple rhyming of honey and money intensifies the
playfulness of the joyous rhyme. Another exceptional example of rhyme is
palpable in the lines Pussy said to the Owl, You elegant fowl! (Lear, 12). As bizarre
as his choice of diction is to rhyme owl with fowl, Lear does it in a way that does not
make it awkward. All the above are examples that contribute to an overall successful
rhyming scheme that delivers joy and enthusiasm to the reader. When rhyming it is
evident that he also takes meter into consideration.... Show more content on

For instance, in the phrase You are! (Lear, 10), are is stressed while you is not. By
Lear adding examples of meter like this, it enhances the rhyming scheme. In addition,
stanza three contains the line The moon (Lear, 32) which also displays meter. Moon
is stressed while the is not. The above examples strengthen the joyous rhythmic
feeling that is associated with marriage. It is clear to say that rhythm and meter both
contribute to the overall tone of The Owl and the
My Journey Of My Life
It was in the years of my adulthood, about twelve years from my joining of the Child
s Union, and it was on my vacation; my vacation, that was, from Kim Chaek
University of Technology. The windowless transport bus halted and recoiled, alerting
me that my destination has been reached, and that I could depart to the residence of
my humble relatives in the village of Sinuiju, which was a municipal city on the very
edge of North Koreaand China. I stepped from the ancient vehicle and began the
walk towards the village s center. There, I passed copious houses of plastered white
structure and similar brown shingled roofs. Plantations were cultivated in modest
amounts despite the frigid weather, and people looked as if they had fed on the
crops. Up an inclination of crude concrete, positioned somewhat like gravel built
stairs, I greeted joyful faces of my aunt and uncle.
Kim Yeon, my nephew! It has been over fifteen years since we have seen you!
laughed my aunt, grasping my shoulder and hugging me ever so close.
Haha, yes it has Aunt Yom Hae Young. I replied, reciprocating the gesture with a
toothy grin.
Have you forgotten me Kim Yeon? My, nephew, you have grown a lot since we first
met, but surely your enthusiastic expression hasn t changed a bit! joked my uncle as
he too, initiated an burly, vigorously embrace.
Of course not Uncle! Your humor has maintained throughout the years as well; but,

issues in 1912, and re elected in 1916. He based his 1916 re election campaign
around the slogan he kept us out of war , and had worked hard to broker a
compromise peace. In early 1917 Berlin decided to launch all out submarine
warfare designed to sink American ships bringing supplies to Britain; in the
Zimmermann Telegram it proposed a military alliance with Mexico to fight a war
against the US. The nation was poorly armed when it went to war in April 1917,
but it had millions of potential fresh soldiers, billions of dollars, and huge supplies
of raw materials needed by the Allies. Officially Wilson kept the US independent
of the Allies. In 1918 Wilson took personal control of negotiations with Germany,
including the armistice. He issued his Fourteen Points, his view of a post war
world that could avoid another terrible conflict. It had an enormous impact on both
sides in Europe, and made him the man of the hour in Paris. A leader of the
Progressive Movement, he assembled a high powered group of academic advisors
to help him in Paris but his distrustful personality led him to break with a series of
close advisors, most notably Colonel House. He made a major blunder by refusing
to bring along any prominent Republicans to Paris, which politicised the American
debate and weakened his support. His main goal was a long term solution to end
warfare based on the League of Nationsand self determination of

Beliefs Essay

  • 1. Beliefs Essay Crafting an essay on the theme of "Beliefs" presents both a compelling challenge and an opportunity for introspection. The difficulty lies not only in the broad spectrum of beliefs that exist but also in the subjective nature of the topic. Beliefs are deeply personal and often rooted in one's cultural, religious, philosophical, or experiential background. As a writer, navigating through this intricate tapestry of beliefs requires a delicate balance between objectivity and personal expression. To effectively tackle such a topic, one must grapple with the diversity of perspectives, acknowledging the vast array of beliefs held by individuals across the globe. The challenge extends beyond merely presenting a laundry list of beliefs; it involves delving into the underlying reasons, the emotional connections, and the societal implications associated with these convictions. Moreover, the essay demands a thoughtful examination of one's own beliefs, laying bare the complexities and contradictions that may exist within. This introspective process can be both enlightening and challenging, as it requires a genuine exploration of one's values and convictions. The difficulty intensifies when attempting to strike a balance between respecting the beliefs of others and critically analyzing the potential impacts of certain ideologies. Navigating this fine line calls for a nuanced and empathetic approach, acknowledging the validity of diverse perspectives while also engaging in constructive dialogue about the implications of certain beliefs on a broader scale. In conclusion, composing an essay on the theme of "Beliefs" is a formidable task that demands intellectual rigor, introspection, and a nuanced understanding of the subject matter. The writer must grapple with the challenge of presenting a comprehensive view of beliefs while navigating the intricacies of personal convictions and societal implications. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or other academic writing tasks, there are resources available. Services like HelpWriting.net provide professional support for various writing needs, ensuring that individuals can navigate the complexities of essay writing with guidance and expertise. • 2. What Are The Most Important Qualities Of The National... As an organization, the National Honors Society is a prestigious group in which those of significant quality concerning character and high academic standard are accepted. In this, I believe that its members are often high contributors to society and often help others to the best of their ability. Although they are not always highly outspoken, members of NHS are frequently leaders in their community, in their schools, and elsewhere. As a result of these common traits found in its members, NHS must maintain a justified strict acceptance margin. Thus, my integrity of character, natural inclination for leadership, and understanding of the importance of activity in the community are all qualities which I posses that make me a viable candidate for membership in the National Honors Society. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All managers have resources (time, talent and capital) to varying degrees within their organizations. So, technically, all managers are strategists. The reality, however, is that not all managers are good strategists. Herein lies the pearl of great opportunity: the deeper you can dive into the business and resurface with strategic insights, the more valuable you ll become to your organization. Effective resource allocation drives profitability (more resources invested in the right activities) and productivity (fewer resources invested in the wrong activities). The result is a high performance organization in which all levels of management are encouraged and equipped to shape its strategic direction. 2.0 Definition of Subject 3.1 What is Strategy and Why is it Important Why every company needs a sound strategy to compete successfully, manages the conduct of its business, and strengthens its prospect for long term success? A company s Strategy consists of the competitive moves and business approaches that managers are employing to compete successfully, improve performance, and grow the business. Strategy is the process by which individuals and organizations make choices about scarce resources so as to satisfy wants over time. In making their choices individuals and organizations are constantly assessing market and non market forces as vehicles to enhance economic welfare but they do so in an environment of complexity and

You are faced with the realization that the next 10 years of your life you ll be faced with paying off all of your college debt. You will hardly have any income at all. Students may decide college is not worth it because the debts are huge and difficult for a young adult to pay off. Also, it is very possible for a determined high school graduate to get a quality job to support themself without the expensive fees of attending a college. Therefore, students should rethinks their goal of getting into a quality college because attending college is not worth it. College is not a wise investment because the debts are huge and they are a struggle to pay off. According
  • 5. The Rate Of Movement Of The Porcellio Scaber Moved Slower... Conclusion: In conclusion, my graph shows how the average rate of movement of the porcellio scaber moved slower at lower temperatures (at 5В°C, the average rate of movement was 0.2cm/second) and increased movement as the temperature got higher (at 25В°C, the average rate of movement was 0.5cm/second). My hypothesis was partially correct as the porcellio scabers did move slower at lower temperatures and moved faster as the temperature increased. But, the porcellio scabers did not move slower at their optimum range of 15В°C. This may have been because of the temperature in the classroom at the time when I was doing my experiments. For example, when doing my experiment at 15В°C, the temperature in the classroom was 24В°C. This factor may have affected my results as the temperature in the room has affected the temperature being tested on the porcellio scaber. Discussion: This investigation was carried out to determine if the rate of movement of porcellio scabers changed when it was placed in different temperatures and therefore if the temperature affected their ecological niche. My graph is slightly different compared to the Rosehill College s practical investigation of porcellio scabers graph, found under the biology section on the Rosehill College webpage. The Rosehill College porcellio scaber graph from 5В°C to 15В°C decreased in average rate of movement and from 15В°C to 25В°C, it increased in average rate of movement. My graph did not decrease at any point as the average rate of

Defined Benefit Plans Large corporations under which the employer promises to pay a retiree a stated pension, often expressed as a percentage of preretirement pay, which is traditionally used and known as a defined benefit plans (Cascio, 2013, p. 483). The most common formula for defined benefit plans couples an employee s years of service and their final average pay, to determine the amount of their retirement. Employers then pay into the fund each year to cover the expected benefit payment for the employee. The majority of defined benefit plans calculates earnings over the last 3 to 5 years of service for a prospective retiree and offers a pension that is about one half this amount, which varies from 30 to 80 percent, adjusted for years of seniority (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2014, p. 466). The following is a list of characteristics for defined benefit plans. Benefits are guaranteed by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) with some exceptions Employer assumes the risk of investment gains and losses Some plans do not take into consideration inflation The exact

School Uniforms And The Constitution Argumentative Essay: School Uniforms and the ConstitutionHOMETOPICAPPEALSREFUTATIONSOURCE ESSAY School Uniforms School uniforms are becoming a popular trend amongst schools. Students and even most parents don t agree with the enforcement with school uniforms; stating that uniforms take away the right of self expression. School uniforms are not a negative thing to have. Yes, uniforms limit what the students have to choose to wear to school every day, but it doesn t limit them from learning; the only reason they are in school. Student treat school as a fashion show, so eliminating that puts the students full focus on schoolwork. Although requiring students to wear school uniforms may violate their self expression in some ways, a uniform are supposed to be looked upon as a positive thing, because they eliminate bullying, combine social classes and gives the school campus a professional look. The most common argument against school uniforms is that they take away the students right to self expression. Yes, school uniforms limit what the students have to wear, but he/she can still have their own ways of self expression. Students can still express their style of choice by the way he/she styles their hair and what accessories they choose to wear. Their shoe choice is also a form of self expression. The five characteristics that define a culture are that culture is learned, shared with others, based on symbols, it s integrated throughout a nation and lastly can have dynamic. Culture is learned, we primarily see culture taught in adolescent years through our peers, school, family, and even sometimes the media. Your upbringing has an impact on your culture. Culture often shared, it s a social construct. To learn a language, behavior, or even a tradition we must interact with other people, thus making culture shared. Culture is also sometimes based on symbols. We in America know that the flag, red, white, and blue is a symbol of the United States, this a part of our culture. Culture is integrated, it s brought to wherever you may go in the world, it s usually mixed with other cultures which make culture integrated. Culture is also dynamic; your culture can always modify slightly, it can always change. Japanese culture is a complex system of different layers of morals and values. In Japan, they have a huge range of different morals and values that make Japan unique in its culture. When we think of Japanese culture, Samurai warriors and sushi, come to mind, but there s so much more about the culture than that. For Nelson, her life was influenced based on a family member s item. Nelson expresses through the poem the impact that her Meema s quilt had on her life through theme, symbolism, and vivid imagery. When reading the poem, the reader can relate to Nelson by having a childhood memory imbedded into her mind that includes a certain item that holds a significant meaning. For Nelson, the item that holds a significant meaning is her Meema s quilt. The theme Nelson relays to her readers in the poem is that a childhood item can hold sentimental value throughout life. In the first stanza she states how she fell in love with Meema s Indian blanket when she was a child, and she even mentions the memories she made with her sister and the quilt. As she grew older, Nelson realized the significance the quilt had impacted on her life. Throughout the poem, Nelson makes connections to what the quilt means to her. To Nelson, the quilt that belonged to her Meema was more than just a quilt. The quilt symbolizes her family tree. To limit the amount of damage done to the propellers, propeller guards can be purchased and used to prevent unwanted outside contact with the drones. These guards also ensure the safety of individuals both controlling the drone remotely and those who may be located near the flight path. Significant amounts of innovation are occurring with this particular drone component. As the quality of propellers increase, the better the flight experience will be for owners. One of the sizable innovations in this area involves low noise propellers as drones are often known for making a buzzing sound as they fly through the air. Pusher Propellers As stated in the name, these propellers are responsible for pushing the drone through the air and are located at the rear of the drone. However, unlike the standard propellers located at the front of the drone, these actually rotate opposite of the direction of the standard propellers (Quimby, 2015). • 27. Strategic Behavior And Game Theory Introduction Strategic behavior and game theory coincide together in many ways. Strategic behavior plans happen within the confines of game theory. Silva, Mota, and Gril (2015) describe game theory and all that is involved with it as one of the most powerful tools within social science in general and economics (p. 421). With this statement, a deeper look into the measures that sum up strategic behavior and game theory is essential for an understanding of a firm s decision in the global economy. Strategic Behavior Definition As oligopolists compete for advantages in their market, they must make decisions about the approach they take. Strategic behavior is the plan the oligopolist takes after understanding all of the measures that will go into the plan as well as the opportunity costs by not choosing other plans (Salvatore, 2015). These actions are taken into consideration by the competitors in the industry as well. They then must arrange or manipulate their plan in order to compete. Role in Economics Strategic behavior is what drives a company into a competitive market with the tools to be successful. If the leaders in a company do not take into account all of the criteria that establishes a strategic behavioral plan, they will not be able to compete in the industry at their highest potential. Ursacescu and Cioc (2015) describe the criteria that is incorporated into making strategic behavioral decisions such as operational intelligence, informational intelligence,

The Loss Of Pirates Three years ago, I read an article online titled The Loss of Pirates is the Real Reason for Global Warming, which explained that the reduction of pirates is actually statistically correlated to the rise of global temperatures. At that time, I had just begun to study the basic principles of statistics and the methods used to analyze data in school. The relationship seemed ridiculous, but according to the regression line, it presented a reasonable conclusion that had me pondering. Why was there such a strong connection? I asked my statistics teacher why such phenomenon occurred, and she suggested that I read the book How to Lie with Statistics by Darrell Huff. After finishing it, I realized that such an inexplicable result was merely due

Here s how to effectively increase your range by flat hopping your airsoft gun. There are 5 steps on how to do this and I will go over each one. The first step is to disassemble you gun and take out your inner barrel and hop up assembly. For this example we are going to be using a standard M4 replica, which are the most common airsoftgun on the market. First push out the upper receiver pin on your gun, it may be tight so you should use a pointed tool to help you knock it out. The upper receiver pin you re knocking out is located on the left side of the rifle just below the threads of the receiver. Once it is out you can slide the upper receiver off of the lower receiver. Once the pin is out put the pin in a safe spot as it is a very important piece. After the pin is out and in a safe place lift up or remove the hop up arm. You can use a small tool to lift it up or remove it easier. Once it is up look at the end of the arm and there should be a small circular rubber nub on the part of the arm that was inside the hop up. Remove the small rubber nub and replace the circular nub with a flat nub, hence the name flat hop. You can use a small piece of a pink rubber eraser or a brand name flat nub. Use a small bit of super glue to hold the nub in place on the arm while you proceed to the next

This includes the use of propaganda, control of content, and ethnocentrism. The Party s methods of control relates to real life events repeated in history such as the Nazi Regime from 1933 to 1945 headed by Adolf Hitler and common patterns in cultural history. Propaganda has an effective psychological influence that works to promote a particular, political view point. The government of Oceania uses propaganda to their advantage to gain support of the Party s ideology. Similarly, Adolf Hitler used propaganda during the Nazi reign on Germany to support the Nazi ideology. The sole purpose of propaganda is to encourage a biased belief. For example in 1984 the way in which the Party has spread propaganda is through the use of posters: A new poster had suddenly appeared all over London. It had no caption, and represented the monstrous figure of a Eurasian soldier.. a submachine gun pointed from his hip. From whatever angle you looked at the poster, the muzzle of the gun magnified by the foreshortening, seemed to be pointed straight at you (Orwell, 149). These posters were displayed throughout Airstrip One to depict the Eurasian soldier as an antagonistic threat. The configuration of the poster pointing a gun at the viewer is to encourage a negative response, thus promoting the goal of the Party. In history, one can see how Hitler used propaganda to his

Technology For The Greater Good Igor Stepanov Professor Simental English 1A 15 April, 2015 Technology for the Greater Good Some say that technology is the evil that will overcome humanity, others say it is something that will lead us to a new way of thinking about the world. In the book Remix by Catherine Latterell, she writes three assumptions about technology: Technologies are machines, technologies bring progress or peril, and technology is neutral. These assumptions are what some people make about the technology. In Latterell s book there was an article by Langdon Winner who wrote Technology Somnambulism which was about how in the modern world we are being controlled by technology, we change the way we live because of technology. Now given the assumptions that Latterell gives, technology can really be seen as something that is good for the world because it can teach us how to be a better socializer, speeds up the process of doing things, and allows a new kind of learning tool for future generations. A study at a Dominican University of California was done, were they monitored teenagers social cognitive effects of technology and had learned that texting will be used by the left side of the brain which controls the skills for math and logic. Because of texting the teenagers are working out their left side of the brain. Although texting can be addicted to some teenagers, for others it is a way that they can identify. If your imagination limits you to just an afro centric featured, loud and slang loving, uneducated woman, then this piece is addressed to you. The persistence of the stereotypes concerning average black girls have chained us all to the earlier listed attributes. One side effect of this dangerous connection is the wide opening for a new form of discrimination it creates. Whether it is depicted through slave owners allocating the preferable duties to lighter skinned black woman, or in modern times where a dislike in rap music categorizes you as not really black, segregation within black communities occur. Tracing all the way back to elementary school, my education on the subject of racial segregation has been constricted to just the injustices routed by dissimilarities between racial groups. What failed to be discussed was the intragroup discrimination occurring in the black society from both outside observers and inside members. • 38. How A Cartel Is A Competitive Market A cartel is a formal organization set up by a group of firms that produce and sell homogenous products for the purpose of enacting and sharing monopolistic rents. Their organizations consist of formal agreements between competing firms to control prices or exclude entry of a new competitor in a market. The sellers or buyers of a cartelagree to fix selling prices, purchase price or reduce production using a variety of tactics so that competing on price is avoided. Because most of these firms are monopolies, they tend to have considerable amounts of market power, thus making them want to behave like monopolies. With its lack of power, a cartel acts as a counter veil to an imperfectly competitive market where fewer sellers have the ability to base their products on decision making and supply and demand. Since a cartel acts as an imperfectly competitive market, it is best to define it as having a direct relationship with an oligopoly industry. In Oligopoly markets, few numbers of sellers are joined together to form a market or an industry. Usually consisting of 2 or 20 firms, their main goal is to sell and produce differentiated products and services. With decisions influenced by one another, the price of the product and the quantity of production is fixed in accordance with its member s own self interest and self respect. The interdependence of firms in oligopoly markets is demonstrated in the obligation to maintain price stability shown by popular demand. It may lead firms

It is filled with rhymes, meter and assonance that aid to give it an elegant flow. The Owl and Pussy Cat s marriage is symbolized by the ring as the whole poem is about their hunt for the perfect one. This poem speaks of marriage as well as conveys the feelings of joy and love through its sound. The poem The Owl and the Pussy Cat exceed all others due to its exceptional use of rhyme, meter, assonance and symbolism to portray an overjoy love between two animals. Lear uses rhyme throughout The Owl and the Pussy Cat to help enhance the joyous tone of the poem. Rhyme is evident in the lines that follow, They took some honey, and plenty of money (Lear, 3). The simple rhyming of honey and money intensifies the playfulness of the joyous rhyme. Another exceptional example of rhyme is palpable in the lines Pussy said to the Owl, You elegant fowl! (Lear, 12). As bizarre as his choice of diction is to rhyme owl with fowl, Lear does it in a way that does not make it awkward. My Journey Of My Life It was in the years of my adulthood, about twelve years from my joining of the Child s Union, and it was on my vacation; my vacation, that was, from Kim Chaek University of Technology. The windowless transport bus halted and recoiled, alerting me that my destination has been reached, and that I could depart to the residence of my humble relatives in the village of Sinuiju, which was a municipal city on the very edge of North Koreaand China. I stepped from the ancient vehicle and began the walk towards the village s center. There, I passed copious houses of plastered white structure and similar brown shingled roofs. Plantations were cultivated in modest amounts despite the frigid weather, and people looked as if they had fed on the crops. Up an inclination of crude concrete, positioned somewhat like gravel built stairs, I greeted joyful faces of my aunt and uncle. Kim Yeon, my nephew! It has been over fifteen years since we have seen you! laughed my aunt, grasping my shoulder and hugging me ever so close. Haha, yes it has Aunt Yom Hae Young. I replied, reciprocating the gesture with a toothy grin. Have you forgotten me Kim Yeon? He based his 1916 re election campaign around the slogan he kept us out of war , and had worked hard to broker a compromise peace. In early 1917 Berlin decided to launch all out submarine warfare designed to sink American ships bringing supplies to Britain; in the Zimmermann Telegram it proposed a military alliance with Mexico to fight a war against the US. The nation was poorly armed when it went to war in April 1917, but it had millions of potential fresh soldiers, billions of dollars, and huge supplies of raw materials needed by the Allies. Officially Wilson kept the US independent of the Allies. In 1918 Wilson took personal control of negotiations with Germany, including the armistice. He issued his Fourteen Points, his view of a post war world that could avoid another terrible conflict. It had an enormous impact on both sides in Europe, and made him the man of the hour in Paris. A leader of the Progressive Movement, he assembled a high powered group of academic advisors to help him in Paris but his distrustful personality led him to break with a series of close advisors, most notably Colonel House. He made a major blunder by refusing to bring along any prominent Republicans to Paris, which politicised the American debate and weakened his support. His main goal was a long term solution to end warfare based on the League of Nationsand self determination of
