Bogdanor Research Paper
Title: Discuss Bogdanor s opinion on the effect of the 2016 British Referendum on the sovereignty of
Parliament and its position of significance in history
Bogdanor refers to 2016 EU Referendum ( the Referendum ) as the most significant constitutional
event in history, emphasizing the sovereignty of the people when voting against Parliament and the
government. The first statement can be criticized due its emphatic approach to stress the effect of the
Referendum on Britain s future and its position in history. Bogdanor overemphasizes the significance
of the referendum both in law and history due to using a unique definition of sovereignty when
discussing the public s autonomy. He also misinterprets the relationship between the government ...

Legal sovereignty, having decisive power in the legal system of the state, has never been given to the
public at large. The public was not given legal power let alone legal power that surpasses that of
Parliament. Lord Reed in the dissenting judgement of Miller draws on Professor Wade s comment on
the ability of Parliamentary sovereignty to withstand even prerogative powers, which further
emphasizes the extent of legal sovereignty placed upon Parliament. Therefore, it is difficult to support
the existence of legal sovereignty in a public vote issued by Parliament. The people is not a body that

The Political Disaster of Watergate Essay
The political disaster of Watergate in the early 1970s marked the first time a president resigned.
Essentially, it began when a former Marine, Daniel Ellsberg, who no longer supported war in Vietnam,
leaked an analysis of American involvement there to The New York Times, starting in 1971. President
Richard Nixon, a very private man, demanded that these Pentagon Papers be kept secret in order to
prevent the public from finding out exactly what was going on. The scandal that followed ruined
Nixon and led Americans to be more critical of the politicians they put in power and to question their
leadership. Nixon wanted to prevent news articles from being published about the papers and their
conclusions for reasons of national security . He is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His identity was not revealed until 2005 , although there had been many suspicions. He told the
reporters about the federal government s role in the cover up of the scandal. Woodward was able to
discover, through conversations with CREEP employees, that $70,000 of funds had been used as
payoffs to the burglars. In March 1973, one of the burglars and a former CIA agent James McCord,
reported a list of those in the government who were involved with the break in and cover up. Two of
them were John Dean, who had been previously mentioned by FBI Director L. Patrick Gray, and Jeb
Magruder, who had been involved with Nixon s campaign. The Los Angeles Times and The
Washington Post both ran the story, facing lawsuits from Dean s lawyer. Dean testified that Nixon
knew about the cover up, and then Nixon refused to appear before the Senate Judicial Committee
based on executive privilege, which allows officials to keep information private if releasing it would
disrupt the function of the government. He had previously said that he would not invoke executive
privilege.
In the court case, one of Nixon s aides testified that there was a taping system in the Oval Office that
the president used to record all his conversations. Immediately afterwards, Nixon had the recorder
removed, and refused to submit the existing tapes as evidence. On August 15,

World War One Heritage And Remembrance
The war has always acted as a vicious muse for songwriters.
Since Antiquity, it has inspired a vast song repertoire, which has been able to describe tragic events in
a vivid and striking way.
Governments and rulers used and are still using music with propagandistic and mass control aims;
patriotic composers consecrate their works to glorify belligerent ideals and galvanise the troops, while
pacifist or subversive ones tries to condemn warfare.
Music is also extensively used after wars with commemorative goals or therapeutic objectives.
However, it is undoubtedly among common soldiers that music reveals its most authentic and frank
aspects.
Soldiers are indeed the only ones who live wars first hand, experiencing the tragedies of life on the
frontline and bluntly describing them.
The First World War is one of the historic events that have impressed the most the creative souls,
because of its inhumanity and momentous nature.
In fact, it is still source for a cultural and social debate in many countries, primarily Italy.
World War One heritage and remembrance is indeed a controversial topic for the Italian civil society:
during the last decades, its memory has been widely exploited by political opportunists and a sincere
and a truthful representation of the events is far to be portrayed.
In point of fact, one of the few reliable sources is embodied by soldiers songs.
This project aims indeed to recall the most significant examples of Italian soldiers and trenches songs

Native American Informative Speech
Introduction How might the United States look and be different if the Native Americans were able to
remain where they were and were able to continue their lives as they were? America would look and
be very different but there were things that led to this not being possible because of the removal of
most of the Indians. Such as, The Trail of Tears, The Battle of Wounded, and The Chief Joseph
Surrender Speech. All theses things played a role in the removal because they either got rid of the
indians, killed them, or left them with very miniscule amounts of land. The Battle of Wounded Knee
In January 1889 the Native Americans started a dance known as the ghost dance. The ghost dance was

Burton Chapter 4
One thematic motif that emerges in chapter 6 of Burton and chapter 4 of Olstein is the concept of
connections and genealogy. Specifically, in chapter 4 of Olstein, he discusses the use of comparing
and connecting as a historiographical methodology that has been both used and challenged by
historians since its creation. In addition, in chapter 6 of Burton, she is discussing genealogy or the
history of how X or Y came to be, was shaped, emerged (Burton, pg. 73). In other words, Burton
contextualizes genealogy by defining it as a backstory.
In chapter 4 of Olstein, he notes early in the chapter, that comparative history has been on the defense
since its institutionalization (Olstein, pg. 83). This demonstrates that this is a highly contested
historical methodology that is yet to be widely accepted by historians. This might have to do with
various historian s interpretations of what comparative and connective history means. For example,
Sanjay Subrahmanyan disagrees with Victor Lieberman s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, Subrahmanyan sees connective histories as, attentive to local, regional, supra regional, and
global interfaces (Olstein, pg. 84). In other words, Subrahmanyan sees Lierberman s work as merely
comparing and contrasting different regions and argues that there is greater importance in looking at
how each region is not only different but also are connected through various means, such as for trade.
Olstein quantifies comparative history by stating it must have at least two units to compare, and that
comparative history is quantitative more than conceptual (Olstein, pg. 88). Through this analysis of
two or more units, we see that comparative history is converging with another methodology that
Olstein discusses in other chapters, which is historical sociology. Olstein concludes his chapter by

How Did Gilgamesh Search For Eternal Life
The Epic of Gilgamesh
Rafael Soto
HIST 1111 World History 1
Question 1
The Epic of Gilgamesh is represented as a two thirds god and one third human. A king that went
through a lot of changes in his life, from Love, friendship, death and search for eternal life. As we can
see at the beginning Gilgamesh is a powerful king with no compassion for others, and after the death
of his best friend Enkidu he realizes that death is unavoidable. Gilgamesh start his journey in the
search for eternal immortality; but during his journey and the struggles that he endures he gains the
capacity and the compassion for others.
We can see his compassion when he retrieves the plant that grows under the water and lose it to a
snake.
Compassion:
By its virtue a man may win back all his former strength. I will take it to Uruk of the strong walls;
there I will give it to the old men to eat. Its name shall be The Old Men Are Young Again ; and at last I
shall eat it my self and have back my lost youth. (N.K. Sanders, Chap. 6, p22) ... Show more content

Then Gilgamesh sat down and wept, the tears ran down his face, and took the hand of Urshanabi; O

For myself I have gained nothing; not I, but the beast of the earth has joy now. (N.K. Sanders, Chap. 6,
p22)
Gilgamesh quest for immortality and failures to pass all the tasks show us that death is inevitable, but
what is important is the life that we leave behind, the deed that we have done in it and the impact that
we have make in others. At the end Gilgamesh gain his immortality not in flesh, but throughout

Essay Business Ethics
The stockholder and stakeholder theories are two popular frameworks used to examine the purpose of
business and its ethical obligations. With reference to the quote above, both theories seem rational and
enjoy strong support. However, a common failing of both is typically how humans interpret and
implement the theories in contemporary business environments. For instance, Enron was so focused
on the raising the price of their stock that they cooked the books to produce fake profits 1. This paper
will provide a description of each theory and, analyze ethical justifications and major objections to
each theory. The ethical justifications will be based on pertinent examples policies and actions, of
businesses such as Wal Mart. Based on this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stock chart below illustrates how Wal Mart, one of the companies seen as being stockholder
focused, has benefited its stockholders immensely over the last three decades. Ethical theories provide
adequate support for the stockholder theory as detailed below. Entitlement theory maintains that if
someone acquires resources by just means they are entitled to those resources. Stockholders who
acquire ownership of a business by investing in it are therefore the owners of the business and entitled
to its profits. The entitlement theory also states that benefiting other stakeholders at the expense of
stockholder dividends is akin to stealing. Year after year, it has been quoted that Wal Mart pays low
wages and appears to aggressively seek to keep wages down 2. In this respect, Wal Mart s policy on
employee wages seems to indicate that they respect the stockholder rights over those of their
employees. Utilitarianism theory holds the view that profit maximization directly or indirectly
maximizes benefits for the greatest number of people. Wal Mart uses its retail clout to bring the lowest
possible prices to its customers and the giant retailer is at least partly responsible for the low rate of
U.S. inflation 3. Wal Mart s legendary toughness in dealing with suppliers forces them to improve
every aspect of their operations and this can help profit growth with other customers as well. Desert

The Characteristics Of An Ideal Woman In Imperial China
In imperial Chinese history, women were largely confined to domestic roles. However, what
distinguished the Han dynasty was in the way they perceived ideal women. The elites tagged several
behavoural traits that they felt should be present in an ideal woman, and failure to achieve them would
cause possible abandonment of the woman. This implies that the power dynamics would place a
woman in a position in relation to elites of higher authority, and these elites are most often than not,
men. The same standard applies for most, if not all, women. In general, an ideal woman in the Han
dynasty would be perceived as subordinate to males and dutiful in obligations set out to her by society
or her male superiors. Yet, the subservience often created contradictions and complications that go
unaddressed by the male elites who impose them, creating a dilemma for women who might strive to
be ideal. This trend will be analysed throughout a woman s role as wife, mother and daughter.
Firstly, an ideal woman would be expected to commit to the household. Han dynasty elites firstly
assumed that a woman would take the roles of a wife and a mother in the family. An ideal woman was
to be a faithful wife, whereby she was to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Lamb To The Slaughter Theme Essay
Theme of Lamb to the Slaughter The more trust that you put in another person, the greater the effect
their betrayal has on you then, the greater the pain you feel. Nobody is going to be happy for example,
tricking a wife or a husband, a friend and relatives. At least try not to break a trust. Breaking a trust
and betray somebody is bad, and could lead you into trouble or a fight. In the story Lamb to the
Slaughter, author Roald Dahl creates a theme with breaking a trust to a friend or a relative. First, Dahl
begins creating betrayal in the story. The theme is shown for the first time in the Lamb to the
Slaughter. Patrick is telling the Mary that she will be surprised and not be excited if she hears what s

be said with certainty that this was the one major event that sparked the freeing of slaves of

American people about the concept of slavery. As I would really not consider #8220;The Fires of

for understanding how detrimental and harmful racism can be. After all, that was what the Civil Rights

whites had taken from them for so long, something in which they had taken for granted. In a sense,
this story about Nat #8217;s quest for freedom correlates with the concept of probably the most

How Did Malala Changed The World

Persuasive Essay Over School Lunches
There is much controversy over school lunches at PCEP, our sample of the students was almost
divided on the issue. In a survey of 80 students attending PCEP lasting from Monday to Thursday, we
found 35 Students (44%) bought school lunches. On the other end, 42 students brought lunch (52%).
We also found 1 person (1%) did not eat lunch and 2 (3%) said they only eat lunch sometimes.
Overall, the majority of student brought lunch.
Even though students said they do eat here at PCEP, that does not mean they actually enjoy their
lunch. A lot of people asked said that they do eat school lunches, but they could be better quality or
have a healthier variety. Out of those students who do buy lunches, about half do not enjoy them.

The Role Of Commercial Bank Operations Play Role On...
Introduction
Commercial Bank operations play crucial role in monetary policy transmission mechanism. This has
been studied extensively in the theoretical and empirical level. After the ground breaking research
study of Kashyap and Stein (2000), few research have conduct to explore diversity in bank lending
process as responses to monetary policy changes . However these empirical works are purely related
to credit channel that studies how the bank lending behavior changes with the monetary policy. Since
the outburst of the financial crisis in 2007, policy debates have focused on how to restore commercial
banks operations. In particular, governments of developed countries had conducted an extraordinary
monetary easing and capital injections into the banking system. Those policy initiatives were
primarily focused at recovering the functioning of the financial system and restoring commercial
banks lending. Last financial crisis episode shows inherent problem of asymmetric information faced
by the bank and how banks were penalized on their reaction to monetary policy. Fundamentally,
change in interest rates effect individual banks in different degree and creates distributional effects
across banking industry. The crisis demands analysis of research question on the risk taking channel of
monetary policy.
Literature Review
The role of the commercial banks in the transmission of monetary policy has been studied in both the
theoretical and prior empirical literature. These

The World Of A Plane Crash
In September of 2004, Lost first aired on ABC. The drama series about people stranded on an island
after a plane crash, had elements of science fiction that J.J Abrams used to captivate millions every
episode. The series starts by introducing the main characters, Jack and Kate, and their personal
backgrounds leading up to the commercial plane crash. However, as the series progresses, characters
once believed to have little impact in the show, are highlighted in a single episode and shed light on
topics never previously thought about. The 23rd Psalm, the tenth episode in season two, demonstrates
this aspect of the series very well. The science fiction characteristic of the series is toned down to
bring attention to the drug trading in Africa, specifically Nigeria. The 23rd Psalm attempts to inform
people around the world how organized crime in Nigeria has affected the lives of many who live there,
what they have to do to survive, and the sphere of influence drug trafficking has around the world. The
episode begins with Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje) finding out that Charlie Pace (Dominic
Monaghan) has in his possession a Virgin Mary statue. Eko demands to see the statue only to break in
open and revealing the heroin inside. Eko then demands that Charlie take him to the location where he
found the statue, which happens to be a small plane crash site farther inland on the island. The plane

Lord Byron s View Of Prometheus
For hundreds upon hundreds of years, writers have utilized poetry to express a certain feeling. To do
this, poets rely primarily on pathos to make the reader feel something and allow them to identify with
the poet himself. Master of establishing mood, which Merriam Webster defines as, a distinctive
atmosphere or context, Lord Byron never fails to communicate his exact thoughts. With the precision
and accuracy of a surgeon, he manipulates words and sentences to say exactly what he means nothing
more, nothing less. Lord Byron uses words to convey his reverence of and thanksgiving towards
Prometheus, ad his hatred of Zeus.

Fifteen By William Stafford Analysis
Fifteen, by William Stafford is a free verse poem about age. In the poem he talks about being a fifteen
year old boy in which he refers to himself as South on the ridge on Seventeenth (Stafford Line 1).
Where he means that he is not yet seventeen, but he is almost there. He was taking a walk one day
during the summer when he came across a motorcycle with the engine still running. He picks up the
motorcycle and observed it with much awe. He was very fond of the motorcycle, he admired it very
much. He imagined taking off on the motorcycle, then in the grass next to him, he saw the owner of

Stafford s idea was very vivid. It started out in the first line of the poem. South of the bridge of
Seventeenth (Stafford Line 1), which I stated previously. He described where he was on the roads,
while also making a play on words by describing his age stance. He is a fifteen year old boy, as many
can tell by the name of the poem. He farther asserted his idea with this initial opening line, stating that
he is under seventeen years old, but he is close to crossing the bridge to being seventeen. Following
after, more into the poem he talks about discovering a motorcycle on the side of the road with the
engine still running. He grabs the motorcycle and grasps the handles as if he is about to take off. I
admired all that pulsing gleam, the shiny flanks, the demure headlights fringed where it lay (Stafford
Line 6 8). He became particularly attracted to the motorcycle, as if it were an actual human, like a
friend. The overall theme clarify s the aging process, he is fifteen, but closer to seventeen. Every event
in the poem shows his still younger, naive side. The naive feelings comply to the fact that he is only
fifteen. The line I was fifteen was repeated several times to push the theme into the readers

Using Data From The British Election Study
This paper is a research project that uses data from the British Election Study. The study has responses
from 2987 participants selected at random for the survey. The survey asks a variety of questions
regarding the elections and the perceptions of the participants. The questions include responses for
voting preferences, issues faced in the elections of 2015, inclination of the voter towards left or right,
taxation and spending views, views of respondents regarding immigration, economic status and so
forth. The response scales used are close ended with multiple choice and Likert scale questions on a
scale of one to ten being used. Due to the large amount of data and the variety of information asked,
this report will restrict itself to testing a few hypotheses, which will be targeted towards specific areas,
and which can be proved or disproved through use of cross tabulation analysis based on data obtained
in the survey. It has been noted that the economic status of a voter tends to impact the political
leanings of the voter. It was noted in a survey carried out in the USA that wage levels were an
indicator of voter preferences where people who earned less than $70,000 noted to lean towards the
liberal, Democratic Party, while those who earned more tended to be more conservative in leaning
towards the Republican Party (Thompson, 2012). Another study conducted in Malaysia concluded that
voters consider the economic conditions of the country before voting for a government, and

Comparing Black Elk Speaks and The Lone Ranger and Tonto FistFight in Heaven
Traditionally, Native American Literature has been an oral genre. Although Native American
Literature was the first American literature created, it has been the last to be recognized and, to some
extent, is still waiting for full recognition (www.usc.edu). With the Indian being forced to assimilate,
their literature was forced to take on a written form. Although the traditional way of storytelling has
changed, Native American Literature has survived. In it s written form, it is being shared with a larger
population. Black Elk Speaks (Neihardt 1932) and The Lone Ranger and Tonto FistFight in Heaven

In the story The Trial of Thomas Builds the Fire, Thomas is put on trial for unnamed crimes. In his
testimony, he assumes several personae, including the voice of one of 800 ponies captured and
slaughtered by the U.S. Cavalry. He is also Qualchan and Wild Coyote, telling stories of murder,
extermination, and dispossession (Whitson, 132). This shows that the Indian still holds on to the hurt
and loss they have suffered. They cannot and will not forget what their ancestors went through to
survive.
Another area the two books share is humor. Humor is needed in order to cope with loss and move
forward. Although we see more humor in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, Black Elk
Speaks has some humorous stories. For example, I found the story of High Horse s Courting very
humorous. High Horse wants to take a young Indian maiden for his wife. He goes to her father and
offers him two horses for the girl. The old man waves him off. He goes back and offers four horses.
Still, the old man is not impressed. High Horse wants his girl so bad that he goes out and steals about a
hundred horses. High Horse proved himself and got the girl. It was not the horses her father wanted,
but he wanted a son who was a real man and

Literary Devices Used In The Book Thief
Words can light fires in the minds of men (Patrick Rothfuss). Author, Markus Zusak, in his novel The
Book Thief, narrates as Death to show the story of Liesel Meminger, a girl living in World War Two
Nazi Germany. Zusak uses literary devices to depict a theme of how words can change the world in
order to show their effect on people.
First, Markus Zusak uses metaphors help enhance the theme to the reader. Zusak uses a Word Shakers
as a metaphor for people like Liesel, who use words to influence people in various ways. The best

Zusak alludes to the many book burnings that took place in Nazi Germany to show what people
thought of words, and how powerful they really are. Nazi s were gathering fuel... Liesel was witness
to men and women knocking on doors, asking people if they had material that they felt should be done

Germany thought of words and what they did to the mind. Zusak uses an allusion to Adolf Hitler
himself to show how powerful his words were to the citizens of Germany and how they influenced
them. Without words, the Fuhrer was nothing (Zusak 521). Here, the narrator Death is speaking about
Hitler and that if he never spoke those words he did, if he never rose to power, the world wouldn t be

they do. Zusak uses an allusion to Adolf Hitler s own novel Mein Kompf to show the Nazi
governments drilled words into the citizen s heads through the book. In return, he received a used

The American Election Process Is Good For The Country
The American Election Process Ever since the early beginning of America standing as its own
individual free country, we annually elect a new leader to run our country for a 4 year term. Every new
time to elect a new president, Americans are pressured to go out and vote for their leader that they
want to run the country. Somewhere through the many years and elections, people have begun to

every four years, it provokes people into exercising their basic right to vote, and it helps always elect a
new candidate over having a single leader for life.
Throughout the history of America, a lot of things have happened for Americans to be able to elect
their leader. The Revolutionary war was the pinnacle point as it was the war that separated America
from the control of Great Britain and is what landed America as a country of its own and not to be

their leaders, it only let a specific person to elect a leader, specifically white male land owners. Next
came the civil war which was fought to free African American slaves from the hand of the
Confederate States of America, which wanted to succeed from the north and keep slavery as they

URL is the abbreviation of Uniform Resource Locator. Some call it as Universal Resource Locator. It
is a web address. It refers to a web resource that specifies its location on a computer networking and a

The Oracle defined it as a pointer to a resource on the World Wide Web. It agrees that URL is a web

Elizabethan London Essay
Elizabethan London
From 1558 1603, Queen Elizabeth I was the ruler of England. This time period is known as the
Elizabethan Era, or The Golden Age, as this was the time of the expansion of creativity and originality.
In London during this time, many changes and advancements were taking place that would soon set
out in areas all across the regions and soon spreading across the world. The advancements in science,
the international expansion, the protestant reformation, and the works of William Shakespeare and his
contribution to the flowering of the arts were a few of the fundamental changes that helped alter the
history of the world that followed Elizabethan London. Elizabethan London was the home to many
advancements made to the scientific community. The part it played in the developments of science
paved the way for the scientific revolution that came in the next era. While there were many important
men in the era who contributed greatly to science, such as Nicolaus Copernicus, Galileo Galilei, and
Johannes Kepler, there were some other forerunners of the scientific revolution. Two of those men
were William Gilbert and Francis Bacon. William Gilbert was an English physician who practiced in
London for thirty years. In the words of John Gribbin, author of The Fellowship, [Gilbert] deserves

All men were created equal. It is for this reason that gays have the same rights when it comes to

then, if gays have the same rights as heterosexual men and women, why can they not be legally

of U.S citizens oppose gay marriage. However, extraordinarily, 75% of the people in the U.S are all

in their reasoning for the banning of gay marriage. A slippery slope argument is a point in which one

consequences from one single action. In this case, the argument at hand would be that along with the
legalization of gay marriage comes the allowing of bestial marriage, polygamy, and many other
wrongs (Bidstrup). This tactic of scaring people of accepting the beneficial consequences of one
rational decision is absurd. In countries where gay marriage is legal, there has been no talk of any such
changes or disgusting tendencies. In many Scandinavian countries where same sex marriages are
allowed, society has remained sound (Bidstrup). If anything, marriages between criminals and those
who lack morals would lead towards the anarchy that would occur with bestial marriages and
polygamy. Those who have homosexual preferences do not share any of the same moral defects as do
the criminals that can wed freely. Society needs to open their eyes to the normality of homosexuality
and the benefits of gay marriage will be exposed. There are those who believe that gay marriage
defeats the purpose of the bonding between two different gendered people in reproduction. The idea

of Professor John Nash, A Beautiful Mind, the notion that one s consolidated reality can succumb to
other s influence is profoundly illustrated. Professor John Nash suffers from schizophrenia, and hence
has illusions of people that do not exist. Though he had been strongly convinced that these people do
not exist, he still sees them. However, he acknowledges them to be non existent and a figment of his
imagination. This poignantly expounds the strength of impact that other s influence has on one s
interpretation of reality and indeed strongly disproves the idea that Seeing is Believing . Though

Title:
What is the effect of temperature, pH, and substrate concentration on Enzyme activity?
Purpose:
Enzymes are proteins that speed up chemical reactions in cells. They break down molecules called
substrates. Each enzymes have only one substrate that breaks down. Enzymes are produced in the cells
of the body and affect the rate of almost all the chemical reactions which take place in living
organisms. The rate of enzymes activity is influenced by temperature, pH, and substrate concentration.
The purpose of this lab was to determine the affects of enzyme activity under specific temperature
changes, pH values and substrate concentration. Since heat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Network Requirements Of Many Small Organizations
The networking requirements of many small organizations can be served by a single LAN with one or
two servers. The design of a small network should be simplistic, but practical, reliable and scalable. A
good LAN network must easily expand as the business grows, even if the scale of the original
environment is small. Avoid making technology judgments that might limit the company as it grows. I
will deal with the physical and logical design of a LAN by building a network in a test laboratory,
consisting of computers, an Appliance Security Appliance (ASA) 5505 firewall and switches. Network
will consist of Fiber Optic Cable Modem, Nodes, Communication Media, Networking Devices A
security policy will be in place, or updated to reflect the goals of the company. Redundant Firewalls
with VPNle Communication media (copper cable to connect to the internet, fiber cable) Switch:
Switches connect multiple devices, including computers and printers, on the same network. Router is
attached to a switch# routers connect a network to other networks, such as the Internet. They shield
data from security threats using technologies such as firewalls and virtual private networks (VPNs).
They can even decide which computers get preference over others. A workstation connected to a
switch Storage server ( server with hard disk) The server will be acting as a print server backup

Oxfam Mission Statement
Mission, Vision, and Values
Dustin M. Wimbish
American Military University
Mission, Vision, and Values An organization s vision is based on what it feels is possible to achieve,
all about the potential it possesses. The organization s mission is the process it employs to make that
vision a reality. An organization s values are the fundamental principles that are established by the
stakeholders in an effort to guide the organization. An organization s core values must match up with
the mission and its vision to contribute to the overall success of the organization. The core values are
what management practices and expect the employees to practice as well in order to fulfill the
company mission and achieve its vision. This paper will present ... Show more content on

It provides direction to let the employees and stakeholders know where the company is going . When
forming a vision, the leadership must be realistic about their market, competition, economic climate,
and regulatory conditions and properly ascertain and espouse the values of management, employees,
and stakeholders (Schoemaker, 1992). A company s mission is its statement that communicates the
purpose of the organization. It gives the who, what, and why of the business. This successful
completion of the strategic planning and execution process allows for the public and the organization s
members to see that the vision was established to be reality and not simply rhetoric, as is the case with
many organizations that suffers from confrontations between management and a lack of commitment
to the organization s vision and values (Fiegener, Brown, Prince File,1996). The three organizations
listed all took steps towards strategic planning and execution in the formation of their vision, mission,
and values statements. Creating The Future was by far the poorest example of strategic planning and
execution. Their mission, vision and values are too ambiguous to properly inform or inspire its
members or supporters. On the other end of the spectrum, Oxfam and The Diaper Bank have strong,
clear visions, and mission and they are supported by a good set of core

Essentially, it began when a former Marine, Daniel Ellsberg, who no longer supported war in Vietnam, leaked an analysis of American involvement there to The New York Times, starting in 1971. President Richard Nixon, a very private man, demanded that these Pentagon Papers be kept secret in order to prevent the public from finding out exactly what was going on. In March 1973, one of the burglars and a former CIA agent James McCord, reported a list of those in the government who were involved with the break in and cover up. • 8. World War One Heritage And Remembrance The war has always acted as a vicious muse for songwriters. Since Antiquity, it has inspired a vast song repertoire, which has been able to describe tragic events in a vivid and striking way. Governments and rulers used and are still using music with propagandistic and mass control aims; patriotic composers consecrate their works to glorify belligerent ideals and galvanise the troops, while pacifist or subversive ones tries to condemn warfare. Music is also extensively used after wars with commemorative goals or therapeutic objectives. However, it is undoubtedly among common soldiers that music reveals its most authentic and frank aspects. Soldiers are indeed the only ones who live wars first hand, experiencing the tragedies of life on the frontline and bluntly describing them. The First World War is one of the historic events that have impressed the most the creative souls, because of its inhumanity and momentous nature. In fact, it is still source for a cultural and social debate in many countries, primarily Italy. World War One heritage and remembrance is indeed a controversial topic for the Italian civil society: during the last decades, its memory has been widely exploited by political opportunists and a sincere and a truthful representation of the events is far to be portrayed. In point of fact, one of the few reliable sources is embodied by soldiers songs. This project aims indeed to recall the most significant examples of Italian soldiers and trenches songs to ... Native American Informative Speech Introduction How might the United States look and be different if the Native Americans were able to remain where they were and were able to continue their lives as they were? America would look and be very different but there were things that led to this not being possible because of the removal of most of the Indians. Such as, The Trail of Tears, The Battle of Wounded, and The Chief Joseph Surrender Speech. Specifically, in chapter 4 of Olstein, he discusses the use of comparing and connecting as a historiographical methodology that has been both used and challenged by historians since its creation. In addition, in chapter 6 of Burton, she is discussing genealogy or the history of how X or Y came to be, was shaped, emerged (Burton, pg. 73). In other words, Burton contextualizes genealogy by defining it as a backstory. In chapter 4 of Olstein, he notes early in the chapter, that comparative history has been on the defense since its institutionalization (Olstein, pg. 83). The stock chart below illustrates how Wal Mart, one of the companies seen as being stockholder focused, has benefited its stockholders immensely over the last three decades. Ethical theories provide adequate support for the stockholder theory as detailed below. Entitlement theory maintains that if someone acquires resources by just means they are entitled to those resources. Stockholders who acquire ownership of a business by investing in it are therefore the owners of the business and entitled to its profits. The entitlement theory also states that benefiting other stakeholders at the expense of stockholder dividends is akin to stealing. Year after year, it has been quoted that Wal Mart pays low wages and appears to aggressively seek to keep wages down 2. In this respect, Wal Mart s policy on employee wages seems to indicate that they respect the stockholder rights over those of their employees. Utilitarianism theory holds the view that profit maximization directly or indirectly maximizes benefits for the greatest number of people. Wal Mart uses its retail clout to bring the lowest possible prices to its customers and the giant retailer is at least partly responsible for the low rate of U.S. inflation 3. However, what distinguished the Han dynasty was in the way they perceived ideal women. The elites tagged several behavoural traits that they felt should be present in an ideal woman, and failure to achieve them would cause possible abandonment of the woman. This implies that the power dynamics would place a woman in a position in relation to elites of higher authority, and these elites are most often than not, men. The same standard applies for most, if not all, women. In general, an ideal woman in the Han dynasty would be perceived as subordinate to males and dutiful in obligations set out to her by society or her male superiors. Yet, the subservience often created contradictions and complications that go unaddressed by the male elites who impose them, creating a dilemma for women who might strive to be ideal. This trend will be analysed throughout a woman s role as wife, mother and daughter. Firstly, an ideal woman would be expected to commit to the household. This has been studied extensively in the theoretical and empirical level. After the ground breaking research study of Kashyap and Stein (2000), few research have conduct to explore diversity in bank lending process as responses to monetary policy changes . However these empirical works are purely related to credit channel that studies how the bank lending behavior changes with the monetary policy. Since the outburst of the financial crisis in 2007, policy debates have focused on how to restore commercial banks operations. In particular, governments of developed countries had conducted an extraordinary monetary easing and capital injections into the banking system. Those policy initiatives were primarily focused at recovering the functioning of the financial system and restoring commercial banks lending. • 28. Using Data From The British Election Study This paper is a research project that uses data from the British Election Study. The study has responses from 2987 participants selected at random for the survey. The survey asks a variety of questions regarding the elections and the perceptions of the participants. The questions include responses for voting preferences, issues faced in the elections of 2015, inclination of the voter towards left or right, taxation and spending views, views of respondents regarding immigration, economic status and so forth. The response scales used are close ended with multiple choice and Likert scale questions on a scale of one to ten being used. Due to the large amount of data and the variety of information asked, this report will restrict itself to testing a few hypotheses, which will be targeted towards specific areas, and which can be proved or disproved through use of cross tabulation analysis based on data obtained in the survey. It has been noted that the economic status of a voter tends to impact the political leanings of the voter. It was noted in a survey carried out in the USA that wage levels were an indicator of voter preferences where people who earned less than $70,000 noted to lean towards the liberal, Democratic Party, while those who earned more tended to be more conservative in leaning towards the Republican Party (Thompson, 2012). Comparing Black Elk Speaks and The Lone Ranger and Tonto FistFight in Heaven Traditionally, Native American Literature has been an oral genre. Although Native American Literature was the first American literature created, it has been the last to be recognized and, to some extent, is still waiting for full recognition (www.usc.edu). With the Indian being forced to assimilate, their literature was forced to take on a written form. Although the traditional way of storytelling has changed, Native American Literature has survived. He is also Qualchan and Wild Coyote, telling stories of murder, extermination, and dispossession (Whitson, 132). This shows that the Indian still holds on to the hurt and loss they have suffered. They cannot and will not forget what their ancestors went through to survive. Another area the two books share is humor. Humor is needed in order to cope with loss and move forward. Although we see more humor in The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, Black Elk Speaks has some humorous stories. For example, I found the story of High Horse s Courting very humorous. High Horse wants to take a young Indian maiden for his wife. He goes to her father and offers him two horses for the girl. The old man waves him off. He goes back and offers four horses. Still, the old man is not impressed. High Horse wants his girl so bad that he goes out and steals about a hundred horses. High Horse proved himself and got the girl. In this case, the argument at hand would be that along with the legalization of gay marriage comes the allowing of bestial marriage, polygamy, and many other wrongs (Bidstrup). This tactic of scaring people of accepting the beneficial consequences of one rational decision is absurd. In countries where gay marriage is legal, there has been no talk of any such changes or disgusting tendencies. In many Scandinavian countries where same sex marriages are allowed, society has remained sound (Bidstrup). If anything, marriages between criminals and those who lack morals would lead towards the anarchy that would occur with bestial marriages and polygamy. Those who have homosexual preferences do not share any of the same moral defects as do the criminals that can wed freely. Society needs to open their eyes to the normality of homosexuality and the benefits of gay marriage will be exposed.
