Summary Of Words Left Unspoken By Leah Hager Cohen
In Leah Hager Cohen s, essay Words Left Unspoken , the author begins her story with a special
memory she had as a child with her grandfather and their ability to communicate with each other and
not let his inability to speak hinder their relationship. Cohen uses a variety of descriptive words
throughout the essay makes the reader usage of their other senses, feel they are part of the memories.
Cohen begins her essay with the sense of sight describing her earliest memory of her grandfather s
looks, his face and pointed chin with whiskers that he brushed against her smooth skin. This was his
special greeting to her, to initiate their non verbal conversation, leading to the usage of another sense,
hearing. Using adjectives to describe his many

King Henry s Madness
One of the more underlying causes of the Wars of the Roses was King Henry s madness. King Henry
VI had never been a perfect ruler, often making poor decisions because his wife or favourites wanted
him to, but in August 1453, after the loss of Bordeaux to France at the end of the 100 Years War,
Henry suffered a mental breakdown. He was oblivious to everything going on around him, could not
feed or bathe himself, and did not even respond to the birth of his son. He may have inherited the
same psychiatric condition his grandfather Charles VI of France had, which included bouts of
madness in his later years, and Some medical historians have diagnosed his condition, on the evidence
available, as catatonic schizophrenia complete mental withdrawal ... Show more content on

During medieval times, a knight was expected to be loyal to those above him, and come serve them
when it was time to fight, and The great peers of the kingdom could call upon minor lords in their
dominions to come fight on their side, under one banner, but they all rallied towards the King, and
disobeying him was extremely frowned upon (Jokinen). Near the end of the middle ages, this loyalty
became a system known as Livery and Maintenance, and contributed greatly to the military aspects of
the Wars of the Roses. Livery and Maintenance was the practice of keeping large numbers of knights
on reserve, essentially a lord s personal standing army. These knights would wear the Lord s badge
and livery, which, in addition to payment for their service, gave them a sort of prestige, as long as their
lord was powerful. Since Lords could raise their own private armies, they had the choice to refuse
support to the king if they did not like him. This was a massive change in the structure of feudalism,
as standing up against the King was generally impossible without an army. The houses of Lancaster
and York would not have gotten anywhere against each other without the help of powerful landowners
like Richard Neville, sometimes called The Kingmaker. Livery and Maintenance gave the Noble class
the ability to fight for who they wanted on the throne, whether a York, or a

Celiac Disease

Celiac Disease
Dascha C. Weir, MD
Ciaran Kelly, MD
Celiac disease (CD) is an immune mediated enteropathy secondary to permanent sensitivity to wheat
gluten and related proteins in rye and barley. It results in characteristic histologic changes consisting
of inflammation, crypt hyperplasia, and villous atrophy of the small intestine in genetically susceptible
individuals. Significant variability in the clinical presentation of
CD in the pediatric population complicates recognition of the disease in many patients. Treatment for
CD consists of a lifelong strict gluten free diet (GFD). Adherence to this diet is associated with
resolution of most related signs and symptoms and a decreased risk of related complications. With an

How Is Sherlock Holmes Work To Be Scientific
Do you consider Holmes work to be scientific? We believe that Sherlock Holmes is approaching
problems with mostly educated guesswork and only announces his findings/thoughts when he has
provided scientific, legitimate proof. For example, he suspected it was Stapleton before he knew any
evidence. It wasn t until he saw the picture, it resemblance to stapleton, and stapletons confusing past
that he fully knew it was Stapleton. He also used educated guesswork when pretending he was in
London. He thought that it would be easier to figure things out and when he came up with his
hypothesis, he could get real evidence from Watson. Lastly, he also uses educated guesswork when
examining the stick. He believes it is a small dog who left the bites and only announces what he thinks
when he saw Mr. Mortimer s small dog. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sherlock Holmes. He, Dr. Brown, states that one s past knowledge applies to the current case, which is
a method Holmes utilizes. When he uses his knowledge of the past when solving his present case, it
can be shown when Holmes found the note to Sir Henry. Holmes could point out that the letters were
from the Times because he read the times before; and, he knew that a woman wrote it because he saw
that the handwriting of the word moor was neat and nice, like a woman s handwriting should be. Also,
Holmes most likely has seen a woman s handwriting before, which caused him to think it was a

King Leopold s Ghost Analysis
King Leopold s Ghost a story of greer, terror and heroism in colonial africa written by Adam
Hochschild, reveals the hidden horror in the Congo. Hochschild conveys the exploitation of the Congo
Free State by King Leopold II of Belgium from 1885 to 1908, as well as the revolting brutality during
that period. Hochschild discloses how King Leopold II s unpleasant and atrocious capacity of
maliciousness is shown through mass killings and colonization of Congolese land. The Ghost of King
Leopold II still plagues the world while he is celebrated as a great humanitarian. (use own words).
Part One: Walking Into Fire In the first part of Hochschild s book, he describes the actions and desires
that led King Leopold to seize the Congo Free State, the rules he broke and how he manipulated the
nations with his righteousness of combating slavery even though figured such as George Williams and
____ began speaking out against him. Hochschild describes King Leopold II as rude, revolting and
awkward as he was growing up. His characteristics only began to drift towards persuasive and
cunning when he discovered his curiosity in the colonization of new land. Conveniently, many
European countries had no interest in colonization. When Leopold gained power, and searched for his
lovely colony, their ambivalence resulted in him creating a colony on his own account. Leopold never
actually stepped foot in Congo, he had used explorers such as Stanley Mortan and other white men to
establish the colony for him. To sneakily undergo his objectives without other countries noticing, he
created organizations in which he could operate under. For instance, the International African
Association to stop the outspread of slavery. Leopold additionally hosted conference meetings to
speak on human rights. If he was to seize anything in Africa, he could do so only if he convinced
everyone that his interest was purely altruistic . (46) King Leopold succeeded at convincing every one
of his goodwill, that he was supported financially from the Belgian government in introducing free
trade and religion in the Congo. Overall, King Leopold had invaded the Congo to have his own land,
sending Stanley exploring and killing during his journey of the

Failures of Blockbuster Essay
Blockbuster Incorporation Blockbuster was the largest movie rental chain in the Movies industry
around the world (Biesada a). According to Rourke, Rothburd and Stansell (2006), Blockbuster
mainly focused on providing in home rental, retail movie, and game entertainment . It created 9,100
video stores and provided services to almost three million of customers in America and 24 other
countries (p. 74). In 2010, the company filed for bankruptcy since it failed to adapt new technology in
their strategies, and was sold to satellite TV service provider DISH Network in 2011 (Biesada b).

Based on the Form 10 K (2010), Blockbuster stated that: Our level of indebtedness may make it more
difficult for us to pay our debts as they become due and more necessary for us to divert our cash flow
from operations to debt service payments (p. 22). At the end of 2009, their long term debt went up to
855.9 million of dollars (Form 10 K, p.40). One of the factors that negatively affected Blockbuster s
income and cash flow due to their debt obligation was the payment due date. It made even more
difficult for Blockbuster to pay off the debts when the company faced economic downturns. The
decrease in revenue made Blockbuster s obligation and interest higher. Due to this fact, the company
had a limited fund to contribute their strategy and operation. While their revenue decreased and debt
increased, Blockbuster gradually lost their ability to remain the war price as low as others. The
company ended up going bankrupt. The first failure of Blockbuster s strategies, which lead it to
bankruptcy, was the negative relationship with their consumers. While Netflix s chief executive, Reed
Hastings, recognized the technology had been grown rapidly and would change the transmission of
movie rental industry, Blockbuster s CEO, James Keyes, believed that consumers would still prefer to
the brick and mortar rental structure. Thus, Keyes planned to focus on expanding Blockbuster s stores
into various departments

looks like he s staying put, at least that s the overwhelming feeling. Regardless, the Lakers are likely
to go after a big with a big name. On their list (as well on the list of many others) are LaMarcus

After trading Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith to Cleveland midseason and shipping of Tim Hardaway
Jr. for Jerian Grant, the Knicks will look to add a guard with both shooting and perimeter defensive
abilities. Phil Jackson and co. will be looking to sign the likes of Arron Afflalo, Danny Green, and
Wesley Matthews. If New York can secure one of these guys and a big man for the right money, it ll be
a successful offseason. Bucks The Bucks are looking to make a splash at the center position, rightfully
so. After losing Larry Sanders to life (in all fairness, props to Larry Sanders

being Zaza Pechulia, the Bucks will like to add a starter to balance their roster. Their main target being
DeAndre Jordan (but, really, Jordan isn t leaving Hollywood for Wisconsin) followed by every big
man in free agency. They ll be willing to spend big money on players like Brook Lopez, Tyson
Chandler, and Greg Monroe, whereas other teams are less likely to do so. Which mean the Bucks
could make the big splash that they hope to.

U.s. Vietnam War On American Culture, Politics, And...
Regarded as one of the most controversial and polarizing military conflicts in U.S. history, the
Vietnam War has left a deep and lasting impact on American culture, politics, and foreign policy. From
1964 to the present day, the Vietnam War redefined the scope of U.S. influence both at home and
abroad, and caused a fundamental shift in American society that dramatically changed the way in
which Americans viewed their government and the role of the United States as a world power. For an
entire generation of Americans, who watched as the horrors of the war in Vietnam unfold before the
spotlight of the national media, the Vietnam War directly challenged the superiority of the American
way and the infallibility of U.S military dominance. In truth, the U.S government, U.S. military, and
the American people as a whole struggled to accept the lessons of America s greatest military failure
and the sobering reality of the war s consequences. To this day, the legacy of this so called American
War continues to resonate throughout the fabric of American society as a cautionary tale of U.S
foreign intervention and blind acceptance of open ended conflict.
For the United States government, the failure of U.S intervention in Vietnam provided lessons about
where and under what circumstances the United States should intervene in foreign conflicts.
Throughout the mid twentieth century, U.S. foreign policy was characterized by the idea of
containment . Coined by George Kennan in 1946,

A Modest Proposal Essay
Have You Eaten Yet?: Swift s Final Solution
amp;#9;As a lately favored eighteenth century essay, Jonathan Swift s amp;quot;Proposal amp;quot;
has been canonized as a satirical model of wit. As will be discussed shortly, Swift s essay is often seen
as an allegory for England s oppression of Ireland. Swift, himself and Irishman (Tucker 142), would
seem to have pointed his razor wit against the foreign nation responsible for his city s ruin. Wearing
the lens of a New Historicist, however, requires that we reexamine the power structures at work in
Swift s society. We must delve into not only Swift s amp;quot;Proposal, amp;quot; but also into other

The Importance Of My Experience At A College Band Camp
Have you ever spent a week at a college band camp? Unfortunately, it does not resemble the iconic
scene from the classic film, American Pie. This narrative depicts why I decided to attend Southwestern
rather than other colleges such as Oklahoma State University, University of Oklahoma, and Wichita
State University. My fellow band friends and I took a three hour journey to Weatherford from
Blackwell to attend the Southwestern Band Camp for four days. As soon as we reached our
destination, I realized that this was where I wanted to be. When I stepped out of the cramped car, a
cool breeze blew across my face. On this ninety four degree mid summer day, band kids were walking
aimlessly trying to find the correct building to go to. As for myself, I knew exactly where to go. Check
in was at 1PM in the Oklahoma Hall and luckily for us, I had scoped out the campus on Google maps
to try and figure everything out. I knew once we exited the car that we needed to cross the street and
head towards the building that looked like an x . Once we had checked in and placed our suitcases
placed in the assigned dorms, we got our instruments out and headed towards the Fine Arts building.
Auditions were separated by the type of instrument you played. Unfortunately, I had to separate from
my friends since I played the bass clarinet and they played the saxophone. I had lost my way several
times. Students were pacing the hallways and loud jabber between fellow instrumentalists about the

Christian Meditation On God And Spending Time Essay
Every now I then I receive a letter from a subscriber on the best way to incorporate Christian
meditation into their daily devotion time with God. Including Christian meditation, into your daily
schedule can make your life so much more rewarding and fulfilling. There are numerous benefits to
meditating on God and spending time in His presence. These include developing a more intimate
relationship with Christ, eliminating worry and stress, creating a space for God to speak to our hearts,
and becoming more sensitive to the Holy Spirit to name a few.
I have tried many, many different schedules for my Morning Devotion over the years, but the one I am
about to share with you has been the best one for me. By Morning Devotion I mean the time I take
each morning before I leave for the job or work on my business. The days that I skip these activities
are usually marked with anxiety and frustration. I have reasoned that if I m too busy for God and
myself, then I m just too busy and that busyness and chaos usually ends up being a theme throughout
my entire day.
God created us spirit, soul, and body and He doesn t want us to neglect any of these areas. We neglect
our bodies when we eat poorly and don t exercise. We neglect our mind or soul when we feed it with
mental junk food instead of uplifting literature or spiritual delights, and we neglect our spirit when we
don t spend time with God being restored, renewed, and renovated. So instead of thinking just,

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound ( Hifu ) Therapy System,...
ABSTRACT In High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) therapy system, electrical impedance
matching networks should be used between the ultrasound transducer and signal generator in order to
maximize the electrical power transmission. Impedance matching networks are designed based on LC
resonant networks and that can be analyzed by analytical design theory and smith chart design
technique. Graphical method using smith chart is adapted to understand the concept. The reflective
power should be reduced after successfully matching the electrical circuit. However, the problem with
our case, HIFU transducer has been observed with significant amount of reflective during LC
matching network; that reflective power has to be reduced as much as possible. In order to eliminate
reflective power we tried transformer matching instead of LC network and we are getting desired
output. Even after that, we are getting slightly change over working resonance frequency which is not
optimum for highly focused ultrasound transducer application or any other application. However, if
we propose broadband matching network for transducer matching then we can increase the range of
working frequency and we can compensate that problem. To conclude, transmission power can be
increased by implementing broadband electrical matching networks. In this paper, I discuss the
characteristics and different applications of piezoelectric material and how matching is an important to

The Negative Effects Of Advertising And Its Effects On Women
Picture this you re watching your favorite show and then all of a sudden this pops up IT WILL
LITERALLY MAKE YOU SKINNY IN LITERALLY 2 HOURS! ONLY $19.99 AND IF YOU
ORDER NOW YOU LL GET 2 FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!!! I bet you can literally picture it and
hear it perfectly but this is the problem with are advertising. Advertising is a big part of our culture but
it s taken a toll on our people including the children. Advertising has effects on our people s bodies,
self esteem, and is manipulative.
First, advertisements have a toll on the people especially women and children. Women are affected by
the fact that the models used must be so skinny and this makes woman self conscious. Parallels are
frequently drawn between the decreasing size of the female body ideal and both escalating levels of
women s body dissatisfaction and increases in the incidence of eating disorders There is now growing
empirical support for the view that these images play a role in fueling women s body dissatisfaction. (
Halliwell and Dittmar 105 106) This shows that advertisements make woman feel self conscious and
cause an unhealthy effect on the bodies of woman. Internalization of sociocultural attitudes toward
thinness and appearance moderated the impact of advertising on women s body focused anxiety.
(Halliwell and Dittmar 119). This further proves the point that advertisements cause effects to the
body because anxiety can stress the body out which isn t healthy and can also cause you to be sick.

Pak Muhamad Sukma s Going Home
According to Pak Muhamad Sukma, the author of Going Home believes that education is more than
having a high paying job. It is taking the knowledge you have acquired and trying to make a change
out of it. Sukma used to think that education is the training needed to get a high paying job. Then a
protest occurred in his country, this occurrence allowed him to be awaken with new found knowledge.
The protests were about the price increase and an economic crisis, ever since that it has expanded his
relatively simplistic view of the world. Leading him to understand that education can play a major role
in society, even if it has a small difference. I agree with Sukma s statement about education because
education is more than the amount of money ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 10th grade I saw Spike Lee s biopic of Malcolm X. From that movie, I learned that Malcolm X
was one of the most influential African Americans in history, but he wasn t always like that. Before he
became an American Muslim Minister, he was a lowlife scoundrel. This all changed when he went to
prison and increased his knowledge. He acquired more knowledge, which led him to understand there
are issues that should be fixed. This led Malcolm X to help the population of African Americans
understand that supremacy and racism exist amongst them. Malcolm X believed that people should be
treated equally, and be given equal rights just like their counterparts. This influenced people to be
more aware of their environment and protest on the problems they face. Eventually, this movement
made the government guarantee that African Americans should be given the most fundamental rights.
Similar to the protest that Sukma encountered, it was all for a cause. This cause was acknowledged
because Malcolm X used his education to understand the bias differences. To a large degree,
moreover, the protest allowed people to let go of their differences and come together to fight a bigger
cause. Education allows people to spread their knowledge to others and allow them to understand the
issues they face. This connects to Sukma s idea that knowledge gives us the ability to take social

Driving School
What I Learned at Driving School Driving school was quite the experience for me. To say the least, it
was extremely interesting. I learned so much from this course, which I did not even know I could
learn so much about driving in four hours! Throughout my paper, I will talk about the main topics that
I learned and what I expect to make me a better driver. The Alabama Graduated Drivers License Law
was one of the main things I learned during this course. This law is very important today and became
affected on October 1, 2002. A Fifteen year old with a valid learner s license are to be accomplished
by a parent or legal guardian of the age of twenty one with a valid divers license. This law states that
six teen year olds must not operate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you are speeding in a construction zone, your fine will be doubled! If it says construction workers
present and you do not see them, it is NOT okay to speed. The workers are probably there, but not in
sight. You will still get a ticket if speeding in this zone!! While operating a vehicle, you are to have
several required documents at a traffic stop. When stopped for a traffic violation, you are to always
have the following items: driver license, proof of insurance, and vehicle registration. As of May 8,
2009, all motor vehicles operated on Alabama highways must have liability insurance. If you do not
have insurance and involved in an accident, you will have to pay. Minimum coverage for a single
injured individual is $25,000 and $50,000 for two or more injuries. A first conviction for not having
mandatory liability insurance holds a fine up to $500 plus court cost. Drinking and driving is a wide
spread practice. Drinking while driving is a main factor in traffic crashes. There are several things we
should know about alcohol. Alcohol is a depressant, not a stimulant. It interferes with all judgment,
lowers alertness, and slows the normal reflexes. Some people think they feel stimulated after the
consumption of alcohol. They feel this way because their inhibitions are lowered, causing loss of
caution and self control. It simply doesn t matter if you are drinking wine, whiskey, or beer it s the
amount of alcohol you let enter your body.

Marital Expectations In Edna Pontellier s The Awakening
The pressures and expectations of society can be truly grueling; at times it may seem there is only one
way to escape these pressures. The Awakening follows the transformation of a simple and obedient
housewife, Edna, into a self actualized, empowered woman or so it seems. In an epiphany, Edna
realizes the only way for her to truly escape the oppression she feels from society and her husband, is
to commit suicide. At the beginning of the novel Edna is afraid of water, at the end, it is her escape.
Edna realizes that her biggest fear of overcoming society s expectations is inescapable and these
expectations literally and metaphorically drown her. However, it is unclear if Edna actually made this
choice made for herself or if society chose it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edna s life completely lacked passion: passion for her husband, passion to be a mother, or even
passion towards her art. Edna lacks the internal motherly instincts expected of a woman, She was fond
of her children in an uneven, impulsive way. She would sometimes gather them passionately to her
heart; she would sometimes forget them. The year before they had spent part of the summer with their
grandmother Pontellier in Iberville. Feeling secure regarding their happiness and welfare, she did not
miss them except with an occasional intense longing. Their absence was a sort of relief, though she
did not admit this, even to herself. It seemed to free her of a responsibility which she had blindly
assumed and for which Fate had not fitted her (Chopin 18). Edna refuses to become the property of
her husband even though obedience was expected, You have been a very, very foolish boy, wasting
your time dreaming of impossible things when you speak of Mr. Pontellier setting me free! I am no
longer one of Mr. Pontellier s possessions to dispose of or not. I give myself where I choose. If he
were to say, Here, Robert, take her and be happy; she is yours, I should laugh at you both (Chopin
108). This is ironic because at this time according to Louisiana law, women were, in fact, their
husband s property. Edna s husband tried to control Edna s choices and behavior. The oppression Edna
feels from her marriage is symbolically represented through the parrot at the beginning of the novel.
The parrot is caged, showing Edna s imprisonment in her own marriage. The parrot also shrieks and
curses at Mr. Pontellier after he scolds Edna, showing what Edna wishes she had the power to do,
retaliate (Chopin 1). This symbolic representation is present throughout the novel in showing Edna s
imprisonment in her own life. The bird s shrieking shows how Edna wishes she could stand up for

How Does Dawnette Hedge Changed Different Aspects Of A...
There is a lot of different aspects to a person s identity. The valuable information people have gathered
and constructed throughout their lives to become unique individuals. The way others see people and a
lot of different aspects bring out a personal identity. In this essay, I will be addressing some of the
ways that Dawnette Hedge came to be herself and have particular identities. The steps and processes
she has created and others have influenced, that have helped her create her identity through,
relationships, empathy, emotions, and divorce. Dawnette is a mother of five children. She took on this
identity role at the age of 20yrs old. This identity has molded her into a better person by being selfless,
wanting her children to look up to her as a role model. She has failed in this role of a mother
numerous times and fallen short of her expectations she admits. This identity has also brought out all
of her emotions from happy to the extreme opposite of irate. It is a learning experience and an ongoing
changing of her identity as a mom. With the changing of ages of her children from year to year. She
can remember a time when her 16yr old daughter played beauty salon with her sister and cut all of her
sister s hair off; after they had used all of their mother s makeup and destroyed it. The mixed emotions
of anger and frustration from that experience will never be forgotten. She has also experienced her

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Jury Trial
This essay will be looking at the advantages and disadvantages of the jury trial. Jury trial is a legal
proceeding where a jury makes a decision, which then direct the actions of a judge. The members of a
jury are a group of independent citizens. They have no interest in the case before them, nor is their
judgment coloured by regular experience of the business of the court. They are twelve individuals,
often with no prior contact with the courts, who are chosen at random to listen to evidence and decide
upon matters affecting the reputation and liberty of those charged with criminal offences. The jury has
always been drawn from sections of society but has been made democratic only in the last half
century. And now almost all citizen of the United Kingdom are eligible to serve on a jury. But the
percentage of criminal cases actually tried by jury is surprisingly low. Nowadays the magistrates
courts deal with at least 95 per cent of criminal cases. In practice juries determine the outcome of less
than 1 per cent of the total of the criminal cases. But still the idea of trial by jury has always been seen
as a cornerstone of the English legal system , and it remains the standard mode of trial for dealing with
the most serious types of criminal case. But even though it is established and been in practice for
years, people seem to believe that there are disadvantages to jury trails. Nonetheless, the jury system is
becoming increasingly controversial. Critics claim that

Total Quality Management As A System Of Management Essay
Total quality management can be defined as a system of management that is based on the principle
that every staff member needs to be committed to maintaining standards of work in every aspect of a
company s operations. This form of management is done in order to make sure that the entire
organization can excel as a whole when it comes to the products or services that are important to the
customer. Subsequently, this form of management has two fundamental operational goals. These goals
are; careful design of the product or service, and ensuring that the organizations systems can produce
the design at a consistent rate. What makes these two goals so important is the fact that they cannot be
accomplished without the entire organizations unity. Furthermore this is how the term total quality
management, was established. This is a system that is strategic, uses data, and also uses
communication to effectively unify quality discipline into the organizations culture as well as its
activities. Consequently, The Total quality management system can be broken down into eight primary
elements. These elements are the, customer focused element, total employee involvement element,
process centered element, integrated system element, strategic and systematic approach, continual
improvement element, fact based decision making element, and the communications element. The
customer focused element determines the level of quality. The consumer determines whether the
efforts are worthwhile for

The Pros And Cons Of Wolves
In May, 2016, 20 calves were killed and not eaten in four days in the area of the Absaroka Mountains,
outside of Pinedale Wyoming. (Urbigkit ,2016) However, it doesn t stop there, every day livestock and
wildlife are killed and rarely eaten by wolves in almost every western state. This is a problem that
needs to be addressed before ranchers lose their herds, and before the wild herds are depleted beyond
restoration. If the wolf situation was bad a couple years ago, well now it s worse, even some of the
protectors of wildlife are starting to come to their senses. Livestock is the most expensive prey that
wolves can get to, and the problem is that they get to them very easy and can escape because they
have no reason to come back to the kill. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wolves need to be managed and if they are not addressed they will continue to roam free of charge
and deplete the livestock herds. Even beyond that our generation of families won t feel safe letting our
grandchildren run around. The wolves have mass killed 19 elk in one night, slaughtered countless
numbers of livestock and in places threatened people. In the rural town of Reserve, New Mexico kids
wait for the bus in wooden and metal cages, meant to protect the kids from wolf attacks. (Toft, 2016).
You may think is this is unnecessary, until you see and hear about the wolves growling and snarling at
the frightened children. If this doesn t change your opinions on wolves maybe you should sit in the
cage and live in the wild with them. It s a sad time when the most important thing you walk out of the
house with is not your coat or anything it s your weapon, so you can defend your family, home, and
livelihood. As communities and stewards of the land our duty is to protect as well as manage, we as
hunters are managing, however the wolves are not being managed correctly, and are getting away with
the minor scolding of words that they cannot comprehend from the government. I m not saying
eradicate them but certainly allow the ranchers and such to shoot wolves, and for the government to
take charge and trap, shoot, and dart these arithmetically growing wolf

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas Essay
On October 27, 2015 I went to see Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Gilliam, 1998). Adapted from the
novel of the same name, Raoul Duke adventures through the west with his lawyer in search of the
American dream. Experimental in nature, this film strays from the traditional formula of story telling.
Its plot is hard to discern due to the constant intoxication of the main characters. Through the various
psychedelic drugs Raoul and Dr. Gonzo consumed in the duration of this film, the audience was able
to experience a bad trip alongside the characters. Ralph Steadman and Terry Gilliam s method of
associating mental inebriation while fruitlessly searching for something, highlights the difficulty of
finding the American dream. During the October screening of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, the
guest speaker spoke of the ideology approach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of counterculture is in opening scene of the film with the non diegetic inserts of race and
anti war protests. Toward the middle of the film when Dr. Gonzo abandoned Raoul, Raoul was pulled
over by a police officer for speeding. Despite being under the influence and in possession of drug
paraphernalia, Raoul was left to his devices under the guise that he would take a nap. In addition to
exposing the inconsistent application of judicial punishment, this scene subtlety shout outs to the
counterculture movement of the 1960s. Raoul and his lawyer s frequent violet escapades juxtaposes
the typical idea of American society; furthermore, the cause of their illegal activities is to find the
American dream. This is exemplified in the latter half of the film during a montage of Raoul and Dr.
Gonzo s week long drunken stupor. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas direct irony and tactic of subtly
protesting American society gives this film an additional layer of depth. This meaning is only
communicated through to the audience under the ideological

Now is the winter of our discourse. Made glorious summer by Al Pacino s documentary, Looking for
Richard. The documentary presents a facet of cultural and academic critiques of performing
Shakespeare while striving to turn those preconceived presumptions on their head. Pacino s
documentary shakes up the script and provides an interesting dialogue on the importance, influence,
and approachability of Shakespeare on a grand scale. A particular scene that captures Pacino s
message occurs around halfway through the film. Prior to this scene, Frederic Kimball is providing his
subjective insight on the motives of Richard III venturing to woo Lady Anne, while also implying that
Lady Anne specifically places herself into the narrative in order to be wooed. Al Pacino rolls his eyes
at Kimball s theory and opens a question to the rest of the crew, Does anyone have a better thing than
Frederic on this? (Pacino, Looking for Richard). This question leads into the discussion of who is the
authority on Shakespeare. A debate in which critics, scholars, performers, and the general public have
been attempting to answer for ages. From that conversation, the scene then opens with a medium shot,
centering the frame towards a half body shot of Kimball. Kimball s arms are extended, inviting the
audience in to listen to his dialogue. The edge of the frame provides a close up of Al Pacino and
Winona Ryder. Pacino s hand is directing the audience s attention towards Kimball. The framing of

The Problem Of The Healthcare Crisis Essay
There is a sad sort of irony these days when using the phrase healthcare. Is the focus truly on the
health or care of the patients any longer, or on the potential earnings of insurance companies and other
stockholders?
Since the introduction of the third party payor concept decades ago, the industry has set the stage for
insurance company management of healthcare. This paradigm has ensured that the costs of care
remain high while the quality has diminished.
What (or Who) is Behind the Current Crisis?
Singling out one specific cause of the healthcare crisis is like trying to name one thing that s wrong
with boy bands there are simply far too many things to point to.
If we had to list some of the reasons consumers and providers alike are finding it difficult to navigate
the current landscape, we would include things like reimbursements being fixed at lowering rates,
overhead expenses increasing for physicians, a constant influx of insurance and government mandates,
more paperwork and bureaucracy in medicine in general, malpractice litigation, understaffing of
hospitals and private practices, complex policies leading to lack of interoperability, and diminished
patient and doctor engagement.
There is also the fact that the industry has become increasingly fragmented. Consider that nearly 50%
of healthcare spending in this country is publicly funded by federal, state, and county level
governments through various entitlement programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and the

Coraline By Neil Gaiman Analysis
Gothic Horror is a style of literature that is defined by elements of fear, horror, death and gloom, not to
mention romantic elements like nature, individuality and very high emotion. It can also include
supernatural themes. This style usually appeals more to an older audience, rather than children. It can
appeal more to this audience because gothic horror can be used to explore serious themes and ideas,
and older audiences can fully appreciate that. An older audience is also more likely to enjoy the
feeling of fear gothic horror usually gives. A perfect example of a gothic horror text is Coraline ,
originally by Neil Gaiman. Coraline follows the story of a teenage girl (named Coraline), who has just
moved into a new house. Bored and tired of her family, Coraline visits an alternate universe where
everything is perfect, or so it seems. Coraline has many aspects of Gothic Horror, such as fear, horror,
gloom, individuality and high emotion. It fits the gothic horror genre perfectly, with immense horror
themes, grotesque characters and a general sense of eeriness and creepiness. ... Show more content on

King Henry VI had never been a perfect ruler, often making poor decisions because his wife or favourites wanted him to, but in August 1453, after the loss of Bordeaux to France at the end of the 100 Years War, Henry suffered a mental breakdown. He was oblivious to everything going on around him, could not feed or bathe himself, and did not even respond to the birth of his son. He may have inherited the same psychiatric condition his grandfather Charles VI of France had, which included bouts of madness in his later years, and Some medical historians have diagnosed his condition, on the evidence available, as catatonic schizophrenia complete mental withdrawal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During medieval times, a knight was expected to be loyal to those above him, and come serve them when it was time to fight, and The great peers of the kingdom could call upon minor lords in their dominions to come fight on their side, under one banner, but they all rallied towards the King, and disobeying him was extremely frowned upon (Jokinen). Near the end of the middle ages, this loyalty became a system known as Livery and Maintenance, and contributed greatly to the military aspects of the Wars of the Roses. Livery and Maintenance was the practice of keeping large numbers of knights on reserve, essentially a lord s personal standing army. These knights would wear the Lord s badge and livery, which, in addition to payment for their service, gave them a sort of prestige, as long as their lord was powerful. Since Lords could raise their own private armies, they had the choice to refuse support to the king if they did not like him. This was a massive change in the structure of feudalism, as standing up against the King was generally impossible without an army. The houses of Lancaster and York would not have gotten anywhere against each other without the help of powerful landowners like Richard Neville, sometimes called The Kingmaker. Livery and Maintenance gave the Noble class the ability to fight for who they wanted on the throne, whether a York, or a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hochschild conveys the exploitation of the Congo Free State by King Leopold II of Belgium from 1885 to 1908, as well as the revolting brutality during that period. Hochschild discloses how King Leopold II s unpleasant and atrocious capacity of maliciousness is shown through mass killings and colonization of Congolese land. The Ghost of King Leopold II still plagues the world while he is celebrated as a great humanitarian. (use own words). Part One: Walking Into Fire In the first part of Hochschild s book, he describes the actions and desires that led King Leopold to seize the Congo Free State, the rules he broke and how he manipulated the nations with his righteousness of combating slavery even though figured such as George Williams and ____ began speaking out against him. Hochschild describes King Leopold II as rude, revolting and awkward as he was growing up. His characteristics only began to drift towards persuasive and cunning when he discovered his curiosity in the colonization of new land. Conveniently, many European countries had no interest in colonization. When Leopold gained power, and searched for his lovely colony, their ambivalence resulted in him creating a colony on his own account. Leopold never actually stepped foot in Congo, he had used explorers such as Stanley Mortan and other white men to establish the colony for him. To sneakily undergo his objectives without other countries noticing, he created organizations in which he could operate under. For instance, the International African Association to stop the outspread of slavery. Leopold additionally hosted conference meetings to speak on human rights. If he was to seize anything in Africa, he could do so only if he convinced everyone that his interest was purely altruistic . (46) King Leopold succeeded at convincing every one of his goodwill, that he was supported financially from the Belgian government in introducing free trade and religion in the Congo. Based on the Form 10 K (2010), Blockbuster stated that: Our level of indebtedness may make it more difficult for us to pay our debts as they become due and more necessary for us to divert our cash flow from operations to debt service payments (p. 22). At the end of 2009, their long term debt went up to 855.9 million of dollars (Form 10 K, p.40). One of the factors that negatively affected Blockbuster s income and cash flow due to their debt obligation was the payment due date. It made even more difficult for Blockbuster to pay off the debts when the company faced economic downturns. The decrease in revenue made Blockbuster s obligation and interest higher. Due to this fact, the company had a limited fund to contribute their strategy and operation. While their revenue decreased and debt increased, Blockbuster gradually lost their ability to remain the war price as low as others. The company ended up going bankrupt. The first failure of Blockbuster s strategies, which lead it to bankruptcy, was the negative relationship with their consumers. While Netflix s chief executive, Reed Hastings, recognized the technology had been grown rapidly and would change the transmission of movie rental industry, Blockbuster s CEO, James Keyes, believed that consumers would still prefer to the brick and mortar rental structure. • 14. U.s. Vietnam War On American Culture, Politics, And... Regarded as one of the most controversial and polarizing military conflicts in U.S. history, the Vietnam War has left a deep and lasting impact on American culture, politics, and foreign policy. From 1964 to the present day, the Vietnam War redefined the scope of U.S. influence both at home and abroad, and caused a fundamental shift in American society that dramatically changed the way in which Americans viewed their government and the role of the United States as a world power. For an entire generation of Americans, who watched as the horrors of the war in Vietnam unfold before the spotlight of the national media, the Vietnam War directly challenged the superiority of the American way and the infallibility of U.S military dominance. In truth, the U.S government, U.S. military, and the American people as a whole struggled to accept the lessons of America s greatest military failure and the sobering reality of the war s consequences. To this day, the legacy of this so called American War continues to resonate throughout the fabric of American society as a cautionary tale of U.S foreign intervention and blind acceptance of open ended conflict. For the United States government, the failure of U.S intervention in Vietnam provided lessons about where and under what circumstances the United States should intervene in foreign conflicts. Throughout the mid twentieth century, U.S. foreign policy was characterized by the idea of containment . Coined by George Kennan in 1946, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Modest Proposal Essay Have You Eaten Yet?: Swift s Final Solution amp;#9;As a lately favored eighteenth century essay, Jonathan Swift s amp;quot;Proposal amp;quot; has been canonized as a satirical model of wit. As will be discussed shortly, Swift s essay is often seen as an allegory for England s oppression of Ireland. Swift, himself and Irishman (Tucker 142), would seem to have pointed his razor wit against the foreign nation responsible for his city s ruin. Wearing the lens of a New Historicist, however, requires that we reexamine the power structures at work in Swift s society. • 16. The Importance Of My Experience At A College Band Camp Have you ever spent a week at a college band camp? Unfortunately, it does not resemble the iconic scene from the classic film, American Pie. This narrative depicts why I decided to attend Southwestern rather than other colleges such as Oklahoma State University, University of Oklahoma, and Wichita State University. My fellow band friends and I took a three hour journey to Weatherford from Blackwell to attend the Southwestern Band Camp for four days. As soon as we reached our destination, I realized that this was where I wanted to be. When I stepped out of the cramped car, a cool breeze blew across my face. On this ninety four degree mid summer day, band kids were walking aimlessly trying to find the correct building to go to. As for myself, I knew exactly where to go. Check in was at 1PM in the Oklahoma Hall and luckily for us, I had scoped out the campus on Google maps to try and figure everything out. I knew once we exited the car that we needed to cross the street and head towards the building that looked like an x . Once we had checked in and placed our suitcases placed in the assigned dorms, we got our instruments out and headed towards the Fine Arts building. Auditions were separated by the type of instrument you played. Unfortunately, I had to separate from my friends since I played the bass clarinet and they played the saxophone. I had lost my way several times. Students were pacing the hallways and loud jabber between fellow instrumentalists about the etude could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Christian Meditation On God And Spending Time Essay Every now I then I receive a letter from a subscriber on the best way to incorporate Christian meditation into their daily devotion time with God. Including Christian meditation, into your daily schedule can make your life so much more rewarding and fulfilling. There are numerous benefits to meditating on God and spending time in His presence. These include developing a more intimate relationship with Christ, eliminating worry and stress, creating a space for God to speak to our hearts, and becoming more sensitive to the Holy Spirit to name a few. I have tried many, many different schedules for my Morning Devotion over the years, but the one I am about to share with you has been the best one for me. By Morning Devotion I mean the time I take each morning before I leave for the job or work on my business. The days that I skip these activities are usually marked with anxiety and frustration. I have reasoned that if I m too busy for God and myself, then I m just too busy and that busyness and chaos usually ends up being a theme throughout my entire day. God created us spirit, soul, and body and He doesn t want us to neglect any of these areas. We neglect our bodies when we eat poorly and don t exercise. We neglect our mind or soul when we feed it with mental junk food instead of uplifting literature or spiritual delights, and we neglect our spirit when we don t spend time with God being restored, renewed, and renovated. • 19. High Intensity Focused Ultrasound ( Hifu ) Therapy System,... ABSTRACT In High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) therapy system, electrical impedance matching networks should be used between the ultrasound transducer and signal generator in order to maximize the electrical power transmission. Impedance matching networks are designed based on LC resonant networks and that can be analyzed by analytical design theory and smith chart design technique. Graphical method using smith chart is adapted to understand the concept. The reflective power should be reduced after successfully matching the electrical circuit. However, the problem with our case, HIFU transducer has been observed with significant amount of reflective during LC matching network; that reflective power has to be reduced as much as possible. In order to eliminate reflective power we tried transformer matching instead of LC network and we are getting desired output. Even after that, we are getting slightly change over working resonance frequency which is not optimum for highly focused ultrasound transducer application or any other application. However, if we propose broadband matching network for transducer matching then we can increase the range of working frequency and we can compensate that problem. To conclude, transmission power can be increased by implementing broadband electrical matching networks. In this paper, I discuss the characteristics and different applications of piezoelectric material and how matching is an important to observe the behavior of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advertising is a big part of our culture but it s taken a toll on our people including the children. Advertising has effects on our people s bodies, self esteem, and is manipulative. First, advertisements have a toll on the people especially women and children. Women are affected by the fact that the models used must be so skinny and this makes woman self conscious. Parallels are frequently drawn between the decreasing size of the female body ideal and both escalating levels of women s body dissatisfaction and increases in the incidence of eating disorders There is now growing empirical support for the view that these images play a role in fueling women s body dissatisfaction. ( Halliwell and Dittmar 105 106) This shows that advertisements make woman feel self conscious and cause an unhealthy effect on the bodies of woman. Internalization of sociocultural attitudes toward thinness and appearance moderated the impact of advertising on women s body focused anxiety. (Halliwell and Dittmar 119). This further proves the point that advertisements cause effects to the body because anxiety can stress the body out which isn t healthy and can also cause you to be sick. ... It is taking the knowledge you have acquired and trying to make a change out of it. Sukma used to think that education is the training needed to get a high paying job. Then a protest occurred in his country, this occurrence allowed him to be awaken with new found knowledge. The protests were about the price increase and an economic crisis, ever since that it has expanded his relatively simplistic view of the world. From that movie, I learned that Malcolm X was one of the most influential African Americans in history, but he wasn t always like that. Before he became an American Muslim Minister, he was a lowlife scoundrel. This all changed when he went to prison and increased his knowledge. He acquired more knowledge, which led him to understand there are issues that should be fixed. This led Malcolm X to help the population of African Americans understand that supremacy and racism exist amongst them. Malcolm X believed that people should be treated equally, and be given equal rights just like their counterparts. This influenced people to be more aware of their environment and protest on the problems they face. Eventually, this movement made the government guarantee that African Americans should be given the most fundamental rights. Similar to the protest that Sukma encountered, it was all for a cause. This cause was acknowledged because Malcolm X used his education to understand the bias differences. To a large degree, moreover, the protest allowed people to let go of their differences and come together to fight a bigger cause. Education allows people to spread their knowledge to others and allow them to understand the issues they face. This connects to Sukma s idea that knowledge gives us the ability to take social ... The Awakening follows the transformation of a simple and obedient housewife, Edna, into a self actualized, empowered woman or so it seems. In an epiphany, Edna realizes the only way for her to truly escape the oppression she feels from society and her husband, is to commit suicide. At the beginning of the novel Edna is afraid of water, at the end, it is her escape. Feeling secure regarding their happiness and welfare, she did not miss them except with an occasional intense longing. Their absence was a sort of relief, though she did not admit this, even to herself. It seemed to free her of a responsibility which she had blindly assumed and for which Fate had not fitted her (Chopin 18). Edna refuses to become the property of her husband even though obedience was expected, You have been a very, very foolish boy, wasting your time dreaming of impossible things when you speak of Mr. Pontellier setting me free! This is ironic because at this time according to Louisiana law, women were, in fact, their husband s property. Edna s husband tried to control Edna s choices and behavior. The oppression Edna feels from her marriage is symbolically represented through the parrot at the beginning of the novel. The parrot is caged, showing Edna s imprisonment in her own marriage. The parrot also shrieks and curses at Mr. Pontellier after he scolds Edna, showing what Edna wishes she had the power to do, retaliate (Chopin 1). The documentary presents a facet of cultural and academic critiques of performing Shakespeare while striving to turn those preconceived presumptions on their head. Pacino s documentary shakes up the script and provides an interesting dialogue on the importance, influence, and approachability of Shakespeare on a grand scale. A particular scene that captures Pacino s message occurs around halfway through the film. Prior to this scene, Frederic Kimball is providing his subjective insight on the motives of Richard III venturing to woo Lady Anne, while also implying that Lady Anne specifically places herself into the narrative in order to be wooed.
