ABSTRACT
There was a sudden and unexpected collapse of Enron Corp. it was the first in a series of major
corporate accounting scandals that has shaken confidence in corporate governance and the stock
market. Only one month before Enron s bankruptcy filing in December 2001, the firm was widely
regarded as one of the most innovative, fastest growing, and best managed businesses in the United
States. With the swift collapse, shareholders,

came in. So Enron could estimate his future profits and this estimate would be shown at the outside

Many of the indications for fraud were related to the measuring and reporting of total revenues by
enron.furthermore, there were red flags related to the measuring and reporting of the profitability and
cash flows of Enron.
Enron did not grew large by merging with other firms but simply by using different accounting
methods for measuring and reporting of its total revenues than other firms in the industry. For its
energy contracts Enron made use of the mark to market valuation method. The mark to market
valuation method for financial assets allows revenue to be recognized as earned at the beginning of the
contract, so even before service is provided.
There are two red flags in Enron case the income grew in the period 1996 2000 in relation with the
revenue growth. And financial statements were signs of poor earnings quality as indicated by several

Woyzeck Conventions
By examining what is meant by the concept of theatrical genre , how would you characterize the genre
of Woyzeck?
Today, whenever somebody is asked to think of a typical Tragedy, his or her immediate answer would
be; Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, possibly even King Lear. This is because these plays constitute what is
conventionally known as a Tragedy. They mostly follow the conventions outlined in Aristotle s
Poetics, and have characteristics recognisable of a Tragedy, for example, the tragic hero being of
upper class or noble background, and the tragic hero s actions leading to inevitable consequences. As
Buchner s Woyzeck does not solely fit into this template, its genre can be deemed as a little confusing.
However, Woyzeck is undoubtedly a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is certainly true of Woyzeck, as Woyzeck himself does all that he can to earn money for Marie
and his child. He bears all the scientific experiments for the love of Marie, facing the humiliations of
the Doctor and the Officer, and because of this the audience regard Woyzeck as a character that is
inherently good. On finding out that Marie has had an affair, Woyzeck s world, meaningful only
through his love, breaks down, and consequently we cannot help but feel immense pity for him, even
though he does kill Marie. The most important element of a tragic drama to Aristotle was the idea of
Catharsis, and so if we are to follow Aristotle s views of tragedy, then because of these incidents
arousing pity and fear in us, then Woyzeck is undoubtedly a Tragedy. There are however some aspects
to Woyzeck that make characterizing it as a tragedy slightly difficult. Traditionally within tragedies the
tragic hero is of noble stature and has greatness, as common people did not interest Aristotle. It is
evident to the audience however, that Woyzeck is from a working class background. In Scene 6 when
Woyzeck is shaving the Officer, Woyzeck repeatedly states that he is poor, Poor, that s what we are.
You see, us common folk,

How Did Hitler Establish a Dictatorship in Germany from...
How Did Hitler Establish A Dictatorship In Germany From 30th January 1933 To August 1934?
On The 30th of January 1933, President Hindenburg appointed Hitler as Chancellor. In the 18 months
succeeding this, Hitler became, essentially, a dictator. This essay will look at what a dictatorship is and
how it operates, how the population is brought to a point where they accept a dictatorship, and
examine and analyze the vital events that took place in Germany which lead to Hitler assuming
dictatorial power: the Reichstag fire, the Emergency Decree, the Enabling Act, the banning of trade
unions and other political parties, the Night Of The Long Knives, the death of President Hindenburg,
and the German army s oath of loyalty to Hitler. It will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Emergency Decree, as stated earlier, placed substantial restrictions on the people s personal
freedom, illustrating Hitler s step toward a dictatorship.
Considering how harsh Hitler s dictatorship was, it is hard not to wonder how and why the population
accepted his dictatorship. Hitler brought the population to this point mainly by the use of propaganda,
the manipulation and brainwashing of German youth, and, most importantly, the use of terror .
Issued on March 24th, 1933, and officially named the Law for Removing the Distress of the People
and the Reich , the Enabling Act essentially meant the end of democracy in Germany, establishing the
legal dictatorship of Hitler, by giving him the power to make laws without the approval of either the
Reichstag or the President . But why would the Reichstag vote for a dictator, and in effect, vote
themselves out of existence? In order to ensure that the Reichstag voted in favor of the Enabling Act,
Hitler used the method of intimidation and terror to coerce them when the members of the Reichstag
met in the Kroll Opera House to vote, the [armed] SA and SS men lined up at the exits 4 menacingly.
Proceeding the Enabling Act was the banning of trade unions and the Nazis political opponents. On
May 2nd, 1933, trade unions were closed their leaders were put in prisons, and their money was
confiscated. Replacing the trade unions was the German Labor Front. The GLF not only reduced

cousin Charles Carroll of Carrollton signed the Declaration of Independence. Carroll was sent abroad
for his education. Between 1742 and 1748 he and John studied under the Jesuits at the College of St.

Review Of Pieces Mended By Film, And Digital Art
Title: Pieces Mended Modality: Movement, Drama, Film, and Digital Art Materials: Samsung Galaxy
Edge, HP stream, Filmora editing software, and music by The Used. Flashback: The year was 2002, I
was standing on the corner waiting for the van to take me to therapy. The outfit that day was likely a
black hoodie, studded belt, family guy t shirt, skinny jeans, and checkered vans. The music blasted
through foam covered Sony headphones that looped behind my neck. The song Pieces Mended by The
Used (2002) played on a beat up disc man, which was decorated in yellow caution tape, duct tape, and
sharpie marker. Three minutes passed felt more like a decade. I remember thinking that the entire
situation was bullshit and no medication, or amount of therapy was going to help me. The only
ingredients that would ensure a smooth day were whiskey, a wine flavored dutch, and my bed. The
song lyrics supported my decision to ditch therapy that day, because honestly, what did they know
about anything. The lyric, fuck it, I m fine became my motto for the next few years (The Used, 2002).
Present Day Detailed memories from childhood and adolescence are difficult to remember, but the
emotions that arise in association with being fifteen are difficult to forget. Using music and movement
made it easier to embody a younger version of myself for the Adolescent Mandala assignment.
Embodiment meant going back to that song that motto, and recalling those moments when [b]eing

passion seem to come from the joy and happiness his clients experienced when they reached the top,
material things. Rob seemed to care about the money and publicity that he got when he got his clients
to the top. Fischer and Hall both wanted to be recognized they just wanted it in two very different
ways. Fischer seems to be closer to his climbers but allows believed they deserved free rein to hike up
and down the mountain independently. However, Rob believed that his group needed to stay together
during the acclimatization period. Fischer and Hall were both good people from the bottom of their
hearts. Fischer held a fundraiser, raising half a million dollars for a charity called CARE. Rob on the
other hand cleared five tons of garbage from base camp when visiting with an old business partner. As
a result of this it turned into a money hungry reward to get other people to start cleaning up one of his

Viewing Review Blind Light
The film Blind Light by Sarah Pucill is an experimental 16mm film that was presented as a part of the
Cinematheque s Studio DIM Cinema . This twenty two minute film, made in 2007, consists of a series
of long, slow shots of the sky from the interior of a studio loft. In these shots, the filmmaker gradually
adjusts the exposure and zoom, affecting the brightness levels and perspective. Pucill also controls the
shot by closing and opening the blinds on the windows being looked out of. Additionally, the audio on
the film is largely absent with only a few short comments and outside noise sporadically throughout.
This film creates a lonely and isolated atmosphere with it s use of durational shots, absence of action
and bare setting. Narration is also used to further this effect. For example, after the long period of
silence at the beginning of the film, the artist says in a calm voice I can t look, so I ll shut it out . The
nature of this phrase expresses a sense of defeat, which can be interpreted literally, in terms of the
brightness of the light coming from outside as well as metaphorically, referring to a painful experience
or difficult situation that might be easier to disregard than address. Following this statement, the
second line is I want to see the sun, to be blinded , which contradicts the former, though follows a
similar theme, evident of a troubled mindset.

Short Speech On Competition
One of the most thrilling peculiarities about life on earth is: it is competitive. The forces of nature
encourage competition, as individuals with exceptional abilities succeed in getting the best life has to
offer; while the rest are left with little or nothing.
Competition, According to Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary (2006: 294) is a situation in which
people or organizations compete with each other for something that not everyone can have. Education,
on the other hand, is a process of teaching, training and learning, especially in schools or colleges, to
improve knowledge and develop skills (ibid, 2006: 467).
Competition exists in all facets of life. Education is no exception. Education without competition is
akin to eating boiled rice without stew or soup. How distasteful! Hardly would anyone want to eat
such a meal, as it is of less nutritional value. Thus, for education to remain relevant ... Show more

Little did I know: some of my pupils who were scoring low, started to buckle up. Slowly, things
started to change as every pupil wanted to do well.
On faithful Thursday, after the class was over, some group of pupils approached me privately; and the
following conversation ensued:
Pupil one: Good evening uncle. Please what is the difference between complacent and complaisant?
Before I could think of responding, another pupil cuts in.
Pupil two: in what situation can we use each of them?
I was a bit startled; as I was not expecting such a question. I have only seen and used complacent;
however, I have not even seen nor heard the latter.
My response was: do not worry; I would get backed at you tomorrow. I am running late for an

In all honesty, however, I could not explain the difference at that point in time. But, this taught me a
hard lesson: if you must teach, be sure to arm yourself with enough knowledge. This is because; to

Examples Of Figurative Language In A Separate Peace
An Explanation of Internal Conflict
In his novel, A Separate Peace, author John Knowles implements an army of literary devices to lure
and capture a reader s interest. If one were to turn to a single page in this novel, he/she would find
several devices. A heavily recurring theme is the internal conflict of the characters throughout the
story. Knowles incorporates the theme of inner conflict into several characters, not just a single, well
rounded character, such as Gene.
As previously stated, John Knowles uses a wide variety of literary devices, such as figurative
language. While reading Knowles novel, A Separate Peace, one can find multiple examples of
figurative language in every chapter. Similes, metaphors, and personification ... Show more content on

Many times throughout A Separate Peace, he utilizes imagery to do exactly that. Imagery is the use of
visually descriptive words and language in a story or novel. In the beginning of the novel, Knowles
exercises his knowledge of imagery by using dreary and dark images. The ocean looked dead too,
dead gray waves hissing mordantly along the beach, which was gray and dead looking itself.(49). This
passage relates to Gene later in the story. He feels terrible and dead inside from knocking Finny off the
branch. Even further in the story, Finny dies from another break in his leg, which occurs because Gene
broke his leg the first time. Gene feels exactly like the ocean again, feeling as if darkness was taking
over his life. On page 72, Devon is described by Gene as being vacant of peace. Peace had deserted
Devon. The war had finally made it s way to the school, and destroying peace and replacing it with
fear and uncertainty. Gene feels devoid of peace after Finny is injured, just as Devon does when the
war closes in. He believes that he is the sole reason that his best friend is dead, and this idea tears and
rips his insides apart. Imagery may not be used as frequently as figurative language or symbolism, but
it is equal in

Advantages Of Nursing-Care Robots
Introduction The Japanese population is rapidly aging and the number of elderly people will account
for a large part of it. Some care problems will be heavy burden on young people. For example, it is
possible that the young generation has to leave their companies in order to devote time to their older
family member s care. Furthermore, the shortage of young workers leads other problems such as the
decline of business and the pension plan. Elderly people taking care of elderly people has also become
an important issue today. Therefore, Japan has to find alternatives for making up for the caregiver
shortages and improving the situation in aging society. Some kind of alternatives (e.g. introduction of
foreign care workers) can be listed, but this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

should adopt nursing care robots in order to make up for the caregiver shortages and avoid economic
recession which causes from a drain of young people. If the nursing care robots are introduced into
our life in aging society, they can relieve the heavy burden from the young generation. Robots will

The Appropriate Court For This Lawsuit
The appropriate court for this lawsuit depends upon several factors. Three important considerations
include the following: Personal jurisdiction which allows courts to have jurisdiction over both the
plaintiff and defendant in a case. Specific to corporations, personal jurisdiction only applies in the
state in which the company does business, is incorporated and has it principle office. In Margolin s
suit, personal jurisdiction would not apply because although the company does business in the state of
New York, both Novelty Now and Funny Faces are not incorporated or have principle offices in this
state.
Subject matter jurisdiction allows a court the authority to only hear case that are in regards to a
specific topic. Although restrictive in its ability to hear cases based on the topic, subject matter
jurisdiction can specialize in a specific case type. Courts such as tax, federal claims and bankruptcy
are examples courts which have subject matter jurisdiction.
In reference to the case study, subject matter jurisdiction could possibly apply. Since Margolin suit
claims negligence on the parts of Novelty Now and Funny Faces for using PYR in their product the
case could be heard in a federal claims court. The violation of FDA regulations makes the case a
stronger candidate for this type of venue.
Minimum contact establishes an appropriateness for one state to assert its jurisdiction on a person or
business in another state. When evaluating the facts of the case presented, it

The Maribyrnong River Bank
There are places in the west that we pass daily which seem forever destined to remain a mystery or
curiosity like the cluttered yellow barbershop on Williamstown road, the Museum of Printing on
Geelong Road, or even the old Greek op shop in Spotswood but Footscray s Heavenly Queen Temple
need not be a mystery any longer.
Most recognisable for its 50 foot gold statue overlooking the Maribyrnong River which is visible from
trains on the Sydenham line, The Westsider recently visited for the birthday celebrations of the royal
deity herself, and was given the grand tour (and a tasty pork bun) by Society President Mr William
Tsang.
The Maribyrnong River bank began its transformation into Australia s largest Chinese temple with the
acquisition of the unused land wedged between the river and the railway line previously designated a
100 year flood area, meaning no building could be undertaken for fear of potential flood damage. With
the land raising project complete, the foundations were in place for the current temple and grand
entrance gate, with the complex awaiting completion of left and right wing buildings, plus an
additional temple at the rear over the coming years.
To its worshippers, the temple is a celebration of the goddess Mazu the protector of sea travellers but
it also stands as a testament to the resilience of the Chinese people who journeyed to Footscray and
surrounds via troubled Vietnam in the 1970s and 80s. It is also home to four other deities

National Regulation For Chambers Of Commerce
2.1.1. National regulation for chambers of commerce
CCMA is a private company that has private and public services. Public services are regulated by
National Government (Confecamras, n.d.), while private services works with market logic and
compete with other companies´ services.
Since CCMA develops some public services, it can be affected by normative changes, which could
imply for the company a reduction of its incomes or a rise of its operational costs.
Due to these facts the CCMA must reduce its level of dependency of political factors, generating more
incomes through its private services, which means that this public threat makes evident an opportunity
of developing new services and growing the scope of the actual private services. Besides CCMA must
be aware of changes in regulations.
2.1.2. A strong brand
The CCMA has a recognized brand in the region where it offers its services. This has been achieved
due to the company´s presence in that market for 100 years, and the number of companies associated
that it has (CCMA, n.d; Figueroa N., 2015).
Another factor that helps company to have a strong brand is the projects and programs that this
company develop with local governments, which allows it positioning its brand and promote its
services (Osorio, 2004; Arias, 2014, El Tiempo, n.d.). This strength of the CCMA is an asset that helps
positioning company´s services in the mind of its customers (Hollensen, 2015).

I Am Getting Ahead Of Myself
I am getting ahead of myself. I should start from the very beginning about two years ago. There was
me and my three best friends in the entire world Sam and Kat and Jo. We had a group of friends,
which we called the group. The only thing you need to know about the group is that: 1. We were

Maybe it just me, but everybody seemed to secretly dislike her personality. Probably because she

Book Review: What Does China Think?
China s rise has been discussed as a remarkable affair for years, and now China is ready to become
another superpower. In a book, What Does China Think? by Mark Leonard, the battle of ideas in
China is being introduced and shown to the readers; many opinions and assertions on Chinese reforms
within economic and political perspectives are being discussed to find ways that China should pursue.
The author conjures up that China has grown into a huge economic power, exemplifying the numerous
amount of Chinese products which are labeled with Made in China . However, the author also deals
with problems that China is confronting; the author includes Yuanmingyan , a symbolic embodiment
of China s historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One Chinese thinker, Zhang Weiying, formulated the idea of dual track pricing with introducing an
allegory, called the village of zebras . In the story of the allegory, elders in a village argued endlessly
that their village s horses were better than the neighboring zebras. However, they found out that the
zebras were actually superior to their horses. Realizing the reality, the elders confronted and worried
about one problem; their villagers were too accustomed to the horses, resulting from the previous
elders argument, so that embracing the zebras would be difficult for them. Hence, the elders created a
plan; they painted their horses with strips every night while other villagers were sleeping. When
villagers found out and shocked about the zebras, the elders assured that those zebras were actually
their own horses that were painted with stripes. Finally, all the villagers became accustomed with the
zebras; the replacement was successful. By implying this allegory, Weiying argued that dual track
pricing would help to promote China s economic growth without implementing new idea suddenly.
Dual track pricing is an idea that publishes market prices and state controlled prices simultaneously.
Increasing the ratio of the market prices, the state controlled prices could be replaced. Accordingly,
most Chinese thinkers advocated that the gradual change would work more appropriately and
effectively than the sudden change for the economic

It is observed that the power factor is maintained closer to unity when the input voltage is reduced
from 230V to 110Vrms. Figure 11 (a) and (b) shows the power factor correction of controller for
various load condition such as 20% (60W) and 75% (230W). The power factor for the system is found
to be 0.84 for light load condition and 0.99 for full load condition. The THD of input current at full
load with predominant third and fifth harmonic components are shown in Figure 12(a) and (b).Third
harmonics is found to be 4.8% and fifth harmonic component is 4.9% which are well within IEC
61000 3 2 standard during wide range of load variations. The variation in power factor with load is
shown graphically in Figure 13(a). It can be inferred from the graph that improved resettable control
operates at high power factor for all load condition whereas the conventional PI control has poor
power factor under light load conditions. Figure 13(b) shows the comparison between the efficiency of
the converter for varying load conditions with the conventional control method and the resettable
integrator control. The converter s efficiency is maintained at 92% for light load conditions and 96%
for fully loaded condition with integrator control technique. Thus the improved resettable integrator
controller provides a very simple and reliable solution for power factor correction and

And deep down, you know she s right. When you watch Pretty In Pink by John Hughes a comedy,
romance, and drama film taking place in the 80 s, where there are heartbreaks and reconciliations. The
screenplay for the 1986 movie was written by John Hughes and directed by Howard Deutch. A
teenager Andie Walsh, Molly Ringwald, must choose between her childhood sweetheart Duckie, Jon
Cryer, and a rich boy Blane McDonnagh, Andrew McCarthy. The film Pretty In Pink won the BMI
Film Music Award in 1987 a year after the movie was released.
Andie is a high school senior that has only a father because her mom abandoned them. Andie is a very

Spader makes a huge impact on the movie because in the movie he is Andrew McCarthy s friend and
tells him that he cannot be Andie s boyfriend. The actor Jon Cryer does a great job of being Andie s
friend and nothing else but her friend. In the movie, Jon Cryer fails his classes to spend time with
Andie, waits for her to come out of a club which he cannot go in, defends her when he hears Stef
talking to Blane, and sings a song for her. Jon Cryer has his moments and his jokes in the movie like
in Two In A Half Men. Andrew McCarthy and Molly Ringwald had to be in a relationship because
they come from two completely different worlds but they show that nothing is more important than
love. McCarthy and Ringwald show exactly the acting on the movie about how teenagers react to love
and how they react to breakups. Duckie was very convincing with his acting by showing his emotions

Although only 5 % of Sula s wine brands are exported, Sula has been venturing into newer markets
across the globe. Over the last 6 years, Sula s Global Brand Ambassador led Sula s introduction into
new markets such as Canada, Belgium and the Middle East and emerging markets like China are in
pipeline this year.
Realizing that the global wine market is competitive and brand sensitive, Sula has used a wherein it
partners with international distributors. For instance, the company has recently launched the Nasika

Finally, this strategy we believe is a stepping stone till Sula increases its awareness in the global
market via the distributors and starts making independent forays.
Sula has been relying on and in many instances touting it s nasik roots to project itself as the finest
wines available from the best wine region in India. This is also reflected in the branding adopted with
their range available through Laithwaithe s.
However, Nasik is not the only wine growing region in India and with the recent acceptance and
uptake of wine in India as well as abroad, a slew of new players have emerged, some even predating
Sula. Established wine makers, much like Sula have developed several regions pan India and have
imported, harvested and crushed grapes in these regions. Some examples of the same are, Grover
Vineyards in Nandi Hills, The Port wines of Goa such as Vinicola, Chateau D Ori with its presence in
Dindori, Four Seasons in Baramati and Chateau Indage Narayangaon.
Each of these regions can lay claim to unique branding opportunities and representation on
International tables and wine lists. Furthermore, greater the acceptance and adoption of Sula across the
world, greater the chance that distributors would eventually add other brands to their selections. The
Nasik valley itself has seen a proliferation of several world class vineyards, including the much lauded

Influence of the Roman Theater on Cicero s Oration Pro Caelia By
Cicero s oration in defense of M. Caelius Rufus shows many substantive and stylistic borrowings from
the Roman Theater, particularly the comedies of the 2nd century b.c.e. This would scarcely seem
remarkable to Cicero, to employ such devices is only to make use of the tools of his trade, as a
practical and practicing rhetorician. In this case using the theater as a framing device to guide his
audience s response.
So too would the judgments and emotions existing in the cultural reservoir of Greco Roman, or Attic
Latin stage have met his division of purpose as he considered the permanent written speech, he would

Cicero, by example of his own life takes a broad inclusive approach to Oratory. In a earlier statement
we encounter words which probably reflect his own view closely: But the fact of the matter is that
oratory is a much more considerable activity and depends on a far wider range of different arts and
branches of study, than people imagine (Cicero, Orator I 4,16).Particularly Cicero seems interested in
holding on to the orator s special sphere the third branch of Philosophy life and behavior of human
beings which is to say, human nature (Cicero, Orator I 15, 69).
We hear of the orator s special strength to rouse men s hearts to anger, hatred, and indignation (Cicero,
Orator I 12,53), a not dissimilar goal to that of the dramatist. We find that a speaker s job is to ensure
that the feelings of his audience are affected just the way he wants them to be (19, 87). His Five Tasks

A lot of the children try to escape through on line gaming. They buckle under the pressure at the

century and there was no vocabulary for it. The children were thought to be anti social. If the children
were depressed they were thought to be impure and they were sent to a labor camp. But now they have
more knowledge about mental health. They have even set up crisis hot lines, and China is taking steps
to take the pressure off young children. After I read this article I disagree a lot with, I thought I am
glad I don t live in China. I think children should be allowed to be children. I don t think your whole
life should depend on just one test. The parents giving up so much for their children in the hopes of
them passing a test just amazes me. Reading this article it talks about how hard of a life the children
have, but what about the parents? They are sacrificing their whole life on their one child, in the hopes
of them succeeding and taking care of them in their old age, which I do agree with children taking
care of their parents when they get older. The way I was raised, you do take care of your parents when
they get older. I disagree with a child s whole future resting on just one test. That puts so much
pressure on children to do well at such a young age. I can see why children get depressed, if

answer here, is to make a statement that a Christian perspective and worldview would be valuable to
any organization. An organization centered on principles and teaching of the bible would operate with
integrity, and accountability. The difficult part is translating that specifically to the area of statistics.
How can you relate Christian beliefs, and values to mathematics? As Christians do we think

The Death Of A Fetus
Women are faced with a myriad of choices on a daily basis. Whether they are superficial, like how she
dresses or where she goes out to dinner, and others can be more life altering, like career she pursues
and the relationships she chooses to have. One choice that women should be able to make for herself
is what she chooses to do with her reproductive organs. A woman should be able to choose for herself
whether or not she will have an abortion, yet there are so many other people who think they know
better, whether that be government or the overly vocal Pro Life protestors sticking their nose in
someone else s privates.
Abortion, by definition, is the intended termination of a pregnancy that results in the death of a fetus
or embryo. This deliberate medical procedure can be done in two distinctive ways, mainly hinging on
how long the woman has been pregnant. A medical abortion is one that is done through prescription
medications while being closely monitored by a medical professional. According to Planned
Parenthood, Medical abortion, or the abortion pill, can occur up to 9 weeks into a pregnancy, and is
performed over a two to three day period. A woman would be given a hormone blocker called
Mifepristone in order to block progesterone, a hormone that vital for pregnancy during the first
trimester. A day or so after that, a woman would be given the drug Misoprostol, which is used to shut
down the uterus to stop the pregnancy, which results in the woman bleeding heavily and

The Stages Of Young Adulthood
INTRODUCTION
Young adulthood is a time of life when a person has just entered adulthood from adolescence. During
young adulthood one is less mature or one can say they are just like the adolescents but little more
mature and their body has fully developed as compared to adolescents. There are many ups and down
in young adulthood
In young adulthood we begin to share ourselves more closely acquainted with others. We delve into
relationships leading towards a longer term commitments with someone other than our family
member. Successful completion of this stage can lead to comfortable relationships and a sense of
commitment, safety, and care within a relationship. If an individual avoids intimacy, fearing
commitment and relationships it can lead to isolation, loneliness, and sometimes depression. Success
in young adulthood will lead to the virtue of love.
Young adulthood is a phase in an individual s life where there exists a lot of decision making related

Mount Everest Pros And Cons
Nepal has eight of the 14 highest mountains in the world, including Mount Everest
Nepalese authorities say that the number of visitors to Sagarmatha National Park, where Everest lies,
has roughly tripled in the past 20 years. With the increasing number of tourists comes a growing
amount of rubbish left behind on mountains: food wrappers, climbing gear, oxygen cylinders, and
even the bodies of climbers who died along the way. The frigid temperatures mean trash does not
biodegrade.
Over the past six decades, an estimated 50 tons of trash has been left on Mount Everest, giving it the
nickname the world s highest garbage dump. Mountaineering associations have complained about the
growing number of inexperienced climbers leaving their garbage behind in an attempt to save the
energy they need to reach the summit or return to base camp alive.
Famous climbers such as Reinhold Messner have said Mount Everest has been trivialized, calling for
Nepal to close off access to the mountain for a handful of years to allow it to recover.
New clean up rules
Now Nepal s tourism ministry has acted, deciding that from this April forward, every climber going
beyond the base camp will be required to bring back at least eight kilograms (17.6 pounds) of their
personal waste and hand it over to officials stationed there. That s the amount the government
estimates an exhausted climber discards along the way. The aim is to make sure that no new trash will
be left on Everest.

Stakeholders in Health Reform
When talking about healthcare reform, one must always think about the stakeholders. Stakeholders are
people and organizations that have a stake (interest) in what a healthcare organization does and that
could affect the healthcare organization (Olden, 2011). There are many different stakeholders in our
case study but we will focus on the main ones.
In Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Health Care Reform Act had a considerable impact on hospitals
and the health care system. Most community health centers were benefiting from coverage expansions
and safety net hospitals were struggling financially due to the fact that the state put more funding
towards insurance subsidies to expand coverage. Academic medical centers (AMC) were able to ...

penalty for any significant period of continuous un insurance, impose waiting periods for certain
services and bar consumers from buying in the merged market if they had access to employer

premiums. Bill 2585 did pass but the law did not go as far as the insurance companies had hoped. It
only limited open enrollment in the merged market to twice a year in 2011 and once a year after that

put a stop to it. Even though the big name hospitals were driving up cost, the insurance companies
were seen as the bad guys. This caused local plans to record sizable operating losses for the first
quarter of 2010 and had to draw on reserves to cover expected losses resulting from the rate rollbacks

The most important stakeholder in the healthcare policymaking is probably the patient. In

Brokeback Mountain Essay
Movies can be divided in to so many categories nowadays and there are different reasons why there is
an emergence of these. One reason being that movies evolve with society and this is evident in the
way movies are presented from black and white to colored and now 3D movies. But we must also look
at how the different plots have evolved from the usual light home movies to mafia influenced movies
and now more socially relevant movies. As society evolves, so does our opinions and views on
different ideologies or concepts about life and our surroundings.
In the case of bisexuality, our cultures dictate whether or not we will accept it freely or with a little

This practice is called aretē wherein two individuals seek the excellence that the other possesses and
in the process they are led to a union, even if they are married, that society accepts. Although in the
case of the movie and our society at present, this practice isn t accepted, we can see that people who
lived during that time have an open mind which people should have at present.
The emergence of this movie also shows us that there is an initiative on the part of film directors to
shape society s view on gays. Especially since a lot of people misunderstand them because they don t
take that initiative to see that they only differ in preference and not necessarily in their genetic
makeup. With this in mind it should also be noted that as these directors and other organizations make
those initiatives, people will be more likely to understand and accept others differences and eventually
coexists without prejudice and violence.
According to Heath Ledger when asked about what he can say about the movie, he said, It transcends
a label. It s a story of two human beings that are in love; get over the fact that it s two men that s the
point. This wonderful quote summarizes what everyone should take into consideration. The
bottomline of all relationships should be love. Whether that love would be with a man or woman,
everyone should give that level of respect because no one can dictate who the right one is but

Literary Devices In Ethan Frome
In the book Ethan Frome many very important themes appear. These themes include: silence,
isolation, and consequences. The most important and the one that appears the most in the book is
consequences. The author presents these themes in ways to help the reader learn more in depth about
the characters and the author. While also learning lessons about real life situations.
The book is set mostly around the theme of responsibility vs. consequences. Not only does the book
teach the reader about how this could affect the characters lives but also how it could affect the reader
s own life. The author gives many examples of real life situations on consequences and responsibility.
For example, He was planning to take advantage of the Hales sympathy to obtain the money...
deceiving two kindly people who had pitied him (Ch.8, Pg. 97). From this example the reader is
shown that Frome has finally realized that his responsibility to Zeena was to take care of her the way
that she so kindly did for his mother. What the author is trying to teach the reader is that when
someone is kind enough to help you when you are in need, then when they are in need you should
return the favor. The author also is teaching the reader that you shouldn t take from others if you don t
need what you are taking.
Also in the book, the author is uses many literary devices. Some of these devices include: symbolism,
motif, and irony. These devices are used to help the reader become more involved in the

Film Production Of Film Films
The history of film began in the 1890s, when motion picture cameras were invented and film
production companies started to be established. Because of the limits of technology, films of the 1890s
were under a minute long and until 1927 motion pictures were produced without sound. The first
decade of motion picture saw film moving from a novelty to an established large scale entertainment
industry. The films became several minutes long consisting of several shots. The first rotating camera
for taking panning shots was built in 1897. The first film studios were built in 1897. Special effects
were introduced and film continuity, involving action moving from one sequence into another, began
to be used. In the 1900s, continuity of action across successive shots was achieved and the first close
up shot was introduced . Most films of this period were what came to be called chase films . The first
use of animation in movies was in 1899. The first feature length multi reel film was a 1906 Australian
production. The first successful permanent theatre showing only films was The Nickelodeon in
Pittsburgh in 1905. By 1910, actors began to receive screen credit for their roles, and the way to the
creation of film stars was opened. Regular newsreels were exhibited from 1910 and soon became a
popular way for finding out the news. Overall, from about 1910, American films had the largest share
of the market in Australia and in all European countries except France.

Main Purpose Of The Market
A market is actually a system where all the participants are engaged in exchanging goods, services or
informations. The main purpose of these exchanges is the profit. A market is called efficient when
supply and demand are equal and the price that the consumers pay for goods is equilibrium with the
cost arising from producer s economic activities.
There are some goods which are non exclusive and non rival in consumption such as Safety and
Environment. These are called Public goods.
However in shipping market participants are not reluctant to invest or to provide for measures on
safety and environment as they will not have any profit which is the main purpose of the market.
When market fails to control abuses of monopoly power, fail to provide all the necessary public goods
or fail to provide enough merit goods then it is called a market failure .
The market failure led the state to intervene in international shipping in order to improve safety,
protect the environment and increase market s efficiency.
There are many economic theories regarding the State intervention, into the market and the concept of
market failure . This essay is analysing some of these theories in order to understand the rationale for
the state intervention, especially in the market of international shipping and maritime transport. It is
analysing also concepts of externalities which arise from market failure and the role of state in
providing support to navigation through many different ways.

Confidence In Raymond s Run, By Toni Cade Bambara
Confidence is important to many people because it basically shapes our life, like in the books, Thank
you m am Langston Hughes,is trying to show us how confident and caring people can be just like in
the book, Raymond s run by Toni Cade Bambara. One example, is that Mrs.Jones stood up for what
she thought and did not back down. The book even told us, Pick up my pocket book boy, and give it
here. And If I turn you loose will you run ? You might be thinking now is that teaching girls how to be
confident well, if you think about it , it teaches you not to back down and that is confident. Another
reason why she is confident is that she is willing to kick the kid in the , blue jeaned sitter in front of
people and is not worried about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My first example is that she takes care of her older brother because he has a disability with his head.
All I have to do in life is mind my brother Raymond, which is enough, said Squeaky. People might
think that she is being nice to him because she is forced to but I think that she is just being caring out
of the blue , because people are not forced to be nice. Another example is that in, Thank you m am
Mrs.jones gave the kid ten dollars which in modern day is like 100 something dollars just so he could
buy some, Blue suede shoes. I think these two ladies need a round of applause for what they have
done don t you think they need it ? They also both took care of someone in different ways like in,
Raymond s run she took care of her brother by helping him every day of her life like giving him food,
taking him everywhere and setting out clothes while in the book, Thank you m am Mrs. Jones took
care of the boy in a different way like she taught him a lesson, gave him food , money and a towel to
wipe his face. And this should have taught you how to be caring to people stranger or not you should
still be kind and nice but most of all caring because you will feel good inside and someday they might
just do the same thing for someone

Brief Summary Of Myriel By Elie Wiesel
The book begins with the convict, Jean Valjean, being released from a French Prison. He has served
nineteen years for stealing a loaf of bread and subsequent escape attempts. He is set free, but only with
his identification papers yellow. This marks him as criminal, and now in the new town, no one is
willing to house him. In despair, Jean Valjean goes to the bishop M. Myriel. The kind man allows him
to stay, but Jean Valjean repays him by stealing the bishop s silverware then running for it. However,
the police catch Jean Valjean, who claims Myriel gave him the silverware. When the authorities take
him to Myriel, the bishop backs Valjean s story, as well as giving him a set of expensive candlesticks.
Valjean promises the bishop that he will

Isle Of Brazil Research Paper
Many, many years ago, the Isle of Brasil, or Brasil, was an island off of the coast of Ireland. No one
had visited there. The island was mapped on many nautical charts, and somehow no one could find
Brasil. Perhaps the reason why is because a dense fog seems to always cover the island. This intrigued
two of England s most prized explorers in 1899. The first explorer s name was Harrison Abbot, born
in April of 1871. He was a tall, thin man with dark brown hair. He had blue eyes that glistened in the
sunlight. The second explore was Orville Andrews, born in March of 1870. He was a bit shorter than
Harrison and a bit wider too. He had blond hair and hazel eyes. His upper lip sported a handlebar
mustache. The two had been the best of friends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Little boys and girls were running around laughing and playing. The ladies held pastel purple, blue,
and yellow parasols trimmed with decorative lace. Their dresses, full of opulence, matched the
umbrellas. They were almost like a piece of art having many fine details. The gentlemen wore tuxedos
filled with ritz and glamour. Some chose to wear bow ties while others wore ascots. The line for the
boardwalk s grand and luxurious theater grew longer by the minute. It was playing The Sign of The
Cross directed by French director Georges Méliès. Harrison and Orville were in the que waiting to see
the film. While waiting, they noticed that a piece of paper had been left stuck in between the wooden
boards of the boardwalk. Harrison wiggled it just a little until it was freed. The corners tore a little. He
noticed that it was a nautical chart. When he saw that it was from 1843 and outdated, he simply put it
in his pocket and thought about throwing it away after they had seen the film, but Orville noticed that
the chart had a mysterious and suspicious looking landform on it. He asked Harrison if he could take a
look at the it. The map showed that an island was located off of the coast of Ireland. The rounded
letters printed over the island read, Brasil. The two had not heard of nor seen this island before. They
were familiar with Brasil Rock which lay in a similar location on more recent charts. So they decided
to leave the boardwalk and head to the library where the figured they could find more information on
Brasil and its history. It was late by the time they had made it to the library. It was dark inside. The
exquisite, dark, detailed woodwork reflected the glow of beautiful golden sconces and desk lamps
which seemed to be the only light source. While researching, Harrison and Orville discovered that the
legend claims that the island is only visible one day every seven

The Act Of Genocide
The act of genocide is an extremity that accompanies the ever modernizing world, a reality that is
increasingly discovered as the twentieth century inched toward the twenty first. Cambodia, a country
located in southeast Asia, is unlucky enough to have fallen under the terror of their own personalized
war on humanity. A purpose whose plans took root in the quest for an egalitarian system, and thus
purposefully began attacking its own economy. All the while destroying any constructs the Pol Pot
regime felt may lead to a type of variety among the people, for there is safety in homogeneity. And so
this culture suffered through extermination, whether that be in religion, music, or even in common
family and friend relationships. Cambodia has been stripped of its individuality through each and
every citizen for the sake of uniformity. When such a conflict as this, has finally come to an end it is
undeniable that the process of rebuilding must commence. That reconstruction aimed toward all that
has been destroyed: the economy, all types of infrastructure, a sense of community among the people.
It is the responsibility of the country, as well as the developed outside world, to distribute aid toward
this process. Far too often foreigners invade with their own objectives disguised as good will. Post
genocide Cambodia has for years received aid that was either, unable to meet it s needs or not
established long enough to make a significant or lasting difference. What is necessary is a

Recycling For A Green Economy
Recycling is a process where waste materials are transformed into new products to prevent waste of
potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage,
reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from landfilling) by reducing the need for
conventional waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emissions as compared to plastic production.
Steel is the most important material in construction simply because it always contains recycled
content. It is completely recyclable at the end of its product life and may be recycled an unlimited
number of times without loss of quality. Steel is 100% recyclable, which means it can be reprocessed
into the same material of the same quality again and again. Also, it is easily recovered by magnetic
separation. Once steel is produced, its life cycle is potentially endless, making it a permanent resource
for society as long as it is recovered at the end of each product life cycle. Recycling is especially
important in a green economy because it conserves valuable resources and prevents useful materials
going to landfill sites as waste. There are two main sources of recycled steel, also called steel scrap:
excess material from steel production and downstream manufacturing (pre consumer scrap), and steel
at the end of a product s life (post consumer scrap). All types of steel can be recycled, including food
tins, bottle tops, paint cans, aerosols, scrap metal and even structural steel

Sgi vs Dell Essay
Rackable Systems (SGI) was founded in 1999 as a specialist server company. At that time, all the
other server making companies used the latest and best high technology chips or software which they
bought from ADM or Microsoft to complete their own servers, and then they can provide customers
services. SGI wanted to find a new way that they could enter the market without competition, and
based on its unique server which meet customer needs better than its competitors and offer customers
maximum flexibility and cost effectiveness. SGI gained a profitable share in the server market and
became the first company to try to eliminate the storage, networking, and cooling hardware for each
server to work as a stand alone entity. First of all, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
SGI owned some real estate, core patents, and especially a 5,000 strong global customer list, which
are important assets to help SGI to establish foreign operations. After the merger, SGI could make
superior cluster computing systems and be able to solve large scale data problems through a
combination of hardware, storage, and software solutions. SGI s ability to leverage its global
competence had increased, and started to sell products and take orders from European companies.
Hold all these in hand, that SGI got some competitive advantage in the market. For the future, SGI
still have a long way to go if it wants to be surviving in this market. First, We recommend that SGI
should maintain its competitive advantage by continue its traditional way to focus on meeting
customer needs, try to provide unique solutions for the toughest technology and business problems,
and try to be the first to market with new component technology. Secondly, SGI should try to create
more products and services by using its unique and valuable skills like server design and cooling
technology in order to gain more customers and competitive advantages. Finally, try to make some
cooperation with its competitors. There are no everlasting friends or everlasting enemies in the world.
There are only friends with the same interest.

Things That Make Friendships Last a Lifetime
There is a type bond that is made between a set people who want to go farther than being just
acquaintances. A healthy friendship contains respect, people who respect each other by means of equal
fashion. Friends should often care about the well being of the other person. Many friendships also
include acts, whether they are acts of kindness that work towards the best interest of the other without
requiring materialistic items in return. A healthy friendship also contains honesty.
An act of kindness between friends can be seen when a young man who recently broke up with the
girlfriend he was living with at that time and had nowhere else to go. The man s one buddy, who
ended up discovering that his friend was on the verge of being homeless decided to go over and help
him move out of his house into his house. The man s friend did not offer his assistance in the matter
because he was asked but rather because it was the right thing to do at the time. He never asked for
anything in return because he was helping a friend and it s the correct thing to do when you or
someone you know needs help the most. Another example of this type of occurrence is when you are
walking down the street and you take notice to somebody struggling carrying something, you out of
common courtesy ask if they need help. They may not always take it but they will appreciate the
thought. As humans, some of us

The New Class Of Anti Diabetic Drugs
Abstract
Glitazones are the new class of anti diabetic drugs that are the first to be able to manage glycaemia
goals. Troglitazone was first approved for the market in 1997, but it was withdrawn from the market
by 2000. After the withdrawal of troglitazone, rosiglitazone and pioglitazone were introduced in 1999
as potentially safer alternatives. However, currently rosiglitazone is under black box warning for
increased risk of cardiovascular disease and pioglitazone is in a nutshell as the drug required more
investigation. In this review, the potential ability to predict the adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are
examined. If it is possible to predict ADRs, should it be done in the future.
Introduction
Millions of people worldwide are affected due to diabetes, 90% of them having type 2 diabetes
mellitus (non insulin dependent). Since 1921, drug therapy has been improved minutely and in 1950s
the antidiabetic sulphonamides and biguanides has been introduced. Therefore, the arrival of glitazone
or thiazolidinediones is an important event (14).
Thiazolidinediones are being developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and insulin
resistance. Thiazolidinediones binds and activate the peroxisome proliferator activated receptor γ
(PPAR), a nuclear receptor that regulates the several genes which are involved in metabolism. The
PPAR γ controls lipid storage, insulin sensitization and adipocyte differentiation. Besides the
metabolic activities, thiazolidinediones also have

  • 4. Woyzeck Conventions By examining what is meant by the concept of theatrical genre , how would you characterize the genre of Woyzeck? Today, whenever somebody is asked to think of a typical Tragedy, his or her immediate answer would be; Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, possibly even King Lear. This is because these plays constitute what is conventionally known as a Tragedy. They mostly follow the conventions outlined in Aristotle s Poetics, and have characteristics recognisable of a Tragedy, for example, the tragic hero being of upper class or noble background, and the tragic hero s actions leading to inevitable consequences. As Buchner s Woyzeck does not solely fit into this template, its genre can be deemed as a little confusing. However, Woyzeck is undoubtedly a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is certainly true of Woyzeck, as Woyzeck himself does all that he can to earn money for Marie and his child. He bears all the scientific experiments for the love of Marie, facing the humiliations of the Doctor and the Officer, and because of this the audience regard Woyzeck as a character that is inherently good. On finding out that Marie has had an affair, Woyzeck s world, meaningful only through his love, breaks down, and consequently we cannot help but feel immense pity for him, even though he does kill Marie. The most important element of a tragic drama to Aristotle was the idea of Catharsis, and so if we are to follow Aristotle s views of tragedy, then because of these incidents arousing pity and fear in us, then Woyzeck is undoubtedly a Tragedy. There are however some aspects to Woyzeck that make characterizing it as a tragedy slightly difficult. Traditionally within tragedies the tragic hero is of noble stature and has greatness, as common people did not interest Aristotle. It is evident to the audience however, that Woyzeck is from a working class background. In Scene 6 when Woyzeck is shaving the Officer, Woyzeck repeatedly states that he is poor, Poor, that s what we are. You see, us common folk, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On The 30th of January 1933, President Hindenburg appointed Hitler as Chancellor. In the 18 months succeeding this, Hitler became, essentially, a dictator. This essay will look at what a dictatorship is and how it operates, how the population is brought to a point where they accept a dictatorship, and examine and analyze the vital events that took place in Germany which lead to Hitler assuming dictatorial power: the Reichstag fire, the Emergency Decree, the Enabling Act, the banning of trade unions and other political parties, the Night Of The Long Knives, the death of President Hindenburg, and the German army s oath of loyalty to Hitler. The Emergency Decree, as stated earlier, placed substantial restrictions on the people s personal freedom, illustrating Hitler s step toward a dictatorship. Considering how harsh Hitler s dictatorship was, it is hard not to wonder how and why the population accepted his dictatorship. Hitler brought the population to this point mainly by the use of propaganda, the manipulation and brainwashing of German youth, and, most importantly, the use of terror . Issued on March 24th, 1933, and officially named the Law for Removing the Distress of the People and the Reich , the Enabling Act essentially meant the end of democracy in Germany, establishing the legal dictatorship of Hitler, by giving him the power to make laws without the approval of either the Reichstag or the President . But why would the Reichstag vote for a dictator, and in effect, vote themselves out of existence? In order to ensure that the Reichstag voted in favor of the Enabling Act, Hitler used the method of intimidation and terror to coerce them when the members of the Reichstag met in the Kroll Opera House to vote, the [armed] SA and SS men lined up at the exits 4 menacingly. Proceeding the Enabling Act was the banning of trade unions and the Nazis political opponents. On May 2nd, 1933, trade unions were closed their leaders were put in prisons, and their money was confiscated. Replacing the trade unions was the German Labor Front. Flashback: The year was 2002, I was standing on the corner waiting for the van to take me to therapy. The outfit that day was likely a black hoodie, studded belt, family guy t shirt, skinny jeans, and checkered vans. The music blasted through foam covered Sony headphones that looped behind my neck. The song Pieces Mended by The Used (2002) played on a beat up disc man, which was decorated in yellow caution tape, duct tape, and sharpie marker. Three minutes passed felt more like a decade. I remember thinking that the entire situation was bullshit and no medication, or amount of therapy was going to help me. The only ingredients that would ensure a smooth day were whiskey, a wine flavored dutch, and my bed. The song lyrics supported my decision to ditch therapy that day, because honestly, what did they know about anything. The lyric, fuck it, I m fine became my motto for the next few years (The Used, 2002). • 11. Analysis Of Blind Light Garnet Tyler 301344139 CA 130 Fundamentals of Film Viewing Review Blind Light The film Blind Light by Sarah Pucill is an experimental 16mm film that was presented as a part of the Cinematheque s Studio DIM Cinema . This twenty two minute film, made in 2007, consists of a series of long, slow shots of the sky from the interior of a studio loft. In these shots, the filmmaker gradually adjusts the exposure and zoom, affecting the brightness levels and perspective. Pucill also controls the shot by closing and opening the blinds on the windows being looked out of. Additionally, the audio on the film is largely absent with only a few short comments and outside noise sporadically throughout. This film creates a lonely and isolated atmosphere with it s use of durational shots, absence of action and bare setting. Narration is also used to further this effect. For example, after the long period of silence at the beginning of the film, the artist says in a calm voice I can t look, so I ll shut it out . The nature of this phrase expresses a sense of defeat, which can be interpreted literally, in terms of the brightness of the light coming from outside as well as metaphorically, referring to a painful experience or difficult situation that might be easier to disregard than address. Following this statement, the second line is I want to see the sun, to be blinded , which contradicts the former, though follows a similar theme, evident of a troubled mindset. The emphasis ... • 12. Short Speech On Competition One of the most thrilling peculiarities about life on earth is: it is competitive. The forces of nature encourage competition, as individuals with exceptional abilities succeed in getting the best life has to offer; while the rest are left with little or nothing. Competition, According to Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary (2006: 294) is a situation in which people or organizations compete with each other for something that not everyone can have. Education, on the other hand, is a process of teaching, training and learning, especially in schools or colleges, to improve knowledge and develop skills (ibid, 2006: 467). Competition exists in all facets of life. Education is no exception. Education without competition is akin to eating boiled rice without stew or soup. How distasteful! If one were to turn to a single page in this novel, he/she would find several devices. A heavily recurring theme is the internal conflict of the characters throughout the story. Knowles incorporates the theme of inner conflict into several characters, not just a single, well rounded character, such as Gene. Imagery is the use of visually descriptive words and language in a story or novel. In the beginning of the novel, Knowles exercises his knowledge of imagery by using dreary and dark images. The ocean looked dead too, dead gray waves hissing mordantly along the beach, which was gray and dead looking itself.(49). This passage relates to Gene later in the story. He feels terrible and dead inside from knocking Finny off the branch. Even further in the story, Finny dies from another break in his leg, which occurs because Gene broke his leg the first time. Gene feels exactly like the ocean again, feeling as if darkness was taking over his life. On page 72, Devon is described by Gene as being vacant of peace. Peace had deserted Devon. The war had finally made it s way to the school, and destroying peace and replacing it with fear and uncertainty. Gene feels devoid of peace after Finny is injured, just as Devon does when the war closes in. • 15. The Appropriate Court For This Lawsuit The appropriate court for this lawsuit depends upon several factors. Three important considerations include the following: Personal jurisdiction which allows courts to have jurisdiction over both the plaintiff and defendant in a case. Specific to corporations, personal jurisdiction only applies in the state in which the company does business, is incorporated and has it principle office. In Margolin s suit, personal jurisdiction would not apply because although the company does business in the state of New York, both Novelty Now and Funny Faces are not incorporated or have principle offices in this state. Subject matter jurisdiction allows a court the authority to only hear case that are in regards to a specific topic. Although restrictive in its ability to hear cases based on the topic, subject matter jurisdiction can specialize in a specific case type. Courts such as tax, federal claims and bankruptcy are examples courts which have subject matter jurisdiction. In reference to the case study, subject matter jurisdiction could possibly apply. Since Margolin suit claims negligence on the parts of Novelty Now and Funny Faces for using PYR in their product the case could be heard in a federal claims court. The violation of FDA regulations makes the case a stronger candidate for this type of venue. The Maribyrnong River Bank There are places in the west that we pass daily which seem forever destined to remain a mystery or curiosity like the cluttered yellow barbershop on Williamstown road, the Museum of Printing on Geelong Road, or even the old Greek op shop in Spotswood but Footscray s Heavenly Queen Temple need not be a mystery any longer. Most recognisable for its 50 foot gold statue overlooking the Maribyrnong River which is visible from trains on the Sydenham line, The Westsider recently visited for the birthday celebrations of the royal deity herself, and was given the grand tour (and a tasty pork bun) by Society President Mr William Tsang. The Maribyrnong River bank began its transformation into Australia s largest Chinese temple with the acquisition of the unused land wedged between the river and the railway line previously designated a 100 year flood area, meaning no building could be undertaken for fear of potential flood damage. With the land raising project complete, the foundations were in place for the current temple and grand entrance gate, with the complex awaiting completion of left and right wing buildings, plus an additional temple at the rear over the coming years. To its worshippers, the temple is a celebration of the goddess Mazu the protector of sea travellers but it also stands as a testament to the resilience of the Chinese people who journeyed to Footscray and surrounds via troubled Vietnam in the 1970s and 80s. Then it hit me, people crawled around on their hands and knees because nobody was willing to stand up for what they believe in. Their eyes were mirroring the desires of their hearts, so in the man s eyes when I saw himself in his eyes, he was the center of his own world. When I tripped of the woman who had he hollowed arm I realized it was because we do not have a strong relationship with God. Our country is hollow from the absence of God filling us with His presence. When I stumbled into the building with everyone in the center of the room it was because everyone is the center of the own world. • 19. National Regulation For Chambers Of Commerce 2.1.1. National regulation for chambers of commerce CCMA is a private company that has private and public services. Public services are regulated by National Government (Confecamras, n.d.), while private services works with market logic and compete with other companies´ services. Since CCMA develops some public services, it can be affected by normative changes, which could imply for the company a reduction of its incomes or a rise of its operational costs. Due to these facts the CCMA must reduce its level of dependency of political factors, generating more incomes through its private services, which means that this public threat makes evident an opportunity of developing new services and growing the scope of the actual private services. Besides CCMA must be aware of changes in regulations. 2.1.2. A strong brand The CCMA has a recognized brand in the region where it offers its services. This has been achieved due to the company´s presence in that market for 100 years, and the number of companies associated that it has (CCMA, n.d; Figueroa N., 2015). Another factor that helps company to have a strong brand is the projects and programs that this company develop with local governments, which allows it positioning its brand and promote its services (Osorio, 2004; Arias, 2014, El Tiempo, n.d.). This strength of the CCMA is an asset that helps positioning company´s services in the mind of its customers (Hollensen, 2015). 2.1.3. An excellent customer service culture ... In a book, What Does China Think? by Mark Leonard, the battle of ideas in China is being introduced and shown to the readers; many opinions and assertions on Chinese reforms within economic and political perspectives are being discussed to find ways that China should pursue. One Chinese thinker, Zhang Weiying, formulated the idea of dual track pricing with introducing an allegory, called the village of zebras . In the story of the allegory, elders in a village argued endlessly that their village s horses were better than the neighboring zebras. However, they found out that the zebras were actually superior to their horses. Realizing the reality, the elders confronted and worried about one problem; their villagers were too accustomed to the horses, resulting from the previous elders argument, so that embracing the zebras would be difficult for them. Hence, the elders created a plan; they painted their horses with strips every night while other villagers were sleeping. When villagers found out and shocked about the zebras, the elders assured that those zebras were actually their own horses that were painted with stripes. Finally, all the villagers became accustomed with the zebras; the replacement was successful. By implying this allegory, Weiying argued that dual track pricing would help to promote China s economic growth without implementing new idea suddenly. Dual track pricing is an idea that publishes market prices and state controlled prices simultaneously. Increasing the ratio of the market prices, the state controlled prices could be replaced. Accordingly, most Chinese thinkers advocated that the gradual change would work more appropriately and effectively than the sudden change for the economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Isle Of Brazil Research Paper Many, many years ago, the Isle of Brasil, or Brasil, was an island off of the coast of Ireland. No one had visited there. The island was mapped on many nautical charts, and somehow no one could find Brasil. Perhaps the reason why is because a dense fog seems to always cover the island. This intrigued two of England s most prized explorers in 1899. The first explorer s name was Harrison Abbot, born in April of 1871. He was a tall, thin man with dark brown hair. He had blue eyes that glistened in the sunlight. The second explore was Orville Andrews, born in March of 1870. He was a bit shorter than Harrison and a bit wider too. He had blond hair and hazel eyes. His upper lip sported a handlebar mustache. The two had been the best of friends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Little boys and girls were running around laughing and playing. The ladies held pastel purple, blue, and yellow parasols trimmed with decorative lace. Their dresses, full of opulence, matched the umbrellas. They were almost like a piece of art having many fine details. The gentlemen wore tuxedos filled with ritz and glamour. Some chose to wear bow ties while others wore ascots. The line for the boardwalk s grand and luxurious theater grew longer by the minute. It was playing The Sign of The Cross directed by French director Georges Méliès. Harrison and Orville were in the que waiting to see the film. While waiting, they noticed that a piece of paper had been left stuck in between the wooden boards of the boardwalk. Harrison wiggled it just a little until it was freed. The corners tore a little. He noticed that it was a nautical chart. When he saw that it was from 1843 and outdated, he simply put it in his pocket and thought about throwing it away after they had seen the film, but Orville noticed that the chart had a mysterious and suspicious looking landform on it. He asked Harrison if he could take a look at the it. The map showed that an island was located off of the coast of Ireland. The rounded letters printed over the island read, Brasil. The two had not heard of nor seen this island before. They were familiar with Brasil Rock which lay in a similar location on more recent charts. So they decided to leave the boardwalk and head to the library where the figured they could find more information on Brasil and its history. It was late by the time they had made it to the library. It was dark inside. The exquisite, dark, detailed woodwork reflected the glow of beautiful golden sconces and desk lamps which seemed to be the only light source. While researching, Harrison and Orville discovered that the legend claims that the island is only visible one day every seven ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Act Of Genocide The act of genocide is an extremity that accompanies the ever modernizing world, a reality that is increasingly discovered as the twentieth century inched toward the twenty first. Cambodia, a country located in southeast Asia, is unlucky enough to have fallen under the terror of their own personalized war on humanity. A purpose whose plans took root in the quest for an egalitarian system, and thus purposefully began attacking its own economy. All the while destroying any constructs the Pol Pot regime felt may lead to a type of variety among the people, for there is safety in homogeneity. And so this culture suffered through extermination, whether that be in religion, music, or even in common family and friend relationships. Cambodia has been stripped of its individuality through each and every citizen for the sake of uniformity. When such a conflict as this, has finally come to an end it is undeniable that the process of rebuilding must commence. That reconstruction aimed toward all that has been destroyed: the economy, all types of infrastructure, a sense of community among the people. It is the responsibility of the country, as well as the developed outside world, to distribute aid toward this process. Far too often foreigners invade with their own objectives disguised as good will. Post genocide Cambodia has for years received aid that was either, unable to meet it s needs or not established long enough to make a significant or lasting difference. What is necessary is a ... • 46. Recycling For A Green Economy Recycling is a process where waste materials are transformed into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from landfilling) by reducing the need for conventional waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emissions as compared to plastic production. Steel is the most important material in construction simply because it always contains recycled content. It is completely recyclable at the end of its product life and may be recycled an unlimited number of times without loss of quality. Steel is 100% recyclable, which means it can be reprocessed into the same material of the same quality again and again. Also, it is easily recovered by magnetic separation. Once steel is produced, its life cycle is potentially endless, making it a permanent resource for society as long as it is recovered at the end of each product life cycle. Recycling is especially important in a green economy because it conserves valuable resources and prevents useful materials going to landfill sites as waste. There are two main sources of recycled steel, also called steel scrap: excess material from steel production and downstream manufacturing (pre consumer scrap), and steel at the end of a product s life (post consumer scrap). All types of steel can be recycled, including food tins, bottle tops, paint cans, aerosols, scrap metal and even structural steel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Friendship And Friendship In Life Kade Gardner Ginger Stepp Eng. Comp 1 25 September 2017 Things That Make Friendships Last a Lifetime There is a type bond that is made between a set people who want to go farther than being just acquaintances. A healthy friendship contains respect, people who respect each other by means of equal fashion. Friends should often care about the well being of the other person. Many friendships also include acts, whether they are acts of kindness that work towards the best interest of the other without requiring materialistic items in return. A healthy friendship also contains honesty. An act of kindness between friends can be seen when a young man who recently broke up with the girlfriend he was living with at that time and had nowhere else to go. The man s one buddy, who ended up discovering that his friend was on the verge of being homeless decided to go over and help him move out of his house into his house. The man s friend did not offer his assistance in the matter because he was asked but rather because it was the right thing to do at the time. He never asked for anything in return because he was helping a friend and it s the correct thing to do when you or someone you know needs help the most. Another example of this type of occurrence is when you are walking down the street and you take notice to somebody struggling carrying something, you out of common courtesy ask if they need help. • 49. The New Class Of Anti Diabetic Drugs Abstract Glitazones are the new class of anti diabetic drugs that are the first to be able to manage glycaemia goals. Troglitazone was first approved for the market in 1997, but it was withdrawn from the market by 2000. After the withdrawal of troglitazone, rosiglitazone and pioglitazone were introduced in 1999 as potentially safer alternatives. However, currently rosiglitazone is under black box warning for increased risk of cardiovascular disease and pioglitazone is in a nutshell as the drug required more investigation. In this review, the potential ability to predict the adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are examined. If it is possible to predict ADRs, should it be done in the future. Introduction Millions of people worldwide are affected due to diabetes, 90% of them having type 2 diabetes mellitus (non insulin dependent). Since 1921, drug therapy has been improved minutely and in 1950s the antidiabetic sulphonamides and biguanides has been introduced. Therefore, the arrival of glitazone or thiazolidinediones is an important event (14). Thiazolidinediones are being developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance. Thiazolidinediones binds and activate the peroxisome proliferator activated receptor γ (PPAR), a nuclear receptor that regulates the several genes which are involved in metabolism. The PPAR γ controls lipid storage, insulin sensitization and adipocyte differentiation. Besides the metabolic activities, thiazolidinediones also have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
