people every year around the world (Singh et al., 2014) with devastating physical, psychological and
social consequences. SCI not only damages motor systems, it also directly affects sensory systems,
causing chronic, debilitating neuropathic pain. The incidence of neuropathic pain after SCI is
extremely high, with at least half and up to 90% of SCI individuals experiencing neuropathic pain,
described as paroxysmal pain that can be continuous and may be evoked by any sensory stimulus, not
necessarily painful. Current pharmacological interventions offer minimal, transient relief to a minority
(30%) of sufferers of SCI induced neuropathic pain (Cousins, 2012). Current treatment strategies
utilize conventional drugs for chronic pain, which only address pain symptomatically and cannot
provide lasting relief or prevent relapse of symptoms, leading to drug dependency and further
reducing quality of life for SCI patients. Due to the myriad events that take place after SCI,
delineating the causes of neuropathic pain development is difficult. Neuropathic pain in general, and

On Monday, October 17 from one p.m. until two p.m. I observed people s behavior in Starbucks on
Clemson University campus. The majority of the population consisted of students most likely ranging
from eighteen years old to twenty four years old. This time of day seemed to be particularly busy, and
from where I was sitting I observed human behavior as they interacted within the space. The room
itself had an ordering area, an area to gather while waiting for your drink, and then multiple seating
arrangements, such as booths, high tables, large tables, and small tables. Even with all the furniture the
space had little obstructions, making it easy to oversee activity. People s interaction with others
depended greatly on whether or not they were with other people. If someone was alone they did not sit
at a table that had four or more chairs, instead they would opt for a table that was made for two
people. Pairs of people meeting each other at the location hugged, but when saying goodbye, they
simply walked away, not stopping to give a farewell. Groups tended to consist of younger students,
while individuals were more likely to be older students. While waiting to order their drink groups
would talk loudly, but upon sitting each individual would pull out something to occupy them and all

Dark, matted hair spiraled from his head into several gelled angles, almost hiding his closed eyes. His

Napoleon Bonaparte, one of the world s greatest military strategists, led the French at the Battle of
Waterloo. During his time as a General, even in defeat, his tactics in the way he used artillery were
beyond reproach. His successes and errors made throughout the Battle of Waterloo had a direct effect
on how we use artillery today.
The Battle of Waterloo, which took place on 18 June 1815, was the final battle of the Napoleonic wars
and ended Napoleon s reign as emperor. The French marched into Belgium with 70,000 troops and
256 artillery pieces (Stevenson, n.d.). They were met by the British Army led by, the Duke of
Wellington, Arthur Wellesly. Combined with its allies (Germans, Belgians, Dutch, and Prussians), the
British Army consisted of 67,000 troops and 156 artillery pieces.
Napoleon s greatest strength was the use of artillery, but with the heavy rain preceding the battle, he
worried that the muddy battlefield would restrict his artillery from advancing. This led to a fatal
miscalculation he decides not to attack until midday, in an attempt to allow the battlefield to dry. The
delay, would allow Marshal Blucher s Prussian Army enough time to join the fight.
Napoleon starts the battle by bringing up 74 artillery pieces and begins bombarding the British with

A remedy society knows as trial and error. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) use
fallacies in almost all of their advertisements. In fact, Veggie Love, a super bowl video ad by PETA,
claims that vegetarians have better sex. In the video, gorgeous women dressed in lingerie are groping
broccoli, asparagus and even a licking a pumpkin. This video commits the false cause fallacy because
it expresses that people are having great sex because they are vegetarians. In addition, if a person
wants to have great sex, they need to become a vegetarian. It is also possible that an argument commit
more than one fallacy at a time. This video also commits the hasty generalization fallacy, because it
states that if you eat vegetables you will have great sex with gorgeous women, therefore the obvious
conclusion is that all vegetarians have great sex! To tell these two different types of fallacies apart a

The Movies Badlands ( 1973 ) And Days Of Heaven
The movies Badlands (1973) and Days of Heaven (1978) are both directed by the acclaimed movie
maker Terrence Malick. Both of these films have been deemed culturally significant by the Library of
Congress and have been inducted in 1993 and 2007 respectively. The basis of this paper is to take
these two movies and shed some light behind their creator s process. The justification for this analysis
is to prove with examples that Terrence Malick is an example of an auteur. Through the use of mise en
scene, sound, and editing it can be seen that the two films in question are decidedly of a certain style
that is unique to Terrence. Beginning with the mise en scene components incorporated in Badlands, it
is shown throughout that Terrence Malick really enjoys nice natural light for the majority of his shots.
Of course this goes hand in hand with the majority of the film taking place either outdoors, or inside
of a car. Whether it be inside or out the sun does most of the job in that department. Now, dissecting
the components behind the wardrobes, Kit s denim jacket and jeans really define him. The reason why
Terrence made that choice for what he wore is obvious. The outfit is extremely symbolic of the
location where the film takes place. Kit himself even says at one point that he has the leather boots to
appear like more of a cowboy. Being located in the Midwest at the time makes this quite appropriate.

The apocalypse is a common subject addressed in films and such Doomsday scenarios have become
increasingly popular since the beginning of the Cold War. These films provide a different cause for the
downfall of human kind and approach the subject with various degrees of despair and hope. Despite

only the negative qualities of human kind that led to and are represented by the agent of destruction

The subtle score of Mark Isham is utilized infrequently, magnifying its effect on the particular scenes
it is present in. In one of the most suspenseful scenes, a volunteer ties a rope around his waist and
