Geographic Distortion Lab Report
Project 1: Plotting Coordinates and Projections
Patrick Barcaskey pvb5192
Part A: Reference Map Projection
Moon Township, PA: 80.2072W 40.5081N
Map showing Moon Township, Pennsylvania in a Robinson projection format.
This is a Robinson projection that is centered at coordinates 80.2072°W and 0°N. Scales are true at
38°N and S and are equal at all corresponding latitudes that are equal distance from equator. I chose it
because it is a good compromise and is easy on the eyes. The amount of distortion is low within 45° of
the equator and greater towards the poles.

The standard parallels are 20 and 60 and between these distortion is minimal. This projection would
be particularly good as the base of a poverty map because the size of any area on the map is a true
proportion to its size on the earth. Poverty rate per 10,000 can be displayed in a dot density map. A dot
density shows the concentration of a quality in an area. One dot can represent every 10,000 people.
The map will not represent the results correctly if the areas are not in true proportion. Also, if areas are
not in the right proportion, countries that are larger will look less dense and countries that are smaller
will look too dense.

The Civil Rights Movement Of America
America has experienced many periods in history that shape the social system we have today. Many of
our adopted attitudes and beliefs have outlined our present and nearing future into a more liberal
society. Following World War II, America was placed on a pedestal admired by the world around it for
success during the post war period. America had more internal damage that was not reflective of the
values the country was set on. Entering the post War period, a group of college students advocated for
domestic change writing a manifesto popularly known as the Port Huron Statement on June 15 of
1962. Students desired change and became active in the Civil Rights Movement in hopes to change
the attitudes of the citizens in America. The Port Huron Statement reflected ideas of these newly
conscious middle American youth, increased Civil right activism, and created the New Left in regards
to form a more democratic society. The conscious youth yearned for a more favorable democracy.
Students were actively striving to create dialogue to urge everyone to be more aware of the climate
that exists. Born again Middle American, were the words of Tom Hayden, former activist of the New
Left, and author of the Port Huron Statement. Shifting from ideals of a former left society into a new
more liberal and optimistic system changed the perceptions the new left had. In hopes to be the last
generation in the experiment of living, they wanted everyone to be made a part of the majority

C. S. Lewis The Screwtape Letters
As a way to discuss his beliefs and thoughts on his faith, government system, society in that time and
mankind in general, C.S. Lewis created The Screwtape Letters, a book in the form of letters from
senior demon Screwtape to his nephew Wormwood, a sort of demonic trainee. For all purposes, they
are lectures, but lectures jazzed up and made more suitable for a students mind. After reading the
book, I was really enlightened and reminded of the truths that we humans should believe about God.
God loves us and He does not want anyone of us to perish but He wants us to have eternal life with
Him and so He his Son to die for us and pay for our sins (John 3:16). In order to have eternal life, we
have to accept Jesus in our life and believe

Rights And Other Things I Like About America
Today I will be talking about how the people of the United States of America believe in their country.
Have you ever wondered why people around the country believe in the U.S.A. Well now you can with
my essay. What rights and other things do you like that we have here in America? Do you like that we
have the right to own weapons bare our arms to protect ourselves? The next right I like is that we have
the right to vote to see who will go and represent our country. I also like that we allow women to vote
to see who becomes president. The other right I like is that no matter who you are you will always get
fair punishments. The last thing I like about America is that we have the National Football League
(NFL). The freedoms I like that

Theatre Application Essay
Oh God, I m bleeding! There I stood, being crucified while hanging from a light rack at the end of the
play. When I was on stage that night, singing and making the audience believe all the pain felt real, I
demonstrated the greatest talent I am known to have: acting. My skill peaked at the time I took part in
my high school s musical, Godspell, and I played the main role: Jesus. I started acting officially my
freshman year. I felt like an outcast in school, and since I thought the theatre program was meant for
weird people, I decided to audition for a play. The basis of my talent started with The Merchant of
Venice by William Shakespeare, where I learned that there is more to acting than memorizing lines.
Going into my sophomore year, I took part in The Seagull by Anton Chekov. My theatre director took
me through a long acting exercise called The Meisner technique that challenged me to connect
emotionally with other actors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This significantly affected my skill level because I had to put together everything I had learned the
past year about acting into one week.
Theatre challenged me the most junior year. The first play that year was The Curious Savage by John
Patrick. The role I played helped me develop the skill to act as an antagonist different from the
comedic characters I had portrayed in the past.
Last but not least: Godspell by Stephen Schwartz. The first musical that my school produced in a long
time helped me demonstrate everything I learned and more! I had to memorize the most lines,
emotionally connect with everyone in the cast, and show that I had a harsh side even though I was the
protagonist.
For the past three years, I have developed an acting skill through dedication and perseverance.
Although I am not a theatre major, acting and theatre is where I found my best friends and who I

The Little Mermaid Feminist Criticism
Hans Christian Andersen s story, The Little Mermaid talks about a girl who saves a young man from
drowning and falls in love with him, and she later learns that the young man she saved was a prince.
In this world women believe that they are not capable of doing nothing or being nothing without a
man in their lives. Disney s film, The Little Mermaid , by Ron Clements and John Musker, present a
version that makes an appearance for children, so it is harder to catch on where a woman needs a man
in her life whether it is her father or a husband. In the Disney film the director makes the mermaid
(Ariel) look so vulnerable and weak for a young woman. Women now these days say that they were
made to believe that they have to depend on a man because they will not make it without them. In the
story the author made it seem like all women cannot do want they want or that they are limited to do
and say certain things because they are women. Women grow up to believe and to think that they need
a man because that is how many men and society made women and young girls look like. So, part of
this faulting it the men because they beliefs are that women cannot do what they do or that women and
young girls belong at home to behave right and look pretty for the men. Andersen is a good example
of Feminist and Gender criticism because women should believe that they can make it without having
to rely on a man. Women should start believing that they are as equal as a man whether it s at a job,
relationship, at home, and in society because we are not meant to be looked at as a fragile and weak
woman, we are supposed to show everyone that women should be equal to men on all types of levels.
Andersen examines representation of gender, dependence, and cultural stability to explore notions of
equality in gender. Andersen examines representation of gender because both men and women need to
be looked upon as equals with one another. For example, there are many times when a women needs
help and most men think that she is a damsel in distress , because a woman that needs saving looks
fragile and needs a man to save her. This also shows that usually the women are the ones being saved,
so that the men can be the ones doing

The Religions Of Afro Brazilian Religions
Throughout this chapter there were eight major woman centered religions discussed. Afro Brazilian
Religions; which seems to incorporate elements of Amerindian religions, African tribal religions,
Catholicism, and Kardecism. Public rituals in which a female medium would be possessed by spirits
was a main feature of this religion. Black Carib Religion; This religion had some of the same main
features as Afro Brazilian religions such as communicating with spirits and instead of female mediums
contacting the spirits in this case the older women would be the spiritual leaders. A majority of Black
Caribs are Roman Catholics as well. The next religion discussed was the Burmese Nat Religion; they
have a lot of the same beliefs as the previous two religions. Most rituals were preformed by women
and almost all of the shamans are women. Burmese Nat Religions coexists with Buddhist Practices.
Christian Science was created by Mary Baker Eddy in the 1800s. They basically believe that self
healing happens after a balance of prayer and study. This religion in the most different so far. It doesn t
seem to have the same spiritual beliefs and rituals. Korean Household Religion is where Korean
women give up offerings for the well being of their homes to the gods. They also call upon female
shamans for advice. I ve noticed that so far, Women are expected to grow spiritually through
themselves and they rely on other women for guidance. I wonder why men and women can grow in
spirituality together?

The Impact Of Social Dimensions On World Health...
Social Dimension
Based on World Health Organization statistics, global economic interdependence has led to an
astonishing increase of the population and higher standards of living (Who.int, 2016). For instance,
Lagos used to have a population of 41,000 in 1900 (Cahoon, n.d.). A century later, Lagos records an
astonishing population number of 8 million (World Population Review, 2016). The traveling from one
place to another resulted in denser population centers. For instance, China has 150 million people that
left the countryside to the cities for the past 20 years (Williams, 2012, 76). Such shift can also be seen
mainly in the U.S. and Europe in different work sectors; from agriculture and manufacturing to service
healthcare, retail, education, technology, entertainment and the list can go on. This shift allowed for
changing worldviews and especially a change in the psychology of the upper class living in the
industrialized world (Stopford, Strange and Henley, 1991, 82 87). Frederic Jameson says we are... so
far removed from the realities of production and work that we inhabit a dream world of artificial
stimuli and televised experience (Jameson, 1972, Preface p. xvii). This supports the argument made by
many historians who believe that globalization has led to a celebration of individualism (Elliott and
Lemert, 2009, pp.17). Going back to the Depression and World War II, the population then faced a
large scale collectivist response to an individualistic absence. Part

Importance Of Life In My Life
Where have we been and WHAT HAPPENED IN ZIMBABWE?!?!? It s been too long and it s
completely our fault Much to my chagrin turns out Chindi was right it has been over two months!
Shame on us! Did you think we had given up? No, we will never surrender! We went live 07/11/17
with ambitious goals. Partially I was motivated to get started rather than stuck in the what if s, how s,
and logistics. The go live was effective in prompting us to jump in and get to work. Where we have
lacked is in our consistency, then we have been beset with an onset of monumental life changes that
have caused us to come to a grinding halt. HOWEVER, there is a lesson, of course, and our motto is
problems are opportunities . Where have we been? At the radius we are about expansion and behind
the scenes there has been tons of growth. Myself, I continue to work during the day, as well as
volunteer and coordinate community based events. In addition to that, I applied for and was appointed
to a vacant school board seat. Given that I wanted to perform well, and increase my learning curve I
devoted many hours in training to my new role. This was a detriment to my ability to record episodes,
do social media and blog posts. What I have learned/modified about my behavior is spacing doing all
the things I love to do, but less of them. Being deliberate about giving myself space. Also I go to bed
earlier, and thus wake up at 4:30am, most days, which affords me a lot of productivity time to work

1. what is the smallest unit of evolution and why is this important to understand? The population is the
smallest unit of evolution . This is important to understand because it keeps clear what is evolving.
2. Define the following terms:
a. Microevolution: evolutionary change below the species level; change in the genetic makeup of a
population from generation to generation. It is evolutionary change on its smallest scale
b. Population: a localized group of individuals that belong to the same biological species, capable of
interbreeding and producing viable offspring.
c. Population genetics: the study of how populations change genetically over time.

This helps a population making all individuals a little be different because then if there is a problem
such as a disease. There is a better chance that the disease will only affect a small portion of the
population. This alters every ones phenotypes.
10. What is the relationship between mutation rates and generation span? The mutation rates rise as
the generation spans decrease. In animals and plants, there is only about one mutation in every
100,000 genes per generation.
11. Define the following: Genetic drift: unpredictable fluctuations in allele frequencies, reduces
genetic variation over time through such losses of alleles
Bottleneck effect: when environmental change greatly reduces a population, the ratio of genes is
mixed up. Certain alleles may be over/underrepresented among the survivor. Usually occurs from a
natural disaster.
Founder effect: isolated individuals of a population establish a new population → limited gene pool
Gene flow: genetic additions and/or subtractions from a population resulting from the movement of
gametes
12. Why would we discuss adaptive evolution and what role does natural selection play? Adaptive
evolution is what allows organisms to live in changing environments. Adaptations are the result of
natural selection. Natural selection allows organisms to adapt to changing environments so they can
benefit from an environment.
13. Give examples of phenotypical variation that is not inheritable. A

How Do Customer Relationships Give Companies A Competitive...
Question 1: How do customer relationships give companies a competitive edge?
Through sustaining the customer relationships, leaders of the company have realized that becoming
nearer to the consumer is vital for the progression.
Together consumers and buyers of the trade have extra options through authorization from mobile and
online channels that create more options to purchase, get and give suggestions, and converse back
with the companies.
Currently consumers freely turn away from any well accepted company if it does not fulfill their
necessities. Through the consumer associations, companies get the response regarding their services
and products from the consumers. From this response, companies get the difficulties or the concerns
of the consumers as regards to their product such as quality concerns, difficulty to usage, and etc.
From the response of the consumers, companies make enhancements in their products as per the
necessities of the consumers. From the approach or the associations with the consumers, companies
get a chance to gratify their consumers and build up a competitive edge. This mechanism facilitates
companies to stay with and goes ahead from their competition. Therefore, consumer relationships help
the companies to make a competitive edge. (How to build a customer centered organization to gain

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants have been two of the oldest teams to play at a pro
level, both established in 1883 in New York. The Giants were originally known as the New York
Gothams and then became the New York Giants in 1886, and the Dodgers were originally the
Brooklyn Atlantics and changed to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1932. In 1958 they would both move to
California and the Giants would go to San Francisco and the Dodgers, Los Angeles. As the rivalry has
grown, it is regarded as one of the greatest and longest lasting rivalries in baseball history. This would

Both teams have seen a number of players fall to injury directly affecting their win loss record, and for
the two teams, a number of players that are irreplaceable are still on the DL. Clayton Kershaw is the
biggest name that is on the Dodgers DL and Mac Williams for the Giants. Both teams have shown
signs of greatness during this year; the Giants were the best team heading into the second half of the
season and now the Dodgers are one of the best teams heading into the postseason. Hopefully, the
Giants can get out of their hiccup and the Dodgers can continue to play as well as they are.
Fortunately, there are nine more scheduled game that the Dodgers and Giants will play against each
other including tonight. The three upcoming games with the Giants and Dodgers will be played in LA
and the next six will be in San Francisco. Players like Corey Seager, Justin Turner, Adrian Gonzalez,
and Chase Utley have played great as of late and Brandon Crawford, Angel Pagan, Hunter Pence, and
Denard Span have played the best as of late for the Giants. Hopefully, the Giants Dodgers upcoming
games will produce a lot of offense and maybe the Giants can come out of the slump, but the Dodgers
will try not to let that happen. These players will incredibly important if each side wants to win. For

Dental Implants Advantages And Disadvantages
Dentures
Dentures are a very popular option, when it comes to replacing missing teeth. For years, they were
arguably the most popular option on the market. However, there are many reasons why dentures may
not not be the best option for you, depending on a wide variety of different factors. For example, many
people complain about the fake and unnatural feel of dentures, as well as the discomfort. Dentures
also tend to move around quite a bit, and they also need to be removed on a regular basis, to be
cleaned. If all of this sounds a little unpleasant, you will be happy to know there are many other
options available, for replacing teeth. One of the most popular choices, are dental implants. Dental
implants are advantageous for a number of reasons, one of the most important being that they feel and
function much more like your own teeth. Here at By Design, we specialize in the revolutionary All on

How Did Marco Polo Affect The Economy
Marco Polo
In the Start of the 13th century one merchant, Marco Polo, made his extensive voyage from the
flourishing Europe to the New empire of the Mongols that was continuing to expand and economy
was thriving. As the Mongols began the new Silk Road stretching from Europe to Asia, for the first
time the two empires were connected. Marco Polo was exposed to this new world and was surprised in
all the extravagant architecture, intimidating armies, and the complexities of their trading world
(Marco Polo, p. 7). Marco Polo was a European merchant, whose experiences in Asia were interpreted
in economic terms.

Marco Polo describes this new experience, It is in this city of Khan balik that the Great Khan has his

trees to be precise, from the mulberry trees... then it is crumbled and pounded and flattened out with
the aid of glue into sheets like sheets of cotton paper, which are all black. When made, they are cut up
into rectangles of assorted sizes, longer that they broad. Marco Polo continues to describe how the
assorted sizes determine the different worth with a seal of the Great Khan on each of them (Marco
Polo, p. 122). This exchange of this paper money was exchanged throughout the Mongolian empire,
And I assure you that all the peoples and populations who are subject to his rule are perfectly willing
to accept these papers in payment, since wherever they go they pay in the same currency, whether for
goods or for pearls or precious stones or gold or silver (Marco Polo, p. 123). Marco Polo talks about
how the Khan can get his entire to fully accept his trade of paper money throughout the entire empire.
This is an important to note because it was the first time that Marco Polo have heard the idea of paper
money instead of coins and was a new idea to him. People could exchange the paper money for

Why I Learned A Valuable Moral Lesson
Stepping into a new environment and being a part of a new group are always a little uneasy, and most
people will worry a transfer to a place where they only know a little acquaintance. However, I am
always confident to overcome the nervousness, use my experience to blend in with the new campus
environment, and make a valued contribution. Being confronted with the challenge of living in the
unfamiliar environment empowers my curiosity, emboldens my desire to succeed, and strengthens my
foundation of preservation and self discipline. Through my experiences, I have learned a valuable
moral lesson is that everything has a price. If we keep our goal consistently, work hard, and do not
give up when things are difficult; eventually, the payback is worth the effort.
My popularity is also highlighted by my compassion, my ethical principles of treating people with
respect, charity and fairness no matter what their circumstances are. In the healthcare environment, I
believe that respect is very crucial in improving the patient experience. The volunteer experience at
many hospitals and communities teaches me appreciate the life value, the importance of diversity of
the population, and understand more relationship between human with human. These values will
strongly strengthen social connections between people and contribute to friendliness and cohesion on
campus. Besides that, volunteering at places where sickness and disadvantage existed gives me a
sense of belonging to humanity and

Labor Unions Essay
Labor Unions
Throughout American history, labor unions have served to facilitate mediation between workers and
employers. Workers seek to negotiate with employers for more control over their labor and its fruits. A
labor union can best be defined as an organization that exists for the purpose of representing its
members to their employers regarding wages and terms and conditions of employment (Hunter).
Labor unions principal objectives are to increase wages, shorten work days, achieve greater benefits,
and improve working conditions. Despite these goals, the early years of union formation were
characterized by difficulties (Hunter).

To help bring about congressional change, the National Labor Union was created in 1866 to pressure
Congress to make labor law reforms (Library of Congress). It was composed of national associations
of unions with trade printers, machinists, stone cutters and others (American Federationist).
But the National Labor Union did not remain long in existence and was forced to terminate in 1873
due to an economic depression. Depressions often prolonged the goals of labor unions because the
desperation for work due to high unemployment rates rendered strikes ineffective. The National Labor
Union was not without some success however. It heightened public awareness of labor issues and
increased public support for labor reform in the 1870s and 1880s (Library of Congress).
Followed directly on the heels of the National Labor Union was the Knights of Labor, founded in
1869, and the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions in 1881. The Knights was an all

Are Being Humans An Endangered Species Summary
A.) What are the issues and conclusions of the article?
The issue is that technology is becoming more advanced and robots are becoming more intelligent,
putting the existence of human beings in danger.
The conclusion is we must prevent technology getting too advanced and too dangerous and we must
tell this to inventors and creators of technology.
B.) What reasons are given that support those conclusions?
Scientific developments has caused problems, like antibiotics being overused and leading to stronger
and more deadly viruses.
Atomic science leads to more bombing and destruction, harming plenty of innocent people.

Exploration Of Myself As A Learner
Exploration of Myself as a Learner I went to Strath Haven, a public high school in a fairly wealthy
suburb of Philadelphia. Because my school district was academically successful and did not suffer
financially, I was able to enjoy many perks that other schools have been forced to cut such as a rich
arts program and myriad electives. In addition to an honors track, Strath Haven offers many Advanced
Placement courses and allows students to take classes at nearby Swarthmore College. In high school, I
probably would have been described as a well rounded student : I was an AP/honors student, took a
class at Swarthmore, competed as a three season athlete, and presided over the book club. As I will
discuss later in my profile, I struggled a lot with time management skills, a problem I would say has
worsened since I started university. For the most part, though, my teachers naturally catered to my
learning needs. However, while I was still there, Strath Haven used the Integrated Math Program,
which purports to foster creative and critical thinking because it calls on students to experiment with
examples, look for and articulate patterns, and make, test, and prove conjectures (IMP website).
Instead, IMP made me feel lost, and I yearned for the example based approach used by my middle
school teachers. I was unsurprised when the test in Brain Based Strategies identified me as a strong
left brain. This definitely reminded me of my experiences with IMP because, according to

Common Mistakes in Writing: Comma Splice
In your writing, there are 3 major problems that we commonly have to address as
teachers/instructors/professors/etc. I want you to take the time to read about these. While we don t
expect this to fix your issues instantly, we are hoping that you ll aim to make less of these mistakes in
the future (especially on your papers, where these errors WILL be counted off for).
Comma Splice Commas are tricky because there are so many different ways you can use them, but
one of the most common ways to use commas is to separate two main clauses that are connected by a
coordinating conjunction. That just means that when you join two things that could be sentences on
their own with a word such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You ll notice that with run on sentences and comma splices, the two are very similar issues and solved
in the same manner. It s a good rule of thumb to remember them together. If you need any help,
contact Dr. Wilson or myself.
Common Mistakes in Writing: Sentence Fragments
The last major error that we encounter in writing is the sentence fragment. These are a bit trickier to
solve than the other two issues, but you should have no problem as long as you take your time with
them.
Sentence Fragment A part of a sentence that is punctuated as a complete sentence. It may lack a
subject, a predicate, or both, or it may be a dependent clause. It can be fixed in one of three ways:
He quit his job. And cleared out his desk. (the second sentence is wrong)
This deals with a missing subject or predicate. These are usually the result of faulty punctuation of a
compound predicate. Either add the subject, or change the punctuation to incorporate the fragment
into the preceding sentence:
He quite his job. And he cleared out his desk.
Or:
He quit his job and cleared out his desk.
A missing or incomplete predicate is often the result of using a verbal instead of a finite verb. Usually,
the best remedy is addition of a helping verb:
Sheila waiting to see you.
Becomes:
Sheila is waiting to see you.
Although a dependent clause has a subject and a predicate, it cannot stand alone as a sentence because
it begins with a relative

Kumar Sambhav
Kumarsambhav :the birth of war god
Kumārasambhava is a Sanskrit epic poem by Kālidāsa; the first eight cantos (sargas) are accepted as
his authorship [1], the last nine may be later additions. The period of composition is uncertain,
Kalidasa is thought of as having lived in the 5th c. AD.
Kumarsambhava is widely regarded as one of Kalidasa s finest works, a paradigmatic example of
Kāvya poetry. The style of description of spring set the standard for nature metaphors pervading many
centuries of Indian literary tradition[
Kumārasambhava literally means Birth of Kumara , i.e. Kartikeya. This epic of seventeen cantos

Mild, pleasant breeze began to blow from the south. Flowers were sprinkling down from Ashoka trees.
Birds and the bees began to savor the fresh flower of the young mango leaves.
But all this would not deter Lord Shiva from his penance. Kama went there. Shiva was doing his
penance sitting on a tiger skin under a Devadaru tree. Kama was overwhelmed on seeing the exquisite
grace of Lord and the cupid s bow and arrow fell down without his being aware of it. At this time,
Parvati arrived on the scence to attend to her daily chores of service to the Lord. She wore a saree
colored like the bright red rays of the Sun. Nice spring flowers adorned her plait. A diamond chain
shone on her forehead. Her gait was like that of a delicate flower creeper.
This great beauty of Parvati inspired Kama, who hitherto was somewhat, dejected, again to strive to
fulfil his task. Parvati raised her hands to offer her garland of lotus flowers to Shiva who also eagerly
came out of his penance to accept the offering. Kama was waiting for such a moment and exercised
his sword of love . Shiva eyed Parvati once and immediately realised that he had been weaned away.
From his penance. How could this happen?
Kama, Cupid, was ready with his and arrow for action.
Lord Shiva was angry and opened his Third Eye. A great fire flowed forth. Kama was burnt to ashes
and Shiva then disappeared. Rati, seeing her husband destroyed collapsed unconscious. Parvati s
father sorrowfully took her to his home.

National Park Volcano
Yellowstone National Park is a historical site of some of the largest calderas on the planet. Today it is
visited by more than 2.7 million visitors every year and is considered one of our country s greatest
national landmarks. However, in recent times, scientists have begun to question the hard truth that
someday within in this century, the super volcano could once again erupt. Currently the volcano is still
active with signs that another pyroclastic explosion may soon happen.

that has the same quality with a lower price and get the same benefits that Kodak provided.
2. Should Pacific s supply policies allow for any medical staff personnel to control sourcing
decisions? Yes I do believe that medical staff should be involved in sourcing decisions and the quality
of the product. The medical staff are the ones that are using the film on a daily basis. Communication
between Mr. Rubble and the medical staff is important.
3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of staying with Kodak or changing suppliers? How
would you evaluate these? Staying with Kodak you already know what you are getting and have a

He could have found out why he stayed with Kodak for so long and if he had ever researched the other

The Culinary World Of Culinary Arts
Burning sherbets, instantly frozen ice cream, pasta made out of jelly or vegetables, edible menus,
kitchens with sonicators, pH meters, liquid nitrogen, which can flash freeze almost anything, makes it
feel almost like magic or something out of a fantasy or science fiction novel. But it is not, in fact it is
part of culinary arts, where innovation has taken wings, and revolutionized the art and science of
cooking. Terms like culinary science, culinology and molecular gastronomy have become part of the
innovative culinary world. Innovation is communicated and translated into culinary arts, especially by
chefs and others involved in the industry through creative adaptations, like molecular gastronomy,
culinology, fusions, transformations, co creation etc. Innovation spans through different areas of the
culinary world and is not only limited to the process of cooking, but also to understand the consumers,
as well as to develop different utensils and incorporate other means of technology. (Várela, 2013)
In the world of innovative culinary arts, culinology, a term coined by Winston Riley, founder and
former president of the Research Chefs Association (RCA), is considered as the approach to food, that
blends culinary arts and food technology in an effort to make food better, safer and more consistent.

Sociology Of Sex And Gender Essay
Ajibola Olayinka
Sociology of sex and gender
Professor Taylor Houston
8th November, 2016.
My beliefs and view on the gender ideology towards work and family is more weighed on one side
(Masculine) and partly on the other (Feminine). It is evident that the Masculine gender is more
dominant in our society and because of this; there is more expectation and responsibility for the
masculine gender. However, there is a continual inclusion trend in which we are witnessing the
feminine gender assume some roles of the masculine gender. But overall, the masculine effect is still
dominant. I personally feel that there should be a good balance of work and family responsibility by
the men. It is necessary that the Men are mostly responsible for taking the role of the breadwinner of
the family therefore, the working hours of the men would have to be met as required by the employer.
For example, working 40 hours a week is the minimum in the US but varies in some other places. In a
case whereby the man has to take an overtime shift just to meet the needs of the family. The core
responsibility of a family depends on both the man and the woman. This also varies depending on the
family. In my opinion, I would expect both genders o take equal responsibility. The feminine gender is
mostly associated with the child care activities and the house chores while the Masculine gender is
associated with the providing for the family and helping the feminine gender. In as much as there will

The Nature Of Nature In The Rainy Day By Henry Wadsworth...
Since the beginning of time, nature has always been there to support and nourish everything that
inhabits it. This goes from the plants to the animals that live their everyday lives depending on nature
s support. However nature has been around for so long that we humans have become accustomed to it
always being there. This has caused us to take it for granted which is why we never stop to see the
deeper meaning and lessons nature has to offer. Nature has many other important values beyond it
being just a resource, it is also a teacher of many important life values. Many poets have written about
the true beauty of nature and its deeper lessons. One of these poets is the famous Henry Wadsworth
Longfellow, who became the first American writer to be honored with a bust in the poet s corner of
London s Westminster Abbey for his amazing poems that inspired life in America. Much of his work
have become classic American hero stories such as Paul Revere s Ride but he also touches upon the
subject of nature and its values. In his first of three poems entitled The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls he
shows how nature is powerful and beautiful compared to us weak humans. In his next poem entitled
The Rainy Day , Longfellow discusses how life has its good and bad times, but one should always
look back to nature to help them conquer their challenges. His final poem named My Cathedral shows
how nature s beauty and lessons are the most important thing in the world and should not be

How Alzheimer s Disease ( Ad ) And Associated Dementias
Contemporary Issues Formative Essay Introduction For the purpose of this essay I will be comparing
how Alzheimer s Disease (AD) and associated dementias are recognised in the United Kingdom (UK)
and responded to, when compared to Italy. I have chosen this subject as there are indications from
both countries that dementia sufferers will increase dramatically over the next twenty years. It is
estimated that there are 800,000 people in the UK with AD and dementia, this number is expected to
double by 2040. At present the cost to the economy is £23 billion, by 2040 the costs are likely to
treble(Gov.UK). REFERENCE NEEDED. In Italy there are approximately 1 million people living
with dementia. (Alzheimer s, 2016) It has been suggested by 2020, it is estimated that 584,000 new
cases of dementia will occur in the country (Choices, 2016). This this will inevitably put a high
demand not only on both National Health Services (NHS) in the UK and in Italy, but also on support
services within the care sector, such as carers, voluntary organisations and also families of AD and
dementia sufferers. This will also increase the workload on social workers as more assessment of need
will have to be carried out to maintain the levels of support needed to sustain an expected quality of
life. I will be addressing legislation and policy s adopted by both countries historically and modern
day. I will also be discussing diagnosis of AD and dementia, funding, ethical and cultural issues,
services

The Influence Of Dragons On East Asian Culture
Dragons are prevalent in myths all across the world. Eastern countries in particular hold dragons in the
highest regard in their cultures. The dragons of East Asian legend have sweeping powers. They
breathe clouds, move the seasons, and control the waters of rivers, lakes, and seas. They are linked
with yang, the masculine principle of heat, light, and action, and opposed to yin, the feminine
principle of coolness, darkness, and repose. Dragons have been part of East Asian culture for more
than 4,000 years. In the religious traditions of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism, they have been
honored as sources of power and bringers of rain. (amnh.org)
Dragons hold more significance in China than nearly anywhere else in the world. They are usually
depicted as brightly colored snakes with legs that, in legend, can be as small as a garden snake or large
enough to connect heaven and earth. These dragons are connected to divine and auspicious powers
that typically control disasters related to water, such as floods or hurricanes. These powers make
dragons a symbol of strength and power among the Chinese people, enough so that ... Show more

We Are The Cosmos Made Conscious And Life Is The Means By...
We are the cosmos made conscious and life is the means by which the universe understands itself.
Brian Cox. What is consciousness? I remember being a student in a NSCS 200 class, answering the
attendance question of whether plants are conscious beings. They aim to fulfill a goal, they sense
things, and with those stimuli, they make actions. So theoretically, they are conscious. But do they
have consciousness? Are they aware what they are doing and why they are doing it? Do they feel
things within themselves? And if the answers are no, what is then the difference between humans and
between plants?
Susan Schneider wrote in The Blackwell Companion to Consciousness, anything that we are at a
given moment forms part of our consciousness, making conscious experience at once the most
familiar and most mysterious aspects of our lives. Searching for the word consciousness in the
dictionary, a definition of the state or quality of awareness, or, of being aware of an external object or
something within oneself could be found. It can also be described as sentience, awareness,
subjectivity, the ability to think or feel, and the executive control of the mind. Many theories of where
consciousness comes from have arisen, but there seems to be an underlying theme of what
consciousness is, in the broader sense, to most theories.
For instance, most theories agree that all sensory organs and their perceptions must combine within
the brain to give us consciousness, and not separate

A Discusion of Two Documentaries, Awaiting for Men and...
This essay attempts to discuss on two documentaries, Awaiting for Men (2007) and Sick: The Life and
Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist (1997), on their reconstruction of truth and reality with
particular emphasis on cinematic language and representation. With documentary becoming more
diverse and diffused due to advanced technology such as the Internet, the realism of first hand
experience and facts may be exaggerated and even fictional. This is achieved through a bombast
proximity and truth which has caused a blurred definition to term documentary. With the
understanding that documentary is a form of factual representation, the aim for truth in the
presentation of reality may be impossible (Chapman, 2009). Hence by comparing with reference to
Awaiting for Men (2007) and Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist (1997), it
would provide a deeper analysis in distinguishing whether the two documentaries were able to
represent the truth of the reality.
Firstly, one need to be aware the reality of the society that each of the documentaries have constructed
in order to gain a better insight to why these documentaries were produced. Awaiting for Men (2007)
presented the life of three strong and independent African women; an intimate conversation with the
women focusing mainly on their timeline as a woman in Africa from a young adult woman to a

Cardiomyopathy, Raynaud s And Perfusion
Cardiomyopathy, Raynaud s and Perfusion
Adequate perfusion supplies the entire body with necessary oxygen and nutrients to sustain life. The
process of oxygenation and perfusion can be affected by a multitude of factors. A few examples are, a
decreased oxygen carrying capacity, hypovolemia, neuromuscular disease, central nervous system

conditions affecting perfusion are cardiomyopathy and Raynaud s phenomenon.

What Is The Truth That Scout Learned In To Kill A Mockingbird
One truth Scout learns is that not all people are what they seem. For the entirety of the book, Scout
perceived Arthur Radley as a terrifying murderer. When she finally meets Arthur, she realizes she was
wrong. Scout could not understand Arthur because she had not climbed into his skin and walked
around in it (Lee 39). This truth is exceptionally important because in high school there is the
possibility to make many new friends and enemies. One must know that people are not always what
they seem. You should not be quick to judge because you do not know what is going on in their life.
While reading this novel, I pictured Atticus Finch as a younger version of my grandfather. The
physical description matched him, as well as the personality description. My grandpa has a strong
moral code, is civil, and will stand up for what he believes is right. His priority is always family.

degradation over time. Cultural heritage destruction can be defined as the destruction or elimination of
historic sites, artifacts, or materials. Some people, whether it be government, an organization, or
individuals, work to protect and fund the preservation and maintenance of important historic
archeological remains. While other unfortunate sites are demolished, ransacked, or looted due to lack
of protection. Machu Picchu, located in the Andes mountains in Peru, is considered one of the seven
wonders of the world, as well as an archeological marvel built by the Inca people. However, this
historical site has come under protection due to cultural heritage destruction from tourists and
environmental degradation. Over the years, Machu Picchu has begun to erode due to an enormous
amount of tourism and climate changes. Luckily the Peruvian government has begun to take action to
protect one of the world s most well preserved mysteries and architecturally advanced sites of early
modern history.
The Inca Empire lasted throughout the fifteenth and sixteenth century, and was based largely

Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit Case Study
Criteria 1: Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit
Ohio developed this Motion Picture Tax Credit in 2009 to motivate film industries to choose Ohio as
their location and Cleveland has been the popular city to film movies in. Marvel Studios would thrive
under this tax credit because Eligible productions can receive 30 percent on production cast and crew
wages, as well as other eligible in state spending (Ohio Film Office, 2009). $300,000 must be spent on
filming for this tax credit to apply to film producers. Of course, Marvel Studios spends in the millions,
so that would not be a problem.
Through this tax credit, Hollywood has been brought to Cleveland. In a 2016 article, John Kasich s
decision to raise the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Costs in Hollywood tend to be much higher than most places and this is causing Hollywood to leave
Hollywood. Ohio is winning the battle ever since this tax credit was passed because $400 million went
towards the economy. Jobs have been created and Cleveland is not losing money from this $40 million
tax credit. Marvel Studios is a big name movie industry that could perform even better. By moving to
Cleveland, Marvel will increase production while saving money. Producing movies will be better for
everyone as jobs and money will be created in Cleveland while Marvel continues to produce top notch
movies. In the end, this criterion is the most important because the tax credit gives the filming
producers the incentive to come to Cleveland.
Criteria 2: Cleveland s Access to Capital/Resources
Different companies have thrived in moving their headquarters to Cleveland and one of the tech
companies named JumpStart is one of them. Access to capital is one of the reasons why JumpStart
thrived because people were investing in them. Also, Ohio has 150 of the Fortune 500 companies and
Cleveland is one of the major cities where these companies belong (Kuhel, 2017). The Midwest is
growing with Cleveland at the center of it, so that is an aspect that Marvel Studios could thrive in.
With the tax credit in place, Cleveland is creating jobs by movies being filmed. With higher
employment, access

took a substantial toll on the soldier s immune systems on both sides of the war. Both Germany and
Austria Hungary began to lose control of their military structures due to the multiple revolts within
their own governments. In the late fall of 1918, the war finally ended, after the members of each
country of the Central Powers signed the armistice agreements individually; however, Germany was
the last to sign it on November 11th, 1918. Hence, due to these agreements, Austria Hungary was

Poverty rate per 10,000 can be displayed in a dot density map. A dot density shows the concentration of a quality in an area. One dot can represent every 10,000 people. The map will not represent the results correctly if the areas are not in true proportion. Also, if areas are not in the right proportion, countries that are larger will look less dense and countries that are smaller will look too dense. Sources Getty Research Institute (2000). • 3. The Civil Rights Movement Of America America has experienced many periods in history that shape the social system we have today. Many of our adopted attitudes and beliefs have outlined our present and nearing future into a more liberal society. Following World War II, America was placed on a pedestal admired by the world around it for success during the post war period. America had more internal damage that was not reflective of the values the country was set on. Entering the post War period, a group of college students advocated for domestic change writing a manifesto popularly known as the Port Huron Statement on June 15 of 1962. Students desired change and became active in the Civil Rights Movement in hopes to change the attitudes of the citizens in America. The Port Huron Statement reflected ideas of these newly conscious middle American youth, increased Civil right activism, and created the New Left in regards to form a more democratic society. The conscious youth yearned for a more favorable democracy. Students were actively striving to create dialogue to urge everyone to be more aware of the climate that exists. Born again Middle American, were the words of Tom Hayden, former activist of the New Left, and author of the Port Huron Statement. God loves us and He does not want anyone of us to perish but He wants us to have eternal life with Him and so He his Son to die for us and pay for our sins (John 3:16). When I was on stage that night, singing and making the audience believe all the pain felt real, I demonstrated the greatest talent I am known to have: acting. My skill peaked at the time I took part in my high school s musical, Godspell, and I played the main role: Jesus. I started acting officially my freshman year. I felt like an outcast in school, and since I thought the theatre program was meant for weird people, I decided to audition for a play. The basis of my talent started with The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare, where I learned that there is more to acting than memorizing lines. • 8. The Little Mermaid Feminist Criticism Hans Christian Andersen s story, The Little Mermaid talks about a girl who saves a young man from drowning and falls in love with him, and she later learns that the young man she saved was a prince. In this world women believe that they are not capable of doing nothing or being nothing without a man in their lives. Disney s film, The Little Mermaid , by Ron Clements and John Musker, present a version that makes an appearance for children, so it is harder to catch on where a woman needs a man in her life whether it is her father or a husband. In the Disney film the director makes the mermaid (Ariel) look so vulnerable and weak for a young woman. Women now these days say that they were made to believe that they have to depend on a man because they will not make it without them. In the story the author made it seem like all women cannot do want they want or that they are limited to do and say certain things because they are women. Women grow up to believe and to think that they need a man because that is how many men and society made women and young girls look like. So, part of this faulting it the men because they beliefs are that women cannot do what they do or that women and young girls belong at home to behave right and look pretty for the men. Andersen is a good example of Feminist and Gender criticism because women should believe that they can make it without having to rely on a man. Women should start believing that they are as equal as a man whether it s at a job, relationship, at home, and in society because we are not meant to be looked at as a fragile and weak woman, we are supposed to show everyone that women should be equal to men on all types of levels. Andersen examines representation of gender, dependence, and cultural stability to explore notions of equality in gender. Andersen examines representation of gender because both men and women need to be looked upon as equals with one another. For example, there are many times when a women needs help and most men think that she is a damsel in distress , because a woman that needs saving looks fragile and needs a man to save her. This also shows that usually the women are the ones being saved, so that the men can be the ones doing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Religions Of Afro Brazilian Religions Throughout this chapter there were eight major woman centered religions discussed. Afro Brazilian Religions; which seems to incorporate elements of Amerindian religions, African tribal religions, Catholicism, and Kardecism. Public rituals in which a female medium would be possessed by spirits was a main feature of this religion. Black Carib Religion; This religion had some of the same main features as Afro Brazilian religions such as communicating with spirits and instead of female mediums contacting the spirits in this case the older women would be the spiritual leaders. A majority of Black Caribs are Roman Catholics as well. The next religion discussed was the Burmese Nat Religion; they have a lot of the same beliefs as the previous two religions. Most rituals were preformed by women and almost all of the shamans are women. Burmese Nat Religions coexists with Buddhist Practices. Christian Science was created by Mary Baker Eddy in the 1800s. They basically believe that self healing happens after a balance of prayer and study. This religion in the most different so far. It doesn t seem to have the same spiritual beliefs and rituals. Korean Household Religion is where Korean women give up offerings for the well being of their homes to the gods. They also call upon female shamans for advice. I ve noticed that so far, Women are expected to grow spiritually through themselves and they rely on other women for guidance. I wonder why men and women can grow in spirituality together? ... • 10. The Impact Of Social Dimensions On World Health... Social Dimension Based on World Health Organization statistics, global economic interdependence has led to an astonishing increase of the population and higher standards of living (Who.int, 2016). For instance, Lagos used to have a population of 41,000 in 1900 (Cahoon, n.d.). A century later, Lagos records an astonishing population number of 8 million (World Population Review, 2016). The traveling from one place to another resulted in denser population centers. For instance, China has 150 million people that left the countryside to the cities for the past 20 years (Williams, 2012, 76). Such shift can also be seen mainly in the U.S. and Europe in different work sectors; from agriculture and manufacturing to service healthcare, retail, education, technology, entertainment and the list can go on. This shift allowed for changing worldviews and especially a change in the psychology of the upper class living in the industrialized world (Stopford, Strange and Henley, 1991, 82 87). Frederic Jameson says we are... so far removed from the realities of production and work that we inhabit a dream world of artificial stimuli and televised experience (Jameson, 1972, Preface p. xvii). This supports the argument made by many historians who believe that globalization has led to a celebration of individualism (Elliott and Lemert, 2009, pp.17). Going back to the Depression and World War II, the population then faced a large scale collectivist response to an individualistic absence. Part ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s been too long and it s completely our fault Much to my chagrin turns out Chindi was right it has been over two months! Shame on us! Did you think we had given up? No, we will never surrender! We went live 07/11/17 with ambitious goals. Partially I was motivated to get started rather than stuck in the what if s, how s, and logistics. The go live was effective in prompting us to jump in and get to work. Where we have lacked is in our consistency, then we have been beset with an onset of monumental life changes that have caused us to come to a grinding halt. HOWEVER, there is a lesson, of course, and our motto is problems are opportunities . Where have we been? At the radius we are about expansion and behind the scenes there has been tons of growth. Myself, I continue to work during the day, as well as volunteer and coordinate community based events. In addition to that, I applied for and was appointed to a vacant school board seat. Given that I wanted to perform well, and increase my learning curve I devoted many hours in training to my new role. This was a detriment to my ability to record episodes, do social media and blog posts. What I have learned/modified about my behavior is spacing doing all the things I love to do, but less of them. Being deliberate about giving myself space. Also I go to bed earlier, and thus wake up at 4:30am, most days, which affords me a lot of productivity time to work out and work ... In animals and plants, there is only about one mutation in every 100,000 genes per generation. 11. Define the following: Genetic drift: unpredictable fluctuations in allele frequencies, reduces genetic variation over time through such losses of alleles Bottleneck effect: when environmental change greatly reduces a population, the ratio of genes is mixed up. Certain alleles may be over/underrepresented among the survivor. Usually occurs from a natural disaster. Founder effect: isolated individuals of a population establish a new population → limited gene pool Gene flow: genetic additions and/or subtractions from a population resulting from the movement of gametes 12. Through sustaining the customer relationships, leaders of the company have realized that becoming nearer to the consumer is vital for the progression. Together consumers and buyers of the trade have extra options through authorization from mobile and online channels that create more options to purchase, get and give suggestions, and converse back with the companies. Currently consumers freely turn away from any well accepted company if it does not fulfill their necessities. Through the consumer associations, companies get the response regarding their services and products from the consumers. From this response, companies get the difficulties or the concerns of the consumers as regards to their product such as quality concerns, difficulty to usage, and etc. From the response of the consumers, companies make enhancements in their products as per the necessities of the consumers. From the approach or the associations with the consumers, companies get a chance to gratify their consumers and build up a competitive edge. Comma Splice Commas are tricky because there are so many different ways you can use them, but one of the most common ways to use commas is to separate two main clauses that are connected by a coordinating conjunction. These are a bit trickier to solve than the other two issues, but you should have no problem as long as you take your time with them. Sentence Fragment A part of a sentence that is punctuated as a complete sentence. It may lack a subject, a predicate, or both, or it may be a dependent clause. It can be fixed in one of three ways: He quit his job. And cleared out his desk. (the second sentence is wrong) This deals with a missing subject or predicate. These are usually the result of faulty punctuation of a compound predicate. Either add the subject, or change the punctuation to incorporate the fragment into the preceding sentence: He quite his job. And he cleared out his desk. Or: He quit his job and cleared out his desk. A missing or incomplete predicate is often the result of using a verbal instead of a finite verb. Usually, the best remedy is addition of a helping verb: Sheila waiting to see you. But it is not, in fact it is part of culinary arts, where innovation has taken wings, and revolutionized the art and science of cooking. Terms like culinary science, culinology and molecular gastronomy have become part of the innovative culinary world. Innovation is communicated and translated into culinary arts, especially by chefs and others involved in the industry through creative adaptations, like molecular gastronomy, culinology, fusions, transformations, co creation etc. Innovation spans through different areas of the culinary world and is not only limited to the process of cooking, but also to understand the consumers, as well as to develop different utensils and incorporate other means of technology. (Várela, 2013) In the world of innovative culinary arts, culinology, a term coined by Winston Riley, founder and former president of the Research Chefs Association (RCA), is considered as the approach to food, that blends culinary arts and food technology in an effort to make food better, safer and more consistent. • 29. Sociology Of Sex And Gender Essay Ajibola Olayinka Sociology of sex and gender Professor Taylor Houston 8th November, 2016. My beliefs and view on the gender ideology towards work and family is more weighed on one side (Masculine) and partly on the other (Feminine). It is evident that the Masculine gender is more dominant in our society and because of this; there is more expectation and responsibility for the masculine gender. However, there is a continual inclusion trend in which we are witnessing the feminine gender assume some roles of the masculine gender. But overall, the masculine effect is still dominant. I personally feel that there should be a good balance of work and family responsibility by the men. It is necessary that the Men are mostly responsible for taking the role of the breadwinner of the family therefore, the working hours of the men would have to be met as required by the employer. For example, working 40 hours a week is the minimum in the US but varies in some other places. In a case whereby the man has to take an overtime shift just to meet the needs of the family. The core responsibility of a family depends on both the man and the woman. This also varies depending on the family. In my opinion, I would expect both genders o take equal responsibility. The feminine gender is mostly associated with the child care activities and the house chores while the Masculine gender is associated with the providing for the family and helping the feminine gender. • 30. The Nature Of Nature In The Rainy Day By Henry Wadsworth... Since the beginning of time, nature has always been there to support and nourish everything that inhabits it. This goes from the plants to the animals that live their everyday lives depending on nature s support. However nature has been around for so long that we humans have become accustomed to it always being there. This has caused us to take it for granted which is why we never stop to see the deeper meaning and lessons nature has to offer. Nature has many other important values beyond it being just a resource, it is also a teacher of many important life values. Many poets have written about the true beauty of nature and its deeper lessons. One of these poets is the famous Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who became the first American writer to be honored with a bust in the poet s corner of London s Westminster Abbey for his amazing poems that inspired life in America. Much of his work have become classic American hero stories such as Paul Revere s Ride but he also touches upon the subject of nature and its values. In his first of three poems entitled The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls he shows how nature is powerful and beautiful compared to us weak humans. In his next poem entitled The Rainy Day , Longfellow discusses how life has its good and bad times, but one should always look back to nature to help them conquer their challenges. His final poem named My Cathedral shows how nature s beauty and lessons are the most important thing in the world and should not be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Alzheimer s Disease ( Ad ) And Associated Dementias Contemporary Issues Formative Essay Introduction For the purpose of this essay I will be comparing how Alzheimer s Disease (AD) and associated dementias are recognised in the United Kingdom (UK) and responded to, when compared to Italy. I have chosen this subject as there are indications from both countries that dementia sufferers will increase dramatically over the next twenty years. It is estimated that there are 800,000 people in the UK with AD and dementia, this number is expected to double by 2040. At present the cost to the economy is £23 billion, by 2040 the costs are likely to treble(Gov.UK). REFERENCE NEEDED. In Italy there are approximately 1 million people living with dementia. (Alzheimer s, 2016) It has been suggested by 2020, it is estimated that 584,000 new cases of dementia will occur in the country (Choices, 2016). This this will inevitably put a high demand not only on both National Health Services (NHS) in the UK and in Italy, but also on support services within the care sector, such as carers, voluntary organisations and also families of AD and dementia sufferers. This will also increase the workload on social workers as more assessment of need will have to be carried out to maintain the levels of support needed to sustain an expected quality of life. I will be addressing legislation and policy s adopted by both countries historically and modern day. I will also be discussing diagnosis of AD and dementia, funding, ethical and cultural issues, services ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Influence Of Dragons On East Asian Culture Dragons are prevalent in myths all across the world. Eastern countries in particular hold dragons in the highest regard in their cultures. The dragons of East Asian legend have sweeping powers. They breathe clouds, move the seasons, and control the waters of rivers, lakes, and seas. They are linked with yang, the masculine principle of heat, light, and action, and opposed to yin, the feminine principle of coolness, darkness, and repose. Dragons have been part of East Asian culture for more than 4,000 years. In the religious traditions of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism, they have been honored as sources of power and bringers of rain. They are usually depicted as brightly colored snakes with legs that, in legend, can be as small as a garden snake or large enough to connect heaven and earth. • 33. We Are The Cosmos Made Conscious And Life Is The Means By... We are the cosmos made conscious and life is the means by which the universe understands itself. Brian Cox. What is consciousness? I remember being a student in a NSCS 200 class, answering the attendance question of whether plants are conscious beings. They aim to fulfill a goal, they sense things, and with those stimuli, they make actions. So theoretically, they are conscious. But do they have consciousness? Are they aware what they are doing and why they are doing it? Do they feel things within themselves? And if the answers are no, what is then the difference between humans and between plants? Susan Schneider wrote in The Blackwell Companion to Consciousness, anything that we are at a given moment forms part of our consciousness, making conscious experience at once the most familiar and most mysterious aspects of our lives. Searching for the word consciousness in the dictionary, a definition of the state or quality of awareness, or, of being aware of an external object or something within oneself could be found. It can also be described as sentience, awareness, subjectivity, the ability to think or feel, and the executive control of the mind. Many theories of where consciousness comes from have arisen, but there seems to be an underlying theme of what consciousness is, in the broader sense, to most theories. For instance, most theories agree that all sensory organs and their perceptions must combine within the brain to give us consciousness, and not separate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay attempts to discuss on two documentaries, Awaiting for Men (2007) and Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist (1997), on their reconstruction of truth and reality with particular emphasis on cinematic language and representation. With documentary becoming more diverse and diffused due to advanced technology such as the Internet, the realism of first hand experience and facts may be exaggerated and even fictional. This is achieved through a bombast proximity and truth which has caused a blurred definition to term documentary. With the understanding that documentary is a form of factual representation, the aim for truth in the presentation of reality may be impossible (Chapman, 2009). Hence by comparing with reference to Awaiting for Men (2007) and Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist (1997), it would provide a deeper analysis in distinguishing whether the two documentaries were able to represent the truth of the reality. Firstly, one need to be aware the reality of the society that each of the documentaries have constructed in order to gain a better insight to why these documentaries were produced. Awaiting for Men (2007) presented the life of three strong and independent African women; an intimate conversation with the women focusing mainly on their timeline as a woman in Africa from a young adult woman to a married life.
