Questions On Grasp Problem Solving Method
GRASP Problem Solving Method
Given You need to figure out the important information in the question.
Required What do I have to do to answer the question?
Application What is my plan to solve the question?
Solve Use your plan to solve the problem.
Paraphrase Write a couple of sentences about your answer and how you found it.
Example: Shane is setting up for his birthday party. There are 50 people coming to the party. If each
table holds 6 people, how many table does he need?
Given 1 table = 6 people 2 tables = 10 people 3 tables = 14 people
Required We need to find out how many table he needs.
Application We could use repeated addition make a chart draw pictures make a graph
Solve Use a chart
# of tables # of people
1 6
2 10
3 14

Sumerian Cuneiform Inventions
An important technological advancement in the history of mankind was the invention of writing
language. Known as cuneiform at the time, its origination hailed from a place in southern
Mesopotamia called Sumer in 3500 3000 BCE. The process during its invention involved making
markings in wet clay with a reed like instrument. The reason for its invention was for the flourishment
of commerce. The Sumerians needed a way to communicate with merchants and customers from
between large expanses of land and sea. They used pictographs in order to scale the quantity of
resources required in the trade and represent different objects. To communicate ideas more complex
than financial transactions or lists and quantities, a more elaborate writing system was

Man In The Mirror by Michael Jackson
Man in the Mirror , a song released in 1988 on Michael Jackson s seventh album BAD . In this song,
Michael Jackson s purpose is to exhort me, you and everyone who listens to this song to start with
themselves if they want to make the world a better place.
When Michael Jackson released this song, there were hunger and endless wars in some parts of the
world, mainly in Africa. A large number of children was starving to death in those areas. Michael,
through his song, called out people to make a difference in the world by first taking a look and
examine themselves Man in the Mirror.
His intended audience for this song is everyone who listens to this song. ... Show more content on

The listener hears these words by Michael but these words seem to describe our daily experience. This
makes an appeal to pathos, stirring emotions. Michael wants the listener to remember that there are
people in our communities who suffer and that we should first care about them rather than pretending
not to see that they need our help.
As I turned up the collar on my favorite winter coat this wind is blowing my mind.
Although he can remove himself physically from the problems he sees all around him using his winter
coat as a physical protector Michael can t escape or run away from the torment of his own mind,
knowing there s more he can do to change the world.

White Privilege And Black Privilege
The term privilege is when a person has the right or confused with having the right to do something.
For example, for someone to advance their education is not a privilege perhaps it is a right. In some
cases during certain situation person can be granted the privilege. White privilege is a word greatly
used in social rights that advantage individuals to be acknowledged as white in Western countries, afar
what is frequently proficient by non white individuals in the same social, political, or economic
conditions (Rothenberg, 2016). However, when a certain race color is treated more superior than
another race is giving the advantage or benefit to have the opportunity to do anything they want
without anyone trying to stop them.
According to the authors, what practice(s) create white privilege is viewed in their own unique
perspective but, it all fits up under one category of a specific race having the advantage to have their
freedom to do what they like. Based on McIntosh view that whites in Western societies adore
recompenses that non whites do not practice, as an undistinguishable package of unjustified assets
(Rothenberg, 2016). White freedom represents together evident and not as much of evident submissive
rewards that white people may possibly not identify they require, which differentiates it from explicit
favoritism or preconception. In fact, they have been accepted as the better social status in addition to
freedom to move, buy, work, play, and speak freely. It

The Importance Of The Leap Test
It was a Monday morning March 12, 2012 my parents would watch the news every morning and the
forecast was severe scattered storms for the morning hours. Heading to School on the bus I can hear
the thunder booming and cracking and the rain hitting the bus sounded like rocks. Today was testing
day for the fifth graders for the Leap test, a test mandatory to pass to go to the next grade. Loud
thundering stuns me and the whole class during the test, so she checks the weather and told us it was
just passing through. I continue to take my test hearing loud shots of thunder and rain tapping on the
window of the classroom. Now it s been over 2 hours of rain just towering over the school and we

Summary Of Howard Zinn And The American Pageant
Arguably one of the most important parts of US history is the American Revolution. Without the
revolution there would be no United States because it never would have broke apart from Britain.
Howard Zinn s A People s History of The United States, and David Kennedy s The American Pageant
both discuss the American Revolution. When describing the revolution, Zinn chooses to describe the
different points of view of the everyday people in the colonies and the people in charge, while
Kennedy describes the colonists as all having one perspective. The result is that Zinn paints a more
full picture of the events including the first protests, the Boston Massacre, and the Boston Tea Party.
The first example of the differences in the descriptions of the colonists points of view between Zinn
and Kennedy takes place when they explain the events leading up to the revolution. They both
describe the Stamp Act as one of the first sources of unrest in the colonies. When describing the
protests against the act, Zinn says, In Boston, the economic grievances of the lowest classes mingled
with anger against the British and exploded in mob violence. The leaders of the Independence
movement wanted to use that mob energy against England (Zinn, 65). He makes a distinction between
the poor and the rich and their attitudes. The poor were angry about economic inequality as well as
what England was doing, but the leaders of the revolution, the rich, wanted them to focus their anger

A Psychoanalysis of Edward Gein Essay
I have chosen to write my Case Study paper on Edward Gein from the Psychodynamic theoretical
perspective. I believe that his behavior is a perfect case for the psychodynamic perspective because of
the family dynamic in his home. These circumstances led to the actions that would become the
inspiration for many books and movie characters because of the oddity and extreme nature of his
human interactions. Possibly the first crime that Edward committed was killing his older brother. This
has significance on the psychological level because Edward s older brother began to disagree with
their mother s world perspective and I believe this was the motivation for this crime. He loved his
mother very much possibly to the point of Parent Child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He took the skin of these women s bodies and tanned them making artifacts for around the house and
even a suit of their skins that he could wear and pretend that he was a woman. This seems to be an
extreme and unique case of a type of Gender Identity Disorder. Because of his secluded lifestyle
without a connection to the outside world these behaviors along with others went unnoticed until a
woman disappeared from a hardware store where he was witnessed to have been at the same time as
the disappearance. When the search lead to his farm not only did the police find that he did murder the
victim, but that he had been mutilating scores of corpses. Her body was found hanging by the ankles
with her head decapitated from her body. There was also another woman who appeared to be
murdered by Gein, and the remains of many other bodies. Edward Gein has reached legendary status
because of what he did to the bodies of the women he dug up from the cemetery. In his house among
other items were; human organs in the refrigerator, a lampshade made of a human face, ten female
heads with the tops sawn off, human skin chair covers, nine masks of human skin, bowls made from
human skulls. ( Ed gein, 2011) Among the disorders seen from a psychodynamic point of view I
would include Necrophilia and Sexual Disorders NOS. It is hard to classify these behaviors into
categories and there have probably been additional classification standards considered just

Grandmother Got Run Over The Christmas Tree Analysis
It was weeks before Christmas, when all through the house there was a mess that needed to be upped
and oust.
And what to mine eyes did appear, here and there boxes were everywhere.
So, Dad in his office working and I, Mom in the laundry room laundering, did nothing with those
boxes.
We did stop and stare on our way, to and fro. However, those silly boxes just sat there and mocked us.
Meanwhile, up stairs the windows were bare all but one, which did have a few cling on decorations
hanging there.
Then on the floor for all to see, there were some more decorations of a special kind, they played music
of various kinds.

Santa s hat sat on the rocking chair back, looking quite hardy with its ho, ho, ho and white fur about

Patty Penguin who stood just the left of the chair, had her ear muffs and hat on with her whistle around
her neck and that was that.
Then there was the tree, there it was, right there in the box. It sat there looking lonely like it wanted to
be a big tree with lights and tiny hand made decorations. Maybe an angel or a star on top and to
complete the trimmings the tree s skirt right at the bottom.
Sadly, this year would be without, so there in box, stood the tree and that is where it would be.

hopes, I suppose that Santa would fill them

The Importance Of Food Safety In Human Health
Food safety and nutritional quality play a fundamental role in human health. Food safety and threaten
public health as well as food businesses can be affected by different chemical, biological, and physical
hazards, so ensuring food safety is thus the most critical aspect of a food operation and is the
backbone of consumer trust. Therefore, food should not be regarded as a simple commodity. There are
many technical know how and adequate scientific, technological means, and managerial experience
nowadays to ensure the safety of food products. The key is in their possible application are setting a
safety minded organizational culture, management commitment (ie, the management walking the
talk), a fair and professional management of staff, and management of change in an ever more
complex and develop environment are the biggest challenge of today s food operations.
However, over and above expertise in food safety, the leading and the most fundamental determinant
of food safety is genuine management commitment. To ensure this there a need for the regulatory
authorities to make the top management of food companies accountable for observing their policies
and also to investigate failures up to the level of management.

Essay About Duterte
Radical simply means grasping things at the root Angela Davis (Radical Quotes). Throughout history,
radical change meats two things: a chaotic new era where people suffered, or it meant a prosperous
time for the people. During the Russian Revolution, Vladimir Lenin led an uprising with the people to
form a communist government. This radical change brought forth a demise to the new Russian society
and its people as the new system led them to time of economic depression and poverty. On the other
hand, the American Revolution was a radical uprising that would be the start of the United States of
America. As a result, the U.S. today has created a government that is considered unrivaled in its
efficiency. Rodrigo Duterte, a man known for his unorthodox methods and aggressive nature, is

How Does Colonel Cathcart Use Satire In Catch 22
Power is without a doubt the one thing that divides people from one another. Catch 22 (book) relates
tremendously to the thought of power in the wrong hands. Many characters abuse this to their own self
greed to achieve their own personal goals. Without paying attention to how it could affect the
environment around him or her. The setting of the book takes place near the end of World War II, the
characters in the story are mostly soldiers and officers during that time. High ranking officers are the
big shots giving out orders, while the low ranking officers take and do. Colonel Cathcart is one that
treats power to his own selfish desire, not in any way evil, but for the greater good that he thinks is the
best option. His desire for the greater good of the United States, is to raise the amount of flying
missions to eighty five. Reason being is that he doesn t want anybody to go home and wants a little
joke here and there. However, some characters like Yossarian don t see this as a fit rule to apprehend,

My First Obsession Is Life
I have 10 obsessions in life. I m not sure if they will ever go away. But life would be no fun without
any obsessions.
My first obsession is life. I love life and what you can do with it. I love the way people laugh at a joke
or become afraid when watching a scary movie. It amazes me how children feel most safe in their
parents arms. And how you learn so much from how other people before you had lived their life. I
think this one of my obsessions because life can be taken away in a blink of an eye. You never know
when your time is up. So enjoying every second in my eyes is how you ll have the best life possible.
My second obsession is family. I have always loved how families looked in a magazine or on TV. I
love that parents will do anything to make sure their children are loved and safe. And that families do
things together and love each other no matter what. Parents that play outside with the kids and go to
games and concerts. When a child gets hurt, there is a parent there to pick them up. I think this is one
of my obsessions because my mom had me taken away when I was really young. I don t ever
remember her ever picking me up when I fell down or tucking me in at night and kissing me on the
forehead. For a while it was my grandma who did all this but then she got sick, and I had to live with a
family friend, and this is where I still live now. I have always wanted to know what it felt like to have
a happy family. A family that comes to your games because they

The Effect Of Chemical Reactions On Temperature, Enthalpy,...
Discussion of Goals During this experiment we tested the amount of change in heat given off during
different chemical reactions. We created a calorimeter that we will use to test different reactions to see
how the heat energy was affected. After completing the experiments we were able to tell what
chemicals or metals would change the heat energy for every reaction we tested. Overall, this
experiment showed us what characteristics of chemical reactions affect the change in temperature,
enthalpy, and specific heat. Discussion of Results During the past four weeks we have been working
on identifying heat changes between an assortment of different chemicals and metals. We constructed
two calorimeters out of four Styrofoam cups, tape, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cause of the large gap simply could have been a measuring mistake and or possibly an added
human error. After making our final tweaks to our calorimeters we moved on to experimenting with
the heat changes for several acids and a base mixture continuing from week one. We tested the same
base (Sodium Hydroxide) with three different acids (Acetic Acid, Nitric Acid, and Hydrochloric Acid)
all at one molarity; results are shown in Table 2. After testing our three experiments we discovered a
pattern with our acid and base reactions. Noticing that when we tested a stronger acid with a base the
reaction would give off higher heat energy readings; versus the weak acid we tested. Which proves
that there is a connection between chemical strength and heat energy. Leaving us with the conclusion
that the stronger the chemical used, the greater heat energy released from the reaction that took place.
Moving on with our project into week two we continued to test acids and bases; but, we changed the
acid and base molarity this time as seen in Table 3. The point of this experiment was to see if the acid
and base molarity (that we changed from 1, 3, and to 6 moles) would affect the amount of heat energy
given off. We tested the same Acetic Acid and NaOH. Measuring 50mL of one mole NaOH and
adding 50mL one mole Acetic Acid. We tested each experiment twice to make sure we were accurate
and checked for possible errors made. We did have one

I Have An Assignment For You
I have an assignment for you that will be more challenging than pressing up into handstand or putting
both legs behind your head. In fact, you have to be a real yogi to accept. Are you ready? Here it is: Be
nice all day, from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep. Be kind and generous in
your thoughts, speech actions and feelings. If it sounds easy and you don t believe me, try giving it a
shot before you shrug it off.
Because in between traffic jams, travel delays, dirty dishes, barking dogs, screaming babies, bills to
pay, laundry piles and a thousand other things that line your to do list, it can be easy to get annoyed or
frustrated with the world around you. Take time to reflect on your day so far. If you snapped at anyone
... judged someone harshly (including yourself) ... honked your horn in frustration ... or harbored
negativity of any kind ... then you failed the test already. See? It s not as easy as it seems to be
genuinely nice all day in every way. In fact, it might just be impossible.
After more than fifteen years of a steady Ashtanga Yoga practice, I now measure my success in the
practice of yoga by how long I m able to keep my emotional center spacious enough to be genuinely
kind. Trust me, it s almost easy to get on the mat and bend and twist your body in comparison. And it
is much harder to maintain a kind and generous heart in the face of adversity and stress.
But the real yoga happens off the mat.
The purpose of every yoga pose is really to

American Juvenile Justice System Analysis
The American juvenile justice system is consistently developing to adhere to societal values, just as
any individual or system in our surroundings. It is important to note that there is not one but several
juvenile justice systems within the United States. Each state has its own set of laws governing their
juvenile justice system (National Research Council Institute of Medicine, 2001, p. 155). 1899 was the
beginning of a substantial shift in the rights of juveniles. However, with two opposing views of the
protection of society and the rehabilitation of youth, several states have battled between adopting
policies less stringent on youth and adopting policies like the 1990 s, Get Tough depriving youth of
the protection of the Justice System (University of Pittsburgh, 2009).
Preceding the twentieth century, there was minimal distinction between the rights of an adolescent and
those of an adult. Forming the foundation of the early U.S. Justice system was the common law of
England (Hess, et al., 2012, p.34). Common law failed to recognize a category specifically
representative of juvenile crime. William Blackstone an English jurist, judge and Tory politician

You have to understand the dynamics of the market and also the psychological price trigger points.
Such things can be fairly understood by a price chart. Once you have decided to make the trade then
you can focus on managing the risk. It is important to understand and know the exact amount of risk
to manage it efficiently. It is significant to draw a line as your cut out point if the market trades to that
level. The difference between your cut out point and the time you enter the market is your risk. You
have to accept such risk before you even make the trade and be psychologically prepared for it. If the

and attention deficit hypersensitivity disorder among children and schizophrenia among adolescents.
King et al. identifies exposures to environmental hardships and stressful events as the underlying
factor in the development of PS (274). The aspect has a negative impact on the immune and endocrine
system as well as neurological development (Charil et al. 56). Studies have revealed that PS affects
several aspects of brain development in the fetal stage. It increases rate of cell death and reduces rate
of proliferation in the hypothalamus pituitary axis (Schoenfeld and Gould 15).
The research argues that PS affects the amygdala, a socioemotional control center in the brain that
plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorders. The claim is
backed by several studies. PS plays a major role in abnormal psychological, cognitive, and behavioral
outcomes in both human and animals. Charil

The Importance Of A Hero And Frederick Douglass
Embedded Assessment 1.1 A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes
longer, (Ralph Waldo Emerson). A hero is just like an ordinary person, but they make a choice to
rescue someone, and put their life on the line. For instance, a hero is valiant when they need to be,
sacrifices themself for another, and they don t put another in harm s way.
A heroic person is undaunted by fearsome situations and uses courage when it is needed. When a hero
sees someone in danger, they aren t quite a hero yet. They are just a regular person that springs into
action to save someone. At the Primrose Daycare, a car crashed into a fence, almost running over
some children. A teacher that was nearby tried to shield the kids, [and] she got the brunt of it,
(NBCDFW, Injured in Crash at Frisco Daycare). This woman is a prime example of courage and her
quick actions saved them all. Similarly, Frederick Douglass displayed this amount of courage as well.
Frederick Douglass was a slave that had to be brave and escape himself and others from the wrath of
slavery. This is what the people saved by Douglass think about him, When it is finally ours, this
freedom, this liberty, this beautiful and terrible thing...this man, this Douglass, this former slave, this
Negro beaten to his knees, exiled, visioning a world where not is lonely, none hunted, alien, this man
shall be remembered, (Hayden 81). Frederick had to be strong and stealthy to make the journey to the
North. Both of

The Effects Of Television Violence On Our Society
Our world has a variety of problems today, with violence being at the top of the list, you go anywhere
and that is all you here about. Unfortunately it s in front page headlines of the newspaper and
broadcasted on the news as top stories. Violence is a very big topic, although it is categorized into
many small groups. There is juvenile violence, domestic violence, hate violence, terrorist violence,
and violence displaced through various forms of the media. This research will be on violence in the
media and does it affect our society. How we view television, has changed the world, no doubt in that.
Turn your television set on and pick a channel at random; the odds are that half of the programs you
come across will contain violent material. The statistics are overwhelming as I look on the internet,
read articles, and look at the research. One of the things that most interests me in the violence on
television, is the effects it has on children. Children learn by repetition while watching educational
shows, so is learning violence on television an exception? This research paper is directed to parents,
educational providers, psychologists in research, clinical practice, and individuals with public
advocacy roles and defined by education, age and gender. Both women and men will be a core
audience for this paper, as I have come across the fact that adolescent boys and adult men are more
drawn to violent television then women. It will draw both genders for different

Substance Abuse In Social Work
The continuous development of practice is important in the social work profession. Despite the field
and expertise one is in, they all use theoretical practice and must develop their own. The preferred
theory will mirror the populations served and re occurring crises that arise. At this social work student

implement various interventions. Substances abuse (SA) is defined as any of the ten separate classes
of drugs that are used in excess to activate a reward system in the brain (American Psychological
Association, 2013). People who exhibit an addiction experience a cognitive, behavioral, and/or

2013). In this paper, the previous theoretical frameworks and theories will be demonstrated through
the scenario of John Doe.

Nondiegetic Music Of The Doors In The Scene Waiting In...
Nondiegetic music of the Doors in the scene waiting in Saigon
Sound plays a significant part in all movies and one of the most interesting of all the sound techniques
would be the use of nondiegetic music. In the movie Apocalypse Now, there is a double disc
soundtrack with thirty tracks on it. The one song on there that has the most meaning would The Doors
song The End . This song not only set the mood for the scene waiting in Saigon and the move as a
whole but is also used to foreshadow the death of Coronal Kurtis. Mr. Coppola, the director of the
film, was a genius for picking this song to represent the movie. It not only fits the movie with the
sounds of helicopter but the words alone have significant meaning to the movie. Along ... Show more

This music is used to bring a hallucinatory intensity to the movie. Without the song in the background
all we would see is the destruction that the war had on the jungle. With the music we get more of
feeling of the destruction that it had mentally, not only physically on Willard mind. We get the sense
that Willard knows something that we as viewers don t and is trying to forewarn us that something is
going to end. The first spoken words of the song add the needed intensity to the sequence and the
whole movie. To let the viewers know that something is going to end. Whither it is the end of the war,
or the end of a life.
As we move into the montage sequence of shots, the music words are used to express what we are
seeing on screen. Mr. Coppola uses the rest of the sequence to foreshadow what is going to happen at
the end of the movie. This is the main function of the song in the movie, which is to get the viewers
mind thinking about the end of the movie. It starts out with an overlapping dissolve from the burning
jungle into Willard s burnt wet face. As the dissolve leads to Willard s face we hear the song say, I ll
never look into your eyes...again. This symbolizes death. We get the sense through the music that
someone, either Willard or someone else in the move, is going to die. The music is still playing as we
get a delusional view of what Willard is thinking about. Then we get to another shot where we see a

Analysis Of Happiness In Toni Morrison s Beloved
The daughter you killed has come from the back to seek your love and attention. Now she has left you
for a second time. You feel depressed because you ve never been more happy. This is the situation in
Toni Morrison s Beloved where Paul D tries to comfort Sethe by saying You your best thing, Sethe.
Paul D s statement is true because Sethe doesn t need Beloved to experience happiness, Sethe
possesses strong attributes, and Sethe has a big heart which gives lots of love.
Paul D s statement about Sethe being her own best thing is true because Sethe doesn t need Beloved to
experience happiness. In Sethe s view, Beloved was thought to be the gate open to contentment and
happiness. From the dialogue on pg 7, Sethe smiled. This is the way they were had been demonstrates
that Sethe was feeling positive without the aid of Beloved. Sethe was smiling at Paul D s compliment
about her that reminded her of how the Sweet Home boys would flirt with her. Another example of
how Sethe doesn t need to rely on Beloved for happiness is, Sethe returned the smiles she got. And on
the way home, although leading them now, the shadows of three people still held hands (49). Sethe
was enjoying herself at the carnival and she took the shadows holding hands as a good omen. This
supports that Sethe doesn t need Beloved to be happy because Sethe was having a good time at the
carnival with Paul D and Denver. The event was important because it was the time when Sethe was
most happy in the whole book

The Hockey World Is An Integral Field Of Sports Journalism
The hockey world is, and, remains an integral field of sports journalism. This essay will focus on the
complexity of the National Hockey League, or the NHL, for short, is both a league and a corporate
enterprise. This piece will examine the enduring practice of traditional journalistic representations of
hockey and demonstrate the obstacles many journalists face when writing a comprehensive article.
The task becomes difficult especially when candidates wholly adhere to a type of hockey lingo
rhetoric to circumvent speaking to the underlying issues in the NHL. This paper will express personal
opinions and, correspondingly will explore a few of the social and political controversies. Also, a

Furthermore, I was afforded the opportunity to conduct a formal interview with Coffey, debatably one
the most unique offensive defenseman of all times; in hopes for an informative discussion regarding
NHL s taboos. Coffey unenthusiastically speaks to any of NHL s scandalous moments in the history of
hockey. Aside from personal based questions he remains begrudging of questions, regarding issues of
fairness and pay. For example, he states, That s not for me to say. I got to a hockey player as a fan.
Listen when I go to a hockey game I go to be entertained...I mean I am not a manager. I have my
thoughts, but it s not for this conversation (Coffey, 2017). Hockey is a beautiful game, Coffey says, in
response to the question about the obstacles he faced. He later goes on to say, You learn a lot about
playing the game, and I am not speaking to the technical skill. I am talking about character (Coffey,
2017). This quotation accurately depicts the multiple ways organized sports contribute to the growth
and development of one s character, which I can speak to my experiences playing provincial level
soccer. However, the irony is when a journalist provides a disclaimer of the topics up for debate, and

Social Work And Related Social Justice Issues
I come from a business and women s studies background, so I had very little previous knowledge
about the history of social work and related social justice issues. Reading through the articles
reminded me of how my assumptions and thought processes changed throughout my study in the
women s gender and sexuality program in undergrad. I went into the program not fully understanding
the history of women s rights and feminist theory and my eyes were opened very quickly to the
problems and issues that the field has had to learn to overcome. For example, the women s rights
movement has a history of being exclusive and fighting for particular rights as opposed to the rights of
all women and oppressed groups. The women s rights movement was associated

Star Trek Influence On American Culture
In the 1960 s, it was common for families to spend their evenings around the television. They would
enjoy the broadcast media of the age, while also enjoying each other s company. This ritual became a
cornerstone of American family life. Television featured white families living the American dream;
something every American family aspired towards. Television was a vessel for entertainment, not for
challenging the status quo, but this would soon change for the better. On the evening of September 8,
1966, families with children gathered around their television, unaware that they would be witnessing
an event that would forever change mainstream American media. This event was the airing of Star
Trek. At the time it aired, America was immersed in the Civil Rights Movement. It was almost
impossible to imagine the country becoming a place where everybody, regardless of gender, race,
ethnicity, or beliefs, could be treated with equal respect. Star Trek was a crucial step towards giving
people hope, and allowing them to publicly see for the first time, the possibility of a better future. ...

Their Eyes Were Watching God Research Paper
Research Paper What defines someone s identity? Their Eyes Were Watching God is an example of
finding identity in yourself and through others. Janie is the main character who is learning what it
means to be a black person living in a white society and later where she stands as being a woman
based on her many different marriages. Zora Neale Hurston develops the theme of identity through
Janie as she discovers what it means to be black and her position as a woman. From early childhood
Janie struggles with the role of being black. She has grown up with a mixed heritage and is lost in the
middle of black and white culture. Hongzhi Wu writes that Janie is living between the white and black
world and not being accepted into any (Wu par.8). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Janie s experience through three different marriages shapes her to see how she is viewed as a woman
in her position as a wife. Her first marriage is to Logan Killicks, he believes that women are objects to
men and later threatens her because of her disobedience. Logan shows little emotion to Janie and is
old which contrasts Janie s youthful beauty. Janie leaves Logan and is later attracted to Joe Starks, her
second marriage. Joe Starks is sharp looking, confident, and views himself above others. His
confidence leads him hungry for power and high self esteem for himself. He views Janie as a trophy
wife and more of a physical attraction for others. Janie s two marriages leaves her believing that love
became distorted by masculinist domination (Bealer par.11). Her identity has been shaped and defined
by the two men she called her husband. She has been identified as an object to men rather than a wife.
Janie finally finds her true love, Tea Cake, this marriage is different from her previous marriages.
Janie finds herself as more of an equal to Tea Cake rather than inferior. Tea Cake wants Janie to work
with him instead of for him. Janie and Tea Cake s relationship is that of communication, which she did
not share with Logan or Joe. The very next morning Janie got ready to pick beans along with Tea Cake
Tea is just one example of how their relationship is more equal than her other marriages (Hurston
127). Janie finds love in this marriage and this changes her view of how she used to see her position as
a wife. Her idea of her identity has changed once she found true love with Tea

Known as cuneiform at the time, its origination hailed from a place in southern Mesopotamia called Sumer in 3500 3000 BCE. The process during its invention involved making markings in wet clay with a reed like instrument. The reason for its invention was for the flourishment of commerce. As I turned up the collar on my favorite winter coat this wind is blowing my mind. White privilege is a word greatly used in social rights that advantage individuals to be acknowledged as white in Western countries, afar what is frequently proficient by non white individuals in the same social, political, or economic conditions (Rothenberg, 2016). However, when a certain race color is treated more superior than another race is giving the advantage or benefit to have the opportunity to do anything they want without anyone trying to stop them. According to the authors, what practice(s) create white privilege is viewed in their own unique perspective but, it all fits up under one category of a specific race having the advantage to have their freedom to do what they like. Based on McIntosh view that whites in Western societies adore recompenses that non whites do not practice, as an undistinguishable package of unjustified assets (Rothenberg, 2016). White freedom represents together evident and not as much of evident submissive rewards that white people may possibly not identify they require, which differentiates it from explicit favoritism or preconception. • 8. Summary Of Howard Zinn And The American Pageant Arguably one of the most important parts of US history is the American Revolution. Without the revolution there would be no United States because it never would have broke apart from Britain. Howard Zinn s A People s History of The United States, and David Kennedy s The American Pageant both discuss the American Revolution. When describing the revolution, Zinn chooses to describe the different points of view of the everyday people in the colonies and the people in charge, while Kennedy describes the colonists as all having one perspective. The result is that Zinn paints a more full picture of the events including the first protests, the Boston Massacre, and the Boston Tea Party. The first example of the differences in the descriptions of the colonists points of view between Zinn and Kennedy takes place when they explain the events leading up to the revolution. They both describe the Stamp Act as one of the first sources of unrest in the colonies. When describing the protests against the act, Zinn says, In Boston, the economic grievances of the lowest classes mingled with anger against the British and exploded in mob violence. The leaders of the Independence movement wanted to use that mob energy against England (Zinn, 65). He makes a distinction between the poor and the rich and their attitudes. The poor were angry about economic inequality as well as what England was doing, but the leaders of the revolution, the rich, wanted them to focus their anger on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. A Psychoanalysis of Edward Gein Essay I have chosen to write my Case Study paper on Edward Gein from the Psychodynamic theoretical perspective. I believe that his behavior is a perfect case for the psychodynamic perspective because of the family dynamic in his home. These circumstances led to the actions that would become the inspiration for many books and movie characters because of the oddity and extreme nature of his human interactions. Possibly the first crime that Edward committed was killing his older brother. This has significance on the psychological level because Edward s older brother began to disagree with their mother s world perspective and I believe this was the motivation for this crime. He loved his mother very much possibly to the point of Parent Child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He took the skin of these women s bodies and tanned them making artifacts for around the house and even a suit of their skins that he could wear and pretend that he was a woman. This seems to be an extreme and unique case of a type of Gender Identity Disorder. Because of his secluded lifestyle without a connection to the outside world these behaviors along with others went unnoticed until a woman disappeared from a hardware store where he was witnessed to have been at the same time as the disappearance. When the search lead to his farm not only did the police find that he did murder the victim, but that he had been mutilating scores of corpses. Her body was found hanging by the ankles with her head decapitated from her body. There was also another woman who appeared to be murdered by Gein, and the remains of many other bodies. Edward Gein has reached legendary status because of what he did to the bodies of the women he dug up from the cemetery. In his house among other items were; human organs in the refrigerator, a lampshade made of a human face, ten female heads with the tops sawn off, human skin chair covers, nine masks of human skin, bowls made from human skulls. We did stop and stare on our way, to and fro. However, those silly boxes just sat there and mocked us. Meanwhile, up stairs the windows were bare all but one, which did have a few cling on decorations hanging there. Then on the floor for all to see, there were some more decorations of a special kind, they played music of various kinds. Food safety and threaten public health as well as food businesses can be affected by different chemical, biological, and physical hazards, so ensuring food safety is thus the most critical aspect of a food operation and is the backbone of consumer trust. I love life and what you can do with it. I love the way people laugh at a joke or become afraid when watching a scary movie. It amazes me how children feel most safe in their parents arms. And how you learn so much from how other people before you had lived their life. I think this one of my obsessions because life can be taken away in a blink of an eye. You never know when your time is up. So enjoying every second in my eyes is how you ll have the best life possible. My second obsession is family. I have always loved how families looked in a magazine or on TV. I love that parents will do anything to make sure their children are loved and safe. And that families do things together and love each other no matter what. Parents that play outside with the kids and go to games and concerts. When a child gets hurt, there is a parent there to pick them up. I think this is one of my obsessions because my mom had me taken away when I was really young. I don t ever remember her ever picking me up when I fell down or tucking me in at night and kissing me on the forehead. For a while it was my grandma who did all this but then she got sick, and I had to live with a family friend, and this is where I still live now. We created a calorimeter that we will use to test different reactions to see how the heat energy was affected. After completing the experiments we were able to tell what chemicals or metals would change the heat energy for every reaction we tested. Overall, this experiment showed us what characteristics of chemical reactions affect the change in temperature, enthalpy, and specific heat. Discussion of Results During the past four weeks we have been working on identifying heat changes between an assortment of different chemicals and metals. We constructed two calorimeters out of four Styrofoam cups, tape, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cause of the large gap simply could have been a measuring mistake and or possibly an added human error. After making our final tweaks to our calorimeters we moved on to experimenting with the heat changes for several acids and a base mixture continuing from week one. We tested the same base (Sodium Hydroxide) with three different acids (Acetic Acid, Nitric Acid, and Hydrochloric Acid) all at one molarity; results are shown in Table 2. After testing our three experiments we discovered a pattern with our acid and base reactions. Noticing that when we tested a stronger acid with a base the reaction would give off higher heat energy readings; versus the weak acid we tested. Which proves that there is a connection between chemical strength and heat energy. Leaving us with the conclusion that the stronger the chemical used, the greater heat energy released from the reaction that took place. Moving on with our project into week two we continued to test acids and bases; but, we changed the acid and base molarity this time as seen in Table 3. The point of this experiment was to see if the acid and base molarity (that we changed from 1, 3, and to 6 moles) would affect the amount of heat energy given off. We tested the same Acetic Acid and NaOH. Measuring 50mL of one mole NaOH and adding 50mL one mole Acetic Acid. In fact, you have to be a real yogi to accept. Are you ready? Here it is: Be nice all day, from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep. Be kind and generous in your thoughts, speech actions and feelings. If it sounds easy and you don t believe me, try giving it a shot before you shrug it off. Because in between traffic jams, travel delays, dirty dishes, barking dogs, screaming babies, bills to pay, laundry piles and a thousand other things that line your to do list, it can be easy to get annoyed or frustrated with the world around you. Take time to reflect on your day so far. If you snapped at anyone ... judged someone harshly (including yourself) ... honked your horn in frustration ... or harbored negativity of any kind ... then you failed the test already. See? It s not as easy as it seems to be genuinely nice all day in every way. In fact, it might just be impossible. It is important to note that there is not one but several juvenile justice systems within the United States. Prenatal Stress Alters The Development Of Socioemotional Behavior And Amygdala Neuron Excitability In Rats . 1.0 Background The research is discussing the effects of prenatal stress (PS) on the development of socioemotional symptoms as well as neurodevelopmental disorders. The study arises from existing literatures where a significant relationship has been established between prenatal stress and social deficits such as autism and attention deficit hypersensitivity disorder among children and schizophrenia among adolescents. King et al. identifies exposures to environmental hardships and stressful events as the underlying factor in the development of PS (274). The aspect has a negative impact on the immune and endocrine system as well as neurological development (Charil et al. 56). Studies have revealed that PS affects several aspects of brain development in the fetal stage. It increases rate of cell death and reduces rate of proliferation in the hypothalamus pituitary axis (Schoenfeld and Gould 15). The research argues that PS affects the amygdala, a socioemotional control center in the brain that plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorders. • 23. The Importance Of A Hero And Frederick Douglass Embedded Assessment 1.1 A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes longer, (Ralph Waldo Emerson). A hero is just like an ordinary person, but they make a choice to rescue someone, and put their life on the line. For instance, a hero is valiant when they need to be, sacrifices themself for another, and they don t put another in harm s way. A heroic person is undaunted by fearsome situations and uses courage when it is needed. When a hero sees someone in danger, they aren t quite a hero yet. They are just a regular person that springs into action to save someone. At the Primrose Daycare, a car crashed into a fence, almost running over some children. A teacher that was nearby tried to shield the kids, [and] she got the brunt of it, (NBCDFW, Injured in Crash at Frisco Daycare). This woman is a prime example of courage and her quick actions saved them all. Similarly, Frederick Douglass displayed this amount of courage as well. Frederick Douglass was a slave that had to be brave and escape himself and others from the wrath of slavery. This is what the people saved by Douglass think about him, When it is finally ours, this freedom, this liberty, this beautiful and terrible thing...this man, this Douglass, this former slave, this Negro beaten to his knees, exiled, visioning a world where not is lonely, none hunted, alien, this man shall be remembered, (Hayden 81).
