Essay on Costing Procedure of Flooring Contrator
You can t take it anymore. If you have to look at those scratches in the living room floor, the foot
traffic stains down the hallway, the Kool aid stains under the dining room table, or the chipped tile in
the kitchen one more time, you might go off the edge and wind up in the looney bin. You are tired of
going to a friend s home and secretly envying their perfect looking floors. Gone are the days of
flipping through magazines and drooling over the pictures of nicely decorated rooms with flooring
that looks amazing. So you ask your friend what company did their floor and how much it cost, not to
be nosey, but to get an idea. After perusing the flooring aisle of your local home improvement store
and deciding on the type you want to use, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Labor per square foot is the given rate per square foot of floor area. Initial Preparatory Work involves
all actions required to be completed before the contractor can begin working on the floor. There are
three parts to this section. Initially, all the furniture and fixtures (toilet, sinks not attached to walls)
need to be removed. Depending on the quantity/size of furniture/fixtures that need to be removed,
contractors will typically charge between $15 and $50 per hour. Customers can cut out this cost if they
agree to have the items removed prior to the contractor arriving. However, if it is agreed upon and the
items are not removed, the contractor will usually charge 150% of the normal rate, because this will
add additional time to the job, causing him to possibly run behind schedule for another job, and he
schedules jobs based on time estimates. The next part is the removal and disposal of the existing floor.
The price for this can range from $25 to $75 per hour, based on the type of flooring being removed.
Carpet and vinyl are easy to remove, thus would be on the low end. Tile is more difficult because
mortar is used to install it and all of that has to be broken up and removed. Again, the customer can
save during this phase if they do the removal themselves, with the same penalty if not removed prior
to the contractor arrival. The final part of this phase is repairing the subfloor. Costs for this repair vary
greatly on what needs to be repaired, and are usually

Social Media Communication And The Power Of Online...
In the world of technology communication has become easier than ever. The world has now shrunk
from a vast populated land to a network of communicating individuals living in a global village.
People from all over the globe have come closer together and distances have decreased to the extent
that an individual is merely a click away.
In this ever growing network of people a new theory has emerged, the idea of 6 degrees of separation.
The idea behind this is that between you and any another person in the world is only a chain no longer
than six people. This emphasizes the significance of online communication and the way it has made
the world a whole lot smaller.
This is the power of social media and the developments in online communication. A happening in one
part of the world reaches to the second part in a matter of seconds. Imagine if that news or happening
was about you. The significance of this technology is the ease it provides. Using this tool to your
advantage can give you a large number of benefits.
Social Media Marketing brings global fame to your name.
This is your ticket to international level fame. Your company or your name could be known
throughout the globe with millions of followers and fans. Millions of people can access these sites
where people come to communicate online and express their views. Once you step into the world of
the social media marketing all of these people become your potential prospects. Your services are
merely a single search away.

Roman Medicine Vs Modern Medicine
Roman medicine can be viewed as primitive according to today s standards, however physicians
during this time did contribute to the field. Rome also had similar issues that occurs in modern day
society, such as physicians conjuring up magical remedies in profiteering scams. Back then one could
purchase a cure for digestive problems that consisted of grounded up horse heals, whereas today
people in society will purchase natural brain boosters with the intention of ascending to geniuses
through a magic pill. This essay will compare and contrast the issues with medical access, the moral
code, and pain management for surgery between Roman and modern medicine. The first comparison
is who was able to access medical physicians. Doctors would migrate

What Are The Similarities Between Debs And Schenck
The critics of World War I, specifically Eugene V. Debs and Charles Schenck, were American. An
American is a person of United States citizenship who upholds the values, ideas, and traditions upon
which America was founded. Debs and Schenck believed that those who went to war were anti
Americans. They themselves must be Americans if they oppose anti Americans. The Schenck
Pamphlet states, war is an insult to every good and wholesome American tradition. He is up front on
his belief in American tradition. He is arguing that those who encourage war are anti American.
Eugene V. Debs sarcastically states in his speech, These... tyrants, red handed robbers and murders,
[say they re] the patriots. Eugene opposes those who support World War I, his belief making them anti
American. If one opposes those who are against an entity for the reason that they are against the entity,
must believe in the entity themselves to care about the opposers. ... Show more content on

Mona Lisa Rhymes
I am going to do another song analysis, but this time for two completely different song. Today s songs
are The ballad of Mona Lisa and Vegas Lights by Panic! at the Disco. The ballad of Mona Lisa is off
of the Vice Virtues album. Vegas Lights is a little weird at first, but once you listen to it once you can t
get the words out Panic at the Disco is quirky and interesting band that always has a twist to their
songs, and both of these songs follows suit. The Ballad of Mona Lisa begins with the ominous and
kind of creepy playing of piano. Then the lyrics begin and it s kind of confusing, but then you are like
yeah that s actually cool. Once you actually listen to the words though it takes a darker turn. Whoever
this woman is apparently has some drinking problems and has some sins she might have paid for. The
lead singer, Brendon Urie, eloquently puts it like She paints her fingers with a close precision He
starts to notice empty bottles of gin And takes a moment to assess the sins she s paid for . This is less
of a poetic song, but more of a story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

famous painting the Mona Lisa by the great Leonardo da Vinci. This song also mentions Mona Lisa, I
d pay to see you frown . I think that this Mona Lisa , the main character of this story, is a master at
concealing her emotions, she is probably struggling with some awful decisions she has made in the
past and the present. This Song is about the struggle a person who has made awful decisions and has

Rejection And Desolation In Frankenstein
When it comes to the aspect of human nature, it can be concluded that as creatures of action, often
propelled by personal emotion, it is without a doubt that human beings have continued to shift away
from society s initial and original values, which in turn, results in society s formation of a biased
judgment as they are keeping away from what they consider to different or dissimilar. Over the course
of the past decades, it has become increasingly unchallenging for human beings to stray from
traditional beliefs. Furthermore, it has become apparent that humans have been very easily motivated
by and are often fueled by selfish desires. As human beings continue to be blinded by their overriding
emotions and allow themselves to be greatly affected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the course of the novels, it is revealed the ways in which dangerous tendencies can lead to
rejection and ultimately to physical and mental defeat. Put bluntly, these works illustrates the ways in
which rejection and desolation affects a certain character and the epiphany that ultimately comes to
light due to the tragic consequences they face. In Heart of Darkness, Kurtz highly dangerous instincts
ultimately causes him to be more susceptible to isolation, and consequently dies, possibly as his
punishment, with his final memorable words, The horror! The horror! (164). This phrase is significant
as it is almost a sense of realization, as Kurtz, the ultimately symbol of European colonialism,
recognizes the horror in his tendencies and the ways in which he has been blind to the ways in which
it has psychologically isolated him from the people in his life and more importantly, from humanity.
Furthermore, the nightmarish outcomes of rejection are completely depicted by the influence on
Frankenstein. Frankenstein, from the minute he is faced with the manifestation of his work, flees,
claiming that he felt mingled with the horror and the bitterness of disappointment (50). This illustrates
the ways in which he initially becomes destroyed psychologically, living in fear and seeking
vengeance, and then ultimately physically by his own creation. This event is highly significant in
terms of the consequences of rejection and the ways in which natural impulsivities can lead to down
fall, in that based on the superficial details, Frankenstein had abandoned his creation and lived in
anger and depression. And through this, it is clear to readers that he truly embodies monstrosity. Due
to his instinctive actions, he comes face to face with rejection that he had

The Toronto Maple Leafs And The Nhl
May 13, 2013 A day that will go down in history as one of the most devastating days for fans of the
Toronto Maple Leafs. After an 113 day lockout at the beginning of the season, the Leafs made the
playoffs for the first time in 9 years. They were playing the Boston Bruins in the first round and made
it all the way to game 7. Leafs fans around the world were glued to their TV s as they watched their
team build a seemingly impenetrable 4 1 lead with 15 minutes to go in the third period, all they had to
do was hang on to it... The Bruins added a second goal with 9:18 remaining, and then the unthinkable
happened. In the span of thirty one seconds, Boston netted their third and fourth of the game to tie
things up with only seconds remaining, sending the game to overtime. There s nothing more exciting
and nerve wracking than Game Seven overtime, but unfortunately for the Toronto Maple Leafs, their
dreams of winning the cup were once again extinguished. They added another year since the last time
they won the coveted Stanley Cup: 46 years and counting (now up to 48 years in 2016) the longest
drought without a Cup for any NHL team in history. Yet even with such a long drought without a cup,
Maple Leaf fans remain some of the most loyal and dedicated in all of professional sports. The team
also brings in some of the highest revenues in all of the NHL. How can a losing team be one of the

The Black Crook, By Charles M. Barras
In the late 1860s, as post Civil War business boomed, there was a sharp increase in the number of
working and middle class people in New York, and the wealthier people desired entertainment.
Theaters became more popular, and Niblo s Garden, which had formerly hosted opera, began to offer
light comedy. The Black Crook was at first simply a melodrama by Charles M. Barras that retold the
Faust story and borrowed liberally from other plays with similar plots and themes. William Wheatley,
who was the manager of Niblo s was concerned that the play would fail. The script was poorly written
and the acting was not much better. Then something oddly magical happened. There was a theatre fire
at the Academy of Music in New York. A French ballet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Black Crook took advantage of all of these changes.
Charles M. Barras, a gentleman remarkably well known in theater circles was born in 1826 and in
1860 married Miss Sallie St. Clair, a popular danseuse and soubrette. In 1861 Mr. Barras was the
manager of Pike s Opera house, Cincinnati. Here he first attracted attention as an actor by an
admirable and original personation of Hypochondriac. In 1866, Mr. Barras s name was brought before
the American public in an extraordinary manner by the production of The Black Crook at Niblo s
Garden, of which drama he was the author. As a literary production, the Black Crook was beneath
criticism, but it ran for 465 consecutive nights and enabled its author to realize a fortune of $250,000.
This latter was accomplished by holding the copyright throughout the country, and claiming a
handsome royalty for each performance. Mr. Barras s other literary efforts have obtained for him no
reputation. As an actor, he is remembered from only one character and as an author by one production,
which, however, slight in its merits, stands immeasurably superior to any of the spectacular plays,
which have succeeded it.
The play The Black Crook tells the story of evil, wealthy Count Wolfenstein seeks to marry the lovely
village girl, Amina. With some help from Amina s scheming foster mother Barbara, the Count
arranges for Amina s fiancé, Rodolphe, an

Role Of Stephen King s Stories
The Role of Stephen King s Stories in Modern American Literature Stephen King is one of the most
prolific writers of this century. He has written a number of short stories and novels many of which
have been turned into movies. One of the reasons that King s works are popular with readers is due to
the fact that his stories give the reader something outside of the formulaic formula that many books
are inclined to follow or endings that are predictable and derivative. King also made his foray into
horror in the 1970 s when the genre was kind of lackluster. King offered the reader something
different in that he did not shy away from the gore, gratuitous violence or cheap shocks. One of the
reasons that King s works have so much power when it comes to the imagination is because he
himself is a horror aficionado, who writes according to his worldview. Readers can also see the
influence that Classic literature has had on the works of King. Just as the works of the Ancient Greeks
and later Shakespeare focused on certain themes, such as man versus nature, good versus evil or love
versus hate, so do the works of King. However, in his works King tends to twist the traditional plot of
Shakespeare and the Classic by having his characters go from hero to villain or showing the loss of
man s honor or humanity in the wake of horror. One of the things seen often times in his writing is the
alienation of both the individual and of society. Publication of Mile 81 Mile 81 was

The Space Shuttle Disaster And 12
The first space shuttle, Enterprise, launched in 1977. NASA couldn t have been more proud of their
accomplishments and looked forward to the years to come with many new ideas, experiments to try
and space to explore. While this might have been the case for a few years following, NASA couldn t
have predicted what was to happen on the mornings of January 28, 1986 and February 1, 2003... or
could they? Disaster struck for both the Challenger and the Columbus space shuttles. Even though
both scenarios were different, they were one in the same when it came to the reasoning behind why it
happened. The ideas of cultural change, ethics of organization and decision making were all to blame.
Introduction It has been 29 years since the Challenger space shuttle disaster and 12 years since the
Columbia space shuttle disintegrated during reentry. With proper precautions and improvements to
both shuttles, these incidents could have been avoided.
Summary
The Challenger exploded on its tenth flight during mission STS 51L, killing all seven crew members.
The explosion occurred 73 seconds after the shuttle took liftoff, and the reason behind the explosion
were the faulty O rings. There were predictions that if the O rings were to malfunction due to the cold
temperatures, the rockets could explode before the shuttle took off from the Launchpad (Miller 79).
There had been speculation that the O rings could fail, but those opinions were quickly pushed aside

Many companies produced PCBs in the 1930 s and 1940 s and because the chemical does not
decompose, PCBs are still present in soil and rivers, subsequently ending up in fish and other wildlife.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), PCBs build up in the environment, and
larger concentrations are found higher in the food chain. Eating contaminated fish is the most likely
way for PCBs to get into the human body. In 1997, the EPA banned the production of PCB s and they
were classified as a probable human carcinogen.
DREDGING
Dredging is the removal of soil or material from the bottom of a river, lake or ocean harbor. (Encarta

dredging, and environmental dredging. Navigation and construction dredging are used to remove
sediment that has accumulated to a level where the water depth is insufficient to support safe
navigation (Huskie 2). Navigation dredging tends to use large open clamshell dredges. Environmental
dredging utilizes hydraulic dredges that act as a vacuum to remove contaminated sediments such as
PCBs, ( Environmental Clearwater.org). A representation of these dredges is on the following page

Alternative Medicine vs. Conventional Medicine Essay

Alternative Medicine vs. Conventional Medicine
July 25, 2010
Introduction
It is important to understand the cause of the current crisis on the matter, factors that lead to diseases
and good health, in addition to the steps that need to be taken by an individual so as to maintain good
health.
Traditional medicine, also known as conventional medicine, relies on scientific principles,
contemporary technologies as well as scientifically proved methodologies for purposes of preventing,

These therapies have proved to be of much benefit in supporting the normal healing course of the
body. Even though there are many modern alternative remedies, with different beliefs, all of them
operate under some common principles. One of these principles is that the body has the capacity to
heal naturally and maintain stability (Paquette, 2000). The other one is that adverse health conditions
can occur as a result of factors emanating from mind, emotions and the body. Alternative medicine,
according to Goldberg, Trivieri and Anderson, (2002), focuses on determining the chief cause of a
particular condition, and dealing with the whole person rather that concentrating on symptoms. If a
person pays close attention to his/her health he/she can contribute to his/her wellbeing. Alternative
medicine holds firmly to the principle that one treatment cannot be used for all people even though
they may be suffering from the same condition. Each and every person as per alternative medicine has
distinct bodily, mind and spiritual make up (Goldberg, Trivieri and Anderson, 2002).

Descriptive Essay On Fear
An unpleasant emotion or feeling caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely
to cause pain, or a threat : Fear. Fear is a strong word, it can mean a variety of things and lead to a
variety of things depending on who you are. My fear caused me to shake and tremble as if the world
was coming to an end. It makes me feel safe around no one. I look back on my life and ask myself,
was it all worth it for this? It makes me shrink and fall the size of of a humming bird. My stomach

about this new recent fear I had because I knew that if I did I they would for sure make fun of me. So I
tried to play it off and act like I was a little excited. After explaining the details of the trip to me and

Database Comparison of Sql Server 2000, Access, Mysql,...
Introduction
This paper will compare and contrast five different database management systems on six criteria. The
database management systems (DBMS) that will be discussed are SQL Server 2000, Access, MySQL,
DB2, and Oracle. The criteria that will be compared are the systems functionality, the requirements
that must be met to run the DBMS, the expansion capabilities – if it is able to expand to handle more
data over time, the types of companies that typically use each one, the normal usage of the DBMS,
and the costs associated with implementing the DBMS.
System functionality

workstation based, and designed to be easy to use, even for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Typically, an Access application will be a single user installation on a workstation. All of the other
DBMS are suited to handle multi user concurrency and offer a lot of features around transaction
processing and record locking to prevent issues from arising. These databases can be found in
client/server applications, as well as applications that utilize internet or intranet pages as a front end.
Cost The cost for the different DBMS varies widely (in fact, from nothing, to millions of dollars). A
standalone version of Access (without an upgrade), costs about $339. It is also included with the
Office XP Professional and Developer Editions. MySQL is free – if the application you are
developing is open source. If the application is proprietary, then the cost will be $495 per database
server, with no cost for client access licenses. The more database servers that are purchased, the lower
the cost per server is, down to $175 per server if 250 or more are purchased. Now it gets a bit more
complicated. DB2 Enterprise, in a server with a single processor, will cost $25,000. At the high end, it
will cost $800,000 for a 32 processor version. If the company wants OLAP and Data Mining, those are
additional, with prices up to $2,016,000 for a 32 processor implementation. SQL Server is a bit more
reasonable – and OLAP and Data Mining are included in the

The Main Forces That Transitioned Europe Toward Modernity
Ngo
Humanities 4314
Midterm: October 12, 2014
Isser Woloch suggests that the key forces that transitioned Europe toward modernity are associated
with four different developments which coincided with and reinforced each other in final decades of
the eighteenth century: (1) rising population; (2) increased agricultural productivity; (3) a vast increase
in commerce, particularly in the exploitation of their colonies by Britain and France; and (4) the
expansion of textile manufacturing and the beginnings of its structural transformation in England
(113).
Population Growth
Prior to the Europe s sustained growth, Europe struggled as far as keeping growth steady flowing;
with that being said, as growth of population would reach its exponential, the population would
shortly reach a downfall. The result of contagious diseases, crop failure, and the aftermath of war such
as the Thirty Years War had altogether been the cause of a depopulated community.
The fluctuation of population may be seen when one looks at the sixteenth century and the
seventeenth century; for example, sixteenth century Europe had a rise in population while seventeenth
century Europe suffered a significant decline in numbers for population. Europe s population suffered
a downfall when the prices of grain and flour had risen following the law of supply and demand;
facing the wraths of high prices and short supply, people would soon become undernourished and
starving, possibly trying to fend off hunger by

Essay about The Things they Carried Symbolism
The Things They Carried: Essay Prompt Two Tim O Brien writes about both the physical objects they
carry as well as their emotional burdens. The objects that these soldiers carry serve as a symbolism for
what they are carrying in their hearts and minds. The soldiers carry items varying from pantyhose,
medicine, tanning oil, and pictures. Jimmy Cross is an inexperienced sophomore in college, he signs
up for the Reserve Officers Training Camp because his friends are doing the course. Jimmy Cross

This can be true for a lot of fictional stories, while writing this type of literature an author must have
previous background information or experiences to create a story. Tim O Brien wrote a compelling
novel that kept you in awe about whether or not the story could be a true experience or if it s just a
crazy story he devised.
O Brien casts doubt on the veracity of the story to let you experience what the war felt like for him.
When him and his fellow soldiers would sit around the campfire telling stories some where obviously
made up for entertainment while others actually were authentic. This is how you have to view the
book as like you are there with the troops listening to these war stories and deciding for yourself
whether or not you believe them. The underlying theme isn t really the vietnam war in itself, its the act
of storytelling.
One example of when the author causes us to be unsure of the truth is when he talks about the
vietnamese man he killed. Then we find out that it wasn t O Briens fault from Kiowa to leave us in an
even more confused state. He wrote this because he wanted to describe to us that even if he didn t kill
the man, it felt like he was responsible, because in a way he felt like the mysterious man was him.
This particular event increases our understanding of the story because this is what it felt like to be in
the war. You would blame yourself for the death of a fellow soldier or imagine your own self dead.

Melanoma Research Paper
Melanoma
Melanoma is a very serious type of skin cancer and can be extremely dangerous if it s not taken care
of properly. Melanoma usually develops in the melanocyte cells when the skin has been exposed to
ultraviolet radiation from tanning beds or from being outside in the direct sunlight for too long or over
a long period of time. When unrepaired skin DNA becomes too damaged, it can trigger a mutation in
the cells which leads to the skin cells to rapidly multiply, turning into the cancerous growths. In some
cases, melanoma can form in the eyes, nose, mouth, genitals and, in rare situations, form in the
intestines (Mayo Clinic).

Skin cells normally push the new healthy cells toward the top to replace the old cells that need to be
replaced but, in some cases, when the cell DNA is too damaged then the new skin cells start to grow
rapidly which turn into cancerous growths. Doctors believe that the main lead cause of melanoma is
too much exposure to UV rays that comes mostly from sunlight and tanning beds (Cancer Research

linked to exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays... Having blistering sunburns during early childhood can
increase the chances of getting melanoma, along with getting sunburns and excessive exposure later in

that have more sunlight like Florida, Arizona and California have a higher chance of getting skin
cancer. Lighter skinned people who live in the colder northern states can also get skin cancer and

In this experiment, Eisenberger, Master, Inagaki, Taylor, Shirinyan, Lieberman, and Naliboff further
research the hypothesis that attachment figures may act as safety signal to an individual during a

The Oppression Of Women In To The Odyssey And To The...
We see gender roles described in The Odyssey and To The Lighthouse that seem to share some similar
ideas; however, the women in To The Lighthouse are more opressed than the women of The Odyssey.
First, women in the Odyssey are typically submissive to men in house duties and marriage matters,
like Telemachus telling his mother to get back to her loom in Book 1 and him deciding who his
mother will marry in Book 2. Also, women are seen only by their identity of who their father or
husband is, like the ghosts of women who approach Odysseus at the gates of the Underworld in Book
11.
With To The Lighthouse, we see Charles Tansley constantly downs women, like a representation of
the oppression in the 1920s, saying women s silliness made being civilized

A smaller airline is simple and can easily adapt to change. Smaller airlines field similar aircraft for
interchangeability of maintenance workers and crew, they can quickly upgrade aircraft and they can
easily adjust management, directly address minor issues and quickly respond to changes in the market
place. While at a larger airline, bureaucracy slows these efforts, lengthily logistical and environmental
issues prolong the change process, what takes months for small airlines to adopt may take years for a
large airline. In my time in the military I learnt a school of thought called the tenants of guerrilla
warfare, I find it very similar to this circumstance (if they re big and you re small, then you re mobile
and they re slow, you re hidden and they re exposed etc etc). The threat of growing too large is a
known issue that airlines like Southwest avoid by utilizing careful growth in their business plan.
This new growth presents American Airlines to a new pool of customers, the untapped international
community that has little knowledge of American Airlines and with the recent disasters of Air Asia
and Malaysian Airlines the safety record of American is an advertising point that any flyer will greet
with open arms. A complex marketing mix must be researched before entering a foreign market to
ensure conditions like lifestyles, consumer behavior and political/legal environments can grant

Analysis Of Gaius Suetonius TranquitusDe Vita Caesartus

The Twelve Caesars which essentially changed the way in which history was written. For many, they
believe that Suetonius De Vita Caesarum established a new framework, an original genre of historical

This review will look in particular at the aspects of Suetonius style of writing seen in the first chapter,
which focuses on Julius Caesar, and also how specific writing techniques used by Suetonius inspired

understand the beginning of imperial Rome and in its entirety this book becomes an in depth source

Effects Of Oral On Athletic Performance And Health
The Effect of Oral ATP Supplements on Athletic Performance and Health
Abstract
During the past 20 years, the nutritional supplement creatine monohydrate has continuously gained
popularity and recognition as a successful nutritional strategy to gain muscle mass and strength.
Countless studies have been conducted to observe the effects of creatine supplementation on physical
performance of individuals, along with its effect on the health of the tested individuals. These studies
have found that creatine supplementation does indeed have a beneficial effect on physical
performance by increasing strength and muscle mass, while not providing any serious health concerns
to those who consume it.
Literature Review
Over the past 20 years, the nutritional supplement creatine monohydrate has been gaining immense
popularity, with documented sales from $50 million in 1996 (Bamberger, 1998) to over $400 million
during 2001 (Metzl et al., 2001). Creatine supplementation first started to gain popularity after
Olympic athletes from the Barcelona Olympic Games believed that their performance had benefited
from taking creatine supplements (Anderson, 1993). Since then, creatine has become one of the most
widely utilized nutritional supplements worldwide (Williams et al., 1999). A reason for this may be
that creatine is not banned by the National Collegiate Athlete Association (NCAA) or the International
Olympic Committee. However, NCAA coaches are not allowed to provide creatine for their

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder And The Syrian Civil War
When photographs were published of Aylan Kurdi, a three year old Syrian refugee who drowned with
his mother and older brother off the coast of Turkey, much of the world caught a first time glimpse
into the Syrian refugee crisis, a vast humanitarian emergency and byproduct of the Syrian Civil War
that continues to this day. A year later, video emerged of Omran Daqneesh, a five year old boy shown
sitting in the back of an ambulance, covered in dust and seemingly in shock, blood caked to the side of
his face. These photos alone illustrate the deep social need for humanitarian assistance to Syria s
almost five million refugees. With the civil war now in its sixth year, almost 14 million people need
assistance within Syria, while 6.6 million people are internally displaced with nowhere to call home
(Migration Policy Centre, 2016). Internally displaced persons are often left with no choice but to flee
their battered country. Forced migration often leads to sickness, family disruption, shattered self
esteem, and mental health problems including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) (Hassan,
Ventevogel, Jefee Bahloul, Barkil Oteo, Kirmayer, 2016). Unfortunately, this is just a short list of

Traditional Teaching And Traditional Learning Approach In...
In a flipped learning approach, lecture and homework are switched. Students watch lectures at home
prior to class and class time is spent expanding on content through collaborative learning and content
exercises. This model moves the learning environment from teacher centered to student centered,
allowing students to become responsible for their learning environment. The teacher takes a step back
and has the students take over the reins in the classroom. Instead of showing the students what to do,
the teacher would guide and mentor them in order for them to be able to draw their own conclusions
and produce their own outcomes.
For a flipped learning approach to work, everyone must be on board. There are several benefits to
flipped learning versus the traditional teaching model. A traditional classroom is teacher centered,
doesn t foster deep learning and is filled with passive learners. A flipped classroom, is learner
centered, promotes deeper learning and filled with active learners.
Not all flipped classrooms are the same. There are different types of models that support specific
classroom and student needs. In a standard flipped classroom, students are assigned video lectures to
watch at home, along with readings. During class, they practice what they learned via individual or
group activities. A discussion oriented flipped classroom has a similar set up, except that class time is
spent on discussion and deeper exploration of the topic. Finally, in an in flipped

In 1835, French historian, Alexis de Tocqueville wrote that, There are at the present time two great
nations in the world [...] I allude to the Russians and the Americans [...] Their starting point is
different, and their courses are not the same; yet each of them seems marked out by the will of Heaven
to sway the destines of half the globe. Tocqueville s insightful view was proven in the aftermath of the
Second World War with the emergence of a bipolar international system where the American and
Soviets sought geopolitical, ideological and economic hegemony.
The Cold War encompassed a lengthy period of the world history spanning from 1945, after the end of
the Second World War to 1991 with the collapse of the Soviet Union. However, the relations between
the Soviet Union and the United States had always been lukewarm at best as distinct differences in the
political systems of the two countries often hindered them from reaching a mutual understanding that
led to shift between cautious cooperation to bitter superpower rivalry over the years. The fluctuate
relations between the two power eventually reached its peak with a hostile rivalry that lasted for
almost half of a century. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

What Are The Positive And Negative Effects Of Mosquito
According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control, every year more than 1.5 million people around the
globe lose their lives due to mosquito borne diseases (2012). A mosquito is an insect which lives
around the world, especially in tropical and subtropical countries. The mosquito has both positive and
negative effects. As part of positive effects, larvae of mosquitoes are food for fish and dragonflies, and
when mosquitoes consume nectar, they help the flowers to pollinate. On the other hand, mosquitoes
make people annoyed and cause many diseases. World Health Organization (2016) explains that the
mosquito is the greatest menace which causes many diseases and they are responsible for more than
million deaths and cases every year. There are many diseases that caused by mosquitoes, but the
diseases are commonly found and get people s attention because they have many negative effects on
people such as malaria, dengue fever, and Zika virus disease. A disease that kills a child patient every
two minutes and gets patient to infect again is malaria. As World Health Organization explains,

A Poetical Analysis of Queen¡¯S Bohemian Rhapsody
A Poetical Analysis of Queen¡¯s Bohemian Rhapsody
This paper looks at Queen¡¯s Bohemian Rhapsody from a poetic perspective. Bohemian Rhapsody
was written in 1975 by the British rock band Queen, whose lead singer Freddie Mercury died in 1991
from AIDS. The song is one of the world¡¯s most popular all time songs. It is an epic work that
belongs to the musical genre ¡®Rock Opera¡¯. The song is part of the band¡¯s Night at the Opera
album that was released in 1975. This period is the so called ¡®Golden Era¡¯ for Queen in which they
came to be known as amongst the best in the music business.
There are a number of possible themes to Bohemian Rhapsody. It could be about the singer¡¯s
religion. Freddie Mercury¡¯s religion was ¡®Zoroastrianism¡¯. ... Show more content on

anyone can see till the end shows an almost textbook example of this. Note the difference between
ritardando and rubato. The latter is a whole branch of musicology and studies the way a performer
should increase or decrease the tempo in certain moments from a musical work. For instance, Chopin
s pieces usually require such approach although he never put down in writing where he wanted to
hurry up and where he wanted to slow down. That s why rubato is one of the most sophisticated
techniques in music and demands a quite considerable musical sense and talent.
In ¡°Bohemian Rhapsody¡± certain chord progressions are used frequently. The heavy and looped use
of such chord progressions often results in a very predictable song. For certain listeners this is good,
and it even helps them to memorize the piece. For many others, though, the clich¨¦ based songs get
boring very quickly, especially if the melody is also predictable. Queen use a very limited and tasteful
use of clich¨¦s, a very nice example of this is Bohemian Rhapsody and the clich¨¦s in the verses.
The tone and mood of Bohemian Rhapsody varies throughout the song. It begins with a slow and
pitiful chorus that only murmuringly hints of the possible explosion later. Mercury¡¯s first verse
gradually builds ¨C it is interesting to note the emphasis he gives to the word ¡°Mama¡± not only in
this verse but also throughout the song. Despite the addition of various

The Book Of Romans By Paul
Introduction The book of Romans was written by Paul to present a basic system of salvation to a
church that had not receive the teaching of an apostle before. In this book, the basis of a biblical
worldview can be illustrated by Paul when it comes to explaining the natural world, our human
identity, human relationships, and culture. The Natural World With regards to the natural world,
Romans 1:20 clearly states that For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and
sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities his eternal power and
divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God (NLT). The world was made perfect from
God s hands and science taken the credit away from Him and given it to Evolution other erroneous
ideas. It goes on to say they wouldn t worship him as God or even give him thanks. They thought of
foolish ideas of what God was like and eventually became lost. Instead of worshipping God, they
worshiped idols and God abandoned them to do whatever their hearts wished (Romans 1:21 24).
People in this world are no different from those in Paul s days. The idols people worship today range
from people, statues, wealth, material things, etc. It may not look like they bow down to those things
but that s all their minds are set on. Verses 25 32 is a perfect example of how people live; a perfect
example of how we are not to live. Human Identity Romans 3:10 18 says, No one is righteous not

Software Applications And Hardware Systems
Businesses can avoid costs of purchasing and installing software applications and hardware systems.
In other words, cloud computing turns fixed costs into variable costs. Business operations are more
flexible due to the use of cloud computing. Companies can save funds that were used previously to
outsource teams to maintain routine information technology operations, data storage and backup. Now
companies can focus on core operations and hire more workers in the fields of design and
development. Google Docs is an example of cloud computing allowing several users to work together
on a single document in real time. Virtualization has reduced the overall equipment footprint of a
company s data center. This means, fewer servers, less networking equipment, hence less physical
space needed. Virtualization creates a virtual version of an operating system. Virtualizing servers
reduces physical hardware further reducing generation heat in the data center hence solving many
issues. Many businesses have considered IT s intensive enterprise and installed latest technologies to
meet today s and future customer requirements. Intel Virtualization Technology is the biggest
advancement of enterprise information technology. Intel closely works with other softwares like
VMware, XENSource, Parallels, tenAsys, VirtualIron, RedHat, Novell and other VMM developers
(Burger, 2012). With the arrival of virtualization, it is not uncommon to accomplish 10:1 virtual to
physical machine consolidation. The

Synopsis Of A Poem Rhyme
Hye Jung Yang
Dr. Solomon
ENGL 2530 C
April 2, 2015
History of Rhyme These days, many songs repeat the same sounds again and again. Also, singers and
songwriters say it is really important to create songs that are catchy and that everyone can sing along
to easily. Most songs that are popular worldwide are easy to remember because they constantly repeat
the same sounds. The repeating sound is referred to as rhyme , and according to Cambridge dictionary
it means two or more words with the same final sound, or the use of such words, especially at the end
of lines in a poem or song. The Billboard charts show weekly population of songs or albums in the
United States. If a song were placed in high rank on this chart, it would mean the song is popular in
world not only in the United States but worldwide. After learning this, I checked some of the song
lyrics that had high ranks, and I noticed the songs have a lot of rhymes. Moreover, Songs are not the
only type of media that uses words that rhyme. As Paul Muldoon said fifty percent of television ads
use rhymes. The rhyme is around us at all times. People just do not realize because rhyme comes
naturally to everyone. I actually thought the word Rhyme scheme was created in the twenty first
century. However, I realized that is not true after I learned about the sonnet in class. Usually, sonnets
use rhymes a lot. There are two major rhyme schemes on sonnet: Petrarchan (or Italian) sonnet and
Shakespearean (or English) Sonnet. Both

  • 2. Essay on Costing Procedure of Flooring Contrator You can t take it anymore. If you have to look at those scratches in the living room floor, the foot traffic stains down the hallway, the Kool aid stains under the dining room table, or the chipped tile in the kitchen one more time, you might go off the edge and wind up in the looney bin. You are tired of going to a friend s home and secretly envying their perfect looking floors. Gone are the days of flipping through magazines and drooling over the pictures of nicely decorated rooms with flooring that looks amazing. Labor per square foot is the given rate per square foot of floor area. Initial Preparatory Work involves all actions required to be completed before the contractor can begin working on the floor. There are three parts to this section. Initially, all the furniture and fixtures (toilet, sinks not attached to walls) need to be removed. Depending on the quantity/size of furniture/fixtures that need to be removed, contractors will typically charge between $15 and $50 per hour. Customers can cut out this cost if they agree to have the items removed prior to the contractor arriving. However, if it is agreed upon and the items are not removed, the contractor will usually charge 150% of the normal rate, because this will add additional time to the job, causing him to possibly run behind schedule for another job, and he schedules jobs based on time estimates. The next part is the removal and disposal of the existing floor. The price for this can range from $25 to $75 per hour, based on the type of flooring being removed. Carpet and vinyl are easy to remove, thus would be on the low end. Tile is more difficult because mortar is used to install it and all of that has to be broken up and removed. Again, the customer can save during this phase if they do the removal themselves, with the same penalty if not removed prior to the contractor arrival. The final part of this phase is repairing the subfloor. Costs for this repair vary greatly on what needs to be repaired, and are usually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The world has now shrunk from a vast populated land to a network of communicating individuals living in a global village. People from all over the globe have come closer together and distances have decreased to the extent that an individual is merely a click away. In this ever growing network of people a new theory has emerged, the idea of 6 degrees of separation. The idea behind this is that between you and any another person in the world is only a chain no longer than six people. This emphasizes the significance of online communication and the way it has made the world a whole lot smaller. This is the power of social media and the developments in online communication. The ballad of Mona Lisa is off of the Vice Virtues album. Vegas Lights is a little weird at first, but once you listen to it once you can t get the words out Panic at the Disco is quirky and interesting band that always has a twist to their songs, and both of these songs follows suit. The Ballad of Mona Lisa begins with the ominous and kind of creepy playing of piano. Then the lyrics begin and it s kind of confusing, but then you are like yeah that s actually cool. Once you actually listen to the words though it takes a darker turn. Whoever this woman is apparently has some drinking problems and has some sins she might have paid for. Rejection And Desolation In Frankenstein When it comes to the aspect of human nature, it can be concluded that as creatures of action, often propelled by personal emotion, it is without a doubt that human beings have continued to shift away from society s initial and original values, which in turn, results in society s formation of a biased judgment as they are keeping away from what they consider to different or dissimilar. Over the course of the past decades, it has become increasingly unchallenging for human beings to stray from traditional beliefs. Over the course of the novels, it is revealed the ways in which dangerous tendencies can lead to rejection and ultimately to physical and mental defeat. Put bluntly, these works illustrates the ways in which rejection and desolation affects a certain character and the epiphany that ultimately comes to light due to the tragic consequences they face. In Heart of Darkness, Kurtz highly dangerous instincts ultimately causes him to be more susceptible to isolation, and consequently dies, possibly as his punishment, with his final memorable words, The horror! The horror! (164). This phrase is significant as it is almost a sense of realization, as Kurtz, the ultimately symbol of European colonialism, recognizes the horror in his tendencies and the ways in which he has been blind to the ways in which it has psychologically isolated him from the people in his life and more importantly, from humanity. Furthermore, the nightmarish outcomes of rejection are completely depicted by the influence on Frankenstein. Frankenstein, from the minute he is faced with the manifestation of his work, flees, claiming that he felt mingled with the horror and the bitterness of disappointment (50). This illustrates the ways in which he initially becomes destroyed psychologically, living in fear and seeking vengeance, and then ultimately physically by his own creation. This event is highly significant in terms of the consequences of rejection and the ways in which natural impulsivities can lead to down fall, in that based on the superficial details, Frankenstein had abandoned his creation and lived in anger and depression. After an 113 day lockout at the beginning of the season, the Leafs made the playoffs for the first time in 9 years. They were playing the Boston Bruins in the first round and made it all the way to game 7. Leafs fans around the world were glued to their TV s as they watched their team build a seemingly impenetrable 4 1 lead with 15 minutes to go in the third period, all they had to do was hang on to it... The Bruins added a second goal with 9:18 remaining, and then the unthinkable happened. In the span of thirty one seconds, Boston netted their third and fourth of the game to tie things up with only seconds remaining, sending the game to overtime. There s nothing more exciting and nerve wracking than Game Seven overtime, but unfortunately for the Toronto Maple Leafs, their dreams of winning the cup were once again extinguished. They added another year since the last time they won the coveted Stanley Cup: 46 years and counting (now up to 48 years in 2016) the longest drought without a Cup for any NHL team in history. Yet even with such a long drought without a cup, Maple Leaf fans remain some of the most loyal and dedicated in all of professional sports. The team also brings in some of the highest revenues in all of the NHL. How can a losing team be one of the most profitable? This paper will examine the case of the Toronto Maple Leafs from a number of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Barras In the late 1860s, as post Civil War business boomed, there was a sharp increase in the number of working and middle class people in New York, and the wealthier people desired entertainment. Theaters became more popular, and Niblo s Garden, which had formerly hosted opera, began to offer light comedy. The Black Crook was at first simply a melodrama by Charles M. Barras that retold the Faust story and borrowed liberally from other plays with similar plots and themes. William Wheatley, who was the manager of Niblo s was concerned that the play would fail. The script was poorly written and the acting was not much better. Then something oddly magical happened. There was a theatre fire at the Academy of Music in New York. A French ballet ... In 1861 Mr. Barras was the manager of Pike s Opera house, Cincinnati. Here he first attracted attention as an actor by an admirable and original personation of Hypochondriac. In 1866, Mr. Barras s name was brought before the American public in an extraordinary manner by the production of The Black Crook at Niblo s Garden, of which drama he was the author. As a literary production, the Black Crook was beneath criticism, but it ran for 465 consecutive nights and enabled its author to realize a fortune of $250,000. This latter was accomplished by holding the copyright throughout the country, and claiming a handsome royalty for each performance. Mr. Barras s other literary efforts have obtained for him no reputation. As an actor, he is remembered from only one character and as an author by one production, which, however, slight in its merits, stands immeasurably superior to any of the spectacular plays, which have succeeded it. • 12. Role Of Stephen King s Stories The Role of Stephen King s Stories in Modern American Literature Stephen King is one of the most prolific writers of this century. He has written a number of short stories and novels many of which have been turned into movies. One of the reasons that King s works are popular with readers is due to the fact that his stories give the reader something outside of the formulaic formula that many books are inclined to follow or endings that are predictable and derivative. King also made his foray into horror in the 1970 s when the genre was kind of lackluster. King offered the reader something different in that he did not shy away from the gore, gratuitous violence or cheap shocks. One of the reasons that King s works have so much power when it comes to the imagination is because he himself is a horror aficionado, who writes according to his worldview. Readers can also see the influence that Classic literature has had on the works of King. Just as the works of the Ancient Greeks and later Shakespeare focused on certain themes, such as man versus nature, good versus evil or love versus hate, so do the works of King. However, in his works King tends to twist the traditional plot of Shakespeare and the Classic by having his characters go from hero to villain or showing the loss of man s honor or humanity in the wake of horror. One of the things seen often times in his writing is the alienation of both the individual and of society. Publication of Mile 81 Mile 81 was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With proper precautions and improvements to both shuttles, these incidents could have been avoided. Summary The Challenger exploded on its tenth flight during mission STS 51L, killing all seven crew members. The explosion occurred 73 seconds after the shuttle took liftoff, and the reason behind the explosion were the faulty O rings. The other one is that adverse health conditions can occur as a result of factors emanating from mind, emotions and the body. Alternative medicine, according to Goldberg, Trivieri and Anderson, (2002), focuses on determining the chief cause of a particular condition, and dealing with the whole person rather that concentrating on symptoms. The Main Forces That Transitioned Europe Toward Modernity Ngo Humanities 4314 Midterm: October 12, 2014 Isser Woloch suggests that the key forces that transitioned Europe toward modernity are associated with four different developments which coincided with and reinforced each other in final decades of the eighteenth century: (1) rising population; (2) increased agricultural productivity; (3) a vast increase in commerce, particularly in the exploitation of their colonies by Britain and France; and (4) the expansion of textile manufacturing and the beginnings of its structural transformation in England (113). Population Growth Prior to the Europe s sustained growth, Europe struggled as far as keeping growth steady flowing; with that being said, as growth of population would reach its exponential, the population would shortly reach a downfall. The result of contagious diseases, crop failure, and the aftermath of war such as the Thirty Years War had altogether been the cause of a depopulated community. The fluctuation of population may be seen when one looks at the sixteenth century and the seventeenth century; for example, sixteenth century Europe had a rise in population while seventeenth century Europe suffered a significant decline in numbers for population. Article Summary Observation In this experiment, Eisenberger, Master, Inagaki, Taylor, Shirinyan, Lieberman, and Naliboff further research the hypothesis that attachment figures may act as safety signal to an individual during a threatening experience observing changes in neural mechanism to support this theory, specifically the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, the neural region involved in signalling safety and reducing stress and threat. The researchers inflicted painful stimuli upon female participants who were involved in a long term romantic relationships and observed activity in the participants respective ventromedial prefrontal cortex as the participants were shown control images and images of their loved ones. The results to this experiment were that the participants themselves reported less pain while viewing partner pictures, reduction in pain related neural activity and increased activity in the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, the VMPFC Activation is associated with reduced pain ratings and reduced pain related neural activity. We see gender roles described in The Odyssey and To The Lighthouse that seem to share some similar ideas; however, the women in To The Lighthouse are more opressed than the women of The Odyssey. First, women in the Odyssey are typically submissive to men in house duties and marriage matters, like Telemachus telling his mother to get back to her loom in Book 1 and him deciding who his mother will marry in Book 2. Also, women are seen only by their identity of who their father or husband is, like the ghosts of women who approach Odysseus at the gates of the Underworld in Book 11. A year later, video emerged of Omran Daqneesh, a five year old boy shown sitting in the back of an ambulance, covered in dust and seemingly in shock, blood caked to the side of his face. The teacher takes a step back and has the students take over the reins in the classroom. Instead of showing the students what to do, the teacher would guide and mentor them in order for them to be able to draw their own conclusions and produce their own outcomes. In this book, the basis of a biblical worldview can be illustrated by Paul when it comes to explaining the natural world, our human identity, human relationships, and culture. The Natural World With regards to the natural world, Romans 1:20 clearly states that For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God (NLT). Most songs that are popular worldwide are easy to remember because they constantly repeat the same sounds. The repeating sound is referred to as rhyme , and according to Cambridge dictionary it means two or more words with the same final sound, or the use of such words, especially at the end of lines in a poem or song.
