What Is The Destructive Symbolic Elements In The Open Boat
In The Open Boat, Stephen Crane demonstrates nature as a destructive symbolic element that
describes an objective correlative aspect. There are specific events and characteristics which expresses
emotions in the form of artistic revelation. For example, the mysterious experiences of nature as a
character creates a persuasive impression. Stephen Crane illustrates descriptive phenomena as an
exceptional delicacy: The manner of her scramble over these walls of water is a mystic thing, and
moreover, at the top of them were ordinarily these problems in white water, the foam racing down
from the summit of each wave, requiring a new leap, and a leap from the air (585). The beauty of
nature compares a personality with a belief of faith in the human

Financial Risk Of For College Aid From The Department Of...
Student loans are unique. This same analysis would not apply to, say, home loans. With houses,
private lenders play a critical role in determining who is a credit worthy borrower, and what the
appropriate loan amount is for the asset that is being purchased with the loan proceeds. The financial
risk of being wrong causes lenders to take seriously the job of allocating loan capital efficiently. But in
the federal student loan program, there is a single process for determining eligibility for college aid
from the Department of Education and other federal agencies. When private lenders are involved in
the student loan program, they get paid but add no economic value to the process beyond the provision
of capital a role the federal government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every loan program now has an estimated
subsidy cost put simply, the amount of money that needs to be set aside when the loan is made in order
to cover the loan s costs to the government over the life of the loan. The
GAO explains that the old approach distorted costs and did not recognize the economic reality of the
transactions, while the new approach provides transparency regarding the government s total
estimated subsidy costs rather than recognizing these costs sporadically on a cash basis over several
years as payments are made and receipts are collected. This more rational approach changed the nature
of policy discussions on
Capitol Hill. Student loans were among the first programs to be affected.
Federal student loans had originally been direct loans, following a recommendation of the economist
Milton Friedman in the 1950s. But when Congress in 1965 wanted to expand on that start, the
irrational budget rules of the time got in the way: A guaranteed loan appeared to cost nothing, and a
direct loan showed up in the budget as a total loss in the year it was made, even though most of it
would be paid back with interest. But now, after the 1990 budget reforms, the equation changed.
Congress, prompted by a memo leaked from the Bush administration that indicated direct loans would
be less costly and

Donating Human Tissue
Have you ever witnessed someone steal something from a store or eat in a restaurant and leave before
they pay? Although this is a different concept, it is oddly similar to the argument of paying people for
donating their tissue. Doctors are making millions of dollars off cures for diseases and vaccines. All
the while, breaking many patient privacy laws to do so. We would not have many of the medical
breakthroughs we have today if people did not donate their body tissue. Therefore, we owe credit to
those who have given tissue to help with modern medical advances. The legal requirements for
donating human tissue differ from case to case. Consent must always be given in order to obtain
human tissue. The rules of consent vary between children and adults. If adults are alive, then it is
absolutely mandatory to have verbal consent. Adults that have ... Show more content on

Should these patients be compensated? The answer should always be yes to this question.According to
Robert D. Truog, Aaron S. Kesselheim, and Steven Joffe, authors of Paying Patients for their Tissue:
The Legacy of Henrietta Lacks, If patients own their tissues, even after removal of the tissue from
their bodies, then it follows that they have the right to demand payment when a profitable discovery
derives from their tissue. If doctors continue to shrug the issue off their shoulder, soon enough there
will no longer be any patients willing to donate their human body tissue.. Since the 1950 s, people
have heard of the wrong that doctors, scientists, and medical researchers did to the family of Henrietta
Lacks.. They deserved monetary compensation in some form, but in return they received nothing. This
could heavily influence new patient s decisions to donate their tissue. Patients will feel as if they are
the reason doctors and medical researchers are making millions of dollars off their tissue, while they

Genetic Algorithms And Its Applications Of Cyber Security
Genetic Algorithms and its Applications to Cyber Security Paper By Sameera Chalamalasetty
Guided By Dr. Mario A Garcia
Abstract:
Genetic algorithms (GAs) were initially proposed by John Holland, whose thoughts were connected
and developed by Goldberg. GAs are a heuristic pursuit procedure in view of the standards of the
Darwinian thought of survival of the fittest and characteristic genetics. Holland s work was basically
an endeavor to numerically comprehend the versatile procedures of nature, however the general
accentuation of GA examination from that point forward has been in discovering applications,
numerous in the field of combinatorial enhancement. Genetic algorithms have been utilized as a part
of science and engineering as versatile algorithms for tackling functional issues and as computational
models of common developmental frameworks. In the latest couple of decades, this procedure with
advancement of cutting edge development has accomplished something new.
Introduction:
Li [3] describes genetic algorithm as a family of computational models based on evolution and natural
selection. Bobor [4] has defined a genetic algorithm as a programming technique, which mimics
biological evolution as a problem solving approach.

Play, By Marc Leblanc
When describing the characteristics of play, Huizinga (1995) pointed out that engaging in the activity
of play is not essential, yet engaging in the act of play is a voluntary activity. It is an activity that can
start and stop at any time and often carried out during leisure time. He also mentioned that play only
gets urgent when the enjoyment of play becomes a need. Thus, playing is enjoyable.
Games are compelling because it provides players several uses such as allowing players to pass time,
to procrastinate, to cheer oneself up or to play just for enjoyment (Phillips et al. 1995). As an
entertainment source, games allow people to enter a world of fantasy and escape the boredom of
reality (Sherry 2004).
Games are compelling because it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is goals which bestow these interactions its purpose (Costikyan 2002). Goals are a
stimulus in games which motivates players to interact with the game system further and furthermore.
These goals could be an explicit win state, a set of victory conditions or smaller goals that adds up to
the bigger objective in the game. Goals could be in numerical form such as getting the highest score or
in status form such as the development of a city. On the other hand, there are games that have no
explicit winning conditions. These are usually sand box games like Grand Theft Auto V or simulation
games like The Sims series, whereby players have a wide variety of goals to choose from or a wide
variety of possibilities to play with. Therefore, games are goal directed interactions that involves
decision making (Costikyan 2002), that are up to the player s discretion and the system of the game.
Games are compelling this way because each gameplay of the same game will be dfferent....
To make achieving goals in games a little more challenging for the players, games have the element of
struggle to make things interesting. Games would have a form of conflict, competition, challenge,
oppositions or even puzzles to make players to struggle interactively towards a goal (Costikyan 2002)

Crying of The Soul
How hard a thing is life to the lowly, and get how human and real! W.E.B. Du Bois. Ghana Calls is a
Poem written by William Edward Burghardt Du Bois. He is also formally known as W.E.B. Du Bois.
He has been referred to as the father of the civil rights movement and as a historian, a sociologist, a
scholar, a teacher, a novelist, and a journalist (Hufford D 1997). This poem was dedicated to Kwame
Nkrumah. Kwame Nkrumah was the Ghanaian leader who declared Ghana independence from Great
Britain (UK). Many of W.E.B. Du Bois literary work was devoted to issues associated with the people
of African descent from America and Africa as well. In the poem Mr W.E.B. Du Bois wrote on how it
felt growing up in Ghana Africa through the eyes of a child having a dream. The depiction of the
dream gave details of the soul of one Ghanaian and the issues of the place they call home. W.E.B. Du
Bois used imagery, personification and other literary devices in Ghana Calls to engage the reader on
what he is trying to convey in his writing.
W.E.B Du Bois used imagery in the poem. Imagery adds intensity to convey the portrait that the
reader wants to paint in the poem. To add a visual picture of the land in the boy s dream Du Bois

What Are The Objectives Of Netflix
Netflix is on demand DVD rental as well as internet streaming provider working in different countries
such as United Kingdom, USA, Latin America, and Ireland. Some of the corporate objectives of the
company are as follows: To develop further favourable relationships with production studios in order
to expand their video library To make Netflix available on all the internet accessible devices To
generate more than $1 billion revenue in coming years The Netflix expects 10% of all the US
households to become the member of Netflix by 2016 (Dransfield, 2001) External Analysis It is

The resources that are significant for Netflix are divided into two categories that are tangible and
intangible. The tangible resources of the company include financial assistance, organisational and
physical requirements. Financial assistance is considered as the basic resource because all the
operations and functions of the business are dependent on this resource. For instance, the focus of the
company is that revenue keeps on growing, however, in order to achieve this target, investment is
needed which can be fulfilled by financial resource. Another division of tangible resource is
organisation in which the company need organisational resource for conducting their functions. It is
noticed that Netflix hired about 7 chief managers in order to ensure that business keeps on running
smoothly. Moreover, they also hired 75 employees in their Beverly Hills. These are the organisation
resource, which are also required for performing the basic activities of the business. In terms of
physical resource, the company needs number of DVDs to provide service. It is also one of the
important resources for Netflix because their function takes place on this particular resource. While on
the other hand, intangible resources include human resource in which the company focused on hiring
competent and skilled employees (Rothaermel, 2012; Teece,

Company Ethics and Moral
Companies today have been aware that it is very important for them to enforce ethics and morality in
their actions and ideas. They know they will be profoundly analyzed and rejected by the public if these
enforcements are not their number one to facilitate wellness in society. This way of rational thought
pertains to the pharmaceutical industry. The pharmaceutical industry can regulate the health of many
lives all over the world. It becomes essential that they follow the ethical and moral route for the good
of society and to enable wellness. Pharmaceutical companies have been as easy target of many critics
over the years. There is a perception that these companies are strictly out for profit and that they will

Without several of these drugs that are provided by these companies, many people would not live
healthier longer lives. Malaria, a mosquito borne parasitic disease, kills hundreds of thousands of
people a year, mainly babies in the poorest parts of sub Saharan Africa, and scientists say an effective
vaccine is key to attempts to eradicate it (Moorthy, 2013). GlaxoSmithKline, a British drug maker has
created the worlds finest malaria vaccine that after trial data shows the shot significantly reduced the
disease by 46% to 27% (Moorthy, 2013). Vaccines that are produced by pharmaceutical companies
like GSK play a very important role in society today. These vaccines stimulate and enrich the
competence of the human immune system and help prevent infectious diseases as malaria. These
preventative measures are a definite advantage to many populations, especially in third world
countries. These vaccines can be carried and transported from one place to another with ease. With
having these pharmaceutical companies, it is permitted African children to have productive, healthier
lives and most of all have a longer chance at living. GSK has made it evitable that their best interest is
for the patients of these epidemic diseases. The Bill Melinda Gates foundation is paired with GSK as
well as other pharmaceuticals to put all the investments in vaccines and immunizations to contribute to
the goals of working together to certify that these life saving vaccines are introduced into

5 Basic Features Of Garage Door Springs

Springs
Alternative Title: The 5 Basic Features of Garage Door Springs That make all the Difference!
Garage door springs are undoubtedly the most crucial components in the mechanism of the door. They
are also the most dangerous since they bear the weight of the assembly, holding the door in place
when it s opened d closed. Unfortunately, like most mechanical systems, a garage door spring is prone
to wear and failure. However, before you consider a replacement, here are the 5 basic features of
garage door springs that you absolutely need to know about.
The all important question Do you need a new garage door spring?
A professional inspection is highly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The type: Garage door springs are available in two types, torsion and extension. Most older doors
have extension springs while newer models use torsion springs. Apart from the varying mechanism,
the placement of these springs also differs. Torsion springs are placed above the door while extension
springs are attached on the sides of the upper tracks.
As their name suggests, extension springs actually get stretched when the door is lowered and contract
when the door is raised. In contrast, torsion springs are tightly wound and they unwind when the door
is opened and the cable is wound back around the drum when the door is closed. An extension system
can be converted to a torsion spring system, but as you may have guessed, this does call for
professional intervention.
2. The dimensions: The weight that a garage door spring can handle will depend on its dimensions.
When it comes to torsion springs, the length, the wire size, the inside diameter of the drum and the
number of turns are crucial considerations. Accuracy is extremely important when measuring these
dimensions. If in any doubt, it would be best to err on the side of caution and go for springs that can
handle more weight than the existing components of the

Essay On The Future Of The Energy Industry
What is the future of the energy industry in Canada? A big uncertainty that arises for the energy
industry in Canada surrounds the new U.S. administration. According to National Resources Canada,
Canada currently exports 99% of its oil and gas to the U.S. (2017a). If Trump were to revise the
current NAFTA agreement, and impose a tax on imports to the U.S. from Canada, it could result in
Canada losing a major partner, and cause the economy to take a hit. As mentioned, President Trump is
in support of the Keystone XL pipeline, however, that then also comes under scrutiny for how much of
the profit would Trump expect. As of November 2017, the Keystone XL pipeline is approved, but on
an alternative route, and it still faces challenges. If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, emissions per barrel of oil produced in the oil sands have fallen over 35% since 1990,
(Government of Canada, 2017a). It is good that Canada is taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint,
but the future of Canada as a member of the Paris Agreement is uncertain if Canada does not take
more tangible steps to reduce the production and emission of greenhouse gases. What is Suncor s
Future? Based on the challenges identified, and the way that Suncor approaches these challenges, the
future looks bright for Suncor. As the case study points out, water use is an environmental issue that
requires careful management (Vietor, 2016, p.7). The major oil producing companies were taking
measures to reduce the amount of fresh water they were withdrawing from the Athabasca River, and
the Canadian government had restricted withdrawals to 5.2% of the river s median flow (Vietor, 2016,
p.7). In 2015, Suncor more than exceeded their goal of reducing their water usage. The government
regulated that they could use 59.8 million cubic meters annually, however, their 2014 usage was only
18.65 million cubic meters, (Vietor, 2016 p.12). This demonstrates that Suncor is on track to meet
national demands and constraints placed on the energy industry. As they are ahead of the game in this
regard, they set precedence for other oil and gas companies in the industry, and this action encourages
them to reduce their own water consumption in the future. As Suncor has already achieved

Of Pride And Arrogance In Nino Ricci s Lives Of The Saints
The Effects Of Pride and Arrogance The inability to take responsibility for immoral actions causes
destruction. Nino Ricci s Lives of the Saints tells the story of a young boy whose life drastically
changes due to his mother s infidelity. Throughout the novel, Cristina s attitude toward her sin
becomes a prevalent matter as it starts to damage aspects of her and her family s life. Cristina s
excessive pride and arrogance lead to her choice to stay silent and proud, which results in its
destructive nature. The hubristic mindset Cristina harbours, damages her personal relationships.
Throughout the novel, Cristina chooses to remain prideful and silent and ignores the consequences of
her infidelity. In one particular scene, Cristina, Vittorio and his grandfather sit together at the dinner
table, but no one says a word: When he did come, he remained walled up in his stony silence, his head
bowed over his plate, while my mother sat turned away from him crosswise, her legs never under the
table, as if she expected at any moment to have to rise up suddenly on some errand, (Ricci 133).
Vittorio s grandfather stops eating dinner with Vittorio and Cristina. Vittorio notices the irrefutable
tension and the change in the atmosphere. However, Cristina is unregretful of her sin that results in the
damage of not only hers, but the people around her lifes as well. Vittorio s grandfather continuously
directs his anger on Cristina, who does not apologize for her actions, thus breaking

ICAP Class Reflection
For my ICAP unit I wrote my lessons on living and nonliving things and how they adapt to their
environment. My teacher assigned this topic to me. I am glad my teacher assigned me a science topic.
This school focuses a lot on math and language arts so science gets left out a lot so I am glad I could
teach a fun lesson in the classroom. My unit fits in with what they were learning during language arts.
There would be times my lesson ended up being a preview of what they would learn or would be a
review. It worked out well to have them read or hear about different animals and environments then
later do an activity. It helped them learn the facts in many different ways. Something else I had to
consider while writing lessons are what they already learned. Living and nonliving things are
something that is covered in every grade. I had to make sure I was building on what they already
knew. I didn t want to make my lessons something they already knew, but I didn t want to make it so
hard they didn t understand.
My class is very diverse when it comes to the students learning levels. I have some students that have
a really hard time focusing and needs lots of reminders to stay on topic. Because of this, I decided to
make a lot of my lessons group lessons. I would sterically plan my pairs or groups that if there where
students that had a hard time focusing, they would be paired with students that can keep them on track
as well as be kind to them. I know sometimes students that

The Development of Rockets
1.3 Developing of rockets.
Russian scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was one of the very first people who put forward the idea of
using rockets for space missions, he was also the first person to design a rocket for interplanetary
exploration and he accomplished this in 1903. German scientist Hermann Oberth continued to outline
the principles of interplanetary flight in 1920, soon followed by an American scientist Robert Goddard
who began to develop a liquid rocket engine in 1923 and by 1925 had created a working prototype. He
set up the first liquid rocket, using gasoline and liquid oxygen as fuel in March of 1926. The works of
Tsiolkovsky, Oberth and Goddard were then continued by rocketry enthusiast groups in the United
States, the Soviet Union and Germany (Aerospace, 1994)
In Germany, similar works were led by German Interplanetary Society (VFR), as part of the group,
Johannes Winkler implemented Europe s first successful liquid rocket launch in March of 1931 and
Wernher von Braun who began the development of rocket engines for the German army artillery range
in Kummersdorf in the winter of 1932. After the Nazis came to power in Germany they allocated
some funding for the development of missiles, and in the spring of 1936 the construction rocket centre
has been approved at Peenemunde, with von Braun appointed as technical director. He developed the

there are many similarities and differences throughout the film and the Novel. Both the author and

Elie Wiesel it takes place right after a pogrom. They perform a play putting god on trial and accused
him of staying in silence while they faced evil. God on Trial directed by Andy de Emmony is about a

In the movie, God on Trial there was a rabbi named Akiba, performed by Antony Sher with the other
men in the concentration camp. Rabbis are Jewish religious leaders that are always looked at for
guidance. In the movie the rabbi was said to be one of the thirty six rabbis. The character Idek states,
He is the rabbi of Zamkevitz. Melamed and is a healer... They say that he is one of the thirty six... the
lamed vovnik. The secret saints who are carrying us on their shoulders. They have set their souls on
God, and for their sake He does not destroy us. (God on Trial, Dir. Andy de Emmony. Per. Blake
Ritson.) In other words, Melamed is a term in biblical times denoted a religious leader or teacher. In
Jewish terms the thirty six means life. This brought some hope and light to some of the men in the
bunker. Right before the judges were going to give the verdict, the rabbi gave a speech. He
complicates the matter further when he says, When David defeated the Moabites, what did he do? He
made them lie on the ground in lines, and he chose one to live and two to die. We are become the
Moabites. We are learning how it was for the Amalekites. They faced extinction at the hands of
Adonai. They died for his purpose. They fell as we were falling. They were afraid as we were afraid.
And what did they learn? They learned... that Adonai, the Lord our God... is not good. He is not good.

How Technology Has Improved With Better Mobility And More...
As the technology developed and matured, hand held devices have been significantly improved with
better mobility and more functions: when I was young, my father used to have a mobile cell phone
which was very heavy its weight was over 1 lb., which was at least three times heavier than the newest
iPhone. Also, besides the basic phone calling function, many new communication applications text
messaging, social networks including Facebook and Instagram, and online video chat tools like Skype
are integrated with the mobile devices. From using a simple handy phone to a well functioned smart
phone, my communication style had also changed a lot. The first hand held mobile device for
communication is a personal handy phone which is named Xiao Ling Tong in China. I received that in
2008 when I was in middle school. The device itself looks like a mini mobile phone, but its functions
were limited to phone calling, text messaging and some simple games. Also, it did not have an
individual phone number it was connected with the fixed line telephone and they share the same
phone number. At that time, the way I was using my handy phone was to contact my parents through
phone calling when I went out. I did not use that to communicate with my friends or classmates
frequently as most of them did not own mobile devices. However, it was not as convenient as a true
smart phone: it did not have roaming service, which meant that it could only be used locally. In 2010,

There was discrimination between African Americans and Whites before the Civil War. At that time,

system and keeping yourself fresh during summer. It is a safe sport that can be done even by people
with an advanced age.

Recreation centers, neighborhoods, and many other places have swimming pools. In fact, lots of
colleges and high schools have teams intended for swimming competitions. It is also one of the most
popular sports in the Olympics.
The Equipment
Similar to other sports, swimming while you are naked is not the best option. There are some things
that you need to have if you want to feel safe and convenient while doing this activity.
1. Swimsuit Unless you want other people to see your naked body, you need to wear a swimsuit. Just
like other sports equipment, swimsuits have benefited from the modern technology. Certain fabrics are
manufactured to create minimal resistance while the individual is swimming. In addition, modern
swimsuits can last for a long period of time and resist fading even when regularly used in chlorine
treated swimming pools.
Obviously, not every swimmer would be at ease wearing the revealing swimsuits worn by Olympians.
But you don t have to worry. You can easily buy more modest swimsuits at department stores, sporting
goods, and online merchant sites (e.g. Amazon, eBay,

Discuss how class conflict is represented in A Streetcar...
Class conflict is represented throughout the play, A Streetcar Named Desire in various ways through
characters, symbols, ideas and language. Characters such as Blanche, Stella, Mitch and Stanley are
used throughout the text to represent the upper and lower classes, as well as the conflict between the
two classes. Symbols, ideas and language help to define the different classes as well as helping to
represent the conflict between classes. The language (dialogue) of the characters, symbolic use of
names, animal imagery and colour (clothes) and the ideas of cultural capital help to define what the
lower and upper classes are.
A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams was written in 1947. The story takes place in New
Orleans, and can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast the name Stanley offers no specific meaning in relation to meaning in the play. Secondly
the name Dubois sounds aristocratic, with a possible proud heritage, whereas the name Kowalski
sounds more modern. A Dubois speaks softly and flittingly, as the name is pronounced, whereas a
Kowalski speaks loudly and brutally as the name is said. Kowalski s enjoy loud, rowdy poker parties,
whilst Dubois s wince and prefer teas, cocktail parties and luncheons. The names of these two
characters help in constructing the conflict between the two classes. The dialogue of Blanche and
Stanley and the symbolic use of names help to construct class conflict in the play, A Streetcar Named
Desire.
Stella represents the old south being converted by the new south. Blanche fights for Stella to come
back and be part of the old south again, accusing Stella of being blinded by desire for Stanley ( What
you are talking about is brutal desire just Desire! Scene Four, Blanche). Elysian fields is described as
having an atmosphere of decay. This scenery is contrasted to the image of white pillars at Belle Reve.
This contrast is to highlight the difference in the world Stella has chosen (lower class lifestyle), and
the world she was brought up in (upper class lifestyle). Colour is used by Stanley to keep Stella part of
the new south. ( ...You showed me the snapshot of the place with the columns. I pulled you down of

Commentary On The Play The Bachelor
The Bachelor season 20 episode three took the show to extreme heights. The first one on one went to
Lauren B, who we have not seen a lot of thus far. Where do you go with a woman who is in the sky
everyday? On The Bachelor Lauren got to go in a small plane, ride over The Bachelor mansion,
hangout in a hot tub in the middle of nowhere, have a serious talk with Ben and get a private concert.
This date showed the depth of their relationship and that Ben feels comfortable enough to talk about
personal information, while also having a fun time.
Caila has already had the first date breakdown where she feels stronger than everyone and has to

Overall, the connection was strong, which made up for the awkwardness and offering up the date to
another woman.
In three episodes we have seen a lot of intensity of this season, from difficult pasts to loved ones
dying. The most tone deaf moment that happened was when Olivia talked about her cankles. I hope
this was not as awkward in person for the sake of Ben s well being. Luckily, Amanda saved Ben by
having a normal conversation.
Other than Olivia, Jubilee was involved in the drama. Jubilee stole Ben for alone time and to give him
a massage, even though she already had a rose. While he appreciated this, the women did not and
Amber will feel the effects of this long term. As Jubilee sat by Ben crying Amber kept pushing her
about the things happening in the house. Typically people argue with other contestants when the lead
is not around. As a result Ben, felt closer to Jubilee and felt bad for her.
To conclude the night, Lace left before the rose ceremony and Olivia was left for last. I was sad to see
Lace leave, but that type of self awareness was reassuring on this

Building the economic case for the preservation of open space: An analysis of the limitations and
advantages to utilizing the Benefit Transfer Method toward natural capital and ecosystem valuation.
AUDIENCE
My primary audience includes local, regional and state urban planners and policy makers who are
considering Benefit Transfer Methodology (BTM) as a tool to preserve open space and ecosystem
services through policymaking and/or political influence. Additionally, environmental organizations
and land stewards in California could find value in the conclusions of this report as they deliberate
which planning resources to use toward progressing their respective agendas.
Notably, the findings drawn from this report are not exclusive to California and can be helpful to
different areas around the United States as they approach land use decisions unique to their
jurisdiction. Finally, independent groups who may find this research useful include the
environmentally conscious subset of California s population and certain businesses concerned with the
consumption and sustainability of California s natural resources and the tools available to meet this
issue.

Figurative Language And Imagery InJuggler, By Richard Wilbur
The poem Juggler describes how the tricks the juggler acts out for the crowd amaze and intrigue them.
In the poem Juggler by Richard Wilbur, the author uses imagery, figurative language and tone to
describe the juggler as someone who brings happiness and fun to others.
The use of imagery, figurative language, and tone are used to describe the juggler and reveal the
speaker s own views about the world.
Throughout the poem the author uses imagery to describe the juggler s appearance and the tricks he is
accomplishing in his show. For example, Wilbur states, it takes a sky blue juggler with five red
balls...to shake our gravity up. (lines 6 7). The author s description of the juggler as someone who can
shake our gravity up (line 7) shows that the juggler is someone who has a tremendous impact on the
audience and the speaker. This is true since the crowd is full of serious people and the juggler evokes
happiness and astonishment from the audience. Moreover, by saying this the audience is able to get an
insight into the life of the speaker; we are able to see that not a lot of things happen in the speaker s
life that cause or bring up excitement and happiness. Additionally, Wilbur shows the reader how the
juggler is performing, the author says, Oh, on his toe the table is turning, the broom s Balancing up on
his nose, and the plate whirls. On the tip of the broom! (lines 9 21). We can see that as the juggler is
performing his great trick the crowd is excited and amazed at what he is accomplishing through his
performance when the author says, Damn, what a show, we cry... (line 21). Having the crowd cheer at
the juggler as he completes his trick of the balancing act showed that the juggler was able to bring
happiness and amazement with the many tricks he was able to perform for the crowd.
As the poem progresses, we can see how the juggler manipulates the five red balls he is using to move
around his body. In the poem, Wilbur uses figurative language like personification to show how the
balls move by the tricks the juggler does. For example, Wilbur says, The balls roll around, wheel on
his wheeling hand, learning the ways of lightness, alter to spheres, grazing his finger ends, cling to
their course

Plastic And Ocean Pollution
Plastic and plastic based products have turned the American society into a single use, throw away
lifestyle (Eriksen, 154). Due to the introduction of plastic to everyday life, it has become a main
source of pollution and liter to the Earth. Whether it is on the side of the road, being collected in large
masses such as in landfills, or located in the depths of our oceans, plastic has integrated itself into our
environment as well as our society. However, no one environment sees the most impact from plastic
pollution than our waterways and oceans. Plastic waste can enter the ocean a multitude of different
ways such as through illegal offshore dumping, storm water drainage, lost fishing equipment,
overflowing during high volume rain events, improper or lack of sewage treatment of water, or simply
by blowing off of piers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ocean pollution can be found floating in large, island like patches in the middle of the ocean or
washed up on beaches, local and uninhabited. Plastic pollution can be found at the surface of water or
in the deep depths of the ocean, going as far down as the ocean floor (Seltenrich, A36). Due to its
negative buoyancy, most all plastic will begin to sink after entering the ocean. This becomes an issue
because it is very difficult to account for how much plastic is truly in the ocean when most plastic
counting assessments do not test ocean water lower than a few feet of the ocean s surface. When
scientists do not have a clear depiction of exactly how much plastic is in the ocean, it is very difficult
to combat against its effects or understand how to fix the problem.
Ocean pollution can be separated into two different categories: large plastic and microplastics. Large
plastic can be anything from nets, buoys, or ropes used and forgotten by fishermen, to glass, plastic
bags and rubber used by the everyday Americans (Eriksen, 154). This plastic can be described as the
more visual type of pollutant. This type of plastic is also very

Holden s Humility
In the novel, The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, the book explores the Socio Economic theme,
and the novel illustrates the theme through presenting the types of social classes in the book. The book
presents the poor, middle, and elite classes, each with their respective characteristics according to the
amount of money they have; for example, the elite class has common things people would expect of
wealthy people. Holden, the main protagonist, is also of the higher class status; however, he is rather
more humble than someone who wants a lot of luxury. Holden s humility about his wealth is
illustrated through how he has cheap, simple items and how he feels about money in order to express
Holden as a rich, yet humble, character. To start out, Holden s family lives in an apartment, which is
more simple than typical luxurious housing, such as mansions. In fact, DB s bedroom is the most
luxurious compared to all the rooms in their apartment. The book doesn t mention any other rooms
besides the living room and DB s bedroom. Because this is an apartment, it is likely there are not any
other rooms. Holden does mention ...[i]t s a pretty old apartment house..., and everything creaks and

I Love Songs Analysis
Three Songs There are three songs that I believe go along with We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. One
song is All My Loving by The Beatles, because for all the love that were hallucinations that Cadence
had during the story for Gat. A second song that I think goes with the story is Medicine by The 1975,
because once Cadence learned the truth of the accident, all her migraines, aches, and hallucinations
disappeared. The last song I think corresponds with the story is The Beach from The Neighbourhood,
because i think it describes how Cadence feels towards the end of the story. I think the song All My
Loving by The Beatles goes with the story with the hallucinations that she has of Gat. The first line of
the song is Close your eyes and I ll kiss you Tomorrow I ll miss you Remember I ll always be true
which I believe matches with the feeling that Cadence gets in the end of the story. She loved Gat and

took the life of her cousins and family dogs, so that part of the song is when Cadence starts to
remember parts of the accident, but not the whole thing. Throughout the song the singer has a feeling
that he s hoping that he doesn t hurt his loved one and I think I can match that part to when Cadence

Background Of Mission And Lead Up For Failure
Background of Mission and Lead up to Failure
NASA along with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) partnered up and rolled out to launch a
sequence of space mission to probe neighboring planets such as Mercury, Venus, and Mars. The
Mariner was considered as a robotic interplanetary probe to NASA and all space officials involved
with this project. The Mariner was developed around the time of President John F. Kennedy s
administration, which was in the 1960 s. The United States was in a big race with USSR in the 1960 s
and it was referred to many people in that time as the Space Race . During this time both countries
were racing to build the most elite, sophisticated, and technologically advanced spacecraft s on the
planet. The propose of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This spacecraft also had solar panels that recharged the fuel battery and to boost power flow. In the
early years of the space program, when the Mariner 1 was launch, this was very robust, sound, and an
advanced piece of machinery. The reason why NASA and JPL made this spacecraft sophisticated was
because a couple years before 1962 there were two missions that had a stated objective to conduct a
Venus flyby however both rockets failed. The cost of Mariner was $18.5 million dollars, but in today s
world it s roughly $135 million.
Reasons why the Mariner 1 failed launched became historic was partially due to a very avoidable
error, which NASA described as a, hyphen in the data editing . However, days leading up to launch
there was speculation that NASA officials were working under a very tight schedule with a launch
window of 45 days, and that gave little time under such pressure to launch another spacecraft to
Venus. Also, since this mission was extremely technological, there was much attention by newsgroups
and the public, this made the mission very high profile and added to the amount of tense pressure for
launch.
Causes of Failure There was not one concise reason that led to the failure of Mariner 1,

Cellphone Impaired Driving
How many accidents do you know that have been caused by impairment with a cell phone? When
looking around an intersection, it is common to see drivers looking in their laps instead of the road.
Multiple messaging apps like facebook messenger and snapchat are making cellphones hard to put
down for long amounts of time. It is crucial to find out if cell phones can be linked to impaired
driving. In this experiment, we will test the effects of talking on a cell phone during a driving test and
see if talking on a cell phone will lead to worse driving scores compared to drivers not talking on a
cellphone.
First off, when tasked with creating an experimental design, you must randomly assign your
participants into different testing groups. For this experiment, we will have the control group and an
experimental group. Our research participants will be randomly assigned to either group and we will
check drivers in each group for 20/20 vision. We will also check the participants driving record to see

eyes while maintaining good lighting for the course. A driving instructor will be placed in the car with

this is only to record the initial results. The next day we will set up the same course as yesterday but
this time have the experimental group of drivers perform the course while being asked Trivial Pursuit
trivia questions by our researchers. The control group will drive the course the same as the previous
day. A driving instructor will remain in the car recording the results. With this set up, we have secured
the independent variable as the one we want to test. The conditions remain the same every day for
both groups except for one the one variable we are

  • 2. What Is The Destructive Symbolic Elements In The Open Boat In The Open Boat, Stephen Crane demonstrates nature as a destructive symbolic element that describes an objective correlative aspect. There are specific events and characteristics which expresses emotions in the form of artistic revelation. For example, the mysterious experiences of nature as a character creates a persuasive impression. Stephen Crane illustrates descriptive phenomena as an exceptional delicacy: The manner of her scramble over these walls of water is a mystic thing, and moreover, at the top of them were ordinarily these problems in white water, the foam racing down from the summit of each wave, requiring a new leap, and a leap from the air (585). • 3. Financial Risk Of For College Aid From The Department Of... Student loans are unique. This same analysis would not apply to, say, home loans. With houses, private lenders play a critical role in determining who is a credit worthy borrower, and what the appropriate loan amount is for the asset that is being purchased with the loan proceeds. The financial risk of being wrong causes lenders to take seriously the job of allocating loan capital efficiently. But in the federal student loan program, there is a single process for determining eligibility for college aid from the Department of Education and other federal agencies. When private lenders are involved in the student loan program, they get paid but add no economic value to the process beyond the provision of capital a role the federal government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every loan program now has an estimated subsidy cost put simply, the amount of money that needs to be set aside when the loan is made in order to cover the loan s costs to the government over the life of the loan. The GAO explains that the old approach distorted costs and did not recognize the economic reality of the transactions, while the new approach provides transparency regarding the government s total estimated subsidy costs rather than recognizing these costs sporadically on a cash basis over several years as payments are made and receipts are collected. This more rational approach changed the nature of policy discussions on Capitol Hill. Student loans were among the first programs to be affected. Federal student loans had originally been direct loans, following a recommendation of the economist Milton Friedman in the 1950s. But when Congress in 1965 wanted to expand on that start, the irrational budget rules of the time got in the way: A guaranteed loan appeared to cost nothing, and a direct loan showed up in the budget as a total loss in the year it was made, even though most of it would be paid back with interest. But now, after the 1990 budget reforms, the equation changed. Congress, prompted by a memo leaked from the Bush administration that indicated direct loans would be less costly and ... Although this is a different concept, it is oddly similar to the argument of paying people for donating their tissue. Doctors are making millions of dollars off cures for diseases and vaccines. All the while, breaking many patient privacy laws to do so. We would not have many of the medical breakthroughs we have today if people did not donate their body tissue. Therefore, we owe credit to those who have given tissue to help with modern medical advances. The legal requirements for donating human tissue differ from case to case. Consent must always be given in order to obtain human tissue. The rules of consent vary between children and adults. If adults are alive, then it is absolutely mandatory to have verbal consent. Kesselheim, and Steven Joffe, authors of Paying Patients for their Tissue: The Legacy of Henrietta Lacks, If patients own their tissues, even after removal of the tissue from their bodies, then it follows that they have the right to demand payment when a profitable discovery derives from their tissue. If doctors continue to shrug the issue off their shoulder, soon enough there will no longer be any patients willing to donate their human body tissue.. Since the 1950 s, people have heard of the wrong that doctors, scientists, and medical researchers did to the family of Henrietta Lacks.. They deserved monetary compensation in some form, but in return they received nothing. This could heavily influence new patient s decisions to donate their tissue. Patients will feel as if they are the reason doctors and medical researchers are making millions of dollars off their tissue, while they sit around at home struggling to pay their medical ... • 5. Genetic Algorithms And Its Applications Of Cyber Security Genetic Algorithms and its Applications to Cyber Security Paper By Sameera Chalamalasetty Guided By Dr. Mario A Garcia Abstract: Genetic algorithms (GAs) were initially proposed by John Holland, whose thoughts were connected and developed by Goldberg. GAs are a heuristic pursuit procedure in view of the standards of the Darwinian thought of survival of the fittest and characteristic genetics. Holland s work was basically an endeavor to numerically comprehend the versatile procedures of nature, however the general accentuation of GA examination from that point forward has been in discovering applications, numerous in the field of combinatorial enhancement. Genetic algorithms have been utilized as a part of science and engineering as versatile algorithms for tackling functional issues and as computational models of common developmental frameworks. In the latest couple of decades, this procedure with advancement of cutting edge development has accomplished something new. Introduction: Li [3] describes genetic algorithm as a family of computational models based on evolution and natural selection. Play, By Marc Leblanc When describing the characteristics of play, Huizinga (1995) pointed out that engaging in the activity of play is not essential, yet engaging in the act of play is a voluntary activity. It is an activity that can start and stop at any time and often carried out during leisure time. He also mentioned that play only gets urgent when the enjoyment of play becomes a need. Thus, playing is enjoyable. Games are compelling because it provides players several uses such as allowing players to pass time, to procrastinate, to cheer oneself up or to play just for enjoyment (Phillips et al. 1995). Goals are a stimulus in games which motivates players to interact with the game system further and furthermore. These goals could be an explicit win state, a set of victory conditions or smaller goals that adds up to the bigger objective in the game. Goals could be in numerical form such as getting the highest score or in status form such as the development of a city. On the other hand, there are games that have no explicit winning conditions. These are usually sand box games like Grand Theft Auto V or simulation games like The Sims series, whereby players have a wide variety of goals to choose from or a wide variety of possibilities to play with. Therefore, games are goal directed interactions that involves decision making (Costikyan 2002), that are up to the player s discretion and the system of the game. Games are compelling this way because each gameplay of the same game will be dfferent.... To make achieving goals in games a little more challenging for the players, games have the element of struggle to make things interesting. The type: Garage door springs are available in two types, torsion and extension. Most older doors have extension springs while newer models use torsion springs. Apart from the varying mechanism, the placement of these springs also differs. Torsion springs are placed above the door while extension springs are attached on the sides of the upper tracks. As their name suggests, extension springs actually get stretched when the door is lowered and contract when the door is raised. In contrast, torsion springs are tightly wound and they unwind when the door is opened and the cable is wound back around the drum when the door is closed. An extension system can be converted to a torsion spring system, but as you may have guessed, this does call for professional intervention. 2. The dimensions: The weight that a garage door spring can handle will depend on its dimensions. When it comes to torsion springs, the length, the wire size, the inside diameter of the drum and the number of turns are crucial considerations. Accuracy is extremely important when measuring these dimensions. • 11. Essay On The Future Of The Energy Industry What is the future of the energy industry in Canada? A big uncertainty that arises for the energy industry in Canada surrounds the new U.S. administration. According to National Resources Canada, Canada currently exports 99% of its oil and gas to the U.S. (2017a). If Trump were to revise the current NAFTA agreement, and impose a tax on imports to the U.S. from Canada, it could result in Canada losing a major partner, and cause the economy to take a hit. As mentioned, President Trump is in support of the Keystone XL pipeline, however, that then also comes under scrutiny for how much of the profit would Trump expect. What is Suncor s Future? Based on the challenges identified, and the way that Suncor approaches these challenges, the future looks bright for Suncor. As the case study points out, water use is an environmental issue that requires careful management (Vietor, 2016, p.7). The major oil producing companies were taking measures to reduce the amount of fresh water they were withdrawing from the Athabasca River, and the Canadian government had restricted withdrawals to 5.2% of the river s median flow (Vietor, 2016, p.7). In 2015, Suncor more than exceeded their goal of reducing their water usage. The government regulated that they could use 59.8 million cubic meters annually, however, their 2014 usage was only 18.65 million cubic meters, (Vietor, 2016 p.12). This demonstrates that Suncor is on track to meet national demands and constraints placed on the energy industry. As they are ahead of the game in this regard, they set precedence for other oil and gas companies in the industry, and this action encourages them to reduce their own water consumption in the future. As Suncor has already achieved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the poem Juggler by Richard Wilbur, the author uses imagery, figurative language and tone to describe the juggler as someone who brings happiness and fun to others. The use of imagery, figurative language, and tone are used to describe the juggler and reveal the speaker s own views about the world. Throughout the poem the author uses imagery to describe the juggler s appearance and the tricks he is accomplishing in his show. For example, Wilbur states, it takes a sky blue juggler with five red balls...to shake our gravity up. (lines 6 7). The author s description of the juggler as someone who can shake our gravity up (line 7) shows that the juggler is someone who has a tremendous impact on the audience and the speaker. This is true since the crowd is full of serious people and the juggler evokes happiness and astonishment from the audience. Moreover, by saying this the audience is able to get an insight into the life of the speaker; we are able to see that not a lot of things happen in the speaker s life that cause or bring up excitement and happiness. Additionally, Wilbur shows the reader how the juggler is performing, the author says, Oh, on his toe the table is turning, the broom s Balancing up on his nose, and the plate whirls. On the tip of the broom! (lines 9 21). We can see that as the juggler is performing his great trick the crowd is excited and amazed at what he is accomplishing through his performance when the author says, Damn, what a show, we cry... (line 21). Having the crowd cheer at the juggler as he completes his trick of the balancing act showed that the juggler was able to bring happiness and amazement with the many tricks he was able to perform for the crowd. As the poem progresses, we can see how the juggler manipulates the five red balls he is using to move around his body. In the poem, Wilbur uses figurative language like personification to show how the balls move by the tricks the juggler does. Whether it is on the side of the road, being collected in large masses such as in landfills, or located in the depths of our oceans, plastic has integrated itself into our environment as well as our society. However, no one environment sees the most impact from plastic pollution than our waterways and oceans. Plastic waste can enter the ocean a multitude of different ways such as through illegal offshore dumping, storm water drainage, lost fishing equipment, overflowing during high volume rain events, improper or lack of sewage treatment of water, or simply by blowing off of piers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ocean pollution can be found floating in large, island like patches in the middle of the ocean or washed up on beaches, local and uninhabited. Plastic pollution can be found at the surface of water or in the deep depths of the ocean, going as far down as the ocean floor (Seltenrich, A36). Due to its negative buoyancy, most all plastic will begin to sink after entering the ocean. This becomes an issue because it is very difficult to account for how much plastic is truly in the ocean when most plastic counting assessments do not test ocean water lower than a few feet of the ocean s surface. When scientists do not have a clear depiction of exactly how much plastic is in the ocean, it is very difficult to combat against its effects or understand how to fix the problem. Ocean pollution can be separated into two different categories: large plastic and microplastics. Large plastic can be anything from nets, buoys, or ropes used and forgotten by fishermen, to glass, plastic bags and rubber used by the everyday Americans (Eriksen, 154). This plastic can be described as the more visual type of pollutant. This type of plastic is also very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Holden s Humility In the novel, The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, the book explores the Socio Economic theme, and the novel illustrates the theme through presenting the types of social classes in the book. The book presents the poor, middle, and elite classes, each with their respective characteristics according to the amount of money they have; for example, the elite class has common things people would expect of wealthy people. Holden, the main protagonist, is also of the higher class status; however, he is rather more humble than someone who wants a lot of luxury. Holden s humility about his wealth is illustrated through how he has cheap, simple items and how he feels about money in order to express Holden as a rich, yet humble, character. To start out, Holden s family lives in an apartment, which is more simple than typical luxurious housing, such as mansions. In fact, DB s bedroom is the most luxurious compared to all the rooms in their apartment. The book doesn t mention any other rooms besides the living room and DB s bedroom. Because this is an apartment, it is likely there are not any other rooms. Holden does mention ...[i]t s a pretty old apartment house..., and everything creaks and squeaks... and calls the ... • 33. I Love Songs Analysis Three Songs There are three songs that I believe go along with We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. One song is All My Loving by The Beatles, because for all the love that were hallucinations that Cadence had during the story for Gat. A second song that I think goes with the story is Medicine by The 1975, because once Cadence learned the truth of the accident, all her migraines, aches, and hallucinations disappeared. The last song I think corresponds with the story is The Beach from The Neighbourhood, because i think it describes how Cadence feels towards the end of the story. I think the song All My Loving by The Beatles goes with the story with the hallucinations that she has of Gat. The first line of the song is Close your eyes and I ll kiss you Tomorrow I ll miss you Remember I ll always be true which I believe matches with the feeling that Cadence gets in the end of the story. She loved Gat and now he s gone, but she ll continues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The part of the song that she feels that s a burden is Now I need your help with everything that I do, I don t want to lie, I ve relying on you. Cadence asked her mother to tell her what happened the night of the accident and relies on her mother for going through the day. For the pain the lyrics are I can admit, I m not fireproof, I feel it burning me, I feel it burning you. When really the accident was a fire that took the life of her cousins and family dogs, so that part of the song is when Cadence starts to remember parts of the accident, but not the whole thing. Throughout the song the singer has a feeling that he s hoping that he doesn t hurt his loved one and I think I can match that part to when Cadence realizes that all her loved ones are gone because of what she did. One specific part of the song is I hope I don t murder me, I don t burden you when in the end she kills them and burdens her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Background Of Mission And Lead Up For Failure Background of Mission and Lead up to Failure NASA along with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) partnered up and rolled out to launch a sequence of space mission to probe neighboring planets such as Mercury, Venus, and Mars. The Mariner was considered as a robotic interplanetary probe to NASA and all space officials involved with this project. The Mariner was developed around the time of President John F. Kennedy s administration, which was in the 1960 s. The United States was in a big race with USSR in the 1960 s and it was referred to many people in that time as the Space Race . During this time both countries were racing to build the most elite, sophisticated, and technologically advanced spacecraft s on the planet. The propose of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This spacecraft also had solar panels that recharged the fuel battery and to boost power flow. In the early years of the space program, when the Mariner 1 was launch, this was very robust, sound, and an advanced piece of machinery. The reason why NASA and JPL made this spacecraft sophisticated was because a couple years before 1962 there were two missions that had a stated objective to conduct a Venus flyby however both rockets failed. The cost of Mariner was $18.5 million dollars, but in today s world it s roughly $135 million. Reasons why the Mariner 1 failed launched became historic was partially due to a very avoidable error, which NASA described as a, hyphen in the data editing . However, days leading up to launch there was speculation that NASA officials were working under a very tight schedule with a launch window of 45 days, and that gave little time under such pressure to launch another spacecraft to Venus. Also, since this mission was extremely technological, there was much attention by newsgroups and the public, this made the mission very high profile and added to the amount of tense pressure for launch. Causes of Failure There was not one concise reason that led to the failure of Mariner 1, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Cellphone Impaired Driving How many accidents do you know that have been caused by impairment with a cell phone? When looking around an intersection, it is common to see drivers looking in their laps instead of the road. Multiple messaging apps like facebook messenger and snapchat are making cellphones hard to put down for long amounts of time. It is crucial to find out if cell phones can be linked to impaired driving. In this experiment, we will test the effects of talking on a cell phone during a driving test and see if talking on a cell phone will lead to worse driving scores compared to drivers not talking on a cellphone. First off, when tasked with creating an experimental design, you must randomly assign your participants into different testing groups. For this experiment, we will have the control group and an experimental group. Our research participants will be randomly assigned to either group and we will check drivers in each group for 20/20 vision. We will also check the participants driving record to see if their is a history ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We will have both groups perform a driving test at 12:00pm to help reduce sunlight in the driver s eyes while maintaining good lighting for the course. A driving instructor will be placed in the car with the subject. They will record the scores of the drivers. No cell phones will be used this day because this is only to record the initial results. The next day we will set up the same course as yesterday but this time have the experimental group of drivers perform the course while being asked Trivial Pursuit trivia questions by our researchers. The control group will drive the course the same as the previous day. A driving instructor will remain in the car recording the results. With this set up, we have secured the independent variable as the one we want to test. The conditions remain the same every day for both groups except for one the one variable we are ...
