State Vs Crone Case Study
Extortion
Extortion is often a term heard when we think of the Mafia and their criminal activities; more
specifically, the Mafia s use of intimidation to force businesses to pay for protection. However,
extortion is not always used for monetary gain. In the following case, State v. Crone the issue of
extortion is examined. Under Iowa Code section 711.4 portions of extortion are defined as being
a person that does any of the following with the purpose of obtaining for oneself or another
anything of value, tangible or intangible, including labor or services as well as threatening to
expose any person to hatred, contempt, or ridicule ( Iowa Code 711 , n.d.).

Forman felt hassled by Crone, who kept insisting that they meet; which Forman refused to do.
Due to Forman, failing to meet with Crone, Crone made threats to circulate the illicit pictures.
Crone followed through on his threat to display the pictures of Forman and did so in public places
on the University of Iowa s campus as well as copies of the pictures were sent to Forman s family,
friends, and co worker of Forman s mother (Brody Acker, 2010).
After running away to Idaho, Crone in 1994 returned to Iowa to face charges of extortion and
sexual abuse in the third degree. Crone was found guilty after trial of extortion and assault with
the intent to commit sexual abuse. As a result of Crone s conviction he was sentenced to two (2)
terms, five (5) years for extortion and two (2) years for the assault that was to run consecutively.
Crone decided to appeal only his conviction for extortion and the sentence given. Crone appealed on
the grounds that extortion based on two elements were unfounded and ineffective counsel (Brody

Financial Accounting Concerns
1. Tokyo AFM recognized premium revenue at the time it received the policyholder s up front cash
payment. The company s accountants argued that since the level of up front payments received
from policyholders had been stable over the last few years, this method was an appropriate
reflection of economic reality.
For example, Fuji Computers entered into a five year insurance contract with Tokyo AFM against
earthquake damage to its headquarters building. As is customary, it paid the 100 million premiums
for the five year coverage up front in cash.
Question: How would you recognize revenues associated with this type of catastrophe insurance
contract?

Another expense that can be considered for capitalization is advertising costs. Only advertising
costs that are direct response advertising can be capitalized. Direct response advertising is
advertising for which the primary purpose is to stimulate sales to customers or potential customers
that have specifically responded to the advertising and it results in probable future benefits. Hence
$20,000 cost of marketing efforts incurred over the past six months to promote Home Umbrella
which is direct response advertising cost should be capitalized and amortized over the period of
contract.
3. Broadly speaking, two major types of insured events could give rise to losses covered by
insurance contracts:
* Events that actuarial analysis could assess and predict with a high level of accuracy across a
large number of contracts (for example, events covered by automobile insurance). * Catastrophes,
which were generally adverse natural events such as earthquakes and hurricanes, but which could
also be human induced events such as terrorist attacks. Catastrophes were considered low
probability high consequence events. They were uncertain and very difficult to predict in terms of
timing and extent of damage. For the coming year, the company had estimated that expected losses
across all its automobile insurance contracts would amount to 70% of

Comparing The Seneca Falls Convention And The Declaration...
Throughout history, courageous people have stood up and worked hard to bring people together
and make change. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott are the two women who were brave
enough to stand up in front of the crowd and fight for what they believed in. By holding the Seneca
Falls Convention and drafting the Declaration of Sentiments they highlighted the issues that needed
to change. This is recognized as the beginning of the women s rights movement.
The early 19th century in the United States was a period of many social upheavals and reforms
including women s rights. The women s rights movement in the United States began with a
convention held at the Wesleyan Church chapel located in Seneca Falls, New York, which became
known as the Seneca Falls Convention. Approximately 200 people, men and women, attended;
many of them were already activists in various movements. During the convention the Declaration
of Sentiments and Resolutions was created and presented. This document defined the rights that
both men and women should have. This eventually led to women s right to vote, own property and
have independent lives. The Seneca Falls Convention was a monumental event that resulted in a
movement that truly changed the idea of women being less equal ... Show more content on

Gender Labeling Research Paper
Throughout history, some babies have always been born with ambiguous genitalia, partially
formed sex organs, micro organs, or organs of both sexes. This was either due to deviations in
the anatomical development of the fetus and because of exposure during fetal gestation to
hormones and chemicals. To describe such people, sexologists have gradually begun to use the
more neutral term intersex children or children with developmental sex disorders. However,
various ethical issues come in light as these children grow into adults or when physicians assign a
gender to babies following the traditional view of gender labeling means a happy adjustment in
school, in the family, and in society. Intersex and transsexual labeling especially create problems in
sports where athletes must compete with as female or male. Transgender differs from intersex such
that transgender people feel they live in a body of the wrong gender hence seeking hormone
therapy while intersex have abnormal sex organs. Both kinds of people want the right to choose
their gender and may seek hormones and surgery to do so. One such example is an ophthalmologist
Richard Raskind who underwent surgery to become Rene Richards and competed on the
professional women s tennis circuit creating a huge controversy. Another example is of South
African runner Caster Semenya,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another researcher, Milton Diamond, believed that biology and hormones made gender identity,
not childhood socialization, and hence, became a life long skeptic of John Money s views on the
social construction of gender. Diamond, with other researchers, explained that a fetus s over
exposure to androgens from a mother s unknown tumor will give the child a masculine or
androgynous experience. so he says that although biology may be destiny, it a biology that s part

Narcissism In The Peter
In addition to the fact that Peter could not enjoy domestic happiness, he is also unable to form
lasting, loving relationships with any human being. This could be explained by Peter s
heartlessness that is attached to forgetfulness and narcissism. Firstly, his narcissism lies in the
fact that he does not truly care about anyone except himself. Consequently, Peter never noticed
how short Wendy s dress become at the end of the first year because he had so much about
himself and even when he came again after many years he at first didn t notice a difference, for
he was thinking chiefly of himself . Secondly, it is a known fact that memories have a very strong
impact on life in general; they are a powerful source of emotions, also remembering... Show more

I personally think that writer wanted to emphasis the importance of growing up but at the same
time remain a little child inside and it is totally different from just remaining a child and rejecting
the adulthood as Peter does. For example, there was very childish deed when James Hook was
doomed to death and invited Peter with a gesture to use his foot . Even though Capitan was
dying he was calm and almost happy because of Peter s bad forms . Likewise, Mr. Darling, as the
writer pointed out, might have passed for a boy again if he had been able to take his baldness
off . Also, the fact that he ceased to be sensitive to the opinion of neighbours , nearly lived in the
kennel as well as medicine accident displayed his childish behaviour. However, exactly this
situation made him feel gratifying and he became sweeter . Lastly, Wendy herself is a direct
proof that there is nothing terrible adulthood, conversely she was one of the kind that likes to
grow up . Although something inside her was crying Woman, woman, let go of me , it was just a
quick impulse, as a matter of fact, she was simply nostalgic about dear old days why (shy) could
fly . All these cases illustrate that it is no necessity in perpetual youth because adults could be also
happy if there is a child living in their

Ibis hotel is an economic chain hotel which is one of the brands of Accor international hotel. This
hotel equipped with full range of facilities, including internet connection, bath room, room furniture,
and restaurants (Ibis 2013). Compared with other economic hotels, the sound insulation of the walls
of Ibis hotel is quite satisfactory, which protects customers privacy. In addition, the Ibis hotel also
provides different languages television channels that satisfy guests needs with various language
backgrounds, and the hotel also applied the advanced AV equipment to attract more professional
merchants. Meanwhile, the Ibis hotel offers a clear price both outside and inside of the hotel,
which means there are no difference between the announced price and what is paid (Accor
Business Traveller survey 2009), which conveys the reliability of the hotel service to guests.
Nevertheless, Ibis hotel merely provides free internet in public areas, which is not convenient for
guests. Furthermore, even though the Ibis hotel has more than 900 branches all over the world, the
types of the guest rooms are simplex, which cannot satisfy family groups in some countries.
According to (Rosalyn 2010, p. 20), analyzing the local market needs is the key element to expand

Class Differences In Education Since 1918
How have class and gender affected educational experiences since 1918, and has this changed over
time?
In 1917, during a speech at Newcastle, English historian, educator and politician H. A. L. Fisher
argued that Education was an important tool in creating a harmonious and equitable society; a
society free from class preconceptions and bias. Fisher stated, Education dispels the hideous clouds
of class suspicion and softens the asperities of faction (cited in Simon, 1965, p. 344). In the same
year, members of the Workers Educational Association (WEA) made a statement declaring their
wish to eliminate inequalities within higher education, stating that they are united in the desire to
bring within reach [...] the Higher Education which has hitherto been too much the privilege of the
few (Reported in The Highway, February 1917, cited in Simon, 1965, p. 329). Yet, for the next
fifty years, the class division, factions and inequalities noted in 1917 by Fisher and the WEA would
continue to permeate the English education system, with social class and gender continuing to shape
educational experiences. Considering this, this essay will explore how issues of class and gender
have affected educational experiences in the years since 1918, with ... Show more content on

An Environmental Impact Assessment For The Queensferry...
1.0Scope of Project
1.1 Background
An environmental impact assessment for the Queensferry Crossing Bridge has been a topic of
discussion for a while because of the concern about the future of the Forth Road Bridge. The new
cable stayed Queensferry Crossing bridge doesn t aim to replace The Forth Road bridge but co exist
parallel to it.
1.1.2Introduction to Project
In 2009, transport for Scotland submitted the Forth crossing bill , the scheme is being taken
forward in accordance with a policy memorandum. The queens ferry crossing will be built
instead of repairing the current forth road bridge. Repairing the current bridge will take between
7 and 9 years, without an alternative crossing, sustained disruption of traffic will have a
significant effect. The queens ferry crossing will provide two lanes in each direction, replacing
road provisions for general traffic, increased travel growth will need to be satisfied by public
transport.
The estimated cost of the scheme is between ВЈ1.325 ВЈ1.35 billion. New technology will be
implemented for the queen s ferry crossing; it will be more climate resistant than the current bridge.
Key feature of the new bridge include:
Use of the latest, more durable materials
Cables that are easier to replace, replacement can be done during normal maintenance work, the
bridge doesn t get shut
dehumidification system inside the box girder, decrease corrosion damage
Modern paint systems decrease corrosion

White Nationalism Is Un-American
White Nationalism Is Un American
White nationalism is an umbrella term to describe the ideology that calls for the creation of an all
white ethnostate in America. Mainly, this is to be achieved by the deportation and genocides of
non whites. White nationalists claim that the white genocide, or the cultural dilution of Americans
of European descent, is occurring to the detriment of this country, by allowing immigration from
other parts of the world the United States is only weakening it s economy and degridating the moral
fabric of its society. Despite nativist claims that they are real Americans, the ideology of white

Samuel Becket s Waiting On Godot
In the times leading up to, during, and after World War I the world changed. As a reflection of
that change writers began experimenting with perspective, time and order, form, etc. Literature
wasn t as straightforward; there were metaphors within metaphors, stories without clear
beginnings middles and ends, poets used mixed meters and free verse became common
becoming what is known as the modernist era. Around World War II the same thing happened
again, but taken to the extreme. This was known as the postmodern era and writers began to use
their works to convey their sense of how strange the world around them was. The works that will
be discussed are Samuel Becket s Waiting on Godot, a play about two friends who wait for the
titular Godot over two day with the second questioning the existence of the first. House of
Leaves, by Mark Danielewski, is a cult classic about man trying to understand a manuscript about
a movie about a family who moves into a house that s bigger on the inside the the outside, this
novel is special because of how it s printed, and it s use of multiple narrators, and the final piece,
Infinite Jest, by David Foster Wallace, is a bafflingly complex piece with four major interwoven
narratives and nearly a hundred pages of footnotes, some of which have footnotes within
themselves. In this paper these three books will be discussed in detail and, through the review, the
characteristics of postmodernism will be identified. Additionally, how the writing

Bill Of Rights
Free Speech and the Internet
Several years after the end of the American Revolution the United States Constitution was being
drafted by some of the nations most important historical figures. Politicians such as Benjamin
Franklin, John Hancock, and George Washington were just three of the thirty nine who eventually
signed the Constitution on September 17, 1787 ( United States Constitution, 2015, 1787 Drafting,
para. 7). With the birth of the constitution, came the fear that our newly created nation might slip
back under control of a monarchy once again. Therefore, on June 8, 1789, in order to combat such
a situation, a group of anti federalists headed by James Madison proposed a series of thirty nine
amendments to be added to the Constitution. These amendments were designed to guarantee a
number of personal freedoms, limit the government s power in judicial and other proceedings, and
reserve some powers to the states and the public ( United States Bill of Rights, 2015, Introduction,
para. 1). The first ten of the new amendments, arguably the most important of the thirty nine, were
thus labeled the Bill of Rights. Amendments in the Bill of Rights protect freedoms such as the right
to bear arms, protection from unreasonable search and seizure, right to due process, right to trail by
jury, protection from quartering troops, and finally the First Amendment, the right to freedom of
speech, press, religion, peaceable assembly, and to petition the government ( United States

Langston Hughes was one of the most important writers and thinkers of the
Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s, which was the first major movement of African
American life and culture. Hughes was influenced by living in New York City s Harlem, where his

music. By bring together the genera s of gospel, blues, country, and jazz, Charles was able to create
a groundbreaking style of music that had not yet been heard of in the music industry.
Born Ray Charles Robinson on the 23rd of September 1930 in Albany, Georgia, Charles was

had left him traumatised, and soon after this, at the age of 6, he contracted glaucoma, which was

Conbolism In The Symbols Of The Hamburger Mary s
Hamburger Mary s. According to Mrs. Young (2017), the rainbow can be displayed in the form of
a sticker, tattoo, or flags (Young, personal communications, June 26, 2017). There is also a symbol
of the LGBTQ community that is not as commonly known. Per Mrs. Young (2017), there is a
yellow equal symbol with a blue background (Young, personal communications, June 26, 2017). I
have seen this symbol becoming popular as a bumper sticker on automobiles. Mrs. Young (2017)
also talked about the sexual symbols such as two women and two men, as well as the puns. The
puns can include Gaydar and Born this way slogans (Young, personal communications, June 26,
2017). With artifacts being expressed openly other members of the subculture are aware of the
shared subculture of which they are a part of. When members of the subculture find out about a new
member it does not make them instant friends. According to Mrs. Young (2017), many people that
are not a part of the subculture make the huge misconception that everyone that is in the subculture
knows one another. Furthermore, those that are a part of the subculture make friends the same way
as those outside of the subculture. Just because another person is LGBTQ does not make them
instant friends (Young, personal communications, June 26, 2017). The LGBTQ is an increasingly
known subculture. The members of the subculture not only have their own functions, but they also
make an impact in our Colorado community. I have noticed the impact of the subculture becoming
well known and is still on the rise of recognition.

there is nothing in SB 14 that is discriminatory, but the judges of the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals
still chose to reject it. Both bills were motivated by racism; neither was necessary to preserve voter

Issues With Global Economic Agreement
Issues with global economic agreement
This article takes the international trade policy as the main research object, and carries on the key
research and the analysis to the performance effectiveness in the scope of this article. First it briefly
introduces the regional and global trade agreements that I will examine. Then list the member
nations, how the trade group formed, and the reasoning behind the agreement historically,
politically, and economically.
Introduction
I. Global Economic Organization WTO defined.
The World Trade Organization(WTO) is an international organization because of the benefits from
the mutually binding commitments. Countries join the international system and sign the
international trade agreement for the mutual benefit of all. This desire to work with other countries
encourages the country to sign the international agreement which regulates trade practices, and
ultimately maintains compliance with the policies of international trade. WTO was found in 1995,
and took the place of the GATT. In 2015, Kazakhstan became the 162th member.
(how the trade group formed, and the reason for the agreement historically, politically and
economically.)
II. Current Large Trade Agreements among countries in North America, Asia and Europe
The followings are current large trade agreements among countries in North America, Asia and
Europe, includes NAFTA, APEC, ASEAN, EU, and etc.

work; consequently, when it was time for lent. As a result, I would pick on him for eating meat
when he was not aloud, but that was all I really knew about the religion. The night before the big
day I called him, because not knowing much about the Catholic wedding, I did not know what to
wear. I did not know if I had to wear a suit or if I could wear khakis and a polo shirt. So, he told me
khakis would work with a nice dress shirt. When Saturday came, I did not know I would feel
confused or fell as out of place as I did. However, on the way to the church I figured this would
be the typical wedding, where they would say their vows and the preacher would say you may
kiss the bride , then I could make it home to watch the end of the buckeye s game. Nevertheless,
this is not how the wedding would go.

Genetically Modified Crops Are A Hazard Of Human Health
People continuously stir the pot when it comes to Genetically Modified crops, creating myths and
allowing fear to spread across the globe. Some people believe that genetically modified crops are a
hazard to human health, while others see the advantages of GM farming. There is a great amount of
hesitation when people hear the terms antibiotic resistance and contamination when it involves their
food. These terms are taken out of context and without a proper understanding of their role in plant
genetics, can create fallacies. Genetically modified crops are in fact a negligible risk when it comes
to human health.

Genetic modification was even further enhanced in 2000 when it was discovered that the
process could be used to introduce vitamins and nutrients to enrich foods. There are four main
genetically modified crops dominating global agriculture: corn, canola, soybeans, and cotton.
As of 2004, GM crops were being grown by 8.25 million farmers in 17 countries. The United
States is one of the leading proponents for biotechnology, and is often looked to as the big
brother of genetic modifications as it far surpasses global competition. According to the ISAA,
The United States accounts for 59% of all Genetically Modified crops (James). While modified
foods have made their way into the United States food supply, Europe has experienced quite a bit
of backlash. Mixed feelings in regards to GM foods is mainly due to the debate surrounding
biotechnology. Through media and social sources, the controversy surrounding genetically
modified crops has increased greatly over the last decade. Left wing individuals, the UCS (Union
of Concerned Scientists), and many organic/all natural advocates are the leading cause for the
hesitation when it comes to GMO s. The USC is a nonprofit organization that includes many
private citizens as well as professional scientists that attempt to solve pressing global problems.
Many organic advocates are against GMO because of the idea that the manipulation of the crops is

Swot Analysis Of Alibuba In China
Introduction:
In the year 2016, an e commerce giant held a one day sales bonanza that outsold Black Friday
and Cyber Monday at all US retailers combined. It was not Amazon s Prime Day; it was Chinese
e commerce company Alibaba s Singles Day Holiday, in November of 2016, where
approximately $17.8 billion worth of goods were sold, according to Business Insider (http:/
/www.businessinsider.com/amazon prime day vs alibaba singles day 2017 7). Alibaba, founded in
1999 by Jack Ma to connect Chinese manufacturers to buyers, has grown into an e commerce giant
with a portfolio of innovative smaller companies working within it. However, the fact that a vast
majority of their revenue is generated in China (83% of their revenue from Chinese commerce ...

This is partially motivated by Ma s acknowledgement that the Chinese economy is slowing and that
the company s explosive gains in revenue and user additions in China have slowed. While the
Chinese market may still have some growth potential, reaching these massive goals will require
global expansion to new markets. The US has a population of well over 300 million, and according
to Pew Research, in the year 2015, 84% of American adults used the internet regularly (http:/
/www.pewinternet.org/2015/06/26/americans internet access 2000 2015/ ), compared to China s
tightly restricted internet. Thus, Alibaba would be wise to expand into this country full of
technologically active potential users. Relatedly, American firms Amazon and eBay both once
sought a greater share in the Chinese e commerce Market. Examining these companies provides an
interesting lens for Alibaba s potential expansion into the United States, as these companies faced a
similar culture shock between China and the US. eBay attempted this entry in 2004, but failed due
not comprehending the needs and wants of Chinese consumers (http://onlinelibrary wiley
com.uml.idm.oclc.org/doi/10.1002/tie.21739/full ), while Amazon entered in 2004 by purchasing
Joyo.com, a book and music vendor. Although Amazon did not flame out in the manner of eBay, its
share of the Chinese e commerce market has hovered down around 1.5%. Both Amazon and eBay

The Type Of A Vector
A vector is a molecule of DNA used as a vehicle to carry foreign DNA to be expressed or
replicated within cells, including viruses and plasmids. Viruses are obligate intracellular
parasites that can only replicate inside a host cell, which are composed of nucleic acids enclosed
by a protein coat called a capsid (Wessner, D. R. 2010). For example, a viral vector is commonly
used to transfer genetic material into a cell. Vectors were discovered and developed to synthesis
and produce proteins for therapeutic use in humans, such as insulin secretion in diabetic patients.

For instance, a technique known as gene therapy is the transfer of genes into a patient s cell as a
drug to treat or prevent a disease. Gene therapy can include replacing a mutated gene, removing a
gene or the addition of a new gene (Hulot et al, 2016). A gene must be transferred from one
plasmid to another in order to give that organism a selective advantage e.g. antibiotic resistance.
However, Bacteria have been industrialized that are resistant to antibiotics such as penicillin
which is a result of the misuse of antibiotics. Resistance arises as changes or mutations within the
bacteria s genes develop, which help bacteria grow that are resistant to antibiotics and therefore
have an advantage. From researching journals, I found that Pseudomonas Aeruginosa resistance
poses threats to human and animal health as the body no longer has the defences to protect
against the bacteria. Altogether 77 isolates were tested and out of 77, 13 where negative for the
presence of class 2 integrase gene (Olga et al, 2016). Only the most beneficial bacteria are
selected to carry plasmids and so natural section is an important factor so that only those of the
greatest advantage are selected. There are various different types of plasmids some of which
include F plasmids for expression of the sex pilli, resistant plasmid that provides resistance against
antibiotics or poisons, col plasmid which contain proteins that kill or

Sexuality In The Workplace
Historically sexual harassment was strictly associated with women s work as a way of exploiting
women s sexuality in a labour context; trying to force sex in a context of economic vulnerability
was utilized as a way to keep women out of certain jobs and protect male power (Levan, 2011). In
one of the first studies of sexual harassment, consciousness raising efforts groups revealed how
nearly every woman had some experience of quitting or being fired from a job because of the
sexual behaviour of male supervisors or co workers (Levan, 2011). From this the Working Women

United for One
In the book, Outcasts United, by St. John, my favorite chapter is actually the first one. Chapter
one is all about Luma, the soccer coach of the refugees. The reason chapter one is my favorite is
because she reminds me a lot of myself. Luma wants to part from her parents and stay in the
United States of America. Her choice came with the consequences of her parents and sister not
communicating with her again if she chooses to stay in the US. Her grandma would still
communicate about the family until she passes away in a later chapter. Another example of
why this is my favorite is because I can relate to tons of it. My dad no longer talks to me due to
me moving out at too young of an age. I moved to the city to be closer to work and school but in
his eyes I was sinning. This is also why I think I relate most to Luma. There are other reasons why
I think that I relate to Luma. Throughout the whole book, Luma never wants to give up. For
example in chapter nine, Get Lost , when Luma knows she has to find a new field for her fugeesto
play on. According to St John, on page 93, the YMCA calls and lets Luma know they found a
field for her. She never gave up on her high hopes. Luma always wanted the best for her players.
I am just like Luma, as I never give up on things. My number one struggle I never give up on is
my exercise. Luma has a great strength in her hopes. She honestly doesn t care about anyone s
negative opinions. It is crazy how much I think I relate to Luma. Just

Witch Wolf Research Paper
The witch wolf is a dangerous species and is very unique. It almost looks the same as a normal

eyes. But, while they are on the prowl, all of their hair stands on end and their eyes turn black. A
adult witch wolf is about 5.1 feet to 7.3 feet in length, which is larger than a normal wolf by a

Neutral View On Abortion
I have a neutral view point on abortions and I believe that abortions are highly personal and very
private decision for anyone to make. I believe it is never easy for any woman to make a choice
about having an abortion. Abortion is a private and personal choice because it is a woman body.
Women have the control and choice to do what they want and feel is best for them and their
body at that particular moment. No one should be able to tell a woman what she can t do with
her body because it violates her right to choice. Another reason why I believe that abortions are
highly personal and private is because many women who become pregnant are simply unable to

The British House Of Lords Select Committee On Medical Ethics
There are different euthanasia laws in each country. The British House of Lords Select Committee
on Medical Ethics defines euthanasia as a deliberate intervention undertaken with the express
intention of ending a life, to relieve intractable suffering
On November 2, 2014, a twenty nine year old woman named Brittany Maynard choose to end her
life by lethal medication. Less than a year prior, she was diagnosed with a terminal glioblastoma
brain cancer, giving her only months left to live. She moved from her home in California to

their own life. Right before her death she released a statement saying: Today is the day I have
chosen to pass away with dignity in the face of my terminal illness, this terrible brain cancer has
taken so much from me...but would have taken so much more (Egan). The circumstances of her
death has caused a lot of controversy. Many believe that Maynard s choice has demeaned human
the value of human life; others have supported her decisions to end her life on her own terms.
The reality of Maynard s situation is that, in the end stages of her disease, she would be afflicted
with violent seizures and hallucinations (Glioblastoma). She would have eventually lose the

Jim Crow Laws In The 1800s
Soon after slavery was abolished in 1865, all races could live freely without being controlled by
anyone else...or so they thought. A new rule in the southern states in America divided whites and
blacks amongst each other called systematic discrimination or as you may know it as, segregation
or Jim Crow laws. However in 1975 civil right law meaning to prevent discrimination against other
races, really didn t work out too well. It was already too late, because the Jim Crow lawswere
already put in place. How did this all happen? Well we need to go back when Jim Crow laws
were first thought of. In 1890, a group called The citizen s committee plotted a protest against an
early Jim Crow law. More specifically Louisiana s separate car law. It abided by a rule known as
equal, but separate idea. Other races could have the same rights as White people, however they had

Further pushing and restricting the laws of segregation encouraged Blacks to stand up for

American Childhood Analysis
The stories An American Childhood , by Anne Dillard and Once more to the lake by E.B. White
illustrates the author s childhood memories with description and imagery theme but have different
personal experiences and issues. An American Childhood , by Anne Dillard was about her old
neighborhood. Dillard depicts her childhood from the age of five through high school, in 1950 s
America. According to Dillard, to find the source of happiness, one must resist the world to try to
seal that character out and in Once more to the lake by E.B. White also reflects his childhood
memories with his parents and later with his son and express those certain elements of life, such as
the enjoyment of the youth, continue forever for a different generation. The main idea of the
Dillard s essay is maintaining cheerfulness and joy even in adulthood, by narrating her childhood as
a template for developing and maintaining happiness and White includes descriptions and imagery
theme from his past and present. This reflection allows the readerto imagine the memories of a son
and a father enjoying the America dream, a vacation. While both An American Childhood by Annie
Dillardand Once more to the Lake by E.B. White are descriptions and imagery sprung from the
same childhood memories, they have explored the experience of a child from a different perspective.
In Both essays, Dillard s An American Childhood and White s One more to the Lake the authors
are using descriptive and imagery pattern to share their Childhood memories, which gives the
readers the sense of freedom and joy. An American Childhood was about Dillard s old
neighborhood. She used a narrative tone in her story that described her childhood memories. As
Dillard said: Boys welcomed me at baseball, too, for I had through enthusiastic practice, what
was weirdly known as a boy s arm (pp. 141). Dillard uses a lot of description in her story. She
creates a clear image for the readers with her descriptions throughout. As Dillard indicated: We

and tight between houses to Edgerton Avenue...... (pp. 143). E.B. White s essay Once More to the

What Is The Symbolism Of Boys And Girls
Symbolism of the Munro s Boys and Girls
The short story Boys and Girls was written by Canadian writer Alice Munro in the 60s. It looks
inside the family of a fox breeder with two children: an unnamed girl and her brother Laird. The
girl is narrator of this story. The work showed a typical life of a breeder the man looked after foxes,
but treated them only a source of a good fur. The girl wanted to be closer to her father in spite of
fact she was afraid of him a little and did not know what he thought about, unlike her mother. In
this he was quite different from my mother, who... would tell me all sorts of things the name of a
dog she had had when she was a little girl [or] the names of boys she had gone out with later on
when she was grown up (Munro 3). The narrator did not want to play a standardized female role.

Sonnet 6 Analysis
Aj Giosa Mr. Foley Sonnet 6 Explication 26 November 2017 Sonnet 6 is notable for the
ingenious multiplying of conceits and especially for the concluding pun on a legal will in the
final couplet: Be not self willed, for thou art much too fair / To be death s conquest and make
worms thine heir. Here, as earlier in the sonnet, the poet juxtaposes the themes of narcissism and
death, as well as procreation. Self willed echoes line 4 s self killed, and the worms that destroy
the young man s dead body will be his only heirs should he die without begetting a child which
shows the theme of death. The whole sonnet is about trying to persuade the man to have a baby
hence the theme if procreation. And lastly, the man is being selfish in wanting to die without
passing on his beauty. The sonnet continues from sonnet 5 and is telling a young man to not let
his wintery old age destroy his summer beauty. Meaning he should have children to pass down
his good genes before he passes away along with his beauty. In the middle of the sonnet where
the volta begins at line 6, talking about giving your body to a woman will make her happy and
she will repay you with a baby. Now the real turn is having a baby or thyself breed another thee
which is line 7. In the beginning of the poem having a child was about passing on his beauty rather
than being happy. The new point is to make a new you so you keep living and conquer death. On

News Media, Athletes, And Models
Banduras social learning theory speaks to what we learn from others via observation, imitation, or

News media calls to attention current events. The information comes from real people who have
had their lives changed be it for good or bad. Though what is being shared might not be prevalent
at the time, it does call to attention one s stance to the situation and possible future handlings of it.
News media covers topics like teenage suicide, kidnappings, drive by shootings, etc. Because
such delicate topics are brought to light, it calls to attention one s surroundings and forces
reaction. The news media is a tool that relays stories but it is them who decide how to share
them. However, it is how they do so that impacts the story, which is why they must remain true to
facts to not deter from the message. When deterring occurs, lies spread and the topic isn t what it

Introduction
Traditional internal audits fulfill an important need for companies with fresh ISO 9001:2000
Quality Management System implementations, but for companies with mature systems, those
registered for more than five years, an innovative approach to auditing called Appreciative Internal
Quality Audit can take them beyond compliance to excellence. In effect, the Appreciative Audit
approach both raises the bar and adds value for the 65,000+ North American organizations that

Based on a conservative estimate by JDQ, North American companies spend more than $4.5 billion
on planning, conducting and reporting internal audits each year. This estimate is based on 2005
estimates of ISO registered companies in North America for whom internal audits are mandatory.
The estimates do not include companies that audit their business management systems on a

Love And Hate In George Orwell s 1984
Without love we tend to grow a sense of hatred within ourselves and for each other. In the novel,
1984, Big Brother is portrayed as the leader in society, symbolizing a god like figure who has total
dominance over their citizens. Therefore, the people find themselves full of hate considering their
government is controlling them. George Orwells message in 1984 claims that a society based on
hate would not survive seeing that the people would be the cause of their own destruction.
The story 1984 focuses on a man named Winston Smith, who lives in Oceania, an imaginative
country, ruled by the Party through a totalitarianism government. In their world, people are divided

novel states Not merely the love of one person, but the animal instinct , the simple

The Reasons Behind the Decline of the Mughal Empire Essay
The Mughal Empire was the first large empire in India since the Gupta Empire (nearly a
millennium years of difference); it was made up of many ethnicities, a variety of geographic
localities, and hundreds of nobles and their principalities. At its largest extent, this empire contained
over 140 million inhabitants, as well as encompassing 3.5 million square kilometers. However, as
all empires do, the Mughal Empirefaced many difficulties, and by the turn of the 19th century, had
weakened significantly. The first leader of the Mughal Empire in India was Babur, who reigned
from 1527 1530. His original territory was in Afghanistan, but had aspirations to move into the
weakened Indian subcontinent. The clincher for this move was when a noble... Show more content

This makes sense when first looked at, but the imperial overstretch argument ignores the fact that
as late as the 18th century, India was the second wealthiest society in the world. In 1526, Babur is
said to have invaded India with 12,000 cavalrymen, but by the time of Shah Jahan, the imperial
military reached 300,000 soldiers, of whom 200,000 were armed cavalrymen. The only way that
the Mughals could support so massive a military was with an equally massive military budget.
According to the economic historian Angus Maddison, India had been the largest economy in the
world until it was surpassed in size by China, circa 1500, and between 1500 and 1700, the
subcontinent still accounted for a full 25 percent of total world economic output. India was so
wealthy during this period that in 1600, government revenues reached 100 million rupees, which
was equivalent to 17.6 million pounds sterling; an amount that would not be matched by the British
imperial treasury until the mid 19th century. By 1700, the imperial budget had doubled in size, to
200 million silver rupees, and so the Mughals could finance almost constant warfare. The
administration of the Mughal economy was directly related to the war making capabilities of the
Empire. The relationship between war making and economic management was at the heart of the
patronage and ranking system that distributed economic and political

The Current Principles Of Early Year s Pedagogy And...
(Fisher 2013:5) The years from 0 7 are a period of human development with the capacity to learn.
This quote links into this assignment as it shows how important the first couple of years in a child s
life can affect them the throughout their life. It shows how important it is to have the pioneers
input into the practice and teaching of children as its important they have the best start in life to
help them develop.
In this assignment I am going to compare previous and current pioneers that have and are
influencing the current principles of early year s pedagogy. For example how they are influencing
the four principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This assignment will get me to
look at different views that theorist have to education and how they can be used in current
practice. It will provide me with the information on how they influence early year s pedagogy and
current practice. Throughout this assignment I will be referencing from current reading that I am
doing, these will range from eBooks to articles. I will be using nursery world articles to provide
information about each pioneer and what their work has done for current principles in early year s
pedagogy.
The EYFS is a framework for children up to the of five, it sets out the six key areas of learning
which activities that are planned for children should be based upon. It also sets the learning and
development requirements that practitioners must follow for children below the age of five. The

Nokia Emergence Market Strategy:
In the early 2000s Nokia planned to step into the emerging market due to the market saturation in
developed countries. Nokia estimated that they can get at least 600 potential consumer in the
country like Russia, China, and India. Nokia enjoyed the growth in sales and profits. The company
was expanding rapidly from European market to North American and developing market.
Changing Market Dynamics due to Increased Competition
In 2005 the Nokia sales in western countries of Europe and in America were largely poised at
certain point, the company was not making any profit in these regions. The North American
market creates roundabout 8% of sales for the company, Nokia was losing its grip on Europe, and
the market share was dropping in from 42% in 2004 to 38% in 2005. The only opportunity for
Nokia in this case was to develop rich market ground in developing countries.
It was not easy for Nokia to penetrate in Asian market due to the Price competition and regional

Grass Root Innovation Essay
This research aims at bridging important gaps in the way one conceptualizes the evolution of
innovations in the informal sector, by means of formally untrained minds, that have the potential
for Grass Root Innovations (GRIs). It also addresses important gaps in meeting needs of
disadvantaged communities, which formal systems like Science and Technology (S T) have not
been able to address so far, in a manner that is cost effective and affordable. While GRIs cannot
provide solutions to all problems, they can indeed provide solutions for some of them. The
conceptual basis, or the heuristics, underlying these innovations, can sometimes extend the frontiers
of science, or improve efficiency in larger mainstream technological systems, in addition to meeting
the local needs. But, incentives for developing technologies, which will have limited diffusion
because of socio ecological conditions, are difficult to institutionalize. The result being that such
niches remain unserved. However, if difficult regions, with poor market and bureaucratic
infrastructure, have to remain outside developmental impulses, then social harmony is unlikely to
be maintained. In this case, it would be difficult to attain sustainability. Effective inclusion of the...

The trigger to action can be many and each trigger might act upon a social network and/or
individuals, having appropriate motivations, differently. It is not just one factor that determines the
propensity to take action but many, and often in conjunction (Sinha, 2008). Thus, there could be
many factors explaining the reasons why certain opportunities trigger innovations in one setting but
not in others. The relationship between a social network from which support is sought, which may
also inhibit the initiatives or sharing of ideas, and the individual motivations and triggers have to be
studied in each case, so as to understand the innovation process

Medea Feminist Analysis
I know indeed what evil I intend to do,/But stronger than all my [Medea] afterthoughts is my fury,
/Fury that brings upon mortals the greatest evils (Euripides 35). In Euripides play, Medea, he shows
what happens when one is victimized permanently for something that they had done in the past, and
shows the he shows the power of revenge. Jasonis the victim in this tragic grouping of events.
Medeapunishes him, because she feels that he wronged her, even though her gruesome plans were
much more sophisticated and horrid than Jason s acts against Medea. Some may argue that Medea
would be considered the victim of Jason s wrath and terrible acts against her. They may believe that
she was always innocent, and that everything bad that happened,... Show more content on

In Medea s acts of rage, she victimizes Jason, and others around her. She was immune to the fact
that she was going to kill her children, because she was focused on getting revenge on Jason,
and making sure that he suffered. During Medea s encounter with Jason, Jason is shown slowly
crumbling beneath the pain and agony that Medea had placed upon him, by killing her children.
At this point, Jason is pleading for mercy, and begging for the children s bodies. You who have
had the heart to raise a sword against/Your children, you, their mother, and left me childless
/You have done this, and do you still look at the sun/And at the earth, after these most fearful
doings?/ I wish you were dead (Euripides 43). Jason had shown his weakness to Medea, and she
took advantage of that by slaughtering her own children, so that she would get revenge on
Jason. This placed Jason in an even more vulnerable position, because he had to live with no
family or power, because Medea ripped it all away from him in a matter of minutes. Jason s
future had been brought to an abrupt stop, and Medea was to blame. Medea became an outcast,
because she not only murdered her children, she devised a horrific plan, that called for her
children to bring death to the princess and king. Medea had affected many people negatively,
including people in her own family. In her acts of anger or under her horrific plans, Medea was
bound to hurt someone. While Jason is looking for Medea after he hears about the slaughtering of
his children, he exclaims, For your own brother you slew at your own hearthside,/ And then came
aboard that beautiful ship, the Argo./And that was your beginning... /For the sake of pleasure in
the bed you killed them./There is no Greek woman who would have dared such deeds (Euripides
43). Jason is insulting Medea for the fact

The Pros And Cons Of The Indian Removal Act Of 1830
The Indian Removal Act of 1830, championed by President Andrew Jackson, called for the
relocation of numerous native American tribes to lands west of the Mississippi River to land for
white settlers. Although the bill was extremely controversial, it was passed, and entire Indian tribes
were forced to move. Due to the hardship and suffering the Indian Removal Act of 1830 caused
Indian peoples, as well as the fact that it was unnecessary, unconstitutional, and immoral, it should
not have been passed. Firstly, the negative effects of the bill on native Americans far outweighed
the benefits it might have had for second people. Secondly, the bill violated numerous treaties
between the U.S. government and Indian tribes and was thus unconstitutional. Lastly, the bill was
immoral due to the fact that Indian leaders were not allowed a voice in their own future and the
inherent racism involved in the decision.
One of the main arguments opponents of the Indian Removal Act of 1830 voiced was that, at its
most basic level, the removal bill was not necessary. The main purpose of the act was to provide
more land for an increasing population of white American citizens; more land, the government
believed, would help expand the American economy. Proponents of the bill, such as President
Andrew Jackson (who ratified the act), claimed that the land occupied by the Indians would be put
to better use as part of our extensive Republic, studded with cities, towns, and all the improvements
which art can devise... . However, while those who supported the bill used nationalistic attitudes to
justify their position, others found that removing the Indian peoples was not necessary to achieve
economic growth. As Massachusetts Congressman Edward Everett and others emphasized, it was
possible for white settlers to thrive while leaving Cherokee peoples on the land that was rightfully
theirs; it was greed, not necessity, that motivated the people to demand more land. The removal bill
should not have been passed because although the white population benefitted from the removal of
the Indians, this benefit was not worth the hardship the Indians endured as a result. The benefit of
white citizens should not have been prioritized over the well being

If the company is subject to stringent regulation by federal, state and local governments, which

Then, Comcast s businesses, including Cable and NBCUniversal s businesses are required to
comply to the regulation by federal, state, local and foreign authorities under applicable laws and
regulations, and under agreements it enters into with franchising authorities.
The Communications Act of 1934, as amended (the Communications Act ), and Federal

video services customer rates, carriage of broadcast television stations, broadcast programming
content and advertising, package of programming to customers and other providers, access to cable
system channels by franchising authorities and other parties, the use of utility poles and conduits,
and the offering of high speed internet and phone services (Marketline, 2013). Failure of Comcast s
businesses to comply with the laws and regulations may result in administrative enforcement
actions, fines and civil and criminal liability. In as much that laws, policies and regulations are
much stricter in the U.S. this would present significant risks to the company s businesses which

Mask Of Madness In Hamlet Research Paper
William Shakespeare is known for creating characters that look like the innocent flower, / But [are]
the serpent under t. (Shakespeare) Hamlet exemplifies Shakespeare s most notable alternate
character personality. In Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Hamlet dons the mask of madness to
manipulate others, specifically Polonius, Claudius, and Ophelia.
Firstly, Hamlet dons the mask of madness to manipulate Polonius. Though the characters see
Hamlet as mad, he is actually very sane throughout the play. When Polonius asks Hamlet what he
is reading, Hamlet s responding of Words, words, words. (Shakespeare II.ii.193) demonstrates that
Hamlet is thinking straight. Furthermore, when asked what the matter is, his answering of
Between who? (II.ii.195) proves that he is deliberately witty. The players scene also illustrates just
how sane Hamlet is. Asking the players to play the Murder of Gonzago (II.ii.536 7) demonstrates
Hamlet s ability to seize the opportunity to expose Claudius s guilt. Hamlet s ... Show more content

and Ophelia will have no more marriage; (III.i.149), effectively ending his relationship. Hamlet is
not legitimately mad however, as he is quickly able to realize that Ophelia has been sent to set
him up. He realizes that others must be watching, and so he does his best to persuade Claudius and
Polonius of his madness. Hamlet s sanity is also shown by his ability to actually protect Ophelia
and at the same time convince the eavesdroppers of his madness. Hamlet s madness allows him to
expertly manipulate Ophelia by trying to get her to safety, without letting on that his madness is

The Common Misconception Of The Scientific Community
The common misconception in the scientific community is that there is only one way to get things
into space a combustion powered rocket. However, recently there have been talks and designs
floating around about other methods to travel to space. Currently the technology and tools existing
regarding space are seen as revolutionary and ahead of our time. However the possibility for even
more advanced and efficient technology is within the grasp of humanity. We first launched a rocket
to get to the moon in 1969, and since then the design for space rockets has varied slightly. The
use of space shuttles was first introduced in 1981, and since then almost no changes have been
made for space travel. In our world if you are not progressing, you are falling behind. We have
been using dangerous and unreliable rockets for 47 years now. The recent explosion that occurred
for the company SpaceX has highlighted our case and point. The current way to get into space is
not only unreliable and dangerous, but it is also highly inefficient and expensive. The main focus in
recent years is launching things into geostationary orbits, or orbits that stay in the same spot
relative to the Earth. The cost to launch a rocket into a geostationary orbit is currently around
20,000 dollars per kilogram, which is an outrageous amount of money (http://www.extremetech.com

High School Pressure
The Pressure of High School High school is basically one big popularity contest, and the students
will do anything it takes to be the winner. Everyone wants the most friends and to be at the best
parties, at any cost. The students are young and experiencing new things, and that makes them very
naГЇve and impressionable. Peer pressure is a very common aspect that students give in to just to
be a cool kid. Peer pressure can push people into doing things that they wouldn t normally do. I
was sixteen years old going into my sophomore year of high schoolat a new school. I had no idea
what to expect, other than I knew I needed to make friends quickly to avoid digging myself a
social grave. As days past, I found myself hanging out with two girls, Kayla and Lexi, who were
in a couple of my classes. They showed me the ins and outs and told me all about the current
high school drama, so I would feel like I was in the loop. The three of us grew close within the
next few weeks, we would hang out almost every day and eventually we planned our very first
sleepover together at Kayla s house. I was expecting to do the normal sleepover activities like,
making cookies, watching movies, and talking about all the latest gossip. What I was expecting
was not what happened. One Friday night, Kayla, Lexi, and I, were in the living room when
Kayla s mother came to tell us that she was going to sleep. As soon as she had left, Kayla and

  • 2. State Vs Crone Case Study Extortion Extortion is often a term heard when we think of the Mafia and their criminal activities; more specifically, the Mafia s use of intimidation to force businesses to pay for protection. However, extortion is not always used for monetary gain. In the following case, State v. Crone the issue of extortion is examined. Under Iowa Code section 711.4 portions of extortion are defined as being a person that does any of the following with the purpose of obtaining for oneself or another anything of value, tangible or intangible, including labor or services as well as threatening to expose any person to hatred, contempt, or ridicule ( Iowa Code 711 , n.d.). State v. Crone, 545 N.W. 2d 267 (Iowa 1996) On September 26, 1989, parties Forman and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After running away to Idaho, Crone in 1994 returned to Iowa to face charges of extortion and sexual abuse in the third degree. Crone was found guilty after trial of extortion and assault with the intent to commit sexual abuse. As a result of Crone s conviction he was sentenced to two (2) terms, five (5) years for extortion and two (2) years for the assault that was to run consecutively. Crone decided to appeal only his conviction for extortion and the sentence given. Crone appealed on the grounds that extortion based on two elements were unfounded and ineffective counsel (Brody Acker, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Tokyo Financial Accounting Concerns 1. Tokyo AFM recognized premium revenue at the time it received the policyholder s up front cash payment. The company s accountants argued that since the level of up front payments received from policyholders had been stable over the last few years, this method was an appropriate reflection of economic reality. For example, Fuji Computers entered into a five year insurance contract with Tokyo AFM against earthquake damage to its headquarters building. As is customary, it paid the 100 million premiums for the five year coverage up front in cash. Question: How would you recognize revenues associated with this type of catastrophe insurance contract? Only advertising costs that are direct response advertising can be capitalized. Direct response advertising is advertising for which the primary purpose is to stimulate sales to customers or potential customers that have specifically responded to the advertising and it results in probable future benefits. Hence $20,000 cost of marketing efforts incurred over the past six months to promote Home Umbrella which is direct response advertising cost should be capitalized and amortized over the period of contract. 3. Broadly speaking, two major types of insured events could give rise to losses covered by insurance contracts: * Events that actuarial analysis could assess and predict with a high level of accuracy across a large number of contracts (for example, events covered by automobile insurance). * Catastrophes, which were generally adverse natural events such as earthquakes and hurricanes, but which could also be human induced events such as terrorist attacks. Catastrophes were considered low probability high consequence events. They were uncertain and very difficult to predict in terms of timing and extent of damage. For the coming year, the company had estimated that expected losses across all its automobile insurance contracts would amount to 70% of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Comparing The Seneca Falls Convention And The Declaration... Throughout history, courageous people have stood up and worked hard to bring people together and make change. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott are the two women who were brave enough to stand up in front of the crowd and fight for what they believed in. By holding the Seneca Falls Convention and drafting the Declaration of Sentiments they highlighted the issues that needed to change. This is recognized as the beginning of the women s rights movement. The early 19th century in the United States was a period of many social upheavals and reforms including women s rights. The women s rights movement in the United States began with a convention held at the Wesleyan Church chapel located in Seneca Falls, New York, which became known as the Seneca Falls Convention. Approximately 200 people, men and women, attended; many of them were already activists in various movements. During the convention the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions was created and presented. This document defined the rights that both men and women should have. This eventually led to women s right to vote, own property and have independent lives. • 5. Gender Labeling Research Paper Throughout history, some babies have always been born with ambiguous genitalia, partially formed sex organs, micro organs, or organs of both sexes. This was either due to deviations in the anatomical development of the fetus and because of exposure during fetal gestation to hormones and chemicals. To describe such people, sexologists have gradually begun to use the more neutral term intersex children or children with developmental sex disorders. However, various ethical issues come in light as these children grow into adults or when physicians assign a gender to babies following the traditional view of gender labeling means a happy adjustment in school, in the family, and in society. Intersex and transsexual labeling especially create problems in sports where athletes must compete with as female or male. Transgender differs from intersex such that transgender people feel they live in a body of the wrong gender hence seeking hormone therapy while intersex have abnormal sex organs. Both kinds of people want the right to choose their gender and may seek hormones and surgery to do so. One such example is an ophthalmologist Richard Raskind who underwent surgery to become Rene Richards and competed on the professional women s tennis circuit creating a huge controversy. Another example is of South African runner Caster Semenya,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Narcissism In The Peter In addition to the fact that Peter could not enjoy domestic happiness, he is also unable to form lasting, loving relationships with any human being. This could be explained by Peter s heartlessness that is attached to forgetfulness and narcissism. Firstly, his narcissism lies in the fact that he does not truly care about anyone except himself. Consequently, Peter never noticed how short Wendy s dress become at the end of the first year because he had so much about himself and even when he came again after many years he at first didn t notice a difference, for he was thinking chiefly of himself . Secondly, it is a known fact that memories have a very strong impact on life in general; they are a powerful source of emotions, also remembering... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I personally think that writer wanted to emphasis the importance of growing up but at the same time remain a little child inside and it is totally different from just remaining a child and rejecting the adulthood as Peter does. For example, there was very childish deed when James Hook was doomed to death and invited Peter with a gesture to use his foot . Even though Capitan was dying he was calm and almost happy because of Peter s bad forms . Likewise, Mr. Darling, as the writer pointed out, might have passed for a boy again if he had been able to take his baldness off . Also, the fact that he ceased to be sensitive to the opinion of neighbours , nearly lived in the kennel as well as medicine accident displayed his childish behaviour. However, exactly this situation made him feel gratifying and he became sweeter . Lastly, Wendy herself is a direct proof that there is nothing terrible adulthood, conversely she was one of the kind that likes to grow up . Although something inside her was crying Woman, woman, let go of me , it was just a quick impulse, as a matter of fact, she was simply nostalgic about dear old days why (shy) could fly . All these cases illustrate that it is no necessity in perpetual youth because adults could be also happy if there is a child living in their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Class Differences In Education Since 1918 How have class and gender affected educational experiences since 1918, and has this changed over time? In 1917, during a speech at Newcastle, English historian, educator and politician H. A. L. Fisher argued that Education was an important tool in creating a harmonious and equitable society; a society free from class preconceptions and bias. Fisher stated, Education dispels the hideous clouds of class suspicion and softens the asperities of faction (cited in Simon, 1965, p. 344). In the same year, members of the Workers Educational Association (WEA) made a statement declaring their wish to eliminate inequalities within higher education, stating that they are united in the desire to bring within reach [...] the Higher Education which has hitherto been too much the privilege of the few (Reported in The Highway, February 1917, cited in Simon, 1965, p. 329). Yet, for the next fifty years, the class division, factions and inequalities noted in 1917 by Fisher and the WEA would continue to permeate the English education system, with social class and gender continuing to shape educational experiences. • 13. Samuel Becket s Waiting On Godot In the times leading up to, during, and after World War I the world changed. As a reflection of that change writers began experimenting with perspective, time and order, form, etc. Literature wasn t as straightforward; there were metaphors within metaphors, stories without clear beginnings middles and ends, poets used mixed meters and free verse became common becoming what is known as the modernist era. Around World War II the same thing happened again, but taken to the extreme. This was known as the postmodern era and writers began to use their works to convey their sense of how strange the world around them was. The works that will be discussed are Samuel Becket s Waiting on Godot, a play about two friends who wait for the titular Godot over two day with the second questioning the existence of the first. House of Leaves, by Mark Danielewski, is a cult classic about man trying to understand a manuscript about a movie about a family who moves into a house that s bigger on the inside the the outside, this novel is special because of how it s printed, and it s use of multiple narrators, and the final piece, Infinite Jest, by David Foster Wallace, is a bafflingly complex piece with four major interwoven narratives and nearly a hundred pages of footnotes, some of which have footnotes within themselves. • 14. Bill Of Rights Free Speech and the Internet Several years after the end of the American Revolution the United States Constitution was being drafted by some of the nations most important historical figures. Politicians such as Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, and George Washington were just three of the thirty nine who eventually signed the Constitution on September 17, 1787 ( United States Constitution, 2015, 1787 Drafting, para. 7). With the birth of the constitution, came the fear that our newly created nation might slip back under control of a monarchy once again. Therefore, on June 8, 1789, in order to combat such a situation, a group of anti federalists headed by James Madison proposed a series of thirty nine amendments to be added to the Constitution. These amendments were designed to guarantee a number of personal freedoms, limit the government s power in judicial and other proceedings, and reserve some powers to the states and the public ( United States Bill of Rights, 2015, Introduction, para. 1). The first ten of the new amendments, arguably the most important of the thirty nine, were thus labeled the Bill of Rights. Amendments in the Bill of Rights protect freedoms such as the right to bear arms, protection from unreasonable search and seizure, right to due process, right to trail by jury, protection from quartering troops, and finally the First Amendment, the right to freedom of speech, press, religion, peaceable assembly, and to petition the government ( United States ... According to Mrs. Young (2017), the rainbow can be displayed in the form of a sticker, tattoo, or flags (Young, personal communications, June 26, 2017). There is also a symbol of the LGBTQ community that is not as commonly known. Per Mrs. Young (2017), there is a yellow equal symbol with a blue background (Young, personal communications, June 26, 2017). I have seen this symbol becoming popular as a bumper sticker on automobiles. Mrs. Young (2017) also talked about the sexual symbols such as two women and two men, as well as the puns. The puns can include Gaydar and Born this way slogans (Young, personal communications, June 26, 2017). With artifacts being expressed openly other members of the subculture are aware of the shared subculture of which they are a part of. When members of the subculture find out about a new member it does not make them instant friends. According to Mrs. Young (2017), many people that are not a part of the subculture make the huge misconception that everyone that is in the subculture knows one another. Furthermore, those that are a part of the subculture make friends the same way as those outside of the subculture. Just because another person is LGBTQ does not make them instant friends (Young, personal communications, June 26, 2017). The LGBTQ is an increasingly known subculture. The members of the subculture not only have their own functions, but they also make an impact in our Colorado community. I have noticed the impact of the subculture becoming well known and is still on the rise of recognition. There are bars, parades, community gatherings, and even restaurants that are available to the public for those involved in LGBTQ. According to the Hamburger Mary s website (2017), Hamburger Mary s is a restaurant that is open to the LGBTQ community and the public. This is currently a Local restaurant located in Denver, Colorado, as well as, sixteen other locations in the United States (Hamburger Mary s, 2017). Senate Bill 14, which requires proof of Identification; providing criminal penalties and Senate Bill 5, which requires a voter to present proof of ID; providing a criminal penalty and increasing a criminal penalty are the two bills being questioned at the time. Senate bill 5 was the revised version of SB 14, which was put into place so that voters with no photo ID could sign a declaration and still cast their vote. I have attended many weddings; on the other hand, this was completely different than the standard wedding I imagined. The setting of the church, the discipline the Catholics have with their religion, and the weddingceremony was nothing I imagined when being invited to this wedding. September 23 has always been a day I marked on my calendar every year. This was my wife s and I anniversary; however, this year I had it marked down for a different event. This was the day a friend from my previous work was getting married. We discussed his Catholicbelief a few times at work; consequently, when it was time for lent. As a result, I would pick on him for eating meat when he was not aloud, but that was all I really knew about the religion. The night before the big day I called him, because not knowing much about the Catholic wedding, I did not know what to wear. I did not know if I had to wear a suit or if I could wear khakis and a polo shirt. So, he told me khakis would work with a nice dress shirt. When Saturday came, I did not know I would feel confused or fell as out of place as I did. However, on the way to the church I figured this would be the typical wedding, where they would say their vows and the preacher would say you may kiss the bride , then I could make it home to watch the end of the buckeye s game. The reason chapter one is my favorite is because she reminds me a lot of myself. Luma wants to part from her parents and stay in the United States of America. Her choice came with the consequences of her parents and sister not communicating with her again if she chooses to stay in the US. Her grandma would still communicate about the family until she passes away in a later chapter. Another example of why this is my favorite is because I can relate to tons of it. My dad no longer talks to me due to me moving out at too young of an age. I moved to the city to be closer to work and school but in his eyes I was sinning. This is also why I think I relate most to Luma. There are other reasons why I think that I relate to Luma. Throughout the whole book, Luma never wants to give up. For example in chapter nine, Get Lost , when Luma knows she has to find a new field for her fugeesto play on. According to St John, on page 93, the YMCA calls and lets Luma know they found a field for her. She never gave up on her high hopes. Luma always wanted the best for her players. I am just like Luma, as I never give up on things. My number one struggle I never give up on is my exercise. Luma has a great strength in her hopes. Sonnet 6 Analysis Aj Giosa Mr. Foley Sonnet 6 Explication 26 November 2017 Sonnet 6 is notable for the ingenious multiplying of conceits and especially for the concluding pun on a legal will in the final couplet: Be not self willed, for thou art much too fair / To be death s conquest and make worms thine heir. Here, as earlier in the sonnet, the poet juxtaposes the themes of narcissism and death, as well as procreation. Self willed echoes line 4 s self killed, and the worms that destroy the young man s dead body will be his only heirs should he die without begetting a child which shows the theme of death. The whole sonnet is about trying to persuade the man to have a baby hence the theme if procreation. And lastly, the man is being selfish in wanting to die without passing on his beauty. The sonnet continues from sonnet 5 and is telling a young man to not let his wintery old age destroy his summer beauty. Meaning he should have children to pass down his good genes before he passes away along with his beauty. In the middle of the sonnet where the volta begins at line 6, talking about giving your body to a woman will make her happy and she will repay you with a baby. Now the real turn is having a baby or thyself breed another thee which is line 7. In the beginning of the poem having a child was about passing on his beauty rather than being happy. Vancouver, BC, Canada Introduction Traditional internal audits fulfill an important need for companies with fresh ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System implementations, but for companies with mature systems, those registered for more than five years, an innovative approach to auditing called Appreciative Internal Quality Audit can take them beyond compliance to excellence. In the novel, 1984, Big Brother is portrayed as the leader in society, symbolizing a god like figure who has total dominance over their citizens. Therefore, the people find themselves full of hate considering their government is controlling them. George Orwells message in 1984 claims that a society based on hate would not survive seeing that the people would be the cause of their own destruction. In doing so, they manage to place telescreens in every house, street, and public place which is a security camera to prevent anyone from committing an act of rebellion towards Big Brother. In addition, there is no friendship and people are forced into serving Big Brother by a selective job. • 41. The Reasons Behind the Decline of the Mughal Empire Essay The Mughal Empire was the first large empire in India since the Gupta Empire (nearly a millennium years of difference); it was made up of many ethnicities, a variety of geographic localities, and hundreds of nobles and their principalities. At its largest extent, this empire contained over 140 million inhabitants, as well as encompassing 3.5 million square kilometers. However, as all empires do, the Mughal Empirefaced many difficulties, and by the turn of the 19th century, had weakened significantly. The first leader of the Mughal Empire in India was Babur, who reigned from 1527 1530. His original territory was in Afghanistan, but had aspirations to move into the weakened Indian subcontinent. The clincher for this move was when a noble... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This makes sense when first looked at, but the imperial overstretch argument ignores the fact that as late as the 18th century, India was the second wealthiest society in the world. In 1526, Babur is said to have invaded India with 12,000 cavalrymen, but by the time of Shah Jahan, the imperial military reached 300,000 soldiers, of whom 200,000 were armed cavalrymen. The only way that the Mughals could support so massive a military was with an equally massive military budget. According to the economic historian Angus Maddison, India had been the largest economy in the world until it was surpassed in size by China, circa 1500, and between 1500 and 1700, the subcontinent still accounted for a full 25 percent of total world economic output. India was so wealthy during this period that in 1600, government revenues reached 100 million rupees, which was equivalent to 17.6 million pounds sterling; an amount that would not be matched by the British imperial treasury until the mid 19th century. By 1700, the imperial budget had doubled in size, to 200 million silver rupees, and so the Mughals could finance almost constant warfare. The administration of the Mughal economy was directly related to the war making capabilities of the Empire. Grass Root Innovation Essay This research aims at bridging important gaps in the way one conceptualizes the evolution of innovations in the informal sector, by means of formally untrained minds, that have the potential for Grass Root Innovations (GRIs). It also addresses important gaps in meeting needs of disadvantaged communities, which formal systems like Science and Technology (S T) have not been able to address so far, in a manner that is cost effective and affordable. While GRIs cannot provide solutions to all problems, they can indeed provide solutions for some of them. The conceptual basis, or the heuristics, underlying these innovations, can sometimes extend the frontiers of science, or improve efficiency in larger mainstream technological systems, in addition to meeting the local needs. But, incentives for developing technologies, which will have limited diffusion because of socio ecological conditions, are difficult to institutionalize. She was immune to the fact that she was going to kill her children, because she was focused on getting revenge on Jason, and making sure that he suffered. During Medea s encounter with Jason, Jason is shown slowly crumbling beneath the pain and agony that Medea had placed upon him, by killing her children. At this point, Jason is pleading for mercy, and begging for the children s bodies. You who have had the heart to raise a sword against/Your children, you, their mother, and left me childless /You have done this, and do you still look at the sun/And at the earth, after these most fearful doings?/ I wish you were dead (Euripides 43). Jason had shown his weakness to Medea, and she took advantage of that by slaughtering her own children, so that she would get revenge on Jason. This placed Jason in an even more vulnerable position, because he had to live with no family or power, because Medea ripped it all away from him in a matter of minutes. • 47. The Pros And Cons Of The Indian Removal Act Of 1830 The Indian Removal Act of 1830, championed by President Andrew Jackson, called for the relocation of numerous native American tribes to lands west of the Mississippi River to land for white settlers. Although the bill was extremely controversial, it was passed, and entire Indian tribes were forced to move. Due to the hardship and suffering the Indian Removal Act of 1830 caused Indian peoples, as well as the fact that it was unnecessary, unconstitutional, and immoral, it should not have been passed. Firstly, the negative effects of the bill on native Americans far outweighed the benefits it might have had for second people. Secondly, the bill violated numerous treaties between the U.S. government and Indian tribes and was thus unconstitutional. Lastly, the bill was immoral due to the fact that Indian leaders were not allowed a voice in their own future and the inherent racism involved in the decision. One of the main arguments opponents of the Indian Removal Act of 1830 voiced was that, at its most basic level, the removal bill was not necessary. The main purpose of the act was to provide more land for an increasing population of white American citizens; more land, the government believed, would help expand the American economy. Proponents of the bill, such as President Andrew Jackson (who ratified the act), claimed that the land occupied by the Indians would be put to better use as part of our extensive Republic, studded with cities, towns, and all the improvements which art can devise... . However, while those who supported the bill used nationalistic attitudes to justify their position, others found that removing the Indian peoples was not necessary to achieve economic growth. As Massachusetts Congressman Edward Everett and others emphasized, it was possible for white settlers to thrive while leaving Cherokee peoples on the land that was rightfully theirs; it was greed, not necessity, that motivated the people to demand more land. The removal bill should not have been passed because although the white population benefitted from the removal of the Indians, this benefit was not worth the hardship the Indians endured as a result.
