How Do Recreational Drugs Affect People
Psychology Drugs Project 2017 Script
Today I am going to present a poster that I made on recreational drugs which includes examples of
drugs and their physiological and psychological effect on people. Firstly, I want to define the term
recreational drugs .
Recreational drugs refer to chemical substances that can cause changes to your mind. This is a
psychoactive drug that affect people psychologically by changing their sensory perception, moods,
thinking and behaviour. Recreational drugs can cause changes in mind because they are literally
impacting the functions of neurotransmitters. These chemical substances are not used for medical
reasons, instead they are used for leisurely purposes. Recreational drugs are divided into three groups
which are stimulants, depressants, and hallucinogens.
Firstly, stimulants are also known as the uppers , this drug temporally increase the alertness and
energy of the body so it can work faster. The second type of the recreational drug is depressants.
Depressants are also known as the downers . This calms the activity of the nervous system and slow

Caffeine is found in tea and coffee. The physiological effect of caffeine increased heart rate. Caffeine
excites the receptors within your heart to work faster by blocking the enzyme phosphodiesterace.
Heart rate is kept normal by these phosphodiesterace. Once phosphodiesterace is blocked, there is no
longer effective and your heart rate increases. The psychological effect of caffeine is increased
alertness. It helps you to feel more awake and less tired, so it is used for medication to treat
drowsiness. Caffeine s psychological effect is that caffeine mimics the neurochemical called
adenosine. Caffeine mimics the shape, size of the adenosine and enters the receptor without
stimulating them. Then caffeine blocks the receptors and allows the other stimulants such as dopamine
and glutamate to work freely while the caffeine holds the

Ignorance In Elie Wiesel s Night
Night by Elie Wiesel is written in remembrance of the Jewish people and to remember the crimes
where not only inflicted upon the Jews, but their religion, culture, and tradition (Wiesel). Night is a
novel consisting of several themes. One of the major theme statements is risks of ignorance. Elie
Wiesel shows the theme of risks of ignorance by the literary devices of ellipses, foreshadowing, and
characterization.
To begin with, ellipses are shown several times through the course of the story relating back to the
theme of ignorance. Ellipses is a pause in thought that is understandable using context. Wiesel uses
ellipsis when the Jews had to follow multiple edits; first the Jews were prohibited from leaving their
residences under the penalty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Characterization is the description both physically and mentally of a character. Wiesel worked in the
dead of winter when his foot began to swell from the frigid temperatures. He then was transported to
the infirmary where they put him in bed with sheets, which came as a surprise to Wiesel. He described
....the infirmary [as] not bad at all: we were entitled to good bread, a thicker soup. No more bell, no
more roll call, no more work and was able to send food to his father on a rare occasion (Wiesel 78).
The author uses characterization when Eliezer transitions from working in subfreezing temperatures in
the middle of winter to staying in the infirmary where they treat his leg. Characterization gives the
reader s ways in which the character changes in a novel or remains constant. This section shows how
Eliezer views and ideals have changed. Eliezer has drastically lowered his expectations, which is
shown by the thought of sheets on his bed lightening his mood. Before being sent to Auschwitz such a
minuscule thing would not have dramatically changed his day. Eliezer who is skeletally thin becomes
alighted to be fed a thicker soup. This character has drastically changed due to the undeniably horrific
things Eliezer and the other Jews have been put through. Characterization is shown once again when
Wiesel and his father arrive at Appelplatz. Eliezer s father moans about being unable to keep on living
and continues to struggle between life and death. Once the alarm sounds the prisoners are sent to the
blocks where Eliezer sleeps, forgetting his father. Wiesel denied his responsibilities despite [him
knowing his father] was running out of strength, close to death, and yet [he] abandoned [his father]
(Wiesel 106). His father, close to death, has become weak, frightened, and vulnerable and becomes a
burden to Wiesel. The author uses characterization when

The Positive Effects Of Fashion On Your Life
For my blog post, I am going to be discussing the positive effects fashion can have on your life. My
intended audience will be high school and college students that want to make their daily lives easier
and have somewhat of an interest in fashion. I start off my blog post by asking the readers a question
and making a statement that they would not think is true. After that, I go into my specifies where I talk
about the three main aspects of my statement, fitting in, authority, and comfort. Each of these topics
have their own claims which I use research to back up. I also would include photos which basically
gives you a visual example of each of my points. In my opinion, the most important part of my post
might have to be the evidence I provide backing up these sources. Some of the evidence, for example
the one where it mentions how dressing better helps you land a job can be crucial especially to my
audience. I provide them with things that they can personally relate to and I believe it will help me
reach out to them better. Furthermore, the use of images can provide a visual example and which my
audience might find useful because it portrays what happens when you follow the tips.
Look Good Feel Better Why should you care about the way you dress ? It is just clothing right, it can t
really make a difference. People view fashion as this superficial thing that has no effect on you besides
protecting your skin. Well, fashion does play a huge role in our lives

The Clay Marble By Minfong Ho
Written by Minfong Ho, The Clay Marble introduces a relatively new topic to today s teenagers the
lives of Cambodia during wartime in the 1970s. In 154 pages and eighteen chapters, The Clay Marble
follows the life of the protagonist, Dara, a twelve year old Cambodian girl, seeking a home for the
remnants of family during Cambodian s civil war. The novel is historical fiction, presenting the story
of Dara in her own first person perspective.
Summary
With a war going on between the Khmer Rouge and Vietnamese government, the supposedly safest
and richest (with food/supply) and populated place was Nong Chan, a refugee camp on the Thailand
border. That was the destination of Dara, her mother, and her brother, Sarun coming from a village

At first, Dara heavily relied on Jantu s magic clay marble, needing its magic, its luck, and a lot more
values that are not muscles. Back then, it was reasonable Dara didn t make anything back then,
because back then, Dara only had remnants of confidence in herself. As the novel goes on, Dara learns
to become more and more confident within herself.
The Clay Marble, although short and sweet, introduced me to Asian life in Cambodia during its civil
war. In chapter seven of the book, I could make a connection between the Cherokee s Trail of Tears
and the long grueling walk the many refugee families had to take to reach safety. The Cherokees were
walking away from the harsh greedy whites, while the refugees were walking away from the nearing
fighting of the civil war.
I really appreciate Dara and Jantu s view on life. In the novel, when Dara was persuading Sarun to quit
being a soldier at the end, she made wonderful arguments. The most memorable argument was when
Dara said that it took more courage to stay peaceful in their own village, rather than to fight in war,
which was nothing else than a game of destroying and breaking. I never thought of bravery that kind
of way, and I am glad Minfong Ho introduced me to this new concept through her

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is an accumulation of marine debris in the North Pacific Ocean.
Marine debris is trash that culminates up in oceans, seas, and other sizable voluminous bodies of
dihydrogen monoxide. Its also known as the Eastern Pacific Garbage Patch and the Pacific Trash
Vortex. It s located in a high pressure area between the U.S. states of Hawaii and California. This area
is in the middle of the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre. For many people, the conception of a garbage
patch displays images of an island of trash floating on the ocean. In reality, these patches are
conventionally composed of tiny bits of plastic, called microplastics. Microplastics that make up the
majority of garbage patches can t always be visible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article, The World s Largest Dump: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch , it mentioned that the
UNEP indicates that today 80% of all marine debris that washes ashore such as trash and toxic matter
originally comes from shore based activities such as fun parties at the beaches and picnics. For
example the cups that gets blown off the beach in San fransicso then it finds its way to the patch. The
inland, rivers and streams carry trash to the sea. Marah Hardt who is fellow from the Blue Ocean

because they can t see it. They think its far out there while their waste, garbage disposals, drainpipes,

how the oceans become pulleted. There is another example of garbage patch that actually exist for

of its size and the fact that it lies closest to the biggest trash on the planet, the United States. Plastic

Rhetorical Analysis Of Defending Free Speech On College...
Free speech on college campuses has been a widely debated topic in recent years. Because of this, the
opinions held on this subject vary. In the editorial, Defending Free Speech on College Campuses , the
Editorial Board of the Chicago Tribune defends the idea of education and free speech. The Editorial
Board states that students today are not receiving as useful of an education because of the barriers put
on free speech. In addition, they argue that in not allowing students to feel uncomfortable, they are not
receiving a true education. [A little more summary here would be helpful how does the author support
these claims?] The editorial, Defending Free Speech on College Campuses, introduces a valid logical
argument on education through describing instances in which students experience uncomfortable
learning situations, and the ways in which they were handled. [Hannah, your reasons here are about
content, not about rhetoric what rhetorical reasons is the argument strong?]
The true substance of this editorial comes from the authors use of logical appeals and its relatability to
students. [These are two different ideas which is going to make your paragraph rather jumbled. How
could you reorganize to make sure each paragraph is focused on a single unified idea?] The author
argues the importance in not going so far in protecting undergraduates (n.p.) from controversial or
touchy subjects. A substantial part of education consists of understanding your opinion, as well as, the

Zelda Ocarina Of Time Research Paper
The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time was released in the November of 1998. Upon its release it was
widely acclaimed from critics to players. It s rare for a game for its age to still be in talks today
decades later. On Metacritic it s in the top 3 highest rated games of all time. It s a game every 90 s kids
remember and have played. No one expected for Ocarina of Time to split the Zelda timeline into 3 and
leave the games into a whole new disaster. There are spoilers ahead for the Ocarina of Time, so be
warned. Here is an explanation of the 3 Zelda timelines and where the games fit in them. The first
timeline is known as the child era or the hero s descent era. In this era at the end of Ocarina of Time,

all have the same plot, being that Link must stop Ganon again to save the world. This timeline is the
most questionable because it s hard to see Link fail and lead a depressing timeline. I feel it s a good
place to put up the old Zelda games and make sure they have a place instead of altering them. That s

Eu vs Nafta
Abstract
The paper addresses important concerns of the European Union and the NAFTA, NAFTA s functional
structure. A brief introduction if NAFTA and EU confront one another.
Executive Summary
Some would doubt that the formation of NAFTA was the American response to the European Single
Act that formed the EU, which is made up of 27 countries. There is nothing to gain for both the blocs.
However in some areas, peaceful co existence and some form of stricter ties between the EU and
NAFTA would prove to be beneficial for both.
Introduction
The NAFTA and the European Union comprising of 27 countries comprise the biggest blocs in the
world. The two trade blocs are also highly interdependent through foreign direct investment. In 2007,

.
The NAFTA: A Regional agreement without institutions
NAFTA represents a market of 379 million people with $6.5 trillion in production. The drive behind
NAFTA was the establishment of a free trade area. Despite being a trilateral, it aimed at increasing
international trade through the elimination of trade barriers. NAFTA could become more competitive
in the world economy.
The primary purpose of NAFTA is to assist the North American region in becoming more
economically competitive with the rest of the world. It consists of US, Canada and Mexico. They set
the rules regarding trade, investment and the provision of services. Despite the fact that free trade
provides benefits, removing a trade barrier could cause damages to the shareholders and employees of
the industry. The groups that get affected by foreign competition use politics to get protection from
imports.
E.g. According to the U.S. International Trade Commission, US gaining from removing trade
restrictions on textiles and apparel would have been nearly $12 billion in 2002.
The EU has become more economically integrated by becoming a common market. This removes
barriers to production, like capital and labor.

gap between the amount of water supplied and its demand. Therefore, the study focuses on the factors

The Middle Pecos Groundwater Conservation District
water edited
corey paul to Mary, me
50 minutes agoDetails
The Middle Pecos Groundwater Conservation District will set a hearing for the company seeking a
new water supply for Odessa as soon as this month, while a public battle over the proposal continues.
Winning the hearing doesn t mean Republic Water Company of Texas will win approval to export the
water. Board members, for example, could dismiss the application as another version of a request the
board already denied, prompting another lawsuit. But City of Odessa and company officials say they
view it as a step closer to winning an export permit for what they describe as a long term and higher
quality water supply even if it might end up costing more.
The district will have to hold the hearing by the end of the year after determining the application
complete.
Meanwhile, company officials say they still plan to request a hearing before an administrative law
judge instead of the district board. The judge s decision would be non binding but could be used in a
lawsuit if the board acted against his or her findings.
It s always been our intention because of the emotional nature of this topic in that county that
everyone would be better served if you take it out of the hands of this district and have a (State Office
of Administrative Hearings) judge view it without this lens, said Jimmy Perkins, a principal with
Republic Water Company.

Ralph Waldo Ellison was born in Oklahoma City, on March 1, 1913 (Rampersad 5) and died in New

his youth, studying at public schools and suffered through the effects of institutionalized racism. After
receiving a scholarship to the Tuskegee Institute, an all black college, Ellison focused on music, his
early passion and love, between 1933 and 1936 he specialized in trumpet. However, after meeting
with Richard Wright, an openly associate with the communist party who was also a writer, in New

Characters In The Film Gladiator
Hollywood has been making historical films for ages, trying to succeed in a film where no one can
complain about historical accuracies. Unfortunately in the 200 film Gladiator director Ridley Scott did
not succeed. The film Gladiator may have had some accurate points but for the most part was not
faithful to Roman history. With the poor representations of Marcus Aurelius, Commodus and creating
an entirely new character as well as how the gladiatorial events in the movie didn t fully show how
intricate and important gladiators really were. Finally the movie didn t showcase the proper attire and
armour that real gladiators would wear.
In a historical film it is important to get the portrayal of significant people done well. In the film
Gladiator the three main characters where not portrayed correctly Maximus, Marcus and Commodus.
In the film Marcus Aurelius was shown to be a cold father to his son. He was someone who wanted to
rebuild the republic and change Rome back into a democracy and take it out of a dictatorship. This
shows inaccuracies because Marcus Aurelius was a man that had raised his to be the next emperor of
Rome. He made sure his son was on the battlefield and understood the ways of the senate so he would
be prepared to take over when it was time. ( Marcus Aurelius. Ancient History Encyclopedia) Marcus
Aurelius also never had any intention of make Rome and Republic again, no emperor ever did. So
overall the two main points the film tried to show about this man

Analysis Of Bruce Wayne s Batman Essay
In Batman: Ego, Bruce Wayne struggles to fight his inner demons. These demons take on the shape of
Batman and lead to a power struggle with Bruce Wayne. Wayne fights to hold on to what he believes
in and show the world the true meaning of the Batman costume. This fight categorizes not only Wayne
s character but also the character of Batman. The comic pushes the characters into stereotypical roles
of what a hero and a villain are. Initially, Bruce Wayne is presented as the canon good guy or the hero,
while Batman is presented as the stereotypical bad guy . This representation is achieved by the comic
through its use of details. Due to the illusion of light and the use of colors, Batman: Ego represents
Bruce Wayne s character as a being of purity and innocence and represents Batman as a being of evil
and darkness.
Batman: Ego uses the illusion of light to portray Bruce Wayne s character in a positive way and the
character of Batman in a negative way. Every time Bruce Wayne is shown in one of the comic panels,
a beam of light is shown over his face or behind him. No matter the background of the comic, Wayne
is always clearly visible as if a beam of light is constantly aimed at him. By doing this, the comic is
setting Wayne up as a symbol of purity and light. Wayne is like a beacon of hope who strongly
contrasts with the dark reality that is Gotham. This use of light is most clearly seen in a panel on page
54. Within this panel, Wayne stands in the shadow of the villainous

governments the authority to decide when to use the death penalty. I understand these are not everyone

governments have authority over the use of the death penalty is appropriate does not mean the matter
is settled. Governments are created in land by people were in perfect and make mistakes. For this
reason is important to have debates such as this one in order to elevate our society s highest possible

Importance Of Heroes In Today s Society
According to Gerard Way ¨ Heroes are ordinary people who make themselves extraordinary¨. There
can be many people who are considered heroes in today s time. Such as people who rescue people
from life threatening situations. There are true heroes today because need help from others so that is
when heroes show what they are made of. Role models could also be considered a hero to some
people but not to everyone. Heroes are definitely needed in today s society because not everyone has
what it takes to defend themselves or get themselves out of life threatening situations.
What would you do if you were in a situation where your life is in danger and there is no one there to
help you? Say you were in a burning house or had a severe injury, That s when heroes come in ,
Heroes come in many different shapes and sizes such as a doctor or a firefighter. It is who you
consider a hero is because a hero is a different to everyone. Some people might consider your hero to
be a normal person because they don t look at them the same as you do. Most people would consider a

The Importance Of Football Uniforms
Football Uniform What if football players did not wear uniforms? Football teams would look
discombobulated, and Football players would not be able to specify who is on which team during a
game. A football uniform has so many different components. Football uniforms have three main
sections: a lower body section, a torso, and a helmet section. Each section includes different
equipment and items that make up each part. Some of pieces of the uniform are strictly for enhancing
performance, while others are for improving style, but every part is important to a football uniform.
First, football players wear important uniform pieces on their lower body. The lower body part of a
football uniform contains tights, a girdle, football pants, a towel, and cleats. The first piece of the
lower body section of a uniform are tights. Tights are tight fitting pants that fit to a player s legs, hence
the name tights. Tights are skin tight and keep the leg muscles stable and cool. Tights also posses a
component of style. Tights come in all different colors and can bring a uniform together. For example,
players on the Minnesota Vikings all wear purple tights that look awesome. The next part of the lower
body is a girdle. A girdle is used strictly for keeping players safe by protecting the hips and thighs. In a
way, a girdle is practically underwear with pads. The next important piece of the lower body are
football pants. Football pants go just below the knees and are tighter fitting around the legs. Football
pants are built to endure hits and rough games, and they have knee pads to add protection. A belt loops
around the pants to keep the pants from falling down. Football pants vary in color depending on the
team color and style choice. Football pants also bring a football uniform together by giving the
uniform a solid pop in color. Following the football pants, the next part of the lower body is the towel.
The towel is a small, rectangular, white towel that velcros around the belt. Towels are both useful and
good looking. Players use towels to keep their hands dry so that they can throw and catch the football
to the best of their ability. Towels also give a football uniform a flash of style. The final piece of the
lower body

Health Care Cost Benefit Analysis
Federal health care costs continue to exceed the American economy fueled by federal health care law,
rising enrollments, and increased enrollee spending. The 2010 Affordable Care Act (ACA)
significantly changed federal health care policies in the key areas of insurance coverage, access to
care, medical care financing, and Medicare program operations. ACA provides good benefits to
Americans but comes with a 12.2% increase in cost to the federal government (Meyer, 2017). Health
care costs are projected to increase to more than $4 trillion dollars by the end of 2017 nearly doubling
since 2006 (Meyer, 2017). Economists project this trend to continue estimating a 6.9% increase
annually making it the single highest cost to the federal government (Edwards, 2017). The cost of
health care is approaching a crisis if unchecked will continue to grow. Congress has struggled to reach
consensus on a more efficient approach to managing health cares costs failing in 2017 to repeal or
replace ACA. They will need to reengage now to enact laws to stabilize this looming threat to the
American people. I recommend three changes to reduce the impact to federal debt. These changes are

Drug coverage is also a significant cost to both Medicaid and Medicare. This recommendation reduces
costs specifically in Medicaid and Medicate Part D (Federal Deficit fit with Health Care, 2017. The

increase in premiums since 2016. These rising costs must be mitigated and requiring drug
manufacturers to pay the same rebate currently paid to Medicaid and Medicare is the first step.
Rebates are paid quarterly to the states and shared with the federal government to offset the overall
cost. Implementing this recommendation is estimated to reduce federal government costs by $220

The Working Memory Model Proposed by Alan Baddeley and...
That our memory isn t veridical is not a novel idea. This means that we don t perfectly remember
everything that we have seen or experienced in the past. Broadly speaking, there are two fundamental
memory errors that occur in everyday life. One is forgetting events that have occurred, and the other is
remembering something that did not transpire (or misremembering them in the way that they
occurred). The first error, forgetting, is very common, and needs no explanation. We can all think of
instances where our memory has failed us. However, the latter error is a more curious scenario. Often
times, when a friend mentions a funny episode that happened at a party you were at, you might
incorporate that into your memory even though you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is to say that the brain works on the information even after we store it in our memories. And
therein lies the problem. The fact that our cognitive system processes raw data in order to make better
sense of it is a probable cause of the aforementioned lapse in our memory. This experiment aims to
study whether the information processing in our cognitive systems leads to the formation of
false/illusory memories, and if so, what are the possible reasons as to why these false memories take
shape. The experiment was in the form of a word recognition test. Participants went through a list of
12 words; the words were all thematically related (car, wheel, bike, motorcycle ...), with the exception
of one of two in the list (pencil). After they had gone through the list, they were presented with
another set of words, and were asked to recognize which of those words had been present in the initial
list. Each of these recognition sets contained at least one word that belonged to the same overarching
theme of the initial list, but wasn t actually present in it (brakes). Thus, there were three types of
words participants could have chosen on the recognition sets : words that appeared on the list, words
that did not appear, but were related to the ones on the list, and those

Before the Melting Pot by Israel Zangwill
A lot of what we read today about out history, is told to us through wartime victories and tragedies,
slavery, and political power. The book, Before the Melting Pot gives a great account of how much
ethnicity factored into these ideas and how New York City was made into the melting pot of culture
we see today. The book starts out in New Amsterdam, detailing the importance of The Dutch West
India Company and its importance in trade; including the African slave trade. The citizens of New
Amsterdam had little to no say in governmental decisions. At times, there were citizen advisory boards
created, and a director general that made decisions, but for the most part even these issues were at the
mercy of the Dutch West India Company s control. More specifically, the commander and ruler named
Peter Stuyvesant was the director general that made all the Dutch West India Company s decisions in
New Netherland, until the English took over power. The book goes into detail about the people over
the courses of their lives, more specifically, three different generations of men starting with those
present at the English acquisition of New Netherland in 1664, the sons of these men who stayed in
New York City, and then their grandchildren. She also discusses the French, the Jews; Dutchmen
already present there, Africans, and Englishmen. The Dutch had little to no trouble getting along
because the culture was already established there, and community was bound by religion, and the

many other Transcendentalists, being your own person or individualism was of utmost importance.
Thoreau s true meaning behind this statement is if someone acts differently than you or in a strange
manner, they may have different values and norms in their life than your own. Those people are
simply reacting in a way that their values deem as morally right. Thoreau greatly emphasizes the

The Causes Of Happiness And Happiness
Money. It can determine a lot of things for people; social ranking, how others think of you, and even
happiness. Many people think that when you have money you also have happiness. Yes that can be
true, but just how true is it? Money can be the cause of happiness and also sadness, needless to say
money have a huge impact on every single person. Everyone wants money I think it s safe to say,
everyone wants to feel stable. Yes its great to have money; you can do more things, travel more, and
make family and friends happy with gifts you could buy them. But after all the toys and material
things are gone can you say that you re happy, or that something s missing still? When you go out to a
fancy restaurant what do you remember most, the people you take or the meal you just consumed?
Research shows experiences provide more happiness than material goods in part, because experiences
are more likely to make us feel connected to others (Mandi Woodruff 5 Reasons Why Money Isn t
Making You Happy ). People make connections that last with their personality, not their money. This
has the same concept as growing up in a wealthy family. Some kids grow up never really having a
relationship with their parents because all they want to do is work to make more money. People crave
the love and attention from someone more than they want money. We as humans like to feel secure in
a lot of different aspects in our lives, and if we aren t being loved, that could be the worst of it all.

Case Study: Vitiligo
Katelynn Schnepper
PHGY 220 Gerald McGraw
October 4, 2014
Vitiligo is a chronic skin disorder that affects the pigmentation of the skin. Pigment is what gives the
skin color and is produced by cells called melanocytes. In the disorder, the body attacks the
melanocytes resulting in the loss of color in patchy areas. When the color is lost, the affected area
becomes a white irregular shaped patch on the outer layer of the skin. Vitiligo can affect a very small
portion of the body or affect up to fifty percent of the skin. The most common areas of the body
affected by the disorder include the hands, feet, arms, face and sometimes the genitalia. This illness
can be treated but it cannot be cured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1665, a scientist named Marcello Malpighi came up with the idea that the skin coloring was mainly
dteremined from the granules of the stratum mucosum, not by those of the stratum corneum of the
dermis. In 1879, Moritz Kaposi was the first man to observe the lack in pigmentation in the rete pegs
of vitiligo. Rete pegs are epithelial extensions that project into the connective tissue in the skin and the
mucous membrane. About 4000 years of knowledge about vitiligo has been recorded and observed
from the time man first noticed the white patches appearing on the skin until the melanocyte was
determined as the actor for causing the depigmentation in the skin. Two to five million Americans are
affected by this disorder according to a poll in 1996. People under forty years of age are most
commonly diagnosed with vitiligo. The disease appears in middle stages of life and will be chronically
present from time of diagnoses. Vitiligo has been found in both genders and in all types of races,
affecting people world wide. Although when comparing the cases of vitiligo in the US and around the
world, people affected is between 0.1 8 percent. Significantly lower than the US and Europe. About

Us Support And Agendas Within The Middle East
US support and agendas within the Middle East have been extremely complicated in the last century.
Starting with the backing of the Shah of Iran in the early 1950s to the present day conflict in Syria,
there appears to be no decision without adverse secondary and tertiary effects. Since the Persian Gulf
War, US policy has been fully supportive of the Arabs and Turks while limiting official support for the
Kurds in Turkey, Iraq, and Syria. Nevertheless, unofficially, the US has fully supported the Kurds
militarily through the establishment of long term partnerships between military forces. While always a
point of contention with Turkey and the Government of Iraq (GOI), the recent increase in support for
Kurdish forces in Syria to oppose the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) brought the issue to
the forefront. The time for US policy to withhold support for the Kurds is past due to their critical role
in the campaign against ISIL. The US attempted to establish a coalition amongst the Turks and the
Arabs but this has largely failed to turn the tide of ISIL s advance. However, following the consistent
successes of the Kurds advance wresting control of northeastern Syria away from ISIL, it is a foregone
conclusion that the US requires an alliance with the Kurds if they wish to establish some semblance of
stability in the Middle East. In the end, can the US ethically and morally provide support to the Kurds,
ignoring requests from US allies in the region?

The Political Writings Of Thomas Hobbes, John Locke And...
The political writings of Thomas Hobbes, John Locke and Jean Jacques Rousseau focus a great deal of
their work discussing various views of the state of nature, and the human nature for the establishment
of political authority. These three theorists have many differing opinions of the purpose and reality of
the state of nature, the purpose of government and the impact of founders and how men secure their
rights. In the Leviathan, Hobbes believes that the state of nature is a constant state of war where
reality does not exist. The state of war brings the necessity for all individuals to live their lives in a
constant state of fear, and that all men are equal because the weakest man has the capability to kill the
strongest. Due to the premise that the state of nature is a constant perpetual war, government must
only control and provide law and order and not represent. In The Second Treatise of Government,
Locke provides a much different account of the state of nature. Locke believes that all men are equal
in the state of nature, and have the equality of freedom to do what they wish. Locke s state of nature is
not particularly a good or bad one. However, Locke believes that man s natural rights are their
property and their liberty and freedom, and that government should do what is necessary to protect
that. Locke also believes that the establishment of political authority is best protective to the people
when they are elected by the people and are responsive and accountable to

Dealing With Absence By Emily Bronte And Thomas Hardy
A lot of times in life you feel some presence of absence. Now what the absence is can vary greatly.
You can feel this missing element in a lot of things in life. It can be from a loved one all the way to a
hobby. Obviously when you feel the absence, you have to find some way to deal with it. That is
exactly what Emily Bronte and Thomas Hardy do in their poems. In Emily Bronte s poem the speaker
is dealing with the loss of a loved one. The speaker is trying to make some decisions on what to do
and her way is one way to look at things. In Thomas Hardy s first poem he has another unique way of
dealing with this absence. His isn t in the same way though because it isn t about the same thing. Then
in his second poem there is yet another take on absence, it has a very harsh tone to it and is an

1. Was This Presentation Valuable?
This presentation on the risks of driving while under the influence of cannabis was extremely
informative while also being engaging and interesting at the same time. In my opinion, the
presentation was particularly valuable because drugs have become a very prominent subject among
my age group, and not everyone is knowledgeable of all the risks associated with smoking. In health,
we learn about the effects of drugs and the risks of drinking alcohol and driving, however, we don t
really cover the topic of smoking and driving, which leads people to think there is nothing at risk. This
presentation informs us of the potentially deadly risks of driving while under the influence of cannabis
that many people are unaware of. As well, the information provided not only informs people who
do/might smoke in the future of what they may be putting at risk, but it also informs people of the risk
who then could prevent a friend of potentially making the poor decision of smoking and driving.

would put many more people at risk of an accident. Another thing I found interesting is that almost 1

I have made a difference in my community by volunteering for many organizations. To start, I have
participated in the Lisbon Community Band and provided musical entertainment for the community to
enjoy free of charge. Each year, my town band has a winter and summer concert. These concerts
include a new set of songs for the community to hear. Music relaxes the mind and is believed to have
certain healing properties. I have been in my town s community band for eight years now and I plan to
be a member for as long as I can. The community band is a valuable and necessary aspect of my
community. I also have participated in my town s Boy Scout Troop in the past, helping out individuals
in the community, raking leaves in their yards, and performing ... Show more content on

These were beneficial to not just the community, but to anyone who was set to receive blood
transfusions for medical reasons. As a Boy Scout, we also aided other organizations, such as the
Lisbon Historical Society. Furthermore, my troop assisted in running events, such as my town s fall
festival. My community extends to other parts of the state, as I have volunteered for organizations in
nearby towns. One such organization that I volunteer at is the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in
New London. I volunteer in the summers in the Lawrence and Memorial Lobby shop gift shop. I feel I
am able to make a difference in the life of those who come into the gift shop. Specifically, I attempt to
bring smiles to the faces of the customers and make their experience in the gift shop enjoyable.
Another organization I volunteer for is the Slater Library in Jewett City. One summer I developed a
reading and science experiment program that lasted for many weeks and motivated children to read, as
well as become interested in the sciences. Through the creation of this program, I have observed
children having a great time performing these science experiments while being motivated to read
challenging books. Overall, I believe I have made a significant impact on my community and I will
continue to contribute my town in the

Ignorance, Ignorance And Ignorance
According to Mark Lilla s Ignorance and Bliss , The source of the proverb Ignorance is Bliss is a
poem by the 18th century English poet Thomas Gray, who wrote in passing: Where ignorance is bliss/
Tis folly to be wise (Lilla). At the time the proverb was referring to the Enlightenment and Christianity
s glorification of blind faith, and its renunciation of both scientific reason and philosophical inquiry;
however, today, it can be interpreted as whether or not man has the ability to maintain happiness in the
midst of unhappiness. Is ignorance really bliss? Can it serve as a way to avoid anxieties, or would
repression of issues only lead to more dissatisfaction? Webster s dictionary defines ignorance as lack
of knowledge, education, or awareness. However, it can also be seen as a refusal to acknowledge
information. Bliss is defined as complete happiness. Does the idea of ignorance is bliss really hold
true? Can happiness be a byproduct of a lack of knowledge and awareness, or the flat out refusal to
acknowledge? The people of Omelas seemed to have achieved that. The townspeople of Omelas live
in a prosperous Utopian town where everyone is happy, but in order to maintain their way of life a
child must be subjected to inhuman treatment and suffering, They all know it is there, all the people of
Omelas...[T]hey all understand that their happiness...depends wholly on this child s abominable
misery (Le Guin). How can they allow such atrocities to take place? Well, as Mark

Big Band Music In The 1940 s
This article is about the Big Band Sounds. Big band music got its origins in Swing and Jazz. This type
of music was most popular in the 1930 s and 1940 s. Big Bands usually consisted of anywhere from
10 to 25 instruments. Some of the great musical sound and some of the great musicians associated
with it Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Duke Ellington.
William Count Basie was an American jazz pianist, organist, bandleader, and composer. He led his
popular Count Basie Orchestra for almost 50 years and was a leading figure of the swing era in jazz
and, alongside Duke Ellington. His theme songs were One O Clock Jump and April In Paris . Basie
and his band kept active in the post WW 2 years and even up into the 1970 s although ... Show more

City. His most popular recordings included: Rhapsody in Blue, Mississippi Mud, Wonderful One and

considered the King of Jazz at that time. He had 28 number one records during the 1920 s. /p p /p

Credit Card Breach Essay
The Trump Hotel Collection, a string of luxury hotel properties tied to business magnate and now
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, appears to be the latest victim of a credit card
breach, according to data shared by several U.S. based banks.
Contacted regarding reports from sources at several banks who traced a pattern of fraudulent debit and
credit card charges to accounts that had all been used at Trump hotels, the company declined multiple
requests for comment.
The Trump Organization just acknowledged the issue with a brief statement from Eric Trump,
executive vice president of development and acquisitions: Like virtually every other company these
days, we have been alerted to potential suspicious credit card activity and ... Show more content on

In March, upscale hotel chainMandarin Oriental disclosed a compromise. The following month, hotel
franchising firmWhite Lodging acknowledged that, for the second time in 12 months, card processing
systems at several of its locations were breached by hackers.
It is likely that the huge number of card breaches at U.S. based organizations over the past year
represents a response by fraudsters to upcoming changes in the United States designed to make credit
and debit cards more difficult and expensive to counterfeit. Non chip cards store cardholder data on a
magnetic stripe, which can be trivially copied and re encoded onto virtually anything else with a
magnetic stripe.
Magnetic stripe based cards are the primary target for hackers who have been breaking into retailers
like Target and Home Depot and installing malicious software on the cash registers: The data is quite
valuable to crooks because it can be sold to thieves who encode the information onto new plastic and
go shopping at big box stores for stuff they can easily resell for cash (think high dollar gift cards and

  • 2. How Do Recreational Drugs Affect People Psychology Drugs Project 2017 Script Today I am going to present a poster that I made on recreational drugs which includes examples of drugs and their physiological and psychological effect on people. Firstly, I want to define the term recreational drugs . Recreational drugs refer to chemical substances that can cause changes to your mind. This is a psychoactive drug that affect people psychologically by changing their sensory perception, moods, thinking and behaviour. Recreational drugs can cause changes in mind because they are literally impacting the functions of neurotransmitters. These chemical substances are not used for medical reasons, instead they are used for leisurely purposes. Recreational drugs are divided into three groups which are stimulants, depressants, and hallucinogens. Firstly, stimulants are also known as the uppers , this drug temporally increase the alertness and energy of the body so it can work faster. The second type of the recreational drug is depressants. Depressants are also known as the downers . This calms the activity of the nervous system and slow the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Caffeine is found in tea and coffee. The physiological effect of caffeine increased heart rate. Caffeine excites the receptors within your heart to work faster by blocking the enzyme phosphodiesterace. The psychological effect of caffeine is increased alertness. It helps you to feel more awake and less tired, so it is used for medication to treat drowsiness. Caffeine s psychological effect is that caffeine mimics the neurochemical called adenosine. Caffeine mimics the shape, size of the adenosine and enters the receptor without stimulating them. • 3. Ignorance In Elie Wiesel s Night Night by Elie Wiesel is written in remembrance of the Jewish people and to remember the crimes where not only inflicted upon the Jews, but their religion, culture, and tradition (Wiesel). Night is a novel consisting of several themes. One of the major theme statements is risks of ignorance. Elie Wiesel shows the theme of risks of ignorance by the literary devices of ellipses, foreshadowing, and characterization. To begin with, ellipses are shown several times through the course of the story relating back to the theme of ignorance. Ellipses is a pause in thought that is understandable using context. Wiesel uses ellipsis when the Jews had to follow multiple edits; first the Jews were prohibited from leaving their residences under the penalty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Characterization is the description both physically and mentally of a character. Wiesel worked in the dead of winter when his foot began to swell from the frigid temperatures. He then was transported to the infirmary where they put him in bed with sheets, which came as a surprise to Wiesel. He described ....the infirmary [as] not bad at all: we were entitled to good bread, a thicker soup. No more bell, no more roll call, no more work and was able to send food to his father on a rare occasion (Wiesel 78). The author uses characterization when Eliezer transitions from working in subfreezing temperatures in the middle of winter to staying in the infirmary where they treat his leg. Characterization gives the reader s ways in which the character changes in a novel or remains constant. This section shows how Eliezer views and ideals have changed. Eliezer has drastically lowered his expectations, which is shown by the thought of sheets on his bed lightening his mood. Before being sent to Auschwitz such a minuscule thing would not have dramatically changed his day. Eliezer who is skeletally thin becomes alighted to be fed a thicker soup. This character has drastically changed due to the undeniably horrific things Eliezer and the other Jews have been put through. Characterization is shown once again when Wiesel and his father arrive at Appelplatz. Eliezer s father moans about being unable to keep on living and continues to struggle between life and death. Once the alarm sounds the prisoners are sent to the blocks where Eliezer sleeps, forgetting his father. Wiesel denied his responsibilities despite [him knowing his father] was running out of strength, close to death, and yet [he] abandoned [his father] (Wiesel 106). His father, close to death, has become weak, frightened, and vulnerable and becomes a burden to Wiesel. The author uses characterization when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Positive Effects Of Fashion On Your Life For my blog post, I am going to be discussing the positive effects fashion can have on your life. My intended audience will be high school and college students that want to make their daily lives easier and have somewhat of an interest in fashion. I start off my blog post by asking the readers a question and making a statement that they would not think is true. After that, I go into my specifies where I talk about the three main aspects of my statement, fitting in, authority, and comfort. Each of these topics have their own claims which I use research to back up. I also would include photos which basically gives you a visual example of each of my points. In my opinion, the most important part of my post might have to be the evidence I provide backing up these sources. Some of the evidence, for example the one where it mentions how dressing better helps you land a job can be crucial especially to my audience. I provide them with things that they can personally relate to and I believe it will help me reach out to them better. Furthermore, the use of images can provide a visual example and which my audience might find useful because it portrays what happens when you follow the tips. Look Good Feel Better Why should you care about the way you dress ? It is just clothing right, it can t really make a difference. In 154 pages and eighteen chapters, The Clay Marble follows the life of the protagonist, Dara, a twelve year old Cambodian girl, seeking a home for the remnants of family during Cambodian s civil war. The novel is historical fiction, presenting the story of Dara in her own first person perspective. As the novel goes on, Dara learns to become more and more confident within herself. The Clay Marble, although short and sweet, introduced me to Asian life in Cambodia during its civil war. In chapter seven of the book, I could make a connection between the Cherokee s Trail of Tears and the long grueling walk the many refugee families had to take to reach safety. The Cherokees were walking away from the harsh greedy whites, while the refugees were walking away from the nearing fighting of the civil war. I really appreciate Dara and Jantu s view on life. In the novel, when Dara was persuading Sarun to quit being a soldier at the end, she made wonderful arguments. The most memorable argument was when Dara said that it took more courage to stay peaceful in their own village, rather than to fight in war, which was nothing else than a game of destroying and breaking. • 9. Rhetorical Analysis Of Defending Free Speech On College... Free speech on college campuses has been a widely debated topic in recent years. Because of this, the opinions held on this subject vary. In the editorial, Defending Free Speech on College Campuses , the Editorial Board of the Chicago Tribune defends the idea of education and free speech. The Editorial Board states that students today are not receiving as useful of an education because of the barriers put on free speech. In addition, they argue that in not allowing students to feel uncomfortable, they are not receiving a true education. Winning the hearing doesn t mean Republic Water Company of Texas will win approval to export the water. Board members, for example, could dismiss the application as another version of a request the board already denied, prompting another lawsuit. But City of Odessa and company officials say they view it as a step closer to winning an export permit for what they describe as a long term and higher quality water supply even if it might end up costing more. The district will have to hold the hearing by the end of the year after determining the application complete. Unfortunately in the 200 film Gladiator director Ridley Scott did not succeed. The film Gladiator may have had some accurate points but for the most part was not faithful to Roman history. With the poor representations of Marcus Aurelius, Commodus and creating an entirely new character as well as how the gladiatorial events in the movie didn t fully show how intricate and important gladiators really were. Finally the movie didn t showcase the proper attire and armour that real gladiators would wear. In a historical film it is important to get the portrayal of significant people done well. In the film Gladiator the three main characters where not portrayed correctly Maximus, Marcus and Commodus. In the film Marcus Aurelius was shown to be a cold father to his son. Wayne fights to hold on to what he believes in and show the world the true meaning of the Batman costume. This fight categorizes not only Wayne s character but also the character of Batman. The comic pushes the characters into stereotypical roles of what a hero and a villain are. Initially, Bruce Wayne is presented as the canon good guy or the hero, while Batman is presented as the stereotypical bad guy . This representation is achieved by the comic through its use of details. Due to the illusion of light and the use of colors, Batman: Ego represents Bruce Wayne s character as a being of purity and innocence and represents Batman as a being of evil and darkness. Batman: Ego uses the illusion of light to portray Bruce Wayne s character in a positive way and the character of Batman in a negative way. Every time Bruce Wayne is shown in one of the comic panels, a beam of light is shown over his face or behind him. No matter the background of the comic, Wayne is always clearly visible as if a beam of light is constantly aimed at him. By doing this, the comic is setting Wayne up as a symbol of purity and light. Football teams would look discombobulated, and Football players would not be able to specify who is on which team during a game. A football uniform has so many different components. Football uniforms have three main sections: a lower body section, a torso, and a helmet section. Each section includes different equipment and items that make up each part. Some of pieces of the uniform are strictly for enhancing performance, while others are for improving style, but every part is important to a football uniform. First, football players wear important uniform pieces on their lower body. The lower body part of a football uniform contains tights, a girdle, football pants, a towel, and cleats. The first piece of the lower body section of a uniform are tights. Tights are tight fitting pants that fit to a player s legs, hence the name tights. Tights are skin tight and keep the leg muscles stable and cool. Tights also posses a component of style. Tights come in all different colors and can bring a uniform together. For example, players on the Minnesota Vikings all wear purple tights that look awesome. The next part of the lower body is a girdle. A girdle is used strictly for keeping players safe by protecting the hips and thighs. In a way, a girdle is practically underwear with pads. The next important piece of the lower body are football pants. Football pants go just below the knees and are tighter fitting around the legs. Football pants are built to endure hits and rough games, and they have knee pads to add protection. A belt loops around the pants to keep the pants from falling down. Football pants vary in color depending on the team color and style choice. Football pants also bring a football uniform together by giving the uniform a solid pop in color. Following the football pants, the next part of the lower body is the towel. The towel is a small, rectangular, white towel that velcros around the belt. Towels are both useful and good looking. Players use towels to keep their hands dry so that they can throw and catch the football to the best of their ability. Towels also give a football uniform a flash of style. This means that we don t perfectly remember everything that we have seen or experienced in the past. Broadly speaking, there are two fundamental memory errors that occur in everyday life. One is forgetting events that have occurred, and the other is remembering something that did not transpire (or misremembering them in the way that they occurred). The first error, forgetting, is very common, and needs no explanation. We can all think of instances where our memory has failed us. However, the latter error is a more curious scenario. The book, Before the Melting Pot gives a great account of how much ethnicity factored into these ideas and how New York City was made into the melting pot of culture we see today. The book starts out in New Amsterdam, detailing the importance of The Dutch West India Company and its importance in trade; including the African slave trade. The citizens of New Amsterdam had little to no say in governmental decisions. At times, there were citizen advisory boards created, and a director general that made decisions, but for the most part even these issues were at the mercy of the Dutch West India Company s control. More specifically, the commander and ruler named Peter Stuyvesant was the director general that made all the Dutch West India Company s decisions in New Netherland, until the English took over power. The book goes into detail about the people over the courses of their lives, more specifically, three different generations of men starting with those present at the English acquisition of New Netherland in 1664, the sons of these men who stayed in New York City, and then their grandchildren. She also discusses the French, the Jews; Dutchmen already present there, Africans, and Englishmen. • 32. Us Support And Agendas Within The Middle East US support and agendas within the Middle East have been extremely complicated in the last century. Starting with the backing of the Shah of Iran in the early 1950s to the present day conflict in Syria, there appears to be no decision without adverse secondary and tertiary effects. Since the Persian Gulf War, US policy has been fully supportive of the Arabs and Turks while limiting official support for the Kurds in Turkey, Iraq, and Syria. Nevertheless, unofficially, the US has fully supported the Kurds militarily through the establishment of long term partnerships between military forces. While always a point of contention with Turkey and the Government of Iraq (GOI), the recent increase in support for Kurdish forces in Syria to oppose the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) brought the issue to the forefront. The time for US policy to withhold support for the Kurds is past due to their critical role in the campaign against ISIL. The US attempted to establish a coalition amongst the Turks and the Arabs but this has largely failed to turn the tide of ISIL s advance. However, following the consistent successes of the Kurds advance wresting control of northeastern Syria away from ISIL, it is a foregone conclusion that the US requires an alliance with the Kurds if they wish to establish some semblance of stability in the Middle East. • 35. The Political Writings Of Thomas Hobbes, John Locke And... The political writings of Thomas Hobbes, John Locke and Jean Jacques Rousseau focus a great deal of their work discussing various views of the state of nature, and the human nature for the establishment of political authority. These three theorists have many differing opinions of the purpose and reality of the state of nature, the purpose of government and the impact of founders and how men secure their rights. In the Leviathan, Hobbes believes that the state of nature is a constant state of war where reality does not exist. The state of war brings the necessity for all individuals to live their lives in a constant state of fear, and that all men are equal because the weakest man has the capability to kill the strongest. Due to the premise that the state of nature is a constant perpetual war, government must only control and provide law and order and not represent. In The Second Treatise of Government, Locke provides a much different account of the state of nature. Locke believes that all men are equal in the state of nature, and have the equality of freedom to do what they wish. Locke s state of nature is not particularly a good or bad one. However, Locke believes that man s natural rights are their property and their liberty and freedom, and that government should do what is necessary to protect that. Locke also believes that the establishment of political authority is best protective to the people when they are elected by the people and are responsive and accountable to ... This presentation on the risks of driving while under the influence of cannabis was extremely informative while also being engaging and interesting at the same time. In my opinion, the presentation was particularly valuable because drugs have become a very prominent subject among my age group, and not everyone is knowledgeable of all the risks associated with smoking. In health, we learn about the effects of drugs and the risks of drinking alcohol and driving, however, we don t really cover the topic of smoking and driving, which leads people to think there is nothing at risk. Ignorance, Ignorance And Ignorance According to Mark Lilla s Ignorance and Bliss , The source of the proverb Ignorance is Bliss is a poem by the 18th century English poet Thomas Gray, who wrote in passing: Where ignorance is bliss/ Tis folly to be wise (Lilla). At the time the proverb was referring to the Enlightenment and Christianity s glorification of blind faith, and its renunciation of both scientific reason and philosophical inquiry; however, today, it can be interpreted as whether or not man has the ability to maintain happiness in the midst of unhappiness. Is ignorance really bliss? Can it serve as a way to avoid anxieties, or would repression of issues only lead to more dissatisfaction? Webster s dictionary defines ignorance as lack of knowledge, education, or awareness. However, it can also be seen as a refusal to acknowledge information. Bliss is defined as complete happiness. Does the idea of ignorance is bliss really hold true? Can happiness be a byproduct of a lack of knowledge and awareness, or the flat out refusal to acknowledge?
