Inignificant Loss In One Art By Elizabeth Bishop
In One Art by Elizabeth Bishop, the speaker is talking about the art of losing. In this poem, Bishop is
the speaker and describes how some things are made to be lost easily, like house keys or times that
was spent inefficiently and poorly. Then, Bishop writes that as the practices of insignificant loss
continues, when significant loss occurs, it would make hard for her to cope and accept. Bishop also
described door keys or times that she waste as insignificant loss, then the poem grows when things she
lost became more specific and big. Bishop continues what her lost in her life, like a places and names,
then mother s watch, places and sites, then specifically, you, she said, emphasizing that it s a person
she loved. Throughout the poem, Bishop had repeated line, informing that her losses are not a disaster,
or it s not big of a deal. However, at end of the poem, Bishop eventually accept, she had difficulty
overcoming her loss.
The poem starts with Bishop addressing the reader that the art of losing, isn t hard and isn t hard to

the poorly spent hour is fundamental things and are insignificant and not a big deal. Loses of hour
badly spent, is considered as a loss, since one is losing or spending the time inefficiently and maybe
losing time to do something efficiently rather to spend them in unuseful way. At the end of the stanza,
Bishop writes The art of losing isn t hard to master (Line six) she again, informs that losing isn t

Trinity Monistic
Father, Son and Holy Spirit is a common phrase in the Christian faith. Who are these people and what
do they represent? These three people are separate people, but represent one God. The concept of the
Trinity creates a lot of debate, because some skeptics think that the Trinity is either Monistic or Pagan.
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three separate beings that represent one God, and this can be seen
in different passages in the Bible.
Is the Trinity Monistic or a Pagan grouping of Gods? The Trinity is not monistic because God does not
reveal himself in three different forms. The Trinity is three co existing eternal persons who exist as
one God. The Trinity is also not three separate Gods. The Father is the godhead of the Trinity ... Show

An example of this trend takes place in the book of Isaiah. Jesus states I AM several times in the
chapter. Jesus is making a strong statement that he is God. God is the Trinity, and Jesus is one of the
persons that make up God. In John 5:18 Jesus breaks the rules of the Sabbath, and calls God his own
Father. Jesus is making it known that he is the Son of the Father, and therefore, equal to God. The only
way Jesus could be God is if he is the Son of the Father. This passage shows Jesus place in the Trinity.
The most concrete example of Jesus being one with God takes place in John 10:33. Jesus states I and
the Father are one where Jesus is very clearly defining himself as God. Jesus is God along with the
Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus proves he is a part of the Trinity by clearly stating that he is one with

Caesar Augustus Legacy
Caesar Augustus: *** What s in a name? A name is a defining characteristic of a human being. It
carries with it accomplishments, traits, stories, and a legacy. When Caesar Augustus radically changed
Roman civilization, he established a legacy that would far outlive him. After years of political turmoil,
he brought the city and the empire from the chaos of civil war to a system of ordered and stable
government (Shotter, Introduction). Along with his strong influence on government policies, his
influence found its way into parts of culture such as architecture, religion, and literature as well. In
doing this, Caesar Augustus created a name for himself that would transcend the ages. Augustus was
born as Gaius Octavius on September 23, 63 B.C. (Richardson 4). Showing promise as young man, his
great uncle, Julius Caesar, took special interest in him, giving him jobs and experience in the political
world. Caesar eventually developed a relationship so close with him that he considered Octavius his
adopted son (Shotter, Ch. 2). When Caesar was assassinated on the Ides of March, his murderers,
Brutus and Cassius, had no plans for the future other than believing that the death of the tyrant would
automatically lead to the Restorations of the Republic, and instead plunged Rome into a fresh round of
civil conflict for thirteen more years (Shotter Ch. 2; Bentley et al. 223). This problem sets up the need
for a political figure to fix these pressing issues, and harboring

WW2 Propaganda
From 1941 to 1945, the United States fought in the second world war after the Japanese attack on
Pearl Harbor. It had created a chaotic environment for America as a whole; panic spread across the
nation and many were fearful of the Axis powers. Because the government is an accurate
representation of its people, the people will always reflect the behaviors of their government. Thus,
nations needed to remain strong and tenacious in their efforts to support allies and defend against
enemies. An effective method of doing so was through the wide use of propaganda. Through movies,
animations, and formal and broadcasted speech, the United States used influential pieces ... Show

Using propaganda as a service announcement allowed the government to get money to fund the war.
In junction with animated propaganda was movie based propaganda. Director Frank Capra produced
seven films from 1943 to 1944, collectively called Why We Fight, portraying Germany, Italy and
Japan as nations of inhuman murderers. The film was produced as a response to Leni Riefenstahl s
film Triumph of the Will and had a tough time convincing non interventionist America to get involved
in the war. Capra s goal was to let the enemy prove to our soldiers the enormity of his cause and the
justness of ours (Wikipedia, Why We Fight). In order to persuade Americans to support the war, Capra
took out many facts from the film in order to paint the Allies, especially the Soviets, as good guys.
The Nazi Soviet Alliance, the Soviet s invasion of Poland, and Soviet occupation of the Baltic States
were all excluded.
Another form of propaganda used by Americans during World War II were speeches. One such
speech, Four Freedoms, was given by Roosevelt during his 1941 State of the Union Address before
the United States officially joined the war. It outlined the four freedoms that would be guaranteed to
all people across the world: the freedom of speech; freedom of worship; freedom from want; and
freedom from fear (Foley 58). And since Americans believed that the U.S. was a symbol

Problem Of Deforestation
Deforestation is a genocide of trees, a modern day environmental plague. The clearing of millions of
trees each day. Not only hurting the environment, but all types of animals, plants, and indigenous
peoples that survive and live off of the forests. The forests we destroy day by day.
For our own selfish reasons. Deforestation is a major problem in our day and age, by killing the
millions of trees that live on our planet, we will kill the earth. Trees are apart of our natural
environment, they produce the oxygen we all need to breathe. If we as whole continue to kill our
Earth, tree by tree. We will be faced with global desertification and many other environmental
problems. Deforestation occurs mainly because of the major increase economic development. The
increasing production of roads, cattle farming, dams, agricultural farming, and much more. The
history of land use concerning deforestation, is closely related to farming and cattle ranching. In the
Amazon, cattle ranching is a major problem resulting in the increase of deforestation. Having over 200
million cattle in the Amazon, Brazil is the leading export of cattle in the world. Cattle ranching takes
up a lot of space, so just think of all the millions of trees that have to be cut down to make space for
these humongous ranches. It s the same thing with regular farming. Small farmers will clear a few
acres of trees then burn them, just so they can have room for their farms.

Central Characters In The Love In John Williams, By John...
1.) The 2 of the central characters in the novel are Ted and Miranda. They have been married for 3
years and relationship began when they met at a party. She introduced herself to him and they got
married a year later. Ted has realized his wife is cheating on him with their building contractor. She is
using him for his wealth. Before their marriage was going great but now Ted is having an affair with a
girl named Lily he met at an airport, who is also a major character of the novel as she is going to help
Ted murder his wife.
2.) One healthy aspect of Miranda and Ted s relationship is that they tend to get along quite well and
never argued. Ted mentions this when is talking to Lily about his relationship with Miranda before he
caught her cheating and he says, Our relationship was perfect, we never argued (Swanson 18). The
second health aspect in their relationship was that they trusted each other at one point. Ted says, Her
answer was such a shock... when she lied about being with Brad (Swanson 46). He trusted her and she
lied straight to his face. The third healthy aspect is that Ted loved Miranda for her and her beauty didn
t matter. Her beauty didn t mean a thing. Yea, she was pretty but I liked her for her. says Brad when he
is thinking of when he first met Miranda (Swanson 89).
3.) One unhealthy aspect of their relationship is that Miranda is cheating on Ted with a man named
Brad Dugget. Ted knows this because while he was outside, [he] saw her kiss him through

Factors Affecting Human Development During Phases Of...
The process of nondisjunction can occur in human development during phases in meiosis and mitosis.
The irregularity results in an abnormal amount of chromosomes in the produced cells and causes
alterations in those who are affected. Nondisjunctional consequences can be seen in these five
examples of genetic inheritance conditions discussed in this paper: Down syndrome, Patau s
syndrome, Edward s syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, and Turner s syndrome. The Mendelian
principles of genetics developed by Gregor Mendel include the patterns of autosomal recessive and
autosomal dominant. Autosomal dominant and recessive inheritance patterns can cause disorders such

As a result, there are an extra amount or not enough sets of chromosomes in the cells created which
causes disorders in those affected. The effects of nondisjunction include the following diseases: Down
syndrome, Patau s syndrome, Edward s syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, and Turner s syndrome.
Mendelian and non Mendelian inheritance patterns determine how certain traits are passed on to the
next generation. Mendelian patterns are autosomal dominant inheritance, which causes Marfan
syndrome and Huntington disease, and autosomal recessive inheritance, which causes cystic fibrosis
and sickle cell disease. Non Mendelian patterns of inheritance include polygenic and mitochondrial
inheritance. Polygenic inheritance is seen in the inheritance of traits like skin color and height and can
cause heart diseases and cancer. In mitochondrial inheritance, also known as maternal inheritance,
DNA in the mitochondria is passed down primarily from the mother. This form of inheritance causes
some disorders like Leber Hereditary Optic Neuropathy and Kearns Sayre syndrome may occur.
Epigenetic inheritance is an unusual process in which epigenetic tags created by a parent s experience
can be passed on to their offspring.
Nondisjunction describes the process in which the chromosomes of a cell do not divide in the correct
manner during meiosis and mitosis. The abnormality occur in one of three ways due to the incorrect
division of

Essay on Economic Growth and Development
Economic growth is a necessary but not sufficient condition of economic development.
There is no single definition that encompasses all the aspects of economic development. The most
comprehensive definition perhaps of economic development is the one given by Todaro:
Development is not purely an economic phenomenon but rather a multi dimensional process involving
reorganization and re orientation of the entire economic and social system.
Development is a process of improving the quality of all human lives with three equally important
aspects. These are:
1. Raising peoples living levels, i.e. incomes and consumption, levels of food, medical services,
education through relevant growth processes.
2. Creating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amartya Sen defines economic development in terms of personal freedom, freedom to choose from a
range of options. While economic growth may lead to an increase in the purchasing power of people,
if the country has a repressed economy, there is lack of choice and hence personal freedom in
restricted. Hence once again growth has taken place without any development.
While economic growth may result in an improvement in the standard of living of a relatively small
proportion of the population whilst the majority of the population remains poor. It is how the
economic growth is distributed amongst the population that determines the level of development.
Taking into consideration the trickle down theory of economics by
Lewis, if the growth in economy is not sufficient to satisfy the needs and wants of the upper sections,
nothing or very little shall trickle down to the lower sections in the hierarchy of society. Thus, the gap
between the rich and poor widens and though economic growth has impacted a certain section of
society, this cannot be considered development. Another example is an increase in the defence output
of a nation, which accounts for an increased GDP but does not in any way contribute to economic
development.
Economic growth is not enough in itself to measure economic development as even if there has been a
leap in the income of people in a particular nation,

Archduke Ferdinand Imperialism
The common belief is that the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand is the cause of World War One,
but underneath lies a deeper cause. During the early 1900s Europe controlled more then 90% of Africa

. Tension had been building between the Allies for many years, but the assassination had let of a

Nationalism caused every country wanting to be the biggest and the best. In the cartoon FREIHEIT

Although the Paris Agreement was taken place on October 23rd, 1991, Hun Sen had broken many of

SYNOPSIS The movie I chose for this paper is Interview with the Vampire. This movie starts out with
Louis, Brad Pitt, seeking out an eager journalist to write his story. Louis s story begins with his
transition from human to vampire; the one who turns him is a vampire named Lestat, Tom Cruise.
They start their undead life together as a companionship. They experience many endeavours, girls, and
cities. In one town ridden with the black plague, Louis finds a young girl, Kirsten Dunst. She is
grieving for her lost mother and Louis decides to take care of her. Lestat then makes the decision to

Comparison Of And The Man He Killed
Both The Man I Killed and The Man He Killed deal with a touchy subject: the morals and ethics of
killing someone in war. The Man He Killed is set during WW1 and is told through the perspective of
an anonymous main character while The Man I Killed is set during the Vietnam war and is told
through the perspective of O Brien. The story may convey a similar message, but three things that set
the two works of literature apart are the setting, reaction, and the person. In The Man He Killed , a
soldier in WW1, presumably European, kills an enemy for his first time. This soldier s war was a
completely different beast than Nam. In WW1 the front line was obvious, their army was on one side
and the enemy was on the other, which made it clear

Tyson Foods Competitive Advantage
The global poultry trade has been, and continues to be one of the fastest growing meat trades of the
last few years (Davis, 2015). The poultry industry has over the years has been faced a multitude of
challenges; this report explores factors that influence international trade, whilst explaining how a firm
s competitive advantage can be altered as a change in tariffs and quotas. From a Senior Managers
perspective, the report will also identify potential obstacles that a North American poultry firm may
face in the global market and explain how they achieve a comparative advantage. The Effect of Trade
Barriers on a Firms Competitive Advantage As a firm structured within the U.S broiler industry, there
are several factors that immediately give the company a competitive advantage. Typically, as a
developed country; North American firms combine maximal efficiency rates with minimal costs of
manufacture (Macdonald, 2008). The report also states that the US are ranked highly in terms of a
combination of diversification, off farm income and increased farm financial performance as well high
productivity which results in greater exports and an improved competitive advantage. Using Tyson
Foods as an example, a senior manager would constantly seek out opportunities to excel their firm
further ahead of its competitors. One way that Tyson food s upholds it s impressive competitive
advantage is through differentiation in terms of prioritizing customer service and quality

The Hunger Games And The Greek Myth Of Theseus
Research Paper Final Draft: President V.S. Minotaur In both the Hunger Games and the Greek myth of
Theseus and the Minotaur, children were used as sacrifices to make the Capitol and/or Minotaur seem
unbeatable. Children were offered as sacrifices to make the Capitol/Minotaur seem unbeatable. In the
Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur as punishment for displeasing Crete, seven youths and seven
maidens were periodically sent into a labyrinth containing a Minotaur which was half man and half
bull. This cycle doesn?t end until Theseus volunteers to go into the labyrinth and kill the Minotaur.
Theseus is successful in killing the beast and becomes the epic hero of this story.
In the Hunger Games, children were sent into an arena to kill each other as sacrifices this was a
symbol of the capitol?s power. Once a child reached the age of twelve their name was entered into the
mix for the Hunger Games, a fight to the death broadcasted on live TV. Katniss?s twelve year old
sister Prim gets picked and Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and the other district twelve
tribute, Peeta are the last two survivors and defy the Capitol by trying to kill themselves at the same
time. At the last second they are stopped and both come out of the arena victorious.
Once in the labyrinth, there was no escaping, much like the Hunger Games, the only way out was to
be the last living tribute. Katniss talking to Peeta says, ?Careful, there?s a force field up ahead?

of Morrie s aphorisms that means the most to me is, accept the past as the past, without denying it or
discarding it. One reason this quote speaks loudly to me is because I tend to dwell on the things that I
have already done in the past. This quote let s me know that I need to keep what I have done in the
past in mind, learn from it, and do it differently the next time. Another reason that this is an important
quote to me is because the past can bring me down sometimes. Reading this quote reminds me that
you learn from your mistakes. Instead of thinking about all of the bad things that happened, this quote

Investors can reallocate the investment based on their own views and changes in life situation. For
example, if an investor changes marital status from single to married, he/she can move to a more
conservative portfolio.

Investors can have a different purpose for the investment which determines the length of the

investment horizon is usually 5 years or less. Example: 70% of investment shares in fixed income and

The Economic Problems of Sierra Leone Essay
Sierra Leone or the Republic of Sierra Leone is West African country that borders to the north and east
with Guinea, to the southeast with Liberia, and to the west and southwest with Atlantic Ocean. It is a
beautiful country with white sand beaches, orange and coconut trees all around, and people of good
hearts; however Sierra Leone or Sa Lone in its native language, Krio, has been underdeveloped and
was struggling for many years to gain its independence as a British Colony. Even thou, now Sierra
Leone is a constitutional republic and got its independence 49 years ago, the country has been

Sierra Leonean s economy has been increasing; however it will take many years to achieve the level of
equilibrium between the demand of people s expectations and needs, and supply from the government
to fulfill all these needs. Even thou, Sierra Leone has great natural resources such as: diamonds, gold
and bauxite, the country has been struggling with a legal mining of those resources due to a power
conflict between the government and rebel s forces as well as international influence. The dependence
of Sierra Leone on more advanced countries, just like in any other example of underdeveloped
countries, has been described as: unfair exploitation of human resources, human greed and high price
to avoid starvation for Sierra Leonean nation. The relationship is based on uneven opportunities. The
advanced countries are taking advantage on their exports of products such as: rice, potatoes, or even
drinkable water to Sierra Leone in return for natural resources such as: diamonds that most of the
times are being exploited illegally or against human rights. Because Sierra Leone doesn t have money
to pay back or provide products to be exported, the country depends on the foreign aid. One of the
members of the Parliament said: Strategically, trade is the engine of growth. If Kenya has tea, Ghana
has coffee and Botswana has beef for trade, can Sierra Leone not export its cocoa and other
agricultural products to China, the EU and even to the United States? Sierra Leone s new vision

Cultural Diversity In Nursing Research
Red group, it is with respect that we disagree with your stance regarding cultural diversity and safety
in the workplace. We believe you failed to prove how culturally diverse nurses improve patient care.
Your statement By providing culturally competent care, nurses can play a large role in enhancing
patient outcomes, seems to us to be a statement, and no proof was presented as to that outcome. What
were the outcomes? Were the outcomes positive or negative? Were they patient outcomes or nursing
outcomes? There was no evidence presented to validate this statement either way. Those who are in
favor of nursing workforce diversity claim that increasing the number of minority health care workers
will enhance cultural similarity between patients and providers that will lead to improve patient care
but unfortunately it is difficult to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Your statement regarding the language barriers slowing down efficient treatment only provides proof
of our stance that BSN prepared nurses have a broader, more in depth education based in areas such as
liberal arts and instruction in community health, public health, research, nursing leadership, and
nursing management (Cowen, 2011). Thus proving our stance that education in nursing is more
important to deliver safe culturally competent patient care. Definitely, language barriers between
healthcare staff and patients can hinder appropriate delivery of care. What happens if you do not have
a nursing staff that has the same background of the patient? As a culturally competent nurse, you
know that there are other avenues to resolve that, like using a hospital interpreter in person or using a
phone line for linguistic assistance. Spector (2013) stated that the Joint Commission of Hospital
Accreditation and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services obligate that all health care

The Travels of Sir John Mandeville
The Travels of Sir John Mandeville was written in approximately 1357 and is an account of Sir John
Mandeville s 30 year odyssey throughout Europe, North Africa, the Far East, and Arabia. The Travels
was originally written in French and because of its immense popularity was translated into all major
European languages, of which three hundred survive today. The Travels became a major source for
geographical information for the next two centuries. Two notable historical figures that relied upon
Mandeville s guide were Leonardo da Vinci and Christopher Columbus. It is unknown whether Sir

These are but a few of the fantastical tales that helped mesmerize readers of the late Middle Ages.
However, Mandeville was not concerned with whether his tales were believable or not. His purpose,
more so than a guide to travel for your average citizen, was to show people that there were others in
this world with thoughts and ideas and maybe those thoughts and ideas deserved some merit.
Throughout his book, Mandeville is very specific about morals and values, especially Christian morals
and values. In Chapter 32, he tells of the Isle of Bragman and the people who live there who are not
Christians. He says In this land are no thieves, no murderers, no prostitutes, no liars, no beggars; they
are men as pure in conversation and as clean living as if they were men of religion . (p. 178)
Mandeville believed that God loved them because they were good people, despite the fact that they
were not Christians. He tells us of Christian men: Jacobites, Saracens, Surrianes, Arians, Nubians,
Indians and Georgienes who have different laws and customs, but all believe in God although their
rites and beliefs may be different than your own. Mandeville was calling on Christians to reform and
wake up! Judge not!

Greeting To An American Essay
There are certain customs based on the specific country a person should follow when entering a
country that is not familiar with them. This means that if a person is about to operate or visit a country,
they should study their specific customs so there isn t any miscommunication. For example, when
greeting someone, man to man, a handshake with the right hand is a common form and will possibly
linger a bit during the conversation. To women to women, a verbal greeting or even a handshake is
also common. Between a man and woman, verbal greetings are also welcome, along with a handshake

Thirty million dollars, that s what the German National Soccer team made last year for winning the

in the World Cup are some of the hardest working, highest paid athletes in the world. These players
are paid tremendous amounts of money by their club, their country, and FIFA. However this is not the

The FIFA Women s World Cup started in 1991 as a twelve team tournament. It has since expanded to a

Classifying Ancient Asia
Asian archaeology has distinct variety of hominid and hominoid from the Pleistocene, unusual
subsistence adaptations from the Holocene, and simple complex polities. Carl Sauer, an American
geographer, was one of the first scholars to note Asia as a source for the genesis of agriculture: some
of the earliest domesticated plants were found in Asia. The earliest pottery also appeared more than
12,000 years ago Jomon huntergatherers in Japan . Yet Asia s uniqueness does not make it
incomparable to developments elsewhere in the Old and New Worlds; understanding Asia s ancient
histories is important for the elaboration of developments across the Eurasian continent. Most Koreans
(both Northerners and Southerners) believe that their people came from a first ancestor, Tangun, who
was brought to the world by a female bear and Hwantung, the son of heaven; and the recent discovery
of the eighty six bone fragments in that date to 5001 B.P. in Pyongyang (alleged to be those of Tan gun

The Philosophies of Friedrich Nietzsche Essay
Philosophies of Friedrich Nietzsche Friedrich Nietzsche was a 19th century German philosopher and
held in regard amongst the greatest philosophers of the early part century. He sharpened his
philosophical skills through reading the works of the earlier philosophers of the 18th century such as
Immanuel Kant, John Stuart Mill, Arthur Schopenhauer and African Spir; however, their works and
beliefs were opposite to his own. His primary mentor was Author Schopenhauer, whose belief was
that reality was built on the foundation of experience. Such as it is, one of his essays, Schopenhauer

The fact that he gave up and refused to fight back gives room for more findings. He disagrees with the
Christian community for making Jesus a martyr and sees that in so doing, they had made the Christ
teachings vague. Nietzsche wrote his works in the process of rebuilding the damage caused by
Christians during the ancient days. His inclination was to show the true way in which God wanted
human beings to live as opposed to what Christians were doing. Another philosophy of Nietzsche was
related to the notion of ressentiment. Defined, ressentiment is any cautious, defeatist, or cynical
attitude based on the belief that the individual and human institutions exist in a hostile or indifferent
universe or society and an oppressive awareness of the futility of trying to improve one s status in life
or in society (dictionary.com). In the work, On the Genealogy of Morals, ressentiment is illustrated in
the way the Jewish clerics act in response to the authority of the Romans. Nietzsche states, the Jews,
that priestly people, who in opposing their enemies and conquerors were ultimately satisfied with
nothing less than a radical revaluation of their enemies values, that is to say, an act of the most
spiritual revenge. For this alone was appropriate to a priestly people, the people embodying the most
deeply repressed priestly vengefulness. The feeling of ressentiment is subconscious and communicates

Compendium Of The Social Doctrine Of Church
The right to water, as all human rights, finds its basis in human dignity and not in any kind of
quantitative assessment that considers water as a merely economic good. Without water, life is
threatened. (Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church §485). Catholic social teaching
articulates the understood principle in Catholicism that all members of the Church are called to
provide for, care for, and protect the dignity and well being of all creation, especially one s fellow
man. This comes from the recognition of every individual as being unique and important in the eyes of
God, due to being made in His image and likeness. Therefore, it is pivotal that the poor especially, and
all creation, are always accounted for in the decisions that a country makes regarding its economic and

Women s Oppression Of Women
The oppression of women is best described as a steel cage, crafted over the centuries by the hands of
patriarchal powers, enslaving flightless and chirp less birds. Birds may be benevolent and gentle, yet
they embody a power most ferocious amongst all creatures. Though, it is of no fascination as to why
women, in being similar to birds, transform from powerful peoples to frail figures. The molestation of
power from these birds is done by the hindering cage encompassing them. The thick bars of
oppression slice the wings of the benevolent beings, strip the voice of the once vociferous, and above
all destroy the benign life of the feminine. These feminine figures have the potential to provide light
when light is dark, fly the silky sky, and, of utmost importance, break free from the shackles that bear
them down. Yet, only a few women have been notably brave to do so, and thus have confronted the
powerful patriarchal powers that serve to enslave them and earned the titles of feminists. Feminism is
an evolving philosophy which serves to destroy the intellectual paradigm that women are subservient
to males by nature. Yet, although feminism is essentially a product of the contemporary world, many
figures in history have demonstrated pre feminist ethics of which has given birth to the philosophies of
modern feminism. Sophocles Antigone, although fictional, presents an anecdotal example of a
prominent proto feminist figure, the protagonist Antigone. The work is set in Ancient

for the human trafficking industry through illegal channels involving government corruption,

raiding the brothel in which 148 underage Burmese girls were housed, they were rescued then arrested

Subsequently, they were deported back to Burma, where those who tested HIV positive were claimed

February 2014 deporting 1,300 Rohingya Muslims from Thailand, an action which met with concern

the involvement of the government with the traffickers responsible for the continued repression and

  • 4. Trinity Monistic Father, Son and Holy Spirit is a common phrase in the Christian faith. Who are these people and what do they represent? These three people are separate people, but represent one God. The concept of the Trinity creates a lot of debate, because some skeptics think that the Trinity is either Monistic or Pagan. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three separate beings that represent one God, and this can be seen in different passages in the Bible. Is the Trinity Monistic or a Pagan grouping of Gods? The Trinity is not monistic because God does not reveal himself in three different forms. The Trinity is three co existing eternal persons who exist as one God. • 5. Caesar Augustus Legacy Caesar Augustus: *** What s in a name? A name is a defining characteristic of a human being. It carries with it accomplishments, traits, stories, and a legacy. When Caesar Augustus radically changed Roman civilization, he established a legacy that would far outlive him. After years of political turmoil, he brought the city and the empire from the chaos of civil war to a system of ordered and stable government (Shotter, Introduction). Along with his strong influence on government policies, his influence found its way into parts of culture such as architecture, religion, and literature as well. In doing this, Caesar Augustus created a name for himself that would transcend the ages. Augustus was born as Gaius Octavius on September 23, 63 B.C. (Richardson 4). Showing promise as young man, his great uncle, Julius Caesar, took special interest in him, giving him jobs and experience in the political world. Caesar eventually developed a relationship so close with him that he considered Octavius his adopted son (Shotter, Ch. 2). When Caesar was assassinated on the Ides of March, his murderers, Brutus and Cassius, had no plans for the future other than believing that the death of the tyrant would automatically lead to the Restorations of the Republic, and instead plunged Rome into a fresh round of civil conflict for thirteen more years (Shotter Ch. 2; Bentley et al. 223). This problem sets up the need for a political figure to fix these pressing issues, and harboring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It had created a chaotic environment for America as a whole; panic spread across the nation and many were fearful of the Axis powers. Because the government is an accurate representation of its people, the people will always reflect the behaviors of their government. Thus, nations needed to remain strong and tenacious in their efforts to support allies and defend against enemies. An effective method of doing so was through the wide use of propaganda. Through movies, animations, and formal and broadcasted speech, the United States used influential pieces ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using propaganda as a service announcement allowed the government to get money to fund the war. In junction with animated propaganda was movie based propaganda. Director Frank Capra produced seven films from 1943 to 1944, collectively called Why We Fight, portraying Germany, Italy and Japan as nations of inhuman murderers. The film was produced as a response to Leni Riefenstahl s film Triumph of the Will and had a tough time convincing non interventionist America to get involved in the war. Capra s goal was to let the enemy prove to our soldiers the enormity of his cause and the justness of ours (Wikipedia, Why We Fight). In order to persuade Americans to support the war, Capra took out many facts from the film in order to paint the Allies, especially the Soviets, as good guys. The Nazi Soviet Alliance, the Soviet s invasion of Poland, and Soviet occupation of the Baltic States were all excluded. Another form of propaganda used by Americans during World War II were speeches. One such speech, Four Freedoms, was given by Roosevelt during his 1941 State of the Union Address before the United States officially joined the war. It outlined the four freedoms that would be guaranteed to all people across the world: the freedom of speech; freedom of worship; freedom from want; and freedom from fear (Foley 58). Not only hurting the environment, but all types of animals, plants, and indigenous peoples that survive and live off of the forests. The forests we destroy day by day. For our own selfish reasons. Deforestation is a major problem in our day and age, by killing the millions of trees that live on our planet, we will kill the earth. Trees are apart of our natural environment, they produce the oxygen we all need to breathe. If we as whole continue to kill our Earth, tree by tree. We will be faced with global desertification and many other environmental problems. Deforestation occurs mainly because of the major increase economic development. The increasing production of roads, cattle farming, dams, agricultural farming, and much more. The history of land use concerning deforestation, is closely related to farming and cattle ranching. In the Amazon, cattle ranching is a major problem resulting in the increase of deforestation. Having over 200 million cattle in the Amazon, Brazil is the leading export of cattle in the world. Cattle ranching takes up a lot of space, so just think of all the millions of trees that have to be cut down to make space for these humongous ranches. It s the same thing with regular farming. The effects of nondisjunction include the following diseases: Down syndrome, Patau s syndrome, Edward s syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, and Turner s syndrome. Mendelian and non Mendelian inheritance patterns determine how certain traits are passed on to the next generation. Mendelian patterns are autosomal dominant inheritance, which causes Marfan syndrome and Huntington disease, and autosomal recessive inheritance, which causes cystic fibrosis and sickle cell disease. Non Mendelian patterns of inheritance include polygenic and mitochondrial inheritance. Polygenic inheritance is seen in the inheritance of traits like skin color and height and can cause heart diseases and cancer. In mitochondrial inheritance, also known as maternal inheritance, DNA in the mitochondria is passed down primarily from the mother. There is no single definition that encompasses all the aspects of economic development. The most comprehensive definition perhaps of economic development is the one given by Todaro: Development is not purely an economic phenomenon but rather a multi dimensional process involving reorganization and re orientation of the entire economic and social system. Development is a process of improving the quality of all human lives with three equally important aspects. These are: 1. Raising peoples living levels, i.e. incomes and consumption, levels of food, medical services, education through relevant growth processes. 2. Creating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amartya Sen defines economic development in terms of personal freedom, freedom to choose from a range of options. While economic growth may lead to an increase in the purchasing power of people, if the country has a repressed economy, there is lack of choice and hence personal freedom in restricted. Hence once again growth has taken place without any development. While economic growth may result in an improvement in the standard of living of a relatively small proportion of the population whilst the majority of the population remains poor. It is how the economic growth is distributed amongst the population that determines the level of development. Taking into consideration the trickle down theory of economics by Lewis, if the growth in economy is not sufficient to satisfy the needs and wants of the upper sections, nothing or very little shall trickle down to the lower sections in the hierarchy of society. Thus, the gap between the rich and poor widens and though economic growth has impacted a certain section of society, this cannot be considered development. Another example is an increase in the defence output of a nation, which accounts for an increased GDP but does not in any way contribute to economic development. Economic growth is not enough in itself to measure economic development as even if there has been a leap in the income of people in a particular nation, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Fifa Women s World Cup Essay Thirty million dollars, that s what the German National Soccer team made last year for winning the World Cup. The World Cup is one of the most prestigious accomplishments in any sport. The players in the World Cup are some of the hardest working, highest paid athletes in the world. These players are paid tremendous amounts of money by their club, their country, and FIFA. However this is not the only World Cup, on a different four year rotation is the FIFA Women s World Cup. The women in the World Cup are treated as inferior because of their gender in terms of payment, respect and also treated poorly by their own governing body. The FIFA Women s World Cup started in 1991 as a twelve team tournament. It has since expanded to a 24 team tournament that features tremendous athletic ability and intense competition. The United States has won the Women s World Cup three times, more than any other country, and is currently recognized by FIFA as the best team in the world. The Federation International de Football Association, FIFA, or in English the International Federation of Association Football, is the governing body of soccer and soccer related games, such as futsal and beach soccer. The earliest pottery also appeared more than 12,000 years ago Jomon huntergatherers in Japan . Yet Asia s uniqueness does not make it incomparable to developments elsewhere in the Old and New Worlds; understanding Asia s ancient histories is important for the elaboration of developments across the Eurasian continent. The Philosophies of Friedrich Nietzsche Essay Philosophies of Friedrich Nietzsche Friedrich Nietzsche was a 19th century German philosopher and held in regard amongst the greatest philosophers of the early part century. He sharpened his philosophical skills through reading the works of the earlier philosophers of the 18th century such as Immanuel Kant, John Stuart Mill, Arthur Schopenhauer and African Spir; however, their works and beliefs were opposite to his own. His primary mentor was Author Schopenhauer, whose belief was that reality was built on the foundation of experience. He disagrees with the Christian community for making Jesus a martyr and sees that in so doing, they had made the Christ teachings vague. Nietzsche wrote his works in the process of rebuilding the damage caused by Christians during the ancient days. His inclination was to show the true way in which God wanted human beings to live as opposed to what Christians were doing. Another philosophy of Nietzsche was related to the notion of ressentiment. Defined, ressentiment is any cautious, defeatist, or cynical attitude based on the belief that the individual and human institutions exist in a hostile or indifferent universe or society and an oppressive awareness of the futility of trying to improve one s status in life or in society (dictionary.com). In the work, On the Genealogy of Morals, ressentiment is illustrated in the way the Jewish clerics act in response to the authority of the Romans. Nietzsche states, the Jews, that priestly people, who in opposing their enemies and conquerors were ultimately satisfied with nothing less than a radical revaluation of their enemies values, that is to say, an act of the most spiritual revenge. For this alone was appropriate to a priestly people, the people embodying the most deeply repressed priestly vengefulness. Compendium Of The Social Doctrine Of Church The right to water, as all human rights, finds its basis in human dignity and not in any kind of quantitative assessment that considers water as a merely economic good. Without water, life is threatened. (Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church §485). Catholic social teaching articulates the understood principle in Catholicism that all members of the Church are called to provide for, care for, and protect the dignity and well being of all creation, especially one s fellow man. This comes from the recognition of every individual as being unique and important in the eyes of God, due to being made in His image and likeness. Therefore, it is pivotal that the poor especially, and all creation, are always accounted for in the decisions that a country makes regarding its economic and political future. • 36. Women s Oppression Of Women The oppression of women is best described as a steel cage, crafted over the centuries by the hands of patriarchal powers, enslaving flightless and chirp less birds. Birds may be benevolent and gentle, yet they embody a power most ferocious amongst all creatures. Though, it is of no fascination as to why women, in being similar to birds, transform from powerful peoples to frail figures. The molestation of power from these birds is done by the hindering cage encompassing them. The thick bars of oppression slice the wings of the benevolent beings, strip the voice of the once vociferous, and above all destroy the benign life of the feminine. These feminine figures have the potential to provide light when light is dark, fly the silky sky, and, of utmost importance, break free from the shackles that bear them down. Yet, only a few women have been notably brave to do so, and thus have confronted the powerful patriarchal powers that serve to enslave them and earned the titles of feminists. Feminism is an evolving philosophy which serves to destroy the intellectual paradigm that women are subservient to males by nature. Yet, although feminism is essentially a product of the contemporary world, many figures in history have demonstrated pre feminist ethics of which has given birth to the philosophies of modern feminism. After raiding the brothel in which 148 underage Burmese girls were housed, they were rescued then arrested as illegal immigrants even though the girls claimed to have been forced or tricked into practicing sex.
