Critical Analysis of China s Economy
Abstract
The economy of China has been on the rise at a rapid rate for more than three decades. Most of this
growth higher productivity of labor highly contributed to this economic growth. On the contrary, as
the economy widens, rate of employment diminishes along with a steady increase of the youth
population. This paper focuses on understanding the efforts that led to the growth as well as the
setbacks that China might encounter over the coming years. The challenge would be to maintain its
rapid leap of economic growth. Key questions consist ofhow China will sustain its investments;
whether these investments will lose productivity as the labor capital ratio keeps on rising, whether
employment rates will sustain urban migration. In the bottom line scenario, growth of the economy
falls steadilyat a rate of six and a half percent by the year 2030 from the current ten percent
(Chowand Kui Wai 146).
History of China s Economic Presentation
China led the global technological and fields in the industrialization era . It is believed that China s
economy made its peak in the Song Dynasty. In this era, China had the supreme technologies
(Needham and Ronan 143), the utmost rate of urbanization, the largest iron production and
ultimately the leadingstate economy globally (Carsten 146). However, between 1500 and 1800,
Western Europe took the lead from China. Some economists and historians attach China s downfall

The Film Analysis Of The Movie The Patriot
The Patriot
The Patriot is known as this action packed, adventurous movie, and most americans have
watched this movie despite the fact of its inaccuracies, also depicting america as great and the
british as bad. This movie takes place in 1776, this was before the declaration of independence
was signed and a idea was proposed about breaking away from the king and initiating a new nation
was great but arguable. Not all the americans wanted to be independent from Great Britain, there
was separation between the rebels and the colonials ,the rebels that wanted have to freedom and the
Colonials that wanted to stay faithful to the king, america was nowhere near to united. The boston
incident turned into a civil war. Later on, loyalists saw the british military as a authorized army,
therefore loyalists joining the army because they were nationalistic like the rebels. However, in the
movie they point out one loyalist because in the movie The Patriot they depict the americans in a
positive light because if they stuck to true history they couldn t do that and would make the
americans look bad.
The filmmakers modified the history to put them in positive light for example they created this
American hero named Benjamin Martin they depict him to be this heroic, flawless hero but in fact
he is not even a person in history he is a made up fictional character based on francis marion and
made up of other historical figures. Furthermore, they showed america united when in fact they were

The On The Other Hand, Parole, By De Saussure
On the other hand, parole refers to the use of the langue the action in and of itself. It occurs in the
phenomenon of language as a sequence of speech. Parole, which includes both written and spoken
languages utilized in everyday life, is extremely diverse and varied dependent upon the number of
people attempt to use a common language. In addition, de Saussure noted the constant change that
parole undergoes as social groups, and age of users manipulate the language over time.
De Saussure s interpretation of the underlying basis of language also included a composition of
signs as opposed to sentences. Signs consist of two parts: a notion and a sound/written pattern.
Without a sound, the notion is incommunicable. Similarly, without a notion, sound patterns are just
noise. Without a comprehensive understanding of langue, parole is a meaningless collection of
sounds or symbols grouped together at random. By understanding the relationship between the two
parts of a sign, langue and parole create meaning. Therefore, de Saussure spoke heavily on the
importance of understanding the langue of a language, especially a foreign one, than to grow the
vocabulary of parole. By approaching a nonnative language as such, the speaker increases his or her
ability to make sense equal to that of a native speaker. Language acts as a link that allows thought to
be expressed through sound. As thoughts become more coherent, thus leading to the creation of
sounds in words and phrases, language

The Synoptic Gospels Of Matthew, Mark, And Luke
Many scholars and philosophers find themselves troubled when trying to make sense of the
Synoptic Gospels found in The Holy Bible. These include The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and
Luke. When looking at them side by side readers will see that they have many differences and
similarities. This has resulted in what is called The Synoptic Problem; that is, how do we account
for these similarities and differences? Scholars have come up with an applicable solution called the
four source solution Theory. This theory proposes that The Gospel of Markwas the first Gospel
written and among the sources that Matthew and Luke used but, there are stories in Matthew and
Luke that are not parallel to anything in Matthew. Where did these stories come from? Scholars
call this the Q Source, a probable oral or written account that the authors of Matthew and Luke
may have used in their writing of their Gospels. Ehrman describes The Q Source as, The source
used by both Matthew and Luke for the stories they share, principally stories not found in Mark.

Some of these include, Jesus speaking on his way to his crucifixion and speaking to a group of
women. (Luke 23:28) Another example in the Gospel of Luke, is that Jesus is not as silent as the
other Gospels portray him to be during his time of crucifixion. While being crucified he asks
God to forgive those that are doing him wrong and speaks to a criminal being crucified beside
him. He tells the man, Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise. (Luke 23:42) One
last example is the sun eclipse and torn curtain of the temple, directly after the death of Jesus.
(Luke 23:45) These are just some of the sole differences that show up only in Luke. This would
back up the statement that besides the Q source and Mark, Luke would have had other source(s) as

American English As A Second Language Essay
The American English is used a lot around here, people who come to the U.S, they would have to
learn to speak English. The United States have mixtures of many different cultures, such as Central
Americans, Southeast Asia, and Middle Eastern; between these foreigners they all have to
communicate some way because every day here in the United Statesthey will cross each other and
will have to communicate. It is troublesome for the foreigners to live in the United States,
because they are not from here so they have to make a great effort to adjust in the U.S. The
foreigners come to the U.S to get a better future for themselves and for their children. It is
difficult for them to adapt to life here and English as their second language because it is very
different to learn something that you are use too. English being the second language, there is a
high percentage to have an accent; even those who are born here that have parents that were
born in another region. In our everyday life, we will cross with other people who speak with
other languages where we will have to communicate and be expressing what are we trying to say
by body language for instance, the way we express the wording, and trying to have to figure out
what one needs. Not only language and categorize one is stereotyping as well
Language is used to form a sensation and a reflection into the mind, a fundamental trait by how one

DBQ Essay On New Year s Resolutions
As you say goodbye to one year and hello to another, people all around the world welcome one
more thing, New Year s resolutions. New Year s has been a source of celebration for almost
4,000 years. While it now falls on the first of January, it was initially celebrated on the first new
moon following the vernal equinox by the Babylonians. A huge festival known as Akitu was then
celebrated to mark the new yearalong with celebrating the mythical victory of the sky god Marduk
(Source D). The celebrations and meanings of the celebrations have changed over these years, but
some traditions do remain. The Ancient Babylonians made these promises to earn favors with the
gods and to the start the year out well (Source D). Today, people no longer make... Show more

Research done by psychologist John Norcross found that only forty percent of the people who
made New Year s resolutions kept them after six months (Source A). In his research, he seems to
say that this is the reason resolutions are pointless. If you take a more optimistic look at these
numbers, that is a large number of people who are actually making a positive change to their
lives. He shows that after two years the numbers are even lower with only nineteen percent
following their resolutions (Document A) Again, the eighty one percent failures are
disappointing, but the nineteen percent of success may be life changing for people. Even a small
resolution, like having a protein shake once a week, can make someone happier and feel a real
sense of accomplishment. New Year s resolutions, when they are achieved or at least attempted,
give people a goal and a chance to make an important change. This encourages people to feel
hopeful about a goal, whether it is losing weight, eating better, or improving grades. Again, people
will point out the disappointment that people may feel if they fail to follow through with their
resolution. Although that may occur, the happiness that will result from achieving a goal will be very

In this study we will investigate and compare two types of course sections. One section will be
online and the other will be face to face. The investigators will analyze gender, age and learning
styles. These groups will be evaluated on how effective they were in completing the tasks of the
course. The two sections will be taught in the same semester and use the same instructional
material. In this paper, the investigators determined that there were no significant differences in test

From these research questions several hypotheses have aspired answers:
Between these two groups, no significant difference is perceived in the effectiveness of these
instructional learning styles.
There are no significant differences between the styles of instructional learning in the competencies
of this course to either group. There are no differences between the test scores and final grades for
either group.
There is no difference between the effectiveness that was perceived from the courses from either
group.
Student Selection The study selections for students were open to different ages and gender. The
course outline was the same FTF as for the OL course. The demographics for these groups show
that the students registered for the OL classes were a little older than the students registered in the
FTF class (Diaz Cartnal, 1999). Each group would be given the same instructional course outline,
test, and final project. A variable that might affect this study is whether a student selects an OL
course over an FTF course due to their experience with technology. The demographics for this
group ranges with experience with technology are as followed:

Age Related Macular Degeneration Essays
Review: Age related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of blindness in people
over the age of 50. Every ten years after the age of 50 the prevalence of this disease increases
exponentially. Many different factors contribute to the development of AMD including genetic,
environment, and metabolic functions. Aside from smoking, abnormal blood pressure, and an
unhealthy diet low in fruits and vegetables, many more studies are concluding that similar
inflammatory and oxidative processes seen in other age related diseases are also playing a key
role in the development of AMD. This disease affects the central areas of the retinaand choroid. In

Dry Macular Degeneration: The early and most common form of AMD is called dry (atrophic) or
nonneovascular macular degeneration. About 90% of AMD cases are known to be in this form.
This form does not involve abnormal blood vessels and or leaking of fluid. Vision impairments
are still great and potential of complete vision loss is still possible. People affected by dry AMD
experience central vision impairments, limited area of central vision, and limited vision when in
areas of reduced light. Dry AMD is thought to be the result of the retina breaking down because of
the formation of deposits, known as drusen, under the macula. The macula is a small area within
the retina that is responsible for central vision. It s believed that these deposits interfere with
vitamin transport, oxygen transport, and waste removal in the aged eye directly affecting the
macula causing it to thin and dry out, losing its function. Depending on how severe this thinning
and degeneration of the retina is, vision impairments will vary. Macular degeneration in its early
stages is associated with minimal vision impairments, large drusen, and other pigmentary
abnormalities in the macula. Drusen are deposits of fatty proteins that accumulate below the
basement membrane of the retinal pigment epithelium. People over the age of 50 years have at
least one small hard drusen in one or both eyes. People with large, soft drusen are the ones at high
risk for AMD. Hard

What Is A Non Traditional Family
It takes a village to raise a child is an African proverb that means a lot to me. Some families are
not traditional, meaning there may be only one parent in the home. I am a part of a non

moments when I wished both my parents were in the home, I have had the benefit of being

The Impact Of Catcalling
Imagine walking down the street during summer in a summer dress and passing by a man you
do not know suddenly uttered Hey beautiful! What would you feel about it? What would you
do? Catcalling is a serious social issue encountered today especially by women. It is a harsh or
shrill call or whistle expressing derision or disapproval according to the dictionary. Today, it may
sound more like a compliment rather than disapproval. But, catcalls are not compliments at all
because they are usually done by strangers in an aggressively sexual manner. They are creepy and
can cause fear because they tend to grab an unsuspecting womans attention for fun and
entertainment. Although it may depend on one s delivery and intention due to the difference
between a polite greeting and a catcall (Aquino, 2014). Catcalls are usually ignored by women
today to prevent the cause of tension between them and catcallers. However, awarenessabout its
damaging effects is being raised because of the portrayal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Others could hardly believe that it was an issue, but actually it is. Posters and websites are being
made to help raise awareness and to empower women s rights. Earlier petitions that were made were
ignored due to the history that women were inferior to men. But today, the continuing empowerment
of women has created great opportunities for them to reopen the petition. Women s actions towards
this might be ignoring something about what they have heard, talking back, and maybe telling the
authorities about their encounters. Most women feel being disrespected by the opposite sex,
anxious and angry that triggers them sometimes to have low self esteem. The main point of this
street harassment is that not all women feels happy about this but rather they feel quite the
opposite. This might be a compliment to others but this is not the right way to catch women s

Analysis Of Dell s Marketing Strategy
During the early 1990s, computer industry developed rapidly. With the entrance of Dell, the
dynamic structure in the industry changed. Between 1994 and 1998, Dell s growth was twice as
fast as its major rivals (IBM, Compaq, Gateway, and Hewlett Packard). Dell provides high
performance PCs at low prices. Its competitive advantage is mainly established by the innovation
of the Direct Model and other firm level strategies that enable Dell to utilize its resources and build
up its capabilities more efficiently.
1. Industry Analysis through Porter s Five Forces
New Entrants: Moderate. The capital investment requirements are high. Large players derived
extensive benefits from the economies of scale. Product differentiation in terms of product itself is
low, as hardware and software used are almost universal. Product differentiation in terms of brand is
high due to the firm s marketing efforts. Incumbents have more established and recognized brands.
As new players enter, existing players are likely to retaliate. The industry links closely with the
supplier, and require efficient distribution channel, hence the requirement in access to channels is
high. Large firms are tend to have better connection to various channels.
Substitute: Relatively low. In the computer industry, the existence of close substitutes is very low.

Essay on The Influence of Ethics on Decision Making
The Influence of Ethics on Decision Making
Ethics can have a big influence on decision making in the workplace. Ethical behavior in the
workplace is behavior that is accepted as morally right, rather than wrong. (Organizational
Behavior). Unethical behavior can be considered illegal, or merely against the norms of society.
Employees encounter ethical decisions every day in the workplace, whether they realize it or not.
The stock boy must make a decision on whether it is right to steal merchandise. The auto
mechanic must make a decision on what is a fair price to charge a gullible customer. The CEO
must decide how to use all the power he or she possesses. There are many different thinking about

The Impact of Technology on Work Related Stress
Technology can have a great impact on work related stress. Technology can both increase and
decrease work related stress, depending on how it is used. Many people feel stress in the work
environment when change is introduced. When basic tasks or structures in the workplace change,
it often goes hand in hand with changes in technology. (Organizational Behavior). Employees
then experience stress because of the change in the way things are done, or frustration because
they don t understand how to properly utilize that technology to their advantage. This can happen
with almost any new technology, from a new computer tracking system to a new cash register at
a supermarket. However, sometimes technology can ease work related stress, because it can
make doing a job easier than before that technology was available in the workplace. A good
example of technology easing workplace stress is faxes that come straight to an employee s email.
That way, the employee can keep a record of the fax in his or her computer, and doesn t have to
wait by a community fax machine for an important paper to come in.

Chemical Effects On Humans And Society
Many hormonal chemicals alter or block other organism s hormones, and one of these hormonal
chemicals is Endocrine disrupting chemicals known as EDCs. (Trachsel, 2008) thus, these
chemicals are often known to be agents that are foreign to an organism system, a xenobiotic.
(Trachsel, 2008) mainly found in aquatic environments, EDCs have a handful of harm effects on
animals, humans and the ecosystem in general, which differs in the way they are regulated
(homeostasis) due to the natural occurring hormones in animals or human bodies being eliminated

Analysis Of John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath
John Steinbeck was born in 1902 in Salinas, California. After he graduated high school, he
attended Stanford University, but never graduated. In 1925 Steinbeck went to New York to
establish himself as a free lance writer for a little while, but it didn t work out so he went back
to California. He published a few short stories and novels for a while. Then in 1935 he was
discovered with Tortilla Flat, a series of humorous stories. Steinbeck s novels are based on
economic problems of labor. After the humorous Tortilla Flat, Steinbeck decided to write a more

Intellectual Property Interconnected Digital World
Intellectual Property in an Interconnected Digital World Introduction
The concept of intellectual property, copyrights, and patents has been around for many years. The
ancient Greeks had already started to attribute authorship of works to individuals. The purpose is to
encourage people to make new inventions by rewarding them with the exclusive right to own their
ideas. Laws have been made to prohibit people from taking other people s ideas unlawfully (i.e.,
stealing) and in general, these laws have been successful in preventing the crime before it is done,
and punishing the criminals after it is done. However, in recent years, the new phenomena of the
Internet and digital technology will change both the concept of intellectual ... Show more content on

It is not hard to prove that an object belongs to its rightful owner, and therefore, it is not much
more difficult to tell when someone takes other people s physical property. In other words, it is
relatively easy to tell if someone is stealing an intellectual property when stealing a physical object
is involved.
It is also very easy to see a violation of intellectual property law when someone makes an obvious
effort that shows his intention of stealing. If a person joins a high tech company to be part of the
chip design team and then five months later leaves the company to join a competitor which
suddenly releases a similar product with a similar bug, it will not be long until the former
company files a trade secret lawsuit against that person. Even though we cannot see or prove the
actual action of stealing, we are able to deduct that that person is stealing just by observing what he
did.
These factors that help us determine if a violation has been committed are useless in the new
realm of the Internet and digital technology. Once converted to digital format, ideas that took
form of writing and music are now just a sequence of zeros and ones. They do not have a
physical form at all and become very abstract. It is hard to determine what belongs to who when
the object is very abstract. Even if we agree that a specific sequence of binaries belong to its owner,
it is virtually impossible

Change In Society
A great leader once said, I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin,
but by the content of their character (Martin Luther King Jr.). As society continues to expand, the
tension between differences inflates even more, causing people to conceal their true self.
Although people are able to be who they desire to be, justice continues to be ignored towards
many groups of people all over the world. In order for people to protect themselves from the
judgement of society and fit into the social norm, many people will obscure their true identity,
affecting them in ways they never imagined.
One of the most common reasons that people hide their true identity is to avoid ridicule from the
community. Even though there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This act of denying their wrongs showed how changes in society could have happened, but since
social stigmas are strong, people obscured themselves. Another example of people hiding
themselves from the tension of change can be seen in the book To Kill a Mockingbird by
Harper Lee. Dolphus Raymond, a wealthy white man who lives with his black mistress and
mulatto children, portrays a type of person who uses a different personality to mask himself.
While talking to Scout, Dill, and Jem, Dolphus says, It ain t honest, but it s mighty helpful to
folks. Secretly, Miss. Finch, I m not much of a drinker, but you see, they could never, never
understand that I live like I do because that s the way I want to live (Lee 268). Pretending to be
something else in a world that is judgmental is not hard for many people and it can or cannot
affect the person. In this case, Dolphus does not mind hiding his true self because of the thoughts
people would have towards him. After Scout questions him on why he would cry if he were
younger, he replies, Cry about the simple hell people give other people without even thinking. Cry
about the hell white people give colored people, without even stopping to think they re people
too (Lee 269). Although it is ironic that Dolphus, a drunk minded person, would care about such
a serious topic since he is not any different than people in society. Many individuals are very
aware and hesitant of the judgement that could occur if they changed their morale or way of life;
in turn prohibiting the chance for changes in society. While To Kill a Mockingbird is set in the
1930s, there is still racism happening today. For example, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender
people really struggle. A young male living in Charlotte, North Carolina, named Brandon, identifies
as bisexual

Analysis Of The Santa Ana And Linda Thomas s Brush Fire
Joan Didion in her essay, The Santa Ana and Linda Thomas in her essay, Brush Fire describes the
Santa Ana in two opposing stands with similar moves. Didion s purpose in writing her essay for
the Santa Ana is to inform her readers. She informs them about the Santa Ana, the effect the winds
have on human behavior, and how they have to live with the Santa Ana. Thomas writes her essay
to engage readers on the Santa Ana s effect on brushes. She gives details on how the Santa Ana
causes natural brush fires and the beauty it is able to create in the aftermath.
Early in the essay, Didion had established her credibility towards the Santa Ana, proving that the
facts she is stating about the disastrous winds are factual throughout the essay. ... Show more

Some plants in the chaparral such as padre s staff require the heat of a flame to crack open their

Human Resources Are Responsible For Making And Driving...
1.1
A number of Human Resources objectives support organisational goals, such as profitability,
business reputation, ethics and principles according to Mayhew, R. (2014).
Human Resources are responsible for making and driving decisions to assist with the strategy of
their organisation. Each individual organisation will have their own mission and vision statements
which will outline the short term and long term objectives of the organisation and HR are
responsible for helping to successfully reach those goals.
Managing change and implementing new ideas, methods and strategies are responsibilities of the

Within this era of the HR Function it would have been common practice for HR to handle
recruitment, training and to deal with trade unions.
Resources is a term used to describe the HR function towards the end of the 20th century as more
focus was given to non monetary factors for workers rather than wages as motivators to increase
productivity. There was also more focus on training and development and upskilling to get the
most out the workforce. This would play as a motivator to the employee and would be a cost
saving exercise for the business also.
Valuable Assets is a term used to describe the current HR Function due to the added responsibility
and power the function now has in addition to the Resources term of the HR Function. This is
based partly on the advancement of technology and globalisation. The current HR Function also
specialise in fostering a culture in organisations and shaping strategies to assist organisations in

Review Of The Of Jesus Christ

Short essay 2 on Christology
For as long as 2000 years millions have asserted Jesus as their rescuer and staked their lives and
their endlessness on His promises. In the story of Jesus Christ is a falsehood then it is
impressively the best and most preposterous scam to ever deify itself and pressure humankind.
However, in the event that it is true, we must choose the option to consider Him important,
neglecting to do as such could cost you everything. Eventually in each of our lives we must face
the subject of Jesus Christ. [1]
It appears that the contentions against Jesus deity are far more noteworthy; nonetheless, there are
some who might argue against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A more dubious and fervently argument is over Jesus deity. Many commentators will inside and out
deny Jesus as God; also, some Christians will deny His divinity too. Some will go similarly as
saying that He was an extraordinary instructor or an ethical man, yet not God. C.S. Lewis addresses
this issue by expressing: A man who was merely a man and said the things Jesus said would not be
a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic on the level with a man who says he is a
poached egg or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man
was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool;
you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God
[2]
The Old Testament anticipated the coming of Jesus in more than 100 particular predictions, which
Jesus satisfied, having no human control to do as such with such accuracy whether
circumstantially or purposefully. In the New Testament, Jesus claimed to be God. These cases
were unmistakably comprehended by His crowd. Along these lines affecting charges of obscenity,
irate responses, endeavors at stoning Him, and eventually His crucifixion. The most strong and
direct claim of holiness can be found in John 8:58 , before Abraham was born, I am! This verse

Moses, the correlation confronts the phonetic

Cheerleading Budget
This report is organized by beginning with the breakdown of the University of South Florida
intercollegiate athletics budget, then by describing particular aspects that have an impact on the
cheerleading program as a whole.
Within the Universities operating budget for the 2016 2017 school year a breakdown of the
athletics budget is available. The University provides 2.37% of its $1,695,827,240 budget (
Operating Budget ). This is $40,140,918 for the entire USF system, which is then broken down into
different aspects such as athletics administration, event management, marketing, business offices,
and the enrichment center ( Operating Budget ). The remainder is then distributed between athletic
teams including coaching salary, game ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One member of the team, Michaels Jones, tells us this, and explains how difficult it is to fit these
fundraisers into her already busy schedule. Having the cheerleaders, and band at football games is
an important part of the atmosphere and is one aspects many students consider when choosing a
school.
Scholarships are something that are often associated with the thought of college athletics, and are
used as a way to bring individuals to a particular university. These are an important part of
building a team of the best athletes possible. At the University of South Florida, scholarship
opportunities for cheerleaders are very minimal. With $24,000 yearly given to this team for this
purpose, $500 maximum is available to each student ( Operating Budget ). Due to this lack of
funding, many members of the team must have outside jobs in order to make do throughout the
school year. Having a job, as well as participating in the 25+ hours of cheerleading related activities,
and maintaining eligibility GPA can put a large strain on the athlete ( USF Spirit Squads ).
Recruitment budget is also an important aspect of continual growth of a team and a way to bring
new students to the university. Third year veteran, Michaela Jones, provided insight into the
recruitment aspect of USF

understand where Sanders is coming from, his childhood memory is vast of struggle and he s
noticed during his campaign run the large amounts of money being invested in each candidate. He
seeks for America being how it was first was with the public doing all the investments and not
these largely owned corporations and lobbying voters which have been already have a vote

This has almost succeeded in the past and is known as the Buckley V. Valeo case in 1976. The
case struck down on the limits of spending in campaigns, but upheld the provision limiting size of
each individual s contributions to the campaigns. President Gerald Ford has vetoed the bill and had

Essay on Hero-Anti Hero
Superman, Wonder Woman, Spiderman what do all these characters have in common? They
are all products of the human aspiration to be saved. The word hero is passed around too much
these days. A hero is not a football player that scores the game winning touchdown or the
goaltender who saves his team from a loss. A hero is usually an ordinary person that did
extraordinary things. A true hero is really never a hero at all; at least not in their own mind.
However, there are various cases today in which we see the exact opposites of these characters,
the anti heroes. The anti hero is one who cannot be classified as a hero, for that said character
lacks natural heroic qualities. However, the anti hero cannot be described as a villain either.... Show

On his 40th Labor Day telethon in 2005, Jerry Lewis added Salvation Army fundraising for
Hurricane Katrina to his usual Muscular Dystrophy Assosiation fundraising, though he also
encouraged viewers to give to the American Red Cross. Not all of what Jerry Lewis has done has
been good, but no hero is perfect. Aside from controversy from the community of disabled people
with comments he has made, Jerry Lewis can still be considered a hero for the great charitable
work he has done for the benefit of others.
A reasonable example for an anti hero could be Al Capone. Despite the common image that is
portrayed in society of Al Capone, there was some that Capone did as good for others during the
Depression. Part of the reason Capone was taken to task in this way was his status as a celebrity.
Capone often tried to suppress his image and be seen as a community leader. For instance, he
started a program to fight rickets by providing a daily milk ration to Chicago school children. Also
during the Great Depression, he attempted to open up many soup kitchens for the poor and
homeless. Although most of the money he used to do this may have been related to his selling or
gang violence, or even his bootlegging of liqour, he still attempted using some of it for a good
cause. He acquired a great deal of appreciation from abounding poor persons in Chicago for his
blatant disregard of the Prohibition law that they loathed. He was percepted

book. I was 14 then. The book was intended to empower girls to stop waiting for disinterested

They say so because although it seems that the guy gave the girl the control of the situation, in
reality of the authors world, this means that HE gets to choose whether to pick up her call or not.
However on planet Earth, the girl could have just called to fix a date.
And then there were dodgy suggestions like how a woman should never ever ask a man out because
men are conditioned to lead. The guy could be as unsure of your feelings as you are of his, or he
could be shy! I say WHY NOT ask a man out!
Many women play the martyr in relationships with men who don t treat them well because many
women feel so devoted to their partners that they are afraid of losing them. They sometimes delude
themselves with fantasies about why the partner still loves them despite all the signs pointing
otherwise. This isn t gender specific! Guys are just as delusional as women when in love! They too
would try to save the relationship by playing the martyr .
Real life is not so black and white, and this highly sexist, misogynistic book assumes that it is.
Unluckily, relationships are perilously perched in the grey and that s what makes them hard and
complicated. We are humans after all. We hurt and shape each other all the time. It is unfair to hold
men responsible for initiating all hetero relationships, casual or serious. Men are equally affected by
work pressure, family environment and heartbreaks!

This experiment was performed in order to help in the learning of the different types of reactions.
Through this experiment we also learned about precipitates: these are the solids that form during

experiments put all into one class activity. We hypothesized that each of these experiments will
give us either a synthesis or single replacement reaction. The variables weren t that hard to

products of the reaction. The safety hazards were upped because we were dealing with harmful

Silver nitrate and copper metal led to the formation of silver precipitate. We also observed a
color change towards the bottom where the copper was located. These results support that the
type of reaction was single replacement. The second experiment with hydrochloric acid was an
example of decomposition. We observed that the substance started to bubble and so a gas was
produced. In the third experiment Iron oxide was formed. We observed rust on the outside as a
result of the oxygen combing with the iron. This can best be described as synthesis. In the next
experiment we discovered that calcium chloride and magnesium Sulfate produce a substance that
looks like milk after it foams. As a result, we contemplated that this was an example of double
replacement. In reaction 5 with Zinc and hydrochloric acid we saw that the new product was
introduced through bubbling. So we decided that this was single replacement. The final experiment
was the easiest experiment in my opinion. Closing the candle stick and flame with a beaker resulted
in visible smoke. In conclusion, we agreed that this reaction was combustion. We observed that

Historical Background Of The Era Essay
The Historical background of the era According to Evans, Marissa K. Apartheid is the name of the
racial institution that was established in 1948 by the National Party that governed South Africa
until 1994. The term, which literally means apartness, reflected a violently repressive policy
designed to ensure that whites, who comprised 20% of the nation s population, would continue to
dominate the country. Although the policy began officially in 1948, the practice of racial
discrimination has deep roots in South African society. As early as 1788, Dutch colonizers began
establishing laws and regulations that separated white s settlers and native Africans. These laws and
regulations continued after the British occupation in 1795, and soon led to the channeling of
Africans into specific areas that would later constitute their s0 called homelands. By 1910 the year
that all of the formerly separate Boer Republics united with the British colony to become the Union
of South Africa, there were nearly 300 reserves for natives throughout the country. By 1948, Dr.
D.F. Malan, the prime architect of apartheid, led the National Party in the first campaign that
centered on openly racist appeals to white unity. The Party promised that if elected it would make
permanent these reserves under the joint fundamental principles of separation and trusteeship. The
National Party swept into office, winning 80 seats (mainly from Afrikaner voters), Compared to the

allegiance to his moral code above his romantic impulses. Your comrades and your moral code are
more important than your physical gratification. It is a lesson that I believe many of us have

Since Hammett was a real life detective, he had first hand experience on how detectives act and
talk. The Maltese Falcon s full of slang words, and has a sharp rhythm and biting tone in the
dialogue. The author s extensive familiarity with detective work allows him to effectively create
an overall dark and cynical tone. This can be seen in the passage where Hammett is describing
different noises: a telephone ringing in the darkness, bedsprings creaking, fingers fumbling
against the wood, something thudding on the carpet, and finally a man s voice. This detailed

antisocial personality disordertypically have no regard for right and wrong, and often disregard the

Hyler, Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center, for better or worse,
movies and television contribute significantly to shaping the public s perception of the mentally
ill and those who treat them. This is to say that the media we are exposed to on a near constant
basis perpetuates certain stereotypes, including (and perhaps particularly) when it comes to
mental patients and psychopathology at large, usually portraying them as rebellious spirits,
homicidal maniacs, seductresses, enlightened members of society, narcissistic parasites, or zoo
specimens. Now, as far as Lecter himself is concerned, he would seem to fit into more than one
of these categories; the argument can certainly be made for at least two of them. First and
foremost, it should be said that Lecter is, out and out, the homicidal maniac in spite of his
charming and personable demeanor, he is both a criminal and murderer who tortures and kills
people with no pity or remorse. However, amongst the other zoo specimens in the facility, Lecter
himself, at a glance, also seems to be enlightened not just for his higher class sophisticate nature,
but because of his unique insight; that which allows him to understand those around him better

The Assassination Of Wwii And The World
On July 20, 1944, a group of high ranking German military officials attempted to carry out one of
the most daring assassination plots in history, which, had it been successful, might have changed
the course of WWII and the world. On that fateful day, a young staff officer, Colonel Claus Schenk
Graf Von Stauffenberg planted a bomb in the Wolfsschanze (Wolf s lair), the Prussian field
headquarters of Third Reich Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler, who was meeting with his generals, in an
attempt to assassinate him and bring peace to warring Europe. The conspirators involved in the
plot were driven by a patriotic desire to save Germany from absolute destruction in what had been
deemed a hopeless war. Colonel von Stauffenberg and his cohorts recognized that the only way to
achieve this was to take the life of the Fuhrer, seize control of the government, and then attempt to
forge peace with the Western allies. Despite a meticulously planned coup, a single unforeseen
action by one of the attending colonels destroyed all hopes of negotiating a peaceful resolution of
the war and forever changed the course of history. Hitler survived the bombing attempt, exacting
revenge on all those involved, and the war raged on for one more brutal year. The internal
assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944 failed because the plotters, Stauffenberg,
Olbricht, Oster, and many others did not consider the possibility of an adverse result, acting with
overzealous confidence, and poor communication

Global Economy Is Finally Stabilizing Following The Global...
The global economy is finally stabilizing following the global financial crisis and Great
Recession. Our base case outlook for average annual real growth between 2015 and 2020 is
between 3 and 4 percent Lower global commodity prices are an important factor supporting
stronger economic growth. Although economies that are dependent on commodity exports may
suffer, lower input prices for industry as well as lower fuel prices for households will provide a
boost to aggregate demand and global growth. We expect emerging economies to continue to grow
by more than 4 percent (contributing $16.2 trillion to global growth through 2020 at market
exchange rates), while the growth rate of advanced economies is forecast to exceed 2 percent
(contributing $13.5 trillion through 2020) for the first time since 2010. The United States is
leading the recovery among advanced markets, and we expect the country to be a significant
contributor to global growth through 2020. However, we anticipate economic performance to
continue to diverge within both the emerging and developed market groupings based on key policy
choices, as governments grapple with structural reforms in the context of reduced fiscal and
monetary stimulus. In this regard, strong leadership and bold government actions will determine
whether national economies can escape from the new mediocre of stable but low growth. Australia
resources industry (BHP) Australia has a rich haven of resources in the oil, gas and energy
industries.

The Historical Roles Of The Hebrews As A Monotheistic God
The Hebrews served a monotheistic God, who they called Yahweh. He is an all powerful and non
human like being. They believed he made them in his image and gave them dominion over the
earth. Their God was unlike any other gods at the time because he was friendly, compassionate,
forgiving and all powerful. Godgave the Hebrews structure, a background, hope, and purpose.
Every society needs rules to protect and keep the community in line. God gave Moses the ten
commandmentswhich they lived on.1 The Hebrews created the Biblea sacred book containing their
lives and relationships with God. The Bible gave the Hebrews an understanding of how the world
and humankind emerged. They also believed in an afterlife. Heaven for people who lived a
righteous life and Hell for people who lived an unholy life in the eyes of God. So the Hebrews had
a set of laws follow and hopes to believe in. This unified the Hebrews because they had the same
goals, beliefs and obligation to suppress their desires for the well being of God and their society.
Historical context The Hebrews came from the lineage of Abraham. Abraham was a man of a
monotheistic God. He was promised a nation by his God. The Hebrews were traders and herders
that communicated in Hebrew. They originated in East Asia, but moved to Canaan their
promised land. Canaan is modern era Lebron, Israel, and Jordan. They lived there for a hundred
years. After a hundred years they experienced a drought that caused a famine so they moved to
Egypt for refuge. The Hebrews suffered in Egypt because many of their people were in enslaved
and forced into hard labor. They were led into freedom with the help of Moses and Joshua. So they
returned to Canaan. The Hebrews fought to take back their land, but they we successful. 2
Adam and Eve The Hebrew God was so merciful. In the beginning of the Bible, we learned that the
first human was created from dust. God gave him everything he needed to survive and later a

The Effects Of The Speciation Of WO3 Species
The speciation of WO3 species and the effect of B2O3 on the coordination states of WO3
species were surveyed by the UV vis DRS technique, and the results are shown in Fig 6. All the
spectra were obtained by deducting the spectrum of the support UiO 66. For comparison, the
UV vis DRS spectrum of bulk WO3 is also presented, exhibiting a strong absorption band at 450
nm with a weak shoulder at 360 nm, accompanied by relatively weaker bands at 230 and 280 nm
(Fig. 6A a), and these bands are attributed to crystalline WO3, isolated WO4 tetrahedral species,
and isolated or low condensed oligomeric tungsten oxide species in octahedral coordination,
respectively. Compared to bulk WO3, different WO3/UiO 66 samples absorbed at 230, 280, and

XPS measurement was used to investigate the chemical state of the tungsten and boron species
in 40 wt% WO3/UiO 66 and 15 wt% B2O3 40 wt% WO3/UiO 66 samples. Fig. 7(A) shows the W
4f XPS spectrum and the curve fitting result of 40 wt% WO3/UiO 66 sample. Tungsten species
appear in two different states in 40 wt% WO3/UiO 66 material. The peaks with the binding
energies at 35.3 and 37.5 eV are associated with W5+ species, whereas the peaks at 34.6 and 36.8
eV can be assigned to W6+ species. The corresponding results for 15 wt% B2O3 40 wt% WO3
/UiO 66 sample are shown in Fig. 7(B). The XPS spectrum of 15 wt% B2O3 40 wt% WO3/UiO
66 material appears to be same as that of 40 wt% WO3/UiO 66 material and shows identical
positions for the W4f peaks, except for the minor charging effect. Both W5+ and W6+ species
are detected; however, the molar ratio of W6+/W5+ calculated according to the relative peak
intensity of W4f increases from 2.1 to 2.2 (Table 2) after the introduction of B2O3 species as an
active additive promoter, suggesting that the content of W6+ species on the surface of B2O3 WO3

Career Path Quotes
In context to the story, this quote is said after Nisha and her roommate, Kosuke, go rollerblading
together. Nisha is surprised and impressed with Kosuke that he didn t seem to register all the
falling he was doing he was focused on the strides (173) this signifies that Kosuke does not dwell
on his mistakes, the past or his fears, rather, he focuses on moving forward. Nisha then realizes
how different her and Kosuke truly are, he moves forward and is fearless whereas she wants to
blend into the crowd and feel like she belongs. This gets Nisha thinking about the reason she
came to Paris, besides the hopes of loving Pierre, she came due to fear. Fear of being trapped in a

The Horrors Of Human Trafficking In The United States
In today s world, people believe that all enslavement or forced labor of any kind has quietly
deceased over the years, that all types of enslavement are behind modern societies and totally in the
past, yet it has been exactly the opposite. An international office stated, Only one out of 100 victims
of trafficking is ever rescued. This means around only 24,000 out of the 2.4 million people enduring
human traffickingwill be spared, ( Combating Human Trafficking ). Human trafficking is still a
very big problem across the world, even in the United States. Human trafficking has only
increased over the past two decades. It is also not likely that a person being trafficked is only
enduring this for a few months and then is set free; people are victims for multiple years,
possibly even decades. Human trafficking is still a serious threat to innocent lives across the
planet because rates are increasing, people are stuck in that vicious cycle for years, and it is
damaging millions of people everyday.
There are multiple ways that people can be trafficked, all terrifying and even life scarring towards
a person. Hart stated, People are forced to work against their will, they believe that if they do not
work, they will be either physically or emotionally hurt being threatened constantly, (Hart 7). This
shows the true horrors of human trafficking. It is saying how that the traffickers inflict so much
hurt onto a person that they will do anything the other person says at the snap

Food Stamp Program Thesis
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as the Food Stamp program, was
established as a safety net against hunger and malnutrition for low income Americans and their
families. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance programs help millions of families, seniors, people
with disabilities, and low wage working Americans afford access to enough food. Food stamps was
first introduced to the American public as a pilot program during the Great Depression in the
1930s. Mabel McFadden of Rochester, NY was the first food stamp recipient. She paid four dollars
and received six dollars worth of stamps in return.
An orange stamp could buy any food, while a blue stamp was good for only what the Department
of Agriculture deemed to be in surplus. That program lasted through the early 1940s. Food stamps
were revived in the 1960s as part of the war on poverty, but Americans still had to pay for their
stamp coupons. For the poorest, that was a hardship. In the ... Show more content on

Today s program benefits over 40 million Americans every month, more than half for children.
Paper coupons have been replaced by debit like EBT cards. The program is also a key support for
working families. Food stamps has eliminated the severe hunger and malnutrition that occurred in
the 1960s, yet in the United States today, 15.6 million households are estimated to be food
insecure. 40 percent of those eligible for food stamps miss out on benefits. Many do not know
they are eligible, others find the process too difficult. Even those on food stamps benefits can run
out before the end of the month, creating tough choice about whether to buy food or pay bills.
Charities and churches provide some help but cannot fill the growing need. The food stamp
program has a rich history in helping the nation s poor and it continues to be the nation s first line
of defense against

Human Trafficking Violates Human Rights
Human trafficking is a topic that is not discussed very often in society. Many people fail to realize
that human trafficking still exists today. Human trafficking violates basic human rights. It takes
away the freedom and security of men, women, and children world wide. The diversity and
widespread execution of human traffickingmake it difficult to regulate and prosecute. In the
international effort to prosecute human trafficking, several guidelines and definitions of human
trafficking have been provided:

During that time, the captives suffered physical abuse and hard labor without pay. The couple also
confiscated their passports and threatened to use violence, beatings, and sexual violence if the
captives did not comply with their demands (Victim s Stories). Men, most often victims to labor
trafficking. The Department of State describes male trafficking:
The sex trafficking of boys is often hidden, reflecting cultural taboos in many parts of the world.
In Afghanistan and coastal Sri Lanka, boys are more likely than girls to be subjected to
prostitution; in Mexico and Central America, boy migrants are vulnerable to commercial sexual
exploitation en route to the United States; boys in Southeast Asia are exploited in prostitution; to a
lesser extent, men are victims of sex trafficking; in recent years, Brazilian men were identified in
forced prostitution in Spain and men were identified as sex trafficking victims in the United States.
(Male Trafficking Victims). Different age groups fall victim to trafficking as well. Not only adults,
but also children, are trafficked worldwide. Child trafficking is defined as the recruitment,
transportation, transfer, harbouring, or receipt of children for the purpose of exploitation (Child
Protection from Violence, Exploitation and Abuse). Children make up almost twenty percent of
trafficking victims around the world. However, in some parts of Africa and the Mekong region,
children are the majority (up to 100% in parts of West

Using my ancestral background and my country of origin as the basis for my claim, I am going
to present some differences as to why I am in agreement. In Guyana (my homeland) I am not
allowed to call an adult by their given name. I would have to refer to them as uncle or auntie and
then insert their name. It is disgraceful for a younger person to call adults by their name. The
reason is that the culture dictates that you are not on equal grounds or have earned the right to
call them on their real name. In America it is okay to refer to someone regardless of age by their
given name. Another difference is chivalry. As time progresses humans forget to be polite to one
another. I was brought up to say, good morning, please and thank you. Opening doors and letting
people finish speaking instead of interrupting and cursing in public or at parents. Today these rules
do not apply to others because they are considered redundant. There is no obligation to commit to

Summary Of Goldilocks And The Three Bears
Summary: The story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears begins in a cottage deep in the woods.
This house is occupied by a family of bears: mama bear, papa bear and there only child baby
bear. Their home is very neat and tidy. In the home, each bear has its own size chair, porridge
bowl and bed which are all sized appropriately to the sizing of the bears. Not far away from where
the bears house, lived a mischievous beautiful little girl with long soft blonde locks, who had an
inquiring mind. Her name was Goldilocks One day the three bears went to visit a new born
baby, the same time Goldilocks wandered into the woods. Through out her walk she came upon
a house than peeked inside. When realizing it was where baby bear lived, Goldilocks took it
upon herself to go into the house without the owner s permission. She looked around (after
entering) the bears home. Being goldilocks, she had a realization where she was not satisfied
with superficial answers. She tested everything out for herself before she made up her mind.
She tested each of the bears following items: porridge bowls, chairs, and beds. After testing
mama and papa bears porridge bowl she found baby bears to be just right. When sitting on the
chair she broke baby bears chair into pieces. All those activities made the impish little girl tried so
she decided to go up stairs to see which bed has the best texture for her to take a nap in. Passing
through mama and papa bears bed she ended up falling asleep in baby bears bed.

Eliminating Discrimination In The Workplace Essay examples
As a business consultant I have been asked to suggest different methods that can possibly reduce
discrimination and prejudice in the workplace. Is it possible however to make everyone get along
and ignore their differences? According to the growing research on discrimination and prejudice,
these are learned behaviors that with practice can be unlearned, and ultimately eliminated (Baron
Branscombe, 2012, p. 195). Discriminationis defined as the negative treatment of different groups:
Prejudice, on the other hand is viewed as the negative emotions or attitudes associated with
discrimination (Baron Branscombe, 2012, p. 183). These two terms go hand in hand because they
both can lead to racism; however, that is not suggesting that... Show more content on

2723). Many researchers agree that one seems to be closer or more cohesive to their own group
and associate a sense of pride for each other; on the other hand, they tend to fear the out group
because they are seen as the competitors, the enemies, and the traitors (Ramasubramanian, 2010;
Baron Branscombe, 2012; Hirsh Lyons, 2010). Clearly this creates a disconnection between
groups which make them feel a sense of threat for one another and prejudice feelings become
more evident, while differences between the two appear. One of the most common theories that
explain why prejudice persists today, as it relates to the workplace, is called realistic conflict
theory (Baron Branscombe, 2012). This psychological theory states that prejudice is more frequent
when competition arises in a situation where there are limited resources that only one group can
claim (Bobo, 1983). However, since discrimination is a learned behavior as mentioned earlier, thus
one can conclude that it can be socially influenced; therefore, behavior can be altered (Bobo Fox,
2003).
With that being said, there are many methods and practices that can be used to reduce
discrimination and prejudice feelings in the workplace between groups of different social status or
authority (Dixon et al., 2010). These methods are recognized as interpersonal

Hofstede s Improve Four Dimensions Helping Others
Analysing 116 000 survey questionnaires, Hofstede s improve four dimensions helping others to
understand different culture behaviour. These dimensions were created based on simple problems
that most societies have every day.
The first dimension, power distance (PD), refers to hierarchy , to how inequality is approved by
subordinates and superiors, how power is divided between societies and how people behave with
authority. Hofstede divided this dimension in low which are societies with characteristics as
inequality at the minimum level, everyone enjoy the same benefits, subordinates opinion is taken
into account, managers should be democrat and high that includes societies that are autocrats
superiors, centralized structure, dependent subordinates, hierarchy reflects difference, superiors
have benefits.
The second dimension is uncertainty avoidance, and it shows how people react when they feel
threatened, societies that do not take risks or don t try new situations. This dimension is divided in
low and the main characteristics are rules are not allowed, common sense, hard work is not a virtue,
not structured activities. In the other side there re societies with the high uncertainty avoidance
characterized for don t allow changes, established rules, just in necessary cases, experts have the
better knowledge.
Then is the Individualism vs Group/collectivist orientation, this dimension shows How people
distribute their social life, importance of group life, goal achievements

Theme Of Feudal Class In The Canterbury Tales
Now I have told you shortly, in a clause,/ The rank, the array, the number and the cause/ Of our
assembly in this company (lines 711 14). Geoffrey Chaucer explains to his readers that he has
given a full description of each of his fellow pilgrims in his General Prologue to The Canterbury
Tales. Along with naming each character, he provides their profession which classifies each
pilgrim into one of three social classes: the religious class, the merchant class, or feudal order.
Chaucer provides a social commentary of the major social classes of his day, and though he
criticizes characters from each class, he most heavily criticizes the religious class more than any
other. Geoffrey Chaucer, author of The Canterbury Tales, is in favor of

The last character Chaucer describes in the feudal class is the Miller, a large and imposing man.
The physical description of him given includes, His beard, like any sow or fox, was red... (138).
The color red suggests that the Miller may be a Scotsman, the British and Scottish historically
disliked each other, perhaps extending to Chaucer. Furthermore, Chaucer stated that the Miller
was ... a master hand at stealing grain. He felt it with his thumb and thus he knew its quality and
took three times his due... (138). Clearly, the Miller is portrayed as a thief who takes what he
wants and is not above violence to achieve his goals. While everyone but the Miller are admired
in the feudal class, the people in the merchant class are both admired and criticized leaving
Chaucer s feeling to be neutral to the merchant class. Throughout Chaucer s Canterbury tales, he
describes the merchant class as more of neutral type of people, some are admired while others are
criticized. The author uses his personal knowledge to better explain his thoughts about the
characters who belong to the merchant class. The first one he mentions from the merchant class is
the Merchant, he is described as sitting high on his horse as well as making it to where none knew
that he was bad in debt. The narrator states that he does not care much about him, enough so that he
does not know his name. The next character Chaucer mentions is the

Critical Analysis Of China s Economy Essay Name: Course: Tutor: Date: Critical Analysis of China s Economy Abstract The economy of China has been on the rise at a rapid rate for more than three decades. Most of this growth higher productivity of labor highly contributed to this economic growth. On the contrary, as the economy widens, rate of employment diminishes along with a steady increase of the youth population. • 4. The Film Analysis Of The Movie The Patriot The Patriot The Patriot is known as this action packed, adventurous movie, and most americans have watched this movie despite the fact of its inaccuracies, also depicting america as great and the british as bad. This movie takes place in 1776, this was before the declaration of independence was signed and a idea was proposed about breaking away from the king and initiating a new nation was great but arguable. Not all the americans wanted to be independent from Great Britain, there was separation between the rebels and the colonials ,the rebels that wanted have to freedom and the Colonials that wanted to stay faithful to the king, america was nowhere near to united. The boston incident turned into a civil war. Later on, loyalists saw the british military as a authorized army, therefore loyalists joining the army because they were nationalistic like the rebels. However, in the movie they point out one loyalist because in the movie The Patriot they depict the americans in a positive light because if they stuck to true history they couldn t do that and would make the americans look bad. The filmmakers modified the history to put them in positive light for example they created this American hero named Benjamin Martin they depict him to be this heroic, flawless hero but in fact he is not even a person in history he is a made up fictional character based on francis marion and made up of other historical figures. Furthermore, they showed america united when in fact they were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The On The Other Hand, Parole, By De Saussure On the other hand, parole refers to the use of the langue the action in and of itself. It occurs in the phenomenon of language as a sequence of speech. Parole, which includes both written and spoken languages utilized in everyday life, is extremely diverse and varied dependent upon the number of people attempt to use a common language. In addition, de Saussure noted the constant change that parole undergoes as social groups, and age of users manipulate the language over time. De Saussure s interpretation of the underlying basis of language also included a composition of signs as opposed to sentences. Signs consist of two parts: a notion and a sound/written pattern. Without a sound, the notion is incommunicable. Similarly, without a notion, sound patterns are just noise. Without a comprehensive understanding of langue, parole is a meaningless collection of sounds or symbols grouped together at random. By understanding the relationship between the two parts of a sign, langue and parole create meaning. Therefore, de Saussure spoke heavily on the importance of understanding the langue of a language, especially a foreign one, than to grow the vocabulary of parole. By approaching a nonnative language as such, the speaker increases his or her ability to make sense equal to that of a native speaker. Language acts as a link that allows thought to be expressed through sound. As thoughts become more coherent, thus leading to the creation of sounds in words and phrases, language ... • 6. The Synoptic Gospels Of Matthew, Mark, And Luke Many scholars and philosophers find themselves troubled when trying to make sense of the Synoptic Gospels found in The Holy Bible. These include The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. When looking at them side by side readers will see that they have many differences and similarities. This has resulted in what is called The Synoptic Problem; that is, how do we account for these similarities and differences? Scholars have come up with an applicable solution called the four source solution Theory. This theory proposes that The Gospel of Markwas the first Gospel written and among the sources that Matthew and Luke used but, there are stories in Matthew and Luke that are not parallel to anything in Matthew. Where did these stories come from? Scholars call this the Q Source, a probable oral or written account that the authors of Matthew and Luke may have used in their writing of their Gospels. Ehrman describes The Q Source as, The source used by both Matthew and Luke for the stories they share, principally stories not found in Mark. (pg.61) Also, there are stories that are found in Luke that did not originate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of these include, Jesus speaking on his way to his crucifixion and speaking to a group of women. (Luke 23:28) Another example in the Gospel of Luke, is that Jesus is not as silent as the other Gospels portray him to be during his time of crucifixion. While being crucified he asks God to forgive those that are doing him wrong and speaks to a criminal being crucified beside him. He tells the man, Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise. (Luke 23:42) One last example is the sun eclipse and torn curtain of the temple, directly after the death of Jesus. (Luke 23:45) These are just some of the sole differences that show up only in Luke. This would back up the statement that besides the Q source and Mark, Luke would have had other source(s) as ... The United States have mixtures of many different cultures, such as Central Americans, Southeast Asia, and Middle Eastern; between these foreigners they all have to communicate some way because every day here in the United Statesthey will cross each other and will have to communicate. New Year s has been a source of celebration for almost 4,000 years. While it now falls on the first of January, it was initially celebrated on the first new moon following the vernal equinox by the Babylonians. A huge festival known as Akitu was then celebrated to mark the new yearalong with celebrating the mythical victory of the sky god Marduk (Source D). Research done by psychologist John Norcross found that only forty percent of the people who made New Year s resolutions kept them after six months (Source A). In his research, he seems to say that this is the reason resolutions are pointless. If you take a more optimistic look at these numbers, that is a large number of people who are actually making a positive change to their lives. He shows that after two years the numbers are even lower with only nineteen percent following their resolutions (Document A) Again, the eighty one percent failures are disappointing, but the nineteen percent of success may be life changing for people. Even a small resolution, like having a protein shake once a week, can make someone happier and feel a real sense of accomplishment. New Year s resolutions, when they are achieved or at least attempted, give people a goal and a chance to make an important change. This encourages people to feel hopeful about a goal, whether it is losing weight, eating better, or improving grades. Again, people will point out the disappointment that people may feel if they fail to follow through with their resolution. Although that may occur, the happiness that will result from achieving a goal will be very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This form does not involve abnormal blood vessels and or leaking of fluid. Vision impairments are still great and potential of complete vision loss is still possible. People affected by dry AMD experience central vision impairments, limited area of central vision, and limited vision when in areas of reduced light. Dry AMD is thought to be the result of the retina breaking down because of the formation of deposits, known as drusen, under the macula. The macula is a small area within the retina that is responsible for central vision. It s believed that these deposits interfere with vitamin transport, oxygen transport, and waste removal in the aged eye directly affecting the macula causing it to thin and dry out, losing its function. Depending on how severe this thinning and degeneration of the retina is, vision impairments will vary. Macular degeneration in its early stages is associated with minimal vision impairments, large drusen, and other pigmentary abnormalities in the macula. Drusen are deposits of fatty proteins that accumulate below the basement membrane of the retinal pigment epithelium. People over the age of 50 years have at least one small hard drusen in one or both eyes. People with large, soft drusen are the ones at high risk for AMD. Hard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ancient Greeks had already started to attribute authorship of works to individuals. The purpose is to encourage people to make new inventions by rewarding them with the exclusive right to own their ideas. Laws have been made to prohibit people from taking other people s ideas unlawfully (i.e., stealing) and in general, these laws have been successful in preventing the crime before it is done, and punishing the criminals after it is done. It is not hard to prove that an object belongs to its rightful owner, and therefore, it is not much more difficult to tell when someone takes other people s physical property. In other words, it is relatively easy to tell if someone is stealing an intellectual property when stealing a physical object is involved. It is also very easy to see a violation of intellectual property law when someone makes an obvious effort that shows his intention of stealing. If a person joins a high tech company to be part of the chip design team and then five months later leaves the company to join a competitor which suddenly releases a similar product with a similar bug, it will not be long until the former company files a trade secret lawsuit against that person. Even though we cannot see or prove the actual action of stealing, we are able to deduct that that person is stealing just by observing what he did. These factors that help us determine if a violation has been committed are useless in the new realm of the Internet and digital technology. Once converted to digital format, ideas that took form of writing and music are now just a sequence of zeros and ones. They do not have a physical form at all and become very abstract. Although people are able to be who they desire to be, justice continues to be ignored towards many groups of people all over the world. This act of denying their wrongs showed how changes in society could have happened, but since social stigmas are strong, people obscured themselves. Another example of people hiding themselves from the tension of change can be seen in the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Dolphus Raymond, a wealthy white man who lives with his black mistress and mulatto children, portrays a type of person who uses a different personality to mask himself. While talking to Scout, Dill, and Jem, Dolphus says, It ain t honest, but it s mighty helpful to folks. Secretly, Miss. Finch, I m not much of a drinker, but you see, they could never, never understand that I live like I do because that s the way I want to live (Lee 268). Pretending to be something else in a world that is judgmental is not hard for many people and it can or cannot affect the person. In this case, Dolphus does not mind hiding his true self because of the thoughts people would have towards him. After Scout questions him on why he would cry if he were younger, he replies, Cry about the simple hell people give other people without even thinking. Cry about the hell white people give colored people, without even stopping to think they re people too (Lee 269). Although it is ironic that Dolphus, a drunk minded person, would care about such a serious topic since he is not any different than people in society. Many individuals are very aware and hesitant of the judgement that could occur if they changed their morale or way of life; in turn prohibiting the chance for changes in society. We observed rust on the outside as a result of the oxygen combing with the iron. This can best be described as synthesis. In the next experiment we discovered that calcium chloride and magnesium Sulfate produce a substance that looks like milk after it foams. As a result, we contemplated that this was an example of double replacement. In reaction 5 with Zinc and hydrochloric acid we saw that the new product was introduced through bubbling. So we decided that this was single replacement. The final experiment was the easiest experiment in my opinion. Closing the candle stick and flame with a beaker resulted in visible smoke. In conclusion, we agreed that this reaction was combustion. We observed that reactions have many different ways to take ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Historical Background Of The Era Essay The Historical background of the era According to Evans, Marissa K. Apartheid is the name of the racial institution that was established in 1948 by the National Party that governed South Africa until 1994. The term, which literally means apartness, reflected a violently repressive policy designed to ensure that whites, who comprised 20% of the nation s population, would continue to dominate the country. Although the policy began officially in 1948, the practice of racial discrimination has deep roots in South African society. As early as 1788, Dutch colonizers began establishing laws and regulations that separated white s settlers and native Africans. These laws and regulations continued after the British occupation in 1795, and soon led to the channeling of Africans into specific areas that would later constitute their s0 called homelands. By 1910 the year that all of the formerly separate Boer Republics united with the British colony to become the Union of South Africa, there were nearly 300 reserves for natives throughout the country. By 1948, Dr. D.F. Malan, the prime architect of apartheid, led the National Party in the first campaign that centered on openly racist appeals to white unity. The Party promised that if elected it would make permanent these reserves under the joint fundamental principles of separation and trusteeship. • 40. The Assassination Of Wwii And The World On July 20, 1944, a group of high ranking German military officials attempted to carry out one of the most daring assassination plots in history, which, had it been successful, might have changed the course of WWII and the world. On that fateful day, a young staff officer, Colonel Claus Schenk Graf Von Stauffenberg planted a bomb in the Wolfsschanze (Wolf s lair), the Prussian field headquarters of Third Reich Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler, who was meeting with his generals, in an attempt to assassinate him and bring peace to warring Europe. The conspirators involved in the plot were driven by a patriotic desire to save Germany from absolute destruction in what had been deemed a hopeless war. Colonel von Stauffenberg and his cohorts recognized that the only way to achieve this was to take the life of the Fuhrer, seize control of the government, and then attempt to forge peace with the Western allies. Despite a meticulously planned coup, a single unforeseen action by one of the attending colonels destroyed all hopes of negotiating a peaceful resolution of the war and forever changed the course of history. Hitler survived the bombing attempt, exacting revenge on all those involved, and the war raged on for one more brutal year. The internal assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944 failed because the plotters, Stauffenberg, Olbricht, Oster, and many others did not consider the possibility of an adverse result, acting with overzealous confidence, and poor communication ... Our base case outlook for average annual real growth between 2015 and 2020 is between 3 and 4 percent Lower global commodity prices are an important factor supporting stronger economic growth. Although economies that are dependent on commodity exports may suffer, lower input prices for industry as well as lower fuel prices for households will provide a boost to aggregate demand and global growth. We expect emerging economies to continue to grow by more than 4 percent (contributing $16.2 trillion to global growth through 2020 at market exchange rates), while the growth rate of advanced economies is forecast to exceed 2 percent (contributing $13.5 trillion through 2020) for the first time since 2010. The United States is leading the recovery among advanced markets, and we expect the country to be a significant contributor to global growth through 2020. However, we anticipate economic performance to continue to diverge within both the emerging and developed market groupings based on key policy choices, as governments grapple with structural reforms in the context of reduced fiscal and monetary stimulus. In this regard, strong leadership and bold government actions will determine whether national economies can escape from the new mediocre of stable but low growth. There are multiple ways that people can be trafficked, all terrifying and even life scarring towards a person. Is it possible however to make everyone get along and ignore their differences? According to the growing research on discrimination and prejudice, these are learned behaviors that with practice can be unlearned, and ultimately eliminated (Baron Branscombe, 2012, p. 195). Discriminationis defined as the negative treatment of different groups: Prejudice, on the other hand is viewed as the negative emotions or attitudes associated with discrimination (Baron Branscombe, 2012, p. 183). Many researchers agree that one seems to be closer or more cohesive to their own group and associate a sense of pride for each other; on the other hand, they tend to fear the out group because they are seen as the competitors, the enemies, and the traitors (Ramasubramanian, 2010; Baron Branscombe, 2012; Hirsh Lyons, 2010). Clearly this creates a disconnection between groups which make them feel a sense of threat for one another and prejudice feelings become more evident, while differences between the two appear. One of the most common theories that explain why prejudice persists today, as it relates to the workplace, is called realistic conflict theory (Baron Branscombe, 2012). This psychological theory states that prejudice is more frequent when competition arises in a situation where there are limited resources that only one group can claim (Bobo, 1983). However, since discrimination is a learned behavior as mentioned earlier, thus one can conclude that it can be socially influenced; therefore, behavior can be altered (Bobo Fox, 2003). The second dimension is uncertainty avoidance, and it shows how people react when they feel threatened, societies that do not take risks or don t try new situations. Furthermore, Chaucer stated that the Miller was ... a master hand at stealing grain. He felt it with his thumb and thus he knew its quality and took three times his due... (138).
