Emergency Response From The Federal Emergency Management...
This paper will discuss emergency response derived from the Federal Emergency Management
System through the Department of Homeland Security, and the management system connecting the
support entities. Additionally, it will cover the response to the terrorist attacks of 9/11, and the
response to Hurricane Katrina. Specifically, this paper will look into a few areas where emergency
response has failed and why. Furthermore, it will look at lessons learned from failings associated with
these responses. Finally, this paper will look at what emergency response methods could improve, and
a business design created to improve response efforts in the future.

There were six original agencies that combined together to create what is recognized today as FEMA.
FEMA is in charge of coordinating and managing relief efforts for large, and/or lesser scale disaster
efforts. When FEMA is notified into action, it sets in motion a wide range of entities that collaborate
together to provide assistance. Roughly, a few types of assistants that are set into motion would
include financial and physical support.
When FEMA is called into action, they utilize a specific system called the National Incident
Management System or NIMS. The National Incident Management System is designed as a
systematic way of coordination between the public and private sectors to manage response efforts for
several types of incidents to aid in preventing loss of life and damage. It is also designed as a standard,
cooperate tool used for managing incidents. The concepts contained herein provide for a flexible but
standardized set of incident management practices with emphasis on common principles, a consistent
approach to operational structures and supporting mechanisms, and an integrated approach to resource
management (Department of Homeland Security, 2015). The NIMS has several functions that work in
association to provide the necessary tools for response efforts. These functions include: NIMS

Giuseppe Garibaldi Essay
Giuseppe Garibaldi
The Sword of Italian Unification
My goal, which was, I believe, shared by most italians at that time, was to unite the country and rid it
of foreign powers. Those who gave Italy her freedom would earn her people s gratitude (Garibaldi,
page 6). During the age of Italian unification, there were three men who fought for her (Italy s)
freedom. Those men were Cavour the brains, Mazzini the soul, and Garibaldi the sword (Chastain).
Giuseppe Garibaldi was born in Nice in 1807 (Garibaldi, page 173). He spent his life working towards
not only Italian unification, but that of France and South America. He is considered by many to be the
Hero of two worlds (Chastain). He spent most of his complex life on the run from ... Show more

Most of his account of twenty years of battle is more epic in nature, and includes many negative
interactions with authority figures. In all of his autobiography, he clearly mentions his personal values
at the beginning of his period of exile from Italy, and he does so with powerful language: It is difficult
to find perfection among humankind: let us try to be good; let us teach the masses, as far as we can,
the principles of justice and truth;; let us fight theocracy and tyranny, the embodiments of lies and evil,
whatever form they take but let us show compassion toward our own cruel human race, which among
its other merits has the ability to generate on half of itself made up of emperors, kings, policemen and
priests, who appear to be born with all the attributes of torturers for the glory and the good of the rest
of us (Garibaldi, page 48). From this quote we can clearly see that freedom, truth, and justice was the
primary values of Garibaldi. This values are , in turn, aligned very closely with his organizational
commitments and actions. From his book, it can inferred that he is always concerned for the safety and
well being of his troops. From his oversight into obtaining a proper burial of comrade in arms,
Anazini, to the constant references to the need to obtain proper clothing and food for his troops.
Giuseppe displays a great hatred for his superiors when they do not deliver on their promise of

Administration Essay
Preparation
Firstly, to prepare for the first administration of the CAS, I read the examiner manual which explained
that in order for the results to be interpretable and avoid reducing of reliability and validity, the
assessment should be administered according to the procedures and recommended testing conditions
(Das Naglieri, 1997). There were several key points to be familiar with which are: the materials
needed in each subtest (ie. Response book, red pencil, stopwatch), the starting points according to age,
the time limits per item, scoring of each item, and the discontinue rules. I then reviewed the record
forms, response booklets, and marked the starting points according to Jhallen s and Sierra s age with
highlighter and post it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, I made changes with Sierra s assessment and decided to split it in two sessions with two
subtests each session in order to avoid fatigueness.
Building Rapport According to Das and Naglieri (1997), it is important to establish rapport with the
examinee but also be aware of providing praise and compliment that may influence the results. I found
it fairly easy to build rapport with Jhallen as I have conducted an interview for the first assignment. As
the setting was more relaxed, Jhallen often asked some questions in which I found it difficult to not
repeat the item or give guidance. In order to not compromise the standardization of the test, I
reminded Jhallen in every beginning of the task that I cannot give guidance. On the other hand, my
assessment with Sierra required more effort in building rapport as she appeared to be shy and quiet in
the beginning. In order to establish rapport I had a brief conversation about her day and introduced the
assessment, emphasising that some of the tasks may be easy or difficulty but to try her best. To
maintain rapport during the assessment, I made sure that she understood the instructions of every task
and be aware that I could not provide help or feedback.
Report Writing The CAS Examiner s Manual provided steps in scoring and interpreting the scores. I
found the instructions to score the CAS results to be straightforward. It was also very

The Universal Themes Of Parents In The Outsiders And The...
No matter who you are, or where you are in the world, best friends and siblings are people who
influence us daily, and help us through rough times in our lives. In the two novels The Outsiders, by
S.E Hinton, and The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt, the two main are both example of this
universal theme. Ponyboy Curtis, from The Outsiders lives in Tulsa Oklahoma, trying to find a
balance from the dangerous world that is separated by the Greasers and the Socs. He soon finds that
these two different worlds are not so different after all. Holling Hoodhood is just trying to make it
through the confusing world that is seventh grade, while being alone in the classroom with a teacher
that hates his guts every Wednesday. One thing both Holling and Ponyboy have in common though, is
that they have a loyal best friend with them by their side, their best friends will always stick up for
them, and their siblings are always there when the world may seem against them. Ponyboy Curtis and
Johnny Cade have an unbreakable bond. There are many reason that Pony and Johnny have this kind
of trust. Ponyboy has a pretty tough life where he lives. Two different worlds that are constantly
contrasting with each other. However even in such a difficult place to be, Ponyboy can always rely on
Johnny throughout the novel. Johnny wasn t behaving like his old self. He looked over his shoulder
and saw that the door was blocked by flames, then pushed open the window and tossed out the nearest

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cad
Unconventional Computer Aided Design
Tailoring the Future of Fashion Industry
1. Introduction
1.1 Computer Aided Design (CAD)
Computer aided design (CAD), also known as computer aided design and drafting (CADD), generally
means the use of computer technology for the purpose of design and design documentation. CAD can
be used to design curves, figures or solids in two dimensional (2D) or three dimensional (3D) spaces
and it also provides graphics showing the overall appearances of products. Besides, CAD software is
able to assist designers in creation, analysis, modification and optimization of design, and it also offers
designers input tools so that they can easily streamline whole design process, including idea
generation, sketching and manufacturing processes.
The applications of CAD software are almost endless: designing machines, creating the structure of
buildings, or creating cars and airplanes. CAD software are also widely used in advertising, technical
manuals and even computer animation for the special effects in movies. CAD has brought a lot of
benefits, such as a shortened product ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In CAD design, designers will be never afraid to draw on the paper since they can erase by simply
clicking mouse and draw again. Besides, designers can view their designs of clothing on the virtual
models in various colors and shapes, which save time by offering fewer adjustments of samples and
prototypes later. There are many advantages of CAD in sketching, like easier modification, better
visualization, however, the major advantage is that CAD software provides many handy tools that are
unable to be used in traditional manual drawing method. CAD software reduces the demand for
manual sketches and is continuing to replace old manual skills by updating itself. Besides, once being
more skilled using CAD software, a designer will be able to find out more advantages of CAD instead
of manual sketching (Some

What Is Body Workout Essay
Something everybody will love: a total body workout anybody can do without needing to stand up. It
is a workout with training you can do in the comfort of your own Pj s. There s an entire burn and bum
work but at least you can avoid the gym. This discipline is a workout that is effective but also
structured in a way to fit in with your daily life so that couch potatoes have a little less stress when
eating too much and not exercising. People who work and students who do projects sit at their desk all
day long so to be healthy they have to overcomplicate their schedules and make it a drag when
working all day isn t already tiring. This workout can be done wherever whenever to just workout
some of your muscles and maybe get your heart rate going in between work and having a breather
from tasks.
I want with people doing this workout to have realistic expectations, if people set their goals to high
they might just throw in the towel. With this workout the aim is not to have a Victoria secret model
body but gain a healthier lifestyle than before. To build up confidence and comfort within their bodies.
Lazy people usually have no energy but to get energy we need to exercise a bit, so if at the end of the
process getting up in the morning is a bit easier than that is a goal defiantly achieved. This is a

Sexual Assault And Child Molestation Cases Essay
September 23, 2016
The Honorable Alan M. Wilner
County Courts Building
401 Bosley Avenue, Room 13 M
Towson, Maryland 21204
Re: Propensity Evidence in Sexual Assault/Child Molestation Cases
Dear Judge Wilner:
As Vice Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, I am writing to request that the Rules Committee
establish a rule to allow for the admissibility of certain evidence of similar behavior by the defendant
in sexual assault and child molestation cases. The adoption of such a rule will effectively end the
current disunion between the Federal Rules of Evidence and the Maryland Rules of Evidence.
As you know, under Maryland Rule 5 404(b), evidence of prior crimes may be admitted to show some
special relevance to the issues in the present case in very limited factual scenarios. The evidence may
not be used to show that the accused is a bad person but it should be permitted to illustrate (1) the
defendant s motive to commit the crime, (2) the defendant s intent to commit the crime, (3) that the
defendant engaged in a common scheme or plan to achieve an overarching criminal enterprise, (4) that
the defendant was, in fact, the person who committed the crime, (5) and that there was a lack of
mistake or accident on the part of the defendant when the crime was committed. With the adoption of
Rule 5 404(b), came the growing list of exceptions. The exceptions specifically listed in the rule are
not a laundry list of exceptions; they are a representative list of

What Is The Most Important Cause Of Global Ocean Circulation
Although relatively small in area, coastal polynyas play a disproportionately important role in many
important physical and biological processes in the high latitude Southern Ocean, as well as having an
impact on global ocean circulation. Coastal polynyas in some areas around Antarctica are important
contributors to global ocean circulation. Vertical mixing of ocean water, known as overturning
circulation or thermohaline circulation , is an important aspect of the global current system that is
driven primarily by rising and sinking of water masses at high latitudes in both the northern and
southern hemispheres. Salt is expelled as the ocean water freezes to form sea ice. This creates dense
brine that sinks and flows down the continental

Reproduction In The Trail Of Life
Reproduction is critical when ensuring the survival of a species. As was mentioned in The Trails of
Life, an organism s main goal is to ensure that they pass along their genes to future generations. As it
is, the process of reproduction is a costly and sometimes dangerous feat. Nature provides a plethora of
issues that need to be overcome before an individual can successfully reproduce. Difficulties can, and
often do, arise in nearly every stage of reproduction. Organisms may have to battle inauspicious
environmental conditions, lack of resources, or physiological shortcomings, to name a few of the
nearly inexhaustive list of issues surrounding reproduction. Although problems with reproduction
exist, nature has evolved responses to cope with specific issues, allotting organisms with methods ...

In most cases species tend to reproduce under polygynous conditions where one male mates with
many females. An interesting example of a polygynous system in nature can be seen in the sea louse.
A male releases chemicals that attracts females, and as the females approach the male s nesting site, he
collects them and lines them in a row until he senses they are ready to mate. More mates equate to
more offspring, hence, this method for reproduction ensures that the male will pass his genes
throughout a population.
The most straight forward example of a rare monogamous mating relationship is often granted to
humans; however, in terms of other animal species, the albatross is a great example of this mating
system. Albatrosses mate for life, which is impressive being that many will live to be several decades
old. The albatrosses work together in raising their offspring. While one parent searches for food, the
other will remain with the chick often times undergoing near starvation in order to ensure the chick is

Persuasive Essay About Community Service
As an 18 year old tennager, I was forced by my parents to participate a summer volunteer program in
my freshman year. Even though I felt that I was a victim of tyranny in the beginning, I realized that I
actually enjoyed the process of helping people in the middle of the program. Now, I participate that
program every year as an active member, and I have gained the personal enrichment that I am unable
to learn from other sources such as math club or SAT preparatory class. There is no doubt that
community service can bring essential benefits in helping students develop their moral value and
future interest, and it should be mandatory because some students attempt to utilize community
service as a tool for their own profit without the school supervision. Volunteerism enables students to
gain the moral lesson that is vital to their life and develop their future interest. According to source 2,
community service teaches us through experience about the relationship between empathy and
responsibility, about what it takes to be part of a community, in essence, about human being . While
students are helping their community, they learn the crucial moral lessons in the most direct and
impressive way. Through an actual experience of volunteering, students are reminded that it is their
responsibility to serve for their community because they are a part of it. Helping without any feedback

problems when the foetus is born and also developing them in later life.
Mothers who drink alcohol also put their child at risk of developing slowly. Recent research suggests
that a mother who drinks a large glass of wine a day stunts their child s growth up to the age of nine.
Scientists at Harvard Medical School found pregnant women who had three units of alcohol a day had

Effectiveness Of Psychiatric Programs For Children Essay
Children in crisis are at a higher risk of developing mental health issues due to traumatic experiences.
Several interventions are available to reduce the effects of traumatic experiences on children. In this
paper, the effectiveness of psychiatric programs for children in crisis will be investigated. It is
hypothesized that psychiatric intervention programs are effective in reducing stress reactions in
children in crisis but an holistic approached must be adopted to obtain better results. The following
four literature reviews attempt to validate and support this hypothesis. In a research article by Ager,
Stark, Akesson Boothby (2010), the authors attempted to identify best practices used by practitioners
in the care and protection of children in crisis. The determination of best practices would identify
areas where there is harmony in the provision of this care and protection and where there is
disharmony, it would provide the basis for policy and programmatic review in the area. Additionally,
identification of these best practices allows for the deliberation of how this knowledge reflects on the
development and contribution of research in the enhancement of practices for the care and protection
of children in crisis. The study participants were senior practitioners working with major agencies
involved in humanitarian response for the care and protection of children in crisis. The study

Gamma rays are the most interesting wave in the electromagnetic spectrum. In 1900, Paul Villard

The research logically proved that if a person was farther away from the radiation, they would be
affected less by the bombing. The research clearly revealed why a high dose of gamma radiation was
dangerous because the bombs and explosions immediately killed people, and had many ways to
destroy person s health.
Unlike high dose of gamma radiation, a small dose of radiation had a significant and negative effects
on the victims in China. This study strongly proved that gamma radiation negatively affected the
health because the accidental Ir 192 gamma radiation caused a variety of cancer even with small doses
of radiation: .05 .65 Gy (Li). Iridium 192 is a radioactive isotope that has a half life of 73.82 days
which means that these radiations may occur rapidly. Also, the victims who were exposed to this
radiation had limited knowledge that certain machinery expelled the gamma radiation (Li). 54 people
were conducted on a 10 year test to check their health. The method was very simple because the
researchers gathered and then studied blood samples, bone marrow, and their T cell subsets (Li). The
results revealed basic clinical symptoms such as an increase in dizziness, fatigue, memory loss,

Symbolism In The Wizard Of Oz

In the Wizard of Oz, the residents of the famed city are legally required to wear emerald glasses,

We see notable risks in a pure laissez faire let them work it out for themselves approach. Large
amounts of money, resources, and effort are being committed (by government agencies, by academic
departments, by publishers, by professional societies, and by individual researchers) to the
development, maintenance, and promotion of various forms of communications technologies for use
in global science. However, in the absence of a valid theory of how scholarly fields adopt and shape
technology, scientists and policy makers are left only with context free models, and hence resources
may be committed to projects that are not self sustainable, that wither, and that do not effectively
improve the scientific communications system of the field. The consequences may not only be sub
optimal use of financial resources, but also wasted effort on the part of individual researchers, and

society and culture, the worst is its corrosive influence on journalism (Miller 2001). In journalism, one
used to be able to ask questions and have both sides of the story; now, journalism has transitioned to
creating drama and making up fact. Once channels, radio stations, and newspapers get dominated,
they no longer cover the whole story, instead, they only cover a portion of it and emphasize certain
parts more than others. Their goal is to try to sell their form of media and get views. The cartels do not
care whether the information provided is factual or not. Lots of people liked what Fox s owner
Murdoch did, it was attracting lots of viewers because of the shouting and the scandals that would go
on Fox News; and at that time CNN went to the capital to seek advice from rightist polls to get more
viewers (Miller 2001). CNN wanted to get more views like Fox, so they also went to look for advice
on how to attract more viewers. While making the decision on how things get covered, the large media
corporations also take the time to slip in messages that will benefit

Infant Eye Development Book Report
Growing up we use our key senses to understand and live in the world around us. After birth newborns
eyes are still developing and cannot make out fine details far away. Newborns vision is around 20/240,
but by 6 months their vision clears up to around 20/40. At birth infants are genetically programmed to
know who their mother is and by three months they can match voices with their gender and ethnic
groups. Along with being better to distinguish voices, newborns sense of colors also enhances with
age. Perceptual vision is very important for infant eye development. This is necessary because without
this ability they would see an object at a different distance or in a different orientation, they would
perceive it as a different object (Santrock 161). There are two main factors for this size constancy, ...

The book uses the example of how infants were placed on a surface with just glass and the appearance
of a drop off. They then would put their mother on the other end calling the babies names, but none
would crawl to their mothers. In childhood, the child s ability to see more colors increases. Along with
a color increase perception, young children start to develop the ability to overcome gravity bias. After
childhood, vision no longer increase, but starts to actually decrease around the age of 40 to 59.
Presbyopia happens because there is a decrease of blood supple to the eye and the retina becomes less
sensitive to different stimulus. Because the retina is not as active as previous years, it becomes hard
for older people to see that well in the dark, and especially driving at night becomes especially
dangerous. Color and depth perception also decrease with age. Older adults have a harder time
distinguishing closely related colors, especially the green blue violet colors (Santrock 163). As you
age, your eyes become more susceptible to different

The new Expectations are high and the government will present an adjustment to the former
government s budget implement its own strategy.
If the government announces any definite measures which would either lead to broadening of the tax
base or increase in tax compliance, a modest increase in revenue cannot be rule out. However,
development in tax buoyancy could only result from bringing about structural changes in the tax
structure such as implementation of GST and DTC. We also expect the government to take a strong
stance on some of the impending tax related disputes relating to retrospective changes to tax laws,
transfer pricing laws and General Anti Avoidance Rules (GAAR). We would also expect the
government to give a clear outline of its intentions on disinvestment which would also help in
assessing the resources available for its expenditure.

How Did Europeans Contact With Native Americans
Was Contact with Europeans catastrophic for Native Americans? Be Specific The first contact
between Europeans and the Americans transpired when Christopher Columbus arrived in America in
1492. After five years when he first stepped on American soil, many other European explorers started
to visit America as well. At this point, the Europeans did not settle on a permanent basis. Their reason
for traversing to America was to find new routes for trade. One of the trade items between Europeans
and Native Americans was fresh meat that Europeans took in exchange of their products in the quest
to change their diet after long periods of sailing on the sea. Some of the trade items that the Native

The Europeans brought about diseases that initially never transpired in the Native Americans
communities. Indian [Native Americans] population of 10 million that lived north of Mexico when
Columbus came would ultimately be reduced to less than a million. Huge numbers of Indians would

with a Spanish called Herman Cortes and his army when they came to America in 1521. Europeans
were also responsible for bringing about other diseases such as influenza and measles to healthy
Native Americans. Contact with Europeans increased warfare with the Native Americans. This was
because of increased populations and the competition for the resources. The natives resorted to war
since they felt robbed of their land. The warfare came with many deaths as the Europeans wanted to
take over and dominate the entire homeland. To conclude, the contact between the Europeans and the
Native Americans did not have consequential benefits to the Native Americans when compared with
the negative impact. It is because the native population was diminished sharply due to the warfare,
diseases and even deracination of Native Americans from their homeland. The negative impact that
Europeans entrance brought about was far less beneficial compared to their constructive influences

Originally introduced in New Zealand in 1861, Red Deer (Cervus elaphus), were released for sport.
By 1910, it was clear to natives that the deer were creating a negative impact on the environment.
Feeding areas were becoming bare and there was flooding due to the loss of soil from erosion (Drew).
Animals that are introduced to their non native environments and cause harm are known as invasive
species. In addition to New Zealand, this invasive species has also been introduced to North and South
America and Australia, causing similar damaging effects.
Red Deer are originally from Eurasia, belonging in the temperate grassland biome. The ecosystems the

Physical Activity s Impact on the Hippocampus
Ana Arredondo The hippocampus is a miniature structure within the brain that plays a crucial role in
the limbic system. The limbic system, known for regulating emotions among other functions, is
located in the medial temporal lobe. The importance of the hippocampus relies on multiple aspects of
memory. When information is processed from the environment, the hippocampus manipulates it by
arranging and storing information from short term into long term memory. Once memories are stored

Marketing Strategy Of Pampers
Pampers
Pampers was discovered in 1956, by Vic Mills, who worked at Proctor Gamble. The company
struggled when Huggies as created, but have developed a new strategy, which has helped the company
rise back to the top of the diaper industry. Pampers new strategy focuses on customer feedback and
relationships, global social media marketing, promotions, and producing quality products. Pampers
has grown to be the number one brand in the diaper industry, due to their heavy utilization in social
media marketing, and the personal relationship with their customers.
History
Vic Mills is an engineer that worked for Proctor Gamble, who did not enjoy changing his grandkids
cloth diapers, so he wanted to come up with an easier solution for changing diapers. With that being
said, he worked with other researchers to develop a disposable diaper in 1956, which was the start of
Pampers. In 1958 the company introduced the costly plastic diaper in Texas, but quickly realized how
uncomfortable they were for the babies and not economically cost effective for the parents, so it was
back to the drawing board. According to the Pampers Newsroom (2011) six months after the Dallas
Test market, P G designed a diaper with better features including zee pleats, superior containment, a
hydrophobic top sheet and a plastic back sheet. The testing of the new and improved diaper was a hit.

Moving Away at a Young Age Essay
Moving Away at a Young Age
Moving far away from family and friends can be tough on a child at a young age. It has its pros and
cons. One learns how to deal with moving away from the people they love and also learn how to deal
with adjusting to new ways of life. Everything seems so different and at a young age one feels like
they have just left the whole world behind them. That was an experience that changed my life as a
person. It taught me how to deal with change and how to adjust. It developed me from a young boy
into a mature young man.

will need to make sure that it implements a strategic strategy that separates itself from its competitors

Plan Recommendation 1: Expand the Panera Brand both Nationally amp; Globally Panera Bread
Company is not reaching its full potential when it comes to their need to expand into new unchartered
markets. By expanding both nationally and globally they will be able to more readily compete with the
likes of a Starbucks who has over 17,000 stores across the globe. Panera needs to become the place
that people want to get their coffee and baked goods from, an area that Starbucks currently rules in the
market place. Panera also does not have any global presence, by utilizing different continents such as
Europe and Asia they should be able to bring their brand from a more local/national brand to a more

How To Write An Essay About Herb s Vision
It all started with an individual vision that had to become a shared vision. Herb believed that we
needed to think out of the box, and needed to operate and function differently. There was a quote in
one of the articles that we had to read in class that was most relative to what Herb saw in the US
Olympic hockey program. In the article the head of HR at Adobe, Donna Morris stated that, It s a
process that looks in the rearview mirror, that s focused on what you ve done a year ago. The old

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy Theory
Introduction I believe that every one has different problem, because every one has different beliefs.
Therefore, solving our problems should be connecting with our beliefs. Rational emotive behavior
therapy is one of my favorite counseling theories because it helps the clients to change their feeling
acting via change the client thought.
Two Types of Disturbance Rational emotive behavior therapy argues that a defining characteristic of
humans is that we have desires. We want certain things to happen and other things not to happen.
However, we also a have a strong tendency to transform these desires into absolute musts. When we
hold rigid beliefs of this nature, we disturb ourselves. Thus, in REBT, rigidity is seen as being at the
core of psychologically disturbed responses to adversity (Neenan Dryden, 2010). Rational emotive
behavior therapy suggests that human beings defeat or disturb themselves in two main ways: (1) by
holding irrational beliefs about their self (ego disturbance) or (2) by holding irrational beliefs about
their emotional or physical comfort (discomfort disturbance). Frequently, the two go together. Ego
disturbance represents an upset to the self image. It results from holding negative self evaluations
about one s self such as I am no good and so on. These beliefs create ego anxiety. Thus, emotional
tension resulting from the perception that one s self or personal worth is threatened. Furthermore, it
may lead to other problems such as avoidance

Genocide In Darfur
Concerning the ethnic minorities of Burma, I believe that we are in a period where carefully analyzed
humanitarian input can have a successful impact. Unlike the genocide in Darfur, we re aware of a
developing situation where large scale genocide has not taken place yet. History further lends a hand
in paralleling the cordoning in society of minorities such as the Rohingya with that of the black
African minorities in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan. Lessons gained in the events in Sudan should be
considered in defending the minorities of Burma who are facing human rights violation. The first step
is early engagement and awareness. Advocacy before a potential genocide of Burmese minorities will

The Sudanese government refused to allow NGOs into the Nuba Mountains, where genocide by
attrition was taking place. However, a London based human rights group, African Rights, played an
instrumental part in both reaching out to the Nuba as well as bringing their plight to the attention of
the international community. African Rights was able to gain access to the Nuba Mountains and
provide valuable communication logistics to the Nuba, which provided a window to the international
community of the human rights violations carried out by the Sudanese government. Similarly,
Burmese minorities such as the Rohingyas have been separated from the larger Burmese society. They
have very little rights and sustenance. A scenario eerily familiar to that of the Nuba people. We need to
insert humanitarians within these cordoned communities to document human rights violations. The
international community will have a more difficult time ignoring tangible documentation. Moving this

Over the past few decades there has been a significant transformation in the global financial structure.
These remarkable changes are a result of increasing global competition, changes in business and

corporations and individual borrowers to look beyond the borders for finance and investment
opportunities. In order to protect these investors and to maintain the market integrity a financial

is also responsible for the International Financial Reporting standards (Ready ratios, 2010). The
process for setting these standards comprises of certain stages such as: setting the agenda, planning,
developing the discussion paper and exposure draft and finally setting the standard. After issuing the

Nursing Code Of Ethics, Personal And Societal Values, And...
Working in the nursing profession, nurses must be prepared to assess and support the diverse needs of
the patient and their family. Every nurse, regardless of his or her specialty, encounters ethical
challenges. However, public health nurses may face unique challenges in their distinct focus on the
health of the population in addition to individuals (Haugh Mildon, 2005). In this research paper, I will
consider two case studies from the perspective of the nursing code of ethics, personal and societal
values, and the legal aspects and responsibilities of the nurse.
The Nursing Code of Ethics According to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for
Nurses with Interpretive Statements (2015), the code establishes the ethical standard for the profession
and provides a guide for nurses to use in ethical analysis and decision making (p. 7). In the first case

We had worked for months for this moment. We have poured our hearts into our training and this is

What Is Berthold s Evidence Of Absolutism
Since Berthold beyond a doubt wrote this right after it occurred he would not have been aware of the
papal election decree of 1059, therefore he would have considered Honorius II the real pope as elected
by Henry IV. Therefore, when Berthold records the event he doesn t regard Bishop Anselm as the real
pope, accusing him of illegally taking control of the papacy. This account of the papal schism would
therefore lean towards the favor of Henry IV. In Berthold s second version of the account he changes

The synod of Rome in 1075 saw different bishop be warned and some even deposed for their actions.
The accounts written about this synod reveal how the authors, Berthold and Bernold of St. Blasien,
saw bishops and clergymen who went against the papal reforms. Pope Gregory used the weapon of
deposing and excommunicating clergymen to enforce his papal reforms. These weapons meant that
the person deposed or excommunicated must not receive of any sacraments and no one must willing
follow this person and their rule. Gregory wanted to encourage that if a member of the church
committed a crime of simony then they aren t an actual bishop or clergymen who could carry out the
sacraments. Berthold and Bernold both adopted his viewpoint and opinions in regards to clergymen
who act against the papal reform. Berthold would become his biggest supporter, believing Gregory
had God like powers in regards to cleaning the Catholic Church and that he had every right to do it.
Berthold explains, Strove to clear the field of the lord properly with the authentic axes of catholic and
apostolic discipline . The language Berthold uses implies that Gregory is within his right and power to
clean the field of the lord with the authentic axe . Berthold s description shows that he supported
Gregory in his mission to cleanse the church of corrupt

A Nation Essay
A Nation
A nation is said to exist when it could traced its origins through the state, in which it associate itself
with, histories. Additionally, the cultural elites must be established and well versed in writing and
speaking the national language. There must also be a valid reason for its claim on a certain territory. It
is only when these three requirements are fulfilled will the international community consider their
claim for a nation (Hobsbawm, 1990: 37). Disagreements, however, tend to arise in the political
community over the definition of a nation. This essay will try to list out the different approaches
employed in defining a nation starting from a nation being a natural cultural entity to it being
politically and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The question on why and how he makes his choice is irrelevant. It is only when he consented to
participate in the community will he readily conform to the community norms and values.
Society cultural consciousness would then play an important role in dictating the speed of his consent.
According to Herder, people become aware of their heritage when they read or listen to myths,
legends and even songs. By doing so, the community captures the Volgeist or the spirit of the people.
Language is thus seen as an important medium in spreading a community s culture as it contains
people traditions and historical memories. Therefore a nation is defined as the unification of people
through the sharing of the same cultural heritage (Heywood, 1997: 105).
This approach has been met with several criticisms. Firstly, according to Gellner the definition used is
too wide (Gellner, 1983: 53). By adopting the above criteria, any social network with the same
cultural norms and values are entitled to call themselves as a nation. This would include clubs or any
other associations. Another problem encountered by this definition is the impossibility of limiting
cultural boundaries. In addition to that Herder s claim of the unification of the people through a
common language could be dismissed as most nations have several national languages due to its
multicultural population. Switzerland, for example, has three

Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift
Society vs. Individuality In the novel Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the influence that society
has on Gulliver is very detectable in this book. Throughout the novel, Gulliver repeatedly, finds
himself in predicaments because societal norms and the role of government in our society. Swift
shows how the idea of who people are due to their position in society. Gulliver is an outsider to the
society of Lilliput, he tries to fit into their world but fails, not only because of his size but because of
their governmental treason. I believe, Swift wrote the story of Liliput to try and illustrate to us the idea
that society and government corrupts individuals. This is shown by the relationships between Gulliver
and self oriented individuals and society oriented individuals. Swift demonstrates that the government
has questionable motives, in the Acts of Conduct that Gulliver has to learn it has in it the description
of basically what the King can and cannot do. The first rule they explain is ...the obedience to the king
out of terror rather than out of respect . The King shows the fear he instills in his subjects by the
phrase, the Princes of the Earth shake their Knees (25). The King also tries to rule the heavens and the
Earth, whose Feet press down to the Center, and whose Head strikes against the sun (25). Even though
the king is within his rule, the reader will find the King s methods harsh. Swift is implying that for
men to have control over their government or

Sexual Harassment In Donna Ned s The Office
Sexual harassment continues to be a substantial problem within the workplace and around the world.
Donna Benson, an American author, writes in Sexual Harassment on a University
Campus: The Confluence of Authority Relations, Sexual Interest and Gender Stratification that
Female workers have always been vulnerable to sexual abuse by male employees... In non random
surveys as many as 70 percent of respondents report harassment on the job (236). This is an
unfortunate statistic, and through comedy, the television series The Office (U.S.), created by NBC, and
directed by Benjamin Novak reveals the reality of this unfortunate statistic and how inappropriate
harassment is. The Office (U.S.) is a comedy based around Dunder Mifflin Paper company s Scranton
branch manager, Michael Scott. Michael is a comedic and belligerent character who is unaware of his
socially distasteful humor, which shows the audience how unacceptable sexual harassment is. Through
the use of comedy, the producers of The Office reveal to its audience how sexual harassment is
unacceptable. In the episode titled, Sexual Harassment in season two of The Office (U.S.), Michael
Scott negatively depicts males due to his inappropriate sexual harassment. In addition, the way his
female employees react to his harassment parallels with another woman s strategy to combat sexual
harassment. Lastly, the producers used comedy to bring awareness to one of the problems that
particular society is dealing with, which

Roughly, a few types of assistants that are set into motion would include financial and physical support. • 3. Giuseppe Garibaldi Essay Giuseppe Garibaldi The Sword of Italian Unification My goal, which was, I believe, shared by most italians at that time, was to unite the country and rid it of foreign powers. Those who gave Italy her freedom would earn her people s gratitude (Garibaldi, page 6). During the age of Italian unification, there were three men who fought for her (Italy s) freedom. Those men were Cavour the brains, Mazzini the soul, and Garibaldi the sword (Chastain). Giuseppe Garibaldi was born in Nice in 1807 (Garibaldi, page 173). He spent his life working towards not only Italian unification, but that of France and South America. He is considered by many to be the Hero of two worlds (Chastain). Most of his account of twenty years of battle is more epic in nature, and includes many negative interactions with authority figures. In all of his autobiography, he clearly mentions his personal values at the beginning of his period of exile from Italy, and he does so with powerful language: It is difficult to find perfection among humankind: let us try to be good; let us teach the masses, as far as we can, the principles of justice and truth;; let us fight theocracy and tyranny, the embodiments of lies and evil, whatever form they take but let us show compassion toward our own cruel human race, which among its other merits has the ability to generate on half of itself made up of emperors, kings, policemen and priests, who appear to be born with all the attributes of torturers for the glory and the good of the rest of us (Garibaldi, page 48). From this quote we can clearly see that freedom, truth, and justice was the primary values of Garibaldi. This values are , in turn, aligned very closely with his organizational commitments and actions. From his book, it can inferred that he is always concerned for the safety and well being of his troops. From his oversight into obtaining a proper burial of comrade in arms, Anazini, to the constant references to the need to obtain proper clothing and food for his troops. Giuseppe displays a great hatred for his superiors when they do not deliver on their promise of clothing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Administration Essay Preparation Firstly, to prepare for the first administration of the CAS, I read the examiner manual which explained that in order for the results to be interpretable and avoid reducing of reliability and validity, the assessment should be administered according to the procedures and recommended testing conditions (Das Naglieri, 1997). There were several key points to be familiar with which are: the materials needed in each subtest (ie. As a result, I made changes with Sierra s assessment and decided to split it in two sessions with two subtests each session in order to avoid fatigueness. Building Rapport According to Das and Naglieri (1997), it is important to establish rapport with the examinee but also be aware of providing praise and compliment that may influence the results. I found it fairly easy to build rapport with Jhallen as I have conducted an interview for the first assignment. As the setting was more relaxed, Jhallen often asked some questions in which I found it difficult to not repeat the item or give guidance. In order to not compromise the standardization of the test, I reminded Jhallen in every beginning of the task that I cannot give guidance. On the other hand, my assessment with Sierra required more effort in building rapport as she appeared to be shy and quiet in the beginning. In order to establish rapport I had a brief conversation about her day and introduced the assessment, emphasising that some of the tasks may be easy or difficulty but to try her best. To maintain rapport during the assessment, I made sure that she understood the instructions of every task and be aware that I could not provide help or feedback. Report Writing The CAS Examiner s Manual provided steps in scoring and interpreting the scores. I found the instructions to score the CAS results to be straightforward. It was also very ... Wilner County Courts Building 401 Bosley Avenue, Room 13 M Towson, Maryland 21204 Re: Propensity Evidence in Sexual Assault/Child Molestation Cases Dear Judge Wilner: As Vice Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, I am writing to request that the Rules Committee establish a rule to allow for the admissibility of certain evidence of similar behavior by the defendant in sexual assault and child molestation cases. The adoption of such a rule will effectively end the current disunion between the Federal Rules of Evidence and the Maryland Rules of Evidence. As you know, under Maryland Rule 5 404(b), evidence of prior crimes may be admitted to show some special relevance to the issues in the present case in very limited factual scenarios. The evidence may not be used to show that the accused is a bad person but it should be permitted to illustrate (1) the defendant s motive to commit the crime, (2) the defendant s intent to commit the crime, (3) that the defendant engaged in a common scheme or plan to achieve an overarching criminal enterprise, (4) that the defendant was, in fact, the person who committed the crime, (5) and that there was a lack of mistake or accident on the part of the defendant when the crime was committed. With the adoption of Rule 5 404(b), came the growing list of exceptions. The exceptions specifically listed in the rule are not a laundry list of exceptions; they are a representative list of ... Coastal polynyas in some areas around Antarctica are important contributors to global ocean circulation. Vertical mixing of ocean water, known as overturning circulation or thermohaline circulation , is an important aspect of the global current system that is driven primarily by rising and sinking of water masses at high latitudes in both the northern and southern hemispheres. • 10. Reproduction In The Trail Of Life Reproduction is critical when ensuring the survival of a species. As was mentioned in The Trails of Life, an organism s main goal is to ensure that they pass along their genes to future generations. As it is, the process of reproduction is a costly and sometimes dangerous feat. Nature provides a plethora of issues that need to be overcome before an individual can successfully reproduce. Difficulties can, and often do, arise in nearly every stage of reproduction. Organisms may have to battle inauspicious environmental conditions, lack of resources, or physiological shortcomings, to name a few of the nearly inexhaustive list of issues surrounding reproduction. In most cases species tend to reproduce under polygynous conditions where one male mates with many females. An interesting example of a polygynous system in nature can be seen in the sea louse. A male releases chemicals that attracts females, and as the females approach the male s nesting site, he collects them and lines them in a row until he senses they are ready to mate. More mates equate to more offspring, hence, this method for reproduction ensures that the male will pass his genes throughout a population. The most straight forward example of a rare monogamous mating relationship is often granted to humans; however, in terms of other animal species, the albatross is a great example of this mating system. Albatrosses mate for life, which is impressive being that many will live to be several decades old. The albatrosses work together in raising their offspring. Now, I participate that program every year as an active member, and I have gained the personal enrichment that I am unable to learn from other sources such as math club or SAT preparatory class. There is no doubt that community service can bring essential benefits in helping students develop their moral value and future interest, and it should be mandatory because some students attempt to utilize community service as a tool for their own profit without the school supervision. Volunteerism enables students to gain the moral lesson that is vital to their life and develop their future interest. According to source 2, community service teaches us through experience about the relationship between empathy and responsibility, about what it takes to be part of a community, in essence, about human being . While students are helping their community, they learn the crucial moral lessons in the most direct and impressive way. Several interventions are available to reduce the effects of traumatic experiences on children. In this paper, the effectiveness of psychiatric programs for children in crisis will be investigated. It is hypothesized that psychiatric intervention programs are effective in reducing stress reactions in children in crisis but an holistic approached must be adopted to obtain better results. The following four literature reviews attempt to validate and support this hypothesis. In a research article by Ager, Stark, Akesson Boothby (2010), the authors attempted to identify best practices used by practitioners in the care and protection of children in crisis. The determination of best practices would identify areas where there is harmony in the provision of this care and protection and where there is disharmony, it would provide the basis for policy and programmatic review in the area. Additionally, identification of these best practices allows for the deliberation of how this knowledge reflects on the development and contribution of research in the enhancement of practices for the care and protection of children in crisis. Panera Bread Company will need to make sure that it implements a strategic strategy that separates itself from its competitors and provides a supreme food quality and dining experience. TO: Ron Saich FROM: Subject 3 5 Year Plan Recommendation 1: Expand the Panera Brand both Nationally amp; Globally Panera Bread Company is not reaching its full potential when it comes to their need to expand into new unchartered markets. By expanding both nationally and globally they will be able to more readily compete with the likes of a Starbucks who has over 17,000 stores across the globe. Panera needs to become the place that people want to get their coffee and baked goods from, an area that Starbucks currently rules in the market place. Panera also does not have any global presence, by utilizing different continents such as Europe and Asia they should be able to bring their brand from a more local/national brand to a more global one, increasing revenue along the way. In doing this they should begin testing new menu items that would attract customers of different cultures. Recommendation 2: Expanding the Current Menu Panera Bread Company should open itself up to the idea of serving alcohol at each and every one of its stores. At this point in the book, we know that Chris had went through college and used the remainder of his college fund to donate to charity. The thing unclear about this passage is the decisions he made. Herb believed that we needed to think out of the box, and needed to operate and function differently. There was a quote in one of the articles that we had to read in class that was most relative to what Herb saw in the US Olympic hockey program. In the article the head of HR at Adobe, Donna Morris stated that, It s a process that looks in the rearview mirror, that s focused on what you ve done a year ago. The old strategies were not working. During the forming phase the players attempted to get to know each other, but it was difficult, due to Herb s design of the team. The diversity of the team caused intense conflict. This is exactly what Herb was looking to achieve. I believe Herb was trying to create a toughness culture by creating conflict and having the specific diversity in this team triggered this. The team was comprised of a lot of members from the University of Minnesota where Herb coached, but there were also a few members from rival institutions Boston University, and the University of New Hampshire. There were some unsettled scores, which forced the group from forming to storming. • 34. Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy Theory Introduction I believe that every one has different problem, because every one has different beliefs. Therefore, solving our problems should be connecting with our beliefs. Rational emotive behavior therapy is one of my favorite counseling theories because it helps the clients to change their feeling acting via change the client thought. Two Types of Disturbance Rational emotive behavior therapy argues that a defining characteristic of humans is that we have desires. We want certain things to happen and other things not to happen. However, we also a have a strong tendency to transform these desires into absolute musts. When we hold rigid beliefs of this nature, we disturb ourselves. Thus, in REBT, rigidity is seen as being at the core of psychologically disturbed responses to adversity (Neenan Dryden, 2010). Rational emotive behavior therapy suggests that human beings defeat or disturb themselves in two main ways: (1) by holding irrational beliefs about their self (ego disturbance) or (2) by holding irrational beliefs about their emotional or physical comfort (discomfort disturbance). Frequently, the two go together. Ego disturbance represents an upset to the self image. It results from holding negative self evaluations about one s self such as I am no good and so on. These beliefs create ego anxiety. Thus, emotional tension resulting from the perception that one s self or personal worth is threatened. Furthermore, it may lead to other problems such as avoidance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unlike the genocide in Darfur, we re aware of a developing situation where large scale genocide has not taken place yet. History further lends a hand in paralleling the cordoning in society of minorities such as the Rohingya with that of the black African minorities in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan. Lessons gained in the events in Sudan should be considered in defending the minorities of Burma who are facing human rights violation. The first step is early engagement and awareness. The Sudanese government refused to allow NGOs into the Nuba Mountains, where genocide by attrition was taking place. However, a London based human rights group, African Rights, played an instrumental part in both reaching out to the Nuba as well as bringing their plight to the attention of the international community. African Rights was able to gain access to the Nuba Mountains and provide valuable communication logistics to the Nuba, which provided a window to the international community of the human rights violations carried out by the Sudanese government. Similarly, Burmese minorities such as the Rohingyas have been separated from the larger Burmese society. They have very little rights and sustenance. A scenario eerily familiar to that of the Nuba people. We need to insert humanitarians within these cordoned communities to document human rights violations. Working in the nursing profession, nurses must be prepared to assess and support the diverse needs of the patient and their family. Every nurse, regardless of his or her specialty, encounters ethical challenges. However, public health nurses may face unique challenges in their distinct focus on the health of the population in addition to individuals (Haugh Mildon, 2005). In this research paper, I will consider two case studies from the perspective of the nursing code of ethics, personal and societal values, and the legal aspects and responsibilities of the nurse. The Nursing Code of Ethics According to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (2015), the code establishes the ethical standard for the profession and provides a guide for nurses to use in ethical analysis and decision making (p. 7). In the first case study, Laura s condition left her unresponsive. Her family is confronted with making medical decisions for her that could impact her quality of life. The code of ethics supports the nurse in this situation though the application of the first three provisions. First, it requires compassion and respect for the individual, whether it is to the patient or her family. It places the nurse s primary obligation to the patient and requires that the nurse advocate for the patient s best interest. Therefore, when Berthold records the event he doesn t regard Bishop Anselm as the real pope, accusing him of illegally taking control of the papacy. This account of the papal schism would therefore lean towards the favor of Henry IV. In Berthold s second version of the account he changes his opinion, Bishop Cadalus of Parma was elected pope by an act of simony, since many bribes were given to certain persons . These weapons meant that the person deposed or excommunicated must not receive of any sacraments and no one must willing follow this person and their rule. Additionally, the cultural elites must be established and well versed in writing and speaking the national language. There must also be a valid reason for its claim on a certain territory. It is only when these three requirements are fulfilled will the international community consider their claim for a nation (Hobsbawm, 1990: 37). According to Herder, people become aware of their heritage when they read or listen to myths, legends and even songs. By doing so, the community captures the Volgeist or the spirit of the people. Language is thus seen as an important medium in spreading a community s culture as it contains people traditions and historical memories. Therefore a nation is defined as the unification of people through the sharing of the same cultural heritage (Heywood, 1997: 105). This approach has been met with several criticisms. Firstly, according to Gellner the definition used is too wide (Gellner, 1983: 53). By adopting the above criteria, any social network with the same cultural norms and values are entitled to call themselves as a nation. This would include clubs or any other associations. Another problem encountered by this definition is the impossibility of limiting cultural boundaries. In addition to that Herder s claim of the unification of the people through a common language could be dismissed as most nations have several national languages due to its multicultural population.
