My Personal Note On Facebook
Slumped in my bed with my laptop is how I spend most days. A duvet, food and youtube are all the
things that make me happy nowadays. That sounds really sad I know, but I don t really see anyone, not
even family to be honest. I m home schooled and my mum is out of the house from 4:30am until
8:00pm trying to earn enough money to support the two of us. Yeah, it s a lonely little life and yeah, it
does feel very isolated.
That s why I find comfort in youtube. The videos are the most comfort I get at the moment, I mean
people are practically talking to you, and that s more than I get in real life. I don t know how to talk to
new people or make friends because I never had to, I m very shy, the only person I talk to is my mum
as we don ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are some youtubers that never fail to make me laugh, even if I m at a low, that can just make me
smile. It s kinda weird to like them for a 14 year old girl, I mean most people my age are probably in
love with Joe Sugg or Caspar Lee, Dan Howell or Phil Lester. But not me. Well, I do love them, but
the people I just can t get enough of are the Yogscast.
I don t know why, they re just hillarious and I absolutely love them. Yes sure call me a geek, a nerd
whatever but I play a lot of the games they do and never miss a new episode of anything. I ve watched
all their series at least twice.
That does sound rather sad but you have to remember I m alone with nothing to do most of the time.
I do all my maths, English, science and media studies (home) school work on my laptop, I also do art.
I sometimes do extra if I feel like I m going to be tired the next day so I can just watch youtube
videos. Yeah, I m taking my GCSEs this year as well as next year and that means that because I m
home schooled, I have to go into a school to take the exams. Not only are exams terrifying, but going
into a giant room full of strangers to do an exam is even scarier.
So, here I am, sat on my bed on a warm Monday afternoon, doing some Biology coursework. I
listened to Ed Sheerans album Multiply . I absolutely adored Ed and particularly enjoyed listening to
Runaway , I have no idea why, it just made the whole idea of running away sound rather

The Theory Of Intelligence And Scientific Evidence
Although most people will propose the question, plant s do not have a brain, therefor how could one
consider them as intelligent organisms? , while they are anatomically correct, determining whether or
not plants actually are intelligent beings depends solely on how one defines the word, intelligent.
Ironically, the definition of intelligence is so vague and difficult to describe that even one provided by
Miriam Webster s dictionary contains the word intelligent on three separate occasions. Accounting for
the lack of substance in this definition, a new one was born; intelligence is the ability to solve
problems, interact with other beings and surrounding, and work in groups. According to this definition
of intelligence and scientific evidence, plants are very intelligent. Similar to the way in which human
beings evaluate a problem and brainstorm solutions, plants are also very astute problem solvers.
Because plants are sedentary, they have to create innovative ways to live and reproduce. While plants
cannot simply get up and walk away when they dislike their environments, they change the way they
grow to optimize their growth (Clark UGS Lecture, Plant Intelligence). Plants have the ability to
generate their own food source, making them self sustaining organisms, rather than having to rely on
other organisms for nutrients. One way that plants optimize their growth is through photosynthesis or
growing away from shaded areas to catch the light every time (TED talk,

Globalization
Globalization is actually an ongoing process of interconnectedness between nations, multinational
corporations (MNCs), international non governmental organizations (INGOs), and individuals.
Globalization has led to a growing gap between those who have access and opportunities by which to
thrive and those who do not. There are now 793 billionaires (as of 2009) representing an essentially
unimaginable amount of wealth. At the same time, there are millions of workers laboring in conditions
we would likely consider inhumane, and doing so for starvation level wages. And still, there are those
who do not even have access to jobs whose conditions are even worse. Globalization can benefit some
but leaves other nation further and further behind.
Inequalities
It can be argued that the trend for global inequality is that The rich get richer, the poor get poorer.
This can be seen in two graphs, the first shows that the high income nations have risen dramatically
compared to the middle and low income nation which only increasing slightly over the years. This
shows that the growth of population in low income countries is much higher that than the high income
countries therefore the widening gap even more.
Most people believe that slavery is on

The Implications Of Genetically Engineered Foods
Genetically engineered foods are defined as foods that have had genes from other animals or plants
(hereby referred to as foreign genes) added onto their genetic codes. The genetic engineering
technique can be employed on animals, plants, or on such microorganisms as bacteria (NIH). The
question of whether foods derived from such organisms should be approved for human consumption is
what has raised widespread controversy among many circles. There are those who view GM foods as
the ultimate solution to major challenges of the 21st century while others see them as a threat to
human health and the environment. Notably, the global society is facing major challenges key among
them being food insecurity and environmental issues such as global warming and climate change.
Genetically engineered foods present a potential solution to these challenges. This paper will argue
that with adequate research and regulation, genetically engineered foods should be approved owing to
the benefits they present in terms of increased food production and quality, as well as eliminating the
need to compromise the environment in the pursuit of more cultivation land and higher crop yield.
In my view, we certainly need genetically engineered foods to fight food insecurity that characterizes
the global society. A look at related statistics denotes a population that is facing serious food security
challenges. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), an estimated 795 million

Johnson and Johnson Analysis
INTRODUCTION
Johnson and Johnson have revolutionized the way people think about health care, and has easily
become the pinnacle of success by doing so. Pioneers of the health care industry and overall human
health and well being, Johnson and Johnson is guided by its Our Credo and founding principle that
doctors and nurses should use sterile sutures, dressings and bandages to treat peoples wounds
(Johnson and Johnson Our History).
Most of Johnson and Johnson s success can be attributed to its emphasis on decentralized
management, which allows for greater focus as the company blankets 250 countries across the world
(Johnson and Johnson Strategic Planning). For the last 120 years, Johnson and Johnson have been on

Ratio Analysis
Financial ratios provide a means to analyze the operations of a company in comparison to its industry
and its historical results.
Liquidity Ratios
Johnson and Johnson has a current ratio of 1.8X which is the same as the current ratio for the industry.
The quick ratio is 1.6X compared to the industry s 1.4X provides further evidence of the company s
liquidity. This will provide needed working capital necessary to develop new products and finance
potential acquisitions. (Ventureline)
Johnson and Johnson s receivables turnover ratio is currently 6.4X and mirrors the current industry
average. It is also higher that it s three major competitors: Merck Company, Novartis AG, and Pfizer,
Inc. This high ratio indicates an efficient collection of credit sales, which minimizes the wait before
funds are received and available for use.
Inventory turnover is currently at 3.6X and slightly better than the industry average of 3.5X. It is also
nearly twice as high as its three major competitors. This provides a competitive advantage since there
is not a high level of inventory that could be deemed obsolete due to new drug developments or
decreased potency. In addition, capital is not tied up in maintaining inventories that do not provide any
return.
Debt Ratios
The current times interest earned ratio for Johnson and Johnson is 25.1X compared to the

Leopold Letter To The King Essay
Throughout his tenure as King of Belgium, Leopold II was primarily known for the founding and
exploitation of the Congo Free State as a private venture. During Leopold s reign as King, it is
estimated that approximately 8 10 million natives perished as a result of the atrocities committed by
Leopold in the Congo. The major atrocities committed by Leopold are listed by George Washington
Williams in his Open Letter to the King: the fooling of Africans into thinking that whites had
supernatural powers, to get Congo chiefs to sign their land over to Leopold (109). The establishment
of military bases along the Congo River which caused a wave of death and destruction among the
natives. The excessive punishments used by Leopold such as condemning prisoners to the chain gang
for slight offenses. The fraud carried out by Leopold that his new state was providing wise
government and public services towards natives (110). The kidnapping of African women by white
traders and state officials (under Leopold) with the intent to use them as concubines. The random
shootings committed by white officers towards villagers in order to intimidate survivors into working
as forced laborers, in order to capture women, and sometimes for sport. Finally, Leopold falsely
portrayed himself as being the noble antislavery crusader and instead engaged in the slave trade under
public radar. In order to try to understand why Leopold carried out these atrocities, it is necessary to
investigate his motivations and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. I am horrified that such brutal treatment of fellow human beings

Why Is The Catcher In The Rye Banned
Rationale: In Language and Literature, my class studied The Catcher in the Rye, a controversial novel
by J.D. Salinger. During the interactive oral, my group discussed the cultural context surrounding the
work and became aware that the book had an infamous history it had been banned in many schools
and libraries across America. Immoral statements, profanity of the language and discrimination topped
the list of reasons for the ban. An interesting point that stirred my curiosity was how the novel has
been implicated in the murder of John Lennon. The murderer, Mark David Chapman had been
influenced greatly by the novel. He was arrested at the scene of the murder clutching a copy of The
Catcher in the Rye so I have decided to explore the implications of this event in the form of a
newspaper article in the arts section of the New York Times published one week after this tragic event
on 15th December, 1980. A journalist for the New York Times, Les Ledbetter broke the news on the
front page on December 9th, 1980, the morning after the murder. I ve taken on the persona of Les
Ledbetter to promote a view that the book should have been banned with my goal being to convince
the readers of the New York Times that this view needs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did The Crusades Affect The Medieval World
IMPACT OF THE CRUSADES ON THE LATE MEDIEVAL WORLD. The Crusades greatly
impacted economic expansion as well as the expansion of Europe as a whole. Europe regained contact
with the outside world, and as it did so, trade with the Middle East, India, and China brought goods as
well as knowledge. Merchants in Italy converted the ships used to carry crusaders into trade ships that
would sail to the Middle East. The Crusaders introduced textiles, spices, foods products and many
more goods to the Europeans from the Middle East, and through all of this trade came the
development of a money economy. The crusaders brought works from Greek philosophers back to
Europe, where Muslim scholars translated them to Latin which prompted further learning in the West.
Europeans learned new castle building ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christians were introduced to Arabic philosophy and science, and along with this came new religious
orders and practices. The church clashed with monarchs after their power increased, and after the
church did not reunite with the Byzantine empire, many started to question the church s motives. Now
that people had the knowledge and resources to read the bible, some felt as though this clashed with
the previous actions of the church. Although this seemed like a time for religious tolerance after such a
conflict fueled by faith, the Reconquista in Spain expelled Muslims out of Spain and those who did
not convert to Christianity were burned at the steak. The crusades set the foundation for the Age of
Exploration. While the Chinese had been traveling as far as Arabia and Africa since 618 AD, the
Crusades influenced nations such as Spain to explore new travel. The Spanish had become inspired to
discover new trade routes, as well as overtake land,

Essay on Executive Summary of Calyx $ Corolla
Executive Summary
Calyx amp; Corolla is a young company that offers a very unique choice for customers who are
interested in buying fresh flowers. Fresh flowers industry valued approximately $9 Billion in the
United States in 1990 with steady market growth rate of 7.7% since 1985. However, the market
potential did not reach the top yet. US fresh flowers market still has more room to grow. Per capita
consumption of flowers and plants in the US was $36 per year, while the average in Europe was $60.
Since a flower diminished its value everyday due to lacking of freshness, efficient distribution is the
key to the flower industry. Calyx amp; Corolla has a distinctive way of delivering flowers to the

Stepping into the growth stage of the business life cycle, Calyx and Corolla was looking for
organizational and financial implications to support a more aggressive long term growth strategies.
This report suggests both short term and long term strategies that align with Calyx and Corolla s long
term goals.
First of all, Calyx and Corolla should further stimulate sales during the peak period and increase the
off peak sales amount in order to stabilize its income and gain more capital to invest in the long term
plan.
In order to achieve in the long run, Calyx and Corolla needs to change its organizational structure to
be more competitive in the fresh flower market. Calyx and Corolla has to be more customer intimated.
Calyx and Corolla has to understand more about the fresh flower consumer buying behavior in order
to expand its market base.
We would suggest Calyx and Corolla to open its direct shops in strategic areas. Calyx and Corolla
should set up at least three new internal departments: formal internal marketing department, a database
management team, and a corporate account team. Customer Relation Management (CRM) is another
management aspect that Calyx and Corolla would want to consider. Last but not least, we would
suggest Calyx and Corolla to fund research for the development of flowers growing

The Experience Of An Indian Citizen
As we boarded the plane to India, my father said, Boys, I planned this trip for one specific reason.
When we return home, both of you are going to be different. You just wait. I was not sure what to
expect from this trip, but I did know that my dad was not joking. Somehow he was going to do
something the make this trip a memorable one. The second we landed, I knew how this trip was going
to be different; instead of treating us like tourists, he set everything up so we would experience India
from the perspective of an Indian citizen.
As a child, my family and I would travel into Philadelphia quite often. We would go to out to dinner
and go sightseeing. I would run up the art museum stairs like Rocky, just not nearly as fast. The
majestic building was created by large stone slabs and magnificently large pillars. We would sit in the
blistering heat of the sun watching the rowers continuously pound away at the water rowing against
the tide, preparing for their big race. There were always beggars, constantly bombarding you, asking
for money. My parents always taught me to never offer less fortunate people money, but instead, offer
them food or a drink. Most of the time when you offer the beggars money, they will take it to buy
drugs or alcohol, or they could pretend to be poor and pocket the money. I carried these same
experiences over to India with me. But India is much different than America. You cannot walk a foot
without seeing a beggar on the side of the road.

Three Aspects Of Comprehensive Assessment
There are three aspects to consider in my comprehensive assessment of Susan. First, the things that
happen to Susan such as the relationship with her children, her husband dying a year ago, and the love
for her cats. Secondly, the things that happen within Susan s environment such as the accident she had,
her church, and her friends. The third aspect is the transaction between the two which I would have to
figure out ways where the client can have both, a healthy and a happy life. The primary concerns I
have in Susan s case is that she is living alone in a small trailer with seven cats. Susan is an older lady
and cannot be alone all the time, soon she will need of someone to be with her all the time. Also, her
children do not live close by her, and that she does not have a good relationship with her daughter. If

when she had her last medical exam. I will check what type of insurance she has and what does it

Talk Show Sociology
From the perspective of the content discussed in these shows, there seem to be a push to distort the
meaning of parenthood whereby children can punish their parents thus placing a burden to the parents.
Another symbol that seems to change under the watch of the talk shows is the marital role. In some
culture, the man is expected to provide for the family financially while the woman should plan
everything in the household. However, these shows promote equal sharing of duties and
responsibilities, which may not agree with some cultures. The meaning of divorce has also changed
over time as more viewership of the talk shows grows.
The functionalist sociological perspective assumes that deviance contributes to social order by
initiating social change. As a result, the talk shows seem to direct the audience and viewers to
experience strain thereby end up becoming deviant instead of conforming to the cultural goals.
Additionally, power plays a critical role in ascertaining the behaviors that should be regarded as
criminal or acceptable. By promoting violence to solve minor issues, Jerry Springer uses his power to
drive people toward accepting such behavior and practicing it over time. ... Show more content on

Ambiguity Of Hamlet And Ophelia
INTRODUCTION
William Shakespeare represents a fairly controversial figure of the renaissance age. Many of different
clashing and contradictory views about him are shared among people and critics.
Even Shakespeare himself who is covered in the wrap of indistinctness and vagueness is enclosed by a
great amount of unreciprocated questions, evokes analysis. Consequently, it does not astonish that
innumerable multitude of people aim to pierce deeper into his work shipping the mark of Shakespeare
ambiguity and answer to some budding questions. The approach towards
Shakespeare s personality but also towards the understanding of his works diverges and proceeds in

It is apparent that still at this complex moment she did not speak much. When Hamlet

These feelings of annoyance, disappointment, betrayal and yet disheartening little by little

daily communication, kinship terms are not only restricted within the framework of nuclear families,
such as bố mẹ (parents), anh (elder brother), chị (elder sister), but also varies in a very complicated list
based on different criteria. According to Le (2013), there are several factors that interlocutors must
base on to decide appropriate kinship terms, such as age, gender, social status, intimacy and
acquaintance. However, within the family context, the hierarchical position is the most important
factor determining which kinship terms will be used by interlocutors. There are two kinds of kinship
terms used by Vietnamese people both inside and outside family context based on paternal and
maternal kin. On the one hand, paternal kinship terms used for people relating to father s relatives,
such as ông nội (paternal grandfather), bà nội (paternal grandmother), chú (father s younger brother),
bác (father s elder brother/sister), cô (father s younger sister), thím (father s younger brother s wife).
On the other hand, maternal kinship terms used for people relating mother s relatives, such as ông

Jacob Kounin s Discipline And Group Management In Classroom
First, Elearn Portal,(2016) post the Kounin Mode theory of Jacob Kounin. He is recognized for two
studies concerning classroom management in the 1970 s. These readings emphasized how teachers
could manage students, lessons and classrooms to reduce the incidence of bad behaviour. This theorist
acknowledged definite teaching techniques that help, and hinder, classroom discipline. Bestowing to
Kounin, the method used, not the teacher s personality, is the most crucial aspect in classroom
management of student behaviour. The title of his book is Discipline and Group Management in
Classrooms which centres on preventive discipline. He says that, good classroom management
depends on operative lesson management. He also acknowledged a group of proactive teacher
behaviours that famed effective classroom managers from ineffective ones. These are; ripple effect,
wittiness, overlapping, effective transitions, momentum, smoothness and class management. (Higgins,
2014)

This management practice states to the teacher s ability to manage smooth transitions between
learning activities. The valuable instructional time is often wasted in the process of the teacher moving
the class from one instructional activity to the next. Smoothness then states to the teacher s ability to
preserve instructional time by eliminating many of the common barriers to a smooth class transition.
The last that was coined by Kounin is group alerting, this is the winning the attention of the whole

The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells Essays
The Invisible Man by H. G. Wells gives an account of a man s descent into madness as the result of
his scientific feat, invisibility. Griffin, the invisible man, first appears as a mysterious stranger,
bandaged and seeking shelter and recluse but progressively transforms into a lawless individual with a
proposition to initiate a reign of terror. The change in Griffin s character occurs due to his invisibility
and the power it provides because there is no one, on this view, who is iron willed enough to maintain
his morality and find the strength of purpose to keep his hands off what does not belong to him, when
he is able to take whatever he wants from the market stalls without fear of being discovered, to enter
houses and sleep with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The invisible man begins to feel limitless and superior to average man, he feels that an invisible man
is a man of power (Wells). Being invisible and the subsequent notion of invincibility causes the
invisible man to act as he pleases as his inhibitions disappear as the fear of being reprimanded is
removed. The absence of consequences strips away the good in Griffin s nature and fosters his
madness as he starts stealing from the markets and begins his spree of breaking into houses.
However, the invisibility that Griffin viewed as power ultimately is a poison as the invisible man must
sacrifice greatly for his for his power. The invisible man schemes grand dreams that can be realized
through his invisibility but discovers that no doubt invisibility made it possible to get them, but it
made it impossible to enjoy them when they are got (Wells 121). Because of his invisibility, the
invisible man finds himself ostracized, in a state of danger, and no longer able to enjoy everyday
customs like eating lunch at a restaurant. Griffin finds himself even unable to celebrate his discovery
with others with fear of that they might steal credit for his feat or that the exposure might cause a
rejection. Due to his invisible state, his grandest ambitions are trivialized and frustrated by the very
discovery that spurred those ambitions (Beiderwell). The anger, madness, and mania that envelop the
invisible man all stem from the abuse of his

High School Students Attend College
The topic I chose to research is all high school students must receive a college degree. The reason why
I chose this top is interesting. For example, the topic is easy to relate to. In addition, it is debatable.
Furthermore, And finally, it is a good help economically. High School Graduates MUST attend college
in order to increase job security, have more jobs opportunities, and have a healthier and happier life.
The first reason all high school graduates must receive a college degree is to have a happier and

TANF Family Policy
According to the 2014 U.S. Census Bureau report, more than 46 million Americans remain below the
poverty line, despite the fact that U.S. taxpayers spend about $1 trillion a year for anti poverty
programs, including TANF, which provides assistance to families with little or no income. In 1996,
Welfare Reform was passed by President Bill Clinton, this legislation was known as the Personal
Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) of 1996 which replaced
President Franklin D. Roosevelt welfare program that was initiated in 1935. The Aid to Families with

It was developed by Adam Smith he formulated the basis of what was later to become the science of
human capital and it was used to study if investing in human capital would lead to greater economic
outputs (what makes one worker more productive than another). This theory indicates that all human
behavior is based on the economics of self interest, of individuals operating within freely competitive
markets. When applied to the study, this theory holds that the independent variable, work based
training influences or explains the dependent variable gaining employment. The belief is that people,
who want high wage employment, will spend more time educating themselves, in their desired field of
employment. This equates to a more qualified candidate; forcing the employer to provide higher pay
(Fitzsimons, 1999). This theory plays a role in supporting the word self sufficient.
The definition of self sufficient for this research is being able to provide ones needs without
government assistance. The Human Capital Theory adds to this definition by stating that it is the belief
that people want more so they do the things necessary for them to become self sufficient. They either

putting them on the road to becoming self sufficient. The goal of being self sufficient applies to every

Mexican Economy Essay
On December 20, 1994, in an attempt to make Mexican products more competitive, Mexican
President, Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de Len, devalued the Mexican Peso. Unfortunately, attempts at
keeping the Peso to only a fifteen percent devaluation failed. The Peso dropped almost forty percent
(Roberts, 1). It went from 3.5 to almost 7.5 peso s to the dollar before it stabilized. The devaluation
not only sent shockwaves through the Mexican economy, but through the rest of the world. Why
should the world now risk it s money to save Mexico? Why not just let the Mexican economy and
government collapse? To calm these shock waves United States President Bill Clinton, acting on his
executive order, organized an approximately $49.5 billion aid ... Show more content on

With the threat of rebels in the south or the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) possibly
overthrowing the government, the rewards that foreign investors were about to reap from the large
scale Mexican privatization were quickly fading, hence the devaluation of the Peso in 1982. Who
wants to invest in Mexican institutions if the government no longer has the power to protect them and
insure their prosperity? The socialist party managed to take control of the government and
nationalized everything in sight, costing investors billions of dollars in lost property (Roberts, 3).
Investors were facing the gloomy possibility of losing billions, even trillions of dollars to
nationalization. Mexican stocks, debt, and currency would be rendered worthless. If a socialistic
government were to take control of Mexico, then every other rebel group and socialist party in Latin
America would now seize this opportunity and throw their own rebellions possibly erupting a situation
in Latin America where not only the moneys, but the militaries of the world would be needed to once
again bring stabilization to this region of the world. This would give new meaning to the words:

Virginia Woolf Influences
Sometimes authors lives are almost as interesting as the work they produce, and Virginia Woolf s life
is a tremendous example of this. As a woman writing in the early 20th century, Woolf offers a unique
voice that speaks both to her own fascinating life and to the historical moment in which she was
writing.
Woolf was born in 1882 in London, and throughout her life she had the opportunity to surround
herself with London s elite thinkers. She began writing early and published her first novel, The
Voyage Out, in 1915. She would go on to write numerous novels, short stories, and works of
nonfiction. Some of her most influential writings include Orlando, A Room of One s Own, and Mrs.
Dalloway.
Throughout her life, Woolf suffered from nervous breakdowns and depression, and in 1941, having
filled her jacket with stones, Woolf drowned herself in a river. Although Woolf s ... Show more content

These changes, combined with the human capacity for evil that was displayed during WWI, resulted
in many artists believing that it was necessary to disregard traditional art forms and philosophies and
to attempt to create new and revolutionary works of art. This revolutionary movement came to be
known as modernism. Modernists were eager to experiment and attempted to complicate reality and
how we believe that we understand reality.
Woolf s own work reflects many of the ideals of the modernist movement. Her narration is defined by
its stream of conscience quality; rather than having a fixed narrator with a fixed perspective, Woolf
goes in and out of the minds of different characters, making unexpected connections that are not
always clear or necessarily rational. This feature of her writing allows her to produce stories that are
less driven by the plot than by the beauty of the minute details that make up the experience of

When Beethoven made a debut as a composer, he was writing a work that was bright and vibrant
faithful to the classical style, without being bothered by ear disorders. It is pointed out that this style is

wrote the will. Beethoven escaped this crisis by rediscovering the form of the Viennese classical
school. In other words, rather than the predecessors of the two Viennese classicalists, emphasis was
placed on the development and development and transformation of the motive as a material, pursuing
formal and constructive things. After this is called the middle term, succeeded in expanding the

Johannes Kepler Essay
Johannes Kepler
Johannes Kepler is now remembered for discovering the three laws of planetary motion, and writing
about them in books that were published in 1609 and 1619. He also did important work in optics,
discovered two new regular polyhedra, gave the first mathematical treatment of close packing of equal
spheres, gave the first proof of how logarithms worked, and devised a method of finding the volumes
of solids of revolution. This can be seen as contributing to the development of calculus. Not only did
he help the development of calculus, but he calculated the most exact astronomical tables known
today. This accuracy did much to establish the truth of heliocentric astronomy, which states that ...

The curriculum included geocentric astronomy. This is the study of how all seven planets at the time
Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn moved around the Earth. Their positions to the
stars were being calculated by combining circular motions. This system was what worked with the
current physics of the time, although there were certain difficulties. However, these astronomers, who
also saw themselves as mathematicians, were content to carry on calculating positions of planets. They
figured they would leave it to natural philosophers to worry about whether the mathematical figures
added up to the physical ones. Kepler, however, did not take like this attitude. His earliest published
work in 1956 says that people should consider the actual paths of the planets, and not just the circles
used to construct them.
At Tubingen, Kepler studied Greek and Hebrew as well as mathematics. Ironically, at the end of his
first year Kepler got A s in every subject except mathematics. It is supposed that Maestlin was trying
to tell him he could do better, because Kepler was one of the select pupils that Maestlin chose to teach
more advanced astronomy to. He was teaching them the new, heliocentric cosmological system that
was formed by Copernicus. Kepler almost instantly accepted that the Copernican system was
physically true.
It seems that even in Kepler s student days there were signs that his religious beliefs were not

all.
We were going on a family trip that I had been dying to go on. My parents finally agreed, so we were

to one of the crushed cars I could see people trying to force the door open with what look like a
wrench. The door burst open with multiple tugs with the wrench.
A body fell out. My eyes widened with disbelief as I saw a black liquid coming from the girl s body,
making a pool of a dark substance next to her. You have to clean the oil off of her! It could get into her

Antisemitism In The Holocaust
In contemporary society holocaust literature is considered rudimentary by intellectuals, to
continuously remind young scholars about the Third Reich and Nazi crimes against Jews. Deep
reflection allows one to understand the desperation driving the nation in their pursuit of worldwide
domination. The serious nature associated with Holocaust causes the authors to be weary as not to
lower standards by creating a pulp fiction narrative. The authors strive to positively compound the
subject s potential, and gain momentum toward standards in integrity. Therefore, these authors choose
not to resort to secularism, deriving inspiration from Jewish culture and religion. For the sake of the
reader, the balance lies at maintaining respect for self and ancestors, while also keeping audience
interest. These authors burdened themselves with the survival of a people. At the core of antisemitism
is the denial of Jewish history, and especially the holocaust. Modern anti Semitism isn t based on
religion, but on the theory that Jews are an inferior race. These ideas derive from the Enlightenment
period (17th 18th century) in Europe. The same ideals that motivated the German sponsored holocaust
of the 20th century.
The problem of how to tell the survivor s story through narrative raises the question of how can you
tell the story of a survivor whose people have been oppressed throughout history, and are still
oppressed to this date? A more abstract antithesis can be how to tell the victims

Examples Of Hyperbole In Romeo And Juliet
Mokokoma Mokhonoana once said, Love songs are nothing without exaggeration . Even though
Romeo and Juliet is not a love song, their love story is not the same without hyperbole. Hyperbolic
citations help to develop character because it quickly shows what characters are like based on the
things they say and do. In Romeo and Juliet, characters develop immensely throughout the play due to
hyperbole because of how it showcases the characters emotions and actions. Both Romeo and Juliet s
characters use hyperbole frequently and without it, their love would not be the same. In William
Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet , hyperbole helps to develop the characters immaturity and hasty

After kissing Romeo for the first time, Juliet refers to Romeo as a saint, For saints have hands that
pilgrims hands do touch, and palm to palm is holy palmers kiss (I.V.99). By using a hyperbole like
that, Juliet is demonstrating how immature she is, because of how passionate she considers their love
to be in only a few minutes. Within the day of meeting Romeo, Juliet is already saying that [her]
bounty is as boundless as the sea, [her] love as deep [and] the more [she] give[s] to thee, the more [she
has] for both are infinite (II.II.133 135). A hyperbole as dramatic as what Juliet describes her love for
Romeo to be, explains how passionate and dramatic Juliet is when it comes to her love for Romeo,
making Juliet s character immature and dramatic. It does so because she has only known him for a day
and she is already saying that her love for Romeo is infinite, whereas if she was more mature she may
want to take her time and get to know him first. Also, with knowing Romeo for less than a day Juliet
asks [Romeo to] propose marriage (II.II.144) and she says that she would follow [him], [her] lord
throughout the world (II.II.148) once again proving how dramatic and immature Juliet is. Comparing
Romeo to a lord, shows how Juliet feels about their love, she considers it to be very passionate and

How Did The Tension That Lead To The Cuban Missile Crisis
The tensions that developed between Cuba and the USA almost led to a nuclear disaster during the

poor US Cuban attitudes. This escalated tensions to the point where Cuba became the middle man in a

Analysis Of Le Mot Juste In The Awakening By Kate Chopin
Le mot juste, the perfect word, can be used in any novel and the perfect phrase can be used to
summarize any novel. Within the novella The Awakening by Kate Chopin, it traverses many themes of
oppression, transcendentalism, and women s rights. It is about a woman named Edna awakening from
the stupor placed by society. There are many notable phrases about the state of women s rights with
many themes and connections. The one that stands out, or rather the lack of it makes it the perfect
phrase to summarize the novel. Within the pages of chapter 17 lies the sentence But her small boot
heel did not make an indenture, not a mark upon the little glittering circlet (Chopin 52). At first glance
this sentence is an average length describing the impact of an event, an afterthought and effect to a
climax or conflict. Even the sentence is located is between 3 notable moments between the ruined
dinner with Mr. Pontellier, the stamping of her wedding ring and the violent crashing of the vase. This
sentence is insignificant compared to the surrounding sentences, only describing the her lack of effect
on the wedding ring. Just as the brightest flame casts the darkest shadow, a supporting sentence will
fade into the background if the main scene is stronger and it will make the climax of the sentence
stand out. This sentence contrasts against the other actions taken by Edna, it is quite passive in terms
of actions described. It seems to pass by in a quick moment, forgotten, and then

Superdry is a clothing company inspired by a trip to Tokyo in 2003. They aim to create clothing that

Another reason could be that Superdry is a very distinctive brand, with its bright colours,
contemporary design and Japanese characters in all of their clothing. Due to the economic downturn
many mid range high street stores are closing down or suffering from a lack of sales, but not Superdry.
They are one of very few stores that are actually doing well through this period. Due to Superdrys
success and distinctive look, other companies have openly looked to copy them. Some comical
examples of these are Superfry and Silverdry. As a result, Superdry spends £1million a year
preventing people from copying their clothing. In 2009, the Times ran a story about Superdry
employing two bodyguards to prevent unaccredited buyers from entering and taking pictures at a

was snapped in. Superdry seeked for compensation, and Primark were ordered to stop producing the

  • 2. My Personal Note On Facebook Slumped in my bed with my laptop is how I spend most days. A duvet, food and youtube are all the things that make me happy nowadays. That sounds really sad I know, but I don t really see anyone, not even family to be honest. I m home schooled and my mum is out of the house from 4:30am until 8:00pm trying to earn enough money to support the two of us. Yeah, it s a lonely little life and yeah, it does feel very isolated. That s why I find comfort in youtube. The videos are the most comfort I get at the moment, I mean people are practically talking to you, and that s more than I get in real life. I don t know how to talk to new people or make friends because I never had to, I m very shy, the only person I talk to is my mum as we don ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are some youtubers that never fail to make me laugh, even if I m at a low, that can just make me smile. It s kinda weird to like them for a 14 year old girl, I mean most people my age are probably in love with Joe Sugg or Caspar Lee, Dan Howell or Phil Lester. But not me. Well, I do love them, but the people I just can t get enough of are the Yogscast. I don t know why, they re just hillarious and I absolutely love them. Yes sure call me a geek, a nerd whatever but I play a lot of the games they do and never miss a new episode of anything. I ve watched all their series at least twice. That does sound rather sad but you have to remember I m alone with nothing to do most of the time. I do all my maths, English, science and media studies (home) school work on my laptop, I also do art. I sometimes do extra if I feel like I m going to be tired the next day so I can just watch youtube videos. Yeah, I m taking my GCSEs this year as well as next year and that means that because I m home schooled, I have to go into a school to take the exams. Not only are exams terrifying, but going into a giant room full of strangers to do an exam is even scarier. So, here I am, sat on my bed on a warm Monday afternoon, doing some Biology coursework. I listened to Ed Sheerans album Multiply . I absolutely adored Ed and particularly enjoyed listening to Runaway , I have no idea why, it just made the whole idea of running away sound rather ... • 3. The Theory Of Intelligence And Scientific Evidence Although most people will propose the question, plant s do not have a brain, therefor how could one consider them as intelligent organisms? , while they are anatomically correct, determining whether or not plants actually are intelligent beings depends solely on how one defines the word, intelligent. Ironically, the definition of intelligence is so vague and difficult to describe that even one provided by Miriam Webster s dictionary contains the word intelligent on three separate occasions. Accounting for the lack of substance in this definition, a new one was born; intelligence is the ability to solve problems, interact with other beings and surrounding, and work in groups. According to this definition of intelligence and scientific evidence, plants are very intelligent. Similar to the way in which human beings evaluate a problem and brainstorm solutions, plants are also very astute problem solvers. Because plants are sedentary, they have to create innovative ways to live and reproduce. While plants cannot simply get up and walk away when they dislike their environments, they change the way they grow to optimize their growth (Clark UGS Lecture, Plant Intelligence). Plants have the ability to generate their own food source, making them self sustaining organisms, rather than having to rely on other organisms for nutrients. One way that plants optimize their growth is through photosynthesis or growing away from shaded areas to catch the light every time (TED talk, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We ll keep you in the loop about our progress through petition posts and encourage everyone to get on board. Globalization Globalization is actually an ongoing process of interconnectedness between nations, multinational corporations (MNCs), international non governmental organizations (INGOs), and individuals. Globalization has led to a growing gap between those who have access and opportunities by which to thrive and those who do not. There are now 793 billionaires (as of 2009) representing an essentially unimaginable amount of wealth. At the same time, there are millions of workers laboring in conditions we would likely consider inhumane, and doing so for starvation level wages. And still, there are those who do not even have access to jobs whose conditions are even worse. Globalization can benefit some but leaves other nation further and further behind. Inequalities It can be argued that the trend for global inequality is that The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. This can be seen in two graphs, the first shows that the high income nations have risen dramatically compared to the middle and low income nation which only increasing slightly over the years. This shows that the growth of population in low income countries is much higher that than the high income countries therefore the widening gap even more. Most people believe that slavery is on ... • 5. The Implications Of Genetically Engineered Foods Genetically engineered foods are defined as foods that have had genes from other animals or plants (hereby referred to as foreign genes) added onto their genetic codes. The genetic engineering technique can be employed on animals, plants, or on such microorganisms as bacteria (NIH). The question of whether foods derived from such organisms should be approved for human consumption is what has raised widespread controversy among many circles. There are those who view GM foods as the ultimate solution to major challenges of the 21st century while others see them as a threat to human health and the environment. Notably, the global society is facing major challenges key among them being food insecurity and environmental issues such as global warming and climate change. Genetically engineered foods present a potential solution to these challenges. This paper will argue that with adequate research and regulation, genetically engineered foods should be approved owing to the benefits they present in terms of increased food production and quality, as well as eliminating the need to compromise the environment in the pursuit of more cultivation land and higher crop yield. In my view, we certainly need genetically engineered foods to fight food insecurity that characterizes the global society. A look at related statistics denotes a population that is facing serious food security challenges. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), an estimated 795 million ... Pioneers of the health care industry and overall human health and well being, Johnson and Johnson is guided by its Our Credo and founding principle that doctors and nurses should use sterile sutures, dressings and bandages to treat peoples wounds (Johnson and Johnson Our History). Most of Johnson and Johnson s success can be attributed to its emphasis on decentralized management, which allows for greater focus as the company blankets 250 countries across the world (Johnson and Johnson Strategic Planning). [pic] Figure 2. 2006 2009 Revenue, Expenses, And Income Figures For All Business Segments Ratio Analysis Financial ratios provide a means to analyze the operations of a company in comparison to its industry and its historical results. Liquidity Ratios Johnson and Johnson has a current ratio of 1.8X which is the same as the current ratio for the industry. The quick ratio is 1.6X compared to the industry s 1.4X provides further evidence of the company s liquidity. This will provide needed working capital necessary to develop new products and finance potential acquisitions. (Ventureline) Johnson and Johnson s receivables turnover ratio is currently 6.4X and mirrors the current industry average. It is also higher that it s three major competitors: Merck Company, Novartis AG, and Pfizer, Inc. This high ratio indicates an efficient collection of credit sales, which minimizes the wait before funds are received and available for use. Inventory turnover is currently at 3.6X and slightly better than the industry average of 3.5X. It is also nearly twice as high as its three major competitors. This provides a competitive advantage since there is not a high level of inventory that could be deemed obsolete due to new drug developments or decreased potency. In addition, capital is not tied up in maintaining inventories that do not provide any return. Debt Ratios

  • 8. Leopold Letter To The King Essay Throughout his tenure as King of Belgium, Leopold II was primarily known for the founding and exploitation of the Congo Free State as a private venture. During Leopold s reign as King, it is estimated that approximately 8 10 million natives perished as a result of the atrocities committed by Leopold in the Congo. The major atrocities committed by Leopold are listed by George Washington Williams in his Open Letter to the King: the fooling of Africans into thinking that whites had supernatural powers, to get Congo chiefs to sign their land over to Leopold (109). The establishment of military bases along the Congo River which caused a wave of death and destruction among the natives. The excessive punishments used by Leopold such as condemning prisoners to the chain gang for slight offenses. The fraud carried out by Leopold that his new state was providing wise government and public services towards natives (110). The kidnapping of African women by white traders and state officials (under Leopold) with the intent to use them as concubines. The random shootings committed by white officers towards villagers in order to intimidate survivors into working as forced laborers, in order to capture women, and sometimes for sport. Finally, Leopold falsely portrayed himself as being the noble antislavery crusader and instead engaged in the slave trade under public radar. In order to try to understand why Leopold carried out these atrocities, it is necessary to investigate his motivations and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 9. Why Is The Catcher In The Rye Banned Rationale: In Language and Literature, my class studied The Catcher in the Rye, a controversial novel by J.D. Salinger. During the interactive oral, my group discussed the cultural context surrounding the work and became aware that the book had an infamous history it had been banned in many schools and libraries across America. Immoral statements, profanity of the language and discrimination topped the list of reasons for the ban. An interesting point that stirred my curiosity was how the novel has been implicated in the murder of John Lennon. The murderer, Mark David Chapman had been influenced greatly by the novel. He was arrested at the scene of the murder clutching a copy of The Catcher in the Rye so I have decided to explore the implications of this event in the form of a newspaper article in the arts section of the New York Times published one week after this tragic event on 15th December, 1980. A journalist for the New York Times, Les Ledbetter broke the news on the front page on December 9th, 1980, the morning after the murder. I ve taken on the persona of Les Ledbetter to promote a view that the book should have been banned with my goal being to convince the readers of the New York Times that this view needs ... She is learning to be out on her own for the first time in her life. Because she is away at school she does not have the guidance that her parents once gave her. She has to make decisions about her life and life choices. So far she has not had much success in making these choices. She almost decided to quit school and move in with her boyfriend. This poor planning has left her very behind in school making her have to attend for an extra year in order to graduate. She also decided that it was all right to smoke marijuana. This led to problems with the law, which is not good considering that she is a criminal justice major. Next year she will be moving into an apartment and will have to work in order to support herself. This is another step toward autonomy from her parents. The Crusades greatly impacted economic expansion as well as the expansion of Europe as a whole. Europe regained contact with the outside world, and as it did so, trade with the Middle East, India, and China brought goods as well as knowledge. Merchants in Italy converted the ships used to carry crusaders into trade ships that would sail to the Middle East. The Crusaders introduced textiles, spices, foods products and many more goods to the Europeans from the Middle East, and through all of this trade came the development of a money economy. The crusaders brought works from Greek philosophers back to Europe, where Muslim scholars translated them to Latin which prompted further learning in the West. Somehow he was going to do something the make this trip a memorable one. The second we landed, I knew how this trip was going to be different; instead of treating us like tourists, he set everything up so we would experience India from the perspective of an Indian citizen. Most of the time when you offer the beggars money, they will take it to buy drugs or alcohol, or they could pretend to be poor and pocket the money. Talk Show Sociology From the perspective of the content discussed in these shows, there seem to be a push to distort the meaning of parenthood whereby children can punish their parents thus placing a burden to the parents. Another symbol that seems to change under the watch of the talk shows is the marital role. In some culture, the man is expected to provide for the family financially while the woman should plan everything in the household. However, these shows promote equal sharing of duties and responsibilities, which may not agree with some cultures. The functionalist sociological perspective assumes that deviance contributes to social order by initiating social change. As a result, the talk shows seem to direct the audience and viewers to experience strain thereby end up becoming deviant instead of conforming to the cultural goals. However, these astronomers, who also saw themselves as mathematicians, were content to carry on calculating positions of planets. They figured they would leave it to natural philosophers to worry about whether the mathematical figures added up to the physical ones. Kepler, however, did not take like this attitude. His earliest published work in 1956 says that people should consider the actual paths of the planets, and not just the circles used to construct them. Therefore, these authors choose not to resort to secularism, deriving inspiration from Jewish culture and religion. For the sake of the reader, the balance lies at maintaining respect for self and ancestors, while also keeping audience interest. These authors burdened themselves with the survival of a people. At the core of antisemitism is the denial of Jewish history, and especially the holocaust. Modern anti Semitism isn t based on religion, but on the theory that Jews are an inferior race. These ideas derive from the Enlightenment period (17th 18th century) in Europe. The same ideals that motivated the German sponsored holocaust of the 20th century. The problem of how to tell the survivor s story through narrative raises the question of how can you tell the story of a survivor whose people have been oppressed throughout history, and are still oppressed to this date? A more abstract antithesis can be how to tell the victims ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Examples Of Hyperbole In Romeo And Juliet Mokokoma Mokhonoana once said, Love songs are nothing without exaggeration . Even though Romeo and Juliet is not a love song, their love story is not the same without hyperbole. Hyperbolic citations help to develop character because it quickly shows what characters are like based on the things they say and do. In Romeo and Juliet, characters develop immensely throughout the play due to hyperbole because of how it showcases the characters emotions and actions. Both Romeo and Juliet s characters use hyperbole frequently and without it, their love would not be the same. In William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet , hyperbole helps to develop the characters immaturity and hasty decisions, by exaggerating their emotions and actions highlighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After kissing Romeo for the first time, Juliet refers to Romeo as a saint, For saints have hands that pilgrims hands do touch, and palm to palm is holy palmers kiss (I.V.99). By using a hyperbole like that, Juliet is demonstrating how immature she is, because of how passionate she considers their love to be in only a few minutes. Within the day of meeting Romeo, Juliet is already saying that [her] bounty is as boundless as the sea, [her] love as deep [and] the more [she] give[s] to thee, the more [she has] for both are infinite (II.II.133 135). A hyperbole as dramatic as what Juliet describes her love for Romeo to be, explains how passionate and dramatic Juliet is when it comes to her love for Romeo, making Juliet s character immature and dramatic. It does so because she has only known him for a day and she is already saying that her love for Romeo is infinite, whereas if she was more mature she may want to take her time and get to know him first. Also, with knowing Romeo for less than a day Juliet asks [Romeo to] propose marriage (II.II.144) and she says that she would follow [him], [her] lord throughout the world (II.II.148) once again proving how dramatic and immature Juliet is. Comparing Romeo to a lord, shows how Juliet feels about their love, she considers it to be very passionate and doesn t seem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. How Did The Tension That Lead To The Cuban Missile Crisis The tensions that developed between Cuba and the USA almost led to a nuclear disaster during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. Tensions between these two countries brought about the perfect conditions for a nuclear confrontation between the USA and Soviet Union; occurring as a result of poor US Cuban attitudes. This escalated tensions to the point where Cuba became the middle man in a nuclear stand off between the superpowers during the Cuban Missile crisis in 1962. The attitudes of Cuba and the United States (towards one another) set the stage for a constant distasteful battle between the two countries that fuelled the fire of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Both race have been subjected to hate due to the color of their skin, or race that they are. Genocide and slavery have been apart of the black and Jewish community due to the amount of hate that the were toward them races. Because of all the racism that was going on between there were many speeches and many marches Held in predominantly Jewish and Black communities. Many of the marches that took placed played a big part in the freedom of these to races especially for the African American communities. What I find to be very interesting about the first amendment is that because we have freedom of speech the Klu Klux Klan also known as the KKK are able to hold meetings and speeches that they have against the black communities. I agree that people here in the United States of America should be able to have freedom of speech but do I agree that that KKK should be able to hold hate marches and speeches? Will this is a very difficult question for me to answer because I am an African American, so my first answer is to say no, but when I use my critical thinking that I have learned in this class I say yes they should be able to hold Hate speech. I look back to the famous speech in the black communities that were held to lead our way to freedom such as the I Have a dream Speech by martin Luther King or the Million Man March was held by Minster Farrakhan there were a lot of people that didn t believe in the movement that was happening during that time period but if it wasn t for the first amendment in the Bill of Rights Marches and Speeches would have never been able to ... • 35. Analysis Of Le Mot Juste In The Awakening By Kate Chopin Le mot juste, the perfect word, can be used in any novel and the perfect phrase can be used to summarize any novel. Within the novella The Awakening by Kate Chopin, it traverses many themes of oppression, transcendentalism, and women s rights. It is about a woman named Edna awakening from the stupor placed by society. There are many notable phrases about the state of women s rights with many themes and connections. The one that stands out, or rather the lack of it makes it the perfect phrase to summarize the novel. Within the pages of chapter 17 lies the sentence But her small boot heel did not make an indenture, not a mark upon the little glittering circlet (Chopin 52). At first glance this sentence is an average length describing the impact of an event, an afterthought and effect to a climax or conflict. Even the sentence is located is between 3 notable moments between the ruined dinner with Mr. Pontellier, the stamping of her wedding ring and the violent crashing of the vase. This sentence is insignificant compared to the surrounding sentences, only describing the her lack of effect on the wedding ring. Just as the brightest flame casts the darkest shadow, a supporting sentence will fade into the background if the main scene is stronger and it will make the climax of the sentence stand out. This sentence contrasts against the other actions taken by Edna, it is quite passive in terms of actions described. It seems to pass by in a quick moment, forgotten, and then ... They aim to create clothing that incorporates 3 cultures: Japanese, American and British. They manage to do so by merging together British tailoring with Americana design, with subtle hints of Japanese characters. As a result, Superdry is a unique clothing brand with an exceptional amount of detail, leading to it being a very popular brand for those 16 35. Another aspect that has made the brand so popular is the fact that many celebrities have been pictured wearing the brand. The most famous of these is probably David Beckham who was snapped wearing their Brad leather jacket, which then went on to sell 77,000 in just 2 years. This report aims to ... Another reason could be that Superdry is a very distinctive brand, with its bright colours, contemporary design and Japanese characters in all of their clothing. Due to the economic downturn many mid range high street stores are closing down or suffering from a lack of sales, but not Superdry. They are one of very few stores that are actually doing well through this period. Due to Superdrys success and distinctive look, other companies have openly looked to copy them. Some comical examples of these are Superfry and Silverdry. As a result, Superdry spends £1million a year preventing people from copying their clothing. In 2009, the Times ran a story about Superdry employing two bodyguards to prevent unaccredited buyers from entering and taking pictures at a German trade fair. Primark started selling an almost identical jacket to that of the one David Beckham was snapped in. Superdry seeked for compensation, and Primark were ordered to stop producing the jacket and give up any remaining stock. In his mental institute no one has been allowed to leave and they are confined within the rigid walls of their prison with Nurse Ratched being the authoritative person. McMurphy feels the fishing trip is necessary as it allows the men and women to be prepared for the dangers of sea. This indirectly hints that he wants to prepare them for the real world, in the middle of the sea where they have danger lurking in all open corners and they had to fend for themselves. In part 4, the Big Nurse smiles and talks about McMurphy, Crazy like a fox... I believe that is what you re trying to say about Mr. McMurphy. This is during the scene in which all the individuals in the mental asylum gather together and tell each other funny stories and that s when they ask what makes McMurphy tick.
