In India, as per the ancient and historical culture, tradition, customs and practices, marriages are

Those typical responsibilities of a married couple does not thrust on the individuals living together in
this kind of relationships. The basic foundation of live in relationship itself is individual freedom.
Unfortunately, no specific law has been recognized to deal with a live in relationship in India. No
legislation has been formulated to define the rights and obligations of the parties in the relationships
and the status of children born to such couples when it is proved as bigamy of male in the relationship.
A live in relationship is not recognized by Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 or any other current statute.
Therefore this particular law does not discussion about either parties or the children born to them. The
Courts have taken the view that where a man and a woman live together as husband and wife for a
long term, the law will presume that they were legally married unless proved contrary. The Protection
of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 provides for the protection, maintenance and right of
palimony to a live in partner, if she complains, but nowhere mentioned anything about children again.
Research Area:
If a spouse in live in relationship is married, the man could be guilty of adultery which is punishable
under section 497 of the IPC. But if the relationship is proved invalid then the children became

Jem Finch Character Development
To Kill a Mockingbird was written by Harper Lee and was published in 1960. This story occurs in the
1930 s. The story is told in first person participant as told by Scout Finch. The story takes place in
Maycomb county Alabama. There are many impotent characters who play a crucial role on the
evolution in the story.
There are six main characters who play a role in the development of the story. These six characters are
Scout Finch, Jem Finch, Atticus, Tom Robinson, Calpurnia and Boo Radley. Scout Finch is the
daughter of Atticus Finch and she is a central character. She is controlling, a genius and is a tom boy.
The story would be radically different without her. Jem is Scout s older brother, he is a teenager, loves
football and he takes care ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The expedition starts with introducing Maycomb county to the reader. Next the book introduces the
reader to the Finch family. This is when Scout, Jem and Atticus become central characters. After this
the book tells the reader about the Ewell family, they are not such good news. Around the same time
Scout, Jem and Dill (their friend) play the Boo Radley game. Conflicts arise in the story when Scout,
Jem and Dill start to annoy Boo Radley, their quiet neighbor. Action picks up when Tom Robinson
(black man) is arrested for allegedly beating Mayella Ewell (white woman). Atticus Finch is a lawyer
in town and he takes on Tom Robinson s case. To Kill a Mockingbird reaches a climax when Tom
Robinson is wrongly convicted of the crime. Atticus made the jury stay out for a while to think about
their decision. Ultimately Tom gets convicted, he tried to escape prison but he got shot by the guards.
This is a turning point in the story because a lot of people are mad at Atticus, specifically Bob Ewell.
Atticus undermined Bob s character during the trial accusing Bob of committing the crime. The falling
action consists of a false sense that things are calming down in the Maycomb community but that all
changes when Bob Ewell attacks Scout and Jem on a night near Halloween. He attacks them with a
kitchen knife. Boo Radley came to the rescue and killed Bob. During the scuffle, Jem s arm gets
broken in this ordeal. The story ends with an unexpected meeting between two characters. Bob gets
stabbed by Boo but Mr. Tate(sheriff) says that Bob fell on his own knife. Mr. Tate does this so Boo
does not need to go to court. After overhearing this conversation, Scout decides to walk Boo home and
he will never be seen

There are numerous motivational theories that have been discussed and tested. Different students
unknowingly, or sometimes knowingly, utilize different theories since no two students are alike. Many
teachers acknowledge that different students are motivated by different things, whether it be intrinsic
extrinsic, self efficacy or interest. Not only can gender and age differences affect motivation, but the
student s self efficacy and level of goal setting also affect the student s motivation. As a teacher, it has
been noted that certain students are motivated to do certain tasks while others are not. In order to
learn, students need to be motivated. One of the most difficult challenges of teaching is fighting the
battle of motivating the students, which then leads to supporting them and helping them motivate
themselves.
Textbook Summary
The textbook definition for motivation is the inner state that energizes, directs, and sustains behavior.
(Ormrod, 2015, p. 186) It goes on to state that humans usually tend to work with a purpose.
Motivation not only influences the activities that learners choose, but it also affects the degree to
which they engage in those activities (Ormrod, 2015, p. 186). While teachers do play a big part in
motivating students, motivation also has to come from within the students. In order for students to feel
motivated, they must have certain primary

Analysis Of The Plastic Pink Flamingo By Jennifer Price
Scattered in lawns throughout the United States, the pink flamingo is an American icon. We all know,
and probably don t love them. But how do people who are living outside of the United States or who
are new to life in the United States view them? Jennifer Price has just the answer. In her essay The
Plastic Pink Flamingo: A Natural History , Jennifer Price uses diction, cultural allusions, and
organization to reveal her view of the American Population as superficial, materialistic, and trivial.
Price begins her essay by explaining the flamingo s rapid appearance in United States culture and the
connotations behind the bird while using diction and cultural allusions to characterize United States
culture as trivial, superficial and materialistic. Price uses a low level of diction in paragraph one
through words like pizzaz and playful . Her informal diction demonstrates her view that United States
culture holds trivial things, like flamingo s, with too much importance. Price continues on to describe
the superficial value of the bird. The plastic flamingo is inscribed...emphatically across United States
lawns, its owners hoping to attach themselves to ideas of wealth. Those who place flamingo s in their
lawn are looking to benefit from the wealthy face value of the bird, they do not wish to suffer any
detriment from the less known irony surrounding the flamingos extinction. It is only right that this
flamingo revolution would be centered in Las Vegas the flamboyant oasis filled with instant riches...
Las Vegas is a city built on money and expensive material things, the same foundation the ever
important flamingo is built on.
Price continues building her portrayal of United States culture as superficial and materialistic with
detailed descriptions of household items. By downsizing from large scale hotels described in her first
two paragraphs to small scale household items in her third paragraph, Price exemplifies the
materialistic ways of United States culture. Americans purchased washing machines, cars, and kitchen
countertops in the various shades of pink. The desire of Americans to own the audacious color
displays their need for material possessions. Price describes the shades of pink available,

The Grounds Of The Arena
Taxpayer can also bring a claim against the owner of the arena, the City of Milwaukee, for failing to
maintain the arena in a reasonably safe condition for spectators. Generally, the owner of a sports
venue must use reasonable care to protect spectators from the harm that exists due to the sports event.
However, extent of protection depends on the venue and the inherent risks of the sport. For example,
determining if a golf course is in a reasonably safe condition includes considering its design,
protections for spectators, and the manner in which the coarse is operated. In baseball it is generally
accepted that owners of stadiums owe a duty to protect spectators seating behind home plate and on
the baseline from foul balls. Further, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, it is likely that the safe place statute would be applied to it. Additionally, spectators at
the game, like those at a baseball game, will likely be found as frequenters. Thus, the City of
Milwaukee probably owed a duty to keep the arena as reasonably safe as possible under Wisconsin s
safe place statute.
Under the safe place statute, Taxpayer can make several claims that the City of Milwaukee was
negligent in maintaining the course. First, Taxpayer can assert that the City failed in their duty to warn
spectators of the risks of an errant ball. However, the National Basketball Association ( NBA ), the
largest professional basketball in the world, does not require arena owners to warn spectators of the
risks for attending a basketball game, particularly those inherent with courtside seats. Unfortunately,
courts have yet to address the issue of to what extent, if any, an owner of a basketball stadium has to
warn spectators of potential risks. A determination of if a basketball arena s owner duty to warn will
likely require the court to look at unique circumstance of a basketball game, using the duty to warn
spectators in golf, baseball, and hockey as guidance but not binding precedent. Ultimately, it is likely
that a court would find that no duty to warn spectators exist because the risks of setting courtside at a
basketball game, literally feet from the intense action of the game, should be

The Role Of Marriage In The Kreutzer Sonata By Leo Tolstoy
The novella The Kreutzer Sonata, written by Leo Tolstoy, discusses the issues of gender inequality and
socio economic status through jealousy and rage over the portrayed relationship of marriage. Tolstoy
also explores the themes of how the female gender is portrayed through marriage in the novella during
the 1880s through the main protagonist Pozdnyshev and his wife. Pozdnyshev s attitude towards his
wife and the opposite gender is deleterious. His wife is his object of desire, Lacan s term for a
narcissistic want, persisting she only belongs to him. Because of Pozdnyshev s ideals about gender, his
jealousy gets the best of him when Troukhatchevsky, the violinist that accompanies his wife while
playing the piano to Beethoven s Kreutzer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She hires a music teacher named Troukhatchevsky where he would play the violin, and she would play
the piano to Beethoven s Kreutzer Sonata occupying her time. Pozdnyshev then starts to think and
believe that the both of them playing music together is an excellent excuse to cover passionate love.
His jealousy consumes his every thought throughout the novella, making it difficult for him to see
reality.
One day, he comes home and sees an overcoat that belongs to Troukhatchevsky hanging by the
doorway. Suddenly, a jealous rampage overcomes him after hearing laughter coming out from the
room. He takes down a dagger and starts treading towards the room. Once he enters the room,
Pozdnyshev raises the dagger and throws himself upon his wife, stabbing her near her heart. Once
Troukhatchevsky realizes what is happening, he quickly runs off before Pozdnyshev can touch him.
Overall, the novella was one of the most interesting stories I have read, and I enjoyed every page. The
narration that Tolstoy portrays works well with the situation and highlights Pozdnyshev s psychotic
rambling thoughts. Tolstoy creates the passengers on the train to portray his readers, as we are sitting
in place with them and hearing the outrageous story for the first time. By having that aspect, I felt that
I was the unnamed passenger hearing a story from a psychotic narrator. This not only helped me delve
into the story but understand the ending and why Tolstoy included the train scene. I could

decided to tally up all the Japanese within a hundred miles of the coast and put them into interment

felt it was amp;#8220;necessary ; to deport all the non citizens. This is what Joy writes about in her
novel.
The novel and the play are similar because they focus around one main minority group and their
problems. It would seem, in these stories, that when Canada is faced with a crisis, the government
takes command and sometimes encourages racism. All the racism in Canada is just like racism
throughout the world: people getting hurt for no other reason than they can help. These two stories
reflect how racism made lives of non whites suffer because of hate. This hate does not have to be
there, but sometimes people feel there is no choice but to hate.
Other similarities like the setting tells the history behind what Vancouver is today. Although
Vancouver amp;#8217;s past is filled with many discriminating stories, it now occupies many
nationalities and races. This shows how racism can be over come and that amp;#8217;s how it should

Computer Security Breaches On The Internet
Executive Summary
Internet has grown leap and bounds over the last few years. This has resulted in a number of computer
security breaches on the Internet. Most of the computers that use Internet are vulnerable to attack. Due
to this reason, Intrusion Detection systems have grown rapidly and there is an ongoing research since
it s a developing field. ID (Intrusion Detection) is a type of a security management system that gathers
and analyzes information to identify security breaches, which include both, attacks from outside the
organization and attacks from inside as well (misuse). ID includes analysis of abnormal activity,
tracking user policy violations, assessing systems and file integrity and vulnerability. It helps us
differentiate the normal behavior of system and helps us obtain any abnormal activity that is taking
place. This can be done easily using data mining and it helps increase its sustainability to attacks.
This project helps us understand the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and our aim is to implement it
using a common tool named (Waitkato Environment for Knowledge Analysis) WEKA that is written
in Java. This tool is very powerful and it will help us implement IDS by using techniques of data
analysis and predictive modeling. It supports various algorithms and tasks such as data preprocessing,
classification, regression, clustering, and many more. It is a very simple tool to understand and is an
open source.

Werner syndrome is an autosomal recessive genetic condition associated with the WRN gene (7). The
WRN gene found on chromosome 8 encodes a protein called Werner (4). The Werner protein works as

of the northern city states grew the Papacy increasingly became an international politician rather than
a spiritual leader. Nevertheless, Rome was the victim of a decline that had destroyed the ancient city
during the Middle Ages which had grown once again under papal leadership during the Renaissance.
Venice and Milan also grew wealthy and powerful which both had large roles in Italian politics.
Venice was ruled by oligarchy in the hands of Great Council of noble families, and Milan by a strong
monarchy that produced a line of powerful dukes.
The art works during the Middle Ages were quite breathtaking because the artists were able to capture
the period of Renaissance and incorporate it through their paintings. The arts reflected the deep
interest in religion but the artist would also focus on portraits of people, landscapes or scenes of
everyday life. The ending of fifteenth century there were three main artists Leonardo da Vinci,
Michelangelo Buonarroti and Raphael Sanzio who enlighten their paintings and sculptures with their
unique touch and own personality. Leonardo da Vinci (1452 1519) was known for the Renaissance
man because of his intellectual, talent and expression of humanist values. Leonardo was not just a
painter but an engineer, mathematician, inventor, architect, scientist,

The Truman Show Sequence 14 Search In the film The Truman Show directed by Peter Weir, in a

This information has been proven throughout the show as everywhere truman goes are messages that
warn travelers about the dangers of flying and that he has a fear of water but is on an island, but this
fact is proven most in the sequence in which truman tries to escape from the island but as he finds out
there are layers upon layers of feature installed to stop him from leaving. This sequence in which
truman is being hunted the people who are hunting him have fallen into a rhythmic march. This helps
to reinforce the image that these people are guards. This is done in the way that they are marching
which military personnel are trained to do. This marching also adds to the fact that they are no
different from one another as they are all partaking in this singular activity. Also there is music that
has been put in over this sequence, the type of music that gives the viewer the impression that a
military activity is occurring, this technique adds even further to the analogy that the pursuers are
guards but not just prison guards they are guards of a concentration

Figurative Language Paper
Figurative language is when you or someone is describing something by comparing it with something
else. Figurative language utilizes information of speech to be more persuasive, effective, and
impactful. There are several common figures of speech examples such as personification, metaphors,
and similes can enrich stories, subtly revealing information about characters and themes (Kirsner

Analysis Of The Coco Mademoiselle
Unspoken Words Through an Ad: Chanel, Coco Mademoiselle and Tommy Hilfiger, TH Bold
Wherever one looks barraged by an advertisement or marketing ads. Whether you are appreciating a
day of shopping or heading to work, promotions encompass you. It appears we never get a break from
this production. In addition, we see them so much we have developed resistance to their nearness.
There are numerous approaches to publicize an item, and ordinarily the similarities are self evident.
Analyzing commercials intently uncovers that paying little respect to the likenesses and contrasts in
notices, the primary motivation behind a promotion is to engage a specific group of onlookers.
Although both ads are selling fragrances, one is promoting a product for men and other is a promotion
for women. Chane is Coco Mademoiselle promotes sexyness and being sexually glamorous, while
Tommy s Hilfiger s Bold is advertising manliness and athleticism. The intention of each Ad is seen
through its color, model s persona, and through facial expressions.
In the Coco Mademoiselle ad, the colors are explicitly more feminine, as well as elegant
simultaneously; introducing colors of light pearl white on her elegant beady dress, whereas the
wallpaper is a taupe color. The color white is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and
virginity and it is seen as the color of perfectionism. The color taupe is seen as a color of productivity
while the majority of the focus on this ad is the white

prime example of this is with what happened with Jesse. At the beginning of the book, when Kate was

perfect match. Then Jesse asked if he was a close enough match. The doctor said no, his blood was

Comparison between Charlie Chaplin s The Kid and Rowan...

Class: IA04B (Interactive Art)

Subject: Art History
The most apparent similarity between these two films is that both films revolve around the daily lives
of the main characters.
The main characters, Charlie and Mr. bean, in The Kid and Mr. Bean The Ultimate Disaster Movie
respectively, both have child like qualities, and the tendency to be rather mischievous. Mr. Bean is
naive and self centered, sometimes to the extent of becoming somewhat mean. Despite his
considerable age, he still sleeps cuddled up with his teddy bear. Nothing is sacred to him, and he plays
his games with an earnest sheepishness. His childish directness and honesty, while offensive at times,

Bean himself, in a typically English environment, then later putting him in an international
environment. Being release in 1997 it is a light hearted satire of how the more conservative English
society reacts to and attempt to adapt to rapidly changing international standards and the shifts in
power.
The main difference of these two movies is that The Kid aims to bring some cheer to its audiences
hearts by showing how joy can still be found in the gloomiest conditions (as depicted in the daily lives
of Charlie and the child he has adopted) and also to reflect the state of the society while Mr. Bean The
Ultimate Disaster Movie seeks to bring some comic relief into the highly stressful lifestyle of the
modern day individual, by actually letting them laugh at a highly exaggerated, and therefore comic,
version of themselves .
As mentioned earlier, the era in which Charlie Chaplin s The Kid was made did not allow for colour or
sound to be incorporated into its production. Being disadvantaged in this area, the actors in the film
had to make up for it by emphasizing on facial expressions and body movements, in order to express
thoughts and emotions, and also to portray certain unique mannerisms and character traits of the
various characters in the story. Modern day audiences who are unaccustomed to this form of acting
might feel uncomfortable viewing films from the silent era, because the actors may seem to them, to

I Chose Roses And Birds Number 5 By Kiki Smith Essay
I chose Roses and Birds Number 5 by Kiki Smith as my western piece and for my non western piece I
chose a Spanish Colonial piece called Ornaments. I was originally drawn to Roses and Birds Number
5 because of the thin lines, the flowers, and how its fragility added an aura of femininity. Upon closer
inspection of the art, I appreciated the artist s use of Nepalese paper as her canvas. Unlike Kiki Smith
s piece, I wasn t immediately drawn to Ornaments. The metal, while shiny, looked cold and hard. The
piece is a floral arrangement, but looking at it I couldn t envision the soft petals of flowers. Once I put
aside my personal feelings and started observing the piece from the stand point of my Art
Appreciation class, I can see the effort and elements the artist must have used. That is why I chose it
as my contrast for this paper. In this paper, I will attempt to compare and contrast a western and non
western piece of art using the visual elements and the design principles I ve learned this semester. I
will also explain why I believe the western artist was influenced by non western art and give a brief
description of the artist and the culture that inspired them. Kiki Smith was born in Nuremberg,
Germany in 1954. Her father was an American artist who specialized in sculptor. Having a parent who
studied and practiced art would have no doubt given Kiki Smith the ability to expand her own artistic
pursuits from a young age. However, as she grew into adulthood, she

Most Asian nations that traditionally place a higher value on interpersonal relations see time and its

In the US, UK and much of northern Europe, strong, direct eye contact conveys confidence and

and is generally avoided. (Kwintessential, 2011)
In Europe and North America, business people will usually leave a certain amount of distance between

Mooney was beginning to have difficulties controlling his addiction at work, which was the other
most important part of his life. He began to feel fear over not being able to function at work, which
was where he derived his self confidence and self worth. He first sought treatment to gain
understanding, because he felt that if he could understand it, then he would be able to control it.
When this did not work, he went home and continued to drink and use drugs at an increasing rate.
Eventually people at work begin to notice that he smelled of alcohol while performing surgery. He
also began using his prescription pad to prescribe himself medication. His addiction eventually came
to the attention of the law and he was sent to prison. During this time he was forced to stay sober. He
spent one year in prison without drugs or alcohol. However, the day he got out, on his way home, he
stopped immediately at a liquor store. Dr. Mooney loved his family, his work gave him purpose, and
yet the addiction had taken control of his impulses, of his decision making process, of his time, his
emotions, and his body. Dr. Mooney spent almost two decades suffering from the addiction. His
addiction did not allow him to take a mistress. Over the course of two decades, he visited several

The Third-Leading Cause Of Teen Suicide In The United States
Each year, thousands of children and young adults are dying, not from cancer, heart disease, AIDS,
birth defects, strokes, pneumonia, influenza, chronic lung disease, or car accidents, but by their own
hands; they commit suicide. To start off, what is suicide? According to the dictionary, it is: a: the act or
an instance of taking one s own life voluntarily and intentionally, especially by a person of years of
discretion and of sound of mind or b: ruin of one s own interests (Merriam Webster.com). Suicide is
the third leading cause of death for ages fifteen to twenty four and the sixth leading cause of death for
ages five to fourteen ( Teen Suicide ). The number of teen suicides is instantaneously increasing each
year. It is skyrocketing out of control and no one seems to understand just how severe it is. Each year,
more than five thousand young people between the ages of fifteen and twenty four commit suicide,
and an additional 1.2 million young people attempt suicide each year ( Introducing to Teen Suicide: At

violent actions, running away, drug or alcohol use, gives verbal hints: I won t be a problem for long,

Human Rights During The War On Terror Essay
INTP 245 Research Essay
What role do Human Rights play in the war on terror? How has this affected the foreign policy of the
United States of America when combating this war?
When looking internationally over the past decade there has been an emergence of vague definable
terms that act as holistic guidelines for how international order should be constructed. One of these
terms is human rights which acts as a set of overarching guidelines that all States should aim for and
achieve. States have incorporated the ideals of human rights into their foreign policies in various ways
especially in the area of war and conflict. This essay will focus on what role human rights play in the
war on terror and how the human rights discourse has affected the United States of America s (USA)
foreign policy on the war on terror. This ultimately illustrates that the Western construct of human
rights is an invaluable policy tool as a mandate to interfere in other states affairs and USA have
continually utilised it as such a tool.
The concept of human rights has become ambiguous, with very little agreement regarding its meaning
and application internationally. The concept of human rights could be deemed as what Gallie termed
as an essentially contested concept. This argues that when it comes to certain concepts there is just
simply no one clearly definable general use that is widely agreed on. There are a variety of elements
and words that can be used to describe the concepts of human

The Four Phases Of San Diego
Wyatt Taylor
San Diego Fire Hazard
12/8/15
The four phases of San Diego s history starts the passive margin phase that took place from 400 to 200
million years ago. What is currently San Diego started as sediment produced above an oceanic rift.
This sediment became the underwater edge of the continental crust that would soon break off from
Pangaea to become the North American Continent.
The subduction phase of San Diego County s geologic past starts around 200 150 million years ago
near the end of the Jurassic period when North America Had began breaking off from Pangaea into its
own continent. The North American plate began moving west into the oceanic Faralon Plate, which

Large pools of Magma formed and cooled into Granitic rock and into what we now know as the
Peninsula Range batholiths. After this period, the angle of subduction between the faralon plate and
the North American Plate flattened and this greatly slowed the formation of any more mountains in
San Diego. At 90 million years ago, the mountains that were formed in San Diego country began to
erode and much of the sediment was deposited along the shoreline, extending it to the west. At 70
million years ago, the large coastal plain created by the eroded mountains sank into the ocean and
were eroded, the Cabrillo and point Loma formations were a result of this period. Erosion continues as
the subduction zone flattens and plays even less of a role and geologic activity is relatively calm until
the beginning of the extension phase. The extension phase begins around 28 million years go when the
Faralon plate is replaced by the Pacific plate and subduction stops. At 20 million years ago the pacific
plate begins pulling northwest, which results in stress and tensional force for the area soon to become
the Salton trough. As the North American Plate is pulled west and north, the San Andreas Fault begins
to form along with a rift valley. Some more small mountains in the Salton Trough were created as a
result of magma rising through cracks in the crust that had been thinned as a result of the tensional
stress. The transformational period begins at 10

Do Studies Of Neurological Disorders Support The Claim...
Do studies of neurological disorders support the claim that specific language functions are associated
with distinct neural structures?
Student ID: 12926466 Studying language in terms of its localization of function has proven to be a
challenging task. Unlike other cognitive processes such as perception, attention and memory, language
research faces the constraint of studying merely human beings. Even though other types of mammals

of the human language. Facing these limitation, early researches that have embarked on the task to

Summary Of Literary Modernism In The Waste Land
Literary modernism gained popularity in places like Europe and North America during the early 20th
century. Modernism was a rejection of old Victorian writing styles and a movement towards new and
experimental ideas. This denial of old ideals stemmed from the recently fought World War One. The
war, as well as the many atrocities that were witnessed during it, caused many people to reassess the
way they thought about the world and the direction it was heading. Modernist authors many of whom
fought in the war saw the world transforming before their eyes; they witnessed entire cities shift
towards modern day industrialization. Many authors saw this change as a movement away from the
common man and as a migration towards machines and equipment. This is evident in many prominent
modernist works of the time which were predominantly written in the first person to show these
changes and the effects they had on the average person. Authors tended to promote this self evaluation
and inquiry through symbolic narratives while using many different viewpoints. Specific
characteristics of a traditional modernist work include multiple viewpoints, secondary meanings or
allusions, and non traditional formatting. This break from tradition and the new form of writing style
has transformed modern literature as a whole and has produced some of the most well known writers
and poets of our generation.
T. S. Eliot s The Waste Land is a great example of a modernist work. Eliot implements

Parental Leave Benefits
Two of the parental leave policies that I find especially generous are offered by Netflix and Microsoft.
I feel that Netflix s offering of paid leave for new mothers or fathers for an entire year after the baby s
birth is especially generous because most companies only offer a few months of maternity leave and is
not necessarily paid, and many companies offer a couple weeks of paternity leave paid if any at all.
Microsoft was especially generous when they nearly doubled their paid leave to twenty weeks for
women who had just given birth. I find this generous because on average many women only get up to
12 weeks unpaid leave.
There is a question that workers will take parental leave benefits because workers may think that

good amount of parental leave and if she does not take it herself than those coworkers beneath her are
more likely not to take it.
I do agree that there is contradictory signaling going on to a certain extent because if workers of
Yahoo see their boss not taking the leave the company offers the other workers do not want to

should make decisions that will best benefit them and their family and not base it off someone else.

A Brief Analysis of Life of Brian Essay
Monty Python s Life of Brian is more than just a mere comedy; it is a Biblical, religious, and political

providing entertainment. Unfortunately not all of the elements in Life of Brian occurred in real life,
which takes away from the validity of the plot. While not everything is accurate, it seems that a
majority of the film could be considered genuine. In order to understand an analysis of the film, one

Not only does the constant humor aid to my interpretation, the reviews I found online also side with it.
While the story is an important aspect of the film, the supporting moments make it.
There are countless memorable moments in the movie that aid to the story. The story of the Romans is
brought to life with scenes such as: when slaves are carrying in an enormous Roman statue, Naughtius
Maximus and Biggus Dickus, the man set to be killed in the coliseum, everything the Romans have
brought to Judea, and so forth. The story of Jesus is illustrated with memorable scenes such as: the
sermon on the mount, the leper, Brian is the messiah, and finally crucifixion. On a similar note the
story of the Bible is depicted by the same scenes as the story of Jesus, in addition to the entire plot! To
my recollection not one scene is detrimental to any of the stories and furthermore most of the scenes
in the movie are purely based on the director s interpretation with a foundation of facts.
After doing some research I have found numerous truthful facts. For example: Pilate was real, leprosy

  • 4. Research On Educational Psychology Assignment Barbara Jones EDU 614 Dr. C 2 February 2015 Research in Educational Psychology Assignment Topic There are numerous motivational theories that have been discussed and tested. Different students unknowingly, or sometimes knowingly, utilize different theories since no two students are alike. Many teachers acknowledge that different students are motivated by different things, whether it be intrinsic extrinsic, self efficacy or interest. Not only can gender and age differences affect motivation, but the student s self efficacy and level of goal setting also affect the student s motivation. As a teacher, it has been noted that certain students are motivated to do certain tasks while others are not. In order to learn, students need to be motivated. One of the most difficult challenges of teaching is fighting the battle of motivating the students, which then leads to supporting them and helping them motivate themselves. Textbook Summary The textbook definition for motivation is the inner state that energizes, directs, and sustains behavior. (Ormrod, 2015, p. 186) It goes on to state that humans usually tend to work with a purpose. Motivation not only influences the activities that learners choose, but it also affects the degree to which they engage in those activities (Ormrod, 2015, p. 186). While teachers do play a big part in motivating students, motivation also has to come from within the students. In order for students to feel motivated, they must have certain primary ... • 7. Analysis Of The Plastic Pink Flamingo By Jennifer Price Scattered in lawns throughout the United States, the pink flamingo is an American icon. We all know, and probably don t love them. But how do people who are living outside of the United States or who are new to life in the United States view them? Jennifer Price has just the answer. In her essay The Plastic Pink Flamingo: A Natural History , Jennifer Price uses diction, cultural allusions, and organization to reveal her view of the American Population as superficial, materialistic, and trivial. Price begins her essay by explaining the flamingo s rapid appearance in United States culture and the connotations behind the bird while using diction and cultural allusions to characterize United States culture as trivial, superficial and materialistic. Price uses a low level of diction in paragraph one through words like pizzaz and playful . Her informal diction demonstrates her view that United States culture holds trivial things, like flamingo s, with too much importance. Price continues on to describe the superficial value of the bird. The plastic flamingo is inscribed...emphatically across United States lawns, its owners hoping to attach themselves to ideas of wealth. Those who place flamingo s in their lawn are looking to benefit from the wealthy face value of the bird, they do not wish to suffer any detriment from the less known irony surrounding the flamingos extinction. It is only right that this flamingo revolution would be centered in Las Vegas the flamboyant oasis filled with instant riches... Las Vegas is a city built on money and expensive material things, the same foundation the ever important flamingo is built on. Price continues building her portrayal of United States culture as superficial and materialistic with detailed descriptions of household items. By downsizing from large scale hotels described in her first two paragraphs to small scale household items in her third paragraph, Price exemplifies the materialistic ways of United States culture. Americans purchased washing machines, cars, and kitchen countertops in the various shades of pink. The desire of Americans to own the audacious color displays their need for material possessions. Price describes the shades of pink available, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Grounds Of The Arena Taxpayer can also bring a claim against the owner of the arena, the City of Milwaukee, for failing to maintain the arena in a reasonably safe condition for spectators. Generally, the owner of a sports venue must use reasonable care to protect spectators from the harm that exists due to the sports event. However, extent of protection depends on the venue and the inherent risks of the sport. For example, determining if a golf course is in a reasonably safe condition includes considering its design, protections for spectators, and the manner in which the coarse is operated. In baseball it is generally accepted that owners of stadiums owe a duty to protect spectators seating behind home plate and on the baseline from foul balls. Further, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, it is likely that the safe place statute would be applied to it. Additionally, spectators at the game, like those at a baseball game, will likely be found as frequenters. Thus, the City of Milwaukee probably owed a duty to keep the arena as reasonably safe as possible under Wisconsin s safe place statute. Under the safe place statute, Taxpayer can make several claims that the City of Milwaukee was negligent in maintaining the course. First, Taxpayer can assert that the City failed in their duty to warn spectators of the risks of an errant ball. However, the National Basketball Association ( NBA ), the largest professional basketball in the world, does not require arena owners to warn spectators of the risks for attending a basketball game, particularly those inherent with courtside seats. Unfortunately, courts have yet to address the issue of to what extent, if any, an owner of a basketball stadium has to warn spectators of potential risks. A determination of if a basketball arena s owner duty to warn will likely require the court to look at unique circumstance of a basketball game, using the duty to warn spectators in golf, baseball, and hockey as guidance but not binding precedent. Ultimately, it is likely that a court would find that no duty to warn spectators exist because the risks of setting courtside at a basketball game, literally feet from the intense action of the game, should be ... • 10. The Role Of Marriage In The Kreutzer Sonata By Leo Tolstoy The novella The Kreutzer Sonata, written by Leo Tolstoy, discusses the issues of gender inequality and socio economic status through jealousy and rage over the portrayed relationship of marriage. Tolstoy also explores the themes of how the female gender is portrayed through marriage in the novella during the 1880s through the main protagonist Pozdnyshev and his wife. Pozdnyshev s attitude towards his wife and the opposite gender is deleterious. His wife is his object of desire, Lacan s term for a narcissistic want, persisting she only belongs to him. Because of Pozdnyshev s ideals about gender, his jealousy gets the best of him when Troukhatchevsky, the violinist that accompanies his wife while playing the piano to Beethoven s Kreutzer ... She hires a music teacher named Troukhatchevsky where he would play the violin, and she would play the piano to Beethoven s Kreutzer Sonata occupying her time. Pozdnyshev then starts to think and believe that the both of them playing music together is an excellent excuse to cover passionate love. His jealousy consumes his every thought throughout the novella, making it difficult for him to see reality. One day, he comes home and sees an overcoat that belongs to Troukhatchevsky hanging by the doorway. Suddenly, a jealous rampage overcomes him after hearing laughter coming out from the room. He takes down a dagger and starts treading towards the room. Once he enters the room, Pozdnyshev raises the dagger and throws himself upon his wife, stabbing her near her heart. Once Troukhatchevsky realizes what is happening, he quickly runs off before Pozdnyshev can touch him. Overall, the novella was one of the most interesting stories I have read, and I enjoyed every page. The narration that Tolstoy portrays works well with the situation and highlights Pozdnyshev s psychotic rambling thoughts. Tolstoy creates the passengers on the train to portray his readers, as we are sitting in place with them and hearing the outrageous story for the first time. By having that aspect, I felt that I was the unnamed passenger hearing a story from a psychotic narrator. Although the military said that Canadian Japanese were not a threat to Canada, the government felt it was amp;#8220;necessary ; to deport all the non citizens. This is what Joy writes about in her novel. The novel and the play are similar because they focus around one main minority group and their problems. It would seem, in these stories, that when Canada is faced with a crisis, the government takes command and sometimes encourages racism. All the racism in Canada is just like racism throughout the world: people getting hurt for no other reason than they can help. These two stories reflect how racism made lives of non whites suffer because of hate. This hate does not have to be there, but sometimes people feel there is no choice but to hate. Other similarities like the setting tells the history behind what Vancouver is today. Although Vancouver amp;#8217;s past is filled with many discriminating stories, it now occupies many nationalities and races. This has resulted in a number of computer security breaches on the Internet. Most of the computers that use Internet are vulnerable to attack. Due to this reason, Intrusion Detection systems have grown rapidly and there is an ongoing research since it s a developing field. ID (Intrusion Detection) is a type of a security management system that gathers and analyzes information to identify security breaches, which include both, attacks from outside the organization and attacks from inside as well (misuse). It helps us differentiate the normal behavior of system and helps us obtain any abnormal activity that is taking place. This can be done easily using data mining and it helps increase its sustainability to attacks. This project helps us understand the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and our aim is to implement it using a common tool named (Waitkato Environment for Knowledge Analysis) WEKA that is written in Java. This tool is very powerful and it will help us implement IDS by using techniques of data analysis and predictive modeling. I Chose Roses And Birds Number 5 By Kiki Smith Essay I chose Roses and Birds Number 5 by Kiki Smith as my western piece and for my non western piece I chose a Spanish Colonial piece called Ornaments. Upon closer inspection of the art, I appreciated the artist s use of Nepalese paper as her canvas. Unlike Kiki Smith s piece, I wasn t immediately drawn to Ornaments. This ultimately illustrates that the Western construct of human rights is an invaluable policy tool as a mandate to interfere in other states affairs and USA have continually utilised it as such a tool. The concept of human rights has become ambiguous, with very little agreement regarding its meaning and application internationally. The concept of human rights could be deemed as what Gallie termed as an essentially contested concept. This argues that when it comes to certain concepts there is just simply no one clearly definable general use that is widely agreed on. There are a variety of elements and words that can be used to describe the concepts of human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Four Phases Of San Diego Wyatt Taylor San Diego Fire Hazard 12/8/15 The four phases of San Diego s history starts the passive margin phase that took place from 400 to 200 million years ago. What is currently San Diego started as sediment produced above an oceanic rift. This sediment became the underwater edge of the continental crust that would soon break off from Pangaea to become the North American Continent. The subduction phase of San Diego County s geologic past starts around 200 150 million years ago near the end of the Jurassic period when North America Had began breaking off from Pangaea into its own continent. The North American plate began moving west into the oceanic Faralon Plate, which was moving east. The Oceanic Faralon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Large pools of Magma formed and cooled into Granitic rock and into what we now know as the Peninsula Range batholiths. After this period, the angle of subduction between the faralon plate and the North American Plate flattened and this greatly slowed the formation of any more mountains in San Diego. At 90 million years ago, the mountains that were formed in San Diego country began to erode and much of the sediment was deposited along the shoreline, extending it to the west. At 70 million years ago, the large coastal plain created by the eroded mountains sank into the ocean and were eroded, the Cabrillo and point Loma formations were a result of this period. Erosion continues as the subduction zone flattens and plays even less of a role and geologic activity is relatively calm until the beginning of the extension phase. The extension phase begins around 28 million years go when the Faralon plate is replaced by the Pacific plate and subduction stops. At 20 million years ago the pacific plate begins pulling northwest, which results in stress and tensional force for the area soon to become the Salton trough. As the North American Plate is pulled west and north, the San Andreas Fault begins to form along with a rift valley. Some more small mountains in the Salton Trough were created as a result of magma rising through cracks in the crust that had been thinned as a result of the tensional stress. Do studies of neurological disorders support the claim that specific language functions are associated with distinct neural structures? Student ID: 12926466 Studying language in terms of its localization of function has proven to be a challenging task. Unlike other cognitive processes such as perception, attention and memory, language research faces the constraint of studying merely human beings. Even though other types of mammals and birds also develop some form of communication systems their complexity is not even close to that of the human language. Facing these limitation, early researches that have embarked on the task to clarify the neural mechanisms associated with language devised a study field called Neurolinguistics. ... Pierre Paul Broca was one of the earliest and most influential physicians and anatomists of his time, who in the 1860s conducted some of the first work on the effects of brain damage on behaviour (Harley, 2008). In 1861 Broca worked as a surgeon in Bicêtre general infirmary, where on 11th April, a 50 year old patient called Leborgne was transported from the main hospital of Bicêtre, suffering from diffuse gangrenous inflammation of the entire right inferior limb (Broca, 1861). Leborgne was admitted to the hospital at the age of twenty one being subject to epileptic attacks and exhibiting lack of ability to say anything else except the word tan . During his stay in Bicêtre it was determined that his language comprehension and intelligence were intact. On the day of Leborgne s death on 17 April 1861, Broca performed an autopsy on his entire body. In his report Broca discussed in great detail the state of his brain, where he discovered ... • 37. Summary Of Literary Modernism In The Waste Land Literary modernism gained popularity in places like Europe and North America during the early 20th century. Modernism was a rejection of old Victorian writing styles and a movement towards new and experimental ideas. This denial of old ideals stemmed from the recently fought World War One. The war, as well as the many atrocities that were witnessed during it, caused many people to reassess the way they thought about the world and the direction it was heading. Modernist authors many of whom fought in the war saw the world transforming before their eyes; they witnessed entire cities shift towards modern day industrialization. Many authors saw this change as a movement away from the common man and as a migration towards machines and equipment. This is evident in many prominent modernist works of the time which were predominantly written in the first person to show these changes and the effects they had on the average person. Authors tended to promote this self evaluation and inquiry through symbolic narratives while using many different viewpoints. Specific characteristics of a traditional modernist work include multiple viewpoints, secondary meanings or allusions, and non traditional formatting. This break from tradition and the new form of writing style has transformed modern literature as a whole and has produced some of the most well known writers and poets of our generation. T. S. Eliot s The Waste Land is a great example of a modernist work. Eliot implements ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Parental Leave Benefits Two of the parental leave policies that I find especially generous are offered by Netflix and Microsoft. I feel that Netflix s offering of paid leave for new mothers or fathers for an entire year after the baby s birth is especially generous because most companies only offer a few months of maternity leave and is not necessarily paid, and many companies offer a couple weeks of paternity leave paid if any at all. Microsoft was especially generous when they nearly doubled their paid leave to twenty weeks for women who had just given birth. I find this generous because on average many women only get up to 12 weeks unpaid leave. She mentions that she planned to work throughout the pregnancy and take limited time away like she did with her son. The contradictory statement happens against Yahoo, who lengthened their parental leave in 2013. This is said to be contradicting because she is a leader within the company who offers a good amount of parental leave and if she does not take it herself than those coworkers beneath her are more likely not to take it. I do agree that there is contradictory signaling going on to a certain extent because if workers of Yahoo see their boss not taking the leave the company offers the other workers do not want to disappoint so they will not use the leave either. On the other hand, everyone lives their own life and should make decisions that will best benefit them and their family and not base it off someone else. I do not believe that there is a significant difference in the statements because the first statement is read as take all the time you need, so when that person is ready to come back they should. With the other statement of we ll see you in 12 weeks , I read that as in 12 weeks your job will still be there even if you take the full 12 weeks. • 39. A Brief Analysis of Life of Brian Essay Monty Python s Life of Brian is more than just a mere comedy; it is a Biblical, religious, and political satire. Like all Python films, Life of Brian seems to educate the viewer while at the same time providing entertainment. Unfortunately not all of the elements in Life of Brian occurred in real life, which takes away from the validity of the plot. While not everything is accurate, it seems that a majority of the film could be considered genuine. In order to understand an analysis of the film, one must first have a basic sense of the plot. Summarizing a movie that is almost an hour and a half into one paragraph is a daunting task, but it can be done! The first scene opens with Brian receiving gifts from the Three Wise Men; ... Take the line Blessed are the Greek and plankton will inherit the Earth for example, not only is a hilarious pun, it also aids to the telling of Jesus s story. I believe Terry Jones used Jesus, the Bible, and the Romans purely because he could create a myriad of puns, parodies, double entendre, and so forth. Not only does the constant humor aid to my interpretation, the reviews I found online also side with it. While the story is an important aspect of the film, the supporting moments make it. There are countless memorable moments in the movie that aid to the story. The story of the Romans is brought to life with scenes such as: when slaves are carrying in an enormous Roman statue, Naughtius Maximus and Biggus Dickus, the man set to be killed in the coliseum, everything the Romans have brought to Judea, and so forth. The story of Jesus is illustrated with memorable scenes such as: the sermon on the mount, the leper, Brian is the messiah, and finally crucifixion. On a similar note the story of the Bible is depicted by the same scenes as the story of Jesus, in addition to the entire plot! To my recollection not one scene is detrimental to any of the stories and furthermore most of the scenes in the movie are purely based on the director s interpretation with a foundation of facts. After doing some research I have found numerous truthful facts. For example: Pilate was real, leprosy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
