The Internal And External Factors Of An Organization
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to analyze the culture, the internal, and the external factors in
an organization. Our job is to examine the entirety of the organization. That would include the
structural and environmental elements that effect the operation of the business. We will also take an in
depth look at the perspectives of employees, managers, owners, and clientele. The Organization Just
Chillin Snowball and Sweet Treat Shop is a locally owned mom and pop business. The owner Jeffery
Robertson and his wife, Corey, opened this business in November 2012. Since then, it has become a
staple of the Northshore area in Mandeville. Just Chillin has grown over the past four years, in both
popularity and in size, so much that they are now in the process of opening another location. Just
Chillin is an excellent company to observe and analyze the culture and the internal and external
factors that have made this company so successful over these past few years. Cultural Analysis What
is an organizational culture? Just Chillin Snowball and Sweet Treat Shop has a strong organizational
culture which has allowed the business to prosper in the community. A strong organizational culture is
one where the employees possess shared values, principles, traditions, and ways of doing things that
influence the way organizational members act and assist to distinguish the organization from other
organizations (Mary Coutler, Stephen P. Robbins, 51). Our observations have shown, that

Effect Teaching Method for Calculus
The majority of instructors believe that the best method for training scientists is the traditional lecture.
In 2011, the Mathematical Association of America surveyed over 700 calculus instructors on what
they believed was the most effective way to teach. Two thirds of those surveyed agree with the
statement: Calculus students learn best from lectures, provided they are clear and well prepared
(Bressoud 2011). There is a common notion in teaching that, because the instructor is the expert in the
room, it his/her job to take the lead role in guiding students through the material. Instructors with this
traditional view would argue that because students are novices, active engagement techniques where
students are teaching each other could only lead to an increase in confusion about the concepts.
In addition to serving as the expert, most instructors also believe that their role is to meet their
students expectations in the classroom. Students can be resistant, at least at first, to new instructional
techniques. If students want informative and well structured lectures, then the traditional lecture meets
students expectations by allowing them to passively sit, listen, and take notes. To summarize, even
though both students and instructors have considerable experience in teaching and learning, this does
not directly translate to them being experts in the assessment of various teaching practices.
Science education literature has dozens of studies that quantitatively

Individual Mandate In Healthcare
The individual mandate was established under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
(PPACA), and works together with other ACA provisions to create a platform for affordable insurance
for all (especially the poor and sick). The individual mandate requires most individuals to maintain
minimum essential coverage for themselves and their dependents. Minimum essential coverage is
listed in Section 5000A of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) along with its regulations. Comprehensive
coverage is considered to be the minimum essential coverage, which includes public coverage such as
Medicaid and Medicare, and private insurance such as individual insurance, employer sponsored
insurance, and non group insurance. Those individuals who do not comply

Kant s Moral Judgement Of Moral Luck
Michaela Brester
Elwonger
Intro to Philosophy
9 October 2015
Kant believed that good or bad luck should influence neither our moral judgment of a person and his
actions, nor his moral assessment of himself. Thomas Nagel Thomas Nagel, Professor of Philosophy
at New York University developed the current philosophical idea of Moral luck. Kant denied the
possibility of moral luck but Nagel created the idea of moral luck based on Kant s opposition. As
quoted above, Kant thought that luck should not be the basis of judgement. He would have said that
actions would be criticized if they turned out bad. However, by luck it can turn out well. Kant s view
appears incorrect but it answers the problem about moral responsibility to which we possess no
satisfactory solution . (Nagel 440) The problem of moral luck is unsettling to the philosophical world.
Throughout this reflection, the concepts of moral luck, the plausible responses to the problem and the
objections to the problem will be discussed. The principle of moral luck is substantial yet debatable,
therefore, there are many responses, of which I believe incoherence to be the most plausible one. First,
we discuss will. Nagel thinks that we make judgments on people when they have no control over their
situation or the factors affecting them. When we do accuse someone of something, we are judging
them. Even if someone is in a bad situation, Nagel wants us to recognize that it does not mean their
existence is bad .

Qualitative Sleep
One of the most important processes of our human body is the qualitative sleep. Many people do not
have enough time to sleep well or lose it because of the daily stress. Did you allow to forget your
normal sleeping pattern? Sometimes your mind just needs to remind it. You are not the first person
who suffers from insomnia.
If the normal rhythm of sleeping time is impaired, our body needs time to regain it. Also, we should be
more patient and create comfortable conditions for it: you can read a book, drink a cup of tea, listen to
calming music, change your sleeping place or position, and relax. Prepare your mind and body, by
repeating positive phrases:
I am sleepy.
I fall asleep easily.
I always sleep deeply.
I am relaxing my mind.
Tonight I will sleep better. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

As well, you can improve this part of the day, by relying on natural remedies. Now, you can prepare
two miraculous mixtures, and you can use sea salt and brown sugar or organic honey. It sounds
impossible, to use only these simple ingredients for a better sleep, isn t it? But these components can

Essay On Remedies To Recovery
Home Remedies To Recovery After cesarean Delivery Chances are, you will be stuck in the hospital
for three to four days. This is an optimal time to start promoting healing in your body. Here are some
basic tips: After the first 24 hours (your hospital will most likely keep you on a soft food diet until
then), do not be shy about eating plenty of fiber. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains, and legumes go
a long way in combating post operative constipation and gas pains. Take a high quality probiotic
(where to find), zinc (where to find), and magnesium supplements for the same reason. DRINK
CONSTANTLY. You could also do fresh lemon juice in water. You need to flush the anesthesia and
medications from your body. Keep moving! It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drink at least 8 cups of water per day. You can leave bottles and mason jars filled with water around
the house as a reminder to stay hydrated. You can also sip on homemade fruit and vegetable smoothies
made with water as the liquid base. They re a great source of fiber and water. Who doesn t love a
twofer? 3. Give yourself a massage. A mainstay in midwifery, massages have long been used to
prevent and reduce the appearance of c section scars. They increase circulation, bringing fresh blood
and nutrients to the suture site. They may also encourage skin regeneration and break up scar tissue.
Gently massage the suture site with or without oil for 5 10 minutes each day. If you opt for oil, tamanu
and rosehip seed oil are great choices. You can also add anti inflammatory and skin regenerating
essential oils, like chamomile, lavender, or frankincense to your massage oil. Just make sure to dilute
the essential oils properly. 10 12 drops of essential oils for every 2 tbsp (1 oz) of oil will do. You ll
want to wait 4 6 weeks before you massage the suture site, sooner if your provider okays it. 4. Turn up
the heat. Pain is an after effect of c section. There s no getting around it, but heat is one surefire way to
ease it. Heat will relax your muscles, increase blood flow to the area and, because your nerves are
relaying the feeling of warmth to your brain, will

What Is An Example Of Consumerism In Fight Club
In Fight Club, there are multitudes of examples of the culture industry and its effects on the masses.
As an audience, it can be seen from two different perspectives; the first is in terms of the Narrator and
the second is through Tyler Durden, a second personality of the narrator who suffers from mental
illness. The narrator lives an empty life and tries to find meaning or purpose through the IKEA
catalogue while decorating his home. In turn, Tyler is the exact opposite he doesn t answer to anybody,
he does what he wants, when he wants and doesn t let anything or anyone stop him. Evidently this is
the version of himself that the narrator wants to be, as he lives vicariously through Tyler, which he is
unaware is his own imagination for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an audience, throughout the film it is evident that there is a significant contrast between the
narrator and Tyler as they view many things differently. Just like the Fight Club and the IKEA
furniture, the narrator becomes obsessed with Tyler and the life he leads. When Tyler is first
introduced as a passenger on the airplane, the narrator is immediately drawn to him in a way that is
different than any other person he has met. He feels a connection with him that he has not felt before,
which is why he calls him when his apartment burns and he loses all of his important IKEA furniture.
Tyler tells him it s just stuff (Fight Club) and the things you own end up owning you (Fight Club),
which completely contradicts everything the narrator had previously believed about his home and the
furniture. Through Tyler, the narrator starts to lose his need for material objects when Tyler tells him
Fuck off with your sofa units and strine green stripe patterns, I say never be complete, I say stop being
perfect, I say let... let s evolve, let the chips fall where they may (Fight Club), instead he focuses on
the fighting and his friendship with Tyler since he has finally found something that fills the void in his
life and gives it meaning. Though it may seem abstract that Tyler would fit into this argument, it all
comes together at the end of the film when the audience finds

the define phase, the company did not collect and analyze customer opinions and preferences, despite
one of the deep purpose of the project being to improve customer satisfaction. As such there is little
evidence to prove whether the project goals were in line with user requirements or not. Besides, after
the team set up the project goals, an in frame/out of frame analysis was established to manage the
scope of the project from the information technical (IT) and branch operations perspective. This was
done to establish what was within direct control of the team and what was not. However, from a
business perspective, they did not have a clear and reachable plan for the project time period, and no

The Importance Of Being A Good Teacher
This essay contemplates my individual development, skill acquisition and exploration of teaching
approaches; throughout and beyond the International Teacher Training Organisation (ITTO) program.
The problems I encountered will be discussed; and their relation to establishing where my wealth of
primary teaching experience aligns with English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching approaches.
For example; efforts to reduce my teacher talk time compared to primary school education was
important, correcting pronunciation in an appropriate manner and correctly pacing both my speech
and activities were areas of development that were observed, reflected on personally and subsequently
acted upon.
What is a good teacher? Humans are social animals who need to feel connected with the teacher; to
enable an open and honest atmosphere to question misunderstandings and exchange knowledge. A
good teacher realises the importance of forming authentic relationships by expressing their true self
with their students. Hence, a good teacher demonstrates compassion, builds rapport and shows
empathy towards the challenges present within learning; by allowing students to see teachers as
fallible and therefore learners as well. A philosophy stated by Gertrude Moskowitz that, ...good
rapport (sympathetic relationships) with learners is the basis for effective EFL learning... 1 This
philosophy on being a good teacher is encapsulated in the following saying, also my firm belief, that I

Henry David Thoreau s Letter From The Birmingham Jail
In Henry David Thoreau s Resistance to Civil Government he wrote a letter which became an
academic lecture. This lecture was about his objection to paying the poll tax because of the
government s involvement in slavery and the Mexican war. For refusing to pay the poll tax, he had to
spend a night in jail. Martin Luther King wrote A Letter from the Birmingham Jail when he spent
eleven days there charged with demonstrating without a permit. He wrote his open letter in response to
criticism from clergy who criticized his protest methods. The two letters are the same because they are
both written in support of civil disobedience when it comes to bad actions by the state. Differences in
the letters concern their call to action, and the tone of urgency. Both Thoreau and King believed that
individuals should follow their conscience when they believe the state does unethical acts. Thoreau
protested the Mexican War and Slavery in the United States. King protested Jim Crow laws in the
south that were part of segregation and discrimination against blacks. Similarly, both men also spent ...

United States, U.s. V. Nixon
Not to be confused with Nixon v. United States, U.S. v. Nixon was a crucial case of the
Supreme Court during a time of political scandal. On the night of June 17th, 1972, five men
broke into the Democratic National Committee in an attempt to gain secrets that would help
Nixon win the re election. The men were found to be connected to Nixon himself. Upon being
caught, all hell broke loose for Nixon s presidency and there was no turning back. Upon further
investigation by Congress, Nixon was committing illegal acts other than that of burglary. It was
discovered that the tapes Nixon used to record his conversations in the Oval Office would be
beneficial in the sense that they contained all the proof needed to impeach the president. The
president argued that this damning information needed not be shared with the community and
was protected by his executive privileges. The entire situation became known as the Watergate
scandal and exploded in popularity with the help of the media. After it was all said and done, the
Supreme Court ruled that Nixon was being unconstitutional. This is undoubtedly true due to the
fact a president is supposed to help a country grow stronger, not tear it apart.
In November of 1968, Richard Nixon, a former vice president, gains the title of president

Building A Montessori Trade School Essay
I have been super interested in Africa since I was a young child. I used to watch the National
Geographic channel and documentaries more than cartoon network or the Disney channel starting at
around the age of six years old. I believe this greatly contributed to my fascination for the cradle of
civilization and indigenous societies. Hopefully one day I plan to build a Montessori trade school
somewhere in Africa teaching aquaponics, organic farming, coding, CAD and other specialized trades.
Therefore, I chose the ancient ruins of the Great Zimbabwe to learn more about the people and history
of South Africa.
The city s name comes from the Shona term dzimbabwe which means houses of stone. The Great
Zimbabwe Ruins are made of hand hewn granite and are located five hundred miles north of Victoria

size which is equivalent to one thousand eight hundred acres. It is the largest ancient structure south of

The Black Liberation Movement
Introduction
African American women faced racism and classism from white women in the feminist movement and
sexism by male African Americans in the Black Liberation Movement. As a result, double jeopardy
became a classic feminist term in the exploration of oppression, feminism and racism in the U.S.
during the 20th Century (Hooks, 2000). The myths held by some black women hindered their
participation in the movement. Minority women were disadvantaged in the labor market, in addition to
being exposed to women trafficking and race based violence against them because race may
sometimes go against gender hence the need for the society to ensure equality in all feminist and

who ignored the differences between their experiences based on race and class differences. The white
feminists showed an unwillingness to accept their racism based on the sentiment that they could not
oppress the black women since the white men also oppressed them. This implies that none of the two
movements was for the liberation of the African race especially the black women since they sprang
from the desire to uplift the whites. In response, a decision was made to form the Black Feminist
Movement to address the needs of the black women from which the concept of double jeopardy

history, having a similar background, these two men still differ a lot in their views, lifestyle and way
of prophesying.
Jeremiah was likely born between 650 and 645 B.C. not far from Jerusalem in a family of a priest and
was by being trained for holy service in the priesthood was prepared for his future role. Jeremiah s
contemporary Ezekiel also had the priestly background and was a functioning priest probably attached
to Jerusalem Temple staff, but his prophetic ministry developed in Babylon as he was exiled several
years before Jerusalem fall. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It contains a lot of historical and biographical material in addition to the prophet s own words, and
from all this, his personality is revealed. The Book makes a pessimistic impression, as Jeremiah is
persistent in challenging dishonesty and hypocrisy. When being called he is unsure of his ability to
speak in the name of God, but the Lord reassures him, giving the promise of support. Jeremiah starts
prophesying the future fall of Jerusalem and his role after it is to bring his word to the Jews in exile as
well, so here he develops a theology of repentance, exile and restoration. At the same time, Jeremiah
stays in the ruined city, encouraging the new ruler and the people, explaining what happened and
providing the directions for further actions. The final chapters mostly describe God s judgements for
other nations and the prediction of punishment for

Rocking Infant Poor And Unlucky Travelers By Jonathon Swift
Writing of devouring infant poor and unlucky travelers, Jonathon Swift satirically writes of the
tyranny of England. The 18th century began with a great struggle between Ireland and England. The
world power of England encroached on the rights of the Irish including monitoring their right to their
own parliament and regulating their trade clearly benefitting the English. England had left Ireland
starving and impoverished. Jonathon Swift, an author at the time, wrote several essays intending to
spite the English and call the Irish to action to fight this oppression. The Irish did not respond. Terry
Eagleton and Daniel Coleman s theories prove that in his attempt to move Ireland to action Swift in
actuality pacified their need to rebel again the encroaching English. His literature provided the
humanization to prevent violence, the information to prevent further action, and the vicarious
experiences that fulfilled the peasants for retribution. It will be my pleasure to discuss, as Derrida
would argue, that because Swift s essays can be centered on both sparking and abating an uprising the
structure of the essays have been destroyed and therewith their meaning. Eagleton said, If masses are
not thrown a few novels, they may react by throwing up a few barricades. (Eagleton 45) Eagleton is
speaking here about the start of studying English as a subject, but would not Swift s essays have the
same effect? Eagleton states that there is something humanizing and assuaging about

Like all teachers and counselors, you have to be wise about what you teach and say. Being a wise
person is like being a superhero. People will come to you for advice and knowledge. This word is the
most important because being wise is one of the best values anybody can learn. You need knowledge
and wisdom to guide you through life. The feeling of people coming to you for help and taking what
you have to say into consideration is the best feeling anyone can achieve. Not only are you smart, but
you also have great intelligence. Acquiring this and having a growth mindset, makes you explore and
see the world and mind in a whole different perspective. Being a holy man in the Lakota is a man who
speaks the truth. Gives good decisions and is a man everyone sought after for advice. Having great
knowledge for life and others was a great way to tell how a mind was like. Being a person of wisdom
was a person of honesty and strength through words. From knowing when and what to say, but also
from knowing what and when not to speak. Wisdom is the antidote for impatience. Lakota people
were strong and always seeked advice when was not sure. All in all, we can all be wise and smart, we

The Anatomy Of The Knee Injuries
Shianne Rey
Complete Tear of the ACL A torn ACL is one of the most serious and common knee injuries. Many
aspects play a role in the treatment and rehabilitation of this injury. This paper will discuss the
anatomy of the knee, describe a torn ACL, and the rehabilitation. The knee is a hinge joint which gives
the legs mobility. The muscles and ligaments of this joint allows flexion and extension of the leg.
Because the knee supports the majority of the body weight, it is at risk of overuse and traumatic
injuries (France). The knee is composed of 3 major bones; the femur, tibia, and the fibula. The femur
is the biggest bone in the human body, the inferior end flares out into two rounded landmarks called
femoral condyles. Their name comes from the side of the body they are on, which is where we get
Lateral Femoral Condyle and Media Femoral Condyle. Superiorly to these condlyes are the medial
and lateral femoral epicondyles. The bones inferior to the femur are the Tibia and Fibula. The superior
end of the Tibia flares out into slightly concave structures called the Tibial Plateaus. A crescent wedge
shape of cartilage sits in each plateau. These are the Medial Meniscus and the Lateral Meniscus. This
cartilage acts as a shock absorber and distributes forces. The menisci are bathed by the synovial fluid
of the knee (France). The meniscus is what separates the each side of the Tibia and Femur and the
transverse ligament connects each menisci. There is a circular bone on the

The Causes Of Propaganda During World War II
Propaganda is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a
political cause or point of view(Webster). It has always been used to encourage the support of a cause
especially during times of war. During World War II, the American government was hesitant to use
propaganda to encourage American support due to past experiences of propaganda during World War
I. According to Lincoln Riddle s article on War History Online, businesses and corporations had to
persuade the government to use propaganda in America. The government consented to the deed so
long as the ads being displayed by business and corporation were only giving information on the war
instead of withholding information from the public (Riddle). Regardless, some posters and ads were
overexaggerated for a war effort making them propaganda. The themes could be divided into six main
themes: The Nature of the Enemy, The Nature of the Allies, The Need to Work, The Need to Fight,
The Need to Sacrifice, and The Americans What we are fighting for (Campbell). These forms used as
propaganda ranged from posters, radio, and television. Posters that were created during World War II
helped to boost the home front s public moral and encourage soldiers to enlist in the war. Famous
poster to come out of poster propaganda include Rosie the Riveter, Loose Lips Sink Ships , the phrase
enforced Americans to think before they speak in fears of giving information to the enemy, and Uncle

Research Paper On Online Classes
Online classes have boomed lately, but are they really worth all the work, or should we stick to
traditional classrooms? More and more people, especially these days have been enrolling in online
classes, due to the new technology being released. Online classes have been at lower quality because
of 3 reasons: how easy it is to cheat on them, the amount of money being put into them is outrageous,
and how small amount of control the professors have. Others might say, I like online classes because
the class schedule is very flexible and I can work it into my schedule. While that is true, online classes
fail to give you is face to face communication. In Source B, the text states that, Online classes offer
flexibility for sure. But if students never step foot on campus, often times they will feel less invested
in their education. If students feel less invested, they will tend to lose their sense of perseverance, or
their will to accomplish something. If they actually went into classrooms, and set foot on the campus,
they might get more invested in the school spirit, and find other ways to make college more than just a

After allowing the two unknowns to incubate on the streak plate (Picture B), the next step was to gram

my slide underneath the microscope, it was evident that I had two microbes on my slide. One of the
microbes was gram positive with a coccus shape, while the other was gram negative with a small rode
looking shape to it (Picture A). The next step was to be able to separate them from each other using
selective media. For the gram positive unknown, I used a MSA plate, which prevented gram negative

I used a sample from that MSA streak plate to inoculate urea, glucose, and catalase. I also checked my
mannitol, galactose, and gelatin samples for my gram negative. Upon inspection, my unknown did
ferment mannitol (Picture F). So I moved onto my gelatin, which was next on my dichotomous key.
Gelatin was still present when I pulled it out of the refrigerator (Picture G). Looking at my
Dichotomous key, this told me my gram negative sample was Serratia marcescens. Galactose was not
fermented either. Using our data table about physical and metabolic characteristics of gram negative
bacteria, it helped confirm that all my tests supported Serratia marcescens as the correct gram negative
unknown. On the last day, I still needed to find my gram positive unknown. When I added H2O2 to
my catalase, nothing happened, there were no bubbles at all (Picture H). Using my dichotomous key,
that meant that my unknown was Enterococcus faecalis. Just to be sure, I looked at my table for
physical and metabolic characteristics for gram positive bacteria. Fermantation of glucose, and not
havinng a presence of urea, helped confirm a that my gram positive unknown was Enterococcus

Though the organizational structure of the Katipunan was constantly in flux, it is generally believed
that they formed small branches, governed by the sangguniang balangay, and these small branches
would form larger provincial councils, governed by the sangguniang bayan. The branches of the
government showed that officials have their own roles in governing the society. Accountability
emerges in these roles. All these would be overseen by the Supreme Council of the Katipunan

Kevin Rudd Apology To Australia s Indigenous People
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd s apology to Australia s Indigenous people is in its own essence addressed
in a spoken form but has been transcribed into a written text. The speech was delivered at the
Parliament of Australia, House of Representatives by Kevin Rudd with the intentions to make an
apology to Indigenous Australians in particular of the dreadful past of the Stolen Generations . It was
delivered to both a live audience as well as broadcast via the channel of television and radio to a wider
Australian audience, especially to the Aboriginal audience. He adopts an appropriate and respectful
tenor which in turns fosters a formal register to accommodate the solemnity of the topic. Accordingly,
it softens Rudd s relative social status to further give him creditability of his humble tone. Whilst the
topic relates to the catastrophe of the Stolen Generations the field of the transcript more broadly

Analysis Of In Praise Of Fast Food
All aspects of fast food have been criticized significantly, especially since the health food trend craze
came around. An argument by culinary Luddites that is often thrown around is that our ancestors never
had the access to these options and lived a much happier natural lifestyle. Rachel Laudan brought
these points to the forefront to be critiqued in her writing In Praise of Fast Food . Rachel Laudan
brings the argument that individuals have always participated in the consumption of convenience
based foods, the goal in growing and producing food has always been to alter produce to make it more
convenient as well as better tasting. Fast food is not as new of an invention as many believe it to be.
Modern mainstream media outlets have pushed the belief that processing food has been the worst
thing for the well being of the human body. Rachel Laudan makes some very solid points in the fast
food debate that should be noted.
It is commonly believed that fresh and natural is the correct dietary plan above all else. To start out,
Rachel Laudan brings up the concept that going back to the way of our ancestors may not be what
individuals need in the modern world. Rachel Laudan questions the idea that the people of the past
lived a much healthier lifestyle than the current population finds acceptable by giving the reader
mental imagery about how the people of the past truly were living and how undesirable that life was.
Consequently, Rachel Laudan backs up her beliefs by arguing about the benefits of the healthy natural
eating of the people of the past Natural was unreliable. Fresh milk soured; eggs went rotten.
Everywhere seasons of plenty were followed by seasons of hunger. Natural was also usually
indigestible. Grains, which supplied 50 to 90 percent of calories in most societies, have to be threshed
ground, and cooked to make them edible (Faigley 271). Rachel Laudan seems to be arguing that life
for the people of the past was not something to create a lifestyle around. In conclusion, the lifestyle of
the past was a difficult one based on uncertainty due to the dependency of the crops to thrive.
Next, Rachel Laudan argues the point that the processing of food is not a product of recent invention,
every society

Man s Search For Meaning And Cast Away Apathy Quotes
In Man s Search for Meaning and Cast Away, Victor and Chuck experienced apathy and gained
positive attitudes. When someone is apathetic, it means they have lack of any type of emotion. If
someone has a positive attitude, they believe there will be a good outcome and if someone has a
negative attitude, they would rather give up. In Man s Search for Meaning, Victor in the camp,
especially if they were sick, noticed that some of the campers lacked emotion and were became
defensive. Towards the end of Man s Search for Meaning, Victor and the rest of camp were suppose to
be evacuated by the end of the night and sent to Switzerland within forty eight hours. As Victor and
the rest of the camp were on their way to Switzerland, campers got sick. Once they arrived to the
camp, those campers among others started turning apathetic. Those apathetic campers lost their
purpose. The ones who lost purpose went through apathy. Apathy was particularly increased among
the feverish patients, so they did react at all unless they were shouted at. (Pg. 49.) The importance of
this is because the prisoners didn t care anymore, the only thing they cared about was getting beaten.
Before Chuck was stranded and lost on the island in Cast Away, he was all about his work at Fedex.
He would throw himself into working and be gone for long periods of time. Chuck couldn t see how
him being gone was affecting him, and his relationships with people, especially his fiance, Kelly.
While Chuck was gone for all those times, he developed a little apathy. After the plane crashed and

The Early Stages of Biodiesel
Biofuel is a fuel that contains energy from geologically recent carbon fixation, which is made by
living organisms. Carbon fixation, most commonly occurs in plants and microalgae. This fuel can be
converted into liquid, solid and gas form. Biofuel is consider healthy for the environment, clean
burning, meaning that the carbon dioxide released when burning it is balanced by the carbon dioxide
absorbed by the plants that are grown to produce it. Biofuel has many uses, one being for
transportation, this fuel is known as biodiesel. Biodiesel is made up of recycled cooking oil, soybean
oil, vegetable oils and other fats. Not all the oils and fats are used for fuel, there put through a
chemical process called trans esterification which splits the oils into two parts, alkyl esters and
glycerin. The esters are used for fuel but the glycerin is used for other things such as soaps and make
ups. Biodiesel can be easily used in any diesel engine without needing to do any modifications. It
typically produces sixty percent less carbon dioxide emission the petroleum making it a lot more
environmentally friendly, plus who doesn t enjoy the smell of french fries while driving down the

The Early Stages of Biodiesel Although biodiesel may seem relatively new, with less than a decade of
commercial scale production across the United States, the concept of biodiesel is shockingly old. The

  • 3. Effect Teaching Method for Calculus The majority of instructors believe that the best method for training scientists is the traditional lecture. In 2011, the Mathematical Association of America surveyed over 700 calculus instructors on what they believed was the most effective way to teach. Two thirds of those surveyed agree with the statement: Calculus students learn best from lectures, provided they are clear and well prepared (Bressoud 2011). There is a common notion in teaching that, because the instructor is the expert in the room, it his/her job to take the lead role in guiding students through the material. Instructors with this traditional view would argue that because students are novices, active engagement techniques where students are teaching each other could only lead to an increase in confusion about the concepts. In addition to serving as the expert, most instructors also believe that their role is to meet their students expectations in the classroom. Students can be resistant, at least at first, to new instructional techniques. If students want informative and well structured lectures, then the traditional lecture meets students expectations by allowing them to passively sit, listen, and take notes. To summarize, even though both students and instructors have considerable experience in teaching and learning, this does not directly translate to them being experts in the assessment of various teaching practices. Science education literature has dozens of studies that quantitatively ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Kant s Moral Judgement Of Moral Luck Michaela Brester Elwonger Intro to Philosophy 9 October 2015 Kant believed that good or bad luck should influence neither our moral judgment of a person and his actions, nor his moral assessment of himself. Thomas Nagel Thomas Nagel, Professor of Philosophy at New York University developed the current philosophical idea of Moral luck. Kant denied the possibility of moral luck but Nagel created the idea of moral luck based on Kant s opposition. As quoted above, Kant thought that luck should not be the basis of judgement. He would have said that actions would be criticized if they turned out bad. However, by luck it can turn out well. Kant s view appears incorrect but it answers the problem about moral responsibility to which we possess no satisfactory solution . (Nagel 440) The problem of moral luck is unsettling to the philosophical world. Throughout this reflection, the concepts of moral luck, the plausible responses to the problem and the objections to the problem will be discussed. The principle of moral luck is substantial yet debatable, therefore, there are many responses, of which I believe incoherence to be the most plausible one. First, we discuss will. Nagel thinks that we make judgments on people when they have no control over their situation or the factors affecting them. When we do accuse someone of something, we are judging them. Even if someone is in a bad situation, Nagel wants us to recognize that it does not mean their existence is bad . ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

England had left Ireland starving and impoverished. Jonathon Swift, an author at the time, wrote several essays intending to spite the English and call the Irish to action to fight this oppression. His literature provided the humanization to prevent violence, the information to prevent further action, and the vicarious experiences that fulfilled the peasants for retribution. • 25. The Anatomy Of The Knee Injuries Shianne Rey Complete Tear of the ACL A torn ACL is one of the most serious and common knee injuries. Many aspects play a role in the treatment and rehabilitation of this injury. This paper will discuss the anatomy of the knee, describe a torn ACL, and the rehabilitation. The knee is a hinge joint which gives the legs mobility. The muscles and ligaments of this joint allows flexion and extension of the leg. Because the knee supports the majority of the body weight, it is at risk of overuse and traumatic injuries (France). The knee is composed of 3 major bones; the femur, tibia, and the fibula. The femur is the biggest bone in the human body, the inferior end flares out into two rounded landmarks called femoral condyles. Their name comes from the side of the body they are on, which is where we get Lateral Femoral Condyle and Media Femoral Condyle. Superiorly to these condlyes are the medial and lateral femoral epicondyles. The bones inferior to the femur are the Tibia and Fibula. The superior end of the Tibia flares out into slightly concave structures called the Tibial Plateaus. A crescent wedge shape of cartilage sits in each plateau. These are the Medial Meniscus and the Lateral Meniscus. This cartilage acts as a shock absorber and distributes forces. The menisci are bathed by the synovial fluid of the knee (France). The meniscus is what separates the each side of the Tibia and Femur and the transverse ligament connects each menisci. There is a circular bone on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. The Causes Of Propaganda During World War II Propaganda is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a political cause or point of view(Webster). It has always been used to encourage the support of a cause especially during times of war. During World War II, the American government was hesitant to use propaganda to encourage American support due to past experiences of propaganda during World War I. According to Lincoln Riddle s article on War History Online, businesses and corporations had to persuade the government to use propaganda in America. The government consented to the deed so long as the ads being displayed by business and corporation were only giving information on the war instead of withholding information from the public (Riddle). Regardless, some posters and ads were overexaggerated for a war effort making them propaganda. The themes could be divided into six main themes: The Nature of the Enemy, The Nature of the Allies, The Need to Work, The Need to Fight, The Need to Sacrifice, and The Americans What we are fighting for (Campbell). These forms used as propaganda ranged from posters, radio, and television. Posters that were created during World War II helped to boost the home front s public moral and encourage soldiers to enlist in the war. More and more people, especially these days have been enrolling in online classes, due to the new technology being released. Online classes have been at lower quality because of 3 reasons: how easy it is to cheat on them, the amount of money being put into them is outrageous, and how small amount of control the professors have. • 35. Analysis Of In Praise Of Fast Food All aspects of fast food have been criticized significantly, especially since the health food trend craze came around. An argument by culinary Luddites that is often thrown around is that our ancestors never had the access to these options and lived a much happier natural lifestyle. Rachel Laudan brought these points to the forefront to be critiqued in her writing In Praise of Fast Food . Rachel Laudan brings the argument that individuals have always participated in the consumption of convenience based foods, the goal in growing and producing food has always been to alter produce to make it more convenient as well as better tasting. Fast food is not as new of an invention as many believe it to be. Modern mainstream media outlets have pushed the belief that processing food has been the worst thing for the well being of the human body. Rachel Laudan makes some very solid points in the fast food debate that should be noted. It is commonly believed that fresh and natural is the correct dietary plan above all else. To start out, Rachel Laudan brings up the concept that going back to the way of our ancestors may not be what individuals need in the modern world. Rachel Laudan questions the idea that the people of the past lived a much healthier lifestyle than the current population finds acceptable by giving the reader mental imagery about how the people of the past truly were living and how undesirable that life was. Consequently, Rachel Laudan backs up her beliefs by arguing about the benefits of the healthy natural eating of the people of the past Natural was unreliable. Fresh milk soured; eggs went rotten. Everywhere seasons of plenty were followed by seasons of hunger. Natural was also usually indigestible. Grains, which supplied 50 to 90 percent of calories in most societies, have to be threshed ground, and cooked to make them edible (Faigley 271). Rachel Laudan seems to be arguing that life for the people of the past was not something to create a lifestyle around. In conclusion, the lifestyle of the past was a difficult one based on uncertainty due to the dependency of the crops to thrive. Next, Rachel Laudan argues the point that the processing of food is not a product of recent invention, every society ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Apathy was particularly increased among the feverish patients, so they did react at all unless they were shouted at. (Pg. 49.) Moreover, the Catholic Church could not put a stop to their flock s identification that voting Labour was a basic issue of class. Catholic activists, up until 1914, were predominately in the form of the United Irish League.
