Health Care Consultants
In analyzing problem solving, thee skills and role of a consultant can take on a variety of factors such
as understanding the nature of the problems, purpose and desired outcomes of consultation, skills of
the consultant and skills of the consultee (Dougherty,2014). The skills used to analyze problems in an
organization, consultants will use a systemic approach which involves a variety of stages and levels of
phases to ensure proper analysis, intervention, and implementation of existing problems. Phase One:

Preventing Youth Crime
Outline and evaluate strategies used by criminal agencies to control youth crime.
An estimate number of 10 to 17 yr olds in UK in 1999 was 2704392 males and 2561681 females.
These young people represent of the general population and are also often the group who elicit the
most concern and discussion within local communities and the media. There is a big interest in the
consistent crimes in this age group, resulted in a lot of research being made.
Therefore this essay will be establishing research done by various criminal agencies that help to
prevent youth crime occurring and evaluating this research critically. Preventing youth crime before it

The Anxieties Of Modernity In Frankenstein And Dracula
In select gothic literature, anxieties of the times in which they were written tend to surface through
important themes, characters and settings. Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley in 1818 and Dracula
written by Bram Stoker in 1897 both share this characteristic by working through the anxieties of
modernity, here meaning the condition of being modern , specifically between new world science and
technology versus old world spirituality and faith. This manifests predominantly as the old traditional
values of Europe contrasting with the rapid and modern changes within England which provides a
point of contention between the two worlds. Therefore, within this essay I will argue that both
Frankenstein and Dracula were written to negotiate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the Monster is a creation of modern society and is created through the advances within
science and technology due to (in Shelley s mind) industrialisation. The Monster can be seen to yearn
for the Romantic European sensibilities, but being the personification of modernity means he is
rejected from them: I admired virtue and good feelings, and loved the gentle manners and amiable
qualities of my cottagers; but I was shut out from intercourse with them...which rather increased than
satisfied the desire I had of becoming one among my fellows.
Dracula, on the other hand, was written during the Victorian era which followed after the Georgian
era. It was a time of technological prosperity for England which featured introduction of the railway
system, improved communication devices, and advances in medicine. These manifested within the
novel in the form of predominant discussions of train travel, the appearance of phonographs and blood
transfusions. The anxieties of modernity in Dracula focus on much the same as in Frankenstein:
science and technology versus superstition and religious dogma, and old European sensibilities versus

the section under intentional tort law that protects a citizen from having their land trespassed on,
chattels stolen or obtained by people that should not have their items. It is also the act that protects
your rights as a Canadian citizen to privacy and protection of property. Types of Interference with
Property: There are four main sections under which intentional interference with property can be

SUMMARY ON THE CASE: The Board of Road Commissioners for Kent County (Board)
(defendant) had a license agreement to place a snow fence on land owned by Rogers (plaintiff)
husband. The Board set up the snow fence pursuant to the license agreement. Under the license
agreement, the fence, including the anchor posts, would be removed by the Board at the end of the
winter season. At the end of one winter season the Board removed the snow fence but did not remove
a steel anchor post that protruded six to eight inches above the ground. The grass in the area where the
post was located grew to a height that completely hid the post from one s view. On one particular day
in July, while Rogers husband was mowing an area where the snow fence had been located, the
mowing bar on her husband s tractor struck the steel post that was hidden from view. As a result of the
impact, Rogers husband was thrown from the seat of the tractor. Rogers husband died from the
accident. Rogers sued the Board for

Automation and Intelligence Have Changed Agriculture
Agricultural production has increased manifold due to the advent of automation and intelligence in
various stages of a crop s life cycle. Introduction of such processes has led to a significant increase in
the output and reduction in the costs incurred in manual labour and other farm equipment. A scheme
where machine vision is implemented can be used to perceive the position of a fruit for harvesting.
This technology has been used to develop both land and aerial based systems for fruit detection and
harvesting. Machine vision in harvesting is broadly based on visual cues and properties of fruit.
Machine vision based systems have an advantage as apart from recognition of colour, texture and
shape of any object, numerical points for the object are also defined.
The aim of fruit detection is characterized by the following desirable outcomes:
1. Detection of each distinct fruit.
2. Discrimination of the detected fruit from the other parts of the foliage.
3. Localisation of the fruit.
Since its implementation to crop harvesting and other agricultural practices, a lot of attention has been
given to development in machine vision systems to achieve the abovementioned outcomes. But, all of
it has been limited to the field of research with very little commercial outlook. Though, research
outcomes may look bleak, it is a well accepted fact that to achieve very good incidences of fruit
detection a robust machine vision system is essential. This in turn will develop into a robot

Olaudah Equiano s the Interesting Narrative of the Life of...
Olaudah Equiano s The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, the
African, Written by Himself, is the story of the eponymous real life character, Olaudah Equiano, his
life, trials, tribulations and journey from slavery at an early age to freedom. For Equiano, it seems that
slavery is almost a metaphysical phenomenon. His entire life is essentially characterized by the
different experiences relating slavery, from Africa to the Middle Passage to plantation life in the West
Indies and United States. Equiano s views on slavery are tough to articulate and truly complex.
Throughout the novel he makes reference to different degrees of slavery, at times condemning the
practice, and at other times contradicting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He details being shocked and hurt to the point where he tries to wash the color of his skin off his face.
While travelling the seas with Pascal, Equiano has many more encounters in and with Britain. With
more and more exposure to Christianity and European culture, he details that he was no longer
frightened and apprehensive towards it, beginning to show confluence of African and European
cultures. He was eventually sent to school in Britain, educated and shortly after, baptized. It is worth
noting that later in the novel he often relates his new religious standpoint to his enslavement. While
becoming a Christian himself, whether or not he holds responsible God, himself, or the hypocritical
Christian Europeans for his enslavement is left ambiguous.
Ultimately, (and after brief stints of being purchased by other masters) Equiano is sold to Robert King.
Educated and under the direction of a master treating him relatively fair, Equiano here observes
another facet of slavery. He is further educated and directed along the path of Christianity, which I
believe further adds more conflicting emotion, due to it being comparable to his original notion of
slavery from his childhood. While working for King on shipping routes, he determines himself to save
some money on the side, in order to buy his freedom from King. Interesting to note though, in the
novel he explicitly states that he would like to return to Old England, not Africa. While I think this is

How Education Has Changed Over The Years
Todays education has changed in many ways over the years. From the behavior of student s caused by
different parenting skills, how teachers teach their classes as well as student s ability to use
fundamentals, media and technology all play a role in how the world of education has evolved. Robin
Lawrence a thirteen year veteran teacher now a curriculum specialist at Bellaire Elementary has a
good insight into how the educational system has changed over time.
Past and present behavior have differed between the generations. Behavior in the past was much
better. In the past children did not have adult problems placed on them. Past parents had better control
to allow their children to be young. Past generations of parents did not have a lack of parenting skills.
Children were allowed to be carefree, unlike in the present day generations. Today s generations have
adult problems caused by poor or lack of parenting and therefore their behavior reflect this. The poor
behavior of today s generations has affected their education. The poor behavior of one student affects
the whole class. Mrs. Lawrence stated, Student behavior was much better when I attended school than
the behaviors I see in students present day. When asking Mrs. Lawrence why she felt that student s
behavior was better in the past than in the present she stated that Students have so many adult burdens
placed on then it is very difficult for them to be a child. Poor/ lack of parenting has been a major factor

Neuromuscular Junction Research Paper
The neuromuscular junction is where the nerve meets our muscles. To be able to move, we would
need an impulse sent from our brain to our muscles. The nerve impulse gets sent to our muscles from
the CNS, which leads to our muscles contracting. The nervous impulse that s sent to the CNS is called
the action potential, the impulse that sends a signal to our muscles is known as the motor neurones.
For our muscles to contract we need a nervous impulse, the end of our nerves are called the synaptic
knob, this hits the vesicles and releases acetylcholine. The acetylcholine then goes through the cleft
(the gap between the synaptic knob and the muscle) and tells the muscles to contract, if it doesn t go
through the cleft our muscles will not contract, this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nervous impulse will only reach the muscle fibres if the signal from the CNS is strong enough.
This also is the all or nothing principle because if the strength of the signal is not strong enough the
motor unit will contract, but if the strength of the signal is strong enough then all of the motor unit will
contract. The function of the motor unit is to basically allow movement, so without these muscle
fibres we won t be able to have movement. There are two type of muscle fibres, fast twitch and slow
twitch. The slow twitch muscle fibres are good for activities such as endurance events, e.g. the
marathon. This is because these muscles don t get tired during exercise. The fast twitch muscle fibres
get tired too quickly because they are used for quick, sharp events such as 100m sprint so this can
result in fatigue and therefore can build up lactic acid which will result in cramps
(http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/body/factfiles/fastandslowtwitch/soleus.shtml) so if we
didn t have slow or fast twitch fibres, we wouldn t be able to participate in them type of

They are the only government organized organization with the purpose of controlling drug traffic. The
Drug Enforcement Administration seems to be most known for their role in stopping drug
transportation across borders by use of DEA officers, police trained dogs, and other tools. To my
knowledge the DEA may have many other roles, possibly including the elimination of drug

During the late seventies and early 80 s, the Drug Enforcement Administration tightened drug controls
and expanded its programs.
The eighties saw the introduction of new technology into the DEA, such as CAT (real time vehicle
tracking system) and newly available cordless phones. Francis M. Mullen Junior was the acting
administrator from 1981 to 1985. In 1982, the Drug Enforcement Administration officially joined
forces with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Many drug investigations were successful
during this time period, including one bust resulting in the seizure of over 1600lbs of cocaine.
In 1984 and amendment to the Controlled Substances Act was passed. The amendment provided
additional authority for the denial or revocation of a practitioner controlled substance registration
based on a demonstration that such registration was contrary to the public interest as described by the
Drug Enforcement Administration history on www.dea.gov. In 1986, the DEA began one of its most
successful programs, the Drug Free Workplace program. By 1988, over 2,000 drug tests were
conducted (including 1,600 random tests) as part of the drug free workplace program. During the late
1980s and early 1990 s, Americans became more aware of drug use and trafficking, however abuse of
the drugs increased significantly. President George H.W. Bush focused national efforts on a plan to cut
both the supply and demand of illegal drugs.
Cocaine and crack were the number one

Causes Of Human Trafficking In Thailand
Human Trafficking in Thailand
Thailand is located in Southeast Asia, surrounded by numerous of bodies of water, such as the
Andaman Sea, and the Gulf of Thailand. According to the C.I.A website, which is a United States
government website that offers information about different countries and monitors their activities,
Thailand s government was a constitutional monarchy from 1932 to 2005. Thailand experienced
intense government turmoil due to a military coup and several large scale political street protests from
2008 to 2010 (C.I.A). As a result of the unrest among the citizens, it caused corruption from the
government, which meant that often times human trafficking is overlooked to not only promote the
increase of economy, but also increase the workforces in the country(C.I.A). Reported by The Global
Slavery Index, which is a global organization that conducts research and surveys in various countries,
it shows that, 425,500 people or 0.63% of the total population live in conditions of modern slavery in
Thailand. This creates different national issues such as a human rights violation and also social issues
such as communities being torn apart due to separation of families, but there are different solutions out
there that are easing the challenges of human trafficking. As a nation, Thailand s economy has been
gradually increasing; however, it still faces large national debt and high unemployment rate overall
(C.I.A). This leads to the government trying to find

In The Oyster Question, Christine Keiner utilizes environmental, agricultural, political, and social
history perspectives to investigate the Maryland oyster industry and its decline throughout history to
answer the question if the oyster industry should be privatized. She offers opposing viewpoints from
scientists, politicians and local community members. She has managed to connect scientific history
with environmental history with local history to bring together a comprehensive overview of the
problems both past and present of the Maryland oyster industry. I think that Christine keener does an

After this distress erupted Maryland instituted a new law that only residents could harvest oysters. So
the northerners moved south.
When the refrigerated rail cars came onto the scene, it changed the oyster game. Oysters could now be
enjoyed all over the country and Americans loved them, oysters went as far west as the Rocky
Mountains! The oyster business was booming. In 1870 one fifth of the men in the entire fishing
industry were Chesapeake Bay oystermen. There were twenty six thousand fishermen and processors
employed in the Chesapeake oyster industry. The bay then had around forty two thousand boats, just
for oystering. On average, they were harvesting fifteen million pounds of oysters a year. In 1885,
twenty nine million bushels were harvested. An increased demand led to increases in harvests. The
bay quickly began to deplete. From 1865 to 1959 there was a series of disputes that erupted among the
various groups of oystermen. Sometimes violent, these disputes caused the government to intervene
with a newly created Maryland Oyster Navy.
To help regulate the oyster industry a series of steps were taken in the 1880s: a general license system,
the oyster police, the Winslow oyster survey, and numerous road and canal expansion projects. The
1890s brought decline in the oyster industry, due to both demand and the depletion of the bay, though
by the mid 1900s it was fairly stable. This was helped in part by the Hanan oyster culture

In the biographical material that Podell and Anzovin have compiled they inform the reader that
Roosevelt was once a Sunday school teacher and saw the political platform as a bully pulpit (356).
They also express that Roosevelt s tendency in speaking and writing resembles that of a Protestant
preacher, as he stresses the importance of walking towards the paths of righteousness and virtue (356).
Many people did not like the manner to which Roosevelt would present his speeches because he
would be seen as being very loud in volume. While walking back and forth he can be seen waving his
speech around like a maniac man screeching his voice in tones that were unbearable to some listening.
Podell and Anzovin describes William Roscoe Thayer observations to the manner of which Roosevelt
dramatized his speeches; that some of the listeners were fascinated by his gestures, the way in which
his pent up thoughts seemed almost to strangle him before he could utter them, his smile showing the
white rows of teeth, his fist clenched to strike an invisible adversary (356). Theodore Roosevelt loved
the attention and enjoyed the art of oratory for he looked for many opportunities to speak in public,
especially on issues that he was passionate about. For Roosevelt, speechmaking was a means

agriculture from
http://www.ucsusa.org/food_and_agriculture/science_and_impacts/science/sustainable
agriculture.html (including all hyperlinks used).
Cover crops is the first method I will cover. Cover crops are essentially an alternative crop that get
planted between growing cycles. There can be a number of positive reasons for doing so. A cover crop
can hold the soil together ad reduce erosion. If ploughed into the soil or mowed and left as cut
material, this provides a more natural revitalisation of organic material and therefore nutrients to the
land. This is a more healthier alternative to manufactured strong fertiliser to replenish nutrients to the
soil for the next crop. Certain crops can also act as detergents to pets and diseases. Another use of
cover crops is to act as a cover crop and feed for livestock meeting dual needs.

Raising Capital Chapter Summary
In this chapter, Wheelan discusses the basics of what we, as citizens should do with our money in
order to produce more in the long run. He mentions quite a few steps explaining what you should do
in each, but since this assignment is about being descriptive and brief, I ll only talk about the ones that
really caught my eye; raising capital, speculation, and save, invest, repeat. Raising capital talks about
how in today s society credit allows us to spend money that we don t have (pg. 150). When raising
capital we re collecting and raising the revenue. Collecting from investors through loans, bonds and
debit. When talking about speculation in this chapter, the author uses buying a townhouse that is in the

that we pay more than we expect to get back so that we re insured that we are protected. Schemers will

One of the tasks performed by the Apollo 8 crew was to photograph the moon s surface, make visual
observations about the moon. Many photographs were taken during the orbit around the moon. These
photographs were used to update existing maps and charts. Many of the photographs are in black and
white. The reason for this is that the resolution and clarity of the black and white photos was better
than that of color photographs.
7. The Spacecraft:
Apollo 8 was very similar to Apollo 7. The main difference was that the forward pressure and ablative
hatches were replaced by a combined forward hatch. Also, there were couches added for the comfort
of the crew. There was no lunar module on Apollo 8; however, there was a test module was mounted
that was similar in mass to the lunar module. This was done to verify that the lunar module could be
stabilized for travel on future explorations.

Aspects Of Arctic Sovereignty
Environmental Aspects of Arctic Sovereignty 1. Introduction The Arctic has the world s largest unused
source of oil and it is getting international attention because of its extremely value resources
(Crawford, Hanson Runnalls, 2008). According to Digman (2011) the Arctic s commercial interest
mostly rely on drilling, mining and transportation development. However, Arctic s development not
only will lead to economical profits but also will bring international conflicts. Due to this, a
Sovereignty by the five Arctic s coastal countries such as Canada, Denmark, Norway, Russia and
United States is essential. Moreover, Arctic s climate change is happening right now due to human
induced factors (Isted, 2009) and Arctic s development will lead to environmental damage (Johnston,
2012). The effects of this combination will have significant global consequences and could end in an
environmental catastrophe (Crawford et al., 2008). The purpose of this report is to discuss the Arctic s
resources and developments as well as the environmental impacts of the Arctic s development and
climate change. In addition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Digman (2011) concludes that melting permafrost will release a large volume of carbon to the sea

regardless of this situation, economic activities are increasing due to global warming (Isted, 2009)
because some countries consider the Arctic s melting ice an development opportunity (Smith, 2010).
Therefore, Crawford et al. (2008) argue that changing climate is making Arctic sovereignty a more
pressing and consequential issue and strategies are needed for the Arctic s environmental

Difference Between Grand Theory And Grand Theories
A theory is a statement that rationalizes the relationship between variables, within a set of
assumptions. It is a proposed justification for the complexities of the world around us. So a notion that
provides an answer to the question why is a theory. It could be connections between different
phenomena, why something occurs or does not occur, with a set of logical arguments.
There are generally two main kinds of theories. Grand theory and Empirical theory. A grand theory is
one that is unbounded by temporal or special boundaries. It can be applied to any population at any
time and it would still be proven correct. They are abstract in nature. Theories of Economics are good
examples of a grand theory. The law of demand, for instance is true ... Show more content on

It may not be applied to all the contexts throughout the globe or may not be applicable in different
time periods, but it would have empirical details.
To understand what a theory is, I think it would be better to have a clear concept of what it is not.
Often theorists confuse the following aspects of a research to a theory. We can say that all of the
following aid a theorist in developing a theory, but they themselves cannot rather should not be
considered theories.
Many authors have clarified the dissimilarity between a theory and what is mistaken for a theory.
Bacharach (1989) stated that data, typologies and metaphors are not theories. Whereas, Sutton and
Staw (1995) mentioned that references, variables and constructs, diagrams and figures, and hypotheses
are not theories in themselves
i. Data: is empirical evidence that reflects what has been observed by the theorist. It basically supports
a theory but itself is not a theory. That is because it does not provide any justification behind such
trends in the data or any predictions about the future. For example if data indicates that women with
higher IQ have prosperous marriages, this in itself is not a theory because it is just showing a trend,
not any logic behind

Quantitative Research In The Military

President George W. Bush once said Leadership to me means duty, honor, country. It means character,
and it means listening from time to time (Bush, G.W., date unknown). The United States Military is a
force like no other and has been around since our colonial days in 1512 where militiamen would guard

September 29,1789. The US Military is sometimes frustratingly slow to grasp new and useful

Gross Domestic Product ( Gdp )
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is a description of a nation s production levels for a period of time, as
well as a measurement of economic viability. It is calculated by adding the consumption, investments,
governmental outlays, and net exports of a nation in either one year or a quarter. The different
components of GDP are at differing levels in each nation. China and Germany, for example, have
substantial net exports, and Singapore comparatively relies much more on government outlays to grow
its economy. Although the latter uses more governmental outlays than most nations, all nations to
some degree make attempts to alleviate economic downturns, as well as to maximize upward
movement. Though there must be concern for issues such as the notorious crowding out effect,
government activity is often the catalyst to dramatic changes in the economy. The previous example of
China as an exporter is true, however it must be noted that it too relies heavily on government
expenditures to create a stable economy that has the financial infrastructure to grow. As a matter of
fact, all the Economic Tiger nations had to use government planning to change their course from being
impoverished nations, to being financial hubs with much room for opportunity in the work force.
Japan alone, would not have become the first industrialized nation without its use of public loans and
active national bank. Since understanding a government s ability to spend is important for an
economy, it is critical to

Comparing Two Leaders By Charles Schneider
This paper explores two leaders, one with strong success, and the other with less success, and
evaluating the differences and similarities between the two leaders. Charles Schneider was the COO of
eCollege, which was purchased by Pearson, from 1999 2001. Schneider left eCollege on unfavorable
terms due to his competitive and confrontational leadership style, and he has chosen to not list
eCollege in his background on either his Builder Sourcing or Mygoflight biography pages (Denver
Business Journal, 2001; Builder Sourcing, n.d.; Mygoflight, n.d.). Juxtapose this with Erika Roegies.
Roegies became a Vice President at TomTom when she was 35, and is now at Pearson (Linkedin,

her directive was to create a combined Program Management Organization that had been three
separate groups up until that point. Roegies accomplished this, and has driven a culture of repeatable,
and reliable. This paper compares and contrasts how each leader rose to power in their roles, their
leader and follower relationships, each leaders use of referent power with their leaders, colleagues,
and subordinates, how each leader motivated and rewards employees, as well as their self destruct
tendencies. Both leaders rose to power early in their careers. Prior to becoming the President and COO

Introduction:
Executive Summary
The aim of this report is to help XYZ Micro Turbines better understand the opportunities and
challenges faced by leveraging an e Procurement marketplace to conduct business, whilst maintaining
a bespoke e business solution for their customers.
The internet and World Wide Web have changed how we conduct business for ever, the basics of
business remain the same, and a company with goods or services needs customers to purchase from
them. E business refers to a broader definition of E Commerce, not just the buying and selling of
goods and services, but also servicing customers, collaborating with business partners, and conducting
electronic transactions within the organization (Turban, et al., 2002). What makes e business different
is the scope and range of the business/customer relationship. There is no longer the need for a face to
face physical transaction to take place in order to procure goods or services. Through the use of
technology e business has revolutionised the way we think about and transact business. Understanding
the different type of business model available to organisations helps drive their strategy. In this
instance XYZ Micro Turbines wish to conduct business with its suppliers over and established e

Statistically, 30 70 percent of asthmatic patients do not adhere to the medication they are prescribed
(Bailey and Apter, 2015). Symptoms become worse and a patient s overall quality of life is also
hindered. Bailey and Apter (2015) explain that many patients do not adhere to their medication
because they are not educated on how to utilize the medication, costs of the medication are too high,
the presence of negative side effects, and even sociocultural factors, among various others.
Nonadherence also causes problems in healthcare economics as with more emergency visits due to
sudden asthma attacks, healthcare costs rocket making it harder for patients to pay and causing overall
economic problems. With the existence of these factors, adherence becomes extremely difficult for
adults and consequently their health is put at risk. Negative symptomology such as increased asthma

indicated that television viewing predicts disordered eating in preadolescent girls without yet

Negatives And Negatives Of Print
The future of print communication lies within the direction of where print media is currently heading,
digital. With that being said, print will never die; there will always be people who want to physically
hold a book, a magazine, or a newspaper. Although it is not presumptuous to assume that the amount
of print will decrease, it will however continue to live for decades to come. Print history will always
have a crucial aspect in the linear advancements of technology. There are many ways to look at what
print is used for in our everyday lives, for one, we read it on a regular basis whether it s a newspaper, a

The death of print in the newspaper industry is not worldwide, but there has been a rapid shift towards
digital content. This shift is mostly due to the changing consumer behaviour and the widely available
free online content.
Not only have the amount of physical copies of newspapers and magazines decreased, but the written
content has significantly changed too. Walter Benjamin claims that the role of the storyteller is
becoming obsolete, and the stories that are being told are of no relevance to the people of the twenty
first century. With more stories being written both, digitally and professionally, there is less of a need
for people to orally speak about past experiences. Modern story telling is no longer concerned with the
multiple experiences of storytellers, and thus loses the concrete human meaning. The need for
storytelling has decreased due to the amount of facts and information that are readily available on the
Internet. The stories that were once told to pass on knowledge have no relevance, since more
accurately stated facts and information are present in many online sources, which have been backed
with evidence. Thus, making the stories that were told previously not as accurate or reliable.
Just as mentioned above, it is true that with new technological advances there has been less of a need
for print. It is also true that without print, some of these innovations would not exist today and it is
clear that print is

The Productivity And Flexibility Of The Labor Market
The efficiency and flexibility of the labor market are critical for ensuring that workers are allocated to
their most effective. In Dubai hires skilled foreign workers mostly from South East Asia to fulfill its
needs. Labor markets must therefore have the flexibility to shift workers from one economic activity
to another. In today s globalized world, technology is increasingly essential for firms to compete and
prosper. The technological readiness measures the agility with which an economy adopts existing
technologies to enhance the productivity of its industries, with specific emphasis on its capacity to
fully leverage information and communication technologies. The size of the market affects
productivity since large markets allow firms to exploit economies of scale. Traditionally, the markets
available to firms have been constrained by national borders. In the era of globalization, international
markets have become a substitute for domestic markets, especially for small countries. There is no
doubt that sophisticated business practices are conducive to higher efficiency in the production of
goods and services. Business sophistication concerns two elements that are intricately linked.
Innovation can emerge from new technological and non technological knowledge. Non technological
innovations are closely related to the know how, skills, and working conditions that are embedded in

Distributed Lag Model For Money Supply And Price...
CHAPTER EIGHT DISTRIBUTED LAG MODEL FOR MONEY SUPPLY AND PRICE
RELATIONSHIP 8.1 Distributed Lag Model The economic variable Y is affected by not only the
value of X at the same time t but also by its lagged values plus some disturbance term i.e.X_t,X_(t
1),X_(t 2).....,X_(t k),ε_t.this can be written in the functional form as: 〖Y_t=f(X〗_t,X_(t 1),X_(t
2).....,X_(t k),ε_t) In linear form, Y_t=α+β_0 X_t+β_1 X_(t 1)+β_2 X_(t 2)+⋯+β_j X_(t k)+ε_t (8.1)
Where, β_0 is known as the short run multiplier, or impact multiplier because it gives the change in
the mean value of Y_t following a unit change of X_tin the same time period. If the change of X_t is
maintained at the same level thereafter, then, (β_0+β_1) gives the change in the mean value of Y_t in
the next period, (β_0 + β_1+β_2) in the following period, and so on. These partial sums are called
interim or intermediate multiplier. Finally, after k periods, that is =β, therefore ∑▒β_i is called the
long run multiplier or total multiplier, or distributed lag multiplier. If we define the standardized β_i^*
= β_i/(∑▒β_i ) then it gives the proportion of the long run, or total, impact felt by a certain period of
time. In order for the distributed lag model to make sense, the lag coefficients must tend to zero as
k. This is not to say that 2 is smaller than 1; it only means that the impact of X_(t k)on Y_t
must eventually become small as k gets large. The distributed lag plays

College Athletes Vs College Sports
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) men s basketball and football programs generate
billions of dollars through television rights, corporate sponsorships, and merchandise sales. The
largest of which is attributable to television rights. According to Green, CBS and Turner Sports paid
the NCAA $10.8 billion for the rights to televise the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament
from 2010 through 2024. This is just for the men s basketball championship tournament and does not
include television rights for other regular season basketball games. When the NCAA introduced the
College Football Playoff (CFP), ESPN paid $7.3 billion for a 12 year contract to air the CFP games. In

If a scholarship is considered payment, then college athletes would be substantially underpaid
compared to the money they generate and potential income they could earn at the professional level.
Questions can also be raised concerning the value of some degrees earned by college athletes.
Deutsche stated student athletes often receive a notoriously watered down education, cheapening the
true value of that scholarship . The average value of a full scholarship for a player is $23,204, while
the estimated annual market value for players in football and basketball is $137,357 and $289,031
respectively. Over a four year college career, a football player would lose approximately half million
dollars and a basketball player more than $1 million (At Risk). The Title IX argument is based upon
the premise that football and basketball players are student athletes. However, college football and
basketball programs have become a business in themselves and athletes are a part of the business and
should be seen as employees (At Risk). Wilbon carries the point even further and states, The players
have become employees of the universities and conferences as much as students employees with no
compensation, which not only violates common decency but perhaps even the law. The argument
concerning the ability to pay players fairly,

Geisha Ideology
The concept of geisha originated in Japan in the 1600s. The initial geisha culture was constructed as
female entertainers, who act as hostesses to serve, entertain and perform for male clients, usually by
traditional Japanese dance and instruments. According to Barkers (2006), our first class readings on
Questions of Culture and Ideology, the everyday lived character of culture is a whole way of life . This
is apparent in the Japanese culture, and the Japanese s ideologies of geishas are refined, well
mannered and respected professions (Akita, 2009). As Akita mentions in her study, Japanese girls and
women admire geisha for in addition to their multifaceted and excellent artistry their feminine
demeanor and sophistication .

exotic, and promiscuous to early European visitors . Today we can observe specific artefacts of pop
culture that depicts these connotations.
Western Hegemony and Globalisation
To further analyse how the geisha culture has been marketed, attaining globalisation with the sexual
ideology hegemonized, I will be conducting semiotic analysis on various forms of media, produced by
the West.

Advertisements play a key role in the diffusion of pop culture. This tie advertisement by Marja Kurki,
a Finland label potrays a geisha leaning across the table tugging on a male westerner s tie. I can denote
that the geisha is trying to seduce the westerner, and the setting of the advertisement, comprising of
Japanese furnitures such as the tatami further enhances the traditional Japan concept. The copywriting
on the advertisement, It might change your character is a connotation as to how with their product, one
can change even the submissive, conservative ideology of a geisha to be daring and

Essay On Blockchain
3 Background
This section aims to explain blockchain and related technologies that will be used to implement the
provenance solution.
3.1 Blockchain
A blockchain is a data structure that facilitates in the creation of a digital ledger of transactions. It
consists of data sets that are made of a chain of blocks which represent a transaction history. A block
comprises of multiple transactions and are validated cryptographically by the network. In addition,
each block contains a hash value of previous block, a timestamp, and a nonce, which is a random
number for verifying the hash. This design ensures that any change on the block will immediately
change the respective hash value. For a block to be added on the chain, the network through a ... Show

Finally, it s immutable nature, in which a block cannot be changed once added to the ledger ensures
auditability and integrity of the entire network.
3.2 Ethereum
Ethereum is an open generic blockchain platform developed by the Ethereum Foundation, a Swiss
nonprofit organization [11]. It supports permissionless transactions on both public and private
network, which means anybody is allowed to participate in the network. Ethereum works on the
premise that all participants have to reach a consensus over the order of all transactions that have
taken place and have access to all entries ever recorded. It uses tokens via smart contracts code written
in Solidity and ether as currency. To prevent double spending transactions, it enforces a proof of work
(PoW) by the miners. However, this normally has an effect on its performance [10].
3.3 Radio frequency identification (RFID)
This technology consists of three parts: a reader, antenna, and a tag. The readers has a microprocessor
that is connected to an external computer. A radio frequency antenna is connected to the reader and is
used to transmit wireless radio signals to the tag. This antenna also receives radio signals reflected by
a tag s antenna in response. The tag has an inbuilt antenna which receives radio signals from a reader,
a rectifier which converts the received signal to provide power to the tag and a

The Mind Is An Action
The Great Ideals
The exploration of the mind is an action. To explore and think of new ideas is another worldly concept
that can be achieve by anyone. Ideas of one s own is a creation that can be utilized throughout history.
In the present, scholars and professors utilize works from great thinkers whom put into perspective
different ways to view the world that one lives in. From allegories to theories of the body, all great
thinkers have a mind that is different, in which contributes to the world for further use and
exploration. In depth, philosopher Plato, thinker Francis Bacon, and psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud,
have all been put into perspective for new ways of developing and analyzing thought.

center of thought that attempts to counter the pleasures of the sensual life (Jacobus 866). Plato has
entered minds throughout nations, displaying a question of enlightenment based off one s senses and
how one s perceive them.
To add on, Plato s cave is seen in many forms of depictions. Individuals have given many definitions
to what his allegory is portraying. In short, it is man in a cave with no view of the outside light and is
set to have his life perceived by mere shadows. Morris explains, The shadows are what the prisoners
deem to be real, so they must stand for what we deem to be real (418). Plato classifys the cave s world
as the Lower World , meaning no act of wisdom is inside for all man knows is one place. Plato also
classify s the outside world as the Upper World as being the world of wisdom or enlightenment. As his
allegory precedes, the man finds his way out and sees the Upper World first hand. When viewing what
he does not know leads him to find that this is the truth and everyone in that cave should hear of it.
Morris explains, Because it is self verifying, there will be

Themes In The Picture Of Dorian Gray
The Picture of Dorian Gray is a novel by Oscar Wilde, first published in 1890. In this novel, the main
character, Dorian Gray, has his soul trapped in a portrait which ages and records every soul corrupting
sin. Two main themes can be defined in this novel: desire, which is a strong feeling of wanting to have
something, or wishing something to happen; and pleasure, a feeling of happy satisfaction and
enjoyment. Therefore, forbidden pleasures and dark desires lead Dorian Gray to be doomed. I m going
to first examine Dorian Gray s desires, then the theme of ruining lives, to end with living a life of
pleasure. In the beginning of the novel, Dorian Gray is a young man who has his life in front of him.
He shows the desire of youth and beauty, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To start with, we could say that Basil Hallward was the one who launched it all. Firstly, he was the one
to paint the picture and also the one to introduce Dorian Gray to Lord Henry. But we can also say that
Lord Henry, with his hedonism ideas, was the main influence in Dorian s actions. Having no idea
whatsoever of the world as it is, Dorian was ignorant and innocent about it. Then receiving ideas that
pleasure is the means to life, he accepted them as universal truth, without questioning them at all. And
as soon as he began to believe in such things, everything fell apart. Lord Henry finds confusing Dorian
a source of pleasure, and he does not care if Dorian is going down a path of destruction, by his
philosophy,if it is amusing, it is good. Dorian only valued Sybil as an aesthetic object. She was a
living work of art, and when she couldn t act anymore, she lost all of her value in the eyes of Dorian.
He then broke up his engagement. As a sign of what he was doing wrong, his painting showed the
mark of his break up with Sybil, which meant that it was also a pain to his soul, and it was the first
time that the painting altered its appearance. Without knowing it, Dorian was the cause to a great deal
of pain, enough for that girl to kill herself with

The typical Latin American Internet user is a 26 year old, middle class man who has used the Internet

1997 was 31 years old.
Recent studies have also indicated that the Internet is becoming more accessible to middle and lower

news, chat services, information about computers and information about art and culture.
After Yahoo, the most popular search sites are AltaVista, Cade, Radar UOL, StarMedia, Infoseek,
Lycos and Excite.
Most respondents log on from home (53 percent), followed by work (31 percent). Most people (54

Food Additives And Its Effects On The Modern World
People who live in the modern world can readily enjoy a variety of delicious foods such as
hamburgers, macaroni and cheese, and even sushi rolls. These meals, in many cases, do not require
people to spend much time to prepare them. Instead of time consuming preparation, people only have
to mix up all packed ingredients and then put them into a microwave. In respect of sushi roles, they
are usually sold after every cooking process is finished. In other words, all consumers have to do is
just open up the package. Because these prepared food products are processed in big factories, most
people who prefer to eat these dishes do not seem to know how to cook them from scratch. However,
during industrial manufacturing, ingredients that are usually not found in the house kitchen are used
frequently−food additives. Food additives are eatable chemicals which make food appetizing and keep
it fresh. The final goal to utilize these chemicals is to save production cost. For instance, strawberry
gummies people eat are usually flavored with food additives to mimic strawberrish smell, taste, and
color. Manufacturers paint gummies with red, orange, blue, and green dye because the cost of food
dyes is incredibly cheaper than the cost of real fruit to flavor the same amount of gummies.
Alternatively, orange juice is another typical example of food products with food additives. The
amount of juice squeezed from one orange is really small. It cannot fill even a small cup. Therefore,

Importance of Continuous Improvement in the Success of an...
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MEANS IN THE CONTEXT OF ORGANISATIONAL
SUCCESS
Continuous improvement in a management context signifies a boundless exertion to expose and
eradicate root causes of tribulations. Typically, it engrosses various incremental or diminutive step
developments rather than one overpowering improvement. From a Japanese perception continuous
improvement is the root for their business culture (Cane 1996). Continuous improvement is a
viewpoint, pervading the Japanese culture, which search for developing every aspects correlated to the
change procedure on a current basis. It engages everybody, management and labor, in finding and
eradicating waste in machinery, labor, and materials and making process.
The Japanese word for continuous improvement, kaizen, is frequently used exchangeable with the
word continuous improvement. From the Japanese character kai, signifies change, and the character
Zen, meaning good, taken exactly, it means improvement. Even if kaizen is a Japanese notion, various
U.S. firms taken it with significant achievement by uniting the finest of traditional Japanese practices
with the strengths of Western industry practice, in other terms, by merging the profit of teamwork with
the creativeness of the individual (Flint 2004). Some refer to its execution in the West as lean
manufacturing since then, when joint with the doctrine of just in time (JIT), kaizen or continuous
improvement shapes the groundwork for notion of lean manufacturing.

Travelling Grace Paley Analysis
One of Man s Most Powerful Weapon: Words. It has always been said that the tongue is man s most
powerful weapon but, perhaps it is the words that the tongue speaks or the power behind the words
spoken. Literature is a body of written works. Literature can be anything from a speech to the lyrics of
a song. Something new is always learned from literature even if it is minute. Depending on the
message being sent, words have the power to provoke, calm or even inspire. In Travelling by Grace
Paley, the author s mom and sister are on the bus going to Virginia. They were laws that allowed
segregation on buses during this era, the blacks sat in the back and the whites sat in front. At one point
in the story, the bus came to a stop and they were asked to move since they were in the black section
of the bus. In silent protest, My mother said no (Paley 335). Later on in the story, those characteristics
are passed on to the author herself. This is because the word NO provoked her to stand firm in her
beliefs , In a loud voice he addressed me: Lady, I wouldn t of touched that thing with a meat hook. I
thought, Oh this world would end in ice. I could do nothing but look straight into his eyes. I did not
look away from him. Then I held that boy a little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the end of the song they gain some amount of hope. We had really won after all. We had won! (Sikora
78). Another example is the Christmas Truce of 1914. Soldiers from Belgium Britain France and
Germany put down their rifles and sang Christmas carols together. This took place during World War
I. This shows the power of music and other forms of

The Causes Of Capitalism
Capitalism has established what many others were unable to before; it has created a single economic
system for the world (Johnston). This essay will illustrate the flaws in capitalism as viewed by Engels.
It will define historical materialism, and will analyze the fundamental and secondary discrepancies in
capitalism as mentioned by Engels. Lastly, the following paper will also demonstrate what Engels
believes is the outcome of capitalism. In Engel s excerpt on Theoretical , Engel begins by describing
historical materialism as a principle of production and exchange of products, which is the basis of
every social order (Engels 293). Historical materialism analyzes the material conditions of society,
how people produce and exchange items (Johnston). It is the way in which society is producing and
exchanging goods that creates social relations as well as hierarchy (Johnston). Furthermore, the mode
of production conditions social relations and one s consciousness. The way an individual perceives the
world ultimately arises from our social and economic structures (Johnston). Society is further divided
into social classes which is determined by what is produced, how it is produced, and how the product
is exchanged (Johnston). The fundamental contradiction in capitalism as laid out by Engels is social
production and individual appropriation. The fundamental contradiction is the idea that the capitalist
appropriates the products that the working class create. The modern

  • 4. The Anxieties Of Modernity In Frankenstein And Dracula In select gothic literature, anxieties of the times in which they were written tend to surface through important themes, characters and settings. Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley in 1818 and Dracula written by Bram Stoker in 1897 both share this characteristic by working through the anxieties of modernity, here meaning the condition of being modern , specifically between new world science and technology versus old world spirituality and faith. This manifests predominantly as the old traditional values of Europe contrasting with the rapid and modern changes within England which provides a point of contention between the two worlds. Therefore, within this essay I will argue that both Frankenstein and Dracula were written to negotiate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the Monster is a creation of modern society and is created through the advances within science and technology due to (in Shelley s mind) industrialisation. The Monster can be seen to yearn for the Romantic European sensibilities, but being the personification of modernity means he is rejected from them: I admired virtue and good feelings, and loved the gentle manners and amiable qualities of my cottagers; but I was shut out from intercourse with them...which rather increased than satisfied the desire I had of becoming one among my fellows. Dracula, on the other hand, was written during the Victorian era which followed after the Georgian era. It was a time of technological prosperity for England which featured introduction of the railway system, improved communication devices, and advances in medicine. These manifested within the novel in the form of predominant discussions of train travel, the appearance of phonographs and blood transfusions. The anxieties of modernity in Dracula focus on much the same as in Frankenstein: science and technology versus superstition and religious dogma, and old European sensibilities versus modern ... The Board set up the snow fence pursuant to the license agreement. Under the license agreement, the fence, including the anchor posts, would be removed by the Board at the end of the winter season. At the end of one winter season the Board removed the snow fence but did not remove a steel anchor post that protruded six to eight inches above the ground. The grass in the area where the post was located grew to a height that completely hid the post from one s view. • 7. Automation and Intelligence Have Changed Agriculture Agricultural production has increased manifold due to the advent of automation and intelligence in various stages of a crop s life cycle. Introduction of such processes has led to a significant increase in the output and reduction in the costs incurred in manual labour and other farm equipment. A scheme where machine vision is implemented can be used to perceive the position of a fruit for harvesting. This technology has been used to develop both land and aerial based systems for fruit detection and harvesting. Machine vision in harvesting is broadly based on visual cues and properties of fruit. Machine vision based systems have an advantage as apart from recognition of colour, texture and shape of any object, numerical points for the object are also defined. The aim of fruit detection is characterized by the following desirable outcomes: 1. Detection of each distinct fruit. 2. Discrimination of the detected fruit from the other parts of the foliage. 3. Localisation of the fruit. Since its implementation to crop harvesting and other agricultural practices, a lot of attention has been given to development in machine vision systems to achieve the abovementioned outcomes. But, all of it has been limited to the field of research with very little commercial outlook. Though, research outcomes may look bleak, it is a well accepted fact that to achieve very good incidences of fruit detection a robust machine vision system is essential. This in turn will develop into a robot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Olaudah Equiano s the Interesting Narrative of the Life of... Olaudah Equiano s The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, the African, Written by Himself, is the story of the eponymous real life character, Olaudah Equiano, his life, trials, tribulations and journey from slavery at an early age to freedom. For Equiano, it seems that slavery is almost a metaphysical phenomenon. His entire life is essentially characterized by the different experiences relating slavery, from Africa to the Middle Passage to plantation life in the West Indies and United States. Equiano s views on slavery are tough to articulate and truly complex. Throughout the novel he makes reference to different degrees of slavery, at times condemning the practice, and at other times contradicting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He details being shocked and hurt to the point where he tries to wash the color of his skin off his face. While travelling the seas with Pascal, Equiano has many more encounters in and with Britain. With more and more exposure to Christianity and European culture, he details that he was no longer frightened and apprehensive towards it, beginning to show confluence of African and European cultures. He was eventually sent to school in Britain, educated and shortly after, baptized. It is worth noting that later in the novel he often relates his new religious standpoint to his enslavement. While becoming a Christian himself, whether or not he holds responsible God, himself, or the hypocritical Christian Europeans for his enslavement is left ambiguous. Ultimately, (and after brief stints of being purchased by other masters) Equiano is sold to Robert King. Educated and under the direction of a master treating him relatively fair, Equiano here observes another facet of slavery. He is further educated and directed along the path of Christianity, which I believe further adds more conflicting emotion, due to it being comparable to his original notion of slavery from his childhood. While working for King on shipping routes, he determines himself to save some money on the side, in order to buy his freedom from King. Interesting to note though, in the novel he explicitly states that he would like to return to Old England, not Africa. While I think this is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. How Education Has Changed Over The Years Todays education has changed in many ways over the years. From the behavior of student s caused by different parenting skills, how teachers teach their classes as well as student s ability to use fundamentals, media and technology all play a role in how the world of education has evolved. Robin Lawrence a thirteen year veteran teacher now a curriculum specialist at Bellaire Elementary has a good insight into how the educational system has changed over time. Past and present behavior have differed between the generations. Behavior in the past was much better. In the past children did not have adult problems placed on them. Past parents had better control to allow their children to be young. Past generations of parents did not have a lack of parenting skills. Children were allowed to be carefree, unlike in the present day generations. Today s generations have adult problems caused by poor or lack of parenting and therefore their behavior reflect this. The poor behavior of today s generations has affected their education. The poor behavior of one student affects the whole class. Mrs. Lawrence stated, Student behavior was much better when I attended school than the behaviors I see in students present day. When asking Mrs. Lawrence why she felt that student s behavior was better in the past than in the present she stated that Students have so many adult burdens placed on then it is very difficult for them to be a child. Poor/ lack of parenting has been a major factor in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Neuromuscular Junction Research Paper The neuromuscular junction is where the nerve meets our muscles. To be able to move, we would need an impulse sent from our brain to our muscles. The nerve impulse gets sent to our muscles from the CNS, which leads to our muscles contracting. The nervous impulse that s sent to the CNS is called the action potential, the impulse that sends a signal to our muscles is known as the motor neurones. For our muscles to contract we need a nervous impulse, the end of our nerves are called the synaptic knob, this hits the vesicles and releases acetylcholine. The acetylcholine then goes through the cleft (the gap between the synaptic knob and the muscle) and tells the muscles to contract, if it doesn t go through the cleft our muscles will not contract, this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The nervous impulse will only reach the muscle fibres if the signal from the CNS is strong enough. This also is the all or nothing principle because if the strength of the signal is not strong enough the motor unit will contract, but if the strength of the signal is strong enough then all of the motor unit will contract. The function of the motor unit is to basically allow movement, so without these muscle fibres we won t be able to have movement. There are two type of muscle fibres, fast twitch and slow twitch. The slow twitch muscle fibres are good for activities such as endurance events, e.g. the marathon. This is because these muscles don t get tired during exercise. The fast twitch muscle fibres get tired too quickly because they are used for quick, sharp events such as 100m sprint so this can result in fatigue and therefore can build up lactic acid which will result in cramps (http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/body/factfiles/fastandslowtwitch/soleus.shtml) so if we didn t have slow or fast twitch fibres, we wouldn t be able to participate in them type of ... They are the only government organized organization with the purpose of controlling drug traffic. The Drug Enforcement Administration seems to be most known for their role in stopping drug transportation across borders by use of DEA officers, police trained dogs, and other tools. To my knowledge the DEA may have many other roles, possibly including the elimination of drug manufacturing throughout the world, tracking down and stopping major drug trafficking organizations within the United States border, US territories, and minor outlying islands. The eighties saw the introduction of new technology into the DEA, such as CAT (real time vehicle tracking system) and newly available cordless phones. Francis M. Mullen Junior was the acting administrator from 1981 to 1985. In 1982, the Drug Enforcement Administration officially joined forces with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Many drug investigations were successful during this time period, including one bust resulting in the seizure of over 1600lbs of cocaine. In 1984 and amendment to the Controlled Substances Act was passed. The amendment provided additional authority for the denial or revocation of a practitioner controlled substance registration based on a demonstration that such registration was contrary to the public interest as described by the Drug Enforcement Administration history on www.dea.gov. In 1986, the DEA began one of its most successful programs, the Drug Free Workplace program. By 1988, over 2,000 drug tests were conducted (including 1,600 random tests) as part of the drug free workplace program. During the late 1980s and early 1990 s, Americans became more aware of drug use and trafficking, however abuse of the drugs increased significantly. President George H.W. • 12. Causes Of Human Trafficking In Thailand Human Trafficking in Thailand Thailand is located in Southeast Asia, surrounded by numerous of bodies of water, such as the Andaman Sea, and the Gulf of Thailand. According to the C.I.A website, which is a United States government website that offers information about different countries and monitors their activities, Thailand s government was a constitutional monarchy from 1932 to 2005. Thailand experienced intense government turmoil due to a military coup and several large scale political street protests from 2008 to 2010 (C.I.A). As a result of the unrest among the citizens, it caused corruption from the government, which meant that often times human trafficking is overlooked to not only promote the increase of economy, but also increase the workforces in the country(C.I.A). Reported by The Global Slavery Index, which is a global organization that conducts research and surveys in various countries, it shows that, 425,500 people or 0.63% of the total population live in conditions of modern slavery in Thailand. This creates different national issues such as a human rights violation and also social issues such as communities being torn apart due to separation of families, but there are different solutions out there that are easing the challenges of human trafficking. As a nation, Thailand s economy has been gradually increasing; however, it still faces large national debt and high unemployment rate overall (C.I.A). This leads to the government trying to find ... When the refrigerated rail cars came onto the scene, it changed the oyster game. Oysters could now be enjoyed all over the country and Americans loved them, oysters went as far west as the Rocky Mountains! The oyster business was booming. In 1870 one fifth of the men in the entire fishing industry were Chesapeake Bay oystermen. There were twenty six thousand fishermen and processors employed in the Chesapeake oyster industry. The bay then had around forty two thousand boats, just for oystering. On average, they were harvesting fifteen million pounds of oysters a year. In 1885, twenty nine million bushels were harvested. An increased demand led to increases in harvests. The bay quickly began to deplete. From 1865 to 1959 there was a series of disputes that erupted among the various groups of oystermen. Sometimes violent, these disputes caused the government to intervene with a newly created Maryland Oyster Navy. To help regulate the oyster industry a series of steps were taken in the 1880s: a general license system, the oyster police, the Winslow oyster survey, and numerous road and canal expansion projects. The 1890s brought decline in the oyster industry, due to both demand and the depletion of the bay, though by the mid 1900s it was fairly stable. Many people did not like the manner to which Roosevelt would present his speeches because he would be seen as being very loud in volume. While walking back and forth he can be seen waving his speech around like a maniac man screeching his voice in tones that were unbearable to some listening. Podell and Anzovin describes William Roscoe Thayer observations to the manner of which Roosevelt dramatized his speeches; that some of the listeners were fascinated by his gestures, the way in which his pent up thoughts seemed almost to strangle him before he could utter them, his smile showing the white rows of teeth, his fist clenched to strike an invisible adversary (356). It is calculated by adding the consumption, investments, governmental outlays, and net exports of a nation in either one year or a quarter. The different components of GDP are at differing levels in each nation. • 35. Negatives And Negatives Of Print The future of print communication lies within the direction of where print media is currently heading, digital. With that being said, print will never die; there will always be people who want to physically hold a book, a magazine, or a newspaper. Although it is not presumptuous to assume that the amount of print will decrease, it will however continue to live for decades to come. Print history will always have a crucial aspect in the linear advancements of technology. The death of print in the newspaper industry is not worldwide, but there has been a rapid shift towards digital content. This shift is mostly due to the changing consumer behaviour and the widely available free online content. Not only have the amount of physical copies of newspapers and magazines decreased, but the written content has significantly changed too. Walter Benjamin claims that the role of the storyteller is becoming obsolete, and the stories that are being told are of no relevance to the people of the twenty first century. With more stories being written both, digitally and professionally, there is less of a need for people to orally speak about past experiences. Modern story telling is no longer concerned with the multiple experiences of storytellers, and thus loses the concrete human meaning. The need for storytelling has decreased due to the amount of facts and information that are readily available on the Internet. The stories that were once told to pass on knowledge have no relevance, since more accurately stated facts and information are present in many online sources, which have been backed with evidence. Thus, making the stories that were told previously not as accurate or reliable. Just as mentioned above, it is true that with new technological advances there has been less of a need for print. It is also true that without print, some of these innovations would not exist today and it is clear that print is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CHAPTER EIGHT DISTRIBUTED LAG MODEL FOR MONEY SUPPLY AND PRICE RELATIONSHIP 8.1 Distributed Lag Model The economic variable Y is affected by not only the value of X at the same time t but also by its lagged values plus some disturbance term i.e.X_t,X_(t 1),X_(t 2).....,X_(t k),ε_t.this can be written in the functional form as: 〖Y_t=f(X〗_t,X_(t 1),X_(t 2).....,X_(t k),ε_t) In linear form, Y_t=α+β_0 X_t+β_1 X_(t 1)+β_2 X_(t 2)+⋯+β_j X_(t k)+ε_t (8.1) Where, β_0 is known as the short run multiplier, or impact multiplier because it gives the change in the mean value of Y_t following a unit change of X_tin the same time period. If the change of X_t is maintained at the same level thereafter, then, (β_0+β_1) gives the change in the mean value of Y_t in the next period, (β_0 + β_1+β_2) in the following period, and so on. These partial sums are called interim or intermediate multiplier. Finally, after k periods, that is =β, therefore ∑▒β_i is called the long run multiplier or total multiplier, or distributed lag multiplier. If we define the standardized β_i^* = β_i/(∑▒β_i ) then it gives the proportion of the long run, or total, impact felt by a certain period of time. In order for the distributed lag model to make sense, the lag coefficients must tend to zero as k. This is not to say that 2 is smaller than 1; it only means that the impact of X_(t k)on Y_t must eventually become small as k gets large. The distributed lag plays ... This essay will illustrate the flaws in capitalism as viewed by Engels. It will define historical materialism, and will analyze the fundamental and secondary discrepancies in capitalism as mentioned by Engels. Lastly, the following paper will also demonstrate what Engels believes is the outcome of capitalism. In Engel s excerpt on Theoretical , Engel begins by describing historical materialism as a principle of production and exchange of products, which is the basis of every social order (Engels 293). Historical materialism analyzes the material conditions of society, how people produce and exchange items (Johnston). It is the way in which society is producing and exchanging goods that creates social relations as well as hierarchy (Johnston). Furthermore, the mode of production conditions social relations and one s consciousness. The way an individual perceives the world ultimately arises from our social and economic structures (Johnston). Society is further divided into social classes which is determined by what is produced, how it is produced, and how the product is exchanged (Johnston). The fundamental contradiction in capitalism as laid out by Engels is social production and individual appropriation. The fundamental contradiction is the idea that the capitalist appropriates the products that the working class create. The modern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
