Sufi Teachers and Redefining the Traditional...
Sufi Teachers and Redefining the Traditional Student Teacher Relationship
What does it mean and more important, what should it mean to be educated? (58) A response to Spayd
s begs another question. Is education the objective itself or the means to the objective? For some
people education is just a degree, a piece of paper framed on the wall. One can say, a person with a
diploma has received an education, but it is not certain that the person is educated.
This paper relates to those individuals who use education as a means to reach their objective. For
them, education is not a straight line with a definitive start and finish. It is a journey full of crossroads
and choices, which require direction from a guide. For a student, the ... Show more content on

The Sufi Order is most prevalent in the Middle East in general but specially in Iran, Iraq, Turkey and
India. Sufism is a mystical religion based on fundamentals of Islam promoting the most simple and
direct connection between human beings and God. An accomplished member of the Order who has
completed his training is called a Dervish. The Dervish traveled across villages, towns and sometimes
countries, (usually by foot) spreading the teachings of Sufism. Even today, it is not uncommon to
encounter a traveling Dervish when one visits the countries in the middle east. They spread the
message of love and mercy, helping the needy and poor people. The Dervish have no earthly
possessions other than the clothes on their back. Their lifestyle is dominated by teaching through story
telling, singing, fortune telling (using astrological calendars) and healing the sick with herbs and
extracts. It is important to realize that there are many sects within Sufism, which reflect its evolution
similar to other religions or ways of life. A qualified description of Dervish is provided by Kabir
Helminski an author and translator of three books of Sufi poetry and a recognized leader in the Sufi
Order.
A dervish is an apprentice, one who is learning the profession that will provide eternal livelihood. This

Killing over 100 African American men and harming an entire community, not other study in human
medicine would have more severe and lasting consequences as The Tuskegee Syphilis Study.
Spanning 40 years, it is the longest human experiment in the history of medicine. This study pushed
the boundary of medical ethics: exposing a vulnerable community to extensive harm, pushing the
limits of one s trust in medical professionals, enticing recruits through use of social benefits, and
stretching the capabilities of study deception. This study would live on to shape public perception of
medical bioethics, and create a lasting barrier between African Americans and medical equality. The

Anybody who has ever received a vaccination, received genetic history information, or has taken just
about any medication stronger than Advil has benefitted from her great sacrifice. Henrietta Lacks was
a poor black sharecropper who died of invasive cervical cancer in 1951 (Skloot 2010). Her cells would
live on to create an immortal cell line, becoming the single most influential medical discovery in the
last 100 years (Skloot 2010). Similarly to the Tuskegee men, Henrietta could only receive treatment
from an all black hospital, setting up the perfect environment to conduct human research. John
Hopkins often used patients without their consent for research as a form of payment (Skloot 2010).
Doctors at Hopkins stated that the role of blacks in medicine is to make sacrifices to further and
preserve the dominant white race (Skloot 2010). The cells that doctors took from Henrietta s body and
preserved in a lab, would live on to become one of the most powerful tools in medicine creating their

Treating Pain In Patients With A History Of Substance...
Building Trust with the Audience When it comes to creating a solid argument on something highly
controversial it has to appear professional, well written, and informed. The article Treating Pain In
Patients With a History Of Substance Addiction: Case Studies And Review by Megan and Andrew
Harding does just this despite a few minor flaws. Without reading the article the audience can deduce
a clear sense of seriousness and professionalism. Now some may question how on earth can this be
deduced without reading it. But it s because of the simple consistent format. Each section has a bolded
subtitle that bluntly says what this section is about. Beneath this subtitle is a horizontal line and then
the section begins. The title at the top of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though the patients and parents are not the target audience and compromising to this demographic
may lose some of the intended audience. So in the end the Hardings probably made the right choice.
They also chose to write the article in a passive voice so words such as I, you, or we but rather he, she,
or their were not included. Which is true to how nurses have to document helping build the trust of the
intended audience. The sentences are fairly long with about 20 words per sentence. Using the Flesch
Kincaid Reading Age equation I can deduce the reading level is a collegian level. This is appropriate
because again this is intended for nurses who have to complete at least an associate s degree. Looking
at the reading level I m surprised I was able to read it fairly painlessly though every once and while it
was difficult due to passive voice. The article isn t completely made of their own information. It was
well researched using various references. The article very rarely directly quotes its sources it normally
paraphrases the information then adds a superscript with the number corresponding to the citation. The
article didn t use APA or MLA formatting instead it uses CMS which is odd for a nursing article. CMS
is normally used in history and fields of humanities so it sort of makes sense though nursing normally
falls under science leaning more articles to be APA. The journal this article was published in

Government Intervention in Agriculture Industry in...
Nowadays in Indonesia, Fruits and vegetables have become rare items due to slow distribution and
poor transportation (TheJakartaPost, 2010). This will cause price of fruits and vegetables to increase
due to shortage of supply. Not only that, inequality in distribution of income by farmers has take place
due to lack of capital acess (TheJakartaPost, 2010). The market economy requires institution such as
government to implement policies and making decisions to maintain market and avoid market failures
like monopoly and negative externalities. Government intervention such as decision to guarantee
continuous supplies of horticultural products will not only complement the high demand and needs for
nutrition by society, but it will also avoid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While due to shortage in their supply, in June 2010 prices of rice and chili have increased by 2.67%
and 45.7% (BPS, 2010). It indicates that price mechanism has been working along side with less
government intervention included. If this continues, not only price will increase due to high demand
and scarce of goods, but it will also affect the amount of nutrition taken by society, where fruits and
vegetables are the staple food of daily diets. This clearly shows that action has to be done by the
government, to varying people s diet and to improve nutrition, and also to stabilize the prices of
horticultural products as well.
Government is working on a bill to improve fruit and vegetables supplies, in order to guarantee a
continuous supply of horticultural products and to improve market outcome by facilitating better
capital access, financing and providing guarantees (TheJakartaPost, 2010). These will prevent
shortage of supply in market and will avoid prices to increase. Government will also have to come out
with policy in order to achieve goal of equality. Dadi Sudiana, chairperson of Chili Agribusiness

It Is Crucial To Have A Classroom Management Plan In Place
It is crucial to have a classroom management plan in place to have a successful classroom for the
students and teacher. A classroom should never consist of teachers raising their voices constantly to
get the students attention or students being in fear of teacher throughout the day. A classroom should
feel like a community with active members who genuinely care about their peers.
Rules of the classroom: In order to create a community, it is important to include the students in the

When a student is having a great day and making amazing choices I will tell them to go choose from
the treasure box . This treasure box will be filled with small cards with different rewards the children
can choose from. Some examples will be, eat lunch with the teacher, no shoes in the classroom all day,
sitting at the teacher s desk all day, teacher helper and so on. Depending on my students and the
interests I will choose rewards that will motivate them.
Group Rewards: I will have the student s desks in groups of 5 7 students, I may assign each group a
color or shape. Throughout the day and our transitional periods, I will assess how well the students
group is performing. If their group is making smooth transitions and following our classroom rules, I

breakfast with the teacher . On this day these students can come in early and I will provide breakfast

Uranium Mining Essay
Uranium was discovered by Martin Klaproth in 1789. Klaproth was a German Chemist that
discovered Uranium in a mineral call pitchblende. It was named after Uranus, the planet, which had
been discovered eight years earlier. Uranium occurs in most rocks in concentrations of 2 to 4 parts per
million and is common in the Earth s crust. This highly density element is used in keels of yachts and
as counterweights for aircraft control surfaces, as well as for radiation shielding. This element
principal uses is in fuel for nuclear reactors and the main raw material for nuclear weapons. Depleted

It can combine with and bind citrates and carbonates in your body. It can deposit in your liver, spleen,
and kidneys. This can be caused by breathing in uranium dusts or by eating substances containing the
element. Uranium mining is a major occupation where people are dealing with this element in the
industry world. Overexposures to this hazard is dealt with when mining. Major mining are done in
Australia and Canada, which has been done for over 40 years. Safety regulations today are among the
most comprehensive and stringent in the world. It has been reported due to inspections that radiation
doses in the mines are well within regulatory limits. In occupational settings, the Occupational Safety
and Health Act (OSHA) regulates the limits of worker exposures based on the solubility of the
uranium compound. The Department of Energy (DOE) has issued regulations applicable to its
facilities that limit environmental discharges and worker exposure to uranium isotopes. OSHA has
established the permissible exposure level (PEL) for airborne uranium in the workplace as 0.25
milligrams cubic meter at a time weighted average (TWA) of a 40 hour workweek. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) has established a maximum contaminant level (MCL) for uranium of 30
micrograms per liter (µg/L) in drinking water. The MCL is the maximum permissible level of a
contaminant in water that is delivered to any user of a public water system. EPA finalized this MCL

Fixed-Price-Incentive Feed Contract
The fixed price incentive fee contract has ceiling price, which is expected to cover all potential risk.
After the allocated budget for the project is solidified then the profit sharing formula is put into place.
This profit sharing formula will help contractors to focus on controlling cost and meeting project
objectives in reasonable time line.
An example of fixed price incentive fee contract would be building a private Catholic school with
required performance requirements. The contractors will have incentives of completing the project
within the allocated budget and reaching performance goals. In this example, the fixed price incentive
fee contract will have a $5,000.00 incentive if contractors finished within projects objective
specifications. Now the contractors would focus on completing the quality measures of the school
below the ceiling price.

The cost plus incentive fee contract is completely different from the two previous contracts. This
contract is starts with a stated fee but offers the flexibility of requesting for additional charges for
incurred cost during the project. Which is very beneficial to the contractor because it will offer the
contractor the option to increase contracted amount in circumstance of unknown risk.
Now the unforeseen issues associated using this type of contract could be very risky for the buyer. For
example, a moving company agrees on stated price to relocate a local bakery into another location.
During the process of relocation the moving company discovers items mounted on the wall; requiring
additional tools and labor. Using this type of contract the moving company would charge additional
cost to complete this moving project. Now the seller is at a major disadvantage due to the unknowns.
The seller s disadvantage proves the last resource to be sacrificed is the cost (Kerzner,

terms of his small sample size of twelve children. (SARAH Collaboration, n.d). This piece of grey
literature used the large study conducted in Denmark involving 537,303 children, that found
unvaccinated children were just as likely to develop autism as vaccinated children. (SARAH

present. Eslick, Taylor and Swerdfeger found through their review of five cohort studies that there is
no evidence of a relationship between vaccination and autism... (Taylor, 2014, p.3628). Although both

amount of references noted therefore showing superficial research. (SARAH Collabortaion, n.d).

Dollar General Case Analysis
Intuitively one might assume that Dollar General, the well known extreme value retailer, has an
established competitive advantage versus other consumer goods retailers with respect to price. It
would then follow that cost would be a defining characteristic of the company, and a cost analysis an
appropriate analytical tool. However, the four distinct types of retailers within the dollar store retail
segment (original dollar stores, close out retailers, limited assortment grocers, and extreme value
retailers) all compete on price. Dollar General is very competitive in this regard, but this alone has not
rendered the company successful; price is not Dollar General s competitive advantage amongst its
competitors. Therefore, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would suggest the company to carry out the following actions. First, the company should seek
limited expansion within the continental United States (US extreme value industry still growing at
$1.5 billion/year), namely into California. However, expansion should be limited to this state only.
Whereas development within the US had been the company s growth engine for years, the company is
now closing and remodeling stores with equal returns. As such, the company s growth aims should be
moved abroad (Europe), where extreme value markets are well received, and stores with limited SKU
s fair better than larger discount outlets. Secondly, store merchandise productivity could be enhanced
by eliminating seasonal items (costumes, summer toys) and adding more strategic grocery items.
Research suggests that same store growth could be spurred by a heavier emphasis on fresh grocery
items, and Dollar General appears to have the delivery capabilities to keep a fair supply of perishables
on hand. A slightly larger store size for new shops might be necessary for this sort of development, as
Dollar General seems to have slightly underestimated the sweet spot for its store size with the current
store model. The stores would remain small enough to facilitate accelerated shopping, but large
enough to hold a proper number of SKU s, still in the

Leisure Through My Life Essay
Leisure Through My Life Throughout my life I have engaged in many leisure activities that vary
through the levels in Nash s Paradigm of Free Time. Now that I am 18, I have realized that a lot of
activities that I enjoy are filled with social interaction, because without it I don t get any gratification,
just momentary pleasure that leaves me with an empty feeling. Csikszentmihalyi explains the
difference between gratifying experiences and pleasurable experiences, and how to experience flow .
(Archibald, 2008, p. 4) There are many leisure activities that affected me throughout my life and
drastically affected my physiological, social, and psychological well being. My life and the person I

I learned how to be social and since we all love sports, we would get together and watch our high
school s games. We would hang out all the time and sometimes we would kill time by going to each

The Birth Of Nuclear Medicine
Introduction It is difficult to determine the birth of nuclear medicine due to the many contributions
made my scientists of carious fields. However, most notably, during bla blah Understanding the uses,
benefits and side effect of nuclear medicine is crucial due to its significant and ongoing contribution to
the medical field. Throughout this paper focus will be placed on how radioactivity has benefited the
detection, control and at times, complete elimination of cancer. Background Nuclear medicine is a
medical speciality whereby radiopharmaceuticals drugs containing radioactive materials called
radioisotopes are given to a patient in order to determine the severity of or treat a variety of diseases.
However, to understand this and the impact that different physics principles have on the function of
nuclear medicine, these principles must first be explained. Atoms; the building blocks of matter,
contain a centrally located nucleus inside of which there are positively and neutrally charged
subatomic particles known respectively as protons and neutrons. Electrons orbit around them and have
a negative charge. The name isotope is given to atoms with the same number of protons but a different
number of neutrons. When isotopes occur, they serve to stabilise the proceeding atom, however, if
there are too many or too few neutrons, then they become unstable and are known as radioisotopes.
Radioisotopes are often artificially created through irradiation, which is where an

Bateman Consumer Culture
Harron further depicts her version of 1980 s consumer culture by emphasizing the depth at which
materialism has invaded the minds of the all characters. The epitome of self absorption is Bateman
himself, and foreboding quality when combined with his lack of morality and aggressive tendencies.
Harron makes use of narration in order to introduce Bateman to the audience, something she employs
at the very start of the movie. After detailing his morning routine Bateman narrates that there is an
idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity, something

It is through his narrations that the audience is shown the extent at which Belfort revels in his own
excessive debauchery. Towards the beginning of the film Belfort asserts that money doesn t just buy
you a better life, better food, better cars, better pussy, it also makes you a better person. You can give
generously to the church or political party of your choice. You can save the fucking spotted owls if
you want. I always wanted to be rich (Scorsese 4:20). Belfort s primary drive is to have more material
things in his possession, and this includes his wife and his children, because he believes that it will
make his life better and more fulfilling. But despite all of his debauchery, lies, and manipulation that
he executes in order to acquire more things, Jordan Belfort ultimately goes unpunished. Sure, he
spends a brief period of time in jail, but he ultimately never feels any psychological remorse for his
actions, in fact, in the last scene of the movie, he is teaching a gathering of willing pupils how to
become an amazing salesman like him(Scorsese 2:51:37). As one writer comments, he makes no
efforts to explain or justify his actions. On the contrary, he trusts that, vicariously at least, we are glad
to participate in the deception and debauchery. I want them to live like me, he says of his savages, and
for three hours, that includes us (Rollert).

A Study On Annan Academy s Geography Class
Carlisle is the only city in Cumbria, automatically making it the administrative centre of the county.
Other than administration, Carlisle has several other areas in which its activities are focused, such as
tourism, shopping, and education. These areas are known as settlement functions. Functions tend to
change and develop as a city grows over the years. Carlisle is a successful city, but whether or not this
is due to its changing functions is debatable.
Annan Academy s Geography class went to Carlisle in September 2015 to obtain primary research
data of the city s geographical issues.
Method 1
In order to figure out some of the current main functions of Carlisle, the first research method used for
this report was two RICEPOTS surveys of different areas in Carlisle the CBD (the square near the
Tourist Information Centre) and the area from West Tower Street to Corporation Road. These areas
were chosen to display a contrast in the land usage of two areas of Carlisle which are close together.
The RICEPOTS surveys were completed by walking around the areas and annotating a map with the
purpose of each building in the area. Once both maps were annotated, the information was put into a
table before being compiled into a comparative bar graph (see: Graph 1).
The results show that West Tower Street to Corporation Road is largely residential, with 35 terraced
houses, and that the square near the Tourist Information Centre is largely commercial with 47

was the question around the speed the vehicles were travelling at when the collision occurred. The
results showed that subjects interrogated with Smashed give a mean speed of 10.46mph and those
with hit a mean of 8.00 mph which evidenced a significantly different result. One week later the
participants were invited back and interrogated as to whether they saw glass in the accident to which
there was none. The expectation was that the participants who had initially been questioned with the

Roman Catholic Cultural Factors
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese have a religious requirement that the priests must remain celibate.
This is one cultural factor for the Catholic community, that some believe has contributed to sexual
offenses. Another cultural factor is that some men consider having sex with an older, attractive, adult
women as getting lucky. Although, legally sex with a person who is under the age of consent is called
statutory rape. However, women are less likely to believe the idea that a young boy is lucky because
he had sex with an older women. It has also been a social attitude that in a marriage, rape cannot
happen. In the past, the husband would not have been convicted of rape even if he forced or threatened
his wife into sexual activity (Rathus). Another

What Is The Influence Of Elizabeth Cady Stanton On Women s...
As the daughter of an attorney who often expressed a strong preference for his sons, she made clear,
early on, a desire to thrive in all intellectual and other male dominated realms. Following the
devastating death of her last surviving brother, she declared that she would work hard to achieve all
that her brother had accomplished and beyond. In spite of her efforts, however, her unremorseful
father simply responded that he wished she was born a boy. This was the life of Elizabeth Cady
Stanton. Displeased with the prejudiced attitudes towards women and fueled by her passion for gender
equality, she was determined to break free from confinement in order to pave the way for women of
future generations. The history of the past is but one long struggle upward to equality, the activist

As a result, she engaged in a variety of social movements prominent during the period of her youth. In
the mid 1800 s, Stanton married a fellow abolitionist she had encountered through her involvement in

speak and write about social issues, Stanton found herself restricted to the domestic positions of
mother and wife. Dissatisfied with her limited roles, she took it upon herself to actively re engage in
the temperance, abolitionist and most importantly, women s rights communities. While she still
devoted a great amount of time and dedication towards her family, she worked to establish
relationships with other like minded women. For the rest of her life, Elizabeth Cady Stanton would
spend her time advocating for women s suffrage, increased economic opportunities, and gender
neutral divorce laws, among many others that remain prevalent even to this

Deadliest Hurricane Research Paper
On the eighth of September, 1900, a nameless hurricane crept up the wall of the Gulf of Mexico and
ambushed the city of Galveston, Texas. Within only a few minutes, a massive storm surge rose up and
gulped the tourist trap town in water. Entire steel structures were folded in on themselves and fish and
ships alike were stranded. Streets, dammed from the rubble of surround ing structures, were

Descriptive Essay On A Day In The Desert
After working in the field on a scorching summer day I was as thirsty and hot as a lizard in the
Atacama Desert, the driest desert in the world, without water for nine years and nine months and nine
days and being beaten down by scaring heat from the merciless sun. The idea of water seemed foreign
to me because there were none around then. Suddenly, I saw a shiny, metallic water fountain and my
body urged me in the direction of the water fountain. When I took a drink of water, my parched mouth
felt relieved, as if I took a dive in a crystal clear pool on a hot summer day. The cold and refreshing
water soared from the water fountain into my mouth and moisturized my rough, dry tongue. As the
cold liquid sloshes down my throat, I let a small smile as the icy water alleviated my dehydrated body.
However, my body is not only longing for water, but also as well as for sustenance. My stomach growl
in defiance as it was deprived of proper nutritional substance for the next six grueling hours until
dinner, which seemed to be in the distant future.
When dinner time arrived, I was ravenous. I was so famished to point that I could down a full course
meal in the time frame of five minutes or even less. When my mom, my lord, and savior, raining down
a plate of juicy steak sided with mashed potato and a bowl of salad upon the table, my primal instinct
urged me to force down the food like a caveman back in the stone age, disregarding any sort of table
manner that existed, yet, with a

Analysis of The Pilgrim s Progress by John Bunyan Essay
Analysis of The Pilgrim s Progress by John Bunyan
John Bunyan s The Pilgrim s Progress is an allegorical story about the Christian religion. It allegorizes
the journey of a Christian into the Celestial City, which represents heaven. Although Pilgrim s
Progress may seem simple and straightforward, there are many deeper meanings throughout the whole
story. Bunyan uses the names of his characters to signify whom the character represents in the story,
for example, the character Hopeful represents hopefulness, Help represents people who are willing to
help others in need of assistance, Faithful represents people who are faithful to whatever they are
associated with, and the main character, Christian, represents all young ... Show more content on

Christian cries out for Faithful to stop and wait so they can be companions along their travel, but
Faithful replies, No, I am upon my life, and the avenger of blood is behind me (60). In the story, the
life he is trying to save is his real, tangible life. But his running away from the avenger of blood to
save his life actually symbolizes saving Faithful s spiritual life. Because he has sinned and broken the
Ten Commandment, You shall not kill, he is now being chased by death and if caught, he will kill
Faithful; this death characterizes the death of eternal life and therefore not being able to enter heaven
(Deuteronomy 5:17). In the bible there is a passage that talks about the avenger of blood and who is
he. This is the provision for the manslayer, who by fleeing there may save his life. If anyone kills his
neighbor unintentionally without having been at enmity with him in time past #8230;he may flee to
one of these cities and save his life; lest the avenger of blood in hot anger pursue the manslayer and
overtake him (Deuteronomy 19:4 6). Jesus Christ was born without sin, and never sinned throughout
his lifetime. Faithful, however, who although did not try to kill his neighbor, killed him
unintentionally and therefore, sinned. Jesus would never have caused pain to any living creatures,
neither accidentally nor deliberately. This is one example of how Faithful differs from Christ.

Justice And Punishment In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood
Warning! A runaway robber has just been caught in the middle of the highway. Policemen are
investigating the case and considering if they should punish the criminal or let him go. How will
prison affect the person? Will he benefit from time in prison or will it only make him worse? The
theme of justice and punishment is explored in real life and books. Life in prison may have some
positive influences, but to a large extent it is not successful in changing someone s mindset. In the
book In Cold Blood , Truman Capote uses syntax, diction, and a variety of details to support the theme
that justice and punishment is not effective. Truman Capote efficiently uses syntax to support the
theme that punishment is ineffective. Perry s first time in prison shows how his horrendous treatment
caused him to become a harmful person. Capote states, I was sentenced to 5 to 10 years for grand
larceny, burglary, and jailbreak. I felt I was very unjustly dealt with. I became very bitter while I was
in prison. Upon my release I worked for a while in Nevada and Idaho went to las Vegas and continued
to Kansas where got into the situation I m in now. Not time for more (276). The use of short sentences
such as I became very bitter while I was in prison makes it stand out and is more important. Also,
starting off with I in all of the sentence is a form of parallelism. The first person point of view shows
all of Perry s feelings in this scene. The short sentences and the first person point of

philosophical underpinnings suggest that change comes through political activism and even war and
revolution if peaceful means have failed. In addition, liberation theologians view sin as the root of
poverty and capitalism as the most ruinous form of sin on earth. Thus, Liberation Theologists argue
that capitalism should be confronted as pure evil and replaced by a more just and equitable socialist
system. The Pope unequivocally denounced these ideas as ideologically misguided. Many Nicaraguan
Catholics were disappointed with the Pope s position on political action because they felt like he
missed a chance to bolster the revolution and support much needed change for the people. They had
lived under years of tyranny and oppression at the hands of the conservative regime. And thousands of
innocent Nicaraguan citizens had suffered gross social injustices and even death at the hands of their
oppressors. If the Pope had supported their revolutionary cause, the people would have enjoyed the
backing of the Catholic Church. And if that had occurred, it would have provided the people with a
sense of spiritual support in their fight for freedom and equality. But the Pope s denouncement of

In many circumstances, it is up to the minority whom are joining the majority to adopt and change its

situation which occurred between the Natives and the Europeans during the 1513 conquest. The

Oedipus As A Great Representation Of Aristotle s...
Oedipus is regarded as a great representation of Aristotle s characterization of the tragic hero. He is
able to accomplish this task because of his ability to demonstrate virtue of wisdom regardless of the
flaws and the challenges he endures.
Introduction
Aristotle demonstrated the creation of a plot in literature. The method Aristotle adopted to create a plot
involved the use of tight nexus of ignorance whereby the word Harmatia was mistranslated. The
technique of plot creation enables an author to come up with a realistic illustration to demonstrate a
real life experience. A realistic tragic story should not have tragic pleasure. The nature of a tragic story
lacking the ability to change the order of events enables the readers not to experience emotional

The way Sophocles Oedipus exemplifies the definition of a tragic hero by Aristotle s is broad.
According to Sophocles Oedipus, the definition of Aristotle hero is viewed as someone of a high
position who is of valuable qualities in terms of character and moral values. The person does not
commit mistakes of his own. Aristotle s defines tragedy as a very important act done as results of
sympathy, and fear (Peter, 2005). Tragedy hero is also described as a person of nobility during birth
that brings about certain flaws that would results to his failure. The situation is referred to as
Harmatia. It is also indicated that true tragic hero also go through peripeteia. It is also revealed

Exhibition Review Dale Chihuly, the Halcyon Gallery
Dale Chihuly is an American artist, born September 20th, 1941 who is known for his glass sculptures.
One of his most well known pieces is the blue and green glass sculpture hanging in the front entrance
of the Victoria Albert Museum in London (figure 1). His work has included over 200 museum

The entire exhibition was made up of glass sculptures fitting into several different genres created by

The curving edges of the discs created a natural feel to the piece, softening it.
Another part of the exhibition that I found visually stimulating were the Basket themed pieces, created
in the 1970 s, as I thought their smooth edges and insides captured and reflected the lights really
effectively (figures 8 and 9). I also really liked the multiple baskets stacked inside one another,
showing how Chihuly can handcraft the basket shapes on a variety of scales. The lip wrap on each
basket is often a contrasting colour, developed from the tradition of Venetian glassmaking, and is a
trademark of Chihuly s work. I feel the bold colour lip wraps help to draw the viewer s eye into the
centre of the baskets, revealing the smaller baskets within.
I really liked the contrast in the colour of the two chandelier pieces in the windows of the Halcyon
Gallery (figures 10 and 11). The deep red and blues within the Cranberry and Clear Chandelier and the
Dusky Sky Chandelier draw the attention of passers by, encouraging you to step closer and view the

Therefore, if you have already developed diabetes, you may wonder whether the lifestyle changes that
could have prevented diabetes will gain you anything. The answer is yes: the same lifestyle changes
that might have prevented your diabetes can help you to treat it. As important as lifestyle is in causing
diabetes, it may be even more important in treating type diabetes, as well as diabetes. Diabetes is
unique chronic disease, affected by virtually every aspect of lifestyle, including eating, physical
activity, and school, work, and travel schedule. Conversely, all of these activities are affected by
diabetes. While many diseases require attention to taking prescribed medications, diabetes demands
constant attention and vigilance with regard no timing and content of meals and physical activity,
glucose monitoring, administration of numerous medications including insulin, foot care, and a host of
other self care requirements. And diabetes can be a petulant, jealous companion; if you ignore your
care, even for a little while, it will make you pay with uncomfortable and potentially dangerous
hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia. And if you don t pay attention to the myriad details of care over a
long period of time, the penalty can be much more severe with loss of vision, kidney failure, foot
ulcers, amputations and heart disease. On the bright side, during the past two decades, clinical trials
have shown us that persons with diabetes can live long, productive, and complication free lives.
Studies in diabetes have demonstrated how to achieve near normal blood glucose levels. In addition,
we have developed effective interventions to lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels in people

social media in social movements. After a lull in social media activity, the Bundys came back to
protest the prosecution of Dwight and Steven Hammond, who were ranchers who committed acts of
arson on public land in 2012 (Bever, 2016). This lead them to react and occupy a building on a
wildlife sanctuary in Oregon. After a period of time, the F.B.I. stepped in to shut down the occupation
of the wildlife sanctuary, this lead to the arrests of many members and the death of one, LaVoy
Finicum. After Finicum was shot, his daughter used Facebook to confirm his death. Fearing a raid,
later a man used Finicum s YouTube channel to also announce his death and make another call to
arms. Finally, they used social media to issue a stand down. The usage of social media was near

Essay on Chaos Theory Explained
Chaos Theory Explained Traditionally, scientists have looked for the simplest view of the world
around us. Now, mathematics and computer powers have produced a theory that helps researchers to
understand the complexities of nature. The theory of chaos touches all disciplines. Ian Percival, The
Essence of Chaos Part I: The Basics of Chaos. Watch a leaf flow down stream; watch its behavior
within the water... Perhaps it will sit upon the surface, gently twirling along with the current, dancing
around eddies, slightly spinning, then all of a sudden, it slaps into a rock or gets sucked beneath the
water by a small whirlpool. After doing this enough times one will realize it is nearly impossible to

In the last years of the 19th century French mathematician, physicist and philosopher Henri Poincare
stumbled headlong into chaos with a realization that the reductionism method may be illusory in
nature. He was studying his chosen field at the time; a field he called the mathematics of closed
systems the epitome of Newtonian physics. A Closed system is one made up of just a few interacting
bodies sealed off from outside contamination. According to classical physics, such systems are
perfectly orderly and predictable. A simple pendulum in a vacuum, free of friction and air resistance
will conserve its energy. The pendulum will swing back and forth for all eternity. It will not be subject
to the dissipation of entropy, which eats its way into systems by causing them to give up their energy
to the surrounding environment. Classical scientists were convinced that any randomness and chaos
disturbing a system such as a pendulum in a vacuum or the revolving planets could only come from
outside chance contingencies. Barring those, pendulum and planets must continue forever, unvarying
in their courses.2 It was this comfortable picture of nature that Poincare blew apart when he attempted
to determine The stability of our solar system... For a system containing only two bodies, such as the
sun and

Summary: In this part of the chapter, we are given a brief summary on the farm that they live on. They
live on a large farm with 6 family members who all have to help maintain the farm in Minnesota. They
have some traditions that would be odd in the eyes of others. For example, when an animal dies they
lay it on the ground to help fertilize the ground beneath it.The family members on the farm consist of
Mother, Father, Uncle David, Wayne and Eldon. The chapter starts off with characterization
explaining the roles of each family member. Eldon is only 11 so he helps around with everyone,
Wayne does the same, but he is also very gifted at baseball and hopes to play professional, Mother
cleans and cook while Uncle David and Father do the majority of the work on the farm. Right now it
is spring on the farm in Minnesota. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The smell of fresh bread in a home gives a comfortable and homey feeling which helps give us an
insight on how they feel about living on a farm.
5: Connection: Recently, my mom has been listening to country music and I occasionally listen to it
with her in the car and when she plays music while she is in the kitchen. A lot of the country music
people she listens to talk about living on the farm and how tranquill it is. In the book The Winter
Room, Eldon talks about how he loves living on the farm and that it feels like home to him and his
family. The music my mom listens to applies to the text because they are both living on the farm, but
with some different experiences. It helps give me multiple perspectives on farm life in this book

Constantine s Personal Beliefs
Constantine I is credited with adapting Christianity to the Roman Empire, ending persecution of
Christians, and eventually converting to the religion himself. However, historians have debated over
his motives; some consider them to be politically fueled, while others argue that they were based on
personal beliefs. After considering the various changes that were brought upon following the
conversion, it is clear that while Constantine s efforts were primarily strategically rooted, personal
beliefs did play a subsidiary role. Constantine s multifaceted relationship with Christianity first
emerged during his days as a successful general. Eusebius, a bishop and historian during the time,
stated that prior to the Battle of the Milvian Bridge, Constantine had a vision of a burning cross in the
sky with a message stating that he would succeed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Constantine laid the foundations of what would soon become a religious and profitable hub and
established himself as the Patriarchate of Constantinople ( Legitimization Under Constantine ). The
institution of Constantinople both indicated the break with its pagan past and highlighted its
acceptance of Christianity. For example, Constantine did not allow pagan ceremonies in the city.
Constantinople flourished as a spiritual and political capital for over a millennium. Constantine was,
once again, most probably interested in the strategic location of the city, as it could be effectively used
for trade and commercial purposes. Additionally, its position made it difficult to be conquered by
rivaling nations. As Constantine was a very intelligent and cunning emperor, he most likely took note
of all of these facts and knew that the empire would benefit economically, as well as culturally and
socially, from the establishment of

James Clark s Article, Without Evidence Or Argument
In Kelly James Clark s Article Without Evidence or Argument , Clark argues that belief in God, does
not require the support of evidence or argument in order for it to be rational. Clark s argument is
against W.K. Clifford s article The Ethics of Belief , in which Clifford claims that everything must be
believed only on the basis of sufficient evidence (139). Throughout Kelly Clark s article he states
many things that support his conclusion of belief without evidence or argument, however, my paper
will only discuss what Clark says on p.139 starting with the paragraph The first problem with Clifford
s... and the following paragraph, ending with the words ...to see why.
Clark begins his article by giving examples of situation that align ... Show more content on

In Clifford s universal demand for evidence he states that you base all of your beliefs on evidence
(138). Clark utilizes this premise to restate the argument in which he will eventually will give
reasoning to why the claim is false. In the article he foreshadows the problem with Clifford s demand
for evidence by saying, No one would disagree: some beliefs require evidence for their rational
acceptability. But all beliefs in every circumstance? (139) Clark is somewhat supporting the demand
for evidence. However, he does not find it rational to believe that evidence is required in every
situation.
This leads us to our next premise, premise II, which states there are rational beliefs that are not
supported by sufficient evidence. Clark identifies these rational beliefs as those acquired through
sensory experience and beliefs that are self evident. He supports this premise by giving examples of
some of these beliefs ..The sky is blue, grass is green .. (139). He goes on to say, ...every proposition is
either true or false.. (139). I think that by Clark including these examples of beliefs through sensory
experiences and self evidence, he seems to be saying that through our experiences, one can acquire
beliefs even if our beliefs are false. It is rational to believe that the sky is blue because it is a belief we
acquire through seeing the sky is blue. But according to Clark, seeing that the sky is blue is not
enough sufficient evidence (like the sufficient

  • 24. Descriptive Essay On A Day In The Desert After working in the field on a scorching summer day I was as thirsty and hot as a lizard in the Atacama Desert, the driest desert in the world, without water for nine years and nine months and nine days and being beaten down by scaring heat from the merciless sun. The idea of water seemed foreign to me because there were none around then. Suddenly, I saw a shiny, metallic water fountain and my body urged me in the direction of the water fountain. When I took a drink of water, my parched mouth felt relieved, as if I took a dive in a crystal clear pool on a hot summer day. The cold and refreshing water soared from the water fountain into my mouth and moisturized my rough, dry tongue. As the cold liquid sloshes down my throat, I let a small smile as the icy water alleviated my dehydrated body. However, my body is not only longing for water, but also as well as for sustenance. My stomach growl in defiance as it was deprived of proper nutritional substance for the next six grueling hours until dinner, which seemed to be in the distant future. When dinner time arrived, I was ravenous. I was so famished to point that I could down a full course meal in the time frame of five minutes or even less. When my mom, my lord, and savior, raining down a plate of juicy steak sided with mashed potato and a bowl of salad upon the table, my primal instinct urged me to force down the food like a caveman back in the stone age, disregarding any sort of table manner that existed, yet, with a ... Analysis of The Pilgrim s Progress by John Bunyan Essay Analysis of The Pilgrim s Progress by John Bunyan John Bunyan s The Pilgrim s Progress is an allegorical story about the Christian religion. It allegorizes the journey of a Christian into the Celestial City, which represents heaven. Bunyan uses the names of his characters to signify whom the character represents in the story, for example, the character Hopeful represents hopefulness, Help represents people who are willing to help others in need of assistance, Faithful represents people who are faithful to whatever they are associated with, and the main character, Christian, represents all young ... Christian cries out for Faithful to stop and wait so they can be companions along their travel, but Faithful replies, No, I am upon my life, and the avenger of blood is behind me (60). In the story, the life he is trying to save is his real, tangible life. But his running away from the avenger of blood to save his life actually symbolizes saving Faithful s spiritual life. Because he has sinned and broken the Ten Commandment, You shall not kill, he is now being chased by death and if caught, he will kill Faithful; this death characterizes the death of eternal life and therefore not being able to enter heaven (Deuteronomy 5:17). In the bible there is a passage that talks about the avenger of blood and who is he. This is the provision for the manslayer, who by fleeing there may save his life. If anyone kills his neighbor unintentionally without having been at enmity with him in time past #8230;he may flee to one of these cities and save his life; lest the avenger of blood in hot anger pursue the manslayer and overtake him (Deuteronomy 19:4 6). Jesus Christ was born without sin, and never sinned throughout his lifetime. Faithful, however, who although did not try to kill his neighbor, killed him unintentionally and therefore, sinned. Jesus would never have caused pain to any living creatures, neither accidentally nor deliberately. This is one example of how Faithful differs from Christ. Faith is a large part in a ... Will he benefit from time in prison or will it only make him worse? The theme of justice and punishment is explored in real life and books. Life in prison may have some positive influences, but to a large extent it is not successful in changing someone s mindset. In the book In Cold Blood , Truman Capote uses syntax, diction, and a variety of details to support the theme that justice and punishment is not effective. Truman Capote efficiently uses syntax to support the theme that punishment is ineffective. Perry s first time in prison shows how his horrendous treatment caused him to become a harmful person. Capote states, I was sentenced to 5 to 10 years for grand larceny, burglary, and jailbreak. I felt I was very unjustly dealt with. I became very bitter while I was in prison. Upon my release I worked for a while in Nevada and Idaho went to las Vegas and continued to Kansas where got into the situation I m in now. Not time for more (276). The use of short sentences such as I became very bitter while I was in prison makes it stand out and is more important. Also, starting off with I in all of the sentence is a form of parallelism. Its philosophical underpinnings suggest that change comes through political activism and even war and revolution if peaceful means have failed. In addition, liberation theologians view sin as the root of poverty and capitalism as the most ruinous form of sin on earth. Thus, Liberation Theologists argue that capitalism should be confronted as pure evil and replaced by a more just and equitable socialist system. The Pope unequivocally denounced these ideas as ideologically misguided. Many Nicaraguan Catholics were disappointed with the Pope s position on political action because they felt like he missed a chance to bolster the revolution and support much needed change for the people. The method Aristotle adopted to create a plot involved the use of tight nexus of ignorance whereby the word Harmatia was mistranslated. The technique of plot creation enables an author to come up with a realistic illustration to demonstrate a real life experience. A realistic tragic story should not have tragic pleasure. • 44. Constantine s Personal Beliefs Constantine I is credited with adapting Christianity to the Roman Empire, ending persecution of Christians, and eventually converting to the religion himself. However, historians have debated over his motives; some consider them to be politically fueled, while others argue that they were based on personal beliefs. After considering the various changes that were brought upon following the conversion, it is clear that while Constantine s efforts were primarily strategically rooted, personal beliefs did play a subsidiary role. Constantine s multifaceted relationship with Christianity first emerged during his days as a successful general. Eusebius, a bishop and historian during the time, stated that prior to the Battle of the Milvian Bridge, Constantine had a vision of a burning cross in the sky with a message stating that he would succeed ... Constantine laid the foundations of what would soon become a religious and profitable hub and established himself as the Patriarchate of Constantinople ( Legitimization Under Constantine ). The institution of Constantinople both indicated the break with its pagan past and highlighted its acceptance of Christianity. For example, Constantine did not allow pagan ceremonies in the city. Constantinople flourished as a spiritual and political capital for over a millennium. Constantine was, once again, most probably interested in the strategic location of the city, as it could be effectively used for trade and commercial purposes. Additionally, its position made it difficult to be conquered by rivaling nations. As Constantine was a very intelligent and cunning emperor, he most likely took note of all of these facts and knew that the empire would benefit economically, as well as culturally and socially, from the establishment of ... • 46. James Clark s Article, Without Evidence Or Argument In Kelly James Clark s Article Without Evidence or Argument , Clark argues that belief in God, does not require the support of evidence or argument in order for it to be rational. Clark s argument is against W.K. Clifford s article The Ethics of Belief , in which Clifford claims that everything must be believed only on the basis of sufficient evidence (139). Throughout Kelly Clark s article he states many things that support his conclusion of belief without evidence or argument, however, my paper will only discuss what Clark says on p.139 starting with the paragraph The first problem with Clifford s... and the following paragraph, ending with the words ...to see why. Clark begins his article by giving examples of situation that align ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Clifford s universal demand for evidence he states that you base all of your beliefs on evidence (138). Clark utilizes this premise to restate the argument in which he will eventually will give reasoning to why the claim is false. In the article he foreshadows the problem with Clifford s demand for evidence by saying, No one would disagree: some beliefs require evidence for their rational acceptability. But all beliefs in every circumstance? (139) Clark is somewhat supporting the demand for evidence. However, he does not find it rational to believe that evidence is required in every situation. This leads us to our next premise, premise II, which states there are rational beliefs that are not supported by sufficient evidence. Clark identifies these rational beliefs as those acquired through sensory experience and beliefs that are self evident. He supports this premise by giving examples of some of these beliefs ..The sky is blue, grass is green .. (139). He goes on to say, ...every proposition is either true or false.. (139). I think that by Clark including these examples of beliefs through sensory experiences and self evidence, he seems to be saying that through our experiences, one can acquire beliefs even if our beliefs are false. It is rational to believe that the sky is blue because it is a belief we acquire through seeing the sky is blue. But according to Clark, seeing that the sky is blue is not enough sufficient evidence (like the sufficient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
