Choices In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Choices are present in every aspect of society, and all humans are forced to make choices throughout
their lifetimes. One of those choices that must be made correlates with a theme that resonates
throughout all of William Shakespeare s plays. One of his works, A Midsummer Night s Dream, can
provoke his readers to significantly ponder on the idea of love. All individuals must decide for
themselves how love works. Is it a choice, or unavoidable feelings that can t be explained? It can be
debated that in Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, individuals do not have the luxury of
being able to choose whom they love. Their hearts simply just love. This play has a rather symbolic
way of revealing its author s interpretation of this theme. Every

The Separation Surgery On Conjoined Twins
I would usually read books like this, but I would like to mention how interesting it was while reading.
One of Us has valuable information and stories of conjoined twins, not only in the United States but
all around the world. I found it interesting how the author uses medical term and quantitative data to
identify the different types of twin and how many are there. I did not know there were so many
different types of conjoined twin, and where they are attached or infused. Alice Dreger purpose of this
book is analyzing case studies both past and present, along with questions and assumptions about
anatomy and normality, and transforms our understanding of how we are all intricately and
inextricably joined. She also explored the separation surgery on conjoined twins. Providing historical
and contemporary evidence that most adults conjoined twins do not desire to be separated, and that
many operations are carried out on children too young, by individualizing them at all cost which may
result in a tragic event.
Most children born with challenging anatomies have their bodies changed because of what physicians
were forcing parents to believe there is no hope fundamentally. One of Us views conjoined twins, as
people living with unique anatomies, and considers these issues within the larger historical context of
anatomical politics. In the book, it spoke about a few conjoined twins that were exploited by putting
them on display and numerous exhibitions. Chang and Eng Bunker

Critique Of Hegel s Pure Thoughts
freedom. Offering an opposing analysis to Hegel s pure thoughts, Marx a materialist, saw ideas and
perceptions as the result of material social, economical and historical conditions. Marx analyzed the
basis of all history to understand civil society. Property was at the basis of Marx s argument and how
the state developed. In critiquing Hegel, Marx thought reality created the mind. People s ideas and
ideologies were conditioned by the historical formation of powers or production and relations to
production (Notes, PE 100: 3/17/15). This is the formation of his distinction between the relationship
of the economy and politics. He believed the economy consisted of the forces of production; relations
of production, and division of labor are the dominating forces in the state. He thought the material
base, which is the economy, determined the superstructure , which included culture, ideology, and
religion. He placed an importance on the relationship between the base (modes of production) and
superstructure because the ruling class controls society s material power as well as its ruling
intellectual power (Marx, 163). The role of consciousness played a different angle in Marx s view as
he stated, it is not consciousness that determines life, but life that determines consciousness (Marx, 36
37). The formation of consciousness is strongly determined by the class structure of society. In further,
the ruling class in society dominates consciousness, who are the bourgeoisie.

Female Frog Clovers
A news study has found that ponds in suburban areas have almost twice the proportion of female frogs
to male frogs than isolated, forest bound ponds. The estrogen in suburban wastewater disrupts frogs
reproductive systems, causing them to spawn far more female frogs than male frogs, and in effect
threatening the entire species and ecosystem.
The study was done by Yale University and compared the proportions of frog sexes between 21
suburban ponds and isolated ponds in southwestern Connecticut. Its findings were published in the
latest issue of the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
End of an Era for Male Frogs
In the wild, the study found, male frogs outnumber female frogs, accounting for almost 60 percent of
the frog population. But in suburban areas, it s a different story: female frogs account for more than 60
percent of frog populations, nearly doubling the rate of male frogs.

Suburban Housewives?
Actually, the estrogen that is bringing about so many female frogs has nothing to do with the female
humans who live nearby. But it has everything to do with clovers.
Clovers? Yes, clovers are just one of several common lawn plants that naturally produce
phytoestrogens. When plants like clovers occur in unnatural concentrations as they do in the grassy
suburbs, phytoestrogen levels in water become high enough to alter the biology of water bound
animals.
Amphibians are especially susceptible. While the study focused on green frogs as a common North
American amphibian species, the same results are predicted for toads, newts, and salamanders. Further
studies will investigate whether these phytoestrogens are even affecting the reproduction of birds and
mammals.
Burn the Clovers! Burn Them All!
Well, it s not that simple. The problem is, clovers and other lawn flora are not the only things causing
frogs to birth females at such high rates, they are only the most surprising discovery of the

Antibiotics Resistance
Antibiotics are powerful very frequently used potential drugs in fighting bacterial infections
worldwide, [1]. These agents saved millions of lives in the past fifty years in both hospital based and
outpatient settings. Inadequate measures to control the spreading of infections, overprescribing as well
as inappropriate selection and dosing of antibiotics by healthcare providers, unfettered access to
antimicrobials by public, failure to adhere to clinically desired treatment regimens are some of the
driving force to spread of antibiotics resistance, [2]. In addition, lack of regulations to promote the
rational use of antibiotics in humans, infection prevention and control are some of the other factors
that lead to emergence of resistance to antibiotics, [3].
In under developing and low middle income countries (LMIC), inadequate regulations and high levels
of availability of antibiotics without prescription have led to higher incidence of inappropriate use ...

In addition, counterfeit or substandard medications including antibiotics have been identified in many
resource limited regions, particularly in sub Saharan Africa, [5,6]. Health systems in poor countries
often cannot offer the most optimal therapies required to appropriately deliver rational antimicrobial
medicines, [6]. Ringertz et al study highlighted that prophylactic and irrational antibiotics use were
exacerbating resistance in Ethiopian hospitals, [7]. There is a correlation between antibiotic use and
subsequent resistance [7].The inappropriate prescribing including lack of education and training for
health professional are wide common in low resource countries, [8]. It the influence of antibiotic
usage behavior of individuals are influenced beyond their knowledge by their cultural preferences,

The Role of Hbcus in American Society
For almost two hundred years, Historically Black Colleges and Universities or HBCUs have played a
pivotal role in the education of African American people, and negro people internationally. These
schools have provided the majority of black college graduates at the Graduate and Post Graduate
level; schools such as Hampton University, Morehouse University, Spellman University and Howard
University are four universities at the forefront of the advanced education of blacks. For sometime
there has been a discussion on whether or not these institutes should remain in existence or if they are
just another form of racism. There were also concerning the quality of education provided at these
institutions. In my opinion, from the evidence provided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also believe that HBCUs are a better alternative to affirmative action. These institutions have the
capacity to attract and motivate many young black people, to advance their education. By seeing
people just like them, with similar backgrounds and similar interest making great achievements, it
provides those young black people with a pride and a sense of empowerment. This is most effective in
the poorer neighborhoods where morale is low. It is true that HBCUs enroll students with the lowest
test scores in American education; according to Elias Blake Jr. in the article from Emerge, Black
colleges are still enrolling a majority of the most vulnerable students that have the lowest income and
the lowest test scores (par. 7). Studies show that in many disadvantaged communities, the quality of
education is not up to par with the quality in the wealthier communities. Therefore, those in these
poorer communities are at a disadvantage. But from the statistics on the amount on the amount of
successful African Americans who graduate from these historically black institutions, something right
must be occurring. I believe that these HBCUs are an ideal environment for these students as they
place these under achieving students in an environment which they are comfortable, and allows them
the ability to develop their skills. In the end, most of

Essay On Roe V. Wade
Prior to the landmark case of Roe vs. Wade, abortion was legal in the United States under common
law and with several stipulations. It was legal under the advice of medical personnel or in the attempt
to save a mother s life. Though abortion were widely available it was considered a secretive and back
alley procedure that threatened the life of the patient and the persons conducting the abortion. In 1965,
illegal abortions made up one sixth of all pregnancy and childbirth related deaths. A survey conducted
between 1965 and 1967 found that 8 in 10 low income women in New York City who had an abortion
attempted a dangerous self induced procedure (planedparenthood.com).
Jane Roe (not her real name) was an unmarried woman from Texas. At the time, Texas state law
declared it a felony to conduct an abortion without the direct approval of a medical doctor. The
District Attorney of Dallas at the time was a man named Henry Wade. Roe filed a suit against Mr.
Wade and Texas State law that it was violating her Constitutional rights to choose.
It was the Supreme Court decision to overrule not only Texas s law but all laws that prohibited the
abortion of a fetus after the first trimester of a pregnancy. In a 7 2 decision they declared it was in
violation of the person s right to privacy and the Fourteenth Amendment, among others.

Comparing Azkaban And The Dark Knight
Sirius Black from The Prisoner of Azkaban and The Joker from The Dark Knight are similar and
different in Many ways. Whether it is the goals or individual sacrifices they have or themselves as
people. Each character shows that they are both so different but at the same time so similar. The Joker
himself is a very odd character as a whole. The Joker proves many times through out the film The
Dark Knight that he does not care about the sacrifices he has to make or even the consequences simply
because he does not believe he will genuinely get any. The list of sacrifices The Joker made includes
friends, family, money, his sanity, freedom, and even his own life. The Joker is constantly sacrificing

to believe this Sirius Black sacrifices his relationship and the love, he had for Harry Potter and his

Prisoner of Azkaban but the one thing that does stand out that he chooses to sacrifice, and that is his
life. Sirius Black decided to sacrifice his life to save Harry Potter, and save his friends from Lupin
who turned into a ware wolf. Although each movie has two different story lines and each character
shows that they are, so different they both share so many things because of the sacrifices they made.

Sherman Alexie s Evolution
Buffalo Bill is one of three central images depicted in Alexie s Evolution . In analyzing this character,
Alexie s use of situational irony and sarcasm expresses the systematic exploitation of the of Native
American people by the American government. As it stands, Alexie s crafts the image of Buffalo Bill
as a cunningly, greedy, unscrupulous, and opportunistic business owner which is in direct conflict to
the historical figure, known as Buffalo Bill, who actually hunted and exterminated many Native
Americans because he considered them to be uncivilized savages; a popular sentiment expressed by
many contemporaries of the day. However, Alexie s presented imagery of Buffalo Bill is more
palatable to the American psyche while at the same time serving as an ironic confirmation for Native
American people. Moreover, Alexie s Buffalo Bill s character is still in alignment with the ... Show

In Alexie s portrayal of the Indians, he utilizes descriptive imagery that portrays the Indians as
unwitting, desperate customers who willingly sold all of their earthly possessions, to an opportunistic
business owner, Buffalo Bill, in exchange for money and liquor. To drive his point across, Alexie,
notes the Indians extreme decision to ultimately sell their body parts which symbolizes a personal
sacrifice of one s health, or life. In like manner, Alexie notes the business owner demand for the heart
of the Indians which has severe implications that can be taken literally or metaphorically as it relates
to the core of the Native American identity. Overall, although it seems that Alexie s descriptive
imagery in the portrayal of the Indians exemplifies extreme absurdity and exaggeration, Alexie s
imagery of the Indian is, in fact, very much so in alignment with the historical degradation of the

Examples Of Funny Memories With Anton

namely Chinese, handsome, thin, short, bespectacled and love to make people laugh. We fell together
because there was an oil spill on the road so that the motorcycle was driven Anton fell on the road.
When falling, we feel like the riders are being dropped in circuit racing. Our downfall on the road no
less intense with the fall of Valentino Rossi on the racing circuit. People shout to see us fall.

So, we went home before the game ended.
The next day, Anton told me, yesterday really happen real fights between the participants of the game.
I really regret not being able to see a real fight. I can only imagine the fight was like a story in the
movie The Karate Kid.
When did I ask how the end results? Anton tells if they won the game. But after the game is finished,
then their Dojo fight with others Dojo elsewhere.
The question now is if I and Anton still there, whether both of us will be beaten like in the movie The
Karate Kid? Due to the shots of the two of us which caused the match to be the hot atmosphere. I also
do not know the answer. :)
There are still a lot of stories about me and Anton is not told here due to the limited number of words.
To date I will never forget has had a friend named Antonius because we have experienced no day
without laughing while still in college with him.
Anton now lives and works in Sydney, Australia. While I lived in Tangerang, Indonesia.

It was almost the start of a nuclear war, or what would be World War III. The Cuban Missile Crisis

because, like the flip of a switch, their world could be turned upside down. John F. Kennedy and
Nikita Khrushchev were fighting for their beliefs and the safety of their own country. It was once said

causing the most tensions because it was the closest to home the Cold War had gotten and it deeply
impacted the citizens.

How Effective Were the Guerrilla Tactics of the Viet Cong
How effective were the guerrilla tactics of the Viet Cong History

The Viet Cong had many tactics which they used against the US and ARVN troops in the Vietnam

The Viet Cong also thought of backup tactics. These included secure sanctuaries for times when the
war might go badly. These were very effective as when the US troops outnumbered the Viet Cong they
could retreat to a hiding spot to then launch an ambush.
Also the Viet Cong were made up of people from all around South Vietnam. This made it easier for
the Viet Cong to gain trust from people as many of the South Vietnamese people knew at least one
person fighting for the Viet Cong. (Edexcel GCSE, History Controlled Assessment, CA5 Vietnam
1960 75). They were also nice to the South Vietnamese people unlike the US troops. With this
advantage the Viet Cong used the South Vietnamese people as intelligence spies, to gather information
about the enemy US troops without them suspecting a thing. This worked well for the Viet Cong as
the US troops wouldn t be able to recognise any Vietnamese people who were working for the Viet
Cong, which meant that the Viet Cong could keep on finding out crucial information about the enemy
without needing to capture any opposition fighters.
In conclusion, I believe that the guerrilla tactics of the Viet Cong were much superior to those of the
US troops as they were more adapted to the Vietnamese environment whereas the US tactics could not
be put fully into action, and the fact that the Viet Cong knew their environment more compared to the
US was a dominant

A Separate Peace By John Knowles
The war was not only happening in the real world, but also in the Devon School of Prep. The book A
Separate Peace by John Knowles is mostly about a boy, Gene, who is receiving his education and
learning about how to become a soldier to fight in the second World War. He and his best pal, Finny,
are both being forced to mature and grow up before being drafted to fight, but before that even
happens Gene s jealousy gets the best of him which will threaten his friendship. Throughout the novel
John Knowles uses a great deal of literary elements to help add imagery, thrill, and amusement to the
story. Some of the elements include paradoxes, caricature, and theme.
The use of paradoxes in the story created an effect where the characters ... Show more content on

Another way Knowles uses paradoxes in his story is when Phineas tells Gene he s sorry for pulling
him away from school and that Gene is his best pal (John Knowles 41). This proves that even though
their friendship is slowly falling apart Finny still wants things to be okay between them, for example
he hesitates before reinsuring Gene at this teen age period in life the proper person is you best pal. He
hesitated and then added, which is what you are, and there was silence on his dune. (Knowles 41). No
this is not a statement paradox, but it is a paradox because throughout the entire novel Gene believes
Finny is his best pal, yet when Finny tells Gene, Gene becomes flabbergasted and cannot believe so
and after Finny s statement he thinks to himself I should have told him then that he was my best friend
also and rounded off what he had said. I started to; I nearly did. But something held me back. Perhaps
I was stopped by that level of feeling, deeper than thought, which contains the truth, (Knowles 41). He
doesn t believe so because of his jealousy of Finny. His jealousy will become a barrier between the
two boys that will bring them closer together and completely separate them.
Caricature has a great impact throughout the novel. It adds

Basic Financial Statements Under Generally Accepted...
Understanding Basic Financial Statements Companies report their financial activities in four basic
financial statements under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The four basic financial
statements are as listed below: 1. The balance sheet shows in a tabular form, the asset, liability and
owners equity of a company, at a particular time. The assets of a company will always equal to the
sum of liabilities and owners equity, this is called the accounting equation. i.e Asset = liability +
Owners Equity 2. The income statement gives details of executed transactions which contributed
positively or negatively to the owners equity. These transactions can bring about an increase or
reduction in the owners equity. The income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every transaction, because of its financial impact, affects the financial statements of the business.
Financial statements can be prepared after 1, 2, or any number of transactions. Every transaction has
two sides: the giving side and the receiving side The record used to capture events that has financial
impact on each asset, liability, and stockholders equity is called the account. The account is the basic
summary device of accounting. An account is the record of all the changes in a particular asset,
liability, or stockholders equity during a period. Assets can be defined as economic resources owned
or controlled by the firm that deliver a future benefit for a business. They are acquired by the firm as a
result of a past event or transaction. Assets that can be converted to cash within a short term like cash
at hand/bank, inventories, are call short term or current assets. Property, plant and equipment are
categorized as long term asset The following asset accounts are mostly used: Cash, Accounts
Receivable. Notes Receivable, Inventory, Prepaid Expenses. Land, Buildings, Equipment, Furniture,

of liabilities include: Accounts Payable, Notes Payable, and Accrued Liabilities. Liabilities arises from

Load Balancing
Load Balancing in Cellular Network through Cell Breathing network structure being much dispersed,
mobile AbstractIn cellular network, teletraffic continues to grow at a proliferating rate. Thus existing
networks often encounter undesirable phenomenon like call drop due to overloading of cells. To
overcome this problem, this thesis aims to perform load balancing using the technique of cell
breathing in a novel way. Unlike previous works on cell breathing, where the radius of the overloaded
cell was shrunk, this model proposes cell overlap. Here the coverage area of a lightly loaded
neighboring cell who s AP provides optimum power to the concerned clients, is expanded and

III. Objectives In our proposed cell breathing technique, the mobile switching centre (MSC)
performs the pre calculation as outlined: Before assigning a call to the base station or access point
(AP) of a cell, the MSC will check if the capacity of the cell is exceeded, i.e if it is getting overloaded.
In case of overloading, the received power of the client (to whom the call is directed) decreases below
the threshold. As such, the MSC searches which neighboring AP transmits optimum power to this
client and has free load i.e. its current load is less than its maximum capacity. Once such an AP is
found, its coverage area is expanded to serve the client of the neighboring AP and MSC assigns the
client to this new AP. Thus the overloading call is not dropped and the grade of service is improved.
Unlike previous works on cell breathing, where the radius of the

Importance Of Internet And Online Marketing
Section 2 Literature review
The purpose of literature review is to find what literature has to offer on how retailers in New Zealand
and Australia use internet and online marketing to do business, and the barriers they face in doing so.
It would also look into the way retailers retain their customers.
2.1 Importance of internet and online marketing to business
Before one proceeds to explore the importance of internet and online marketing to business, it is
important to understand how well New Zealand is connected with internet. New Zealand is in a very
comfortable position to benefit from internet use. The physical internet infrastructure is growing and
Government s ultra fast broadband and rural broadband programmes have made sure that high speed
internet is available throughout the country. This could potentially lead New Zealand to have the best
network infrastructure in the world, as evidenced by the use of internet by businesses throughout the
country (Adams, 2013). Ninety six percent (96%) of firms are connected with internet. The economic
performances of these firms depend on how well they use it. Apart from the availability of internet, it
is vital to note the way businesses use internet by to improve the way they do business. Most of the
businesses in New Zealand do not use internet to its full potential, as proved from the World Wide
Web Foundation (2012) ranking. New Zealand is ranked 17th in the world for its ability to extract

John Milton Cage Influence On Society
The classical period was a revolutionary start of music for decades to come. Many composers prior to
the 1920s gained their fame and fortune through music and their creativity in composing. John Milton

Sr., an inventor, hence the creativeness yet to come through his music. In 1928, Cage graduated from
Los Angles High School with the intent to pursue a degree in writing. Cage studied about two years at

The Tenant Of Tenants And Landlords
As it often happens, there may come a time when a manager of an apartment building (landlord) and a
tenant argument rises up. These arguments can pop up over many different issues including lease
agreement rights, responsibility for repairs to the property, rent, evictions, and more. It is unfortunate
that not all tenants and landlord s arguments can be settled by a simple conversation between both
parties to the lease. While many people in the U.S. are homeowners a great many other people live as
tenants in different types of rental residences. Even though tenants don t actually own their rental
residences they do receive certain rights almost the same in some ways to ownership rights. Tenants of
rental residences and their landlords also have responsibilities to each other, including residence
repairs. Depending on the situation/event, a tenant or a landlord may be responsible for making repairs
to the tenant s rental residence.
Knowledge of state law is extremely important to both tenants and landlords. Managers of apartment
buildings want to run a money making business and protect their investment. Tenants want to be
happy in their rental homes and protect their rights. At the end of the day, managers of apartment
buildings and people who occupy those rooms want to avoid legal hassles when it comes to rent,
deposits, repairs, and other key issues. Let s take a look at Larry s and Roger s situation and figure out
the best course of actions from both points of view.

What Is The Similarities Between Old Major And Lenin
Of the many things that can be compared between Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution, one of
the most significant similarities is characters. One of the many allegories is Old Major and Vladimir
Lenin. Vladimir Lenin was born on April 10th, 1870. He was born into a wealthy family and early in
his life, his brother was executed for trying to kill Czar Alexander the 3rd in a bombing plot. This
event eventually led him to becoming a Marxist. One of the main things that Lenin is known for is
being one of the founding fathers of Communism and for being the leader of the Bolshevik Party. The
Bolshevik Party was established during the Russian Revolution to overtake the Provisional
Government because of their inability to keep up with their commitments to the Russian citizens.

These situations are very similar being that both figures had attempted shots fired at them while or
shortly after giving a message to their people. The last resemblance between Old Major and Lenin is
that they both had either part or all of their body preserved after death. In Animal Farm, Old Major s
skull was put on display and the animals on the farm had to pass by it daily. The skull of old Major,
now clean of flesh, had been disinterred from the orchard and set up on a stump at the foot of the
flagstaff, beside the gun. After the hoisting of the flag, the animals were required to file past the skull
in a reverent manner before entering the barn (Orwell Another parallel between Animal Farm and the

I. Research Question or Problem
The journal article question is clearly stated. The question asks whether the behaviourist, the
psychoanalytic, the cognitive, or the neuroscientific perspective is most intellectually significant and
most prominent in psychology today (Robins, Goling, amp; Craik, 1999, p. 117).
II. Introduction
The introduction presents differing contentions regarding which school of psychology is most
prominent. Five references have been cited in the introduction. It is ... Show more content on

Articles regarding the psychoanalytic and neuroscientific perspective, however, were essentially non
existent throughout the studied period. Authors provided graphs and tables in order to demonstrate
their findings over time for each index (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.121 126).
V. Discussion/Conclusions
Due to their compelling findings, the authors were able to construct several conclusions. Firstly,
psychoanalytic journals, dissertations, and flagship articles have not been in the spotlight of
mainstream psychology for the past several decades (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.123, 124).
Secondly, with the focus currently on cognitive psychology, behavioural psychology has and
continues to subside in scientific psychology (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.124). Moreover,
the authors state that one reason cognitive psychology is transcending behavioural psychology is due
to the immeasurable role of computers in modern society. For example, thanks to computers,
considerable changes have taken place in regards to scientists understanding of memory, information
processing, etc (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.124). Lastly, mainstream psychology does not
yet recognize neuropsychology; however, there is an obvious increase in popularity that is underway.
Authors recommend further research to explore the growing prominence

The Wind Of The Willows, By Kenneth Grahame
Journeys provoke travellers, that may ultimately lead to transformation of self and leave the traveller
far richer for the experience
In both The Wind in the Willows, and Journey to the Interior, the idea that journeys may provoke
travellers and ultimately lead to transformation of self and richer experiences, is clearly exhibited
within. Depending on an entity s current perspective, they may either embody provocative views, such
as the Rat in the Wind in the Willows and also the persona in Journey to the Interior, or even have an
accepting perspective to journey, such as the character of Toad. Through the use of tone, symbolism
and also truncated sentences, the quote is partially accurate in The Wind in the Willows, but

Ultimately, because of the nature of the character of Rat, it is clear that this individual despises and
fears the idea of journey, showcasing how an entity s current perspective, can impede on their view
on, and appreciation of journey.
Moreover, in The Wind in the Willows, the idea that journey can lead to transformation of self, and
rich experiences is exhibited in Toad s ecstatic perception of journey. In this extract of the novel, Toad
believes that adventure is the only means of fulfilling and experiencing a real animalistic life; That s
real life for you, embodied in that little cart . The cart is symbolic of Toad s ambitious nature, which is
manifested through his jubilant tone and positive attitude in response to change and adventure. This
optimistic view on journey proves that transformation of self and rich experiences is attained by
undertaking journey. Toad illustrates an image of journey as being something life changing; Travel,
change, interest, excitement! The whole world before you and a horizon that s always changing . The
cumulative listing of the intangible rewards associated with journey, emphasizes how adventure can
lead to richer experiences . Additionally the metaphoric phrase of the changing horizon represents
Toad s intention of adventure and acceptance of and fearfulness of change. Subsequently, because of
Toad s optimistic and accepting perspective on journey, the quote is

Protestant Reformation And Moral Decay Of The Catholic Church
The Catholic Church, while being the oldest institution in the western world, was also at one point one
of the most corrupt and immoral institutes of the time. The early sixteenth century was an age of
culture and art, with the Renaissance in full swing and countries such as Spain and Portugal exploring
the world s seas and finding new trade routes. However, the Protestant Reformation was a major blow
to the power of the Church and papacy. This reformation occurred due to the institutional and moral
decay of the Catholic Church through problems such as the extremely controversial Pope Alexander
VI, priestly greed, depravity in the clergy, and a universal fear of the power that the current reigning
pope held. This all led to many individuals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The level of depravity in the clergy was also astounding, from inappropriate behavior to lust, the
clergy did not have the same values as they once had when the church was created. This of course led
to most of the common people to question what kind of an institution they were supporting and if
these people were truly following gods word or simply claiming to. By far one of the greatest leading
causes of institutional decay in the Catholic church was due the reigning pope of the time: [...] a
derivative of the universal belief that whoever wore the tiara could, at his pleasure, determine how
each individual would spend his afterlife (92). This led to a type of fear mongering in which the
average person would have an extreme fear of the power that the pope held and therefore never
question the papacy. This of course led to depravity working its way into the church because no one
would ever dare speak against the church and point out the corruptness occurring. Similarly: The
pope, he said, had more power than all the apostles, all the angels and saints, more even than the
Virgin Mary herself, for these were all subjects of Christ, but the Pope was equal to Christ

Mandatory Retirement Essay examples
Mandatory retirement is perhaps a necessary evil; as older employees are forced out of the work force,
it creates space for new, younger employees. Mandatory retirement is a form of age discrimination, it
forces a person to retire because they are a certain age; it does not take into account if that person
wants to retire. It also does not take into account the financial standing of the individual, or if they are
physically or mentally still capable of doing the job.
Although mandatory retirement is not largely popular, it still has an effect on many older workers and
how they plan for retirement. Mandatory retirement involves less than 1 percent of the work force and
so opens up only a small fraction of the total jobs , because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

From 1970 to the year 2000, the world s over 60 population is projected to increase by more than 90
percent . This is an astonishing number, seeming how the total population was predicted to grow by
less than 75 percent . The most prominent feature of the looming shift in the composition of the
working age population is, of course, its increasing age . It is hard to say what will happen when
suddenly there will be an abundance of older people who are preparing to retire.
The increase in life expectancy is partially to blame for the increase in elderly citizens, as there are
now better medicines and medical procedures to cure ailments which could have easily killed a person
10 or 20 years ago. As Levine said, There are more elderly and a larger proportion of elderly in the
population now than ever before in the history of the world, and individuals live longer and have a
longer span of healthy, vigorous life than ever before . We have to prepare, not only to have more aged
people in the work force, but also to have adequate pensions and supplements to aid these people
when they do retire.
Elderly people are often stereotyped as forgetful, weak, or unable to take care of themselves; keeping
this in mind, how can you logically hire an elderly person to do a job that a young, more physically fit
employee could undoubtedly perform with less risk and effort. Stereotypes such as these are playing a
huge role in the controversy over mandatory retirement. Morgan

Ancient China And The Last Pharaoh Of Egypt Cleopatra

Causes Of The Louisiana Purchase
In the eyes of several, the Louisiana Purchase may well be recognized as one of the all time greatest
real estate deal. As Paul Leicester stated in his work of The Works of Thomas Jefferson Jefferson at
the stroke of a pen essentially doubled the territorial extent of the United States. On April 30, 1803,
U.S. representatives located in Paris approved to purchase 828,000 square miles at the very cost
efficient amount of fifteen million dollars that spread from the Mississippi River to the Rocky
Mountains, and from the Gulf of Mexico all the way north to Canada. To better realize how
inexpensive the United States purchased that land for was about eighteen dollars and some change per
square mile. Soon enough, the newly purchased land of western territory became six states and
portions of nine present day states. As one could imagine this great purchase did not happen without a
buildup of time, and without many factors leading up to the Louisiana Purchase. Below are a couple of
factors such as the Spanish control of New Orleans and Napoleon s burning desire for the Caribbean
Island of Haiti. To begin, the borders of this territory was made up of the east side of the Mississippi
River, the Gulf of Mexico on the south, the Rocky Mountains on the west and Canada along the
northern border. Originally, France claimed this territory, then Spain was granted this territory in 1763
in the Treaty of Paris, due to their backing of the French in the war. At the time, the French thought

Personal Legend InThe Alchemist, By Paulo Coehlo
To achieve one s Personal Legend, one must work hard to accomplish it. This is not an easy task to do,
especially when you are a young shepherd boy. The Alchemist is a novel written by Paulo Coehlo. The
main character is a boy, Santiago, which seeks out his Personal Legend and the alchemist helps him
discover himself along the way. In the novel, Coelho uses symbols, character development, and setting
to create a deeper meaning. Santiago does not use his own motivation to pursue his Personal Legend,
but it is through the efforts of others that his Personal Legend is fulfilled.
In the novel, Coelho uses symbols of love, Urim, and Thummim, and sheep to create meaning and
emotion in the novel. Coelho uses the symbol of love, or Fatima to show her efforts in Santiago s
Personal Legend. My father went away one day, but he returned to my mother, and he has always
come back since then. (Coelho, 122). Santiago has a decision to make: stay in the oasis, or go to the
pyramids. Fatima tells him to go find his treasure and assures him she will be waiting. Coelho
demonstrates through Fatima Santiago s great love for her, which becomes a motivational factor to
return to when Santiago is on his journey. Without the help of Fatima, he would have stayed in the
oasis. Coelho uses Urim and Thummim to model Santiago s benightedness and ignorance. I promised
that I would make my own decisions, (Coelho, 41). Santiago is given a gift of Urim and Thummim,

Ralph Waldo Emerson Rhetorical Analysis Essay
The attitude of the narrator in the prose passage by Ralph Waldo Emerson towards nature is that of
pure admiration. He is very found of nature and appreciates its ethereal beauty. Emerson makes use of
the literary devices of metaphor, symbolism and personification to help readers understand this
admiration.
One example of a metaphor Emerson uses is when he states that nature never wears a mean
appearance (Emerson). This line is an oxymoron. Since nature is, in fact, violent, and ruthless. With
natural disasters that have no regard for the Earth s many inhabitants. After a storm when everything
settles there is a re birth. All of the plants and animals come back with an exuberance to start over.
This may really appeal to the audience because most have witnessed the destructive power of nature,
but have been able to come back stronger and with a new lease on life.
The sun envelops everything in a warm blanket of rays, healing everything it touches. The sun is a
powerful star and man fails to see its sheer beauty. Children see the sun for what it does to, spark
imagination and hope. The next example of Emerson s effective use of metaphor is when Emerson ...

with this line is that believing in something whatever that may be can provide someone with

Emerson uses to convey his relationship with nature, would be when he describes himself as being a
transparent eyeball; being able to see everything. There is no filter with what he is seeing. The narrator
portrays himself as a divine being that has the energy of the Earth running through his veins,

Exploring Characters in A Good Man is Hard to Find
Flannery O Connor once said of her writing, All my stories are about the action of grace on a character
that is not very willing to support it, but most people think of these stories as hard, hopeless and
brutal. This statement is especially true when matched with O Connor s A Good Man is Hard to Find,
in which character plays such an essential role within the story. Through her characters, particularly
the Grandmother and the Misfit, O Conner manages to inject many elements; the characters embody
symbols and themes such as O Brien s message of Christianity.

In many ways, Bailey becomes more of a tangible character later when he is led off and shot; in his
absence, we are shown that the Grandmother does indeed love him as she desperately calls out Bailey

She is condescending to her grandchildren as well, but in a more direct matter. There is humor to be
found in their interactions, because she often reprimands them, but they have feelings of superiority to
her. Her granddaughter, June Star, mirrors her Grandmother in certain manners she too is rude and
annoying but not it the same passive manner. June Star s brother John Wesley is depicted as relatively
ordinary; his main function in the story is his eagerness to see the house that leads to the family s
death, but like his sister he also provides quite a bit of humor.
The Grandmother s superiority reaches far beyond her family. She reveals a racist and ignorant nature

They brought about the renewal of rock and roll, starting in Liverpool, England.
John Lennon (10/9/40 12/8/80), led the Beatles as the lead singer and songwriter. Also writing the
songs for the Beatles was Paul McCartney (6/18/42 present). George Harrison (2/25/43 present) added
to the sounds of the Beatles.
In 1962, Ringo Starr (7/7/40 present) became the drummer for the band. They were now known as
The Beatles, (the Fab Four).
Their first song Love Me Do was recorded in 1962, after Ringo joined the band. In 1964, the Beatles
invaded the United States, by bringing their music here and driving the crowds wild. The Beatles
bridged the generation gap and language barriers. They were trend setters, with their style of dress and
hair changing the face of the young people. They also influenced the use of hallucinogenic drugs,
Indian music, and Eastern mysticism.
The Beatles last concert was in San Francisco in 1966. The band broke up in 1970. Lennon went on to
record solo albums and with his wife, Yoko Ono.
McCartney went on to form Paul McCartney and Wings, with his wife, Linda.
Harrison and Starr also went on to do solo albums. Ringo also starred in some films. Rumors of a
reunion were believed until the murder of John Lennon in
1980.

Shameful Cry Of Gold Research Paper
On January 24, 1848, under 10 days before the marking of the peace arrangement finishing the
Mexican War, James W. Marshall, a 36 year old craftsman and jack of all trades, saw a few splendid
bits of yellow mineral close to a sawmill that he was working for John A. Sutter, a Swiss conceived
foreigner who claimed one of the colossal farms that spotted California s Sacramento Valley. To test if
the bits were trick s gold, which smashs when struck by a mallet, or gold, which is pliant, Marshall
attempted it between two shakes, and found that it could be beaten into an alternate shape yet not
broken. He told the men working with him: Young men, by God, I trust I have found a gold mine.
On March 15 a San Francisco daily paper, The Californian, printed the principal record of Marshall s
revelation. Inside two weeks, the paper had lost its staff and was compelled to close down its printing
press. In its last version it told its perusers:
The entire nation, from San Francisco to Los Angeles...resounds with the shameful cry of Gold! Gold!
Gold! while the field is left half planted, the house half assembled, and everything dismissed except
the fabricate of picks and scoops. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just half were Americans; the rest originated from Britain, Australia, Germany, France, Latin America,
and China. Units of troopers forsook; mariners escaped; spouses left wives; understudies fled from
their lords; agriculturists and businessmen abandoned their jobs. By July, 1850, mariners had
relinquished 500 ships in San Francisco Bay. Inside a year, California s populace had swollen from
14,000 to 100,000. The number of inhabitants in San Francisco, which remained at 459 in the late
spring of 1847, achieved 20,000 inside a couple of

The Problem Of Population Control
Population control is an idea that has been thrown around world wide for years. One may wonder
what population control would even mean for its partakers. As one researches population control,
many different viewpoints are found. There are the viewpoints of those who are oblivious to the
struggles an economy will be forced to face if population control is not put into effect; then, there are
others who recognize the responsibility they have to care for their country the way it has cared for
them for centuries. Without population control, not only will the economy fail, but there will be world
wide struggles. These struggles seem unfathomable at America s current peak of economic success;
however, soon they will be a reality if one does not take action quickly. By the year 2050, this U.S.
population is expected to increase by 89 million (Kochar). Already at over 316 million people, the
U.S. will be experiencing many major setbacks by the time this growth takes place. Shortages of
water, food, and jobs are just a few of the setbacks Americans will face. If one wishes to produce as
many children as he pleases, he will be doing his children a disservice. Sure, he will have the freedom
of choice, but what will this mean giving up for his other children? Overall, the quality of children s
lives is going to decrease if people are not willing to make a change in their way of thinking. Many
Americans refer to the Bill of Rights when anyone even mentions the possibility of implementing

America Should Pursue Alternative Energy Sources Essay
America Should Pursue Alternative Energy Sources
In todays world the demand for more energy to power peoples electronic filled lives is ever growing.
Nations around the world are looking for ways to supply this much called for energy and are asking
the question should they make the move from traditional energy sources and turn to more renewable
alternatives? American has answered this question and is among the nations pursuing alternative
energy sources. America should pursue alternative energy sources because With only 5 percent of the
worlds population, the United States consumes almost one quarter (22.5%) of global energy . (((Josef
Bram, 15))) With such a small percentage of the world s population and still one of the largest
consumers of energy the U.S should be looking for new and better ways to generate energy. Currently
The U.S s energy is supplied using traditional sources. According to Canadian scientist and policy
analyst Vaclav Smil Todays energy 29% from coal, 33% from oil and gas, and 33% from soft energy
(alternative sources) (((Smil, 47))) Most of the energy we use on a daily basis is not produced using
clean methods. Some alternative energy sources that are already in place within the United Stats are
wind, solar, and hydraulic.
First, wind power is one alternative energy source that America should pursue. Wind power is one of
most noticeable of the main alternatives. The power of wind is captured using tall wind turbines or
windmills. These turbines

The Work of the Magistrates Court and Magistrates Essays
The Work of the Magistrates Court and Magistrates
In the legal system there are many different types of courts. This essay talks about the Magistrates
Courts and the Magistrates themselves. The office of magistrate dates back to the 12th century when
Richard 1 appointed keepers of the peace . They have performed judicial functions since the 13th
century and the term, justice of the peace was being used as far back as 1361. Magistrates were in
charge of the police up until 1839. Paid magistrates have existed since the late 18th century and they
have had to be legally qualified since the mid 19th century, when it was decided they must be
barristers.
Lay magistrates in England and Wales, except in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are five key qualities that are looked for in those applying to be magistrates, these are,
understanding and communication, sound judgement and commitment, maturity and sound
temperament, social awareness and reliability. They must also possess a good character and personal
integrity.
Before applying to become a magistrate you must visit a magistrates court when it is in sitting, at least
once. If an applicant is employed, they must establish with their employer that they will be allowed to
take a reasonable amount of time off work, to undertake the duties of a magistrate.
Magistrates are not professional lawyers, in fact they may have little or no legal knowledge as they
will receive training before and after their appointment. Also a court clerk always sits with the bench
to advise them on relevant aspects of the law.
Three magistrates sit at each case and there is no jury. The three magistrates are referred to as the
bench . One of these magistrates is called the chair and will always speak for the bench. The
magistrates will hear issues on fact and law and then decide the final verdict and sentence.
A magistrate must live in the local area of the court they would like to be considered

  • 2. Choices In A Midsummer Night s Dream Choices are present in every aspect of society, and all humans are forced to make choices throughout their lifetimes. One of those choices that must be made correlates with a theme that resonates throughout all of William Shakespeare s plays. One of his works, A Midsummer Night s Dream, can provoke his readers to significantly ponder on the idea of love. All individuals must decide for themselves how love works. Is it a choice, or unavoidable feelings that can t be explained? It can be debated that in Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, individuals do not have the luxury of being able to choose whom they love. Their hearts simply just love. This play has a rather symbolic way of revealing its author s interpretation of this theme. Every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Separation Surgery On Conjoined Twins I would usually read books like this, but I would like to mention how interesting it was while reading. One of Us has valuable information and stories of conjoined twins, not only in the United States but all around the world. I found it interesting how the author uses medical term and quantitative data to identify the different types of twin and how many are there. I did not know there were so many different types of conjoined twin, and where they are attached or infused. Alice Dreger purpose of this book is analyzing case studies both past and present, along with questions and assumptions about anatomy and normality, and transforms our understanding of how we are all intricately and inextricably joined. She also explored the separation surgery on conjoined twins. Providing historical and contemporary evidence that most adults conjoined twins do not desire to be separated, and that many operations are carried out on children too young, by individualizing them at all cost which may result in a tragic event. Most children born with challenging anatomies have their bodies changed because of what physicians were forcing parents to believe there is no hope fundamentally. One of Us views conjoined twins, as people living with unique anatomies, and considers these issues within the larger historical context of anatomical politics. • 4. Critique Of Hegel s Pure Thoughts freedom. Offering an opposing analysis to Hegel s pure thoughts, Marx a materialist, saw ideas and perceptions as the result of material social, economical and historical conditions. Marx analyzed the basis of all history to understand civil society. Property was at the basis of Marx s argument and how the state developed. In critiquing Hegel, Marx thought reality created the mind. People s ideas and ideologies were conditioned by the historical formation of powers or production and relations to production (Notes, PE 100: 3/17/15). This is the formation of his distinction between the relationship of the economy and politics. He believed the economy consisted of the forces of production; relations of production, and division of labor are the dominating forces in the state. He thought the material base, which is the economy, determined the superstructure , which included culture, ideology, and religion. He placed an importance on the relationship between the base (modes of production) and superstructure because the ruling class controls society s material power as well as its ruling intellectual power (Marx, 163). The role of consciousness played a different angle in Marx s view as he stated, it is not consciousness that determines life, but life that determines consciousness (Marx, 36 37). The formation of consciousness is strongly determined by the class structure of society. In further, the ruling class in society dominates consciousness, who are the bourgeoisie. ... The estrogen in suburban wastewater disrupts frogs reproductive systems, causing them to spawn far more female frogs than male frogs, and in effect threatening the entire species and ecosystem. The study was done by Yale University and compared the proportions of frog sexes between 21 suburban ponds and isolated ponds in southwestern Connecticut. Its findings were published in the latest issue of the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. End of an Era for Male Frogs In the wild, the study found, male frogs outnumber female frogs, accounting for almost 60 percent of the frog population. When plants like clovers occur in unnatural concentrations as they do in the grassy suburbs, phytoestrogen levels in water become high enough to alter the biology of water bound animals. Amphibians are especially susceptible. While the study focused on green frogs as a common North American amphibian species, the same results are predicted for toads, newts, and salamanders. Further studies will investigate whether these phytoestrogens are even affecting the reproduction of birds and mammals. Burn the Clovers! Burn Them All! Well, it s not that simple. Objectives In our proposed cell breathing technique, the mobile switching centre (MSC) performs the pre calculation as outlined: Before assigning a call to the base station or access point (AP) of a cell, the MSC will check if the capacity of the cell is exceeded, i.e if it is getting overloaded. In case of overloading, the received power of the client (to whom the call is directed) decreases below the threshold. As such, the MSC searches which neighboring AP transmits optimum power to this client and has free load i.e. its current load is less than its maximum capacity. Once such an AP is found, its coverage area is expanded to serve the client of the neighboring AP and MSC assigns the client to this new AP. Thus the overloading call is not dropped and the grade of service is improved. Unlike previous works on cell breathing, where the radius of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Similarities Between Old Major And Lenin Of the many things that can be compared between Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution, one of the most significant similarities is characters. One of the many allegories is Old Major and Vladimir Lenin. Vladimir Lenin was born on April 10th, 1870. He was born into a wealthy family and early in his life, his brother was executed for trying to kill Czar Alexander the 3rd in a bombing plot. This event eventually led him to becoming a Marxist. One of the main things that Lenin is known for is being one of the founding fathers of Communism and for being the leader of the Bolshevik Party. The skull of old Major, now clean of flesh, had been disinterred from the orchard and set up on a stump at the foot of the flagstaff, beside the gun. After the hoisting of the flag, the animals were required to file past the skull in a reverent manner before entering the barn (Orwell Another parallel between Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution is Napolean to Joseph Stalin. Authors provided graphs and tables in order to demonstrate their findings over time for each index (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.121 126). V. Discussion/Conclusions Due to their compelling findings, the authors were able to construct several conclusions. Firstly, psychoanalytic journals, dissertations, and flagship articles have not been in the spotlight of mainstream psychology for the past several decades (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.123, 124). Secondly, with the focus currently on cognitive psychology, behavioural psychology has and continues to subside in scientific psychology (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.124). Moreover, the authors state that one reason cognitive psychology is transcending behavioural psychology is due to the immeasurable role of computers in modern society. For example, thanks to computers, considerable changes have taken place in regards to scientists understanding of memory, information processing, etc (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.124). Lastly, mainstream psychology does not yet recognize neuropsychology; however, there is an obvious increase in popularity that is underway. Protestant Reformation And Moral Decay Of The Catholic Church The Catholic Church, while being the oldest institution in the western world, was also at one point one of the most corrupt and immoral institutes of the time. The early sixteenth century was an age of culture and art, with the Renaissance in full swing and countries such as Spain and Portugal exploring the world s seas and finding new trade routes. However, the Protestant Reformation was a major blow to the power of the Church and papacy. This reformation occurred due to the institutional and moral decay of the Catholic Church through problems such as the extremely controversial Pope Alexander VI, priestly greed, depravity in the clergy, and a universal fear of the power that the current reigning pope held. The level of depravity in the clergy was also astounding, from inappropriate behavior to lust, the clergy did not have the same values as they once had when the church was created. This of course led to most of the common people to question what kind of an institution they were supporting and if these people were truly following gods word or simply claiming to. By far one of the greatest leading causes of institutional decay in the Catholic church was due the reigning pope of the time: [...] a derivative of the universal belief that whoever wore the tiara could, at his pleasure, determine how each individual would spend his afterlife (92). This led to a type of fear mongering in which the average person would have an extreme fear of the power that the pope held and therefore never question the papacy. This of course led to depravity working its way into the church because no one would ever dare speak against the church and point out the corruptness occurring. Similarly: The pope, he said, had more power than all the apostles, all the angels and saints, more even than the Virgin Mary herself, for these were all subjects of Christ, but the Pope was equal to Christ ... Mandatory retirement is a form of age discrimination, it forces a person to retire because they are a certain age; it does not take into account if that person wants to retire. It also does not take into account the financial standing of the individual, or if they are physically or mentally still capable of doing the job. Although mandatory retirement is not largely popular, it still has an effect on many older workers and how they plan for retirement. From 1970 to the year 2000, the world s over 60 population is projected to increase by more than 90 percent . This is an astonishing number, seeming how the total population was predicted to grow by less than 75 percent . The most prominent feature of the looming shift in the composition of the working age population is, of course, its increasing age . It is hard to say what will happen when suddenly there will be an abundance of older people who are preparing to retire. The increase in life expectancy is partially to blame for the increase in elderly citizens, as there are now better medicines and medical procedures to cure ailments which could have easily killed a person 10 or 20 years ago. As Levine said, There are more elderly and a larger proportion of elderly in the population now than ever before in the history of the world, and individuals live longer and have a longer span of healthy, vigorous life than ever before . We have to prepare, not only to have more aged people in the work force, but also to have adequate pensions and supplements to aid these people when they do retire. Elderly people are often stereotyped as forgetful, weak, or unable to take care of themselves; keeping this in mind, how can you logically hire an elderly person to do a job that a young, more physically fit employee could undoubtedly perform with less risk and effort. Stereotypes such as these are playing a huge role in the controversy over mandatory retirement. Morgan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Paul Leicester stated in his work of The Works of Thomas Jefferson Jefferson at the stroke of a pen essentially doubled the territorial extent of the United States. On April 30, 1803, U.S. representatives located in Paris approved to purchase 828,000 square miles at the very cost efficient amount of fifteen million dollars that spread from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains, and from the Gulf of Mexico all the way north to Canada. To better realize how inexpensive the United States purchased that land for was about eighteen dollars and some change per square mile. Soon enough, the newly purchased land of western territory became six states and portions of nine present day states. As one could imagine this great purchase did not happen without a buildup of time, and without many factors leading up to the Louisiana Purchase. Below are a couple of factors such as the Spanish control of New Orleans and Napoleon s burning desire for the Caribbean Island of Haiti. To begin, the borders of this territory was made up of the east side of the Mississippi River, the Gulf of Mexico on the south, the Rocky Mountains on the west and Canada along the northern border. Originally, France claimed this territory, then Spain was granted this territory in 1763 in the Treaty of Paris, due to their backing of the French in the war. At the time, the French thought ... He is very found of nature and appreciates its ethereal beauty. Emerson makes use of the literary devices of metaphor, symbolism and personification to help readers understand this admiration. One example of a metaphor Emerson uses is when he states that nature never wears a mean appearance (Emerson). This line is an oxymoron. Since nature is, in fact, violent, and ruthless.
