1. How To Write A Movie In An Essay
Writing an essay on the intricacies of crafting a cinematic narrative within the confines of an
academic paper presents a unique set of challenges. Firstly, one must navigate the delicate
balance between the technical aspects of film writing and the academic requirements of essay
composition. This requires a deep understanding of both cinematic techniques and the
conventions of scholarly writing.
Addressing the creative aspects of movie writing within the structured format of an essay
demands a creative and analytical mindset. The challenge lies in translating the visual and
auditory elements of a film into a written form that captivates the reader and conveys the essence
of the storytelling process. Balancing subjective interpretation with objective analysis adds
another layer of complexity to the task, as one must not only express personal insights but also
ground them in a theoretical framework.
Furthermore, the essay should delve into the broader context of filmmaking, exploring the
cultural, historical, and social dimensions that contribute to the creation of a movie. This requires
extensive research and the ability to synthesize information from various sources, providing a
comprehensive understanding of the filmic medium.
Organizing thoughts coherently and structuring the essay in a logical sequence can be a daunting
task. The challenge is to guide the reader through the complexities of movie writing, ensuring
that each point flows seamlessly into the next, creating a cohesive and engaging narrative.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of writing a movie involves navigating the
intersection of creativity, technical knowledge, and academic rigor. It requires a unique set of
skills to translate the visual and auditory richness of cinema into the written word, all while
adhering to the conventions of scholarly discourse. Despite its challenges, mastering this skill can
deepen one's appreciation for the art of filmmaking and enhance one's ability to critically analyze
and articulate the complexities of the cinematic medium.

2. Comparison Of Tension Between Great Britain And The...
Tension between Great Britain and The Thirteen Colonies increased as the colonies
desired their independence from the British control. In April of 1775, the British
soldiers and locals confrontation in Lexington and Concord turned into being the
spark of the war. Most of the Colonists split into the Loyalists and Patriots, but others
did not want a say in the matter or to choose sides. The Revolutionary War started in
1775 and ended in 1783. Colonists were directed to supply the British troops with
their basic needs, including housing, due to the Quartering Act of 1765. The British
would take homes, livestock, and anything that they could use to their advantage. By
the following year the war was in full motion. The Continental Army was formed,...

The French navy closed off the waterways, including the Chesapeake Bay and York
River, to keep British ships from entering. They surrounded Yorktown, Virginia,
cutting off all of the British s incoming supplies. General Cornwallis had no other
choice than to surrender. In 1783, the Treaty of Paris was signed. This officially
ended the Revolutionary War and set the boundaries of America. America s
boundaries were the same as now north, south, and east wise, but it only went as
far west to the Mississippi River. America was now free from the British control.
The Film: The Patriot was set in 1776 in the colony of South Carolina. Benjamin
Martin was a veteran of the French and Indian War, and since then he had been
against fighting until the war began to affect his family. The first portion of the
movie shows how Benjamin tries to protect his seven children and shield them from
the war. However, when his eldest son joins the army he is forced to be involved.
Benjamin leads a militia against the cruel British army to fight for America s
independence. He regains his patriotism when he realizes that helping his struggling
nation will help his family.
3. Climate Change in Time
Climate change is when there are different measures of climate during a period of
time. It includes, big changes in the weather regarding temperature, wind patterns and
more that occur over several years. (EPA, 2014)
The term sometimes is applicable to climate change caused by human activity, as
opposed to changes in climate that were a result of the natural processes of the Earth.
The words Climate change now has the same meaning as anthropogenic global
warming. (Conway, 2008)
Observed Changes in the Climate System
When the climate system was reviewed and looked at, it showed that warming of the
climate system is absolute and since the 1950 s, many of the observations that were
made show that changes are unusual over decades. (Seattlepi Weather, 2014)
Atmosphere:
The Earth s surface has been continuously getting warmer over the last three
decades. This period of time was warmer than any previous decade since 1850. In
the Northern Hemisphere, the period between the 1830s and 2012 was the warmest
30 year period of the last 1400 years.
Ocean:
The increase in energy, stored in the climate system is effected and dominated
because the ocean is getting warmer. It accounts for more than 90% of the energy
stored between 1971 and 2010. Researchers and practitioners are practically certain
that the upper ocean (0в€’700 m) warmed from 1971 to 2010, and it probably
warmed between the 1870s and 1971. (Department of Environmental Conservation,

The Property Council of Australia has also indicated that Grade B commercial
property is experiencing an increased vacancy rating, the secondary market of
office property in Brisbane rising to 23% vacancy in 2016. In response to this, there
has been a push from the City and Property councils to adapt such buildings into
residential apartments, student accommodation, retirement living and hotels.
Brisbane s 41 George Street office tower is a key example of a piece of Brisbane s
Post War heritage with current potential for adaptive re use projects, with speculative
plans to transform the recently sold building s 1,021sqm floor plate into refurbished
offices, a hotel, residential apartments and student accommodation.
The combination of the increased demand for inner city housing against high vacancy
rates for office buildings is providing lucrative development opportunities for adaption
into residential apartments. The forecast for house price growth in 2016 was 17% in
Perth, 6% in Adelaide, 6% in Melbourne, 8% in Darwin, 19% in Sydney and 16%
in Brisbane. Developers are looking towards the adaptive reuse of C and D grade
office space across Australia capital cities into residential buildings. The economic
prospects for adaptive reuse as residential apartments across Australian capital cities

7. Artificial Intelligence ( Ai )
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is portrayed in many science fiction films such as I,
robot, The Terminator, Ex Machina, etc., or novels as the future that holds evil in
our society. Engineers all over the world are currently developing and making AI a
reality. I know that my major is involved with the project intending to bring AI into
reality which is interesting, but it still has me wondering if this is a good idea. I
imagine AI as the future such that we will have them at school, in our house and
even our workplace. It is a possibility that AI will be used to help students and
professors by solving critical equations faster than ever or helping them out in the
subjects they are struggling with. They can help clean around the house and
neighborhood, implement future ideas to companies, and even join the police force
to stop crime. They do not necessarily need arms, legs, or eyes to commit such
actions. As a Computer Engineer, I believe that AI will have the capability to protect
and serve us, but if they are given the freedom to think and act, then they can also
harm us. I assume the engineers working with AI, will program them to restrict
actions that can harm this society and inspect them weekly to accomplish this
restriction. We should keep an open mind towards any consequences and benefits AI
may bring to this world. I can see drones roaming around freely while having the task
to protect us, android devices advising and having a normal conversation with a
person, and

Death with honor/ Is better than life/ Life with dishonor (17). Gallimard is
translating for Song in this passage. Song being Oriental, this line would be
expected and wouldn t cause much of a point, but when Gallimard states it again
in the end of the play on page 68 and it causes much more feeling out of the
audience. Why is that? Gallimard is French and not Chinese. Those kinds of
words aren t stereotypical of a French man, which is normally not known as the
concerns of a Caucasian male, but rather an Oriental male. The aspects of
Orientalism are not solely focused on the West s views of the East, but can also be
the other way around. Her mouth says no, but her eyes say yes. The West thinks of

delicate, poor, but good at art, and full of inscrutable wisdom the feminine

deep down, wants to be dominated because a woman can t think for herself (62).
That quote was said by Song after he officially reveals to the court that he was a
man, but before he officially revealed it to Gallimard. This quote is important
because it gives an impression of what the East sees the West as and what they
realized they re thought of. Song compares himself to a woman, despite the fact that
he dressed as one for twenty years, because

chances to get the penalty and how we can take our decisions efficiently without
losing our budget amount. Thus, there are no perfect rules for how to win a
simulation game, it just requires the efficient and mind boggling decision making.
So the best way is to analyze is take on the performance in all the previous periods
before taking decisions for the current period. I learned a lot from the Sim4 Project
simulation game. The best part for this game was that everyone in class was playing
against each other and not with the artificial intelligence, which helped in creating the
environment for students, where they can actually apply their strategies by bidding
for different resources. This game taught us how to run a project and how to handle a
company, but we have to work ourselves in applying strategies, thus the best strategy
to win the simulation game is giving your best shot by thinking smartly. Besides that
going through the game, I learned other different

14. Confucianism In Ancient China
In China, the Chinese philosopher Confucius brought about the teachings of
Confucianism. These teachings led to the main virtues of Chinese culture.
Confucianism continued its path of improvement through the years; allowing certain
aspects of Chinese culture, to extend to other regions, such as Korea, Vietnam, and
Japan.
The beginning of Confucianism started in 5th 6th century B.C. by Confucius, or Kung
Fu. Confucianism is the philosophical and ethical teachings, introduced to Chinese
culture/religion. This philosophy strained the ideals of the perfection of man,
improving one s self, having a strong education, and the practice of rituals. It deals
mainly with the moral conduct and ethical living, and is often associated with an
ethical/moral system, than an actual religion.
The importance of Confucianism influenced China and its culture. The philosophy
created the ideal person of society a gentleman. This created the proper behavior

16. Language Does Not Empower Women
Additionally, the ineffectiveness of Perdita s rhetoric furthers Shakespeare s claim
that language does not empower women in the lower class shepherd s court. For
example, during Perdita and Polixenes discussion of flowers, Perdita s language is
unable to persuade Polixenes to agree with her opinions. Perdita states that she
[cares] not/ To get slips of carnations and gillyvors because they are nature s bastards
and are not natural. She continues by asserting that There is an art which in their
piedness shares/ With great creating nature, explaining her beliefthat because the
flowers are made through crossbreeding, they are unnatural and therefore their beauty
is artificial since it is owed equally to nature and the gardener that bred them (IV.4.82
89). However, Polixenes is unconvinced by this claim and instead states that although
nature is made better by no mean, all means of attempting to improve nature must
themselves be natural. Therefore, Polixenes believes, the apparently artificial quality
of crossbred flowers is an art/ That nature makes and thus art itself is nature (IV.4.89
97). Perdita has no response to Polixenes view and yields to his argument. This
conversation demonstrates that Perdita s rhetoricin the court of the shepherd is
largely unsuccessful and does not empower her or further her opinions in the same
manner as the language of Paulina and Hermione does. Overall, Shakespeare conveys
his claim that Perdita s powerand influence in the

18. Batman And Beowulf Comparison
In the last 50 years, countless heroes have been created or shown through film. One
of the most interesting, modern, fictional heroes that we have seen is the Batman
played by Christian Bale, otherwise known as the Dark Knight in the Dark Knight
series. Even after more than a thousand years since the creation of the epic poem
Beowulf, similar characteristics of the character Beowulf are still seen in fictional
heroes such as Batman. Although on the surface Beowulf and Batman seem very
different, many of their basic characteristics are very similar including their
motivation, the people that doubted them, their love for their homeland, and the
personal sacrifices that they made for the greater good. This juxtaposition is proof
that humans throughout history have gone through the same thought process when
creating their heroes.
One of the many similarities between Batman and Beowulf is their origins. Batman

In Batman this is more true than in Beowulf, but nonetheless, the archetype remains
strong in both stories. In Beowulf, only one person, a man named Unferth, seems to
truly doubt the hero when he questions his past successes. This dubious man is
soon silenced by a simple conversation where Beowulf proves him wrong. This
aspect of both heroes definitely seems to be more complicated with Batman.
Instead of only one or a few people expressing serious doubt in Batman s ability, it
is almost the entire city that expresses concern. Batman only has a few people that
believe in him including Commissioner Gordon, Batman s butler Alfred, and a few
citizens of Gotham. Despite their differences, Batman and Beowulf both contain one
of the key elements in a hero s story; people who try to pull them down, and the
people who express nothing but
19. Informative Essay On Wine
Everyone has bought up some fantastic points. Many years ago when I started my
education on wine (still learning) one of my mentors said something that I will
never forget. Wine is a living biosphere that has certain needs to survive and
develop over time. That said, wines need many things to develop and provide the
extra layers of complexity that we are all after. There has been many technological
advancements to help screen corks for TCA to lower the impacts in wines. Truth
is, cork may be the primary source of TCA but it is definitely not the only one. A few
wineries have been impacted by TCA independent of cork. When I first saw screw
caps I was curious what the effect would be on wines that have been cellared for 10
years plus.
20. An Buyer Owner Of The Land
Heidi
Heidi does not have a legal interest in Whitegates as Alex is the sole owner of the
land. What must be established is whether she has an equitable interest in Whitegates
that will bind the purchaser Molly.
The express creation of a trust is not the only method to create a trust. Trusts can be
created by the action of the landowner or by third parties. Heidi acquires an
equitable interest in the land under implied trust due to the deposit she made when
Alex purchased the property (Williams Glynn Bank v Boland (1981) AC 487).
When this happens no formalities are imposed such as registration of the interest (S.
53(2) Law of property Act 1925).
Having established that Heidi has an equitable interest in the property it must be
determined how this interest affects Molly s purchase of the property.
The Land Registration Act 2002 established three categories of third party interests.
One of these categories covers unregistered interests in land which are capable of
overriding registered dispositions such as the purchase of freehold. Heidi s
circumstance would be relevant to this category as her interest is unregistered.
In order to establish whether Heidi has an overriding interest in the property schedule
three paragraph 2 of the Land Registration Act 2002 must be satisfied.
Firstly there must be interest in the land. Heidi s equitable interest has been
established by her contribution to the purchase of the property.
Secondly, Heidi must be in actual occupation

information will supply a better understanding of what really helps the students to
learn.
Negative cognitive abilities are intensified when corresponding with multitasking. In
the article, How Does Multitasking Change The Way Kids Learn? Proves some of
the reasons why multitasking is corresponded with negative cognitive abilities when
it states, David Meyer, a psychology professor at the University of Michigan who s
studied the effects of divided attention on learning, takes a firm line on the brain s
ability to multitask: Under most conditions, the brain simply cannot do two complex
tasks at the same time. It can happen only when the two tasks are both very simple
and when they don t compete with each other for the same mental resources. It
processes and stores information in less useful ways, when distracted. (Paul 4). This
means when trying to complete many tasks at once, the brain cannot function
correctly in order to do so. Also when the mind is preoccupied it stocks the data in
worthless ways. This proves multitasking causes a negative cognitive ability the brain
cannot achieve, because the brain doesn t store the information in the correct ways;
therefore making them valueless. Multitasking also hinders student s thinking when
switching between tasks. The article How does Multitasking Change The Way Kids
Learn? Contributes to this idea when it states, There is greater difficulty transferring
student s learning to new contents especially when repeatedly dropping and picking
up a mental thread. (Paul 4). This also verifies that switching from one subject to
another allows student s to have trouble when they are constantly letting go and
picking up new information. This way means that student s cannot constantly be
switching

24. Integrated GIS Micro-Watershed Model Development
This study develops an integrated GIS micro watershed model to support decision
making for community planning. Clean drinking water is a scare natural resource
for people living in villages in rural eastern Uganda. When clean water is available
it reduces mortality rates to water born and water related diseases including
cholera, diarrhoea and malaria (UNDP UNEP Poverty Environment Initiative,
2004). Unfortunately, a safe water supply is not always available to a community.
This study will run a risk assessment to identify locations where existing water
points are susceptible to hazards. Where risks are identified, the study will identify
the ideal locations for future clean water wells and other community life facilities.
The purpose of this research is to create a model with low data requirements that
can be used to improve community planning in almost any context, especially data
deficient areas. This research builds upon the research of legacy GIS watershed
models. In the 1980s GIS models began to be applied to watershed studies. But
these models were designed for data rich areas and as a result have high data
requirements. The inputs and criteria for the water point site suitability analysis will
be: proximity to water, water flow, land use, landslide risk zoning, and proximity to
community health and education facilities. The methodology used in this study will
be built upon two standard operating GIS watershed models: the Soil and Water
Assessment (SWAT) system

26. The Quality Of Drinking Water
The Quality of Drinking Water and its Impact on Human Health
There are only few things that tie us directly to the natural environment; one such
thing is the water that we drink daily. Water is one of the most valuable natural
resources and we cannot live without it. I personally never thought much of the
importance of water in our daily life, till about a three years ago when my mother
was diagnosed with final stage of colon cancer. My father, a nature lover all his
life, through out every trip made to Romania, would literally drag me out of the
house in the early morning hours and have me go with him in a nearby forest to get
spring water. He believed that this infinite spring water source was the cure for my
mother disease. Therefore, when I needed to choose a topic for my research, the
quality of drinking water and its impact on human health is what came to mind.
Simply because I felt it is something we all seem to overlook, even though every
day we are all dependent on the daily water intake and we do require its need of
purity, free of any contaminants, for a good hydration and health.
Because water is of great significance and since it is used for drinking and in
preparing our daily food; I began to realize that in today s world with all the
environmental changes, there are a lot unanswered questions about the type of water
that we drink. The dilemma lies between: tap water, bottled water or filtered water;
and the question are: which one to choose? And how is one
27. Slums
Slums
Introduction
A Slum refers to informal settlements within urban areas or cities. The informal
settlements depict inadequate housing and miserable condition with reference to
living standards (Meade p 43). In the slums, numerous individuals seek housing
facilities within small living spaces. The slums also lack basic local authority
services such as sanitation, collection of waste, water, drainage systems, street
lighting, and emergency roads. Most slums also lack schools, hospital, and public
places that might offer adequate environment for social amenities. The experience of
France illustrates the essence of slums within the modern society (Oberti p 58).
Crime and unemployment are on the rise within the slums because of the poor ...

Relocation of the residents expresses elements of high economic and social costs with
reference to disruptions. The main beneficial aspect of slum upgrading is that the
citizens enjoy fundamental right to live under decent conditions. Slums upgrading
enables the city to address crucial challenges such as legality and social protection.
The act is also essential in encouraging the development of the economy. This is in
relation to minimization of the unemployment elements within the urban areas.
Upgrading of the slums is also noteworthy in relation to the achievement of quality
life. Slum upgrading also aims at reducing the level of criminal activities and
unemployment from the economy. The governments need to restructure and change
social paradigms in order to maximize the outcome of slum upgrading.
Conclusion
Slums are hindrance to the achievement of economic growth and development. It is
the duty of the government to plan effectively towards the achievement of quality life
within the cities. Slums contribute towards the presence of criminal activities within
the cities and unemployment hence a significant force towards the overall economic
development. Upgrading of slums is vital in the process of offering economic, social,
institutional, and cultural services to the city dwellers like other citizens.

How to Make a Website Building a website is a great way to share your ideas and
thoughts with the world. But if you have never done one, it can seem discouraging.
The development and design of a basic web page can be a fun yet tricky task.
Whether it s a large commercial web page for business purposes, or a small personal
web page about your hobby or family; the process of development is the same.
Throughout this essay, the website will be centered on using it for business, not just
an informational website. The first step you will have to take before starting if to
choose a domain name. A domain name is the name you want to give to your
website. A good example is the domain name of Google, would be google.com . In
order to obtain a domain name, you must pay an annual fee which gives you the
rights to the name. The cost of this is generally cheap and is around ten dollars. An
important thing to remember is the domain name is not the actual site; it is just
you having the rights to create a site under that name if you please. Since the
domain will be centered on the business, you will want to make the domain name
the same as the name of your company if possible. A few generally accepted
guidelines come along with choosing a name. For business, it would be best to use
YourCompanyName.com , so it will be easy to find. If you want to go more along
the creative route, or the name has already been taken,

The 1920s were prosperous times for Canada and many other countries around the
world. Canadian economy, thanks to its vast storage of natural resources, was striving
to the extent that the 1920s was nicknamed The Roaring 20s . The 1920s era not only
provided Canada with an amazing trade relationship, but also led to the development
of different movements inventions that shook the world and shaped the way we live
today. These impacting events include artwork, social change, women s rights,
prohibition, the Model T car, the radio, silent film, medical advances and the
telephone. Though all these phenomena worked together to make the 20s roar , but in
particular women s rights, medical advances and the telephone made the most
prominent impact on the past and present society.
God had created males and females to be equal, but this principle did not play out
well back in the 1900s. Though women were given some respect due to their
contributions in World War 1, they still were controlled by their dominant male
counterparts. By 1917, most provinces in Canada, with the exception of Quebec
and the maritime provinces, officially allowed women to vote and by 1919,
women were even given the right to be part of the parliament. Though women
could vote and take part in the parliament, only a few of them were elected to
office. Ultimately, society still viewed women to be inferior to men. They served as
helpers in the work force and were rarely allowed to make decisions. They occupied

We first have to define what horizontal integration is? According to Shi and Singh
(2015) is a growth strategy in which a healthcare extends its delivery core product or
service . The way horizontal integration is obtained by is internal development,
acquisition or merger. Organization can be linked horizontally closely, through
ownership or alliances. Horizontal integration mainly focuses on controlling the
distribution of certain type of health services in an area. Some examples of the focus
are multihospital chains, nursing facilities chains or chains of drug stores all under
the same name and management. Diversification of new products or services is not
reaching within horizontal integration Shi Singh (2015).
An example of horizontal integration is the Carolina s Health Care Systems. This
was founded in 1940. It is the nation s leading and most innovative healthcare
organization. They provide a full variety of healthcare and wellness programs
throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. They have more than 900 care

Fantasies and Realities in The Red Badge Of Courage
In The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane the main character, Henry Fleming,
thought he understood the war between the North and the South. However, his
understanding came from his knowledge of fairy tales and mythology (Gibson 21).
Henry thought that he was like the heroes that he read about in these stories. He soon
learned that real war was very different from his imaginative expectations. Crane took
Henry s fantasies and contrasted them with the realities of the war to develop this
main character into a mature person.

Early in the war, rumors and speculations were rampant. Henry and the other
soldiers were happy and confident as they looked forward to their first real

who were experienced and who had access to information concerning the battle
which he did not have. Henry was not aware of how inexperienced he really was and
how limited his viewpoints were.

One of the most common type of cancers around the world is esophageal cancer.
The common risk factors that increase esophageal cancer are the use of tobacco and
alcohol, and gastric reflux. More men than women are affected by esophageal cancer
[7]. The risk of cancer can be reduced by quitting smoking and quitting drinking
alcohol, eating nutritious food, and doing exercise [6,7]. The common treatment
options available for esophageal cancerare chemoradiation, invasive surgery, and
photodynamic therapy. The most effective therapy used in treating all stages of
cancer is chemoradiation, which uses both chemical drugs and intensive radiation.
The research studies on esophageal cancer stated that, Three dimensional conformal
definitive radio(chemo) therapy is well tolerated and leads to long term survival in
more than 20 % of patients with advanced disease and/or contraindication to surgery

36. The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer Essay
The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer Are there many ways that themes and
symbols can be shown in stories? Geoffrey Chaucer uses many different themes,
symbols and styles in writing all of tales in The Canterbury Tales. By using these
things, Geoffrey utilizes several specific symbols to illustrate various central
themes. The characters in the tales make the same mistakes that ordinary people
would make, and they receive the same or even worse consequences. One message
that is portrayed is greed can make people to evil actions. An example of this is in
The Pardoner s Tale, when the three friends wind up killing each other because of

Then all this money will be ours to spend, Divided equally of course, dear friend.
(Page 163 line 166 174) By them both agreeing to this, they believe that they will
have more money to split between the two of them by killing the other one. This is
proof that they are greedy because all three of them found the money and each one
deserves their share of the money. Plus they are all friends with eachother and
should be splitting the money, not trying to stab each other in the back in order for
them to get more money. The next example showing how greed can deceive friends
is portrayed when the friend goes into town. As the other two were plotting a plan,
so was the friend that went to town. However, none of them thought that the other
friend would also be plotting kill them. He slyly says to himself, And so the Fiend,

38. The Unattainable Standards of the Fashion World
Most people think of the fashion industry as a materialistic world of extravagant,
overpriced, un wearable clothing. Where anorexic, and yet extremely beautiful
women use their looks to sell you a product that they themselves probably don t
even like. They think of an industry that sets the most unattainable standards and
lowers the self esteem of young women to zero. They think of it as a world where
everyone is judged and no one will ever be pleased...and in the end none of it even
matters because they re all just clothes, but I do not.
You may be asking yourself, Why is fashionimportant? . Clothes are not just
clothes. They aren t just what you wear. Clothes are personal and intimate. The
clothes you wear send a public message to others about the way you see yourself
(regardless of whether or not you want them to). It s really all about branding. From
the minute you take the hanger off the rack, you are creating an image. Clothes can
even transform you, that shirt you just threw on this morning can give you an
enormous boost of confidence. How powerful is it that a piece of fabric can make
you look and feel differently.
iThere are many in the industry that truly possess great personal style and have
major influence in the fashion world. From the red carpets to street style, these
ladies can do no wrong. One major movie starlet, Jennifer Lawrence, has become
quite the fashionista. What she ll wear next, there s no way to tell, but it ll most

From antiquity, being deaf was looked upon as an undesirable and a culture which
was disconnected with the rest of mainstream society. Often members of the
community found themselves ostracized by members of other cultures, who viewed
them with suspicion, and were thought to be possessed, or in communion, with
undesirable spirits , particularly during the advent of the Christianity that was in
practice during the Middle Ages. During this period, before the advent of Gutenberg

the literate clerics of the day. Thus, the deaf were believed to have no access to Fides

41. Analysis Of David And Goliath By Malcom Gladwell
In David and Goliath written by Malcom Gladwell is based on the unlikely victory
of David, a mere shepherd boy who beats the Giant Goliath with only a sling. What
qualities make David appear as underdog compared towards Goliath. As the reader
we misinterpret the reasons why David appeared victories in his battle against Goliath
when possibility was slim. The growing theme that, the underdogs will always
overcome any obstacle because they appear at a bigger disadvantage point. The
matter of the fact Individual s appearances is not what defines their strengths and
abilities. Most of us would never wish our children to have a learning disability but
as Malcom Gladwell discovers that, children are at a better advantage than their

Children who realized that succeed needs the consist drive of motivation as well
as giant amount of effort are more likely to out shine their peers. Dweck tries to
encourage parents that children must develop a growth mind set instead of fixed
one, to illustrate Dweck explains that growth mind set will create the ability to
adapt to all future situations, The helpless ones believe that intelligence is a fixed
trait: you have only a certain amount, and that s that. I call this a fixed mind set.
Mistakes crack their self confidence because they attribute errors to a lack of
ability, which they feel powerless to change. They avoid challenges because
challenges make mistakes more likely and looking smart less so. Like Jonathan,
such children shun effort in the belief that having to work hard means they are dumb
. As culture we attribute hard work as weakness towards a subject as a flaw. We
create almost artificial intelligence that help crushing failures instead of praising the
hard work that led to success.
We presume in times of hardships will we simply give up but this is not for the
case for some individuals who have personal faced eras of revolutions and wars
pushed through all the chaos just to continue living not only for themselves as well
as for others. As the British were facing the Blitz the government enforce a
42. My Neighborhood Memories Essay
My Neighborhood Memories
I have many memories in my hometown of Buckner, but none of them long enough
to tell a long story about. Buckner is a great little town, we have many great people
here. Small stores with three gas stations and only one stoplight, the grass is more
green than it seems. I moved here in 2005 when I was about 6 to 7 years old, don t
have many images of my first time seeing the house. I do remember dad building
the house before it became the bright white and blue house it is today. With a long
road going into the cul de sac with 6 houses going around it. We have a tall tree in
our front yard with three of the neighbor s mailboxes including ours in the front.
We have known every neighbor as long as I can remember, the town is just an
amalgam of good people. One great family to the right of us is Chester and his wife.
Chester is a true American man and is always nice to everyone he meets. He has
always helped me with my yard work if I needed it and always says hello and good
morning if you see him. His house is the same color as ours and has a beautiful red
Dodge Charger in the front. He is always working in his yard and is adding things to
it every day. One memory I had with him was when my mower stopped working
when I mowed the side yard and he came and fixed everything. He taught me all that
I needed to know about the lawn mower to make sure it didn t happen a second time.
During the whole speech, he made sure I was listening which was
43. Portugal s Journey to Democracy Essay example
Portugal s journey to democracy started in 1910 by first attempt of the Portuguese
people to establish the country as a democracy. Before 5 October 1910, Portugal was
ruled by the principles of constitutional monarchy. However, a putsch lead by the
Portuguese Republican Party established the First Republic by abolishing the
constitutional monarchy regime. The constitutionthat was adopted inaugurated
parliamentary regime with a president as a head of state. Unfortunately, the
republican regime lasted for only 16 years which were exceptionally unstable and
disordered; 45 different cabinets were in power, of which four were dismissed by
military coups.
A military dictatorship replaced the republican regime by pledging order and stability,

General Antonio de Spinole, the head of the Junao of National Salvation, was
declared as the leader of the new regime. The Junta and the MFA publicly declared
that they had no intentions to revolutionise the country, rather they wanted to create
democratic political institutions and allow a constituent assembly to be elected by a
popular vote.
However, there was a significant number of revolutionaries that were advocates of the
extreme left who were dedicated to pursue a Marxist revolution in the country. In
1974 the Communist Party of Portugal managed to replace both, the president and
prime minister with a militant Communist prime minister and left wing president.
The Council of the Revolution was created on 11 March 1975, which essentially was
a body of 20 Communist members of military personnel that intended to govern the
country. The Council began a socialist revolution; land reform was introduced, banks
were nationalized together with insurance companies and main industrial
infrastructures. Nevertheless, the elections for the Constituent Assembly on 25 April
1975 took place anyway and it was the democratic parties that won. In effect, the
Communists ignored the results of the election and refused to give in. In September
they surrounded the Constituent Assembly and demanded its dismissal. Later on 25
November 1975 the Communists started another putsch
