Examples Of Pestel Analysis Of Samsung
Macro Environmental Analysis (PESTEL) While assessing the external environment, there are
different angles to consider. This makes it risky to diminish the concentration of the investigation to

issue, PESTEL analysis can be conveyed, which will center consideration on political, economic,
socio cultural, technology, environmental and legal (PESTEL) qualities of the B and O s full scale

Field Artillery Essay
Support from field artillery has been crucial to every conflict the United States of America has faced
since its establishment as a country. Field artillery provides valuable support to its infantry
counterparts by allowing them to close the distance and destroy their enemies. It molds and shapes the
battlefield. The evolution of field artillery has been remarkable throughout the last 240 years to say the
least. Throughout World War II, more specifically the Battle of Anzio, the Army made essential
changes and improvements to the weaponry, tactics and techniques of field artillery that ultimately
changed the outcome of the battle, which greatly contributed to the allied victory.

The Marbles And The Parthenon
For nearly 2500 years the Parthenon, located in Athens, Greece has manifested the ancient Greek
notions of justice, freedom and artistic excellence. One of the most well known artifacts that were
once on the Parthenon s exterior were the Elgin Marbles. These sacred marbles were crafted by the
well regarded Phidias, consisting of an extensive amount of Greek ideologies and exceptional artistic
impressions. The Elgin marbles were taken from the Parthenon by Lord Elgin and brought to Britain.
Hundreds of years later, the Greeks claim these marbles were once their prized possession, and
demand the return of them. Many may wonder, why let a so called prized possession be kept in such a
low security setting with little protection? The only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

also benefit many citizens. Many people living in Britain have been inspired by the marbles or other
migrated artifacts, these individuals have grown to become well recognized artists and writers from
the influence of the Elgin marbles. (Hitchens, Christopher, Robert Browning, and Graham Binns. The
Elgin marbles: should they be returned to Greece? London: Verso, 1998.)
The Elgin marbles were anticipating 3 possible outcomes; destruction by natural causes, destruction
by war, or rescued by the British. Fortunately, the marbles were saved and guarded by the British,
preventing any possible destruction. Lord Elgin did not only legally retrieve the marbles but he had
entirely good intentions as he was clearly captivated by classical Greek design. At the time, Greece
was under the rule of the Turkish Ottoman, the Turks continually defaced and destroyed many statues
in order to make mortar.(Sultan, Nancy, Illinois Wesleyan University. Should the Elgin Marbles be
Returned to Greece? Illinois, 2005.). It was only a matter of time before the marbles were sacrificed.

Evaluation Of The Execution Of An Evaluation
Program Evaluation Chapters 11 12 Warranting the execution of an evaluation is not practical reality
for all programs, policies, organizations, as it is imperative for the evaluator to assess all factors. More
specifically, The temptation to evaluate everything may be compelling in an idealistic sense, but it
ignores many practical realities (Fitzpatrick, Sanders Worthen, 2011, p. 259. Ones ability to identify
appropriate opportunities requires essential skillsets, knowledge, and the ability to analyze each
condition. In today s society the primary drive behind an evaluation is due to a mandated funding
source, thus seeking accountability regarding public funded programs (Fitzpatrick, Sanders Worthen,
2011). Identifying the purpose of the evaluation is often times vague, requiring the evaluator to
examine significant materials pertaining to the stakeholders, as well as properly identifying objectives
and expectancies held by the stakeholders (Fitzpatrick, Sanders Worthen, 2011). This process requests
the evaluator to review the purpose of the program, the users, the program, program theory, relevant
resources, and appropriate contextual issues. The evaluation process can have significant positive
impacts on both the stakeholders and the evaluator, as communication, knowledge, and relationships
are established. Thus, Evaluation can also educate stakeholders, empowering them to become active in
the evaluations, by helping them gain skills in questioning

Japanese Immigration Essay
4. The effects of the Japanese immigrants.
As a result of Japanese Immigration in Si Racha, It has an impact on real estate market expansion

Narrative Essay On Junior Years
Junior year. My junior year I realized things about myself that I hadn t previously known. Things I ve
never done before and things people thought I couldn t do. Situations I thought I wouldn t be in and
there I was. Junior year, I did it. There s a little bit of a lead up to my moment and it goes back to my
eighth grade year. I ve been in band for a long time and that year I had decided to become an aide for
the band. I loved watching the band, and every show I was fascinated by the majorettes. I thought
everything from the outfits to just twirling in general was amazing. A year had gone by, I didn t think
much about the majorettes in between my eighth grade and freshman year. I went into marching band;
I was in the trumpet section. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was happy, I had what I wanted to do, I made a goal for myself and I had reached it. Then band
practices started. The other three I didn t really know and my friends were still playing instruments.
Every single practice we would go down far away from everyone else and they would have me work
on the same things by myself all the time, while they did other things. If I didn t get something right
away it was assumed I wasn t going to get it at all. If I asked to be shown something a different way, I
was yelled at for not understanding. I went from loving the majorettes to hating them, wanting to be
like them, to hoping I never was like that. Band camp was horrible, plain and simple. They gave me
two days to learn everything and since they came up with everything they already had it down. I had
two awful panic attacks that week, one while we were on the field. The other three acted like they
hated me and it wasn t subtle. I couldn t do anything with them, and I could barely talk to them
without them being patronizing. Practices continued. Nothing changed; except for me. I kept going, I
didn t let them win and I didn t quit. Now the moment: the first game. I wasn t as nervous as I thought
I d be. I felt that since I had made it so long already with dealing with the three that I could get
through anything. I can honestly say that for my first time really performing I couldn t have done
better. I realized I really can do anything. Things didn t get too much better, but I think they realized it

Similes In George Elliott Clarke s The Wisdom Of Shelley
The Wisdom Of Shelley by George Elliott Clarke is a beautifully written poem with a darker meaning.
There are many interesting things hiding within the poem but there are a few specific ones I will
mention. First, there are many different poetic devices used within this short poem. This includes
imagery, similes, and repetition. Second, the symbol of this poem is the rose which is mentioned a few
times throughout the poem. Third, the theme for The Wisdom Of Shelley is deception. Each of these
points contributes to my understanding of the poem in its own way. There are many poetic devices
used throughout The Wisdom Of Shelley . Repetition of words was the first thing that really jumped
out at me. Clarke repeats the words words words words (4), and loved loved loved (15). What I
believe this represents is how the character X only says empty words to what I presume is his family.
If you need to repeat the word loved three times, then it starts to feel like you are only saying the
words to make the other person happy.
The first few lines of the poem say You come down, after / five winters, X, / bristlin with roses (1 3)
and this can be taken as X has been gone for five years showing no signs of returning. He suddenly
shows up with roses one day and expects all to be forgotten and forgiven. The presumed child does not
want to forgive him and forget about what happened. This really sets the mood and tone for what is
going to happen in the poem. Since it is

Anne Bradstreet Suffering
Suffering, a Gateway to Happiness According to Marcel Proust, a famous French novelist of the 18th
century, We are healed from suffering only by experiencing it to the full . Every human being on Earth
will inevitably suffer. This is especially evident in William Bradford s book Of Plymouth Plantation,
Jonathan Edwards sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, and Anne Bradstreet s poem For
Deliverance From a Fever. Bradford recounts the perilous journey of the English pilgrims to now
America, while Edwards depicts the consequences of disbelief in God. Finally, Bradstreet s poem
paints the the image of a deathly sick woman and her suffering. In all three of these literary works,
physical suffering is depicted as an opportunity for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After careful analysis of all three literary pieces, evidently, suffering is constructed as an opportunity
to obtain spiritual redemption as a result of trust in God and to deliver one s self from current and
future suffering. However, on a much larger and broader scale, the three writings in general
summarize a core belief from the Bible: When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers
them out of all their troubles(Moses, Psalm 34:17). When the deserving Christians are in a bad
position and trust God to help, they will be spiritually

Home Depot Present Value Essay
To calculate the present value for Home Depot we must evaluate and understand their 10 k statement.
We were given an interest rate of 8% and to evaluate the capital leases from 2015 2019 and then
calculate the present value (please see excel spreadsheet for more detail). It was determined that the
total present value throughout 2015 2019 is equal to $425.78 (in millions). This is an important figure
and should be closely monitored and reviewed for future decisions, as it could greatly affect the
company s ability to make future payments. If the risk of the company changes the obviously the
present value will change as well. For example, if the interest rate were to change from 8% to 5% the
total present value would increase to $460.69 (in millions). If we were to use the example above with
a 5% interest rate, and a present value of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Net present value and the risk have a strong relation with each other. With inappropriate assessment of
risk, one cannot arrive at a correct or near correct net present value. Net present value of any asset or
investment is the present worth of that asset or investment based on analysis of future returns using
appropriate discounting rate. A risk is an uncertainly attached to the future cash flows
(efinancemanagement.com). A lower risk means an increase in the company s present value and future
values. In the examples provided so far if the interest rate were to stay at 8% the future value of the
company would be $488.62 (in millions) compared to a 5% interest rate and a future value of $587.97
(in millions). That is a difference of $99.35 (in millions) for potential profit when the company is sold.
In present value terms when the rate is 8% the present value is $425.78 (in millions). compared to 5%
and $460.69 (in millions). This proving that lowering the risk lowers the interest rate which then
increases the present value of the company as well as the future value of the

Unknown Salt Synthesis Essay
Overall this experiment was successful, as it was possible to determine which unknown salt solution
the cation belonged too, and also the pairing anion. To figure out the cations, many tests and
observations were needed to be made. With the gathered flame test results, and the information given
in the procedure, conclusions could be made. Solution A is Sr2+ since it tested crimson red. Solution
C is Ba2+ because it tested green. Solution D is Li+ because it turned the flame carmine red. Finally,
solution G is Na+ because the flame had an intense colour of orange yellow. The other ions did not
give any specific flame test colour. The next test used was the litmus test, and it determined not only a
cation, but also two anions. The acidity, and the basicity of each solution were tested in the litmus test.
When the solution is dropped on the paper and it turned the litmus paper red, it means that the solution
in acidic. In this case solution E turned the litmus paper red, proving that H3O+ cations are present.
Solution D and G turned the litmus paper blue which means they are both basic solutions, and either
OH or CO32 anions are present. Left unknown still are solutions B and F, however; solution B can be
concluded to be Co2+ by qualitative observations. Solution B was clear and light red/pink, and by
conducting research it was determined that Co2+ solution contained the same colour, (Brunning,
October 3, 2015). Finally Ag+ was determined to be the cation of unknown

Essay Comparing Half Caste And Search For My Tongue Culture
Comparing Half Caste and Search for my Tongue
Culture. It s a very complicated term, with many different interpretations, but what does it actually
mean? In this essay I will compare two poems from completely different cultures to see if we get any
comparisons, the poems I have chosen to write about are Half Caste by John Agard and Search for my
Tongue by Sujata Bhatt, I have chosen these because I feel they raise some very significant points. But
back to the question mentioned earlier, what is culture? Everyone has a different view on culture, but
to me it is a huge influence on our everyday lives, many different issues contribute to the term Culture
from the way we dress, to our beliefs, attributes, how we live, and

For example, John Agard was originally from Guyana but moved to
England in 1977, his mother was Portuguese but born in Guyana and his father is black. One of the
things he likes about living in England is the wide range of people he meets: The diversity of cultures
here is very exciting . He is very passionate about his culture and gets highly agitated by the view of
racial origins, which is implied in the word Half Caste . This term is now considered rude and
insulting.
The other poem that I am studying is Search for my Tongue by Sujata
Bhatt; once again I have done some preliminary research just to get a feel for the author herself. I was
able to find out that; Sujata Bhatt was born in the Indian state of Gujarat, where her mother tongue
was
Gujarati. Later, her family lived for some years in the United States, where she learned English. She
now lives in Germany. She has chosen to write poems in English, rather than Gujarati. But a number
of her poems, including the one I am studying, are written in both languages.
In an interview with the BBC she says, I have always thought of myself as an Indian who is outside
India . Her mother tongue is for her an important link to her family, and to her childhood, That s the
deepest layer of my identity , and therefore is a very sensitive issue for her.

Examples Of Code Of Ethics In Nursing Practice
I am going to expand upon Astha Regmi s comment about professional codes and guidelines in
Nursing Practice. I have chosen it because in her writing she has mentioned about professional
conduct, code of ethics, its purpose in the nursing career and some of the essential guidelines for
applying these ethics in the field of nursing.
Professional conduct is the reference point on the basis of which the acceptable manner has to be
portrayed by the professional person. Regardless of their job title, position or place of work, a person
needs to act and carry his responsibility in a professional way. (CFA, June 2014). Code of ethics is a

A nurse who is knowledgeable and is sensitive to gather all these information will be able to convey a
qualitative nursing care. Every individual nurse is accountable to provide quality care as well as
promoting the care to uplift the standard of nursing care. The initial assessment of patient
requirements, preferences, their values, and beliefs need to be done. Accordingly, care has to be
planned and implemented. (Australia, Aug 2008).
Appropriate recording and reporting are also fundamental in promoting quality care. Care will be
more effective if provided collectively as a team. Providing care is one duty but side by side equal
priority should be in maintaining and following own ethics and principles. This is how sustainable and
appropriate care can be administered which will further contribute to maintaining dignity and integrity
of the profession. (Lachman, 2009)

Determining Website Credibility Essay
Determining Website Credibility
Jessica Rojas
Chamberlain College of Nursing
Abstract
Advancements in technology have led people to be affected by an overflow of information. Many
websites contain information that is unmonitored making it difficult for nurses to obtain accurate,
credible information. It is essential for people such as health care professionals to know how to
determine the credibility of a website in order to ensure that the information being provided to the
patients is accurate. Nurses guide their practice by the use of evidence based practice and provide their
patients with information on a routine basis. Thus, it is important for them to ensure a website is
credible before providing the patient with any type of information. By the use of the criteria authority,
information, objectivity, ease of navigation, and privacy/security policies, nurses can more effectively
and efficiently determine website credibility. The criteria was applied to the Center for Disease
Control (CDC) website in order to determine the credibility of this website with satisfactory results.
Determining Website Credibility While advances in technology can be beneficial, the growing need to
have answers at our fingertips has contributed to issues with the credibility of websites. The internet is
bursting with information that can be obtained through search engines or databases. However,
problems arise when it comes to determining the accuracy behind the content obtained because some

It only states that it is the property of its bearer. This type of shares is transferred through delivery. Its

3) Capital shares and enjoyment shares:
Enjoyment shares are the shares whose value was consumed. The capital shares are those whose value
was not consumed.
Consumption means returning the value of shares to shareholders before the company dissolution. In
principle, this return should not happen because the company member has the right to stay in it.
However the consumption of shares seems necessary in certain cases. If the company property, for
instance, decays with the passage of time such as mines and quarries. These companies consume
shares during their life so that shareholders don t find themselves unable to retrieve their share value
upon termination of the company.
Often, share consumption is made through assigning a part of profit each year to consume a part of
shares by draw. The shareholder whose share was consumed receive the nominal value as well as an
enjoyment share granting him a right to company profit and a right to vote in the general assembly.
4) Ordinary shares and preference shares:
In principle, shares are of equal value and they grant shareholder equal rights. The company statute
may, however, stipulate that the company issue preference shares granting preferential rights relative
to profits, voting or liquidation proceeds.

U-Boat Tactics in World War II
In September of 2012, Germany s last surviving U Boat captain who helped sink dozens of U.S. and
British ships has been honoured by the modern military in his homeland seven decades after he was
twice decorated by Hitler for bravery. It may seem grim to honor a person who referred to American
shooting season as his hobby during the war, but it is important to recognize the contributions of U
Boat commanders like Reinhard Hardegen. German submarines had been an engineering vision since
1465, and preliminary German submarines were being manufactured as early as 1850 with Sebastian
Wilhelm Valentin Bauer s Brandtaucher design. The Brandtaucher was much improved upon during
the Industrial Age, which represented the peak of Kaiserdom in Germany. With its financial coffers
relatively full, the Kaiser was able to fund designs such as those by Vogel in 1870 and Howaldt in
1891. However, Gustav Zede designed the Forelle (named after the much beloved German trout fish)
and it was the first truly successful German submarine and was launched in 1903. From these early
submarines evolved one of the world s most evocative killing machines, the U Boats. Leading up to
the development of the U Boat were a series of military escalations, culminating in the start of the
Great War. Throughout modern German history, military technologies like the U Boat have been
integral to strategic planning. Even when decisions regarding U Boat development and deployment
seemed senseless, as it

The descendents of Noah had one unified language, with few words so as to be easily understood by
all. As one they went east, and finding a land which they called Shinar, they settled in the land and

The garden he creates, Eden, is made specifically for Adam with the tree of life as well as the Tree of
the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God tells Adam that he may eat of any tree in the garden apart from
the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. This gives Adam a choice to continue being in union
with God, or to oust himself from God s presence by disobeying God and eating the fruit. God then
makes Eve to be a companion of man, named by Adam, therefore imposing his dominion over her.
When Eve gives Adam the Fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, he is accepting the
removal of the garden, not deliberately but because of his inability to resist the temptation. The return
to chaos follows the expulsion from the garden; for you out of it [dust] you were taken; and to dust

An Energy Source Is A Universal Objective For All Nations...
The search and need for an energy source is a universal objective for all nations on earth. Human
societies have been built on the consumption of natural resources for energy since the beginning of
human existence. The first source of course came from the burning of wood from trees to produce fire
that has kept humans warm and fed throughout the ages. With the evolution of human civilization the
need for more powerful energy sources have arisen. The industrial revolution of the early 20th century
demanded a new source which could keep up with humanities growing technologies. Coal, oil, and
natural gas now account for the vast majority of nation s sources of energy, but these resources have
only finite supply. Nuclear energy became an important next step in humanities source for a
sustainable energy source. In recent years though nuclear energy has started to decline in use primarily
due to the public s disapproval after such devastating nuclear disasters such as Chernobyl, Three Mile
Island and more recently the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan. This decline in nuclear energy is
not the case in China today, in fact they are making huge movements to ramp up their use of nuclear
energy. By looking at the history then taking an in depth look into recent nuclear power in China we
will be able to see why and how China is making such extensive leaps in nuclear energy.

Liberal Arts Yay Or Nay Essay
Liberal Arts: Yay or Nay? In recent discussions of liberal arts degrees, a controversial issue has been
whether they are worth getting rather than a vocational degree. On one hand, some argue that getting a
liberal arts degree is a waste of money and there are very limited jobs out there that a liberal arts
degree could be used for. On the other hand, however, others argue that in order to be a well rounded
person and to be more interesting, a student should work towards a liberal arts degree. According to
this view, even though there is not one specific job that the individual will be trained for while
obtaining a liberal arts education, he or she will be feeding their brain and giving himself or herself a
chance to develop better knowledge of subjects in social sciences, literature, and mathematics. In sum,
then, the issue is whether getting a liberal arts education is worth it or not. My own view is that I
believe being an intellectually developed person is extremely important; therefore, I agree that
pursuing a liberal arts education can be very valuable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people believe that there are no jobs available to people with liberal arts degrees, but they
would be wrong. If a student got a degree in English/Literature, they could become a teacher, any kind
of journalist or author, or a reporter. All of these occupations have a very wide scope and encompass
many different kinds of jobs. One of the misconceptions in Sanford J. Ungar s essay The New Liberal
Arts is that no one wants to hire a person with an irrelevant liberal arts degree. He then proceeded to
explain that in a recent study more than three quarters of employers encourage college bound students
to get a liberal arts degree. So, that just proves that employers are seeking well rounded students that

The Importance Of Lifelong Learning ( Lll ) And Continuing...
This essay will discuss the significance of Lifelong Learning (LLL) and Continuing Professional
Development (CPD) in relation to adult nursing. It has been suggested that LLL is too difficult to
define, however it has been suggested that it is participated throughout life. It is important to discuss
LLL, as it has many benefits within the healthcare system, as well as everyday life. This essay will
explore reflection as a skill important to adult nurses, as this is vital in order to evaluate their own
learning, which can encourage improvement of LLL. Reflection in action and on action can also
influence the successful outcome of LLL. The attribute chosen to discuss will be self motivation, due
to the fact that this can lead to more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Laal (2011) has put forward that in modern contexts, LLL is used in everyday life, including
classroom settings, in employment, with the family, and in wider society. This is important in order to
make CPD an easier task, as there are many different settings that utilise LLL.
CPD is vital in the field of adult nursing, as healthcare is frequently being modified and amended.
This is due to many factors, such as changes of policies, which results in changes to the way adult
nurses care for patients (Narayanasamy and Narayanasamy 2007). The purpose of these policies is to
ensure patients are being cared for in a safe environment. Additionally, nurses are required to keep up
to date with amended procedures in order to ensure patients are receiving safe and effective treatment
(Eason 2010). This is vital in order to ensure patient safety and efficient treatment, not only for the
benefit of the patient but also because nurses are responsible for issues arising with a patient s care,
and are potentially liable for mistakes arising from incorrect procedure. LLL is also imperative in
order to meet the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), as without which the
adult nurse would be removed from the register. These requirements are put into place in order to
ensure that the patients are as safe as possible in their environment. Adult nurses are also required to
keep up with important advances within the NHS (Narayanasamy and Narayanasamy 2007), such

Frida Kahlo Self-Portrait With Monkey Essay
Self Portrait with Monkey: By Frida Kahlo
Self Portrait with Monkey made in the year of 1938 by Frida kahlo a Mexican artist who was
influence by the traumatized events that occur during her early life. Which were physical and
psychological tragic. Frida khalo used her personal tragic to create art and which her saying was that
she paint herself because it was what she knew best. Kahlos work was influence by tragic event in
which in her portrait Self Portrait with Monkey, it was made to show a living and soulful being
holding her by having his arm around her neck of a form of protection and who she describe the pet to
be a like a the child she couldn t have. The portrait is in the Art Gallery, Buffalo, New York, since

Her posing is of someone who seems lonely, incomplete and unsatisfied. The portrait is the
appearance more of a tomboy. We can see the background of the painting showing the a form of a
jungle with different hairy leaves and cactus. The painting has different textures, lines, and colors. We
can see a light green mixture with yellow and with some blue, green, and light gray, also the cantus is
painted in light gray with a white and slightly brown as it seems from viewing the painting. The
natural objects used by Frida Kahlo in most of her portrait, are the natural element as we can see in the
Self Portrait with a Monkey. She is wearing a collar and it seems to be made of bamboo material. In
the portrait with seeing a Monkey is facing forward and how the monkey has his arm around her with
so much care and protection. The monkey reflects an innocent child holding on his mother, reflecting
the viewers that he is love and that he feels security by her as his main protection. Her painting is
more of a personal portrait. The colors of use are vibrant colors, but even though her colors used were
not as dark, her self portrait seems more with a sad appearance. I think in her life, there has been
always an empty hole. Possibly reason were the inability to bear children and her unstable relationship
with Diego Rivera. To Frida Kahlo, he was considered to be her soul mate, friend and her tutor in
painting. Her emptiness was the need be a woman in every sense of the word. Which is married, have
children, and be hundred percent in love and to be love with your partner. I just think this is how she
used to feel. Her paintings were most self portraits, which it shows that she was sad and unhappy. The
painting her facial expression is of someone that is lonely and depressed. To Frida Kahlo, her only
time of distraction from the pain and the loneliness was painting. Her only distraction and

Beethoven Ode To Joy Symphony
As we all have heard music from the classical or romantic period, my paticular well known favorite
songs are Ode to Joy, Symphony #5, and Fur Elsie played and composed by one of the worlds
greastest Ludwig Van Beethoven.
Beethoven was born on December 16, 1770 in Bonn, Germany to Maria Magdalena van Beethoven
and Johann van Beethoven. Beethovens father was a musician himself who seen what musical
possibilities his son had at such a young age. Beethoven was waken up all times of the night just to
practice the keyboard until the sun had rose. Unlike his father, beethovens grandfather Kapellmeister
Ludwig van Beethoven was also a musician himself who had endless pride in his grandchild.

An empirical study of performance measurement in manufacturing ļ¬rms
Maurice Gosselin
Ā“ Ā“ School of Accountancy, Universite Laval, Quebec City, Canada
Abstract
Purpose The recent performance measurement literature suggests that organizations should put more
emphasis on non ļ¬nancial measures in their performance measurement systems, that organizations

The purpose of this paper is to examine what are the measures that manufacturing ļ¬rms use, classify
these measures into categories, assess the extent to which ļ¬rms use performance measurement
innovations such as the balanced scorecard and integrated performance measurement system and
examine the association between the measures and contextual factors like strategy, decentralization
and environmental uncertainty. A survey was mailed to 200 randomly selected Canadian
manufacturing ļ¬rms to collect data on their performance measurement systems. After extensive follow
up procedures, 101 responses were received. The results show that traditional measures are still widely
used and that the proportion of ļ¬rms that have decided to implement new performance measurement
approaches is relatively low. Furthermore, the level of performance measurement competence does
not seem to be as high as one could expect. More speciļ¬cally, the results show that the types of
performance measures used by ļ¬rms are seldom associated to strategy, environmental uncertainty and
decentralization. This paper is organized as follows. A brief review of the literature is completed in
Section 2. The questionnaire and the data collection process are described in Section 3. The results are
described and discussed in Section 4. 2. Empirical research on

Globalization of Levi Strauss
Globalization of Levi Strauss amp; Co. LaDonna Williams May 24, 2010 Globalization is a necessary
evil that allows business to make huge profits and third world countries to begin creating a free market
economy. While it seems that globalization may be a solution to the problem of poverty and starvation
for some people, it may also contribute to issues such as child labor, discrimination, exploitation and
health and safety issues for people working in developing countries. Since U.S. laws do not apply to
American companies operating in foreign countries, these companies have an ethical responsibility to
create codes of conduct to govern the way they treat people and conduct business overseas. Levi
Strauss amp; Co. has been a leader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, many western cultures may view child labor as a necessary, and accepted, source of
income for many families, but many Americans and other western cultures see child labor as abuse.
When Levi Strauss amp; Co. learned that two of its suppliers were using child labor in Bangladesh,
they had a moral dilemma. The families of the working children relied heavily on their incomes, so
firing them might create a major hardship on the children and their families, or even force the children
to look for more inhumane sources of income, such as prostitution or begging (Solomon, 1996). LS
amp;Co. looked for more creative ways to solve the problem, and came up with a solution that would
benefit everyone. Their suppliers agreed to continue paying the children under age 14 while they
attended school, and LS amp;Co. paid for tuition, books and uniforms, then when the children turned
14, they could be rehired by the company (Solomon, 1996). This solution created no financial
hardship for the children and families who would otherwise lose their income, and allowed them to
receive an education, as children should. Levi Strauss amp; Co. has also faced other ethical issues
overseas, and taken a responsible approach to resolving the problem. In 1998, for example, they
decided to close the factories in Belgium, but worried that the loss of over 1,000 jobs might devastate
the Belgian economy. In order to avoid financial hardship for the community, and stimulate
employment,

jury. Darrow fought, Darrow persuaded, Darrow won. (Asyndeton) Darrows 12 hour speech was able
to convince the judge, and the reason this was possible was because of the numerous rhetorical
strategies used. Darrow s go to strategy which appeared to have a huge effect, was using Pathos.

Again he is forcing the audience to recognize the effect of the immortalities that the young are

The Relationship Between Pedagogy And Interaction In The...
As English is becoming a more and more popular language, it is taught as a second language in the
classroom in many countries all over the world. In consideration of this, many researchers have
analysed different kinds of interaction that happens in the classroom. Seedhouse (2004) suggests that
the organization of turn taking, sequence, and repair follow some rules in the second language
classroom. Waldspurger (1996) concludes that learners usually produce long utterances in discussion
lessons compared to what they produce in grammar lessons. In accordance with the finding of

In order to describe the interactional architecture, the institutional core goal needs to be identified at
first, which is what the teacher aims to teach to the learners in the second language classroom. This
core goal remains the same no matter who will teach it and where it will be taught. There are three
properties deriving from the core goal according to Seedhouse (2004), which shapes the interaction in
the second language classroom. Property one is that language is both the medium and goal of
instruction. That is to say, language is not only used by both teachers and learners in the second
language classroom as a medium but also it is the goal of their learning by using this language.
Property two is that pedagogy and interaction have an influence on each other, which means that if the
pedagogical focus changes, the interaction changes as well and vice versa. Whatever one says in the
second language classroom usually reflects that he is displaying his analysis of the relationship
between pedagogy and interaction. Property three is that the interaction which the learners produce

Field artillery provides valuable support to its infantry counterparts by allowing them to close the distance and destroy their enemies. It molds and shapes the battlefield. The evolution of field artillery has been remarkable throughout the last 240 years to say the least. Throughout World War II, more specifically the Battle of Anzio, the Army made essential changes and improvements to the weaponry, tactics and techniques of field artillery that ultimately changed the outcome of the battle, which greatly contributed to the allied victory. The Elgin marbles were taken from the Parthenon by Lord Elgin and brought to Britain. The Elgin marbles were anticipating 3 possible outcomes; destruction by natural causes, destruction by war, or rescued by the British. Fortunately, the marbles were saved and guarded by the British, preventing any possible destruction. Lord Elgin did not only legally retrieve the marbles but he had entirely good intentions as he was clearly captivated by classical Greek design. At the time, Greece was under the rule of the Turkish Ottoman, the Turks continually defaced and destroyed many statues in order to make mortar.(Sultan, Nancy, Illinois Wesleyan University. • 5. Evaluation Of The Execution Of An Evaluation Program Evaluation Chapters 11 12 Warranting the execution of an evaluation is not practical reality for all programs, policies, organizations, as it is imperative for the evaluator to assess all factors. More specifically, The temptation to evaluate everything may be compelling in an idealistic sense, but it ignores many practical realities (Fitzpatrick, Sanders Worthen, 2011, p. 259. Ones ability to identify appropriate opportunities requires essential skillsets, knowledge, and the ability to analyze each condition. In today s society the primary drive behind an evaluation is due to a mandated funding source, thus seeking accountability regarding public funded programs (Fitzpatrick, Sanders Worthen, 2011). Identifying the purpose of the evaluation is often times vague, requiring the evaluator to examine significant materials pertaining to the stakeholders, as well as properly identifying objectives and expectancies held by the stakeholders (Fitzpatrick, Sanders Worthen, 2011). This process requests the evaluator to review the purpose of the program, the users, the program, program theory, relevant resources, and appropriate contextual issues. The evaluation process can have significant positive impacts on both the stakeholders and the evaluator, as communication, knowledge, and relationships are established. Thus, Evaluation can also educate stakeholders, empowering them to become active in the evaluations, by helping them gain skills in questioning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Narrative Essay On Junior Years Junior year. My junior year I realized things about myself that I hadn t previously known. Things I ve never done before and things people thought I couldn t do. Situations I thought I wouldn t be in and there I was. Junior year, I did it. There s a little bit of a lead up to my moment and it goes back to my eighth grade year. I ve been in band for a long time and that year I had decided to become an aide for the band. I loved watching the band, and every show I was fascinated by the majorettes. I thought everything from the outfits to just twirling in general was amazing. A year had gone by, I didn t think much about the majorettes in between my eighth grade and freshman year. I went into marching band; I was in the trumpet section. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was happy, I had what I wanted to do, I made a goal for myself and I had reached it. Then band practices started. The other three I didn t really know and my friends were still playing instruments. Every single practice we would go down far away from everyone else and they would have me work on the same things by myself all the time, while they did other things. If I didn t get something right away it was assumed I wasn t going to get it at all. If I asked to be shown something a different way, I was yelled at for not understanding. I went from loving the majorettes to hating them, wanting to be like them, to hoping I never was like that. Band camp was horrible, plain and simple. They gave me two days to learn everything and since they came up with everything they already had it down. I had two awful panic attacks that week, one while we were on the field. The other three acted like they hated me and it wasn t subtle. I couldn t do anything with them, and I could barely talk to them without them being patronizing. Practices continued. Nothing changed; except for me. I kept going, I didn t let them win and I didn t quit. Now the moment: the first game. I wasn t as nervous as I thought I d be. I felt that since I had made it so long already with dealing with the three that I could get through anything. I can honestly say that for my first time really performing I couldn t have done better. I realized I really can do anything. Things didn t get too much better, but I think they realized it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Similes In George Elliott Clarke s The Wisdom Of Shelley The Wisdom Of Shelley by George Elliott Clarke is a beautifully written poem with a darker meaning. There are many interesting things hiding within the poem but there are a few specific ones I will mention. First, there are many different poetic devices used within this short poem. This includes imagery, similes, and repetition. Second, the symbol of this poem is the rose which is mentioned a few times throughout the poem. Third, the theme for The Wisdom Of Shelley is deception. Each of these points contributes to my understanding of the poem in its own way. There are many poetic devices used throughout The Wisdom Of Shelley . Repetition of words was the first thing that really jumped out at me. Clarke repeats the words words words words (4), and loved loved loved (15). What I believe this represents is how the character X only says empty words to what I presume is his family. If you need to repeat the word loved three times, then it starts to feel like you are only saying the words to make the other person happy. The first few lines of the poem say You come down, after / five winters, X, / bristlin with roses (1 3) and this can be taken as X has been gone for five years showing no signs of returning. He suddenly shows up with roses one day and expects all to be forgotten and forgiven. The presumed child does not want to forgive him and forget about what happened. This really sets the mood and tone for what is going to happen in the poem. Since it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anne Bradstreet Suffering Suffering, a Gateway to Happiness According to Marcel Proust, a famous French novelist of the 18th century, We are healed from suffering only by experiencing it to the full . Every human being on Earth will inevitably suffer. This is especially evident in William Bradford s book Of Plymouth Plantation, Jonathan Edwards sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, and Anne Bradstreet s poem For Deliverance From a Fever. Bradford recounts the perilous journey of the English pilgrims to now America, while Edwards depicts the consequences of disbelief in God. After careful analysis of all three literary pieces, evidently, suffering is constructed as an opportunity to obtain spiritual redemption as a result of trust in God and to deliver one s self from current and future suffering. However, on a much larger and broader scale, the three writings in general summarize a core belief from the Bible: When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles(Moses, Psalm 34:17). • 10. Home Depot Present Value Essay To calculate the present value for Home Depot we must evaluate and understand their 10 k statement. We were given an interest rate of 8% and to evaluate the capital leases from 2015 2019 and then calculate the present value (please see excel spreadsheet for more detail). It was determined that the total present value throughout 2015 2019 is equal to $425.78 (in millions). This is an important figure and should be closely monitored and reviewed for future decisions, as it could greatly affect the company s ability to make future payments. If the risk of the company changes the obviously the present value will change as well. For example, if the interest rate were to change from 8% to 5% the total present value would increase to $460.69 (in millions). If we were to use the example above with a 5% interest rate, and a present value of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Net present value and the risk have a strong relation with each other. With inappropriate assessment of risk, one cannot arrive at a correct or near correct net present value. Net present value of any asset or investment is the present worth of that asset or investment based on analysis of future returns using appropriate discounting rate. A risk is an uncertainly attached to the future cash flows (efinancemanagement.com). A lower risk means an increase in the company s present value and future values. In the examples provided so far if the interest rate were to stay at 8% the future value of the company would be $488.62 (in millions) compared to a 5% interest rate and a future value of $587.97 (in millions). That is a difference of $99.35 (in millions) for potential profit when the company is sold. In present value terms when the rate is 8% the present value is $425.78 (in millions). compared to 5% and $460.69 (in millions). This proving that lowering the risk lowers the interest rate which then increases the present value of the company as well as the future value of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Unknown Salt Synthesis Essay Overall this experiment was successful, as it was possible to determine which unknown salt solution the cation belonged too, and also the pairing anion. To figure out the cations, many tests and observations were needed to be made. With the gathered flame test results, and the information given in the procedure, conclusions could be made. Solution A is Sr2+ since it tested crimson red. Solution C is Ba2+ because it tested green. Solution D is Li+ because it turned the flame carmine red. Finally, solution G is Na+ because the flame had an intense colour of orange yellow. The other ions did not give any specific flame test colour. The next test used was the litmus test, and it determined not only a cation, but also two anions. The acidity, and the basicity of each solution were tested in the litmus test. When the solution is dropped on the paper and it turned the litmus paper red, it means that the solution in acidic. In this case solution E turned the litmus paper red, proving that H3O+ cations are present. Solution D and G turned the litmus paper blue which means they are both basic solutions, and either OH or CO32 anions are present. Left unknown still are solutions B and F, however; solution B can be concluded to be Co2+ by qualitative observations. Solution B was clear and light red/pink, and by conducting research it was determined that Co2+ solution contained the same colour, (Brunning, October 3, 2015). Finally Ag+ was determined to be the cation of unknown ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Essay Comparing Half Caste And Search For My Tongue Culture Comparing Half Caste and Search for my Tongue Culture. It s a very complicated term, with many different interpretations, but what does it actually mean? In this essay I will compare two poems from completely different cultures to see if we get any comparisons, the poems I have chosen to write about are Half Caste by John Agard and Search for my Tongue by Sujata Bhatt, I have chosen these because I feel they raise some very significant points. But back to the question mentioned earlier, what is culture? Everyone has a different view on culture, but to me it is a huge influence on our everyday lives, many different issues contribute to the term Culture from the way we dress, to our beliefs, attributes, how we live, and even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, John Agard was originally from Guyana but moved to England in 1977, his mother was Portuguese but born in Guyana and his father is black. One of the things he likes about living in England is the wide range of people he meets: The diversity of cultures here is very exciting . He is very passionate about his culture and gets highly agitated by the view of racial origins, which is implied in the word Half Caste . This term is now considered rude and insulting. The other poem that I am studying is Search for my Tongue by Sujata Bhatt; once again I have done some preliminary research just to get a feel for the author herself. Determining Website Credibility Essay Determining Website Credibility Jessica Rojas Chamberlain College of Nursing Abstract Advancements in technology have led people to be affected by an overflow of information. Many websites contain information that is unmonitored making it difficult for nurses to obtain accurate, credible information. It is essential for people such as health care professionals to know how to determine the credibility of a website in order to ensure that the information being provided to the patients is accurate. Nurses guide their practice by the use of evidence based practice and provide their patients with information on a routine basis. Thus, it is important for them to ensure a website is credible before providing the patient with any type of information. By the use of the criteria authority, information, objectivity, ease of navigation, and privacy/security policies, nurses can more effectively and efficiently determine website credibility. The criteria was applied to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) website in order to determine the credibility of this website with satisfactory results. U-Boat Tactics in World War II In September of 2012, Germany s last surviving U Boat captain who helped sink dozens of U.S. and British ships has been honoured by the modern military in his homeland seven decades after he was twice decorated by Hitler for bravery. It may seem grim to honor a person who referred to American shooting season as his hobby during the war, but it is important to recognize the contributions of U Boat commanders like Reinhard Hardegen. German submarines had been an engineering vision since 1465, and preliminary German submarines were being manufactured as early as 1850 with Sebastian Wilhelm Valentin Bauer s Brandtaucher design. The Brandtaucher was much improved upon during the Industrial Age, which represented the peak of Kaiserdom in Germany. With its financial coffers relatively full, the Kaiser was able to fund designs such as those by Vogel in 1870 and Howaldt in 1891. However, Gustav Zede designed the Forelle (named after the much beloved German trout fish) and it was the first truly successful German submarine and was launched in 1903. From these early submarines evolved one of the world s most evocative killing machines, the U Boats. Leading up to the development of the U Boat were a series of military escalations, culminating in the start of the Great War. Throughout modern German history, military technologies like the U Boat have been integral to strategic planning. Human societies have been built on the consumption of natural resources for energy since the beginning of human existence. The first source of course came from the burning of wood from trees to produce fire that has kept humans warm and fed throughout the ages. With the evolution of human civilization the need for more powerful energy sources have arisen. The industrial revolution of the early 20th century demanded a new source which could keep up with humanities growing technologies. Coal, oil, and natural gas now account for the vast majority of nation s sources of energy, but these resources have only finite supply. Nuclear energy became an important next step in humanities source for a sustainable energy source. In recent years though nuclear energy has started to decline in use primarily due to the public s disapproval after such devastating nuclear disasters such as Chernobyl, Three Mile Island and more recently the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan. This decline in nuclear energy is not the case in China today, in fact they are making huge movements to ramp up their use of nuclear energy. By looking at the history then taking an in depth look into recent nuclear power in China we will be able to see why and how China is making such extensive leaps in nuclear energy. In recent discussions of liberal arts degrees, a controversial issue has been whether they are worth getting rather than a vocational degree. On one hand, some argue that getting a liberal arts degree is a waste of money and there are very limited jobs out there that a liberal arts degree could be used for. On the other hand, however, others argue that in order to be a well rounded person and to be more interesting, a student should work towards a liberal arts degree. According to this view, even though there is not one specific job that the individual will be trained for while obtaining a liberal arts education, he or she will be feeding their brain and giving himself or herself a chance to develop better knowledge of subjects in social sciences, literature, and mathematics. In sum, then, the issue is whether getting a liberal arts education is worth it or not. CPD is vital in the field of adult nursing, as healthcare is frequently being modified and amended. This is due to many factors, such as changes of policies, which results in changes to the way adult nurses care for patients (Narayanasamy and Narayanasamy 2007). The purpose of these policies is to ensure patients are being cared for in a safe environment. Additionally, nurses are required to keep up to date with amended procedures in order to ensure patients are receiving safe and effective treatment (Eason 2010). This is vital in order to ensure patient safety and efficient treatment, not only for the benefit of the patient but also because nurses are responsible for issues arising with a patient s care, and are potentially liable for mistakes arising from incorrect procedure. LLL is also imperative in order to meet the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), as without which the adult nurse would be removed from the register. The families of the working children relied heavily on their incomes, so firing them might create a major hardship on the children and their families, or even force the children to look for more inhumane sources of income, such as prostitution or begging (Solomon, 1996).
