Essay about The Effects of Homelessness on Children
Imagine a young child growing up, learning, and trying to further his or her life to obtain success in
the future. For an everyday child this can be challenging, however everyday obstacles can be
overcome. For thousands of children in the United States, this dream is almost impossible to achieve.
These children are a part of the homeless population that is spread throughout the United States. Many
times these individuals try to hide this major secret from the rest of the world, but homelessness is
very prevalent among these youths today. Various problems occur in these peoples lives that others
could not even begin to understand. Homelessness affects children in every stage of life physically,
mentally, and emotionally. Homelessness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In today s society children becoming homeless and having to fend for themselves is wide spread but
homelessness in families also tends to be common (Jewel 2). This issue affects the human population
in a very grave way which leaves one out of every fifty children experiencing this immense epidemic
(Crary 1). The current recession, has caused sixteen percent of homeless children to be present in our
country today and with the economy worsening this statistic will increase (Kingsbury 1). Children of
many ages are affected by these tremendous problems resulting from homelessness that have just
become greater as time has passed. Homelessness leaves long lasting scars on these children (Crary 2).
The burden places upon these people can influence every facet of their lives; from contraception to
early adulthood (Hart Shegos 2). All stages of life are affected by this experience of homelessness and
severe problems can be caused in every stage. Not only does homelessness occur after contraception
but it starts affecting these children from before birth age. Due to many mothers in recent years being
teenagers who ages are decreasing year by year, these pregnant mothers go through their nine month
pregnancy without proper treatment or care (4). Fifty percent of homeless women versus fifteen
percent of the general population have not had a prenatal visit in the first trimester of pregnancy (4).
Also the service reports a forty percent substance use rate among women

Unfulfilled Dreams Exposed in Hughes Harlem Essay
Unfulfilled Dreams Exposed in Hughes s Harlem
Most of us have dreams that we one day hope to fulfill. They could be little dreams that will take little
time and effort to accomplish, or they could be big dreams that will take more time and energy to
fulfill. Nevertheless, whether one s dream is as mundane as hitting the numbers or as noble as hoping
to see one s children reared properly, each dream is equally important to the person who has it (Bizot
904). Each dream is also equally painful when it is taken away; or if we never have the opportunity to
make the dream a reality. In the poem Harlem by Langston Hughes, the different emotions that people
feel when a dream is deferred is presented through Hughes s unique ... Show more content on

For some of the words, he uses the dictionary meaning, yet for others he uses the connotative
meaning. When Hughes uses a word connotatively, he wants the reader to receive a deeper meaning
than the dictionary definition would give. For example, the word deferred in Harlem means
unfulfilled. The dictionary meaning, however, is to postpone. In the dictionary, postpone means will
happen at a later date or time. However, the dreams that Hughes refers to are ones that will never
come true.
Hughes also uses the connotative meaning for the word fester (line 4). The dictionary meaning is to
form pus, yet this definition does not seem strong enough for the emotion the word is trying to
express. The word fester in the poem means to become a source of pain or anger. This is exactly what
becomes of a person s deferred dream. It becomes painful because that dream never leaves the person
s mind. The person might forget about it for a little while and go on with his or her life, but like most
painful memories, it will pop up when the person least expects it to.
Each line in the poem Harlem gives an imaginative description of what a person with a deferred dream
can become. Since this poem does not define or give examples of the dream, we ll have to make up
our own (901). Lines two and three ask, Does it dry up / like a raisin in the sun? We know that a

Life Changing Moment In Life
When reminiscing on my past I m able to recall the certain moments, which have led to a path where I
find myself at a cross road. Searching through the databases of my mind, I m reminded of cherished
memories, though I attempt to pinpoint the times in which I have been successful in my decision
making; I cannot help but deliberate whether my past conveyed such a challenging decision. My
future is unpredictable, and my choices will decide my prolonged existence; positive or negative I
must act on them now, or else I will miss the train to my forthcoming. Through the life changing
moments, which led to my admiration for the ones close to me; I have found what identifies me as an
individual. Nonetheless, will it be enough for the rapid pace at which my future emerges?
Life changing, it s a term to identify an event that will forever transform someone, and the life they are
currently living; sounds self explanatory, though it isn t such a simple phrase. Considering the
expression; life changing is watching a friend fight cancer, battling each day not knowing if she will
get better. Moreover, Parents who are combating a recession, struggling to generate money with the
profession they find themselves in; moving from house to house trying to stay joyful to a child who
may not identify the extent of the situation. Trails such as these have caused my life to be significantly
altered. However, these events are only a minor fraction of my narrative. For instance, I ve helped lead
a movement against bullying, being triumphant with the results. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to
represent my school at a World Leadership Conference, being able to express heartache, happiness,
and love to individuals, some who have experienced horrible tragedies, was such an eye opening
experience. These events in my life have erupt a fire in my soul, and striving to build upon each
situation will only be beneficial for my future endeavors.
Reflecting these life changing moments, I come to a realization that not all memories are so
influential, but more of a comforting feeling. My family vacations to Walt Disney World helped bring
imagination and inspiration inside of a young boy s mind. Playing on my childhood play set in our

Military Capability During Peacetime Innovation
Resources, accurate innovation, political support, and privatized development are four crucial factors
for enhancing military capability during peacetime innovation. Therefore, countries that effectively
manage internal resources, and are funded through political support will often be at the forefront of
military development. Moreover, accurate innovation is essential in ensuring that innovated
technology aligns with the required capabilities to defend the nation. Therefore, countries with
political support in achieving their military vision through accurate peacetime innovation, often have
the upper hand in future military strength. Political support is the primary and foremost key
component in developing successful innovation. Furthermore, military innovation cannot deviate from
the strategic guidance of the nation, without reconstructing the defense strategy and military vision.
Nonetheless, this reconstruction can occur if the current innovation and military development is
defined upon outdated technology. Therefore, peacetime innovation is an opportunity to combat
deficiencies as well as capability gaps, in order to maintain the competitive edge against potential
enemies or threats to a nation. Most importantly, the cost of the innovation, training, and
implementation must be feasible through funding and allocation with approval by bureaucrats.
Spending outside ones means in this factor will result in both incomplete and inadequate innovation. 1

Ned Kelly Cruelty
Such is life These words is thought to be Ned Kelly s last before he was hanged for his crimes. But
who was Ned Kelly? What did Ned do that he deserved to be hanged? Why was Ned important? To
many Ned Kelly is seen as a hero, to others he was seen as a villain but in either event he changed
what would later be Australia. Was Ned Kelly good or bad? Before we understand Ned s story we
must understand Austraila before Ned. Australia was first inhabited by the Aborigonals (the
indigenous people) and was left alone by the outside world until Europeans first had set sail for the
country at around 1606. Between 1606 and 1770 an estimated 54 European ships had came to
Australia. Most of these European ships were from the Dutch East India Company and for a small
time became New Holland. It wasn t until August of 1770 that somebody officially claimed Australia
his name was Lieutenant James Cook. Cook had claimed Australia in the name for King George the
Third and renamed Australia to New South Wales. Once claimed, two fleets came to Australia the first
had eleven ships with about 1,350 people on it. The second fleet had provided food and supplies that
were badly needed but many on the second fleet were ill and many were near death. None of the
people on the second fleet were helpful to the colonies. One thing to note is that many of the people
getting sent to Australia were pervious convicts not only that, but in 1790 there was one woman to

The Glass Menagerie Symbolism Essay
The Importance of Symbolism in The Glass Menagerie
Tom Wingfield is the narrator and a major character in Tennessee William s timeless play, The Glass
Menagerie. Through the eyes of Tom, the viewer gets a glance into the life of his family in the pre war
depression era; his mother, a Southern belle desperately clinging to the past; his sister, a woman too
fragile to function in society; and himself, a struggling, young poet working at a warehouse to pay the
bills. Williams has managed to create a momentous play using a combination of different elements,
including symbolism. Three noteworthy examples of symbolism are the fire escape, a sense of hope
and an escape both to the outside world and from it; the glass menagerie itself, ... Show more content

For Tom, it is a means of escape from fire, the slow and implacable fires of human desperation (21).
This is especially true of Tom s apartment, which is both literally and metaphorically a trap which
Tom and his mother, at least, wish to escape (Bigsby 34). His mother, Amanda, is devastated after her
daughter Laura s failure to cope in business college. This is a let down of Amanda s hopes of escaping
because she has invested what little she had to free both herself and Laura (Bigsby 34). Amanda then
becomes obsessed with finding Laura a gentleman caller so that she can marry and be supported as
another means of escape, at least for Laura. When this caller finally comes, and it seems like it was
meant to be, as they dance and kiss, he announces he is engaged, and dashes their hopes. The ever
fragile Laura, temporarily drawn out of her dream world shell of her glass collection and the victrola,
draws further back into herself. Now a terrible desperation fills the apartment, and Tom decides he
must escape the suffocating environment to follow his own calling. The fire escape to him represents a
path to the outside world. For Laura, the fire escape is exactly the opposite a path to the safe world
inside, a world in which she can hide. Especially symbolic is Laura s fall when descending the steps to
do a chore for her mother after leaving the security of the apartment. This fall suggests

Examples Of Evil In Young Goodman Brown
Young Goodman Brown: Good versus Evil
Throughout Young Goodman Brown and other works of Nathaniel Hawthorne, the themes of sin and
guilt constantly reoccur. Like many authors, Hawthorne used events in his life as a basis for the stories
that he wrote. Hawthorne felt that ones guilt does not die with him/her but is rather passed down
through the generations. Hawthorne s great great uncle was one of the judges during the Salem
witchcraft trials. Hawthorne felt a great sense of guilt because of this. Hawthorne used a great deal of
symbolism to depict what would come to be known as the subconscious. In this allegory he used
symbolism to speak of a dreamlike process. Hawthorne used the characters and the events of the story
to create a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This unexpectedly causes Young Goodman Brown to distrust things due to his unexpected decision of
occurrence a having gone through either a dream or reality. In Young Goodman Brown, a figurative
allegory is taking place. This traditional allegory is different from most others in that it derives from
the symbolism of the plot, the setting, and the characters. The sub meaning of this story has social,
political, and religious connotations. The characters in this story were often personifications of
theoretical emotions such as faith, greed, and evil. The characters names such as Goodman, Faith, and
Gookin are symbolic of religion and are at opposing ends of evil in the story.
On the day of their wedding, Faith, Goodman Brown s wife was wearing pink ribbons in her hair. This
was very symbolic of her being childlike and young. Also, everything that has to do with her is about
her doubting herself and her relationship with Young Goodman Brown. It was important for
Hawthorne to show the youth in these two characters. This was another religious reference. In the
bible it states Who ever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not receive it at all.
(Hawthorne, 635) This means that it is important to be like a child and be content without knowing
everything else that is out there. It also means that if one is on a quest for knowledge then he/she does
not leave room for someone else to be

Essay about James Lovell
James A. Lovell, captain in the United States Navy was born on March 25, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio.
His parents are James Arthur Senior and Blanch Lovell. You may have heard of James Lovell through
the popular movie recently made named Apollo 13 . Well, there is more to learn about Lovell than a
movie about his dramatic journey back to Earth in 1970. Believe it or not he did do quite a bit more in
his life that many people do not know about. Hopefully through reading this report you will learn
many more facts about James A. Lovell.

You probably have no idea what significance the Gemini Seven mission has in American Space
history. It was a record breaking mission at the time! The astronauts were in space for two weeks. It
may not seem like very much now, but back in December of 1965 this was totally amazing! In order to
understand why this event is so important you have to imagine what it was like back in 1965. No one
had landed on the moon yet, so we were still in a space race with the Russians. At that time we had
done something that the Russians had not accomplished, and in 1965 the thought of going to space
was a lot more radical than it is now. Also while they were up in space they pioneered the first
rendezvous with another space vessel. So in one mission, they and Gemini Six had broken two
records!
Lovell was launched into space for a second time on November 11, 1966. Edwin Aldrin accompanied
him. On this mission Lovell and Aldrin circumnavigated the Earth fifty nine times in four days. What
was special about this mission was the knowledge that was gained on walking in space. During their
flight, Lovell took three space walks and learned very much about the restraints that are needed to
perform a space walk. He paid very close attention to what type of restraints worked the best for
certain jobs that needed to be done on the exterior of the spacecraft. While on one of his walks, Lovell

The Issue of Nursing Shortage in the United States
Nursing Shortages
Introduction
The shortage of nurses in the United States has been discussed often and has been fully reported in the
media over the past several decades. There have been reports of shortages so critical that they actually
have become ...a national security concern (Nelson, 2002). Moreover, the reasons for the shortages
and potential solutions for this crisis are extremely well covered in the scholarly literature. In this
paper, an article in the peer reviewed Health Marketing Quarterly points to how the nursing shortage
can be addressed using marketing strategies. In addition, other scholarly articles will be reviewed in
order to address the challenges and consequences that could result if this crisis is not addressed
immediately.
Marketing Nursing as a Profession
An article in the Health Marketing Quarterly written by Mark Somers, Linda Finch, and Dee
Birnbaum (university instructors in schools of management, nursing and business fields in the U.S.)
asserts that the nursing shortages of highly trained nurses and of nursing faculty is close to a level that
could be termed a crisis (Somers, et al, 2010). The expected gap between supply and demand will
expand to more than a million nurses by 2020, Somers explains, which is twice the shortfall had had
been projected just two years prior to this article s publication (292).
Why the dramatic shortfall in nurses? There are at least ten influencing factors associated with this
looming crisis, and

The Importance Of Mindfulness Based Strengths Practice
Research Related to the Values in Action Inventory In a study done by Itai Ivtzan, Ryan M. Niemiec,
and Charlie Briscoe (2016), they performed an experiment to show that Mindfulness Based Strengths
Practice (MBSP) programs would improve the overall welfare of the lives of those who were part of
the MBSP group compared to those who were in the no intervention control group. The hypothesis of
this study was that, participants in the MBSP group would show higher levels of wellbeing, as
predicted by higher scores on the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), Flourishing Scale (FS), the
Positive Psychotherapy Inventory, and the Signature Strengths Inventory (SSI), compared to
participants in the control group (Ivtzan, Niemiec, Briscoe, 2016). To perform this experiment, two
groups of people were created from the general adult public. The first group was made up of twenty
participants whom did not receive any intervention. The second group was made up of those that were
put into the MBSP group. The MBSP group was made up of nineteen participants, which were later
split into two groups, a group of nine and a group of ten. The MBSP groups performed one right after
the other, each group was to complete eight weeks of intervention. This intervention was performed
online and participants would log on and complete two hours of practices and exercises. Participants
in both groups filled out a self report questionnaire, that took around five minutes to complete, to get a

Naivety In Perceval And Parry
Naivety is a common theme that is represented throughout literature and film. Naïve characters have
their hearts open for adventure and long for bravery, but their childlike mindset and ignorance of
reality lead to distrust in their abilities by other characters. Regarding Perceval and Parry, it is evident
that these characters fall under the naïve category of characters. Perceval was raised as a boy in the
country: he lacked knowledge of the world beyond his realm and he was ignorant of knighthood.
Despite his lack of knowledge, he desired to become the greatest knight. In comparison, the character
Parry was introduced as being a crazy homeless man who was convinced that he was a knight; clearly
lacking a true sense of reality. Parry desired

Image Of Death In Hamlet
In Hamlet, death is present at the three levels, the literal, the perceptual and the conceptual. At the
literal level, the skulls are not only seen but smelt olfactory imagery in Hamlet is closely related to the
theme of death. Indeed, when the king asks Hamlet about the corpse of Polonius, the sarcastic Prince
answers: if you find him not within this month, you shall nose him as you go up the stairs into the
lobby
(Hamlet, IV, iii, 36 38)
The king himself describes his murderous deeds as smelling to heaven. The image of rot is pervasive
in the play. The play, therefore, does not address sight and hearing alone. It also presents us with
odors. The odors of Hamlet vex the reader and the audience. Not only are they offensive, but also ...

traces of a past existence. They have two opposite layers of meaning. First, they represent death.
Second, they are the traces of a past life. Indeed, the identities Hamlet gives to the skulls are of people
who may or may not have lived once. Identity, therefore, is always related to life. The gravedigger
tells Hamlet that Ophelia is one that was a woman (Hamlet, V, I, 140). Hamlet himself says that his
father was a man (Hamlet, I, ii, 188). Gender disappears as one dies. Dead people are neither male nor

Theodore Roethke The Slough Analysis
The Slough, by Theodore Roethke, spoke to me in a way I could relate. Based on my experience, I felt
a sense of random reverie ending with a search for answers to timeless, unanswered questions.
Furthermore, I have a passion for nature and I like how the poet used association with flora and fauna
to provide a visual display among the confusion.
The other deciding factor was I found this poem easy to read at a nice steady pace with rhythm, rhyme
and minimal variations in pitch and volume required. The poet refers to himself in a third person;
therefore, leads me to believe he was pondering life within his thoughts, rather than actually speaking
aloud. The words came across as random thoughts, a daydream of sorts. Therefore, with just slight

Don Giovanni Character Analysis
Don Giovanni is an operatic character that plays a womanizer during the 17th century. This was a play
first performed in 1789, a successful creation of Mozart and DaPonte. During the play, Don Giovanni
represents a sociopath that is lead by his incredible weakness for women. This weakness leads him
into darkness, complete with seduction, and murder. Since the beginning, many people have seen Don
Giovanni as a hero but many others have considered him a villain. The actions of Don Giovanni are
not completely heroic neither are they totally villainous. But is noticeable that throughout the play he
is more a hero than a villain.
In the first act, Don Giovanni is rushing out from Donna Anna s room. She pursues him and calls for
help to arrest the man she says raped her. When she is calling for help her father, the Commendatore,
comes out and challenges Don Giovanni to a duel to revenge his daughter s honor. Don Giovanni won
the duel and now Donna Ana s father is dead. This particular scene is controversial in the play because
depicts Don Giovanni as a rapist and as a murder. But this is not clearly convincible. In the first place,
the woman is chasing him after he leaves the room which is odd since no woman would chase the man
that just raped her. Then the Commendatore was killed in a duel in which he was the challenger. A
duel is the fighting between two persons to fix their differences and usually, this kind of battles was
legal during the 17th century. Don Giovanni did not

Importance Of Guns And The Right To Carry Guns
Guns and the right to carry them is such a debatable topic in today s society. So many different people
have their opinions on how people should use their guns or where they can and can t carry them. They
have this misconception that guns are such a big problem and that they kill people, but in reality guns
are not the problem at all it is the people holding them. Even though guns can be dangerous, guns are
used for good more than bad. Getting a conceal carry permit is something that has very precise steps
to follow in order to obtain it. You are required to be at least 21 years of age. If for some reason you
are ineligible to purchase a firearm then you are no longer able to get the permit to conceal a handgun.
A person that has been convicted of a violent misdemeanor or drunkenness in the last three years will
be rejected if applied for a conceal carry permit. As you can see a lot goes into obtaining the permit to
be able to conceal a handgun. After a very thorough background check gets cleared for the applicant
the court may require proof that the applicant can demonstrate competence with a handgun. This
includes: completion of a firearm training course offered by the NRA, the state, or school (Virginia
Gun Laws). Also a lot more goes into it. Many choose to conceal carry instead of open carry for a
couple of different reasons. When you conceal a handgun nobody knows you have the gun. If a
criminal comes to rob a gas station that you are in and sees a handgun on your hip

Descriptive New York City
I remember the itchy, navy blue seat. It scratched my leg every time my skirt rode up. Except I was
too busy looking out the window to care. The clouds rolled outside the airplane, forming into different
shapes and sizes. I saw bird shaped clouds turn into trucks and book shape clouds turn into elephants.
My mother sat to the left of me and peered over me whenever she looked outside of the plane; for it
was her first time on a plane as well. We were flying to New York. Mama told me that people called
New York City The Big Apple. I didn t understand why New York was called that, but I never asked
anyone, I was too excited to land. Soon, a man s voice sounded out of nowhere, Everybody fasten

It was nothing like the airport in Iowa. The airport was packed with different people, and there were so
many different signs pointing to so many different places. Mama and I just looked for the exit signs.
When we got outside the air was cool and crisp. I heard lots of honks and car engines in the distance
and saw so many different people entering and leaving the airport with us. One thing that struck me
was the number of people awake at 3:00 am. Why were there so many cars on the streets? Why were
there so many lights on in the buildings? What were these people doing at this time in the morning? I
asked Mama this, and she said, Ha, I bet all of the other people awake at this hour are asking the same
question about us. I clutched my necklace tight. Mama got it for me when I was very little. It has a star
and a moon. I wear it every day. I looked at it very carefully while Mama was on the phone with the
person who is picking us up from the airport. I watched the people walk out of the sliding doors,
people of all different hair colors, eye color, and skin color. Most of my friends have dirty blonde hair
and brown eyes like me. I wondered about their lives, families, and

Actually the teamwork is the most area I would like to improve in myself, because I did not have used
to work with a group and I think that I produce better and even faster when I work by my own that
might be because of my last experience in teamwork, also maybe because of my shy personality. For
example, sometimes I get worried to propose a new idea to someone and he doesn t like it. However to
be honest in my BEST week experiences of the teamwork was very good and unexpected. They were
all collaborators except one person. After all I believe that I will deal with all the different kinds of
personalities in my career, so I must get to use to it. We worked on some activities that could improve
our teamwork. For example, we worked in a poster of team contracts which involve the team rules and
the consequences if these rules are broken. In our team contracts we wrote the points that we think it is
the most important, for instance: the team member must respect each other ideas and opinions.
Everyone should improve their own skills. And one of the most important thing that I learned was if
each member of the team used his skills the team will get a very good results at the end so I must not

Categories for The MAC Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks
The MAC Protocols for wireless sensor networks are divided into two categories:
1. Contention based: The Contention based protocols are used to avoid the hidden terminal problem.
But the problems with these are idle listening, collision avoidance, and overhearing. IEEE 802.11, S
MAC are examples of this category
2. Reservation based: TDMA protocols are based on reservation and scheduling. They have less
energy consumption compared to Contention based Protocols. Bluetooth is an example of TDMA
based protocol
A. IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function
IEEE 802.11(DCF) is widely used contention based protocol in wireless sensor networks. The DCF is

Besides there is possibility of re transmission of collided packets
The above three reasons are major sources for energy wastage in conventional protocols They are
avoided in Sensor MAC using two techniques: Periodic Sleeping and Adaptive Listening
Periodic Sleeping:
Node must first listen to their neighboring nodes before starting their own listen and sleep schedules
.There are two options for the Sensor Node
1. If the sensor node listens the schedule of any of the neighboring node ,then it becomes follower
2. If the sensor node doesn t listen to any schedule from the neighboring nodes then it frames its own
schedule and becomes Synchronizer. It broadcasts its own schedule
If the nodes don t aware of each other, Periodic Neighboring node discovery solves the problem
Advantages
Due to Periodic Sleeping there is Reduction in Energy Consumption
Disadvantages
Due to periodic sleeping increase in latency occurs
Adaptive Listening:
Adaptive Listening reduces the delay caused by Periodic Sleeping. In this technique, if the node
overhears its neighbor s transmission, it wakes up at the end of transmission for a short period of time.

Militarism Vs. Trump
Introduction
Following a decisive victory against Ted Cruz in the Indiana primaries, reality TV star and real estates
moghul Donald J Trump has secured his position as the presumptive republican nominee. In his last
white house correspondence dinner, Obama jokingly criticized the media for putting excessive focus
on Trump. According to Nick Timiraos (2016) article published in the Wall Street Journal, Obama
said, I want to show some restraint because I think we can all agree from the start he s gotten the
appropriate amount of coverage befitting the seriousness of his candidacy. The guy just wanted to give
his hotel business a boost, and now we are all praying that Cleveland makes it through July.

Abstract We would like to outline our opinions about the usability of biometric security systems. We
outline the position of biometrics in the current field of security in the first section of our paper. The
second chapter introduces a more systematic view of the process of biometric authentication a layer

Still no liveness testing or tamper resistance is required.
The biometric authentication is sufficient authentication.
A traditional authentication method as a sufficient authentication method is offered only in the case of
biometric system malfunction. Systems on level two offer a certain level of security and still remain
relatively cheap. Some of the easiest attacks are eliminated, but the systems still can be tampered with
or cheated with faked biometric characteristics.
C. Level 3 Intermediate systems
Level three systems already do have some kind of liveness test. Exposed components of the system
(typically the biometric input device) must be guarded or tamperresistant against moderate attacks.
The communication must be authenticated and encrypted. The biometric authentication is sufficient,
and the system never offers traditional authentication as a sufficient authentication method. Such
biometric systems will be able to resist moderate attacks.
Advanced tampering methods or advanced faked biometric characteristics, however, will still be able
to cheat the biometric systems.

Tet Offensive Research Paper
As 1967 drew to a close, it appeared that the U.S was gaining the upper hand in the Vietnam War. The
Tet Offensive of early 1968, however, began the steady decline of U.S fortunes in Vietnam, despite an
undeniable military victory. The Tet Offensive of early 1968 denoted the demise of American
confidence about the course of the Vietnam War. In the second half of 1967, General Westmoreland
made three treks home to the United States to brief President Lyndon Johnson on the advancement of
the war. He made a progression of open and private comments which painted an idealistic picture of
the circumstance in Vietnam. American troops were adjusting to the conditions, Westmoreland said;
the foe was debilitated and exhausted, and his theater of operations ... Show more content on

In earlier years, the occasion had been the event for a casual agreement in South Vietnam s long

Power Of The Free World
He thought regardless of each s own individual political outlook, it was un American not to serve. If
all people shared this distorted thought process, then we could never have won Second World War and
we would only have one uncle, not Uncle Sam, Uncle Adolf.
Eventually, looking back, he realized the war was based on the false pretense of the Domino theory
and the false doctrine of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. To explain, the domino theory asserted that if
one free nation fell to communism, many more would follow and, as per President Eisenhower, its
consequences would be incalculable to the free world . America, seeking to justify its title of protector
of the free world, fought the war with the aim to preserve a separate, independent, noncommunist
government in North Vietnam. The war was fully escalated following the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution,
which in essence, became the de facto authorization of military force in Vietnam until 1971. The Gulf
of Tonkin Resolution was issued after the attack of USS Maddox by North Vietnamese torpedoes.
Kennedy s claim that all of Southeast Asia would be under control of communists and under
domination of the Chinese has been largely discredited as by 1981 none of the South East Asian
countries had fallen victim communist guerillas. While historical evidence proved the domino theory
false, the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution seemed largely misguided from the outset; merely an excuse to
start war with the North Vietnamese.

First Triumvirate Essay
Cassus, Pompey, and Caesar all got together and made the first triumvirate because they all had claims
to the throne, and splitting power equally solved many disputes. However, the First Triumvirate
worked mostly behind the scenes. Crassus and Pompey both died, leaving Caesar in charge of all of
the Roman Empire. After Caesar was assassinated, Pompey and Cassus were both sent to war and
killed abroad. The Second Triumvirate was made of Octavian, Marc Antony, and Lepidus. These three
men were pretty much emperors and were given highest power. Marc Antony fell in love with

were held by the patricians, or the aristocrats. Several offices were open to the plebs, however.
Tribunes were officials elected to represent the plebians under the magistrates. The office of aedile
(the person who maintained public buildings and organized festivals) was also an option. A pleb could
also become a praetor (a general and mayor rolled into one) or a quaestor (a financial supervisor).
However, you couldn t just be elected into any given office with no experience. The cursus honorum
was a system that allowed you to advance through the ranks, kind of like how American presidents are
usually governors, then senators, and then elected president. However, success could be dangerous in
Roman politics. The Gracchi were two brothers who were both elected to be tribunes, and they tried to

the original plebian owners. Both brothers were assassinated for their

way everyone who wants to has the option to go listen to professional musicians. Whether it is the

  • 2. Essay about The Effects of Homelessness on Children Imagine a young child growing up, learning, and trying to further his or her life to obtain success in the future. For an everyday child this can be challenging, however everyday obstacles can be overcome. For thousands of children in the United States, this dream is almost impossible to achieve. These children are a part of the homeless population that is spread throughout the United States. Many times these individuals try to hide this major secret from the rest of the world, but homelessness is very prevalent among these youths today. Various problems occur in these peoples lives that others could not even begin to understand. Homelessness affects children in every stage of life physically, mentally, and emotionally. Homelessness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In today s society children becoming homeless and having to fend for themselves is wide spread but homelessness in families also tends to be common (Jewel 2). This issue affects the human population in a very grave way which leaves one out of every fifty children experiencing this immense epidemic (Crary 1). The current recession, has caused sixteen percent of homeless children to be present in our country today and with the economy worsening this statistic will increase (Kingsbury 1). Children of many ages are affected by these tremendous problems resulting from homelessness that have just become greater as time has passed. Homelessness leaves long lasting scars on these children (Crary 2). The burden places upon these people can influence every facet of their lives; from contraception to early adulthood (Hart Shegos 2). All stages of life are affected by this experience of homelessness and severe problems can be caused in every stage. Not only does homelessness occur after contraception but it starts affecting these children from before birth age. Due to many mothers in recent years being teenagers who ages are decreasing year by year, these pregnant mothers go through their nine month pregnancy without proper treatment or care (4). Fifty percent of homeless women versus fifteen percent of the general population have not had a prenatal visit in the first trimester of pregnancy (4). • 3. Unfulfilled Dreams Exposed in Hughes Harlem Essay Unfulfilled Dreams Exposed in Hughes s Harlem Most of us have dreams that we one day hope to fulfill. They could be little dreams that will take little time and effort to accomplish, or they could be big dreams that will take more time and energy to fulfill. Nevertheless, whether one s dream is as mundane as hitting the numbers or as noble as hoping to see one s children reared properly, each dream is equally important to the person who has it (Bizot 904). Each dream is also equally painful when it is taken away; or if we never have the opportunity to make the dream a reality. In the poem Harlem by Langston Hughes, the different emotions that people feel when a dream is deferred is presented through Hughes s unique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For some of the words, he uses the dictionary meaning, yet for others he uses the connotative meaning. When Hughes uses a word connotatively, he wants the reader to receive a deeper meaning than the dictionary definition would give. For example, the word deferred in Harlem means unfulfilled. The dictionary meaning, however, is to postpone. In the dictionary, postpone means will happen at a later date or time. However, the dreams that Hughes refers to are ones that will never come true. Hughes also uses the connotative meaning for the word fester (line 4). The dictionary meaning is to form pus, yet this definition does not seem strong enough for the emotion the word is trying to express. The word fester in the poem means to become a source of pain or anger. This is exactly what becomes of a person s deferred dream. It becomes painful because that dream never leaves the person s mind. The person might forget about it for a little while and go on with his or her life, but like most painful memories, it will pop up when the person least expects it to. Each line in the poem Harlem gives an imaginative description of what a person with a deferred dream can become. Since this poem does not define or give examples of the dream, we ll have to make up our own (901). Lines two and three ask, Does it dry up / like a raisin in the sun? We know that a ... • 4. Life Changing Moment In Life When reminiscing on my past I m able to recall the certain moments, which have led to a path where I find myself at a cross road. Searching through the databases of my mind, I m reminded of cherished memories, though I attempt to pinpoint the times in which I have been successful in my decision making; I cannot help but deliberate whether my past conveyed such a challenging decision. My future is unpredictable, and my choices will decide my prolonged existence; positive or negative I must act on them now, or else I will miss the train to my forthcoming. Through the life changing moments, which led to my admiration for the ones close to me; I have found what identifies me as an individual. Nonetheless, will it be enough for the rapid pace at which my future emerges? Life changing, it s a term to identify an event that will forever transform someone, and the life they are currently living; sounds self explanatory, though it isn t such a simple phrase. Considering the expression; life changing is watching a friend fight cancer, battling each day not knowing if she will get better. Moreover, Parents who are combating a recession, struggling to generate money with the profession they find themselves in; moving from house to house trying to stay joyful to a child who may not identify the extent of the situation. Trails such as these have caused my life to be significantly altered. However, these events are only a minor fraction of my narrative. For instance, I ve helped lead a movement against bullying, being triumphant with the results. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to represent my school at a World Leadership Conference, being able to express heartache, happiness, and love to individuals, some who have experienced horrible tragedies, was such an eye opening experience. These events in my life have erupt a fire in my soul, and striving to build upon each situation will only be beneficial for my future endeavors. Reflecting these life changing moments, I come to a realization that not all memories are so influential, but more of a comforting feeling. My family vacations to Walt Disney World helped bring imagination and inspiration inside of a young boy s mind. Playing on my childhood play set in our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Military Capability During Peacetime Innovation Resources, accurate innovation, political support, and privatized development are four crucial factors for enhancing military capability during peacetime innovation. Therefore, countries that effectively manage internal resources, and are funded through political support will often be at the forefront of military development. Moreover, accurate innovation is essential in ensuring that innovated technology aligns with the required capabilities to defend the nation. Therefore, countries with political support in achieving their military vision through accurate peacetime innovation, often have the upper hand in future military strength. Political support is the primary and foremost key component in developing successful innovation. Furthermore, military innovation cannot deviate from the strategic guidance of the nation, without reconstructing the defense strategy and military vision. Nonetheless, this reconstruction can occur if the current innovation and military development is defined upon outdated technology. Therefore, peacetime innovation is an opportunity to combat deficiencies as well as capability gaps, in order to maintain the competitive edge against potential enemies or threats to a nation. Most importantly, the cost of the innovation, training, and implementation must be feasible through funding and allocation with approval by bureaucrats. Spending outside ones means in this factor will result in both incomplete and inadequate innovation. 1 Political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Ned Kelly Cruelty Such is life These words is thought to be Ned Kelly s last before he was hanged for his crimes. But who was Ned Kelly? What did Ned do that he deserved to be hanged? Why was Ned important? To many Ned Kelly is seen as a hero, to others he was seen as a villain but in either event he changed what would later be Australia. Was Ned Kelly good or bad? Before we understand Ned s story we must understand Austraila before Ned. Australia was first inhabited by the Aborigonals (the indigenous people) and was left alone by the outside world until Europeans first had set sail for the country at around 1606. Between 1606 and 1770 an estimated 54 European ships had came to Australia. Most of these European ships were from the Dutch East India Company and for a small time became New Holland. It wasn t until August of 1770 that somebody officially claimed Australia his name was Lieutenant James Cook. Cook had claimed Australia in the name for King George the Third and renamed Australia to New South Wales. Once claimed, two fleets came to Australia the first had eleven ships with about 1,350 people on it. The second fleet had provided food and supplies that were badly needed but many on the second fleet were ill and many were near death. None of the people on the second fleet were helpful to the colonies. One thing to note is that many of the people getting sent to Australia were pervious convicts not only that, but in 1790 there was one woman to four men. This made making a new colony ... • 7. The Glass Menagerie Symbolism Essay The Importance of Symbolism in The Glass Menagerie Tom Wingfield is the narrator and a major character in Tennessee William s timeless play, The Glass Menagerie. Through the eyes of Tom, the viewer gets a glance into the life of his family in the pre war depression era; his mother, a Southern belle desperately clinging to the past; his sister, a woman too fragile to function in society; and himself, a struggling, young poet working at a warehouse to pay the bills. Williams has managed to create a momentous play using a combination of different elements, including symbolism. Three noteworthy examples of symbolism are the fire escape, a sense of hope and an escape both to the outside world and from it; the glass menagerie itself, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Tom, it is a means of escape from fire, the slow and implacable fires of human desperation (21). This is especially true of Tom s apartment, which is both literally and metaphorically a trap which Tom and his mother, at least, wish to escape (Bigsby 34). His mother, Amanda, is devastated after her daughter Laura s failure to cope in business college. This is a let down of Amanda s hopes of escaping because she has invested what little she had to free both herself and Laura (Bigsby 34). Amanda then becomes obsessed with finding Laura a gentleman caller so that she can marry and be supported as another means of escape, at least for Laura. When this caller finally comes, and it seems like it was meant to be, as they dance and kiss, he announces he is engaged, and dashes their hopes. The ever fragile Laura, temporarily drawn out of her dream world shell of her glass collection and the victrola, draws further back into herself. Now a terrible desperation fills the apartment, and Tom decides he must escape the suffocating environment to follow his own calling. The fire escape to him represents a path to the outside world. For Laura, the fire escape is exactly the opposite a path to the safe world inside, a world in which she can hide. Especially symbolic is Laura s fall when descending the steps to do a chore for her mother after leaving the security of the apartment. This fall suggests ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Examples Of Evil In Young Goodman Brown Young Goodman Brown: Good versus Evil Throughout Young Goodman Brown and other works of Nathaniel Hawthorne, the themes of sin and guilt constantly reoccur. Like many authors, Hawthorne used events in his life as a basis for the stories that he wrote. Hawthorne felt that ones guilt does not die with him/her but is rather passed down through the generations. Hawthorne s great great uncle was one of the judges during the Salem witchcraft trials. Hawthorne felt a great sense of guilt because of this. Hawthorne used a great deal of symbolism to depict what would come to be known as the subconscious. In this allegory he used symbolism to speak of a dreamlike process. Hawthorne used the characters and the events of the story to create a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This unexpectedly causes Young Goodman Brown to distrust things due to his unexpected decision of occurrence a having gone through either a dream or reality. In Young Goodman Brown, a figurative allegory is taking place. This traditional allegory is different from most others in that it derives from the symbolism of the plot, the setting, and the characters. The sub meaning of this story has social, political, and religious connotations. The characters in this story were often personifications of theoretical emotions such as faith, greed, and evil. The characters names such as Goodman, Faith, and Gookin are symbolic of religion and are at opposing ends of evil in the story. On the day of their wedding, Faith, Goodman Brown s wife was wearing pink ribbons in her hair. This was very symbolic of her being childlike and young. Also, everything that has to do with her is about her doubting herself and her relationship with Young Goodman Brown. It was important for Hawthorne to show the youth in these two characters. This was another religious reference. In the bible it states Who ever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not receive it at all. (Hawthorne, 635) This means that it is important to be like a child and be content without knowing everything else that is out there. You probably have no idea what significance the Gemini Seven mission has in American Space history. It was a record breaking mission at the time! The astronauts were in space for two weeks. It may not seem like very much now, but back in December of 1965 this was totally amazing! In order to understand why this event is so important you have to imagine what it was like back in 1965. No one had landed on the moon yet, so we were still in a space race with the Russians. At that time we had done something that the Russians had not accomplished, and in 1965 the thought of going to space was a lot more radical than it is now. Also while they were up in space they pioneered the first rendezvous with another space vessel. So in one mission, they and Gemini Six had broken two records! Lovell was launched into space for a second time on November 11, 1966. Edwin Aldrin accompanied him. On this mission Lovell and Aldrin circumnavigated the Earth fifty nine times in four days. What was special about this mission was the knowledge that was gained on walking in space. During their flight, Lovell took three space walks and learned very much about the restraints that are needed to perform a space walk. He paid very close attention to what type of restraints worked the best for certain jobs that needed to be done on the exterior of the spacecraft. While on one of his walks, Lovell took the ... • 11. The Issue of Nursing Shortage in the United States Nursing Shortages Introduction The shortage of nurses in the United States has been discussed often and has been fully reported in the media over the past several decades. There have been reports of shortages so critical that they actually have become ...a national security concern (Nelson, 2002). Moreover, the reasons for the shortages and potential solutions for this crisis are extremely well covered in the scholarly literature. In this paper, an article in the peer reviewed Health Marketing Quarterly points to how the nursing shortage can be addressed using marketing strategies. In addition, other scholarly articles will be reviewed in order to address the challenges and consequences that could result if this crisis is not addressed immediately. Marketing Nursing as a Profession An article in the Health Marketing Quarterly written by Mark Somers, Linda Finch, and Dee Birnbaum (university instructors in schools of management, nursing and business fields in the U.S.) asserts that the nursing shortages of highly trained nurses and of nursing faculty is close to a level that could be termed a crisis (Somers, et al, 2010). The expected gap between supply and demand will expand to more than a million nurses by 2020, Somers explains, which is twice the shortfall had had been projected just two years prior to this article s publication (292). Why the dramatic shortfall in nurses? There are at least ten influencing factors associated with this looming crisis, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Importance Of Mindfulness Based Strengths Practice Research Related to the Values in Action Inventory In a study done by Itai Ivtzan, Ryan M. Niemiec, and Charlie Briscoe (2016), they performed an experiment to show that Mindfulness Based Strengths Practice (MBSP) programs would improve the overall welfare of the lives of those who were part of the MBSP group compared to those who were in the no intervention control group. The hypothesis of this study was that, participants in the MBSP group would show higher levels of wellbeing, as predicted by higher scores on the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), Flourishing Scale (FS), the Positive Psychotherapy Inventory, and the Signature Strengths Inventory (SSI), compared to participants in the control group (Ivtzan, Niemiec, Briscoe, 2016). To perform this experiment, two groups of people were created from the general adult public. The first group was made up of twenty participants whom did not receive any intervention. The second group was made up of those that were put into the MBSP group. The MBSP group was made up of nineteen participants, which were later split into two groups, a group of nine and a group of ten. The MBSP groups performed one right after the other, each group was to complete eight weeks of intervention. This intervention was performed online and participants would log on and complete two hours of practices and exercises. • 13. Naivety In Perceval And Parry Naivety is a common theme that is represented throughout literature and film. Naïve characters have their hearts open for adventure and long for bravery, but their childlike mindset and ignorance of reality lead to distrust in their abilities by other characters. Regarding Perceval and Parry, it is evident that these characters fall under the naïve category of characters. Perceval was raised as a boy in the country: he lacked knowledge of the world beyond his realm and he was ignorant of knighthood. Despite his lack of knowledge, he desired to become the greatest knight. In comparison, the character Parry was introduced as being a crazy homeless man who was convinced that he was a knight; clearly lacking a true sense of reality. Parry desired ... At the literal level, the skulls are not only seen but smelt olfactory imagery in Hamlet is closely related to the theme of death. Indeed, when the king asks Hamlet about the corpse of Polonius, the sarcastic Prince answers: if you find him not within this month, you shall nose him as you go up the stairs into the lobby (Hamlet, IV, iii, 36 38) The king himself describes his murderous deeds as smelling to heaven. Based on my experience, I felt a sense of random reverie ending with a search for answers to timeless, unanswered questions. Furthermore, I have a passion for nature and I like how the poet used association with flora and fauna to provide a visual display among the confusion. The other deciding factor was I found this poem easy to read at a nice steady pace with rhythm, rhyme and minimal variations in pitch and volume required. The poet refers to himself in a third person; therefore, leads me to believe he was pondering life within his thoughts, rather than actually speaking aloud. • 20. Don Giovanni Character Analysis Don Giovanni is an operatic character that plays a womanizer during the 17th century. This was a play first performed in 1789, a successful creation of Mozart and DaPonte. During the play, Don Giovanni represents a sociopath that is lead by his incredible weakness for women. This weakness leads him into darkness, complete with seduction, and murder. Since the beginning, many people have seen Don Giovanni as a hero but many others have considered him a villain. The actions of Don Giovanni are not completely heroic neither are they totally villainous. But is noticeable that throughout the play he is more a hero than a villain. In the first act, Don Giovanni is rushing out from Donna Anna s room. She pursues him and calls for help to arrest the man she says raped her. When she is calling for help her father, the Commendatore, comes out and challenges Don Giovanni to a duel to revenge his daughter s honor. Don Giovanni won the duel and now Donna Ana s father is dead. This particular scene is controversial in the play because depicts Don Giovanni as a rapist and as a murder. But this is not clearly convincible. In the first place, the woman is chasing him after he leaves the room which is odd since no woman would chase the man that just raped her. Then the Commendatore was killed in a duel in which he was the challenger. A duel is the fighting between two persons to fix their differences and usually, this kind of battles was legal during the 17th century. Don Giovanni did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So many different people have their opinions on how people should use their guns or where they can and can t carry them. They have this misconception that guns are such a big problem and that they kill people, but in reality guns are not the problem at all it is the people holding them. Even though guns can be dangerous, guns are used for good more than bad. Getting a conceal carry permit is something that has very precise steps to follow in order to obtain it. You are required to be at least 21 years of age. If for some reason you are ineligible to purchase a firearm then you are no longer able to get the permit to conceal a handgun. A person that has been convicted of a violent misdemeanor or drunkenness in the last three years will be rejected if applied for a conceal carry permit. As you can see a lot goes into obtaining the permit to be able to conceal a handgun. After a very thorough background check gets cleared for the applicant the court may require proof that the applicant can demonstrate competence with a handgun. This includes: completion of a firearm training course offered by the NRA, the state, or school (Virginia Gun Laws). Also a lot more goes into it. If all people shared this distorted thought process, then we could never have won Second World War and we would only have one uncle, not Uncle Sam, Uncle Adolf. Eventually, looking back, he realized the war was based on the false pretense of the Domino theory and the false doctrine of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. To explain, the domino theory asserted that if one free nation fell to communism, many more would follow and, as per President Eisenhower, its consequences would be incalculable to the free world . America, seeking to justify its title of protector of the free world, fought the war with the aim to preserve a separate, independent, noncommunist government in North Vietnam. The war was fully escalated following the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which in essence, became the de facto authorization of military force in Vietnam until 1971. The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was issued after the attack of USS Maddox by North Vietnamese torpedoes. Kennedy s claim that all of Southeast Asia would be under control of communists and under domination of the Chinese has been largely discredited as by 1981 none of the South East Asian countries had fallen victim communist guerillas.
