The Nature And Development Of False Memories
False memories attracted significant attention of psychologists during many decades. People
usually rely on the memories despite the fact that previous researches showed people could be
unpredictably inaccurate in the recollection of detailed facts (Wilson Ross, 2003).The subject of
the false memories and the aspects that lead to development of the false memoryphenomena is very
imperative topic to study since almost every aspect of cognition such as problem solving, attention
or perception relies on memory to some extent. The quality of memory is also vital for some
practical reasons, because many important events influenced by reports from human witnesses. For
instance, the procedure with eyewitness testimonies in courts is still taking place although
scientists have proven the power of suggestive language can lead into memorising something that
did not happen in reality (Loftus, 1975). This point to the following question: Can we trust our
memory? In order to response to this question, this paper will evaluate the nature and
development of false memories, its connection to the basic memory processes, as well as practical
impact of false memories. A collective review on all above aspects will provide a comprehensive
explanation of the question that this paper poses.
What is a false memory?
The phrase false memory could refer to an extensive range of small memory inaccuracies from
misremembered word lists to quite significant errors like incorrect details of dramatic life

Mary Rowlandson And Benjamin Franklin
Every colonist that came to America had their own perceptions of its inhabitants. The majority of
these people believed the Native Americans were savages because their culture differed from the
colonists. To the colonists, everything needed to be proper. The way they dressed, whether or not
they went to church, or how they raised their children needed to be up to code. If not, their fellow
colonists looked differently at them. The natives were entirely different. Their goal was simply to
survive, and they were conducting survival the best way they knew how to. The differences
between the two cultures led to many severe problems. Mary Rowlandson and Benjamin Franklin
had two entirely different views of the Native Americans, based upon their encounters with them.
Mary Rowlandson believed the Native Americans were savage, blood thirsty creatures that were
either going to kill or be killed. In her story, she supports her claim by using vivid imagery of a
major event that took place during her lifetime. A very interesting quote from Rowlandson s
literature is It is a solemn sight to see so many Christians lying in their blood, some here, and
some there, like a company of sheep torn by wolves, all of them stripped naked by a company of
hell hounds, roaring, singing, ranting, and insulting, as if they would have torn our very hearts out
(Rowlandson). This quote uses an incredible amount of imagery and allows the reader to see just
how Rowlandson feels about the natives.

Un s Failure In Rwanda
Realists claim that the UN mission s failure in Rwanda proves their point about the inherent
weakness of international institutions. Do you agree? Why or why not?
Over the 100 day period from April 7th to mid July 1994 500,000 1,000,000 Tutsi natives were
murdered by the Hutu population of Rwanda (Wikipedia Rwandan Genocide). This horrific event in
human history is indeed categorized as genocide. What was the reason for the United Nations
inaction in responding to Rwanda? Is the structural realist right in saying that in a world of anarchy
and state sovereignty states must provide for their own defense and protection? Are the realist
claims right that the Rwanda genocide proves the inherent weakness of international institutions
like the UN?
Cars do not kill people, people kill people. This principle can be applied to the fact that international
institutions do not kill people the people who run them do. The overall idea of international
institutions is a great one. However, the people who help support the organization are not always
there when they are needed. Even though there are other nations who support the UN, the U.S.A is
the one of the main contributors to international institutions thus making them the power most
responsible. The United States ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Romeo Dallaire, the UN general during the Rwandan genocide, asked for U.N help many times.
Unfortunately his attempts for help were denied, because his plead for help went against the
original mandate for being there in Rwanda in the first place. The mandate was that the peace
keepers were supposed to keep the peace not make peace. My personal opinion was not that the
international institutions are weak, but that the affiliated parties responsible in those international
institutions are. The inaction of the United States in Rwanda has been the result of an entire native

Birth Interval
The fit of Model~II shows that both the linear and squared effects of the maternal age at first
birth are significant, which indicates that initially the risk of next birth increases as the mother s
age at first birth increases and after a certain age at first birth, this risk starts decreasing. The
estimated age at the first birth corresponding to the maximum risk of the next birth are 17.58,
17.83, and 18.08 years for 2004, 2007, and 2011, respectively. Parity is found to be significant and
the risk of the next birth decreases as parity increases.
The birth interval tends to be significantly longer for higher educated mothers compared to mothers
with education primary or less, which indicates that maternal education is an important determinants

Mothers with one child (boy or girl) are more likely to have next birth compared to the mothers
with a balanced number of children (one girl and one boy) over the study period. For the three
surveys, mothers with one boy (girl) have 17% (28%) more likelihood of the next birth
compared to the mothers with one girl and one boy. There is no significant difference in the
likelihood of next birth between mothers with two boys, and that of with one girl and one boy.
However, mothers with two girls are more likely to have shorter intervals compared with the
mothers with a boy and a girl (HR: 1.089). Moreover, a significant interaction between family
composition and survey year describes the change in the birth spacing behavior of mothers having
different number of children relative to the balanced number of children over time. The interaction
suggests that the mothers with one child (boy or girl) and two girl children still have shorter birth
interval, though the likelihood is decreasing over the years.
In all the models considered above, it has been found that the survival status of the index child has
a significant effect on the likelihood of having next child. Effect of child survival status on the
timing of births is in the expected direction, and mothers with previous children alive has 60%
less likelihood of next birth compared to the mothers who lost their previous child (Model~II). A
significant interaction between the survival status of the previous child and survey year reveals
that the effect of previous child survival on birth spacing decreases over

Starwood Swot
SWOT Analysis:
Strengths:
Starwood has created a brand name for itself worldwide and has been able to gain a high number
of loyal customers. The group has provided good service to customers and has received a number
of positive feedbacks from the customers. The popularity of the group is seen clearly by its ranking
in the Worldwide Top 10 hotels.
Starwood has over 897 hotels worldwide which shows the large operational scale. Starwood has
grown by 3.0% in one year (in Rooms) and this shows how rapidly the company is expanding and
now has almost half the number of rooms as its biggest competitor (Intercontinental HG 556,246
rooms vs. Starwood .265,598 rooms as per Table 1) (Hotel Online, 2007).

There is a major growth possible in the developing countries (Ferguson and Hlavinka, 2006). This
would help them improve market presence and also help them spread their brand far and wide
across the world. The travel and tourism industry is a booming one here and the company will be
able to make its mark in the area.
The group has large opportunities to get into franchising with third party to spread the brand. Also
opening of restaurants would help them create more public awareness and help the brand be
popularized (Ferguson and Hlavinka, 2006).
The business travel that was affected by the drop of the US markets can now be recovered and
improved. This would open up avenues for the Element hotels that specifically deal with business
travelers.
Also a small part of Starwood s revenues are earned from resort ownership. This now is set for
rapid growth, which should also help increase the revenues.
Threats:
Starwood has shown a good growth rate of 3.0%, according to figures in table 1. However
competitors growth rate is a threat to the group as well. In table 1 Hilton has shown a growth of
5.30% increase in rooms in one year, this could cause a major threat to the group.
As mentioned above, the company has over 50% of its operations in US, this makes it very
dependent on the US markets and adverse happening in the markets would also affect the company

Other flaws in big organic are discussed, painting a picture of a feel‐good movement that

perceives substantial flaws in the system, such as the fact that it is as non‐sustainable as typical
industrial food production, but at the same time he seems to argue that it is at least a step in the
right direction. Pollan s position on small organic is much less equivocal. He spends a substantial
section of the book detailing his visit to a small organic grass farm. Although Pollan does his best
to maintain a journalistic, neutral view throughout the book, it is clear that he was captivated by
the work being done by the grass farmers. Pollan shows that the most important crop to these
farmers is in fact the numerous varieties of grass, which form the foundation of the life cycle on
the farm. These farmers work to farm in a sustainable, natural way that closely resembles the
symbiosis of nature. In this section, Pollan provides a fascinating look at the evolved relationships
between different species of plants and animals, and how these relationships can be utilized to
create a sustainable farming system. Although Pollan is clearly enamored with such small
grass‐based farming, he also recognizes the near impossibility of implementing such farming on
a large scale. For example, the higher costs

Three Different Types Of Ischemic Stroke
A stroke is a Brain attack that can happen to anyone at any time. This attack occurs when the
blood flow to an area of the brain is cut off. Many may ask the question what causes a stroke. A
stroke is caused when the blood flow to an area of the brain is cut off the brain cells are deprived of

Theme Of War In A Separate Peace
The beginning of a friendship is the beginning of keenness, jealousy, and often times hatred. One
may become naive in the course of friendship and never realize by the end that a friend may
become an enemy. In A Separate Peace by John Knowles this is just the case, a friendship that
consists of two complete polar opposites, Gene and Finny, one athletic the other a brainiac. Gene
and Finny go to Devon School and through thick and thin these two have stuck together, however
during the summer into junior year their relationship hits some turbulence. John Knowlesembodies
the reality of warwithin the relationship of Gene and Finny, as well as, how the fear of war,
surroundings of war, and violence can affect several relationships.

a blurred line between what was good and what was meant to be good, but ended with major
consequences. Knowles here draws a point that conflicts in oneself can affect what is occurring
externally, because of ignorance the consequences extended beyond reach.
Furthermore, Gene does not simply see Finny as a friend but a partner in crime. Finny trapped me
again in his strongest trap, that is, I suddenly became his collaborator ( Knowles 1959). Gene and
Finny are allies, it is them against the rest of the world, Knowles is highlighting the fact that
although these two are friends Finny can manipulate Gene in any which way he chooses making
them moreso enemies. Gene is blinded by Finny s wit and charming manner, but the surroundings
in Devon have an equally heavy effect on their relationship. ii. Devon School is surrounded by

The Process of Digestion
The Process of Digestion
Over the course of time there have been many difficult questions and theories about everyday
life. Using physiology amp; chemistry, those questions have been able to be answered. From the
mixture of gases in the air we breathe to the organic substance of plastic or paper, chemistry can
be seen everywhere. However, most people mistook the power of chemistry in our own bodies.
How is it that a simple slice of bread, once consumed, can turn into fuel for the human body? Using
the digestive system and its many organs through the process of digestion and metabolism is how
our bodies receive the energy it needs to continue on throughout the day and the rest of our lives.

Amino acids and fatty acids are mainly where we get our energy from. The whole process starts
when we eat and our metabolism breaks down the food. The amino acids and fatty acids are
absorbed into the blood where once they attach to a cell, they are then able to speed up the
chemical reactions taking place while the amino and fatty acids are monitoring the reactions in
the cell some energy is released. This energy can be stored in the body until it is needed (Online
School Edition, 2011). There are two forms of metabolism called anabolism and catabolism.
Anabolism is storing energy and maintaining cells while catabolism is all about making energy
so that each cell has a specific amount to function properly (Ballard, 2003). The body s
metabolism is made up of many reactions that produce heat or a calorie. A calorie is a basic unit
of heat that measures how much energy a fixed proportion of food brings into the body. Calories
are used to regulate the fat in our bodies too. If a person consumes too much calories then the
calories will turn into fat. The process of metabolism in each person s body is very unique and
different. Some metabolisms run slow, which results in less calories burned and others burn rather
quickly, which results in fewer calories (McKenzie, 2010). Whatever the rate of metabolism, many
can agree that this process is diverse and complicated, but also very fundamental to everyday life.

Pros And Cons Of The Grange Parties
The Grange defined itself as non partisan. However, as Grange membership boomed in the 1870s,
Midwestern and western Grangers moved toward political action. New political parties emerged in

state laws, most dating to 1872 1874, were usually called Granger laws. When the constitutionality
of such regulation was challenged, the Supreme Court ruled, in Munn v Illinois (1877), that

The Protagonists In The Last Of The Mohicans
The characters in The Last of The Mohicans; specifically Hawkeye, Uncas, and Chingachgook,

like Chingachgook; but I seen people who are viewed as supporting characters in a way.
Hawkeye was given advice from Chingachgook to listen, so Hawkeye won t hear a lie. I view
Hawkeye as a man who would listen to advice for a better path to follow that is best for not only
himself, but for his group. I watched a movie with a character who was constantly nervous, worried,
and overthinks his situations. The main character then has made a terrible mistake by leading a

Possible Causes Of Jealousy In Relationship
Possible causes of jealousy and its effects on a relationship
One of the most authentic causes of jealousy is unhealthy comparisons. By human nature people
are often comparing things and one another.
Insecurity There is no greater source of jealousy in a relationship than insecurity, which is a
result of inferiority complex or lack of self confidence or having low self esteem. An insecure
person believes that he or she is not good enough; they assume that everyone else is better than
they are and are therefore easily intimidated by other people s success, happiness, brilliance,
possession or class. Insecurity which can arise as a result of peer pressure or unbalanced societal
expectations or judgment causes people to become vulnerable to ... Show more content on

Jealousy is a sign that something is seriously wrong about your relationship. And most often it is
not about your partner but rather about you. Do you have trust issues? Do you have a low self
esteem? Do you feel the need to control your partner s whereabouts and actions? All these things
will do more damage than good to your relationship.
Nobody wants a jealous lover. Jealousy will simply sap the energy and beauty out of your
relationship. According to Eharmony.com Jealousy is all about trying to restrict, manipulate, and
monitor another person s behavior and choices. Look out if your relationship is increasingly filled
with questions such as, Where were you? Why were you talking to him? Who sent you that text
message? You heard from that person on Facebook again?
A relationship thrives on freedom the freedom to grow and develop, to be authentic and genuine, to
pursue new opportunities. Unfounded jealousy is a stranglehold sure to suffocate any romantic
relationship. Wanta lasting, healthy love relationship? Make sure both partners have the space,

Follow The Drinking Gourd Analysis
Follow the Drinking Gourd by H. B. Parks is one of the hundreds of slave spirituals. Slaves
worked long and demanding hours, faced physical punishments, lived in a crude one room log
cabin with few furnishings, wear shabby clothing, were highly susceptible to deadly diseases, and
eat a diet with limited fresh foods (Nash 2017, 239). Their lives were burdensome. To help cope
with and make sense of their lives slaves came together to form a community with its own culture
distinct from that of their masters. A key element of this culture was spirituals. Spirituals not only
helped slaves understand their situation, but they also severed as a release from their suffering.

this occurs in early to mid April (Harriet Tubman Historical Society). Another lyric in verse one

Underground Railroad conductor named Peg Leg Joe, a former sailor whose right leg was
amputated, who aided runaway slaves to reach the banks of the Ohio River by marking trees
and other landmarks with either the outline of a human left foot or a circle for a right foot

signs provided by nature. It states in verse two the riva s bank am a very good road / the dead trees

suggests that if the runaway, lost sight of the Big Dipper or was unable to locate the marking left

Thirdly, infrastructure is one thing that plays a big role in anybody s life. Like many people say, a

Four Rules to Being Short
Rule #1: Do not EVER try to reach for something high if you can just barely touch it with your
fingertips. I say this because you ll have to stretch as much as you can and eventually you ll feel
like you pulled something in your foot. Trust me, if this happens to you, then it will take a while
for your foot to stop hurting so if need be, climb or use a step stool. It doesn t have to be a certain
thing. Use a chair or wood block maybe. As long as you can step up on it, reach what you need,
and not have a fear of falling over then it s a step stool. Now, don t go about stepping on just
anything. Don t even try to put all your weight on something that might break under you. I don t
even need to tell you the consequences on that. Either you already know it, or you can figure it
out on your own. Reaching things in upper cabinets presents a unique set of challenges. Have
you ever tried climbing on the counter at 6:30 in the morning? It s a death trap waiting to
happen, but if you re short and hungry, you ll take your chances. First off, you have to jump up
and be able to hold yourself while you lift your legs and plant them under you so you sit on your
knees. This is so that you can elevate yourself if you still can t reach what you want. Obviously,
opening the cabinet door is tricky because you re right in front of it so you have to be careful
about how you bend so there is room to open it up. At this point, you have a high risk of falling
backwards so make sure

The disproportionate rates of poverty among African americans has continued to be a persistent
social problem that the United States faces. The purpose of this article is to examine how poverty
has been approached in the media, specifically on the opinion pages of American newspaper.
Poverty is often explained in three different ways. The first explanation is blaming the person for
ending up in poverty. As people often associate poverty with a lack of responsibility and it has also
been noted that poverty is blamed on the poor when raceis involved. As the media shows the poor
are frequently the minorities and the African Americans, even though most welfare recipients are
white. The next explanation is the culture of poverty theory. The founder of this theory has said even

artist wanted the people looking at the paintings to feel like they were right there of what was

The artist used colors to portray different objects in real life. For example, the black was used to

Dance Monologue
For as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with dance, especially ballet. As a
child I would stand in front of the TV, watching ballerinas in tutus twirl across the stage, attempting
to copy their leaps and pirouettes. I dreamed about the possibility of that dancer being me one day.
I had no idea how much that dream would eventually shape my life.
In sixth grade, I began ballet. I had no idea how challenging ballet could be, but I also had no idea
how much I would grow to love it. And that love is what gave me the determination to keep
growing, and keep advancing, no matter how hard it got.
Once I entered high school I would often spend 20+ hours a week at my dance studio teaching
classes, taking as many classes as I could, and training by myself whenever the studio was open. I
joined a dance performance company, and each year I trained for the Royal Academy of Dance
dance examinations. Ballet became a huge part of my life, and it taught me many more lessons than
just how to pliГ© or pirouette. It taught me determination, commitment, and what it means to

harder it became? This is a lesson that has shaped the person I am today, even outside of the dance
room. I always want to be someone who gives one hundred percent to everything I set my mind to,

The Pros And Cons Of Dystopia
Dystopia is a fictional genre of literature which represents a dark pessimistic image of a society
marked by oppression, inequity, fear and dehumanization. Dystopia can be described as anti
Utopia as it defies the fundamental aspects of Utopia. The word Utopia means (good place) while
Dystopia means (The no good place). Professor Gregory Claeys explains the difference between the
two terms Dystopiais usually supposed to be an inverted, mirrored or negative version of utopia, the
imaginary bad place as opposed to the imaginary good place (Claeys). Moreover, Dystopia is
defined by The Oxford Companion to English Literature Dictionary as a term coined to convey the
opposite of utopia: the dystopian mode, which projects an unpleasant or catastrophic... Show more

The back story and the description of the society depend on whether the dystopia is futuristic or
post apocalyptic. In the futuristic dystopia, the back story explains how the society became
technologically advanced and describes how technology is an essential part of peoples lives. As
for the post apocalyptic dystopia, the back story describes a climatic or nuclear disaster that
occurred which has led to the loss of a massive number of the population. In both dystopias, there
is a face of power, usually the government, that establish the rules and keeps order in check. The
dystopian society is divided into two classes: a class that represents the power and a submissive
class that represents the common people. Julia Gerhard proposes in Control and Resistance in the
dystopian novel that the class of the common people can be further divided according to their social
function which the government

Native Americans in Late 19th Century
Native Americans in the late 19th century The reservations system is quite a complex matter and
understanding the consistency and membership of the reservations can be hard, depending on the
particular issue being handled. It is worth noting however that all the Indians born in the USA
are citizens and are subject to federal and tribal laws though not generally to the state laws. The
federal law limits their self governance hence they do not retain the all powers. They are endowed
with the power to control the land use and ownership, execute their legal system (though under the
supervision of the federal government particularly on criminal issues) as well as raise the local
taxes. According to American Indians Cultural Network (2000), the federal reservations are about
300 in number and most are in the West with 20 state reservations mainly in the East. The
reservations have a history that dates back to the 1840s and were inhabited by the Plains Indians.
They were basically used to confine the Plains Indians hence have an easier time controlling the
inhabitants. Once confined within this stretch of worthless infertile land, they were no longer a
threat to the white settlers and by 1900s the entire population of Plains Indians was almost
decimated. The federal reservations policy came up from the system that was referred to as the
Permanent Indian Frontier policy that was implemented in 1830 the followed by the Indian
Removal Act within the same year. Bearing the

Messias Performance Art Analysis
How does Nando Messias utilise gender in his performance art, incorporating drag and queerness to
expose his stimuli and being a homosexual?
In this essay, I will be focusing on the performance artist Nando Messias and his artwork. Messias
is an abject artist who concentrates on performance art, theatre and dance. (Nando Messias,
Undated) His performances combine beautiful images with a fierce critique of gender, visibility and
violence. (Nando Messias, Undated). Gender, drag culture and queerness plays a significant part
in Messias performance art and as an artist, he utilises this to create an impact for the spectator and
to represent life events and themes appearing in society. As an artist, he portrays the female body in
a male body creating a non binary gender. Such historical perspectives shared a theoretical
assumption that woman could be understood along a gendered binary (male/female, man/woman,
masculine/feminine) (McCann, 2016, 227) Messias dresses in drag and uses theatrical and
conventional female identifying elements to highlight the female body, highlighting the sissiness
that he creates in his pieces for his character. The term sissy boy in McInnes s view is working the
tensions of gender recognition and destabiliz[ing] the formation of ordered masculinity and
femininity . (Davies, 2013, 124) Messias utilises both masculinity and femininity in his works due
to his drag identity but exploits his feminine identity further. His work relates clearly

Fifty seconds after reaching their assigned altitude, Captain Loft required First Officer Stockstill
s assistance in removing the nose wheel indicator light assembly to investigate the likeliness of a
blown light bulb and hence, instructed him to engage the autopilot at 2000 feet. For the next
eighty seconds the plane maintained level flight. Then it dropped one hundred feet (30 m), and
then again flew level for two more minutes, after which it began a descent so gradual it could not
be perceived by the crew. In the next seventy seconds, the plane lost only 250 feet (76 m), but
this was enough to trigger the altitude warning C chord chime located under the engineer s
workstation. The engineer (or Second Officer) had gone below deck following Loft s
instructions, and there was no indication by the pilot s voices recorded on the cockpit voice

at half its assigned altitude. The CVR recorded the last few moments of conversation between the
crew, acknowledging the change in altitude: Stockstill: We did something to the altitude. Loft:
What? Stockstill: We re still at 2,000 feet, right? Loft: Hey what s happening here? (NTSB, 1973)

Prayer In Schools Has Been A Much Talked About Debate In
Prayer in schools has been a much talked about debate in America over the past half century.
Conservatives, trying to regulate the religious freedoms of Americans , have tried numerous times
to pass amendments that allow private student led prayer in the classrooms(Baik, 243). Liberals,
realizing that private prayeris and has always been legal, try to keep the balance between church
state separation as it is. This has kept the political issue of religionat a boil and confused many
people on the actual issue of coercive school prayer. The banning of school praying is a major
assurance of individual freedom and must be cultivated.
The United States has long been divided on the issue of prayer in school. From the very beginning

Schempp , the Court ruled that there could be no teacher led mandatory prayer in a public
classroom. Later, in Engle v. Vitale, it expanded its ruling to include devotionary Bible readings. It
encouraged Bible readings, however, in comparative religion classes, and the study of how the
Bible has affected history and literature in each of these classes. State Supreme Courts have made a
few rulings on the constitutionality of student led prayer at voluntary school events such as
ballgames and graduation ceremonies, but there has been no national outline on what practices are
legal and illegal. Also, moments of silence are currently under debate, with the court ruling usually
hinging on whether or not the moment is implemented to encourage prayer(ACLU).
There are many practical reasons why people argue for the integration of prayer into the curriculum
of public schools. The most commonly cited reason for this is that children need the moral and
ethical guidance that religion taught in the classroom will provide them. While almost everyone
agrees that religious indoctrination is the responsibility of the parents, since many parents are seen
as neglecting the duty to sufficiently teach their children, Christianity must be taught in public
schools. Prayer in school helps build every child s morality helping them to make the right decision
and better choices, it gives them exposure to other religions and promotes tolerance and
understanding. It also gives children chances

The Vietnam War On The Movie, Platoon, As A Portal
Platoon
The Vietnam War was one the most controversial wars in America. This paper is meant to
examine the Vietnam War using the movie, Platoon, as a portal. Analyzing scenes in the movie
and how they pertain to the films ideology. The paper will look at the struggles presented in war
from the outlook of the grunt. It will look at the pro war and anti war view of propaganda. It will
look at the good and evil, right and wrong, conflicts in the film. How do these messages reflect
the reality of the war? Is the agenda to create a vision of reality or is the film simply a form of
entertainment?
The film, Platoon, is the perspective of the VietnamWar in 1967 through the eyes of Chris Taylor
(Charlie Sheen). Chris leaves school to enlist in combat and once he starts he quickly questions
his decision. He has two officers, Sergeant Barnes (Tom Berenger) and Sergeant Elias (Willem
Dafoe). The two officers have different views; Barnes, who wants revenge because he believes that
the VC (Viet Cong) ground troops are being safeguarded by a local village, and Elias, who has a
more peaceful, less violent demeanor. Tension builds between Barnes and Alias until Barnes shoots
a villager in the head, Elias intervenes preventing annihilation of the village inhabitants. This event
causes the platoon to split into two camps which pit against each other, causing conflict with the
enemy and the men in the platoon.
The film will be examined using the ideological film theory. The film

Physician assisted death for the terminally ill in US
Student Name
Introduction
In United States, Euthanasia is a highly controversial subject among politicians, legislators and
society members. Just the mention of this issue polarizes different groups on opposing ends as
some either support it and others want to keep it illegal and unlawful(Steck, Egger, Maessen,
Reisch, Zwahlen, 2013). The main ideology that is discussed in the situation is whether an
individual has a right on his own life in cases of terminal illness where there is no way of
recovering according to medical professionals. The argument that is for the provision of assisted
death for terminally ill can be understood by other names of Euthanasia which are mercy killing and
dignity death. These names are given to the practice of physical assisted death as it allows the
terminally ill patients to avoid the extreme pain, constant awareness of certain death and
humiliating medical conditions that are part of some terminal illnesses. In this report, the present
state of Euthanasia has been evaluated in context of United States. The goal is to look for the
existing political and legislative environment for and against Euthanasia and identify an appropriate
solution.
Present State of Euthanasia
In most of the western countries, the legislators are no longer keeping the rights of people to
decide whether or not they want assisted death if

The Functions of the Limbic System
The Limbic system compromises of detailed structures which control and regulate major affective
activities such as fright, anxiety, and happiness. Further functions of the limbic system are motor
functions, sensory systems, hormones and memory which all contribute to the control of affective
states. These factors are controlled and regulated by different structures of the limbic systemand
work inter relatedly. The central components of the limbic system compromise of the limbic cortex,
hippocampus, amygdala, fornix and mammillary bodies. The limbic system also currently involves
cortical and non cortical brainstructures such as diencephalon, brainstem and the forebrain. The
diencephalon compromises of the thalamus and the hypothalamus, the forebrain includes the basal
ganglia and amygdala while the function of the brainstem is to form a connection between the
cerebrumand the spinal cord. (Hendelman, 2000). The origin of the limbic system stemmed from
the evolutionary period. This is because, during the evolutionary period, brains have developed in a
structure that enables mammals to adapt to their environment. For example the forebrain in
mammals has evolves to fulfil this function of adaptability of behaviour to the external world
(Maclean cited in Hendelman, 2000). Therefore, this has resulted in a different functions and roles
of the limbic system in terms of adapting to environments such as fright and how to react in fearful
situations. However, the functions of

Samuel Sewall s And William Byrd Journal Analysis
Living distinct lives in the New World, two American authors present striking pictures of their
struggles in the land of opportunity. Samuel Sewall s and William Byrd II s diaries provide a
glimpse into the everyday routines of early American settlers. An accomplished judge, businessman,
and printer of Massachusetts Bay, Sewall writes about the developments around him. Likewise,
Byrd, a successful planter, slave owner, and author from Charles City County, Virginia, leaves
valuable information concerning his routines in his diary. Even though these two men share the
same nation, coastland, and English heritage, their stories are remarkably unique. Filled with death,
despair, difficulties and discomfort, Sewall s diary reflects a dark and

Fiona s True Love In The Film Shrek
In the film Shrek, Fiona was waiting for her brave knight to rescue her so they may have their
true love s first kiss. Yet, Fiona does not find that. She soon realizes that her brave knight or true
love, is an ogre named Shrek. She planned how it might have gone but it went completely
opposite of that. Feminists like Wollstonecraft and Woolf wouldn t approve of the way Fiona is
portrayed in the film. In the film, Fiona is cursed with turning into an ogre at sun down until she
receives a true love s kiss. Fiona is portrayed as a princess waiting for her knight to kiss her so
the curse may be broken. Her character is made to rely on a man to fix her problem, and make
everything right. That is one thing Wollstonecraft and Woolf were against.

  • 2. The Nature And Development Of False Memories False memories attracted significant attention of psychologists during many decades. People usually rely on the memories despite the fact that previous researches showed people could be unpredictably inaccurate in the recollection of detailed facts (Wilson Ross, 2003).The subject of the false memories and the aspects that lead to development of the false memoryphenomena is very imperative topic to study since almost every aspect of cognition such as problem solving, attention or perception relies on memory to some extent. The quality of memory is also vital for some practical reasons, because many important events influenced by reports from human witnesses. For instance, the procedure with eyewitness testimonies in courts is still taking place although scientists have proven the power of suggestive language can lead into memorising something that did not happen in reality (Loftus, 1975). This point to the following question: Can we trust our memory? In order to response to this question, this paper will evaluate the nature and development of false memories, its connection to the basic memory processes, as well as practical impact of false memories. • 3. Mary Rowlandson And Benjamin Franklin Every colonist that came to America had their own perceptions of its inhabitants. The majority of these people believed the Native Americans were savages because their culture differed from the colonists. To the colonists, everything needed to be proper. The way they dressed, whether or not they went to church, or how they raised their children needed to be up to code. If not, their fellow colonists looked differently at them. The natives were entirely different. Their goal was simply to survive, and they were conducting survival the best way they knew how to. The differences between the two cultures led to many severe problems. Mary Rowlandson and Benjamin Franklin had two entirely different views of the Native Americans, based upon their encounters with them. Mary Rowlandson believed the Native Americans were savage, blood thirsty creatures that were either going to kill or be killed. In her story, she supports her claim by using vivid imagery of a major event that took place during her lifetime. A very interesting quote from Rowlandson s literature is It is a solemn sight to see so many Christians lying in their blood, some here, and some there, like a company of sheep torn by wolves, all of them stripped naked by a company of hell hounds, roaring, singing, ranting, and insulting, as if they would have torn our very hearts out (Rowlandson). This quote uses an incredible amount of imagery and allows the reader to see just how Rowlandson feels about the natives. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Un s Failure In Rwanda Realists claim that the UN mission s failure in Rwanda proves their point about the inherent weakness of international institutions. Do you agree? Why or why not? Over the 100 day period from April 7th to mid July 1994 500,000 1,000,000 Tutsi natives were murdered by the Hutu population of Rwanda (Wikipedia Rwandan Genocide). This horrific event in human history is indeed categorized as genocide. What was the reason for the United Nations inaction in responding to Rwanda? Is the structural realist right in saying that in a world of anarchy and state sovereignty states must provide for their own defense and protection? Are the realist claims right that the Rwanda genocide proves the inherent weakness of international institutions like the UN? Cars do not kill people, people kill people. This principle can be applied to the fact that international institutions do not kill people the people who run them do. The overall idea of international institutions is a great one. Mothers with one child (boy or girl) are more likely to have next birth compared to the mothers with a balanced number of children (one girl and one boy) over the study period. For the three surveys, mothers with one boy (girl) have 17% (28%) more likelihood of the next birth compared to the mothers with one girl and one boy. There is no significant difference in the likelihood of next birth between mothers with two boys, and that of with one girl and one boy. However, mothers with two girls are more likely to have shorter intervals compared with the mothers with a boy and a girl (HR: 1.089). Moreover, a significant interaction between family composition and survey year describes the change in the birth spacing behavior of mothers having different number of children relative to the balanced number of children over time. The interaction suggests that the mothers with one child (boy or girl) and two girl children still have shorter birth interval, though the likelihood is decreasing over the years. In all the models considered above, it has been found that the survival status of the index child has a significant effect on the likelihood of having next child. Effect of child survival status on the timing of births is in the expected direction, and mothers with previous children alive has 60% less likelihood of next birth compared to the mothers who lost their previous child (Model~II). Other flaws in big organic are discussed, painting a picture of a feel‐good movement that provides few benefits. Pollan s final position on big organic is somewhat unclear. He clearly perceives substantial flaws in the system, such as the fact that it is as non‐sustainable as typical industrial food production, but at the same time he seems to argue that it is at least a step in the right direction. Pollan s position on small organic is much less equivocal. He spends a substantial section of the book detailing his visit to a small organic grass farm. Although Pollan does his best to maintain a journalistic, neutral view throughout the book, it is clear that he was captivated by the work being done by the grass farmers. Pollan shows that the most important crop to these farmers is in fact the numerous varieties of grass, which form the foundation of the life cycle on the farm. These farmers work to farm in a sustainable, natural way that closely resembles the symbiosis of nature. In this section, Pollan provides a fascinating look at the evolved relationships between different species of plants and animals, and how these relationships can be utilized to create a sustainable farming system. Although Pollan is clearly enamored with such small grass‐based farming, he also recognizes the near impossibility of implementing such farming on a large scale. For example, the higher costs ... The amino acids and fatty acids are absorbed into the blood where once they attach to a cell, they are then able to speed up the chemical reactions taking place while the amino and fatty acids are monitoring the reactions in the cell some energy is released. This energy can be stored in the body until it is needed (Online School Edition, 2011). There are two forms of metabolism called anabolism and catabolism. Anabolism is storing energy and maintaining cells while catabolism is all about making energy so that each cell has a specific amount to function properly (Ballard, 2003). The body s metabolism is made up of many reactions that produce heat or a calorie. A calorie is a basic unit of heat that measures how much energy a fixed proportion of food brings into the body. Similarly, in verse two this spiritual suggests that slaves follow the river and look for signs provided by nature. It states in verse two the riva s bank am a very good road / the dead trees show the way (Bresler). Moss grows on the north side of dead trees. Through this verse, Parks suggests that if the runaway, lost sight of the Big Dipper or was unable to locate the marking left by conductors like Peg Leg Joe they were to search for dead trees to point them ... I say this because you ll have to stretch as much as you can and eventually you ll feel like you pulled something in your foot. Trust me, if this happens to you, then it will take a while for your foot to stop hurting so if need be, climb or use a step stool. It doesn t have to be a certain thing. Use a chair or wood block maybe. As long as you can step up on it, reach what you need, and not have a fear of falling over then it s a step stool. Now, don t go about stepping on just anything. Don t even try to put all your weight on something that might break under you. I don t even need to tell you the consequences on that. Either you already know it, or you can figure it out on your own. Reaching things in upper cabinets presents a unique set of challenges. Have you ever tried climbing on the counter at 6:30 in the morning? It s a death trap waiting to happen, but if you re short and hungry, you ll take your chances. First off, you have to jump up and be able to hold yourself while you lift your legs and plant them under you so you sit on your knees. This is so that you can elevate yourself if you still can t reach what you want. Obviously, opening the cabinet door is tricky because you re right in front of it so you have to be careful about how you bend so there is room to open it up. As a child I would stand in front of the TV, watching ballerinas in tutus twirl across the stage, attempting to copy their leaps and pirouettes. I dreamed about the possibility of that dancer being me one day. I had no idea how much that dream would eventually shape my life. In sixth grade, I began ballet. I had no idea how challenging ballet could be, but I also had no idea how much I would grow to love it. And that love is what gave me the determination to keep growing, and keep advancing, no matter how hard it got. Once I entered high school I would often spend 20+ hours a week at my dance studio teaching classes, taking as many classes as I could, and training by myself whenever the studio was open. Native Americans in Late 19th Century Native Americans in the late 19th century The reservations system is quite a complex matter and understanding the consistency and membership of the reservations can be hard, depending on the particular issue being handled. It is worth noting however that all the Indians born in the USA are citizens and are subject to federal and tribal laws though not generally to the state laws. The federal law limits their self governance hence they do not retain the all powers. They are endowed with the power to control the land use and ownership, execute their legal system (though under the supervision of the federal government particularly on criminal issues) as well as raise the local taxes. According to American Indians Cultural Network (2000), the federal reservations are about 300 in number and most are in the West with 20 state reservations mainly in the East. The reservations have a history that dates back to the 1840s and were inhabited by the Plains Indians. They were basically used to confine the Plains Indians hence have an easier time controlling the inhabitants. Once confined within this stretch of worthless infertile land, they were no longer a threat to the white settlers and by 1900s the entire population of Plains Indians was almost decimated. The federal reservations policy came up from the system that was referred to as the Permanent Indian Frontier policy that was implemented in 1830 the followed by the Indian Removal Act within the same year. Gender, drag culture and queerness plays a significant part in Messias performance art and as an artist, he utilises this to create an impact for the spectator and to represent life events and themes appearing in society. State Supreme Courts have made a few rulings on the constitutionality of student led prayer at voluntary school events such as ballgames and graduation ceremonies, but there has been no national outline on what practices are legal and illegal. Also, moments of silence are currently under debate, with the court ruling usually hinging on whether or not the moment is implemented to encourage prayer(ACLU). The most commonly cited reason for this is that children need the moral and ethical guidance that religion taught in the classroom will provide them. Physician Assisted Death For The Terminally Ill University Name Name of The Institute Course Title A Report on Physician assisted death for the terminally ill in US Student Name Introduction In United States, Euthanasia is a highly controversial subject among politicians, legislators and society members. Just the mention of this issue polarizes different groups on opposing ends as some either support it and others want to keep it illegal and unlawful(Steck, Egger, Maessen, Reisch, Zwahlen, 2013). The main ideology that is discussed in the situation is whether an individual has a right on his own life in cases of terminal illness where there is no way of recovering according to medical professionals. The argument that is for the provision of assisted death for terminally ill can be understood by other names of Euthanasia which are mercy killing and dignity death. These names are given to the practice of physical assisted death as it allows the terminally ill patients to avoid the extreme pain, constant awareness of certain death and humiliating medical conditions that are part of some terminal illnesses. In this report, the present state of Euthanasia has been evaluated in context of United States.
