Learning To Die
Learning To Die
Haruki Murakami once said, death is not the opposite of life, but a part of it. In Donald Barthelme s
short story The School, the students are exposed to death all around them from a very young age. The
death pandemic begins very small, with some trees, and then gradually increases: first to small
animals, then a puppy, and then it moves on to humans. By the end of the story, the children have
experienced so much death in their everyday lives that their knowledge of the world is more
philosophically advanced than even that of their teacher.
Throughout the story, Barthelme chooses to use the word children to describe the students in the
school. This signifies to the reader that this class is very young. The education these ... Show more

After all the previous classroom pets had died, one of the students finds a puppy, which they all insist
on keeping in the classroom. However, the teacher isn t as excited as the students about having
another animal around. As soon as I saw the puppy I thought, Oh Christ, I bet it will live for about two
weeks and then... (1). The teacher, hardened by his experiences, is much less hopeful for new life than
the students; he can t help but expect death to closely follow wherever life is. The children, despite
experiencing so much loss in their lives, are still excited about new life. At the end of the story, after
so much death has already occurred, a new gerbil comes to the classroom, and the children cheered
wildly (2). This shows that the teacher s discouragement of new life hasn t impacted the students
enthusiasm for it. The students in this scenario have learned to hope for life where their teacher

Harassment In Kings Bay
Introduction: Paradoxical swim with programs, modeled as an ecotourism method, are of great interest
to conservation biologists. Crystal River, Florida, which includes Kings Bay, is the only place in the
United States where swimming with manatees is permitted. This globally advertised tourism attraction
draws in well over 100,000 tourists a year.1 These tourists have close interaction with over 500
manatees that winter in Kings Bay (2 km2).2 This number has increased from the 114 manatees using
these warm water springs in 1981 1982, demonstrating the growing importance of Kings Bay as a
warm water site.3 West coast manatees migrate to the Kings Bay area to escape environmental

U.S. Geological Survey s Sirenia Project has been monitoring welfare biomarkers in manatees over
several years in Kings Bay, Florida. Dr. Bob Bonde, a research biologist with the Sirenia Project, is
granting the use of these samples for my proposed project. Identification and documentation of age
classes of manatees at Kings Bay will account for manatees adapting to human interactions at these
study sites over time. Thus, age may be positively correlated with lower welfare biomarker
concentrations in samples. Fecal and blood samples will also be collected from captive manatees in
swim programs at Isla Mujeres s Dolphin Discovery Center with cooperation from staff members.
Hypothesis 1: Human interaction induces negative physiological responses in the West Indian
manatee, as indicated by welfare biomarker concentrations from fecal and blood

A Brief Note On The And The Classroom
Paraprofessionals
Paraprofessionals, or paras as they are most commonly called, have very important roles in and out of
the classroom. They assist special needs students with a variety of tasks and routines throughout the
school day. However, according to Giangreco, the common misconception teachers have is that the
paraprofessional and special educator will handle most of the planning, adapting, supervision, and
instruction. All I need to do is be a gracious host (Giangreco, 2003). This way of thinking can cause
tension between the para and the classroom teacher. Sure, paras are in the classroom for the special ed
kids, but teachers are in the classroom for all students. They should not ignore the students with
disabilities just because there is a para in the room who s job it is to handle these students. Para s are
in classrooms to assist the children with their learning, not take the role of the teacher.
Another common misconception, this one from the community as a whole, is that aides and paras have
the same responsibilities. Aides take the role of a teacher s assistant more so than a para. Aides are in
the classroom to help keep the chaos to a minimum, organize the classroom, and make copies for a
lesson. Paras on the other hand, are trained professionals that modify curriculum, implement behavior
management plans, and provide one on one instruction for the students with special needs (Role). In
fact, the average special education paraprofessional works in five

The Importance Of Short-Term Memory And Long-Term Memory
If you witnessed a crime, and you were called by the court to deliver an eyewitness testimony, could
you? Research has been done to test the accuracy of eyewitness testimonies. My experiment is to see
how accurate you can remember something from a while ago (about 5 minutes). I m also testing the
power of suggestion, and how easy it is to change someone s mind. The volunteers will have ranging
ages from 9 all the way to about 60. Short term memory (STM) and long term memory (LTM) have a
big effect on eyewitness accuracy. If a person doesn t have a good long term memory then they are
most likely to forget the important information, and not give accurate descriptions. The three different
types of short term memory are limited capacity, limited duration, and encoding. Limited capacity
simply means that you can only hold about seven items at a time. Limited duration means that
information can be lost with a simple distraction, or it can fade away as time goes on. Encoding is
mostly acoustic, meaning that you can take visuals and turn them into audios so it s easier to
remember. 7 is a common number to use for short term memory. You can add or subtract to and that
will usually give you the right range. Long term memory holds information that your sensory and
short term memory couldn t. Your long term memory doesn t have a certain capacity. It can hold as
much as it can and however long it can. The long term memory could be like your first words, or your

Theodor Herzl s Influence On Judaism
Theodor Herzl was a Jewish poet who pushed not only for the acceptance of his Jewish community,
but also for a homeland for the Jews in the Middle Eastern Palestinian area. He wrote about the
injustices he witnessed, and used his writings as a way to share his opinions. His support for the Israeli
side of the conflict was a direct result of his Jewish upbringing and ethnic background. His writings
were colored with his views and beliefs about the rights of the Jewish people. He greatly impacted the
conflict as he was the visionary for modern Zionism and the reinstitution of a Jewish homeland in
Palestine. Herzl was born in Budapest in 1860. He and his family moved to Vienna in 1878 where he
would later attend college. While in Vienna he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Herzl made valid arguments and was passionate about seeing the day when Jews could reside in their
own land. Peace was something Theodor always kept in mind, he never used violence to make any of
his points. Herzl essentially established Zionism itself, the development of a Jewish nation now
known as Israel. His first goal was to achieve support from his readers and recognition of the issue in
which he felt so strongly. He published Der Judenstaat , or The Jewish State, which quickly became
the primary source of Zionist literature in 1896. Theodor s second goal was to put the idea of a
homeland in Palestine for Jews into action. He did so by advocating the creation of a Jewish Society
or Jewish Company. The Jewish Company would handle the business and real estate aspects of a mass
migration into the land of Palestine. They would purchase the property of migrating Jews and sell it to
the Gentiles for profit. The Jewish Company legally purchased land with the profits and donations
from supporters of the Zionism movement allowing them to buy and sell to Jewish

Status of Women in Indian Society... a Study
Status of women in society
A project report
Present scenario of the status of women in Indian society
According to India s constitution, women are legal citizens of the country and have equal rights with
men (Indian Parliament). Because of lack of acceptance from the male dominant society, Indian
women suffer immensely. Women are responsible for bearing children, yet they are malnourished and
in poor health. Women are also overworked in the fields and complete all of the domestic work. Most
Indian women are uneducated. Although the country s constitution says women have equal status as of
men, women are powerless and are mistreated inside and outside the home.
India is a society where the male is greatly revered. Therefore women, ... Show more content on

Educated/literate women will be better able to manage their families, so that their children become
good citizens of the country.
Mothers create the foundation stone on which children can build their careers and grow to become
respectable citizens.
The family is the foundation for building sustaining any nation and women is an important aspect of a
family.
Family participation should not be limited to their children only but must also include children of
relatives, neighbors and the less privileged. Since people do not live in isolation, we must encourage
mothers to participate in the parenting of people in and outside of their own families.
Young and even older children must also participate in supporting the family activities on a regular
basis. Through family participation, values can be instilled that will build and sustain a great nation.
My views
A woman is an architect of society. She establishes the institution of family life, builds the home,
brings up the children and makes them good citizens. Her strength in totality contributes in the making
of an ideal family, ideal society and an ideal state.
The question is how secure a woman is in her family and society and what is her socio economic and
political status. The position of women in any society is the indicator of health of the state.
Women contribute to society in many, many ways! There are very, very few professions that

To Kill A Mockingbird Chapter 5 Analysis
I chose the vocabulary words emboldened (courage), and apprehension (anxiety or fear something bad
or unpleasant will happen). The reason they apply to comprehending chapter 5 and the book is
because courage is a major characteristic of the underdog, and without it they become the average
person who is unable to overcome disadvantages exceedingly well. In particular courage was a key
aspect in the way Freirich approached the children with leukemia. In contrast, apprehension is a
quality that the underdog is not familiar with, alternatively it is a trait of a person who is not willing to
take risks, chances, think outside of the box, or oppose the norm . Hence, the difference between these
two qualities is a major factor when considering the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, Gladwell painted a good picture of the sorrow felt due to the severity of the affects on the
children from drugs, procedures, and imminent death more often than not. Gladwell gave extensive
detail to drive the point home of how audacious it was not to think outside of the box or form an
unconvential strategy to help save these childrens lives. In order to really understand the general
atmosphere, which appeared to be morgue like; the attitudes of the doctors who worked on that ward
issuing death sentences providing no hope to their patients needed to be made crystal clear. Otherwise,
it would be difficult for your average person who has empathy to understand some of Freirichs
approaches as they were viewed as haineous and unempathetic. Even though Freirich did not possess a
great amount of bedside manner, he did have empathy for the continued torture that the children were
experiencing; relative to his childhood. Freirich could empathize because he also had a tormented
period of life, his ability to emotionally express this was void. In essence the lack of affection as a
child affected his genteel nature in adulthood. Freirich is able to handle these factors in the Cancer
ward because he immediately began attempting to conform to the heinous conditions by finding a
resolution or way to improve the statistics. The difference in Freirich and your average person is his
resilience in opposing the giants in these circumstances despite the consequences. Once again similar
to the underdog strategies used in previous chapters such as Randadive and Boeis; different unique
strategies are utilized to overcome disadvantages attaining success in impossible

The Path Of Becoming A Pilot
The defining humming of propellers swirling around the front of the plane, slowly pushing faster and
faster until a simple pull on the yoke shoots the plane off the ground. As he rose higher and higher into
the sky, the rising sun light up his face to show a grand smile from one ear to the other. This reaction is
rather typical for everyone when they hop into the cockpit for the first time. Unfortunately, this
happiness is short lived because the path of becoming a pilot is a long and troubling one. In fact, an
ample amount of people never completes the courses that are required to become a pilot. For a

Unlike the marines, the navy professions are not as physically demanding so in boot camp, they do not

Americans the traditional next step after graduating high school is enrolling into college. This causes

My College and Career Choices Essay
What do you want to be when you grow up? Is one of the many questions that are asked by teachers
and adults. Through the research and development of this paper, I feel that I am finally prepared to
answer that question. College has always been in my plans but which college? Well, I have it
narrowed down to three excellent and well known colleges. Ohio University of Athens, The Ohio
State University of Columbus and Miami University are the colleges that I feel would foremost
prepare me to become an athletic trainer. My first college choice is Ohio University of Athens; I think
that Ohio University is a prominent university. Also, I like the rural location of the college. This

The Ohio State University (OSU) is my second college choice. Being a Buckeye has been a dream of
mine since I knew what college was, but with the research I have done, I do not like the size or
location of the college, however OSU does offer a really good athletic training program and that s
what interests me most about the college. College is not cheap or easy but it is doable. Tuition for
OSU is $11,285 per semester (collegecalc.org). With a larger college there is going to be a larger
enrollment number. According to (osu.edu) there is an average of 50,000 students enrolled at OSU.
Having a large variety of choices in majors is convenient. A total of 175 majors are offered at OSU
(osu.edu).The recommended ACT score ranges from 26 30 (osu.edu). Scholarships and financial aid
are both offered at OSU. The scholarships offered at OSU are various types of merit scholarships
awarded to those students who qualify (osu.edu).Financial aid at OSU is like other universities ,they
have grants loans and work study( osu.edu).Like Ohio University , OSU offers extracurricular known
as intramural sports and many other programs. Although it is not my first choice if I get the chance I
would become a Buckeye. Last but certainly not least, Miami University of Oxford, Ohio would be
my third choice. Miami University is another well known college that also has a rural location. This

Bortons Reflective Framework Model
Using Bortons (1970) reflective framework model, I am going to reflect on an experience I have had
whilst out in practice with the community mental health team in the North of England. Whilst on
placement I noticed there were numerous referrals of individuals with personality disorder. Whilst in
multi disciplinary meeting when we used to get these referrals I would very often hear people say
typical PD or well there is nothing our service can do for them . At these times, I was concerned for
the individual s welfare and when speaking to the services users myself, I found it difficult due to me
having limited experiencing working with individuals who have a diagnosis of personality disorder
(PD). Because of this, I have decided to look up possible research ideas regarding PD. To see if there
was a different type of medications, therapies and other services which are available to individuals
with varied diagnosis of PD. From my experience and observations of working on acute wards, I
found that health care professionals aren t sure how to treat or mange service users with PD
sometimes. According to the American Psychiatric Association (2001) the primary treatment for

War Economy The 20 year old Afghan conflict has created an open war economy, affecting
Afghanistan and surrounding areas. Not only has Afghanistan become the world s largest opium

Transformation of this criminalized war economy is thus essential not only to Afghanistan but to
neighboring regions. The economic and political stability of Pakistan, in particular, is threatened by
phenomena associated with the political economy of war in Afghanistan, but the phenomena also
reach into Iran, the Arab states of the Persian Gulf, and Central Asia, and, through the drug trade, into
Russia, Europe, and North America.
The pre war society of Afghanistan cannot be reconstructed, but today s structures developed from
transformations of that fragile and fragmented society. Furthermore, in the event that political
conditions permit an attempt at reconstruction, an understanding of prewar social, economic, and
political relations is necessary if Afghans and international actors are to avoid replicating or even
magnifying dysfunctional features of the system that proved so vulnerable to external intervention and
institutional collapse (Rubin, 1995a).

their source of income. He focuses on the millennials more than any other generation because they
seem to rely on this economy more. Although gigging can make life a lot more simple, Heller leaves
his audience with a lingering question. Can they survive it? He sets the stage for his audience by
telling a personal experience of his. He moved into an apartment but minor tasks such as hanging

economy is such a lonely economy (Heller 63). Not only does the excerpt appeal to ethos but also

gig economy provides but also the problems it can create as well. Highly educated people like Seth
Flickers who are a part of this economy are now more than ever before, aware of the careers that they

My Life Of The Southside Milwaukee Community
I was very excited when I saw that Core/ El Centro is looking for summer interns. They have made so

Farmers markets serve as an excellent community center to bring families together around food, and

Australia is a very diverse, multi cultural nation with the majority of the population having migrated

every single Australian watches free to air television daily.
Walking down the street, you are likely to encounter people of all colours and sexualities. Because of
Australia s incredible multi culturalism and growing LGBTQIA community, you would expect to see
the same mixture of different ethnicities and sexualities on mainstream television, but we don t.

In the early 1990s, the Communication Law Centre and the Media Entertainment and Arts Allegiance
aka Actors Equity (MEAAA), with some assistance from the Office of Multicultural Affairs began a
campaign to address what they felt was poor record of achievement when it came to the proper
portrayal of cultural diversity in popular television drama. This came after research into the
representation of non English speaking people in Australian television drama. At that time, it was
estimated that less than 2% of available roles were given to performers of culturally diverse
backgrounds and there were no continuing or recurring roles for indigenous performers (May, 2001).
Australian TV networks are failing to represent the people who make up the majority of this country s

excuses given by producers and directors when asked why they don t cast ethnic/LGBTQIA actors is

The Qur Exodus 20 And Matthew 5-7
The two verses Exodus 20 and Matthew 5 7 are a spinoff of last week s verses in Romans and
Genesis. Ever since Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, God s desire has been to restore the
broken relationship between God and people. God made a covenant. A covenant is a promise from
God that can never be broken. The covenant stated that God wanted a relationship with the people, but
in order to have this loving relationship, they had to turn away from their sin (Barker, 2002).
The portion of Scripture known as the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:3 17, NIV): was entered into
by God and the people of Israel. The purpose of the Ten Commandments is to point out sin. The Ten
Commandments are some of the most influential words in the entire Bible, and they ve influenced
thousands of years of thinking. Even in day to day lives, the Ten Commandments affect with how
people think about right and wrong.
In (Matthews 5:7) Jesus gets down to business and explains why he is here. It s not to abolish the law
but to fulfill it. (Mathews 5:7) is also called The Sermon on the Mount and covers several different
topics. If the Sermon on the Mount was summarized in a single sentence, it would be something like:
How to live a life that is dedicated to and pleasing to God, free from hypocrisy, full of love and grace,
full of wisdom and discernment. God goes further in this verse to show what would happen if we
follow the Ten Commandments and what will happen if we don t.

What Is The Difference Between Men And Women Deborah Tannen
Women versus Men: The Art of Miscommunication There is often miscommunication between the
sexes, whether it is spouses, friends, siblings, or parents. The miscommunication between the sexes is
not intentional; it is simply because of the differences in the way men and women think and interact.
In Deborah Tannen s essay, But What Do You Mean?, Tannen identifies the seven primary differences
in which men and women interact. Of the seven differences between women and men interactions than
Tannen points out, the most notable ones that I have seen to be true are apologies, jokes, and criticism.
Apologizing is, from what I have seen growing up, probably the most misunderstood. Tannen points
out in her essay that women use the term I m sorry as a way for both parties in a conversation to take
part of the blame, and show equal footing or to show that it is okay. I have seen plenty of examples of
this, especially with my grandma and my aunt. When my grandma would forget something, she would
apologize, then my aunt would say that it s okay, and then she would apologize to my grandma.
Growing up, I did not understand why my aunt would apologize, as it was not her fault, but reading
Tannen explain it in her essay, I understand that she was just saying it to tell my grandma that it is
okay and not to worry about it. Another reason that I have personally seen women apologize more that
Tannen did not elaborate on, is that when women are in conversations about something bad

Performance Management Reflects Organizational Goals
Introduction
Performance management is a process, which supports employee engagement and where an employee
s work reflects organisational goals. It is about achieving results through individuals and teams to
improve the performance of the organisation (Armstrong, 2009). The outcome of performance
management is visible through financial performance, productivity, quality of the product and service,
customer satisfaction, employee engagement and talent retention. Performance management offers
competitive advantage and brings positive benefits including increased profits, higher cash flow, and
stronger stock value. Productivity is lower if performance management is not present (Maley, 2012).
To measure effectiveness of performance management it is important to define the goals of the
organization as well as indicators of success. The measures method should provide balanced
information based of financial and non financial performance (Dti.gov.uk, accessed on 01/03/2014).
There are several methods used to measure performance management. Armstrong, 2009 lists good
ways to measure performance management effectiveness to be KPI s, business results, engagement
level or customer satisfaction. Another way to assess performance management is to use score card,
which can also help to align individual performance with strategy.

From Chernobyl to Fukushima Essay
It s a clear, cool, spring Friday afternoon. All were going about their quotidian business, in offices, on
trains, in rice fields, in stores, in schools, in warehouses, in shrines then, the ground began to shake.
Located at Pacific fault lines, Japanese are accustomed to these shudder and shakes but something was
different on March 11th. Moments later a low rumble from the east came, the Pacific Ocean. People
began to see a ragged white line in the horizon, within minutes a monstrous wall of waves came
sweeping in, clawing across the land destroying everything in its path. If that wasn t enough, a nuclear
accident arose after a power plant was struck. Nightmares within two minutes turned into reality. Only

So, when a tsunami comes inland at the speed of a jetliner there is no chance, it will catch you, it will

history. Japan alone has had more than a dozen earthquakes in the past three and half years (Allen). In
February there was a destructive earthquake in New Zealand, and an even more violent one in Chile
almost a year before. All three earthquakes involved the same Pacific fault lines and plated

Albert Einstein quoted, the release of atomic energy has not created a new problem. It has merely
made more urgent the necessity of solving an existing one. (Famous) The human species foolishly has
made the decision to use nuclear power, first used sixty six years ago, also in Japan, when the United
States dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. The power of nuclear energy is beyond our control
therefore should not be used. The art of nuclear power is to boil water with the incredible heat
generated by a nuclear chain reaction. But such temperatures necessitate continuous cooling. Cooling
requires pumps. Pumps require conventional power. These are things regularly go wrong and have
done so in Japan. The problem isn t that another backup generator is needed or that safety rules aren t

Origins of the N-Word Essay
The words Negro, nigger, and nigga have always been a sensitive topic, yet it is a topic that needs to
be addressed in light of the more common use of its vernacular. One word is used to describe a color,
while the others are used to define a people. It s very clear to many the negative connotation these
words carry, but where did these words come from? Furthermore, is there a difference between the
word nigger and nigga; and why is it that African Americans now use the word nigga to degrade each
other in today s society? These words, in spite of their spelling, still holds the same degrading power
as it did during the time of slavery, and they are still spoken out of cruelty and ignorance, but who is to

The Europeans no longer used the word to describe a color, but used it to describe a people. No matter
what the origin, this word was used as a weapon to destroy and kill the mind and spirit of a race, and
has become the self fulfilling prophecy for many African Americans today. So many people have
forgotten or either do not realize the destruction behind this racial slur; that it has simply become
another by word with a forgotten history. Ignorance is the state of being uneducated, unaware, or
uniformed. There is an old saying, What you don t know, won t hurt you, but I contend that what you
don t know can stifle you from moving ahead. There are so many young African Americans walking
in ignorance to the history of their race. For example, when I was growing up, my attentive parents
often took opportunities to teach me about and encouraged me not to sit on the back of a public
transportation bus. Their ideology came from the idea that there were many who fought for, were
imprisoned, and even died for my right to sit anywhere on a public bus. However, I consistently
watched as my African American friends immediately flocked to the back of a bus. I used to mentally
ask myself, Do they not know their history?

Birth Order Personality
The order people are born in, whether oldest, middle or youngest, can have a major effect on their
personality. The dynamics of birth order have long been debated in the scientific community. Some
researchers are hesitant to assign and label specific traits to each family positon. However, most agree
that birth order influences and factors into the adults we become. Birth order affects people in ways
they are unaware of. It can form personalities and affect behaviors. Also, as a result of birth order,
relationships and perspectives on life can be rather different between family members despite siblings
having been raised together. Alfred Adler, a psychologist, believed that a child s position in the family
greatly determines the child s personality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his book, Leman writes that at times the youngest child feels the only way they will receive
attention is if they make a mess (172). He goes on to write that because youngest children are often
not taken seriously they act out and it leads to these children turning into the class clown (Leman,
168). In a study done by Zweigenhaf and Von Ammon, they tested to see if youngest born are more
rebellious than firstborns. They looked at 20 college students who had been arrested for engaging in
civil disobedience in a labor dispute. Some of these students had been arrested more than once
(Zweigenhaf and Von 625). After the study was completed, it was determined that majority of the
arrested students were youngest born and all the students who were arrested multiple times were
youngest born (Zweigenhaf and Von, 626). This study supports the theory that youngest children tend
to be more rebellious.
Although firstborns are thought as being the most intelligent, youngest children are believed to be
more creative. Rohrer says this may be because youngest born children have to establish and create a
place in the family that has not been taken by other family members. This is accomplished through
exploration (Rohrer). Eisenman conducted a different study on 20 art students and also found that
laterborn children tend to be more creative. He believed this to be because artistic talent requires

The Negative Effects for Children Born Into Interracial Families
The union between Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, or any other group can be categorized as an
interracial marriage. It does not matter what ethnic groups are involved: one prominent result of
interracial marriages are the children that are born into these families. Interracial dating becomes a
problem because people cannot seem to ignore race. Racial identity is constant, unavoidable, and has
consequences that are very real. The color of one s skin impacts how society will accept a person and
also determines the advantages and disadvantages one will receive. Children begin to get stressed
when there are conflicts that involve their dual ethnic identity. Children who are born to interracial
families suffer the impact of negative consequences on their psychological well being. This paper
presents some background of the history of interracial marriages and some of the issues surrounding
children of interracial marriages, and some of the negative aspects as they grow older.
History/Background
The Supreme Court case of Loving v. Virginia speaks directly to the topic of this paper. In 1958,
Richard Loving married Mildred Jeter in Washington DC. Afterward, the two returned to Virginia as a
married couple. Richard was a white man, while Mildred was a black woman. Even though Richard
and Mildred did not get married in Virginia, the issue was Virginia had banned the interracial
marriages since 1961. Therefore,

The Artistic Elements Of Laocon And His Sons
Laocoön and His Sons Muscles contorting in anguish, fangs brutally piercing the flesh, faces
drowning in suffering. This intense visual is shockingly manifested through marble in the sculpture
Laocoön and His Sons by Hagesandros, Polydoros, and Athenodoros of Rhodes. This alluring
orchestra of artistic elements is the perfect compilation of technical perfection and emotional
expression. The exaggerated drama of the piece is the style of the Greek s Hellenistic period. All
things considered, Laocoön and His Sons possess both exquisite formal components and content and
has the capability to provide insight into both the culture of the Greeks, as well as the attitudes of
humanity towards its enemies. To commence, the formal composition of Laocoön and His Sons is
enticing. The piece is carved in marble with a height of eight feet. The marble white hue of the statue
seems to accentuate the intricate anatomy of the figures. The three males are arranged upon a base. On
one of the far sides of the platform, there resides a pillar style seating with drapery which dangles off
in a waterfall like manner. The central figure, and by far the most substantial in size, Laocoön, sits at
an angular position. This angular posture generates a dynamic composition. His two sons, Antiphantes
and Thymbraeus, struggle at his side as sea serpents attack all three of the figures. There appear to be
two sea serpents, one that is prominently digging its fangs into Laocoön s pelvis. Moreover, a

Wuthering Heights And Thrushcross Knighte Analysis
Is Wuthering Heights as nice a place as Thrushcross Grange? (Brontë 329). That seems to be the
question quickly answered in the start of the novel, Wuthering Heights, by Emily Brontë, and the
answer is very clearly: No. In Wuthering Heights, contrast between the two main and unique places,
Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, helps to define and separate the lifestyles of the main
characters. Wuthering Heights is distinctively more dark and chaotic and is full of troubles that make
it seem a much darker place, while Thrushcross Grange is a brighter and more peaceful house. Brontë
is able to use the two contrasting places to help support the drastically different character personalities,
whether it be troublesome Catherine or her peaceful and calmer husband, Edgar. The use of the
drastically different places, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, are vital to the novel because
they offer contrast in the physical houses and define the people living in them and are meaningful to
the novel by providing a deep and drastic connection to each place for the reader to separate and
understand the characters thoroughly.
The difference between Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange is literally like night and day in
the sense of drastic environmental differences that lead to a vivid contrast between the two places. As
Lockwood first comes upon Wuthering Heights, he was greeted by the dark contrast from the
surrounding town of Gimmerton. Wuthering Heights is notably

The Eighteenth Brumaire Of Louis Bonaparte Essay
The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte was written by Karl Marx a few months after the
December 1851 coup d etat of Louis Bonaparte in France. In this short text, Marx further examined
the revolution of 1848 and the series of political reversals which eventually led to the coup. Marx
views the coup as a consequence of sharp intensifications of class antagonisms in modern bourgeois
society, which is the central idea of the theory of revolutionary change presented in the Communist
Manifesto. Therefore, his analysis in the Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte allows us to
understand how his theory bears out in practice. However, in the latter text, Marx also made some
adjustments to his theory. He went from a simple, bifurcate model consisting of only a dominating
class and a dominated class to a more sophisticated understanding where he identifies the subgroups
within the main groups, as well as the roles each of these factions played during the course of the
revolution. In this paper, I will explain the revolution theory proposed by Marx and Engels in the
Communist Manifesto, and how the theory was applied and adjusted in the Eighteenth Brumaire to
make concrete historical sense of the events happened during the years between 1848 to 1851. In The
Communist Manifesto, Marx famously claimed that The history of all hitherto existing society is the
history of class struggle (Marx, p.219). For Marx, the engine of history is the productive power. In

The Impact Of Imsi Catchers On Mobile Phone Towers On Gsm...
Introduction
IMSI Catchers or Cell Site Simulators are devices that pose as legitimate cell phone towers on GSM
networks in order to either log the IMSI numbers of mobile phones in a specific area or to intercept
mobile phone traffic in a specific area of interest. IMSI stands for International Mobile Subscriber
Identity and is an identifying number that is unique for every mobile phone. This research paper sets
out to understand how IMSI catchers work, when and in what context their deployment would be most
beneficial to investigators, and the legality of this device.
How IMSI Catchers Work
Cellular Networks
A cellular network is a radio network distributed over land areas called cells . Each cell is served by
one fixed location transceiver, which is called a base station . When cells are joined together, they
provide wireless coverage over a large geographic area, within which mobile stations or phones can
communicate with base stations and each other. Overlapping coverage areas allows transmission to be
maintained even when mobile stations are moving between cells. Assigning a different set of
frequencies to neighboring cells avoids wireless signal interference.

Australia is not, and never has been, the racist country its academic historians have condemned
Critically analyse the white Australia policy relating it to the quote provided
In 1901, Edmund Barton the prime minster at time decided to introduce the Immigration Restriction
Act left Australia banning prostitutes, criminals, and anyone under a contract or agreement to perform
manual labour within Australia which seems that Edmund Barton was doing his job and kept Australia
safe but he was not. This is because, he did not stop there, he introduced a dictation test to exclude
certain people by making them sit a written exam that they need to pass to be welcome in Australia
voted by an immigration officer and majority of the non white people was given the answer no you are
not welcome here. Many of prime ministers were involved in this as it ended in 1973. The quote
Australia is not, and never has been, the racist country its academic historians have been condemned is
most certainly incorrect between the years 1901 to 1973 as the majority of people were not allowed to
enter Australia if they were non white people. The reasons proving that Australia was indeed a racist
country include the reasons why the white Australia policy was introduced, immigration and the way
other countries saw Australia.
The reasons why the white Australia policy was introduced is why Australia was awfully racist.

Essay On Keeping The Drinking Age
Without a doubt, the United States has been facing serious national problems with underage drinking.
Depending on personal ideologies, some people might not agree that the current minimum drinking
age of twenty one is based on scientific facts rather then ideology of prohibitionism. For example,
since 1975 over seventeen thousand lives have been saved since the minimum legal drinking age
(MLDA) was changed to age twenty one (Balkin 167). This shows that even over a short amount of
time, a higher MLDA helps decrease the risk of teen suicides, accidents and overdose deaths.

Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the 1984 National Minimum Drinking Age Act. This act gave
full federal highway funds only to states that set the minimum age to purchase or consume alcohol at
twenty one years (Sanghavi). Once all states raised their MLDA to twenty one years, drunk driving
accidents and deaths decreased. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the
reduction in traffic fatalities due to the legal drinking age of twenty one prevented 846 deaths in 1997
and prevented a total of 17,359 deaths since 1975 (Balkin 168). This single statistic shows that
automobile accidents have substantially decreased in response to the authorization of the National
Minimum Drinking Age Act. In addition, the average teenager earns their drivers license at the age of
seventeen. This being said, allowing a young driver with only one years experience (excluding a

by continuous violence and social indifference against fatalities by the insistent dignity of the Four
Horseman of the Apocalypse continuously pushing back and forth across Europe. After reading
Chapter 3 in our book. The two patterns of criminal activity and violence I would like to compare that
took place in England during this period are blood feud s and Trial by Ordeal. Crime control was built
on Kindred grouping an individual s relatives because if they were injured by another group they had
their own supporters. Their supports could bail them out of trouble by paying compensation to the
other member in which they killed or hurt families. If a member gets expelled from group they are
deprived from being protected and this gives the sheriff permission to injure, or kill the expelled
individual through the practice of outlawry. Rather than being called an outlaw, the person is named an
adjurer. An individual who withdraws somberly, which involved him wearing a white robe and cross
and being subjected to all types of persecutions, an abjurer was not permitted to remain in a

The Measure of Aggression
The construct that is in question is the measure of aggression. Aggressiveness has been a popular
disposition for study because it can be closely linked to observed behavior. An aggressive behavior
has generally been defined as a behavior that is intended to injure or irritate another person (Eron,
Walder, Lefkowitz, 1971). Aggressiveness, then, is the disposition to engage frequently in behaviors
that are intended to injure or irritate another person. The one difficulty this definition presents for
measurement is the intentionality component. Whether or not an observed behavior injures or irritates
another person can usually be determined without much difficulty, but the intention behind the
behavior may be more difficult to divine, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such that if the person is in a good mood they might not view themselves as negatively as well they
may not be fully aware of their actions in the past and how they truly relate to the question being
asked. Similarly more salient factors of aggression may not be observed by peers.
Overview of the Scale: The Aggression Questionnaire was developed by Buss and Perry in 1992, to
replace the Hostility Inventory, consists of 29 items concerning self reports of behavior and feelings,
which are completed along a five point scale (5: very often applies to me to 1: never or hardly applies
to me ); two items are reverse scored. There are four subscales, physical (9 items), verbal (5 items),
anger (7 items), and hostility (8 items). The first two are concerned with behavior (e.g., I have
threatened people I know, and I often find myself disagreeing with people ), and the other two with
feelings (e.g., anger: I have trouble controlling my temper ; hostility: I am sometimes eaten up with
jealousy ). The questionnaire is intended for the general public to ascertain the level of aggression and
what subscales of aggression the person exhibits. This can be used in a clinical setting and/ or as a
predictor of the subject s interactions with the public.
Item Format:
Each item was rated on a 5 point Likert type scale which was rated least characteristic to most
characteristic. The 4 scales (factors) of

Personal Code Of Ethics Essay
Should a person be allowed autonomy over the safety of public health? Does the CDC have the right
to detain an individual based on the safety of the general public when the individual is thought to have
a certain illness that has built up a resistance to antibiotics? This means that anyone who comes in
contact with this individual could possibly contract the disease that antibiotics can t fix.
When I thought about this ethical dilemma I actually had a hard time deciding which way I would go
in my ethics because my code has reasons both would cause a dilemma in my ethical thinking. I did
chose to go the way of the public s safety just because on a public flight of that length that went to a
foreign country and across state lines, he could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were acting on behalf of the general public and were doing what the job requires of them. So
when working at the CDC I imagine that job comes with its own code of ethics and that job would
require a code that states working for the good of the public even if it means detaining someone and
restricting a person s freedom for the better good of the public. Because in this class everyone learned
that a person can be bicodal and this allows someone to have multiple codes in their lives (Morrison,
2009). Isolating an individual goes against my personal code of ethics because a person s freedom is
important to their way of life but as a professional I need to worry about my employees and
individuals in my care. So yes in my professional opinion the CDC acted ethically in detaining an
individual thought to have a communicable disease. This agrees with my code on courage, caring,
loyalty and integrity. I this goes a bit towards paternalism but at sometimes professionals do know
what is best for well being of the public and this is definitely not ensuring patients come first and
making them comfortable and satisfied but this ensures the health of multitudes over the happiness on

The Importance Of Democracy In Democracy
American democracy supply its citizens with the most freedom, the most opportunity, the greatest
success, and the most comfortable life. A high number of Americans have lost faith in their
democracy. In 1988, United States democratic party was 33%. In 2014, it decreased to 29%. For more
democratic to gain their faith, the democracy have to improve. The humanities can solve this problem
by starting with itself. Improving education, improving oneself as a human being, improving
healthcare and improving economics growth.
Education can help people participate in democracy in different ways, including providing them with
literacy and other skills to enable them to take action in political discussions and to be able to get
political information through the media easily. Education promotes good governance by giving
citizens the confidence and skills they need to become active members of their society and hold their
governments responsible, therefore we need more people in higher class occupations. Education
reduces poverty, help economic growth, leads to better health and promotes gender equality.
Everyone should come together to enhance themselves as a human being. This action is will be very
challenging, but possible. If everyone will take the time out to compliment themselves, stop making
excuses, let go of anger, practice forgiveness, be honest, be helpful, listen to others, be respectful,
educate themselves, and more, there will be massive number of civilized

Badger Girls State Reflective Report
Badger Girls State was a remarkable, but short week at UW Oshkosh where I was surrounded by
strong women. During this week I learned five things: how to make strong connections, think quickly
on my feet, make smart decisions while voting, how to seek out stronger candidates, and how to make
my voice heard. While I was at Badger Girls State, I learned how to make strong connections. I plan to
move into a field of Biology which involves a lot of people working and researching. In order for me
to make an impact in this vast field, I will have to form strong connections that will allow me to prove
my worth and intelligence. I made connections with other females of my city as well as other cities in
my county so that I could get their opinions in order to make positive decisions for our party platform.
Making strong connections will help me make an impact in my field of study by having the ability to
further my education with excellent recommenders within the university and in the community.
During this week in Oshkosh, all delegates must make quick and smart decisions because there is little
time to prepare campaign speeches, deliver said speeches, and hear from other candidates. Thinking
quick in my career could mean whether or not my crew and I would have the ability to save an animal,

of the talents the Tudor family had was that they ruled England .They also was one of the most

Alphonse Gabriel Capone Research Paper
It is January 17th, 1899; Alphonse Gabriel Capone is born to Italian immigrants in Brooklyn, New
York, US. No one knew it at the time, but he would soon lead the most powerful organized crime
syndicate in the history of the country; the Five Points Gang.
The Sicilian Mafia, La Cosa Nostra, The Italian Mob, The Italian Mafia, and The Mafia. These are
five names for one of the most terrifying criminal organizations in the history of Europe. The name
Sicilian originated from a small island just offshore of the Italian mainland, located in the
Mediterranean Sea; Sicily Island. This is where over the course of many centuries, five major clans, or
families led their own internal governments, usually run by the head of the family. The Sicilian ...

The Latino And Latino Community
The Hispanic/Latino community has been known to be underrepresented on college campuses, both at
the community college and four year university level. Factors such as low income households, poor or
harsh living conditions, under educated parents, cultural and family commitments, and unfamiliarity
with the college process, all serve as unfortunate barriers that keep Hispanic/Latino students from
reaching the goal of attaining college degrees. Although these barriers keep many students from
succeeding, many others overcome these obstacles and continue on their paths to creating a better
future for themselves. They choose to look past the expectations that society has for them and break
out of the stereotypical mold. However, Hispanic/Latino students face, yet, another challenge upon
successfully making it on to a college campus... the challenge of graduating.
Regardless of the type of institution, retention is one of the biggest issues that colleges encounter with
the Hispanic/Latino population. The question has been posed for quite some time: What can colleges
do to, not only keep these students on campus, but also to prepare them for the challenges they may
face when transferring to a four year school? Various programs on college campuses across the state of
California have been implemented in the past couple of decades to help address this question. The
existence of such programs, like Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), contribute to the academic
success of the

  • 2. Learning To Die Learning To Die Haruki Murakami once said, death is not the opposite of life, but a part of it. In Donald Barthelme s short story The School, the students are exposed to death all around them from a very young age. The death pandemic begins very small, with some trees, and then gradually increases: first to small animals, then a puppy, and then it moves on to humans. By the end of the story, the children have experienced so much death in their everyday lives that their knowledge of the world is more philosophically advanced than even that of their teacher. Throughout the story, Barthelme chooses to use the word children to describe the students in the school. This signifies to the reader that this class is very young. The education these ... The teacher, hardened by his experiences, is much less hopeful for new life than the students; he can t help but expect death to closely follow wherever life is. The children, despite experiencing so much loss in their lives, are still excited about new life. At the end of the story, after so much death has already occurred, a new gerbil comes to the classroom, and the children cheered wildly (2). This shows that the teacher s discouragement of new life hasn t impacted the students enthusiasm for it. The students in this scenario have learned to hope for life where their teacher expects ... This globally advertised tourism attraction draws in well over 100,000 tourists a year.1 These tourists have close interaction with over 500 manatees that winter in Kings Bay (2 km2).2 This number has increased from the 114 manatees using these warm water springs in 1981 1982, demonstrating the growing importance of Kings Bay as a warm water site.3 West coast manatees migrate to the Kings Bay area to escape environmental stressors such as water temperature, as manatee fatality occurs ... Thus, age may be positively correlated with lower welfare biomarker concentrations in samples. However, according to Giangreco, the common misconception teachers have is that the paraprofessional and special educator will handle most of the planning, adapting, supervision, and instruction. All I need to do is be a gracious host (Giangreco, 2003). This way of thinking can cause tension between the para and the classroom teacher. Sure, paras are in the classroom for the special ed kids, but teachers are in the classroom for all students. They should not ignore the students with disabilities just because there is a para in the room who s job it is to handle these students. Para s are in classrooms to assist the children with their learning, not take the role of the teacher. Another common misconception, this one from the community as a whole, is that aides and paras have the same responsibilities. Aides take the role of a teacher s assistant more so than a para. Aides are in the classroom to help keep the chaos to a minimum, organize the classroom, and make copies for a lesson. Paras on the other hand, are trained professionals that modify curriculum, implement behavior management plans, and provide one on one instruction for the students with special needs (Role). • 5. The Importance Of Short-Term Memory And Long-Term Memory If you witnessed a crime, and you were called by the court to deliver an eyewitness testimony, could you? Research has been done to test the accuracy of eyewitness testimonies. My experiment is to see how accurate you can remember something from a while ago (about 5 minutes). I m also testing the power of suggestion, and how easy it is to change someone s mind. The volunteers will have ranging ages from 9 all the way to about 60. Short term memory (STM) and long term memory (LTM) have a big effect on eyewitness accuracy. If a person doesn t have a good long term memory then they are most likely to forget the important information, and not give accurate descriptions. The three different types of short term memory are limited capacity, limited duration, and encoding. Limited capacity simply means that you can only hold about seven items at a time. Limited duration means that information can be lost with a simple distraction, or it can fade away as time goes on. Encoding is mostly acoustic, meaning that you can take visuals and turn them into audios so it s easier to remember. 7 is a common number to use for short term memory. You can add or subtract to and that will usually give you the right range. Long term memory holds information that your sensory and short term memory couldn t. Your long term memory doesn t have a certain capacity. It can hold as much as it can and however long it can. The long term memory could be like your first words, or your first best friends, a ... Theodor Herzl s Influence On Judaism Theodor Herzl was a Jewish poet who pushed not only for the acceptance of his Jewish community, but also for a homeland for the Jews in the Middle Eastern Palestinian area. He wrote about the injustices he witnessed, and used his writings as a way to share his opinions. His support for the Israeli side of the conflict was a direct result of his Jewish upbringing and ethnic background. His writings were colored with his views and beliefs about the rights of the Jewish people. He greatly impacted the conflict as he was the visionary for modern Zionism and the reinstitution of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Herzl was born in Budapest in 1860. His first goal was to achieve support from his readers and recognition of the issue in which he felt so strongly. He published Der Judenstaat , or The Jewish State, which quickly became the primary source of Zionist literature in 1896. Theodor s second goal was to put the idea of a homeland in Palestine for Jews into action. He did so by advocating the creation of a Jewish Society or Jewish Company. The Jewish Company would handle the business and real estate aspects of a mass migration into the land of Palestine. Women are also overworked in the fields and complete all of the domestic work. Most Indian women are uneducated. Mothers create the foundation stone on which children can build their careers and grow to become respectable citizens. The family is the foundation for building sustaining any nation and women is an important aspect of a family. Family participation should not be limited to their children only but must also include children of relatives, neighbors and the less privileged. Since people do not live in isolation, we must encourage mothers to participate in the parenting of people in and outside of their own families. Young and even older children must also participate in supporting the family activities on a regular basis. Through family participation, values can be instilled that will build and sustain a great nation. My views A woman is an architect of society. She establishes the institution of family life, builds the home, brings up the children and makes them good citizens. Her strength in totality contributes in the making of an ideal family, ideal society and an ideal state. The reason they apply to comprehending chapter 5 and the book is because courage is a major characteristic of the underdog, and without it they become the average person who is unable to overcome disadvantages exceedingly well. In particular courage was a key aspect in the way Freirich approached the children with leukemia. In order to really understand the general atmosphere, which appeared to be morgue like; the attitudes of the doctors who worked on that ward issuing death sentences providing no hope to their patients needed to be made crystal clear. Otherwise, it would be difficult for your average person who has empathy to understand some of Freirichs approaches as they were viewed as haineous and unempathetic. Even though Freirich did not possess a great amount of bedside manner, he did have empathy for the continued torture that the children were experiencing; relative to his childhood. Freirich could empathize because he also had a tormented period of life, his ability to emotionally express this was void. In essence the lack of affection as a child affected his genteel nature in adulthood. Freirich is able to handle these factors in the Cancer ward because he immediately began attempting to conform to the heinous conditions by finding a resolution or way to improve the statistics. The difference in Freirich and your average person is his resilience in opposing the giants in these circumstances despite the consequences. In Deborah Tannen s essay, But What Do You Mean?, Tannen identifies the seven primary differences in which men and women interact. Of the seven differences between women and men interactions than Tannen points out, the most notable ones that I have seen to be true are apologies, jokes, and criticism. Apologizing is, from what I have seen growing up, probably the most misunderstood. Tannen points out in her essay that women use the term I m sorry as a way for both parties in a conversation to take part of the blame, and show equal footing or to show that it is okay. I have seen plenty of examples of this, especially with my grandma and my aunt. When my grandma would forget something, she would apologize, then my aunt would say that it s okay, and then she would apologize to my grandma. He goes on to write that because youngest children are often not taken seriously they act out and it leads to these children turning into the class clown (Leman, 168). In a study done by Zweigenhaf and Von Ammon, they tested to see if youngest born are more rebellious than firstborns. They looked at 20 college students who had been arrested for engaging in civil disobedience in a labor dispute. Some of these students had been arrested more than once (Zweigenhaf and Von 625). After the study was completed, it was determined that majority of the arrested students were youngest born and all the students who were arrested multiple times were youngest born (Zweigenhaf and Von, 626). This study supports the theory that youngest children tend to be more rebellious. Although firstborns are thought as being the most intelligent, youngest children are believed to be more creative. Rohrer says this may be because youngest born children have to establish and create a place in the family that has not been taken by other family members. This is accomplished through exploration (Rohrer). Eisenman conducted a different study on 20 art students and also found that laterborn children tend to be more creative. The Negative Effects for Children Born Into Interracial Families The union between Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, or any other group can be categorized as an interracial marriage. It does not matter what ethnic groups are involved: one prominent result of interracial marriages are the children that are born into these families. Interracial dating becomes a problem because people cannot seem to ignore race. Racial identity is constant, unavoidable, and has consequences that are very real. The color of one s skin impacts how society will accept a person and also determines the advantages and disadvantages one will receive. Children begin to get stressed when there are conflicts that involve their dual ethnic identity. Children who are born to interracial families suffer the impact of negative consequences on their psychological well being. This paper presents some background of the history of interracial marriages and some of the issues surrounding children of interracial marriages, and some of the negative aspects as they grow older. History/Background The Supreme Court case of Loving v. Virginia speaks directly to the topic of this paper. In 1958, Richard Loving married Mildred Jeter in Washington DC. Afterward, the two returned to Virginia as a married couple. Richard was a white man, while Mildred was a black woman. Even though Richard and Mildred did not get married in Virginia, the issue was Virginia had banned the interracial marriages since 1961. Therefore, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This intense visual is shockingly manifested through marble in the sculpture Laocoön and His Sons by Hagesandros, Polydoros, and Athenodoros of Rhodes. This alluring orchestra of artistic elements is the perfect compilation of technical perfection and emotional expression. The exaggerated drama of the piece is the style of the Greek s Hellenistic period. All things considered, Laocoön and His Sons possess both exquisite formal components and content and has the capability to provide insight into both the culture of the Greeks, as well as the attitudes of humanity towards its enemies. To commence, the formal composition of Laocoön and His Sons is enticing. The piece is carved in marble with a height of eight feet. The marble white hue of the statue seems to accentuate the intricate anatomy of the figures. The three males are arranged upon a base. On one of the far sides of the platform, there resides a pillar style seating with drapery which dangles off in a waterfall like manner. The central figure, and by far the most substantial in size, Laocoön, sits at an angular position. This angular posture generates a dynamic composition. That seems to be the question quickly answered in the start of the novel, Wuthering Heights, by Emily Brontë, and the answer is very clearly: No. In Wuthering Heights, contrast between the two main and unique places, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, helps to define and separate the lifestyles of the main characters. Wuthering Heights is distinctively more dark and chaotic and is full of troubles that make it seem a much darker place, while Thrushcross Grange is a brighter and more peaceful house. Brontë is able to use the two contrasting places to help support the drastically different character personalities, whether it be troublesome Catherine or her peaceful and calmer husband, Edgar. The use of the drastically different places, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, are vital to the novel because they offer contrast in the physical houses and define the people living in them and are meaningful to the novel by providing a deep and drastic connection to each place for the reader to separate and understand the characters thoroughly. The difference between Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange is literally like night and day in the sense of drastic environmental differences that lead to a vivid contrast between the two places. • 33. The Eighteenth Brumaire Of Louis Bonaparte Essay The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte was written by Karl Marx a few months after the December 1851 coup d etat of Louis Bonaparte in France. In this short text, Marx further examined the revolution of 1848 and the series of political reversals which eventually led to the coup. Marx views the coup as a consequence of sharp intensifications of class antagonisms in modern bourgeois society, which is the central idea of the theory of revolutionary change presented in the Communist Manifesto. Therefore, his analysis in the Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte allows us to understand how his theory bears out in practice. However, in the latter text, Marx also made some adjustments to his theory. He went from a simple, bifurcate model consisting of only a dominating class and a dominated class to a more sophisticated understanding where he identifies the subgroups within the main groups, as well as the roles each of these factions played during the course of the revolution. In this paper, I will explain the revolution theory proposed by Marx and Engels in the Communist Manifesto, and how the theory was applied and adjusted in the Eighteenth Brumaire to make concrete historical sense of the events happened during the years between 1848 to 1851. In The Communist Manifesto, Marx famously claimed that The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle (Marx, p.219). IMSI stands for International Mobile Subscriber Identity and is an identifying number that is unique for every mobile phone. This research paper sets out to understand how IMSI catchers work, when and in what context their deployment would be most beneficial to investigators, and the legality of this device. How IMSI Catchers Work Cellular Networks A cellular network is a radio network distributed over land areas called cells . Each cell is served by one fixed location transceiver, which is called a base station . When cells are joined together, they provide wireless coverage over a large geographic area, within which mobile stations or phones can communicate with base stations and each other. Overlapping coverage areas allows transmission to be maintained even when mobile stations are moving between cells. Many of prime ministers were involved in this as it ended in 1973. Aggressiveness, then, is the disposition to engage frequently in behaviors that are intended to injure or irritate another person.
