Persuasive Essay Why Do We Dream
There is a question that has baffled many psychologists and curious minds for centuries the question is
why do we dream? Do we dream to save our mind from insanity and stress or is it because it s a
natural process? There is one thing for certain though most people dream, the question is can they
remember it. The truth is all creatures can enter a certain type of REM sleep but it s uncertain if they
experience dreams on a human plane of thought. When we enter REM sleep our Rapid Eye Movement
stage of sleep the deepest part of our sleep, the human body undergoes a temporary paralysis to stop
the sleeping person from potential harmful movement. The dreaming process usually happens in this
stage, but has been reported in NREM sleep.

The Political Definition Of Fascism
For the average citizen of a nation, the political definition of fascism and even the word itself has been
left out of people s everyday vernacular. The most recent extent of fascism that people can remember
is Adolf Hitler s era of political control over seventy two years. In recent decades, however, European
Countries and even the United States of America have seen a recent rise in fascist leaning ideologies
and political parties due in part to online development, Immigration and elections trends, and a
paradoxical view of tolerance. These recent trends have signaled that fascism is still a problem and
presents a clear danger to society and democratic principles at large. While the general ideology was
technically developed by Italian Dictator and ally to Hitler, Benito Mussolini, it is Adolf Hitler himself
who is best known as the face of fascist movements of the past and movements today. In early 1930 s
Germany, Hitler was able to capitalize on the social and economic woes of a country who felt
disenfranchised and left behind by the world. By promoting ideas of German nationalism including a
strong German military, a strong pure German culture and nation, and using minority groups such as
the Jew s as a scapegoat, Hitler was able to take control of Germany and institute a Fascist system of
government and create the similar ideological trends we see in Fascist idea s and similar groups today.
Today fascism as an ideology and movements linked with fascism

Nao Symbolism
Time being means temporary action, which will definitely change. For example, life is time being. We
never know what will happen to us in the next seconds, hours, days, months, or even years. Or, a super
huge tsunami which is much bigger and powerful than the tsunami that crashed Japan on March 11,
2011 could destroy New York City in the next second. Besides, we are able to change our life and
become a billionaire by winning the New York Lottery. Furthermore, In A Tale of the Time Being,
during the summer vacation, Nao and Jiko really have fun that they go to the seaside and have a picnic
at the beach (P.189 195). Nevertheless, a few months after the summer vacation is over, Jiko is dying
and lying on her futon like a pathetic ancient child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides that, the fish symbolizes Nao s spirt and desire of freedom like a swimming fish in the ocean.
Also, the fish implies the water that the author uses to establish interesting plots like tsunami in order
to enrich the whole story. The crow is the symbolism of death, darkness, and mystery. When Ruth is
looking for Pesto in the forest, the crows warn (P.331) Ruth to stay away, which connote the death of
Pesto. Likewise, the author, Ozeki, uses the crows appearance to imply that Jiko s death day is near
future. The cat, Pesto, is a trouble maker. He is always doing bad things like leaving the squirrel
organs on the sidewalk of Ruth and Oliver s bed room (P.9). The author uses Pesto s behavior to imply
that Oliver is also a naughty person. Because Pesto and Oliver are a team, wherever Oliver dose or go,
Pesto follows (P.9).
The owner, Haruki #2, of these belongings, the diary, the letters, and the watch, died in suicidal action
that he chose to crash his plane into the ocean (P.386). Nao packs her diary and the diary, the letters,
the watch that belonged to her great uncle, Haruki # 2, for she wants to share this great honor with her
great uncle that she has just finished recording her first book which with the title of A la recherche

Chicago Bear Today Research Paper
Chicago Bears Today vs. 1985 The Chicago Bears are a completely different team today than they
were in 1985. The Bears today do not have the caliber of players. The stats are a big factor in proving
my point. From passing to receiving yards and even rushing. In the following paragraphs, I will
highlight some of the stats from 1985 and some from today s teams. In today s games, the stats are not
very impressive. The Bears current starting QB is Matt Berkley. Completing only 129 passes for 1611
yards is not an impressive feat in the NFL. He has only thrown 8 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
The leading receiver, Cameron Meredith, has 66 catches for 888 yards. He has fumbled the ball 3
times and lost the ball twice during those 3 fumbles. His

Edward De Veere s Influence On Shakespeare
Nearly ten percent of the most quoted lines in the English language are accredited to William
Shakespeare. But should this be the case? Many scholars argue that Shakespeare is not the author of
his plays. In fact, none other than Edward de Vere comes to the forefront of this controversy. De Vere
was highly educated, had a biographical connection to some of the characters in Shakespeare s plays
and had a similar writing structure to Shakespeare. The evidence is clear that William from Stratfor
did not write his plays, but rather Edward de Vere did.
De Vere was fully qualified to write the thorough pieces of work that were attributed to Shakespeare.
According to BBC America, de Vere was highly educated and trained as a lawyer . Since a multitude
of Shakespeare s plays deal with legal matters, the author must have been familiar with the law
system, which de Vere was. According to Britannica, de Vere studied with Arthur Golding (who
translated Metamorphoses by Ovid, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Britannica, [de Vere s] poems apparently ceased just before Shakespeare s work began to
appear (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica). De Vere started writing through poetry, but soon
after his career halted, Shakespeare s writing started to be seen. It is believed that de Vere stopped
writing under his own name in order to protect his family from the social stigma that was associated
with the theater. Therefore, de Vere began writing under another name, Shakespeare. This theory is
also proven by the fact that de Vere s work was similar to Shakespeare s. As stated in Absolute
Shakespeare, they both used six line pentameter stanzas ( De Vere Authorship Argument ). This is is
significant because this type of poetry was not used very commonly among poets of Shakespeare s
time. The similarities between de Vere and Shakespeare s poems shows the potential authorship de
Vere could have

Biography and Book Report on Shaul Magid
BACKGROUND OF SHAUL MAGID
Shaul Magid is a professor of religious studies and the Jay and Jeannie Schottenstein Chair of Jewish
Studies in Modern Judaism at Indiana University. In addition, on the site he says that he grew up in a
secular Jewish household in New York and then become serious about religion at the age of 20 in
which he dove deeply into the world of Hasidism. He says that he is fascinated by the complex nexus
of Judaism and American counterculture of his youth and writes about the topic as a scholar rather
then an observer. In the introduction he states that, proximity does not by definition produce bias.
Investment does not necessarily yield apologetics. The best critic, perhaps, is one who is open... about
what is at stake, collectively and personally, in his or her scholarly projects (confirm that!!)
INTRODUCTION:
Magid s brilliant introduction really sets the tone for the rest of his book. American Jews or Jewish
Americans? American Judaism or Judaism in America? One is; the other describes. It is without
question that America has offered Jews the most loving society in the Jewish Diaspora, but at the same
time it is also proving to be problematic. Jews are in a current state of transition in that they have to
figure out a way to adapt their Jewishness beyond their ethnicity. The Jewish leaders in America have
been wondering how to handle the sky rocketing assimilation and intermarriage rates, because they are
fearful that it will lead to the end of not

Gold Rush In California
Thomas Fuller once said we never know the worth of water till the well is dry (Fuller). As a species
we need water to cook, clean, and most importantly live. With water being a natural resource overuse
and misuses of it can cause its supply to rapidly dwindle down, and that s exactly what s happening in
California right now. California s water comes a married of places such as aquifers, groundwater,
surface water, rivers, reservoirs, dams and irrigation systems where 80% of that water goes towards
agriculture and 20% to urban/residential use. California s water supply is so substandard that the state
can t even say their predicament is a drought, but it can be classified as a crisis. And to add insult to

Noah Vs Gilgamesh
Various culture around the world at various times have written myths about catastrophic floods. These
myths contain different reasons and purposes behind the flood and why it was sent. Two of the most
notable and strikingly different flood accounts are Noah and the great flood found in Genesis, and the
Sumerian flood found in the Epic of Gilgamesh. The differences in these flood accounts are who
started the flood, the way these two cultures related to the divine, and blank.
The first major difference in these two tales is who initiated the flood. In the genesis account the flood
is initiated by one God, because the Jewish people where monotheistic. This notion of one god also
unifies the twelve tribes of Israel into one people. The ten commandments provide an excellent ...

In the Genesis account, God s reward for Noah s justness, is that he will be allowed to live, and his
family will repopulate the Earth. I will not again curse the ground any more for man s sake; for the
imagination of man s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more everything
living, as I have done. God s reward to all of humanity is to never destroy the world again regardless
of humanities wickedness and sinfulness. The Jews interpreted these things as the mercy and
forgiveness of God. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Utnapishtim receives a very different reward then Noah
did in Genesis. He touched our forehead and, standing between us, he blessed us: Previously
Utnapishtim was a human being. But now let Utnapishtim and his wife become like us, the gods!
Utnapishtim and his wife were granted immortality, but the rest of the people received nothing. This
again is reflexive of the division that existed in the Mesopotamian region where what happened to one
person or city state did not extend to the others. But the jews in their unified culture believed that God

Character Development In Beloved
Beloved is a novel by Toni Morrison based on slavery after the Civil War in the year 1873, and the
hardships that come with being a slave. This story involves a runaway captive named Sethe, who
commits a heinous crime to protect her child from the horrors of slavery. Through her traumas, Sethe
runs from the past and tries to live a normal life. The theme of Toni Morrison s story Beloved is how
people cannot escape the past. Every character relates their hard comings to the past through setting,
character development, and conflict.
The primary locations in this novel is in Sweet Home, a small farm containing slaves in Kentucky, and
124 Bluestone Road on the edge of Cincinnati, Ohio. Although the novel starts out in the home of
Sethe and her daughter, Denver, Sweet Home is where Sethe s experiences to the past begins. In Sweet
Home, the slave system was taken over by Mr. and Mrs. Garner, a kind couple who treated their slaves
like human beings. 124 becomes personified through the paranormal activities in the house, and
through the chapter names; 124 was spiteful, 124 was loud, and 124 was quiet. Mr. Bodwin, the owner
of 124, tells how the house has a history of paranoia, Women died there: his mother, grandmother, an
aunt and an older sister before he was born (259).
Through character development, the story also portrays the theme of escaping the past. Sethe s actions
are influenced heavily by her dead child, Beloved. When the human form of Beloved arrives while
sleeping

Security Concerns In Health Care Essay
Issues of Security Concern
With the enthusiastic adoption of health information technology tools, there has always been this fear
for users the threat to privacy and security. It is indeed one of the biggest concerns since the advent of
new technological record keeping and the electronic health information technology. Healthcare
professionals should be aware and very conscious of the fact that healthcare information is very
personal. It should also be known that whatsoever transfer of information amongst providers, via any
information technology took involves a lot of risks: one of which is the risk of the information getting
into the wrong hands. The task of enforcing this privacy and security issue has been given to the office
of the national coordinator (ONC) (Hagland, 2011). Their job is to ensure that private information
remains private, and also secured. The ONC upheld some regulations under the Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) (Mitka, 2013). This regulation seeks to increase the
access individuals have to their information and also restrict some certain disclosures of protected
health information. The ONC in their bid to enforce and ensure security and privacy, also prohibit the
sale of protected health information without the patient authorizing it. This office also demonstrated
some methods that could be used to achieve trust among all the entities involved in exchanging
medical information. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

security in HIT leads to

Hong Kong Will Be Introduced As Asia s World City
Abstract: For this journal, Hong Kong will be introduced as Asia s world city. Lecture notes and
readings from class will be provided to back this characterization and fundamentally shape an
analysis, particularly one aimed to make on the recent political and cultural events in Hong Kong.
Evidently the circulating effects of globalization and economic policy have rendered islands of Hong
Kong into major tourist attractions. For instance, Cause Bay and Wan Chai are two colorful districts
that offer thrilling nightclubs and stupendous ethnic restaurants. Other locations nearby like Yau Ma
Tei and Mong Kok draw people to its many exhibits of Chinese culture and specialty shops.
Unfortunately, I have not yet experienced these places but I am convinced after gaining some
experience walking in New York s Chinatown, why Hong Kong no longer lives up to it s meaning:
Fragrant Harbor. Also, it was coincidental finding unappetizing comments left by Tourists on travel
websites. They all dismissed the city s reputation of possessing perfumed sights and sounds with the
scents of opium spices and incense to be historical or mythological. Instead, these tourists who clearly
were disappointed enough to share their experiences online, reported smelling overbearing stenches of
dead fish and rotten cabbage, similarly to what I encountered in Chinatown, New York. Despite some
scents of the city were not as pleasant as what travel agents boasted to their clients, the historical facts

Cancerous Brain Tumors
Tumors are an area of swelling in a part of the both that does not always create inflammation. These
tumors are usually created by an irregular growth of the tissue. There are two individual kinds of
tumors, one called malignant, which is cancerous and the other benign, which is noncancerous. There
aren t any environmental factors that can usually cause either one of these tumors. Genetic disease
although, can cause certain tumors that can overpower the genes that stop the formation of tumors. A
genetic disease such as neurofibromatosis type 2 can be a prominent cause of a cancerous brain tumor.
Malignant tumors are harmful to the body and need immediate action. They have an absence of a
border and metastasize by growing in different parts of the body once they have traveled throughout
the vascular system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, even benign tumors have a risk of causing damage to the brain through either compression
or infiltration.
A tumor in the brain is dangerous if it starts to compress parts of the brain causing neurological
symptoms. This action can destroy the brain tissue it surrounds or it can block fluid in the brain from
flowing. Although it is not cancerous it can also compress parts of the spinal cord depending where it
is in the brain and can also stop the flow of blood in veins surrounding it.
Some symptoms of brain tumors can be someone experiencing a seizure for the first, usually occurring
in older patients. Because the all areas of the brain are what control the functions of the body, certain
areas where the brain tumor is located may cause gradual speech impairments, or physical
impairments such as difficulty walking. A lesser symptom of brain tumors would be headaches that
can be caused by compression of the tissue which can occur in any age of a patient with this type of

The Foundations Of The Canons
The Foundations of the Canons John 14: 26 states but the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father
will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said
to you (). This verse is an explanation from Christ about the role of the Holy Spirit in teaching and
recalling events that took place during his time on earth. It is through the witness of the Spirit that man
can determine the wheat from the chaff. () The early church had the writing of the Old Testament but
did not have a formal set of canonized books regarding the Messiah to draw their inspiration from.
Though they had letters from Apostles there were many heretical writings that were circulating
throughout the lands that were teaching doctrine different from those who knew Christ personally.
Josephus stated that no one had been bold enough to add, take away, or change the wording in the Old
Testament scripture (), this was what the Church was looking for in forming a canon that related to the
teaching of Christ; a type of written text that would be foundational therefore no one would want to
take away or add to it. The early church was using the four Gospels and the letters of many of the
Apostles in their church teachings. The churches focused on the importance of the authors being in a
first hand relationship or direct correlation to a disciple such as Mark was to Peter and Luke was to
Paul (). The Apostles took some time to write down their experiences because

Singapore s Upcoming 2020 General Elections Essay
Introduction
In light of Singapore s upcoming 2020 general elections, there are a few changes Singapore s electoral
system should embrace to ensure a more effective electoral process and accurate outcomes. A
condition for democracy to occur is to have free and fair elections as it depicts popular choice and
control over government. The People s Action Party (PAP) has dominated the political playing field
since 1965 and this resulted in Singapore being known as a model of soft authoritarianism with
limited democracy (Yeo. L.H, 2010). Although Singapore has seen an increase in the number of
opposition parties, these parties appear to be ineffective to compete against the PAP.
Singapore employs a unique multi party parliamentary system (Wikipedia). The President is the head
of state while the Prime Minister is the head of government. Presidential and parliamentary elections
follow the First Past The Post (FPTP) system. While it is the simplest form of plurality system, given
Singapore s growing multi ethnic population and rising number of opposition parties, this system may
not be as effective as before.
Hence, this essay will cover how the FPTP system is currently employed in Singapore, and the
evaluation of its effectiveness. I will also discuss briefly why I did not choose alternative electoral
systems such as Two Round System (TRS) and Party Block Vote (PBV) System. Lastly, I will proceed
to discuss about Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) System for Singapore that can

Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants Essay
WC: 754
Title: Sacred Moments
Close interpretation of the story quot;Hills Like White Elephants quot; by Ernest Hemingway leads
the reader to an issue that has plagued society for decades. Understanding of the human condition is
unveiled in the story line, the main setting, and through the character representation. The main
characters in the story are an American man and a female named Jig. The conflict about abortions is
an issue that still faces society today. Architectural and atmospheric symbolisms are used to set the
mood and outline the human condition. The love bond between the man and Jig is strong; however,
the more powerful bond between Jig and her unborn child is sacred.
Many years ago our society was filled with moral and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The station, a common ground or meeting place, is representative of the relationship between the
American and Jig. The tracks leading in and out of the station describe the emotional pathways each of
them takes. The American is almost exactly opposite to Jig, free spirited and not wanting a change. Jig
is love struck and torn. She has to decide between her love for the American man and her love of her
unborn child. The American is set on convincing Jig that there is no harm in what she is considering.
He tries to calm Jig by telling her quot;We ll be fine afterwards, just like we were before quot;(24). Jig
is not convinced. She is not as confident or as willing as the American to rush off into such a carefree
decision. The luggage, covered with hotel labels, plays a significant part in understanding how Jig
feels in regard to the decision that she had to make. She was obviously torn between remaining
reckless and carefree and making a family with the man she loved. Jig reacts almost visibly in their
conversation.
Building a social wall is the means to an end for Jig in the fight to make her decision. She is willing to
do almost anything for the American but is blocked by her motherly instinct to protect her child. The
American tells Jig quot;We can have everything quot;(24), quot;It s ours quot;(24), but she knows
better. quot; No, it isn t. And once they take it

Essay on Explication of William Blakes Poem London
Explication of William Blakes Poem London William Blake s poem London takes a complex look at
life in London, England during the late seventeen hundreds into the early eighteen hundreds as he
lived and experienced it. Blake s use of ambiguous and double meaning words makes this poem both
complex and interesting. Through the following explication I will unravel these complexities to show
how this is an interesting poem.
To better understand this poem some history about London during the time the poem was written is
helpful. London was the . . . undisputed cultural, economic, religious, educational, and political center
of England in the seventeen and eighteen hundreds. It was a city of warehouses, docks, factories,
prisons, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other rhyme techniques noticed are the rhyming end lines that follow an ABAB pattern. This rhyming
helps the poem flow and move along.
The first use of repetition can be seen in the first two lines, with the word chartered (1 2). In this case
the two words both have the same meaning but this is not always the case throughout the poem. Blake
uses chartered street (1) and chartered Thames (2) to describe public places to which everyone has
rights and privileges (chartered). Another meaning of chartered (1 2) that becomes more obvious as
we read further into the poem is that of a chart or map. Webster s dictionary says a chart is a sheet
giving information, form this we can deduce that the Thames or streets have information to give
(chart).
The last two lines of this first stanza have more repetition with the words mark and marks. The
speaker mark(ing) (3) every face is noticing the features or characterizing the people he meets. The
speaker than marks (4) or sees a visible clues. What the speaker sees is weakness and woe (4). Woe
can possibly be seen visually as in sadness, sorrow, or grief on the peoples faces, but weakness is not
really a visual sign. From Websters we find weakness means lacking in strength or vigor (weakness).
We learn later in the poem that this weekness is not referring to physical strength but to mental
strength.
After traveling about the public streets of London near the Thames river and

Health Improvement Strategies For Obesity And The Effect...
This essay shall look at the importance of health improvement strategies in relation to obesity and the
effect being obese has on young people. In particular the focus shall be on overcoming obesity and
reducing the risk of problems it could cause for individuals in later life. There are many health
improvement strategies in place for obesity which aim to encourage individuals to lose weight and
maintain a healthy lifestyle. I shall be focusing on in particular an app for smartphones called My Diet
Coach (Appendix 1). The app allows individuals to document their weight loss goals and allows
individuals to see how many calories there are in the meals they are preparing in order for the app to
determine how much exercise is needed in proportion to food intake. It also allows them to see how
many calories they are allowed to have day to day based on their height and weight. Apps are a great
way to implement health improvement strategies for young adults as most will own a smartphone
themselves.
Obesity is a growing problem not only in adults in the UK but also young adults. Public
Health England (2013) states that in 2007 the overall cost of obesity to the UK economy was
approximately £15.8 billion per year with £4.2 billion in cost to the NHS. Obesity is a particular
problem for young adults as it can cause them to be at an increased risk of developing various serious
health problems in later life such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, cancer and

The Effect Of Enzymes On The Concentration Of A Protein
Enzymes are catalysts that speed up chemical reactions without being used up in the process (Leady).
A catalyst helps speed up a chemical reaction without being changed during the reaction. Enzymes are
specific meaning that they can work with only a specific set of chemical reactions. Most enzyme
names end in ase. The shape of a protein is very important in its function for the reaction. The
molecule the enzyme works on is called a substrate. In order for this enzyme to work on this reaction
the substrate must first fit into an activation site. When an enzyme binds to its substrate, it is called an
enzyme substrate complex. The resulting chemicals from the reaction are called the products.
Enzymes can be affected by a few variables such as pH and temperature. All enzymes work best at a
specific temperature in the reaction to work. About an average human, enzymes work greatly at 98.6
Fahrenheit or 37.5 Celsius (Effect). The lower the temperatures are the slower the enzyme works. At
low temperatures, the enzyme does not work as well because there is not enough movement between
the molecules to have the substrate, and the enzyme meets and binds together. The higher
temperatures can cause a denature of an enzyme. This means that enzyme shape is changing making
the enzyme inactive. The reason is that enzymes are proteins that are made up of amino acids and at
high temperatures the hydrogen bonds break which then uncoils the protein and stops its function
(Enzymes). In

Legal Issues in Reduction of Workforce
Introduction: Fast serve; Incorporated is a $25 million company whose main product is direct
marketing of branded sports apparel. They have recently decided to end their online retail outlet.
Because of this draw down, they must also reduce their workforce. For this simulation, they must
decide to layoff 3 employees out of the 5 employees in the simulation. Beside work productivity,
reliability, skill sets, educational background and their employment status, Fast Serve Inc. must also
make their decision based on current employment laws. (University of Phoenix, 2008)

A quarter of the states and numerous cities do forbid discrimination based on sexual orientation, and
Congress could amend Title VII to protect employees from such discrimination. Already, thousands of
companies have begun offering domestic partner benefits to all employees without regard to sexual
orientation (Reed, Sheed, Morehead, Corley, 2004). In light of the development with his coworker,
along with his exceptional performance and skill set I believe that Carl still can be used by Fast Serve
in some capacity.
Jenny Mills
Jenny Mills: has an average overall performance record. She is a contract employee whose skills are
non critical to Fast Serve. She is also pregnant. Her pregnancy is causing her health problems, which
require that she take frequent breaks, more than the company usually allows. Jenny s frequent breaks
are causing conflict with the male employees in her department (Legal Environment of Business). The
Pregnancy Discrimination Act amended the Civil Rights Act in 1978. Under it, employers can no
longer discriminate against women workers who become pregnant or give birth. It also states that an
employer cannot force a pregnant woman to stop working until her baby is born, provided she is still
capable of performing her duties properly (Reed et al). The

Biodegradable Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery
Review: Biodegradable Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery
Introduction
With the many innovations in the disciplines of nanotechnology and drug delivery their merger is a
very advantages strategy transport of small molecular weight drugs and macromolecules for localized
or targeted delivery to the tissue of interest [1]. Nanotechnology will provided an outlet for conveying
therapeutic agents in biocompatible nanocomposites such as nanoparticles, nanocapsules, micellar
systems, and conjugates. With the rewards of the nano scale and interactions of these delivery
systems, remedies can be used to provide targeted delivery of drugs, to improve oral bioavailability, to
sustain drug/gene effect in target tissue, to solubilize drugs for intravascular delivery, and to improve
the stability of therapeutic agents against enzymatic degradation, especially of protein, peptide, and
nucleic acids drugs [1]. By tailoring polymer qualities, on can specify design factors that can control
the release of therapeutic agents to provide excellent targeting for optimal efficacy. The ability to
theses distant destinations, nanoparticles are led by bio specific ligand which could direct them to the
target tissue. The prime emphasis on the review will be the mechanism of their intracellular uptake,
different pathways of their uptake, intracellular trafficking and sorting into different intracellular
compartments, and the mechanism of enhanced therapeutic efficacy of the nanoparticle encapsulated

Unit 11 Assignment 2 Cardiovascular And Transport Systems
Unit 11 Assignment 2: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Systems M2. Explain the need for a transport
system in a multi cellular organism There are two types of cellular organisms: Unicellular organism
Multi cellular organism Unicellular Organism A unicellular organism is a single celled organism (one
cell), which is to rely on the process of diffusion, when moving different substances in and out of
other cells, due to its structure it has a larger surface area in comparison to its volume; this is because
each organism is built for a specific function. However, they transport materials such as oxygen and
urea in and out of bodies, through diffusion and osmosis. Multi cellular Organism A multi cellular is
consists of more than one cell, it has a small surface area, compared to its volume. This means that its
structure is specialised to do more than one function, especially exchanging surfaces, such as lungs,
and transporting systems. Its transportation system requires food and oxygen to be transported from
one place to another. Why do we need a transport system? The reason for having a transport system is
because the single celled organisms, also known as unicellular organism are small, meaning that they
have a large surface area, in comparison to their volume; a large surface area to volume ratio. As they
are known for having one cell, the substances diffuse through their relatively large plasma membrane.
This also means that they are able to diffuse

which eliminated any discrimination at the polls all over America, and the catalyst for these
happenings in Selma was Jimmie Lee Jackson. The historical drama, Selma, tells the story of Selma,
Alabama in 1965. It is not a documentary therefore, some details were changed, exaggerated or left
out due to the fact that this is a historical drama. The movie, Selma, serves the purpose of showing the
events in Selma and how they influenced the conclusion of the movie, the passing of the Voting Rights

Anthropomorphism And Nature
Though humans often boast of their inability to be swayed or persuaded against a belief, they are
easily malleable. The external environment plays a major role in the impressionable human
perception. An individual s view on certain aspects of their external environment, notably nature and
its species, relies largely on publications and visual depictions. Through reflecting upon the concept of
anthropomorphism, artists depictions of nature, and the common motif of nature and animals in the
plays of William Shakespeare, it is evident that a person s view of nature can be largely influenced by
art and literature. Moreover, an individual can learn to identify with nature on a personal and
emotional level. Anthropomorphism, loosely defined, is assigning human like characteristics to an
inanimate object, animal, or something that does not usually exhibit human characteristics. According
to the Oxford English Dictionary, the term originated in Greece in 1753 (Anthropomorphism, 1885).
Anthropo is a prefix related to anthropology, which studies humans, and morphism means to
change/morph. Anthropomorphism should not be confused with personification, however, which is the
assigning of human like characteristics to abstract thoughts, such as the weather. In the book Essays in
Anthropology, philosopher and author Robert Spaemann states that, [t]he concept of nature is now
taken to be anthropomorphic (Spaemann, 2010, p. 35). Spaemann s intention with this statement was

Meditation Session At The Vajradhara Buddhist Center
I am very excited about this field experience. It has been the one I have been looking forward to all
semester. I chose to attend an Introduction to Meditation session at the Vajradhara Buddhist Center. I
chose this for my Religious Service because I have always wondered what the teachings of Buddhism
are. The Vajradhara Center offers these introduction sessions every Wednesday at 7 p.m. I went to the
Week 1 session on November 4th, the first Wednesday of the month. I found out about this session just
by googling Buddhist centers Charlotte, NC . This center has many great reviews on various websites,
so I thought it was a great fit. About to have the experience of going to a Buddhist Center, I think I am
really expecting to enjoy this session, mostly because I have always been intrigued by the teachings
and morals of Buddha and how they can be achieved through meditation. I have grown up non
religious, which I think makes this experience more interesting because I have nothing to compare it
to. I expect this session to be sort of intimidating at first because it is a new experience. I also believe
that I will not be very comfortable, at first, while meditating. Through research, I hope to find out
ways to adjust and to fully understand why meditation is important in Buddhism. Most importantly, I
am excited to attend this session.
Background Research
Meditation is used for many other reasons than for religious purposes. The main idea is to generate a

Creative Self Efficacy
Creative self efficacy, which refers to the employee s beliefs about his/her ability to perform the job
creatively, may relate to company image (Aragón Correa et al., 2007, Wang and Lin, 2012, Gong et
al., 2009). For instance, Aragón Correa et al. (2007) have investigated the relationship between
leadership and organisational learning s role on innovation and performance. They employed SEM as
the analysis tool with 408 useable questionnaires (response rate 45.33%). Aragón Correa et al. assert
that firm innovation has a positive impact on organisational performance. Accordingly, organisational
learning s role on innovation may relate to creative self efficacy which refers to employee s ability to
perform the job in innovative way. Whilst, one of organisational performance indicator is company
image. Hence, it may assume that creative efficacy may lead to company image. Moreover, Wang and
Lin (2012) have examined the antecedents of innovation performance. They conducted their study in
Taiwan by using 302 responses from 30 large IT companies (response rate 67.11%). Wang and Lin
reveal that innovation self efficacy leads to innovation performance. Innovation performance may
relate to organisational performance. Whilst, one of organisational performance indicators is company
image. Arguably, creative efficacy may also have an impact on company image. For example, when a
company has a better employee s creative self efficacy, its employees will perform their job creatively

The Benefits Of New Media And Technology
What is the self in the digital age? One might say that their true online self is on Facebook, or
MySpace, or maybe Instagram. The splintering of the self into multiple versions illustrates a desire to
see what one can be online. Truly, new media and technology has allowed one to find their true inner
self, whether that reflect their real self in real life or not. Yet, not everyone sees these disparate selves
with optimism. Sherry Turkle and Natasha Schüll see the growth of new media and technology as
detrimental to the formation of our true selves and both critically analyze specific cases where it can
be harmful. I, however, disagree with the sentiment that new media and technology is something
inherently harmful. Although they can certainly be misused, the benefits of these digital innovations
can, when applied with critical understanding, outweigh the negatives brought up by Turkle and
Schüll. First, Turkle argues that social media is preventing adolescents from dedicating time to self
reflection and replacing face to face communication with online communication. Turkle states in her
book, Alone Together, that teens need time to discover themselves, time to think. But technology, put
in the service of always on communication and telegraphic speed and brevity, has changed the rules of
engagement with all of this. Here, Turkle state that since social media is easily accessible and
immediate, teenagers will be compelled to interact online, instead of taking the

skylight, you won t have to do that. It ll give you light without giving you harsh sun rays.
Spacious Square Footage
The interior of the gazebo is 120 square feet. It s 10 feet by 12 feet with a height of 10 feet. The 10
feet of clearance means that you can hang lights or a fan in your gazebo without anyone hitting their
head on the additions. There s a center hook for installing your favorite light or chandelier, too.
All of that square footage will give you extra living space in your home. You can use it for
entertaining, or just lounging outdoors with the kids. Instead of everyone in the house, this will get the
kids out of the house into a space that gives you peace and quiet.
Sturdy Frame
The frame is made of steel, too. There are decorative elements to each leg that actually make them
even sturdier than simple gazebo legs. There are 6 pieces of steel on each side of the double legs.

Analysis Of Octavia Butler s Science Fiction Classic
Bloodchild Analysis Octavia Butler s science fiction classic Bloodchild is the coming of age story told
from the point of view of Gan. The story takes place on an alien planet the very night that Gan
becomes a man. One might expect a highly masculine, ritualistic ceremony or event, but Butler turns
the tables. In order to become a man Gan must be impregnated by an insectoid like alien named T
Gatoi. Cages have often been symbolic in literature as a means of subjugation, the cages in Bloodchild
are imperative to the story in the same way. Through the explicit use of imagery, metaphor, prose and
irony, Butler creates a story reflective of the sufferings of American Slavery, of life as an African
American woman and causes the reader to reevaluate the way they treat others. Bloodchild has won
multiple awards including the Nebula and Hugo Awards and an award for best science fiction
novelette from the Science Fiction Chronicle (Heifitz). Butler gains literary notability by creating a
work so horrifyingly believable, that is reflective of slavery and discrimination, it is a powerful story
that pushes the reader to thoughts and ideas that might not have otherwise been explored. Similar to
how some African American slaves accepted their treatment, Gan accepts the cages. The first three
mentions of cages come at the beginning of the tale. T Gatoi enters Gan s home, offering gifts. She
and Gan embrace and Gan notices that this action made the others feel caged (Butler 3).

  • 2. Persuasive Essay Why Do We Dream There is a question that has baffled many psychologists and curious minds for centuries the question is why do we dream? Do we dream to save our mind from insanity and stress or is it because it s a natural process? There is one thing for certain though most people dream, the question is can they remember it. The truth is all creatures can enter a certain type of REM sleep but it s uncertain if they experience dreams on a human plane of thought. When we enter REM sleep our Rapid Eye Movement stage of sleep the deepest part of our sleep, the human body undergoes a temporary paralysis to stop the sleeping person from potential harmful movement. The dreaming process usually happens in this stage, but has been reported in NREM sleep. Some individuals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Political Definition Of Fascism For the average citizen of a nation, the political definition of fascism and even the word itself has been left out of people s everyday vernacular. The most recent extent of fascism that people can remember is Adolf Hitler s era of political control over seventy two years. In recent decades, however, European Countries and even the United States of America have seen a recent rise in fascist leaning ideologies and political parties due in part to online development, Immigration and elections trends, and a paradoxical view of tolerance. These recent trends have signaled that fascism is still a problem and presents a clear danger to society and democratic principles at large. While the general ideology was technically developed by Italian Dictator and ally to Hitler, Benito Mussolini, it is Adolf Hitler himself who is best known as the face of fascist movements of the past and movements today. In early 1930 s Germany, Hitler was able to capitalize on the social and economic woes of a country who felt disenfranchised and left behind by the world. By promoting ideas of German nationalism including a strong German military, a strong pure German culture and nation, and using minority groups such as the Jew s as a scapegoat, Hitler was able to take control of Germany and institute a Fascist system of government and create the similar ideological trends we see in Fascist idea s and similar groups today. Today fascism as an ideology and movements linked with fascism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Nao Symbolism Time being means temporary action, which will definitely change. For example, life is time being. We never know what will happen to us in the next seconds, hours, days, months, or even years. Or, a super huge tsunami which is much bigger and powerful than the tsunami that crashed Japan on March 11, 2011 could destroy New York City in the next second. Besides, we are able to change our life and become a billionaire by winning the New York Lottery. Furthermore, In A Tale of the Time Being, during the summer vacation, Nao and Jiko really have fun that they go to the seaside and have a picnic at the beach (P.189 195). Nevertheless, a few months after the summer vacation is over, Jiko is dying and lying on her futon like a pathetic ancient child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Besides that, the fish symbolizes Nao s spirt and desire of freedom like a swimming fish in the ocean. Also, the fish implies the water that the author uses to establish interesting plots like tsunami in order to enrich the whole story. The crow is the symbolism of death, darkness, and mystery. When Ruth is looking for Pesto in the forest, the crows warn (P.331) Ruth to stay away, which connote the death of Pesto. Likewise, the author, Ozeki, uses the crows appearance to imply that Jiko s death day is near future. The cat, Pesto, is a trouble maker. He is always doing bad things like leaving the squirrel organs on the sidewalk of Ruth and Oliver s bed room (P.9). The author uses Pesto s behavior to imply that Oliver is also a naughty person. Because Pesto and Oliver are a team, wherever Oliver dose or go, Pesto follows (P.9). The owner, Haruki #2, of these belongings, the diary, the letters, and the watch, died in suicidal action that he chose to crash his plane into the ocean (P.386). Nao packs her diary and the diary, the letters, the watch that belonged to her great uncle, Haruki # 2, for she wants to share this great honor with her great uncle that she has just finished recording her first book which with the title of A la recherche ... • 5. Chicago Bear Today Research Paper Chicago Bears Today vs. 1985 The Chicago Bears are a completely different team today than they were in 1985. The Bears today do not have the caliber of players. The stats are a big factor in proving my point. From passing to receiving yards and even rushing. In the following paragraphs, I will highlight some of the stats from 1985 and some from today s teams. In today s games, the stats are not very impressive. The Bears current starting QB is Matt Berkley. Completing only 129 passes for 1611 yards is not an impressive feat in the NFL. He has only thrown 8 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. The leading receiver, Cameron Meredith, has 66 catches for 888 yards. He has fumbled the ball 3 times and lost the ball twice during those 3 fumbles. His ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Edward De Veere s Influence On Shakespeare Nearly ten percent of the most quoted lines in the English language are accredited to William Shakespeare. But should this be the case? Many scholars argue that Shakespeare is not the author of his plays. In fact, none other than Edward de Vere comes to the forefront of this controversy. De Vere was highly educated, had a biographical connection to some of the characters in Shakespeare s plays and had a similar writing structure to Shakespeare. The evidence is clear that William from Stratfor did not write his plays, but rather Edward de Vere did. De Vere was fully qualified to write the thorough pieces of work that were attributed to Shakespeare. According to BBC America, de Vere was highly educated and trained as a lawyer . Since a multitude of Shakespeare s plays deal with legal matters, the author must have been familiar with the law system, which de Vere was. According to Britannica, de Vere studied with Arthur Golding (who translated Metamorphoses by Ovid, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Britannica, [de Vere s] poems apparently ceased just before Shakespeare s work began to appear (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica). De Vere started writing through poetry, but soon after his career halted, Shakespeare s writing started to be seen. It is believed that de Vere stopped writing under his own name in order to protect his family from the social stigma that was associated with the theater. Therefore, de Vere began writing under another name, Shakespeare. This theory is also proven by the fact that de Vere s work was similar to Shakespeare s. As stated in Absolute Shakespeare, they both used six line pentameter stanzas ( De Vere Authorship Argument ). This is is significant because this type of poetry was not used very commonly among poets of Shakespeare s time. The similarities between de Vere and Shakespeare s poems shows the potential authorship de Vere could have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Biography and Book Report on Shaul Magid BACKGROUND OF SHAUL MAGID Shaul Magid is a professor of religious studies and the Jay and Jeannie Schottenstein Chair of Jewish Studies in Modern Judaism at Indiana University. In addition, on the site he says that he grew up in a secular Jewish household in New York and then become serious about religion at the age of 20 in which he dove deeply into the world of Hasidism. He says that he is fascinated by the complex nexus of Judaism and American counterculture of his youth and writes about the topic as a scholar rather then an observer. In the introduction he states that, proximity does not by definition produce bias. Investment does not necessarily yield apologetics. The best critic, perhaps, is one who is open... about what is at stake, collectively and personally, in his or her scholarly projects (confirm that!!) INTRODUCTION: Magid s brilliant introduction really sets the tone for the rest of his book. American Jews or Jewish Americans? American Judaism or Judaism in America? One is; the other describes. It is without question that America has offered Jews the most loving society in the Jewish Diaspora, but at the same time it is also proving to be problematic. Jews are in a current state of transition in that they have to figure out a way to adapt their Jewishness beyond their ethnicity. The Jewish leaders in America have been wondering how to handle the sky rocketing assimilation and intermarriage rates, because they are fearful that it will lead to the end of not ... • 10. Gold Rush In California Thomas Fuller once said we never know the worth of water till the well is dry (Fuller). As a species we need water to cook, clean, and most importantly live. With water being a natural resource overuse and misuses of it can cause its supply to rapidly dwindle down, and that s exactly what s happening in California right now. California s water comes a married of places such as aquifers, groundwater, surface water, rivers, reservoirs, dams and irrigation systems where 80% of that water goes towards agriculture and 20% to urban/residential use. California s water supply is so substandard that the state can t even say their predicament is a drought, but it can be classified as a crisis. • 11. Noah Vs Gilgamesh Various culture around the world at various times have written myths about catastrophic floods. These myths contain different reasons and purposes behind the flood and why it was sent. Two of the most notable and strikingly different flood accounts are Noah and the great flood found in Genesis, and the Sumerian flood found in the Epic of Gilgamesh. The differences in these flood accounts are who started the flood, the way these two cultures related to the divine, and blank. The first major difference in these two tales is who initiated the flood. In the genesis account the flood is initiated by one God, because the Jewish people where monotheistic. This notion of one god also unifies the twelve tribes of Israel into one people. The ten commandments provide an excellent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Genesis account, God s reward for Noah s justness, is that he will be allowed to live, and his family will repopulate the Earth. I will not again curse the ground any more for man s sake; for the imagination of man s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more everything living, as I have done. God s reward to all of humanity is to never destroy the world again regardless of humanities wickedness and sinfulness. The Jews interpreted these things as the mercy and forgiveness of God. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Utnapishtim receives a very different reward then Noah did in Genesis. He touched our forehead and, standing between us, he blessed us: Previously Utnapishtim was a human being. But now let Utnapishtim and his wife become like us, the gods! Utnapishtim and his wife were granted immortality, but the rest of the people received nothing. • 12. Character Development In Beloved Beloved is a novel by Toni Morrison based on slavery after the Civil War in the year 1873, and the hardships that come with being a slave. This story involves a runaway captive named Sethe, who commits a heinous crime to protect her child from the horrors of slavery. Through her traumas, Sethe runs from the past and tries to live a normal life. The theme of Toni Morrison s story Beloved is how people cannot escape the past. Every character relates their hard comings to the past through setting, character development, and conflict. The primary locations in this novel is in Sweet Home, a small farm containing slaves in Kentucky, and 124 Bluestone Road on the edge of Cincinnati, Ohio. Although the novel starts out in the home of Sethe and her daughter, Denver, Sweet Home is where Sethe s experiences to the past begins. In Sweet Home, the slave system was taken over by Mr. and Mrs. Garner, a kind couple who treated their slaves like human beings. 124 becomes personified through the paranormal activities in the house, and through the chapter names; 124 was spiteful, 124 was loud, and 124 was quiet. Mr. Bodwin, the owner of 124, tells how the house has a history of paranoia, Women died there: his mother, grandmother, an aunt and an older sister before he was born (259). Through character development, the story also portrays the theme of escaping the past. Sethe s actions are influenced heavily by her dead child, Beloved. • 13. Security Concerns In Health Care Essay Issues of Security Concern With the enthusiastic adoption of health information technology tools, there has always been this fear for users the threat to privacy and security. It is indeed one of the biggest concerns since the advent of new technological record keeping and the electronic health information technology. Healthcare professionals should be aware and very conscious of the fact that healthcare information is very personal. It should also be known that whatsoever transfer of information amongst providers, via any information technology took involves a lot of risks: one of which is the risk of the information getting into the wrong hands. The task of enforcing this privacy and security issue has been given to the office of the national coordinator (ONC) (Hagland, 2011). Their job is to ensure that private information remains private, and also secured. The ONC upheld some regulations under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) (Mitka, 2013). Lecture notes and readings from class will be provided to back this characterization and fundamentally shape an analysis, particularly one aimed to make on the recent political and cultural events in Hong Kong. Evidently the circulating effects of globalization and economic policy have rendered islands of Hong Kong into major tourist attractions. For instance, Cause Bay and Wan Chai are two colorful districts that offer thrilling nightclubs and stupendous ethnic restaurants. Other locations nearby like Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok draw people to its many exhibits of Chinese culture and specialty shops. Unfortunately, I have not yet experienced these places but I am convinced after gaining some experience walking in New York s Chinatown, why Hong Kong no longer lives up to it s meaning: Fragrant Harbor. Also, it was coincidental finding unappetizing comments left by Tourists on travel websites. They all dismissed the city s reputation of possessing perfumed sights and sounds with the scents of opium spices and incense to be historical or mythological. Instead, these tourists who clearly were disappointed enough to share their experiences online, reported smelling overbearing stenches of dead fish and rotten cabbage, similarly to what I encountered in Chinatown, New York. This verse is an explanation from Christ about the role of the Holy Spirit in teaching and recalling events that took place during his time on earth. It is through the witness of the Spirit that man can determine the wheat from the chaff. () The early church had the writing of the Old Testament but did not have a formal set of canonized books regarding the Messiah to draw their inspiration from. Though they had letters from Apostles there were many heretical writings that were circulating throughout the lands that were teaching doctrine different from those who knew Christ personally. Josephus stated that no one had been bold enough to add, take away, or change the wording in the Old Testament scripture (), this was what the Church was looking for in forming a canon that related to the teaching of Christ; a type of written text that would be foundational therefore no one would want to take away or add to it. The early church was using the four Gospels and the letters of many of the Apostles in their church teachings. • 20. Singapore s Upcoming 2020 General Elections Essay Introduction In light of Singapore s upcoming 2020 general elections, there are a few changes Singapore s electoral system should embrace to ensure a more effective electoral process and accurate outcomes. A condition for democracy to occur is to have free and fair elections as it depicts popular choice and control over government. The People s Action Party (PAP) has dominated the political playing field since 1965 and this resulted in Singapore being known as a model of soft authoritarianism with limited democracy (Yeo. L.H, 2010). Although Singapore has seen an increase in the number of opposition parties, these parties appear to be ineffective to compete against the PAP. Singapore employs a unique multi party parliamentary system (Wikipedia). The President is the head of state while the Prime Minister is the head of government. Presidential and parliamentary elections follow the First Past The Post (FPTP) system. While it is the simplest form of plurality system, given Singapore s growing multi ethnic population and rising number of opposition parties, this system may not be as effective as before. Hence, this essay will cover how the FPTP system is currently employed in Singapore, and the evaluation of its effectiveness. I will also discuss briefly why I did not choose alternative electoral systems such as Two Round System (TRS) and Party Block Vote (PBV) System. Lastly, I will proceed to discuss about Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) System for Singapore that can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This rhyming helps the poem flow and move along. The first use of repetition can be seen in the first two lines, with the word chartered (1 2). In this case the two words both have the same meaning but this is not always the case throughout the poem. Blake uses chartered street (1) and chartered Thames (2) to describe public places to which everyone has rights and privileges (chartered). Another meaning of chartered (1 2) that becomes more obvious as we read further into the poem is that of a chart or map. Webster s dictionary says a chart is a sheet giving information, form this we can deduce that the Thames or streets have information to give (chart). The last two lines of this first stanza have more repetition with the words mark and marks. The speaker mark(ing) (3) every face is noticing the features or characterizing the people he meets. The speaker than marks (4) or sees a visible clues. What the speaker sees is weakness and woe (4). Woe can possibly be seen visually as in sadness, sorrow, or grief on the peoples faces, but weakness is not really a visual sign. In particular the focus shall be on overcoming obesity and reducing the risk of problems it could cause for individuals in later life. There are many health improvement strategies in place for obesity which aim to encourage individuals to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I shall be focusing on in particular an app for smartphones called My Diet Coach (Appendix 1). The app allows individuals to document their weight loss goals and allows individuals to see how many calories there are in the meals they are preparing in order for the app to determine how much exercise is needed in proportion to food intake. A catalyst helps speed up a chemical reaction without being changed during the reaction. Enzymes are specific meaning that they can work with only a specific set of chemical reactions. Most enzyme names end in ase. The shape of a protein is very important in its function for the reaction. The molecule the enzyme works on is called a substrate. In order for this enzyme to work on this reaction the substrate must first fit into an activation site. When an enzyme binds to its substrate, it is called an enzyme substrate complex. The resulting chemicals from the reaction are called the products. Enzymes can be affected by a few variables such as pH and temperature. All enzymes work best at a specific temperature in the reaction to work. About an average human, enzymes work greatly at 98.6 Fahrenheit or 37.5 Celsius (Effect). The lower the temperatures are the slower the enzyme works. At low temperatures, the enzyme does not work as well because there is not enough movement between the molecules to have the substrate, and the enzyme meets and binds together. The higher temperatures can cause a denature of an enzyme. This means that enzyme shape is changing making the enzyme inactive. The reason is that enzymes are proteins that are made up of amino acids and at high temperatures the hydrogen bonds break which then uncoils the protein and stops its function (Enzymes). In ... Explain the need for a transport system in a multi cellular organism There are two types of cellular organisms: Unicellular organism Multi cellular organism Unicellular Organism A unicellular organism is a single celled organism (one cell), which is to rely on the process of diffusion, when moving different substances in and out of other cells, due to its structure it has a larger surface area in comparison to its volume; this is because each organism is built for a specific function. However, they transport materials such as oxygen and urea in and out of bodies, through diffusion and osmosis. Multi cellular Organism A multi cellular is consists of more than one cell, it has a small surface area, compared to its volume. This means that its structure is specialised to do more than one function, especially exchanging surfaces, such as lungs, and transporting systems. Its transportation system requires food and oxygen to be transported from one place to another. Why do we need a transport system? The reason for having a transport system is because the single celled organisms, also known as unicellular organism are small, meaning that they have a large surface area, in comparison to their volume; a large surface area to volume ratio. As they are known for having one cell, the substances diffuse through their relatively large plasma membrane. This also means that they are able to diffuse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The external environment plays a major role in the impressionable human perception. An individual s view on certain aspects of their external environment, notably nature and its species, relies largely on publications and visual depictions. Through reflecting upon the concept of anthropomorphism, artists depictions of nature, and the common motif of nature and animals in the plays of William Shakespeare, it is evident that a person s view of nature can be largely influenced by art and literature. Moreover, an individual can learn to identify with nature on a personal and emotional level. Anthropomorphism, loosely defined, is assigning human like characteristics to an inanimate object, animal, or something that does not usually exhibit human characteristics. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the term originated in Greece in 1753 (Anthropomorphism, 1885). Anthropo is a prefix related to anthropology, which studies humans, and morphism means to change/morph. Anthropomorphism should not be confused with personification, however, which is the assigning of human like characteristics to abstract thoughts, such as the weather. The splintering of the self into multiple versions illustrates a desire to see what one can be online. Truly, new media and technology has allowed one to find their true inner self, whether that reflect their real self in real life or not. Yet, not everyone sees these disparate selves with optimism. Sherry Turkle and Natasha Schüll see the growth of new media and technology as detrimental to the formation of our true selves and both critically analyze specific cases where it can be harmful. I, however, disagree with the sentiment that new media and technology is something inherently harmful. Although they can certainly be misused, the benefits of these digital innovations can, when applied with critical understanding, outweigh the negatives brought up by Turkle and Schüll. Turkle states in her book, Alone Together, that teens need time to discover themselves, time to think. But technology, put in the service of always on communication and telegraphic speed and brevity, has changed the rules of engagement with all of this. The story takes place on an alien planet the very night that Gan becomes a man. One might expect a highly masculine, ritualistic ceremony or event, but Butler turns the tables. In order to become a man Gan must be impregnated by an insectoid like alien named T Gatoi. Cages have often been symbolic in literature as a means of subjugation, the cages in Bloodchild are imperative to the story in the same way. Through the explicit use of imagery, metaphor, prose and irony, Butler creates a story reflective of the sufferings of American Slavery, of life as an African American woman and causes the reader to reevaluate the way they treat others. Bloodchild has won multiple awards including the Nebula and Hugo Awards and an award for best science fiction novelette from the Science Fiction Chronicle (Heifitz). Butler gains literary notability by creating a work so horrifyingly believable, that is reflective of slavery and discrimination, it is a powerful story that pushes the reader to thoughts and ideas that might not have otherwise been explored. Similar to how some African American slaves accepted their treatment, Gan accepts the cages. The first three mentions of cages come at the beginning of the tale. T Gatoi enters Gan s home, offering gifts. She and Gan embrace and Gan notices that this action made the others feel caged (Butler 3). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
