Determinism Essay
Crafting an essay on the concept of determinism poses a unique set of challenges. First and
foremost, the very nature of determinism itself can be complex and multifaceted. Exploring the
philosophical, scientific, and ethical dimensions of determinism requires a comprehensive
understanding of various disciplines.
One significant difficulty lies in navigating the intricate web of arguments and counterarguments
that surround determinism. Different philosophical schools of thought, such as existentialism,
compatibilism, and hard determinism, present contrasting viewpoints that demand careful
consideration. Juggling these perspectives while maintaining coherence in the essay can be a
daunting task.
Furthermore, delving into the scientific aspects of determinism involves grappling with concepts
from physics, biology, and psychology. Explaining the interplay between causality and
determinism in these diverse fields requires a balance between depth and accessibility, making
the content understandable to a broad audience.
Another challenge is to avoid reductionism and oversimplification. Determinism, with its
nuanced implications for free will and moral responsibility, invites exploration of the human
experience in intricate detail. It's essential to resist the temptation to oversimplify this intricate
subject matter, as doing so may undermine the depth of the analysis.
In addition, weaving a compelling narrative that engages the reader and sustains interest
throughout the essay is crucial. The inherent abstractness of determinism can potentially distance
the reader if not presented in a relatable and engaging manner.
Despite these challenges, the process of writing an essay on determinism can be intellectually
rewarding. The opportunity to explore profound questions about the nature of reality, human
agency, and the limits of predictability can lead to a richer understanding of our existence.
In conclusion, tackling a determinism essay requires navigating intricate philosophical debates,
comprehending scientific theories, and maintaining a delicate balance between complexity and
accessibility. Successfully addressing these challenges can result in a thought-provoking and
intellectually stimulating piece of writing.

Political Status of the Disputed Territories
Political status of the disputed territories The political status between the nations of
Israel and Palestine is a continuing crisis that began upon Israel s formation shortly
after the conclusion of World War II. Many small scale wars and battles have been
fought over the years killing many and intensifying the region. The political situation
sees many Western forces providing economic and military support for Israel. The
conflict lies in two general areas: religious idolatry and the formation of an officially
recognized Palestinian state. The political status of Cyprus is fragmented and
uncertain. Cyprus has been in disarray since 1974 when Turkey inserted military
forces geographically and politically dividing the island nation. Since this time
political tension between the Greek and Turkish Cypriots has been constant. United
Nations involvement has inserted some relief but a new hydrocarbon discovery off
the coast of Cyprus has reignited tensions about who has the rights to the potential
economic windfall. After the Soviet breakup in the late 1980 s many new political
situations arose. Such is the case in Nagorno Karabakh as Armenian political forces
stand in opposition to Azerbaijan. Armenian secessionists using the Soviet absence as
an impetus, began a conflict to escape Azerbaijan rule. Religion plays a role in this
conflict as the Christian Armenians, under perceived persecution have fought for
independence. The political status of the warring nations have
The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls
Romanticism essay Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote The Tide Rises, The Tide
Falls he writes it about how the ocean never stops and Mother Nature will always .
In this poem, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow talks about how the ocean is consistent
and is never changing, while men are always evolving. The poem proves that natureis
superior to man. In this article the author describes how Mother Nature will out live
the humanrace.
Mother Nature has been around for an unimaginably long amount of time prior to
the existence of human beings. It is reasonable to expect that human beings will
not exist forever especially the way we re going now and that therefore Mother
Nature will long outlast us (Does Mother Nature Rule The World). In the book The
Tide Rises, The Tide Falls Longfellod talks about how the sea is everlasting while
the footprints are erasable, along the sea sand damp and brown the traveler hastens
toward the town ( Longfellow). Longfellow uses very good imagery to give the
reader a better feel for what is going on. In the article Does Mother Nature Rule The
World it talks about how the earthcan run its self while humans have to run each
other. Like in the article Without the earth we could not... Show more content on

Without the earth we couldn t BREATHE, let alone anything else. Mother Earth is
our life source. Yet if we weren t here the earth would not only survive but would
prosper ( Does Mother Nature Rule The World). While in the Tide Tide Rises, The
Tide Falls the author describes the same thing just in a different way such as, The day
returns, but nevermore Returns the traveller to the shore, And the tide rises, the tide
falls (The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls). Both authors really tried to get the point across
that with out air you cannot breath. Both authors tried to set the mood that you

The Veldt By Ray Bradbury
The Veldt by Ray Bradbury focuses on the unintended consequences of parents letting
their two children have unregulated use of technology. Bradbury conveys tone
through imagery, diction, similes, and sentence structure. In this story, Bradbury
repeats a set of sentences. He writes a long, smooth, flowing sentence followed by a
series of short, choppy sentences. The long sentence draws the reader into an African
scene, while the short sentences, such as the lions came running at them , abruptly
ends the fantasy and makes the danger of the situation feel quite real (Bradbury).
This creates a tone shift from calm with a sense of amazement to anxious and
fearful. Diction also plays a large role in creating a more dramatic tone shift. Bradbury
Indigo Financial Analysis
Introduction
History
Indigo Books Music Inc. started as many separate individually owned bookstores.
Coles and SmithBooks were the first bookstores to open in Canada. In 1995 they
merged to form Chapters which became the largest book retailer in Canada. In 1996
Indigo was founded by Heather Reisman. Eventually in 2001, Chapters and Indigo
merged together to form Indigo Books Music Inc. In order to keep up with the
changing market, Indigo now aims to sell more non book merchandise. In 2006,
Indigo opened up new locations in Brossard, and Toronto. 2009, Indigo creates
Kobo which is now a global eReading company operating in over 100 countries. To
keep retaining loyal customers, Indigo launched the plum rewards program in 2011.

Although there are no major changes to the operations of Indigo, it is evident that as
a result of having a negative net income indicates problems with the company
operations. It becomes more worrying as Indigo s revenue is declining as a result
being unable to increase the amount of profit. They are still unable to cut expenses
down enough to maintain a positive net income.
Ratios The 8 ratios that are best used to evaluate indigo are current ratio, debt ratio,
rate of return on owner s equity, price earnings, inventory turnover, interest coverage
ratio, dividend payout ratio, and accounts receivables collection period.
Current Ratio Current ratio indicates a company s ability to pay off short term
liabilities. Starting at 2012, the current ratio of Indigo was 1.98, very close to the
desired ratio of 2. However since 2015, the current ratio has declined by 0.09 to
1.89. This shows the company is not in as stable of a financial standpoint as 2012,
due to a lower ability to pay off short term liabilities. However, when compared to
the industrial and sector averages, 1.78 and 1.77 respectively, Indigo actually comes
out as above average. This suggests that despite, a lowered ability to return short
term liabilities, Indigo is still very capable at returning short term liabilities as a result
of the nature of the industry and
The Return Of Depression Economics
2008 Economics Noble Prize winner and Princeton University professor, Paul
Krugman, translates the roots of modern and prior financial crisis economics. In his
book, The Return of Depression Economics and The Crisis of 2008, Krugman first
educates the reader of historical and foreign financial crises which allows for a
deeper understanding of the modern financial system. The context provided from the
historical analysis proves to be a crucial prospective in such a way that the rest of
Krugman s narrative about modern finance continually relates back to the historical
analysis. From there, Krugman analyzes and updates his prior studies done on the
Asian financial crisis. He then applies his knowledge from historical events to the
modern day financial struggles and argues his opinion about how and why our
financial world operates the way it does. Krugman explains his perspective that the
world believed that depression economicswas no longer a problem, however the
Asian crisis, Japan s liquidity trap and the Latin American crisis having acted as
warning signals to modern market struggles. Thus he says that this subject needs
further examination and more resources should be poured into it. For Krugman,
Depression Economics is still a relevant problem and should be further studied.
On top of simply translating past and present financial systems, Krugman dissects the
interconnection between economics and politics. Starting with the rise of socialism,
many governments took on
Zebra In Life Of Pi
In the Life of Pi by Yann Martel, he cleverly creates two stories with completely
different characters that tell the same story. In the story with the animals: the zebra
is the injured Japanese sailor, the orangutan is Pi s mother, the hyena is the cook,
and the tiger is Pi. However, they seem to stand for more than just another
character in a story. Each of their different actions appear to represent a separate
part of Pi s psyche. In order to fully understand Pi, it is necessary to understand the
animals and their connection to him. The zebra is the first to die at the paws of the
hyena, and stands for Pi s initial fear of the open ocean and the animals on board. The
orangutan, Orange Juice, is said to have been kind, innocent, and maternal,

The visual cortex is related to the primary visual cortex, labeled V1 and Brodmann
area 17, and extrastriate visual cortical areas V2 V5. [12] Located in the occipital
lobe, V1 functions as the primary relay station for visual input, transferring
information to two main ways marks the dorsal and ventral streams. The flow back
covers V2 and V5 areas and is used for visual interpretation where and how. The
ventral stream comprises areas V2 and V4, and is used in the interpretation of what.

they had to eliminate in order to accomplish this goal. However, if Americans would

The outcome of Chief Cochise s speech was excellent while he was alive. The Chief
honored and respected his word and the compromise made with the Americans. As a
result of his admirable achievement, there was peace between the Chiricahua Apaches
and Americans until the Chief died in 1874 (Watts 48).
Many events in the life of Chief Cochise stimulated and influenced the content and
purpose of his speech. Beginning at his birth in 1805 in southern Arizona, the Apache
had beat the Spanish colonizers (as he mentions in the speech) making them a very
strong tribe (Watts 46). Born to the Chiricahua Apache tribe, Cochise soon became
the main leader of the tribe ( Cochise 1). The now Chief Cochise was responsible
and in charge of many of the consequences and decisions made in his tribe. Among
these decisions was whether to keep peace or war with other people and/or tribes.
Throughout his life, Cochise was the leader of many wars against new settlers
pursuing to take his land. His idea to continue war was altered after witnessing the
deaths of his people in these wars. Cochise was falsely accused of kidnapping a boy
and was captured by an American colonel;

The Worst Royals Were Born
In the year of 1754 and 1755, the worst royals were born. Their childish and
ignorant behavior would soon spark the start of the French Revolution. On August
23, 1754, King Louis Auguste de France was born in the Palace of Versailles. He
was the third son of Louis, Grand Dauphin, and Duchess Maria Anna Victoria of
Bavaria. At a young age, Louis was forced to take on responsibility. As a shy child,
this was not the best decision for his guardians to make. Louis parents paid very
little attention to him, and instead to his older brother, soon to be king, Louis Duc
de Bourgogne. ( Louis XVI Biography) In the 60 s of the 18th century, Louis life
would turn upside down. In the year of 1761, Louis Duc de Bourgogne died. Then
on December 20, 1765, Louis father died of tuberculosis, a potentially serious
infectious bacterial disease that mainly affects the lungs. This tragedy gave Louis
Auguste the title Dauphin when he was only eleven. Even though Louis took the
deaths hard, his mother took it worse. Not recovering from their deaths, she
eventually died on March 13, 1767, of the same disease as her deceased husband.
Once his parents died, his mentors began to prepare him for the throne. He studied
more about religion, morality, and humanities, although; he excelled in Latin, history,
geography, and astronomy and became very fluent in both Italian and English. His
mentors also told him to develop a sense of austerity, to make his life a bit easier. As
a result, he became

Supreme Court implemented the four pronged Sell Test. Per the holding of Sell, in
order to physically subdue and forcibly medicate a sick defendant who has not
consented to treatment, the government must demonstrate by presenting clear and
convincing evidence, that such treatment is substantially likely to make the sick
defendant well enough to stand trial. See Sell v. United States, 539 U.S. 166, 180, 123

The court held that the expert medical witness testimony regarding the Herbel Study,
his own experiences as a physician, and the medical record of the defendant did not
provide enough evidence to justify the forced medication of the defendant even

due to its design and did not justify the forced medication of the defendant because
the information provided about its subjects was neither similar enough nor specific
enough to the situation of the defendant at hand. Id. at 426. Similarly, the court
faulted the government s reliance on the personal experiences of the witness because
the information provided regarding his patients was not specific enough to the
defendant s situation. In particular, the testimony did not indicate that the previously
treated patients had delusions that were meaningfully similar in nature and
persistence to those of the defendants. The medical record of the defendant was also
inadequate because although it reported that he had previously been given the, it only
indicated that he had been treated and released. Id. at

trends are three categories of behaviors and attitudes toward oneself and others that

character strategies that individuals create to cope with the anxiety hostility conflict

The movements are toward, against, and away from other people. Karen Horney
She fits in all three movements. Fantasia Barrino fits in with the movement against

How Did Religion Affect Ancient Egyptian Society
Religion was the main structure of how the Ancient Egyptians form their way of life.
Tradition was strongly influenced by their religious beliefs which caused them to
resist change. Ancient Egyptian religion was a complex system of polytheistic beliefs
and rituals which were an integral part of ancient Egyptian society. In ancient Egypt
they believed in not one but many gods. Gods were worshipped and certain gods
represented certain parts of ancient Egypt. Their religionhosted about several
different gods and goddesses. Religion affected their society and determined social
class. Their beliefs left Pharaohs and priests in Ancient Egypt at the highest of social

One of the major factors of their religious belief was fertility and procreation.
Besides the kind, in marriage Egyptians were expected to be monogamous in their
relationships. Marriage in ancient Egypt was an arrangement of property. Once
married, the women would become pregnant because the tradition, due to religion,
was to have a large family. According to Douglas J. Brewer, Like so many other
aspects of Egyptian culture, senet had a religious significance, and the game was
likened to passing through the underworld (Brewer). It was said to be believed that
the successful player was under the protection of the major gods of the national
pantheon. The Senet boards were usually placed along graves for the journey
through afterlife. In ancient Egypt, the young men were not usually allowed to
pick their own choice of career(s). The system was of inheritance, meaning the son
would become what his father is/was. However, for a young men to become a

and at the bottom of the social pyramid would be the farmers and servants. Pharaohs

Christmas. Scrooge is a wealthy man infatuated with the idea of money, which makes
him a very stingy, greedy, selfish, and egotistic human being. Working as a banker,
Scrooge has an employee named Bob Cratchit, who works long hours, for very little

giving it to him, Scrooge goes on a rant about how Christmas is not a real holiday
and it is just an excuse for people to try to get extra money. Through his entire
speech, he keeps saying Bah Humbug . In the end of the speech, he asks Cratchit
tauntingly, I suppose you want Christmas off as well ?, but eventually, he gives
Cratchit the day off. In addition to this, Scrooge has a housekeeper named Mrs.
Dilber. Dibler has worked for Scrooge for a long time, and not once has he raised
her pay or given her a bonus. Just like Cratchit, Dilber hints for a Christmas bonus
by holding out her hand in front of Scrooge. However, instead of taking the hint,
Scrooge cannot see past his own selfish ways and hands her his dirty clothes stating,
Have them clean for tomorrow . With that, Dilber storms out his house infuriated. By

Introduction to Oboe and Bassoon
An Introduction Oboe and Bassoon By Marie A Rogers 300005290 Woodwind
Techniques 1 1010 1100 Mr. Robinson The oboe is a soprano range double reed
instrument with a length of 62cm. Its wooden tube is distinguished by a conical
bore that expands into a flaring bell. The modern oboe s range extends from the B
flat below middle C (b3 flat) to about 3 octaves higher (A6). The oboe has a very
narrow conical bore. It is played with a double reed consisting of two thin blades of
cane tied together on a small metal tube called a staple, which is inserted into the
reed socket at the top of the instrument. Traditionally made from African Blackwood,
also called grenadilla, the instrument is made in 3 parts. The top joint has 10 or 11...

The modern Bassoon exists in two distinct primary forms the Buffett system and
the Heckle system. Most of the world plays the Heckle system, while the Buffett
system is primarily in France, Belgium, and parts of Latin America. Bassoon
techniques The Bassoon is held diagonally in front of the player, but unlike the
flute, oboe, and clarinet, it cannot be supported by the players hands alone. Some
means of additional support is required; the most common ones used are a neck
strap or shoulder harness attached to the top of the boot joint, a seat strap attached
to the base of the boot joint which is laid across the chair seat prior to sitting down.
To stabilize the right hand, many Bassoonists use an adjustable common shaped
apparatus called a crutch , which mounts to the boot joint. An aspect of Bassoon
playing technique called flicking involves the momentary pressing or flicking of
the high A, C, and D keys by the left hand thumb at the beginning of certain note in

tend to buy their reeds from professional reed makers or use reeds made by their
teachers. Reeds begin with a length of tube cane that is split into three or four pieces.
The cane is then trimmed and gouged to the desired thickness,
Compare And Contrast Enders Game
What could be better than a six year old boy killing two people, going to battle
school, becoming a commander and killing an entire species? And he did all that
by the time he was 13 years old. There s a little bit of a difference between the book
Enders game and the movie Ender Game. In the book Ender Wiggins was 6 years
old and by the end he was 13 but in the movie he stayed 16 the whole time. First off
let s start with the fact that Ender met Bean way too early in the movie, like in the
very beginning. In the book Ender met Bean towards the End when Dragon Army
had just surfaced again, in the movie, Ender and Bean met in the very beginning
when they were on the launch. Ender also wasn t as rude to Bean in the movie as he
was in the book.
Comparing The Empires Of The Mongolian Empire And
The...
For many years, the Roman Empire was considered the most dominant empire
ever, but they were easily passed by the Mongolian Empire hundreds of years later.
The Mongols were a vast Empire spread all across Asia and become dominant
under the ruling of Genghis Khan, and the Romans were a vast Empire spread
across Europe. The Mongols first started in 1279 and a huge line of successors was
born, each leading their empire to greatness. They were able to build a huge
empire and dictatorship and conquer most of Asia with their superior armies. The
Romans first started in 27 BC under the rule of Augustus and created a line of
successors along with a Republic. They were also able to conquer parts of Africa
and most of Europe, until they could not handle the power and were defeated in 476
C.E. The Mongols were a more dominant empire than the Romans because they had a
more stable government and a more dominant army.
The Mongolian Empire was able to create a stable government that worked well for
them and also used that government to achieve a lot. Genghis Khan granted religious
freedom, abolished torture, encouraged trade and created the first international postal
system (GENGHIS KHAN). The Mongolian dictatorship was able to do such
amazing things with their government. They were able to develop lots of culture
within their empire and create advanced technology. They granted people the
freedom to have whatever religion to be believed in. They gave people a lot more
freedom then they
Taking a Look at Television Broadcasting
In many cases, it is safe to say that television broadcasting has polished the narrow
mindedness of an imperative individual to either antagonize a supreme man
running for presidency or be his very back bone in the process of voting. As airing
prominent speeches made by powerful political figures can get one simple idea of
justice to more than half the nation as it stands, it can create a strained society in
which one will seem to manipulate the others aspect of just, and in return will call for
protests. In the favor of qualifying that television broadcast has been both deleterious
and accommodating to vote percentages, sources A, B, and F help to embellish the
main points fabricated in this essay. As of now, in twenty first century, broadcasting
has been very popular and it only seems to give birth to new forms of idea that can
be compressed into what the media has to portray. Media, even in a history not so
far away from our past have engendered the idea of setting powerful people to
defend why they should be elected as president. Broadcasting, even in our not so
long ago history has took the initiative to display one man sitting in office to half
the nation The advent of television in the late 1940 s gave rise to the belief that a
new era was opening in public communication...its wide geographic distribution and
impact, provides a new, direct, and sensitive link between Washington and the people

the brand name of Contergan. It was subsequently licensed in 46 other countries,
covering all continents. It is an odourless white crystalline compound with low

will be able to: 1.Identify examples of descriptive research (surveys, case studies,
documentary analyses, developmental studies, correlational studies) 2.Identify the
steps and key principles involved in constructing a questionnaire (determining
objectives, delimiting the sample, constructing the questionnaire, conducting a pilot
study, writing cover letters, sending the questionnaire, following up, analyzing the

Do we want equal representation from freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and
seniors? Do we need to consider racial composition? How many students do we
need? Answers to some of these questions will depend on time and money.
Certainly however, you can see that we need to think carefully about the sample we
use in the study. 3. Constructing the Questionnaire: When people first attempt to
build questionnaires they quickly discover that questions that appear clear to them
are often open to many different interpretations. (Professors face the same
challenge when constructing multiple choice exams.) It is a time consuming task
and once again you would need to consider how you plan to analyze the possible
responses. As you formulate your questions you must consider the most
appropriate format Open Ended Questions allow the responder a variety of
response options. The good part is that responders are free to say what they like.
The bad part is that they take more time to answer and are tougher to analyze. In
our example, we could ask In what ways could the Athletic Department make your
attendance at an athletic event more enjoyable? Closed Questions direct responders
to certain choices among provided options. We can ask responders to rank order
choices, select a score on a scale, or respond to provided categories. A closed version
of the question posed above might be, Should the Athletic Department sell
concessions at athletic events? (yes/no).
Kim As A Presentation Of The Issue
CHAPTER 3: KIM AS A PRESENTATION OF THE ISSUE
Kim is as unique in Kipling s life and career as it is in English literature. It was first
serialised in America, in McClure s Magazine, December, 1900 to October 1901;
in England, in Cassell s Magazine, January to November 1901. Kipling s works
aimed at a broad base for an audience, both McClure s and Cassell s were known as
late century publications which incorporated techniques of the new journalism like
muckraking, as well as sensationalism and pulp in the stories to attract larger
audiences. Both the magazines published the work digestibly as one chapter at a time.
Kim s first book edition by Doubleday, Page Co., New York, 1 October 1901, the
first English edition, by Macmillan and Co. Ltd., 17 October 1901. In 1998, Kim
was ranked on No.78 on his list of the 100 best English language novels of the 20th
century by the Modern Library.
Kim is considered as Kipling s masterpiece. The scenery behind the story of Kim is
The Great Game, the political conflict between Russia and Britain in Central Asia.
It is set probably in the period 1893 98, after the Second Afghan war, which ended
in 1881 but before the Third. The novel is interesting for its description of
representation of the people, culture, languages and different religions of India. The
book presents a vivid picture of India, its teeming population, religions and
superstitions, and the life of the bazaars and the roads .
Rudyard Kipling s book Kim was written in

Why Should Lance Armstrong Be Banned
Everyone has heard of Lance Armstrong, famous cyclist who won Tour de France 7
consecutive time in a row. Impressive, right? It would be if hadn t won those
competitions with the help of blood doping and drug use. Lance Armstrong was
stripped of his title and bronze Olympic medal for the illegal athletic gain and his
reputation went to absolute shambles. Steroid use in professional sports is not
allowed and results in consequences, varying by sport; but in the Olympics, as The

describes how he does not blame all of the athletes for risking everything they have

everyone should be allowed to use steroids while in competition because when the
stakes are so high, everyone will always look for any opportunity to be better than

everyone do the drugs at their own risk. In relation to put at their own risk, steroids
are surprisingly less dangerous than alcohol. This was seen by Lincoln Allison, In
general, the risk to health from performance enhancing drugs is considerably less
than that from tobacco or alcohol. In his document he mentioned how even though
steroids are allegedly extremely harmful, they are banded unlike more harmful things

History And History By James A. Baldwin
People are trapped in history and history is trapped in them. James A. Baldwin
The study of history not only provides information about the past, but gives people
knowledge and details that help shape lives, in the present and future. For the longest
time it has been said that history is bound to repeat itself if it is not understood.
Although the repetition of previous tragic historical events is an important reason to
study the past, there are many others. As American playwright James Baldwin said,
people are a part of history, but history is just as much part of them. This is one of
the more fundamental reasons why the exploration of the past is vital to human
beings. The study of history gives humans a sense of belonging, a feeling that ... Show

Without a knowledge of history how would someone know that the tradition of
having a Christmas tree is thought to come from Pagans in Germany. Or that
Christianity dates back to the 1st. century A.D. Many people do not believe that
learning these things is useful, that knowing where traditions and beliefs come from
is useless. Henry Ford famously said History is bunk . This could not be more
wrong. Humans want to know why they do things, and looking into the past gives us
these answers. Although is has been said time and time again that history will repeat
itself, many people still do not know the full effect it could have. It is very unlikely

Effects Of Slavery In Toni Morrison s Beloved
Two Legs, Not Four
Harriet Tubman declared, Now I ve been free, I know what a dreadful condition
slavery is. I have seen hundreds of escaped slaves, but I never saw one who was
willing to go back and be a slave (Harriet Tubman Quotes). In the novel Beloved, the
dehumanizing elements of slavery affect the characters in every aspect of their lives.
Toni Morrison paints the picture of slavery in a realistic frame. In her foreword she
explains she wanted to throw the readers into chaos to simulate the real effects of
racism and slavery (Morrison XIX). Throughout the story, readers get a brutal taste
of how slavery was. They juggle the possibility of a moral fuzziness within the grey
areas of slavery, and the consequences of cruelty on a ... Show more content on

Sethe trades one form of slavery for another, her love for Beloved enslaves her.
Beloved s love for her becomes obsessive, and keeps her from being free. Paul D on
the other hand, is afraid to open up enough to love. He is afraid he will lose
anything he gets too close to. Slavery has made Paul D afraid to love too much.
Paul D demonstrates his fear of love by not being able to stay in one place
(Morrison 125 133). When Paul D says Sethe s love is Too thick , Sethe explains to
him that he needs to open up saying, Love is or it ain t, thin love ain t no love at all
(Morrison 193 194). Here Sethe explains that in order to be free Paul D must love
freely. All of the characters need to learn to find a middle ground. They either
control or neglect; moreover, they are either controlled or neglected. Where
Denver, Sethe, and Beloved s dialogues intertwine is perhaps the most haunting
example. The text reads: I loved you, You hurt me, You came back to me, You left
me, I waited for you, You are mine, You are mine, You are mine (Morrison 256).
This quote demonstrates how the characters think love means owning a person. The
phrase you are mine and you left me show the different sides of the spectrum when
it comes to love. All in all, love should never be possession or abandonment. Love is
not about owning anyone, and loving yourself does not mean you have to space
yourself from others. The characters must learn

While the idea of charter schools has been apparent since the early 1990 s, many
states including Arizona are thriving on the establishment of alternate learning
opportunities for its pupils. When choosing a schooling environment appropriate for
your child it may serve as an aid to consider how Arizona has become the nation s

Gift Exchange Day Momou Analysis

acknowledging they no longer have a home in Saigon. I open Mother s white
handkerchief Inside lies my mouse bitten doll, her arms wrapped around the limp
fuzzy body of his chick. I tie it all into a bundle... I regret not having my doll as
soon as it sinks into the sea. (86) In this quote, the bundle is symbolic of the familys
attachment to Saigon. After the lowering of Saigon s flag, the family, recognising
they no longer have a home in Saigon, throw the bundle into the ocean. Later on, in
the poem Gift Exchange Day Pam gives HГ a doll. This on its own wouldn t stand

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Introduction
In doing the research, the methodology must be appropriate so that the analysis
findings could reach the objective. Research methodology proposed one procedure
in order way to be follow to answer all the questions in the research that want to be
made. Quoted by Denzin and Lincoln (1994), methodology is a process that related
with research objective and data. In the others word, it is early research planning
that include the research scope, data collection method, data collection process and
data analysis method. For Ranjit (2005), methodology is one of crucial part in
research, in order to ensure the research can be done in the systematic way Overall,
this chapter will discuss on the research frame and the methodologies used in order
to meet the research objectives. Research process been divided into three main parts
there are preliminary research part, data collection and last one data analysis.
Research Methodologies
Research methodology is a way how the research is conducted step by step and in
order. There are two methods used for data collection which is the primary data
and secondary data. These data can be obtained and used many ways. The data is
taken and analyzed in advance to produce a result that we can use for research and
future reference. This study will relate to the objective we want to achieve and
finding the answer to every objective we seek. In order to successfully achieve the
objectives we seek, we must know
God Versus The Idea Of God
Do you believe in God? How?
Nobody likes to be proven wrong and theologians are certainly no exception.
What is your idea when you hear the word God or gods? Is God real? Is God not real
or merely a product of human weaknesses? In a January 1954 letter to the
philosopher Eric Gutkind, Albert Einstein (who called himself a deeply religious
nonbeliever ) described the idea of God as a product of human weakness.
Will you agree with this idea or not? Why? God Vs. The Idea of God elaborates the
concept of is God real or not? The church original focus was on less worldly concerns
and claims to speak for all aspects of life in preparation for the kingdom of God. Why
does the church is losing its followers? Are all the theologians right in their own
opinion of God or gods? Why? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysing of Two Textbooks Essay
A further useful point is made by Razmjoo and Kazempourfard (2012, pp 180 181),
is the usefulness of a coding scheme for each area, which they utilised for
conducting an evaluation of two books within their study. Thus, as each area within
the books was considered, a code was assigned which identified the parameter within
which the particular aspect of teaching could be positions. Thus, exercises or
materials that focus on remembering within the four knowledge areas are
respectively assigned A1, A2, A3 and A4. The exercises that focus on understanding
within the four knowledge areas would be assigned B1, B2, B3 and B4 etc.

extremely important in the teaching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether a teacher is on one side of this argument or not, the likelihood is that a text
book will be necessary and therefore the evaluation of any that may be used will be
important. This importance swells considerably if the teacher believes that text books
should be central to any course. For this reason, Soleimani and Ghaderi (2013, p. 44)
contend that a textbook evaluation is a key task that should be undertaken by
teachers but the question that is posed is what the best approach to evaluation is?
They note the two stage model proposed by McDonough (2003), as has been
discussed within this paper as well as the notion of coding in order that the
evaluation is appropriately systematic. Indeed, Soleimani and Ghaderi (2013) add to
this the notion of a checklist so that aspects within all areas of the book are
adequately evaluated.
Keshta and Seif (2013) discuss the existing literature with regard to course material
evaluation and decide that a qualitative approach is the most likely to elicit the
most accurate results. In order to achieve their goals, they first develop an analysis
card which sets a criteria, or subjective opinion, of the material being considered and
ask 16 teachers to give their opinion on this material as compared to the yardstick
produced. In order to provide some validity to their yardstick, the content analysis
Effects Of Conspiracy On Pearl Harbor
Conspiracy says FDR allowed Pearl Harbor to get attacked. Did he really let Pearl
Harbor get attacked, or did he not know at all? I do not think he really did. When
he found out about the attack, he was really calm. He acted like he did not care.
People believe FDR knew of the attack because the Americans had cracked the
Japanese codes, warned of the attacks, and a general location they were going to
attack.
A series of Japanese codes broken by the U.S. Crytologist in 1920 revealed the
country preparation for war, after decoding another of message that orders a ship to
be position in Pearl Harbor (Glick). Before the raid Britain had broken Japanese
codes and had key clues (Glick). They broke Japan s diplomatic code; American
officials knew about the Japan s Embassy order to destroy its codes machines
(Pearl Harbor). On October 9, 1941 the War Department decoded a Tokyo to
Honolulu dispatch instructing the consul General to divide Pearl Harbor into five
areas and to tell the exact location of American ship in that area (Perloff). The
Dutch army decoded a dispatch forecasting attacks on four areas including Hawaii
(Perloff). There were a lot of different Japanese codes that were cracked, warning of
the Japanese going to attack on Pearl Harbor.
The code word go was not relayed to Hawaii (Glick). U.S. military officials picked up
coded radio broadcast that was worldwide in Japan three days before attack (Glick).

Descriptive Essay About Jawbreaker Island
Jawbreaker Island is an island far, far away on a planet called Gummy Mars. This
planet is a periwinkle colored crystal in the sky, 3D shaped obviously. Jawbreaker
Island is on the top of the crystal. You would think that the island is at a slant, but
once you get into the planet, it is a flat field of candyand color. My enormous space
ship was trying to fly back to Earth but it was hacked by the gummy rulers. I can
vividly remember how I enter Gummy Mars. We got to the fortress that made the
crystal invisible to any human eye. The Gummies take their security very serious.
The fortress laid around the planet like a blanket. Having no control of my ship, the
fortresses force slowly gravitated my ship through the darkness of space and around
all gray cracking astroys flowing through time. The fortress was unlocked from the
inside and left a gaping entrance to the periwinkle crystal in the sky.
The atmosphere around the crystal was nothing like the black dullness of the
space that was left behind. Outermost layer of the crystal was like jello, the ship
had to rupture this layer to be in the main world of Gummy Mars. Of course, the
break in the fortress was sealed back up by itself. The first thing I saw was the
blueberry cotton candy clouds, sleekly gliding over Jawbreaker Island. The water
surrounding the mammoth sized marshmallows, chocolates, and jawbreakers that
formed the island, was a concoction of blue raspberry and green lime kool aid. My
ship landed on an unwrapped
The Married Life
Marriage is crucial to all adults. Couples need to value their marriage so that they
can remain happy and enjoy life while they are married. For a family to be well
established, the couples need to place more value in their marriages. The reason why
most families break up is that most of the couples do not value or prioritize their
familyissues. Most of the couples take their personal interests as their first priority,
which make them to neglect their families and this becomes the source of conflict.
A good example is seen in families where the husband loves football more than his
family thus, he spends a lot of time watching football. Such a husband will most
likely neglect his family because family just in order to enjoy watching football. If
there are problems in such a family, the wife will not solve them alone, as she
requires the husband s effort. For a family to live well, both husband and wife need
to commit themselves to each other first in their relationship. This is very important
in every marriagebecause good relationship between the husband and wife helps to
ensure unity and success of the family.
There is need to establish a good relationship between couples because this helps
them in solving their marriage and family problems harmoniously. Statistics show
that a family with good relationship among the partners will solve their problems
harmoniously (Guest, 32). The reason for a couple to get married is to give each
other mutual relationship where each of
Chin A Global Superpower Essay
China has become a global superpower. Its rise to the top of the trading chain has
become a key factor into what it s become today. With its accelerated population
over the last years, it s economic value has flourished its economy to a wide extent.
There is also a saying, that with every good thing, there is always something bad.
That s when China s environmental factors come to play. In the last twenty years, the
quality of life in china has been decaying. The air surrounding most of the major
cities in china are filled with horrible, toxic chemicals that has brought worldwide
attention to this issue. Not only that, but contaminated and scarce water in China also
play large roles in the impact of the environment. I believe that the increase in
population, coalprocessing, and manufacturing of goods, have brought about
environmental damages, but has also created economic stability. In the Shanxi
Province sits Linfen, one of the most polluted cities not only china but the world.
Since 1978, Linfen has been China s number one resource in coal producing energy.
China needed large amounts of sufficient energy for its big manufacturers and for its
rapid increase in population. In the past, linfen was a pleasant farming community
and also mentioned as the fruit and flower town . Its name comes from the Fen
River in which its sits on. It was widely recognized as the city with running natural
water springs. In the 1930 s, the town had less than a few thousand people

being part of the group, it is going to the second stage storming, and it is
characterize by intragroup conflict . (Robbins, 2014) When the intragroup conflict
is settling down and a relatively clear hierarchy of leadership in the group, it is
going to the third stage norming. It is characterized by close relationships and
cohesiveness. (Robbins, 2014) Members are building close relationship with each
other and the group become cohesiveness. When a group structure solidifies and has
assimilated a common set of expectations of what defines correct member behavior,
(Robbins, 2014) it is time to move to the fourth stage performing. At this point, each
member has known and accepted each other and they can work together to complete
that task. The final stage is adjourning and it is wrapping up activities when the
group task is achieved. From my point of view, Woodson Foundation, Public School

Also Netflix needs to prepare a better plan to recover old customers, gain new
customers and make sure that the people who still have Netflix keep it. Establishing
a bundle price for both online streaming and DVD rental will allow The Netflix
Company to recover some market shares and remain the leading overall digital film
company. The recommendations are as follows:
1. Advertise the new bundle price of the online streaming and DVD rental. The
advertisement department should develop new commercials about the changes that
Netflix is about to offer for customers. The publicity of the new prices should ensure
the growth on the profit for the company.
2. Emphasize that old customers will get the 1 month trial for free. This will
definitely show all our customers that we want them to come back to Netflix as
loyal customers and also if they come back they will be rewarded.
3. Stop charging for extra Blu ray rentals. Blockbuster has a DVD plans that does not
charge extra for Blu ray. If Netflix offers the same service for a reasonable price more
people will start using Netflix.
Introduction/ Background
Netflix previously had a plan in which it included both online streaming, as well as
unlimited DVDs by mail, 4 out at a time, for $9.99 a month (Gregory, 2011).
However, in July of 2011, CEO, Reed Hastings, announced that they were going to
separate the online and DVDs plan and charge

James was alone in the young Centre waiting for his friends and the van that brings
him home. James knew that Donny is the culprit of the clash, but he had to find
evidence. Suddenly Lynn appeared in the Centre. James hided himself in the
shadow. Lynn went into a room where Donny was. James heard them talking about
the accident. Lynn leaved the room after she had talked to Donny. James was alone
with Donny. When Donny came out of the room, James pretended that he didn t
hear anything, but Donny didn t trust him and knew that James had heard the
conversation. He treated James to hit him with a baseball bat. James tried to
convince Donny not to hit him. And promised Donny that he wouldn t say anything
to the police. But Donny did not calm but even got more aggressive. But James
didn t give up. In self defense he grabbed a few billiard balls he saw and he threw
them to Donny. At that moment Kirsty s dad came in the Centre to help James and
called the police. Donny was arrested and everything ends
The Stereotypical Black Woman Essay
Images in media, television especially, are a direct projection of the people who
control and project them, which often tends to be white people. We face the
problems of images projected by people not of us, she said. The media is the most
powerful mind manipulating tool on the earth. (Ruby, 18) The perception of black
women in the media today can be damaging to the self image of the young black
women of today. During the Black Arts Movement, many artists and poets spoke of
how white influence in our lives has created skewed beauty ideals in the African
American community. This white influence tends to harm black women s images of
themselves. Most female images seen in mainstream media are white, thin, tall and
just plain gorgeous,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through history, culture, and media, Black women have most often been
portrayed in some combination of three images: (1) as highly maternal, family
oriented, and self sacrificing Mammies; (2) as threatening and argumentative
Sapphires; and (3) as seductive, sexually irresponsible, promiscuous Jezebels.
(West, 1) The stereotypical black woman is also often loud, angry, and over the
top, which has been used to add humor to today s television programming and a lot
of today s media. Even though today, images of black women are more common
than in the past the same stereotypes remain. The mammy can often be seen as
asexual, larger dark skinned black women who takes on a no nonsense maternal
role. Mammy, one of the most pervasive images of Black women, originated in the
South during slavery...Physically, she was depicted as a bandanna clad, obese, dark
complexioned woman with African features. Her primary role was domestic service,
characterized by long hours of work with little or no financial compensation.
Subordination, nurturance, and constant self sacrifice were expected as she
performed her domestic duties (Jewell, 1993). (West, 1) The mammy usually has a
role in which she is serving such as the character Minnie Jackson in the controversial
Oscar nominated film The Help. Mammy stemming from the word mother is a
stereotype that reaches all the way back to
Superman
The History of a Legend: Superman
Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall
buildings in a single bound! It s a bird! It s a plane! It s Superman! (Bridwell 11)
These celebrated words have echoed for over six decades in American cultural and
social society. Created by Jerry Siegel and Joseph Shuster, Supermanwas intended to
fight greed, crime, injustice and abuse. The impact created by Superman, or better
known to the average man as Clark Kent, extends far beyond the comic book itself.
Although many have grown to love him for the courage he represents, the
personification Superman employs deviates from what is truly natural or innately
human by challenging undisturbed and irrefutable ... Show more content on

Wright, the introduction of Superman into American cultural was brought about by
the need of young Americans to feel a connection with the common man . But
instead, the connotation created by Superman strays far away from the notion of an
ordinary man. By allocating the name Superman, he is connected to something that is
god like and un human. Dennis Dooley and Gary Eagle present the argument that
Superman achieves truly mythic stature, interweaving a pattern of beliefs, literary
conventions and cultural traditions of the American people more powerfully and
more accessibly than any other cultural symbol of the 20th century. But this mythic
stature created a culture that allowed its followers to question nature and its power
and allowed for the establishment of beliefs that were detrimental to the natural order
of the world. Even Steve Skelton, the author of The Gospel According to the World s
Greatest Superhero presents the fact there is a parallel between Superman and God.
Have Siegel and Shuster gone too far? The cultural and social superhero of Superman
was one that was intended to attract those who felt disconnected from the American
world in which they lived. But, as time would tell, this action figure would translate
into an omnipotent entity. Although most Americans look up to the Clark Kent
disguised as his super self, there are several blurry implications that remain at the
surface of these comic books. By assuming the name Superman,
Gold Rush And The Silver Rush
Gold rush Today I will be talking about the gold rush and I think it will be a lot of
fun so I will just let you read about the gold rush It started when some men were
working and they were digging.then they found gold it pretty much spread
immediately. People came from everywhere to find gold. Then they started to
make towns and people wanted the gold. They started to fight and it became kaos.
After people moved in to the gold land people were charging 19 million to live
there. But people did not like the cost to live there. So they went somewhere
eventually they found gold. About 1 year later it was a ghost town(a ghost is a
town is a town that had a lot of people but now they all leave). In Helena people
found gold in 1864. People went nuts and wanted that gold. So they went to Helena
and got all that gold and went a way. A few years later they found gold in
grasshopper creek. In conclusion I think the gold rush is very important.Next week I
will be talking about the battle of the little bighorn. So please try to read it. Goodbye!
The Oregon trail
I will talk to you today about the Oregon trail it will be a blast! It will be about how
long it was and some weird things will happen
History And Background Of John Deere
History and Background of John Deere John Deere (also known as Deere and
Company) began when founder John Deere, a blacksmith and a repair man, began
to grow tired with the traditional way of making plows. Plows in the nineteenth
century were made to order and usually made from wood or iron. In 1837, John
Deere created a plow using a steel saw blade. The smooth sided plow was much
easier and faster to clean than traditional plows (Wikipedia). John Deere decided that
he would manufacture the plows and then put them up for sale. This allowed
customers to actually see what they were buying beforehand. His business started to
gain popularity. In 1912, the company began to expand into the tractor business. In
1918 Deere and Company purchased
Psychological Manipulation In 1984 And V For Vendetta
The Effects of Psychological Manipulation in 1984 and V for Vendetta
It is believed that complete government authority is only possible through coercion
and deceit. In both George Orwell s book, 1984, and James McTeigue s film, V for
Vendetta, abusive and deceptive tactics are used by oppressive governments in order
to change the behaviours and perceptions of their citizens. This is done to ensure
that there are no acts of rebellion that challenge their sovereignty. Despite the
similarity between these two dystopian societies, however, psychological
manipulation is more effective in 1984 than in V for Vendetta because of the
absence of laws, staged acts of terrorism, and lack of religious belief.
In Orwell s novel, the absence of laws creates paranoia among citizens of Oceania,
whereas the laws set forth by Norsefire, the governing body in V for Vendetta, allow
citizens to have more freedom in their thoughts and actions. Thus, it is evident that
INGSOC, the government in 1984, has more success in refraining citizens from
rebelling. In Oceania, nothing [is] illegal, since there [are] no longer any laws
(Orwell 8). This means INGSOC has unlimited power to do as they feel against any
offence they deem punishable. Because of the fact that there are no written laws,
citizens are unable to defend their innocence. This results in an immense fear among
civilians to do anything out of routine or have rebellious thoughts. Even a nervous tic,
an unconscious look of anxiety, [or] a
The World s Tallest Skyscraper And Man Made Islands
Intro
Dubai is the largest city in the United Arab Emirates and quite possibly the most
famous of all Arabian metropolises. This fame has arisen from the city s great oil
wealth; from the massive construction projects that have resulted including the world
s tallest skyscraper and man made islands; from the reputation for excess among
Dubai s young and wealthy; and from the large numbers of expats attracted to Dubai
by the prospect of sharing in the city s prosperity.
But there s more to Dubai than simply oil revenue. The westernisation of the emirate
s economy has created much diversification. Today s new arrivals are as likely to
find themselves employed in tourism, financial services or real estate as in energy or
construction. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Expats from other Arab countries tend to get most bilingual jobs, but learning
Arabic will definitely be an asset. Recruiters are the way to go for most jobs, but
applying on company websites is also worth a shot.
The oil and gas industry is well paid. Major employers in this sector are ENOC and
Schlumberger.
Aviation and aerospace is another large industry requiring skilled workers.
Emirates, the official airline of Dubai, is a major employer for expat pilots and
flights staff, as well as supporting industries. Dubai is currently developing the
infrastructure to go to Mars, so this area is really booming. This industry is
particularly welcoming to bilingual or trilingual workers due to the wide variety of
people coming through the region.
Due to the large number of families living in Dubai, education is a booming sector.
There are over 100 private schools in Dubai, with more opening every year to meet
demand. Teachers and administrators make much more than in their home countries,
and benefits often include free education for children. Some prominent private
schools include GEMS schools (both British and American curriculum), Dubai British
School, and the American School of Dubai.
Living Costs
Living costs in Dubai are similar to other large cities worldwide, though with the
accommodation generally provided, expats in the city find themselves with quite a
Alcohol Abuse And Alcohol Use Disorder Essay
Alcohol Use Disorder, most commonly known as Alcohol Abuse or Alcohol
Dependence, is widely known as problem that occurs with individuals who consumes
an enormous amount of alcohol on a regular basis often in a single use. The
individual is consumed with the thought of drinking most of the time and often feel
as though they need it to continue with living their daily lives, even though, they are
not really living at all because the enormous amount of alcoholcauses a dysfunction
for their daily tasks. It inhibits their ability to take care of their family, have social
relationships and performing activities at work. It is believed that genetics can play
a massive role towards an individual developing an Alcohol Use Disorder.
According to the DMS 5, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
issued by the American Psychiatric Association, the Alcohol Use Disorder is
defined as a problematic pattern of alcohol use leading to clinically significant
impairment of distress, as manifested by at least two symptoms of the eleven in
their diagnostic criteria occurring within a 12 month period. These symptoms
demonstrates activities such as, alcohol being often taken in larger amounts over a
long period of time, a persistent desire to cut down or control alcohol use, cravings
to use alcohol, a great deal of time spent in activities necessary to obtain alcohol, use
alcohol or recover from its effect, recurrent alcohol use in situations in which it is

Determinism Essay

  • 1. Determinism Essay Crafting an essay on the concept of determinism poses a unique set of challenges. First and foremost, the very nature of determinism itself can be complex and multifaceted. Exploring the philosophical, scientific, and ethical dimensions of determinism requires a comprehensive understanding of various disciplines. One significant difficulty lies in navigating the intricate web of arguments and counterarguments that surround determinism. Different philosophical schools of thought, such as existentialism, compatibilism, and hard determinism, present contrasting viewpoints that demand careful consideration. Juggling these perspectives while maintaining coherence in the essay can be a daunting task. Furthermore, delving into the scientific aspects of determinism involves grappling with concepts from physics, biology, and psychology. Explaining the interplay between causality and determinism in these diverse fields requires a balance between depth and accessibility, making the content understandable to a broad audience. Another challenge is to avoid reductionism and oversimplification. Determinism, with its nuanced implications for free will and moral responsibility, invites exploration of the human experience in intricate detail. It's essential to resist the temptation to oversimplify this intricate subject matter, as doing so may undermine the depth of the analysis. In addition, weaving a compelling narrative that engages the reader and sustains interest throughout the essay is crucial. The inherent abstractness of determinism can potentially distance the reader if not presented in a relatable and engaging manner. Despite these challenges, the process of writing an essay on determinism can be intellectually rewarding. The opportunity to explore profound questions about the nature of reality, human agency, and the limits of predictability can lead to a richer understanding of our existence. In conclusion, tackling a determinism essay requires navigating intricate philosophical debates, comprehending scientific theories, and maintaining a delicate balance between complexity and accessibility. Successfully addressing these challenges can result in a thought-provoking and intellectually stimulating piece of writing. • 2. Political Status of the Disputed Territories Political status of the disputed territories The political status between the nations of Israel and Palestine is a continuing crisis that began upon Israel s formation shortly after the conclusion of World War II. Many small scale wars and battles have been fought over the years killing many and intensifying the region. The political situation sees many Western forces providing economic and military support for Israel. The conflict lies in two general areas: religious idolatry and the formation of an officially recognized Palestinian state. The political status of Cyprus is fragmented and uncertain. Cyprus has been in disarray since 1974 when Turkey inserted military forces geographically and politically dividing the island nation. Since this time political tension between the Greek and Turkish Cypriots has been constant. United Nations involvement has inserted some relief but a new hydrocarbon discovery off the coast of Cyprus has reignited tensions about who has the rights to the potential economic windfall. After the Soviet breakup in the late 1980 s many new political situations arose. Such is the case in Nagorno Karabakh as Armenian political forces stand in opposition to Azerbaijan. Armenian secessionists using the Soviet absence as an impetus, began a conflict to escape Azerbaijan rule. Religion plays a role in this conflict as the Christian Armenians, under perceived persecution have fought for independence. The political status of the warring nations have

In this poem, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow talks about how the ocean is consistent and is never changing, while men are always evolving. The poem proves that natureis superior to man. In this article the author describes how Mother Nature will out live the humanrace. Mother Nature has been around for an unimaginably long amount of time prior to the existence of human beings. It is reasonable to expect that human beings will not exist forever especially the way we re going now and that therefore Mother Nature will long outlast us (Does Mother Nature Rule The World). In the book The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls Longfellod talks about how the sea is everlasting while the footprints are erasable, along the sea sand damp and brown the traveler hastens toward the town ( Longfellow). Longfellow uses very good imagery to give the reader a better feel for what is going on. • 5. The Veldt By Ray Bradbury The Veldt by Ray Bradbury focuses on the unintended consequences of parents letting their two children have unregulated use of technology. Bradbury conveys tone through imagery, diction, similes, and sentence structure. In this story, Bradbury repeats a set of sentences. He writes a long, smooth, flowing sentence followed by a series of short, choppy sentences. The long sentence draws the reader into an African scene, while the short sentences, such as the lions came running at them , abruptly ends the fantasy and makes the danger of the situation feel quite real (Bradbury). This creates a tone shift from calm with a sense of amazement to anxious and fearful. Diction also plays a large role in creating a more dramatic tone shift. Bradbury

Ratios The 8 ratios that are best used to evaluate indigo are current ratio, debt ratio, rate of return on owner s equity, price earnings, inventory turnover, interest coverage ratio, dividend payout ratio, and accounts receivables collection period. Current Ratio Current ratio indicates a company s ability to pay off short term liabilities. Starting at 2012, the current ratio of Indigo was 1.98, very close to the desired ratio of 2. However since 2015, the current ratio has declined by 0.09 to 1.89. This shows the company is not in as stable of a financial standpoint as 2012, due to a lower ability to pay off short term liabilities. However, when compared to the industrial and sector averages, 1.78 and 1.77 respectively, Indigo actually comes out as above average. This suggests that despite, a lowered ability to return short term liabilities, Indigo is still very capable at returning short term liabilities as a result of the nature of the industry and
  • 7. The Return Of Depression Economics 2008 Economics Noble Prize winner and Princeton University professor, Paul Krugman, translates the roots of modern and prior financial crisis economics. In his book, The Return of Depression Economics and The Crisis of 2008, Krugman first educates the reader of historical and foreign financial crises which allows for a deeper understanding of the modern financial system. The context provided from the historical analysis proves to be a crucial prospective in such a way that the rest of Krugman s narrative about modern finance continually relates back to the historical analysis. From there, Krugman analyzes and updates his prior studies done on the Asian financial crisis. He then applies his knowledge from historical events to the modern day financial struggles and argues his opinion about how and why our financial world operates the way it does. Krugman explains his perspective that the world believed that depression economicswas no longer a problem, however the Asian crisis, Japan s liquidity trap and the Latin American crisis having acted as warning signals to modern market struggles. Thus he says that this subject needs further examination and more resources should be poured into it. For Krugman, Depression Economics is still a relevant problem and should be further studied. On top of simply translating past and present financial systems, Krugman dissects the interconnection between economics and politics. Starting with the rise of socialism, many governments took on

However, they seem to stand for more than just another character in a story. Each of their different actions appear to represent a separate part of Pi s psyche. In order to fully understand Pi, it is necessary to understand the animals and their connection to him. The zebra is the first to die at the paws of the hyena, and stands for Pi s initial fear of the open ocean and the animals on board. The orangutan, Orange Juice, is said to have been kind, innocent, and maternal,

At a young age, Louis was forced to take on responsibility. As a shy child, this was not the best decision for his guardians to make. • 21. Introduction to Oboe and Bassoon An Introduction Oboe and Bassoon By Marie A Rogers 300005290 Woodwind Techniques 1 1010 1100 Mr. Robinson The oboe is a soprano range double reed instrument with a length of 62cm. Its wooden tube is distinguished by a conical bore that expands into a flaring bell. The modern oboe s range extends from the B flat below middle C (b3 flat) to about 3 octaves higher (A6). The oboe has a very narrow conical bore. It is played with a double reed consisting of two thin blades of cane tied together on a small metal tube called a staple, which is inserted into the reed socket at the top of the instrument. Traditionally made from African Blackwood, also called grenadilla, the instrument is made in 3 parts. The top joint has 10 or 11... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The modern Bassoon exists in two distinct primary forms the Buffett system and the Heckle system. Most of the world plays the Heckle system, while the Buffett system is primarily in France, Belgium, and parts of Latin America. Bassoon techniques The Bassoon is held diagonally in front of the player, but unlike the flute, oboe, and clarinet, it cannot be supported by the players hands alone. Some means of additional support is required; the most common ones used are a neck strap or shoulder harness attached to the top of the boot joint, a seat strap attached to the base of the boot joint which is laid across the chair seat prior to sitting down. To stabilize the right hand, many Bassoonists use an adjustable common shaped apparatus called a crutch , which mounts to the boot joint. An aspect of Bassoon playing technique called flicking involves the momentary pressing or flicking of the high A, C, and D keys by the left hand thumb at the beginning of certain note in the middle octave in order to eliminate the cracking or brief microphonic that happens without the use of the key. Bassoon Reeds Bassoon reeds, made of Arundo donax cane, are often made by the players themselves, although beginner bassoonists tend to buy their reeds from professional reed makers or use reeds made by their teachers. Reeds begin with a length of tube cane that is split into three or four pieces. The cane is then trimmed and gouged to the desired thickness,

In the book Ender Wiggins was 6 years old and by the end he was 13 but in the movie he stayed 16 the whole time. First off let s start with the fact that Ender met Bean way too early in the movie, like in the very beginning. In the book Ender met Bean towards the End when Dragon Army had just surfaced again, in the movie, Ender and Bean met in the very beginning when they were on the launch. For many years, the Roman Empire was considered the most dominant empire ever, but they were easily passed by the Mongolian Empire hundreds of years later. The Mongols were a vast Empire spread all across Asia and become dominant under the ruling of Genghis Khan, and the Romans were a vast Empire spread across Europe. The Mongols first started in 1279 and a huge line of successors was born, each leading their empire to greatness. They were able to build a huge empire and dictatorship and conquer most of Asia with their superior armies. The Romans first started in 27 BC under the rule of Augustus and created a line of successors along with a Republic. They were also able to conquer parts of Africa and most of Europe, until they could not handle the power and were defeated in 476 C.E. The Mongols were a more dominant empire than the Romans because they had a more stable government and a more dominant army. The Mongolian Empire was able to create a stable government that worked well for them and also used that government to achieve a lot. Genghis Khan granted religious freedom, abolished torture, encouraged trade and created the first international postal system (GENGHIS KHAN). As you formulate your questions you must consider the most appropriate format Open Ended Questions allow the responder a variety of response options. The good part is that responders are free to say what they like. The bad part is that they take more time to answer and are tougher to analyze. Although the repetition of previous tragic historical events is an important reason to study the past, there are many others. In the novel Beloved, the dehumanizing elements of slavery affect the characters in every aspect of their lives. Toni Morrison paints the picture of slavery in a realistic frame. In her foreword she explains she wanted to throw the readers into chaos to simulate the real effects of racism and slavery (Morrison XIX). Paul D demonstrates his fear of love by not being able to stay in one place (Morrison 125 133). When Paul D says Sethe s love is Too thick , Sethe explains to him that he needs to open up saying, Love is or it ain t, thin love ain t no love at all (Morrison 193 194). Here Sethe explains that in order to be free Paul D must love freely. All of the characters need to learn to find a middle ground. The text reads: I loved you, You hurt me, You came back to me, You left me, I waited for you, You are mine, You are mine, You are mine (Morrison 256). This quote demonstrates how the characters think love means owning a person. The phrase you are mine and you left me show the different sides of the spectrum when it comes to love. Whether a teacher is on one side of this argument or not, the likelihood is that a text book will be necessary and therefore the evaluation of any that may be used will be important. This importance swells considerably if the teacher believes that text books should be central to any course. For this reason, Soleimani and Ghaderi (2013, p. 44) contend that a textbook evaluation is a key task that should be undertaken by teachers but the question that is posed is what the best approach to evaluation is? They note the two stage model proposed by McDonough (2003), as has been discussed within this paper as well as the notion of coding in order that the evaluation is appropriately systematic. Indeed, Soleimani and Ghaderi (2013) add to this the notion of a checklist so that aspects within all areas of the book are adequately evaluated. China needed large amounts of sufficient energy for its big manufacturers and for its rapid increase in population. In the past, linfen was a pleasant farming community and also mentioned as the fruit and flower town . Its name comes from the Fen River in which its sits on. It was widely recognized as the city with running natural water springs. In the 1930 s, the town had less than a few thousand people

The Public School System Based on the information from the Scenario, the public school system in Washington, D.C is facing some problems and they want to improve their students performance and reduce the teachers turnover rate. Group Development The five stages of group development are: Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing and Adjourning. According to the text book Organizational Behavior, the first stage is forming, and it is characterized by a great deal of uncertainty about the group s purpose, structure, and leadership. (Robbins, 2014) When members think they are being part of the group, it is going to the second stage storming, and it is characterize by intragroup conflict . (Robbins, 2014) When the intragroup conflict is settling down and a relatively clear hierarchy of leadership in the group, it is going to the third stage norming. It is characterized by close relationships and cohesiveness. (Robbins, 2014) Members are building close relationship with each other and the group become cohesiveness. When a group structure solidifies and has assimilated a common set of expectations of what defines correct member behavior, (Robbins, 2014) it is time to move to the fourth stage performing. At this point, each member has known and accepted each other and they can work together to complete that task. The final stage is adjourning and it is wrapping up activities when the group task is achieved. From my point of view, Woodson Foundation, Public School system and NCPIE are still in the

Establishing a bundle price for both online streaming and DVD rental will allow The Netflix Company to recover some market shares and remain the leading overall digital film company. The recommendations are as follows: 1. Advertise the new bundle price of the online streaming and DVD rental. The advertisement department should develop new commercials about the changes that Netflix is about to offer for customers. The publicity of the new prices should ensure the growth on the profit for the company. 2. Emphasize that old customers will get the 1 month trial for free. This will definitely show all our customers that we want them to come back to Netflix as loyal customers and also if they come back they will be rewarded. 3. Stop charging for extra Blu ray rentals. Blockbuster has a DVD plans that does not charge extra for Blu ray. If Netflix offers the same service for a reasonable price more people will start using Netflix. Introduction/ Background

We face the problems of images projected by people not of us, she said. The media is the most powerful mind manipulating tool on the earth. (Ruby, 18) The perception of black women in the media today can be damaging to the self image of the young black women of today. During the Black Arts Movement, many artists and poets spoke of how white influence in our lives has created skewed beauty ideals in the African American community. This white influence tends to harm black women s images of themselves. Most female images seen in mainstream media are white, thin, tall and just plain gorgeous,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through history, culture, and media, Black women have most often been portrayed in some combination of three images: (1) as highly maternal, family oriented, and self sacrificing Mammies; (2) as threatening and argumentative Sapphires; and (3) as seductive, sexually irresponsible, promiscuous Jezebels. (West, 1) The stereotypical black woman is also often loud, angry, and over the top, which has been used to add humor to today s television programming and a lot of today s media. Even though today, images of black women are more common than in the past the same stereotypes remain. The mammy can often be seen as asexual, larger dark skinned black women who takes on a no nonsense maternal role. Mammy, one of the most pervasive images of Black women, originated in the South during slavery...Physically, she was depicted as a bandanna clad, obese, dark complexioned woman with African features. Her primary role was domestic service, characterized by long hours of work with little or no financial compensation. Subordination, nurturance, and constant self sacrifice were expected as she performed her domestic duties (Jewell, 1993). (West, 1) The mammy usually has a role in which she is serving such as the character Minnie Jackson in the controversial Oscar nominated film The Help. Mammy stemming from the word mother is a stereotype that reaches all the way back to

It s Superman! (Bridwell 11) These celebrated words have echoed for over six decades in American cultural and social society. Created by Jerry Siegel and Joseph Shuster, Supermanwas intended to fight greed, crime, injustice and abuse. The impact created by Superman, or better known to the average man as Clark Kent, extends far beyond the comic book itself. Although many have grown to love him for the courage he represents, the personification Superman employs deviates from what is truly natural or innately human by challenging undisturbed and irrefutable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wright, the introduction of Superman into American cultural was brought about by the need of young Americans to feel a connection with the common man . But instead, the connotation created by Superman strays far away from the notion of an ordinary man. By allocating the name Superman, he is connected to something that is god like and un human. Dennis Dooley and Gary Eagle present the argument that Superman achieves truly mythic stature, interweaving a pattern of beliefs, literary conventions and cultural traditions of the American people more powerfully and more accessibly than any other cultural symbol of the 20th century. But this mythic stature created a culture that allowed its followers to question nature and its power and allowed for the establishment of beliefs that were detrimental to the natural order of the world. Even Steve Skelton, the author of The Gospel According to the World s Greatest Superhero presents the fact there is a parallel between Superman and God. Have Siegel and Shuster gone too far? The cultural and social superhero of Superman was one that was intended to attract those who felt disconnected from the American world in which they lived. But, as time would tell, this action figure would translate into an omnipotent entity. Although most Americans look up to the Clark Kent disguised as his super self, there are several blurry implications that remain at the surface of these comic books. By assuming the name Superman,

  • 50. Psychological Manipulation In 1984 And V For Vendetta The Effects of Psychological Manipulation in 1984 and V for Vendetta It is believed that complete government authority is only possible through coercion and deceit. In both George Orwell s book, 1984, and James McTeigue s film, V for Vendetta, abusive and deceptive tactics are used by oppressive governments in order to change the behaviours and perceptions of their citizens. This is done to ensure that there are no acts of rebellion that challenge their sovereignty. Despite the similarity between these two dystopian societies, however, psychological manipulation is more effective in 1984 than in V for Vendetta because of the absence of laws, staged acts of terrorism, and lack of religious belief. In Orwell s novel, the absence of laws creates paranoia among citizens of Oceania, whereas the laws set forth by Norsefire, the governing body in V for Vendetta, allow citizens to have more freedom in their thoughts and actions. Thus, it is evident that INGSOC, the government in 1984, has more success in refraining citizens from rebelling. In Oceania, nothing [is] illegal, since there [are] no longer any laws (Orwell 8). This means INGSOC has unlimited power to do as they feel against any offence they deem punishable. Because of the fact that there are no written laws, citizens are unable to defend their innocence. This results in an immense fear among civilians to do anything out of routine or have rebellious thoughts. Even a nervous tic, an unconscious look of anxiety, [or] a
