A Superstar s Open Contempt
A Superstar s Open Contempt
For various folks, the description of the nature of Jesus prevails as a yielding, meek man that
merely wants people to be morally, loving toward each other; notwithstanding, this analogy
surfaces as being insultingly inadequate. For this man, if you want to call Him a man, shined as
a towering superstar and labored continually to tolerate people s ignorance and stupidity.
Throughout the four gospels, from the Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5 7), to all of His teachings
and parables, He does expound on people to strive to better their brotherly love, ethics, morals,
etc., speaking quite compassionately; while focusing mainly on people s spiritual
transformations, becoming born again. (John 3:3) Nevertheless, looking closer, there occur
matters that exhibit disregard and possibly open contempt numerous times (Matt 10:21, 10:34
38), even towards His own mother (Matt 12:46 50, Mar 3:31 35, John 2:4); in addition, He
demonstrates a temper to the point of killing a barren fig tree (Matt 21:18 21; Mark 11:12 14;
11:20 21).
Moreover, Jesus persists as constantly attacking people for their erroneous beliefs, and other unruly
behaviors; such as the Scribes, (Matt 5:20, 23:14 15), the Pharisees, (Matt 23:25, Luke 11:44); the
Sadducees, (Matt 16:11 12). He discredits Gentiles, and Samaritans (Matt 10:5); people buying and
selling in the temple (Matt 21:12); heathens (Matt 6:7); publicans (Matt 18:17); anyone outside of
the house of Israel (Matt 15:24 26);

The Bright Side Of School Uniforms. Education In The United
The Bright Side of School Uniforms Education in the United States from Kindergarten all the way
to 12th grade is known for its free education system. That s right, students all over the country are
given the opportunity to retrieve a high school diploma for free. Education in this country is so
important that schools around the country are pushing their board of educationto propose the policy
of school uniforms nationwide, as they believe school uniforms have a very beneficial and positive
effect on a student s learning abilities, behavior, and lifestyle. School uniforms are increasingly
becoming more popular throughout the United States, therefore schools across the country are
aware of how the uniforms help students make higher grades,... Show more content on

School uniforms are typically enforced by private or charter institutions, however, public schools
across the country are increasingly adopting the proposal of these uniforms. Who knew that the
way a student dresses everyday could have such a responsible role in the increase of their
performance within the classroom? Studies conducted by David L. Brunsma, a professor at Virginia
Tech, discuss the overall effect of school uniforms on a student body. The text mentions how about
one in five public schools during the 2013 2014 school year have effectively established school
uniforms at their institutions. This percentage may seem doubtfully small but from the perspective
of how many public schools are in the United States, which is roughly ninety nine thousand, the
number of effected schools in the country is quite a few. Although there is not any numerical
percentage of how much a student s academic achievement increases, it is well known that
uniforms simply make a student feel more calm and confident in themselves in general. School
uniforms are also beneficial in preventing visual distraction amongst the student body within the
classroom, because with an effective school uniform policy there are much less dress code
violations from both genders that can be seen as provocative attire. .

The Seafarer Poem Summary
Exile, is defined as a state of being barred from one s native country. How could that even be
possible; Being kicked out of a place of inhabitance. Many say that you d have to do something
unthinkable to have a punishment as grim as exile. During the lawless time of monsters and
unruly Kings, the Anglo Saxon era of poems make that all very practical. The creators of each
poem discuss the personal endeavors of each exile and how they each come to their own
acceptance, or not. The seafarer , Wanderer , and the Wife s Lament use various literary devices to
express the emotional toil, sorrow, and each theme of their exile.
First of all, in The Seafarer the writer discusses the internal conflicts he is having among the
waves of the sea. Even though this self chosen exile causes this man pain and sorrow, peace is
not a common entity for him while on land. The time for journeys would come and my soul
/ called me eagerly out, sent me over/ the horizon, seeking foreigners homes. (lines 36 38). The
gallant mortal does not doubt that there is no fear among his heart, but his longing for the tides
is far too strong to be confined to the dry, lifeless land. His experiences only bring him back to
where he feels at home the most the sea. But there isn t a man on earth so proud,/.../he feels no
fear as the sails unfurl/.../only the ocean s heave; But longing wraps itself around him. (lines 39
47). The way he shows his fearful arrogance is an example again of his internal conflict.

Deaf Again Essay
Could you picture yourself growing up as in a world where everyone treated you differently or
thought that you were stupid just because you are unable to hear? Well Mark Drolsbaugh
experienced that first hand. He explains his story of how he dealt with his hearing loss in his
novel Deaf Again. The book begins with a small child who could hear just fine, but as the story
progresses he becomes hard of hearingand eventually deaf. All this happens with in a couple of
years. Mark realized that he had a hearing problem in the first grade when he was presenting a
toy for show and tell. Another student asked him a question about his item, but he was so far
away Mark was unable to hear him. Mark s respond was a blank stare at the boy. The... Show more

Mark passed the test to get in to Germantown Friends School but the principle was unsure because
he was deaf. But after a little while he proved that he was able to handle that environment. He got
an interpreter to help him but by the time everything was translated it was too late. He was later to
be the only Deaf student to graduate from Germantown Friends School. He later attended
Gallaudet and realized that he was a normal person and could function just like everyone else.
While at Gallaudet he learned a lot about Deaf Culture and also met his wife there. He had a hard
life but in the end it is what made him who he was. Every parent who has a Deaf child should
read this book so they would understand what they need to do so their child has the most
advantage with their education and everyday life. There are many lessons that are taught, like you
should not force a child to use a hearing aid because they need to make their own decisions about
how they want to live, they might want to try to hear or just stay deaf because that is who they are.
I highly recommend this novel to

Cpr ( American Thoracic Society )
What is CPR? CPR stands for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. It is a medical technique used to
treat shortness of breath (American Thoracic Society). There are two types of CPR (American
Thoracic Society). The first of these two types is called Basic life Support (BLS) which is the
form of CPR that we see in most movies (American Thoracic Society). In BLS we use a
combination of chest compressions and artificial breathing (mouth to mouth) to stabilize a patient
(American Thoracic Society). The second Type of CPR is called Advanced Cardiac Life Support
(ACLS) in this form of CPR makes use of a combination of electric shocks, medication, or a
ventilator (American Thoracic Society).
What is CPR meant to treat? CPR can be used to treat Overdoses, excessive bleeding (after the
wound has been wrapped) Heart problems, infections in the blood stream, drowning, strokes,
electrical shocks, choking, lung disease, and poisoning(Heller, J. L. (n.d.). CPR).
In order to preform CPR you must follow the following steps, First Check your surroundings,
make sure there is nothing nearby that will injure your or the person in need of CPR (CPR
illustrated in three simple steps) Next, check for any response from the patient, shout or shake
their shoulders gently in order to check for a response (CPR illustrated in three simple steps). If
there is no respond tilt there head backward to open their airway (CPR illustrated in three simple

In a business buying center there are five different roles. The first role are the users. These are the
people who will be use the good or product. They influence the buying decisions because ultimately
they will be the ones using the product. The second role are the gatekeepers. These personnel are
the ones that give product data. They control what information the members of the buying center

I would tread the waters of global expansion and would first expand with our neighbors to the
south, Mexico. Some of the economic issues that I would run into would be the low income
revenue that families in Mexico face. The infrastructure in Mexico is well developed in major cities
but that is about it. Other cities have poor to non existent infrastructure. The way I would mitigate
these issues would be place my businesses in tourist cities (I.E. Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Quintana
Roo, Monterrey, and Etc.) and international airports.
The social culture difference that I would have to take into consideration are that many Mexicans
only speak English. I would have to get bilingual workers that spoke both Spanish and English. I
would also take into consideration the narco culture that they are currently living in. Many drug
gangs are running the country and I would have to mitigate that so my workers would be safe.
Technological issues would be minimal. Mexico is well off when it comes to internet technology.
Almost every home in major cities now have Wi Fi connection. My business would also be able to
provide this service. They also have cell phone service readily available in these major cities. I
would have minimal political legal issues. That is because of the North

blur detection algorithms has attracted many attentions in recent years. Blur detection algorithms
are very helpful in real life applications and it used for many purposes like image restoration,
image blurring and also for image enhancement. The root cause of blur can be extracted in many
applications. Blur can be classified into several main categories either it could be blur due to
motion or blur due image defocus, Primarily our research focuses on how to restore a motion blur
image by using several techniques like edge sharp analysis, low depth of field image segmentation,
lowest directional high frequency energy (for motion blur), and wavelet based histogram and
support vector machine. Then we will conclude our paper by implementing our mention methods

The Epic of Gilgamesh vs. the Biblical Flood Story Essay
September 4, 2011 Period 2 Comparative Essay In the Epic of Gilgamesh and The Biblical
Flood Story have a very similar plot line, but many several key differences. In both stories a
flood occurs, which were caused by the God/s( This shows that in Gilgamesh they were
polytheistic while in the Biblical version they were monotheistic. ) to destroy the people of the
earth. For both flood stories, a specific person is chosen to build an arc but for different reasons.
In the Biblical story, Noah builds the arc due to his righteous character but in Gilgamesh,
Utnapishtim built the arc to save himself. Later on in both stories birds are released making them

For both stories a specific person was picked out to survive the flood by building an arc but the
Gods went about it in different ways. In the Biblical Flood story, once the forty days of flooding
had finally come to a stop, Noah opened the window and released a bird. The first bird released
was a raven. The second was a dove. Now in the story of Gilgamesh, Utnapishtim set free a dove
first. The second bird released was a swallow and last was a raven. In both stories the bird were
released to find out when the water had receded. They both conclude their evidence in different
ways and the order of the release of the birds is opposite. God said to Noah, And I behold, I
establish my covenant with you and with your seed after you; and with every living creature with
you. And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the
waters of a flood; neither shall there anymore be a flood to destroy the earth. That s when God
made an everlasting covenant between himself and every living creature of all flesh on earth. Even
though, in the story of Gilgamesh, the Gods decided that it was wrong to punish mankind, they still
did not make a covenant with man. Instead of making a pact with humans they granted immorality
to Utnapishtim and his wife. In both stories they settled the flood in different ways separating the
stories. Even though the stories are similar in many aspects they have several key

Summary Cost of Capital
The Cost of Capital
1
Background
As investors desire to obtain the best/highest return on their investments in securities such as shares
(Equity) and loans to companies such as debentures (Debt), these returns are costs to the companies
paying these Dividends (on equity) and Interest (on
Debts)!
It all depends on the perspective from which we chose to view the calculation (are we Earning or
Paying?)
Companies MUST consider the cost of financing they receive in the form of equity or debt if they
are to manage their finances better; cheaper finance cost to the company means higher profitability
and in most cases, superior cash flow. Generally, the cost of EQUITY has no tax effect but the cost
of DEBT finance to companies are

The Cost of Debt
Based on equivalent assumptions to those used in the DVM above, we conclude that:
PV interest stream = Market Value (MV of debenture ) Note:
(DEBT in this case!)
The tax system gives tax relief on interest payments by allowing tax deductions from company s
Profit Loss account (thus REDUCING taxable profit). This has the effect of reducing the Cost of
DEBT or what do you think?
Lower Tax means lower cost of finance as WITHOUT the tax relief, the company will pay
HIGHER tax bills and the full cost of the loan BUT in this case, you pay the FULL interest BUT
save on TAX, see it?
Therefore the true cost to the company of servicing the debentures will be after the tax relief
subsidy is taken into account.

Elisabeth Condon’s Nocturne vs. Vincent van Gogh’s The...
Similarity in theme and color first drew me to select Elisabeth Condon s Nocturne (Bob
Rauschenberg Gallery) and Vincent van Gogh s The Starry Night (Frank 348) for this research
paper. Initially I wanted to pick two pieces that were different enough in order to form a decent
comparison and yet alike enough to connect them in some way. In the art gallery, Nocturne gave
me a feeling similar to the one I experienced when I first saw The Starry Night; there was
something otherworldly and mystical about it. It made you look at a greater expanse then the bit
of landscape that was shown in an unexpected way. Though each work was made in over a hundred
year gap from the other, both works use a brilliant use of color and a view of the sky... Show more

The artist of Nocturne, Elisabeth Condon, was heavily influenced by the places she has visited. Her
own craft of improvisational paint pouring combined with the influence of Eastern art, specifically
Chinese scrolls, helps to create the unique presence that each painting holds. Her paintings, collages
and drawings use improvisational pours of paint, sketchbook drawings and digital projections to
establish idiosyncratic compositions. Heeding the Tang Dynasty dictum of landscape as a fusion of
observation and memory, they interweave external and internal perceptions of particular locations
(ABOUT: Biography). The Starry Night is an oil painting that depicts a small, nestled town under
an almost magical sky. This piece, much like Elisabeth s Nocturne, possesses a dominance of cool
hues. While both paintings depict a night sky, Vincent van Goghs The Starry Night actually leads
the observer s eyes through the painting due to it s brush strokes and fluidity. Although the work is
very fluid and almost kinetic, it is not overwhelming or busy. Its rhythm is purposeful, not noisy. In
fact, the painting almost gives off a calming, spiritual feeling to the viewer. The sky over the
nestled town is a swirl of blue, yellow, and orange tints and shades that demonstrates an almost
ethereal influence as if something greater is meant to be shown than what is simply before the
observer. Radial

Honesty In The Military
When leading a team there must be a mutual understanding and being honest with all involved.
Being honest will inspire others to be truthful, have sincerity and be forthrightness when
volunteering information that the other person may need to know. (Josephson, 2002, p. 8) This
goes for both leaders and non leaders being honest will always the best policy. Equally important,
individuals need to stand up for what they believe in as this will take courage and honesty. For
example, both Abraham Lincoln and Rosa parks exemplified courage and stood up for what they
believed in. When the civil war approached Washington, D.C., the President risked being shot in

On the other hand, the aunt could have been upset because she was being questioned, but if she
has good intentions for her mother then there should be no problem to releasing that information
rather than go through a civil process in court. In addition, being sincere with words and actions
will eliminate untrue or misleading information. Leaders must work hard and be accurate to
prevent misunderstandings. It is important to remember not to play to the audience, and say
different things to different groups of people (Bushey, p. 5) as this will lead to a significant loss
of trust and possible arguments will be established. Always be honest, sincere and candid and
never take advantage of another person s trust, while at the same time there must be fairness.
There may be times when dishonesty may be justified, but this should only happen for safety
reasons such as lying to criminals or terrorists in order to save lives. When being dishonest it
should only be for those reasons just stated and not for winning a game or hitting a sales target to
avoid confrontation. (Josephson, 2002, p.

The Seafarer Essay
The sea can symbolize a multitude of emotions; some believe the sea is a simple for loneliness
and some believe it is a symbol of peacefulness. Many writers of used variations of these two
things to fit the story they are writing. The poem The Seafarer, tells a story about a man who is off
at sea working in the fifth century. The sailor goes through many thoughts and emotions while out
on the lonely sea. In the beginning of the poem, the sailor is struggling with his own wallowing.
He is consumed with the fact that he is not at home and is by himself on a ship. The sailor
makes it clear that he is scared and seems to really hate his life, but somehow in the middle of the
poem he finds faith and pride. He begins to reminisce on the great things waiting for him at home
and his time on the ship. The sailor overall begins to feel peacefulness at sea, instead of loneliness.

Polygamy Wives
One Wife or Multiple Wives? The practice or condition of having more than one spouse,
especially a wife, at one time, is polygamy ( Polygamy ). When pondering about the action and
process of polygamy, individuals in the United States most likely think about the pioneers that
traveled across the Mormon Trail to the area of present day Salt Lake City, Utah, in the 1800s;
these individuals yearned to escape religious persecution from others. Americans may look to
former prophets, like those of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints (Mormon) that practiced and taught the doctrine of polygamy to their followers
and believers in the mid 19th century ( Plural Marriagein Kirtland and Nauvoo ).

It is an important value to the FLDS Church. If the leaders did treat its followers, young and old,
respectfully and positively, polygamy would have a different stigma. Unfortunately, the FLDS
people do not treat each other correctly within the Church in the area of Short Creek. While
some of these points are somewhat valid, it is still not seen positive to legalize the act of
polygamy for the FLDS Church. Thus, with all the radical views and actions, it is not feasible.
The fact of the matter is polygamy needs to be stopped so individuals are free from being
molested, hurt, and abused in many different forms. So, in my personal opinion, I believe that
polygamy is negative and should stay illegal. There are so many individuals through the FLDS
Church that have been violated in ways that no person should ever experience. It is not something
as an act that could ever be positive. Despite many individual s thinking, polygamy is a practice
that is still valued today by the Fundamental Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and its
followers. It is mostly negative for its members, and does not have any positives correlated with the
practice. It causes much abuse among members, former and current, like the situation of Elissa
Wall, like stated previously. Unless the FLDS undergoes some major changes and reformations,
polygamy will most likely stay illegal for an extended amount of time. Even though they demand

Personality test can offer a great deal of insight to someone. After taking the Myers Brigs test, I

introversion, sensing, thinking, and judging, which very accurately describes me. While it can
be challenging for personality test to fully understand someone with just a few questions, this
Myers Brigs test described me very well. I very strongly agree with the results I have received.
The first letter of my score is I, which stands for introversion. I have always been more of an
introvert than an extrovert. Alone time is something I have always had an appreciation for and
felt was necessary for my happiness. The next letter in my type stands for sensing. This means I
heavily rely on my five senses to take in information. The aspect of me can be seen in the way I
learn. I feel I learn best when doing hands on activities, which is consistent with sensing people.

Reform Jews strive to bring peace, liberty, and amity to all people of the world through the
works of good and charitable deeds. In addition to carrying out good deeds, Reform Jews meet
weekly for the welcoming of Sabbath on Friday evenings in services. Sabbath is seen as an
everlasting sign of the covenant between the Jewish people and God. It is often viewed as a
point in which the Jewish people can discard of the cares or burden of the previous week and
welcome a peaceful state of rest (Fisher 285). These services are offered at 7:00P.M. on Friday
and 9:00A.M. on Saturday at Temple Beit HaYam. The Shabbat proceedings are lead by rabbis of
Reform Judaism. At Temple Beit HaYam, the services are administered and lead by Rabbi
Matthew Durbin. The congregation is committed to avodah , or worship through prayer and
observance, both while in and outside of the service (Temple Beit HaYam). As supplement to the
services, the Temple also offers educational services for both the youth and adult members of the
congregation. This educational program aims to teach Judaism as an active experience in the lives
of its students. The congregation also recognizes the importance of social unity and the value of
wholesome fun. The Reform denomination of Judaism remains to be seen in easy contrast to other
Jewish denominations for some of these

Optimism The Most Powerful Thing In The World
Optimism is a powerful thing. We know it more commonly as hope. Hope empowers us, and lets
us press on even in the face of defeat. However, having too much of it can be dangerous. The Jews
for example, during World War II, they had too much hope, and they wound up dead. Allow me to
expand. As I said before, optimism(hope) is the most powerful thing in the world, with the second
being fear. However, having too much of it is very dangerous. Too much hope can cause people to
have tunnel vision. Hope can restrict the ability to notice, or recognize the things that are going on
around them. People can get caught in a feeling of unending optimism, and therefore miss
important things like hazards, or dangerous things that could be occurring around them.... Show

The beginning of their optimism began even before the Nazi s captured their cities. An example of
this would be from the book entitled Night . The main character s city (Jewish), heard that some of
the other Jewish cities in their country, had been captured by the Nazis. The citizens of the main
character s city thought that they would be safe, and that the Nazis would not invade their city.
They believed that God would save them, therefore, they did not take any action to protect them
from the Nazis and from having their city captured by them. If they would have taken preventative
measures, like escaping their city, they could have prevented being captured by the Nazi s. Jews
were blinded with so much optimism that they did nothing to protect themselves. They carried on
with the belief that they would not have their cities invaded, and that they would therefore remain
safe. While this is not the case with all Jews, this is the many

Vladimir Lenin And The Bolshevik Revolution
According to the History.com Staff, The October Revolution began on November 6 and 7, 1917
(or October 24 and 25 on the Julian calendar). (Russian Revolution ). The October Revolution has
also been called the Bolshevik Revolution since the Bolshevik Party played a crucial role in the
revolution. The leader of the Bolshevik Party, Vladimir Leninwas a big supporter of Karl Marx.
Another Marxist who leads this revolution was Leon Trotsky. In an article by the History.com
Staff, Lenin had created an, almost, bloodless coup d Г©tat against the provisional government. (
Russian Revolution ). The Bolshevik revolution started when, Alexander Kerensky, rather than
follow an order. On October 24th, Kerensky ordered troops that were loyal, to act against the
Bolshevik. Encyclopædia Britannica tells us that, Kerensky was a socialist revolutionary who
served as head of the Russian Provisional Government. ( Aleksandr Kerensky ).
According to History.com Staff, The provisional government had created a group of leaders from
Russia s bourgeois capitalist class. Lenin would alternatively call for a Soviet state that would be
controlled directly by councils of workers, peasants, and soldiers. ( Russian Revolution ). Both
decided that the Soviets was going to be a useful instrument in the next revolution. They didn t want
the Soviets to have all the power until they could control them. In the book, Rise and fall of
Communism 2009, Archie Brown shows us that, On 12 October, according to the old calendar,
Trotsky took command of the Military Revolutionary Committee of the Petrograd Soviet and on
25 October...the Bolsheviks seized power in Petrograd (Brown 51). Insurrection was to start, but
there were complications with the date set. In the book, The History of the Russian Revolution
1960, Leon Trotsky says, At a session of the Petrograd Soviet on the 18th, Trotsky, in answer to a
question raised by the enemy, declared that the Soviet had not set a date for an insurrection, in the
coming days, but that if it became necessary to set one, the workers and soldiers would come out
as one man (Trotsky 162). There were forty thousand workers in the army of Petrograd.
On the 22nd of October, there was a meeting of the Red

The movie, Something the Lord Made, sings a paean about two successful men: Vivien Thomas
and Dr. Blalock. The movie shows how Vivien, the doctor s assistant, and Dr. Blalock, the head
doctor work together to solve a medical problem. On one hand, their relationship is so enviable
that their tacit cooperation is the key to their success in solving the blue baby puzzle that has
gotten the best of other proficient doctors. On the other hand, Dr. Blalock s stern, adventurous,
authoritative, and indifferent mentoring styles are controversial. The same mentoring style has
different effects on different people, and different people would prefer different mentoring styles.
Though my foremost mentor, my mom, was as stern as Dr. Blalock is, she is far more prudent
and considerate. Like Dr. Blalock, my mon was very stern, especially when it came to matters that
dealt with my studies, but she was doing it for my own good. Dr. Blalock undoubtedly is strict with
Vivien Thomas. When Vivien made his first mistake during an experiment, Dr. Blalock bursts out
and yells, Do you have sawdust or just plain... for brains? Although it later unexpectedly becomes
the opening of the two starting to respect each other, it first hurts Vivien so bad that he wants to
immediately quit the job his whole family relies on. My mom was stern with me too. She had a
very high standard about my grades. Also when I told her that there was something I wanted to

Social Classes
Education within social classes have grown exponentially apart over the last couple decades
because many different factors have been presented in today s society. Education plays an
important role in today s classification of social classes, but first we need to understand the
different levels of social classes. Social classesare often determined by education, occupation,
wealth, and your social network. These social classes are the upper class; top 3% and the
wealthiest, the middle class; 50% of the United States, and the lower/working class; typically
people of poverty, unemployment, and homelessness. Each level of class has different guidelines

These people are least educated and tend to live paycheck to paycheck. It is this class that you will
find people collecting welfare and living in government housing. Homelessness and unemployment
run high in this class. Anyone in this class lacks proper medical care, adequate housing, clothing
and food. Rarely will you find someone in this class that holds an advanced academic degree,
graduated high school, and are thinking about furthering their schooling into secondary schools past
the mandatory minimum education requirements. The lower class students are usually labelled in
school, as the ones who are uneducated, unmotivated, and predictable when the schooling gets
harder. This leads to the lower class students often feeling demoralized and uninspired to become
better, so they give up without even trying to succeed. With little to none support from their family,
most of these students start school unable to read, they test poorly, and are often absent a lot more
than usual. Education usually becomes of not of importance within this social group. By the time,
these students are actually eligible for special programs, grants, or loans they are often unmotivated

in the lower class, further separating the educational levels between

not others. While preceding your goal in life, there will be a lot of people who will try to belittle

In 1866, Congress allowed the use of the metric system in the United States. Congress gave each

The Great Hunger And The Irish Potato Famine
Intro The Great Hunger, Great Famine, the dreaded calamity, or if your outside of Ireland the
Irish Potato Famine. Occurring between 1847 1852, the famine claimed the lives of around one
million people and caused millions to flee Ireland, in order to escape the bleak situation it was.
Today I will be giving some background of life in Irelandbefore the faminestarted of the average
citizen, I will briefly discuss the pathogen that killed the potatocrop, the government response to the
famine, the overall consequences and reactions of the Irish people, and finally I will discuss the
ethical dilemmas that the famine raise.
Slide one Land Ownership Starting off I would like to explain what life was like for the average
Irish citizen in the mid 19th century. Most people were tenant agriculture farmers who worked
for landlords, who owned vast estates, but a great deal of them didn t, in fact, live in Ireland,
which lead to them being commonly referred to as absentee landlords. The landlords allotted
workers small plots of land to grow their own food in exchange for working the land growing
grain cash crops. In order to sustain a high calorie diet for themselves and their families, most of
these tenant farmers grew potatoes. This was primarily due to the fact you get a lot of bang for
your buck from potatoes as they yielded quite a bit of calories per acre. Outside of what the
tenants ate, Ireland produced quite a bit of food but this was mostly exported to England where

The Importance Of Environmental Justice
In todays world, there are a fair share of groups with opposing viewpoints as well as mindsets,
which often leads to conflict. Certainly the forestry world has had its fare share of people in power
making decisions based on whats best for them finically or personally, and not what is best for the
community and/or forest. Deep ecology includes a large majority of the same concepts in which
they want to work towards the best interest of the forest and environment, and for the majority
focus on the fact that humans are interfering with the forest to much as it is, and it needs to be
changed (Naess, 264). Environmental justice focuses on how currently there is an elitist
membership and narrow scope in the current conventional environmental practices and tries to work
towards sustainability(Gottlieb 1993). When both of these collide they create what is knows as
Wicked Problems , they go beyond scientific, economic, and techno rational analysis and
methods of problem solving ( Nie 307). Hence is is difficult to know when said conflict has been
solved, We use the term wicked in a meaning akin to that of malignant (in contrast to benign ) or
vicious (like a circle) or tricky (like a leprechaun) or aggressive (like a lion, in contrast to the
docility of a lamb) (Rittel and Webber 1973: p. 160) Recently there has been an increase in the
amount of drivers in the modern environmental movement, some of which are resource scarcity,
rise of outdoor recreation, changing

The interpretation of Article 234 In Van Gend en Loos v Nederlandse Administratie der
Balastigen[8], the plaintiff, a Dutch firm, tried to invoke Article 12 (now 25)[9] of the EC Treaty
before a Dutch tribunal, the Tariefcommissie. Using the Article 234 procedure the Tariefcommissie
referred two questions to the Court. Firstly, Whether Article 12…has direct application within
the territory of a Member State, in other words, whether nationals of such a State can, on the basis
of the article in question, lay claim to individual rights which the courts must protect .[10] It was
argued by the Dutch and Belgian Governments that this reference concerned the application of the
Treaty and not it s interpretation as required by Article 234, and hence that the Court had no
jurisdiction to consider it. The query, they considered, as a matter of Dutch constitutional law,
should be answered by the Dutch national courts, subject to Articles 226 and 227, which allow the
Commission and Member States to challenge actions of other Member States. In a superficial
holding that this reference related to interpretation only ,

The Simon Ehrlich Wager Case Summary
The Simon Ehrlich wager was all about this idea of Malthusian catastrophe (Regis, 1997). The
idea is that because of population growth we are running out of resources and we will eventually
exhaust them all and die out. Julian Simon the so call cornucopian doom slayer challenged the
Malthusian believer Paul Ehrlich to a bet. Simon told Ehrlich that he could pick any raw material
and and any date in the future. If Simon was correct the eventually price of these resources would

resources the price of these metal would increase. Ehrlich selected five assorted metal which

I definitely agree with Simon when he talks about the creativity and ingenious of humans. The
innovations we have today in not just the world of food production are absolutely mind blowing.
The machines we use for farming and how we change plants at the genetic level to suit us are
some of the many examples. Granted those inventions can somewhat be debated they are still
great examples of human s ability to problem solve. The part I am less hesitant to agree with is
that there is no problem at all. I think eventually we will reach some sort of semi Malthusian
catastrophe. Will it may not be exactly about food I think it s more likely going to be an issue of
land. We only have so much space on this planet and I think it there is anything that could be
used up it would be that. Also I am not blind to the fact the Simon did somewhat less then
problems of species loss. We are definably losing more then one species a year. Granted when it
comes to actual human survival that may not be an issues but when it comes down to the
diversity of life I think that is a problem. Another issues is that while we can technical always
come up for a solution for the growing need for more food, I think the cost of that is health.
Some of the things we are making and doing to feed the world are not going to always allow for a
health existence. Overall, I would say I definitely

Jonas Guran Anel s Upbringing
Jonas Guran Anel s upbringing was rather different than those of many sleepers. Born to a
coven of voodooists in rural Haiti in 1964, Jonas was never truly asleep, more than he was
confused. Jonas had always been a witness to the esoteric rituals of his ancestors carried out by
contemporary African voodooists. He had seen rather gruesome things such as human and
animal sacrifices that made strange impressions on the physical realm, smudging ceremonies
that produced amorphous screams, and so on. He even recanted seeing someone drop like a
sack of rocks at the utterance an incantation. What d he make of all of this? He wasn t sure, and

elders that it was the work of the Ldo, (which are the ancestral spirits that are worshipped in

hear of it. Should one hear of this sacrosanct information prematurely, their earlobes would be
decapitated and sacrificed to Ldo to prevent any retribution from making it s way upon the tribe.
The tribes believed that such information was granted directly by the spirits, and if misused or
exposed at an inappropriate time, would invoke their wrath upon everyone. All of this and more is
fascinating, but the question is, who is Jonas Anel? How did all of this effect him and how does it

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT GROUT FOR YOUR TILE
Choosing a different grout color for your tile can add a touch of elegance or a distinct modern flair
to your design.
Grout is more than just the cement that fills and holds your tile together; it is an important element
of the tilework s design. Often disregarded, grout selection is as significant as the tile you select,
and it is the finishing touch that will bring together your unique design.
Grout varieties have expanded over the last decade and nowadays, you can find grout in virtually

Sanded grout is less expensive and should be used if the spaces between the tiles are greater than
1/8 inch. Non sanded or unsanded grouts, tend to cost more and are made specifically for grout
lines smaller than 1/8 inch. Unsanded grout will shrink as it cures and the more grout you have,
the more it will shrink. If you try to fill grout lines that are too wide, the grout will shrink enough
to pull away from the sides of the tile. Make sure to talk with your installer about choosing the right
grout for your specific project.
Tips for Selecting Grout
Install a few pieces of tile on a piece of plywood and add a couple of different colors of grout.
Allow it to properly cure and then place it in the room you are having the tile installed to see how
the lighting affects your choice. When selecting grout colors, keep the following tips in mind:
If you have selected a colored grout, make sure to give it time to cure before making a final

Lighter colored grouts should be sealed, especially in heavy traffic areas and in showers.
Darker colored grouts are better at hiding discolorations and dirt, but can also fade if subjected to

It was years ago before let s say the last 10 years. Nowadays, we just have too many people with
soft skin demanding that X Y and Z happen in comics because it hurts their feelings. It s caused
Marvel to scramble and make weird decisions, the most important of which to me is the re

character with a different gender or race is not being legitimately influential to those groups, in
my opinion. It s forcing something to happen to simply pander to people whining on the
internet. There have already been successful and well written black and female characters in
Marvel before. Luke Cage, Black Panther, Blade, Bishop of the X Men, She Hulk, Jean Grey,
Storm, Invisible Woman, Scarlet Witch...all of these characters are very well developed and
have all had major roles in various crossover events and within their own comics. It s not racist to
say that it s stupid that there s a black spiderman. I mean when he was in the ultimates universe it

The Model Of Racial Equality
In certainty, the model of racial equality has not always been performed, nor has it been fully
accomplished in the world. This is because the acceptance in racial equality has been said to
counter deeply rooted beliefs in racial inequality and political, legal, and customary practices of
racial discrimination and oppression. Therefore, racial equality is stated in antiracist philosophy
and in antiracist political mobilization.
With this said, as citizens, are we still equal? The answer to that question is no . The world is
living in Orwellian times where citizens are equal, but some citizens are more equal than others.
While some agree, there are many groups that are pushing for reform and equality, such as Take
Back Our Republic, By The People, and Common Cause: Holding Power Accountable. Now that
the facts are said, we must ask how did we become so unequal? Over time, big corporations, racial
groups, and corruption in government have been advocating inequality for the minority. Some
people are filled with wrong ideas and beliefs that attack those in the minority group, especially
people of color. Franklin said, almost from the beginning of their national history, people have been
relentless, at times ruthless, in their pursuit of equality.

tactician and a master at commanding his troops, which is why he is regarded as one of the best
generals of the Civil War. As a young child Jackson was orphaned and sent to live with relatives.
Later on he went to the Virginia Military Institute and studied artillery ( Thomas ). From there
Jackson was commissioned in Winfield Scott s army and served in the Mexican War, serving
with distinction ( Thomas ). According to Bruce Tap, Jackson was married twice in his lifetime,
his first wife was Mary Jackson while his second wife was Elinor Jackson. During the course of
his life Jackson has no kids. During his military as well as academic career, Jackson had many
successes one of which was becoming a professor of artillery at Virginia Military Institute
(Davis). Also Jackson commanded an army of roughly 17,000 men at the Battle of Bull Run and
defended and defeated an army of almost 70,000 men (Davis). Jackson s nickname Stonewall
came from a battle where he and his army repelled and advancing Union force of men. The way he
managed this was just setting up his soldiers in a Strong line (Lanning). Because of these

The essay was written in February 2011 and appeared in Forbes. Salzburg s concern is that the
universities are placing more importance on the athletics and football than academics. His essay
displays organization and he provided details to reply his point as I will try to do the same in my
essay. The resources support my main claim; football is very profitable for many universities, but at
what cost to the students outside of the athletic department. What happens to the lost athletic
players that received a poor college education? I learned that more 30 percent of student athletes
does not graduate, and that 12 percent more money is spent on athlete students than general
students. Salzburg uses Forbes as his platform to reach his audience of his peers and business
professional. He provides a logical argument that students in both the academics and athletic
department can appreciate. Salzburg is the Bloomberg Distinguish Professor at John Hopkins

The George Hotel s Prospects for the future
The George Hotel is a controversial project that will bring much needed rejuvenation to a lacking
lower Gibsons. The George though being battled by many will bring much needed employment
opportunities to the sunshine coast. This expansion to our waterfront will also bring with it a
boost in tourism and keep the bustling culture of lower Gibsons alive. With this project comes
heavy opposition from people all over the Sunshine Coast. Many people feel that the design of
this project is not aesthetically pleasing and will not fit in with the quaint style of our town. I
would like to pose the question what is the style of this town? Is there a style of architecture that
is recognizable feature of Gibsons or does the the differentiation of all buildings make Gibsons
unique. One other problem that has been posed is the breaking of the OCP height restrictions.
The proposed height for The George is 25 metres which is approximately 8 stories, double the
current OCP restrictions. People worry that if we were to change the rules for one building would
other developers run in and try slip under the rules too. For this town to further flourish we need to
think about changing some of the rules of the OCP to allow projects that will help further our
community culturally, and economically. Economically speaking The George will provide many
full and part time jobs for residents of the Sunshine Coast. A proposed 130 full time and part time in

Fame Isn t Everything Kurt Cobain was born in Aberdeen, Washington on February 20, 1967.
When Cobain turned eight, his childhood was no longer filled with happiness due to his parents
divorce. After receiving a guitar for his fourteenth birthday, Cobain found an outlet for his
emotions. In 1987, Cobain and his friends formed a band, which became known as Nirvana. Two
years later, they came out with their first album called Bleach. During Nirvana s first European

Cobain s first suicidal attempt in 1992 was thought to be a mistake, until his three page suicide note
was found (Kurt Donald Cobain, 2014). He also spoke of having suicidal genes due to the fact that
two men in his family committed suicide when Cobain was a child (Freeman, 2012). Although
Cobain didn t necessarily have five of the nine symptoms to diagnose him with Major Depressive
Disorder, it is not hard to see that he was a very depressed soul (Kurt Cobain and his battle with
Mental Illness, 2014). Many factors play a part in his depression many that began at the age of
seven. Tragically, Cobain was not able to overcome his mental illnesses and live on to complete
his legacy. I believe that Cobain had been suicidal from the time he was a young boy. His
childhood pushed him into his depression at such a young age and only worsened as time went
on. Although, Cobain was an extremely gifted human being, who brought himself so much fame,
it was not enough for him to feel the need to keep living. He was a very sensitive man, who felt
emotion so deeply that the slightest negative thing could send him over the edge. Cobain stated in

Short Narrative Essay On P. O. V.
Wooow, he just died, I exaggeratedly thought to myself, but with my mouth open. I stood in the
pounding rain glimpsing at Doodle, didn t know whether to be happy or sad. No emotion appears
upon me, but questions were roaming my head: How am I going to tell mom and dad? What
should I say? How should I say it?
Well you only live once, I insisted, what could go wrong. I took a deep breathe and slowly walked
back to the house, scared of the reaction I was about to get.
I entered the house, Ma, Doodle s dead, I yelled. She didn t hear me, so it gave me more time to
think on the situation. Now I m thinking; ok if I say it like this then it won t sound bad, but what
if they take it the wrong way, what if they kill me, would they hate me forever. I paused. Took a
deep breathe. I have to focus. Mom, Dad Doodle s my thought was interrupted by my mom s
appearance.
You called me, son, Mama questioned as she came from upstairs, you re soaking wet and where s
Doodle.
Meanwhile outside in the rain Doodle s P.O.V I can t believe he fell for that prank, Doodle
snickered. Matter of fact, I bamboozled the whole family because I m perfectly fine and capable of
the things of a normal 6 year old. I can walk and have great grammar, even while my body is tiny.
This rain feels pleasant on my body, it s really refreshing. Nature feels great. I didn t like the way

Olympic Games And Its Impact On Society
Sports have played a major role in society for as far back as dated history goes. Today s greatest
sporting events capture the interest of billions of people. No one sporting event is greater than the
Summer Olympic games, for it brings together athletes from all across the globe to compete and
represent their respected nations. Winning an Olympic gold medal can create a widespread feeling
of patriotism and unite a nation. Unfortunately, the events of the 1972 Olympic Gameswere a
catastrophic disaster. Consequently, the following will reveal the 1972 Munich Summer Olympic
Gamestragedy and the ramifications of its build up, the event, and the lasting effects on society.
The events that occurred at the 1972 Olympics were the result of a long conflict between
Palestinian Arabs and Israeli Jews dating to the end of the nineteenth century. The two nations
have contrasting religious beliefs and conflict broke out between them for who had the ownership
of a strip of land that both states considered to be holy. From the end of World War I until 1948,
the area that both groups claimed was known internationally as Palestine. Following the war of
1948 1949, this land was divided into three parts: The State of Israel, the West Bank (of the Jordan
River) and the Gaza Strip. It is a small area approximately 10,000 square miles, or about the size of
the state of Maryland. Both nations cited historical religious evidence for why the land should
belong to them and no solution could be

Propaganda And Persuasion During The Russian Civil War
During the 1918 Russian Civil War, there was news depicting Leon Trotsky as the leader of the
Red Army. The news was accompanied by pictures of a dragon with a top hat that were used to
describe the head as the fighter in Saint George advocating for communism. It was regarded as the
main weapon to combat capitalism. The title of the news associated with the leader was the theme
of counter revolution printed on the picture. The Russian diverse interests in capitalism, socialism
and monarchism required massive support for the Red Army to defeat the South Russian White
Army. The Red Army use of pictures for persuasion prompted immense public support. This essay
explores the story of the Russian Civil War by Mawdsley to develop the difference between
persuasion and propaganda.

Changing Perspective From Global Warming

Dr. Christopher Carney ENGL 1301
20 June 2016
Changing Perspective from Global Warming to Climate Change Global warming is one of the
biggest problems facing the world today. Global warming is the rise in the earth s mean surface
temperature due to increase of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, which affects life forms on
the earth s surface. The scientific consensus as summarized by the Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change (IPCC) is that the global average surface temperature has risen over the last
century. Many scientists believe that global warming is caused mainly by the production of carbon
dioxide (greenhouse gas) and any fabricated pollution without taking into account the natural
factors. The earth is kept warm due to what is known as the greenhouse effect. Without it the
earth would be frozen; the short wave length of ultraviolet radiation coming from the sun
penetrates the atmosphere and is absorbed by the earth, which thereby warms the earth. These
gases are known as greenhouse gases. The effects of global warming include increased
temperature, rise in sea levels, increase in insects that spread disease and tropical storms. A
greenhouse gas does not cause these effects. The Great Global Warming Swindle documentary
shows a group of scientists through scientific research that carbon dioxide is not responsible for
global warming. They believe the real cause of global warming is the sun. Global warming is
caused by the sun

How Did The Causes Of China Lead To Economic Success
With a gross domestic product (GDP) calculated at the equivalent of $11.06 trillion and an average
growth rate of 1.84 percent, China has the potential to surpass the United States economy by the
year 2030 (citation 1). China s rapid GDP growth is caused mainly by state investment, high
exportation, and successes with e commerce (citation 2). However, Chinawas not always a country
eager to open its doors to economic opportunity. Instead, the government strove to maintain self
dependency and to limit influence from other countries. Through the decades of isolation, many
countries attempted to gain trade relations with China. These attempts usually were unsuccessful. It

Zhao Kuangyin, the founder of the Bei Song region, obtained power by leading a sudden and
violent seizure of the former Northern Han Empire. Once the empire was nearly under Kuangyin s

under his temple name of Taizu (citation 4). Taizu maintained rule of the Song Dynastyuntil his

late brother s work of attempting to unify China by eliminating their enemies (citation 5). The
attempts were unsuccessful and, instead, the Bei Song Dynasty solely maintained peace. The
emperors following Taizong allowed the bureaucracy to slowly disintegrate, allowing enemy forces
to effortlessly take over. In 1127, the Juchen Tribes overthrew the emperor and took over the Bei

We need to be aware that by people leaving the rural areas the shops we love the most may not be

now to 10 years ago, its looks completely different. Due to the small business being foreclosed,
we are not turning into very healthy downtown. But the stores that we still have we need to take
advantage of them because you never know how long they will be there for. Rural areas through
the country are facing the triple threat, the biggest defeat that can ever happen. Triple threat

Carr and Kefalas persuade small business owners, farmers and ranchers, and communities, that
they aren t the only ones facing the fear. No one would deny that finding work in today s

unemployment, and shrinking wages and benefit ( Carr and Kefalas 21). As a citizen for rural area, I

What Is The Purpose Of Shifting Speech Patterns In...
Introduction Throughout the course of political campaigns, candidates travel throughout a set
district in order to gain the support of various constituents. In doing so, speech patterns may be
dependent upon the audience being addresses and by how concerned a candidate is with winning
that group s approval. Such changes unconsciously manifest, while others could be deliberate
alterations to one s speech. For this project, I would be examining this idea by analyzing modern
political campaign tactics and speeches; particularly, President Barack Obamawould be the focal
point of my analysis. President Barack Obama emerged as a charismatic figure of the American
political scene. In 2004, then Senator Obama delivered a hopeful message during... Show more

Through in depth analysis of his political career, an answer will manifest. If so, are these
changes voluntary or involuntary? In addition, the purpose of shifting speech patterns will be
investigated. For answering the first question, my data, a collection of speeches made by
President Barack Obama, will allow me to analyze how a national politician may speak when
going across the country. Analysis would involve deep looks into the speeches and transcribing
of speech patterns. Such patterns may include changes in tone and pitch, hand gestures, selective
vocabulary, etc. These processes are similar across the board as all of these questions would
require the same looks into my data. To hypothesize, based on previous work in this course, I
believe that the results will show a deliberate change of speech with Barack Obama s speeches. In
order to gain votes from the people, one must pretend to be among the people.
Significance
Politicians compete every year for some level of power and authority. Voters grant such authority
through a democratic system of elections. Simply, elections are popularity contest as voters look
for the person who embodies the values they hold dear. Therefore, a politician fights to earn every
vote which he/she possibly can. One of the most distinct ways to make connect with people is to
speak the region s common language, whether that be a dialect or entirely different language than
before. This idea leaves

My Education Experience
It all started that first day of kindergarten, as my grandma took a picture of me in my blue skirt
and Barbie lunch box that today would start the rest of my life. We waited for the bus to come
pick my brother and me up. That summer we made the decision to attend public school. From that
moment, I knew my life was going to change, now I was going to the same elementary schoolthat
my dad had attended. I got on the bus with the confidence to start my educationthe best I could.
My experiences that happened throughout K 12 schools, I say were pretty generic, nothing crazy
happened. My education started in Indiana, where the environment and standards were a bit
different from South Carolina. The thing that stood out the most is the use of yes ma am and no
sir , this was expected to be said in school, while up North I could have said yes or no. I connected
more with my teachers in Elementary school than I ever did with middle and high school. The first
two years of elementary school, of what I could remember is what group did I fit in, who can I
see myself being friends with. What I remember the most from elementary school were my
teachers from the second and third grade. My second grade teacher was also my brother s teacher
also my dad s first grade teacher. Mrs. Baylette she was an older woman, was allergic to milk.
When doing multiplication tables, if you got them all right within a span of a month or, so she and
the student teacher would take you out for dinner. With my

Most Influential Jazz Singer, Billie Holiday
Billie Holiday The Harlem Renaissance was an African American cultural movement specifically
in creative arts such as music and literature. Jazz represented the flavor and zest of African
American culture in the 1920s 1940s. Billie Holiday had a great impact on the Harlem Renaissance
because she was one of the most influential jazzsingers of all time. She performed with other great
jazz musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Teddy Wilson, Jo Jones, and Henry Allen. Her career as
a jazz singer was an incredible and thriving one, however, it was shortened because of her battle of
substance abuse. Despite the drug use and the loss of her mother, the only thing she could turn to
was her music. Billie Holidays legacy will always live on when the discussion of the Harlem
Renaissance is present. Billie Holiday was born on April 7, 1915 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
under her birth name, Eleanora Fagan. Billie Holiday was an American jazz singer, from the
1930s to the 50s. All her life she lived with her mother because she did not know her biological
father. She grew up in Baltimore, Maryland until her mother, Sadie Fagan, decided to move to New
York in search of a better job. In New York, Holiday found a job at a Harlem nightclub. This job
will encourage her to pursue a career in music and go on tour with other great artists. She borrowed
her professional stage name from her favorite screen star, Billie Dove. Holiday s career started off

Investigatory Design A systematic search of the database PsycINFO was conducted, as this
research repository is considered the leading scholarly file of research in the social and

appeared since 1989 (614 of 840 citations) based on Total output; for journal references (69%),
for books (88%), for dissertations (89%). Based on this analysis there has been no decline on the
volume of research on drawing techniques evident in journal publications or books over the past
decade. Table 2 summarizes survey findings of both academic and applied settings on training
emphasis andusage of drawing techniques since 1989. This analysis includes the 60 published
studies that were identified in journal publications, based on clinician/practitioner and academic

the USA. Findings Of note, 2 caveats are in order: First, survey results are almost always based
only on those respondents who use tests or based on official clinical records;hence, many studies
report data on less than 50% of sample surveyed due to a high percentage of non responders. Thus,
in the aggregate, individual tests may be popular , but only within the parameters of professionals
who rely on tests in assessment. Second, an individual test s ranking is

Diet Soda Essay
How many times are people at a restaurant and their waitresses continuously refill their glasses of
soda? Soda is one of the most popular drinks that people consume on a daily basis. There are
many different flavors and types. The most common types include Pepsi, Coke, and Dr. Pepper,
each including diet and zero. Many people only think about the sugarcorrelating to caries and not
the acid. Citric acid and phosphoric acid are the main acids found in soft drinks. Phosphoric acid
is a corrosive acid found in many different forms. It can be found in fertilizers, soaps, dyes,

According to Dimensions of Dental Hygiene the acid can be as corrosive as acid in car batteries.
The acid is able to demineralize the enamel without sugar causing the PH of the mouth to lower.
The acid attack lasts twenty minutes each time a sip is taken. Root beer may be the best soda to
consume because it is the least acidic. It is often not carbonated and has very little to no citric or
phosphoric acid (Lloyd, 2007). The best time to drink a soda would be with meals to reduce the
constant sipping through the day. The caries from soda can be worse in children because their
enamel is not fully developed until they get older. According to Dimensions of Dental Hygiene,
the dietary guidelines for added sugars are different for children, men, and women. Children
should consume three teaspoons, about 50 calories, per day. Men should consume nine teaspoons,
about 150 calories, per day. Women should consume six teaspoons, about 100 calories, per day.

  • 2. A Superstar s Open Contempt A Superstar s Open Contempt For various folks, the description of the nature of Jesus prevails as a yielding, meek man that merely wants people to be morally, loving toward each other; notwithstanding, this analogy surfaces as being insultingly inadequate. For this man, if you want to call Him a man, shined as a towering superstar and labored continually to tolerate people s ignorance and stupidity. Throughout the four gospels, from the Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5 7), to all of His teachings and parables, He does expound on people to strive to better their brotherly love, ethics, morals, etc., speaking quite compassionately; while focusing mainly on people s spiritual transformations, becoming born again. (John 3:3) Nevertheless, looking closer, there occur matters that exhibit disregard and possibly open contempt numerous times (Matt 10:21, 10:34 38), even towards His own mother (Matt 12:46 50, Mar 3:31 35, John 2:4); in addition, He demonstrates a temper to the point of killing a barren fig tree (Matt 21:18 21; Mark 11:12 14; 11:20 21). Moreover, Jesus persists as constantly attacking people for their erroneous beliefs, and other unruly behaviors; such as the Scribes, (Matt 5:20, 23:14 15), the Pharisees, (Matt 23:25, Luke 11:44); the Sadducees, (Matt 16:11 12). He discredits Gentiles, and Samaritans (Matt 10:5); people buying and selling in the temple (Matt 21:12); heathens (Matt 6:7); publicans (Matt 18:17); anyone outside of the house of Israel (Matt 15:24 26); ... • 3. The Bright Side Of School Uniforms. Education In The United The Bright Side of School Uniforms Education in the United States from Kindergarten all the way to 12th grade is known for its free education system. That s right, students all over the country are given the opportunity to retrieve a high school diploma for free. Education in this country is so important that schools around the country are pushing their board of educationto propose the policy of school uniforms nationwide, as they believe school uniforms have a very beneficial and positive effect on a student s learning abilities, behavior, and lifestyle. School uniforms are increasingly becoming more popular throughout the United States, therefore schools across the country are aware of how the uniforms help students make higher grades,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... School uniforms are typically enforced by private or charter institutions, however, public schools across the country are increasingly adopting the proposal of these uniforms. Who knew that the way a student dresses everyday could have such a responsible role in the increase of their performance within the classroom? Studies conducted by David L. Brunsma, a professor at Virginia Tech, discuss the overall effect of school uniforms on a student body. The text mentions how about one in five public schools during the 2013 2014 school year have effectively established school uniforms at their institutions. This percentage may seem doubtfully small but from the perspective of how many public schools are in the United States, which is roughly ninety nine thousand, the number of effected schools in the country is quite a few. Although there is not any numerical percentage of how much a student s academic achievement increases, it is well known that uniforms simply make a student feel more calm and confident in themselves in general. School uniforms are also beneficial in preventing visual distraction amongst the student body within the classroom, because with an effective school uniform policy there are much less dress code violations from both genders that can be seen as provocative attire. . ... • 4. The Seafarer Poem Summary Exile, is defined as a state of being barred from one s native country. How could that even be possible; Being kicked out of a place of inhabitance. Many say that you d have to do something unthinkable to have a punishment as grim as exile. During the lawless time of monsters and unruly Kings, the Anglo Saxon era of poems make that all very practical. The creators of each poem discuss the personal endeavors of each exile and how they each come to their own acceptance, or not. The seafarer , Wanderer , and the Wife s Lament use various literary devices to express the emotional toil, sorrow, and each theme of their exile. First of all, in The Seafarer the writer discusses the internal conflicts he is having among the waves of the sea. Even though this self chosen exile causes this man pain and sorrow, peace is not a common entity for him while on land. The time for journeys would come and my soul / called me eagerly out, sent me over/ the horizon, seeking foreigners homes. (lines 36 38). The gallant mortal does not doubt that there is no fear among his heart, but his longing for the tides is far too strong to be confined to the dry, lifeless land. His experiences only bring him back to where he feels at home the most the sea. But there isn t a man on earth so proud,/.../he feels no fear as the sails unfurl/.../only the ocean s heave; But longing wraps itself around him. (lines 39 47). The way he shows his fearful arrogance is an example again of his internal conflict. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book begins with a small child who could hear just fine, but as the story progresses he becomes hard of hearingand eventually deaf. All this happens with in a couple of years. Every parent who has a Deaf child should read this book so they would understand what they need to do so their child has the most advantage with their education and everyday life. Some of the economic issues that I would run into would be the low income revenue that families in Mexico face. The infrastructure in Mexico is well developed in major cities but that is about it. Other cities have poor to non existent infrastructure. The way I would mitigate these issues would be place my businesses in tourist cities (I.E. Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Monterrey, and Etc.) and international airports. The social culture difference that I would have to take into consideration are that many Mexicans only speak English. I would have to get bilingual workers that spoke both Spanish and English. I would also take into consideration the narco culture that they are currently living in. Many drug gangs are running the country and I would have to mitigate that so my workers would be safe. Technological issues would be minimal. Mexico is well off when it comes to internet technology. Almost every home in major cities now have Wi Fi connection. For both stories a specific person was picked out to survive the flood by building an arc but the Gods went about it in different ways. In the Biblical Flood story, once the forty days of flooding had finally come to a stop, Noah opened the window and released a bird. The first bird released was a raven. The second was a dove. Now in the story of Gilgamesh, Utnapishtim set free a dove first. The second bird released was a swallow and last was a raven. In both stories the bird were released to find out when the water had receded. They both conclude their evidence in different ways and the order of the release of the birds is opposite. And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there anymore be a flood to destroy the earth. That s when God made an everlasting covenant between himself and every living creature of all flesh on earth. Even though, in the story of Gilgamesh, the Gods decided that it was wrong to punish mankind, they still did not make a covenant with man. • 10. Summary Cost of Capital The Cost of Capital 1 Background As investors desire to obtain the best/highest return on their investments in securities such as shares (Equity) and loans to companies such as debentures (Debt), these returns are costs to the companies paying these Dividends (on equity) and Interest (on Debts)! It all depends on the perspective from which we chose to view the calculation (are we Earning or Paying?) Companies MUST consider the cost of financing they receive in the form of equity or debt if they are to manage their finances better; cheaper finance cost to the company means higher profitability and in most cases, superior cash flow. The tax system gives tax relief on interest payments by allowing tax deductions from company s Profit Loss account (thus REDUCING taxable profit). This has the effect of reducing the Cost of DEBT or what do you think?

  • 12. Elisabeth Condon’s Nocturne vs. Vincent van Gogh’s The... Similarity in theme and color first drew me to select Elisabeth Condon s Nocturne (Bob Rauschenberg Gallery) and Vincent van Gogh s The Starry Night (Frank 348) for this research paper. Initially I wanted to pick two pieces that were different enough in order to form a decent comparison and yet alike enough to connect them in some way. In the art gallery, Nocturne gave me a feeling similar to the one I experienced when I first saw The Starry Night; there was something otherworldly and mystical about it. It made you look at a greater expanse then the bit of landscape that was shown in an unexpected way. Though each work was made in over a hundred year gap from the other, both works use a brilliant use of color and a view of the sky... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The artist of Nocturne, Elisabeth Condon, was heavily influenced by the places she has visited. Her own craft of improvisational paint pouring combined with the influence of Eastern art, specifically Chinese scrolls, helps to create the unique presence that each painting holds. Her paintings, collages and drawings use improvisational pours of paint, sketchbook drawings and digital projections to establish idiosyncratic compositions. Heeding the Tang Dynasty dictum of landscape as a fusion of observation and memory, they interweave external and internal perceptions of particular locations (ABOUT: Biography). The Starry Night is an oil painting that depicts a small, nestled town under an almost magical sky. This piece, much like Elisabeth s Nocturne, possesses a dominance of cool hues. While both paintings depict a night sky, Vincent van Goghs The Starry Night actually leads the observer s eyes through the painting due to it s brush strokes and fluidity. Although the work is very fluid and almost kinetic, it is not overwhelming or busy. Its rhythm is purposeful, not noisy. In fact, the painting almost gives off a calming, spiritual feeling to the viewer. The sky over the nestled town is a swirl of blue, yellow, and orange tints and shades that demonstrates an almost ethereal influence as if something greater is meant to be shown than what is simply before the observer. Being honest will inspire others to be truthful, have sincerity and be forthrightness when volunteering information that the other person may need to know. (Josephson, 2002, p. 8) This goes for both leaders and non leaders being honest will always the best policy. Equally important, individuals need to stand up for what they believe in as this will take courage and honesty. It is important to remember not to play to the audience, and say different things to different groups of people (Bushey, p. 5) as this will lead to a significant loss of trust and possible arguments will be established. Many writers of used variations of these two things to fit the story they are writing. The poem The Seafarer, tells a story about a man who is off at sea working in the fifth century. The sailor goes through many thoughts and emotions while out on the lonely sea. In the beginning of the poem, the sailor is struggling with his own wallowing. He is consumed with the fact that he is not at home and is by himself on a ship. The sailor makes it clear that he is scared and seems to really hate his life, but somehow in the middle of the poem he finds faith and pride. He begins to reminisce on the great things waiting for him at home and his time on the ship. The sailor overall begins to feel peacefulness at sea, instead of loneliness. ... • 15. Polygamy Wives One Wife or Multiple Wives? The practice or condition of having more than one spouse, especially a wife, at one time, is polygamy ( Polygamy ). When pondering about the action and process of polygamy, individuals in the United States most likely think about the pioneers that traveled across the Mormon Trail to the area of present day Salt Lake City, Utah, in the 1800s; these individuals yearned to escape religious persecution from others. Americans may look to former prophets, like those of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) that practiced and taught the doctrine of polygamy to their followers and believers in the mid 19th century ( Plural Marriagein Kirtland and Nauvoo ). If the leaders did treat its followers, young and old, respectfully and positively, polygamy would have a different stigma. Unfortunately, the FLDS people do not treat each other correctly within the Church in the area of Short Creek. While some of these points are somewhat valid, it is still not seen positive to legalize the act of polygamy for the FLDS Church. Thus, with all the radical views and actions, it is not feasible. The fact of the matter is polygamy needs to be stopped so individuals are free from being molested, hurt, and abused in many different forms. So, in my personal opinion, I believe that polygamy is negative and should stay illegal. There are so many individuals through the FLDS Church that have been violated in ways that no person should ever experience. It is not something as an act that could ever be positive. Despite many individual s thinking, polygamy is a practice that is still valued today by the Fundamental Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and its followers. It is mostly negative for its members, and does not have any positives correlated with the practice. It causes much abuse among members, former and current, like the situation of Elissa Wall, like stated previously. Unless the FLDS undergoes some major changes and reformations, polygamy will most likely stay illegal for an extended amount of time. Even though they demand religious ... My score is ISTJ. This stands for introversion, sensing, thinking, and judging, which very accurately describes me. While it can be challenging for personality test to fully understand someone with just a few questions, this Myers Brigs test described me very well. I very strongly agree with the results I have received. The first letter of my score is I, which stands for introversion. I have always been more of an introvert than an extrovert. Alone time is something I have always had an appreciation for and felt was necessary for my happiness. The next letter in my type stands for sensing. This means I heavily rely on my five senses to take in information. The aspect of me can be seen in the way I learn. I feel I learn best when doing hands on activities, which is consistent with sensing people. The third letter in my type is T, which represents thinking. Like the other personally traits from this test, this one accurately describes me. Thinking people prefer solid logic, and facts. I have always... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another occurrence of my acting out of type is over the weekend, when I should have been getting ahead on homework. However, having too much of it can be dangerous. The Jews for example, during World War II, they had too much hope, and they wound up dead. Allow me to expand. As I said before, optimism(hope) is the most powerful thing in the world, with the second being fear. However, having too much of it is very dangerous. Too much hope can cause people to have tunnel vision. Hope can restrict the ability to notice, or recognize the things that are going on around them. (Russian Revolution ). The October Revolution has also been called the Bolshevik Revolution since the Bolshevik Party played a crucial role in the revolution. The leader of the Bolshevik Party, Vladimir Leninwas a big supporter of Karl Marx. Another Marxist who leads this revolution was Leon Trotsky. In an article by the History.com Staff, Lenin had created an, almost, bloodless coup d Г©tat against the provisional government. ( Russian Revolution ). The Bolshevik revolution started when, Alexander Kerensky, rather than follow an order. On October 24th, Kerensky ordered troops that were loyal, to act against the Bolshevik. Both decided that the Soviets was going to be a useful instrument in the next revolution. They didn t want the Soviets to have all the power until they could control them. In the book, Rise and fall of Communism 2009, Archie Brown shows us that, On 12 October, according to the old calendar, Trotsky took command of the Military Revolutionary Committee of the Petrograd Soviet and on 25 October...the Bolsheviks seized power in Petrograd (Brown 51). Insurrection was to start, but there were complications with the date set. In the book, The History of the Russian Revolution 1960, Leon Trotsky says, At a session of the Petrograd Soviet on the 18th, Trotsky, in answer to a question raised by the enemy, declared that the Soviet had not set a date for an insurrection, in the coming days, but that if it became necessary to set one, the workers and soldiers would come out as one man (Trotsky 162). Slide one Land Ownership Starting off I would like to explain what life was like for the average Irish citizen in the mid 19th century. Most people were tenant agriculture farmers who worked for landlords, who owned vast estates, but a great deal of them didn t, in fact, live in Ireland, which lead to them being commonly referred to as absentee landlords. The landlords allotted workers small plots of land to grow their own food in exchange for working the land growing grain cash crops. In order to sustain a high calorie diet for themselves and their families, most of these tenant farmers grew potatoes. This was primarily due to the fact you get a lot of bang for your buck from potatoes as they yielded quite a bit of calories per acre. • 29. The Importance Of Environmental Justice In todays world, there are a fair share of groups with opposing viewpoints as well as mindsets, which often leads to conflict. Certainly the forestry world has had its fare share of people in power making decisions based on whats best for them finically or personally, and not what is best for the community and/or forest. Deep ecology includes a large majority of the same concepts in which they want to work towards the best interest of the forest and environment, and for the majority focus on the fact that humans are interfering with the forest to much as it is, and it needs to be changed (Naess, 264). Environmental justice focuses on how currently there is an elitist membership and narrow scope in the current conventional environmental practices and tries to work towards sustainability(Gottlieb 1993). When both of these collide they create what is knows as Wicked Problems , they go beyond scientific, economic, and techno rational analysis and methods of problem solving ( Nie 307). Hence is is difficult to know when said conflict has been solved, We use the term wicked in a meaning akin to that of malignant (in contrast to benign ) or vicious (like a circle) or tricky (like a leprechaun) or aggressive (like a lion, in contrast to the docility of a lamb) (Rittel and Webber 1973: p. 160) Recently there has been an increase in the amount of drivers in the modern environmental movement, some of which are resource scarcity, rise of outdoor recreation, changing ... There have been plenty of downright messed up storylines in Marvel s comics. One of the first big ones was Tony Stark s battle with alcoholism. Being someone as powerful as him while suffering from such a crippling illness was not taken lightly. He was arrogant, violent, careless, and worst of all self destructive. It put someone who is supposed to be admired and looked up to down in the gutter, somewhere you d never think a hero belongs. There s also the subject of Ant Man and his wife, The Wasp s story. It was years ago before let s say the last 10 years. Nowadays, we just have too many people with soft skin demanding that X Y and Z happen in comics because it hurts their feelings. It s caused Marvel to scramble and make weird decisions, the most important of which to me is the re branding of a character. I m mainly talking about Miles Morales and Lady Thor. To re skin a character with a different gender or race is not being legitimately influential to those groups, in my opinion. It s forcing something to happen to simply pander to people whining on the internet. There have already been successful and well written black and female characters in Marvel before. Luke Cage, Black Panther, Blade, Bishop of the X Men, She Hulk, Jean Grey, Storm, Invisible Woman, Scarlet Witch...all of these characters are very well developed and have all had major roles in various crossover events and within their own comics. It s not racist to say that it s stupid that there s a black spiderman. I mean when he was in the ultimates universe it made more sense because in the multiverse anything is possible, but now he exists side by side with Peter Parker. He even recently had a line in a comic where he literally said, I shit you not, I don t want to be known as the black spiderman . Well considering peter parker is alive and well...that s kind of all you are. You can t be just spiderman if the real original spiderman still exists. Makes no sense. As a result, it s kind of more insulting to me that they d even say that in the comic knowing damn well why he s known that way. Same thing goes for Lady Thor. They really had no good reason to make the power of Thor go to a woman, it was just the right thing to do for diversity! Except true diversity comes from writing someone new and interesting that captivates the audience and is also a woman. Not something Marvel hasn t done before, again. It s just insanely ... • 39. The Model Of Racial Equality In certainty, the model of racial equality has not always been performed, nor has it been fully accomplished in the world. This is because the acceptance in racial equality has been said to counter deeply rooted beliefs in racial inequality and political, legal, and customary practices of racial discrimination and oppression. Therefore, racial equality is stated in antiracist philosophy and in antiracist political mobilization. With this said, as citizens, are we still equal? The answer to that question is no . The world is living in Orwellian times where citizens are equal, but some citizens are more equal than others. While some agree, there are many groups that are pushing for reform and equality, such as Take Back Our Republic, By The People, and Common Cause: Holding Power Accountable. Now that the facts are said, we must ask how did we become so unequal? Over time, big corporations, racial groups, and corruption in government have been advocating inequality for the minority. Some people are filled with wrong ideas and beliefs that attack those in the minority group, especially people of color. Franklin said, almost from the beginning of their national history, people have been relentless, at times ruthless, in their pursuit of equality. Changing Perspective From Global Warming Offor 1 Chiamaka Offor Dr. Christopher Carney ENGL 1301 20 June 2016 Changing Perspective from Global Warming to Climate Change Global warming is one of the biggest problems facing the world today. Global warming is the rise in the earth s mean surface temperature due to increase of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, which affects life forms on the earth s surface. The scientific consensus as summarized by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is that the global average surface temperature has risen over the last century. Many scientists believe that global warming is caused mainly by the production of carbon dioxide (greenhouse gas) and any fabricated pollution without taking into account the natural factors. The earth is kept warm due to what is known as the greenhouse effect. Without it the earth would be frozen; the short wave length of ultraviolet radiation coming from the sun penetrates the atmosphere and is absorbed by the earth, which thereby warms the earth. These gases are known as greenhouse gases. The effects of global warming include increased temperature, rise in sea levels, increase in insects that spread disease and tropical storms. A greenhouse gas does not cause these effects.
