Mx5 Vs S14 When Drifting
Mx5 vs s14 when drifting Mazda miata mx5 1995 and nissan s14 1995 two great cars for drifting
but the hard thing is deciding what one to get or what one is better. Now let s start off with the
miata. Back in 1989 the mx5 made a debuted in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show. The MX 5 was
conceived as a small roadster with light weight and minimal mechanical complexity limited only
by legal and safety requirements, while being technologically modern and reliable. These cars
are slow in a straight line you can get a 1.6 or a 1.8 liter motor the 1.8 had 105 hp to the wheels but
the mx 5 was very light and handled well so if you had it on a mountain road it would dominate
you could also get a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As performance goes the mx5 is very light but not very powerful but when drifting a light
vehicle makes for less traction which is good for initiating a slide and maintaining is but doing a
long drift is hard to do and some come with lsd or a locking differential and you can get two
different motors for the mx5 a 1.6 liter and a 1.8 liter the hp difference is about 5hp not a lot but
it can help you some when drifting and the s14 is a heavier car but still handles good not as good
as the miata but it would beat the miata in a straight line any day a lot of s14s come with
mechanical locking differentials so both wheels turn not as good as a welded diff but it works
thee s14 is harder to drift in the small corner be cause the car has quite a bit longer wheelbase but
when going high speed and doing a long drift id does better and it can come with 3 different
types of motor the least powerful one ka24e a 4 cylinder motor with a single overhead cam and
the second one a ka24de the middle class 2 overhead cams 4 cyl and the sr20det this was the
best option for hp it had 4cyl and a turbo a lot of s14s had these put in for after market motors
great for drifting but for the motor a easy thing you can do is exhaust and intake for better flow
so the motor can run harder and you can do injectors which delivers more fuel to the motor the
two big things you can do to make lots of power is either rebuilding the motor to make more
power you can add a turbocharger which basically uses

Textual Codes Essay
Possibly one of the most prevalent codes in daily living all across the world is how people dress.
The cloth people choose to cover their bodies with on a day to day basis says a lot about the
individual and about that society. It can serve as a clue to what that person believes morally,
what part of the world they come from, and even a message they are trying to send. According to
Daniel Chandler in his book Semiotics: The Basics, Semioticians seek to identify codes and the
tacit rules and constraints which underlie the production and interpretation of meaning within each
code (Chandler 2007: 148). Chandler goes on to discuss three different types of codes within his
book consisting of social codes, textual codes, and interpretive codes. The variety of styles worn
across various cultures reveals something about the social codes. The textual codes can be seen in
how clothingis advertised, and what this means across the various cultures whether it serves to
individualize some or unite others plays... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
American Christian females while provided with a wide range of variety of clothing styles are
looked down upon if they caught showing too much skin. Typically, the more modest her clothing
is the better off she is, the idea is to help maintain purity and keep temptation away. To help modern
American Christians hold true to their modesty, they have adopted the popular slogan, modest is
hottest as an advertisement. The idea of Christian American female clothing is to be able to wear
the styles they want, but still remain modest in how they dress. Those who are found to be
wearing clothes of a more revealing nature are said to not be aligned with beliefs regarding
modesty and the Christian faith and could potentially be labeled as living in sin, as stipulated in

Figurative Language In The Jungle By Richard Connell
Richard Connell uses figurative language in the story to add richness and spark by using
metaphors and similes. Part of the American Culture is slang which is metaphors and similes. It
s just how we talk and communicate. Even in a story with a scary, mysterious type of mood we
can still have slang. I will explain some of the metaphors and similes throughout the story and
how they add the richness the story s needs. When Richard Connell quotes trying to peer through
the dank tropical night that was palpable as it pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht.
, he uses the key phrases such as pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht . This key
phrase is showing a detailed way to say that it was getting dark and into the night. But instead of
being unimaginative and dull, Connell describes the night so it s easy to imagine using a simile
that we can relate to.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s like moist black velvet. He is explaining how the view is; how he can t see that well because
it looks black and fuzzy like velvet. Instead of saying it s dark out can t see , he spices things up
a little and makes the sentence more relatable. On the second page of The Most Dangerous
Game, it quotes There was no breeze. The sea was as flat as a plate glass window. Richard
Connell uses the keyword as comparing two subjects which is using a simile. He is comparing
these objects to make the reader better understand what he is saying and what he is trying to

Nt131 Unit 3 Paper
All three of the policies are in some way a little bit different than the current system in place in
New York. Delaware uses a three tier system that allows the state and local government to share the
responsibility of making decisions regarding distribution. Tier 1 provides funding for the cost for
such things as teachers salaries and their benefits. In addition, this Tier determines the amount of
money needed per pupil, meaning that the number of students in the districtdetermines the amount
of funds that a district received. Tier II: this is the amount of money given to the district by the state
to cover such things as schools supplies, building maintenance and utilities. Tier III: this is the fund,
provided to the districts base on their pupil number, and this helps to equalize things between poor
and wealthy districts.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, poorer districts will receive a bigger share of Tier III funding to fill the gap for special
needs in their district and the amount given to wealthier district. Whereas in Indiana the state
government decides the distribution amount because the state is the biggest stakeholder and funder
in their policy. New Jersey has a system that is similar to New York where a formula is used to
determine the amount the district will receive and district makes up the rest. New Jersey funding
policy works by using the SFRA formula to determine the base cost per pupil in order to meet their
basic educational needs. The formula is used to calculate the extra funds needed for such things as
special needs and Limited English proficient (LEP). The state uses the School Funding Reform Act
(SFRA) to come up with the amount they will put and then the used that number to figure out how
much the local district will have to contribute to their educational

Recommendations for Making Shiver by Karen Robards a Movie...
Shiver by Karen Robards is the book I picked for this quarter s SSR. I picked the book because, at
first glance, the cover was interesting. So, judging a book by it s cover, I picked it up. When
reading the brief summary on the inside cover I decided I wanted to read it. There wasn t much to
it, really. I ve never read anything by this author before so I had no idea what to expect.
The book was about Samantha Jones and her son Tyler, and about how they were pulled into the
most dangerous situation of their lives. Danny, or Marco to Sam, was the one who pulled them
into it. He is a member of the FBI, going undercover as a former member of the FBI, one who was
in witness protection program and had stolen from and betrayed those he ... Show more content on

I would also take out the part of the book between Sam and Danny that wouldn t be very good for
children, so that more people can watch the movie. There s a lot more, but too many for right now.
Samantha Jones has long black hair and dark blue eyes, and pale skin. She s also very pretty, as
many male characters in the book have said about her. Sam is really stubborn, protective, and
mature. Not to mention snarky, she has been very rude to Danny because she believe he s a
dangerous criminal. Danny is more loose, he likes to be... not stuck up. He jokes a lot and calls
Sam Baby Doll all of the time. He has brown hair and tan skin, as he was described in the book, he
has a worked out body.
Tyler is just adorable, the way I picture him. Hair and eyes matching his mothers he is playful
and smart. He listens to his mother and knows what to do in case of an emergency, he is always
very happy and high spirited. Samantha would be played by Jennifer Connelly because her dark
hair colour is almost the same as I pictured Sam s. Though her eye colour is blue in the book and
Jennifer s is green, it could be fixed by coloured contacts. I didn t find many actresses that were
close to my version of Samantha. Danny, however, was a little easier to pic for.
I already knew who I wanted to choose to play him because I pictured this actor as him while

The First Day Of English Class
I look the first debate judge in the eyes and he nods. Then my gaze drifts to the second one and
she smiles. Finally I look to my right at my final judge, he simply winks at me. I close my eyes
and count to three. It s finally time to begin; this is my time. These next three minutes everyone has
to listen to me and my opinion. I open my mouth, but the only thought going through my head is,
why? Why am I doing this? Why am I here? Why did I make this mistake?
It was the first day of English class and the teacher asked, who here has ever given a class
presentation before? I looked around hoping, praying, that someone else is like me. However
fate was not on my side. Every hand in the class was proudly raised high and I was all alone on my
little island of fear. The teacher looked directly at me and asked why I had not ever done a
presentation. I m a clicker, I mumbled, it was barely audible but the teacher heard it and his face
softened. Well Mr. Peschansky it s time you become a talker.
A psychological study done in the early 70 s found that people are more afraid of public speaking
then of death. Standing at the front of the room in my first debate tournament I realize just how
true that is. All I can hear is my heart hammering away in my chest, my legs feel like they are
going to give and I m shaking all over.
I never opened my mouth when I was in grade school. I was the kid that was always reading. If
my head was not buried in a book then something was probably

Technology Has A Growing Influence On Home Life, The...
Technology has been a growing influence in home life, the business world, and now education.
Many schools use technology to enhance student learning. Administrators have bought
technological devices and tools such as; digital cameras, SMART boards, laptops computers,
projectors, and course software to support curriculum, all in the hopes of improving student
achievement and motivation. However, the technology tools themselves should not be the focus.
Technology cannot take place of the teacher; it is a tool that the educator uses to enhance the
student s understanding and should be used as supplemental and to complement the educator s
lessons. Bassett recognized that the technological age should not be about technology alone, rather
it should be about what the teacher and the students are doing with the technology to further
understanding and engagement with the lesson (2005, p. 77). Technology tools are becoming
readily available for teachers and students. Today technology is more available then ever. Honey
(2005) sites the National Center of EducationStatistics, in saying that public schools have made
consistent progress in expanding Internet access in classrooms. Having these technological tools
and access available allow it easy for teachers to put into practice student centered learning.
Researchers, Neo and Kian study has proved that the use of technology had greatly effected the
student s learning process and widen the depth of learning skills and knowledge.

Commentary On Nature Shock, By Ashley Merryman
Ashley Merryman, co author of Nature Shock, (NY Times, Oct. 6, 2016) in Forget Trophies, Let
Kids Know It s O.K. to Lose argues that there is nothing wrong with losing because failure can
actually be helpful. I passionately agree with this. Marryman begins by stating the negative
outcome of children always earning trophies despite of their participation or accomplishment in
which it is teaching children that losing is so terrible. She states that this it is as destructive
message. She believes that children look up to their parents aspect on defeats and achievements
and cites evidence from a study to prove her point. She also claims that the main way for children
to succeed is to acknowledge their mistakes. She argues that it is... Show more content on

John Dickinson, a founding father, drafted a copy called The Articles of Confederation and proposed
it to the Continental Congress in Philadelphia. The document was put in use for a while, but it
lacked certain powers such as a strong national government and the permission to tax. It failed. The
founding fathers, who paid close attention to these errors, fixed it by creating the U.S. Constitution.
It is an outstanding document with government principles that still stand up until this moment. At
first, the founding fathers failed at creating a self governing document; however, they, being aware
of their mistakes, succeeded by drafting another successful document. This concludes that
visualizing and experiencing one s problems can lead to triumph. I personally can relate to this
statement. For example, I participate in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) event called
Calculator Applications. I remember the first time I attended a meet and did my calculator test on a
Saturday morning. It was a thirty minute test with seventy questions. I patiently waited for my
test score in the school s cafeteria after the test administrators had released us from the test area.
Three or four hours had passed, and Mr. Pesina, my UIL math coach, handed me my test back with
a slightly embarrassed, disappointed look. As soon as I glanced at it, a huge twenty two stood out
apart from the test directions. I was extremely

Building A Computer And The Computer
Building a computer
When people hear that some people build their own computer, they automatically decide that it
must be some very challenging task that requires a wizard of all things electronic. I will
demonstrate otherwise, by starting with what parts to purchase for a good computer tailored to
what is being planned on being done with it. Be it playing games, video editing, or just simple
internet browsing. Moving onward to an almost as essential step as putting it together: what tools
are going to be needed before we begin the actual assembly process. As one can most likely
deduce it does not matter how much is spent or what parts are purchased; if the tools to assemble it
are not gathered, getting nowhere is all that is going to get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The CPU or central processing unit is what executes the programs. It is also where a majority of
the money that is spent is going. Next, we are going to procure a motherboard which, in a sense,
connects a majority of the other components together so that they can work together. RAM
(random access memory) is next on the list. Whatever data is in operation at the time is going to
be stored on the RAM so that it can be quickly accessed. The amount one gets should be decided
on what is being planned on doing with it if just browsing two to four gigabytes if fine, but if
editing or coding is planned eight or more should be purchased. A power supply is, as you can
probably deduce, what powers the computer itself. Think about this: what happens if you try to
start a car with no battery? Well, the same thing is going to happen to a computer should we
have decided it was a bright idea not to get one or install it. Now, how are we going to plan to fit
all the cool things that are going to be downloaded once we get the computer up and running? By
getting a hard drive. It is where all of the crucial data is going to be stored. We are going to put all
of this in whichever computer case that the user has chosen. These are all the parts necessary for an
average browsing and minimal intensive program build.
Although, should one decide that a gaming or very intensive computer is necessary a few extra
parts can and should be purchased. For example: a

Before the 1960 s during the postwar era, there was little crime and the United States crime rate
was fairly low. During the early 1960 s, the crime rate accelerated tremendously. During the 1970 s
the crime rate remained high, and was constant. Finally during the 1990 s, the United States finally

own reasons for committing crimes, but mentally ill individuals sometimes unknowingly, commit
crimes or acts of violence. The reasons and purpose of the research is to identify the most

People are so interested in their sports performance. Anabolic steroids work by helping the body s
muscle cells produce more protein, which as long as the athletes works out, leads to increased
muscle size and strength and, at the same time, also allows the body to produce more ATP, the fuel
muscles need to move. (Horwitz). Testosterone is a naturally occurring steroid hormone that not
only promotes bone density and muscle growth, but also produces sperm in the testes. ... Perhaps
the biggest myth is that choosing testosterone replacement therapy to increase testosterone levels
will produce exactly the same side effects as abusing steroids. (What s the Difference...). Athletes
are always interested in looking good for the crowd and they think they have to look good.
Athletes use drugs for therapeutic and recreational purposes, as supposed ergogenic aids, and to

Theme Of The Word Love And Arranged Marriage
Another area of similarity is the theme of love being explored exhaustively. There are different
dimensions of love in the two stories. In The Word Love and Arranged Marriage, We only have
each other she often told her. (Banerjee 58) This suggests that there is a pure demonstration of
compassion and maternal lovedisplayed by the lady s mother towards her. The writer perfectly
captured how she never remarried and dedicated her life to raising her despite the fact that her
husband died two months after her birth. The passionate love that existed between the lady and her
foreign lover is noticeable. Though she is overwhelmed by the impending consequence of her
relationship which is antithetical to the Calcutta s marriagerite (There has not been rain for a long
time.) I am cherished. (Banerjee 61). This suggests how intense and profound her love is to the
guy; she feels she is blessed. She found it difficult to separate and work away. In fact, at a time,
she almost forgot about the issue of arranged marriage. In the same vein, the theme of love is
depicted in Silver Pavements... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There seems to be a clash of culture. In the first story, the foreign lover can t understand why the
mother would oppose their relationship. To him, it is just absurd. There is a clash of the culture
here because, in Calcutta, Marriage is usually arranged between couples sometimes without their
knowledge like the case of the lady s mother who got to know her husband on the wedding day. In
Silver Pavement and Golden Roof, the theme of culture clash is also artistically explored. First,
public drinking is not frequent in Calcutta. Secondly, people calling themselves bad names are
uncommon in Calcutta, and lastly, people attacking foreigners does not exist in Calcutta. For the
lady, all of this put together come as one rude shock which later degenerated to disillusionment and
feelings of nostalgia to the

Should Contact Sports Be Banned Essay
Jenna Gregory Mrs. King ELA 6th Hour 07 April 2017 Contact Sports Contact sports are very
healthy for the human body, this is because of all the physical activity that is taking place. Not
only are contact sports healthy physically but they are also healthy mentally. Contact sports should
not be banned from schools because they relieve stress and anger. My first reason that contact
sports should not be banned is because a lot of people love playing and being a part of this sort of
activity. Other reasons are that they want to be active and healthy. According to Brian Cammarota,

but so does their health. They will stay active, strong, and healthy. To go along with all of this, an
anonymous author from the article Why parents should push their kids to play in team sports
states, One of the good things about sports is that many bad things will happen. Games will be

Of Mice and Men Importance of Friendship George and Lennie
Of Mice and Men has many themes presented by Steinbeck, one of which is about friendship. The
novella shows the relationship between the protagonists, George and Lennie, and showing how they
try to achieve the American Dream by working together. This is in contrast to many of the other
characters who are alone by themselves which seems to be the norm at the time of the Great
Depression. The reader is able to look at how the need to have a companion is portrayed by
Steinbeck, especially during the harsh economic times that the story is set in.
The reliance that George and Lennie have on one another is able to emphasise on how it is only
the friendship between the two of them which allows them to survive. Lennie saying I got you to

Although most of the men have no true friends, they at least get to play cards and associate with
others. Lennie, because of the colour of his skin and his friendship with George, cannot possibly
understand Crooks plight. George chooses to kill Lennie at the novel s end, realizing that Lennie
could not stand the loneliness of being locked up in a prison or an asylum. This is also able to
highlight the true friendship which is separated at the end which also brings an end to the novella.
Thus the need for companionship, which is shown by other characters that are victimised within
society, is emphasised as other strive for what George and Lennie have.
Throughout the book Steinbeck uses many characters to emphasize a message which he wants
to get across to the reader. This is how the importance of being able to share a friend was vital
during the 1930 s as it was the time of the Depression era and everyone always needed someone
else to be with. This is what makes the true friendship between George and Lennie a key component

Robert Schumann Essay
Robert Alexander Schumann was born in the small riverside town of
Zwickau, Saxony, in 1810.The youngest of five children, Robert Schumann was brought up in
comfortable, middle class respectability. As a child, he apparently exhibited no remarkable abilities.
At the age of six, Robert was sent to the local preparatory school, run by Archdeacon Dohner. He
had in fact already begun his education, with the young tutor who gave lessons in exchange for
board and lodging at the
Schumann home.
At the age of seven Robert received his first piano lessons, from
Johann Gottfried Kuntzsch, organist at St. Mary s Church, and schoolmaster at the Zwickau
Lyceum. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After secret discussions, the engagement was broken off by mutual agreement. Possibly
Robert had been kept in the dark about Ernestine s origins.
In any event, the affair had a catalytic effect on Robert s music. He had the idea of writing a
series of piano pieces based on the letters ASCH; these he later turned into Carnival. He also
composed some piano variations on a theme provided by Baron von Fricken.
But Robert s friend Schunke had fallen seriously ill. Unable to bear the sight, Robert went back to
Zwickau again, only returning to Leipzig in
December to negotiate a change of publisher for the Zeitschrift. From the beginning of 1835 the
journal was published by the Leipzig firm of JA Barth.
Late in 1835 Mendelsson arrived in Leipzig to take over as music director of the Gewandhaus. Still
only twenty six, Mendelsson was the director of the age, and Schumann felt an immediate attraction
when they met at Wieck s house. Following the newcomer s debut in Leipzig, Schumann wrote
praising him in the quot;Letters of an Enthusiast quot; column of his Zeitzcrift.
Schumann did however venture to criticise Mendelssohn s use of the baton; he believed that an
orchestra should function as a quot;republic quot; and that ridgity should be avoided. At about this
time, too, Robert met both

Beowulf Christian Or Pagan Essay
Is Beowulf a Christian or Pagan Hero? Throughout the story of Beowulf, the great warrior does
many things for many reasons. The question is, does he do these things as a Christian hero with
god in mind, or does he do it as a Pagan hero, for fame and wealth. In the epic, Beowulf battles
against three noteworthy monsters that had their fights detailed in more than a passing mention
such as the many battles and wars that he fought in. These three monsters are Grendel, Grendel s
mother, who was not named, and the Dragon. Beowulf, when contrasted with these Pagan monsters,
appears Christian. However, the first question we must ask is are the monsters Pagan? To answer

Grendel is described as Like a man but mightier than any man. (55) From this, we can assume
that he has a humanoid shape, walks on two legs, has two arms, a head, and a torso, but is taller,
stronger, and mightier than any normal man. He is not described in the text physically, but by
the traits and qualities that he exhibits. One such quote says that he is bearing God s hatred, (30)
and believed in his own strength, not the strength of God, whose love Grendel could not know.
(10) From these two quotes alone, we can infer that Grendel is definitely not Christian, as he does
not have faith in God s strength or help. From other quotes, we can further prove that he is Pagan
by using examples of several Pagan qualities that Grendel shows. From the quotes So set on
murder, (8) and alone, bloodthirsty, and horrible (9) we can see that he is quite bloodthirsty and
murderous, both of which are more Pagan than Christian qualities. Through this information,
Grendel exhibits the Pagan qualities of not believing in the strength of god, but instead believing in
one s own strength. He also lusts after blood, and lives for himself making him a Pagan

College Essay About Tulane
New Orleans is a city that has always been immensely fascinating to me. I love that every street
corner is teeming with culture and excitement. I have been visiting New Orleans ever since I
was a young child and I love it. The energy of the city is so uplifting and inspiring. Earlier this
year when I first learned about Tulane, I was ecstatic and couldn t wait to apply. My hometown
of Austin, Texas is also a city filled to the brim with life and culture, but it is so different from
New Orleans. Attending Tulane would be a major challenge for me but one that I would be
extremely willing to take on. I would be exposed to so many new things and would be forced to
step out of my comfort zone. It would be a thrilling opportunity to live in such a unique city
during a time when I am exploring who I am. I particularly love how Tulane incorporates the local
culture into school activities. The crawfish boils and Mardi Gras traditions are things that I have
not been exposed to in Texas, and I would be excited to experience them at Tulane.

Analysis Of Seafarming At The End Of The World By Peter...
It was Mihaljo Mesarovic, the author of Mankind at the Turning Point , who once said The Earth
has cancer and the cancer is man . He was definitely onto something. In fact, humans have had a
major negative impact on the world s marine environment. Throughout recent human history, it has
been obvious that the wellbeing of the marine environment has been in jeopardy. Pollution of the
ocean, overfishing and the greenhouse gases these are all the aspects that can cause the destroying
of the precious environments, such as reefs, sea grass and coastal habitats. According to the essay
and interview Seafarming at the End of the World , written by Peter Meehan, he presents the fact
that human impact on the ocean is the main reason that causes the awful situation of marine
ecosystem and organisms. Although the ocean covers approximately two thirds of the Earth s
surface, it is surprisingly susceptible to human influences. The effects of rubbish dumping have
tainted our oceans and they have taken their toll on the vast marine environments and the
populations in which they contain. Rubbish dumping involves depositing all the waste materials
from factories and industries, tankers and ships and sewerage waste materials into the oceans and
seas. In the report Causes and Effects of Ocean Dumping , the author Sharda states that The wastes
that are dumped into the oceans tend to have toxic substances which soak in all the oceanic
oxygen. This leads to a marked depletion of oxygen

The dispersal of discipline in the UK via Anti Social Behaviour legislation In recent years the
Criminal Justice System has argued to reduce the prison population by incorporating punishment in
the community through use of anti social behaviour legislation (Gibbs, 2009). Behaviour once not
suitable for criminalisation has been dubbed anti social that may cause harassment, alarm or
distress (Home Office, 2003) which requires a form of punitive focus to prohibit risk to society,
however the definition is largely contested as being ambiguous (Doolin Child, 2011). Since the

Donald Kettl s The Next Government Of The United States
Donald Kettl presents many controversial ideas in his book The Next Government of the United
States. While some of the ideas Kettl provides many be disagreed upon by some he gives
excellent validation for reasoning. Two ideas that I believe are well worth discussing are the
Mildred Paradox that correlates with the Mildred Corollary and the irresponsible governance
provided by the federal government. Each of these ideas brings about aspects that should be
considered by citizens when thinking of the U.S. government. Kettl s ideas are important in
considering what the government does and does not do for citizens: consequently, some may or
may not trust the United States government, and Kettl is providing reasoning behind the distrust.
Kettl uses the negligence and disconnection of the government to the citizens to provide reasoning
for why our government is failing us. The Mildred Paradox pertains to the United States
government paying for services provided to citizens, but is not the provider of the actual service.
The services that the government is paying for are outsourced to other companies. The government
is not properly controlling or even involving themselves in these services, therefore, things can slip
through the cracks without being noticed; correspondingly, things may be overlooked for the sake
of the company providing the service. Kettl argues that the exposure to such issues is growing in
our system. Medicare and Medicaid provide money to people who need it,

John Stuart Mill s Philosophy of Happiness Essay
John Stuart Mill s Philosophy of Happiness
Along with other noted philosophers, John Stuart Mill developed the nineteenth century philosophy
known as Utilitarianism the contention that man should judge everything in life based upon its
ability to promote the greatest individual happiness. While Bentham, in particular, is acknowledged
as the philosophy s founder, it was Mill who justified the axiom through reason. He maintained that
because human beings are endowed with the ability for conscious thought, they are not merely
satisfied with physical pleasures; humans strive to achieve pleasures of the mind as well. Once
man has ascended to this high intellectual level, he desires to stay there, never descending to the
lower level of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Utilitarianism, Mill noted, utility includes not solely the pursuit of happiness, but the prevention
or mitigation of unhappiness (Mill 12).
The pursuit of pleasure has also been condemned by critics as being little more than the
promotion of one s own interests, with no regard to the happiness of others. Mill disputes this as
being narrow minded, clarifying that the pleasure principle which forms the foundation for
utilitarianism, what is right in conduct, is not the agent s own happiness, but that of all
concerned (Mill 16). With this acknowledgment, however, comes the criticism that people cannot
possibly be motivated by something as satisfying the collective good of society. Mill countered
this by pointing out, The utilitarian morality does recognize in human beings the power of
sacrificing their own greatest good for the good of others (Mill 16). To the objection that pleasure
is an acceptable end is contrary to Christian principles because it is godless, Mill states, If it be a
true belief that God desires, above all things, the happiness of his creatures, and that this was his
purpose in their creation, utility is not only not a godless doctrine, but more profoundly religious
than any other (Mill 21).
Mill s pleasure principle was disputed by both philosophers and theologians because of its apparent
lack of association to a code of morality. To this, Mill contended that there can

The goal of this program was to reduce the level of nitrogen and phosphorous flowing to the Bay
by 40% by the year 2000, from their 1985 levels (Blankenship 2). The first step in this program
was to reduce the amount of nutrient pollution from point sources (end of the pipe) such as
wastewater treatment facilities that feed into the many tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay (The
Chesapeake Bay Watershed 1). However, the results of these cleanup efforts were not enough to
reach the goal of the program. Therefore, the areas involved now had to target the non point
sources of nitrogen and phosphorous. The non point sources are storm water run off from
agricultural and developed sites, air pollution, and the development of sensitive forests that act as
buffers for tributaries and the Bay (1). The Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act of 1989 took aim at
these sources in Tidewater Virginiaby requiring resource management practices in the use and

Free College Should Not Be Free
When a child turns 5, they are required to start going to school until they turn 18, which is when
they graduate high school. From the point of graduating high school, there is a pressure on
students to go to college and get a degree. This is relevant today because most graduates from high
school go to straight collegeto get the career they strive for. Colleges should be free because it
causes more focus on education, most careers require a college degree and provide new
opportunities for children.
College should not be free all because taxes would go through the roof and would create a
vicious cycle of fighting for careers between people. With making college free for everyone, ...
taxes will go up and all property owners whether they have college age children or not will, in

Impact of OPEC s Oil Pricing on the Petroleum Market
Energy resources are essential for national security, technological development, overall
contemporary life style, etc. In this respect, oil is the main source for worldwide economy. Peak oil
would imbalance countries economical situations and may lead to a chain reaction with negative
effects on multiple layers. Evidently, there is mutual interest to prevent such a thing from
happening but the possibility is nevertheless considered. OPECs initial goal to ensure stable prices
on petroleummarkets in order to avoid any negative fluctuations did not always correspond. The
organization actually favored inflation more than in one occasion but its influence in
controlling oil prices dropped considerably since 1973. It was proven that, having quadrupled the
price of oil, OPEC had in its hands the power to inflict economic hurt on the rich countries.
(Beenstock 2007, p. 134) Although OPEC does not completely control the oil market today, it
nevertheless continues to be influent because its decisions to reduce production may lead to
either a decrease or increase of oil prices. OPEC s existence is dependent on the future of oil.
Whether or not oil will dominate as the main energetic source for worldwide economy will decide
its future. Considering that OPEC s oil has been a vital source of energy during the last half of
century, (Khusanjanova 2011, p. 19) and that oil is expected to play a similar role within the next
century, we can assume the organization will at least maintain its

Standard 1: Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning:
Engaging and supporting student learning has developed into an area of strength for me. What I
have witnessed first hand is that by moving through the general education curriculum you can
embed skills predicated on each student s current level of instruction. You use the general education
curriculum as a backdrop and then adapt and modify the curriculum to suit each student s needs. It
sounds like it s not possible when you actually hear it in a credential program. It s not until you
actually start becoming familiar with each student and their needs that it becomes clearer as to
what to do. For example, we did a series of lessons about integers which is actually a sixth ... Show

I often rewarded students with tokens for going above and beyond in helping their classmates. I
want to inspire them to be not just good students, but even better people!
The impetus for this realization came about as the subject of SBAC and Cal. Alt. testing was
broached in a staff meeting in the winter. We were given booklets that contained questions that
were old or similar questions to those that had appeared before on the test. I used these booklets
as a planner for my winter/spring instruction guide. I went through the booklets with the class
doing the problems. As we approached each problem, if it was a subject we had not yet covered
or discussed, I would break it down and build a lesson around it. It was quite beneficial as we
were now working on things that they would ultimately see on their respective tests. They were
doing exactly what their general education peers were doing. The difference being that rather than
glancing over the material, I was using the material as a base and then adapting and modifying it
based on each student s needs.
This was really helpful as when each of the students took their respective tests, they had a fighting
chance. I administered the Cal. Alt. to some of my class, and while they didn t get all the answers
correct, they got quite a few right. There was nothing more rewarding than seeing questions arise on

The main importance of this group was essentially being one of the first Aboriginal political
organizations to form to take action against state and federal legislation in Australia.
During the 1920 s and 1930 s Australia began to see a rise in political activism among the
Aboriginal people. During this time period Australia saw Aboriginal political organizations being
founded in New South Wales, Western Australia, Victoria, and South Australia: the AAPA, The
Native Union, the AAL, the Australian Aborigines Association (AAA), the Euralian Association,
and the Aborigines Progressive Association (APA) (Attwood, 1999). All of these political
organizations fought for similar rights for aboriginal people, but they were all fought on local
levels. The two organizations that were somewhat successful at becoming national organizations
and representing Aborigines throughout Australia were the Australian Aborigines League and the
Aborigines Progressive Association. Both groups fought for similar causes. These two groups
although advocating for policy change in different regions of Australia worked together and

local organization was set in how the members viewed the role of the League. Arthur Burdeu

Airedale Terrier Essay
AIREDALE TERRIER
Maxeen Hobson History
The Airedale Terrier (often shortened to Airedale ) was developed by the workingmen from the
Aire valley of Yorkshire in England. These men spent time hunting along the river valleys of the
area and wanted a dog that could run with the hunters, was obedient to their masters, courageous
and versatile and then return home at night as a companion to their families.
The workmen of the day, not being well off, appreciated that the Airedale was not a greedy eater
and only needed a nutritious meal to support their growth and maintain the dog s substance. It is
generally accepted that the dogs produced by breeding, using the Black and Tan Terrierand the

the tenacity commonly seen in terriers, the Airedale is a formidable opponent. With the above
keen sences, the Airedale has been known to excel in obedience, agility. However, the Airedale
can often be difficult to train. Being a highly intelligent and a quick learner, he is often stubborn
and unforgiving of harsh treatment. Because of the Airedale s hound ancestry, he has
extraordinary hunting abilities with the capability to scent game and it has been used extensively
in countries such as Canada, Africa and the USA. Because of its size it is able to tackle larger
animals such as mountain lions, boar and bear to woodchuck on New England farms. It could be

Compare And Contrast Archetypal Journey In As I Lay Dying
Jackie Larremore
Mr. Rosenast
AP Literature and Composition
15 December 2014
Archetypal Journey As I Lay Dying and Little Miss Sunshine are two stories about a family s
journey and the setback they face along the way. The type of journey the families endure follows
the path of rising and then falling that occur throughout their time together. Little Miss Sunshine is
an effective contemporary version of the archetypal journey when compared to As I Lay Dying
because of the similar archetypal events, characters and symbolism. The events in Little Miss
Sunshine allow the story to be an effective archetypal journey because each event adds more to the
plot, and the plot allows the story to unfold into the archetypal journey they endure. The ... Show

In As I Lay Dying, the Bundren family uses a wagon to get to Jefferson, but the wagon proves to
be a symbol of the family s dysfunction. During the wagon ride Jewel refuses to sit with the
family in the wagon and rides his horse a mile further then the rest of the family (Faulkner 108).
The wagon proves to be a symbol of dysfunction because the family can work together as a whole
or even come together as a whole. The mechanic tells the family that You get enough people you
just get behind there and push. Just push it up to ten, fifteen miles and hour, and you just go.
Everybody jump inside, and you just go! (Arndt 37). Shortly after, the family works together to
get the bus moving and their journey continues. The VW bus in Little Miss Sunshine shows to
be the family s connection to one another and allows the family to come together and work as a
whole. This bus is a symbol of the family s function as a whole, but also represent the family s
individual problems because each person in the car is going through their own battle, Olive
winning the pageant, Dwayne trying to get to flight school, Richard trying to make a business deal
and Frank trying to get over a past lover. There are many incidents in Little Miss Sunshine when
the literary device foreshadowing is used. For example, when the car breaks down early on, the
family should have used that as a sign that this is just the beginning of the problems that they will
face throughout the journey. Similarly, in As I Lay Dying the Bundrens had many signs that
foreshadowed into the horrible journey that they faced. For

Rhetorical Analysis Of Air Bud
The first word is pathos, this is an emotional appeal used to persuade and convince audience by
their emotional feelings. In this movie, this appeal has been used widely. When Josh loses his
father, he is saddened and depressed to the extent that he assimilates himself during Basketball
training sessions. The situation is worsened when the owner of the dog, Norm, repossesses it.
Although the dog was rightfully Norm s, the audiencewould be persuaded to side with Josh when
he sneaks into Norm s residence and steals the dog (Ebert). This is further backed by the fact that
the audience is already aware of the cruelty of Norm. To the audience s expectations, Buddy
further chooses Josh as it owner. I do believe this is the best end.
The second word is the ethos. This is an appeal that is used to convince the audience of the
credibility of a character or movie. It entails choosing of proper vocabulary, topic or theme to be
featured in such contexts. In this movie, Air bud , the audience is presented with a dog that
perfectly plays Basketball. In fact, Buddy makes twelve shots without missing a single one in the
entire movie. Honestly, this is a skill that even the professional players would envy. This skill by
the dog therefore creates its worthiness in the school basketball team, something the audience
would agree with. It is important to note that in the absence of the dog, the school team is losing
terribly. It s not a wonder therefore that Buddy leads the team to win

Jump Shot Revolution
Basketball s Jump Shot Revolution In the article Basketball s Jump Shot Revolution, the writer
Shawn Fury displays the main differences of when the jump shot was invented and what it has
become today. As stated in the opening paragraph it is mentioned that the jump shot has developed
into what many younger players cannot accomplish and that is a jump shot from long distance.
The beginning of the jump shot was intended to rise above the defender to release the ball where
no player can block, but as time went on the jump shot has become a long range toss up where
there is no defender believing there is even a shot to block. There have been many alterations to the
jump shot over the years, but a few that were mentioned throughout the article

Synthesizing Triphenylmethanol Using A Grignard Reagent
The objective of this experiment is to synthesize triphenylmethanol using a Grignard reagent. A
Grignard reagent is a carbon magnesium halide, where the carbon acts as a nucleophile. As shown
in Mechanism 1, it is formed by reacting an alkyl halide, in this case a bromide (bromobenzene),
with magnesium metal in anhydrous ether. During the preparation of the Grignard reaction,
another by product, biphenyl, will be formed; this is caused from the rapid addition of
bromobenzene to the Grignard reagent solution. However, the by product will later be removed
with petroleum ether. It is also important to have no traces of water as the Grignard reagent is very
reactive with water. A reaction between the Grignard reagent and water will result in an

Disadvantages And Disadvantage Of Technology
Nowadays, technology takes over the world as penetrate through human life. The biggest effects
would be teenagers as they use technology more often. The technology impacts the family
environment, social relationships with people; health of people that do not have rational use of
technology, creativity, and focus.
The first reason will cause lack of communication with the people as electronic devices had replaced
the existence of human relationship bond. It caused teenagers to be isolated at home as they feel
like on the phone, as to an example, they can hear each other through a group chat. So, there is no
need a gathering event be created. When technology had become advanced, there are machines
created like treadmill and jogging bicycle. This allows the teenagers to become lazy to go out and
instead they exercise at home. On the other hand, it causes less interaction with people. Nowadays,
most of the parents are busy with their work and buying teenagers video games. This type of
devices helps the teenagers to have the feeling that their parents still care about them, but this
actually pulls the distance away between them. Their parents actually neglect them, and this causes
them to consume more time on playing the game. The times spending with family are lesser than
the time of playing games.
Besides that, technology is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In-Stadium Business Analysis
Incentives for fans to attend live sporting events have arguably never been lower than they are
today. Ever rising ticket prices, coupled with the increased affordability of high quality home
televisions, have led many fans to choose to root for their team from the confines of their own
home. Owners and leagues, recognizing that fans now have less incentive to buy tickets than in
year s past, are now trying to make changes to their in stadiumproduct to ensure that the present day
apathy of fans doesn t parlay into a loss of profits in the future. Among the changes being made to
strengthen the in stadium experience are enhanced smart phone integration into gameday activities
and partnerships with fantasy sports websites. When you take into... Show more content on

Given how crucial these changes are to the industry s continued prosperity, all options must be
examine thoroughly as this is a decision that they can t afford to botch. In a blog post Clinton
Bonner, a senior manager in marketing for Appirio, suggested that the utilization of Google
Glass esque technology within the stadium would be the way to go. Bonner suggests that fans
would be able to view instant replay, check their fantasy teams, and see the game from the point
of view of other seats within the stadium, using this technology. Others, as suggested in Morgan
Lathrop and Mark Cuban s respective blogs, are more skeptical of further utilization of gadgets
and gizmos. They speculate that these technologies may actually incentivize fans not to attend
games. They don t think a rational consumer would spend their hard earned money on tickets,
only to do what they could do on their own couch: use their phone. The key to them is to give
fans a reason to buy tickets by giving them reason not to look down at their phone. They believe
that a fan s experience at a game should be similar to that of a family wedding that is a lot of fun

Anne Frank Reflection
The Holocaust was a horrific event in human history that took place in the early 1930s through
the mid 1940s. This was when millions of Jews and other people who were thought to be a race
and were sent to concentration camps by those who refer to as evil people. Although many
people thought this, one girl, Anne Frank, who was a Jewish girl in hiding, said this: In spite of
everything, I still believe people are really good at heart. Regarding all of the hate and struggles
Anne and her family faced, she still saw good in everyone and everything that happened. After
reading the playbased on Anne s real diary she kept while in hiding, I have to agree with her
famous quote. One of the main reasons I agree with Anne is because of the empathy Mr. Frank
showed for her daughter when times were scary. Now, I do understand that all arguments have two
sides and that there are some who don t agree with me, according to Mr. Van Daan s selfishness
and greed.
Now, I m sure some of you are saying that there are more acts of kindness throughout the play, and I
agree with you, but what convinced me to side with Anne and her thought is when her father, Mr.
Frank, attended to her needs after a nightmare she had. On page 64, the following dialogue takes
place:
Mr. Frank: I want you to take this pill.
Anne: What is it?
Mr. Frank: Something to quiet you. ... Do you want me to read to you for a while?
During this scene, the Van Daan s, the Frank s and Mr. Dussel had gone to bed for the night.
Everyone was sleeping peacefully until Anne started screaming from a terrible nightmare. She
accidentally woke everyone else up with her screaming, and her father decided to take care of
Anne and let everyone else go back to sleep. Unlike Mr. Van Daan, Mr. Frank, or Anne s father,
showed that he has empathy for his daughter and would do anything to make sure that she was
okay. And by asking if she wanted him to read to her really showed that he really cared about her.
His act not only shows empathy for Anne, but that he s there for her when she needs him and that
he doesn t just care about himself, but about others. And by doing so, Mr. Frank stayed with her
until she fell asleep. He was doing what any father should do.
Now, just because I

Comparing The Real Inspector Hound And Deathtrap
In both The Real Inspector Hound and Deathtrap, the authors Tom Stoppard and Iva Levin,
respectively, use the play within a play to enhance the idea of reality as well as to suggest the
power of illusion over reality. In Tom Stoppard s The Real Inspector Hound, the two narratives
become entangled and nearly impossible to separate. The playbegins with two distinct narrative
arcs: the action at Muldoon manor, the play within a play, and the two theater critics, Moon and
Birdboot, watching the play. However by the end of the play, Moon and Birdboot are literally
caught up in the drawing room murder mystery that they are supposed to be reviewing. Made to
function within two structural units, the characters acquire one identity in the outer play their real
identities and another in the inner play. However, the distinction between the identities, and, even,
between the plays,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In it s entirety, Deathtrap is an illusion in which Clifford Anderson s play, like the actual play
itself, is entitled Deathtrap, and is also a one set, five character thriller. However, unlike a
traditional play, Myra is the sole audience member to Sidney Bruhl and Clifford Anderson s
performance. Myra is convinced of a reality where Bruhl is willing to kill Anderson in order to
steal his script. But when Anderson seemingly rises from the dead and apparently beats Bruhl to
death, Myra, shocked and terrified, drops dead of a heart attack. At this moment, Anderson
declares that their plan has been successful: Anderson s murder had been staged to shock and kill
Myra. Anderson and Bruhl s mini play created a false sense of reality to which Myra fell victim.
This skewing of reality becomes the basis for Deathtrap as a whole since Anderson and Bruhl s
original illusion shape all of the following

Why Software Should Be Free By Richard Stallman

Term Paper
INFO 450
06/06/15
In the paper Why Software Should Be Free written by Richard Stallman, he argued that developers
should develop free software. In the paper, Stallman justified his belief of the free software
movement. Stallman believes that free software can be defined with the four essential freedoms: the
freedom to run the program however the users like, the freedom to modify the source code so that it
does different computing, the freedom to distribute copies of the program, and the freedom to
distribute the modified copies to others. In his justifications of his stand on free software, he argues
that people will still have the initiative to develop software even though they know that it will be
freely distributed. Hence, Stallman believes that one of the main goals for the ... Show more content

Stallman first reminded the readers that institutions do not have to be software houses to be able
to pay programmers. Stallman then brought out his own experience of making a living for six
years as a free software developer. Stallman talked about his experience of him being hired from
other institutions to make improvements for free software. He explained that these institutions are
able to fund programmers by using the money from donations from computer manufacturers.
Lastly, Stallman justified that although free software developer realized that they are getting paid
at least half of what they could make elsewhere, they do this because they will be free from
bureaucracy, and they feel good about themselves. They feel good about themselves because they
know their works are for the greater good for humanity. Hence, Stallman once again confirmed that
we do not have to worry that no one will program, since programming is the most fascinating of all

Preparing An Expert When Making Our Next Investment Choice
Purpose: Introduction/background of problem
The purpose of this report is to help determine if it is better to consult an expert when
making our next investment choice. There are still three primary options we have to choose
from in order to make our decisions. The option we have are to invest in real estate, retail
franchise just for hats, or high yield municipal bonds. The decision was made to look at two
possible outcomes for each equation instead of three. The hope was that we will be able to help
simply the process by doing this action. The interests are whether the market will be Favorable
or Unfavorable, so we have collapsed the Medium and Low outcomes. With each of these
options there are different levels of risk that have to be considered in our decision making
process. Forecasts serve as decision support tools that allow leaders to plan for the future by
performing what if analyses to determine how changes in inputs affects outcomes (Nordmeyer,
2015). In this scenario we are trying to determine if it is cost effective to consult an expert for hi
forecasting service due to the fee he charges for his services. We are going to conduct further
analysis to determine the value of the information the expert will provide.

The Industrial Revolution And Latin America
The Industrial Revolution Latin America in The Nineteenth Century

в—ЏIndia, Egypt, Ottoman Empire, China and Latin America experimented in modern industry.
в—ЏThey were nowhere near the kind of major social transformation that had taken place in
Britain, Europe, North America and Japan.
в—ЏThe profound impact of European and North American industrialization was hard to avoid.
After Independence in Latin America

  • 2. Mx5 Vs S14 When Drifting Mx5 vs s14 when drifting Mazda miata mx5 1995 and nissan s14 1995 two great cars for drifting but the hard thing is deciding what one to get or what one is better. Now let s start off with the miata. Back in 1989 the mx5 made a debuted in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show. The MX 5 was conceived as a small roadster with light weight and minimal mechanical complexity limited only by legal and safety requirements, while being technologically modern and reliable. These cars are slow in a straight line you can get a 1.6 or a 1.8 liter motor the 1.8 had 105 hp to the wheels but the mx 5 was very light and handled well so if you had it on a mountain road it would dominate you could also get a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As performance goes the mx5 is very light but not very powerful but when drifting a light vehicle makes for less traction which is good for initiating a slide and maintaining is but doing a long drift is hard to do and some come with lsd or a locking differential and you can get two different motors for the mx5 a 1.6 liter and a 1.8 liter the hp difference is about 5hp not a lot but it can help you some when drifting and the s14 is a heavier car but still handles good not as good as the miata but it would beat the miata in a straight line any day a lot of s14s come with mechanical locking differentials so both wheels turn not as good as a welded diff but it works thee s14 is harder to drift in the small corner be cause the car has quite a bit longer wheelbase but when going high speed and doing a long drift id does better and it can come with 3 different types of motor the least powerful one ka24e a 4 cylinder motor with a single overhead cam and the second one a ka24de the middle class 2 overhead cams 4 cyl and the sr20det this was the best option for hp it had 4cyl and a turbo a lot of s14s had these put in for after market motors great for drifting but for the motor a easy thing you can do is exhaust and intake for better flow so the motor can run harder and you can do injectors which delivers more fuel to the motor the two big things you can do to make lots of power is either rebuilding the motor to make more power you can add a turbocharger which basically uses ... • 3. Textual Codes Essay Possibly one of the most prevalent codes in daily living all across the world is how people dress. The cloth people choose to cover their bodies with on a day to day basis says a lot about the individual and about that society. It can serve as a clue to what that person believes morally, what part of the world they come from, and even a message they are trying to send. According to Daniel Chandler in his book Semiotics: The Basics, Semioticians seek to identify codes and the tacit rules and constraints which underlie the production and interpretation of meaning within each code (Chandler 2007: 148). Chandler goes on to discuss three different types of codes within his book consisting of social codes, textual codes, and interpretive codes. The variety of styles worn across various cultures reveals something about the social codes. The textual codes can be seen in how clothingis advertised, and what this means across the various cultures whether it serves to individualize some or unite others plays... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... American Christian females while provided with a wide range of variety of clothing styles are looked down upon if they caught showing too much skin. Typically, the more modest her clothing is the better off she is, the idea is to help maintain purity and keep temptation away. To help modern American Christians hold true to their modesty, they have adopted the popular slogan, modest is hottest as an advertisement. The idea of Christian American female clothing is to be able to wear the styles they want, but still remain modest in how they dress. Those who are found to be wearing clothes of a more revealing nature are said to not be aligned with beliefs regarding modesty and the Christian faith and could potentially be labeled as living in sin, as stipulated in Biblical ... • 4. Figurative Language In The Jungle By Richard Connell Richard Connell uses figurative language in the story to add richness and spark by using metaphors and similes. Part of the American Culture is slang which is metaphors and similes. It s just how we talk and communicate. Even in a story with a scary, mysterious type of mood we can still have slang. I will explain some of the metaphors and similes throughout the story and how they add the richness the story s needs. When Richard Connell quotes trying to peer through the dank tropical night that was palpable as it pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht. , he uses the key phrases such as pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht . This key phrase is showing a detailed way to say that it was getting dark and into the night. But instead of being unimaginative and dull, Connell describes the night so it s easy to imagine using a simile that we can relate to.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s like moist black velvet. He is explaining how the view is; how he can t see that well because it looks black and fuzzy like velvet. Instead of saying it s dark out can t see , he spices things up a little and makes the sentence more relatable. On the second page of The Most Dangerous Game, it quotes There was no breeze. The sea was as flat as a plate glass window. Richard Connell uses the keyword as comparing two subjects which is using a simile. He is comparing these objects to make the reader better understand what he is saying and what he is trying to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Nt131 Unit 3 Paper All three of the policies are in some way a little bit different than the current system in place in New York. Delaware uses a three tier system that allows the state and local government to share the responsibility of making decisions regarding distribution. Tier 1 provides funding for the cost for such things as teachers salaries and their benefits. In addition, this Tier determines the amount of money needed per pupil, meaning that the number of students in the districtdetermines the amount of funds that a district received. Tier II: this is the amount of money given to the district by the state to cover such things as schools supplies, building maintenance and utilities. Tier III: this is the fund, provided to the districts base on their pupil number, and this helps to equalize things between poor and wealthy districts.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, poorer districts will receive a bigger share of Tier III funding to fill the gap for special needs in their district and the amount given to wealthier district. Whereas in Indiana the state government decides the distribution amount because the state is the biggest stakeholder and funder in their policy. New Jersey has a system that is similar to New York where a formula is used to determine the amount the district will receive and district makes up the rest. New Jersey funding policy works by using the SFRA formula to determine the base cost per pupil in order to meet their basic educational needs. The formula is used to calculate the extra funds needed for such things as special needs and Limited English proficient (LEP). The state uses the School Funding Reform Act (SFRA) to come up with the amount they will put and then the used that number to figure out how much the local district will have to contribute to their educational ... • 6. Recommendations for Making Shiver by Karen Robards a Movie... Shiver by Karen Robards is the book I picked for this quarter s SSR. I picked the book because, at first glance, the cover was interesting. So, judging a book by it s cover, I picked it up. When reading the brief summary on the inside cover I decided I wanted to read it. There wasn t much to it, really. I ve never read anything by this author before so I had no idea what to expect. The book was about Samantha Jones and her son Tyler, and about how they were pulled into the most dangerous situation of their lives. Danny, or Marco to Sam, was the one who pulled them into it. He is a member of the FBI, going undercover as a former member of the FBI, one who was in witness protection program and had stolen from and betrayed those he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would also take out the part of the book between Sam and Danny that wouldn t be very good for children, so that more people can watch the movie. There s a lot more, but too many for right now. Samantha Jones has long black hair and dark blue eyes, and pale skin. She s also very pretty, as many male characters in the book have said about her. Sam is really stubborn, protective, and mature. Not to mention snarky, she has been very rude to Danny because she believe he s a dangerous criminal. Danny is more loose, he likes to be... not stuck up. He jokes a lot and calls Sam Baby Doll all of the time. He has brown hair and tan skin, as he was described in the book, he has a worked out body. Tyler is just adorable, the way I picture him. Hair and eyes matching his mothers he is playful and smart. He listens to his mother and knows what to do in case of an emergency, he is always very happy and high spirited. Samantha would be played by Jennifer Connelly because her dark hair colour is almost the same as I pictured Sam s. Though her eye colour is blue in the book and Jennifer s is green, it could be fixed by coloured contacts. I didn t find many actresses that were close to my version of Samantha. Danny, however, was a little easier to pic for. I already knew who I wanted to choose to play him because I pictured this actor as him while reading the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The First Day Of English Class I look the first debate judge in the eyes and he nods. Then my gaze drifts to the second one and she smiles. Finally I look to my right at my final judge, he simply winks at me. I close my eyes and count to three. It s finally time to begin; this is my time. These next three minutes everyone has to listen to me and my opinion. I open my mouth, but the only thought going through my head is, why? Why am I doing this? Why am I here? Why did I make this mistake? It was the first day of English class and the teacher asked, who here has ever given a class presentation before? I looked around hoping, praying, that someone else is like me. However fate was not on my side. Every hand in the class was proudly raised high and I was all alone on my little island of fear. The teacher looked directly at me and asked why I had not ever done a presentation. I m a clicker, I mumbled, it was barely audible but the teacher heard it and his face softened. Well Mr. Peschansky it s time you become a talker. A psychological study done in the early 70 s found that people are more afraid of public speaking then of death. Standing at the front of the room in my first debate tournament I realize just how true that is. All I can hear is my heart hammering away in my chest, my legs feel like they are going to give and I m shaking all over. I never opened my mouth when I was in grade school. I was the kid that was always reading. If my head was not buried in a book then something was probably ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Technology Has A Growing Influence On Home Life, The... Technology has been a growing influence in home life, the business world, and now education. Many schools use technology to enhance student learning. Administrators have bought technological devices and tools such as; digital cameras, SMART boards, laptops computers, projectors, and course software to support curriculum, all in the hopes of improving student achievement and motivation. However, the technology tools themselves should not be the focus. Technology cannot take place of the teacher; it is a tool that the educator uses to enhance the student s understanding and should be used as supplemental and to complement the educator s lessons. Bassett recognized that the technological age should not be about technology alone, rather it should be about what the teacher and the students are doing with the technology to further understanding and engagement with the lesson (2005, p. 77). Technology tools are becoming readily available for teachers and students. Today technology is more available then ever. Honey (2005) sites the National Center of EducationStatistics, in saying that public schools have made consistent progress in expanding Internet access in classrooms. Having these technological tools and access available allow it easy for teachers to put into practice student centered learning. Researchers, Neo and Kian study has proved that the use of technology had greatly effected the student s learning process and widen the depth of learning skills and knowledge. ... Commentary On Nature Shock, By Ashley Merryman Ashley Merryman, co author of Nature Shock, (NY Times, Oct. 6, 2016) in Forget Trophies, Let Kids Know It s O.K. to Lose argues that there is nothing wrong with losing because failure can actually be helpful. I passionately agree with this. Marryman begins by stating the negative outcome of children always earning trophies despite of their participation or accomplishment in which it is teaching children that losing is so terrible. She states that this it is as destructive message. She believes that children look up to their parents aspect on defeats and achievements and cites evidence from a study to prove her point. She also claims that the main way for children to succeed is to acknowledge their mistakes. She argues that it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... John Dickinson, a founding father, drafted a copy called The Articles of Confederation and proposed it to the Continental Congress in Philadelphia. The document was put in use for a while, but it lacked certain powers such as a strong national government and the permission to tax. It failed. The founding fathers, who paid close attention to these errors, fixed it by creating the U.S. Constitution. It is an outstanding document with government principles that still stand up until this moment. At first, the founding fathers failed at creating a self governing document; however, they, being aware of their mistakes, succeeded by drafting another successful document. This concludes that visualizing and experiencing one s problems can lead to triumph. I personally can relate to this statement. For example, I participate in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) event called Calculator Applications. I remember the first time I attended a meet and did my calculator test on a Saturday morning. It was a thirty minute test with seventy questions. I patiently waited for my test score in the school s cafeteria after the test administrators had released us from the test area. Three or four hours had passed, and Mr. Pesina, my UIL math coach, handed me my test back with a slightly embarrassed, disappointed look. As soon as I glanced at it, a huge twenty two stood out apart from the test directions. I was extremely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Building A Computer And The Computer Building a computer When people hear that some people build their own computer, they automatically decide that it must be some very challenging task that requires a wizard of all things electronic. I will demonstrate otherwise, by starting with what parts to purchase for a good computer tailored to what is being planned on being done with it. Be it playing games, video editing, or just simple internet browsing. Moving onward to an almost as essential step as putting it together: what tools are going to be needed before we begin the actual assembly process. • 30. Donald Kettl s The Next Government Of The United States Donald Kettl presents many controversial ideas in his book The Next Government of the United States. While some of the ideas Kettl provides many be disagreed upon by some he gives excellent validation for reasoning. Two ideas that I believe are well worth discussing are the Mildred Paradox that correlates with the Mildred Corollary and the irresponsible governance provided by the federal government. Each of these ideas brings about aspects that should be considered by citizens when thinking of the U.S. government. Kettl s ideas are important in considering what the government does and does not do for citizens: consequently, some may or may not trust the United States government, and Kettl is providing reasoning behind the distrust. Kettl uses the negligence and disconnection of the government to the citizens to provide reasoning for why our government is failing us. The Mildred Paradox pertains to the United States government paying for services provided to citizens, but is not the provider of the actual service. The services that the government is paying for are outsourced to other companies. The government is not properly controlling or even involving themselves in these services, therefore, things can slip through the cracks without being noticed; correspondingly, things may be overlooked for the sake of the company providing the service. Kettl argues that the exposure to such issues is growing in our system. Medicare and Medicaid provide money to people who need it, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

John Stuart Mill s Philosophy of Happiness Essay John Stuart Mill s Philosophy of Happiness Along with other noted philosophers, John Stuart Mill developed the nineteenth century philosophy known as Utilitarianism the contention that man should judge everything in life based upon its ability to promote the greatest individual happiness. While Bentham, in particular, is acknowledged as the philosophy s founder, it was Mill who justified the axiom through reason. He maintained that because human beings are endowed with the ability for conscious thought, they are not merely satisfied with physical pleasures; humans strive to achieve pleasures of the mind as well. In Utilitarianism, Mill noted, utility includes not solely the pursuit of happiness, but the prevention or mitigation of unhappiness (Mill 12). The pursuit of pleasure has also been condemned by critics as being little more than the promotion of one s own interests, with no regard to the happiness of others. Mill disputes this as being narrow minded, clarifying that the pleasure principle which forms the foundation for utilitarianism, what is right in conduct, is not the agent s own happiness, but that of all concerned (Mill 16). With this acknowledgment, however, comes the criticism that people cannot possibly be motivated by something as satisfying the collective good of society. Mill countered this by pointing out, The utilitarian morality does recognize in human beings the power of sacrificing their own greatest good for the good of others (Mill 16). To the objection that pleasure is an acceptable end is contrary to Christian principles because it is godless, Mill states, If it be a true belief that God desires, above all things, the happiness of his creatures, and that this was his purpose in their creation, utility is not only not a godless doctrine, but more profoundly religious than any other (Mill 21). Mill s pleasure principle was disputed by both philosophers and theologians because of its apparent lack of association to a code of morality. To this, Mill contended that there can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goal of this program was to reduce the level of nitrogen and phosphorous flowing to the Bay by 40% by the year 2000, from their 1985 levels (Blankenship 2). The first step in this program was to reduce the amount of nutrient pollution from point sources (end of the pipe) such as wastewater treatment facilities that feed into the many tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay (The Chesapeake Bay Watershed 1). However, the results of these cleanup efforts were not enough to reach the goal of the program. Therefore, the areas involved now had to target the non point sources of nitrogen and phosphorous. The non point sources are storm water run off from agricultural and developed sites, air pollution, and the development of sensitive forests that act as buffers for tributaries and the Bay (1). The Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act of 1989 took aim at these sources in Tidewater Virginiaby requiring resource management practices in the use and development of environmentally sensitive land (1). From the point of graduating high school, there is a pressure on students to go to college and get a degree. This is relevant today because most graduates from high school go to straight collegeto get the career they strive for. Colleges should be free because it causes more focus on education, most careers require a college degree and provide new opportunities for children. College should not be free all because taxes would go through the roof and would create a vicious cycle of fighting for careers between people. Peak oil would imbalance countries economical situations and may lead to a chain reaction with negative effects on multiple layers. Evidently, there is mutual interest to prevent such a thing from happening but the possibility is nevertheless considered. OPECs initial goal to ensure stable prices on petroleummarkets in order to avoid any negative fluctuations did not always correspond. The organization actually favored inflation more than in one occasion but its influence in controlling oil prices dropped considerably since 1973. It was proven that, having quadrupled the price of oil, OPEC had in its hands the power to inflict economic hurt on the rich countries. (Beenstock 2007, p. 134) Although OPEC does not completely control the oil market today, it nevertheless continues to be influent because its decisions to reduce production may lead to either a decrease or increase of oil prices. OPEC s existence is dependent on the future of oil. Whether or not oil will dominate as the main energetic source for worldwide economy will decide its future. The situation is worsened when the owner of the dog, Norm, repossesses it.
