Advantages Of Supercritical Fluids
Supercritical fluids (SCFs) exist at temperatures above the liquid vapor critical temperature and have
densities between liquid and vapor states. The advantages of supercritical fluids as environmentally
benign solvents arise from their non toxicity, non combustibility, availability and possibilities for
modulating physical and chemical properties through minor changes of temperature or pressure. These
fascinating features of SCFs lead to their important potentials as green alternatives to toxic organic
solvents and there have been many industrial and technological applications using SCFs [1 7]. During
the last two decades, there has been renewed interest in using supercritical water (SCW) in pyrolysis
[8], hydrolysis [9], oxidation [10], electrochemical reactions [11] and in material synthesis [12].
Physical properties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These resulting differences have a direct consequence on the solvation properties of SCW. Ionic
association occurs to a larger extent in SCW because of the lower solubility of ions in water under
extreme conditions. Aqueous electrolyte solutions constitute an integral part of a large number of
biological and geological processes. Particularly, the thermodynamic properties of ions in supercritical
water (SCW) have crucial roles in many geological processes [13]. Therefore, it is important to study
and model the solvation structure and dynamics of aqueous electrolyte solutions in supercritical
conditions at the microscopic level for the purpose of understanding the chemical processes and
properties of such hydrothermal systems. Ion hydration and ion pair association in SCW have been the
important subjects for hydrothermal technologies [14]. Aqueous fluids which occur ubiquitously in the
earth s crust and upper mantle at higher temperatures and pressures are involved in magmatic
processes, metamorphism,

Western And Western Saddles
According to society, Equestrians are jockeys that race around a track. But to anyone who s actually
ridden or has a passion for horses, you know that there are two distinctive styles of riding English and
Western. There are both similarities and differences between the two types of riding. Regardless of the
style of riding people participate in or favor, each world of riding opens up various activities for the
rider to enjoy.
The most obvious difference between English and Western riding is the tack itself. Most people
associate Western riding with cowboys and herding cattle. The Western saddle is a larger, heavier
saddle with a horn in the front. The saddle is more comfortable and easier to sit in, to provide a more
comfortable seat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, English style horses tend to be taller and many are leggy, aiding their ability to travel
over long distances at a variety of speeds as well as jump over a variety of obstacles (Blocksdorf
2016). English horses are normally lighter and taller to give them an advantage over jumping fences
and performing in cross country. Western horses and stockier and they tend to be shorter than English
horses. Western horses tend to be compact and capable of steady travel all day with small bursts of
speed to chase stray cattle (Blocksdorf 2016). Of course, a Quarter horse can participate in the English
discipline, and a Dutch Warmblood could participate in reining, but those breeds are usually
specifically bred for either English or Western disciplines. A similarity between English and Western
riding is the posture. Both types of riding require the rider to sit up straight in the saddle and have their
heels down. Comfortably and securely sitting in the saddle requires you to keep your hands down,
tuck your elbows in, and push your shoulders back. Good posture in the saddle is essential to riding
correctly. For example, A balanced rider is able to maintain this center of balance through all paces. I
call this the independent riding posture . The riding posture is the position the rider establishes in the
saddle, at all paces. An independent riding posture gives the rider a stable base allowing them to use
their legs, seat, and hands

Bell Jar Disconnection
It is said that people cannot truly know themselves, but must rely on reflections in mirrors,
photographs, and other people in their lives. Unable to see themselves as others see them, people often
get confused and end up detaching themselves from reality. Author Sylvia Plath was a bright, young
woman with an interest in poetry and writing. However, after the death of her father, she developed
neurosis and attempted suicide for the first time using sleeping pills, but was unsuccessful. She uses
her depression and suicidal tendencies as a foundation for her novel, published two weeks before her
successful suicide. The Bell Jar highlights the concept of detachment through the main character,
Esther, who feels a disconnection from herself. As she struggles to recognize herself and find a path
for her future, she slowly descends into madness. Sylvia Plath in The Bell Jar creates the motifs of
mirrors and magazines to convey the idea that individuals often have difficulty accepting themselves.
Quite often, magazines glamorize real life and make reality distant from fact. This is especially true
throughout The Bell Jar, starting as early as page 2 where the main character explains a ... Show more

Especially through the disease neurosis, which Esther had, she never connected her mirror image to
her inner image, even when she seems to look normal: Then my ears went funny, and I noticed a big,
smudgy eyed Chinese woman staring idiotically into my face. It was only me, of course, I was
appalled to see how wrinkled and used up I looked (Plath 18). Esther doesn t immediately recognize
herself in an elevator reflection, which startles her and causes her to believe she is not alone in the
elevator. Later in the novel, after her signs of depression have began to emerge, she starts to cry during
a magazine photoshoot. Once she stops crying and attempts to apply makeup to her fatigued

Introduction to Statistics and Research Arkansas State University
Abstract
It is of utmost importance to the Harmony Creek Middle School that they conduct research into how
their students are learning in different classrooms. They believe that their teachers may need to
develop the same methodology in their classroom instruction in order to achieve the highest math
scores possible. I will investigate Harmony Creek Middle School test scores based on a number of
factors: classroom methods of teaching, gender, race, socioeconomic status and teacher student race. I
will use the ANOVA as well as the t test to investigate this. I will begin with my introduction in which
I will give more information about the teachers. Next, a review of literature on the aspects and
research that has been obtained on each method of instruction used at Harmony Creek Middle School
will be discussed and reported on. Finally, I will take a look at the results, and I will give my
recommendations to the school.
Is there a correlation between test scores and methods of teaching for students based on gender, race,
or economics?

How Is Propaganda Used In North Korea
Movies have become a powerful form of media used to sway a large audience. Not only is a story told
to the viewer, but an overall message is also portrayed through film as well. So it is no wonder that in
North Korea, the usage of movies to create propaganda films in order to project a certain view of their
country towards their people. The strengthened usage of film as propaganda could be see after Kim
Jong Il moved the to the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Korean Worker s Party in 1966
and eventually lead him to become director of the Motion Picture and Arts Division in 1970
(Armstrong, 210). Kim Jong Il was known to have an affinity for arts and film and in a county with
such strong influence with propaganda, Kim knew that these position would propel the message and

The Wonder Wom The Transformation Of The Wonder Woman
Published by All Star Comics on October 1941, the day Marston s creation of the first female
superhero revolutionized the world. From a love triangle surged the greatest representation of a
powerful and independent woman, which shaped American society. Wonder Woman a fictional
character that became an icon of pop culture and women in general. American politics from the years
1890s 1980s faced social reforms and new ideals, a dominant force in Lepore s book prove that more
than a decade of strife , influenced heavily the shaping of Wonder Woman. Diana of Themyscira,
daughter of queen Hippolyta and Zeus would bring hope, beyond the fictional world to the land of the
free and home of the brave. Politics in the United States is one of those topics that can have several
meanings depending on who is defining it, thus because many things can influence the person who is
defining it. In this case, it is to be avoided at all costs definitions or words that are hard enough to
pronounce, that is for the analysts, and political science professors, as it has been scientifically proven
that learning is more captivating when it is tied with something or someone we know or have seen
before. First we are going to start off, by mentioning some of the outstanding political sections from
that time period, before we get to the influence it had on the creation of Wonder Woman. Woodrow
Wilson had been elected as president in 1912, he promised a government based on, democratic
principle.

Analysis Of Stanley Milgram s Behavioral Study Of...
Throughout the course of history, the phenomenon of psychology has drawn countless psychologists
and scientists to further comprehend the depths and fascinations of the human mind and body. Using
experimentation as a source of obtaining and recording desired information regarding the new
realizations of the mind, cognitive scientists continue to fathom at the intricate revelations the mind
has to offer. Although the complexities of the mind have brought scientists to puzzling conclusions,
scientists have used a series of experimental steps to conclude how and why the processes of the brain
can change the actions and personalities of an individual.

With each incorrect answer, the voltage of the electric shock would increase, beginning at a voltage of
15 volts to a deadly voltage of 450 volts. However, the experiment was most definitely rigged. The
learners were hired actors used as part of the experiment to determine whether the teacher (one of the
40 male participants) would continue to obey the commands of the experimenter despite the blood
chilling screams from the opposite room. Milgram further explains in detail why the reasoning behind
his experiment is surprisingly valid. The most important information of Milgram s article provides a
table recording the different variations of shock levels, beginning from slight shock to XXX. The
different levels of shock voltages are measured from 15 volts to 450 volts. The right side of the table
attributes to number of teachers who found the corresponding voltage as their maximum shock. A
majority of the teachers did not identify a maximum shock until 300 volts was reached. At this point,
various teachers discontinued the experiment and refused to participate further. However, Milgram
states of the 40 subjects, 26 obeyed the orders of the experimenter until the end, proceeding to punish
the victim until they reached the most potent shock available on the shock generator (376). Milgram s
data shows that 65 percent of the men chosen, decided to inflict the highest pain threshold upon

William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily
Love, Loss and Longing three traits that many would agree Emily Grierson, the main character from
William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily , experiences inexorably. At first glance, one might be confident
in one s understanding of the story at face value, claiming it to be a thrilling mystery with a
mysterious ending. Another may try to analyze contextual evidence to answer some of the many
unanswered questions this story proposes. Why does Emily sleep with the corpse of her late husband?
Why does she kill him in the first place? Yet, I will not attempt to do so, at least not directly. I will
instead turn to the perspective from which this story is told: that of the townspeople. The ways which
they describe Emily will lead to tangential yet important realizations that they share more with the
outlandish characters they describe than they realize, illuminating basic human tendencies that we all
share along the way. In Part I of the story, Emily is introduced in detail that, at first glance, one may
insignificant to the plot yet somewhat telling of Emily s condition. After careful reflection on the
words used, however, one could draw a very different conclusion: [Emily] entered a small, fat woman
in black, with a thin gold chain descending to her waist and vanishing into her belt, leaning on an
ebony cane with a tarnished gold head (1). Emily is, in part, a manifestation of the negative effects
that inevitably accompany wealth. First, she is described as wearing all black

Plato s Theory of Knowledge
Plato s Theory of Knowledge
What appears to be so to me is true for me, and what appears to be so to you is true for you. It follows
that everyone s perceptions are equally true. This of course is the extreme form of relativism that
Protagoras claims when he asserts that man is the measure of all things in regards to truth. It seems
that if all perceptions (e.g. judgments and beliefs) are equally true, there can be no room for expertise.
But what is Protagoras to say of our natural inclination that such things as wisdom and the wise really
do exist among individuals? If Protagoras relativism is to be accepted, he must explain how expertise
is possible. Protagoras does not deny that some men are wiser than others, but he disagrees that ...

In this picture we do not say that the new state of mind (healthy Socrates) once the drugs have been
administered is truer or wiser than the original state of mind (sick Socrates), rather we say it is better.
It is our common misconception of equating good states with true things, rather than equating good
states as better (not truer); as Socrates puts it in behalf of Protagoras, ...The [good] things which
appear to [one] are what some people, who are still at a primitive stage, call true ; my position
however, is that the one kind are better than the others, but in no way truer (167b). It seems that we are
able to allow expertise in light of the Measure Doctrine simply by arguing that the doctor s wisdom
does not have any command of objective truth, rather what he is doing is simply affecting change for
the better or good with respect to the perceiver. This is controversial, and we will see why later when
Socrates brings up the kind of role expertise plays in emergency situations and judgments about the
future. But for now, we will look at another example that is meant to bolster Protagoras defense.
The wise politician is said to be the one who affects change by making wholesome things seem just
and instead of pernicious. Whatever in any city is regarded as just and admirable is just and admirable,

The Beliefs Of Rabbinic Judaism
1. Rabbinic Judaism Rabbinic Judaism is a Judaism centered around the teachings and writings of
Rabbis. Its formation began over 1,900 years ago when the Second Temple was destroyed in 70 A.D.
Rabbinic Judaism consists of several branches. Those Branches include Orthodox, Conservative,
Reform and Reconstructionist. Rabbinical Judaism involves the teachings and writings of the Mishna
and the Talmud, which are considered to be the Oral Torah made up of both spoken laws passed down
by GOD to Moses as well as rabbinical commentary on the Torah. Rabbinic Judaism believes that oral
tradition is important. They also believe that the only way the Torah can be preserved is through the
oral law, the only way this can be done is through the rabbi. Whereas Biblical Judaism rely mainly on
scriptures. Rabbinic Jews also receives their guidance in the written word of God from the Halakah.
2. Branches of Judaism
The four branches of Judaism are Orthodox, Reform, Conservative, and Reconstructionist Judaism.
Orthodox Judaism is the modern classification for the traditional Jewish ways that upholds the halakic
way of life that comes from the Torah. Reform Judaism which is also known as liberal or progressive
Judaism subjects religious law and customs to human judgment. They try to approach the Torah from
a modern day aspect instead of from the times they were written in. Conservative Judaism was

Jess Gough Case Summary
No. It was unethical for Jess Gough to set up and monitor Coates based on rumors and suspicious
behaviors and no tangible evidence. In choosing his course of action, Gough violated at least two of
the tenets of the Principle for Persons: he did not give each person sympathetic consideration,
regarded another person as a mere possession and treated them as expendables. Gough was more
concerned with proving Coates took part in committing industrial espionage instead of considering the
possible repercussions it could have on the employees he pressured to get involved. Gough also did

Gough willingly decided to monitor Coates activities at work and had other employees engineer a
faulty routine for the new security software in order to set up Coates. Under no point was Coates
notified that he was being investigated for suspicious wrongdoings throughout these activities.
Further, Gough appears to have violated the ideal of prudence; he seemed to decide quickly in his
action by choosing to just react and monitor Coates work, without thoroughly thinking through about
what response would be most appropriate to the suspected allegations. Gough also appeared to
violated the ideal of fairness, as Gough did not follow, nor was he in accordance with the rules or
standards set in place for when allegations of suspicious wrongdoings occur. Gough also unfairly put
pressure upon his subordinates to monitor and set up another coworker, which is not within their job

appeared to have violated the ideal of justice. Gough did not evaluate the situation according to their
merits and did not give Coates his due, as he chose to monitor Coates work based off of rumors and

The Current Indian Laws On Child Labor
What are the current Indian laws on child labor and how are they followed? On December 11, 1992,
India endorsed the Convention on the Rights of the Child but did not agree to one clause that declared
children, fourteen years of age and younger, to be protected by the law to not engage in hazardous
working conditions. The convention was open for ratification in 1898 and mapped out basic necessary
rights for children under the age of eighteen. These are a few of the rights India ratified: the right to
education, the right to information, the right to nutrition, the right to health and care, the right to
protection from abuse, the right to protection from exploitation, the right to development, and the right
to survival. India has also created a law in 2006 that banned the use of child labor for domestic
purposes and in the hospitality industry (Clifford, 2011). The legal age is fourteen years of age for
children to work but that law is not strictly followed. A number of children are recruited into industries
at ages as young as six years old. The table on the above page represents the percentage of children,
from seven to fourteen, who are child laborers. NGO, or Non Governmental Organizations, are groups
of people who stand up for social justice and sustainable development and human rights who are not a
part of the government (NGOs India, n.d.). These organizations go around India and try to find the
employers that still hold children under the age of fourteen as

There are implications regarding production and distribution of media content to a public audience. In
the media, as in any industry, big corporations play a vital role, but so do small, emerging ones. When
you lose small businesses, you lose big ideas. People who own their own businesses are their own
bosses. They are independent thinkers. They know they can t compete by imitating the big guys they
have to in novate, so they re less obsessed with earnings than they are with ideas. They are quicker to
seize on new technologies and new product ideas. They steal market share from the big companies,
spurring them to adopt new approaches. This process promotes competition, which leads to higher
product and service quality, more jobs, and greater wealth. It s called capitalism (Ted Turner). Today,
the only way for media companies to survive is to own everything up and down the media chain (Ted
Turner). I believe that conglomerates thrive better when they aren t in the hands of many, because the
idea of the company can get changed into something it was not intended to be. With more people in
the ownership, ideas can flow and possibly broaden the company, but I feel that too many people are
unnecessary. In the sense of large companies, many advisors may be needed. The

Similarities Between The Signalman And The Signalman
Just like the slow ticking of an old grandfather clock, gothic literature will be one of the most feared
titles one will ever read for good reason. It s heart pounding. Sweat inducing. Pupil shaking. It is
startlingly real and lifelike, and you won t be able to stop yourself from turning around to just check.
Those deep, dark, unexplained laments in the murky recesses of our minds have moulded itself into
two very distinct types of gothic literature traditional and contemporary. Traditional gothic literature,
like Charles Dickens The Signalman utilises an unusual setting, and revolves heavily around the
supernatural, which is further emphasised in its use of first person; contemporary literature, like Roald

that the signalman is troubled because of correlated events, and is unwilling to voice his fears out to
another. Another character that spells out suspense is the spectre the spectre always appears at
uncanny times, and soon after, events happen with devastating consequences. Within six hours after

unloads a boatful of suspense right into the reader s lap that will make the reader wondering if this

vastly different way to create suspense. Mary Maloney goes

Stereotyping In Classroom

your professor is nice and understanding is not stereotyping; it is students expecting college to be like

I think the best piece of effort given by the author is to make the extra effort. The author advises that if

The Environmental Impact Of The Fast Fashion Industry
Fashion is a clear reflection of the social, economic, political and cultural period. More and more
people are becoming concerned with their style and more importantly, how it affects their wallet. This
mindset has paved the way for the fast fashion industry to flourish. Fast fashion is clothing [being
produced] at increasingly low prices, prices so low that many consumers consider this clothing to be
disposable... the clothing equivalent of fast food. (Claudio) Consumers are so caught up on the fact
that they are getting a bargain, that they totally disregard the uncomfortable reality surrounding the
dark side of mass consumer fashion. The fast fashion industry has created a culture of mindless
consumerism.
One of the many things, people are unaware of, that is attached to fast fashion, is its environmental
impact. People are completely willing to turn a blind eye to the fact that this business is the second
most polluting industry in the world in order to be trendy. The first, and most obvious environmental
impact of the fashion industry is its pollution of water by the use of harmful, toxic chemicals, dyes,
and detergents. The textile industry uses more than 8,000 [types of] chemicals annually, (Scott). Some
of which, are carcinogenic for both people and animals. In fact, the World Health Organization reports

The Cumulative Prognosis Time Distribution For The...
The cumulative prognosis time distribution for the selected signaling pathways are shown in Fig. 4.
The later activation of the IL 10 pathway in the symptomatic subjects can be explained by the anti
inflammatory nature of IL 10 and.... Similarly, the fact that the DNA sensing pathway is quick to
become anomalous is likely due to the initial detection of viral ssRNA by RIG I (Pichlmair, et al.,
2006). In fig. 5, we show further evidence of the pathway cascade, i.e., the fraction of the subjects that
have k pathways out of 403 that are in alarm at a given time averaged over all symptomatic subjects.
This graph suggests that the pathway cascade could permit a potentially very early diagnosis of
influenza. For example, these results suggest that at least 25% of patients that become symptomatic
could be identified in the first 16 hours of infection using a five alarm pathway. Discussion of pathway
results The most likely pathway to go into alarm first in our experiment, based on the MSET results,
was the cytosolic DNA sensing pathway. It was the first pathway to alarm in the cascade over 70% of
the time. Influenza A does not generate dsDNA, but negative sense ssRNA (Pichlmair, et al., 2006).
The cytosolic DNA sensing pathway is known to detect foreign dsDNA in the cell and upon detection
of this exogenous DNA, production and maturation of cytokines and interferons initiates an immune
response (http://www.genome.jp/dbget bin/www_bget?pathway+hsa04623). However, ssRNA can

Franz Kafka s In The Penal Colony
Law is commonly understood as a set of rules made for common good and smooth functioning of the
administration. Both the common people and those involved in governing and making laws must obey
the same. The understanding of legal system as a co operative effort to promote the common good
implies a moral relation between those who govern and those who are governed. However, law in a
colonized land is a different one. Since, in a colony the judicial system is mostly in the hands of the
colonizers, therefore, there is full possibility of the same to be bias or unequal.Law in literature has
now become an established discipline for its gives a picture of what is happening in a society. This
paper makes an attempt to study law and its portrayal in the literature by bringing in Franz Kafka s
short story In the Penal Colony in the context. Kafka s short story can be studied as a depiction of a
colonial state and its people being deprived of a proper judicial system and thus are facing injustice
and inequality.

Correlation Between Wood And Aluminum Surfaces And Their...
This experiment examined the relation between wood and aluminum surfaces and their friction. The
coefficient of static and kinetic friction can be derived from the experiments with the use of a
horizontal Atwood s machine and a Super Pulley. The static friction was tested by setting up an
equilibrium with the hanging mass and the frictional force. Three tests were conducted with increasing
additional mass on the friction block. An unbalanced force was required to test for the coefficient of
kinetic friction. This is possible through solving for the acceleration of the unbalanced force. The total
mass of the system is constant through all four of the tests, but different masses were added to the
hanging mass so that the acceleration would have a variety of different accelerations to accurately
solve for the kinetic friction. As a result, our coefficient of static and kinetic friction are μs = 0.26 ±
0.02 and μk = 0.30 ± 0.01 respectively.
Introduction
According to Collin College, the coefficient of static and kinetic friction are μs = 0.30 and μk = 0.20
respectively. However, the lab material has worn out over time, so their coefficient of frictions may be
different from the regular coefficient of friction. The purpose of this experiment is to determine the
coefficient of kinetic and static friction between aluminum and wood in the lab. These were
determined with the use of a horizontal Atwood s machine

Pros And Cons Of Being An American Citizen
Classification keeps order intact in a society with billions of people. From birth, I was classified by
gender, race, place of origin, and family background; as a student, age and intelligence level were
added to my extended list of classifications. Not all classifications are automatically given to us,
however; choosing to become a member of clubs and organizations has allowed me to become a
productive member of society.
First and foremost, I classify myself as an American citizen. Being an American citizen has
responsibilities that allow for all members to be accepted. Laws keep society functioning, protecting
and giving rights such as freedom of speech to Americans. I am able to express my patriotism towards
the United States and, if needed, can serve to protect other citizens of my country. On a smaller scale,
I am a member of Ritchie County and have contributed to making the county a better place. As a
student, I am the next generation to make a difference in the world, and attending classes gives me the
knowledge needed to allow this to happen. The senior class is the role model for underclassmen, so I
strive for the best grades I could achieve and respect everyone to show those younger than me how to

Great Expectations Analysis
Every character was written has a backstory that contributes to the plot. In Charles Dickens , Great
Expectations, every character from Pip to Molly has a secret that adds to the storyline. Great
Expectations sets in the early nineteenth century, therefore social class is everything. Passed down
from generation to generation, family businesses have kept the family from moving up in society. For
Pip, the protagonist, that s all he truly wants; Pip wants to become a gentleman and become worthy of
his love, Estella, despite being a poor orphan and an apprentice of a blacksmith. Similar to Dickens
rough childhood, Pip didn t want this family or their struggle to define him. However, even the rich
have their problems. For example, Miss Havisham lets her past affects how she lives on a day to day
basis. One unfortunate event has led her to live her life in sorrow and depression and it affects
everyone around her, especially her adopted daughter, Estella. Even, the convict, Abel Magwitch, lets
his past encounters command his future actions. Under the consequences, Charles Dickens , characters
from Great Expectations, like Pip, Miss Havisham, Estella, and Magwitch, have all let their past affect
their future, as a result, the plot.
It all started with Dickens himself, he had a rough childhood that was somewhat similar to the main
character, Pip. Both were raised in England and put to work at a very young age. However, Dickens

Boston Tea Party Analysis
What happened after the Boston Tea Party The article The Spirt of 74 written by Ray Raphael
discusses the problem that arose after the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was a major event
in history that showed that the colonists were happy with the high taxes on tea. They formed a group
called the Sons of Liberty and dressed like Native Americans and threw crates of tea into the Boston
Harbor. This was a major because it showed that the colonists weren t going to let Parliament put taxes
on one of their major goods. However, the Sons of Liberty didn t thank of the repercussions. The
Boston Tea Party caused severe conciseness to the citizens, such the Coercive Act and Massachusetts
Government Act.
Parliament was not pleased with how the citizens were reacting to the high taxes on tea by tossing the
precious tea in the harbor. The individuals that participated in the event didn t realize how their actions
would affect Worcester County and in the way they participated in government. Extreme actions were
taken place in the county. First the was passing of the Coercive Act, this act made a Crown appointed
governor be in charge of town meeting which was the main way Worcester governed themselves. No
town meetings could be held without the express consent of the Crown appointed governor, who also
needed to approve all agenda items. (Raphael 1). According to Raphael, what parliament was doing
was unconstitutional and officials had to stop what they were doing.

Cultural Exchange In Africa
In the year 1235 C.E a new empire arose in africa just after the fall of the strong ghana years before
this empire, Mali was one of the strongest and wealthiest empires in Africa. Mali was one of the three
strongest and wealthiest empires,it is located in west Africa and above the Niger river. Mali became a
site of cultural exchange because when the people of the north seen their wealth they went to
trade,exchange ideas and share religion.
Mali became a cultural exchange because years before the empire of Mali arised the empire of ghana
was already there it had already attracted people from the north to trade for gold.
The first reason Mali became a site of cultural exchange is because they were the wealthiest empire in
africa located west of africa and people up north started traveling down west africa to trade for gold
and when people from foreign countries come to a new country they will share their culture along with
trading their goods.
According to The Ghana empire by U.C Davis Social Science in the year 2014 it states Mali was one
of three medieval kingdoms that ruled over West Africa. The first empire was Ghana, which was ruled
by a king from the Soninke people and Trade with the Arabs did not create the Ghana empire, but it

one of the strongest and wealthy kingdoms and Mali was one of those strong, wealthy kingdoms and a

The Treatment Of A Patient
When a patient is no longer or unable to feed themselves orally a feeding tube must be ordered.
Specifically, when a patient has prolonged bleeding, facial trauma, upper GI blockage and cancer. An
enteral tube feeding can be placed nasally for a short period of time. The NG tube catheter tip
normally resides inside the stomach or in the small intestine past the pylorus. The number one
complication involved with the use of NG tube feeding is incorrect placement. A nurse can
unintentionally place an NG catheter into the lungs, most notably when a patient has little to no gag
reflex. Completing a test for gastric contents, pH or performing a chest x ray after inserting an NG
tube for confirmation of proper insertion. Another major complication when using NG tubal feeding is
aspiration within the lungs due to gastric substances enter the trachea and into the bronchial spaces of
the lungs. Keeping the head of the bed elevated greater than 30 degrees will reduce aspiration to least
possibility. Applying a gastrostomy or jejunostomy tube for enteral feedings when NG tube has

Write About the Ways in Which Auden Tells the Story in...
I feel that Auden tells the story of Miss Edith Gee extremely well, using a wide variety of literary
techniques to make it an interesting but disturbingly thought provoking read. The story shows how our
protagonist is surely going about her life, in the eyes of others, as if nothing is wrong, but when she is
alone she wonders if anyone does care about her.
The initial exposition is extremely sympathetic towards Miss Gee. Now let me tell you a little story
about Miss Edith Gee is a cruel way to open the narrative as Auden instantly belittles her character
and makes her seem insignificant, whereas she is actually the main, if not only character we meet in
detail. This technique is effectives the reader then feels that she is ... Show more content on

This make me, as a reader feel that she is pessimistic and doesn t really stop thinking and relax for just
a moment. In this same stanza, at line 15, the back pedal brake is described as harsh . This is effective
imagery as it has two different connotations. There could be the fact that it is a hard and rusty back
pedal brake, but there is also the metaphor that she is on a bike ride, a symbol for her monotonous life,
and she is constantly held back by this brake that is stiff and harsh when triggered, possibly meaning
that she is held back in life by the way she lives her life and how dull it is.
The way in which irony is introduced in stanza 5, where Auden says that Miss Edith Gee attends St.
Aloysius church, is clever because St Aloysius overcame his disease of the plague, whereas Miss Gee
has a substantially different fate. This again, may be seen by some to be Auden mocking Edith Gee
and her insignificant life.
Miss Gee looks for guidance as she gazes up to the stars and dialogue is introduced with Does anyone
care that I live in Clevedon Terrace on one hundred pounds a year? She seems to be crying out for
attention or perhaps someone to care for her and love her, but it seems that she is cruelly denied this
desire.
She does find something to bury her thoughts in, and it so happens to be the vicar of her local church,
whom she has sexual fantasies and desires about. Her desires start off to

Which also allowed the firm to recognise more profitable order. However, they ignored the
opportunity cost when they lost DM550 million in the orders which they abandoned. In addition, there
were 90% of orders from custom motor, about 50% of the total annual output were standard motors.
As the customized order would generate certain amount of cost in order and special components, the
firm should consider whether the profit from custom motors could cover the cost of it. In terms of
profit, the firm accepted DM450 million revenue, which should invest DM50 million in
implementation of new strategy and deducted by total cost. The remained amount was DM38.5
million income profit in 1987.
Using the revenue less variable cost (300.3 million) to know the contribution margin
($237.62/unit), and calculate break even point ($111.2million/$237.62 per unit), it is apparent that the
firm actually sold 1.35% of the break even point. Although the order processing, special components
and annual investment cost a great amount, the new strategy and costing system truly made the firm
profitable.

The Hurricane
Bob Dylan s song, The Hurricane, brings to surface several of the themes covered in class this
semester. The song explores general themes like community and responsibility, while also focusing on
many of the sub themes, such as justice and injustice, appearance and reality, and loyalty and
abandonment. Throughout the song, the main characters constantly battle with the above themes in
attempt to frame an innocent man. While the song brings up many of these themes, Dylan s characters
show little consistency with the texts covered, as the texts tend to try to find reconciliation in the
characters, while Dylan s characters feel no remorse in their actions.

While on one hand, creating another monster would hold responsibility to his unnatural creation, he
has a responsibility to the community to prevent these monsters from breeding and wreaking further
havoc upon the community. Fortunately, in the novel, Victor upholds his responsibility to the
community, and denies the monster s demand for a partner, although he knows that this action may
lead to problems in his own life.
The song continues to venture into the theme of justice and injustice. Although all the evidence
supports the Hurricane s innocence, the community as a whole acts to ensure that injustice is served.

Total Institution Research Paper
Total Institutions A total institution is defined as a place of work and residence where a great number
of similarly situated people, cut off from the wider community for a considerable time, together lead
an enclosed, formally administered round of life. In others words this means a group of people who
have been separated from the rest of society and every decision in their life is made for them by
people in charge. The end goal of total institutions is socialization which is taking away old norms,
values, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors from people. Total institutions destruct the old self concept of
people. This whole process can be done in several ways/ Personal possessions are replaced with

very large choice of what they will be getting to eat. Residents have to ask to go to the bathrooms and
be assisted in going to the bathroom. If they are caught doing something alone that they could

have them do what they want. Residents are forced to take the medicine that were prescribed for them
at the times the CMT s will give it to them. Even though this is all being done for the residents own

and build them up with new norms, beliefs, and behaviors. Nursing homes definitely meet the criteria
for a total institution due to the fact that they make up the schedule when everything needs to be done,
they make up the rules for how things will be done, and the residents are expected to follow these

Essay The Role And Functions Of New Zealand Government
The New Zealand Government has made significant changes to the economy throughout the last 15
years. The operation and organisation of business activity in New Zealand has been affected by this
changing economy. All aspects of the New Zealand Government have been altered. The reason for this
change was to improve the performance by being more efficient. The key reforms are privatisation and
corporatisation of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and restructuring government agencies.
The most significant change was the election of the Labour Party in 1984, which ended the Muldoon
Administration. At this time, New Zealand was in a rut because of poor economic management by the

Some restructuring and reforms affected these sectors.
The New Zealand Government owned many enterprises such as State Insurance, Air New Zealand,
New Zealand Rail, The Bank of New Zealand, and Telecom. In 1987 most of these assets were sold.
By doing this it meant the Government could pay off large accumulated debts and allow these
companies to become more efficient. After the sale of these SOEs that the New Zealand Government
has become more efficient too, they can focus on their primary task by providing essential services.
Some of these services include public hospitals, education, benefits, and emergency relief.
From the reforms came a radical change in New Zealand trade. In 1984 the Government devalued the
New Zealand Dollar by 20%, then in 1985 introduced a floating exchange rate. Along with that, the
removal of agricultural subsidies and import tariffs. It allowed New Zealand to be a fairer country to
trade with. As a direct result, the trade competitive index jumped from 0.72 on 1985 to 0.98 in 1987.
Foreign investment increased as the New Zealand Dollar strengthened against the green back and the
pound. Consequently, importing and exporting firms benefited from the change in policies.
The services that the New Zealand Government provides have ongoing restructuring (which means
altering an already established department) in the State Sector. The State Sector Act 1988, which

People argue that the negative impact of superhero films on society is that the film industry has not
been funding more emotionally driven stories and that superhero films are overshadowing those
genres of films.
That maybe true but this is how it has always been what the film industry is about.
The film industry goes through phases of genres and superhero movies are simply the current phase.
It can be that the phase will go on for an unknown period of time.
The film industry does not fund stories just because they are different or against the current

My High School Experience
I live in a small town named Tawau in the Malaysian state of Sabah but I spent most of my high
school years in the state capital Kota Kinabalu (KK). My high school experience had been a total
mess. Partly because my family moved from one city after another and partly because all three of my
high school practices the same kind of education system.
Like all Malaysian , I took the national high school entry exam Pentaksiran Tingkatan Tiga (PT3
examination). In addition, I am required to take an additional exam the Unified Examination
Certificate (UEC) because I went to an academically rigorous Chinese Independent School in KK. The
purpose of these two examinations is to divide student into two large groups Science and Art.
Competition among peers began, only those students who are in the top 20% can enter the Science
class. I scored well in both examination and managed to get into the Science class. However, my dad
was not satisfied with the current situation. He decided that he is going to race with time and push me
and my sister, Grace one year ahead of others. His word was Now, money can buy time . It stands to
reason of his actions because he knew that college tuition fee is increasing every year. He overheard
from one of my relatives that a private school run by a famous Chinese tutor Mr. Lim could put his
plan into work despite paying a more expensive school fee.
After 3 days of high school at the Chinese Independent School in Kota Kinabalu. My dad withdrawn

Theories on How the Universe Works
Both these question can be answered on the same page. A number of aspects of the universe can be
understood only in the light of more recent unifications theories. To understand the GUT era or Grand
Unification Theory era we need to know that it occurred when the universe was subject to the force of
gravity and GUT force. The GUT force predicts that the strong force becomes unified with the weak
and electromagnetic forces at energies above 10^14 GeV. The Grand Unified Theory states that for the
three forces to merge together, the temperature of the universe has to be greater than 10^32 K. The
GUT era lasted until the temperature of the universe dropped to about 10^29 K. at this point the GUT
forces separated into electromagnetic and strong forces. This temperature was reached when the
universe was at the young age of about 10^ 36 of a second. This sudden cooling caused something
called inflation. Inflation was a rapid and sudden expansion of the universe. Basically the unified
theories state that the four forces, strong, electromagnetic, weak, and gravitational will merge at
extremely high temperatures. Although we have a few assumptions about the GUT, scientist have not
been able to succeed in creating the details that have to do with a supergrand unified theory, also
referred to as the theory of everything.
To help explain how the four forces each play a role in today s universe today we need to know what
they are. Gravity is probably one of the easiest of the four

1) The sole plate of the steam iron:
This is usually the metal thick, triangular shaped slab of iron that forms the base over which the
electric iron is built up. The sole plate is cast of molten aluminium. Some part of the mould has the
holes shaped in it which creates the holes that are essential in a steam iron. Heated metal is inserted
into a mould under pressure then cooled and then released. This cooled sole plate is later on treated in
several ways where it s firstly polished then either it s: coated with a non stick material, or covered
with another metal (usually stainless steel). To complete these processes, the sole plates are put on a
large automated carousel, which rotates through each step whereas to polish the plate, an automated
belt sander uses bands of abrasive to polish and buff the plate. An automated spray painting machine
is used to apply the non stick coating. After application, the sole plate is baked in an automated
industrial process.
On the other hand, to coat with another metal (stainless steel), the external metal cover is created by

Ways in Which the Culture Influences the International...
1. Introduction
International marketing or business is uniquely different from the local market because the product
price, place and promotion is vastly different from what is been offered to local customers (Johansson,
2000) With the emergence of the information technology, cross border marketing has never been a
distant dream. However, it has never been easier even for giant multinational companies to face
challenges that come in international business. The biggest challenge comes from the culture which
varies from country to country.
At its basic understanding, international marketing engages the firm in making one or more marketing
mix decisions across national boundaries. At its complex level, it involves the firm in establishing ...

Similarly, in any country whether they are Muslim or non Muslim state, when there are Muslim in the
community they have to cater with halal certified meet as well chicken. Therefore, this cultural factor
has major influence on KFC, McDonalds, as well as Pizza Hut or for that matter all companies who
are involved in restaurant and food sector. Hotel chains in Saudi Arabia are been influenced by the
culture of the society and the country. For instance, Hilton hotel chains in Saudi Arabia and close to
the Mecca and Medina serves mostly to pilgrims rather than the tourist. Hence all activities in Hilton
chain needs to be catered to religious cultural activities (Fallon, 2010).
2. Adaptation and standardization
It was in the Fordism era in the early 19th century where standardization was the most widely used
strategy across the industrialized countries (Johansson, 2000). Henry Ford when he manufactured
Ford Car, the company produced only black Ford. Standardization refers a company providing the
same identical product across the globe (Keegon, 2002). Most of the time they are considered to be
global brands (Johanson, 2000). Some of the example that could be considered global brands is Coca
Cola, McDonalds or Amazon. However, they too have some degree of adaptation in taste or price
when it comes to marketing in a different market. According to Carl Ritzer (2007) in its journal on
Mcdonaldization of society, he found out that in the

The Wiccan Religion
Wicca is an all embraced religion with gods, goddesses, and nature worship at its center with no
central authority or figure defining it. According to a popular Wiccan author, Wicca is based on
harmony with nature and all aspects of the god and goddess divinity. The religion was introduced in
the 1950 s by Gerald Gardner. While it s not an ancient religion Wiccan roots are of ancient agrarian
Celtic society and is considered Neo pagan. Wicca is a non structural religion but it does have priests
and priestesses. It is divided into various lineages and denominations, which are referred to as
traditions. Each tradition has its own organizational structure and level of centralization. Some of the
common varieties are 1734, Alexandrian, Celtic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These festivals are held eight times throughout the year to mark the changes in the seasons. These
festivals include Winter Solstice, the shortest day, Summer Solstice, the longest day, and spring and
Summer Equinoxes. Witches also honor their deities at monthly rites known asesbats, which are held
on the full Moon, when the mind is thought to be more magically powerful. Sabbats begin at sunset
and end at sunset the next day. Along with Sabbats there are festivals also known as rites, these are
held at night. Rites take place in a consecrated space, the circle, and even if there is a temple, the
circle space is created anew for each rite. The space is first swept with a broomstick or besom to
purify it and then blessed with the four elements;air, fire, water and earth. The circle is then
symbolically sealed by drawing a circle around it in the air with a wooden wand or a black handled
knife known as an athame. The four directions; east, south, west and north ,are then honored. Within
the sacred space, the Goddess and God are invoked and magic performed. Rituals usually end with
blessing a chalice of wine and cakes that are shared among the participants. Wiccan practice involves
the manipulation of nature through various rituals in attempts to gain power, prestige, love, or

  • 2. Advantages Of Supercritical Fluids Supercritical fluids (SCFs) exist at temperatures above the liquid vapor critical temperature and have densities between liquid and vapor states. The advantages of supercritical fluids as environmentally benign solvents arise from their non toxicity, non combustibility, availability and possibilities for modulating physical and chemical properties through minor changes of temperature or pressure. These fascinating features of SCFs lead to their important potentials as green alternatives to toxic organic solvents and there have been many industrial and technological applications using SCFs [1 7]. During the last two decades, there has been renewed interest in using supercritical water (SCW) in pyrolysis [8], hydrolysis [9], oxidation [10], electrochemical reactions [11] and in material synthesis [12]. Physical properties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These resulting differences have a direct consequence on the solvation properties of SCW. Ionic association occurs to a larger extent in SCW because of the lower solubility of ions in water under extreme conditions. Aqueous electrolyte solutions constitute an integral part of a large number of biological and geological processes. Particularly, the thermodynamic properties of ions in supercritical water (SCW) have crucial roles in many geological processes [13]. Therefore, it is important to study and model the solvation structure and dynamics of aqueous electrolyte solutions in supercritical conditions at the microscopic level for the purpose of understanding the chemical processes and properties of such hydrothermal systems. Ion hydration and ion pair association in SCW have been the important subjects for hydrothermal technologies [14]. Aqueous fluids which occur ubiquitously in the earth s crust and upper mantle at higher temperatures and pressures are involved in magmatic processes, metamorphism, ... • 3. Western And Western Saddles According to society, Equestrians are jockeys that race around a track. But to anyone who s actually ridden or has a passion for horses, you know that there are two distinctive styles of riding English and Western. There are both similarities and differences between the two types of riding. Regardless of the style of riding people participate in or favor, each world of riding opens up various activities for the rider to enjoy. The most obvious difference between English and Western riding is the tack itself. Most people associate Western riding with cowboys and herding cattle. The Western saddle is a larger, heavier saddle with a horn in the front. The saddle is more comfortable and easier to sit in, to provide a more comfortable seat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, English style horses tend to be taller and many are leggy, aiding their ability to travel over long distances at a variety of speeds as well as jump over a variety of obstacles (Blocksdorf 2016). English horses are normally lighter and taller to give them an advantage over jumping fences and performing in cross country. Western horses and stockier and they tend to be shorter than English horses. Western horses tend to be compact and capable of steady travel all day with small bursts of speed to chase stray cattle (Blocksdorf 2016). Of course, a Quarter horse can participate in the English discipline, and a Dutch Warmblood could participate in reining, but those breeds are usually specifically bred for either English or Western disciplines. A similarity between English and Western riding is the posture. Both types of riding require the rider to sit up straight in the saddle and have their heels down. Comfortably and securely sitting in the saddle requires you to keep your hands down, tuck your elbows in, and push your shoulders back. Good posture in the saddle is essential to riding correctly. For example, A balanced rider is able to maintain this center of balance through all paces. I call this the independent riding posture . The riding posture is the position the rider establishes in the saddle, at all paces. An independent riding posture gives the rider a stable base allowing them to use their legs, seat, and hands ... • 4. Bell Jar Disconnection It is said that people cannot truly know themselves, but must rely on reflections in mirrors, photographs, and other people in their lives. Unable to see themselves as others see them, people often get confused and end up detaching themselves from reality. Author Sylvia Plath was a bright, young woman with an interest in poetry and writing. However, after the death of her father, she developed neurosis and attempted suicide for the first time using sleeping pills, but was unsuccessful. She uses her depression and suicidal tendencies as a foundation for her novel, published two weeks before her successful suicide. The Bell Jar highlights the concept of detachment through the main character, Esther, who feels a disconnection from herself. As she struggles to recognize herself and find a path for her future, she slowly descends into madness. Sylvia Plath in The Bell Jar creates the motifs of mirrors and magazines to convey the idea that individuals often have difficulty accepting themselves. Quite often, magazines glamorize real life and make reality distant from fact. This is especially true throughout The Bell Jar, starting as early as page 2 where the main character explains a ... Esther doesn t immediately recognize herself in an elevator reflection, which startles her and causes her to believe she is not alone in the elevator. • 5. Methods Of Instruction And Their Influence On Diverse... The Study of Methods of Instruction and Their Influence on Diverse Students Test Scores Is there a correlation between test scores and methods of teaching for students based on gender, race, or economics? By Monica Ross July 29, 2016 Introduction to Statistics and Research Arkansas State University Abstract It is of utmost importance to the Harmony Creek Middle School that they conduct research into how their students are learning in different classrooms. They believe that their teachers may need to develop the same methodology in their classroom instruction in order to achieve the highest math scores possible. I will investigate Harmony Creek Middle School test scores based on a number of factors: classroom methods of teaching, gender, race, socioeconomic status and teacher student race. I will use the ANOVA as well as the t test to investigate this. I will begin with my introduction in which I will give more information about the teachers. Next, a review of literature on the aspects and research that has been obtained on each method of instruction used at Harmony Creek Middle School will be discussed and reported on. Finally, I will take a look at the results, and I will give my recommendations to the school. Is there a correlation between test scores and methods of teaching for students based on gender, race, or economics? Introduction This paper will answer the question above. William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily Love, Loss and Longing three traits that many would agree Emily Grierson, the main character from William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily , experiences inexorably. At first glance, one might be confident in one s understanding of the story at face value, claiming it to be a thrilling mystery with a mysterious ending. Another may try to analyze contextual evidence to answer some of the many unanswered questions this story proposes. Why does Emily sleep with the corpse of her late husband? Why does she kill him in the first place? Yet, I will not attempt to do so, at least not directly. I will instead turn to the perspective from which this story is told: that of the townspeople. The ways which they describe Emily will lead to tangential yet important realizations that they share more with the outlandish characters they describe than they realize, illuminating basic human tendencies that we all share along the way. In Part I of the story, Emily is introduced in detail that, at first glance, one may insignificant to the plot yet somewhat telling of Emily s condition. After careful reflection on the words used, however, one could draw a very different conclusion: [Emily] entered a small, fat woman in black, with a thin gold chain descending to her waist and vanishing into her belt, leaning on an ebony cane with a tarnished gold head (1). It follows that everyone s perceptions are equally true. This of course is the extreme form of relativism that Protagoras claims when he asserts that man is the measure of all things in regards to truth. It seems that if all perceptions (e.g. judgments and beliefs) are equally true, there can be no room for expertise. But what is Protagoras to say of our natural inclination that such things as wisdom and the wise really do exist among individuals? It seems that we are able to allow expertise in light of the Measure Doctrine simply by arguing that the doctor s wisdom does not have any command of objective truth, rather what he is doing is simply affecting change for the better or good with respect to the perceiver. This is controversial, and we will see why later when Socrates brings up the kind of role expertise plays in emergency situations and judgments about the future. They know they can t compete by imitating the big guys they have to in novate, so they re less obsessed with earnings than they are with ideas. • 18. Similarities Between The Signalman And The Signalman Just like the slow ticking of an old grandfather clock, gothic literature will be one of the most feared titles one will ever read for good reason. It s heart pounding. Sweat inducing. Pupil shaking. It is startlingly real and lifelike, and you won t be able to stop yourself from turning around to just check. Those deep, dark, unexplained laments in the murky recesses of our minds have moulded itself into two very distinct types of gothic literature traditional and contemporary. Traditional gothic literature, like Charles Dickens The Signalman utilises an unusual setting, and revolves heavily around the supernatural, which is further emphasised in its use of first person; contemporary literature, like Roald Dahl s Lamb to the Slaughter has a varied range of ... Taking a closer look at the quote, the word memorable is indelible in its meaning, for this coincidence has deeply imprinted itself in the signalman s mind along with the Appearance . This quote does show that the spectre is a character that unloads a boatful of suspense right into the reader s lap that will make the reader wondering if this really is just a mere fortuity. Hoping your professor is nice and understanding is not stereotyping; it is students expecting college to be like high school. More and more people are becoming concerned with their style and more importantly, how it affects their wallet. This mindset has paved the way for the fast fashion industry to flourish. Fast fashion is clothing [being produced] at increasingly low prices, prices so low that many consumers consider this clothing to be disposable... the clothing equivalent of fast food. (Claudio) Consumers are so caught up on the fact that they are getting a bargain, that they totally disregard the uncomfortable reality surrounding the dark side of mass consumer fashion. The fast fashion industry has created a culture of mindless consumerism. One of the many things, people are unaware of, that is attached to fast fashion, is its environmental impact. People are completely willing to turn a blind eye to the fact that this business is the second most polluting industry in the world in order to be trendy. The first, and most obvious environmental impact of the fashion industry is its pollution of water by the use of harmful, toxic chemicals, dyes, and detergents. The textile industry uses more than 8,000 [types of] chemicals annually, (Scott). Some of which, are carcinogenic for both people and animals. Similarly, the fact that the DNA sensing pathway is quick to become anomalous is likely due to the initial detection of viral ssRNA by RIG I (Pichlmair, et al., 2006). In fig. 5, we show further evidence of the pathway cascade, i.e., the fraction of the subjects that have k pathways out of 403 that are in alarm at a given time averaged over all symptomatic subjects. This graph suggests that the pathway cascade could permit a potentially very early diagnosis of influenza. For example, these results suggest that at least 25% of patients that become symptomatic could be identified in the first 16 hours of infection using a five alarm pathway. Discussion of pathway results The most likely pathway to go into alarm first in our experiment, based on the MSET results, was the cytosolic DNA sensing pathway. It was the first pathway to alarm in the cascade over 70% of the time. Influenza A does not generate dsDNA, but negative sense ssRNA (Pichlmair, et al., 2006). The cytosolic DNA sensing pathway is known to detect foreign dsDNA in the cell and upon detection of this exogenous DNA, production and maturation of cytokines and interferons initiates an immune response (http://www.genome.jp/dbget bin/www_bget?pathway+hsa04623). The coefficient of static and kinetic friction can be derived from the experiments with the use of a horizontal Atwood s machine and a Super Pulley. The static friction was tested by setting up an equilibrium with the hanging mass and the frictional force. Three tests were conducted with increasing additional mass on the friction block. An unbalanced force was required to test for the coefficient of kinetic friction. This is possible through solving for the acceleration of the unbalanced force. The total mass of the system is constant through all four of the tests, but different masses were added to the hanging mass so that the acceleration would have a variety of different accelerations to accurately solve for the kinetic friction. As a result, our coefficient of static and kinetic friction are μs = 0.26 ± 0.02 and μk = 0.30 ± 0.01 respectively. Introduction According to Collin College, the coefficient of static and kinetic friction are μs = 0.30 and μk = 0.20 respectively. There could be the fact that it is a hard and rusty back pedal brake, but there is also the metaphor that she is on a bike ride, a symbol for her monotonous life, and she is constantly held back by this brake that is stiff and harsh when triggered, possibly meaning that she is held back in life by the way she lives her life and how dull it is. The way in which irony is introduced in stanza 5, where Auden says that Miss Edith Gee attends St. Aloysius church, is clever because St Aloysius overcame his disease of the plague, whereas Miss Gee has a substantially different fate. At this time, New Zealand was in a rut because of poor economic management by the previous Government. Unemployment was high in 1983 and still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some restructuring and reforms affected these sectors. The New Zealand Government owned many enterprises such as State Insurance, Air New Zealand, New Zealand Rail, The Bank of New Zealand, and Telecom. In 1987 most of these assets were sold. By doing this it meant the Government could pay off large accumulated debts and allow these companies to become more efficient. After the sale of these SOEs that the New Zealand Government has become more efficient too, they can focus on their primary task by providing essential services. Some of these services include public hospitals, education, benefits, and emergency relief. From the reforms came a radical change in New Zealand trade. In 1984 the Government devalued the New Zealand Dollar by 20%, then in 1985 introduced a floating exchange rate. Along with that, the removal of agricultural subsidies and import tariffs. It allowed New Zealand to be a fairer country to trade with. As a direct result, the trade competitive index jumped from 0.72 on 1985 to 0.98 in 1987. Foreign investment increased as the New Zealand Dollar strengthened against the green back and the pound. Consequently, importing and exporting firms benefited from the change in policies. The services that the New Zealand Government provides have ongoing restructuring (which means altering an already established department) in the State Sector. • 41. The Influence Of Superhero Films Since the release of the X men trilogy in the early 2000 s, superhero films have been an inextricable part of the cultural landscape, especially in Hollywood. They are huge, seemingly permanent features of modern media. It s no wonder that people love superhero films A lot of the audience grew up reading comic books or watching cartoon adaptations of them They are able to see their favourite characters in the live action version and there is a sense of nostalgia as they remember imagining the Iron Man suit actually existing in real life. Superhero films are a form of escapism (how they provide) They tend to be full of action and witty dialogues, immersing the audience in a colourful and exciting world. For example, Guardians Of The Galaxy is set apart from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are brought to life by the incredible talents of actors who portray them wholeheartedly not only in the big screen but also in real life. For example, Robert Downey Jr. embodied his character iron man so much so he is synonymous with the character. He recently presented a 3 D printed bionic arm to an amputee and inspired him to embrace his differences and be confident with it. However he is not the only one. Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Chris Evans (Captain America) are also a few celebrities who uses their superhero counterpart to help give to charity. People argue that the negative impact of superhero films on society is that the film industry has not been funding more emotionally driven stories and that superhero films are overshadowing those genres of films. That maybe true but this is how it has always been what the film industry is about. The film industry goes through phases of genres and superhero movies are simply the current phase. It can be that the phase will go on for an unknown period of time. The film industry does not fund stories just because they are different or against the current ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My high school experience had been a total mess. Partly because my family moved from one city after another and partly because all three of my high school practices the same kind of education system. Like all Malaysian , I took the national high school entry exam Pentaksiran Tingkatan Tiga (PT3 examination). In addition, I am required to take an additional exam the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) because I went to an academically rigorous Chinese Independent School in KK. The purpose of these two examinations is to divide student into two large groups Science and Art. Competition among peers began, only those students who are in the top 20% can enter the Science class. I scored well in both examination and managed to get into the Science class. However, my dad was not satisfied with the current situation. He decided that he is going to race with time and push me and my sister, Grace one year ahead of others. His word was Now, money can buy time . It stands to reason of his actions because he knew that college tuition fee is increasing every year. He overheard from one of my relatives that a private school run by a famous Chinese tutor Mr. Lim could put his plan into work despite paying a more expensive school fee. • 43. Theories on How the Universe Works Both these question can be answered on the same page. A number of aspects of the universe can be understood only in the light of more recent unifications theories. To understand the GUT era or Grand Unification Theory era we need to know that it occurred when the universe was subject to the force of gravity and GUT force. The GUT force predicts that the strong force becomes unified with the weak and electromagnetic forces at energies above 10^14 GeV. The Grand Unified Theory states that for the three forces to merge together, the temperature of the universe has to be greater than 10^32 K. The GUT era lasted until the temperature of the universe dropped to about 10^29 K. at this point the GUT forces separated into electromagnetic and strong forces. This temperature was reached when the universe was at the young age of about 10^ 36 of a second. This sudden cooling caused something called inflation. Inflation was a rapid and sudden expansion of the universe. Basically the unified theories state that the four forces, strong, electromagnetic, weak, and gravitational will merge at extremely high temperatures. Although we have a few assumptions about the GUT, scientist have not been able to succeed in creating the details that have to do with a supergrand unified theory, also referred to as the theory of everything. To help explain how the four forces each play a role in today s universe today we need to know what they are. Gravity is probably one of the easiest of the four ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction International marketing or business is uniquely different from the local market because the product price, place and promotion is vastly different from what is been offered to local customers (Johansson, 2000) With the emergence of the information technology, cross border marketing has never been a distant dream. However, it has never been easier even for giant multinational companies to face challenges that come in international business. The biggest challenge comes from the culture which varies from country to country. At its basic understanding, international marketing engages the firm in making one or more marketing mix decisions across national boundaries. At its complex level, it involves the firm in establishing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, in any country whether they are Muslim or non Muslim state, when there are Muslim in the community they have to cater with halal certified meet as well chicken. Therefore, this cultural factor has major influence on KFC, McDonalds, as well as Pizza Hut or for that matter all companies who are involved in restaurant and food sector. Hotel chains in Saudi Arabia are been influenced by the culture of the society and the country. For instance, Hilton hotel chains in Saudi Arabia and close to the Mecca and Medina serves mostly to pilgrims rather than the tourist. Hence all activities in Hilton chain needs to be catered to religious cultural activities (Fallon, 2010). 2. Adaptation and standardization It was in the Fordism era in the early 19th century where standardization was the most widely used strategy across the industrialized countries (Johansson, 2000). Henry Ford when he manufactured Ford Car, the company produced only black Ford. Standardization refers a company providing the same identical product across the globe (Keegon, 2002). Most of the time they are considered to be global brands (Johanson, 2000). Some of the example that could be considered global brands is Coca Cola, McDonalds or Amazon. However, they too have some degree of adaptation in taste or price when it comes to marketing in a different market. Witches also honor their deities at monthly rites known asesbats, which are held on the full Moon, when the mind is thought to be more magically powerful. Sabbats begin at sunset and end at sunset the next day. Along with Sabbats there are festivals also known as rites, these are held at night. Rites take place in a consecrated space, the circle, and even if there is a temple, the circle space is created anew for each rite. The space is first swept with a broomstick or besom to purify it and then blessed with the four elements;air, fire, water and earth. The circle is then symbolically sealed by drawing a circle around it in the air with a wooden wand or a black handled knife known as an athame. The four directions; east, south, west and north ,are then honored. Within the sacred space, the Goddess and God are invoked and magic performed. Rituals usually end with blessing a chalice of wine and cakes that are shared among the participants.
