My Ethnographic Research
Ever since a few years ago I have always wanted to become a photographer. I feel as if photography
flows through my veins and out my finger to snap the perfect picture. I started out by taking pictures
of things in my backyard, and they turned out really good and ever sense then I have been taking
photography. As shy as I am going to Cranbrook has changed the way I look at my photography and
the way I look at the world in general, but most of all not being not so scared to meet new people. At
first I was extremely scared to go to the school, no part of me wanted to even go. But, when you get an
opportunity like what I did, take it! You won t regret it.

I have made friends from Paris, Russia, and Puerto Rico.
The first day was my favorite, I went to my art instructor and I saw a girl already by the teacher, and
there was about 7 kids in that class, so it was real easy to make friends. We started talking and I found
out she was from Paris. She was really nice and funny, and we had a lot in common too! She taught
me a few things in French as well. There were two kids from Russia, California, Paris, and North
Carolina. My camera is a Canon rebel EOS 5,000. Canon cameras are a bit expensive, mine was
around $1,400 $2,000.The first couple days you learn about the shutter speed, the aperture, and the
ways the lens work. So those were a few things I already knew about my camera, but I learned a lot of
different things that I didn t already know.
We all played a game to get to know each other. We took a piece of paper while the instructor gave us
an example, You start by folding the paper into fours, then write four things about you, but don t put
your name on it. Then fold it back up and put it in the box, The instructor stated.

Cirrhotic Essay
Abstract P.P.I therapy is often used in patients with cirrhosis, sometimes, in the absence of a specific
indication (e.g.: acid related diseases), there are conflicting reports for their use in cirrhotic patients.
The dosage of most PPIs should be reduced in cirrhotic as they are metabolized by the liver and
associated with adverse effects of prolonged use. We aimed to review strict indications and adverse
effects for their use in this group of patients. Keywords Proton pump inhibitors, liver cirrhosis, peptic
ulcer, H. pylori, esophageal band ligation. Abbreviations P.P.I: proton pump inhibitors. EVS:

A short course for 10 days post EVL may be reasonable if we concern for ulcer healing. However,
high dose infusion (e.g., pantoprazole 8 mg/h) and prolonged use in the absence of endoscopic
procedures is not supported by the literature and should be discouraged until evidence of benefit
becomes available. (8) GERD Functional studies showed decreased LES function with a low
amplitude of acid clearance and primary esophageal peristalsis in cirrhotics with large varices [9].
These phenomena could also be due to a mechanical effect of the varices. Cirrhotic patients without
EV have also esophageal motor disorders and mixed acid and bile reflux as the main pattern whereas
the cirrhosis itself was an important causative factor. It is unclear whether this might contribute to
bleeding from varices [8]. Data on management of GERD in cirrhosis are few, however, the
indications of use for PPIs may remain exactly the same also in patient with cirrhosis of the liver as
general population for the treatment of erosive esophagitis or in general the pathology secondary to
gastroesophageal reflux acid (10) Peptic ulcer and H. pylori infection Prevalence of duodenal and
gastric ulcers in patients with liver cirrhosis increases as the disease progress[11] and this prevalence
becomes higher in decompensated cirrhosis than in compensated cirrhosis [12]. Currently, PPIs are the
mainstay treatment option of peptic ulcers in the

Critiquing Critique
In the evolution from student to scholar, the process of critiquing assists in not only personal
development, but also professionally in the evolution from student to scholar. According to Cameron,
Nairn and Higgins (2009), the art of critiquing documents provides insight into another individuals
thought process which broadens development (page 45, para. 2). From a personal standpoint,
receiving a critique has the ability to incite insecurity and negative emotions from students; therefore,
the ability to grow from ones mistakes. The objective of providing feedback on a course of research is
to provide advice that may enhance an individual s work. Therefore, a student s attitude towards
receiving criticism and the method in which is it provided

Arguments In 12 Angry Men
The Arguments of 12 Angry Men In the film 12 Angry Men (1957), directed by Sidney Lumet, is a
film about a group of 12 jurors on a murder case. As the beginning of the film begins, the men are
seen entering the deliberation room to come to a consensus on the case that was assigned. In the case,
a young juvenile is being tried for the murder of his own father. If he is found guilty, the boy will be
sent to the chair and will die by execution. If he is found not guilty then he will live. As the 12 jurors
all sit down to make a beginning vote (aiming to create a unanimous consensus), only one of the men
votes that the defendant is not guilty of the presented charges. Juror #8, the opposition to everyone,

The argument started out with juror #8 stating that he didn t know if the kid was guilty or not, he just
believed that there were a lot of holes in the case that would lead him to believe there is reasonable
doubt in the conviction. Though this seemed like a weak argument, there were many different key
points that were made to undermine the original argument. Jumping from one fact to the next, juror #8
eventually persuaded the entire group to change their vote to not guilty. Juror #8, when presenting the
various portions of his argument, always remains calm, as well as the other men who eventually join
his side. Juror #4, though on the original position, actually provides a lot of this logical approach. He
admits that the opposition makes sense and when the argument overrides his, he admits he is wrong
and changes his vote. This type of argument, when proven with ethos and pathos, is successful and
will gain logical support to win the overall

The Experience of Media Violence for Children
Media Violence By the time a child reaches the age of one, they see about 200,000 acts of violence on
television. (Nakaya, 3). The Media has been becoming more and more violent over the years. A poll in
an issue of Times Magazine, from 2005, showed that 66 percent of Americans think that there is an
abundant amount of graphic acts of violence on televisions (Nakaya, 18). People are exposed to
thousands of acts of violence through video games, television, and movies. Many studies show that
media violence increases violent behavior in in humans. Studies show, violent video games, and
graphic television have physiological effects on children. The government has very few regulations on
media violence. Some people believe the government shouldn t limit content because others might be
insulted by its material. Even though the government shouldn t censor the media, Media violence is
becoming a serious issue because it is becoming more violent, it makes people behave violently, and it
has little regulations. The regularity and asperity of media violence has dramatically increased over
the years. Media violence is such a broad topic, so we cannot simple get rid of it. People are exposed
violent acts in the media everyday between video games, movies, and television. The Federal
Communications Commission stipulates, By the time most children begin the third grade, they will
have spent the equivalent of three school years in front of a television set. The Media has such a large

Theory of Successful Aging
Theory Of Successful Aging
INTERNAL CRITICISM
Adequacy: The Flood s Theory of Successful Aging (Flood, 2005) was developed to addresses a
nursing theory for care of the older adult regarding to the lack of nursing theory that offers clearly
delineated guidelines for care of aging. Flood s(2002) unique definition of successful aging among
other explanations includes mental, physical, and spiritual elements of the aging person and
emphasizing the individual s self appraisal. She used existing knowledge derived deductively from the
Roy adaptation model, one of the most widely accepted nursing theory model, and integrated these
ideas with Tornstam s sociological theory of gerotranscendence and literature related to the concept of
successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These concepts can be understood without lengthy descriptions and explanations. In this study, the
author employed a variation of deductive reformulation, a process involving the derivation of existing
knowledge from a non nursing theory integrated with knowledge obtained deductively from a nursing
conceptual model which would allow for a more logical presentation of how the components relate to
each other. Moreover, the model is exhibited in this paper is an elucidate of the theory s components
structure and would present the interrelationship of its components. The theory is parsimonious in that
it is clear and concise in explanations of the concepts (Bredow, 2009, p. 55).
Discrimination: The scientific process of deductive reformulation lends credibility and sound logic to
Flood s theory of successful aging. Flood, founder who is an advanced practice registered nurse, used
deductive reformulation to develop her theory of successful aging in nursing discipline. Without any
other useful theory of aging to guide nursing care, Flood s (2005) theory offers promise for nursing.
This theory provides a useful framework for interventions that target the mental, physical, and
spiritual health of aging persons. It would be able to produce hypotheses that will lead to research
results in older adult nursing research. However, there is no evidence of a nursing research using this
theory.

and the US Criminal Justice System. The Circle of Justice and the US Criminal Justice System are
both very good things, they both teach you a lesson, but in very different ways. The Circle of Justice
teaches you to become calm and be a better person, but the US Criminal Justice System punishes you
by giving you an amount of time in jail.
The Circle of Justice is a Native American form of justice, originating in Canada that seeks healing in
contrast to the regular punishment ways. Some of the good things about this is that you don t have to

The Breakfast Club Sociology
Screws fall out, the world is an imperfect place. The Breakfast Club. This quote captures the theme of
the movie of a flawed society in which cliques override human nature. The Breakfast Club is a
timeless movie as it shows a social hierarchy, human intuition, and the inevitable imperfections of life
that will always live on our world. The movie begins showing five social classes in detention for
different offences. Immediately the troublemaker begins his role by distinguishing the characteristics
of the others that group them into their social standing. He starts with the princess, pointing out how
she always gets what she wants, then the athlete for his boxing skills, the brain for his obvious
intelligence, and lastly the basket case for her strange behavior. In high schools of 2015 you can still
make out each of these social factions in this 1984 based high school. We can still distinguish the
princess with their designer wear that their guardians obviously paid for, the brains studying for the
test that s next week when everyone already knows they ll do exceptionally, the athletes who everyone

of a bad grade, the basket case is a compulsive liar, the athlete can t think for himself, and the criminal

Church as Institution and Church as Mystical Communion
Church as Institution and Church as Mystical Communion
In 1974 Dulles published Models of the Church to address questions concerning ecclesiology the
study of the church. Many people believe that they know the meaning of the church, which is a place
to become closer to God. However, there is more than what meets the eye when it comes to the
Church, since it is a very complex organization. Dulles book identifies and describes the different
functions the Church possesses which Jesus Christ founded and continues to oversee today. He
categorizes the models into five aspects: Church as institution, Church as mystical communion,
Church as sacrament, Church as herald, Church as servant, and lastly his new model Church as
community. In this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dulles states, It picks up the biblical theme that God has fashioned for himself a people feely
communicating his spirit and his gifts (50). The Body of Christ as stated in Dulles is, the main point of
mutual union, concern and dependence of the members of the local community upon one another,
(43). The body of Christ will only function is the whole community is willing to work together to
reach a personal growth in their relationship with God. Now that we have an idea of what Church as
mystical communion consists of I will discuss the strengths and weakness of this model. The strength
of this model is that emphasizes a shared life with the community instead of shutting them off. This is
a strength because when people come together as a whole everything holds so much more meaning
and people can form a stronger bond with God, now that it is much more personal and voluntary.
Another strength is that this model improves people spirituality and prayer life now that they feel that
personal connection that they formed. A weakness of this model is that it creates unsure relationship
between the visible and invisible, since Grace allows people to get closer to God through the invisible
such as communion while the visible structure like institutionalism tries to emphasize their power over
the whole people. I have discussed what the models mean, their strength and weakness of each so now
I will note the difference and

Correcting Wrong Site Anesthesia Errors

Abstract
There are number of issues facing healthcare in the United States that are not exclusive to one area
and often occur during routine tasks. Although many of these issues are addressed on a daily basis, the
need to fix them is still important. Medical errors are a continuous problem seen nationwide in
hospitals and surgical centers. More exclusively wrong site peripheral nerve blocks have been seen in
hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers across the United States (Hudson, Sullivan, 2012). The first

the risk factors associated with them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
See Figure 1 for a detailed example of the difference between popliteal and femoral nerve block
approaches.
There are a number of reasons why Medical errors occur and causes that can be addressed. Wrong site
anesthesia nerve blocks are preventable medical errors and the occurrences of these errors are a
concern for medical staff each day.
Because to Err is human, operating room staff members should have fail safe provisions in place in an
attempt to prevent wrong site nerve block errors from happening.
There are a number of potential causes of popliteal and femoral nerve block errors that can be broken
down into process factors and system factors. System factors focus on the lack of checklists, and the
exclusion of certain surgical teams members. Whereas, process factors focus on things like,
inadequate communication with team members or one patient having multiple procedures done.
(Mulloy Hughes, 2008) Table 1. Gives a more detail breakdown between system factors and process
factors that contribute to medical errors.
Benchmarking can be a successful tool to determine root causes and potential solutions to a problem.

Social Class Educational Structure in Brave New World
Introduction
Social stratification, or dividing people into classes, was and is still prevalent in society in many ways.
In every form division acts as an inhibitor for what certain citizens can do, but it helps form a stable
class structure as there is little mobility. Namely, stratification is most evident in the various realms of
education: elementary, secondary, and post secondary. The opportunities of specific classes to achieve
feats in education is often extremely disproportionate (Benson,1989, p. 159) leaving lower classes at
the bottom of society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brave New World Classes. Alphas, Betas, Gammas, and Epsilons, all of these common group names
make up the bulk of the class system in Huxley s Brave New World. Social stratification prevails in
this make believe society and is seen as a large contributor to the differing levels of intellectual
soundness of the different cast members. Citizens of Brave New World are engineered in order to be
either genius or dumb as a nail (Huxley, 1932, p. 25). Huxley (1932, p. 18) described the entire
process as a major instrument of social stability for the community. By depriving the lover classes of
any intelligent prowess(opportunities) a secure society was forged in the eyes of the Authorities.
Differences in Education. In order to make the society even more secure the leaders opened the doors
of universities to the best and brightest that were decanted. I found that the top schools, like Eton
(Huxley, 1932, p. 148), in the book were only made available to the most formidable thinkers. Such a
system confirms my hypothesis that there was a vast difference in just what chances different groups
had at getting an education. Simply the fact that these discrepancies exist demonstrates the power of
social class in education. Differences in opportunities. Social stratification affected education and
many other aspects of society. While the Alphas and Betas were playing obstacle golf the Epsilons and
Gammas were busy battling the many

The Life Of The Divine Comedy
A piece of literature written to walk people through life, and what is waiting for them after. The Divine
Comedy was written by a man of politics, relating his content to the events of his everyday life.
Moving deeper into the substance of the writing, there are three major sections represented, Inferno,
Purgatorio, and Paradiso. Furthermore, we will take a look at the nine circles of hell depicted in the
Divine Comedy.
Dante Alghieri s life leading up to the writing the Divine Comedy. Dante was known for engaging in
political agenda through his life and his writing. He was so into politics that he ran, and was elected as
one of the six priors of Florence in 1300. The priors were seen as a high group in the public eye and
only solidified his involvement in the government. His reign couldn t last forever though, and he was
exiled by the Black Guelfs upon their return to power. Dante greatly incorporated Florence politics
and society into the Divine Comedy because of his experience and knowledge on the subjects. Dante
is recorded to have traveled city to city in the hopes of finding military assistance in finding justice for
his unjust exile (Kumar . ) Along with that, he wanted to fight to bring the White Guelfs back in
power. Bringing this idea together, Akash Kumar wrote, settling for a presence in the court of certain
signori (political and military leaders) such as the Malaspina family in Lunigiana, Cangrande della
Scala in Verona, and finally Guido Novello of Ravenna.

Charles W. Chesnutt s The Passing Of Grandison
All throughout history humans have always tried to gain power over each other. In America it was the
white people who believed all others were inferior and should be treated as such, thus enslaved these
people. Many slave owners felt that it was their duty to take care of these slaves because they were not
mature enough to take care of themselves. The Passing of Grandison By Charles W. Chesnutt
Grandison is a slave owned by the Owens family. The plantation owner thinks Grandison is dumb and
incapable of being independent from the plantation. Thus Colonel Owens thinks Grandison is a good

also mentions to Dick to keep your eyes and ears open to find out what the abolitionists are saying and
doing. They re becoming altogether too active for our comfort, and too many ungrateful niggers are
running away. The irony here is that Dick is trying to get whichever slave he takes with him to run
away. His father is telling him to find out what the abolitionists are doing to abolish slavery and bring
the information back to the south. The Colonel is trying to keep his property safe from the north but
has no idea that letting Dick bring a slave up north is exactly the opposite of keeping them safe.
Chesnutt lets the reader in on Dick s secret leaving them to believe that they know all the secrets of
the story but the reader has no idea about grandison. Dick wants to take Tom up north knowing that he

prosperity but he lefts when he sees the reality of East, a dark place, full of evil and corruption, where
happiness does not exist unless one is living in an illusionary world. All people want is success

Anyone that is well situated into the world of literature knows of the literacy genius Edgar Allen Poe.
Most of Poe s works do not have the slightest bit of joy or happiness in them. His literature mainly
consists of a dark and gothic mood; mostly due to the fact that his actual life was worse than his
stories. For those who have read a few of his stories or poems you might notice a similarity in plot. In
his works The Cask of Amontillado, The Black Cat, and The Tell Tale Heart, there is clear similarity
of plot between the three stories.
In The Cask of Amontillado, the reader is introduced to two characters, Montresor and Fortunato.

that appeared in his head, about an old man he takes care of, that has haunted him day and night.
There was not a desideratum or reason for it, but he says it might have been his eye that resembled
those of a vulture. The man came up with the plan to take the old mans life over his eye. He stated I
was never kinder to the old man than during the whole week before I killed him. And every night
about midnight I turned the latch of his door and opened it oh, so gently! And then, when I had made
an opening sufficient for my head, I put in a dark lantern all closed, closed so that no light shone out,

Advantages Of Electric Car
2. Introduction
2.1 Statement of the Problem
Nowadays, the using of electro car becomes more popular over the world. Most of the people will
drive for work or travel in Zhuhai, and the using of fossil fuel car can cause environmental problem
such as climate change, global warming. Environmental problems are more serious than before. Air
pollution could be caused by releasing off gas from fuel vehicle. The using of electro car is not only
benefit for the environmental problem, but also good for economic development. On the other hand,
there are still a lot of problems need to be solved if we want to popularize the use of electro car in
Zhuhai, such as the limitation of driving distance and long charging time. These kinds of
disadvantages will affect the citizen s willingness of choosing electro car. So we want to find out the
factors that influence Zhuhai citizen willingness of using electro car.

As we know that, electric car is an automobile that using electrical energy propelled by one or more
electric device such as battery. This kind of power will cause the problem of limiting of driving
distance, and the car should charge for the battery again in order to drive for a longer distance. Many
electric designs have limited range, due to the low energy density of batteries compared to the fuel
vehicles. Electric cars mostly have less limited distance for one charge, but fossil fueled cars can
travel for long travel. But they can need time to recharge. On the other hand, electric car can be
charged at home at night, while fossil fueled cars cannot. In America, 71 percent of car drivers drive
less than 40 miles a day, and just for a quick topping up. (UC Davis, 2011).Which means that the
driving distance of electro car is less than fuel vehicle, and the distance of charging is not enough for a

The Obligation Of Pope Francis To The Catholic Church
Pope Francis has condemned the corrupt people who donate dirty money to the Catholic Church,
saying their tainted donations are not wanted.
On Wednesday, Pope Francis addressed the crowd at the St. Peter s Square and referenced the book of
Isaiah in the Bible. The pontiff said God does not want offerings given by hands tainted by blood,
according to the Catholic News Agency.
Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me...when you spread forth your hands, I
will hide my eyes from you, Pope Francis quoted from the Bible. Even though you make many
prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.
The leader of the Catholic Church warned benefactors who donate money that came from the labor of

The Character Analysis Of The Film Smoke Signals
It s a good day to be indigenous! (00:04:55 00:04:56) says Randy Peone, the voice of the KREZ radio,
setting the mood for the whole film, Smoke Signals. Smoke Signals is about Native Americans,
specifically Thomas Builds The Fire, played by Evan Adams, and Victor Joseph, played by Adam
Beach, that live on the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation. The story follows these two proud to be
Indian boys all the way through their adulthood. The audience gets to see their relationship develop
from distant friends to a brother like bond. This film is a Native American masterpiece; however, I
believe that the true magic lies in the work of Evan Adams. As soon as Thomas enters on screen, the
audience falls in love. He wears two side braids, nice suits, and a huge smile plastered across his face.
At the beginning of the film, he is a happy and curious kid that is everything but refreshing to his
friend Victor. They both have known each other their entire lives. One thing that is truly captivating
about Evan s performance is his ability to truly encapsulate his character. While watching the film, one
can really see the emotion and feeling in his eyes and in his voice. In part in particular, he says, So
then he [Arnold, Victor s father] took me to Denny s. It was afternoon ya know and I still had the
Grand Slam Breakfast, two eggs, two sausages, two slices of bacon, and pancakes, and some juice,
and milk! Ya know, some days, it s a good day to die, some days, it s a good day to

Research Paper On West Indies Cricket
West Indies cricket, the envy of the world for decades past because of its exiting and brilliant batsmen,
fast and furious fast bowlers, and its acrobatic fielders, and undisputed champions of the world for 19
years up to 1995, is now at rock bottom and looks like getting deeper and deeper.
In fact, based on the events of this week, and after all that have gone on in the past 15 or 20 years, a
good bet is that the West Indies days are numbered.
Top Eight Teams
Although it is common knowledge that the West Indies have lost 80 of 132 Test matches while
winning only 14 against the top eight teams since losing 5 0 to England in 2000 and 5 0 to Australia in
2000 1, and have failed to qualify for the Champions Trophy while Bangladesh have done ... Show

The West Indies players, however, would be comfortable if they were to be, as they are now,
subsidised by the cricket world from the money earned by the money spinners elsewhere in the world.
Is it right for the non West Indies player to run around in the sun day after day for days at a time and
then sit down and twiddle his thumbs, with nothing to do or eat, just looking on from the outside?
No, it is not right, it was never right, and it can never be right.
The West Indies Cricket Board has made many mistakes in their time, but this is not one. This is one
to produce for West Indies cricket. This is one to ensure that what is happening now never happens
again. This is one for West Indies cricket.
According To Merit
West Indies cricket is not the West Indies team alone. It is the West Indies teams and West Indies
cricketers, all West Indian cricketers. And every penny belongs to the West Indies to be added up,
divided up fairly and equitably, and to be distributed to the players according to merit and on value to

If I Wanted A Real World Experience As A Planner
If I wanted a real world experience as a planner, then I certainly received it at this hearing. I can
honestly say that I don t envy the Board of Zoning Adjustments. This was the most difficult and
complicated hearing we had in class and I believe everyone rose to the challenge. The amount of prep
work required for all parties greatly increased with this hearing due to the scientific nature of the
proposal. All groups were sufficiently prepared and performed exceptionally well considering the
difficulty of the case. I am speaking as a BOZA member, but I believe the decision for a continuance
was the best outcome, taking into account how the hearing played out. The applicants had a tough job.
I commend them for meeting with the community and agreeing to change the chemicals used in the
process to help ease safety concerns. This created a more open dialogue between the community and
the applicant; it allowed the community to truly have their voices heard with an actual response. This
did, however, create a substantial amount of work for the applicant. Changing the process required a
major increase in research in a complicated subject matter. Having to focus so much on explaining the
changed process seemed to consume the vast majority of their presentation. While correctly explaining
it was important, they could ve focused more on exactly how they were meeting the Land
Development Code, Cornerstone 2020 s Goals, and the Ohio River Master Plan. As board members

With that in mind, it is apparent then that relying on the US for military assistance in the event of a
Chinese attack is useless. What the Philippines need is a military alliance of committed nations who
have more or less the same stake in the South China Sea territorial dispute. That being said, the most
logical choice would be creating an alliance with our fellow
ASEAN claimant nations.
2. REGIONAL COLLECTIVE DEFENSE: ATTEMPT AND FAILURE
The idea of creating an international organization for collective defense in the SEA region to offset
growing Chinese influence is not new to international politics. In fact it was once tried with the
signing of the Southeast Asia Collective Defense Treaty or Manila Pact, in
Manila, Philippines which created the South East Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO). The
organization was then formally established on February 19, 1955 at a meeting of treaty partners in
Bangkok, Thailand.5 One of the rationales for the creation of SEATO was to counteract communist

Working With The Current Industrial Placement Student
Month 1: The Role Majority of students in placement have at least two week hand over period
working and learning alongside the current industrial placement student. As for me, I had no hand
over period nor did I had any induction or training to kick start my placement year. From day one, I
was introduced to all sort of tasks that needed to be completed and the deadlines by which completion
was required. After my manager instructed me how to do my tasks once. I was given the opportunity
to work by myself on the tasks at hand. The role has me working alongside the European Commercial
and Bids Pricing (C BP) team in identifying trends on the pricing behaviour in certain product
segments and market condition across Europe. The report is heavily based on Microsoft Excel and
will be key for the country pricing managers across Europe to benchmark their decisions. This will
allow me to develop my excel skills by improve my formula, formatting and error correction skills.
While I was taught how to deal with the standard process by my manager, any problems that occur
need to be dealt with intuitive knowledge gained about excel and how Xerox s reporting system
works. Also, I am developing the pricing library and maintaining the website for European
commercial and Bids pricing. On top of this, I am also involved in a number of ad hoc projects to
support various activities within the European (C BP), such as supporting the pricing set up of new

What Is Ifemelu Moving Back To America

statement being Ifemelu s move back to Nigeria after many years of experience in America has
changed her cultural identity.
The beginning of the chapter at the moment Ifemelu arrived back in her homeland of America in
Nigeria. At first Lagos assaulted her; the sun dazed haste, the yellow buses full of squashed limbs, the
sweating hikers racing cars, the advertisements on hulking billboards (others scrawled on walls

speedboat was gliding on foaming water, past beaches of ivory sand, and trees bursting, well fed
green. Ifemelu was laughing/ she caught herself in mid laughter, and looked at her present, an orange
life jacket strapped around her, a ship in the graying distance, her friends in their sunglasses, on their
way to Priye s friend s beach house, where they would grill meat and race barefoot. She thought: I m
really home, I m home (506 Adichie) Connecting to the claim, Ifemelu emotional identity sets back to
her past towards her future. Here it states that Ifemelu feels home again, she feels more comfortable
with where she originally is from as in her home country, instead of having an American culture from
America, she starts to actually settle in and enjoy herself again like before she moved from Nigeria to
America. This supports the claim of identity because Ifemelu shifted from being offended when she
came back to Nigeria from America and then she then started to try to get settled in naturally by just

Loyalty In Julius Caesar
In Shakespeare s play, Julius Caesar, the character Mark Antony remains the same throughout the play
making him a static character. Antony s character has a wide variety of character traits but most of
them remain unchanged throughout the play. And so even though Antony is a well rounded character
he is still static because his many character traits remain the same. Some examples of Antony s traits
that remain constant are his loyalty to Caesar, his manipulative behavior, his selfishness, and his
honor. Antony is loyal to Caesar from the beginning of the play through the end of it. He shows his
loyalty to Caesar at the beginning of the play when he says I shall remember: when Caesar says do
this, it is perform d. (1, 2, 93). When Antony says this he is only responding to Caesar s request to
touch his wife Calphurnia as he runs past in a race but this still shows Antony s willingness to follow
what Caesar says. When Antony says this he is essentially stating that he is willing to follow any order
that Caesar gives him to demonstrate his loyalty. Antony demonstrates his loyalty again later in the
play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His first display of honor was when after Caesar was killed he vowed to seek revenge by saying
domestic fury and civil strife will cumber all the parts of Italy (3, 1, 278 279). Antony believes that a
civil war is what is needed to stop the conspirators from gaining power and to avenge Caesar s death.
This part of the play shows that Antony is honorable because he is respecting his friend by avenging
his wrongful death. At the end of the play Antony has another display of honor when he pays respect
to Brutus by saying this was the noblest Roman of them all (5, 5, 74). In this line Antony recognizes
Brutus s integrity. He shows that he has respect for Brutus s character even though he was one of the
conspirators. Antony s honor remains with him for the entire course of the play making it a constant

The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment Essay
The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment The Tuskegee Syphilis experiment (The official name was
Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male) began in the 1930 s. It was an experiment
on African Americans to study syphilis and how it affected the body and killed its victims done by
Tuskegee Institute U.S. Public Health Service researchers. The initial purpose of the Syphilis study
was to record the natural history of syphilis in Blacks (Tuskegee University, About the USPHS
Syphilis Study, par. 2). The study was necessary because syphilis was a disease that didn t yet have an
official cure (when the study began in the 30 s). There were 600 men in all; 399 had syphilis and 201

The Mississippi Appendectomy Study The Mississippi Appendectomy study started taking place in the
1920 s. The experiment consisted of excessive hysterectomies on many women mainly in the Deep
South. Poor Black women were the main focus of the experiments as well as disabled women and
women that the physicians thought were not worthy of reproducing. Young, less experienced doctors
were told to perform the sterilization process so that they had a chance to practice the procedure (50).
The experiment was unnecessary and served no true, ethical purpose. The doctors believed it was in
order to perform the hysterectomies because the women seemed unfit to have children and to give the
younger surgeons practice. In detail, while the women were having an appendectomy (removal of the
appendix), the doctors would perform the hysterectomies which were unrelated to the problem with
the patients appendix. Therefore, the hysterectomies were uncalled for since the women had no
knowledge of the additional procedure and didn t give consent (University of Maryland, Mississippi
Appendectomy , par. 1). These procedures resulted in the women deprived of their right to reproduce
and no significant benefits to science. The Mississippi Appendectomy had no significant effect on
medical history either since no major laws

Grave of the Fireflies
Released in 1988, Grave of the Fireflies is the story of Seita and his younger sister Setsuko, who lost
their mother and father through different events of World War II. As a result they are forced to try to
survive, any way they can, though their efforts are finally lost when Setsuko dies of malnutrition, and
Seita dies not long after. It s based on a semi autobiographic book by the same name, whose author
lost his sister due to malnutrition in 1945 during the war. The main value shown throughout the film is

They lost a lot, but what remained with them was their patriotism for their country, and pride; which,
in the end, was nullified anyway. Japan s pride caused great damage to the nation. The war had been
going on for a while, but in 1943, Japanese leaders realised that the war was probably lost. They ended
up wanting to stop, they just didn t know how to. It was a case of Once you get in, you can t get out

Audience reactions to certain sections of the movie weren t the same. Different cultures saw things in

people sympathized and agreed with Seita s choice to not return to his aunt. This reflected on the pride

Texas Tax Rebates
There is no doubt that Texas s state government is one of the most conservative in the nation on both
an economic and social level. As a governing body Texas has fought to deregulate itself on the bases
that a weak government translates to strong personal liberties. The political culture of the state is
apparent to all who live there. However, in recent history Texas has proven to be a solid competitor
when offering tax rebates to filmmakers and videogame creators who produce their content in the
state. These rebates refund some of the production costs and are widely considered to be beneficial to
employment within the state s entertainment and tourism industry (Weed). Sadly, in 2015 Texas
lawmakers cut the previously impressive budget for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The argument comes from the fiscally conservative mindset, arguing that using taxpayer money for
non necessities, like film is wasteful. However, this view overlooks that the state s rebate program
exists as an investment that the state will eventually make profit on in the form of economic growth
through employment. The legislation providing such rebates likely would never have existed in the
first place if it were not economically beneficial to the state. Additionally, providing rebates is more
likely to attract production of the benefit films that have tighter budgets and have trouble breaking
even, rather than the stereotypical big budget films, meaning that rebates could mean the difference of
a production company moving forward with riskier films or not. The Hollywood welfare argument is a
politically expedient one because of the way Hollywood is viewed politically in present day American
culture. Many on America s rightwing view Hollywood as a big elitist organization with a liberal
political agenda. Rhetoric like Hollywood welfare truly is a representation of the divisive nature of
modern times. Schimmel writes in an essay regarding rhetoric that language affects our perception and
understanding of social and political realities, irrespective of how accurately it reflects them.
Conservative state politicians have capitalized on the preconditioned distrust conservatives have
toward Hollywood paired with the negative connotations that the political right has associated with
welfare has led to film tax incentives taking major blows, especially in predominantly conservative

Persuasive Essay On Happiness
We live in America, a country that is rather prosperous in comparison to many other countries in the
world. In order to get to where this country is today wars were started, people enslaved, and countries
exploited. The greater majority s happiness was derived from another humans suffering. This has
occurred throughout the majority of human history and continues into today s society. While we may
see this as the wrong way to live we don t mind sustaining our prosperity. Just as Jesus Christ suffered
for the sake of humanity s sins, much of what gives us happiness unmistakably generates affliction
around the globe. Just as every action has an equal or opposite reaction, every choice has a
repercussion whether we know it or not. Our world is reminiscent of a yin yang symbol, the white side
representing our happiness and the black side the pain and suffering that got us there. By choosing our
advantage over what is right, staying ignorant, and entanglement in consumerism our happiness is the
offspring of despair somewhere in the world. We are all guilty of encountering happiness that was in
some way the byproduct of someone s suffering. Whether we realize it or not does not mean we are
not guilty of the same sin. For example, I went to a job interview a few months ago and there were
two other gentlemen that were far more qualified than me interviewing as well. We all needed and
wanted the job equally although the job was granted to me because I knew a general manager at the
company. I chose success in exchange for the other gentlemen suffering a declined job offer. A lot of
the time we don t even realize the suffering that our decisions cause or that suffering even occurred.
America has been at war for nearly half of its existence to protect our rights and liberty. While we are
safe and happy within our own borders both our soldiers and the country we are fighting are suffering
immensely. For many years America endorsed slavery as free labor to create a happier society for
white people. In these examples, many people are suffering for the sake of the America or particular
race s happiness. While much of this is uncontrollable for the majority we still have to face the facts
that our happiness

Analysis Of Blair Witch Project
Semiotic Analysis on Blair Witch Project Blair Witch Project is regarded the first of its time, a horror
film in a documentary style movie. The release of the film in 1999 marked a new phase in the creation
of films. The Blair Witch Project set a benchmark for production of films of different genres,
especially for horror movies. The fixtures of the genre, horror films, have long being characterized by
the presence of graphical violence and torture by villains like monsters, ghosts, demons and madmen
or psychopaths. Prior to the release of the Blair Witch Project, most horror movies were developing in
many ways especially in the storyline and justifications of the supernatural characters and scenes.
Blair Witch Project was very special in many ways, using mystery, suspense and foreshadowing to
create the intense fear and scare in the audience. Since the 1980s, the horror movies have changed
dramatically. With every new experience through innovation, in the film industry, the horror films are
expected to change with time, and in a whole new dimension. The film Blair Witch Project, produced
in 1999, has had an incredible impact and influence, which very few films have had over the years. It
is arguably among the scariest and most frightening horror film to date. It is a one of a kind on the
basis that it being a horror film, it does not possess the characteristics of generally known horror
movies. Throughout the whole film, we find no violence content like torture or graphic

They dreamed of murders that were going to happen. But the government sees it as a way to make the

  • 2. My Ethnographic Research Ever since a few years ago I have always wanted to become a photographer. I feel as if photography flows through my veins and out my finger to snap the perfect picture. I started out by taking pictures of things in my backyard, and they turned out really good and ever sense then I have been taking photography. As shy as I am going to Cranbrook has changed the way I look at my photography and the way I look at the world in general, but most of all not being not so scared to meet new people. At first I was extremely scared to go to the school, no part of me wanted to even go. But, when you get an opportunity like what I did, take it! You won t regret it. Over the summer I was accepted into the school Cranbrook because of my photography, you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have made friends from Paris, Russia, and Puerto Rico. The first day was my favorite, I went to my art instructor and I saw a girl already by the teacher, and there was about 7 kids in that class, so it was real easy to make friends. We started talking and I found out she was from Paris. She was really nice and funny, and we had a lot in common too! She taught me a few things in French as well. There were two kids from Russia, California, Paris, and North Carolina. My camera is a Canon rebel EOS 5,000. Canon cameras are a bit expensive, mine was around $1,400 $2,000.The first couple days you learn about the shutter speed, the aperture, and the ways the lens work. So those were a few things I already knew about my camera, but I learned a lot of different things that I didn t already know. We all played a game to get to know each other. We took a piece of paper while the instructor gave us an example, You start by folding the paper into fours, then write four things about you, but don t put your name on it. • 3. Cirrhotic Essay Abstract P.P.I therapy is often used in patients with cirrhosis, sometimes, in the absence of a specific indication (e.g.: acid related diseases), there are conflicting reports for their use in cirrhotic patients. The dosage of most PPIs should be reduced in cirrhotic as they are metabolized by the liver and associated with adverse effects of prolonged use. We aimed to review strict indications and adverse effects for their use in this group of patients. Keywords Proton pump inhibitors, liver cirrhosis, peptic ulcer, H. pylori, esophageal band ligation. Abbreviations P.P.I: proton pump inhibitors. EVS: esophageal variceal Sclerotherapy. EVL: esophageal variceal ligation. HE: hepatic encephalopathy. SBP: spontaneous bacterial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A short course for 10 days post EVL may be reasonable if we concern for ulcer healing. However, high dose infusion (e.g., pantoprazole 8 mg/h) and prolonged use in the absence of endoscopic procedures is not supported by the literature and should be discouraged until evidence of benefit becomes available. (8) GERD Functional studies showed decreased LES function with a low amplitude of acid clearance and primary esophageal peristalsis in cirrhotics with large varices [9]. These phenomena could also be due to a mechanical effect of the varices. Cirrhotic patients without EV have also esophageal motor disorders and mixed acid and bile reflux as the main pattern whereas the cirrhosis itself was an important causative factor. It is unclear whether this might contribute to bleeding from varices [8]. Data on management of GERD in cirrhosis are few, however, the indications of use for PPIs may remain exactly the same also in patient with cirrhosis of the liver as general population for the treatment of erosive esophagitis or in general the pathology secondary to gastroesophageal reflux acid (10) Peptic ulcer and H. pylori infection Prevalence of duodenal and gastric ulcers in patients with liver cirrhosis increases as the disease progress[11] and this prevalence becomes higher in decompensated cirrhosis than in compensated cirrhosis [12]. According to Cameron, Nairn and Higgins (2009), the art of critiquing documents provides insight into another individuals thought process which broadens development (page 45, para. 2). As the beginning of the film begins, the men are seen entering the deliberation room to come to a consensus on the case that was assigned. In the case, a young juvenile is being tried for the murder of his own father. If he is found guilty, the boy will be sent to the chair and will die by execution. If he is found not guilty then he will live. As the 12 jurors all sit down to make a beginning vote (aiming to create a unanimous consensus), only one of the men votes that the defendant is not guilty of the presented charges. The argument started out with juror #8 stating that he didn t know if the kid was guilty or not, he just believed that there were a lot of holes in the case that would lead him to believe there is reasonable doubt in the conviction. Though this seemed like a weak argument, there were many different key points that were made to undermine the original argument. Jumping from one fact to the next, juror #8 eventually persuaded the entire group to change their vote to not guilty. Juror #8, when presenting the various portions of his argument, always remains calm, as well as the other men who eventually join his side. Juror #4, though on the original position, actually provides a lot of this logical approach. He admits that the opposition makes sense and when the argument overrides his, he admits he is wrong and changes his vote. This type of argument, when proven with ethos and pathos, is successful and will gain logical support to win the overall ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, the model is exhibited in this paper is an elucidate of the theory s components structure and would present the interrelationship of its components. The theory is parsimonious in that it is clear and concise in explanations of the concepts (Bredow, 2009, p. 55). Discrimination: The scientific process of deductive reformulation lends credibility and sound logic to Flood s theory of successful aging. Flood, founder who is an advanced practice registered nurse, used deductive reformulation to develop her theory of successful aging in nursing discipline. Without any other useful theory of aging to guide nursing care, Flood s (2005) theory offers promise for nursing. This theory provides a useful framework for interventions that target the mental, physical, and spiritual health of aging persons. This quote captures the theme of the movie of a flawed society in which cliques override human nature. Many people believe that they know the meaning of the church, which is a place to become closer to God. However, there is more than what meets the eye when it comes to the Church, since it is a very complex organization. Dulles book identifies and describes the different functions the Church possesses which Jesus Christ founded and continues to oversee today. The Body of Christ as stated in Dulles is, the main point of mutual union, concern and dependence of the members of the local community upon one another, (43). The body of Christ will only function is the whole community is willing to work together to reach a personal growth in their relationship with God. Now that we have an idea of what Church as mystical communion consists of I will discuss the strengths and weakness of this model. The strength of this model is that emphasizes a shared life with the community instead of shutting them off. This is a strength because when people come together as a whole everything holds so much more meaning and people can form a stronger bond with God, now that it is much more personal and voluntary. Another strength is that this model improves people spirituality and prayer life now that they feel that personal connection that they formed. A weakness of this model is that it creates unsure relationship between the visible and invisible, since Grace allows people to get closer to God through the invisible such as communion while the visible structure like institutionalism tries to emphasize their power over the whole people. I have discussed what the models mean, their strength and weakness of each so now I will note the difference and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social Class Educational Structure in Brave New World Social Class Educational Structure in Brave New World Nathan Dominique West Forsyth High School 5/4/2015 Social Class Educational Structure in Brave New World Introduction Social stratification, or dividing people into classes, was and is still prevalent in society in many ways. In every form division acts as an inhibitor for what certain citizens can do, but it helps form a stable class structure as there is little mobility. Namely, stratification is most evident in the various realms of education: elementary, secondary, and post secondary. The opportunities of specific classes to achieve feats in education is often extremely disproportionate (Benson,1989, p. 159) leaving lower classes at the bottom of society. ... Citizens of Brave New World are engineered in order to be either genius or dumb as a nail (Huxley, 1932, p. 25). Huxley (1932, p. 18) described the entire process as a major instrument of social stability for the community. By depriving the lover classes of any intelligent prowess(opportunities) a secure society was forged in the eyes of the Authorities. Differences in Education. In order to make the society even more secure the leaders opened the doors of universities to the best and brightest that were decanted. I found that the top schools, like Eton (Huxley, 1932, p. 148), in the book were only made available to the most formidable thinkers. Such a system confirms my hypothesis that there was a vast difference in just what chances different groups had at getting an education. Simply the fact that these discrepancies exist demonstrates the power of social class in education. Differences in opportunities. The Divine Comedy was written by a man of politics, relating his content to the events of his everyday life. Moving deeper into the substance of the writing, there are three major sections represented, Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. Furthermore, we will take a look at the nine circles of hell depicted in the Divine Comedy. Dante Alghieri s life leading up to the writing the Divine Comedy. Dante was known for engaging in political agenda through his life and his writing. He was so into politics that he ran, and was elected as one of the six priors of Florence in 1300. The priors were seen as a high group in the public eye and only solidified his involvement in the government. His reign couldn t last forever though, and he was exiled by the Black Guelfs upon their return to power. Dante greatly incorporated Florence politics and society into the Divine Comedy because of his experience and knowledge on the subjects. Dante is recorded to have traveled city to city in the hopes of finding military assistance in finding justice for his unjust exile (Kumar . ) Along with that, he wanted to fight to bring the White Guelfs back in power. Bringing this idea together, Akash Kumar wrote, settling for a presence in the court of certain signori (political and military leaders) such as the Malaspina family in Lunigiana, Cangrande della Scala in Verona, and finally Guido Novello of Ravenna. ... Smoke Signals is about Native Americans, specifically Thomas Builds The Fire, played by Evan Adams, and Victor Joseph, played by Adam Beach, that live on the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation. The story follows these two proud to be Indian boys all the way through their adulthood. The audience gets to see their relationship develop from distant friends to a brother like bond. This film is a Native American masterpiece; however, I believe that the true magic lies in the work of Evan Adams. As soon as Thomas enters on screen, the audience falls in love. She thought: I m really home, I m home (506 Adichie) Connecting to the claim, Ifemelu emotional identity sets back to her past towards her future. Here it states that Ifemelu feels home again, she feels more comfortable with where she originally is from as in her home country, instead of having an American culture from America, she starts to actually settle in and enjoy herself again like before she moved from Nigeria to America. This supports the claim of identity because Ifemelu shifted from being offended when she came back to Nigeria from America and then she then started to try to get settled in naturally by just letting the days pass ... • 30. Loyalty In Julius Caesar In Shakespeare s play, Julius Caesar, the character Mark Antony remains the same throughout the play making him a static character. Antony s character has a wide variety of character traits but most of them remain unchanged throughout the play. And so even though Antony is a well rounded character he is still static because his many character traits remain the same. Some examples of Antony s traits that remain constant are his loyalty to Caesar, his manipulative behavior, his selfishness, and his honor. Antony is loyal to Caesar from the beginning of the play through the end of it. He shows his loyalty to Caesar at the beginning of the play when he says I shall remember: when Caesar says do this, it is perform d. (1, 2, 93). When Antony says this he is only responding to Caesar s request to touch his wife Calphurnia as he runs past in a race but this still shows Antony s willingness to follow what Caesar says. When Antony says this he is essentially stating that he is willing to follow any order that Caesar gives him to demonstrate his loyalty. Antony demonstrates his loyalty again later in the play ... His first display of honor was when after Caesar was killed he vowed to seek revenge by saying domestic fury and civil strife will cumber all the parts of Italy (3, 1, 278 279). Antony believes that a civil war is what is needed to stop the conspirators from gaining power and to avenge Caesar s death. This part of the play shows that Antony is honorable because he is respecting his friend by avenging his wrongful death. At the end of the play Antony has another display of honor when he pays respect to Brutus by saying this was the noblest Roman of them all (5, 5, 74). In this line Antony recognizes Brutus s integrity. He shows that he has respect for Brutus s character even though he was one of the conspirators. Antony s honor remains with him for the entire course of the play making it a constant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment Essay The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment The Tuskegee Syphilis experiment (The official name was Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male) began in the 1930 s. It was an experiment on African Americans to study syphilis and how it affected the body and killed its victims done by Tuskegee Institute U.S. Public Health Service researchers. The initial purpose of the Syphilis study was to record the natural history of syphilis in Blacks (Tuskegee University, About the USPHS Syphilis Study, par. 2). The study was necessary because syphilis was a disease that didn t yet have an official cure (when the study began in the 30 s). It was unethical because the subjects were unaware of the consequences and denied the treatment for their disease. The Mississippi Appendectomy Study The Mississippi Appendectomy study started taking place in the 1920 s. The experiment consisted of excessive hysterectomies on many women mainly in the Deep South. Poor Black women were the main focus of the experiments as well as disabled women and women that the physicians thought were not worthy of reproducing. Young, less experienced doctors were told to perform the sterilization process so that they had a chance to practice the procedure (50). The experiment was unnecessary and served no true, ethical purpose. The doctors believed it was in order to perform the hysterectomies because the women seemed unfit to have children and to give the younger surgeons practice. In detail, while the women were having an appendectomy (removal of the appendix), the doctors would perform the hysterectomies which were unrelated to the problem with the patients appendix. Therefore, the hysterectomies were uncalled for since the women had no knowledge of the additional procedure and didn t give consent (University of Maryland, Mississippi Appendectomy , par. 1). These procedures resulted in the women deprived of their right to reproduce and no significant benefits to science. The Mississippi Appendectomy had no significant effect on medical history either since no major laws ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They lost a lot, but what remained with them was their patriotism for their country, and pride; which, in the end, was nullified anyway. Japan s pride caused great damage to the nation. The war had been going on for a while, but in 1943, Japanese leaders realised that the war was probably lost. They ended up wanting to stop, they just didn t know how to. It was a case of Once you get in, you can t get out because pride is on the line . This resulted in more unnecessary ; of people. Seita s pride reflected the pride of Japan during the war. Upon leaving his aunt s house and realising that he can t survive without her support, he decides not to return, and stick with what he s got. His pride gets in the way of his rational thought process, because he knew he couldn t take care of Setsuko alone. Audience reactions to certain sections of the movie weren t the same. Different cultures saw things in the way that they thought was right. For example, when the film was shown to a Japanese audience, people sympathized and agreed with Seita s choice to not return to his aunt. This reflected on the pride of their nation, and how they ve been brought up; to keep their pride. • 33. Texas Tax Rebates There is no doubt that Texas s state government is one of the most conservative in the nation on both an economic and social level. As a governing body Texas has fought to deregulate itself on the bases that a weak government translates to strong personal liberties. The political culture of the state is apparent to all who live there. However, in recent history Texas has proven to be a solid competitor when offering tax rebates to filmmakers and videogame creators who produce their content in the state. These rebates refund some of the production costs and are widely considered to be beneficial to employment within the state s entertainment and tourism industry (Weed). Sadly, in 2015 Texas lawmakers cut the previously impressive budget for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The argument comes from the fiscally conservative mindset, arguing that using taxpayer money for non necessities, like film is wasteful. However, this view overlooks that the state s rebate program exists as an investment that the state will eventually make profit on in the form of economic growth through employment. The legislation providing such rebates likely would never have existed in the first place if it were not economically beneficial to the state. Additionally, providing rebates is more likely to attract production of the benefit films that have tighter budgets and have trouble breaking even, rather than the stereotypical big budget films, meaning that rebates could mean the difference of a production company moving forward with riskier films or not. The Hollywood welfare argument is a politically expedient one because of the way Hollywood is viewed politically in present day American culture. Many on America s rightwing view Hollywood as a big elitist organization with a liberal political agenda. Rhetoric like Hollywood welfare truly is a representation of the divisive nature of modern times. Schimmel writes in an essay regarding rhetoric that language affects our perception and understanding of social and political realities, irrespective of how accurately it reflects them. Conservative state politicians have capitalized on the preconditioned distrust conservatives have toward Hollywood paired with the negative connotations that the political right has associated with welfare has led to film tax incentives taking major blows, especially in predominantly conservative ... • 35. Persuasive Essay On Happiness We live in America, a country that is rather prosperous in comparison to many other countries in the world. In order to get to where this country is today wars were started, people enslaved, and countries exploited. The greater majority s happiness was derived from another humans suffering. This has occurred throughout the majority of human history and continues into today s society. While we may see this as the wrong way to live we don t mind sustaining our prosperity. Just as Jesus Christ suffered for the sake of humanity s sins, much of what gives us happiness unmistakably generates affliction around the globe. Just as every action has an equal or opposite reaction, every choice has a repercussion whether we know it or not. Our world is reminiscent of a yin yang symbol, the white side representing our happiness and the black side the pain and suffering that got us there. By choosing our advantage over what is right, staying ignorant, and entanglement in consumerism our happiness is the offspring of despair somewhere in the world. We are all guilty of encountering happiness that was in some way the byproduct of someone s suffering. Whether we realize it or not does not mean we are not guilty of the same sin. For example, I went to a job interview a few months ago and there were two other gentlemen that were far more qualified than me interviewing as well. We all needed and wanted the job equally although the job was granted to me because I knew a general manager at the company. I chose success in exchange for the other gentlemen suffering a declined job offer. A lot of the time we don t even realize the suffering that our decisions cause or that suffering even occurred. America has been at war for nearly half of its existence to protect our rights and liberty. While we are safe and happy within our own borders both our soldiers and the country we are fighting are suffering immensely. For many years America endorsed slavery as free labor to create a happier society for white people. In these examples, many people are suffering for the sake of the America or particular race s happiness. While much of this is uncontrollable for the majority we still have to face the facts that our happiness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
