David Snow Psychological Theory
A psychological theory that can contribute to the explanation of David Snow and why he
murdered and sexually assaulted individuals would be Freud s psychoanalytic theory. According to
Freud, one is more likely to abide criminal behaviour when there is disruption during childhood
psychosexual development (Brookman, 2005a). In addition to development interruption, having a
weak conscious will coincide with the likelihood of criminal behaviour (Brookman, 2005a). The
mind is comprised of the Id, Ego and Superego, and when there is a conflict of these three efforts
to make decisions results in a weaker ability to make sufficient judgement (Brookman, 2005a). The
Ego is supposed to reflect adequate judgement through learning upon poor urges that lead... Show

Some of his signatures that was consistent and found through his victims and at the cottages
were bondage and strangulation, and his military writings. These type of M.O. s do not occur
very frequently as a tactic for death which eventually lead to the connection from Vancouver to
Ontario. For example, strangulation only occurs in 38.6% of killings (Fox Levin, 2015) and the
use of gags or blindfolds being 7.1% (Beauregard Martineau, 2012). It is also noteworthy Snow
was described to be a very organized individual, which increases the likelihood of moving the
victim s body after the crime (Beauregard Martineau, 2012), which was evident in the Blackburns
deaths. Although these characteristics are uncommon, police were able to utilize his M.O. to
determine links between the crimes and assisted in the identification of David Snow. Snow s
victim s of the double murder were acquaintances as they were connected from Snow going to
the Blackburn s farm to get items for his antique shop. According to Decker s article Exploring
Victim offender Relationships in Homicide, approximately 46% of homicides are involved with
acquaintances (Decker, 1993). As Snow escalated and the weekly victims occurred there was no
evidence of knowing his victims, they were simply in a vulnerable position which he took
advantage of. This discrepancy of victim

Pokemon Contemporary Art
Contemporary Art: The 20 years of Pokemon
Video games created an innovative new electronic art form since the early years of the 1950 s.
Video gaming has even made an impressive mark in world history in the early 1970 s to the 1980
s with arcades and a generation of home consoles. With almost 40 years of gaming, within half of
those years, a Japanese gaming series known as Pokemon has made an global impact rather than
just Japanese culture. Everyone, even those who aren t so much into the game, can call out a
Pikachu; the cute as well as interesting creatures we can capture in the game has stolen the hearts
of many. Today, a decade or so since 1990, generations have experienced the Pokemon fever; fans
can even recall the 1990 s anime lyrics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Composed by Junichi Masuda, the music and the Pokemon cries are made from a program
called Sound Driver which he developed late in 1990 s. This program gives Pokemon it s
original nostalgic 8 bit to now 16 bit sound that imitates various genre of music. Pokemon music
really captures the setting and mood of the journey you take as tones vary from fast and tense in
battles to relaxed and gentle when traveling. Each new location, whether it s a city or just a
normal route, a different song is played to fit the given tone of your newly discovered settings.
The most compelling evidence of this is in Pokemon Red/Blue where as you enter Lavender
Town (a town where the graves of dead Pokemon lies) the music becomes eerie and disturbing.
This actually caused a lot of controversy in the media in Japan with rumors of children committing
suicide after hearing the song; this gave a more sinister feel everyone relates to. Pokemon has
created it s own world as the music and the composition of the visuals cooperate together, pulling in
fans from all over the world; from different

Tort Reform Research Paper
Have you ever seen a commercial for mesothelioma victims, saying that billions of dollars have
been set aside for those injured by asbestos? That you only need to call the number on your
screen to receive your compensation? Or how about the ones for transvaginal mesh implants,
Xarelto, or men developing gynecomastia after taking ARVs? These are all tort lawsuits that
have been/are being tried in court to punish companies for making faulty products. This seems
fair, doesn t it? It is, don t get me wrong, but like every good thing it can be taken too far. Let me
give you an example. Onder Law Firm of Webster Groves of Missouri came across some cases of
baby powder causing ovarian cancer. They took these lawsuits and ran with them. They made...

People brought lawsuits against tobacco companies claiming that cigarettes caused different
diseases. These cases did not hold up in court and lost. However, states brought similar lawsuits
against tobacco companies and won. The states were paid $206 billion dollars to offset the costs
for treating those who have been harmed by tobacco products. These lawsuits led to tobacco
companies regulating the industry more and providing public health campaigns warning about the
negative effects tobacco products can have (Aliprandini and Walter 1). The last influential case for
tort litigation is the Dalkon Shield lawsuit. The Dalkon Shield is a birth control device that caused
harm to those who used it. There were so many claims that the company declared bankruptcy.
(Although it was later revealed that the company was not bankrupt but declared it to quit paying
claims.) These lawsuits led to the Medical Device Amendment. This amendment states that all
medical devices need to be tested and approved by the Food and Drug Administration before being
sold to the public (Aliprandini and Walter

The Mormon Religion
The Mormon religion first came to light in the early 1800s, in the northeastern United States. The
Second Great Awakening provided the perfect religious atmosphere for new religious dogma.
Furthermore, this new religion offered fresh perspective and ideals; which helped to further
alienate its followers from mainstream gospel. Faced with extreme prejudice from Protestants, it
wasn t until the Mormons fled west that their religious prerogative flourished. The hyper
emotional state of affairs originating from the Second Great Awakening resulted in religious
turbulence which served as the foundation for Mormonism whose continued development and
survival directly correlated to westward expansion and the freedoms of the West. Early in the
19th century, The Second Great Awakening, a popular evangelical movement, was raging through
upstate New York. Nicknamed the Burned Over District, this region was often swept by the
flames of the Holy Spirit thus creating a supercharged atmosphere perfect for up and coming
religious zealots (Gopnik 4). Within this tidal wave of religious fervor the stage was set for the
introduction of Mormonism in the 1820s by self proclaimed prophet, Joseph Smith. Claiming the
angel Moroni paid him a visit and guided him to a set of buried golden plates, Smith purported that
God had blessed him with the ability to understand the ancient texts inscribed upon them (Gopnik
2). Because of this gift and God s benevolence, Smith was able to translate the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of PLA
Despite several advantages ,PLA has some drawbacks as well, which limits its use in certain
applications3. PLA has poor toughness (very brittle material with less than 10% elongation at
break), slow degradation rate (low crystallinity), hydrophobicity (hydrophobic with a static contact
angle of approximately 80В°), lack of reactive side chain groups and poor barrier properties (to
moisture and air)3. Moreover, the poor melt strength restricts the applicability of specific processing
techniques such as film blowing etc.
Several attempts have been made to improve the properties of PLA. Researchers have approached
surface modifications to enhance the mechanical properties, especially toughness, processability,
degradation behaviour and crystallization11. By the use of surface modification techniques
different reactive groups such as COOH, OH, and NH2 can be introduced on the surface of PLA.
Grafting technique was utilized by Spinella et al.12, to improve the mechanical and barrier
properties of the nanocomposites. PLLA based nanocomposites with PMMA modified CNCs

suspension of cellulose fibre is pumped at high pressure and passed through a thin slit, where it is
subjected to high shear forces. This combination of forces results in a high degree of fibrillation

Advantages of high pressure homogenization lies in easy scale up and continuous operation.

Essay On Sociology Is The Father Of Sociology
Sociology
1.What is the science of sociology?
Sociology is defined as a systematic arrangement of knowledge that indicates operations in
consideration to the general laws. In a general approach, sociology is defined briefly as the study
of how human interact in their daily social life. The word sociology is developed from two main
other words socio and logos . The meaning of socio is society and the meaning of logos is science.
That means sociology is the science used to study human social life. In addition to this sociology is
not concerned with only the social interaction but also the daily social changes.
Different approaches have been developed for the study and examination of sociology but never
has there been an acceptable concept to this study. The reason is that sociology involves a study
of human lives and the behaviors and therefore, it is a very complicated topic to study. Sociology
is composed by various sociological theories which in many cases they contradict each other
leading to a lot of issues about this topic (Horowitz, 2017).
Auguste Comte is considered the father of sociology because he was interested in the study of
society mainly because of the changes that had taken place due to the revolution of France ... Show

right to speech should be accepted to do so. The first amendment is one of the most fundamental
rights that individuals have. It is fundamental to the existence of democracy and the respect of

If the citizens were unable to criticize the government, it would be impossible to regulate order. By

The people will be submitted to a dictatorship. That s why freedom of speech is so important
because is the main and the introductory part to the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. The
founding fathers wrote this right to make sure that United States will be a different country, a
better country where everyone could understand each other and that what happened to them
(British government) will not happen ever again. In a democratic government also depends on
freedom of press and freedom of assembly. Freedom of press is the occurrences that happen
every day that are informed or detailed through television, newspaper, internet, magazines or
speech without adding or removing any type of information that do not benefit a particular sector.
And also is that the people have the right to have their own type of press to express their ideas.
Today, freedom of press is a utopia because every country has their own secrets, and covers
important information to their citizens. With freedom of press, the countries will have a perfect
government not so perfect but the people need to know the truth. The democratic government is a
form of government in which the people, either directly or indirectly, take part in governing.
Democracy is the worst form of government except for all those others that have been tried. This is
because there is no system that can perfectly order society. Usually the purpose of democracy is to
prevent tyranny (the accumulation of

Integral to Vygotsky s theory is what he described as the zone of proximal development (ZPD).
Vygotsky defined the ZPD as the distance between the actual developmental level as determined
by independent problem solving and the level of potential development as determined through
problem solving under adult guidance or in collaboration with more capable peers (Ankrum,
Genest, and Belcastro, 2013) We use this in our understanding of how the power of verbal
scaffolding can really help children. In this study, we see how a teacher can really help her

Ethics Of Drones Essay
Drones or unmanned aircraft are like a hammer or gun. They are tools. They are not inherently
good or bad. How they are used becomes the ethical issue at hand. Drones have a broad spectrum
of wage; from the delivery of pizza, to weather forecasting, to weapons platforms in armed
conflict. It is the purpose of this paper to show the use of drones in warfare is necessary and can
be ethically justified using the principles of both deontology and utilitarianism. The fact that drones
are remotely controlled, sometimes from great distances, does not remove the operators from
responsibility, no more than the bullet fired from a gun, it is still the responsibility of the soldier
who fired it. Fighting against groups who oppress their citizens through... Show more content on

Deontology would say that it, is the pilot s choice to attack a known target or no to attack a
known target. Michael Bergmann advises this would be distinction between objective and
subjective moral duties he also notes this is fairy common (Bergmann). I liken this to the
choices the pilot believes they are in possession of, versus the reality of the choices they
ultimately have. Deontologicaly speaking the pilot would only be held responsible for the good
or wrongness of their actions alone. For example, if a pilot controlling a drone was sent to back
up allied troops pinned down by enemy fire and fired two missiles with the first missile striking
and neutralizing the enemy combatants. This would be a good thing. However if that second
missile missed the target and hit a building where it is unknown if the occupant inside are hostile,
it is still a justified use of the drone to defeat an enemy and the drone pilot would not held
responsible for unforeseen collateral

Future Air Transportation System Essay
2.2 FUTURE AIR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS (FANS) : 2.2.1 Introduction to FANS Future Air
Navigation Systems (FANS) is a concept that was developed by the International Civil Aviation
Organization (ICAO) in partnership with Boeing, Airbus, Honeywell and others in the air
transport industry to allow more aircraft to safely and efficiently utilize a given volume of
airspace. Today FANS is used primarily in the oceanic regions taking advantage of both satellite
communication and satellite navigation to effectively create a virtual RADAR environment for
safe passage of aircraft. FANS play a key role in supporting many of the evolving CNS/ATM
(Communication Navigation Surveillance/ Air Traffic Management) strategies. Today, FANS 1
is the standard used on Boeing aircraft and Airbus standard for FANS is known as FANS A.
Both standards are considered first generation FANS architecture. Figure 2(d): FANS architecture

Funding is also getting tighter in the current economic climate. Innovation may be linked to
positive changes in efficiency, productivity, quality and competitiveness, among other factors.
Benefits of innovation could be the improvement in the workforce. By improving the workforce
an organisation will benefit from increased productivity and improved morale and lower staff
turnover. Employees will feel more valued which therefore increases motivation. This is
beneficial to employers because it provides the organisation with knowledgeable, reliable staff
who will have a more positive contribution to the needs of the organisation. Staff are a valuable
source of innovation, even if it is not expected as a major part of their job. An innovative work
environment means being creative and try new techniques. As Albert Einstein said if you always
do what you ve always done, you will get what you ve always got. A benefit of change in the
organisation would be it promotes creative ways of thinking, so that ideas can be developed to
keep the organisation fresh and exciting. Change breaks monotony so that people are re energised
and so the interest in the job increases. Change in the workforce brings out the true colours of
employees. Those that have a positive attitude and work hard to cope with the differences in their
work environment are people that a company wants to keep so that overall

In order for facilities to minimize financial loss is to reduce accidents and injuries. All health care
facilities and providers put risk management in to practice on a continuing basis. In 1985, the

Another risk is an organizational risk. This type of risk occurs when the management
commitment, political expectations, or legislative requirements to complete the project are
impacted because the project does not proceed. This type of risk looks very bad on the
organizations and makes the stakeholders question what type of organization they have invested
in. Then you have technical risks. These risks are associated with maintaining skilled staff,
hardware and software dependencies, application software, other infrastructure needs, and
security vulnerabilities and safeguards (hhs.gov). This type of risk affects the organization is a
major way. If not handled in a proper manner, the organization can be destroyed. The organization
has to realize that the stakeholders are looking at this very closely. They want to know that the
organization is serious about the staff and that they are skilled enough to handle what goes on in
the organization. It is also important that no one is giving out improper information. In order to
mitigate these risks, the organization needs to have proper education. How can a person with no
education or experience solve any kind of risk problem? Of course to some people it is a natural
instinct to know how to resolve issues but they still must have education to back up their

Jonathan Edwards And Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God
In the 1600 s the Puritans were the main religious group of that time period and they had very
strong ideals on how religion and government should go together. Jonathan Edwards, who shared
many of their ideals, preached a sermon called, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God and it had a
very big impact on the congregation. Nathaniel Hawthorne, although he was a writer in the 1800 s,
he was fascinated with the Puritans and their lifestyles and wrote a short story called, The Minister
s Black Veil. Both authors use specific details, tone, and imagery to convey their meaning and style,
Edwards harsh and accusatory style was more effective than Hawthorne s melancholy and
mysterious style because Edwards helps the reader understand the effects sincan have in one s life.
Throughout Sinners Edwards uses specific details to show God s anger towards those who have
sinned. In paragraph five of Sinners he says, dreadful pit of the glowing flames of the wrath of
God. Edwards uses strong diction here to give the congregation an idea of how angry God is
with all who have sinned. Along those same lines, Hawthorne also uses strong diction in his
details, for example pale faced congregation on page three of MBV. He uses this detail to be sure
the reader knows the effect the veil has on the townspeople and how they were frightened by his
veil. Edwards detail on the contrary was more effective because he frightened the audience whereas
Hawthorne is very dull in the moment throughout the story.
In the same way Edwards surpasses Hawthorne again in effecting the audience more in imagery.
Edwards uses frightening imagery to give the congregation and image in their minds to scare them
into repenting. In paragraph four of Sinners he declares, the devil is waiting for them, hell is
gaping for them, the flames gather and flash about them... this traumatises the audience because in
their minds they see hell with the devil waiting to devour them. This persuades them to repent and
change their ways because they do not want to burn in hell. Hawthorne on the other hand takes a
different approach in imagery. Whereas Edwards does it to help his persuasion Hawthorne does it
to help the reader get a better idea of the moral.

Animating Revolt
Films with sound have been around since 1927, and animated films have been around since the
1930s. The main job of an animated film is to entertain, to captivate, and to fascinate the audience,
typically with no deeper meaning; however, with the new genre of Pixarvolt films the children s
animation genre has taken a turn leading toward deeper meanings and hidden messages throughout
the movie. Animating revolt is a new form of portraying children s movies, usually expressing
something progressive as a hidden message, to the disapproval or unbeknownst of a conservative

Types Of Construction Artificial Intelligence
Many people today are excited at the thought of machines that can work as if they were human.
Pure fascination is driven by the idea of technology that is far beyond the average person s mind.
This intelligence being created can do monotonous jobs significantly faster than the average
worker, go places that are hard to reach, and think better and faster compared to humans.
Businesses are thrilled at the prospect of cutting down on their biggest cost, labor, and getting
jobs done quickly and more efficiently. But for the common, middle class, blue collar worker, it
could mean a loss of wages and a forced cross training into another field. In the wake of this
extraordinary Artificial Intelligencewithin the construction industry, there are winners and losers.

technology that supervision uses to man a jobsite to an actual robot pouring concrete or welding a
pipe. With the technology improvements being made daily, there will be a day few people will

Workplace Harassment
An Analysis of Workplace Harassment and Bullying in Today s Society
Introduction
Workplace harassment and bullying occurs when an employee subjects another employee to
degrading behaviour, whether verbal abuse and threats or actual physical violence. It is an
inappropriate expression of power that affects workers and their productivity in an unfavourable
way (Spry, 1998). Management, and other types of employees, who occupy high status roles
sometimes believe that harassing their subordinates is within their rights and make demands of the
lower status employees (Langton, Robbins, Judge, 2010, p. 313).
Harassment is often a result of stress, power, differences of opinion, undefined expectations of
management, absent policies, and tasks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Johns amp; Saks, 2008, p. 135)
It has typically been thought of as a type of harassment that only women experience in the
workplace; however, men can be victims of sexual harassment as well. Sexual harassment demeans
its victims, whether female or male.
A victim of sexual harassment can be anyone within an organization, although some individuals
are more prone to victimization. For example, women within an organization who are highly
educated, young, and seeking to move up within the ranks of the organization can be perceived
by men as a threat and so are targeted (Mueller, De Coster, amp; Estes, 2001). The corporate
culture in which individuals work can also influence who becomes a victim of sexual harassment.
Women who work in male dominated occupations or work groups are more likely to be harassed
than women who work in female dominated or gender integrated occupations or work groups
(Mueller et al., 2001). Corporate cultures that are more open about sexual matters may become too
lenient regarding this topic which can potentially lead to increased sexual harassment cases. It has
been

Essay on Response to Savage Inequalities by Jonathan Kozol
Response to Savage Inequalities by Jonathan Kozol In Savage Inequalities, Jonathan Kozol
describes the conditions of several of America s public schools. Kozol visited schools in
neighborhoods and found that there was a wide disparity in the conditions between the schools in
the poorest inner city communities and schools in the wealthier suburban communities. How can
there be such huge differences within the public school system of a country, which claims to
provide equal opportunity for all? It becomes obvious to Kozol that many poor children begin their
young lives with an educationthat is far inferior to that of the children who grow up in wealthier
communities. Savage Inequalities provides strong evidence of the national... Show more content on

Education (No. 1, SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES

98 L. Ed. 873; 1954 U.S. LEXIS 2094; 53 Ohio Op. 326; 38 A.L.R.2d 1180, December 9, 1952,
Argued, May 17, 1954, Decided, Reargued December 8, 1953), which supposedly mandated the
desegregation of schools in America. Towns close enough to easily integrate face almost total
segregation with abysmal conditions in the Black and/or Latino schools and tremendously good
resources in the white schools.
Although the statistics are more than 10 years out of date, the reality of America school
segregation has not changed. The barely functional buildings, lack of up to date text books (or in
many cases any text books), overcrowded classes, non existent lab and computer equipment, and
low paid teachers create a situation of despair that leads to a drop out rate of more than 50% in
many districts. And even those who graduate are often barely literate. Kozol draws the clear link
between these schools and the imprisonment of the oppressed nations who, after dropping out of a
dead end education, end up locked behind bars.
The overt racism of this system is exposed when districts with little money run out of space for
their kids and try to rent empty space from wealthier districts. Those that agree require the kids to
stay entirely segregated from the white student body,

What Is The Syntax In Night By Elie Wiesel
Night, by Elie Wiesel, is a memoir on his gruesome experiences in his time in Auschwitz. After
the first edition of the book, there was a section which he changed the language and syntax to
possibly make his text more powerful, and to spell check and revise any errors he had because at
the time, he was only 20. The change of the text was much more effective than the old version
because the syntax made the section stand out more and the diction was much better to make the
section overall much more powerful to the readers. The use of syntax was much more effective in
the newer version than the old version because it makes all the words seem independent and makes
each word stand out in its own way. He made each sentence into its own paragraph... Show more

In the section, he used just silent sky in the newer version unlike the old version where he used
silent blue sky . The interpretation of blue in this setting makes it feel like a nice beautiful day
in a concentration camp and makes things feel more pleasant and relaxing which does not help
support the fact that this is Auschwitz. Colors should be dark gloomy colors such as a dark gray
or a black or none at all which he used in the newer version. The use of just silent sky not only
makes it feel darker, but makes it feel abrupt and more powerful so in this case, less is more. The
use of dreams to ash is much more effective than the original dreams to dust . Dust is just
nothing, dust means gone completely and there is no turning back and you re now just waiting
to be gone. This is dark but there has to be some hope left, seeing that the Jews always just held
on and prayed. Ash on the other hand is also nothing but there is a little spark of hope, it is still
moving and it is still alive but so useless that no one cares and no one realizes it. Ash also just fits
because of the burning smell and feel that comes from the so called chimneys which await them.
Diction can definitely change how we think and how we imagine a scene and the newer version
gives a darker and more surreal

Literacy Vs. Low Literacy Essay
Literacy Connections (LC) was founded in 1975 as Literacy Volunteers of America Dutchess
County, Inc. The agency changed its name to Literacy Connections in 2005. Literacy Connections
is a private, not for profit, 501(C) (3) organization committed to helping adults and families become
functionally literate. The organization works with the lowest literacylevel adults in Dutchess,
Columbia, and Greene Counties.
Our core program is to help adults to learn to read and write, and function independently by
recruiting and training volunteers to provide one to one and small group tutoring that is student
centered. Student centered means not following a pre determined curriculum, and giving a voice to
the student with regard to their learning goals. Teaching adults is not the same as teaching children.
Materials must be sensitive and respectful of adult learners, and because adults face so many
challenges in their daily lives, the learning must be relevant and meaningful. Recognizing that
illiteracy/low literacy is a family issue, our Adult Family Literacy Program also offers reading
enrichment to children who are struggling with reading in the 2nd 4th grades the crucial time when
children are transitioning from learning to read to reading to learn.
MISSION STATEMENT Literacy Connections is dedicated to developing and offering programs
and services to support a literate society. We recruit and train volunteers to provide no cost student
centered tutoring

Coins In Shakespeare s Othello
Heads or tails? The attribute of a coin is that there are two sides, with each side opposing the
other. The qualities of two sides, two forces being antagonistic to one another is predominant in
Shakespeare s play Othello. For some critics of the play, Iago and Othello are two sides of a coin
with Iagorepresenting the evil side and Othellothe good side. Although a case could be made for
this stance, the side of the argument holding the antithesis is the most logical, appropriate, sensible,
and rational argument since the two characters qualities of good and evil overlap throughout the
play. This argument is supported by the concentrate and palpable characteristics of a coin: secure,
solid, stable; the coin has two sides, heads and tails,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the course of the play, it is evident that some characters saw Othello as good while
others saw him as evil. In the first act, senator Brabantio tells Othello, O thou foul thief, where
hast thou stow d my daughter? (1.3). Others, such as Iago, see Othello has a fair and righteous
person, a person representing the good side of the coin. Iago tells Othello, My lord, you know I
love you (3.3). By showing two different views of Othello it is evident that Othello is viewed as
good and evil in Shakespearian society. Like Othello, society sees Iago as being a good man
while others note his evil nature. Shortly after being fired from his position as Othello s
lieutenant, Cassio appraises Iago, good night, honest Iago (2.3). During an argument between
Emilia and Iago, Emilia shouts, Villany, villany, villany! (5.2). By having different characters in
Othello express different views on the same person, it is pellucid that Iago was coined as a good
person and as an evil person. By showing that Iago and Othello both have a good and evil side, it
is clearly evident that they do not represent to the two sides of the coin in which one side is strictly
good and the other side strictly

Political Change In Texas
Texas has been a predominantly republican state since the late 1900s. In this past presidential
election there was a time when the polls foreshadowed that Texas would go democratic. Many
people in Texas have been initiating a Turn Texas Blue movement for this election. This means
that the people of Texas want Texas to vote democratic. This was passed around all over social
media such as twitter and Facebook. The last time a democratic presidential candidate was voted
in by Texas was in 1976, and 20 years have passed since Texans voted in a democrat to a major
state office. Very close to election day however, Hilary Clinton was ahead in the polls. I heard
several people actually worried that Texas would turn blue. Donald Trump, the republican
candidate, did pull out the win in Texas in the end though. I most definitely believe that Texas is
on the verge of turning blue in the near future. Donald Trump is registered as a republican, but
some of his values and plans seem a bit democratic, or even liberal. This will not go over very well
with some of the more republican and conservative people of Texas. Texas is a state of tradition
and very much of the make up of Texas currently is conservative.... Show more content on

contribute to deforestation and are ruining the home of thousands of animals. The first road to be
built is one that connects to the capital of Brazil called Brasilla to the port city of Belem, that is in
the north, runs 250 miles long and has caused deforestation in order to build this road.
Transcontinental Roads have been built in this area since urbanization is on the rise and people

land that has to be crossed over, railroads began to develop for the people to travel and for trade.
A long railroad to connect from Brazil s Atlantic Coast and a Pacific port in Peru has been

phosphate rock (Amazonia, The Human Impact). This railroad is 3,300 miles long and it is 10

people without homes. As of now, there are many roads created that crisscross along the Brazilian
Amazon and many are illegal, about 95%. Fires are another thing that leads to deforestation. Fires

proud most Americans are of the Declaration of Independence and its well known unalienable
rights of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness , the United States is one of the only major
countries that does not guarantee healthcare to the people as a right of citizenship. Americans
pay more than enough taxes for universal single payer healthcare, but we are far from enjoying
reliable coverage (Woolhandler 2002). The healthcare system in the United States is complex
and fundamentally broken. But various groups of politicians, industries, parties, and people are
distracted with pointing to specific targets: the federal government, state governments, public
and private hospitals, insurance providers, pharmaceutical and medical equipment providers,
doctors and nurses, and the legal system. All these agents have a role in causing this healthcare
beast we have now, and it is unlikely that they can ever work together to solve the issues. For the
poor, it means that they cannot afford much healthcare. Injuries have to be walked off and an
emergency room visit is an impossible expense. Although Medicare has reduced the burden
somewhat, the poor still receive sub par healthcare compared to the rest of society. Chronic pain
has to be managed by Excedrin and Advil, compensated for with cigarettes and, in one or two
cases and then only on weekends, with booze (Ehrenreich 82). The poor is often criticized for
substance abuse, be it drugs, alcohol, or more nefarious stimulants. However, Ehrenreich makes it

The Prologue Of The Prose Edda
I will be doing my source analysis paper on the prologue of the Prose Edda. I ve read this text
previously in one of my humanities classes, which is why I chose this text to do my source
analysis paper on. Snorri Sturluson, a Christian who wished to preserve the knowledge of the old
religion of his lands, composed the Norse creation myth, Prose Edda. I found his molding of the
myth into a story featuring a contest between the King and the Old Gods interesting. Kings want
to be seen and known as gods to their people and become famous in their part of the world. It
seems as though there were better intentions with the Old Gods, and that there was a desire to live
as a good person in a good world without the desire for money and power.
The prologue involves orthodox Christian tales and demonstrates the pagan gods as being ancient
heroes. The prologue from my understanding sets the tone for the text as it starts with the
beginning of the tales and creation. I believe it all together was mainly intended for an academic
audience rather than a general audience, and perhaps even those who are interested in reading
texts involving orthodox Christian tales such as this one. I found the prologue to be based around
religious content, which is why I think the targeted audience, would be those interested in
religious literature. Regarding the text as a whole, the Prose Edda at first glance classifies itself as
a sacrifice creation myth. Ymir is sacrificed and his body is used to create

Introduce And Critique Neo Realism
Introduce and critique Neo Realism
Realism came about in post 1930s with the failure of the peace through law approach . The failure
of the League of Nations meant there was a decline in the Liberalist International relations theory.
Key Liberalist thinkers such as Jackson and Sorensen described liberalism as being optimistic
about human nature, that people were capable of moral progress and also liberalist treat states as
individual units. The failure of state and human cooperation that led to World War One and Two
had deeply undermined the liberalist theory, this led to the importance of the Realist theory who
question the optimism of human nature. Realist are often pessimistic on human nature, (Jackson
and Sorensen, 2007) argued life is constantly at risk, and nobody can be confident about his or her
security and survival for any reasonable length of time... Key Realist thinker Thomas Hobbes also
argued that the world consists of self interested individuals and that life is solitary, poor, nasty,
brutish and short . Realism is more useful than liberalism today as we see mass conflict and a lack
of trust between humans and states, such as the Islamic State preforming barbaric acts against its
own civilians, or the September attacks 2001 which supports the Realist theory that life is
constantly at risk . In this essay, Neo Realism will be discussed. Key thinker of Neo Realism has
been Kenneth Waltz. His aim was to try and explain why wars are caused in a more systematic

This simply shows how the main protagonist lost all interest of returning to how things used to

summation, the novel, Fifty Shades of Grey, reveals numerous instances of patriarchy in the
modern society. The main character, Christian, influences the decision of her girlfriend and

Gladiatorial Contest In Rome Essay
Gladiatorial Contest in Rome
Rome was a warrior state. Since the state was a great fighting state in their time, the wars sort of
formed the gladiatorial contest in ancient Rome. The Romans were fascinated and pleasured by
violence, bloodshed, and human suffering the gladiatorial games.
The gladiatorial contests began at the reign of their first emperor Augustus to pay tribute to their
warrior traditions. The Romans built artificial battlefields within amphitheaters in cities and towns
for public entertainment. It is very obvious that gladiatorial contest were important because of the

Those who attended the games were dressed up as gods. The slaves were dressed up as the god
of Mercury. The people who dragged away the dead bodies were dressed as Pluto, the god of the
underworld. When Christians were persecuted, the were sometimes led around the arena in a
procession dressed up as priests and priestesses of pagan cults, before the were thrown to wild
beast naked. All of these events performed presented human sacrifice for religious purposes and in
the memory of the dead.
At the end of the last century B.C., politics became involved in the gladiatorial games, and the
games were viewed more as entertainment than religious and commemorative ceremonies. The
contests were public performances held in the social center of the city, the Forum. The public
started participating in the games due to the splendour of the shows and by the distribution of
meat, and by betting, added more respect to the entire family and the dead. The funerals put on by
aristocrats in the Republic were political acts because if their popularity with citizen electors. The
fancy shows were fueled by competition between aristocrats who wanted to please, excite, and
increase their number of supporters.
In 42 B.C., gladiatorial fights were substituted for chariot races in official games for the first time.
It was then when officers of the state started producing the

Essay On Still Alice Howland
In Still Alice, a college professor Dr. Alice Howland is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer s.
We see Alice struggle with slowly losing her memories and not being able to work anymore,
something Alice feels that defines her identity. Alice continues to try and remain herself by
setting reminders and taking a daily quiz. However, her mental faculties continue to decline
drastically and her family begins to treat her as something less than a person, and instead is
viewed as a kind of burden on her husband and children. By the end of the movie Alice is no
longer the same, and fails to kill herself as the former Alice instructed during a video instructing

Thus with this bodily criterion there is no ethical dilemma of murder, since Alice never ceases to be
Alice. Thus, if taking this view to be valid then there is no ethical dilemma present with Alice
instructing herself to how to kill herself. I will now state my own thoughts on personal identity and
whether the psychological criterion with direct memory connection determines personal identity or
the bodily criterion. Then I will give reasons for the validity of my perspective, and how it is
incorporated with the films view. Although Still Alice supports the psychological criterion with
direct memory connection, this criterion does not actually determine personal identity. Instead, the
bodily criterion with normal cause of the brain is the factor of personal identity. This variation of
the bodily criterion includes the most important organ in the human body, the brain. The brain
controls the entire body, and how information is processed from stimuli in the environment. I also
defend the idea that only half the brain is needed for brain continuity and normal

Analysis Of Francois Hutteau s Great Search For Liberty
Francois Hutteau s great search for Liberty
Hello my French brothers and sisters! Dark times have befallen our precious land, and pure
chaos has ensued. I write to the people in France in hopes of establishing a new land. A land that
can be looked upon proudly with eyes of great virtue. In order to achieve our wildest dreams we
must sort through the rubbish that has landed us here in the first place. How will we as a society
react to the many things that have been dealt to the people of France? Perhaps our great fight
ends in bloodshed, and broken promises. Or perhaps we could take heed of the laws and policies
our fellow Europeans across the Sea. I had the pleasure of visiting one of the cities in America that
the citizens take so much pride in: Boston, Massachusetts. A port town on the North Eastern coast
that was a large part of the American Revolution. It was also home to the Notorious Boston
Massacre. There are a number of things that I enjoyed about my trip, but pointing out the
differences between Boston and France had to be the most delectable part of my trip. The way in
which they practice religion is something to behold. Their new Constitution is also no laughing
matter, and lastly the many things Americans find fun is mesmerizing, and also repulsive. America
is a tremendous place and I cannot wait to guide you through my journey and inferences.
The first voyage I made when I got off the boat was directly towards a church. I decided to visit
the Old North Church and as I approached I noticed that the brick work seemed to glisten in the
sun, and the white interior reminded me of how pure the world can really be. The church
practiced Protestantism, and started soon after the War.[1] I admired the way in which the
citizens praised God, but I did happen to notice that their practices were rather different from my
own. After talking to some of the Americans most had either commented on my accent or
expressed their condolences to the revolution. I also asked them about how they worship and how
they choose to worship. Many of these American citizens were free to choose what they wanted to
worship. Most did say that they would be judged for their religious decisions, but were never
forced into doing

Examples Of Discrimination In A Streetcar Named Desire
Back in the 1940 s, gender stereotypes existed to a larger extent. Tennessee Williams casts a light
on this issue in his play, A Streetcar Named Desire in which he shows how Homosexuals; such as
Blanche s husband Allan Grey was cut from the society. During the 1940 s, the concept of
homosexuality was completely unusual and many people termed it to be unethical and almost a
crime (Straight from the Closet). As a result, Allan Grey has been briefly mentioned but he has a
huge role to play in Blanche s mental breakdown and Williams has constantly made his presence
felt through Blanche s character.
Homosexuality was illegal in the 1940 s and Williams attempts to address this issue through Blanche
s perspective. Blanche represents the old American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Williams makes use of a plastic theatre element; Varsouviana Polka to show how the tragic
suicide of Blanche s husband is still affecting her. In scene 1, when Stanley asks Blanche about
her marriage, there is a faint Varsouviana polka heard (p.31). This stage direction allows the
reader to know that Blanche is brought to reality where she considers herself guilty for her
husband s death. The intensity of this polka tune is more rapid in scene 9, when Mitch confronts
Blanche about her truth (p.113). The purpose of the rapid polka tune is to make it clear in the
reader s mind that Blanche s illusion of getting married to Mitch as a way to get rid of her past, is
brought back to reality when Mitch refuses her proposal. It also marks the increasing mental
collapse as she realizes it s the end of her illusion and only reality exists. Towards the end, in scene
11, the Varsouviana tune plays continuously when the doctor and the nurse come to take Blanche to
the mental asylum (p.139). This final act and the Varsouviana playing in the background helps the
reader to clearly recognize the ultimate mental breakdown of Blanche and eventually facing the

Using Breaking Free Of Old Ways Of Thinking Outside The Box
Thinking outside the box is a common idiom used to express the idea of breaking free of old
ways of thinking. In a real sense, the walls of the box are the borders of our thoughts. Moving
past those barriers is considered not only a good thing, but a necessary thing. Yet this is not only
about travel. I could have stayed in my home country to study, but I chose instead to bet on myself
and apply internationally. As a result I was offered a full paid scholarship. And took this
opportunity to place myself as far from my comfort zone. I wanted to not just think outside the box,
but exist entirely outside of it.
Saudi Arabia, where I am from, has one of the largest economy in the Arab world. And its fast
growing economy allows it to be a solid ground for many investing activities. I grew up in a
family business that really provided the core of my belief in business and in ones ability to grow
and operate important businesses that can compete and be successful.
I think I ve inherited my passion for learning besides the insatiable curiosity which has served me
well throughout my childhood, school years and academic career from my father, an international
businessman. He taught me to explore the world, constantly seeking to learn more, and to make an
effort to understand more. I watched him for hours as he worked on his meetings, and I also helped
him with contracts, presentations, and marketing proposals growing up. I was fascinated by
business and wanted to know how and

Although this is a controversial novel due to the fact that it contains a number of graphic scenes,
I believe that it puts out a very important message. Throughout this novel, the main character,
Lisbeth Salander, represents an abuse victim who has experienced great tragedy. I appreciate the
fact that the author wrote about an abuse victim and educated the general public on the fact that
women do get abused and sexually mistreated, and that it happens more often than many of us
would like to think. It is important for influential sources, such as novels who reach a large
audience, to discuss themes that are sometimes overlooked. The more people understand that
abuse does occur, and frequently, the larger the awareness will become regarding the situation
and abuse victims. This novel also has an aspect of feminism at times. Larsson created a woman
who had been through so much and showed that not only was she was able to take control of
many aspects of her life, but, she was also able to overcome a multitude of negative relationships.
It is very empowering for a woman to read about another woman standing up for herself and
coming out the winner. This book portrays the main character as a strong female, which I find to
be very beneficial in positively influencing a woman s opinion of herself and her

China s Growth Rate Of Steady State Essay
Introduction Krugman (1994) summarizes two sources of growth that help to expand the national
economy. They are increasing input and increasing output per unit of input. Because of the
diminishing return to capital, increasing input can only increase the output level in the long run.
Therefore, increasing input, such as increasing employment opportunities, increasing the education
level of workers, and increasing the stocks of physical capitals, is not sustainable in the long run.
On the other hand, increasing the knowledge, which belongs to the increasing output per unit of
input, increases the output growth rate in the long run. Krugman concludes that only technological
progress can affect the growth rate of steady state in the long run. Different from focusing on how
to increase the growth rate in the long run, this study focuses on how to increase the output level in
the short and medium run. In the National People s Congress Press Conference in March of 2007,
China s Premier Wen Jiabao argues that the biggest problem with China s economy is that the
growth is unstable, unbalanced, uncoordinated, and unsustainable. Based on the fact that the
current ratio of consumption over output in China is much smaller than that of other countries,
such as Japan and the United States, a higher ratio will increase China s real GDP level in the
short run. Since the short run real GDP is larger than before, a higher ratio of consumption will
increase China s economic growth rate

My Life Has Been A Rollercoaster, With Many Ups And Downs
My life has been a rollercoaster, with many ups and downs. I am thankful for the ups and downs.
The downs have made me strong and the ups have showed me that life is worth living. I was
born in the United states but raised in Nicaragua. I do not consider myself neither from here nor
there. I consider myself a fusion of both cultures. During the mid 80s, my parents were growing
up under the Sandinista communist regime. They lived in a country isolated by a civil war,
subjected to extreme polarization, with a deeply censored press, and diminished liberties. There
were only two options, accepting it or changing it. This is why my father got involved in politics at

Sustainability In The Meat Industry
Sustainability is an issue the whole world is facing but in particular it is become a big problem in
the livestock industry. Greenhouse gases are the cause and in order to preserve the planet for future
generation s changes must be made. Methane is the greenhouse gas which produced by livestock.
Methane is approximately 30 times worse for the environment than carbon dioxide as it is a heat
trapping gas. If sustainabilityneeds the achieved in the Livestock industry than the issue of methane
must be taken care of sooner rather than later.
Sustainability in agriculture is sustain the world s population with sufficient food and textile while
still preserving the earth s resources for future generations. To achieve sustainability in livestock
production a sufficient amount of these products must be produced to satisfy the ever increasing
demands of the growing population while also reducing the amount of greenhouse gases produced.

Animals that have a ruminant (a stomach with regurgitated and practically digested food) are
the biggest contributes to these greenhouse gas emissions. For example cattle can produce up to 70

being done to see the effects of adding seaweed in the cow s diet. By adding seaweed into 2% of
the cow s diet it is said to reduce methane produced by cows by up to 70%. By using seaweed cows

Corporate Culture Of Healthsouth Corporation
Background
HealthSouth Corporation was one of the largest publicly traded owners of rehabilitative hospitals
within the Untied States and paved the way for its industry. However, prior to 2003 the company
had a very dark secret: fraud. In 2003 HealthSouth was accused of making $2.7 billion in false
journal entries in the company s system (Helios, 2013). These false entries allowed the corporation
to inflate its earnings and revenue. While the corporation was dabbling in a fraudulent, aggressive
account system, auditors were unable to detect the extent of the fraud occurring. If not for Michael
Vines and Weston Smith, HealthSouth Corporation might have continued its false entries and
continued deceiving shareholders and even Wall Street itself. HealthSouth serves as a historical
example of how corporate culture can use fraud and deception schemes to not only rationalize what
it is doing, which is an element of the fraud triangle, but also encourage fraudulent financial
statements.
Corporate Culture The corporate culture of HealthSouth Corporation was one of pressure and
blackmailing. The corporate culture of a corporation determines how management, employees, and
customers interact within the work environment and corporate market. According to the case,
HealthSouth Corporation pressured company employees to meet the futile expectations of
corporate Wall Street. As well as pressure from corporate executives of the company, the employees

Essay on The Past and Future of Cuban Foreign Relations
Cuban politics has long been defined by foreign relations. One of the charges of the revolutionary
leaders Fidel Castro and Che Guevara against Fulgencio Batista was his support from the United
States of America. Batista was part of a military coup in 1933, and became President himself by
election in 1940. His party lost the next election in 1944 after which he lived in the U.S., gaining
allies. On his return to Cubain 1952 he led a second coup to end an election which he was losing.
His government was quickly recognized by the U.S., giving him legitimacy, which he turned into
unopposed electoral victory in 1954. His regime was characterized by relationship both with the

had supplied enough weaponry to massively militarize Cuba it still has one of the largest militaries
in the region. Although Dr LleГі was followed as President by Osvaldo DorticГіs, another relatively
moderate technocrat, Fidel Castro was Prime Minister and clearly in control of policy. In 1976,
Fidel Castro officially became President.
Four factors defined hostility between the U.S. and Cuba. First is the Bay of Pigs invasion,
where in 1961 a small force of Cuban exiles, backed by the U.S., returned to recapture Cuba with
disastrous results. The Bay of Pigs was a disaster for all sides. The U.S., which failed to provide
promised air support, lost the trust of the Cuban exile community and was embarrassed
internationally. The Cuban government naturally responded by strengthening economic and
military ties with the U.S.S.R.. Second is Operation Mongoose along with other covert C.I.A.
programs to assassinate Fidel Castro and destabilize the Cuban government. Like the Bay of Pigs,
these programs were a complete disaster. At least eight assassination attempts on Fidel Castro,
including poisonous cigars, failed only strengthening Fidel s hold on power and his aura of
invincibility. Combined with the Bay of Pigs, Operation Condor fostered a somewhat justified
culture and rhetoric of paranoia in the Cuban government. To this day, the totalitarian oppression of
dissidents is

  • 2. David Snow Psychological Theory A psychological theory that can contribute to the explanation of David Snow and why he murdered and sexually assaulted individuals would be Freud s psychoanalytic theory. According to Freud, one is more likely to abide criminal behaviour when there is disruption during childhood psychosexual development (Brookman, 2005a). In addition to development interruption, having a weak conscious will coincide with the likelihood of criminal behaviour (Brookman, 2005a). The mind is comprised of the Id, Ego and Superego, and when there is a conflict of these three efforts to make decisions results in a weaker ability to make sufficient judgement (Brookman, 2005a). The Ego is supposed to reflect adequate judgement through learning upon poor urges that lead... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of his signatures that was consistent and found through his victims and at the cottages were bondage and strangulation, and his military writings. These type of M.O. s do not occur very frequently as a tactic for death which eventually lead to the connection from Vancouver to Ontario. For example, strangulation only occurs in 38.6% of killings (Fox Levin, 2015) and the use of gags or blindfolds being 7.1% (Beauregard Martineau, 2012). It is also noteworthy Snow was described to be a very organized individual, which increases the likelihood of moving the victim s body after the crime (Beauregard Martineau, 2012), which was evident in the Blackburns deaths. Although these characteristics are uncommon, police were able to utilize his M.O. to determine links between the crimes and assisted in the identification of David Snow. Snow s victim s of the double murder were acquaintances as they were connected from Snow going to the Blackburn s farm to get items for his antique shop. According to Decker s article Exploring Victim offender Relationships in Homicide, approximately 46% of homicides are involved with acquaintances (Decker, 1993). As Snow escalated and the weekly victims occurred there was no evidence of knowing his victims, they were simply in a vulnerable position which he took advantage of. This discrepancy of victim ... • 3. Pokemon Contemporary Art Contemporary Art: The 20 years of Pokemon Video games created an innovative new electronic art form since the early years of the 1950 s. Video gaming has even made an impressive mark in world history in the early 1970 s to the 1980 s with arcades and a generation of home consoles. With almost 40 years of gaming, within half of those years, a Japanese gaming series known as Pokemon has made an global impact rather than just Japanese culture. Everyone, even those who aren t so much into the game, can call out a Pikachu; the cute as well as interesting creatures we can capture in the game has stolen the hearts of many. Today, a decade or so since 1990, generations have experienced the Pokemon fever; fans can even recall the 1990 s anime lyrics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Composed by Junichi Masuda, the music and the Pokemon cries are made from a program called Sound Driver which he developed late in 1990 s. This program gives Pokemon it s original nostalgic 8 bit to now 16 bit sound that imitates various genre of music. Pokemon music really captures the setting and mood of the journey you take as tones vary from fast and tense in battles to relaxed and gentle when traveling. Each new location, whether it s a city or just a normal route, a different song is played to fit the given tone of your newly discovered settings. The most compelling evidence of this is in Pokemon Red/Blue where as you enter Lavender Town (a town where the graves of dead Pokemon lies) the music becomes eerie and disturbing. This actually caused a lot of controversy in the media in Japan with rumors of children committing suicide after hearing the song; this gave a more sinister feel everyone relates to. Pokemon has created it s own world as the music and the composition of the visuals cooperate together, pulling in fans from all over the world; from different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Tort Reform Research Paper Have you ever seen a commercial for mesothelioma victims, saying that billions of dollars have been set aside for those injured by asbestos? That you only need to call the number on your screen to receive your compensation? Or how about the ones for transvaginal mesh implants, Xarelto, or men developing gynecomastia after taking ARVs? These are all tort lawsuits that have been/are being tried in court to punish companies for making faulty products. This seems fair, doesn t it? It is, don t get me wrong, but like every good thing it can be taken too far. Let me give you an example. Onder Law Firm of Webster Groves of Missouri came across some cases of baby powder causing ovarian cancer. They took these lawsuits and ran with them. They made... However, states brought similar lawsuits against tobacco companies and won. The states were paid $206 billion dollars to offset the costs for treating those who have been harmed by tobacco products. These lawsuits led to tobacco companies regulating the industry more and providing public health campaigns warning about the negative effects tobacco products can have (Aliprandini and Walter 1). The last influential case for tort litigation is the Dalkon Shield lawsuit. The Dalkon Shield is a birth control device that caused harm to those who used it. There were so many claims that the company declared bankruptcy. (Although it was later revealed that the company was not bankrupt but declared it to quit paying claims.) These lawsuits led to the Medical Device Amendment. This amendment states that all medical devices need to be tested and approved by the Food and Drug Administration before being sold to the public (Aliprandini and Walter ... • 5. The Mormon Religion The Mormon religion first came to light in the early 1800s, in the northeastern United States. The Second Great Awakening provided the perfect religious atmosphere for new religious dogma. Furthermore, this new religion offered fresh perspective and ideals; which helped to further alienate its followers from mainstream gospel. Faced with extreme prejudice from Protestants, it wasn t until the Mormons fled west that their religious prerogative flourished. The hyper emotional state of affairs originating from the Second Great Awakening resulted in religious turbulence which served as the foundation for Mormonism whose continued development and survival directly correlated to westward expansion and the freedoms of the West. Early in the 19th century, The Second Great Awakening, a popular evangelical movement, was raging through upstate New York. Nicknamed the Burned Over District, this region was often swept by the flames of the Holy Spirit thus creating a supercharged atmosphere perfect for up and coming religious zealots (Gopnik 4). Within this tidal wave of religious fervor the stage was set for the introduction of Mormonism in the 1820s by self proclaimed prophet, Joseph Smith. Claiming the angel Moroni paid him a visit and guided him to a set of buried golden plates, Smith purported that God had blessed him with the ability to understand the ancient texts inscribed upon them (Gopnik 2). • 6. Advantages And Disadvantages Of PLA Despite several advantages ,PLA has some drawbacks as well, which limits its use in certain applications3. PLA has poor toughness (very brittle material with less than 10% elongation at break), slow degradation rate (low crystallinity), hydrophobicity (hydrophobic with a static contact angle of approximately 80В°), lack of reactive side chain groups and poor barrier properties (to moisture and air)3. Moreover, the poor melt strength restricts the applicability of specific processing techniques such as film blowing etc. Several attempts have been made to improve the properties of PLA. Researchers have approached surface modifications to enhance the mechanical properties, especially toughness, processability, degradation behaviour and crystallization11. By the use of surface modification techniques different reactive groups such as COOH, OH, and NH2 can be introduced on the surface of PLA. Grafting technique was utilized by Spinella et al.12, to improve the mechanical and barrier properties of the nanocomposites. • 7. Essay On Sociology Is The Father Of Sociology Sociology 1.What is the science of sociology? Sociology is defined as a systematic arrangement of knowledge that indicates operations in consideration to the general laws. In a general approach, sociology is defined briefly as the study of how human interact in their daily social life. The word sociology is developed from two main other words socio and logos . The meaning of socio is society and the meaning of logos is science. That means sociology is the science used to study human social life. In addition to this sociology is not concerned with only the social interaction but also the daily social changes. Different approaches have been developed for the study and examination of sociology but never has there been an acceptable concept to this study. The reason is that sociology involves a study of human lives and the behaviors and therefore, it is a very complicated topic to study. Sociology is composed by various sociological theories which in many cases they contradict each other leading to a lot of issues about this topic (Horowitz, 2017). That s why freedom of speech is so important because is the main and the introductory part to the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. The founding fathers wrote this right to make sure that United States will be a different country, a better country where everyone could understand each other and that what happened to them (British government) will not happen ever again. In a democratic government also depends on freedom of press and freedom of assembly. Freedom of press is the occurrences that happen every day that are informed or detailed through television, newspaper, internet, magazines or speech without adding or removing any type of information that do not benefit a particular sector. And also is that the people have the right to have their own type of press to express their ideas. Today, freedom of press is a utopia because every country has their own secrets, and covers important information to their citizens. With freedom of press, the countries will have a perfect government not so perfect but the people need to know the truth. The democratic government is a form of government in which the people, either directly or indirectly, take part in governing. Drones have a broad spectrum of wage; from the delivery of pizza, to weather forecasting, to weapons platforms in armed conflict. It is the purpose of this paper to show the use of drones in warfare is necessary and can be ethically justified using the principles of both deontology and utilitarianism. The fact that drones are remotely controlled, sometimes from great distances, does not remove the operators from responsibility, no more than the bullet fired from a gun, it is still the responsibility of the soldier who fired it. Michael Bergmann advises this would be distinction between objective and subjective moral duties he also notes this is fairy common (Bergmann). Deontologicaly speaking the pilot would only be held responsible for the good or wrongness of their actions alone. For example, if a pilot controlling a drone was sent to back up allied troops pinned down by enemy fire and fired two missiles with the first missile striking and neutralizing the enemy combatants. This would be a good thing. However if that second missile missed the target and hit a building where it is unknown if the occupant inside are hostile, it is still a justified use of the drone to defeat an enemy and the drone pilot would not held responsible for unforeseen collateral ... Future Air Transportation System Essay 2.2 FUTURE AIR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS (FANS) : 2.2.1 Introduction to FANS Future Air Navigation Systems (FANS) is a concept that was developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in partnership with Boeing, Airbus, Honeywell and others in the air transport industry to allow more aircraft to safely and efficiently utilize a given volume of airspace. Today FANS is used primarily in the oceanic regions taking advantage of both satellite communication and satellite navigation to effectively create a virtual RADAR environment for safe passage of aircraft. FANS play a key role in supporting many of the evolving CNS/ATM (Communication Navigation Surveillance/ Air Traffic Management) strategies. Today, FANS 1 is the standard used on Boeing aircraft and Airbus standard for FANS is known as FANS A. Both standards are considered first generation FANS architecture. Figure 2(d): FANS architecture The following is a closer look at the FANS requirements from an LRU (Line Replacement Unit) perspective. The Flight Management System (FMS) will receive a comprehensive software load that should include the following components (if not already a part of the previous software loads): RNP RNAV Required Navigation Performance standards are necessary to maintain the navigation performance in the particular oceanic region that supports FANS. Innovation may be linked to positive changes in efficiency, productivity, quality and competitiveness, among other factors. Benefits of innovation could be the improvement in the workforce. By improving the workforce an organisation will benefit from increased productivity and improved morale and lower staff turnover. Employees will feel more valued which therefore increases motivation. This is beneficial to employers because it provides the organisation with knowledgeable, reliable staff who will have a more positive contribution to the needs of the organisation. Staff are a valuable source of innovation, even if it is not expected as a major part of their job. An innovative work environment means being creative and try new techniques. As Albert Einstein said if you always do what you ve always done, you will get what you ve always got. A benefit of change in the organisation would be it promotes creative ways of thinking, so that ideas can be developed to keep the organisation fresh and exciting. • 15. Jonathan Edwards And Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God In the 1600 s the Puritans were the main religious group of that time period and they had very strong ideals on how religion and government should go together. Jonathan Edwards, who shared many of their ideals, preached a sermon called, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God and it had a very big impact on the congregation. Nathaniel Hawthorne, although he was a writer in the 1800 s, he was fascinated with the Puritans and their lifestyles and wrote a short story called, The Minister s Black Veil. Both authors use specific details, tone, and imagery to convey their meaning and style, Edwards harsh and accusatory style was more effective than Hawthorne s melancholy and mysterious style because Edwards helps the reader understand the effects sincan have in one s life. Throughout Sinners Edwards uses specific details to show God s anger towards those who have sinned. In paragraph five of Sinners he says, dreadful pit of the glowing flames of the wrath of God. Edwards uses strong diction here to give the congregation an idea of how angry God is with all who have sinned. Along those same lines, Hawthorne also uses strong diction in his details, for example pale faced congregation on page three of MBV. He uses this detail to be sure the reader knows the effect the veil has on the townspeople and how they were frightened by his veil. Edwards detail on the contrary was more effective because he frightened the audience whereas Hawthorne is very dull in the moment throughout the story. In the same way Edwards surpasses Hawthorne again in effecting the audience more in imagery. Edwards uses frightening imagery to give the congregation and image in their minds to scare them into repenting. In paragraph four of Sinners he declares, the devil is waiting for them, hell is gaping for them, the flames gather and flash about them... this traumatises the audience because in their minds they see hell with the devil waiting to devour them. This persuades them to repent and change their ways because they do not want to burn in hell. Hawthorne on the other hand takes a different approach in imagery. Whereas Edwards does it to help his persuasion Hawthorne does it to help the reader get a better idea of the moral. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is an inappropriate expression of power that affects workers and their productivity in an unfavourable way (Spry, 1998). Management, and other types of employees, who occupy high status roles sometimes believe that harassing their subordinates is within their rights and make demands of the lower status employees (Langton, Robbins, Judge, 2010, p. 313). For example, women within an organization who are highly educated, young, and seeking to move up within the ranks of the organization can be perceived by men as a threat and so are targeted (Mueller, De Coster, amp; Estes, 2001). The corporate culture in which individuals work can also influence who becomes a victim of sexual harassment. Women who work in male dominated occupations or work groups are more likely to be harassed than women who work in female dominated or gender integrated occupations or work groups (Mueller et al., 2001). How can there be such huge differences within the public school system of a country, which claims to provide equal opportunity for all? Towns close enough to easily integrate face almost total segregation with abysmal conditions in the Black and/or Latino schools and tremendously good resources in the white schools. Although the statistics are more than 10 years out of date, the reality of America school segregation has not changed. The barely functional buildings, lack of up to date text books (or in many cases any text books), overcrowded classes, non existent lab and computer equipment, and low paid teachers create a situation of despair that leads to a drop out rate of more than 50% in many districts. And even those who graduate are often barely literate. Kozol draws the clear link between these schools and the imprisonment of the oppressed nations who, after dropping out of a dead end education, end up locked behind bars. The overt racism of this system is exposed when districts with little money run out of space for their kids and try to rent empty space from wealthier districts. This railroad is 3,300 miles long and it is 10 billion dollars, this leads to a big deforestation that can kill many species and can leave many people without homes. As of now, there are many roads created that crisscross along the Brazilian Amazon and many are illegal, about 95%. Fires are another thing that leads to deforestation. Ehrenreich, disoriented and maddened by her rash, turned to her healthcare provider from her original life, managing to obtain medications that relieved her condition. If she did not have that back up resource to tap into, she would be probably be in much more discomfort. Despite how proud most Americans are of the Declaration of Independence and its well known unalienable rights of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness , the United States is one of the only major countries that does not guarantee healthcare to the people as a right of citizenship. Americans pay more than enough taxes for universal single payer healthcare, but we are far from enjoying reliable coverage (Woolhandler 2002). The healthcare system in the United States is complex and fundamentally broken. But various groups of politicians, industries, parties, and people are distracted with pointing to specific targets: the federal government, state governments, public and private hospitals, insurance providers, pharmaceutical and medical equipment providers, doctors and nurses, and the legal system. All these agents have a role in causing this healthcare beast we have now, and it is unlikely that they can ever work together to solve the issues. For the poor, it means that they cannot afford much healthcare. Injuries have to be walked off and an emergency room visit is an impossible expense. Although Medicare has reduced the burden somewhat, the poor still receive sub par healthcare compared to the rest of society. Chronic pain has to be managed by Excedrin and Advil, compensated for with cigarettes and, in one or two cases and then only on weekends, with booze (Ehrenreich 82). The poor is often criticized for substance abuse, be it drugs, alcohol, or more nefarious stimulants. However, Ehrenreich makes it clear that these are necessary to dull the pain acquired from their work. For many of these low wage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. The Prologue Of The Prose Edda I will be doing my source analysis paper on the prologue of the Prose Edda. I ve read this text previously in one of my humanities classes, which is why I chose this text to do my source analysis paper on. Snorri Sturluson, a Christian who wished to preserve the knowledge of the old religion of his lands, composed the Norse creation myth, Prose Edda. I found his molding of the myth into a story featuring a contest between the King and the Old Gods interesting. Kings want to be seen and known as gods to their people and become famous in their part of the world. It seems as though there were better intentions with the Old Gods, and that there was a desire to live as a good person in a good world without the desire for money and power. The prologue involves orthodox Christian tales and demonstrates the pagan gods as being ancient heroes. The prologue from my understanding sets the tone for the text as it starts with the beginning of the tales and creation. I believe it all together was mainly intended for an academic audience rather than a general audience, and perhaps even those who are interested in reading texts involving orthodox Christian tales such as this one. I found the prologue to be based around religious content, which is why I think the targeted audience, would be those interested in religious literature. Regarding the text as a whole, the Prose Edda at first glance classifies itself as a sacrifice creation myth. Ymir is sacrificed and his body is used to create ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Introduce And Critique Neo Realism Introduce and critique Neo Realism Realism came about in post 1930s with the failure of the peace through law approach . The failure of the League of Nations meant there was a decline in the Liberalist International relations theory. Key Liberalist thinkers such as Jackson and Sorensen described liberalism as being optimistic about human nature, that people were capable of moral progress and also liberalist treat states as individual units. The failure of state and human cooperation that led to World War One and Two had deeply undermined the liberalist theory, this led to the importance of the Realist theory who question the optimism of human nature. Realist are often pessimistic on human nature, (Jackson and Sorensen, 2007) argued life is constantly at risk, and nobody can be confident about his or her security and survival for any reasonable length of time... Key Realist thinker Thomas Hobbes also argued that the world consists of self interested individuals and that life is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short . Realism is more useful than liberalism today as we see mass conflict and a lack of trust between humans and states, such as the Islamic State preforming barbaric acts against its own civilians, or the September attacks 2001 which supports the Realist theory that life is constantly at risk . In this essay, Neo Realism will be discussed. Key thinker of Neo Realism has been Kenneth Waltz. His aim was to try and explain why wars are caused in a more systematic ... Dark times have befallen our precious land, and pure chaos has ensued. I write to the people in France in hopes of establishing a new land. A land that can be looked upon proudly with eyes of great virtue. In order to achieve our wildest dreams we must sort through the rubbish that has landed us here in the first place. How will we as a society react to the many things that have been dealt to the people of France? Perhaps our great fight ends in bloodshed, and broken promises. Or perhaps we could take heed of the laws and policies our fellow Europeans across the Sea. I had the pleasure of visiting one of the cities in America that the citizens take so much pride in: Boston, Massachusetts. A port town on the North Eastern coast that was a large part of the American Revolution. It was also home to the Notorious Boston Massacre. There are a number of things that I enjoyed about my trip, but pointing out the differences between Boston and France had to be the most delectable part of my trip. The way in which they practice religion is something to behold. Their new Constitution is also no laughing matter, and lastly the many things Americans find fun is mesmerizing, and also repulsive. America is a tremendous place and I cannot wait to guide you through my journey and inferences. The first voyage I made when I got off the boat was directly towards a church. I decided to visit the Old North Church and as I approached I noticed that the brick work seemed to glisten in the sun, and the white interior reminded me of how pure the world can really be. The church practiced Protestantism, and started soon after the War.[1] I admired the way in which the citizens praised God, but I did happen to notice that their practices were rather different from my own. After talking to some of the Americans most had either commented on my accent or expressed their condolences to the revolution. • 47. China s Growth Rate Of Steady State Essay Introduction Krugman (1994) summarizes two sources of growth that help to expand the national economy. They are increasing input and increasing output per unit of input. Because of the diminishing return to capital, increasing input can only increase the output level in the long run. Therefore, increasing input, such as increasing employment opportunities, increasing the education level of workers, and increasing the stocks of physical capitals, is not sustainable in the long run. On the other hand, increasing the knowledge, which belongs to the increasing output per unit of input, increases the output growth rate in the long run. Krugman concludes that only technological progress can affect the growth rate of steady state in the long run. Different from focusing on how to increase the growth rate in the long run, this study focuses on how to increase the output level in the short and medium run. In the National People s Congress Press Conference in March of 2007, China s Premier Wen Jiabao argues that the biggest problem with China s economy is that the growth is unstable, unbalanced, uncoordinated, and unsustainable. Based on the fact that the current ratio of consumption over output in China is much smaller than that of other countries, such as Japan and the United States, a higher ratio will increase China s real GDP level in the short run. Since the short run real GDP is larger than before, a higher ratio of consumption will increase China s economic growth rate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the new rules of the games got reversed, Katniss and Peeta decide to eat poisonous berries and kill themselves. They wanted to show that they were in control of their own lives even in their current situation. • 51. Corporate Culture Of Healthsouth Corporation Background HealthSouth Corporation was one of the largest publicly traded owners of rehabilitative hospitals within the Untied States and paved the way for its industry. However, prior to 2003 the company had a very dark secret: fraud. In 2003 HealthSouth was accused of making $2.7 billion in false journal entries in the company s system (Helios, 2013). These false entries allowed the corporation to inflate its earnings and revenue. While the corporation was dabbling in a fraudulent, aggressive account system, auditors were unable to detect the extent of the fraud occurring. If not for Michael Vines and Weston Smith, HealthSouth Corporation might have continued its false entries and continued deceiving shareholders and even Wall Street itself. HealthSouth serves as a historical example of how corporate culture can use fraud and deception schemes to not only rationalize what it is doing, which is an element of the fraud triangle, but also encourage fraudulent financial statements. • 52. Essay on The Past and Future of Cuban Foreign Relations Cuban politics has long been defined by foreign relations. One of the charges of the revolutionary leaders Fidel Castro and Che Guevara against Fulgencio Batista was his support from the United States of America. Batista was part of a military coup in 1933, and became President himself by election in 1940. His party lost the next election in 1944 after which he lived in the U.S., gaining allies. On his return to Cubain 1952 he led a second coup to end an election which he was losing. His government was quickly recognized by the U.S., giving him legitimacy, which he turned into unopposed electoral victory in 1954. His regime was characterized by relationship both with the U.S. government and with the American Mafia. He faced almost... Although Dr LleГі was followed as President by Osvaldo DorticГіs, another relatively moderate technocrat, Fidel Castro was Prime Minister and clearly in control of policy. In 1976, Fidel Castro officially became President. Four factors defined hostility between the U.S. and Cuba. First is the Bay of Pigs invasion, where in 1961 a small force of Cuban exiles, backed by the U.S., returned to recapture Cuba with disastrous results. The Bay of Pigs was a disaster for all sides. The U.S., which failed to provide promised air support, lost the trust of the Cuban exile community and was embarrassed internationally. The Cuban government naturally responded by strengthening economic and military ties with the U.S.S.R.. Second is Operation Mongoose along with other covert C.I.A. programs to assassinate Fidel Castro and destabilize the Cuban government. Like the Bay of Pigs, these programs were a complete disaster. At least eight assassination attempts on Fidel Castro, including poisonous cigars, failed only strengthening Fidel s hold on power and his aura of invincibility. Combined with the Bay of Pigs, Operation Condor fostered a somewhat justified culture and rhetoric of paranoia in the Cuban government. To this day, the totalitarian oppression of dissidents is ...
