Family Guy Sociology
The cultivation perspective which, was developed by George Gerber and Larry Gross states that the
more time people spend living in the television world the more likely they are to believe social reality
portrayed on television. With the advances in technology, television still continues to dominate
children s interests, on average youth spend about 4.29 hours watching television per day. Other forms
of electrical devices such as ipads, laptops, and cellular phones make it easier for children to watch
their favorite programs on to go.
I have chosen to analyze an episode of Family Guy , which is a cartoon television show which is

Technology Used By Geographers
One technology used by geographers is remote sensing. Remote sensing is the acquisition of data
using different satellites located around the Earth. The satellites will scan the Earth and relay that
information back to an information center/base back on Earth. Some of the uses of remote sensing are
that geographers are able to use the information they get from the satellites to map different features
across the world such as agriculture, drought, and sprawl. Another type of technology used by
geographers is GPS (global positioning system). GPS is enabled by a multitude of satellites, tracking
stations and receivers to relay the information. GPS most common use is transportation. GPS will

Character Analysis Of Squeaky In Raymond s Run
Why do we have emotions? Emotions are the thing that form us all. Without these emotions we would
just be robots. In life, you can experience good and bad emotions. These good and bad emotions are
represented in the story Raymond s Run by Toni Cade Bambara. In this story the main character
Squeaky. She is a very aggressive and tough person at first sight. However, in this story you can really
see that everyone has a bright and generous side to them. Squeaky has many obstacles in her life, such
as dealing with her brother Raymond. Even though Raymond has been a challenge in her life, she still
cares about him. She protects him from people who hurt him just because he is different. She will go
physical and verbal lengths to protect him from the bullies. Even though she is a aggressive mean girl,
we can see that deep inside, her bad emotions there are good ones.
Squeaky s bad emotions are mostly shown through aggressiveness. But the bad emotions are trying to
hide the fact that Squeaky cares. As the start of the start of the story is happening, Squeaky is
introducing Raymond. She says that many people like to tease Raymond just because he is not ...

From dealing with Raymond, to fighting bullies. Squeaky lives life hard. She protects her inner
feelings and hides them with outer feelings which are very harsh. In her reality, she thinks that she is a
very self confident girl, who does not care what others think about her. However, in real life Squeaky
can t hide what she feels inside. Furthermore, she is a great person who is very caring and feels
sadness. In the story, the author is trying to tell us that even the worst people in life have a good side
to them. Running is what helps Squeaky get away from the problems she has in life. In life you can
not hide what is really inside you. That is what the reader can really see throughout the story. So, the
next time you encounter a mean person, just know they have a good

The trades are in an uprising command. The minimum education to become a pipefitter is a high
school diploma, or the equivalent to that. Most pipefitters are graduates of 4 to 5 year apprenticeship
programs. To get into an apprenticeship program you must be at least 18 years of age and have a high
school diploma. The apprenticeship program may be offered by the certain company, but most are

They also work with other alloy metals. These metals are shaped through welding and bending to fit
specifications for industrial use. Fitters are involved in the process from planning to installation, and
will work with tools such as levels, grinders, dies, and welding torches. They will typically create a
sketch or a blueprint of a pipe installation, or be called upon to use existing blueprints. During this
process, the fitter is also responsible for selecting the type and size of the pipe, as well as choosing
other related materials and equipment that are required for the project. From there, the fitter will
manipulate metal to form the pipes according to specifications. When the pipes are ready, the fitter
will transport them and install them. The installation is one of the most important steps. After
installation is complete, several tests are performed to check for any leaks, support issues, and
performance against high pressure environments. Adjustments are made to ensure the system will run
smoothly until the next maintenance, which is usually performed by a steamfitter. They can also be

The Ethics of Boeing and Mr. Harry Stonecipher Essay
Harry Stonecipher and the ethics of Boeing
Should Harry Stonecipher have been fired for having a consensual affair with another executive at
Boeing Aircraft? The answer is most decidedly yes. In many people s eyes this affair could have
violated the company s code of conduct, and went against the reason Harry Stonecipher was hired. His
actions showed flaws in his character that could have been damaging to the company had he been
allowed to stay. The Boeing board of directors had no other choice than to tender Mr. Stonecipher s
resignation.
It was stated in an article in the March 2008 Tribune Business News that, Although the relationship
did not directly violate Boeing s code of conduct, the board determined that there were ... Show more

Stoneciphers infraction?
Mr. Stonecipher was hired to clean up Boeing, and to keep the company out of the ethical spotlight. It
was therefore his duty to live by the standards he enforced. If he was unable to do that, then he should
have stepped down as CEO before this extra marital affair was brought to light. Hypocrisy is no way
to lead a company. It will only cause dissension among peers and employees.
Senior leaders of a company are the moral rocks that the company bases its values on. If a leader
demonstrates strong moral values and a desire to do what is considered right by the majority of his
employees his attitude will, after a time become infectious. The majority of his employees will begin
to emulate his actions, and begin to modify their values to meet his. This would result in increased
productivity and a more pleasant work environment. At the same time, if that same leader were to
demonstrate questionable values and a do as I say not as I do attitude the same thing would occur. The
majority of his employees would begin to lower their moral values and the overall productivity of the
company would suffer.
Although Mr. Stonecipher was unable to live up to his duties of keeping Boeing out of the ethical
spotlight and setting the standard for his employees to follow, the Boeing board of directors did just
that. By requiring Mr. Stonecipher to tender his resignation they

Existentialism In The Truman Show By Peter Weir
In today s society sometimes people feel like they are being watched. They feel like cameras are
always around them and recording them. They feel people are making sure they are living life
correctly. This is wrong, people should be able to live without being afraid of someone watching them.
People should not control the life of others. The director of the tv show, Christof, uses this quote: We
accept the reality of the world with which were presented. It s as simple as that. In The Truman Show
by Peter Weir, Truman Burbank lives his life on tv set without knowing that his whole life is fake.
There are many symbols in The Truman Show that relate existentialism which is a person s free will.
The life of Truman and his world is just perfect. The Truman Show portrays the theme of
existentialism through symbolism, including Truman figuring out what is real, Christof (the show s
director) acting like God, and Christof controlling Truman s life.
The place where Truman lives is a fake place; it is just the set of a tv show. All of the actors know they
are acting, but Truman does not, that is what makes this show so real. He is just living his life the way
he thinks it should be. Everything about the show is fake, because everything works well, everything
is perfect. The weather in this show is fake because it rains only in certain places. The sunset is always
the same and is amazing. A storm comes out of nowhere and objects fall out of the sky. Not only is the
weather fake, but his relationships are fake. He thinks that his wife in the show really loves him. His
wife is a paid actress pretending to love him. His parents are also paid actors, who even though are
really his parents are not being loving towards him, like parents should be. Truman s best friend acts
kind to him and is there for him, but has been lying to him since he was born. He says that he will
always tell the truth, but Christof is wanting Marlon to say that for the show. Marlon uses this quote
when he talks to Truman, I ve been your best friend since we were seven year old Truman . . . You re
the closest thing I ever had to a brother Truman! . . . But the point is, I d gladly walk in front of traffic
for you, Truman. And the last thing I d ever

The World Of Athletics Has Been Built Around A Binary View
The world of athletics has been built around a binary view of gender. The distinction between genders
is obvious: there is women s sport and there is men s sport. However, in reality, gender biology is not
black and white there is a multitude of ways to be human. The separation of men s and women s sport
leads to a large population of athletes getting stuck in the middle. There is a growing social acceptance
of transgender and intersex individuals in society, however, when it comes to sport these individuals
are often left isolated on an island of controversy. The majority of this controversy surrounds the
debate of whether or not transgender and intersex females should be allowed to compete in women s
sports. Society does not have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It means we must be open to its permutation, in the name of nonviolence. (Butler) . This practice
would help support the reality of transgender and intersex people. We must, as a society, realize that
gender is not black and white, but rather it comes in a multitude of shades. If someone does not fit in
the traditional categories of gender it does not mean that they are inhumane they are humans who
deserve equal rights to those in the majority. In order for transgender athletes to be given an equal
opportunity to pursue their athletic goals we must first reconstruct our notions about gender to create a
society that accepts intersex and transgender individuals as equal counterparts. Transgender females
identify as women and should therefore be allowed to compete as women. Actively excluding
transgender and intersex women from competing in women s sport, the gender they identify with,
would be a step in the wrong direction for both intersex and transgender rights. The primary
opposition to the allowance of transgender and intersex females in women s sport, argues that these
individuals should be excluded because they are not real women. Sex segregation in sport exists
because it ensures fairness for women. If men and women were to compete against one another it is
undeniable that sport

Examples Of Fire Escape In The Glass Menagerie
Have you ever felt like just running away from all of the things that worry you, scare you, and make
you shiver? In The Glass Menagerie the characters only way out of the house is through the fire
escape, it also symbolizes the ability for the characters to escape their daily lives and have some time
to themselves. The movie theatre is a way for Tom to escape his home life, this place feeds Tom s
hunger to escape. After Laura left the University she used to go to the museum, it seems as if has a
deeper meaning than just her hiding away from her mom, but it is a place where she used to escape
from everyone and the the world around her. The need for the characters to escape in the play The
Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, he gave them these locations like the fire escape, movie
theatre, and the museum which he created for their escape. The only way for our characters to get out
of the house in the book is through the fire escape, there is no real front door it is just a fire escape.

Proposal On Body Weight
My aunt, who has had 3 children over the course of 4 years, struggles with her weight. The largest
factor contributing to her excess body weight is the kids. The children are very young and demand an
overwhelming amount of her time as a stay at home mother. Carrying 3 children takes a great toll on
one s body, and she has little time to recover from the last child before carrying the next. A seemingly
continuous state of pregnancy results in reduced exercising, binging, cravings, and loss of motivation.
I recommend that she engage in mommy workouts with her little one s as an activity to occupy her
kids and increase her activity. Mommy workouts are exercises that a mother can complete with her
children, such as raising her little one over her head while doing leg raises, etc. Regarding diet, I
recommend that she reduce the fast food intake that often is resorted to in a demanding lifestyle. In
extension to this, she can substitute high sodium and high fat foods on these menus with salad options.
In order to comply with a busy lifestyle, healthier food options are still possible at home with the use
of a crock pot, which can be set up before the kids wake up. A church member can seldom attend
services due to his struggle with weight, which has recently put him in a wheelchair. A combination of
complications with aging and learned helplessness have resulted in an overwhelming weight struggle.
As he ages, his weight has become harder to manage as physical activity becomes

Medieval Period – Feudal System and Architecture
When people think about the medieval period, they tend to think about the knights in shining armor,
crusades, castles, and kings; however, there was more to the medieval period than just this. There are
also the buildings that housed these great nobles and the men who influenced their design. The designs
for these buildings did no simply materialize out of thin air. These ideas evolved from concepts
derived from various cultures. The interaction between the feudal system and the architecture of the
medieval times influenced the evolution of the later designs.
The early architecture of England starts off with the Carolingian family, who dominated most of
Western Europe politics. They tried to emulate the Roman architecture and also ... Show more content

Most large windows are arched while the majority of smaller windows are square with a brace to help
bare the weight of the building. The doorways are also arched unless the door is set in a hallway that is
an arch like shape then the door will be of an ordinary design (Harvey 96). This style of architecture
was not made to stand in war. When the time of the Crusades began England was unprepared to
defend itself. William I, otherwise known as William the Conqueror, led a group of invaders into
England and removed Edward the Confessor from his throne. William implemented a new type of
social structure called feudalism.
Three main things characterize the feudal system after the fall of the Carolingian Empire. First, there
was no defined governmental system present. So the power of rule fell into local landowners. Second,
power was treated as the ruler s possession; the power and right to rule was a private matter that would
be uncontestable by the public. This power could be used as an item of trade, so to speak, or even a
gift. Finally, and perhaps the most dominant characteristic, was the affinity between a ruling lord and
his vassals which, for all intents and purposes, was chiefly military based. William I, or William the
Conqueror, brought about this system and he was both the ruler of England and the Duke of
Normandy. Unfortunately, it is impossible for him to be at two places at once, so it proved a problem

The Visual Characteristics Of Tea And Porcelain In China
The visual sources provided throughout 14.1 14.4 assist in showing what items were used, and why
they were there at the time; while the descriptions give us evidence of how the products were
collected. In 14.1, there s many foreign items to take note of in the visual source provided that is Tea
and Porcelain in China. For example, the Porcelain tea cups, teapot, and saucer are all in the image to
show what materials were used at the time. Though the tea cups were manufactured in China, they
were specifically made for the target audience of European buyers. There is evidence of this shown in
the Chinese patterns on the cups and teapots. The Chinese floral designs, clothing styles, creativity,
and more had a major impact on the desires of the elite upper class in Europe as they had become
widely fascinated with all things Chinese. While the Chinese had realized this liking of their designs
by the European market, they used this to target their buyers by making the teacups with cultured
designs such as the Chinese gardens but also tied in the European style houses to cater to the tastes of
the European consumers. The woman shown in the visual source looks as if she is from the upper
class. Judging by her silk dress and that she is using the Porcelain cups makes it most likely that this is
the case. If the dress was of unimportance, then there could be the possibility that she is involved in
the trade but I would argue that she is in fact in the elite upper class. This take

Is Lottery a Good Idea?
Lottery is one of the best things that has ever happened to human kind especially those that dream
high and but their dreams don t come to life because they don t have what it takes to make it happen.
Lotteries are in various categories such as sweep stakes, scratch off, the Jackpot and even the green

people in general buy the lottery ticket their hopes are high, and they anxiously await with anticipation

projects such as paving streets, constructing wharves, even building churches. In the 18th century,
lotteries were used to finance construction of buildings at Harvard and Yale. This shows that lottery
has been around for a long time. Today, most states have adopted lottery system especially the

is so because these states have seen the growth of income that come from lotto. Each state has rules

What Are The Similarities Between Baroque And Baroque Eras
Introduction
European design has evolved over the centuries from the Renaissance era of the 15th century to
Baroque era of the 16th century right through to the Rococo era of the late 1700 s. Even though the
style might have changed, some elements can be traced across all three periods.
This essay will explore the similarities and differences in the aforementioned eras by singling out 4
different examples from these eras and how these influenced or affected the society and patrons who
commissioned these artworks at that time.
Emphasis will be placed on specific examples that best demonstrate the style of each era. The image
examples used in this essay are firstly the ceiling of the Sistine chapel and the bronze David by

After the peak of the Renaissance era of 1600 Rome, there was a move towards a style that was more
dramatic and celebrated the church and the elite. This style melodramatically reaffirmed the emotional
depths of the catholic faith and glorified both the church and monarch (History of Art, 1933:284).
Baroque is distinguished by the grander sense of space in architecture, intense emotion and movement
in painting and sculpture. Opulence and grandeur is often displayed in the ostentatious interiors homes
of the elite and the church was highly decorated.
Some similarities between Baroque and Renaissance eras, is the strong use of light and shade to create
depth and realism.
The word Baroque derives from the Portuguese word barocco which seems to imply an irregularly
shaped or imperfect pearl. Which is quite ironic since Baroque design was anything but imperfect.
Rococo
The style of the Rococo period can be characterised as being playful and asymmetrical as opposed to
that of Baroque. Though there are similarities between the two stylistic periods, Rococo design is
more ornate and motifs usually resemble shells and stones and the intricate designs are often gilded
with gold and other precious metals. The colour palette is muted and emphasis is placed on the design

Taking a Look at Belgium Culture
Belgium Culture
Belgium is located north of France and south of the Netherlands. It covers an area of 11,780 sq. miles.
There are two major rivers in Belgium, the Schelde and Meuse, both start in France and flow north
towards Netherlands. The land in the southern Belgium, which is called Wallonia, is hillier than the
northern part of Belgium, a region called Flanders. Brussels is the capital city in Belgium, located in
the center of the country, and it has more than a million residents. Belgium is one of the most
urbanized and densely inhabited countries in the world with about 97 percent of the 10 million
inhabitants living in cities in 2000. (1) Not many people live outside of the cities in Belgium. There
are many medium and smaller sized cities in Belgium. Many people in Belgium live in a city and have
their job in another.
There are three national languages in Belgium, Dutch, French, and German. The Dutch and French
languages are the most commonly spoken languages in the country. In Wallonia the language most
spoken there is French, and in Flanders the language spoken is Dutch, it is also called Flemish. This
has been a point of contention between the two regions. Many people to the north want only Flemish,
or Dutch, spoken throughout the country. Going back to the 1800 s French was the official language
spoken in Belgium. Since then there has been a Flemish revival in Belgium. This is tied into their
national identity. Since Belgium moved away from their French

commonly referred to, Babylonian captivity of the papacy which was when the papal court was moved
to France and French cardinals who later became popes from 1309 1378 resided in Avignon, France (a
total of seven French popes by the papal names Clement V all the way to Gregory XI, who moved the
court back to Rome) while being heavily influenced by the French kings; this also resulted to the
decline of the papal power and authority (Miller, Study.com).
The Babylonian captivity ended after the death of Gregory XI in 1378, with the deposition of the
papal court from France back to Rome to end the upheaval within the holy city. The movement of the
church from Rome to France caused so much disturbance in Rome that when Gregory moved the
papal court back to Rome, the people were demanding that an Italian pope be elected after Gregory s
death. This led to the election of Urban VI, whose non papal name was Bartolommeo Prignano, and
was chosen by the cardinals. However, the city was in major turmoil from the so called Babylonian
captivity that the Vatican palace (or papal palace) was stormed

Early Dismissal Of High School Students
Another way that early dismissal of senior student would be beneficial is financially. Students have to
balance work along with school and extracurricular activities, have an even more difficult time
earning good grades, and handling responsibilities. Many students are responsible for paying for their
own clothing, shoes, car, gas, athletic fees and equipment, and in unfavorable situations, they must
help support their family. A part time job is a great way to earn some extra income; one in four high
school students hold a steady part time job (Coppernoll). Additionally, students might learn to be more
mature through the responsibility of having a job.

Senior year has so many responsibilities, activities, and obligations, that adding unnecessary classes
are a major misuse of senior s time. Electives are great classes that everyone should have the chance to
experience throughout high school; however, the demanding tasks that are a part of senior year are far
more important. Athletics, jobs, and extracurricular activities are important parts of high school
students lives, but they do come with added stress. To help relieve some of the stress, school boards
should consider allowing students to capitalize the hours that are not spent on requisite classes.
Between work, scholarships, sports, clubs, and school work, students have plenty to keep them off the
streets and out of trouble. Along with benefiting students in the present situation, this would also
prepare students for the upcoming college schedule. This would give seniors a glimpse of how college
life will look like, and how they would need to manage their time. If students have all the required
classes complete, they deserve the free time for which they have earned. Not only are the senior
students benefited, but also the school in its entirety. With less students in the halls, there would be
little congestion during passing periods and lunch. This would allow the whole school to run smoother
and more efficiently. Overall, releasing senior high school students would

Pros And Negatives Of The Internet

young people have experienced cyber threats online. Well over half of young people do not tell their
parents when cyber bullying occurs . Parents and teens can do some things that help reduce the cyber
bullying: Encourage teens to tell an adult if cyber bullying is occurring. Tell them if they are the
victims they will not be punished, and reassure them that being bullied is not their fault, Teens should
never tell their password to anyone except a parent, and should not write it down in a place where it
could be found by others. The little things you as a parent can do can make a huge difference to
whether or not your child can get cyber bullied. Just give them a certain time limit when using a

Return of Martin Guerre
Starting with the premodern society and moving on to our modern society I will compare and contrast
the two societies. In the film The Return of Martin Guerre, the people lived on a pre modern society.
They lived in a agricultural society and this was shown by many reasons. First they had permanent
homes and used animals as well as tools to work their crops. They also used a crop rotation instead of
burning the land. This is just a basic outline of the society that Martin lived in. Looking deeper into
their social structure their society was much different than a modern one. As far as statuses and roles,
Martins society believe that status was more ascribed than achieved. This meant that being an older

Events such as marriage were shared and talked about and doing things as an individual wasnot
common, like Martin originally leaving the village. Another example is that when the travelers came
into town they were not seen as trustworthy even though they claimed that the person they called
Martin was Arnaud. became suspicious not only of the strangers but also Arnaud. Going onto our
modern society there is a clear contrast but some similarities between now and the premodern society.
First, looking at the type of society we live in it is considered a information society. Unlike
agricultural, which was based off of growing crops and creating a food surplus, we create and store
information. We divide our labor like the ag. society but it is highly specialized work. People in an
information society also have a permanent settlement, instead of living in a village we live in suburban
residences outside of large cities. Included in this is commuting for work which means people now
have to travel farther distances to work. The main social focus is based off of consumption not
production like agricultural. Finally, children are seen more as expensive not a helping hand or
insurance when you get older like the premodern societies. Going to statuses and roles in a modern
society, there are very little similarities to the premodern. Unlike premodern,

Pangea The lost Super Continent
Our planet is carrying so much secrets while it rotates its axis, and revolves around the sun in elliptic
path. The biggest question man that ever faced is, why do living organisms have so much biodiversity
since they all come from a common ancestor? In order to answer this question, we have to see the
earth s past life. Rodina is the first supercontinent in our whole geological time period, and the
meaning of this word is homeland in Russian language. This Precambrian continent was the dominant

Women in Beowulf , Widsith and Icelandic Sagas
Are women in these poems active equals of the men? Or are they passive victims of the men? The

sometimes ones giving freedom of choice, range of activity, and opportunity for personal growth and

Observation In Early Childhood Education
Observation
In order to be a good educator, it is critical to observe children during their learning experiences.
Observations allow the educator to determine what the child knows, can do and understand (Early
Childhood Australia, 2012, p.1). Observations help the educator to implement experiences, which are
of interest to the children helping to build on their knowledge. According to Curtis Carter (2013, p.
16) educators have many demands and distractions; therefore learning to pay attention requires
systematic study and ongoing practice. It was nice to conduct an experience with two children,
however, I feel that in an early childhood setting there would be many distractions that I would have
to overcome.

When interacting with the children I was sure to stand back and observe them allowing them to
engage with one another. Only when the children asked for help or included me in the experience did I
contribute. By doing this I felt that I was able to offer both Liliana and Ella the time required to
engage in the experience and with one another. Liliana took photos of Ella and I and we all reflected
on what was happening (Curtis Carter, 2013, p.15). This continued throughout the experience with us
discussing what could be seen and what the children were doing allowing us to all reflect on the
experience and the chance for me to enhance their learning.
Interpretation
Interpreting what is happening throughout the experience is essential, allowing the educator to reflect
on the experience. According to the DEEWR (2009, p. 17) interpretation allows educators to collect
rich and meaningful information, which describes their progress and identifies the children s strengths,
skills, and understanding. By conducting observations during the experience, I was able to interpret
what was happening in the experience at a later time.
I used observations, which included jottings, photographs and recorded the experience. By using a

Honeycomb tire
Introduction
Getting a flat tire is never convenient. When we find our car s tire is broke in the street, it is hard for
us to do something for it. We may call some towing companies to towing our car to some place safe.
But it need cost a lot of money. Why the tire can flat, because inside of the tire is air. We using a lot of
air inside of the tire, so we can hold our car. The hub will not touch the ground. So if we want to have

The Genetic Disorder of Down Syndrome
Noo Why my baby, this mother has just been given the news that her child has been diagnosed with
Down Syndrome. Her child was one of many who will have trouble reading out loud or to even
communicate. Who will grow up with not knowing if today will be a good day or not. Down
Syndrome is just one case of genetic disorder. There are so many all over in the world and many
doctors still don t even know what to call them. Some don t even know they have a disease in them till
its too late, or other know all there lives and some learn to live with the disease and others live every
day in fear of getting even more sick and hurt.
Genetic disorders are very common some more than others. Its all has to do with our 46 chromosomes.
Genetic disorders can occur to anyone. Many people believe genetic disorders only happen to those
who have family cases with genetic disorders but, it s not something you can truly control. When a
cell is going through Meiosis the outcome should be that every gametes should have 23 chromosomes
which carry your genetic code. At the beginning of Meiosis each homologous chromosomes pairs up
with another homologous chromosome and then they start exchanging genetic code. This process is
called Crossing Over. During this process there is a small chance that the exchange didn t happen
properly and not all the genetic code was transfer from one another. Which can later result in your
genetic code failure.
Another Cause of a genetic disorder is if there aren t

It all began when Theo van Gogh was trying to look for a place for his brother, Vincent van Gogh to

Beta Latamase Lab Report
A. General Information on Lactamase
1. What is the name of your enzyme? Are there any isozymes for your enzyme? If so, which one will

The enzyme that will be focused on is the Beta lactamase enzyme. There exist many isozymes
including Beta lactamase (Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Enteritidis str. 2010K 0284) and
Beta lactamase (Thermoanaerobacter sp). The enzyme that will be reported on is the type TEM 1 Beta

The TEM 1 type of Beta lactamase is the most common lactamase enzyme found in E. coli. More

To determine the kinetic parameters of Beta lactamase, one must be able to perform an experiment
that could be converted into a Michaelis Menten plot. This means that the assay must study the
relationship between the velocity of an enzyme catalyzed reaction is and the substrate concentration,
where velocity is dependent on the substrate concentration (15). The substrate that could be used is
penicillin G. There would be multiple repetitions of the same procedure. For each run of the assay, the
following procedure would be used:
I. Use 10 test tubes with the same amount of B lactamase in each.
II. It would be the amount of substrate (penicillin G) that would vary in increasing amounts in each
test tube. One test tube will have no substrate with each tube having more substrate than the other until
there is a lot of substrate.
III. Measure the initial velocity by determining the rate of product formation in moles per second in
each test tube. The initial velocity would be later converted to the amount of substrate molecules

Destiny Of The Republic Analysis
Destiny of the Republic was a story of the life and death of James A. Garfield. It was told in the

as a janitor and was later moved up to assistant professor. He wanted to be the top in his class. He was

Organizational Decentralization
I. Organizational Decentralization
Rationale of Decentralization The term decentralization is often used in business environments and
can be defined as the organizational severance and division of power, capital, and technical procedures
and control into multiple units of the business.1 Decentralized corporations make it possible for
managers to control without ownership. 4 In decentralized organizations, the breakdown is that the
president of each unit of a business is on his or her own management wise. The president of each unit
is provided a board of directors and a financial budget from the parent company, but is allowed to run
the company with no hindrance as long as financial goals are met. 2 Decentralization is seen as an
issue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And even though each unit is run independently, headquarters must provide an overall main financial
plan for units to follow. The financial plan should include guidelines on such things as suitable profit
margin and return on investment obligations. It is also up to headquarters to maintain adequate watch
over each unit to ensure that they are performing freely within reasonability. It is important that unit
action is free of detriment to the company s reputation as a whole. 2
There should also be a certain degree of expert functions performed by a competent staff. It would
benefit a company more to have organizational units that focused on specific functions, instead of
having each units employees and equipment perform multiple tasks. The reason is due to cost; it can
become expensive to re equip a machine to shift from performing one function to performing
another.1
Measuring Performance In order for a decentralized organization to be successful, it must be
accommodating and led by proposals, values, and objectives that are not only steady but are relevant
to long term practice. 1 According to a study done by McKinsey and Co. a successful decentralized
company is simple in form and low on staff. It has continued contact with past clients and emphasizes
skills and abilities that are best known. When emphasizing its best skills, a successful unit focuses on

Constructivism As A Victim Of The Bolshevik Revolution
Constructivism was the last and most influential modern art movement to flourish in Russia in the
20th century. It evolved just as the Bolsheviks came to power in the October Revolution of 1917, and
initially it acted as a lightning rod for the hopes and ideas of many of the most advanced Russian
artists who supported the revolution s goals. It borrowed ideas from Cubism, Suprematism and
Futurism, but at its heart was an entirely new approach to making objects, one which sought to abolish
the traditional artistic concern with composition, and replace it with construction. Constructivism
called for a careful technical analysis of modern materials, and it was hoped that this investigation
would eventually yield ideas that could be put to use in mass production, serving the ends of a
modern, Communist society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

worked in industry. Russian Constructivism was in decline by the mid 1920s, partly a victim of the

been an endless game of cat and mouse as websites keep reappearing under different domains.
Moreover, pirates can use Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to get around the blocked sites. 3.2
Current Statistics and Future Trends
According to the Australian Site Blocking Efficacy Report produced by online analysis company
INCORPO, there has been an overall piracy has declined by 25 percent year on year. The Federal
Court has ordered the closure of 65 piracy sites and over 378 related domains since the site blocking

Arthur Dimmesdale Symbolism
The character of the reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, despite the apparent single line interpretation of his
character is a difficult phenomenon. Based on the topic of our analysis, first of all we have to find out
if this image bears a symbolic meaning.
In the case of Dimmesdale we don t speak about any sweeping generalizations that go beyond the
narrative. This character remains in the circle of the known, to him puritanical notions of sin and
punishment and the possibility of rebellion could never reach his mind.( Because Arthur perceives the
world entirely through moral categories, he must see himself in just the same way as the crowd
perceived Hester in the first scaffold scene: he is a sinner, nothing more ) The nature of this character
is definitely not versatile for Hawthorne highlights in him only those qualities that are very close to
each other: cowardice, timidity, lack of fortitude and listlessness. This suggests that Dimmesdale is
nothing more than an allegory or even a schematic personification of an abstract concept. His tragedy
is not a confrontation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The energetic Hester gives strength to the languishing pastor and calls for escape. Inspired by Hester s
desire, he starts for the first time to feel truly happy and free.
When we consider this character, the line between artistic symbol and allegory is quite shaky, but
despite the fact that Hawthorne constantly emphasizes repentance as one of the main features of the
hero, Dimmesdale s character is not completely unambiguous. Arthur Dimmesdale on the one hand is
a hypocrite, but he also loves truth and sincerity. His whole life in the novel is the way for the solemn
moment of the revealing of his secret but along the way there are insights (the scene on the scaffold
with Hester and Pearl) and

The Main Contours Of English Colonization In The 17th...
1. The main contours of English Colonization in the 17th century were Protestant motives to strike
Catholicism, along with solving England s social crisis. With the rumors of the Spanish Empire s
atrocities reaching England, one motive to colonize the America s was to strike the Catholics, and save
the natives from captivity (Foner 51). This shows an interesting aspect of the English Colonization:
the English allowed their people to go colonize just to strike the opposing religious country. Along
with this, England sending emigrants over solved their social crisis. Because of England s growing
population and economy, the amount of peasants in cities grew. This is because of landlords using land
for sheep, which kicked out peasants from their land (Foner 51 52). England hoped that some people
of the lower classes would then go to America: to be out of the big cities where important people
were, while still helping England in it s economy. 2. Some obstacles the English settlers in the
Chesapeake overcame were indentured servitude and getting land from the natives. A majority of the
settlers were indentured servants, and for all of the servants, they had to do a certain number of years
of labor to be free (Foner 54). This was an obstacle that a lot of settlers had to overcome. It was a
tough obstacle, with the labor being really intense, and many indentured servants were dying. Another
obstacle that settlers overcame was the need for land, which meant dealing with the Indians.

Intelligence, Surveillance, And Reconnaissance Operations
Introduction
The United States (US) Intelligence Community (IC) requires a succinct method for measuring the
collection effectiveness of Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) operations of both National Technical
Means (NTM) and airborne Sensitive Reconnaissance Operations (SRO) Intelligence, Surveillance,
and Reconnaissance (ISR) collection. Intelligence professionals seek to leverage the GEOINT
capabilities at their disposal to satisfy validated requirements in the most efficient manner possible
due to the high demand, low density nature of ISR GEOINT assets. With the number of validated
collection requirements surpassing the collection capacity available to collection managers there must
be an effective manner of evaluating the GEOINT collection strategy to ensure the greatest amount of
GEOINT is collected to satisfy a Joint Force Commander s (JFC) Priority Intelligence Requirements
(PIR). This imbalance between the amount of collection that is needed and the capacity available to
acquire and exploit the images drives home the necessity for a GEOINT collection strategy that
incorporates a method for measuring its effectiveness of satisfying requirements throughout the
execution cycle of collection operations.
When discussing the options available for measuring GEOINT collection effectiveness a brief
background section will highlight the significance of ISR GEOINT collection across the six phases of
operations. Additionally, the background section will provide a review of

Monologue About A Wife
Dr. Cary, Lisa and Jeremy, This is the story of Ben and why I consider myself as, refurbished and see
if I hit the bulls eye as well. I have only ever asked for help from one person, the person I love and
want to marry. You three have been my, strategically placed rocks that I latched on to when I needed
someone the most and was drowning in my own river of fear, uncertainty and insecurities. I only
broke completely down in front of Jeremy the day I laid my head on his lap and asked for new shoes
and a vacation, knowing he was the love of my life and always would be and he d call in more support
than I already had but couldn t see and do whatever was needed to help me, seeing me in the shape I
was in. This team that was already ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe you were a project manager in this.. if not the ring leader. I guess you saw the good in me
and from what I d been through and carried around and my own sheltered upbringing everyone
realized I had a good heart and head I was simply letting others and substances control both and
started being Unable to deal which boils down to control of my choices and accountability. Once they
realized I d need to be tossed up a level, they removed the only structure I had know as a road block (a
JOB). Working since I was 16 it was a hard blow not having that. More support was brought in and as
soon as it left I tripped and feel back down into this damn cycle again. In the meantime, Jeremy was
trying to love me and I loved him but knew I had to much shit on my plate for a partner to deal with if
I couldn t myself. So I ran away (in circles) not knowing how to ask for help or deal . Why I was hired
at Nurses Registry and enjoyed it at first, then temptation of my cycle came back and I fell right into it
again with the same three things, pot, grinder and boo s. Finally everyone realized my family was also
smothering the shit out of me... while my support team was trying to help, so it created a paranoia in
me and I didn t trust anyone but

Incidents In The Kite Runner
Within the police force itself there were multiple defections to the Taliban along with stolen military
equipment. The most outrageous scenes were Afghan military and police employing young boys as
chai workers . These kids were house slaves and frequently sexually assaulted, along with placing
them in positions of immediate danger. The incidents with these boys were graphic, three were shot
dead trying to escape. Upon confrontation of the police chief he claims that these boys liked being
there and giving their asses at night. If my commanders don t fuck these boys, who will they fuck?
Their own grandmothers . Clearly if the police chief does not want to advocate change, a major
Western goal was not succeeding. The Afghan soldiers were

Essay On Dark House
My watched ticked 6: 30 PM as I waited outdoor the eating place for my night meal to reach. It
became a specially chilly summer season night in Silicon Valley, yet it had a heat feeling to it. The

  • 10. The Ethics of Boeing and Mr. Harry Stonecipher Essay Harry Stonecipher and the ethics of Boeing Should Harry Stonecipher have been fired for having a consensual affair with another executive at Boeing Aircraft? The answer is most decidedly yes. In many people s eyes this affair could have violated the company s code of conduct, and went against the reason Harry Stonecipher was hired. His actions showed flaws in his character that could have been damaging to the company had he been allowed to stay. The Boeing board of directors had no other choice than to tender Mr. Stonecipher s resignation. Hypocrisy is no way to lead a company. It will only cause dissension among peers and employees. Senior leaders of a company are the moral rocks that the company bases its values on. If a leader demonstrates strong moral values and a desire to do what is considered right by the majority of his employees his attitude will, after a time become infectious. • 11. Existentialism In The Truman Show By Peter Weir In today s society sometimes people feel like they are being watched. They feel like cameras are always around them and recording them. They feel people are making sure they are living life correctly. This is wrong, people should be able to live without being afraid of someone watching them. People should not control the life of others. The director of the tv show, Christof, uses this quote: We accept the reality of the world with which were presented. It s as simple as that. In The Truman Show by Peter Weir, Truman Burbank lives his life on tv set without knowing that his whole life is fake. There are many symbols in The Truman Show that relate existentialism which is a person s free will. The life of Truman and his world is just perfect. The Truman Show portrays the theme of existentialism through symbolism, including Truman figuring out what is real, Christof (the show s director) acting like God, and Christof controlling Truman s life. The place where Truman lives is a fake place; it is just the set of a tv show. All of the actors know they are acting, but Truman does not, that is what makes this show so real. He is just living his life the way he thinks it should be. Everything about the show is fake, because everything works well, everything is perfect. The weather in this show is fake because it rains only in certain places. The sunset is always the same and is amazing. A storm comes out of nowhere and objects fall out of the sky. Not only is the weather fake, but his relationships are fake. He thinks that his wife in the show really loves him. His wife is a paid actress pretending to love him. His parents are also paid actors, who even though are really his parents are not being loving towards him, like parents should be. Truman s best friend acts kind to him and is there for him, but has been lying to him since he was born. He says that he will always tell the truth, but Christof is wanting Marlon to say that for the show. Marlon uses this quote when he talks to Truman, I ve been your best friend since we were seven year old Truman . . . You re the closest thing I ever had to a brother Truman! . . . But the point is, I d gladly walk in front of traffic for you, Truman. And the last thing I d ever ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The World Of Athletics Has Been Built Around A Binary View The world of athletics has been built around a binary view of gender. The distinction between genders is obvious: there is women s sport and there is men s sport. However, in reality, gender biology is not black and white there is a multitude of ways to be human. The separation of men s and women s sport leads to a large population of athletes getting stuck in the middle. There is a growing social acceptance of transgender and intersex individuals in society, however, when it comes to sport these individuals are often left isolated on an island of controversy. The majority of this controversy surrounds the debate of whether or not transgender and intersex females should be allowed to compete in women s sports. Society does not have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It means we must be open to its permutation, in the name of nonviolence. (Butler) . This practice would help support the reality of transgender and intersex people. We must, as a society, realize that gender is not black and white, but rather it comes in a multitude of shades. If someone does not fit in the traditional categories of gender it does not mean that they are inhumane they are humans who deserve equal rights to those in the majority. In order for transgender athletes to be given an equal opportunity to pursue their athletic goals we must first reconstruct our notions about gender to create a society that accepts intersex and transgender individuals as equal counterparts. Transgender females identify as women and should therefore be allowed to compete as women. Actively excluding transgender and intersex women from competing in women s sport, the gender they identify with, would be a step in the wrong direction for both intersex and transgender rights. The primary opposition to the allowance of transgender and intersex females in women s sport, argues that these individuals should be excluded because they are not real women. Sex segregation in sport exists because it ensures fairness for women. If men and women were to compete against one another it is undeniable that sport ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mommy workouts are exercises that a mother can complete with her children, such as raising her little one over her head while doing leg raises, etc. Regarding diet, I recommend that she reduce the fast food intake that often is resorted to in a demanding lifestyle. In extension to this, she can substitute high sodium and high fat foods on these menus with salad options. In order to comply with a busy lifestyle, healthier food options are still possible at home with the use of a crock pot, which can be set up before the kids wake up. Medieval Period – Feudal System and Architecture When people think about the medieval period, they tend to think about the knights in shining armor, crusades, castles, and kings; however, there was more to the medieval period than just this. There are also the buildings that housed these great nobles and the men who influenced their design. The designs for these buildings did no simply materialize out of thin air. These ideas evolved from concepts derived from various cultures. The interaction between the feudal system and the architecture of the medieval times influenced the evolution of the later designs. This style of architecture was not made to stand in war. When the time of the Crusades began England was unprepared to defend itself. William I, otherwise known as William the Conqueror, led a group of invaders into England and removed Edward the Confessor from his throne. William implemented a new type of social structure called feudalism. Three main things characterize the feudal system after the fall of the Carolingian Empire. First, there was no defined governmental system present. So the power of rule fell into local landowners. Second, power was treated as the ruler s possession; the power and right to rule was a private matter that would be uncontestable by the public. This power could be used as an item of trade, so to speak, or even a gift. Finally, and perhaps the most dominant characteristic, was the affinity between a ruling lord and his vassals which, for all intents and purposes, was chiefly military based. The Visual Characteristics Of Tea And Porcelain In China The visual sources provided throughout 14.1 14.4 assist in showing what items were used, and why they were there at the time; while the descriptions give us evidence of how the products were collected. In 14.1, there s many foreign items to take note of in the visual source provided that is Tea and Porcelain in China. For example, the Porcelain tea cups, teapot, and saucer are all in the image to show what materials were used at the time. Though the tea cups were manufactured in China, they were specifically made for the target audience of European buyers. There is evidence of this shown in the Chinese patterns on the cups and teapots. The Chinese floral designs, clothing styles, creativity, and more had a major impact on the desires of the elite upper class in Europe as they had become widely fascinated with all things Chinese. While the Chinese had realized this liking of their designs by the European market, they used this to target their buyers by making the teacups with cultured designs such as the Chinese gardens but also tied in the European style houses to cater to the tastes of the European consumers. The woman shown in the visual source looks as if she is from the upper class. Judging by her silk dress and that she is using the Porcelain cups makes it most likely that this is the case. If the dress was of unimportance, then there could be the possibility that she is involved in the trade but I would argue that she is in fact in the elite upper class. This take ... This style melodramatically reaffirmed the emotional depths of the catholic faith and glorified both the church and monarch (History of Art, 1933:284). Baroque is distinguished by the grander sense of space in architecture, intense emotion and movement in painting and sculpture. The Great Papal Schism In The Roman Catholic Church The Great Papal Schism The Great Papal Schism is also known as the Western Schism that lasted from 1378 1417, during which the papacy (the position itself) was in great divide between three popes in the Roman Catholic Church. This political upheaval within the Roman Catholic Church caused distrust of the western civilization towards the church. It began after the Avignon Papacy or the more commonly referred to, Babylonian captivity of the papacy which was when the papal court was moved to France and French cardinals who later became popes from 1309 1378 resided in Avignon, France (a total of seven French popes by the papal names Clement V all the way to Gregory XI, who moved the court back to Rome) while being heavily influenced by the French kings; this also resulted to the decline of the papal power and authority (Miller, Study.com). The Babylonian captivity ended after the death of Gregory XI in 1378, with the deposition of the papal court from France back to Rome to end the upheaval within the holy city. The movement of the church from Rome to France caused so much disturbance in Rome that when Gregory moved the papal court back to Rome, the people were demanding that an Italian pope be elected after Gregory s death. This led to the election of Urban VI, whose non papal name was Bartolommeo Prignano, and was chosen by the cardinals. G.B.F. is a movie that explores the life of a gay high school student but fails drastically to create a narrative based on the real lives of LGBT persons and the result is riddled with inaccuracies, stereotypes, and a lack of diversity. G.B.F. is about Tanner, a closeted high school teenager who lives in a town with no openly gay people. However, with the vote for prom queen coming up, the three contenders, Fawcett, Shley, and Caprice all want a Gay Best Friend to give them that edge over their competition. They set out on a manhunt to find their own real life gay and accidentally out Tanner to the whole school. Now, North Gate High has its first openly gay student. Tanner skyrockets to popularity among the majority of his classmates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Topher is introduced to the audience as Shley s boyfriend. However, once Topher finally gets some alone time with Tanner, he sexually assaults him by forcing Tanner to make out with him. When Tanner tries to elicit an explanation from Topher over his uncharacteristic behavior, Topher says that he s experimenting and needs to get it out of his system (G.B.F. 2013). He then proceeds to make out with Tanner, even touching his crotch and legs in the process. Tanner has the physically remove himself from the car in order to get Topher to stop. Later in the movie, Topher corners Brent in the supply closet and forces himself on Brent. Similarly, Topher does not care the Brent has never expressed a sexual interest in him, he simply forces himself onto the only two gay men he knows so that he can fulfill some sort of fantasy or urge he has. Topher is obviously not straight, however, it is unclear whether he is gay, bisexual, fluid, or pansexual. Either way, Topher is a member of the LGBT community and his actions portray them in a horrible light. Topher sexually assaults two men in this movie without their consent, making it seem like closeted members of the LGBT community are only horny and violent. For a movie that is supposed to display the LGBT community is a positive light, G.B.F. does a horrible job portraying Topher as a questioning teenager trying to figure out his sexuality. The producers could have used Topher to show the side of the LGBT community that is in the process of questioning their sexuality and experimenting, but they instead choose to only show Topher as a horny and violent ... • 39. Constructivism As A Victim Of The Bolshevik Revolution Constructivism was the last and most influential modern art movement to flourish in Russia in the 20th century. It evolved just as the Bolsheviks came to power in the October Revolution of 1917, and initially it acted as a lightning rod for the hopes and ideas of many of the most advanced Russian artists who supported the revolution s goals. It borrowed ideas from Cubism, Suprematism and Futurism, but at its heart was an entirely new approach to making objects, one which sought to abolish the traditional artistic concern with composition, and replace it with construction. Constructivism called for a careful technical analysis of modern materials, and it was hoped that this investigation would eventually yield ideas that could be put to use in mass production, serving the ends of a modern, Communist society. ... Some continued to insist on the value of abstract, analytical work, and the value of art per se; these artists had a major impact on spreading Constructivism throughout Europe. Others, meanwhile, pushed on to a new but short lived and disappointing phase known as Productivism, in which artists worked in industry. Russian Constructivism was in decline by the mid 1920s, partly a victim of the Bolshevik regime s increasing hostility to avant garde art. But it would continue to be an inspiration for artists in the West, sustaining a movement called International Constructivism which flourished in Germany in the 1920s, and whose legacy endured into the ... • 41. Arthur Dimmesdale Symbolism The character of the reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, despite the apparent single line interpretation of his character is a difficult phenomenon. Based on the topic of our analysis, first of all we have to find out if this image bears a symbolic meaning. In the case of Dimmesdale we don t speak about any sweeping generalizations that go beyond the narrative. This character remains in the circle of the known, to him puritanical notions of sin and punishment and the possibility of rebellion could never reach his mind.( Because Arthur perceives the world entirely through moral categories, he must see himself in just the same way as the crowd perceived Hester in the first scaffold scene: he is a sinner, nothing more ) The nature of this character is definitely not versatile for Hawthorne highlights in him only those qualities that are very close to each other: cowardice, timidity, lack of fortitude and listlessness. This suggests that Dimmesdale is nothing more than an allegory or even a schematic personification of an abstract concept. His tragedy is not a confrontation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The energetic Hester gives strength to the languishing pastor and calls for escape. Inspired by Hester s desire, he starts for the first time to feel truly happy and free. When we consider this character, the line between artistic symbol and allegory is quite shaky, but despite the fact that Hawthorne constantly emphasizes repentance as one of the main features of the hero, Dimmesdale s character is not completely unambiguous. Arthur Dimmesdale on the one hand is a hypocrite, but he also loves truth and sincerity. His whole life in the novel is the way for the solemn moment of the revealing of his secret but along the way there are insights (the scene on the scaffold with Hester and Pearl) and ... • 42. The Main Contours Of English Colonization In The 17th... 1. The main contours of English Colonization in the 17th century were Protestant motives to strike Catholicism, along with solving England s social crisis. With the rumors of the Spanish Empire s atrocities reaching England, one motive to colonize the America s was to strike the Catholics, and save the natives from captivity (Foner 51). This shows an interesting aspect of the English Colonization: the English allowed their people to go colonize just to strike the opposing religious country. Along with this, England sending emigrants over solved their social crisis. Because of England s growing population and economy, the amount of peasants in cities grew. This is because of landlords using land for sheep, which kicked out peasants from their land (Foner 51 52). England hoped that some people of the lower classes would then go to America: to be out of the big cities where important people were, while still helping England in it s economy. 2. Some obstacles the English settlers in the Chesapeake overcame were indentured servitude and getting land from the natives. A majority of the settlers were indentured servants, and for all of the servants, they had to do a certain number of years of labor to be free (Foner 54). This was an obstacle that a lot of settlers had to overcome. It was a tough obstacle, with the labor being really intense, and many indentured servants were dying. Another obstacle that settlers overcame was the need for land, which meant dealing with the Indians. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Intelligence, Surveillance, And Reconnaissance Operations Introduction The United States (US) Intelligence Community (IC) requires a succinct method for measuring the collection effectiveness of Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) operations of both National Technical Means (NTM) and airborne Sensitive Reconnaissance Operations (SRO) Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) collection. Intelligence professionals seek to leverage the GEOINT capabilities at their disposal to satisfy validated requirements in the most efficient manner possible due to the high demand, low density nature of ISR GEOINT assets. With the number of validated collection requirements surpassing the collection capacity available to collection managers there must be an effective manner of evaluating the GEOINT collection strategy to ensure the greatest amount of GEOINT is collected to satisfy a Joint Force Commander s (JFC) Priority Intelligence Requirements (PIR). This imbalance between the amount of collection that is needed and the capacity available to acquire and exploit the images drives home the necessity for a GEOINT collection strategy that incorporates a method for measuring its effectiveness of satisfying requirements throughout the execution cycle of collection operations. When discussing the options available for measuring GEOINT collection effectiveness a brief background section will highlight the significance of ISR GEOINT collection across the six phases of operations.
