Sunspots And Radiation
Solar flares, Sunspots, and Radiation Solar flares, Sun spots, and Radiation are all vital parts of the
sun cycle. Sunspots create solar flare which gives off radiation, without one another the sun could
explode because of energy build up. Solar flares are defined as brief eruptions of highly energized
radiation from the sun, but why does this happen? Solar flares occur when magnetic energy is built up,
then rapidly released at once, during, the sun gives off generous amounts of X and gamma rays.
Strangely enough the energy of a solar flare is ten million times that of a volcanic eruption, but only
1/10th of the energy that comes from the sun every second. There are three stages of solar flares, first,
the precursor stage where the release

Cultural Anthropology Suicide Anthropology
Suicide is a controversial topic that is effecting more and more people everyday. People all around the
world have to undergo stress and anxiety as a result of a difficult situation. It was found that people
who take care for their chronically ill family members, go through extreme stressful and anxious
behaviour. Along with this stressful and anxious behaviour, people succumb to the unfortunate result
of mental health problems. Mental problems was not only found with people who have ill family
members, but also with people who have instability in their lifestyle. Over the years, suicide rates have
increased by sixteen percent. Commissions are trying to find indicators of suicide and about how
people are dealing with this mentally. The commissions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychologists would benefit from this article because they can try to understand what triggers the
downward spiral that results to suicide. A psychologist would ask what triggers a suicidal thought and
how does it become gradually worse to conclude to suicide? Does it involve being in a certain type of
situation and is there an indicator that allows people to know when someone is in pain? A behavioural
psychologist is someone who uses experimentation and other sources to understand and change human
behaviour. This type of psychologist would benefit from this article because they can try to understand
the mental triggers that lead to suicide, and can manipulate certain lifestyles to see if it will result into
a different outcome. When someone comes to the thought of committing suicide, this usually means
that this person is some sort of mental pain. In this article, it was found that stress and anxiety had lead
people to committing suicide, and the numerous amounts of situations that was found to lead to
suicide (The Canadian Press, 2015). As a behavioural psychologist they can try to better understand
the types of behaviours that can lead to suicide and help people to identify when someone is suffering.
A research method a behavioural psychologist would use is naturalistic observation. Naturalistic
observation is when a psychologist observes people in their natural environment for research

Information Technology And Service Management
What is ITIL? Information technology infrastructure library gives businesses a set of best practices
and theories to adopt in order to sustain and develop a successful IT service management function.
ITIL has been created by the UK government s central Computer Telecommunication agency, which is
not only used by the UK but internationally by government bodies to commercial organizations
(Wheatcroft, 2007). The framework covers best practices for 13 service level management processes,
which are crucial for every day business functions, which include: Availability management Service
level management Incident management Problem management Financial management Configuration
management Capacity management Change management Continuity management Release
management Knowledge management IT service continuity management Security Management As it
would be inconvenient to have 13 publications, these processes have been merged together to create 5
publications that make up ITIL: Service strategy, focuses on creating a set of IT services for the
customer based on their requirements (Knapp, 2014). Service design focuses on the development and
maintenance of these services (Knapp, 2014). Service transition focuses on these new services and
adjustment to the company, without causing disruption (Knapp, 2014). Service operation focuses on
creating effective IT support for these IT services (Knapp, 2014). Continual service improvements

Snow White By The Brothers Grimm
Snow White The story of Snow White is a cautionary tale that has been written by many. Each time it
has been told, the authors had a different interpretation of how it should be. The two variations that I
will be focusing on are The Brothers Grimm s story and Walt Disney s film. Although the fairytales
are written and filmed by different authors, they share a common theme and two symbols. The theme
that is present in both Grimm s and Disney s versions is that evil will always be punished. The
symbols that are in both tales include the concept of beauty and the red poisonous apple. The Brothers
Grimm wrote a few versions of Snow White, but the one I will be referring to be Snow White. I will
be comparing this story to the film of Walt Disney titled Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. These
two variations have a great deal in common including being about Snow White, but they both tell her
story a bit differently. I will point out a few of these differences. In Grimm s version, the Queen visits
the dwarf s house three times. Each time she comes, she leaves with Snow to be looking presumably
dead. The Queen harms her first with a tightly laced corset; second with a poisonous comb she
brushes her hair with and last with a red piece of a poisonous apple. In Disney s film, a red apple
poisons Snow once in the attempt by the evil Queen to take her life. In the Grimm s Snow White, the
kiss of the Prince does not awaken her like in Disney s film, but instead the Prince s men drop her

History Of Egypt And Southwestern Part Of Egypt
In the past periods, the northwestern part of Sudan and southwestern part of Egypt (Kehl and
Bornkamm, 1993) were with great effective moisture, which are evident from archaeological sites
associated with remnants of playa or lake deposits. This was the source of recharge in the NSAS. The
estimated recharge rates of the pluvial period were a little high at the Uweinat highlands and central
Sudan area (7 15 mm/year), and low in northern Sudan and southern Egypt area (6 8 mm/year) (Fig.
13). During the filling up process, the high hydraulically conductive sandstones (~ 4.4×10 5 to 1.3×10
4 ms 1) in the area between central Sudan and Uweint Asawn uplift were filled up with water to the
surface with a general flow in a NE direction from Erdi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The groundwater flow from the foothills of the Uweinat highlands has followed the relief of the
underlying basement rocks. As the aquifer became full and the groundwater level rose to the ground
surface at the Uweinat area, the excess precipitation has formed drainage systems flowing in an ENE
direction (Fig. ) to the Tushka depression. This is evidenced from processing of the Radarsat and
SRTM images over this area. Therefore, these surface drainages were drained the excess water above
the surface away from the system. The groundwater has flowed northeastwards from Uweinat foothills
within the Dakhla Basin from Dakhla to Farafa and from Farafra to Bahariya oasis. Provided that the

Why Is The Montgomery Bus Boycott Important

Montgomery Bus Boycott
During the 1950 s African Americans were technically equal in the eyes of the law, but not to most of
the southern citizens. Segregation was a time of division between whites and African Americans in
regards to bathrooms, public amenities, schools etc. t all of the country was like this, the occupants
ofnorthern America were open and not as racist towards African Americans. In 1955, African
Americans obligated by Montgomery, Alabama, city ordinance to sit in the back city buses and to give
up their seats to white people ifthe front half ofthe bus was full. On December 1, 1955 Rosa Parks was

Constitution. The 14th amendment guarantees all citizens, regardless of race, equal rights and equal
protection under state and federal laws. The city appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, which upheld
the lower court s decision on December 20, 1956. Montgomery s buses were integrated on December
21, 1956, and the boycott ended. It had lasted 381 days. Even though in the eyes of the law the buses
were integrated and the issue had been dealt with, African Americans still had to go through adversity
and resistance from white people that usually resulted in violence. While the busses were integrated
the people of Montgomery, Alabama figured out a new way to discriminate against African
Americans, they retaliated with integrated bus stops and even violence. Occasionally snipers were
paid to fire into public busses at African Americans in order to kill them and send a message. In
January 1957, four black churches and the homes of prominent black leaders were bombed; a bomb at
King s house was defuseq. On January 30, 1957, the Montgomery police arrested seven bombers; all
were members of the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist group. The arrests largely brought an end to
the busing related violence. The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a very important and vital part in the
civil rights movement for many reasons. First, it was the one of the first mass protests on civil rights in
the U.S. The Montgomery bus boycott set the stage for other large protests outside the court system to
bring fair treatment for African Americans. Second, Martin Luther King came up as a prominent
national leader of the civil rights movement while also.keeping true to his commitment to nonviolent
protest. Shortly after the boycott s end, he

Ray Bradbury s Use Of Symbolism In Fahrenheit 451
Ray Bradbury Fahrenheit 451 uses symbolism what are important symbols in the work and how are
they significant? The symbols are significant in Fahrenheit 451 because there were a lot of symbols in
the book that was important they were important because they helped montag do his job.In Fahrenheit
451 Ray Bradbury uses the symbols of a phoenix,a salamander, and the number 451 because they are
all related to fire in some way.
Sommers, Joseph Micheal The Phoenix and the firmen The phoenix was one out of three symbols that
was summarized in Fahrenheit 451 the phoenix is a bird that is consumed by flames but then rises
from the ashes. The phoenix was compared to a guy named Montag in Fahrenheit 451 Montag who
was a guy who worked at a fire station and burnt houses and books for fun. The myth of the phoenix
gave optimism to the life of montag, to the books, and to the world of Fahrenheit 451.The phoenix
would burn out ,and be reborn again (Sommers). Bradbury in his dystopic novel has his character
granger , a former academic, explain to montag a former fireman , the lost meaning behind the symbol
of the phoenix that montag had worn proudly upon his chest during his service as a fireman .
(Sommers) So from the above research Montag uses this symbol because he ... Show more content on

Wall Street Journal Analysis
Paper #3
The third paper is an analysis and my thoughts on The Wall Street Journal article by Bob Tita titled A
New Approach to New Products. The article focuses on open innovation and rapid prototyping as
characteristics of the innovative company FirstBuild. This paper discusses these two characteristics in
the context of DoD materiel acquisition. Prototyping has long been recognized as a low cost technique
to test initial concepts and ideas about a product meet user requirements. In some instances and over
time, the cost for building prototypes has not been low and the time has been unacceptable, which is
why 3D printing has become so popular. Prototyping has now regained its value in the development
cycle due to 3D printing. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of our meetings in DoD do not meet any standard metrics for productivity according to much of
the best practices of management so experimenting with them seems only an opportunity for
improvement. I have experimented with multiple aspects of meetings to include their duration, their
location, setting the agenda with one or two questions to drive discussion versus a straight transmittal
of information format, and with meeting attendees. The result has been a consistent push back to
changing such aspects of the meeting and very little desire for consideration of other ways of
accomplishing the purpose of the meeting. Some don t even want to spend the time thinking critically
about the purpose of a meeting in order to identify alternative solutions. This is worrisome to me
because if we cannot experiment with simple aspects of our daily business, the possibility of
experimenting with different equipment or organizational structures seems like a significant leap for
some of our

The Harrowing Story Of Harriet Jacobs
The harrowing story of Harriet Jacobs experiences with slavery opens the reader s eyes to the special
cruelty women endured under the watchful eye of their masters and mistresses. And while Jacobs
openly admits that slavery is terrible fate for both men and women, there are additional burdens added
to women who are forced to live under the commands of another. Jacobs writes, Slavery is terrible for
men; but it is far more terrible for women. Superadded to the burden common to all, they have
wrongs, and sufferings, and mortifications peculiarly their own. This peculiar suffering Jacobs speaks
of is often related to the morality of the soul, and the persistent pressure that women must endure
under the control of their master, especially concerning rape and sexual harassment. Added on top of
the physical punishment that all slaves experience, women, especially those born with beauty, suffer
from moral failings when a master forces himself upon them. Furthermore, an additional pain women
must endure, is that of motherhood. In a matriarchal society, women are responsible for the wellbeing
of others, as was the case with Linda s grandmother. Women has additional tethers to their lives which
only serve to increase the pains of slavery. It is well known that black slaves in America faced many
trials and tribulations, however, there are cruelties which women faced with the institution of slavery
which were exclusive to their gender. For slave women, sexual harassment, and rape

Thomas Hardy was an English man, who lived in England near Dorchester.
He lived from 1840 1928 most of what he wrote is set in Dorset and the neighboring countries. He
gave these the fictional name Wessex. He wrote 17 novels which one was unpublished. And around a
thousand poems the melancholy hussar and the withered arm are both from the Wessex tails book. He
lived on the edge of a tract of a wild heath land, which was very isolated this may have resulted in his
stories being set out in the country or being isolated. Or even ending happy in the melancholy hussar

In The Melancholy Hussar Dr.grove does not want any foreigners going near his daughter he does not
mind them camping near by but when he finds out about Mathus he tries to send Phyllis to her aunts
house to get her away from him. As her dad probably sees Humphrey as a more suitable man that
comes from a good family. But Dr.grove does not know anything about mathus; he is prejudging him
just because he is from a different country.
If people break the lines of social restriction it is seen as usually unforgivable so this made the
characters feel very lonely and sad. For example comparing both stories to each other usually there are
no happy endings. Maybe because Thomas Hardy did not like happy endings.
(Rhoda and Gertrude both women which Hardy seemed to concentrate on the social aspects of them.)
Gertrude dies and Rhoda just seems to die off even farmer Lodge gets no son and looses his land,
which has been in his family for years the only one in both stories that seems to be happy is

Responsibility In Virgil s Ceres And Dido
Ceres and Dido each possess great power and authority, but their depictions by Ovid and Virgil
establish an inaccurate sense of weakness. As women, they are characterized as adversaries to the
male idea of power and strength. Though they are queens and goddesses, they are unequal to their
male counterparts simply due to their sex. Each of these women fall victim to the oppressiveness of
their respective patriarchal societies. Even though Ceres and Dido, in adherence to gender roles, are
devoted mothers and lovers, respectively. Their love is only met with pain and agony. Dido allows her
burning desire for Aeneas to distract her from her duties, and Ceres is brought to a crippled state
because Dis has stolen her daughter. In both Virgil s The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Dis abducts her daughter, she appeals to Jove, but faces great injustice and inequality. Jove does
not attempt to empathize with the grieving mother, but instead chooses to lecture her. Though she is a
most powerful goddess, she must humble herself in his presence. Aware of the dynamic, she appeals to
his masculine dominance and says, ...if you have no regard for her mother, relent as her father don t
hold her unworthy, I beg you, simply because I am the child s other parent! (V. 687 689). This self
degradation is a notable contrast from the fierceness Ceres demonstrates only moments before. As an
autonomous goddess, she reeks havoc in her rage, but in the presence of a male counterpart, she must
subdue her rage. She hides her true emotions and submits to the male dominated world she lives in.
Instead of respecting Ceres for her humility, Jupiter almost mocks her concerns and exclaims ...how
much it is to be Jove s brother! (V.702). Desperate for his aid, Ceres has no response and must tolerate
his insincerity. Although Ceres is a powerful goddess, it is almost irrelevant because her might and
fortitude are minimized by Jove s haughtiness. But, her capacity to temper her emotions indicate a
power all of its own. This control is in fact, far more impressive than Jove s excessive

The Sandwitch Factory
The Sandwich Factory
A) The short story The Sandwich Factory is written by Jason Kennedy and deals with a man s
experiences doing a low paid job at a sandwich factory. It tells the story of how the man needs to be
able to deal with a lot of things about himself and other people, to do the work and concentrate about
it. We get a very good insight into his situation, but it is very much marked by his personal thoughts
about it, and therefore it becomes more or less useless for us to relate to. It is very obvious that this
man doesn t like his job, and we even get the feeling that he doesn t like his life either.
To begin with the story takes place in the sandwich factory, where he works. He introduces us to some
of the people he works ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The manager, however, seems to think that he knows how everybody thinks, as he believes that the
employees don t like to be shunted around. It is obvious that he hasn t tried it himself. The text gives
an insight into how the managers think, and it can therefore be connected with the narrator s thoughts
in the short story. Picture 2, a still from Modern Times by Charlie Chaplin is a very interesting picture
in this situation, as it represents society s thoughts about the huge mass productions that suddenly
overwhelmed the world. The film makes fun of the massive factory production that not only made a
lot of people unemployed, but also made the world go mad. It can relate to the short story because of
the way it uses irony to deal with a huge problem.
B) The statement: a figure of speech is an expression or comparison that relies not on its literal

Dickens seems to be using it a lot, and the text is actually very much marked by figures of speeches.

Evidence Of Negligence
There are three essential elements that are required for an action for negligence to considered. It must
first be established if the defendant owed the plaintiff a duty of care, that there was a breach of that
duty of care and that the plaintiff suffered a loss caused by the breach of duty. As Michael was
repairing a bike for a client, he did owe his client Paul a duty of care. As stated in the problem,
Michael was distracted and neglected to properly secure the front wheel after finishing his repairs, this
is a breach of the duty of care on Michael s part. Paul also suffered a loss caused by this breach of
care. This means that all three essential elements required are established for a case of negligence.
Further evidence of this is seen

And there s something called competitive stunt kiting. As you might expect, the people who compete

Richard Dermer. He is a pizza shop owner and kite collector. The walls of Dermer s pizza joint are
covered in kites from all over the world. That is impressive enough. But it s not his only
accomplishment. Dermer worked at Hideaways, one of the first pizza places in Oklahoma. It opened

He told Collectors Weekly: I was very much a novice, but I started learning. And the more we got into
going to kite festivals and collecting kites, the more I discovered and the deeper the subject became.
My kite book library now runs over a hundred volumes. I learn stuff new every time I go to an event.
And I think the kites out in the garage are multiplying when the lights are out. What does Dermer s
collection and hobby bring to the United States? It brings an international perspective and history on
kite flying. In India, for example, kite flying is a fierce. It is a sometimes violent sport. In Thailand,
kite battles reflect the war of the sexes between men and women. Kites were used in World War II.
They were used to distract German planes and for target practice. When Dermer started stunt kiting, it
was pretty new. All the kits were triangular, they all looked about the same. But soon, Dermer told
Collectors Weekly, that changed. In the 80s and 90s, kites went through quite a developmental phase
where they were getting better and better as new lighter, stronger materials were being developed.

Wasted Time In High School
Emily Sellers
Composition 1301 332
Mrs. Kinkead
24 September 2017 Wasted time in High School
Public high schools tend to waste a lot of time in class doing things that aren t related to school at all.
It has been reported that in many schools, teachers make students do chores for them for extra credit
points, while others are learning new things. Jay Mathews wrote A startling waste of precious
classroom time, published in 2014 in the Washington Post, and he argues that so much time is wasted
in low income schools due to teachers and it makes it very difficult for students to learn in that
environment. Mathews begins to establish pathos by stating the names of two girls that go to Compton
High School and want to learn, but their school is unable to give them the education they desire.
Mathews established ethos a little later in his article by stating facts about programs he has
encountered with inner city schools; however, toward the end of his article, he uses facts to establish
logos, which is the appeal of logic, while stating that schools have been sued because low income
students have not been given the right education.
Mathews explains that Wasting time is common in the nation s low income schools. Class schedules
can be a mess at the beginning of the year, forcing students to wait days in the library for their
assignments (Mathews). Mathews establishes ethos through stating the facts of wasted time in low
income schools. Mathews states that at Compton High

Essay on Reproductive and Therapeutic Cloning
There are two types of cloning, one of them is reproductive cloning which is when a whole organism
is cloned and therapeutic cloning is the cloning of cells, organs or tissues. Cloning is when two cells
decide or are forced to duplicate into two cells to replicate each other. Cloning can be done
deliberately or naturally; and it results in two copies having identical cells, DNA, genes, organs and
organisms. Cloning is a common, ongoing, debatable topic among society today. Many people argue
about how future scientific advances in cloning will affect society. Most often people dislike the idea
of cloning because it goes against their ethical beliefs, or because they are in fear of it ending up in the
wrong hands. But sometimes when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who do not have enough confidence in the matter might argue that someone could create super
soldiers for war, but with everything comes limitations and law. No matter how many laws are put into
place, there will always be people there to either abide by them or to break them. As long as the
limitations keep such horrible things from happening and there are officers and the government to aid,
then there is no issue.
Also, because there are many benefits to cloning and since not everyone believes in a god why should
religion be used in making decisions for people where religious morality is not even an issue? The
beliefs of some people should not deprive others of the benefits of cloning. There are those with
religious beliefs who think that taking antibiotics or receiving blood transfusions is wrong, but this

The Nuclear Of Nuclear Power
Albert Tran
Nuclear power is energy that is produced as a result of a nuclear reaction, either one of two types,
fission or fusion. The type that is used is fission because fusion is almost impossible to achieve due
the conditions needed to have the reaction occur. One place where it is known that fusion can take
place is the sun. When one thinks of nuclear power, they think radiation, however not all nuclear
reactions emit radiation. The reason why all nuclear power is radioactive is due to the fact that
radioactive elements, especially uranium, is used because of it is the easiest to produce a nuclear
fission reaction because it is a large element and it is harder to split smaller elements such as oxygen
or fluorine. Nuclear fission was discovered by a team of German researchers at the Kaiser Wilhelm
Institute in Berlin on the eve of World War II.
In today s day and age, nuclear power can be viewed as dangerous and unreliable, but it is the only
source of baseload power of electricity. Baseload power is the amount of energy that is needed to meet
year round demands. Not only does nuclear power create a lot of energy to used, but it also does it
reliably without emitting greenhouse gases, like fossil fuel factories. Because of this, nuclear energy
has one of the lowest environmental impacts on land and natural resources of any electricity source
(1). For example, by the year 2013, nuclear power plants have generated a total of 4,058,209,231
Megawatt hours of energy, which

Living As A Lesbian, And August Jordan s A New Politics...
The articles that stood out the most to me were Cheryl Clarke s Living As a Lesbian and June Jordan s
A New Politics of Sexuality . These articles stood out, because while given a similar topic (lesbians)
they both possessed very different, yet similar arguments. I found this interesting because it is a prime
example of societies different views on controversial topics. Cheryl and June s articles contain many
differences, similarities and information to be reflected on.
Cheryl s main arguments are that everyone who loves women (whether its romantically, sexually,
platonically, etc.) is a feminist and lesbians are all part of a rebellion. She states, No matter how a
woman lives out her lesbianism she has rebelled against becoming the slave master s concubine, viz.,
the male dependent female, the female heterosexual. This gives evidence towards her argument that
lesbians, regardless their intentions are resisting from the constructs that society wants them to adhere
to. June would disagree with this statement, arguing that lesbians aren t solely out to rebel but are just
pursuing their lives freely. Cheryl also points out that there is no one sort of lesbian and that whether
you consider yourself a full blown lesbian or bisexual it doesn t change the fact that you are resisting
against the heterosexual society. This being true, Cheryl Clarke also disagrees with the idea of
bisexuality; whereas June Jordan identifies as bisexual. Following along with this Cheryl

Essay On Renee Fleming
American Voices with Renee Fleming
Introduction
Renee Fleming was born on February 14, 1959, in Indiana, Pennsylvania (Fleming 5). She grew up in
Rochester, New York. In addition, the artist was born of two music teachers and she studied music at
Crane School of Music at the State University of New York, Potsdam. She began performing Opera in
smaller concerts but with small opera companies while still a graduate. In the 1990s, she was honored
by Richard Tucker Music Foundation (Baker s Biographical Dictionary of Popular Musicians since
1990 50). By the time, the singer had gained popularity due to her great role in the music industry
worldwide, especially in opera, such as her title role in Donizetti Lucrezia Borgia with the opera
orchestra of New York. Renee has made several appearances throughout her music life. For example,
she performed a solo concert at the lyric opera in Chicago, besides Sir Andrew Davis, and Sang
Violetta with Los Angeles Operas (Fleming 15). In addition, she has featured on several occasions
throughout the United States, Russia, Sweden, Austria, and Russian.
One of her unsurpassed performances was her concert on 19th February, 2013, besides singers ...

The start of the concert was promising because classical beats filled the air. When the time came for
the musician to move on stage, I was surprised by the appraisal from the audience. If I had attended, I
could have joined others in welcoming Fleming on stage. All the musicians seemed to be confident on
the stage, and the crowd was shouting to the performing musicians. From the acclamation, I realized
that she was a favorite opera artist for many people. Her music style was classic opera with a standard
that left everybody in the concert startled by the beats and tunes. Fleming s standard styles, the classic
lyrics on stage were awesome. I learned that many of her fans liked and loved her

Intertextuality Interlace Stories In The Hakawati
The Hakawati utilizes the intertextuality interlace stories which are popular in the real world such as
Arab/Persian tale of Qays and Layla. This story is about a young man who loves a woman whose
father prohibits their marriage. Unfortunately, this young woman is married to another man and dies
far away from Qays. At this point, Qays roams the earth missing her as Majnun, the crazy one.
Similarly in The Hakawati, Layl and Shams fall in love, but Layl and Shams are of the same sex
(male). Layl disappears and Shams goes insane when he misses him and Shams is referred to in the
novel as Majnoun, the crazy one (The Hakawati 479). Thus, the iconic images of Layl and Majnoun
marks The Hakawati in its tendency to interlace with popular myths. ... Show more content on

Reflection On The Root Cellar
Since the beginning of September, I have been attending the Root Cellar in Portland Maine. My work
has varied time to time, but, mostly includes watching and hanging out with kids from age 5 18. I also
helped with projects around the organization and preparing meals for kids. Throughout my time at the
root cellar, I have noticed multiple scenarios where concepts we learn in the classroom are evident
with my experiences at this organization.
The first concept or chapter I am going to focus on is education. They provide multiple services for
the students attending to perform well in school and get extra help on homework or any other school
work. They provide private tutors for free in which they will help students with specific subjects. Two
times specifically stand out to me when thinking about the concept of education. The first was when I
was walking by and witnessed an older gentleman helping a student for about an hour with his english
homework. Next was when a little boy in the 4th grade came up to me and asked for some help with
his math homework. He was learning how to multiply numbers and I taught him the multiplying nines
trick on his hands. He was so amazed by this and was very thankful which made my whole experience
at The Root Cellar worth it.
The second concept I experienced was economic inequality. This is very apparent with people who
come into the root cellar as they are seeking assistance. My last time volunteering I noticed this as I
was picking up

High Concentration Lab
Introduction
The purpose of this experiment is to observe the nett movement of particles from regions of high
concentration to low concentration.
Background biology
Agar
Agar is derived from polysaccharide agarose, which forms the supporting structure in the cell walls of
certain species of algae, and is released on boiling. Agar is actually the resulting mixture of two
components: the linear polysaccharide agarose, and a diverse mixture of smaller molecules called
agaropectin.
Diffusion
Diffusion is the movement of substance from an area of high concentration to an area with low
concentration. The rate of diffusion is influenced by a number of factors including the concentration of
the gradient, temperature and the size and chemical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The importance to repeat experiments is to make sure that the results can be replicated, and that the
experiment results were not flawed. For the most accurate measurements, the highest and lowest
numbers measured need to be removed and keep and use the middle measurement.
A pattern emerged with our results, the bigger the cube surface area, the less the cube diffused in the
acid. With only one exception the 2CM block of agar (error). The results emerged shows with a block
with larger surface area, the less it diffuses in this experiment, the acid.
Conclusion
From the results of this investigation agar blocks with higher surface to volume ratio will diffuse
slower than ones with lower surface to volume ratio. This is done by the process of diffusion. The
hypothesis was correct, as the bigger the cube was the less it diffused and the agar had a chemical
reaction with the sulphuric acid. The chemical reaction caused the agar to change its purple colour to
almost transparent.
Abstract
Purpose and procedure The purpose of this experiment is to determine the effect of surface area to
volume ratio on agar blocks in sulphuric acid

Analysis Of Mark Twain s The Gilded Age
The 19th century formed an era of industrialization and political change in the United States. New
possibilities formed and new ideas inhibited the once agrarian country. New people came to America
too as an effect of immigration. Immigrants from all over Europe and East and South Asia knew of the
new opportunities available. Once they came to the United States, these people started congregating in
cities. Here, they were close to the jobs and resources they needed, not to mention that it was a more
efficient use of space compared to expanding outward. In the country, the demand for labor was
increasing, and luckily there was a complementary increase in supply of it. The influx of immigrants
was an influx of new ideas ones that differed from pre existing views in the United States. Good ideas
came from good people, and their impressions and motivations were powerful, casting an image of
wealth and awe inspiring personality.
It was what the famous writer Mark Twain called the Gilded Age for its magnificent impression yet
troublesome mechanics. Mark Twain would be the one to know of the wonders and friction of ideas
and people. His friend Nikola Tesla, the eccentric Serbian scientist, had major involvement in the
peaks and troughs of this era. In fact, Nikola s dilemma with another great contemporary of his even
has its own name: the War of the Currents.
The War of the Currents is a distinct series of events that occurred during the Gilded Age. Nikola Tesla

Description of All Four Feministic Theories
In chapter twelve of the textbook titled The Moral of the Story we are faced with theories of feminism
that we encounter on an everyday basis. The issue on feminism is one that has been fought for by both
men and woman for many years and yet still seems to be an ongoing battle to achieve full gender
equality. I personally feel that gender equality is important in this world because I for myself have met
women in my life who I not only look up to but who have also inspired me to keep moving forward in
my journey of life. In this paper I will describe all four feministic theories as well as to why I support
feminism as a whole. I will also compare the similarities as well as differences of these theories as
well as to which theory I tend to see more of on a day to day basis.
First we are encountered with the theory of Classical Feminism. This theory is also referred to as
Liberal Feminism which implies that all men and woman are to be regarded as persons first and
gendered beings second (Rosenstand, 625). It is in classical feminism where we are introduced to
another type of gender, which is referred to as Androgyny. This new gender category is one that is
considered to be a combination of both feminine and masculine characteristics and is achieved
through cultural changes rather than biological differences (Rosenstand, 627). Simone de Beauvoir
believed that a man was considered a typical human being while women were viewed as atypical
(Rosenstand, 627). Beauvoir believed

Wireless Sensor nodes
Prepared by: Mukesh Mishra Date: 21/03/2016
1. Introduction
A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is comprised of multiple tiny devices called nodes or motes. These
are distributed spatially in an environment to monitor sense and compute data wirelessly. The role of a
sensor node is to evaluate different tasks. First, a node has to sense physical conditions and exchange
the information with other nodes after computation. Second, it plays the important role of being a
relay for different sensor nodes [1],[2],[3],[4]. These nodes can mount anywhere in the environment
[2]. With recent advancements in the field of electronics these devices are becoming cheaper and
smaller and are being employed in both indoor and outdoor environments. Applications include
agricultural monitoring, household and military surveillance, industrial automation and robotics, and
healthcare [3]. A sensor node, shown in Figure.1 is a low power device and consists of five different
components namely [5], [12]
(i) Sensing unit: comprises of two sub units: sensors and analog to digital converter (ADC). Sensors
are capable to measure electrical parameters and interface to the real world. The analog signals
produced by the sensors based on observed phenomena are converted in to digital signals by ADC.
After sampling these signals are fed into the microcontroller for processing

Mt. Everest May Of 1996
In the wake of the 1996 disasters, a doctor decided to perform an experiment that required him to
follow a team of hikers to measure for the first time, the toll high altitude climbing takes on the heart,
lungs, blood, and brain. I thought it appropriate to incorporate some of the evidence acquired from the
studies done by the group, seeing as the interest for this experiment was triggered by the tragic events
that had materialized on Mount Everest May of 1996. The program is a first scientific study I have
seen on what occurs in human body when it is steadily experiencing this type of stress. The program
shows what happens to the awareness and physical ability in low oxygen pressure. While superficially
seeming to be normal, under intense testing done by the researchers, it is clear that there stands
weakening in the hiker s brain capacity to process information. ... Show more content on

Since this program I now have renewed admiration for the mountaineers, especially for Edmund
Hillary, and Tenzing Norgay who was the first to climb Mt. Everest. When they climbed they did not
have the lightweight equipment, or ropes to help them make their climb helpful. They did not even
have the established safety route to the summit like there is today. It was fascinating to watch this
show, to see how people react to altitude, to watch what is actually happening to them physiologically.
It was like having a first hand experience without the danger of actually

Jack Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies
In William Golding s best selling novel, Lord of the Flies man s inherent evil and savage nature is
revealed through Golding s strident world view, extraordinary use of literary devices, and superb
structure. Lord of the Flies was published in 1954 when it quickly became wildly popular. The novel
has had a difficult history following its immediate fame. Numerous schools, universities, and
institutions have barred the book from being taught for its use of racism, explicit content and vivid
imagery. Golding himself is an astounding reflection of the inner turmoil and harshness of his own
writing. William Golding detested the British class system and his book reflected his thoughts.

Jack is the book s symbol for the theme, man s inherent savage nature. Jack himself is nothing more
than an animalistic beast that finally gets uncaged and set free at the end of the novel. Jack finds his
identity in his tribe, as his tribe s animalistic tendencies grow, so do his. Jack also represents the boys
growing love for power and destruction, as well as the love for power and destruction that is in
everyone. Ralph is the symbol for common sense and logic. Ralph is rational and that s why he is the
original leader, why he is in control. He finds his identity in his morality and justness, which is what
made him so perfect for his starting role, and his ending role. The end of the book is chaos, something
Ralph doesn t fit into. The smaller characters also are symbols. Roger represents the desire for
violence and torture, Piggy represents intellect and maturity, and Simon represents piety. Following its
publication, Lord of the Flies was barred from being taught in many places worldwide for its
excessive use of discrimination, violence, and foul language (4). The novel was under the most duress
during 1980 1990 when several school districts around the country refused to teach the book and
challenged the novel to their superiors (4). The teachers weren t just troubled with the violence,
discrimination, and foul language, but also that the boys in the novel weren t fighting for survival,
they were fighting simply to satiate the beast within themselves

Two Great Short Stories Read by Many are A Rose for Emily...
Two of the greatest short stories written back in late 19th and early 20th centuries are still read by
many people. The two stories are A Rose for Emily written by William Faulkner and Guy De
Maupassant s The Necklace . Faulkner s book is about a woman named Emily Grierson s life and her
horrible secret she hides. The other book is about a materialistic woman named Mathilde Loisel loses
a fake necklace and find out to be a fake one after ten years later. Although these stories are written
about fifty years apart and written from two different countries, these two stories have many
similarities and differences. A Rose for Emily and The Necklace are juxtaposed with the main
characters, usage of symbolism on the title, and the tone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also these items can reflect the strong symbolism in it. Faulkner used a rose, but De Maupassant used
the necklace to represent the main character s emotions in two items. The difference in those symbols
is that a rose has only appeared on the title but the necklace is the whole flow of the story. Faulkner
leaves the reader to interpret the rose s symbolic meaning. The rose is usually a powerful symbol of
love, it always has been, and portrays an everlasting beauty. Moreover, the rose has been used for
centuries to illustrate an eternal type of love and faithfulness. Therefore, readers can infer the meaning
that the rose present in the title, and portray it to Emily that she does not have love in her life. The
necklace, however it is the important items that lead to the climax of the story. It is pretty but
worthless, shows the awareness of appearance and real world. Also, the fake necklace shows Mathilde
s desire to be something she is not. The last comparison about these two narratives about tone. The
tone of two narratives is very ironic. There are many ironies to be found in A Rose for Emily. One of
the examples, when she is speaking with the Aldermen. They are trying to convince Emily to pay her
taxes and she simply repeated a person s name who has been dead for ten years. The other story The
Necklace also have many ironical quotes. Mathilde Loisel really wants to be in the upper class society,
but because she shows persistence borrowing the

The Importance Of Stock Cards

mid 1990 s and baseball card mania was booming. As an elementary school student I was in the thick

To many however, digital currencies are simply a means to speculative trading. They are not backed
by any government and are not regulated. They do not carry SIPC or FDIC insurance... and yes, any

profits. Over the past few days Bitcoin mania seems to be frothing at an increasing rate. Over the
weekend digital currency searches were among the top searched apps on Apple s App Store and one of
the most prominent Bitcoin investing websites had trouble keeping up with demand. There are of
course stories of high school drop outs who have become Bitcoin millionaires. Stories of Bitcoin that

During the bull market in stocks over the past 9 years have you ever considered stocks too risky,
valuations too frothy, volatility too fearful? If so, perhaps a speculative investment in Bitcoin may not

Comparing the Feminine Quest in Surfacing and Song of...
The Feminine Quest in Surfacing and Song of Solomon
Margaret Atwood in her novel Surfacing and Toni Morrison in her novel Song of Solomon require
their heroines to pass through a stage of self interpretation as a prerequisite for re inventing the self.
This stage in the feminine journey manifests a critical act typically absent in the traditional male
journey, and one that places Atwood and Morrison s heroines at odds with the patriarchal community.
If authors of feminine journeys meet the requirements set out by feminist critics like Dana Heller, then
we must also provide a method for interpreting the texts that will be palatable for critics from the
patriarchy. Otherwise we perpetuate an hostility between the camps that ... Show more content on

But as conditions in real life changed, the structure and impact of the old stories failed to keep pace,
and we found ourselves with a confusing mismatch of perceived roles and desired roles.
The revised male journey became flight from women and from the influence of others according to
Heller thus creating the literary label of anti hero (24). He still journeyed, but he kept the boon to
himself (it was a lesser one anyway). If for some reason he does pass back through his sponsoring
community, he is not received as a prince returning home..
The revised female journey became more fully hers, but like the male anti hero, the Jane Eyres and
Emma Bovarys become social outcasts and outlaws for refusing to remain in their duly assigned roles.
For a satisfactory conclusion to these stories, the audience required death or marriage still generally
portrayed as a final submission to patriarchal authority.
Dana Heller tells us now that Women s quests must propose strategies for escaping debilitating
structures, for discovering authentic selfhood, and for claiming the right to take her journey out into
the world (13). Heller expresses here an imperative to current and future writers of the feminine
journey to generate stories that accord the heroine

Infections Are Common Among Medical Settings
MRSA is considered to be nosocomial infections which are infections that occur within 48 hours of
being admitted to a hospital but recently the newest term for these conditions are healthcare associated
infections (HAISs)(book). The majority of these infections are common among medical settings
because they provide an ideal environment for development and transmission. These infections can be
transmitted by contaminated hands of healthcare providers, contaminated instruments, and urinary
catheters. All these microbes allow easy entrance into the body and invasive surgeries can help with
the spread of diseases because they are an open access point to the body. Methicillin resistant
staphylococcus aureus is one of the most concerning healthcare associated infections because it is
resistant to more than one antibiotic. It is associated with surgical wound, urinary tract, and blood
stream infection and has a possibility of causing respiratory infections (book). Over the last 20 years
MRSA has spread into the community and has been associated with the recent high antibiotic use,
sharing contaminated person items, living in crowded settings, and poor hygiene. This form is
different in the fact that it can be treated with alternate antibiotics.
Medical professionals that have to deal with diseases such as MRSA should use contact precautions to
prevent of spreading the disease to other patients or employees. Radiographers that are dealing with
contact diseases should always wear

  • 2. Sunspots And Radiation Solar flares, Sunspots, and Radiation Solar flares, Sun spots, and Radiation are all vital parts of the sun cycle. Sunspots create solar flare which gives off radiation, without one another the sun could explode because of energy build up. Solar flares are defined as brief eruptions of highly energized radiation from the sun, but why does this happen? Solar flares occur when magnetic energy is built up, then rapidly released at once, during, the sun gives off generous amounts of X and gamma rays. Strangely enough the energy of a solar flare is ten million times that of a volcanic eruption, but only 1/10th of the energy that comes from the sun every second. There are three stages of solar flares, first, the precursor stage where the release ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cultural Anthropology Suicide Anthropology Suicide is a controversial topic that is effecting more and more people everyday. People all around the world have to undergo stress and anxiety as a result of a difficult situation. It was found that people who take care for their chronically ill family members, go through extreme stressful and anxious behaviour. Along with this stressful and anxious behaviour, people succumb to the unfortunate result of mental health problems. Mental problems was not only found with people who have ill family members, but also with people who have instability in their lifestyle. Over the years, suicide rates have increased by sixteen percent. Commissions are trying to find indicators of suicide and about how people are dealing with this mentally. The commissions ... A psychologist would ask what triggers a suicidal thought and how does it become gradually worse to conclude to suicide? Does it involve being in a certain type of situation and is there an indicator that allows people to know when someone is in pain? A behavioural psychologist is someone who uses experimentation and other sources to understand and change human behaviour. This type of psychologist would benefit from this article because they can try to understand the mental triggers that lead to suicide, and can manipulate certain lifestyles to see if it will result into a different outcome. When someone comes to the thought of committing suicide, this usually means that this person is some sort of mental pain. In this article, it was found that stress and anxiety had lead people to committing suicide, and the numerous amounts of situations that was found to lead to suicide (The Canadian Press, 2015). As a behavioural psychologist they can try to better understand the types of behaviours that can lead to suicide and help people to identify when someone is suffering. • 4. Information Technology And Service Management What is ITIL? Information technology infrastructure library gives businesses a set of best practices and theories to adopt in order to sustain and develop a successful IT service management function. ITIL has been created by the UK government s central Computer Telecommunication agency, which is not only used by the UK but internationally by government bodies to commercial organizations (Wheatcroft, 2007). The framework covers best practices for 13 service level management processes, which are crucial for every day business functions, which include: Availability management Service level management Incident management Problem management Financial management Configuration management Capacity management Change management Continuity management Release management Knowledge management IT service continuity management Security Management As it would be inconvenient to have 13 publications, these processes have been merged together to create 5 publications that make up ITIL: Service strategy, focuses on creating a set of IT services for the customer based on their requirements (Knapp, 2014). • 5. Snow White By The Brothers Grimm Snow White The story of Snow White is a cautionary tale that has been written by many. Each time it has been told, the authors had a different interpretation of how it should be. The two variations that I will be focusing on are The Brothers Grimm s story and Walt Disney s film. Although the fairytales are written and filmed by different authors, they share a common theme and two symbols. The theme that is present in both Grimm s and Disney s versions is that evil will always be punished. The symbols that are in both tales include the concept of beauty and the red poisonous apple. The Brothers Grimm wrote a few versions of Snow White, but the one I will be referring to be Snow White. I will be comparing this story to the film of Walt Disney titled Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. These two variations have a great deal in common including being about Snow White, but they both tell her story a bit differently. I will point out a few of these differences. In Grimm s version, the Queen visits the dwarf s house three times. Each time she comes, she leaves with Snow to be looking presumably dead. The Queen harms her first with a tightly laced corset; second with a poisonous comb she brushes her hair with and last with a red piece of a poisonous apple. In Disney s film, a red apple poisons Snow once in the attempt by the evil Queen to take her life. In the Grimm s Snow White, the kiss of the Prince does not awaken her like in Disney s film, but instead the Prince s men drop her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. History Of Egypt And Southwestern Part Of Egypt In the past periods, the northwestern part of Sudan and southwestern part of Egypt (Kehl and Bornkamm, 1993) were with great effective moisture, which are evident from archaeological sites associated with remnants of playa or lake deposits. This was the source of recharge in the NSAS. The estimated recharge rates of the pluvial period were a little high at the Uweinat highlands and central Sudan area (7 15 mm/year), and low in northern Sudan and southern Egypt area (6 8 mm/year) (Fig. 13). During the filling up process, the high hydraulically conductive sandstones (~ 4.4×10 5 to 1.3×10 4 ms 1) in the area between central Sudan and Uweint Asawn uplift were filled up with water to the surface with a general flow in a NE direction from Erdi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The groundwater flow from the foothills of the Uweinat highlands has followed the relief of the underlying basement rocks. As the aquifer became full and the groundwater level rose to the ground surface at the Uweinat area, the excess precipitation has formed drainage systems flowing in an ENE direction (Fig. ) to the Tushka depression. This is evidenced from processing of the Radarsat and SRTM images over this area. Therefore, these surface drainages were drained the excess water above the surface away from the system. The groundwater has flowed northeastwards from Uweinat foothills within the Dakhla Basin from Dakhla to Farafa and from Farafra to Bahariya oasis. • 8. Why Is The Montgomery Bus Boycott Important Adam Abouhashish Mr. Baugh Period: 6th 5/3/16 Montgomery Bus Boycott During the 1950 s African Americans were technically equal in the eyes of the law, but not to most of the southern citizens. Segregation was a time of division between whites and African Americans in regards to bathrooms, public amenities, schools etc. t all of the country was like this, the occupants ofnorthern America were open and not as racist towards African Americans. In 1955, African Americans obligated by Montgomery, Alabama, city ordinance to sit in the back city buses and to give up their seats to white people ifthe front half ofthe bus was full. The 14th amendment guarantees all citizens, regardless of race, equal rights and equal protection under state and federal laws. The city appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, which upheld the lower court s decision on December 20, 1956. Montgomery s buses were integrated on December 21, 1956, and the boycott ended. It had lasted 381 days. Even though in the eyes of the law the buses were integrated and the issue had been dealt with, African Americans still had to go through adversity and resistance from white people that usually resulted in violence. While the busses were integrated the people of Montgomery, Alabama figured out a new way to discriminate against African Americans, they retaliated with integrated bus stops and even violence. Occasionally snipers were paid to fire into public busses at African Americans in order to kill them and send a message. In January 1957, four black churches and the homes of prominent black leaders were bombed; a bomb at King s house was defuseq. On January 30, 1957, the Montgomery police arrested seven bombers; all were members of the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist group. The arrests largely brought an end to the busing related violence. The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a very important and vital part in the civil rights movement for many reasons. First, it was the one of the first mass protests on civil rights in the U.S. The Montgomery bus boycott set the stage for other large protests outside the court system to bring fair treatment for African Americans. Second, Martin Luther King came up as a prominent national leader of the civil rights movement while also.keeping true to his commitment to nonviolent protest. Shortly after the boycott s end, he ... I have experimented with multiple aspects of meetings to include their duration, their location, setting the agenda with one or two questions to drive discussion versus a straight transmittal of information format, and with meeting attendees. The result has been a consistent push back to changing such aspects of the meeting and very little desire for consideration of other ways of accomplishing the purpose of the meeting. Some don t even want to spend the time thinking critically about the purpose of a meeting in order to identify alternative solutions. • 11. The Harrowing Story Of Harriet Jacobs The harrowing story of Harriet Jacobs experiences with slavery opens the reader s eyes to the special cruelty women endured under the watchful eye of their masters and mistresses. And while Jacobs openly admits that slavery is terrible fate for both men and women, there are additional burdens added to women who are forced to live under the commands of another. Jacobs writes, Slavery is terrible for men; but it is far more terrible for women. Superadded to the burden common to all, they have wrongs, and sufferings, and mortifications peculiarly their own. This peculiar suffering Jacobs speaks of is often related to the morality of the soul, and the persistent pressure that women must endure under the control of their master, especially concerning rape and sexual harassment. Added on top of the physical punishment that all slaves experience, women, especially those born with beauty, suffer from moral failings when a master forces himself upon them. Furthermore, an additional pain women must endure, is that of motherhood. In a matriarchal society, women are responsible for the wellbeing of others, as was the case with Linda s grandmother. Women has additional tethers to their lives which only serve to increase the pains of slavery. It is well known that black slaves in America faced many trials and tribulations, however, there are cruelties which women faced with the institution of slavery which were exclusive to their gender. As women, they are characterized as adversaries to the male idea of power and strength. Though they are queens and goddesses, they are unequal to their male counterparts simply due to their sex. Each of these women fall victim to the oppressiveness of their respective patriarchal societies. Even though Ceres and Dido, in adherence to gender roles, are devoted mothers and lovers, respectively. Their love is only met with pain and agony. Aware of the dynamic, she appeals to his masculine dominance and says, ...if you have no regard for her mother, relent as her father don t hold her unworthy, I beg you, simply because I am the child s other parent! (V. 687 689). This self degradation is a notable contrast from the fierceness Ceres demonstrates only moments before. As an autonomous goddess, she reeks havoc in her rage, but in the presence of a male counterpart, she must subdue her rage. She hides her true emotions and submits to the male dominated world she lives in. Instead of respecting Ceres for her humility, Jupiter almost mocks her concerns and exclaims ...how much it is to be Jove s brother! (V.702). Desperate for his aid, Ceres has no response and must tolerate his insincerity. Wasted Time In High School Emily Sellers Composition 1301 332 Mrs. Kinkead 24 September 2017 Wasted time in High School Public high schools tend to waste a lot of time in class doing things that aren t related to school at all. It has been reported that in many schools, teachers make students do chores for them for extra credit points, while others are learning new things. Jay Mathews wrote A startling waste of precious classroom time, published in 2014 in the Washington Post, and he argues that so much time is wasted in low income schools due to teachers and it makes it very difficult for students to learn in that environment. Mathews begins to establish pathos by stating the names of two girls that go to Compton High School and want to learn, but their school is unable to give them the education they desire. Mathews established ethos a little later in his article by stating facts about programs he has encountered with inner city schools; however, toward the end of his article, he uses facts to establish logos, which is the appeal of logic, while stating that schools have been sued because low income students have not been given the right education. Mathews explains that Wasting time is common in the nation s low income schools. Class schedules can be a mess at the beginning of the year, forcing students to wait days in the library for their assignments (Mathews). Cloning can be done deliberately or naturally; and it results in two copies having identical cells, DNA, genes, organs and organisms. • 21. The Nuclear Of Nuclear Power Albert Tran Nuclear power is energy that is produced as a result of a nuclear reaction, either one of two types, fission or fusion. The type that is used is fission because fusion is almost impossible to achieve due the conditions needed to have the reaction occur. One place where it is known that fusion can take place is the sun. When one thinks of nuclear power, they think radiation, however not all nuclear reactions emit radiation. The reason why all nuclear power is radioactive is due to the fact that radioactive elements, especially uranium, is used because of it is the easiest to produce a nuclear fission reaction because it is a large element and it is harder to split smaller elements such as oxygen or fluorine. Nuclear fission was discovered by a team of German researchers at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute in Berlin on the eve of World War II. In today s day and age, nuclear power can be viewed as dangerous and unreliable, but it is the only source of baseload power of electricity. Baseload power is the amount of energy that is needed to meet year round demands. Not only does nuclear power create a lot of energy to used, but it also does it reliably without emitting greenhouse gases, like fossil fuel factories. Because of this, nuclear energy has one of the lowest environmental impacts on land and natural resources of any electricity source (1). These articles stood out, because while given a similar topic (lesbians) they both possessed very different, yet similar arguments. I found this interesting because it is a prime example of societies different views on controversial topics. Cheryl and June s articles contain many differences, similarities and information to be reflected on. Cheryl s main arguments are that everyone who loves women (whether its romantically, sexually, platonically, etc.) is a feminist and lesbians are all part of a rebellion. She states, No matter how a woman lives out her lesbianism she has rebelled against becoming the slave master s concubine, viz., the male dependent female, the female heterosexual. This gives evidence towards her argument that lesbians, regardless their intentions are resisting from the constructs that society wants them to adhere to. June would disagree with this statement, arguing that lesbians aren t solely out to rebel but are just pursuing their lives freely. Cheryl also points out that there is no one sort of lesbian and that whether you consider yourself a full blown lesbian or bisexual it doesn t change the fact that you are resisting against the heterosexual society. This being true, Cheryl Clarke also disagrees with the idea of bisexuality; whereas June Jordan identifies as bisexual. Following along with this Cheryl ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New possibilities formed and new ideas inhibited the once agrarian country. New people came to America too as an effect of immigration. Immigrants from all over Europe and East and South Asia knew of the new opportunities available. Once they came to the United States, these people started congregating in cities. Here, they were close to the jobs and resources they needed, not to mention that it was a more efficient use of space compared to expanding outward. In the country, the demand for labor was increasing, and luckily there was a complementary increase in supply of it. The influx of immigrants was an influx of new ideas ones that differed from pre existing views in the United States. Good ideas came from good people, and their impressions and motivations were powerful, casting an image of wealth and awe inspiring personality. It was what the famous writer Mark Twain called the Gilded Age for its magnificent impression yet troublesome mechanics. The issue on feminism is one that has been fought for by both men and woman for many years and yet still seems to be an ongoing battle to achieve full gender equality. I personally feel that gender equality is important in this world because I for myself have met women in my life who I not only look up to but who have also inspired me to keep moving forward in my journey of life. In this paper I will describe all four feministic theories as well as to why I support feminism as a whole. I will also compare the similarities as well as differences of these theories as well as to which theory I tend to see more of on a day to day basis. First we are encountered with the theory of Classical Feminism. This theory is also referred to as Liberal Feminism which implies that all men and woman are to be regarded as persons first and gendered beings second (Rosenstand, 625). It is in classical feminism where we are introduced to another type of gender, which is referred to as Androgyny. This new gender category is one that is considered to be a combination of both feminine and masculine characteristics and is achieved through cultural changes rather than biological differences (Rosenstand, 627). Paper 228.797 Project Report on Energy Harvesting and Efficient Hardware Design considerations for Wireless Sensor nodes Prepared by: Mukesh Mishra Date: 21/03/2016 1. Introduction A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is comprised of multiple tiny devices called nodes or motes. These are distributed spatially in an environment to monitor sense and compute data wirelessly. The role of a sensor node is to evaluate different tasks. First, a node has to sense physical conditions and exchange the information with other nodes after computation. Second, it plays the important role of being a relay for different sensor nodes [1],[2],[3],[4]. These nodes can mount anywhere in the environment [2]. With recent advancements in the field of electronics these devices are becoming cheaper and smaller and are being employed in both indoor and outdoor environments. Applications include agricultural monitoring, household and military surveillance, industrial automation and robotics, and healthcare [3]. A sensor node, shown in Figure.1 is a low power device and consists of five different components namely [5], [12] (i) Sensing unit: comprises of two sub units: sensors and analog to digital converter (ADC). Also these items can reflect the strong symbolism in it. Faulkner used a rose, but De Maupassant used the necklace to represent the main character s emotions in two items. The difference in those symbols is that a rose has only appeared on the title but the necklace is the whole flow of the story. Faulkner leaves the reader to interpret the rose s symbolic meaning. The rose is usually a powerful symbol of love, it always has been, and portrays an everlasting beauty. Moreover, the rose has been used for centuries to illustrate an eternal type of love and faithfulness. Therefore, readers can infer the meaning that the rose present in the title, and portray it to Emily that she does not have love in her life. The necklace, however it is the important items that lead to the climax of the story. It is pretty but worthless, shows the awareness of appearance and real world. Also, the fake necklace shows Mathilde s desire to be something she is not. The last comparison about these two narratives about tone. The tone of two narratives is very ironic. The Feminine Quest in Surfacing and Song of Solomon Margaret Atwood in her novel Surfacing and Toni Morrison in her novel Song of Solomon require their heroines to pass through a stage of self interpretation as a prerequisite for re inventing the self. This stage in the feminine journey manifests a critical act typically absent in the traditional male journey, and one that places Atwood and Morrison s heroines at odds with the patriarchal community. If authors of feminine journeys meet the requirements set out by feminist critics like Dana Heller, then we must also provide a method for interpreting the texts that will be palatable for critics from the patriarchy. Otherwise we perpetuate an hostility between the camps that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But as conditions in real life changed, the structure and impact of the old stories failed to keep pace, and we found ourselves with a confusing mismatch of perceived roles and desired roles. The revised male journey became flight from women and from the influence of others according to Heller thus creating the literary label of anti hero (24). He still journeyed, but he kept the boon to himself (it was a lesser one anyway). If for some reason he does pass back through his sponsoring community, he is not received as a prince returning home.. The revised female journey became more fully hers, but like the male anti hero, the Jane Eyres and Emma Bovarys become social outcasts and outlaws for refusing to remain in their duly assigned roles. For a satisfactory conclusion to these stories, the audience required death or marriage still generally portrayed as a final submission to patriarchal authority. Dana Heller tells us now that Women s quests must propose strategies for escaping debilitating structures, for discovering authentic selfhood, and for claiming the right to take her journey out into the world (13). Heller expresses here an imperative to current and future writers of the feminine journey to generate stories that accord the heroine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
